- 0:15[SPEAKER_01]: We're gonna go over the top all season opportunities of who you should be buying if you wanna make money this year in SportsCards.
- 0:24[SPEAKER_01]: Fellowes, thanks for being here.
- 0:32[SPEAKER_02]: Let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go,
- 1:12[SPEAKER_01]: What's happening?
- 1:13[SPEAKER_04]: What's up?
- 1:14[SPEAKER_04]: What's up, boys?
- 1:15[SPEAKER_00]: Let's go now.
- 1:16[SPEAKER_00]: Arm, what's up, brother?
- 1:18[SPEAKER_00]: I was just like, quiet.
- 1:19[SPEAKER_00]: I've been, I've been excited for this.
- 1:21[SPEAKER_00]: So I'd up, we're going to do a back-to-back here over the next two, two weeks too.
- 1:24[SPEAKER_00]: So we got two great episodes that I'm honored to be a part of.
- 1:26[SPEAKER_00]: But this is a conversation that I would have with you guys off the air.
- 1:30[SPEAKER_00]: So it's really cool to have it on the air and be able to kind of get these questions and answers in real time of like, because I have guys I want to target, but I don't know if the juice is worth the squeeze.
- 1:40[SPEAKER_00]: And that's where we join forces here.
- 1:42[SPEAKER_01]: Well, we love it, man.
- 1:43[SPEAKER_01]: And so for those that are friends of the show, of course, you know, arm-lating of just baseball and the call-up podcast, arm is a great friend.
- 1:51[SPEAKER_01]: And he is an advocate for MLB and we bring arm along arm as a wealth of knowledge in the baseball industry.
- 1:57[SPEAKER_01]: And of course, you know, these are these other bozos over here.
- 2:00[SPEAKER_01]: We have Kernham and Bubba.
- 2:02[SPEAKER_01]: But boys, the band hasn't been together in a couple months or whatever.
- 2:05[SPEAKER_01]: And we need to do a quick rapid fire roundtable catch-up.
- 2:08[SPEAKER_01]: And then we got a ton of content today.
- 2:10[SPEAKER_01]: So we want to double
- 2:11[SPEAKER_00]: it has been a month damn it's been a month all right well let's catch up and let's go let's go fill us in arm actually since you're the guest today you start us off what's been up in your world this past week so I'm fighting every urge to actually sell anything right now because yeah I could use a little bit of cash to then buy like there's players I want to buy but you know I'm not as as maybe liquid is I'd want to be right now but then and it to be able to
- 2:38[SPEAKER_00]: I guess be able to make these purchases, I need a little bit more cash.
- 2:42[SPEAKER_00]: So I'm in this weird crossroads of, do I want to sell some of my mechanicals, sell some of my, you know, other cards here to be able to buy others when if I did have liquid I'd probably buy more mechanicals.
- 2:53[SPEAKER_00]: So I'm in this weird crossroads here in that regard, but just mostly standing pat.
- 2:58[SPEAKER_00]: I know this is like buying season though.
- 3:00[SPEAKER_00]: So that's why I'm excited to have this conversation with you guys because I've been stuck at this crossroads of like,
- 3:05[SPEAKER_00]: I wouldn't mind having some more cash to spray the board a little bit and buy some other cards that I love and we're going to talk about of like some of the players and curious about But most of the cards I have either don't want to sell low like they had a rough year, but I believe in them or it's a guy that I'd probably be buying anyways.
- 3:20[SPEAKER_00]: So I'm in this weird
- 3:28[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, for sure asset allocation.
- 3:31[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, it's a very, if you're selling my gonna go hit the Bowman farmer up, okay, I already got a, I already got a DM from a little hand as well.
- 3:40[SPEAKER_00]: A little math and thinking, all right, I can promise you that.
- 3:43[SPEAKER_01]: Love it.
- 3:44[SPEAKER_01]: It's dropping in the DMs just to remind her, um, well, good deal.
- 3:47[SPEAKER_01]: Well, Kern buddy, catch it's up.
- 3:49[SPEAKER_01]: You're back in the NYC.
- 3:51[SPEAKER_01]: Talk to us.
- 3:52[SPEAKER_04]: Unfortunately, I'm back in New York City.
- 3:54[SPEAKER_04]: Florida, Florida is nice, man.
- 3:56[SPEAKER_04]: Weather is just outstanding.
- 3:58[SPEAKER_04]: Who knew?
- 3:59[SPEAKER_04]: Who knew?
- 4:00[SPEAKER_04]: Um, now is a good trip, but we are, we're, we're down south for two, four weeks.
- 4:04[SPEAKER_04]: It was awesome.
- 4:04[SPEAKER_04]: We brought the kids to Disney for two days.
- 4:06[SPEAKER_04]: And they were in Palm Beach the rest of the time.
- 4:08[SPEAKER_04]: A very relaxing, just a ton of hanging by the pool and eating good meals and some drinking.
- 4:13[SPEAKER_04]: It's good, but it is good to be back into the swing of things.
- 4:16[SPEAKER_04]: I'm still busy here at the office, so it's right back to the grind.
- 4:23[SPEAKER_04]: From the card front, I've been kind of quietly lately.
- 4:26[SPEAKER_04]: Honestly.
- 4:27[SPEAKER_04]: Matt, as sometimes you say, you're kind of, you know, what do you call it?
- 4:31[SPEAKER_04]: What's that feeling that you?
- 4:32[SPEAKER_04]: What do you call it something?
- 4:34[SPEAKER_01]: Appathetic burnout?
- 4:35[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, burnt down a little bit.
- 4:37[SPEAKER_04]: I don't want to say I'm burnt down, but I'm just...
- 4:41[SPEAKER_04]: I'm not looking to buy as much right now.
- 4:44[SPEAKER_04]: There's just, I don't want to buy it as to buy, you know?
- 4:46[SPEAKER_04]: And I'm not really, I've never been one to really buy for a marginal property there.
- 4:52[SPEAKER_04]: So it's just, it just doesn't excite me right now.
- 4:55[SPEAKER_04]: There's some, there's some cards that I've gone after.
- 4:57[SPEAKER_04]: Jonah Tongue, Super.
- 4:59[SPEAKER_04]: but way too overvalued, but it's like one of those where normally I'd give that extra step to try to make it happen.
- 5:07[SPEAKER_04]: The extra, like I'd give myself the extra motivation, like I'm going to make this happen in my terms, but I just don't have it in me.
- 5:13[SPEAKER_04]: I don't care enough, you know what I mean?
- 5:15[SPEAKER_04]: There's not that I don't care about Jonathan.
- 5:16[SPEAKER_04]: I just, I feel the burnt out feeling is not, is giving me the like, I don't care as much, you know what I mean?
- 5:22[SPEAKER_04]: But I, so I'm, I'm really just looking forward to baseball starting.
- 5:26[SPEAKER_04]: Like I really just wanted to start up
- 5:28[SPEAKER_04]: So I'm looking forward to that.
- 5:30[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm going to coin a, I'm going to coin a phrase here on the sports card CEO that I'm sure will resonate with our listeners as well as the hobby and that phrase is card fatigue.
- 5:39[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, you go.
- 5:40[SPEAKER_04]: That's what I was looking for.
- 5:41[SPEAKER_01]: Hard fatigue, boys.
- 5:42[SPEAKER_01]: That's what it's called.
- 5:44[SPEAKER_01]: If you're in this space for any length of time, you're going to run into card fatigue.
- 5:48[SPEAKER_01]: It's just inevitable.
- 5:49[SPEAKER_01]: We've all experienced it, but here's the thing is like how you navigate the card fatigue is really, really important because some people will just go out and liquidate everything.
- 5:59[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 5:59[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.
- 5:59[SPEAKER_01]: some people will shut down not pay attention to the market or whatever.
- 6:02[SPEAKER_01]: And so again, I think that's really important.
- 6:04[SPEAKER_01]: But current, I'm glad to see you coming off of VK into a new season.
- 6:09[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I did, I will say I did, um, you know, I did find a hobby shop out there.
- 6:15[SPEAKER_04]: Um, and in a dick sporting goods and I've been ripping tons of NBA chrome and I'm really into buying the hangers and the mega's Because there's some bangers coming out of both of those in their cheap and they're fun for basketball Which I'm not usually buying or anything like I'm not buying singles or anything But it's fun to open and now that now the tops is has the licensing for it It's kind of like maybe look at it a little differently.
- 6:38[SPEAKER_04]: So I've been ripping tons of it like cases of mega's and so it's been it's been a lot of fun doing that
- 6:43[SPEAKER_04]: I think part of the the card fatigue that I'm getting on a little little annoyed with is PSA turnaround times.
- 6:50[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, typically like I'm motivated when I know like I can I can send something super expressing get it back within five days or even walk through for that matter if it's big enough I can get it back this same day and now it's still taken like a week or two weeks and
- 7:05[SPEAKER_01]: It's it's I don't probably doesn't make any logical sense as to why that's giving me fatigue, but it's just it's turning me off a little bit the fact that it's taking so long to turn the stuff around I don't know that's just my thoughts little little side note there we had a car that we sent to SGC the Friday before Christmas it did not get entered into their system or logged for two weeks.
- 7:30[SPEAKER_01]: and we send it in at the next day level or whatever, but it didn't even get logged for two weeks.
- 7:37[SPEAKER_01]: And so really, really interesting with the turnaround times right now.
- 7:40[SPEAKER_01]: I love you brought that up.
- 7:41[SPEAKER_01]: So Baba, what's up, buddy?
- 7:43[SPEAKER_01]: Yep, yep, you're on mute.
- 7:44[SPEAKER_01]: Hang on.
- 7:45[SPEAKER_03]: I'm back, boys.
- 7:46[SPEAKER_03]: Card fatigue definitely has hit me in the past as well, Karim, so I can...
- 7:50[SPEAKER_03]: definitely fill you there.
- 7:51[SPEAKER_03]: But I'm back.
- 7:52[SPEAKER_03]: I'm motivated.
- 7:53[SPEAKER_03]: This is like spring training for me myself.
- 7:56[SPEAKER_03]: I'm reporting for spring training today.
- 7:57[SPEAKER_03]: And so I've been kind of buying up to spring training and I'm back.
- 8:03[SPEAKER_03]: I've done my homework.
- 8:04[SPEAKER_03]: I'm ready to buy.
- 8:05[SPEAKER_03]: I'm just excited that the card market is staying as strong as it is.
- 8:08[SPEAKER_03]: It's exciting for Bowman.
- 8:09[SPEAKER_03]: There's a lot of people that are kind of honestly complaining about that.
- 8:12[SPEAKER_03]: The lack of inventory and I was one of those at one point.
- 8:15[SPEAKER_03]: but it couldn't be better for the strength of the hobby that people aren't just unloading cards at low prices and it keeps prices higher when there's load of inventory.
- 8:23[SPEAKER_03]: So I'm excited about excited about this episode.
- 8:26[SPEAKER_03]: Been excited about the last two weeks and my life is definitely from an anxiety standpoint gotten much better here the last three weeks.
- 8:34[SPEAKER_03]: So many of you have already stopped to me and I can't thank you enough for that.
- 8:37[SPEAKER_03]: But every day is a little bit better and we're in a new year and I'm excited about it.
- 8:41[SPEAKER_03]: So I'm looking forward to today's episode.
- 8:42[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's good to get the, like I said, good to get the band back together.
- 8:45[SPEAKER_01]: I love the energy when all three of us are on here.
- 8:47[SPEAKER_01]: You know, we had a couple of that.
- 8:48[SPEAKER_01]: So previously, dude is working with or whatever, but it is, uh, it's really healthy.
- 8:52[SPEAKER_01]: I think we're on here because we bring a unique perspective to the table that our listeners love.
- 8:57[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I'm blown away still at how many people like continually just say, hey, love the pod, love listening, they're reaching out asking questions.
- 9:05[SPEAKER_01]: So thank you guys for being a part of the, you know, CEO community here.
- 9:08[SPEAKER_01]: We really really appreciate it.
- 9:09[SPEAKER_01]: And
- 9:09[SPEAKER_01]: Again, we're going to bring everything we have to the table in 26 for just a killer year with this podcast and with the hobby that we love the hamhouse sports band and rock and roll in the course we announced last week that we kind of joined forces with the bum and farmer on the buying front little Mac kind of be in the primary driver there is been grinding and hustling and doing what he does and finding some good opportunities you know it is you've got to have to evolve when the market evolves.
- 9:33[SPEAKER_01]: You got to get smarter when the market smarter.
- 9:36[SPEAKER_01]: And so you have to kind of find your angles and play your angles, you know, and to your point-current, you know, some people just aren't interested in buying cards and just making marginal profits, you know, and then sometimes people are, you know, and so you have to know who's who and what people are in this for, and then you kind of begin to figure out where you can store stuff to people.
- 9:55[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I've been like, I've been very annoyed with people.
- 10:01[SPEAKER_04]: Recently, I'm very annoyed to anybody listening to apologize because like usually I try to make myself as accessible as possible and answers many questions, but just recently, I'm just like I might be ignoring some people, so I apologize or if you're trying to buy a card for me and you're making a strong offer and you know, you tell me to work with you and I say I don't have to work with you and don't take it personally.
- 10:23[SPEAKER_04]: Just a lot going on.
- 10:24[SPEAKER_04]: So I apologize.
- 10:26[SPEAKER_04]: This is funny.
- 10:27[SPEAKER_01]: This is
- 10:28[SPEAKER_01]: No, just kind of to wrap it up, you know, Hamhouse stuff is good, man, on the personal front.
- 10:32[SPEAKER_01]: We've hired two new salespeople at early oak at my insurance agency.
- 10:36[SPEAKER_01]: And now we are just screaming right now.
- 10:38[SPEAKER_01]: So there's a lot of things going on in my life where it seems like everything's really good.
- 10:43[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm just making the decision on where to tap in.
- 10:46[SPEAKER_01]: I think that kind of mom mentality this year is don't say yes to everything but say yes to the key things.
- 10:53[SPEAKER_01]: And so that's where I'm trying to be super strategic in my personal life and in cards about not saying yes to everything but saying yes to the right things.
- 11:01[SPEAKER_01]: And so that's kind of my mantra for 26 for Ham Health as we roll in.
- 11:04[SPEAKER_01]: So boys and girls ladies and gentlemen listeners of the SportsGuard CEO podcast this
- 11:08[SPEAKER_01]: This is the episode where we're talking about off season opportunities and we brought RM on board because RM is the guru of all things baseball and so we're going to break this into a couple of segments for our listeners to really attach to and I'm going to break those out for us here.
- 11:21[SPEAKER_01]: What we're going to do is we're going to let RM talk about guys that he likes.
- 11:25[SPEAKER_01]: And he's going to ask the CEOs what we think about those guys as it relates to the card market.
- 11:31[SPEAKER_01]: Then we're going to flip this thing around and we're going to talk about prospects that we like and ask arm if it thinks that their skill sets match it up to the card prices.
- 11:39[SPEAKER_01]: And then we're going to wrap it up with kind of this rapid fire value within these kind of perennial all-star Hall of Fame quality players.
- 11:48[SPEAKER_01]: And just see if there's any opportunities out there for you guys in the offseason.
- 11:51[SPEAKER_01]: So
- 11:52[SPEAKER_01]: We're looking forward to this, but RM, that being said, man, we're going to give you the mic and let you kind of start throwing some names out at us.
- 11:59[SPEAKER_00]: I think a couple of clear ones right off the bat, Gunnar Henderson for multiple reasons.
- 12:03[SPEAKER_00]: I'm really interested in like what the market has done in the last year because of course right out of the gate and as like one of the top prospects and baseball, I don't think there was any shortage of hype around of any validated that hype immediately.
- 12:16[SPEAKER_00]: Even last year with not a bad season by any means, but like for a guy who
- 12:20[SPEAKER_00]: You know, as a potential MVP candidate, I think moving into his prime.
- 12:24[SPEAKER_00]: I think it was a little bit of a disappointment, but it was disappointing for the whole team.
- 12:27[SPEAKER_00]: And I think that's the other side of it, too, that I'm always trying to gas.
- 12:30[SPEAKER_00]: The grasp is like, how much does team like relevance help?
- 12:34[SPEAKER_00]: And it seems like a decent amount if they make a run to the playoffs.
- 12:36[SPEAKER_00]: The Orioles have clearly made their team a lot better.
- 12:39[SPEAKER_00]: They've been more aggressive than they've been in really any offseason.
- 12:42[SPEAKER_00]: Since Gunners been called up.
- 12:43[SPEAKER_00]: I can confidently say there's no guarantees in baseball, but I can confidently say that I believe Gunner Henderson's going to be far better next year.
- 12:50[SPEAKER_00]: And the ceiling is still MVP, right?
- 12:52[SPEAKER_00]: Like there's not a lot of guys with the ceiling is MVP, is that it's very good to say about it.
- 12:57[SPEAKER_00]: On it.
- 12:58[SPEAKER_01]: is that legit statement?
- 13:00[SPEAKER_01]: The ceiling is MVP.
- 13:01[SPEAKER_01]: You really believe that.
- 13:02[SPEAKER_00]: I really do believe that.
- 13:03[SPEAKER_00]: It's going to be hard because of like Aaron judge, but Aaron judge is not getting any younger, right?
- 13:09[SPEAKER_00]: So I do think that within Gunnar Henderson's career is 24 years old, by the way, it doesn't turn 25 until the end of June.
- 13:15[SPEAKER_00]: At the time, Gunner Henderson hangs up the cleats.
- 13:18[SPEAKER_00]: He's either going to get really close to winning one or he wins one.
- 13:20[SPEAKER_00]: And I always say with MVP, it's tough because a lot of it's circumstantial.
- 13:24[SPEAKER_00]: You can have an MVP season and it just wasn't the right year, because somebody else had a freaking way to look at Cal Rally.
- 13:30[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, we just saw that, right?
- 13:31[SPEAKER_00]: Like, Cal, what may never win an MVP now, but he had an MVP Cal over season, right?
- 13:36[SPEAKER_00]: So, I think Gunner is going to have MVP Cal over season through his career.
- 13:41[SPEAKER_00]: And now you put him in this lineup where,
- 13:43[SPEAKER_00]: You know, there's some more right-handed measures.
- 13:45[SPEAKER_00]: He has more protection.
- 13:46[SPEAKER_00]: And again, he wasn't bad last year.
- 13:48[SPEAKER_00]: The underlying data is fantastic.
- 13:50[SPEAKER_00]: If the Orioles are a team that let's say they get bounced in the ALCS.
- 13:54[SPEAKER_00]: And Gunner, you know, is, let's just to be conservative, finishes like eighth and MVP voting.
- 14:00[SPEAKER_00]: But was an all star really good year.
- 14:02[SPEAKER_00]: Where do you, where do you see his market going from where it is right now?
- 14:05[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not going to be going to, he's clearly the best player on the Oreos in that ALCS run.
- 14:09[SPEAKER_01]: So, so, for, for reference point for our listeners here, we're talking about Gunner Henderson.
- 14:13[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 14:14[SPEAKER_01]: So, Gunner Henderson's high price point, the highest value that his base, Bowman Auto PSA 10 has ever sold for.
- 14:23[SPEAKER_01]: was in the summer of 2024 when he was in the middle of that MVP candidacy.
- 14:28[SPEAKER_01]: The card was trading and selling at $1,600.
- 14:31[SPEAKER_01]: That's his peak.
- 14:32[SPEAKER_01]: Very consistently at $1,400 around that same time.
- 14:35[SPEAKER_01]: The peak was $1,600.
- 14:37[SPEAKER_01]: Where do you boys think his PSA 10 based auto is selling at right now?
- 14:40[SPEAKER_01]: Right now.
- 14:41[SPEAKER_01]: Yep.
- 14:42[SPEAKER_01]: Base auto.
- 14:44[SPEAKER_01]: Yep.
- 14:47[SPEAKER_01]: 70.
- 14:48[SPEAKER_01]: I was going to guess 600.
- 14:49[SPEAKER_01]: Yep.
- 14:49[SPEAKER_01]: So right in the middle of you to six 85 was the last comp.
- 14:53[SPEAKER_01]: So he's half the value he was during his MVP run.
- 14:57[SPEAKER_04]: I think I think Gunner's a buy right now 1000% he's a buy.
- 15:03[SPEAKER_04]: But he started off the year injured last last year.
- 15:06[SPEAKER_04]: Got off to his slow start.
- 15:08[SPEAKER_04]: Like I agree with arm.
- 15:09[SPEAKER_04]: He's still got that that ability.
- 15:11[SPEAKER_04]: Forget Aaron George.
- 15:13[SPEAKER_04]: Aaron
- 15:16[SPEAKER_04]: when one injury away from, you know, not being an MVP, like he's had in the past, like the Orioles have had this downfall that people had these high expectations for.
- 15:27[SPEAKER_04]: It's our answer question.
- 15:28[SPEAKER_04]: Like, I think team does play into it.
- 15:29[SPEAKER_04]: Like, if a team isn't in a drought when they have these high expectations and then they go lower, and the guy's not having the year that they should, but he's still having a decent year, they kind of get forgot
- 15:40[SPEAKER_04]: but if we believe the Orioles are on the up and up and they have made improvements and they are going to compete.
- 15:45[SPEAKER_04]: Gunners are going to have a full healthy season.
- 15:47[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, he's 100% a pie to me, especially given the numbers match it shared of where that.
- 15:51[SPEAKER_04]: You might not get back to that $1,600 level even if he's on the MVP route, but it's going above 1000.
- 15:59[SPEAKER_04]: That's for sure.
- 16:00[SPEAKER_00]: And something that always likes to talk about it, you talk about card fatigue, prospect fatigue.
- 16:04[SPEAKER_00]: And even when guys graduate from prospect status, I see it not only just in the hobby, but just like in people's reactions to the player, I talk about Dominguez as a guy that like, now people are like, oh, he's a boss, it's over.
- 16:15[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 16:16[SPEAKER_00]: He's still so young, it's just because people are sick of hearing about him since he was 16 years old.
- 16:20[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think he's ever going to be, you know, what the unfair expectations were placed on him more, but it could be a really solid player for a long time.
- 16:27[SPEAKER_00]: Gunner Anderson's a different story because he's produced every single year and he's really good, but I also think there's some fatigue with Gunner where people don't, it's like the NBA effect, or people don't realize he's still just 24 years old.
- 16:37[SPEAKER_00]: And like, that's a guy that could continue to get better.
- 16:40[SPEAKER_00]: Like, just for example, I think he's a month younger.
- 16:42[SPEAKER_00]: Gunner Anderson's a month younger,
- 16:46[SPEAKER_00]: And that's not even like Spencer Jones slander just sometimes you need those reminders of like, wait, this guy's young, he's still on time.
- 16:53[SPEAKER_00]: And so I think we see these Spencer Jones numbers.
- 16:55[SPEAKER_04]: We'll be talking on the other side of the gunner.
- 16:56[SPEAKER_04]: Let's, let's look back to real quick, not to not to hone a gunner for the whole episode or anything, right?
- 17:01[SPEAKER_04]: But let's just like think that too.
- 17:02[SPEAKER_04]: What Matt just said in 2024 in the middle of the season, it was doing 1600, what was the reason for that?
- 17:08[SPEAKER_04]: Like, we're, he had hype, right?
- 17:10[SPEAKER_04]: So the hype was it because people thought he was going to be Bobby Witt and he was on this MTP track.
- 17:15[SPEAKER_04]: Like, what was the reason for that hype?
- 17:18[SPEAKER_04]: Was it the Orioles were good on top of him having a monster year?
- 17:21[SPEAKER_00]: I think it was both those things.
- 17:23[SPEAKER_00]: The Orioles were good.
- 17:23[SPEAKER_00]: You had this young core that was like,
- 17:25[SPEAKER_00]: Just intoxicate like you were so excited about this new Oreos young core they're going to be a dynasty right and I think I think that's a big part of what is going to mark it too is like it's not just gunner.
- 17:36[SPEAKER_00]: It's been the Oreos is a whole great.
- 17:39[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know about three.
- 17:40[SPEAKER_00]: that now comes from and now they've got pitching for once.
- 17:45[SPEAKER_00]: I think this is a much better teen, but I think that's a big part of it, too, is like, oh, I thought this was going to be a dynasty and it's not.
- 17:54[SPEAKER_03]: And so here's the other angle here.
- 17:56[SPEAKER_03]: I'm going to give you all the other side of the coin.
- 17:58[SPEAKER_03]: I love where Gunner could potentially go, but you look at Gunner and you look at Corbin Carroll, the less than a year apart.
- 18:05[SPEAKER_03]: You look at the years they just produced last year.
- 18:07[SPEAKER_03]: Look at what they've done in the past.
- 18:08[SPEAKER_03]: You look at Corbin Carroll, who last year hit 14 more home runs, had more stolen bases, had more RBIs and their batting averages within 15 points of each other.
- 18:17[SPEAKER_03]: And once playing gold gloves in her field, once moved to third base, you know, I mean, so in my mind, in my mind, I feel like
- 18:25[SPEAKER_03]: I feel like Gunner's there's two different results there, right?
- 18:28[SPEAKER_03]: I feel like Gunner could be and you talk about price points at Bowman.
- 18:31[SPEAKER_03]: Gunner's still hot and more highly regarded than Corbin currently in the card market.
- 18:36[SPEAKER_03]: Really?
- 18:36[SPEAKER_00]: I could see.
- 18:37[SPEAKER_03]: Yes.
- 18:38[SPEAKER_03]: Wow.
- 18:39[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 18:39[SPEAKER_03]: I could see Gunner potentially.
- 18:42[SPEAKER_03]: There's two ways.
- 18:42[SPEAKER_03]: I see him either flying up in another MVP type season.
- 18:46[SPEAKER_03]: I can see him being up 50, 60, 70%.
- 18:48[SPEAKER_03]: Or I could see him down at 5k on a PSA 10 by the end of the season.
- 18:51[SPEAKER_03]: That's my opinion.
- 18:52[SPEAKER_03]: I think Gunnar's the ultimate coin flip.
- 18:55[SPEAKER_03]: If you believe in him, you could at you absolutely rake next year, but I think there's one to two results.
- 19:01[SPEAKER_03]: I don't think he stays where he's at because he's in one of those maker-break years with collectors.
- 19:05[SPEAKER_03]: So my opinion on Gunnar Henderson is the ultimate card flip.
- 19:08[SPEAKER_03]: If he hits, I think he's 60-70% up.
- 19:10[SPEAKER_03]: I think if he's down, I think he's down 30-40%.
- 19:13[SPEAKER_01]: Let me, let me kind of break some numbers down for you guys.
- 19:15[SPEAKER_01]: It's a great conversation.
- 19:16[SPEAKER_01]: I think we use this as like a platform for the future, you know, for our listeners here under Henderson when he debuted as the number one Major League prospect.
- 19:26[SPEAKER_01]: This was in the 2023 going into 2023 season.
- 19:29[SPEAKER_01]: We actually owned an orange is one of the biggest wins we've ever had on a single card at that juncture his PSA 10 base was doing $700.
- 19:38[SPEAKER_01]: So at debut, a PSA 10 base of Gunner Henderson, the number one prospect was doing 700 bucks.
- 19:43[SPEAKER_01]: That season when he struggled, if you remember, he should really struggled the middle of that season.
- 19:48[SPEAKER_01]: Crisis fell down to 250 bucks, okay?
- 19:51[SPEAKER_01]: So you saw almost a third of the value there, the retreat value.
- 19:56[SPEAKER_01]: Then in the off season of that year, he started to rebound, got back up to 400, got back up to 500.
- 20:02[SPEAKER_01]: the spring training of 2024 ahead of his big season, he was trading at $500.
- 20:08[SPEAKER_01]: He'd come back to $500.
- 20:10[SPEAKER_01]: And then that year we saw it peak out right at the $1400 number and now it's retreated back down to seven.
- 20:16[SPEAKER_01]: So two year point and two our listeners, Gunner is a great case for a number one prospect to see how their price point, volatility fluctuates with performance.
- 20:25[SPEAKER_01]: You've seen him 700, 1,250, 1,500, 1,700.
- 20:31[SPEAKER_01]: He's gone all over the place.
- 20:32[SPEAKER_01]: So Gary, I love what you said there.
- 20:34[SPEAKER_01]: It's a Maker Break year.
- 20:35[SPEAKER_01]: He's either going up to the $1,000 plus range as a perennial guy, or he's going to retreat a little bit.
- 20:42[SPEAKER_01]: So anyway, good thoughts.
- 20:44[SPEAKER_03]: One other one other quick touch on that gunners war last year was 5.3, Corbin's was 5.8, and then I'll think either one of them had probably the years that we thought that they would have or should have, and they still almost produced six or seasons.
- 20:58[SPEAKER_03]: So that tells you how good these guys are at 24, 25 years old.
- 21:01[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and that's the funny part as you mentioned the hobby like fluctuation of like if he doesn't have the take a step forward this year Like the hobby may go on in but his floors a player is so high and that's a part that sometimes all all struggle to separate Because I'm like oh, he's so safe it's like all the hobby doesn't always like safe So now that and that's part of what I'm kind of getting there and I'll also leads into a couple of the other names.
- 21:22[SPEAKER_01]: I'm gonna throw it to you So real quick on the Corbin Carroll thing just so our listeners can know his last PSA 10 based auto sales $400
- 21:29[SPEAKER_01]: just 6.85.
- 21:31[SPEAKER_03]: Let's complete each player with this thought this was fun last week.
- 21:35[SPEAKER_03]: So let's go around table.
- 21:36[SPEAKER_03]: We got Corbin Carroll.
- 21:38[SPEAKER_03]: We got Gunner Henderson.
- 21:39[SPEAKER_03]: Let's get a consensus.
- 21:40[SPEAKER_03]: Are they higher or lower this time next year?
- 21:43[SPEAKER_03]: We have this conversation around the group.
- 21:45[SPEAKER_03]: So we'll go Corbin and Gunner Matt start us off.
- 21:48[SPEAKER_01]: man.
- 21:48[SPEAKER_01]: I actually think I think Corbin, I think both my personal take is both her lower this time next year.
- 21:55[SPEAKER_00]: I was I think you guys know better about the hobby reaction, but like feel like if Corbin's that low, what's crazy is that's another guy that his dealing is one of the best you know more dynamic players and baseball, which is it's shocking to see.
- 22:07[SPEAKER_00]: the market worked out, maybe that's the team just, you know, not quite performing the way that people thought, you know, wanted to see them on the big stage, but I feel like both are going to have better years next year.
- 22:16[SPEAKER_00]: So that's the only part I can really speak to is I think both that better years, but I don't know about how much I think there's there's two sizes.
- 22:24[SPEAKER_04]: I don't know how a potential lockout is going to affect the market.
- 22:27[SPEAKER_04]: So putting that aside, pretending there's no lockout or anything and no market effect, which is going to happen, but I think they're both
- 22:36[SPEAKER_03]: going higher just because I believe in both the players and I believe in this card market right now I believe this market is super strong.
- 22:42[SPEAKER_03]: Gunner again was 22nd last year in war on as one of his worst seasons.
- 22:46[SPEAKER_03]: Corbin Carroll was 14th in war and all major league baseball and I think they got a war tank.
- 22:52[SPEAKER_04]: War is a good war and absolutely nothing.
- 22:54[SPEAKER_01]: I like it.
- 22:56[SPEAKER_01]: Here's a final thought there too.
- 22:58[SPEAKER_01]: I just, I question whether or not those guys have superstar status within the MLB with who you're seeing as the superstars in the sport.
- 23:06[SPEAKER_01]: Like can they, can they garner the superstar status to get them in such demand that their values go up?
- 23:13[SPEAKER_01]: That's just my, that's my question with Corbin Carroll.
- 23:16[SPEAKER_01]: He's five foot four, but he's really fast.
- 23:18[SPEAKER_01]: He has pop for being five foot four, but he's still five foot four.
- 23:22[SPEAKER_01]: He's not six foot seven.
- 23:24[SPEAKER_05]: I hear you.
- 23:26[SPEAKER_01]: Whatever, I don't know.
- 23:26[SPEAKER_05]: He's got a cool.
- 23:29[SPEAKER_04]: No, Matt, I hear you.
- 23:30[SPEAKER_04]: I hear that.
- 23:31[SPEAKER_04]: I hear you on that respect from a super star perspective.
- 23:33[SPEAKER_04]: I think Connor has that written all over him.
- 23:35[SPEAKER_04]: That potential, like all over it.
- 23:37[SPEAKER_04]: Like, and it can be like that for him, I think.
- 23:40[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I think some people were spooked by the shoulder stuff with Corbin.
- 23:43[SPEAKER_00]: It's been a little recurring, too.
- 23:44[SPEAKER_00]: And you see him hit the IL and take a swing and kind of hold his shoulder and it happens a few times and then all of the sudden, I think you start to make a more aggressive investment elsewhere.
- 23:53[SPEAKER_00]: So I have to get that one.
- 23:54[SPEAKER_01]: have another fun card nerd thing for our listeners.
- 23:57[SPEAKER_01]: Grated copies of Corbin Carroll's auto versus population I'm talking about versus Gunner Henderson.
- 24:04[SPEAKER_01]: Corbin Carroll, I just looked it up, has 188 graded copies.
- 24:09[SPEAKER_01]: Gunner Henderson has 1447.
- 24:11[SPEAKER_01]: Wow.
- 24:13[SPEAKER_01]: So there's more availability of Gunner 2 when you look at that.
- 24:16[SPEAKER_01]: So anyway, food for thought when doing your research.
- 24:19[SPEAKER_01]: All right, let's move on there.
- 24:20[SPEAKER_03]: Another player I want to throw out there for RMR quick.
- 24:23[SPEAKER_03]: Julio Rodriguez.
- 24:25[SPEAKER_01]: Hang on, hang on.
- 24:26[SPEAKER_01]: This is his segment to ask us, man.
- 24:29[SPEAKER_00]: Hold your horses, farmer.
- 24:31[SPEAKER_00]: Hold your horses.
- 24:32[SPEAKER_00]: Go rapid fire on these here.
- 24:34[SPEAKER_00]: But this is another unique circumstance that Colonel I've talked about.
- 24:38[SPEAKER_00]: Kyle Tucker has become underrated.
- 24:40[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.
- 24:41[SPEAKER_00]: It wasn't the best year ever.
- 24:42[SPEAKER_00]: He tried to play through like a fractured hand and he still like go look at the numbers.
- 24:46[SPEAKER_00]: He put up another really good year despite that despite being horrible for a month trying to play through that because it's a contract year.
- 24:53[SPEAKER_00]: He's going to get paid.
- 24:54[SPEAKER_00]: Whether it's 300 million.
- 24:55[SPEAKER_00]: Where is it?
- 24:57[SPEAKER_04]: What was that?
- 24:58[SPEAKER_04]: The question to me is where who pays him?
- 25:01[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, so that was gonna be my thing.
- 25:02[SPEAKER_00]: What is the biggest variable in Kyle Tucker's card market?
- 25:06[SPEAKER_00]: Where he signs, how he performs next year?
- 25:08[SPEAKER_00]: I know these all matter.
- 25:10[SPEAKER_00]: Where he signs, how he performs next year or how big the contract is.
- 25:13[SPEAKER_00]: That's my question.
- 25:14[SPEAKER_04]: I don't think the contract has any effect on it personally.
- 25:18[SPEAKER_04]: I think the immediate effect, I think it's where he signs.
- 25:21[SPEAKER_04]: Like, for example, I think if he signs with the Toronto Bluges, I don't think it does anything.
- 25:25[SPEAKER_04]: Like,
- 25:26[SPEAKER_04]: I don't think it does anything significant from a positive perspective to his market.
- 25:31[SPEAKER_04]: If he signs with the New York Mets or the, you know, New York Yankees or something, yeah, I think it has a significant effect immediately.
- 25:37[SPEAKER_00]: Is that thing about like, I see the discourse around him even beyond the hobby and it's like, how he doesn't do one thing particularly great in this and that and it drives me up a wall because he does everything really well.
- 25:46[SPEAKER_00]: So.
- 25:47[SPEAKER_00]: And that can be a really, really good baseball player.
- 25:49[SPEAKER_00]: And you know, it's not your Hall of Fame gallery player.
- 25:51[SPEAKER_00]: So his market, I imagine, let out some steam given the way the year went for him.
- 25:56[SPEAKER_00]: But again, this is the top free agent, essentially.
- 25:59[SPEAKER_00]: And I guy that I think is going to have a huge year anyways.
- 26:02[SPEAKER_00]: So following that up, if he has, you know, a really solid year.
- 26:07[SPEAKER_00]: is his market is not going to wiggle that much anymore.
- 26:10[SPEAKER_01]: Here's a thought real quick on this.
- 26:12[SPEAKER_01]: You'll be shocked at this.
- 26:13[SPEAKER_01]: Take out the last his last sale of a P it's a 10.
- 26:16[SPEAKER_01]: It did 400 bucks, but it was an outlier.
- 26:19[SPEAKER_01]: The last few before that, 250, 285, whatever.
- 26:23[SPEAKER_01]: So he's trading, he's trading at $250 to $283,000 on his first brim and all this.
- 26:28[SPEAKER_01]: So he's less than, you know, Corbin Carroll.
- 26:31[SPEAKER_01]: But here's the deal.
- 26:32[SPEAKER_01]: His draft class his year was 2015 where Carroll and Gunners 2019.
- 26:38[SPEAKER_01]: So you do not have relevancy, you know, to his card price with his release year.
- 26:44[SPEAKER_01]: And that plays a huge, huge role with these guys.
- 26:47[SPEAKER_01]: because the card market was so different back then when he first came out, guys were buying these cards for 20 bucks, you know, or whatever it is.
- 26:55[SPEAKER_01]: And so that's where Kyle Tucker is a really interesting thing.
- 26:58[SPEAKER_01]: Again, I don't think he has the sex appeal that the other guys have.
- 27:01[SPEAKER_01]: I think he's a ridiculous baseball player, but quite frankly, the card hobby doesn't care if you're a good baseball player.
- 27:06[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 27:06[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I'm having a similar take here.
- 27:09[SPEAKER_03]: I'm going to like in him to try Turner.
- 27:12[SPEAKER_03]: He's a phenomenal baseball player.
- 27:15[SPEAKER_03]: That's my right.
- 27:16[SPEAKER_03]: Hall of Famer.
- 27:17[SPEAKER_03]: And I think again, depending what kind of collector you are, your long-term collector, I think both are extremely undervalued long-term.
- 27:23[SPEAKER_03]: I think short-term Kyle Tucker's not going to get in the less.
- 27:27[SPEAKER_03]: And here's the other interesting name off the road out there.
- 27:30[SPEAKER_03]: And less he has a Francisco Lendor type year.
- 27:34[SPEAKER_03]: Lindor was stuck down there with Turner for a long time term was actually higher than Lindor and Lindor went into New York He had a huge season and his market flew up.
- 27:43[SPEAKER_04]: That's what it's gonna take for Kyle Tucker It's what's gonna take for he's gonna have to be in the MVP conversation to get those prices moving make sense Yeah, I think he yeah that he signs with the I don't know about some option, but he signs with the Yankees and the damage that he can do with the short porch I think it can have an effect
- 28:00[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I think that's that's the focus.
- 28:02[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, the lendor thing makes a lot of sense because it's again, it's kind of a similar scenario really, really good player.
- 28:07[SPEAKER_00]: The hobby doesn't quite value you feel maybe real quick on Tucker.
- 28:12[SPEAKER_01]: What's he going to have to do the bat 320 with 40 bombs.
- 28:15[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, I mean.
- 28:16[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, he's going to do like likely is that in the game that we're playing right now.
- 28:21[SPEAKER_04]: No, it's $3.40 like the answers.
- 28:22[SPEAKER_04]: Yes.
- 28:23[SPEAKER_04]: Yes.
- 28:23[SPEAKER_04]: That's what he has.
- 28:24[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, that's where it's going to take.
- 28:26[SPEAKER_00]: That's what it's going to take for anybody to pay attention to him.
- 28:28[SPEAKER_00]: He was on he was on pace for 40 bombs and 20, 24 before the fractured shin.
- 28:34[SPEAKER_00]: I do think he's a type of hitter where the environment very much matters, right?
- 28:37[SPEAKER_00]: And clearly, Ridley was not a very good environment.
- 28:39[SPEAKER_04]: But here's the thing, or I'm to that point, like, I love baseball.
- 28:43[SPEAKER_04]: I didn't freaking know that, you know what I mean?
- 28:44[SPEAKER_04]: Like, I didn't know, like, I don't remember.
- 28:47[SPEAKER_04]: I probably did it the time.
- 28:48[SPEAKER_04]: I had to remember it.
- 28:49[SPEAKER_04]: And that just says a lot about where it's not just my mindset, but like the average collector, like, I didn't give a shit.
- 28:57[SPEAKER_04]: You know, to mean that he was on pace for 40 home runs is the point, you know, that was also good.
- 29:02[SPEAKER_04]: We should, but we just don't the ashes.
- 29:04[SPEAKER_00]: So we're the ashes like, yeah, exactly.
- 29:06[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 29:06[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 29:07[SPEAKER_00]: And, and that part stinks.
- 29:08[SPEAKER_00]: But he's he you could argue he's almost on a Hall of Fame pace.
- 29:11[SPEAKER_00]: So he is.
- 29:13[SPEAKER_00]: If you hold it for what 10 years, that do you think people will come around once they realize that they're going to coupers.
- 29:18[SPEAKER_00]: Because we don't have enough proof of concept of that yet.
- 29:21[SPEAKER_00]: I feel.
- 29:21[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, with the way we do when you look at history, when you look at history, Hall of Famers.
- 29:27[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 29:27[SPEAKER_03]: Their cards are going to be there in the future.
- 29:29[SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to like, oh, man cards for that.
- 29:31[SPEAKER_00]: You look at blue holes.
- 29:32[SPEAKER_00]: You look at Bell tray.
- 29:34[SPEAKER_00]: You know, the main.
- 29:34[SPEAKER_00]: You like their garden.
- 29:36[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
- 29:36[SPEAKER_00]: So what was their point where like people, because I think those guys, you just always knew we're going to get in on the first ballot.
- 29:42[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think people look at Tucker and say future Hall of Famer yet.
- 29:45[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe they will in four years.
- 29:46[SPEAKER_00]: But is that priced into his market as well?
- 29:48[SPEAKER_00]: Future Hall of Famer?
- 29:49[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, probably not right now.
- 29:51[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I don't think so.
- 29:52[SPEAKER_01]: Not with the price being 200.
- 29:57[SPEAKER_04]: it will affect if he makes the whole of fame, but it's really going to be like a few scarce cards that really go up in value or hold the value for a guy like that.
- 30:09[SPEAKER_01]: So there are 141 PSA 10s of Kyle Tucker base auto.
- 30:14[SPEAKER_04]: I got to imagine a lot of PSS labs from 25.
- 30:17[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, for sure back then.
- 30:19[SPEAKER_01]: But the point being is that, you know, if you go over to BGS and
- 30:26[SPEAKER_01]: You know, you call it 600 that are gyms, you know, across the marketplace.
- 30:30[SPEAKER_01]: So again, right now, Tucker's not a guy that like is wildly collectible.
- 30:35[SPEAKER_01]: But as he becomes a Hall of Famer, there's plenty of guys that complete Hall of Fame sets and stuff, so it creates more of a demand.
- 30:41[SPEAKER_01]: And then people want to hold him who were Astros fans or cuffs fans or whatever.
- 30:44[SPEAKER_03]: And he still got ways to go.
- 30:46[SPEAKER_03]: Bring up Lendora as a recent memory.
- 30:48[SPEAKER_03]: I was buying Lendora Reds two and a half, three years ago for almost nothing.
- 30:53[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, almost nothing.
- 30:54[SPEAKER_03]: Orange is we're trading for almost nothing.
- 30:57[SPEAKER_03]: Lendora had a MVP, finished second in the MVP to show hey season two, a two seasons ago, and it changed his entire car market.
- 31:05[SPEAKER_03]: You look at Kyle Tucker, he's never had one of those seasons.
- 31:08[SPEAKER_03]: You know, and that's what he needs.
- 31:09[SPEAKER_03]: He's gonna have to have that push to super start him.
- 31:12[SPEAKER_03]: He's just a really damn good baseball player.
- 31:14[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 31:14[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, right arm, who's next one of the docket here?
- 31:17[SPEAKER_00]: So to that point, very fascinating market.
- 31:20[SPEAKER_00]: I just feel like I'm just curious more what your guys' expertise is.
- 31:24[SPEAKER_00]: It's another fun, but unique case study is like trout.
- 31:28[SPEAKER_00]: So trout, first bout Hallfamer, you know, I don't, you could have stopped playing two years ago and I think he's that, but he's also not done.
- 31:37[SPEAKER_00]: But there's also a new norm right of like, okay, you may not get the MVP trout, but I still believe that that guy with his talent, who he is and his experience, he could still have this new norm where he goes out there and he hits 30 homers a year.
- 31:49[SPEAKER_00]: It's all about just staying healthy, right?
- 31:51[SPEAKER_00]: And we'll people then forget a little bit about like, it's the pull whole thing, right?
- 31:56[SPEAKER_00]: Or it will people forget how elite he was at the top end when he's still reminding you by even if he just hits 30 homers a
- 32:04[SPEAKER_00]: for 25 plus for the next handful years.
- 32:07[SPEAKER_00]: He's going to eclipse 500.
- 32:08[SPEAKER_00]: He's going to do all these different things.
- 32:10[SPEAKER_00]: He's going to reach all these barriers that few have.
- 32:12[SPEAKER_00]: What do you think the card market looks like?
- 32:15[SPEAKER_00]: Is that one where, again, everyone knows he's a Hall of Famers.
- 32:18[SPEAKER_00]: He's going to finish his career with more than 90 war.
- 32:20[SPEAKER_00]: He's incredible.
- 32:21[SPEAKER_00]: He's one of the best we've ever seen.
- 32:23[SPEAKER_00]: And for me, I think that he's the kind of guy that when he's done playing, people start talking
- 32:30[SPEAKER_00]: There weren't very many like Mike Trout.
- 32:33[SPEAKER_00]: And Mike Trout at his best, there's very few that ever looked like that.
- 32:37[SPEAKER_00]: Like, I just feel like you grab onto his cards right now.
- 32:40[SPEAKER_00]: I don't see how you can go wrong.
- 32:41[SPEAKER_00]: Because we've already seen the most unfortunate circumstance.
- 32:44[SPEAKER_00]: And he's still, when he's on the field, showing that he can hit bombs.
- 32:48[SPEAKER_00]: Like, he had 26 last year.
- 32:50[SPEAKER_00]: I just, I think it's such an easy guy to root for, but also I just feel like you could just hold onto his cards now.
- 32:55[SPEAKER_00]: You could never play another game.
- 32:56[SPEAKER_00]: And it's, I just feel like it's a good investment, but I don't have the knowledge of the way the market
- 33:00[SPEAKER_00]: him over the years.
- 33:02[SPEAKER_01]: Well, I know that all these boys can flash plenty of stuff, but I did exactly.
- 33:06[SPEAKER_01]: We've done exactly what you said, Aaron.
- 33:08[SPEAKER_01]: We've got his ex-fractor, and we bought his tops gold.
- 33:11[SPEAKER_01]: And, you know, I know that trout's a friend of the show.
- 33:14[SPEAKER_01]: Of course, we had the opportunity to interview him, but trout card markets specifically.
- 33:19[SPEAKER_01]: is suffering from new shiny thing, new shiny thing, new shiny thing.
- 33:24[SPEAKER_01]: And everybody's looking at judge, everybody's looking at a tiny, everybody's looking at Connor, everybody's looking at holiday and Mike Trout is still Mike Trout, but people are losing interest in a card market side.
- 33:34[SPEAKER_01]: So he's come down to a very, very ridiculous value when you think about the availability of his cards.
- 33:40[SPEAKER_01]: Talk about cow tucker.
- 33:41[SPEAKER_01]: How many gyms did we say cow tucker had on a 600 or whatever?
- 33:45[SPEAKER_01]: Mike trout has 400 base auto gyms.
- 33:50[SPEAKER_01]: The last sale of his base auto was $8,000.
- 33:53[SPEAKER_01]: That's a PSA 10 of his base auto.
- 33:56[SPEAKER_01]: I excuse me, the last sale was $6,900.
- 33:58[SPEAKER_01]: The card ladder value right now is at 8 grand.
- 34:00[SPEAKER_04]: What did they do at P1?
- 34:02[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, at one time that that's where I was going to go at one time.
- 34:06[SPEAKER_01]: If you look at the same grade PSA 10 and you sort this by price the highest sale of a Mike trout PSA 10 based all the was $43,000.
- 34:15[SPEAKER_04]: It was probably it was probably polling it bought that.
- 34:18[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, you probably not lying, but that was February of 2022.
- 34:21[SPEAKER_01]: You know, and then that was an outlier you had 39 you had 26 you had 20 so in that peak your value right now is almost about a fifth of what it was.
- 34:32[SPEAKER_01]: And so I think Mike Trout is a very, very, very strong, long play, but I think trout unlike these other guys, he would rebound so quickly if he's healthy and he comes out of the gate and he starts hitting early.
- 34:45[SPEAKER_01]: You know what I mean?
- 34:46[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, his price is with yeah.
- 34:48[SPEAKER_04]: double overnight yeah he's proven himself from that to the point of like having that instant credibility to Matt's point of like he comes out the gates and he starts hit he doesn't need to this isn't like oh this is guy from real like it's like yeah shit my trout is back you don't I mean
- 35:03[SPEAKER_00]: It's just in dopamine for every baseball fan having managed our social medias and like if it when Mike trapped back and has three homers in five days, it's auto engagement.
- 35:12[SPEAKER_00]: Like people are fired up because it makes them happy to see one of the best ever do it, still doing it.
- 35:18[SPEAKER_01]: Do you think about what Tiger Woods did at the masters when he came back and he won the masters, right?
- 35:21[SPEAKER_01]: Like every single person in the sports world goes, oh my god, Tiger Woods.
- 35:26[SPEAKER_01]: Like he's as good as we thought he was.
- 35:28[SPEAKER_00]: But if he never did that in 10 years, this cards would probably still have just increased increased increase in value, because everyone would be remembering that he's the best.
- 35:35[SPEAKER_00]: Dude, look at what Philip Rivers just did.
- 35:38[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I'm a Homer because he graduated with me at NC State, but dude, he's a Hall of Fame guy.
- 35:44[SPEAKER_01]: He retired.
- 35:45[SPEAKER_01]: He come back and plays whatever three games.
- 35:47[SPEAKER_01]: He does it win a game, but everybody's going, yeah, he was actually pretty good.
- 35:51[SPEAKER_01]: So if that's Philip Rivers doing it, think about trout if he's still playing actively and has a ridiculous season.
- 35:58[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I love it.
- 35:59[SPEAKER_00]: I love it.
- 36:00[SPEAKER_00]: And then I've got two position lists like not position lists.
- 36:03[SPEAKER_00]: It's a little harsh because especially for Ben Rice, but I'm always interested in the defensive side of things because you guys reference shortstop centerfield those things and I understand how the hobby gravitate towards those dynamic positions in players that come with the position, but Ben Rice and Iván Herrera are guys that we had Iván Herrera on the top 100 list when no one else did.
- 36:21[SPEAKER_00]: So I just always die.
- 36:23[SPEAKER_00]: always for him even more.
- 36:24[SPEAKER_00]: And I've just always been one of my favorite bats.
- 36:27[SPEAKER_00]: And he's absolutely mashed.
- 36:29[SPEAKER_00]: Ben Rice very similarly, absolutely matches.
- 36:31[SPEAKER_00]: In terms of expected stats, versus the actual output, like Wolbe versus X-Welbe, there's some nuances, but generally speaking, like if you're one of the biggest gaps there, and everything else looks pretty good, you could, you could fairly say, a guy's been unlucky.
- 36:45[SPEAKER_00]: Ben Rice had a fantastic year,
- 36:48[SPEAKER_00]: his expected batting average was $2.95, so there's a 35 point gap there.
- 36:53[SPEAKER_00]: There was a 37 point gap in his wool buff versus ex wool buff, which was the fourth biggest gap.
- 36:58[SPEAKER_00]: So the fourth most unlucky hitter in baseball if you value that set.
- 37:01[SPEAKER_00]: And he's a New York Yankee to be honest, they don't have a ton of protection for judging that lineup.
- 37:06[SPEAKER_00]: And at this point, you could argue that Ben Rice is as good a protection as really anybody.
- 37:12[SPEAKER_00]: Just just ballpark for a left handed hitter and he can still catch a little bit too when they need him to We play some first base.
- 37:18[SPEAKER_00]: It's not like he's just de-hating Even her error is a little bit different.
- 37:21[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know where he's gonna play and obviously that team's not great But it's all relative, right?
- 37:24[SPEAKER_00]: I think both those guys are gonna mash next year and if they are like borderline all stars Well above average bats compared to where their market is now.
- 37:33[SPEAKER_00]: Is there any room for that type of player?
- 37:35[SPEAKER_04]: Well, I also been rice bun rice didn't have Bowman first photos
- 37:40[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, he had, he had a first, but not, not all of his, all the rest, 20, 25.
- 37:44[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, rookie card all the kind of like, show, hey.
- 37:47[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, Gary take take take it away.
- 37:51[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I was just going to liken it to Haroldo Perdomo, okay, who finished, you know, last year, within a ridiculous season and no one cared.
- 38:01[SPEAKER_03]: So, you know, I mean, no one cares about Ben Rice.
- 38:04[SPEAKER_03]: I've been her rare, I mean, is it a play to buy them?
- 38:09[SPEAKER_03]: make some money probably honestly if they have a big season in your right arm you could probably buy bin rice for nothing you might be able to double up on them oh if people could that I mean I and I think that is an interesting point those type of people are are a way to make money in the space I think long-term bin rice one day mean you know yeah
- 38:28[SPEAKER_03]: No one's going to care about Ben Rice and Ivan Herrera because if they don't care about Kyle Tucker They don't care about Ben Rice and I haven't heard.
- 38:34[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 38:35[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, that makes sense.
- 38:37[SPEAKER_00]: And then I got two more on that point to wrap up here on my end Why Langford has the dynamics skill set to be a superstar?
- 38:45[SPEAKER_00]: and another guy that it's been relatively disappointing.
- 38:49[SPEAKER_00]: I guess because there was such ridiculous expectations on him out of the gate, but this guy's turned himself into a good outfielder and now a guy that can actually play center field, which I don't know if he's going to do that how much for his team right now because of him and Carter, but like he can do it.
- 39:01[SPEAKER_00]: And I think that was a big question.
- 39:03[SPEAKER_00]: And he also grades out as, you know, now a well above average corner guy.
- 39:06[SPEAKER_00]: But this is potentially really special power speed combination.
- 39:09[SPEAKER_00]: And I think people forget that Langford barely played in the minor leagues, right?
- 39:13[SPEAKER_00]: You played 44 minor league games.
- 39:14[SPEAKER_00]: So 2024 was pretty much as minor league season as far as I'm concerned in developing and he was still good there.
- 39:20[SPEAKER_00]: And then 2025, it wasn't great, but it was better, literally in every department, defensively, offensively power, contact, everything.
- 39:28[SPEAKER_00]: So, I just feel like from that perspective, maybe a little bit more swingable as more walk.
- 39:32[SPEAKER_00]: He's 23 years old, 24 now, could be still a superstar, I think, with his skill set.
- 39:38[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm sure the market is cooled on him and has given his team, you know, also struggling a little bit as well.
- 39:44[SPEAKER_01]: So here's some data points I'm going to add to this.
- 39:46[SPEAKER_01]: White Langford last purchase price of a PSA 10 base auto, $202, right?
- 39:52[SPEAKER_01]: So a little bit less than Cal Tucker.
- 39:54[SPEAKER_01]: But I would buy white Langford before I would buy Cal Tucker because of the recent sea bias, because of relevancy to debut.
- 40:03[SPEAKER_01]: This is where white Langford could be Gunner Henderson repeat.
- 40:09[SPEAKER_01]: in 2026 for what Gunner Henderson was in 2024.
- 40:12[SPEAKER_01]: Gunner Henderson, you know what I mean?
- 40:14[SPEAKER_01]: He had a tough debut and then he came out and had that crazy run-up.
- 40:19[SPEAKER_01]: Wyatt Langford's a guy who will rebound quickly if he performs.
- 40:23[SPEAKER_01]: So if I'm throwing money on the table and I'm taking the crap stice and I'm rolling him, I am putting the money down.
- 40:29[SPEAKER_01]: on Langford ahead of guys like Tucker and even Gunnar Henderson personally.
- 40:34[SPEAKER_00]: That makes sense, especially with just the excitement around him that can already, just I still think be a re-sparked and everything.
- 40:41[SPEAKER_00]: But then the other one, Towers Soter Show, that's my last question because I think he's a really unique circumstance here.
- 40:46[SPEAKER_00]: So does Trump had a great year last year.
- 40:48[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously his cards, you know, market went up, first round pedigree, all that good stuff.
- 40:52[SPEAKER_00]: It signs this big extension now.
- 40:54[SPEAKER_00]: And I had him circled as a guy that I thought could break out even more so next year.
- 40:58[SPEAKER_00]: Like, I think could hit 30 plus homers.
- 41:00[SPEAKER_00]: No problem again.
- 41:01[SPEAKER_00]: Like, could push to 40 in that environment where he's hitting.
- 41:05[SPEAKER_00]: And he's turned himself into a good defender as well.
- 41:06[SPEAKER_00]: So from a war perspective in the leaderboards on Fangras, whatever you like to look at, he's going to be up there.
- 41:11[SPEAKER_00]: The does an extension like that affect the market at all for a guy like him, and then also like if you're thinking about a long-term hold that's a team that's not going anywhere anytime soon.
- 41:20[SPEAKER_00]: That's a fun core.
- 41:21[SPEAKER_00]: They're gonna go over to Vegas.
- 41:22[SPEAKER_00]: You know, they're gonna have a lot more eyeballs on them because MLB whether you want or not it's gonna force that on you because they want to show.
- 41:29[SPEAKER_00]: Well, how much of a success our biggest venture is but also think the team's gonna be pretty good.
- 41:33[SPEAKER_00]: And I think he's a big part of that.
- 41:36[SPEAKER_00]: Offensive friendly environment, and then more popular area of visibility.
- 41:41[SPEAKER_00]: I know something as market, but it's going to be curious what the SOTA's show market looks like to you guys without seeing any data points, right?
- 41:48[SPEAKER_04]: Like, I'd equate Tyler SOTA's show is a,
- 41:52[SPEAKER_04]: a hobby player to Kyle Tucker, in that I don't are just a performing 30, 40 homeruns.
- 42:01[SPEAKER_04]: I don't think people are going to care a whole lot.
- 42:03[SPEAKER_04]: Maybe they care right now a little more because of a recent see biased.
- 42:06[SPEAKER_04]: I also think on that team, there's just too much exciting stuff going on between Nick Kurtz and all the other young guys and Leo DeVreee on the
- 42:14[SPEAKER_04]: you know, on the up and up like regardless of performance, I just don't see it from a height perspective.
- 42:19[SPEAKER_04]: I just don't see it.
- 42:20[SPEAKER_04]: I think if he whatever high purity had, it's been had.
- 42:24[SPEAKER_04]: I think that's the peak in my opinion.
- 42:26[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I like in him to a guy like Matt Olson, who does a lot, hits a lot, plays a lot.
- 42:32[SPEAKER_03]: In his markets, had its moments when Matt Olson has huge seasons, his prices have still had huge swings.
- 42:38[SPEAKER_03]: And Matt Olson just came off another really solid season.
- 42:41[SPEAKER_03]: He's
- 42:41[SPEAKER_03]: That also is going to hit 500 home ruts and maybe a Hall of Famer one day and no one's talking about it.
- 42:45[SPEAKER_03]: So to strong could fit in that bucket.
- 42:47[SPEAKER_03]: He's got a long way to get there.
- 42:49[SPEAKER_03]: But I do want to go out to Wyatt and Langford.
- 42:51[SPEAKER_03]: I know Kurn's going to make fun of me for saying the word war again.
- 42:54[SPEAKER_03]: But the dude put together almost six or six more season last year, which is incredible.
- 42:58[SPEAKER_03]: You know for for really the stats that he put up.
- 43:01[SPEAKER_03]: But what's here's what's even more incredible as I'm sitting here diving in a live at Langford.
- 43:06[SPEAKER_03]: There has not been a true goal public sell on that card since April of last year.
- 43:10[SPEAKER_03]: So why his market is interesting is people are protecting his market.
- 43:16[SPEAKER_03]: They're not unloading him.
- 43:17[SPEAKER_03]: And to me, if you can get into a player where people aren't unloading him, that's a good place to be.
- 43:22[SPEAKER_03]: Because if he does pop off, his shit's going rockets.
- 43:25[SPEAKER_03]: And so that's an interesting player I think to be looking at.
- 43:29[SPEAKER_03]: because of that factor.
- 43:31[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, agree.
- 43:32[SPEAKER_03]: Go ahead, Matt.
- 43:33[SPEAKER_04]: Yes.
- 43:33[SPEAKER_04]: Yes.
- 43:33[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you to say we've coined a new phrase.
- 43:36[SPEAKER_01]: This shit's going rockets.
- 43:40[SPEAKER_04]: It's just going rockets.
- 43:41[SPEAKER_04]: No, I agree.
- 43:41[SPEAKER_04]: Everybody got in high on length for people are protecting it.
- 43:44[SPEAKER_04]: You know, that's what happens.
- 43:45[SPEAKER_01]: Well, here's here's the point right now.
- 43:48[SPEAKER_01]: White length for base auto PSA 10, $222 high sale, 1375.
- 43:55[SPEAKER_01]: Tyler Soaderstrom right now, currently trading at $150 for a PSA 10, his high sales 550.
- 44:02[SPEAKER_01]: So what's more likely, Soaderstrom getting back to peak or length for getting back to peak?
- 44:07[SPEAKER_01]: Give me length for it all day.
- 44:08[SPEAKER_01]: Give me length for it all day.
- 44:10[SPEAKER_01]: Like now, like if somebody selling length for it, go buy it.
- 44:12[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I was going to say it.
- 44:14[SPEAKER_04]: The fact that the peak of that was 1375 is actually lower than I thought it would be to be honest with you.
- 44:20[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I mean, you got you got Jackson holiday.
- 44:23[SPEAKER_01]: You got Jackson holiday, Ellie, guys like that that set the bar.
- 44:26[SPEAKER_01]: Langford came in right after them too.
- 44:29[SPEAKER_01]: And so that's where, you know, he has the ability to get back to that kind of realm because he's that kind of player.
- 44:36[SPEAKER_04]: Yep, he can get back to that for the whole season.
- 44:38[SPEAKER_01]: Yep.
- 44:38[SPEAKER_01]: All right, boys and girls, Aaron, thank you so much for, you know, throwing the names at us.
- 44:43[SPEAKER_01]: Now we get to turn back around and throw the names at you, but we got to find Gary first.
- 44:49[SPEAKER_00]: What just happened?
- 44:51[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know you in a way.
- 44:52[SPEAKER_01]: Now you're back.
- 44:53[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to do the transition.
- 44:54[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
- 44:55[SPEAKER_01]: I'm so man.
- 44:56[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you so much for throwing those names at us and now the boys get to kind of throw the names at you.
- 45:01[SPEAKER_01]: I know Gary is like a pent-up thorough bread over here on Kentucky Derby day and he's behind the stall ready to run Who have you got Baba?
- 45:11[SPEAKER_04]: I mean I'm in the Garrett before Gary starts.
- 45:14[SPEAKER_04]: I want to ask.
- 45:14[SPEAKER_04]: I want to question
- 45:16[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, he's still pin up.
- 45:17[SPEAKER_01]: Go ahead.
- 45:18[SPEAKER_04]: No, when I ask it, arm does Connor Griffin start to season in major leagues.
- 45:24[SPEAKER_04]: I don't think he does.
- 45:25[SPEAKER_04]: I hope he does because they they debut at city field.
- 45:28[SPEAKER_04]: And that would be freaking awesome to be able to see him in person.
- 45:32[SPEAKER_04]: And also chase that debut pass.
- 45:35[SPEAKER_00]: I think he's in the habit.
- 45:36[SPEAKER_00]: God, I think they're going to give him that pipe dream chance.
- 45:39[SPEAKER_00]: And I know it's like a kind of Pittsburgh want not came to start up there.
- 45:43[SPEAKER_04]: It's the question.
- 45:44[SPEAKER_00]: think I think they want to give in the offseason that they had that's what makes me think there's a chance otherwise I'd shut the door fully right like why would they just rush him up now given the way they behaved in the past well the invested a decent amount of money into to this roster especially for their standards and I think they want to try to show fans that hey we're we're trying to do something special this year they also don't really have a short stop.
- 46:04[SPEAKER_00]: Like, it's going to be Jared Tree, although there, it's a hold it down.
- 46:07[SPEAKER_00]: So like, it would be, I think it's, it kind of will have the opportunity to win it.
- 46:10[SPEAKER_00]: And it's, it's a little bit of an element that the other two examples I can think of were Volpi, who are it was a long shot and he just went nuts and earned it and Jordan Walker where it was a long shot and he went nuts and earned it.
- 46:20[SPEAKER_00]: But I think that's just coincidental.
- 46:22[SPEAKER_00]: I think if he has a crazy spring training because of the makeup, because of the work ethic, because of the floor, he's going to play great defense of the very least and be an elite runner.
- 46:32[SPEAKER_00]: You put him in the nine hole.
- 46:33[SPEAKER_00]: he's probably going to be the best nine-hinter and baseball still.
- 46:35[SPEAKER_00]: So I think he's got a chance.
- 46:37[SPEAKER_00]: But the tigers have just, or it's just me that the pirates have been so frustratingly slow with their guys that I'm always skeptical.
- 46:44[SPEAKER_03]: I got something for y'all on Connor Griffin.
- 46:46[SPEAKER_03]: You ever heard this song?
- 46:47[SPEAKER_03]: I'm on a boat.
- 46:48[SPEAKER_03]: You ever heard that song?
- 46:49[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 46:50[SPEAKER_03]: I'm going to buy yacht with all the money.
- 46:52[SPEAKER_03]: I'm going to make on Connor Griffin.
- 46:54[SPEAKER_03]: Okay, boys.
- 46:55[SPEAKER_03]: I'm buying every Connor Griffin in existence.
- 46:57[SPEAKER_03]: every single one arm.
- 46:59[SPEAKER_03]: I'm going all in.
- 47:00[SPEAKER_03]: We might not be calling me to Bowman Farmer after this because I might lose the farm on Connor Griffin if I'm wrong.
- 47:06[SPEAKER_03]: So I hope we're all right on Connor Griffin because Connor, baby, I'm all in.
- 47:10[SPEAKER_03]: I'm all in and I'm going to buy a boat after I'm done with this.
- 47:13[SPEAKER_03]: I'm going to be live streaming from a yacht.
- 47:16[SPEAKER_03]: out in great investment.
- 47:17[SPEAKER_03]: Sicily.
- 47:18[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 47:18[SPEAKER_01]: I think maybe it rice will be cheap.
- 47:20[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
- 47:20[SPEAKER_01]: We should go with Carolina.
- 47:22[SPEAKER_01]: I will say this.
- 47:23[SPEAKER_01]: Hamhouse making the prediction.
- 47:24[SPEAKER_01]: Connor will start in the big this year.
- 47:26[SPEAKER_01]: I'm feeling that.
- 47:27[SPEAKER_01]: So see you guys a city field.
- 47:29[SPEAKER_01]: They you are the one that's responsible for the invite in the ticket.
- 47:33[SPEAKER_01]: If I have those two things, I'll be there.
- 47:35[SPEAKER_03]: He started his first game to be in a city field.
- 47:37[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, and I'll tell you what, I'm going to text Connor be there.
- 47:40[SPEAKER_04]: I'm coming and I'm coming on the field.
- 47:42[SPEAKER_04]: And then you know what I'm going to do.
- 47:43[SPEAKER_03]: I'm going to rip that debut patch off of this chest and run away off of his arm sleeve and I know we're going in the we're going in the outfield we're getting outfield seats and we're catching that bomb baby.
- 47:53[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I'm going to run on this on the field shirt.
- 47:55[SPEAKER_03]: Listen, give the ball back to him.
- 47:56[SPEAKER_01]: Hey, prediction right now, if Connor debuts at city field and the CEOs are not there together, then we're never going to be friends again.
- 48:03[SPEAKER_03]: A great.
- 48:03[SPEAKER_03]: Well, I'm going to be there too.
- 48:05[SPEAKER_03]: I'll be there.
- 48:06[SPEAKER_01]: If you want to be there, I'm there.
- 48:09[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 48:10[SPEAKER_01]: We're not friends again.
- 48:11[SPEAKER_01]: So just FYI, FYI.
- 48:13[SPEAKER_01]: Alright boys, Bubba is in the Bubba is ready to run now.
- 48:16[SPEAKER_01]: He's got some names here.
- 48:17[SPEAKER_01]: We want to drop in the names back to RM.
- 48:20[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to talk about Major League Baseball players.
- 48:21[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to talk about some prospects and we're going to kind of rapid fire this, talk about some opportunities for us to look into in the offseason.
- 48:28[SPEAKER_03]: So Bubba, go ahead and start feeling like this isn't going to turn into a Major League episode since we're already an hour and 10 minutes in.
- 48:34[SPEAKER_03]: I think we may have to come back and do prospects later, because there's so many major leaders still to talk on.
- 48:39[SPEAKER_03]: Arm, I'm going to wrap it fire out here, okay, and boys y'all can, I think we all just go again by higher, or the higher are they lower types of situation here.
- 48:47[SPEAKER_03]: Starting off with one of my favorites, how to tremendous, tremendous debut in the got her Luke.
- 48:54[SPEAKER_00]: I love Keeshal.
- 48:55[SPEAKER_00]: I love Keeshal.
- 48:56[SPEAKER_00]: I was I should have put him down as as you got to ask you guys about his market I think we've always been on the high guys.
- 49:03[SPEAKER_00]: Autumn as a prospect.
- 49:04[SPEAKER_00]: I think he's super unique with the speed and now increased power as you mentioned he's been good at every single stop and was fantastic
- 49:12[SPEAKER_00]: My only concern is honestly health because there's been a little bit of injury seen now, but I mean, the guy is dynamic, man.
- 49:19[SPEAKER_00]: And I mean, he was on pace for what, like 18 homers, because 20 homers and 30 bags, maybe more than that 40 bags.
- 49:26[SPEAKER_00]: I love him as a purchase, so I think as you've just got to sit through a rebuild a little bit there in Minnesota.
- 49:30[SPEAKER_03]: Guys, what are y'all thoughts on Luke Kiesho?
- 49:31[SPEAKER_03]: And he thought to me, anything to add?
- 49:34[SPEAKER_03]: I don't hire a lower Luke Kiesho.
- 49:35[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I don't know enough about him.
- 49:37[SPEAKER_01]: You know what I mean?
- 49:38[SPEAKER_01]: And like the question there is, Adam Minnesota is he gonna have the star power to really generate the hype needed to rebound his cards.
- 49:45[SPEAKER_01]: But the only positive side you have is the fact that if he's playing, you know, then he's gonna have more eyes.
- 49:51[SPEAKER_01]: So naturally he would trend up and his price point is so low right now.
- 49:56[SPEAKER_01]: that I'd definitely see room for growth because he's only a 2023 draft pick.
- 50:00[SPEAKER_01]: So, you know, I'm sitting here looking at a PSA, you know, 10 of him doing like 150 bucks.
- 50:07[SPEAKER_01]: So, I definitely see up side there with that price point.
- 50:09[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, going back to a name that I mentioned earlier, uh, who we'll rotary guys arm.
- 50:14[SPEAKER_00]: Let's crazy about him is he's frustrating to me because I think he could he could be perennial they almost already is right a Paranel MVP candidate, but is swing mechanics just holding back slightly from being able to fully reach a ceiling yet he's so damn talented that he's able to make it work regardless
- 50:31[SPEAKER_00]: But that's why you see these ebs and flows in terms of the offensive output.
- 50:35[SPEAKER_00]: The defense is so elite that he's walking five war essentially.
- 50:39[SPEAKER_00]: So he's already on pace to be a hundred plus war player.
- 50:42[SPEAKER_00]: Like you start to do stat queries of like players that have done what he has done through his first four years and it starts to be like a rod and then like almost nobody else.
- 50:50[SPEAKER_00]: And so maybe trout.
- 50:52[SPEAKER_00]: I think I think Julio, he's
- 50:54[SPEAKER_00]: He's one of the more clear cut, it's weird to say for a 25 year old, but one of the more clear cut Hall of Fame track guys obviously needs to say healthy, but he hasn't even reached his ceiling yet, and even close to it, and he's 20, 20 every single year and should be 30, 30, 30, 30 last year.
- 51:09[SPEAKER_03]: Guys thoughts on who Leo's card market, correct?
- 51:12[SPEAKER_03]: He raise your hand.
- 51:13[SPEAKER_01]: Sorry, I was pointing to you.
- 51:14[SPEAKER_01]: You're above me.
- 51:15[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I'll say I'll think I'll say who we go, who look at has a lot of hype to live up to because of where he was when he finished second of that home run Derby back at the debut and his price point just went to the moon.
- 51:25[SPEAKER_01]: You know, he's at $800 for a bank dollar right now.
- 51:28[SPEAKER_01]: I definitely see some room to grow there.
- 51:31[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know that you're going to double your money there.
- 51:33[SPEAKER_01]: I see Julio as a guy that you could probably make 20% on, you know, going into the season, but I'd be a little bit skittish to hold it longer term than out of the first few weeks of the gate.
- 51:44[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I don't think he's down, it's down so much to where you're like, okay, he's at a 100% buy, but I think for a marginal return in the short term, I think he has the ability to to pop off even, you know, like he's shown in the past, but I don't think it's like a 100% you need to pounce on buy right now at 800 bucks.
- 52:04[SPEAKER_01]: But here's the thought too, is he peaked at a peak in the hobby.
- 52:09[SPEAKER_01]: So his PSA 10s were doing three grand consistently as a base auto.
- 52:15[SPEAKER_01]: So his peak was so high at the peak of the hobby, I could see him getting back to 1500.
- 52:21[SPEAKER_01]: When was that?
- 52:22[SPEAKER_01]: I don't see those price points.
- 52:24[SPEAKER_01]: 3 grand.
- 52:24[SPEAKER_01]: That was 20.
- 52:25[SPEAKER_04]: Exactly.
- 52:26[SPEAKER_04]: Different market too.
- 52:27[SPEAKER_04]: I agree with you.
- 52:28[SPEAKER_04]: I don't see it getting back to 3 grand regardless.
- 52:31[SPEAKER_04]: I could see it getting to the 50 grand close to 2 range.
- 52:34[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 52:35[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, he has that superstar kind of thing.
- 52:37[SPEAKER_01]: He has the swagger.
- 52:38[SPEAKER_01]: He has the international appeal.
- 52:40[SPEAKER_01]: Like I like everything about Julio.
- 52:42[SPEAKER_01]: The adults are a really good place to play right now.
- 52:44[SPEAKER_01]: The sea hulks are playing low on the football side.
- 52:47[SPEAKER_01]: The Mariners did well in the playoffs last year.
- 52:49[SPEAKER_01]: Like he's got the formula to see his price point increase.
- 52:53[SPEAKER_01]: So I think it's a fairly safe play, barring injury or whatever.
- 52:56[SPEAKER_01]: I just don't know that he's the guy that I'm gonna put all my chips in.
- 53:01[SPEAKER_03]: He's criminally underpriced at this point in my opinion.
- 53:04[SPEAKER_03]: When you look at his 499s,
- 53:06[SPEAKER_03]: He looked at his goals and oranges for any player of his caliber.
- 53:09[SPEAKER_03]: He looked at him compared to Judge and Otani and any of the other top players.
- 53:14[SPEAKER_03]: He's fraction of their price to me.
- 53:16[SPEAKER_03]: He's one of the best buyers in all baseballs.
- 53:18[SPEAKER_03]: Bar none.
- 53:19[SPEAKER_03]: Dude had almost a seven or last year.
- 53:20[SPEAKER_03]: He just turned 25 eight days ago to me.
- 53:24[SPEAKER_03]: Julio's one of the best buyers in all baseball.
- 53:26[SPEAKER_03]: And I'll leave it there.
- 53:27[SPEAKER_04]: But you compare in a daily while and and hold on, you're preparing it to like wait and no Tony is something.
- 53:33[SPEAKER_04]: She's not even a fraction of the player of Otani you know what I mean.
- 53:36[SPEAKER_04]: So it's like
- 53:37[SPEAKER_03]: I would put him I would put him at his age and where he's at for what he's what he's done when you look at comparison on when the people are going to look at his career 20 he's just turned 25
- 54:02[SPEAKER_03]: So I think to me, when you see guys usually like Julio, you see that kind of second, third, fourth year regression and he had a little bit of that and he's getting through that now.
- 54:12[SPEAKER_03]: He's kind of working through that.
- 54:14[SPEAKER_03]: I think Julio is one of those rare guys.
- 54:16[SPEAKER_03]: When you see guys with 30 home runs, 30 steals and gold glove defense, that's rare.
- 54:22[SPEAKER_03]: When you see those 30, 30 guys, 40, 40 guys.
- 54:25[SPEAKER_03]: In Julio is one of those.
- 54:26[SPEAKER_03]: I'm not saying he's show, hey, but when you're comparing the price, he's literally 150.
- 54:30[SPEAKER_03]: Show hey he's probably you know a third of Bobby with and I don't think he's a third of Bobby with the player in my opinion makes sense you can see that
- 54:40[SPEAKER_03]: Next player, uh, um, and this is a guy that was not even on my radar, we don't have to touch on much on these next three players.
- 54:47[SPEAKER_03]: They're kind of under the radar guys.
- 54:49[SPEAKER_03]: Dayland Lyle Moysus Belesteros in Jacob, Marcie, those three names.
- 54:55[SPEAKER_03]: You'll touch on me.
- 54:57[SPEAKER_00]: Lyle doesn't have a first, but I was just can't be saying, and I got to tell you a little cast strap right now, but I was able to get a gold shimmer.
- 55:05[SPEAKER_00]: right around like right after right before you got caught up and it was so cheap as I'll just grab it I'm gonna be upset if I don't have some wild shares because he's a guy that I definitely thought was undervalued as a prospect But he's been way better than I even thought yeah, he would be when I liked him as a prospect
- 55:21[SPEAKER_00]: Lyle is one of those where I just it'll be interesting to see what the ceiling is, but you can't really put one on him yet because he's still very young and he's still very athletic and he hits the ball really hard and he's reaching 23 for the entirety of the season I really like while on a team that yes they have James Wood.
- 55:37[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, Dylan Cruz is is I think starting to create some some red flags here and like there is a world where Damon, while depending on the Abram situation is well, but I think there's a world where Damon, while second best hitter on that team next year and I don't think that's that crazy to think about and you know,
- 55:55[SPEAKER_00]: Again, it's like a power speed combination, had this great year, still very young, clear piece of the future for them.
- 56:01[SPEAKER_00]: I love Lyle, and he's a guy that I was looking to scoop some up by a steros, the guy rakes, but I just don't know if he's going to slug enough to justify
- 56:11[SPEAKER_00]: the lack of defensive value, I think it's like a 40 grade catcher, but he can freaking hit.
- 56:18[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
- 56:18[SPEAKER_00]: It's a lot of doubles.
- 56:20[SPEAKER_00]: It's a lot of base hits.
- 56:22[SPEAKER_00]: He's going to hit for average.
- 56:23[SPEAKER_00]: He can probably still hit 20 plus homers.
- 56:25[SPEAKER_00]: And he has this cult following, especially with Cubs fans, you know, the calm mobile or he has probably one of the least athletic builds I've seen of an athlete, but he's so athletic in the box.
- 56:37[SPEAKER_00]: So I think there's just, like, kind of on unique aspect to him.
- 56:40[SPEAKER_00]: He's got that tree way in front of him.
- 56:42[SPEAKER_00]: But I'm curious to you guys, like, does that matter?
- 56:44[SPEAKER_00]: Like, or does he just for, like, a DH catcher type?
- 56:47[SPEAKER_00]: Does he need to be hitting, like, 40?
- 56:49[SPEAKER_03]: I think if the Cubs fans love them, that market.
- 56:51[SPEAKER_03]: They get support of themselves.
- 56:53[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, yeah, then they might because they love.
- 56:56[SPEAKER_03]: Like, it will happen to Pete Crow last week last year.
- 56:58[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, they love him.
- 56:59[SPEAKER_03]: What about Jacob Marsha, you avoided that one?
- 57:02[SPEAKER_00]: Sorry, I loved Marsha.
- 57:03[SPEAKER_00]: But Mike, I think with him is, I think he's going to be hard pressed to fully, like he has to be very perfect, because he doesn't hit the ball extremely hard.
- 57:11[SPEAKER_00]: He added some bat speed, and that was really, I think, a big part of his leap last year.
- 57:16[SPEAKER_00]: He's a grinder, he's a football player.
- 57:18[SPEAKER_00]: Like he's got that mentality.
- 57:19[SPEAKER_00]: I love the way he approaches the game.
- 57:21[SPEAKER_00]: The marlins are
- 57:22[SPEAKER_00]: Looking at him as is, you know, a key piece of their future.
- 57:26[SPEAKER_00]: I'm sure they'd love to potentially even extend him.
- 57:29[SPEAKER_00]: He's a really solid player that is going to get every day, reps, and it's going to be a key piece of what they're doing.
- 57:36[SPEAKER_00]: But, you know, my concern is, is if he doesn't fully replicate last year, just the market, just forget about him quickly.
- 57:44[SPEAKER_00]: Because I don't know if he's going to be able to maintain a
- 57:51[SPEAKER_00]: but I don't think he's gonna maintain a 480 slot.
- 57:54[SPEAKER_01]: You know, I think, I think about guys real quick, Gary.
- 57:57[SPEAKER_01]: I think about guys like Balseros and Marseille.
- 58:01[SPEAKER_01]: And you look at Luis, it was at Luis Arreyes and my pronounce in that right.
- 58:05[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, you know, I mean, dude, he hits, right?
- 58:08[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, he's right there, he hits, but he's not collectible.
- 58:11[SPEAKER_01]: You know, and so there's something interesting about guys like that.
- 58:15[SPEAKER_01]: And we've talked about this on the show before that don't have the superstar power.
- 58:18[SPEAKER_01]: Can you see a little bit of a tick up if they have a good start to the season?
- 58:21[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, of course you can.
- 58:22[SPEAKER_01]: But again, I don't think it has the sex appeal for somebody to just pop off and become a superstar.
- 58:27[SPEAKER_03]: Daylin Lyle to make him back to him real quick for we move on.
- 58:31[SPEAKER_03]: He's a free square right now.
- 58:33[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, I stumbled upon him a couple weeks ago.
- 58:35[SPEAKER_03]: He silently did bat at 300 last year in his debut to me's almost free.
- 58:40[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, you're looking at his price points.
- 58:42[SPEAKER_03]: That guy right there, I'm not telling you if you're a listener that you're going to mean go out, but I'm telling you if you buy a couple shares of them.
- 58:47[SPEAKER_03]: You might be really happy you did because he's dirt, dirty, I mean, for a guy that went out and produced.
- 58:53[SPEAKER_03]: So that's, that's, that's kind of I guess we can cap that next thing I want to do is kind of hit this whole group.
- 58:58[SPEAKER_03]: And everybody can kind of hit on this because I think all of us will have opinions on this next group.
- 59:03[SPEAKER_03]: And this is the group we've all had some shares of I know.
- 59:06[SPEAKER_03]: So, and it's a diverse group here.
- 59:08[SPEAKER_03]: So I'm going to start it off with Ronald Licunia.
- 59:11[SPEAKER_03]: The second name I'm going to mention is Junior Caminaro.
- 59:13[SPEAKER_03]: The third name I'm going to mention is James Wood.
- 59:16[SPEAKER_03]: The fourth name I'm going to mention is Jackson Churrio, and then the last name I want to mention in that same regard is Jackson Merrill.
- 59:24[SPEAKER_03]: So to recap, Acunia, Camino, Wood, Churrio in Merrill.
- 59:30[SPEAKER_03]: All of them prices are down from where they were at some point, and some of them significantly.
- 59:36[SPEAKER_03]: And this winter, all of them are down except for Camino, and Camino is still not up much.
- 59:46[SPEAKER_03]: on the card market, how you feel about those five names, because all of them are down in my opinion, could be buys again in 2026.
- 59:54[SPEAKER_03]: So I want to get tells of being on the player in the card market, and we can start with the Cunia Caminaria Wood, Cheerio Merrill, who ever wants to start it.
- 1:00:01[SPEAKER_01]: Current, I'm going to ask you the question this way.
- 1:00:04[SPEAKER_01]: If you had to pick one of those guys, one horse to ride, Junior Caminario.
- 1:00:08[SPEAKER_04]: I just, I think his market has never, I think his market, I mean, I'm a huge fan of his obviously, but I think his market's just never hit peak because of where he is.
- 1:00:18[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, I think eventually he's going to get a big contract, and it's not going to be from the raise, and it could be from the Dodgers and his market's just going to absolutely explode.
- 1:00:28[SPEAKER_04]: So, get it now.
- 1:00:29[SPEAKER_04]: I think he's just got superstar written all over him.
- 1:00:33[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, not that James Wood doesn't, I wear that.
- 1:00:36[SPEAKER_04]: He's other guys don't,
- 1:00:37[SPEAKER_04]: Junior showing what he did last year is capability and he put that in a big market like like Los Angeles with the Dodgers or something.
- 1:00:44[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, look out.
- 1:00:45[SPEAKER_01]: RM same question if you had to pick one horse to run.
- 1:00:48[SPEAKER_00]: And so the funny thing is the one thing I'll be aware of with with Camino's new ownership.
- 1:00:53[SPEAKER_00]: They may see that with the new ballpark coming up.
- 1:00:57[SPEAKER_00]: You know, wherever they're going to move this team, how that's all going to go.
- 1:01:00[SPEAKER_00]: They need to show something here.
- 1:01:01[SPEAKER_00]: And I mean, we did see the rays extend wander.
- 1:01:04[SPEAKER_00]: That's, of course, the one time they do it, it goes the way that it did.
- 1:01:07[SPEAKER_00]: But that's a kind of guy that you give a pre-armed deal to and say, like, what, let's do it.
- 1:01:11[SPEAKER_00]: I don't remember if coming here was a Boris client.
- 1:01:13[SPEAKER_00]: That's kind of the cheat code, though.
- 1:01:15[SPEAKER_00]: If you want a guy to get free agency and he's a Boris client, I promise you, he'll hit free agency.
- 1:01:21[SPEAKER_00]: So that's usually a good cheat because I don't think he's a board.
- 1:01:24[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I don't think so either.
- 1:01:26[SPEAKER_00]: But just for other instances, I think I'm still going.
- 1:01:30[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, Akunia is the, I think the most proven and talented player, I just, I think that the injuries too, too spooky for me, multiple knee, serious.
- 1:01:41[SPEAKER_00]: He might just be too explosive for his own body, he's crazy as that sounds.
- 1:01:44[SPEAKER_00]: Common arrows probably the best blend of like, and I hate to say forward the guy like him at foreign ceiling after the year that he had, but James Wood is a guy that I'm curious what the price point differential is between Wood and I love Jackson
- 1:01:58[SPEAKER_00]: and Mary was a guy that I'm holding a bunch of, I love the player would got overhaided in the second half when he understandably had some swing and miss challenges and still was productive though and still hit the living crap out of the ball at 22 years old.
- 1:02:11[SPEAKER_00]: I think he's going to be fine.
- 1:02:13[SPEAKER_00]: And I just think the ceiling of wood may be high as high as anybody in major league baseball, especially with the speed that he brings to the table as well.
- 1:02:20[SPEAKER_00]: But he doesn't have that personality.
- 1:02:25[SPEAKER_00]: And Kamenero is the dangling earring and the swagger and I just he he it's really fun to watch him and and I think fans gravitate towards him and that's not a knock everyone can go about their business their own way they're there to go score runs and produce the way you do that is you know in a lot of different ways, but from a collector standpoint, I do think Kamenero with the balance of everything or choreo is is kind of the the best the guy that I'd probably go go in on moving forward.
- 1:02:51[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah, I am.
- 1:02:53[SPEAKER_01]: My, I'm looking at Cheerio and James Wood right now, PSA 10 base autos doing right at 600 bucks, both of them.
- 1:03:01[SPEAKER_01]: I personally out of this list, gosh, it's tough.
- 1:03:04[SPEAKER_01]: I would, I would gravitate between Camino and Wood.
- 1:03:07[SPEAKER_01]: I think Wood has more pop off ability, just because he's six foot seven.
- 1:03:12[SPEAKER_01]: He's got the lefty swing.
- 1:03:13[SPEAKER_01]: He hits the ball so hard.
- 1:03:15[SPEAKER_01]: he does play the field really well think that like in him to like a baby giraffe like he's still growing into his body in some capacity at 23 years old but when he figures if he figures that thing out I mean he's a guy last year at the home run Derby I remember we talked about this I could see him hitting balls him and Kim and era have that thing where the ball just comes off the bat just differently.
- 1:03:35[SPEAKER_01]: You know, I, if I'm sinking my money into somebody, I'm probably going to sink my money in the James wood, just because I think the ceiling is higher, but Camanero, I don't know dude, he Camanero has that thing.
- 1:03:45[SPEAKER_01]: I feel like a mani Ramirez type thing with Camanero, I feel like, you know, kind of that that.
- 1:03:51[SPEAKER_01]: that dog kind of personality, that kind of, you know, like a little bit of a pit bull type, you know, going to be going to be in your face and going to just hit the crap out of the ball.
- 1:04:00[SPEAKER_01]: And, you know, at that's the way I feel, but I would lean toward wood personally.
- 1:04:04[SPEAKER_03]: Alright, I'll wrap this thought up on these five guys.
- 1:04:07[SPEAKER_03]: a pretty big dude.
- 1:04:08[SPEAKER_03]: So I'd write all five of them.
- 1:04:09[SPEAKER_03]: I could get all five of those horses.
- 1:04:11[SPEAKER_03]: Okay, I can get all all five of those bad boys to the level mall.
- 1:04:14[SPEAKER_03]: But I'm going to go in this order.
- 1:04:16[SPEAKER_03]: Ames would number one.
- 1:04:18[SPEAKER_03]: I think he's a mini Aaron judge.
- 1:04:19[SPEAKER_03]: In my opinion, I think if that's my prediction, I think we will see James would type.
- 1:04:25[SPEAKER_03]: Aaron judge type numbers out of James would one day.
- 1:04:27[SPEAKER_03]: I really believe that.
- 1:04:28[SPEAKER_03]: I think the dude, I mean, the way he hits the ball the opposite field right now.
- 1:04:37[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, he's a freak.
- 1:04:38[SPEAKER_03]: Number two on the list, I've got a Cunha.
- 1:04:41[SPEAKER_03]: The dude is when healthy is one of the best plays.
- 1:04:44[SPEAKER_03]: He's he's top three in all baseball right there with judge in Otani in my opinion.
- 1:04:49[SPEAKER_03]: And then in Soto, I guess.
- 1:04:51[SPEAKER_03]: Number three, Exyn Churrio.
- 1:04:54[SPEAKER_03]: I think Churrio is 21 years old still.
- 1:04:56[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, the guy is unbelievable for his age.
- 1:04:59[SPEAKER_03]: Caminera number four.
- 1:05:00[SPEAKER_03]: I love Caminera.
- 1:05:01[SPEAKER_03]: I think what were hurt Caminera in the hard market is its position a little bit and the team he's currently on may hyper him a bit in the years to come, but I think he's under price right now significantly and number five in the list and really only because I love the other four so much as Jackson Merrill, but I think Merrill is incredibly underpriced and he's gotten forgotten about because of the injury last year
- 1:05:29[SPEAKER_03]: Like as we're sitting here talking about that my conviction rating is even higher like I want to sink so much money into these guys right now I love these five guys.
- 1:05:37[SPEAKER_00]: I think you could really I don't think you can really all down.
- 1:05:39[SPEAKER_04]: I don't think you could really argue one way or another on it Like you can make an argument every one of you can make an argument like in different orders of what and like I won't fight it You know like the but like so I think they're all the point is this I think they're all good buys so but you can make an argument for any particular order in that
- 1:05:57[SPEAKER_01]: Well, the interesting thing is, you do have, you've got judge, you've got Otani, you've got Soto, you've got Acunia, right?
- 1:06:05[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I think they're probably clear cut for, you know, I don't know who else you would throw in that mix, but you've got the guys that are coming up next.
- 1:06:14[SPEAKER_01]: You know, in five years, who are we going to be saying are the judges, the Otanis?
- 1:06:19[SPEAKER_01]: You know what I'm saying?
- 1:06:21[SPEAKER_01]: And I think that's the question.
- 1:06:22[SPEAKER_01]: And that this group here provides some candidacy for that.
- 1:06:26[SPEAKER_01]: And I think that's where you have to have a little bit of foresight, and you have to understand what your hold-process is.
- 1:06:32[SPEAKER_01]: You know what I mean?
- 1:06:32[SPEAKER_01]: If you're buying a guy and you're trying to flip him in April, that's very different than if you're buying a guy and you want to flip him, you know, when your kid goes to college, you know what I mean?
- 1:06:41[SPEAKER_01]: Or at least in my case.
- 1:06:42[SPEAKER_01]: And that's four years down the road.
- 1:06:44[SPEAKER_01]: So I mean, that's kind of a different story there.
- 1:06:46[SPEAKER_01]: But I think all those names are really, really strong and certainly give credence to an exciting season as we head into the 2026 spring training, pitcher call, and then in the spring training.
- 1:06:56[SPEAKER_01]: All right, boys, we're going to end the show with a rapid fire from Bubba to the boys.
- 1:07:01[SPEAKER_01]: And then we're going to close up this episode on offseason bars, so Bubba, take it away.
- 1:07:05[SPEAKER_00]: All right, rapid fire.
- 1:07:06[SPEAKER_00]: Here we go.
- 1:07:07[SPEAKER_00]: You're on Alvarez.
- 1:07:08[SPEAKER_00]: I'm still a believer.
- 1:07:09[SPEAKER_00]: The injuries are, yeah, I don't want to be a hypocrite with a kudnya stuff, but hand wrist stuff.
- 1:07:14[SPEAKER_00]: He's too good.
- 1:07:15[SPEAKER_00]: When he's healthy, he's one of the best in the game.
- 1:07:17[SPEAKER_00]: Anybody on the flat?
- 1:07:18[SPEAKER_00]: I don't have the rest.
- 1:07:19[SPEAKER_00]: No, turn.
- 1:07:19[SPEAKER_04]: Nope.
- 1:07:20[SPEAKER_04]: He'd kill us.
- 1:07:21[SPEAKER_00]: No, he'd kill us.
- 1:07:22[SPEAKER_00]: No, he'd kill us.
- 1:07:22[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 1:07:22[SPEAKER_00]: All right Kyle Stowers risky, but he's the guy in Miami, obviously.
- 1:07:28[SPEAKER_00]: I just think there's some yellow flags as to whether he can repeat it at that level, all right negative negative for me, Richard Kern.
- 1:07:37[SPEAKER_04]: Nope.
- 1:07:38[SPEAKER_00]: Next.
- 1:07:38[SPEAKER_00]: I try to find a name.
- 1:07:39[SPEAKER_00]: This guy loves Jacob Wilson.
- 1:07:41[SPEAKER_00]: So for him, it's this is the difference.
- 1:07:44[SPEAKER_00]: It's like, I think the floor is so high.
- 1:07:45[SPEAKER_00]: That's why I like him as a baseball player.
- 1:07:47[SPEAKER_00]: The hobby doesn't give a crap about that.
- 1:07:50[SPEAKER_00]: So that seems to be my concern.
- 1:07:51[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think he's ever going to be that much better than what we saw.
- 1:07:54[SPEAKER_00]: And like in a world where like Zack Neto continues to be undervalued, I just think Wilson may just be undervalued.
- 1:08:00[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's too tough of an upside for me.
- 1:08:01[SPEAKER_03]: No, there's another, no, they're from Dick.
- 1:08:04[SPEAKER_03]: All right, next name on the list here, Bobby Witt Jr.
- 1:08:08[SPEAKER_00]: I, I think he's one of the most ridiculous players we've seen.
- 1:08:14[SPEAKER_00]: I think he's the coolest thing that we've seen, you know, they're just skill set to like, again, really, I mentioned A-Rot with William, like A-Rot, um, and, um, I, I don't, I was gonna ask you guys about him because I feel like he's just
- 1:08:29[SPEAKER_00]: can't hurt you.
- 1:08:30[SPEAKER_00]: 10 war is going to win his MVP is once judge gets out of the way too.
- 1:08:34[SPEAKER_01]: So I love I love I love win.
- 1:08:36[SPEAKER_01]: I think wits a yes.
- 1:08:37[SPEAKER_01]: I like him as a player.
- 1:08:38[SPEAKER_01]: I like his pedigree.
- 1:08:40[SPEAKER_01]: You know, I like his upside, his superstar potential.
- 1:08:42[SPEAKER_01]: So I say yes to wit.
- 1:08:44[SPEAKER_04]: Yes, yes to wit as well.
- 1:08:45[SPEAKER_04]: And when I'm saying no, I'm saying no, like I have zero interest in buying into majorly players that for marginal flips.
- 1:08:53[SPEAKER_04]: I'm buying a major league player thinking that they can be a superstar and this is a long-term hold like I'm not buying major leagueers for marginal flips and that there's something wrong with doing that that's just not my philosophy or strategy right like if I'm buying a major league or I'm buying Bobby Wip because I think he could be a freaking superstar here he is and he could be beyond what he is
- 1:09:13[SPEAKER_04]: prospects is a different story because I enjoy doing that and there's much larger, you know, there's larger margins on those, right?
- 1:09:19[SPEAKER_04]: So we're talking different.
- 1:09:20[SPEAKER_04]: So I'm being harder on the major leagueers like Kyle Stowers or something against him.
- 1:09:24[SPEAKER_04]: He's he's a phenomenal player, the significant power.
- 1:09:27[SPEAKER_04]: But like I have zero winters to buying him.
- 1:09:29[SPEAKER_04]: I don't see him as a future Bobby with that's all.
- 1:09:32[SPEAKER_04]: So, Bobby with yes.
- 1:09:33[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.
- 1:09:33[SPEAKER_03]: All right, next two names.
- 1:09:35[SPEAKER_03]: We hit on both names here at the same time.
- 1:09:37[SPEAKER_03]: Roman Anthony in Nick Kurtz.
- 1:09:39[SPEAKER_00]: I'm going Roman over Nick Kurtz as crazy as that sounds.
- 1:09:42[SPEAKER_00]: I just think what Roman can do is more consistent and sustainable.
- 1:09:46[SPEAKER_00]: And I might, I might even grow for that.
- 1:09:47[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, Nick Kurtz is one of the best hitters in the sport this past year.
- 1:09:51[SPEAKER_00]: But he also struck out 31% of the time.
- 1:09:53[SPEAKER_00]: I think Roman is still somehow underrated.
- 1:09:55[SPEAKER_00]: The injury.
- 1:09:56[SPEAKER_00]: I think didn't allow him to fully show everybody.
- 1:09:58[SPEAKER_00]: How freaking insane he is and I think he's in the same breath talent wise as the group of five that you gave us earlier He just hasn't had a full chance to show it yet hitting in Fenway in that ballpark.
- 1:10:08[SPEAKER_00]: I I sold my Roman gold and it killed me because I want I want to buy more and I So the dad super fractor for pennies
- 1:10:22[SPEAKER_05]: Hey, it's, it's all right.
- 1:10:24[SPEAKER_05]: This is all right.
- 1:10:25[SPEAKER_01]: That's right.
- 1:10:26[SPEAKER_01]: I actually, it is all relative.
- 1:10:29[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to put the shockers special on my boy Bubba here.
- 1:10:32[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm actually going to go Roman Anthony.
- 1:10:34[SPEAKER_01]: Um, I, and here's why I think Boston is looking for somebody to attach their rocket to.
- 1:10:40[SPEAKER_01]: They need somebody that they can fall in love with.
- 1:10:44[SPEAKER_01]: They need the new guy.
- 1:10:45[SPEAKER_01]: They need their version of judge.
- 1:10:48[SPEAKER_01]: They need their version of, you know, whoever.
- 1:10:50[SPEAKER_01]: And I think Roman Anthony is it.
- 1:10:52[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think anybody really cares about the athletics quite frankly.
- 1:10:56[SPEAKER_01]: I think pictures are going to figure out Nick Kurtz.
- 1:10:59[SPEAKER_01]: I don't like anybody.
- 1:11:01[SPEAKER_01]: It's in that organization long term.
- 1:11:03[SPEAKER_01]: I think Boston is a big market.
- 1:11:05[SPEAKER_01]: I think they're looking for a superstar.
- 1:11:06[SPEAKER_01]: And I think Anthony has to be it.
- 1:11:08[SPEAKER_00]: They just finished scrubbing the remnants of devours, like from everything, you know, because that was their guy, right?
- 1:11:14[SPEAKER_00]: And he was marketed as such, and I agree with you wholeheartedly, this is the guy you haven't walked up, this is the guy that you push as the future in the face of your franchise.
- 1:11:23[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, Roman's the dude.
- 1:11:26[SPEAKER_04]: Roman's the dude.
- 1:11:27[SPEAKER_04]: I just see it.
- 1:11:27[SPEAKER_04]: I saw when he had a big home run.
- 1:11:29[SPEAKER_04]: I felt it.
- 1:11:29[SPEAKER_04]: I saw when he hit a big home run against the Yankees.
- 1:11:32[SPEAKER_04]: It was like, I don't know if it was late in the game bottom nine game tying right whatever it was your game winning if I get another where I was watching.
- 1:11:40[SPEAKER_04]: I felt it man like it was just he's got he's got not that that made me believe in him as a player, but I like he's got superstar written on him.
- 1:11:48[SPEAKER_04]: He's got superstar written on him between talent and organization and what that organization wants to market him as he's he's the guy Roman Roman you complete me if you I was talking about boats earlier.
- 1:12:01[SPEAKER_03]: Okay, which I'm about boats earlier and if you want your boat to sink go and lash it on to Roman Anthony and
- 1:12:07[SPEAKER_03]: I've been in this current crisis, I think it's a thinking ship, I think he's I think he's going to be a good major league baseball player, but I don't think he's I think he's Kyle Tucker 2.0, which we talked about earlier, I think he'll get forgotten over time.
- 1:12:22[SPEAKER_03]: I think it'll be a solid player, but he's never going to wow you within VPs.
- 1:12:25[SPEAKER_03]: I think and I will I will bet.
- 1:12:27[SPEAKER_03]: Some money that anybody wants to pet it.
- 1:12:29[SPEAKER_03]: So a lot of you guys like to get in my DMs about Roman Anthony.
- 1:12:32[SPEAKER_03]: I'll put a little money on it.
- 1:12:33[SPEAKER_03]: If you want to get in my DMs again about Roman Anthony, help a little money on it.
- 1:12:36[SPEAKER_03]: And about five years where he's sitting on a card value, I'm going to say significantly lower than he is today.
- 1:12:43[SPEAKER_03]: I'm a little bit too sick.
- 1:12:44[SPEAKER_03]: Significantly lower, I think Nick Kurtz is a way better player, long term and major league baseball.
- 1:12:50[SPEAKER_03]: Prom from Nick Kurtz in my opinion is first baseman, think position will limit him, but I do like Nick Kurtz.
- 1:12:55[SPEAKER_03]: I think both of those players over the course of the one year, two year, three year are going to be significantly down.
- 1:13:01[SPEAKER_01]: So we've heard it here and and Gary, if this pans out, you're going to change your name to the Bowman prophet, the Bowman prophet, you're not PR-O-F-I-T.
- 1:13:10[SPEAKER_01]: It's PR-O-P-H-E-T. You'll be the Bowman prophet with your predictions here.
- 1:13:15[SPEAKER_01]: So do you have any more names?
- 1:13:17[SPEAKER_03]: I got a lot more names, but we made these say some of these for an episode, but I do want to finish with three more that I think we got ahead and then we can call it a day.
- 1:13:26[SPEAKER_03]: with Jason Dominguez.
- 1:13:28[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, let's talk Jason Dominguez not given up on him fully.
- 1:13:31[SPEAKER_03]: You need a lot.
- 1:13:32[SPEAKER_03]: I love you.
- 1:13:33[SPEAKER_00]: The thing is it's all relative, right?
- 1:13:34[SPEAKER_00]: Like what's the market when he shows that he's a pretty good player.
- 1:13:38[SPEAKER_00]: Does that what does that mean market wise?
- 1:13:41[SPEAKER_00]: He's definitely better than the player he's shown.
- 1:13:43[SPEAKER_00]: And then he will be this coming year.
- 1:13:44[SPEAKER_00]: But what does that mean for his market?
- 1:13:47[SPEAKER_01]: There's this flash in an orange gays in the mean guy Jim on screen right now.
- 1:13:51[SPEAKER_01]: The crazy thing is that card at one point was what what would you guess 30 grand 25 30 grand.
- 1:13:56[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's probably hard in that baller now think to me grand 3000 dollar stupid.
- 1:14:02[SPEAKER_01]: Here's stupid.
- 1:14:03[SPEAKER_01]: Here's the only reason why I say yes to Jason the Mingus.
- 1:14:05[SPEAKER_01]: The only reason why I say yes to Jason the Mingus is easy Yankee.
- 1:14:09[SPEAKER_01]: That's the only reason why I say yes to Jason the Mingus.
- 1:14:11[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, he's a good baseball player.
- 1:14:12[SPEAKER_01]: He'll get me wrong, but he's a Yankee.
- 1:14:14[SPEAKER_01]: If a Yankee performs people lose their mind.
- 1:14:17[SPEAKER_04]: Yep.
- 1:14:19[SPEAKER_04]: Perfect.
- 1:14:19[SPEAKER_04]: I agree, yes, to Dominguez, as much prospect fatigue as he has, he's still incredibly young, and he's in the Yankees organization, and he's incredibly talented.
- 1:14:30[SPEAKER_04]: I think the Yankees are them.
- 1:14:31[SPEAKER_04]: You tell me what you think, but I think they've handled him so freaking poorly.
- 1:14:35[SPEAKER_04]: I know you had an injury.
- 1:14:36[SPEAKER_00]: right but like he goes out and has two monster games at a row and he's sitting the next three games like I just think they handled things him so poorly so it worries me but he's a buy in my opinion and then they they he was in the minor weeks to then they brought him up just for that like literally game and put him in you're hitting from the right side against the lefty where he was really struggling at the time there was so many weird like ragdoll moments with him that I don't think it'd been fair I don't think they've insulated him from the pressure because I think they think
- 1:15:04[SPEAKER_00]: Um, and he had on fair expectation, so I've taught him before he could regain drive a car.
- 1:15:10[SPEAKER_00]: I told you, I had 22 years old, I still think, yeah, he's going to be 23 at some point early in the season.
- 1:15:16[SPEAKER_00]: I still think he's got time and he's still very talented.
- 1:15:18[SPEAKER_00]: And I think he's going to be in a ball of average player.
- 1:15:20[SPEAKER_00]: I think it's, I think it's going to be again, a solid, well-rounded player.
- 1:15:24[SPEAKER_03]: love them, love them, thank you's extra.
- 1:15:26[SPEAKER_03]: I love the fact when you can buy a player like him that has shown $25,000 on a card.
- 1:15:32[SPEAKER_03]: We've talked about that before.
- 1:15:33[SPEAKER_03]: When you've had that previous upside, it gives you more room to get back there on performance.
- 1:15:37[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 1:15:38[SPEAKER_03]: And again, we saw it when he came out, you'll remember his debut.
- 1:15:42[SPEAKER_03]: you remember what happened on his debut?
- 1:15:44[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, people would go and nuts on that guy.
- 1:15:47[SPEAKER_03]: And then last year, he had the moment where he had to bad little league game up there and everybody bombing on him and did this all season.
- 1:15:55[SPEAKER_03]: Guys, I've been trying to buy the Mingaz for three years, couldn't find an entry point.
- 1:15:59[SPEAKER_03]: People were just bailing on the kid.
- 1:16:00[SPEAKER_03]: They're just bailing on them at this point.
- 1:16:01[SPEAKER_03]: You can buy refractors for 99 or like two, three hundred bucks at some points on auction.
- 1:16:06[SPEAKER_03]: It's stupid.
- 1:16:06[SPEAKER_03]: Right now, Jason to Mingaz, get in, get some skin, get in,
- 1:16:12[SPEAKER_00]: All right, blah blah, two more names.
- 1:16:14[SPEAKER_00]: All right, Jackson holiday.
- 1:16:16[SPEAKER_00]: I think he's good.
- 1:16:17[SPEAKER_00]: Like I think there's actually fatigue on him.
- 1:16:19[SPEAKER_00]: I was talking about this on the podcast.
- 1:16:21[SPEAKER_00]: I think people are being way too harsh for a guy that's gonna be a really solid player, but I like in him to the Zack Neto conversation like it's just gonna be an above average player at second base and what's that worth?
- 1:16:35[SPEAKER_01]: I like holiday.
- 1:16:36[SPEAKER_01]: I see some upside there as a rebound year for him.
- 1:16:39[SPEAKER_01]: I think he started to figure the big leagues out a little bit.
- 1:16:42[SPEAKER_01]: I think he got thrown to the wolves early in a course he struggled tremendously.
- 1:16:46[SPEAKER_01]: But the guys got ridiculous DNA.
- 1:16:48[SPEAKER_01]: He's all over the baseball field all the time.
- 1:16:50[SPEAKER_01]: Again, the ceiling probably not what we thought it might be as a second basement, but I definitely see a nice little rebound to pop back into Hobbit holiday quickly.
- 1:16:58[SPEAKER_01]: I just don't think there's long-term superstar in there.
- 1:17:01[SPEAKER_04]: Based on Gary's logic he's a buy.
- 1:17:04[SPEAKER_04]: I'm not brushing to buy him by still think there's time.
- 1:17:07[SPEAKER_04]: I don't know.
- 1:17:07[SPEAKER_04]: I'm not sold on him yet.
- 1:17:08[SPEAKER_04]: I think he's going to be a great ball player is young.
- 1:17:10[SPEAKER_04]: I think he's going to be really good.
- 1:17:11[SPEAKER_04]: I just.
- 1:17:13[SPEAKER_04]: I don't know if he gets back to, if he, if he's, can get back to like that, that hype period.
- 1:17:19[SPEAKER_04]: I just don't know.
- 1:17:20[SPEAKER_03]: To me, here's the thing, Jackson, Hollywood is very similar to me as Jason to me, as I couldn't find an entry point, I struggled to get in because one of those guys that got high so fast, similar to Ellie, really for me.
- 1:17:32[SPEAKER_03]: And I've been waiting for an opportunity.
- 1:17:33[SPEAKER_03]: And you talked about DNA.
- 1:17:35[SPEAKER_03]: You talked about a guy and his dad who's still a freak at, you know, whatever age he is now.
- 1:17:40[SPEAKER_03]: And they talk about the work ethic of the holidays.
- 1:17:42[SPEAKER_03]: You talk about a guy that the work ethic that those people have.
- 1:17:45[SPEAKER_03]: I think holiday is going to get bigger.
- 1:17:47[SPEAKER_03]: I don't think he's done growing.
- 1:17:48[SPEAKER_03]: I think he's going to bulk up.
- 1:17:49[SPEAKER_03]: Think he's the power.
- 1:17:50[SPEAKER_03]: He's showing power in these about 17 home runs last year.
- 1:17:53[SPEAKER_03]: He's got some speed.
- 1:17:55[SPEAKER_03]: Oddly enough, I think he could be a 30 home run guy at second base.
- 1:17:59[SPEAKER_03]: 30 home run guy, 100 RBIs.
- 1:18:01[SPEAKER_03]: I never thought I would talk even about a power guy.
- 1:18:04[SPEAKER_03]: But I think the power is to come.
- 1:18:05[SPEAKER_03]: I'm a bi-onjax in holiday.
- 1:18:07[SPEAKER_03]: I think Jackson holiday again, a player that had the, you know, he had the higher numbers before.
- 1:18:12[SPEAKER_03]: I like Jackson holiday.
- 1:18:14[SPEAKER_03]: I like him as a buy here.
- 1:18:15[SPEAKER_03]: I really do.
- 1:18:16[SPEAKER_03]: So last guy, you know, we're done.
- 1:18:18[SPEAKER_03]: We've tied all the names, but since all of them's on, we got to talk about Spencer Jones.
- 1:18:22[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, you know, Spencer Jones.
- 1:18:24[SPEAKER_03]: He's been the elephant in the room here.
- 1:18:26[SPEAKER_01]: Everybody knows why this is not current head.
- 1:18:28[SPEAKER_01]: This is why current head technical difficulties.
- 1:18:31[SPEAKER_01]: He was he was bowing out before the Prince of Jones conversation.
- 1:18:34[SPEAKER_01]: So are on.
- 1:18:36[SPEAKER_03]: Everybody knows Spencer Jones is six foot seven six seven boys 2026 continues.
- 1:18:43[SPEAKER_03]: He's six foot seven 255 to 160 pounds he's fast he bombs and they've handled him horribly as well he should've got the call last year.
- 1:18:51[SPEAKER_03]: I mean when he was raking they should've given the kid a chance to have a cup of coffee they didn't.
- 1:18:55[SPEAKER_03]: I think he the chance has got to happen this year.
- 1:18:57[SPEAKER_03]: They didn't write him, they could have our own, they could have traded him last year.
- 1:19:00[SPEAKER_03]: Teams would have wanted him.
- 1:19:01[SPEAKER_03]: He would have fit in a lot of places then, Stintley.
- 1:19:03[SPEAKER_03]: So for them not trading him at his peak, it tells me they have plans for him.
- 1:19:07[SPEAKER_03]: Two-part question, do you think he breaks the club out of spring training this year?
- 1:19:12[SPEAKER_03]: And second part is, for both of y'all, if he comes up, you talked about the New York Yankee effect.
- 1:19:18[SPEAKER_03]: He comes up and he hits, and he shows that immediate flash in the pan how nuclear does his stuff go?
- 1:19:23[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know, but you should get out as soon as possible for that does happen and I get I'm not even trying to hate like so I think I think he's got a chance to because they probably didn't want to just move his skill set, but I also think other teams may not have been valuing him as the centerpiece of a deal as much as they would have liked so they didn't want to sell well, I want to go with his skill set, especially with the Kip proof of concept judge at the big league level, but
- 1:19:45[SPEAKER_00]: very hard to replicate that.
- 1:19:46[SPEAKER_00]: I think if he gets up there and he rakes right away, I see the market going crazy.
- 1:19:50[SPEAKER_00]: You guys were no better than me, but just because of the gravity to his name, the Yankee, and then also people just not wanting to miss on that ceiling.
- 1:19:56[SPEAKER_00]: But the lowest qualified contact rate major league baseball last year was 67.6.
- 1:20:03[SPEAKER_00]: sensor Jones contact rate in the minor leagues last year was 58%.
- 1:20:07[SPEAKER_00]: So for Spencer Jones to effectively be a consistent big league bat, he would either have to overcome having the lowest contact rate major league baseball by 8%.
- 1:20:18[SPEAKER_00]: If he sustained the same contact rate, which is already hard, or he'd have to make one of the biggest leaps in contact rate I've ever seen from player in AAA to the major leagues.
- 1:20:27[SPEAKER_00]: And those are two things that just spook me out too much and make me doubtful.
- 1:20:30[SPEAKER_03]: What were those contact rate second half though?
- 1:20:33[SPEAKER_03]: That's what I'm curious about second half the season.
- 1:20:35[SPEAKER_03]: I know you made a lot of changes in the swing to see those results.
- 1:20:38[SPEAKER_03]: You had a kind of a slow start yet a huge, huge finish here.
- 1:20:42[SPEAKER_03]: Do you know what the second half numbers look like compared to the first half?
- 1:20:44[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
- 1:20:45[SPEAKER_00]: If you go through up to, let's say, July 13th, it was a 58% contact rate from July 13th, onward it was a 58% contact rate.
- 1:20:55[SPEAKER_03]: Really, so the numbers having that having this huge moths was a just him just converting on what he was having.
- 1:21:01[SPEAKER_00]: When he hits, it is perfect.
- 1:21:04[SPEAKER_00]: It's perfect.
- 1:21:05[SPEAKER_00]: Perfect.
- 1:21:06[SPEAKER_03]: He's like, he's like judge in that sense when he is on.
- 1:21:08[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 1:21:09[SPEAKER_03]: He's got that kind of power and that kind of prolific stuff.
- 1:21:11[SPEAKER_00]: And I think he's going to have his stretches in the big leagues where he's going to be incredible for two weeks.
- 1:21:16[SPEAKER_00]: And then there's going to be two weeks where you don't even want him in the lineup.
- 1:21:19[SPEAKER_00]: And so like that, that riding the wave there is going to be interesting.
- 1:21:24[SPEAKER_00]: But I would never fully give up on a player with his skillset.
- 1:21:27[SPEAKER_00]: He's just so, so, so, so, so, so risky.
- 1:21:29[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I think you're looking for a moment.
- 1:21:31[SPEAKER_01]: I think you're looking for the moment and take advantage of the moment and move on the moment with the guy like that.
- 1:21:36[SPEAKER_01]: Just not.
- 1:21:37[SPEAKER_01]: Yep.
- 1:21:37[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah,
- 1:21:38[SPEAKER_01]: I would agree.
- 1:21:39[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
- 1:21:39[SPEAKER_01]: This is fun.
- 1:21:40[SPEAKER_01]: I love this stuff, by the way.
- 1:21:41[SPEAKER_01]: I love these.
- 1:21:42[SPEAKER_01]: I don't can't tell.
- 1:21:44[SPEAKER_01]: We never, we never, but this is, this is your wheelhouse baby.
- 1:21:47[SPEAKER_01]: This is your cheddar.
- 1:21:48[SPEAKER_01]: I don't have an arm on talking baseball.
- 1:21:51[SPEAKER_03]: I'm going to have to meet him on the just baseball episode.
- 1:21:54[SPEAKER_03]: One episode.
- 1:21:54[SPEAKER_03]: Let me just get in there and chop it up with those guys.
- 1:21:56[SPEAKER_03]: About Spencer Jazz.
- 1:21:57[SPEAKER_03]: They would enjoy this.
- 1:21:58[SPEAKER_00]: It was to when Jones say abuse.
