[upbeat music] Welcome show listeners.
0:21
It's Full Spectrum Cycling number 47. 47. 47. Great year. Great vintage. Glengoolie. No, I'm 47. When... Oh. [laughs] Ah, I get it now. Now- Pretty soon we'll be at my birthday too...
0:37
and 47, Ronin, what have you. Ah, yes. If you want to- Great movie by the way. Yes. Ronin. Yes. Fantastic. I'm sure we've talked about that in the olden times- Oh...
0:45
on the other show about how great the car chases are in that one. I'm, I'm gonna need an S8. But not just any S8. He rolls out the blueprints for that nitrous injection system. [laughs] It's like, holy shit.
0:55
In I am genre know, I can do this. [laughs] Yeah, those are, that is the... That and, uh, what's the movie with the Mini Coopers that they just beat the living shit out... The Italian Job. The Italian Job.
1:06
Also some great driving scenes in that. Especially the first one- Yes... without Charlize Theron in it. Yeah. Although that had some good- Mm-hmm... all Remy Julienne. He's the French- Wow...
1:18
uh, what do you, what would you call him? A orchestrator of car chases or- Yeah... a choreographer of car chasing. Aha. That's probably the best term. Choreographer. Choreographer. Choreographer. Oh. Oh.
1:28
Wow, you're, you're on the clever names thing this week. Shit, I'm telling you. JK's, uh- [laughs]... JK's fat bike is, is finally finished. Holy shit. Which- Put that in the liner notes...
1:38
came into, came into a name somehow. Stitesdale your face. [laughs] Jesus Christ. You know that was a, a Zito collaboration right there. Yeah. Yeah, yeah. [laughs] Well, heck and it took a while- Who says-...
1:52
but it sure did turn out good... [laughs] Yeah. Who says when we get together nothing good happens? Gotta put a picture of that dare thing on the- Where'd you run into him? Uh, Up and Under. Ah. Sundays then.
2:01
Sunday, Sunday, Sunday. Sundays at Up and Under. I rode around in the snow on Sunday. Me too. It was gorgeous. It was beauty. I did not. I think I only slid out once.
2:12
I hit the curb with my wheel at an acute angle and slipped out a little bit. But- Oddly enough, I too slid out once. [laughs] Yeah. But otherwise it was great. Yeah, it was stunning. Beauty out there.
2:22
Um- It's, it's snowing again now. It is snowing again now. Mm-hmm. The snow globe. I hope it's not, uh, too much today. It's supposed to be one to three. It's nothing. Yeah. Most of it overnight.
2:33
We'll take our- Most overnight... our Cab to ride and make it all fun and- Yeah... interesting. Yep. For all of you that are listening, we went to Cab today yesterday. Yeah.
2:42
We talked to Shannon today and he kinda gave it the meh. Meh, meh. Uh, you know, I, we're, we're going down to look for specific stuff- Yeah... so we'll have a report next week.
2:50
Sent me a picture of a pretty cool mid-drive cargo bike that looked pretty neat. I guess if you go to a big huge thing like Interbike used to be, maybe an upcoming show like this might not quite have the panache.
3:03
But we're down there to find interesting cycling finds, and like Cracky, we'll tell you about them- Cracky... over the next couple of weeks. That'd be my guess. Or I'll just blather about them all next week.
3:16
Yeah, you can do that. Yeah, yeah. Could be that too. Who knows? Yeah, yeah. Yep. Hey, Tony's gonna be a working stiff again. I am. 24th. Only, only in the bike shop on weekends coming up. Yep, yep. 224. 224, 20.
3:34
So with the gravestones. [laughs] Yeah. I know mine is June of 2001. That's when I started my indentured servitude with the state. Yeah. [laughs] You have that committed to memory because you know the out date as well?
3:53
Yeah. No. July 24th was when I started mine- Shit... at the University of Wisconsin. See, I don't, I- Seven- Never had a real job, so I don't know when-... seven and a half... I would start any job.
4:03
[laughs] God, I have seven and a half years to get 100%. Woo-hoo. Snap back. Yeah. Well, yeah. I can, I can ghost ride it for seven years. Just don't ghost ride the new fat bike. That's too purty. Oh. Well, just career.
4:18
[laughs] Yeah. [laughs] Not the important shit. [laughs] I had some ghost riding dream, but I can't actually place exactly what happened in it.
4:27
[laughs] But it was ghost riding the bike to distract somebody from something while some violence happened, but I don't recall the exact violence. Interesting. Yeah. Did you talk to Freud about that? Might involve a pen.
4:41
Or a snake. I'm not sure. Or, no, I don't think there was any snakes. Okay. And the jingling of keys. [keys jingling] Is that a Freud thing? No, it's just distracting you from- I, I thought it was Pavlock's dog, but-...
4:52
a heavier- [laughs]... a heavier, heavier. So, um, Alpine Valley happened this weekend. Oh. Looked pretty fricking spectacular. Our, our- And very long lines...
5:02
yeah, our buddy Dave is gonna call in in a little bit and lay it on us. Got a- You somehow made it there Sunday after I saw you guys Saturday in this place I'll, um, how shall I say, drinkage.
5:13
Working, working on- Working on a bike... his girlfriend's bike. I had two beers and went home, took a nap. Ended up being a bent derailleur hanger by the way. Yeah. Yeah. Well.
5:21
Took a little poking around there to get that one under control. Sometimes you fall down and bend stuff. Yeah.
5:27
And then I couldn't find the derailleur alignment cage for some reason, so I just got a hand tweak and it worked fine. But I found- So that- I-... that's what the text meant.
5:34
I had to check m- uh- I was like, "Party here." And I'm like, "I, how do you mean?" [laughs] There's a party here with lawns. Londons and Dina. And I'm like, "I, uh, how, how do, how do you mean?"
5:45
[laughs] By that time I was home. Ah.
5:49
[laughs] I had, uh, I was walking by and saw the lights on, and I'm like, I was, I had just left, I was with Sam at, uh, at Black Husky with Mariposa, and I'm like, "Wait a minute, why are the lights on?"
6:00
So I cross the street and- You was Greg working on a bike or... You actually, they weren't here yet, it was just you and I- Oh, that was pretty early then... and Lady Pulsyn.
6:08
Yeah, so we had a couple of beers and, yeah, then I had to go take a nap because I had a couple of beers at Black Husky too and, you know, that happens. Are you documenting this? Documenting my haircut. Ah.
6:19
[laughs] That is sporty, man. Sporty. Sporty. Yeah, you got the Superman- I don't know, it's with the-... squish-... with the headphones on... curl thing. Yeah, I don't know about that. Well, it's, it's got the thing.
6:31
It, it needs to be- And I just watched Superman II... he needs to be retrained again, so. I watched Superman II- Ah... until it's on in front of mine. Yeah? The Richard Donner cut, thank you, Kevin.
6:39
I just, uh, I, I was go- We were looking for a movie to just chill out to the other night and we re-watched the original, um, uh, Guardians of the Galaxy, the first one, which is- Oh, sure. Yeah...
6:49
actually a pretty damn good movie to just- It holds up, yeah... kind of come in and out of. Yep. It's like, "Oh yeah, I remember this part. Oh, this is a good part. Oh, well." Oh.
6:57
I don't know, was it at the, the good part at the Oscars or was it when Brad Pitt was talking about, uh, Letterkenny? Letterkenny, yes. Got a link on the show notes, but- I have to see that. Oh.
7:07
I didn't- Like, the press conference after the fact? It's hilarious. Yeah, it's like a little 40-second thing. They ask him about- That's awesome... whatever, uh, whatever Canadian movie- Once upon a time...
7:15
got 10 nominations or something. Yeah. He said something about Letterkenny being better, though. Yeah. [laughs] And the guy that's talking to him is like, "He likes, he watches Letterkenny" Oh, boy.
7:28
Because everyone should watch Letterkenny, because it's fucking hilarious. Yes. This is the truth we speak- Yeah... on this show. Only the truth. Only the truth. Mm-hmm. Testify.
7:38
Tony's flipping his phone around like a helicopter. He, yeah, he- I've never seen somebody enjoy that as much. Neil deGrasse Tyson- The same... spins his phone all the time. Yeah.
7:49
I, I listened to him- And he's a genius... and he, he said he never drops his phone because he always spins it and he always has this, like, he has this feeling. He doesn't have a case. He doesn't believe in them.
7:59
[laughs] But then again, he probably, you know, can afford a new phone if he drops it. Sure. He says he never drops one. Good for him. I just, I just like to be preoccupied with a- Inv- invoking the cousin, "I,
8:10
I don't believe in helmets, but I believe in kickstands and fenders." Yeah. [laughs] That guy's, that guy, I tell you. [laughs] If you're out there, Donardo, listening to this podcast- I was like, [laughs] damn, dude...
8:19
you don't make sense a lot of times. [laughs] "I don't wear a jacket in the winter- No... it's too hot." I under- We, uh, we spend a lot of time bashing Donardo [laughs] on this podcast. I understand.
8:29
There, there's times, uh, well, shit, I, there are ti- I, it's like I understand the logic, I just don't agree with it. Right. But yeah, it makes damn sense at times. Yeah. And- Derailers suck. [laughs] They're stupid.
8:41
Well, see, that's where I'm kind of in the tribe. Even though- Yeah... ta-da. I, you know... No, he's, you know- Necessity...
8:49
he's the first guy, will admit, he's the first guy I ever saw with a Raleigh five-speed internal. Two shifters. Oh boy. Clickety click. [laughs] It's like, that's a crazy setup, dude.
8:59
[laughs] And then I saw the dude at Steel Is Real one year who had the three-speed cog that fits on an SA3, so it basically makes it a nine-speed. With a derailer for the three speeds. Right. Yep. Right.
9:14
[laughs] So I'm like, okay, so if you put that on the five, you'd have a 15-speed, or would it be more? No. He's like, "Yeah, let's see." Well, three times five probably. Yeah.
9:25
But it's, the funny thing is, is the three, if you've ever seen one, is it's a three-speed [cough] shifter on one side and a three-speed shifter on the other, so it should be a six, except for the middle one is the same gear.
9:36
That's why it's a five. Huh. That's a bizarre setup. If you ever wanna- Yeah, that's like, that's like- If you wanna kill some time, Google that thing and look at it and be like, "What?"
9:42
That's, that's philosophy 101 or- You know? Yeah. There's a guy we should have on our show.
9:47
That's a, that's a logic, that's a logic cor- The, the, the local guy that works just on Sturmey Archer three-speeds or old British- Oh, he's a funny guy. He's got, like, 180 of them in his basement.
9:56
It's some number that'll just make you fall off your seat. Yep. Yep. I, he, I see him at Steel Is Real. I can never remember his name, but Ayla, my coworker, knows his name and I can get that. Oh, with the-
10:07
Yeah, he's usually on the tweed rides and stuff like that. Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. He had, like, the full- You're, no, you're talking about the English guy that... No, it's not that guy.
10:14
There's a- The guy with the, the-... another guy... the full wood bike and always, like, the chrome bag? No, not him. I know that guy too, though. Yeah. Okay.
10:21
The, the two wooden bikes he had that one year were pretty hilarious. Hey, we're talking about bikes on a bike cast. That's kind of odd. Wow. Hey, I'm telling you. What's, what's coming up this weekend?
10:31
We got Skoal, Winter Skoal. Winter Skoal. Winter Skoal. On Saturday. I was, I was told actually that, like, the, uh, the wording of that isn't as accurate [laughs] as they want it to be.
10:44
It, it kinda, like, means, like, win- like, winter, like, winter skirt. Nice. [laughs] I'm okay with that. Like, if they had, like, an umlaut in the different way or something under something, but- This is America. Eh.
11:00
Yeah, we bastardize every language anyway. But it was, it was interesting, because- Including English... out of anything, I was like, yeah, this should be, you know, there's a shitload of good bands playing. Uh-huh.
11:09
And it's like, oh yeah, yeah, yeah. No, that means winter skirt and they are just bastardizing the language. [laughs] Maybe they should make all the bands wear skirts.
11:19
And I'm like- This should be a good weekend for riding. We're supposed to get some more snow. It'll be 30, yeah, and then 30-some degrees on Saturday. Yeah, after- Could be a beautiful day to ride around...
11:26
frigid Friday. Yeah. And tomorrow, tomorrow's supposed to be chilly. Frigid, frigid Friday. Yeah. Would be today. Yeah, if you're listening to this today. It will be cold. Very.
11:37
Maybe our first, it's like the first- You know it's cold outside if you go outside and it's cold outside. Yeah. Mm-hmm. This'll be the first day below 20 degrees in- Since-... since- December 1st... this year.
11:48
Like, it's crazy. Since December 1st. Yeah. Like, longer than this year. Yeah. Yeah. That's kind of infinity- This year's month eve thing. Right on. That means, of course, June and July it's gonna be, like, 40.
12:00
What's happening? That's all right with me. I'll take 40 in July.
12:06
Oh, how delicate We appear to be at the top of the hill You guys are pinky out It must be a small hill [laughs] It's like, it's just like the end of the chimes at the old cult meeting place right down the street Like The Sound of Music Ah.
12:19
Do you think those- How do you solve a problem like Maria? Do you think those chimes down there at, uh, St. Casimir's are actually bells still, or is that a speaker up in there? No, I'm sure that's a speaker.
12:27
That's a big old 1800s Catholic Church right there Oh, yeah Though they could still have real bells in there with hunchbacks pulling them and whatnot. Yeah, that'd be cool. So beer, beer stop, hey? Yeah. Hey, hey?
12:38
And, and what a beer it is. Uh, this is a Terrapin from Athens, Georgia. It is a Hopsecutioner IPA. I have had this before, and it is very- I have had- I have not...
12:50
I have had other Terrapins, but not this particular one I, I too have had other Terrapins, yes Is that a- I didn't realize- Is that a Ninja Turtle on the front, do you think?
12:56
That appears to be some sort of- It's not Donatello... cult turtle. [laughs] No, it's the, uh- It's a monk... it's the executioner. He's, oh, he's, he's a traitor The Hopsecutioner.
13:07
So he's, he's made out of hops, but he's an executioner. Oh, I get it now. All right. Oh, that's great. Mm-hmm. That's a great- It's great art. Just gotta follow the, follow the theme here.
13:14
What, what caught me on this at old Otto's Liquor down there on Oakland Avenue was six varieties of hops in this thing. Yeah.
13:22
You need- I love that he's also holding a mash turn in his hand instead of a, a sword or anything. That's the thing they use to stir the hops in a, in a batch of beer.
13:31
Probably got a pretty sharp edge on it, though, if he's gonna... Oh, he's got the guillotine. He's, he's gonna... Yeah, he's gonna use the guillotine instead. But, yeah, this is...
13:37
Um, I like the six hops, and, and this is a fine tasty beer. Well, let's, let's figure those hops out. Warrior, Chinook, Centennial, Simcoe, Amarillo, and Cascade. Mm.
13:48
And they also hit it with about, oh, I don't know, how many malts? 2-Row, Pale, Munich, Crystal 24, L, and Victory. That's- There's a whole lot of stuff up in here I didn't realize- Yeah... the Elkahoozie- Yes...
14:00
'cause I've had this before It's, it's up there Oh, my 7.3%. Yeah. That explains some actions after I had a couple of these. And 71- [laughs]... international- Yeah, that-... bitter girlfriend units. Indeedy, indeedy.
14:12
[laughs] I don't know what the, uh, the OG means, the 16 OG. What's OG? Original gangster? Yeah, right? Uh- I can't wait for the Beastie Boys thing to come out.
14:23
Somehow s- I thought somebody had, like, a preview of it, but it's due out soon on- There's been a really small-... on Apple TV or something or something Yeah. Yeah.
14:31
Is that- Which we could do a screening here in the shop... is that what you, what you, what you want? Oh- What you want?... we should totally do a screening of that in the shop. Might as well. Oh, man.
14:40
Got the big screen up there- There you go... that only has the menu on it most of the time, so. That would be freaking great. Except for when we come in to the Sping Classics coming up soon.
14:48
It would be what, which I, what I want. Is that what it's called? What? What you- No, I'm just- What you want... I'm just riffing Could be. I'm just riffing. Might be what it's called.
14:56
[laughs] Occasional mic might land on the needle, on the record. I'm, uh... I was at, uh, doing some consulting work at Spike Brewing, and one of the guys kept saying, "No, my name's Clarence."
15:08
And I'm like, "You're saying it wrong, dude. It's... No, mine's Clarence." [laughs] He just looked at me and he's like, "What?" I'm like, "You got the wrong lyric, dude. Don't, don't guess me on the Beastie Boys."
15:19
[laughs] "You have the wrong lyric." This is also the same guy that walked by me one day and went, "Transformer Man." And I'm like, "Wait a minute. You know the most bizarre Neil Young album ever?"
15:31
He's like, "That was one of my favorite albums as a kid." Like, "I like you a lot more," 'cause that is a great Neil Young album. [laughs] I thought you were going Transformers. Robots. More than meets the eye.
15:45
Wow, we have gone down a weird rabbit hole all of a sudden. Pretty soon the Thundercats are gonna be walking through the door. [laughs] Lion-O. Well... [laughs] That's our buddy Lyle that hangs down at the pub.
15:56
[laughs] But I call him Lionel now. Oh, [laughs] that's funny. [laughs] Shut up, Lion-O. Shut up, Lionel. [laughs] Shut up, Lion-O.
16:03
[laughs] Hey, let's, uh, let's listen to the, uh, uh, since we got a little time to fill here, the description of this tasty beverage. Ooh. Light in color- Mm... this IPA has an aroma of fresh pine and citrus.
16:18
A strong malt backbone provides- [laughs]... balance to an assertive hop bitterness. Pairs well with blue cheese or sharp cheddar. Mm.
16:27
Oh, what is your- Pair with a classic burger or play up the citrus in the beer with a glazed orange duck dish. Huh, interesting. I do not think I've ever had a glazed orange duck dish.
16:38
Ooh, that's one of Molly's favorites. Peking? Hey, I, I have to bring back- Peking duck? I have to bring back last week's cast in which you had mentioned the Hooligans Butter Burger. [laughs] Yeah?
16:49
And I happened to be at Hooligans on Friday. And, of course, I'm going through the menu. I'm like, "Wait a minute. Greg and Zito had the butter burger." I'm like, "I gotta have that butter burger."
16:59
And then I looked and I noticed that I could get that butter burger in bison. Yep, yep, yep. Yep. Yep, yep, yep. Bison butter burger. Oh my God, that thing was freaking delicious. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm, mm-hmm. Um, it was...
17:14
And it was really funny 'cause the server I always get, the pretty young lady with the really long curly hair, she- I ordered it and she's like, "Wait, what?" [laughs] How French Charlie Brown of you. Man.
17:23
[laughs] She's like, she's like, "Wait, you aren't-" Da, da, dun, dun, dun, dun. She's like, "You're not getting anything spicy?" Dun, dun, dun. 'Cause she knows me from getting blue cheese, you know, spicy stuff.
17:32
And she's like, "You're not gonna get anything spicy?" I'm like, "Eh, I'm gonna switch it up this time." And it was fantastic. [laughs] Hell yeah. Hell yeah.
17:40
Freaking- I- Hooligans is, I- It's been far too long since I've been to Hooligans- Oh, man... or ordered anything from there. That used to be my, uh, my out for si- sick days. Mm. [laughs] Ah. It's like, "Oh, sick day.
17:53
I gotta go over to Hooligans, get a butter burger." It's too bad you don't have the deal they got down at the City of Milwaukee when they have a sick day. 'Cause if you take one day, it's an occurrence, so there's...
18:03
It... And up, up to three days are also an occurrence. So every time you get sick, you take at least three days off. Sure, sure. Wow. [laughs] That sounds rough. [laughs] Well, yeah. But-
18:14
That's a remnants of when the union- Yeah... used to have control here before it got- Yeah... I- I'm just playing-... eviscerated... I'm just playing the ball where it's lying- Yeah. Yeah...
18:22
currently, so I've had bad regimes and good regimes, so. Yeah, yeah. This one's good, so all's well. It's like, "Hey, I'm sick," or, "I'm sick." You know, like, "I can't make it in. Damn. No, this is not happening."
18:37
It's gonna be really hard not working out of my basement. [laughs] Hey, watch out, seasonal affective disorder. Do you have some, like, actual, like, sunlight? Yeah, actually I do. Okay. My basement's nice and bright.
18:49
Yeah. That was kind of the funny thing when my- Just asking. Just asking... when my tall neighbor- Just asking. I lived in a place that had, like- Yeah...
18:54
zero sun, and I was- When, when my tall neighbor Sean came over to my house for the first time, we went in the basement, he was like- [laughs] Tall neighbor Sean... he's like, "What's going on here?" I'm like, "What?"
19:02
He's like, "I'm not bumping my head everywhere." What was, uh, what was Ruth Buzzi's character's name on, uh, Laugh-In? O- One Ringy Dingy? I don't know. Oh, I don't know. Oh, whatever. I was gonna hit you with my purse.
19:11
Speaking of ringy ding- speaking of ringy dingies. Do we have a ringy dingy? We have a ring ding-a-ling on the old telephone thing. Oh, God. And speaking of ding-a-ling. Answer the damn phone.
19:19
Well, welcome to the radio program, caller. [laughs] Who do we have on the line? Hello? Hello. Hi. Y- hello? Uh, hello. Hello. Are you muted? Hello? I don't know. Am I... I don't know how to speak here.
19:37
I can... We, we can hear you. Are you coming in the door? We can hear you. Can we hear you? Can you hear us? I can hear you a little bit. Oh, well, talk into the microphone there, sir. Speak directly into the flower.
19:55
Um, we got, uh, Mr. Lunz on the line to talk a little bit about Alpine Valley's- Right... weekend here. Um, can you give us a, a head's up on what happened at that and what you, what you found when you got there?
20:08
Um, yeah, like way more people showed up than they were expecting, so that was pretty cool. Like 200 people showed up for it. [laughs] Whoa. How's it going? 200? Um, yeah. It looked like everybody in line like that.
20:25
And how many runs did you get? What? How many runs? Just keep going. What? Oh, uh, one. [laughs] You could only get one run in? There's someone in the background over there. We're, we're, we're...
20:39
The shop is open, so maybe we're dealing with customers. Ah. So, uh- Right on... you got just one run in? Uh, yeah, that...
20:49
Yeah, there was so many people, yeah, we ended up standing on top of the hill, like, for damn near two hours waiting to do one run. [laughs] Oh.
20:56
You didn't fall down and make just one run in your- Yeah, the conditions quickly deteriorated-... one run in your pants... with the, the snow falling on the hill. Yeah, it was snowing pretty rough up there, wasn't it?
21:09
Yeah, it's getting a good amount. Um, pretty steady. Not heavy, though. Nice, nice. Um- Didn't you eat it, though? But yeah, they really missed the boat. They should've had a beer truck up there.
21:22
Um- Wait, you waited in line- So, yeah, like I- Wait, let me... We're talking to Dave Lunz, right? Yeah. [laughs] And, and you waited in line for two hours and there was no beer? Yeah, no beer.
21:35
I didn't bring any up with me. I didn't expect to be up there that long. [laughs] Wow. Um, yeah, it's pretty weird. A lot of people showed up, so, um, but yeah, it was interesting.
21:50
Did, did you take it off any sweet jumps? Snowcraft went twice going down, I think. Nice. What's that? Did you take it off any sweet jumps? There were a couple sweet jumps.
21:59
I kind of, um, didn't really have much control of the bike when I was hitting them, though, but, um, yeah. [laughs] So [laughs] there was no real game plan except for just to get over it clean. Nice. Um,
22:13
yeah, it was pretty sloppy, dude. I was on the Fat Ripper, too. It ju- it just wasn't working. [laughs] Mm-hmm, mm-hmm. But I had a lot of fun. But you regret nothing. Regret nothing. Exactly. [laughs] No regerts.
22:26
No regerts. Nice. [laughs] Did, uh, Lisa do it, too, or did she stay home? Or, I mean- What's that? Uh- [laughs] I'm, I'm just gonna shut up. I can't speak right now for some reason. Um,
22:41
who was- Yeah, I saw, I saw Jeff... I mean, I saw Jeff was there, and did I see- Chuck Willey?... Chuck? Chuckie. Yeah. Yep. I, yeah, I rode up with Trusky. Um- Oh, nice. Right on. Yeah. Um, Aristotle was there.
22:58
Oh, nice. Was he, was he back flipping? A whole bunch of other people. [laughs] Um, yeah, it was a huge turnout. It was pretty wild. Did, did Aris do any crazy air or anything? I don't know.
23:13
He was in line about an hour ahead of me, so- Oh, shit. [laughs]... I didn't get to see him much that day. [laughs] Except the back of somebody else's jacket. But yeah.
23:22
[laughs] Yeah, it took a while longer than they expected to run the course, I know. Yeah. But hey, it's the first time. Multiple people ended up going on the run. You know, it's the first time. They'll figure it out.
23:32
Oh, yeah. I doubt... Let me see your phone for a sec with a camera, 'cause Andy's here with his big fat dummy outside. But there, um- Oh, big fat dummy outside...
23:40
they did only one run, so it was, like, one person at a time. It wasn't a dual slalom- Oh, okay... uh, type of deal. So that, you know, obviously doubled the length of time it took, so we suggested that for next year.
23:51
[laughs] There you go. Or, or if, uh, what is it, a four-cross or whatever, set up a four-cross course- Yeah, what-... it sounds like... you know, there was that, um- Run 'em four at a time...
24:02
there used to be that snowboard event where they kinda did four people at a time and you kinda had to just bust it out and it was like m- Yeah...
24:09
it was in the X Games for, like, a couple of years and I think people just got hurt. [laughs] Oh, yeah. So they just stopped it. Yeah, kind of, like almost Chinese style. Yeah, that would be mad carnage.
24:17
Not quite Chinese style, so. Yeah, there was always some serious carnage and, you know, snowboards are sharp. That was, that was a pretty epic ride actually.
24:25
I remember watching that Even though the knuckle dragger's on top of it may not be. Oh. [laughs] Yeah. I'm a two-planker ranker, I'm telling you. [laughs] Yeah, no, I'm a knuckle dragger.
24:34
I have no problem being a knuckle dragger. Yeah, I'm a two-planker. I skied for 17 years. I'm a two-planker. And I skied for 17 years before snowboarding- Yeah, I can, I can sit there and fall down-...
24:43
I'm like, "Oh, geez"... and pop back up all the time. Yeah. Boom, boom, boom, boom. Yeah. [laughs] This guy. I didn't realize that that's, uh...
24:52
I had saw him riding at UWM on Sunday in, on his big dummy, his big fat dummy. Big fat dummy. Yeah. Big fat dummy. Just like the guy on the phone. [laughs] Wow, he came in. Just bam. Zam. Holy cow.
25:06
Yeah, that, that's quite the bike. Yeah, that's a, that's a beautiful ride. All right, Dave, did we pry enough information out of you? Um, I don't know. Did you? [laughs] Are you, did, did we- 30 reports...
25:20
did you go, did you go to Marquette yet or is that coming up still? Uh, it's this weekend. So then you didn't go yet. We didn't go there. No. We didn't go there. We have not gone yet.
25:30
So you're gonna go up there tomorrow? That would be Saturday. Tomorrow? Saturday. Or Friday. Friday. Oh, you're going today. Today. Well, it's gonna be- So you're already there... gonna be really cold as hell today.
25:39
I am today. [laughs] I forgot to put my radio on. So you're already there. How is it? How is it in Marquette today? Yeah, it's gonna be cold up there, hey, today. Is it cold there today? No, it isn't actually.
25:49
I looked at, it's actually gonna be, it's gonna be warmer up there than it is here, so. Oh, that's good. Hmm. Yeah.
25:56
I heard it- It, uh, they're forecasting, like, 30 degrees and, like, partly sunny for the race day high Am, am I gonna have to look at, like, 800 pictures of you in that blonde beard that you get every time you go up there?
26:08
Yep. I thought so. [laughs] Probably. [laughs] So I heard- Um-... I, when we talked the other day, you said they were ramping it up to, like, 45 miles or something like that?
26:20
I guess that was just some sort of, uh, miscalculation which didn't make sense to me. On your part or on their part? Uh, we're guessing it's gonna be 39. Okay. [laughs] Well, it's still a good truck. That's a... Yeah.
26:30
US to metric to baguette. Well, Todd, the race director, um, I guess had a different wheel monitor on or some shit like that, which doesn't make any sense to me 'cause he r- he did it, uh, on, uh, Strava, so- K one...
26:44
you know, it doesn't go on wheel size setting, but he posted a 45.6 mile course all of a sudden. Well- But, you know- Fire that guy... that could be him just talking with people. Yeah, right.
26:56
[laughs] You should have him on the show one time. Yeah. That'd be interesting. One time. I, I guess we'll have to have you on the show next week too.
27:03
He won American Kiddos up there at Marquette there in 906, so he's got a good thing going on up there with all the trails. Hmm. Dig that groovy ride, huh?
27:11
Um, but yeah, he likes to mess with the, he likes to mess with the, uh, mileage settings and stuff like that, you know. Ah. But I guess rumor is that it's gonna be 39 miles. 39 miles. Psst, psst.
27:24
Which is nine more than I signed up for originally. [laughs] 30 miles more than Eminem would ever ride either. Like, yeah, I can do 30 miles no problem. [laughs] It's like, now it's 39, now it's rumored to be 45.
27:37
I was just like, "Oh, I'm gonna fucking can't save my bologna?" [laughs] What? And- That's the best... and- I'm sorry, I got- Curtains. Oh, that's- Um, so anyhow... that's gonna be hilarious in the podcast...
27:55
heard that "Oh, can't save my bologna?" [laughs] Fuckwit. All right. Bologna, bologna cats. I'm gonna pop that on, on the, uh, counter-top. Was that Spud Kenny or? Um, I think it was.
28:10
Or Spud Tony or, uh, Ruffles- Or no, Spud Tony... Ruffles Kenny. Pretty sure it was that little punk. Yeah, good job, buddy. You know. [laughs] It's hard to tell them apart. Way to go, Tony. Yeah. Good job. But yeah.
28:21
Um, it's gonna be a blast this weekend. Do you want a race report in writing and [laughs] again for your website? Well, sure, but it'd be even better if we just talked to you- Yeah...
28:31
on the podcast and then- Yeah, just call in for the podcast and tell us I don't know. We got this transcriber thing now that supposedly- Transcribes... transcribes all of our audio stuff.
28:39
I don't think it really works that well, but- Yeah... it'd be interesting to see what it actually comes up with. It's a very enjoyable chat. Is he part of the- He's, he, he's over there. [laughs] Just sitting over there.
28:48
He's just waiting. Waiting. All right. [laughs] Maybe there'll be a drunk call in Saturday night. Right on. Awesome. All right, dude. All right. See ya. All right, man. Talk to you over there. Yeah, bye. Bye.
29:00
There you go, callers, listeners. So there's, the, the options when we get rid of a caller are drop the caller, snooze the caller [laughs] or ban the caller. Oh, wow.
29:11
I don't even, I don't even know what would you, what's, what's- That seems very-... what's snoozing a caller? I- Just- Putting them on hold? Yeah.
29:15
Well, you can do that by just muting them, so I don't know what the snoozing is. Snoozing, they'll pop back up in five minutes. Maybe. Or- I don't know. That. We'll have to- Nine... we'll have to look at that later.
29:24
Oh, look, caller's back. So, uh, I guess the Polar- Hey, I'm here. [laughs] I, I guess the Polar Roll's this weekend then, which is up there in Marquette, Michigan area. Oh, yep. Some big old downhill.
29:34
This thing, now, they did this Alpine Valley downhill thing, which I'll have to listen to the replay of the podcast to hear- Yeah... about the report.
29:41
Um, and but in Italy they're doing the Lavinter Downhill at what looks like a much more alpine and probably better conditions for these big downhill things. Uh, you got your- And, and, and Italy. And in Italy.
29:58
[laughs] And Italy. [laughs] Italy. Um, in Salona, Iowa, the Lake Macbride Fat Tire Classic, Washburn, Wisconsin, Bike Across the Bay, which
30:06
I'm curious because they said you can't even get out to the ice caves now 'cause it's not frozen enough.
30:10
So I wonder if you can- But I think it's shallow enough that, n- I don't know From, from Bayfield to Washburn or whichever way it goes? I, I don't know.
30:18
I, don't quote me on that at all, but I just know that, like, like, uh, in Madison, like, um, lakes there- Yeah... you know, they freeze enough that you're gonna be cool. [laughs] I don't know.
30:32
I, but- But they break up right next to where it's cool, which- Yeah... usually freaks me out constantly.
30:38
Uh, it's, it's usually getting onto the lake from the shore where it's, it's the, the warmest, and then you fall in there and hopefully not in the deep part of it, but- I just don't trust any of that shit.
30:48
I don't, yeah, I know. Bike Across Bago, it's not more than eight or nine feet deep at any point on that lake, so. Well, yeah. Trying to go across- Whatever... Lake Michigan. It's a little deeper in some- Whatever...
30:56
yeah, but it is a pretty shallow lake. Trying to put- I mean, it's not Sinnissippi, which is four. Pretty much there's sandbars everywhere too.
31:01
Well, we were trying to do Across, uh, Lake Michigan, but k- [laughs] Not happening. It's, it's not happening this year... not happening.
31:07
It just ke- well, they put it off for a weekend after weekend after weekend, and apparently it just is not gonna happen. All righty. [laughs] Well, by cracky, we've wasted another half hour of your fine day.
31:19
Thanks for listening. I guess we'll have a race report next week from, uh, D. Luns, or either maybe- Mm... maybe Chuck Willie. Yeah. I don't know. Somebody that's not currently drunk anymore- Yeah...
31:31
about the old, uh, Polar Roll. So, uh- I'm sure we'll post pictures of 8,000 of those blondes they keep bringing up [laughs] up there. [laughs] Like, "Oh, I got some more." Nothing wrong with that.
31:41
All right, everybody, thank you for listening. Bye. You can call us and leave a message at 717-727-2453 unless- That's us... you wanna just call in on a Wednesday at 7:00 PM Central Standard Time. That spells week.
