- 0:01Changing human nature is a process of time and effort and
- 0:06is therefore subject to periods of waxing and waning of effort.
- 0:11Human beings tend to relax and enjoy their lives.
- 0:14When all things are going well. Thus, it is primarily in times
- 0:20of difficulty and stress. When we remember to focus on the
- 0:24need to inspire and concentrate, there are also periods of
- 0:30dullness with nothing actively engaging, the attention periods
- 0:35of boredom periods of ennui, periods of lassitude.
- 0:41Perhaps even to a greater extent than during periods of
- 0:45enjoyment. The focus is absent during these
- 0:48dull times. The challenge then is to engage
- 0:53the being to concentrate. The attention to tend the flame
- 0:58of aspiration through times of difficulty, but also through
- 1:03times of positive, external enjoyment and Times of emptiness
- 1:08or boredom. In fact, if this concentration
- 1:12can be engaged, if the seeking for the Divine, if the tending,
- 1:18the fire of aspiration becomes Central to Life of the
- 1:21individual. It can ensure that the times of
- 1:25boredom are minimized as life then becomes entry, aurobindo
- 1:30those words and adventure of consciousness.
- 1:35Even periods of dullness become times of observation review and
- 1:41can lead to new insights into the challenges facing those who
- 1:46desire to make a true change in nature. we tend to develop
- 1:51feelings of guilt or despair or a sense of our own unfitness
- 1:57when these challenges come to us, These things, however are
- 2:02not truly a cause for any moral Judgment of Fitness or
- 2:05righteousness, but rather an opportunity to explore the
- 2:10complex interaction of the different elements of the nature
- 2:15and the various forms of resistance that need to be
- 2:19understood and overcome. Some Seekers develop practices
- 2:25to see them through the times of difficulty, or lack of
- 2:28enthusiasm. This may involve devotional
- 2:32practices Collective study satsang kirtan or devotional
- 2:38efforts dedicated work or a regular practice of meditation
- 2:44that help. Keep the nature directed, These
- 2:48techniques can be useful. As long as they are not
- 2:51substituted for the inner work and do not become, simply
- 2:55mechanical in nature. Some find that a simple
- 2:59formulation of consecration, or dedication of oneself to the
- 3:03higher goal or purpose, renewed, daily can Aid this effort, One
- 3:09way or the other, a living flame of aspiration needs to be kept
- 3:14burning in the center of the beam.
- 3:18The mother observes quote. The next thing you have to do is
- 3:22to tend this aspiration to keep it always alert and awake and
- 3:27living instead of telling yourself once in a while.
- 3:31Oh yes. I am thinking of finding the
- 3:34Divine just when there is something unpleasant when you
- 3:38were a little disgusted because you feel tired, Indeed there are
- 3:42very many flimsy reasons all of a sudden, you remember that
- 3:47there is such a thing as yoga. Something like the Divine to
- 3:51know who can get you out of this flatness of life.
- 3:57And for that, what is required is concentration concentration
- 4:02upon the Divine with a view to an integral, an absolute
- 4:07consecration to its will and purpose.
- 4:10This is the second step that is to say you begin wanting to find
- 4:16a know, the Divine and live. It You must feel at the same
- 4:21time that the thing is so precious.
- 4:24So important that your entire life is not sufficient for
- 4:28acquiring it. Then the first movement is a
- 4:32self giving you tell yourself, I do not want any longer to belong
- 4:38to myself for the sake of my little personal satisfaction.
- 4:43I wish to belong to this marvelous thing, which one must
- 4:47find must know, No, must live and for which I inspired and
