Transcript
- 0:04Speaker: Hello and welcome to this Motortrade Radio Trade Value
- 0:08Speaker: special with Braigo powered by kazoo and hosted by Philip
- 0:15Speaker: Lockhard and Curtis Hutchinson.
- 0:24Speaker: Thank you for joining us on the Motortrade Radio podcast.
- 0:27Speaker: Today, we've got our regular
- 0:29Speaker: monthly episode looking at the
- 0:31Speaker: performance of used car trade
- 0:34Speaker: values.
- 0:34Speaker: And once again, we're joined by
- 0:36Speaker: a friend of the pod, Rupert
- 0:37Speaker: Pontin, head of Insight and
- 0:39Speaker: communication at Braigo, who
- 0:42Speaker: will take us through the key
- 0:43Speaker: trends that impacted trade
- 0:45Speaker: values over the course of
- 0:46Speaker: August.
- 0:47Speaker: So welcome back to the Motor Trade Radio podcast, Rupert.
- 0:50Speaker: We're we're looking forward to hearing how August panned out
- 0:53Speaker: and how trade values are looking as we go into the all important
- 0:57Speaker: September plate change.
- 1:00Speaker: So how's the number crunching been going this month?
- 1:03Speaker: Hi, Curtis.
- 1:03Speaker: It's good to be back.
- 1:04Speaker: Thank you.
- 1:05Speaker: Number crunching has been pretty intense, I've got to say.
- 1:08Speaker: There's been quite a lot to go through and to pull out the the
- 1:12Speaker: the right trends and see what's been going on in the marketplace
- 1:15Speaker: as a whole.
- 1:16Speaker: Um, I think probably I'm just going to just do a couple of
- 1:19Speaker: moments on what's been happening from a sales perspective.
- 1:22Speaker: And just to be clear, the data
- 1:24Speaker: that I've worked on has been
- 1:25Speaker: between the first of the month
- 1:27Speaker: and the twenty fourth of the
- 1:29Speaker: month.
- 1:29Speaker: Okay.
- 1:29Speaker: So yeah, I always need a couple of days just to make sure that
- 1:32Speaker: I've got everything in there.
- 1:33Speaker: But if we look at sales for the month through that period, we're
- 1:38Speaker: looking at a period where we've seen sales increase over the
- 1:41Speaker: previous month by just just shy of zero point four percent.
- 1:45Speaker: So it's nice to see a little bit of an upward movement there.
- 1:49Speaker: And that's positive overall.
- 1:50Speaker: But there are some interesting nuances in there.
- 1:53Speaker: We've seen quite an increase in
- 1:54Speaker: the number of pre-registered
- 1:56Speaker: sales.
- 1:57Speaker: They're up by seventeen point seven percent.
- 1:59Speaker: And we've also seen quite a bit of activity at the four year old
- 2:05Speaker: end of the market, where we've seen a drop in sales of about
- 2:08Speaker: five point three percent.
- 2:10Speaker: So when you look at it overall
- 2:12Speaker: and start breaking it down by
- 2:14Speaker: years, there's some really
- 2:15Speaker: interesting nuggets of
- 2:16Speaker: information that come out from
- 2:18Speaker: that.
- 2:18Speaker: And I mean, Rupert, I mean, you know, you say that you're
- 2:21Speaker: looking at that sort of up to the the twenty fourth.
- 2:25Speaker: And yeah, how would you describe, you know, the, the,
- 2:28Speaker: you know, the used car sales market at the minute and, you
- 2:32Speaker: know, those headline trade figures in, in August, um, how
- 2:36Speaker: they compare to, you know, this time last month and obviously
- 2:39Speaker: this time last year.
- 2:41Speaker: Well, I think this month has been a little bit more difficult
- 2:44Speaker: for the dealers.
- 2:44Speaker: There are people back on the forecourts and there are
- 2:47Speaker: inquiries coming through.
- 2:48Speaker: But generally speaking, they're having to work a little bit
- 2:51Speaker: harder to close the customers.
- 2:52Speaker: The customers are very cost conscious at the moment.
- 2:55Speaker: They're they're looking at
- 2:56Speaker: getting the best value they can
- 2:57Speaker: for money.
- 2:58Speaker: So it's, it's quite a challenge for them overall, I think, but
- 3:01Speaker: at least they still have people coming through the door, which
- 3:04Speaker: was not quite the same as it was the previous month, which was
- 3:07Speaker: very much a month of two halves, and I think that was interrupted
- 3:11Speaker: by sport, and I think it was interrupted by the good weather.
- 3:13Speaker: So now it's stabilised out a bit.
- 3:15Speaker: That's that's more positive.
- 3:16Speaker: And you know, it's nice to see that slight increase in sales
- 3:19Speaker: and those trade figures, what are they in terms of performance
- 3:22Speaker: of trade values.
- 3:24Speaker: Those those number of sales
- 3:26Speaker: etc.. How are they comparing
- 3:28Speaker: month on month, year on year at
- 3:29Speaker: the minute.
- 3:30Speaker: Well, let's move across then to
- 3:32Speaker: what's been happening with the
- 3:33Speaker: trade values as opposed to
- 3:34Speaker: sales.
- 3:35Speaker: And we've actually seen a
- 3:37Speaker: similar i.e. zero point four
- 3:38Speaker: percent change in the trade
- 3:40Speaker: price overall.
- 3:41Speaker: So it's an increase we've seen over the previous month of zero
- 3:44Speaker: point four percent.
- 3:45Speaker: And again, the detail is always the important part.
- 3:48Speaker: And I was fascinated to see that actually the trade values for
- 3:53Speaker: two year old vehicles increased more than anything else.
- 3:56Speaker: And there was a two point six
- 3:57Speaker: percent increase in in two year
- 3:59Speaker: old trade values, which I was
- 4:01Speaker: kind of expecting to see at
- 4:03Speaker: around the three year mark,
- 4:05Speaker: because we do see quite a lot of
- 4:07Speaker: activity in that part of the
- 4:08Speaker: marketplace.
- 4:09Speaker: There's a lot of three year old cars being defeated and coming
- 4:13Speaker: into the used market.
- 4:14Speaker: So a little bit of a surprise to see that.
- 4:16Speaker: On the negative side, it was nine year old vehicles that saw
- 4:19Speaker: the biggest drop in values, and that was a six point three
- 4:22Speaker: percent drop in the trade value.
- 4:25Speaker: But and I think that that equates to around four hundred
- 4:28Speaker: and ninety pounds or so.
- 4:30Speaker: So quite a big change there, which was a surprise.
- 4:33Speaker: But we have seen that trade values towards the older end of
- 4:37Speaker: the market have been a little bit a little bit unstable over
- 4:40Speaker: the past couple of months.
- 4:41Speaker: So, um, you know, we've got a
- 4:43Speaker: mix there at nine years, we've
- 4:44Speaker: seen a drop of six point three
- 4:45Speaker: percent, but older than ten year
- 4:47Speaker: old vehicles.
- 4:48Speaker: We've seen trade values come up by one point one percent.
- 4:51Speaker: So really interesting to, to be
- 4:52Speaker: able to go through the detail,
- 4:54Speaker: the data in more detail and see
- 4:56Speaker: what's happening.
- 4:56Speaker: And Rupert, we'll look at fuel trends in a moment.
- 4:59Speaker: But before we do, can you take us through some of the trade
- 5:02Speaker: value trends you've tracked over the course of the month by age
- 5:07Speaker: and market sector?
- 5:09Speaker: Sure.
- 5:10Speaker: So when we're looking at market
- 5:11Speaker: sector, um, this was
- 5:13Speaker: interesting.
- 5:14Speaker: So I've just focused on the top ten sectors.
- 5:16Speaker: Okay.
- 5:17Speaker: And when you just look at the
- 5:18Speaker: top ten sectors, actually the
- 5:20Speaker: average price, average trade
- 5:22Speaker: price has increased by one point
- 5:24Speaker: seven percent.
- 5:24Speaker: So quite a bit above the market average as a whole.
- 5:27Speaker: So obviously the smaller sectors
- 5:29Speaker: have been the ones that have
- 5:30Speaker: seen um a bit of a decline in
- 5:33Speaker: pricing.
- 5:33Speaker: The biggest movement came up for
- 5:35Speaker: trade values for the prestige
- 5:38Speaker: medium sector.
- 5:39Speaker: So that'll be sort of Audi A4, that type of vehicle.
- 5:42Speaker: And we saw an increase of one point five percent there, which,
- 5:45Speaker: uh, and uh, that, that also in terms of volume, I think the
- 5:50Speaker: volume change was an increase of three percent, just shy of three
- 5:54Speaker: percent in the volume of vehicles in that market sector.
- 5:57Speaker: Um, so that, that was interesting in itself.
- 5:59Speaker: The one that, uh, declined particularly was the lower
- 6:03Speaker: medium sector, where we saw a drop in trade prices of just
- 6:07Speaker: about one hundred.
- 6:08Speaker: Sorry, just about one percent.
- 6:09Speaker: Um, so, uh, it's been quite fascinating.
- 6:13Speaker: I mean, when we looked in terms
- 6:14Speaker: of the age, I think we covered
- 6:16Speaker: that off a little bit, uh, a
- 6:17Speaker: little bit more a little bit
- 6:18Speaker: earlier.
- 6:18Speaker: But, um, the, uh, the key age, uh, activity for me that I find
- 6:24Speaker: fascinating at the moment is for the three year old vehicles and
- 6:27Speaker: the pre reg market.
- 6:29Speaker: Uh, both of those are very lively at the moment.
- 6:31Speaker: The pre reg market that's coming off the back of H1, which ended.
- 6:36Speaker: And, uh, there were a lot of cars pre-registered at that
- 6:38Speaker: point and the volume of adverts, uh, climbed significantly.
- 6:42Speaker: And then there's this three year
- 6:43Speaker: sweet spot, I think, where we're
- 6:45Speaker: looking at a lot of interest
- 6:48Speaker: around electric vehicles, which
- 6:49Speaker: we'll see when we talk about the
- 6:51Speaker: best sellers, obviously, Rupert,
- 6:53Speaker: I mean, you know, fuel types is,
- 6:55Speaker: is obviously the, uh, always
- 6:57Speaker: the, uh, the main topic of
- 7:00Speaker: discussion.
- 7:01Speaker: And I mean, what trends have you been seeing by fuel, especially?
- 7:04Speaker: obviously those EVs and the the plug in hybrid market.
- 7:09Speaker: Yes.
- 7:10Speaker: So this is really interesting for me because we do have a lot
- 7:14Speaker: of discussion around what's going on with the Zev mandate
- 7:17Speaker: and so forth.
- 7:17Speaker: Electric vehicle volumes increased by.
- 7:22Speaker: This is for adults, obviously by five point nine percent.
- 7:25Speaker: So very clear indication that there are more of them coming
- 7:27Speaker: back into the marketplace.
- 7:29Speaker: Um, when you compare that
- 7:31Speaker: perhaps with, uh, the petrol
- 7:32Speaker: where you see one point six
- 7:34Speaker: percent and then it starts to
- 7:35Speaker: get really, uh, quite
- 7:36Speaker: interesting because you start to
- 7:38Speaker: get to the smaller fuel types,
- 7:40Speaker: propulsion types.
- 7:41Speaker: There was actually a drop of zero point nine percent in terms
- 7:44Speaker: of adverts for hybrid vehicles.
- 7:46Speaker: Plug in hybrids went up by six percent.
- 7:49Speaker: And then there were some really
- 7:50Speaker: big changes in volume terms, the
- 7:52Speaker: plug in hybrid diesel, it's a
- 7:54Speaker: small part of the market, I
- 7:56Speaker: grant you, but there was an
- 7:57Speaker: increase of thirteen point two
- 7:59Speaker: percent.
- 8:00Speaker: Whereas for plug in hybrid Petrols, there was a drop of
- 8:03Speaker: four point three percent.
- 8:05Speaker: Um, and that actually with the
- 8:06Speaker: plug in hybrids, less of those
- 8:08Speaker: around.
- 8:09Speaker: And actually there was a drop in
- 8:10Speaker: average price of four point four
- 8:12Speaker: percent.
- 8:12Speaker: Uh, that's trade price.
- 8:14Speaker: So perhaps that is signifying
- 8:16Speaker: that there is quite a bit of
- 8:17Speaker: demand there.
- 8:18Speaker: And it's for the more expensive vehicles.
- 8:20Speaker: Um, so you see those more
- 8:22Speaker: expensive vehicles coming out of
- 8:24Speaker: the adverts.
- 8:24Speaker: And then thus we see that drop of four point three percent.
- 8:28Speaker: Well we'll be back after this short break with more from
- 8:30Speaker: Drago's trade values and Rupert after this break.
- 8:35Speaker: You're listening to a motor trade radio trade value special
- 8:39Speaker: with Braigo powered by kazoo.
- 8:42Speaker: Welcome back.
- 8:44Speaker: Now, Rupert you track the Chinese OEMs very closely.
- 8:49Speaker: We know from the latest Smmt figures that they are pretty
- 8:52Speaker: much driving new car sales growth in the year to date.
- 8:56Speaker: But what trends stood out for
- 8:58Speaker: you in August amongst some of
- 9:00Speaker: the newer Chinese brands finding
- 9:02Speaker: their feet in the used car
- 9:04Speaker: market?
- 9:05Speaker: Yeah, Curtis, you're absolutely right.
- 9:06Speaker: There's an enormous amount of
- 9:07Speaker: interest in Chinese cars at the
- 9:09Speaker: moment.
- 9:09Speaker: And we see a plethora of new brands coming into the market.
- 9:13Speaker: And of course, the way in which
- 9:15Speaker: those new those vehicles are
- 9:17Speaker: delivered as new often impacts
- 9:19Speaker: what happens with the new
- 9:20Speaker: market, because we've got the
- 9:21Speaker: arrival of those vehicles at
- 9:23Speaker: staggered intervals coming to
- 9:24Speaker: the marketplace.
- 9:25Speaker: But you're right, the new car registrations have gone up.
- 9:28Speaker: When we look at what's been
- 9:29Speaker: going on in terms of the
- 9:32Speaker: activity specifically for the
- 9:34Speaker: month of um of August is, well,
- 9:39Speaker: I've got a bit of data here as
- 9:40Speaker: well.
- 9:40Speaker: But if we look at the total
- 9:42Speaker: number of listings during that
- 9:44Speaker: period, the they have increased
- 9:46Speaker: by six point nine percent month
- 9:49Speaker: on month.
- 9:50Speaker: So we've seen total Chinese market.
- 9:53Speaker: And I'm excluding here the sort of legacy Chinese owned brands
- 9:57Speaker: such as Volvo, such as smart, uh, Lotus and so forth.
- 10:01Speaker: So really particularly sort of
- 10:03Speaker: BYD E J Q Chery, that type of
- 10:05Speaker: thing.
- 10:05Speaker: Everything.
- 10:06Speaker: And in terms of sales, just a
- 10:08Speaker: slight increase at zero point
- 10:09Speaker: three percent.
- 10:10Speaker: But the devil is always in the detail.
- 10:12Speaker: And it's interesting looking at
- 10:13Speaker: which manufacturers did better
- 10:15Speaker: than others.
- 10:15Speaker: So if you look at at BYD month
- 10:18Speaker: on month sale, used car sales
- 10:20Speaker: increased by zero point six
- 10:21Speaker: percent.
- 10:22Speaker: But if you look at Jaiku, they've had a really big push
- 10:25Speaker: recently and there's an increase of nineteen point eight percent.
- 10:29Speaker: So that's a significant upward jump.
- 10:31Speaker: Likewise, with Leap Motor, they
- 10:33Speaker: showed a forty seven percent
- 10:35Speaker: increase.
- 10:35Speaker: Obviously Leap Motor have got far fewer cars in the market.
- 10:38Speaker: But if you look through the
- 10:42Speaker: media, you can see some really
- 10:44Speaker: cracking deals, leasing deals on
- 10:46Speaker: those.
- 10:46Speaker: And I know that if you're
- 10:47Speaker: working through looking for a
- 10:49Speaker: new car through Carwow and so
- 10:51Speaker: forth, you can get some really
- 10:52Speaker: good discounts on those as they
- 10:54Speaker: they push those in towards the
- 10:56Speaker: marketplace.
- 10:56Speaker: It's a very, very exciting place at the moment.
- 10:59Speaker: Now, I was just going to add,
- 11:00Speaker: um, it is a very dynamic
- 11:02Speaker: marketplace, isn't it, at the
- 11:04Speaker: moment with these Chinese brands
- 11:06Speaker: coming in, um, in some, in some
- 11:09Speaker: volume.
- 11:10Speaker: Now, um, is there anything that
- 11:14Speaker: really stands out for you in
- 11:16Speaker: terms of the performance of the
- 11:18Speaker: Chinese brands?
- 11:20Speaker: Yeah, I think for me, what we're
- 11:22Speaker: seeing is that there are far
- 11:24Speaker: there are we're beginning to
- 11:25Speaker: start to see the influx of the
- 11:27Speaker: Chinese used cars coming onto
- 11:29Speaker: the marketplace.
- 11:30Speaker: We know with the new cars, some
- 11:31Speaker: of them have done some rental
- 11:33Speaker: deals and we'll see them
- 11:34Speaker: shortly.
- 11:34Speaker: But it's it's watching the volume of adverts increase over
- 11:37Speaker: the next six months or so.
- 11:39Speaker: So when we're talking about
- 11:40Speaker: what's happened in terms of used
- 11:43Speaker: car adverts, uh, we're looking
- 11:45Speaker: at a month in August so far
- 11:47Speaker: where the Chinese vehicles take
- 11:49Speaker: zero point nine percent or zero
- 11:51Speaker: point nine five percent, sorry,
- 11:52Speaker: of the share of adverts in the
- 11:55Speaker: marketplace.
- 11:55Speaker: Now, if we wind that back down
- 11:57Speaker: back to August twenty twenty
- 11:59Speaker: five, it was zero point two five
- 12:01Speaker: percent.
- 12:01Speaker: So you can see over the course of the year we're seeing we've
- 12:05Speaker: seen quite a change in that.
- 12:07Speaker: Now that's going to accelerate, as I said, when more start to
- 12:10Speaker: deplete and come off the the short term PCP that they were
- 12:13Speaker: maybe put on to start with the sort of two year or so.
- 12:16Speaker: And that, that so that I find very interesting to watch.
- 12:20Speaker: And in terms of sales, we're
- 12:22Speaker: looking at, uh, a ratio of,
- 12:24Speaker: again, very close to zero point
- 12:26Speaker: nine percent in relation to the
- 12:27Speaker: volume of, uh, of total market
- 12:30Speaker: of total volume of sales, used
- 12:32Speaker: car sales in the market as a
- 12:34Speaker: whole.
- 12:34Speaker: And the average price has
- 12:36Speaker: changed quite significantly as
- 12:37Speaker: well.
- 12:38Speaker: So that's sitting at twenty five
- 12:39Speaker: thousand six hundred and eighty
- 12:41Speaker: nine in August this year, but
- 12:43Speaker: was twenty one thousand seven
- 12:44Speaker: hundred and eighty eight last
- 12:45Speaker: year.
- 12:46Speaker: And I think that's because we've seen more of an explosion of,
- 12:50Speaker: uh, the sort of mid-range SUVs, large SUVs that are coming over,
- 12:55Speaker: uh, that have been sold and they are being sold.
- 12:58Speaker: And those are obviously higher in price.
- 13:00Speaker: So I think that's what's affected it there.
- 13:03Speaker: But yeah, it's a really, really
- 13:05Speaker: constantly moving marketplace
- 13:07Speaker: and it's going to get more
- 13:08Speaker: exciting.
- 13:09Speaker: As we see, as I say, more cars come back.
- 13:11Speaker: I mean, you mentioned there that retail advert volumes.
- 13:15Speaker: How how is that been looking for August.
- 13:19Speaker: I mean, you know, what's the age profile looking like.
- 13:22Speaker: You know what's the actual month on month volumes etc. looking
- 13:25Speaker: like in the marketplace.
- 13:26Speaker: So if we're looking at home
- 13:27Speaker: market advert volumes, the
- 13:29Speaker: change that we have seen month
- 13:32Speaker: on month from July to August has
- 13:34Speaker: been one point five four
- 13:35Speaker: percent.
- 13:35Speaker: So just a slight increase.
- 13:38Speaker: And that is kind of expected at this time of year.
- 13:41Speaker: There are more cars sitting in the wholesale environment, but
- 13:45Speaker: the dealers and the sales rate, yes, we've seen that upturn in
- 13:48Speaker: sales, but there's always a slight imbalance during August
- 13:52Speaker: in terms of supply and demand as people sort of take last minute
- 13:56Speaker: summer holidays and so forth.
- 13:57Speaker: Um, but advert volumes by age are quite interesting.
- 14:01Speaker: Um and we see the, uh, the change, uh, and I'm looking now
- 14:06Speaker: just for a second at year to date volumes where we've seen
- 14:09Speaker: that the biggest change has been a drop of twenty three percent
- 14:13Speaker: in the number of sixty year old cars available for sale over the
- 14:17Speaker: course of the between January and August this year.
- 14:20Speaker: And I find that astonishing, and
- 14:22Speaker: I think that is a clear
- 14:23Speaker: indication of the, uh, there is
- 14:26Speaker: demand, obviously, for that that
- 14:27Speaker: age vehicle.
- 14:28Speaker: But remember, we're going back
- 14:29Speaker: to vehicles that were
- 14:31Speaker: registered, uh, the pandemic
- 14:33Speaker: time.
- 14:33Speaker: Uh, and, uh, I think they're
- 14:35Speaker: just less of them in the
- 14:36Speaker: marketplace.
- 14:37Speaker: Uh, but, uh, the growth in terms
- 14:39Speaker: of advert volumes, uh, over the
- 14:41Speaker: course of the year has been, uh,
- 14:43Speaker: in the older cars, in the older
- 14:45Speaker: cars.
- 14:45Speaker: So eight year old vehicles up
- 14:47Speaker: nine percent, nine year old
- 14:48Speaker: vehicles up seven percent, ten
- 14:50Speaker: year old vehicles up twelve
- 14:51Speaker: percent older than ten years,
- 14:53Speaker: eighteen percent.
- 14:54Speaker: So more of those cars available.
- 14:56Speaker: Uh, so yeah, but generally speaking, I think adverts are in
- 15:01Speaker: advert volumes are in a good place in relation to demand.
- 15:04Speaker: And Rupert, your analysis also covers the month's fastest
- 15:08Speaker: selling used cars.
- 15:10Speaker: Who were August's winners?
- 15:11Speaker: Who were amongst this month's winners?
- 15:14Speaker: Okay, so fastest sellers for the
- 15:16Speaker: whole market in July, sorry, in
- 15:19Speaker: August twenty twenty six were
- 15:21Speaker: the m g h s one point five T,
- 15:23Speaker: and that was at eight point
- 15:26Speaker: three eight point four days to
- 15:27Speaker: sale.
- 15:28Speaker: Okay, so I'm looking at vehicles here.
- 15:29Speaker: We've had a minimum of fifty sales.
- 15:31Speaker: So you take the the real outliers out of it.
- 15:33Speaker: So the MG was in first place.
- 15:35Speaker: The Chery Tiggo eight was in
- 15:37Speaker: second place at ten days to
- 15:39Speaker: sale.
- 15:39Speaker: And that was followed by Leap
- 15:41Speaker: Motor and another M G in fourth
- 15:44Speaker: place.
- 15:44Speaker: And finally the Renault Arcana in fifth place.
- 15:47Speaker: Now that's quite a different
- 15:48Speaker: picture from what we saw last
- 15:50Speaker: year, where it was the Audi
- 15:52Speaker: e-tron fifty five Quattro
- 15:54Speaker: Technik that sat at the fastest
- 15:56Speaker: seller.
- 15:57Speaker: And, you know, there were no Chinese vehicles in that top
- 16:02Speaker: five as we have this year.
- 16:04Speaker: So it was an Audi was a Vauxhall.
- 16:06Speaker: Uh, there was an m G. Sorry, but that that's a more established
- 16:10Speaker: Chinese brand and then a mini and a BMW.
- 16:12Speaker: So quite a change when you look at it year on year.
- 16:15Speaker: And you know, I think, um, for me, obviously there's a lot, a
- 16:18Speaker: lot going on.
- 16:19Speaker: I think for me, you know,
- 16:20Speaker: finding out what's happening
- 16:21Speaker: with those Chinese manufacturers
- 16:23Speaker: as we continue to sort of
- 16:25Speaker: monitor what that starts to look
- 16:26Speaker: like.
- 16:26Speaker: And I know it's, it's something
- 16:28Speaker: that you're closely monitoring,
- 16:29Speaker: Rupert around, you know, as we
- 16:31Speaker: start to see those early returns
- 16:33Speaker: from those first entrants into
- 16:35Speaker: the the new car market, I think
- 16:38Speaker: clearly, I mean, we've touched
- 16:39Speaker: on it last month, but obviously
- 16:41Speaker: trying to monitor how they stand
- 16:42Speaker: up as a used proposition in the
- 16:44Speaker: market.
- 16:45Speaker: And I know you are aware, but obviously some of the lead times
- 16:49Speaker: are increasing, aren't they, for some of the, uh, the new entrant
- 16:52Speaker: manufacturer now, particularly on certain makes and models that
- 16:56Speaker: they've got quite a long lead times, aren't they?
- 16:58Speaker: Yeah.
- 16:58Speaker: They have got long lead times.
- 16:59Speaker: I think there's been a great deal of demand for, uh, the, uh,
- 17:03Speaker: JQ seven, uh, and lead times on those have accelerated.
- 17:07Speaker: Uh, there's been, uh, more demand overall.
- 17:10Speaker: So if you're looking to get specific colors or specific
- 17:12Speaker: specs, certain models are now sort of three four months away.
- 17:16Speaker: And it's very difficult for the, for the dealers to be able to
- 17:20Speaker: predict when those cars are actually going to arrive.
- 17:22Speaker: And, you know, I was just looking briefly there, just out
- 17:26Speaker: of the corner of my eye at the fastest sellers on EVs.
- 17:29Speaker: And, you know, this time last year, we were seeing a more
- 17:33Speaker: traditional legacy set of brands in, in the top five.
- 17:36Speaker: So the Audi, uh, Kia Niro, uh, a Tesla Model Y, um, but you know,
- 17:42Speaker: for August twenty twenty six, fastest selling two, the top two
- 17:46Speaker: fastest selling EVs are leap motor now leap motor weren't
- 17:50Speaker: even here this time last year.
- 17:52Speaker: You know, sitting at leap Motor B10 at nine point two days and
- 17:55Speaker: an average price of twenty eight and a half thousand, a C10 in
- 17:58Speaker: second place, eleven point three days to sale, thirty one
- 18:01Speaker: thousand nine hundred and ninety eight average price.
- 18:04Speaker: You know, there's quite a been
- 18:05Speaker: quite a change in in what we're
- 18:07Speaker: seeing.
- 18:08Speaker: Uh, and you know, that that's, that's a good thing to see
- 18:11Speaker: because it shows the market is evolving, but maybe slightly
- 18:14Speaker: scary for those legacy brands.
- 18:16Speaker: Yeah, yeah.
- 18:17Speaker: There's a there's a lot going on.
- 18:19Speaker: And I mean, just to say thank
- 18:20Speaker: you for, you know, coming on
- 18:22Speaker: today.
- 18:22Speaker: And again, as always, for anybody that hasn't been
- 18:25Speaker: listening to our monthly trade value update with yourself,
- 18:28Speaker: Rupert, how can those listeners get in touch with you?
- 18:31Speaker: How can they sort of do a bit
- 18:32Speaker: more of a deep dive into some of
- 18:34Speaker: the data and analysis that
- 18:35Speaker: you're continually looking like
- 18:37Speaker: looking at at the minute, and
- 18:39Speaker: how do they get involved with
- 18:40Speaker: with Rego?
- 18:41Speaker: Well, the best way is just to reach out to me either on
- 18:44Speaker: LinkedIn or via my telephone number, which is shown on
- 18:48Speaker: LinkedIn, and I can put you in touch with the commercial team
- 18:51Speaker: that will show you the platform, show people the Rego platform,
- 18:55Speaker: which has some really good features, which will allow
- 18:58Speaker: people to do a deep dive.
- 18:59Speaker: One.
- 19:00Speaker: One in particular is our insight tool, and that effectively is
- 19:04Speaker: the tool I use to prepare all the data when we talk.
- 19:06Speaker: It enables people to question our data set, query our data
- 19:10Speaker: set, and ask any question that they wish about what's going on
- 19:14Speaker: in the used car marketplace.
- 19:15Speaker: But the platform itself, very structured, very easy to use,
- 19:19Speaker: and the best way to get a grip on how that works.
- 19:21Speaker: You can have a free demo, you can have it on trial.
- 19:24Speaker: It's as simple as that.
- 19:25Speaker: Well, Rupert, many thanks once
- 19:27Speaker: again for joining us for this
- 19:29Speaker: month's roundup of the trade
- 19:31Speaker: values.
