- 0:00[SPEAKER_01]: Five, six, seven, eight, fall at the Firefly?
- 0:03[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, come on.
- 0:17[SPEAKER_00]: Hi, everybody.
- 0:17[SPEAKER_00]: Welcome back to Gilmour to say with Terran Haley.
- 0:19[SPEAKER_00]: I'm Terran.
- 0:19[SPEAKER_00]: This is Haley.
- 0:20[SPEAKER_00]: Hi, Haley.
- 0:21[SPEAKER_00]: Hi, Terran.
- 0:21[SPEAKER_00]: I almost said, I Haley.
- 0:23[SPEAKER_00]: I'm just last time I did that.
- 0:24[SPEAKER_00]: Oh my god.
- 0:24[SPEAKER_00]: It's been a minute.
- 0:25[SPEAKER_01]: Oh my gosh.
- 0:26[SPEAKER_01]: It's late in the day.
- 0:27[SPEAKER_01]: It's late in the day.
- 0:27[SPEAKER_00]: I was going to say this is our second episode of the day.
- 0:30[SPEAKER_01]: But what a beautiful day.
- 0:31[SPEAKER_01]: This has been such a fantastic day.
- 0:33[SPEAKER_00]: This has been a fantastic week.
- 0:35[SPEAKER_00]: We've had a really lovely week together.
- 0:37[SPEAKER_01]: I didn't tell you this.
- 0:38[SPEAKER_01]: I put it on my story, but yesterday when I got in the cab on the way to your apartment,
- 0:42[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, driver, I said how are you doing?
- 0:44[SPEAKER_01]: And he said I'm good.
- 0:45[SPEAKER_01]: How are you doing?
- 0:45[SPEAKER_01]: I said I'm actually having a fantastic day.
- 0:48[SPEAKER_01]: And he said, okay, then then the song is for you and he turned on the country song goodbye.
- 0:52[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, I saw your story and I was so cute.
- 0:54[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, my.
- 0:57[SPEAKER_01]: Like the energy you get back it's true.
- 1:01[SPEAKER_01]: I felt like so excited about it And so I just feel like I've been having such a good time not to bury the lead But we're in Connecticut.
- 1:07[SPEAKER_01]: We're having a Gilmourkel's fall.
- 1:09[SPEAKER_01]: We are so far maxing So we had to come to Connecticut and we have been in-bopping.
- 1:14[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, the top 10 ins and you're gonna be good And let me tell you this is the top one
- 1:21[SPEAKER_00]: Oh my gosh.
- 1:22[SPEAKER_01]: This is the cutest place I've ever been in my life.
- 1:25[SPEAKER_01]: I want to move in.
- 1:26[SPEAKER_00]: It's cute.
- 1:26[SPEAKER_00]: It's called the Firefly Inn and it's part of the Kent Collection in Kent, Connecticut, which can definitely on the list of like some towns that inspired Star's Hollow.
- 1:35[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
- 1:36[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously, we know that Washington Depot is like the town that inspired Amy and the show.
- 1:41[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 1:41[SPEAKER_01]: And they had fest.
- 1:42[SPEAKER_01]: It's
- 1:42[SPEAKER_01]: Were they in cat one year?
- 1:43[SPEAKER_01]: I believe they were.
- 1:44[SPEAKER_01]: I think that's what it was.
- 1:45[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:45[SPEAKER_01]: That's why I did the name.
- 1:46[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
- 1:47[SPEAKER_00]: And I know it because it's not too far.
- 1:48[SPEAKER_00]: It's maybe like 45 minutes away from where I live.
- 1:50[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 1:51[SPEAKER_00]: And so it's just north of New Melford, which we were at a cook for an episode.
- 1:54[SPEAKER_00]: We aired a couple of weeks ago.
- 1:55[SPEAKER_00]: It was just a couple hours ago for us.
- 1:57[SPEAKER_00]: We just drove in there.
- 1:58[SPEAKER_00]: Let's just jump on that episode when we did our Labor Day episode so it's just a little north of there and it's a trio of ends, the Firefly, the Victorian and then they have these really cute little like train house cabins, cottages, so the trio of them make up the catacottis and place on the planet.
- 2:15[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah and John has just been like, I'm Kelly, and Kelly, they've both been so wonderful and so accommodating and we're just we feel so at home here,
- 2:26[SPEAKER_00]: you can stay.
- 2:26[SPEAKER_01]: We're like, we're going back to my campus, but like, move on, can you stay forever?
- 2:31[SPEAKER_00]: It's what I felt like I felt like grandma.
- 2:34[SPEAKER_00]: We got the latest being of grandma.
- 2:35[SPEAKER_00]: We're just gonna go back and stay at my grandma's house for this trip, but we are going to be back.
- 2:39[SPEAKER_00]: And we have some plans in the works with the Kent Collection.
- 2:42[SPEAKER_00]: So we need to come back and keep your ears off.
- 2:43[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, we really would.
- 2:45[SPEAKER_01]: Keep your ears open.
- 2:46[SPEAKER_01]: Keep your ears open, keep your ears open.
- 2:48[SPEAKER_01]: We have some plans.
- 2:48[SPEAKER_00]: We need more to say.
- 2:51[SPEAKER_00]: We do famously, but this is our favorite episode of the year.
- 2:53[SPEAKER_00]: It's our how-to-how-to-gill-more-girls fall episode, which we've done.
- 2:56[SPEAKER_00]: This is our fourth version of this or fourth iteration, but a fifth fall.
- 3:00[SPEAKER_00]: It is our fifth fall together.
- 3:01[SPEAKER_00]: The first one was an autumn matter, which we did in 2022, where we went through all of the fall episodes.
- 3:06[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, made like a master list of fall episodes.
- 3:09[SPEAKER_01]: Why it feels like fall?
- 3:10[SPEAKER_01]: Why people lean into that?
- 3:12[SPEAKER_01]: I just like always remember leaving that episode and being like, that wasn't even that good.
- 3:16[SPEAKER_01]: And it was like still one of our top episodes.
- 3:18[SPEAKER_00]: People love it and I thought that's like my own lore at that episode of being like was that even good But that always happens when I'm like was that even good and it is people end up loving it Yeah, thank god y'all be the people y'all the people you are people it's true But in 2023 we did how to have a Gilmore Girls ball for the first time And it was so much fun because we were able to take you know the feeling of Gilmore girls and pull it off screen and into our own lives And yeah, make this list of like how can you have a Gilmore girls ball at home?
- 3:46[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, because you're already watching Gilmour Girls after I got about you, you probably didn't start in the fall.
- 3:51[SPEAKER_01]: Or if you do, you know, I feel like our like hardcore listeners are watching you're around, but some people just tap in in the fall.
- 3:57[SPEAKER_01]: And that's great.
- 3:58[SPEAKER_01]: And we're going to have you back road that you're here.
- 4:00[SPEAKER_01]: But we already know that you're watching Gilmour Girls.
- 4:02[SPEAKER_01]: So we want to take it a little bit beyond that.
- 4:04[SPEAKER_01]: So if you want to get into the fall mood and the Gilmour to say way, and the Gilmour Girls way, but you're already watching Gilmour Girls.
- 4:10[SPEAKER_01]: You can go back to 2023 to the
- 4:14[SPEAKER_00]: And then our second was not called how to have a girl's father.
- 4:16[SPEAKER_01]: It was how to have a girl's road trip.
- 4:18[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it was the road trip for Gilmour Girls only because in 2023, Haley and I had taken this whole road trip.
- 4:24[SPEAKER_00]: It was the last time you were here in Connecticut with me and it was so funny to see you put yourself down in my grandma's room because it brought back such a memory.
- 4:31[SPEAKER_01]: And I like had like I knew exactly where I was.
- 4:33[SPEAKER_01]: So I knew I had been there all the time.
- 4:35[SPEAKER_01]: Totally.
- 4:36[SPEAKER_00]: And she was like, I remember going through outfits together of what we were going to wear and it was so funny because we were newly girls that were newly girls now.
- 4:42[SPEAKER_00]: We'll talk really in a little bit when we talk about what we're wearing this year.
- 4:46[SPEAKER_00]: But we had such a wonderful time revisiting like the road trip that we took from my little corner of the world in Brookfield to New Millford to Hartford to Boston.
- 4:56[SPEAKER_00]: two ports meant to be answered to a gun quit main for the road trip to fan fast.
- 5:02[SPEAKER_00]: And so revisiting that and also talking about the locations you can stop at and feel like and of course we also went to the Mayflower Inn which was so special and lovely.
- 5:11[SPEAKER_00]: So we got to talk about all those little stops and if you're wanting to do your road trip, how to make your own Gilmore Girls Road Trip even if you're not in Connecticut.
- 5:19[SPEAKER_01]: We did a little like what you could look for.
- 5:21[SPEAKER_01]: That was where I was like
- 5:23[SPEAKER_01]: Just driving to the trees.
- 5:24[SPEAKER_00]: And what I meant was like, just driving to the forest.
- 5:26[SPEAKER_01]: So it's with like beautiful scenery.
- 5:29[SPEAKER_01]: But it came out wrong as if you've been here for a while.
- 5:32[SPEAKER_01]: Things come out.
- 5:34[SPEAKER_01]: Things come out wrong.
- 5:34[SPEAKER_00]: But it's also kind of like a how to build your own Gilmore Girls Road Trip.
- 5:38[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
- 5:38[SPEAKER_00]: Stopping on a diner, stopping on a bookstore.
- 5:41[SPEAKER_00]: Even if it's not in Connecticut, finding that version of your small town in the fall that can just like put you in the state of mind.
- 5:50[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, because it's a state of mind.
- 5:52[SPEAKER_00]: It really is.
- 5:53[SPEAKER_01]: on the street and we will be leaving house of the books.
- 5:56[SPEAKER_00]: I'm Haley Seyla.
- 6:01[SPEAKER_01]: So excited.
- 6:01[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, we did the next year.
- 6:03[SPEAKER_00]: We did how to have a Gilmournal Twll this was last year in 2025.
- 6:05[SPEAKER_00]: We re-eared our first one from 2023 because last fall was the 25th anniversary.
- 6:11[SPEAKER_01]: Oh yeah.
- 6:12[SPEAKER_00]: So we were re-earing episodes and like really trying auto-maxing on-maxing to the max.
- 6:18[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and so we re-eared our first How to Kill Farm, most following different, that's different.
- 6:25[SPEAKER_00]: And then we did kind of an updated how to how to kill more role-small.
- 6:28[SPEAKER_00]: And so this year, I, of course, was like, well, we have to do our regular kind of, let's go through what we're eating, what we're watching, what we're being reading, what we're drinking, yes, what we're drinking, which currently is out of the Kent Collection cops, which are so cute.
- 6:42[SPEAKER_00]: I'm drinking just some tea with a splash of oat milk and honey.
- 6:46[SPEAKER_00]: It's become like my soft cozy little pre-bed ritual, my, yeah, we all need that.
- 6:54[SPEAKER_00]: I've got my superhero mocktail.
- 6:55[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, this is my superhero mocktail.
- 6:58[SPEAKER_01]: This is also a superhero mocktail.
- 6:59[SPEAKER_01]: What is it?
- 7:00[SPEAKER_00]: It's a witch's free will on it.
- 7:03[SPEAKER_00]: It's spooky when you're asleep, you know?
- 7:06[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not trying to go to sleep.
- 7:07[SPEAKER_01]: I'm trying to wake up.
- 7:08[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, totally understand, but that's what I'm drinking here.
- 7:12[SPEAKER_00]: And we wanted to do that, but one of the things that feels like it's very trendy this year, but also one of the reasons why I think people really gravitate towards Gilmore Girls is everybody's in kind of like an analog era.
- 7:24[SPEAKER_00]: We as a society are kind of turning the clock back a little bit, pre-screen,
- 7:29[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, there's a strong movement, like it's trendy on socials to kind of find ways to disconnect from your phone.
- 7:35[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, from your phone life.
- 7:36[SPEAKER_00]: We thought it would be really fun because we had a no cell phone summer to have an analog on them.
- 7:42[SPEAKER_00]: And we wanted today's episode to be like, how do have a good world's fall analog style?
- 7:46[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
- 7:47[SPEAKER_01]: analog very specifically because we recognize that y'all are watching this on your phone, on your iPad, on your computer, on your TV, very connected digitally, and we don't have a disconnect from you.
- 7:57[SPEAKER_00]: No, I think that like the analog movement is how to maintain having like things to do with your hands, ways for your brain to not raw on social media while also existing in 2026 because our phones are not going away.
- 8:11[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, so it's like, how can we actively still build relationships like via community and like even online?
- 8:19[SPEAKER_00]: Cause that's our community is online.
- 8:20[SPEAKER_00]: You guys are here with us online.
- 8:22[SPEAKER_00]: Haley and I met online, we're not getting online connections.
- 8:25[SPEAKER_01]: So many like on Thursday, we're going to go on house gas, which is Kinsey Elizabeth podcast.
- 8:29[SPEAKER_00]: We'll talk about that a little bit there that like yeah, far be it for us to tell you to disconnect from your phone because
- 8:35[SPEAKER_01]: We might be disconnected from you from you and like that's how we met Kenzie, you were in a line.
- 8:39[SPEAKER_01]: And so there's a way to like, I feel like curate your life online to like feel very like aligned with you, disconnecting with people who make you feel a certain way that you don't want to feel and just finding that.
- 8:52[SPEAKER_01]: And that's not so much what we're going to talk about today, but I think that is a move that you can make too feel better about being online, but it's also like your brain offline just feels better.
- 9:01[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not gonna lie it's so true and you know of all people because you've been breaking a lot I do break quite a lot Yeah, but I will say it has made me like social media more Because when I'm breaked I'm not on it I mean I will click on it and then it'll say get back to living and like you're so right But also don't judge me because I wanted to be on there totally
- 9:20[SPEAKER_01]: But when I do unbreak and get on, I'm like, oh my gosh, look at what my friends are doing, look on my friends are eating, I know, look at this needle point video so much fun.
- 9:30[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, but I haven't on a schedule, so like it'll turn off after an hour.
- 9:33[SPEAKER_01]: And so then I don't get back on.
- 9:34[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I connected with so many people.
- 9:36[SPEAKER_01]: I saw it everyone's up.
- 9:37[SPEAKER_01]: to like but like I feel that more so about scrolling because I love to turn on YouTube video we're doing someone's doing something slow like living a life while you need a point like totally like there's a way to connect with the internet and your digital life that isn't completely cord cutting because it's just like not what we're here to do no you just I just think the cords right now it's just literally if you saw the other side of this it's just cord support and so we're not going to cut them we're not going to disconnect from y'all
- 10:03[SPEAKER_00]: No, definitely not.
- 10:04[SPEAKER_00]: I just think that we're at a crossroads right now where it's like we could continue going down this path of just like allowing technology to really like weed us where it leads we both that's what I was like trying to avoid.
- 10:22[SPEAKER_00]: or we could because people yearn for that nostalgia, especially with Gilmore Girls, and that's what we talk a lot about on our show.
- 10:30[SPEAKER_00]: It feels like a period piece, but people want to escape to stars hollow because it feels like a simpler time.
- 10:35[SPEAKER_00]: And it's like you could also create the simpler time right now.
- 10:38[SPEAKER_00]: Right now.
- 10:39[SPEAKER_00]: And that's what we want to talk about today.
- 10:40[SPEAKER_01]: do.
- 10:41[SPEAKER_00]: But first, I would really love to do like a little mini touch base on what we normally talk about with how to have a Gilmore girls fall because it changes every year.
- 10:49[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, there are things that stay the same.
- 10:50[SPEAKER_00]: But there are some things that change because we, of course, talk about like what we're eating, what we're wearing, what we're drinking, what you're reading, because let's face it.
- 10:59[SPEAKER_00]: I know.
- 10:59[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm going to be you're getting into reading.
- 11:01[SPEAKER_00]: I am getting into reading a little bit.
- 11:02[SPEAKER_00]: It's not, it's not, it's not, it's not.
- 11:04[SPEAKER_01]: That was like literally the reverse of what has been for the last like almost five years where you're like Oh, I read a book and I'm like, you have never read on your life.
- 11:11[SPEAKER_01]: Don't lie to them.
- 11:12[SPEAKER_01]: So that was like growth Like I'm not gonna grow.
- 11:16[SPEAKER_01]: No, but you've been reading quite a lot especially after we had little miss M. M. I love her so much Love her so much her books are so fantastic and so I feel like you're probably gonna lean more into that
- 11:27[SPEAKER_00]: That's true.
- 11:28[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 11:29[SPEAKER_00]: You're in the Burmans.
- 11:30[SPEAKER_00]: And true.
- 11:30[SPEAKER_01]: And I do love a good audiobook.
- 11:32[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, yes.
- 11:33[SPEAKER_00]: I'm an audiobook girl.
- 11:34[SPEAKER_01]: Especially her.
- 11:35[SPEAKER_01]: It's Julia Whalen.
- 11:36[SPEAKER_01]: I seek out.
- 11:37[SPEAKER_01]: If I the moment that I find out that that woman is voicing and breeding the book, I'm done.
- 11:42[SPEAKER_01]: I'm like, OK. Let's give the book.
- 11:43[SPEAKER_01]: Go and just break the audiobook.
- 11:45[SPEAKER_00]: Because she improves every.
- 11:47[SPEAKER_01]: She's really good as she great big beautiful life.
- 11:49[SPEAKER_01]: She does all of them.
- 11:50[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, she's so good every Every Emily Henry she does tailoring can's read to the audiobook for her book atmosphere is quite Simply one of the best performances.
- 11:59[SPEAKER_01]: I've ever listened to.
- 12:01[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, I love it.
- 12:02[SPEAKER_00]: You're so much.
- 12:03[SPEAKER_01]: I'm excited.
- 12:06[SPEAKER_00]: Two of the girls, well let's just start there like what are you reading like if you could recommend for me Who's like kind of getting into reading of who's I'm gonna keep down the track of like Emily Henry Which I really want Emily Henry to write like a fall centered, but I know she's such a summer Reeve she is and we love it.
- 12:23[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, no, I love it But I just I was thinking about that the other day when we were talking about an MN7 That it's based on the holiday or it's loosely loosely, but I'm sorry
- 12:34[SPEAKER_00]: fall book she doesn't to like get me in the fall move I feel like book lovers is like because reading and like Gilmore rolls like that feels very you've got mail for some reason a small town feels like fall and it that's the girl's effect if it's not it's true it's true so like that I feel would be a really good read Emily Henry like atmosphere or um universe wise yes but other than that I'd really love your recommendations for you well we also have to mention that John Stevens is coming out of the
- 13:02[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, which I'm very excited about.
- 13:04[SPEAKER_01]: That one I think is called the Age of Innocence.
- 13:07[SPEAKER_01]: Very excited for that.
- 13:08[SPEAKER_01]: I write hard for a mafia book, like Obsessed.
- 13:11[SPEAKER_01]: Some really excited about that.
- 13:13[SPEAKER_01]: But a book series that we did for August Book Club is the Unselected Journals of M.M.
- 13:18[SPEAKER_01]: Lion by M1.
- 13:20[SPEAKER_01]: I think that you would really like this.
- 13:21[SPEAKER_01]: One because they're novellas.
- 13:23[SPEAKER_01]: And two because they're, well, some of them, they're all like,
- 13:27[SPEAKER_01]: under 300 pages.
- 13:28[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 13:28[SPEAKER_01]: And they're like shorter at the beginning, of course.
- 13:31[SPEAKER_01]: And then they get longer as they go along.
- 13:32[SPEAKER_01]: And there's nine volumes out now.
- 13:34[SPEAKER_01]: She's intended to have 20, but it's not the same.
- 13:38[SPEAKER_01]: But it sounds like a lot, but it's like one of those things with stars hollow.
- 13:42[SPEAKER_01]: It's a world that you want to stay in.
- 13:44[SPEAKER_01]: It's a world that you want to like,
- 13:45[SPEAKER_01]: live in that I read it every night before I go to bed because I want to save for it because it feels like such a safe town and it feels so much like 1880's London Startholome and it's kind of the joke is like of course when you publish your journals they're selected journals of this person totally because they're unslected it's like everything from Emma and I think that sometimes like a pistolary novels that are written in like journal form a letter form and
- 14:11[SPEAKER_01]: can be kind of like off-putting, unless it really benefits the storytelling, totally, because she also includes dialogue.
- 14:19[SPEAKER_01]: There will be some entries where it's a paragraph long of what happened that day, or it's like several pages long, dialogue included, but she goes back to her house where she's about to forget what the phrasing of it, but she's about to turn 21, which is her majority, and so she'll be the owner of the house.
- 14:38[SPEAKER_01]: is the caretaker of the house.
- 14:39[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, interesting.
- 14:40[SPEAKER_01]: And she has kind of run it into the ground and he's crazy.
- 14:43[SPEAKER_01]: And so she has to move in until she can be the rightful owner of the home.
- 14:48[SPEAKER_01]: And he's like a crazy person.
- 14:50[SPEAKER_01]: He's kind of like Taylor Dosey on steroids, but like does not have productive.
- 14:54[SPEAKER_01]: Like that's why I see in my mind, I see Michael Winters as her cousin.
- 14:58[SPEAKER_01]: But she has like a little maid that is super cute.
- 15:00[SPEAKER_01]: is profound, but then there's like we meet a Duke and the local vicar is a vicar as I say that.
- 15:07[SPEAKER_01]: I think it's vicar.
- 15:08[SPEAKER_01]: Vicar is very young and very attractive.
- 15:11[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, but then this mysterious man moves into the smaller portion of the house because she needs to make some money so they rent it.
- 15:21[SPEAKER_01]: out and he's a photographer and very cute and you don't really know what's going on with him and then she has all these friends that come over and she has a very controlling ant.
- 15:31[SPEAKER_01]: And so it's like hearing everything from her perspective feels a little bit like lore lie but a little bit like worry because she's obsessed with reading.
- 15:38[SPEAKER_01]: She loves Shakespeare but the town itself is very weird, very quirky.
- 15:42[SPEAKER_01]: Some of the shop owners don't like her, some places she can't go because she's a woman.
- 15:46[SPEAKER_01]: And it's just so fascinating like the end of the first one feels so cinematic like it feels like it ends with a title card And like we go out to song and you just want to start the second one so much You meet so many people that like you kind of have like a hard time keeping track of them at first But when you get to the second one and like start I would recommend reading the first one like eyeball read it and then audio the invested them totally But just so you get like a handle on all of the characters
- 16:12[SPEAKER_01]: But then you meet new people as you go along and she forms new relationships but she's also like grieving the loss of her love who died in the war.
- 16:20[SPEAKER_00]: Oh God.
- 16:20[SPEAKER_00]: And so it's very rare.
- 16:21[SPEAKER_01]: So many layers.
- 16:22[SPEAKER_01]: So many layers.
- 16:23[SPEAKER_01]: And it's in novella.
- 16:24[SPEAKER_01]: So it feels like it shouldn't.
- 16:25[SPEAKER_00]: I was gonna say, this is in novella.
- 16:27[SPEAKER_00]: Truly.
- 16:28[SPEAKER_00]: But it's so much fun.
- 16:29[SPEAKER_01]: It's so it's like really a world that you want to sync into and stay there.
- 16:33[SPEAKER_01]: And so you're almost like wait, there's only 20 volumes.
- 16:36[SPEAKER_01]: So I only have 11 left.
- 16:38[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 16:38[SPEAKER_01]: And so when you go into it, you're like, well.
- 16:40[SPEAKER_01]: how am I going to get into this, but then you're like wait, and then it never will come into it.
- 16:44[SPEAKER_01]: I'm really into it.
- 16:46[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and it's fantastic.
- 16:48[SPEAKER_01]: And I will say to try to get on the podcast, but she's busy.
- 16:51[SPEAKER_00]: That's okay.
- 16:51[SPEAKER_00]: That's busy.
- 16:52[SPEAKER_01]: But I still think that y'all would love that.
- 16:54[SPEAKER_01]: I think that you would really like it.
- 16:56[SPEAKER_00]: It's not really about like it kind of feels like there's like three teams romantically because of the day like three men in her life.
- 17:03[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 17:03[SPEAKER_01]: But I don't see it that way like I haven't picked a team because it just doesn't feel very romantically inclined.
- 17:08[SPEAKER_01]: They all feel like such good friends of hers.
- 17:11[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 17:11[SPEAKER_00]: It's like infatuation because they're all very attractive.
- 17:14[SPEAKER_00]: Totally.
- 17:15[SPEAKER_00]: But that one for sure.
- 17:17[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 17:18[SPEAKER_01]: Add it to the list.
- 17:18[SPEAKER_01]: Add it to the list.
- 17:19[SPEAKER_01]: It just feels like if you want stars hollow in a novel that feels very different from stars.
- 17:23[SPEAKER_00]: I was going to say, yeah, that's the one.
- 17:25[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, love.
- 17:26[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, also we're going to have her on the podcast in a couple weeks.
- 17:29[SPEAKER_01]: I'm on Harry Keyes.
- 17:30[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, I love her.
- 17:31[SPEAKER_01]: Oh my gosh.
- 17:32[SPEAKER_01]: Once in a timeline.
- 17:33[SPEAKER_00]: I can't wait to read it.
- 17:34[SPEAKER_00]: It's sitting on my desk.
- 17:35[SPEAKER_00]: I am so excited.
- 17:36[SPEAKER_01]: I already started it and it's like, I just love a month writing so much, but it's the concept is like roundhugs day, but it's for an influencer who gets caught in her own day in the life vlog.
- 17:47[SPEAKER_01]: And so she has to like find a way out of her own vlog.
- 17:51[SPEAKER_01]: Wow.
- 17:51[SPEAKER_01]: But there's this guy.
- 17:52[SPEAKER_01]: There's always this guy who he kind of can recognize what's going on most.
- 18:00[SPEAKER_01]: But like the moment that I was like wait, influence her second her own day in the life lab, must read, must read.
- 18:06[SPEAKER_00]: And she's just like, it's so funny.
- 18:07[SPEAKER_01]: Like her writing is so funny.
- 18:09[SPEAKER_01]: There's always a twist at the end that always has me shocked.
- 18:13[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 18:13[SPEAKER_01]: And I expect that from this one.
- 18:15[SPEAKER_01]: They're totally for that.
- 18:16[SPEAKER_00]: Wow, that's so cool.
- 18:17[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 18:17[SPEAKER_01]: But I think what I'm most excited about is there is a American girl doll book
- 18:22[SPEAKER_01]: Wait, you're so right.
- 18:23[SPEAKER_01]: I forgot about that.
- 18:24[SPEAKER_01]: Samantha, um, but it's Samantha was my girl.
- 18:27[SPEAKER_01]: But she's grown up.
- 18:28[SPEAKER_01]: Did you have Samantha?
- 18:29[SPEAKER_01]: I didn't.
- 18:30[SPEAKER_01]: Well, I was not an American girl.
- 18:31[SPEAKER_01]: Girl, I, then, no, no, no.
- 18:34[SPEAKER_01]: Listen, listen, I was a bitty baby.
- 18:36[SPEAKER_01]: So like, I was, right, we were just talking about this.
- 18:38[SPEAKER_00]: You're a tin can.
- 18:39[SPEAKER_00]: We did talk about the labor I had it didn't can.
- 18:41[SPEAKER_00]: I had it didn't can to get a baby baby But like my sister had Molly and Samantha Kate Okay, and then Hannah have kid.
- 18:48[SPEAKER_00]: I want a kid so bad, but I was a Samantha girl through and throw see this makes sense Yes tell this daughter and Samantha oh my gosh you guys if you're on YouTube Tara is kind of dress like Samantha
- 18:58[SPEAKER_01]: I am kind of dressed like some of the kind of a Samantha.
- 19:00[SPEAKER_01]: We, that's so real.
- 19:02[SPEAKER_00]: So cute.
- 19:02[SPEAKER_00]: That's so funny.
- 19:03[SPEAKER_01]: Samantha has, like, she's older now.
- 19:05[SPEAKER_01]: And she's living in New York.
- 19:06[SPEAKER_01]: And she's advocating for women to vote for the new present because women just gained voting rights.
- 19:11[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
- 19:12[SPEAKER_01]: Her inheritance had been, like, scammed from her family.
- 19:15[SPEAKER_01]: And so she's broke.
- 19:16[SPEAKER_01]: And so now she has to figure out what happened to her inheritance.
- 19:19[SPEAKER_01]: Oh my God.
- 19:20[SPEAKER_01]: So excited for that.
- 19:21[SPEAKER_00]: It's going to be so late.
- 19:22[SPEAKER_00]: I'm so excited because when I was at your house over the summer, I saw the American girl doll magazine and I was just like, oh my god, all that original girl these are making a comeback.
- 19:31[SPEAKER_00]: I know because they're celebrating like how many years of American girl doll many, something that made me feel so old.
- 19:38[SPEAKER_00]: And I was like, oh no, but I just, I love my Samantha is somewhere in my bedroom.
- 19:43[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah, we still have, we're waiting because like of course it was Summi's magazine.
- 19:47[SPEAKER_01]: She let's one of her favorite books to read as the American Girl Catalog.
- 19:50[SPEAKER_01]: Of course, a divin her own right and we're waiting because she's not quite old enough to know what to do with a expensive doll so we only buy her an expensive doll until she can be more until
- 20:01[SPEAKER_00]: So she can be more caring and more caring and respectful of her toys.
- 20:04[SPEAKER_00]: I had a true lore like Gilmore style.
- 20:07[SPEAKER_00]: Like, this happened at, yes, the dragonfly because it was when lore light and Luke broke up when they had the tea party with her dolls.
- 20:13[SPEAKER_00]: So, yes.
- 20:15[SPEAKER_01]: I did that for an American girl doll.
- 20:17[SPEAKER_00]: Like, it was an American girl doll theme to dress up like your dolls.
- 20:20[SPEAKER_00]: So I wore my mom made me like a Samantha dress.
- 20:23[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, I got any pictures.
- 20:24[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, we all have pictures.
- 20:25[SPEAKER_00]: We have to have them somewhere.
- 20:27[SPEAKER_00]: Wait, that's so funny.
- 20:27[SPEAKER_00]: We're tossing a gene after this.
- 20:29[SPEAKER_01]: You can talk to her.
- 20:34[SPEAKER_00]: I'm so excited to read that.
- 20:36[SPEAKER_00]: As a millennial woman, like, an American girl doll all grown up in New York City and you're kidding me, that's so neat.
- 20:44[SPEAKER_01]: I look, he feel like we have to reread the Little Samantha book, the Kamos Samantha and then and the mini one.
- 20:48[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, remember she had a little, she had a little mini.
- 20:50[SPEAKER_00]: She had a little mini book.
- 20:51[SPEAKER_01]: Of course she loved miniature things and then I feel like we then we need to read the book But I feel like those are just like cozy books to dive into and also a good time to get to mystery books I feel like you can like look up any like Gilmore girls inspired But like also in our past episodes if you want to go back I think in the first one I listed so you did you had so many recommendations yes, but and a lot of them were like well Not a lot of them, but some of them were based on like even movies that we consume
- 21:18[SPEAKER_00]: like if you are a movie medium versus like a reading medium, there is something for you.
- 21:23[SPEAKER_01]: But also Gilmourcher Reed, every book is picked with the intention of finding a theme or character for an aspect or just the writer that feels like an aspect of Gilmourcher.
- 21:34[SPEAKER_01]: girls.
- 21:35[SPEAKER_01]: So I feel like just going back through the Gilmour to read catalog.
- 21:38[SPEAKER_01]: I was just trying to think of books that have like come out or coming out this fall that feel like they're once that you want to read another one I'm looking forward to.
- 21:46[SPEAKER_01]: I'll that's that's be my last one otherwise we're going to sit here and talk about books the whole time.
- 21:50[SPEAKER_01]: It turns into a Gilmour to read episode is John Green is writing his first adult novel.
- 21:54[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, cool.
- 21:55[SPEAKER_01]: Did you ever read or the followers did you see the followers?
- 21:58[SPEAKER_00]: It did not.
- 21:59[SPEAKER_00]: Oh,
- 21:59[SPEAKER_00]: Tara.
- 22:00[SPEAKER_00]: I know.
- 22:00[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 22:01[SPEAKER_01]: So Tara's media list this fall is the fault in our stars.
- 22:05[SPEAKER_01]: You have to watch it.
- 22:06[SPEAKER_01]: But I absolutely love John Green so much.
- 22:09[SPEAKER_01]: And so now he has his first adult fiction novel called Hollywood Ending.
- 22:13[SPEAKER_01]: Hollywood comma ending.
- 22:15[SPEAKER_01]: And it is about finding trust where the people and an untrustworthy world.
- 22:20[SPEAKER_01]: That's like the tagline for it.
- 22:22[SPEAKER_01]: So excited.
- 22:23[SPEAKER_01]: It's one of those books that I actually don't want to read the synopsis for.
- 22:26[SPEAKER_00]: So if you want the synopsis,
- 22:27[SPEAKER_01]: You will not find it here because I'm purposely not reading it because that is a book I really want to enjoy.
- 22:32[SPEAKER_01]: And so when I know I want to enjoy a book, I don't read anything about it beforehand.
- 22:35[SPEAKER_01]: Wow, okay.
- 22:36[SPEAKER_00]: But it's shungering.
- 22:37[SPEAKER_00]: So okay.
- 22:39[SPEAKER_00]: I know it's going to be good.
- 22:40[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I know I'm going to love it.
- 22:41[SPEAKER_00]: So totally.
- 22:41[SPEAKER_01]: If you do want to read a synopsis for that one, they are available.
- 22:44[SPEAKER_01]: Not here.
- 22:45[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 22:47[SPEAKER_01]: on analog yourself and look it up but that was like that's my favorite way to enjoy book is like starting on page one knowing nothing like maybe not even knowing the character names I don't there is something fun about that it's like mysterious it's a mystery within a mystery it's it's every book is a mystery if you know nothing about it going in it's true
- 23:05[SPEAKER_01]: But I just also feel like as a writer, the intention of the writer is that you don't know anything about it beforehand, just read it.
- 23:11[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 23:12[SPEAKER_00]: And so I kind of like that.
- 23:13[SPEAKER_01]: I kind of like going in with that.
- 23:15[SPEAKER_00]: This is what you intended.
- 23:16[SPEAKER_00]: This is what God intended.
- 23:17[SPEAKER_01]: This is what God intended.
- 23:18[SPEAKER_01]: This is what the writer intended.
- 23:19[SPEAKER_00]: The reader gods intended.
- 23:20[SPEAKER_00]: The reader gods.
- 23:20[SPEAKER_00]: But so true.
- 23:21[SPEAKER_00]: Also the author.
- 23:22[SPEAKER_00]: And also the author.
- 23:23[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 23:24[SPEAKER_00]: So fair.
- 23:24[SPEAKER_01]: What are you going to dive into?
- 23:25[SPEAKER_01]: Are you going to read any?
- 23:26[SPEAKER_01]: Is there anything that you're like, I've heard a lot about this book and I want to read it?
- 23:30[SPEAKER_00]: Well, John Stevens, you reminded me, I really want to have this book.
- 23:34[SPEAKER_01]: If y'all really, if y'all haven't listened to his episode, he talks a bit more about the book in that episode, have to read it.
- 23:39[SPEAKER_00]: But we also, we got together with Lucy and Lauren from Gallery Books yesterday, and there are some books on the horizon that they do this about, that we are very excited for.
- 23:48[SPEAKER_01]: Oh gosh, talk about that.
- 23:49[SPEAKER_01]: Kelly Bishop.
- 23:50[SPEAKER_01]: We have not recorded with Kelly Bishop.
- 23:52[SPEAKER_00]: Not yet, but we're recording with her in two weeks.
- 23:53[SPEAKER_01]: But at the time of this, y'all will have listened to the Kelly Bishop episode on the last Thursday.
- 23:59[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I hope so.
- 24:00[SPEAKER_01]: Oh well.
- 24:01[SPEAKER_00]: I hope you guys had a good time.
- 24:02[SPEAKER_00]: I hope you had a great time.
- 24:02[SPEAKER_00]: I hope we did too.
- 24:04[SPEAKER_01]: You know we will.
- 24:05[SPEAKER_01]: You know we will.
- 24:06[SPEAKER_01]: So excited.
- 24:06[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, me too.
- 24:07[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 24:08[SPEAKER_01]: Um, but that's why we were with them.
- 24:09[SPEAKER_01]: They're incredible shout out to them.
- 24:11[SPEAKER_01]: We love them.
- 24:12[SPEAKER_00]: So they were telling me about a couple of books.
- 24:14[SPEAKER_00]: So I'm definitely going to see if I can get more into my little dabble.
- 24:17[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, but as far as what I'm watching, I mean, I'm such a creature of habit.
- 24:21[SPEAKER_00]: I'm watching you've got mail.
- 24:22[SPEAKER_00]: I'm watching when Harry Metzallie.
- 24:24[SPEAKER_00]: I'm watching practical magic, which we did talk about on Kenzie Elizabeth's podcast.
- 24:28[SPEAKER_00]: I passed a sign for practical magic too because the second one's coming out also, so like you have to, but Kenzie's never seen it.
- 24:34[SPEAKER_00]: And I was like, girl, lock in.
- 24:35[SPEAKER_00]: I know she's got a lock in it.
- 24:36[SPEAKER_00]: I don't want to give too much away about what we talked about now.
- 24:39[SPEAKER_00]: It's a secret, but I just want like you guys should totally go listen to the episode that it's released on Thursday It's it's fun.
- 24:45[SPEAKER_00]: We just the app and I adore her, but um, also clue is a is a favorite of mine and Tim Curry at the time we're recording this just passed away I'm very very sad my household is very sad too because Brett is a
- 24:58[SPEAKER_00]: Such a fan.
- 24:58[SPEAKER_00]: He's a huge dolly Barton fan, and he's a huge Tim Curry fan.
- 25:01[SPEAKER_00]: So like Which we also talk about in Kenzie's episode of Houseguess?
- 25:05[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, exactly.
- 25:06[SPEAKER_00]: So I'll stop talking about Also birthday to all the things that I said, but it's true.
- 25:11[SPEAKER_00]: So those are like the four movies that I Without fail have to watch in a ball on top of Gilmore Girls, but it was so funny I know we also talked about this on Kenzie's podcast, but you guys will appreciate it deeply because
- 25:24[SPEAKER_00]: I come in yesterday, it was yesterday.
- 25:26[SPEAKER_00]: Before I left for Kenzie's podcast, I was getting ready for it, and Brett just turned on Gilmore Girls.
- 25:32[SPEAKER_00]: And he turned on Edo Clock at the Oasis.
- 25:35[SPEAKER_00]: And it was such a beautiful episode.
- 25:37[SPEAKER_00]: It was, and I was like, I wonder.
- 25:39[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it's not though.
- 25:40[SPEAKER_00]: It's a summer episode.
- 25:42[SPEAKER_00]: It was decked out for fall in the background.
- 25:45[SPEAKER_00]: It took me a second to figure out what episode it was, because fall everywhere.
- 25:49[SPEAKER_01]: Edo Clock at the Oasis.
- 25:51[SPEAKER_01]: No, it feels like it should be summer because- But it's a full episode, I was like, one of, it's one of the other.
- 25:55[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, no, I was like, I know.
- 25:56[SPEAKER_00]: Promise you.
- 25:57[SPEAKER_00]: It's just white in the lawn.
- 25:58[SPEAKER_01]: No, it's because, it's because Jess is so weird.
- 26:01[SPEAKER_01]: So weird.
- 26:02[SPEAKER_00]: So weird.
- 26:03[SPEAKER_00]: Really, I was doing my hair, and I just like, I'm like, if it ain't summer, but it was one of those things where like, I full body came out.
- 26:09[SPEAKER_00]: I was just like doing my hair, watching it.
- 26:10[SPEAKER_00]: I was seeing this because I was just like, there he is, there's my reality.
- 26:15[SPEAKER_00]: But just Brett watching it, he just turned it on.
- 26:18[SPEAKER_00]: And you know what we've written about it's really great now.
- 26:21[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, you never had to skip the intro, but on Netflix you always had the option of skipping the intro.
- 26:26[SPEAKER_00]: You cannot do it on prime or at least can.
- 26:28[SPEAKER_01]: You can.
- 26:29[SPEAKER_01]: It didn't give us the option.
- 26:30[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, anytime I've ever done it, it doesn't give us the option.
- 26:32[SPEAKER_00]: And I was like, notice how you can't skip the intro and he goes the intro is part of it.
- 26:37[SPEAKER_01]: It was like Mary is Mary may you get done.
- 26:40[SPEAKER_01]: I want me to give him your word.
- 26:44[SPEAKER_00]: into mom we have no that really sweet so obviously that will be on the background but it was one of those things where he turned it on and I was like oh my god I love this because this is just for enjoyment doing this the way that we do we typically watch Gilmore girls because we're going to talk about it in a very specific way on podcasts I always say watching Gilmore girls for work
- 27:02[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, exactly.
- 27:03[SPEAKER_00]: And with Brett, you know, we would watch Gilmore Girls because I was like, we've got to get through this not like in a not in a way that was like negative, but just in a way where he's like looking to like book it because like he had a he had a podcast recording day.
- 27:14[SPEAKER_01]: Exactly.
- 27:15[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 27:16[SPEAKER_00]: So this just felt like, oh, Gilmore Girls is on.
- 27:18[SPEAKER_01]: And it was a fall episode and it was just like this is so nice.
- 27:21[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, locked in.
- 27:22[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, so I was of course obviously really excited to watch it.
- 27:24[SPEAKER_00]: And I have a couple other shows that I'm really excited to double in with, uh, we talked about it with Kenzie this fall that are just going to feel like fall.
- 27:33[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm very excited about them.
- 27:34[SPEAKER_00]: So you guys can check that out on Thursday.
- 27:36[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
- 27:37[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, love.
- 27:37[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 27:38[SPEAKER_01]: It's just a time for rewatching.
- 27:39[SPEAKER_01]: It really is rewatching, re-listening.
- 27:41[SPEAKER_01]: Like you can like I feel like rewatching our old fall episodes feels like In keeping with Gilmour Road Maxing like autumn Maxing totally Gilmour Maxing feels so wrong because of Maximum Dean Max.
- 27:52[SPEAKER_00]: Maximum Dean Gilmour Maxing.
- 27:55[SPEAKER_01]: But I feel like rewatching your faves, but like rewatching movies that you haven't seen, like there's just so many things to dive into, outside of Gilmore Girls.
- 28:05[SPEAKER_01]: Also making a Gilmore watchlist if there's like things that they watch that you haven't seen yet.
- 28:09[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 28:11[SPEAKER_01]: I know, because I don't watch Casablanca.
- 28:13[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, but also there's so many things that you haven't seen that I need you to why.
- 28:17[SPEAKER_01]: What?
- 28:18[SPEAKER_00]: Oh my gosh, as you said that, the one that I had in my mind actually put a lot of my head.
- 28:22[SPEAKER_01]: It's like telling me more, so I'm going to be arted in as it's operating and so some guests were leaving and I was like, I was like, bye, which I like love that there's like in place that I'm in operating around us and I completely, no, there's like one that like you haven't seen it yet.
- 28:37[SPEAKER_01]: It's a movie that I love and you haven't seen it yet.
- 28:41[SPEAKER_01]: We were talking about it because Brasson scene princess diaries.
- 28:44[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, I know, and you're like, never seen it, and I'm like, what in the world?
- 28:48[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, it's going to come back to us.
- 28:49[SPEAKER_00]: It's going to come back.
- 28:49[SPEAKER_00]: I remember this conversation.
- 28:51[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
- 28:51[SPEAKER_01]: I remember what it was, and like, I had it on the tip of my tongue, and then it, they let took it with them when they left.
- 28:56[SPEAKER_00]: I'm, I thought, bye-bye.
- 28:59[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, one of the other things that we did, especially when we, the first time we did, how to have a girl in the world's fall was what we are wearing.
- 29:05[SPEAKER_00]: And Kenzie asked me that on the podcast and I have like, did you know what to say because like, I'm such like, you know, going naked.
- 29:11[SPEAKER_00]: I'm streaking.
- 29:12[SPEAKER_00]: Um, but it's been okay.
- 29:14[SPEAKER_01]: We're that's a tie.
- 29:15[SPEAKER_01]: I'm wearing subtitles and nothing else.
- 29:17[SPEAKER_01]: It took a subtitle on him.
- 29:18[SPEAKER_01]: I wanted to have a silk scarf somewhere.
- 29:20[SPEAKER_01]: Someone has a silk tie fall.
- 29:21[SPEAKER_00]: I'm wearing nothing else.
- 29:23[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
- 29:24[SPEAKER_00]: But I have been so hyper focused on what I'm wearing for the wedding.
- 29:28[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, because like when thinking about like what kind of fall I'm having all year been like what kind of year am I having?
- 29:33[SPEAKER_00]: What kind of summer am I having?
- 29:34[SPEAKER_00]: What kind of fall am I having?
- 29:35[SPEAKER_00]: I'm like bride.
- 29:36[SPEAKER_00]: Sadie Sadie.
- 29:37[SPEAKER_01]: You were like buttercream vanilla.
- 29:39[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, for exactly.
- 29:39[SPEAKER_01]: And I was like girl.
- 29:40[SPEAKER_01]: I should just say bridal.
- 29:42[SPEAKER_00]: It reminds me of her a scholar when she's like they're gonna pick a ridiculous shade of white and call it Angel's kiss Yeah, that's my entire personality of this year.
- 29:48[SPEAKER_01]: No, because I ask you because like we define our falls our summers and that sort of thing like I wanted to have a very sprinkle summer Which I did and so I kind of want to have another sort of like vibe and I'm going to have a honeyfall
- 30:04[SPEAKER_00]: Cute.
- 30:05[SPEAKER_00]: I love that.
- 30:06[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, that's also so in line with teddy bear fall.
- 30:08[SPEAKER_01]: It is very very lovely honey, but it's also because of course this is my pink year.
- 30:13[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, right.
- 30:14[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 30:14[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
- 30:15[SPEAKER_00]: I feel like forever ago that we determined that.
- 30:17[SPEAKER_01]: It does feel like forever ago and I have very much lived up to it.
- 30:20[SPEAKER_01]: Like my phone cases pink.
- 30:22[SPEAKER_01]: My,
- 30:22[SPEAKER_01]: I have a paint like this.
- 30:23[SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to wear yellow bag.
- 30:25[SPEAKER_01]: No, it has my hand on.
- 30:26[SPEAKER_01]: No, I don't know.
- 30:27[SPEAKER_01]: I'm hitting my tongue.
- 30:28[SPEAKER_00]: But I looked over and I was like, you're like, that is yellow.
- 30:30[SPEAKER_01]: But I felt like it was like warm yellow is kind of the vibe.
- 30:35[SPEAKER_01]: Like, but like butter yellow is also it's very summary, but you can incorporate it.
- 30:40[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, there's a lot of butter yellow.
- 30:41[SPEAKER_01]: It's just like a sweetness, it's like honey when you pour it like out of the little, little bunny, the little bear, you know.
- 30:48[SPEAKER_01]: It moves quite slowly.
- 30:50[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 30:51[SPEAKER_01]: It sticks to everything.
- 30:52[SPEAKER_01]: And I think I just want to like sat down to everything.
- 30:55[SPEAKER_01]: I want to stick to everything.
- 30:56[SPEAKER_01]: I want to stick to everything.
- 30:57[SPEAKER_01]: I want to stick to everything.
- 30:58[SPEAKER_00]: I want to stick to everything.
- 30:59[SPEAKER_00]: I want to stick to everything.
- 31:00[SPEAKER_00]: I want to stick to everything.
- 31:01[SPEAKER_00]: I want to stick to everything.
- 31:01[SPEAKER_01]: I want to stick to everything.
- 31:02[SPEAKER_01]: I want to stick to everything.
- 31:03[SPEAKER_01]: I want to stick to everything.
- 31:04[SPEAKER_01]: I want to stick to everything.
- 31:05[SPEAKER_01]: I want to stick to everything.
- 31:07[SPEAKER_01]: I want to stick to everything.
- 31:08[SPEAKER_01]: I want to stick to everything.
- 31:09[SPEAKER_01]: I want to stick to everything.
- 31:10[SPEAKER_01]: I want to stick to everything.
- 31:11[SPEAKER_01]: Well, I'm having a honey auto.
- 31:12[SPEAKER_00]: So that's really, really, really great.
- 31:16[SPEAKER_00]: I'm having bye.
- 31:17[SPEAKER_01]: I also, I think it's like honey, like it's like endearing, treat people, right?
- 31:22[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 31:22[SPEAKER_01]: Like a honey to people, like sweetness and other people.
- 31:26[SPEAKER_01]: Like it made me remember, it reminded me of a, that woman needed help.
- 31:29[SPEAKER_01]: And I was like, I just want to help everyone.
- 31:30[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, you know, if you're someone who needs help, I want to be someone that you can be like,
- 31:34[SPEAKER_01]: I can walk up to you and be like, I'm going to help you and I have credentials to do so.
- 31:37[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, this was a mom who was by herself and my credentials for that.
- 31:40[SPEAKER_01]: I'm an aunt and I love being an aunt.
- 31:43[SPEAKER_01]: She owns a wallet.
- 31:44[SPEAKER_01]: I'm like my phone and there's a little girl just like Cinderella singing.
- 31:47[SPEAKER_01]: I'm like, see, I promise I'm good.
- 31:49[SPEAKER_01]: I swear I swear.
- 31:50[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 31:50[SPEAKER_01]: And so I just want to have a honeyfall.
- 31:52[SPEAKER_01]: And I just like love that lady also because I put my teddy bear sheets.
- 31:56[SPEAKER_01]: I like fully prepared for fall before I left you Did you come back and it was fall?
- 32:00[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, because I like decorated for fall I put my teddy bear sheets when you go home and it'll be September It will be September, but I have to tell you I've fully been in fall since we know August I bought a pumpkin vanilla candle like the first week of August.
- 32:11[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, I've been
- 32:12[SPEAKER_00]: I smelled the candle in Anthropology and I said, uh, and summers over, summers over.
- 32:18[SPEAKER_00]: I'm done.
- 32:18[SPEAKER_00]: Well, I lit like a harvest candle yesterday when you, I've been lighting at the last couple of days.
- 32:23[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, it's so nice.
- 32:24[SPEAKER_00]: So good.
- 32:25[SPEAKER_01]: And I was just like, oh, I'm so ready for this.
- 32:27[SPEAKER_00]: But trying to see for summer as well.
- 32:29[SPEAKER_00]: Like today, my little outfit is very like fall key summer.
- 32:33[SPEAKER_00]: Thank you.
- 32:33[SPEAKER_01]: So, because it's a manthus summer, it is a manthus summer.
- 32:37[SPEAKER_01]: I did so.
- 32:37[SPEAKER_00]: Thank you.
- 32:42[SPEAKER_00]: from Newly, of course.
- 32:43[SPEAKER_01]: My sweaters from Newly, your sweaters from Newly, my little sailor sweater.
- 32:47[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I love your sailor sweater.
- 32:49[SPEAKER_00]: It's cute, but I know right now as we're recording this.
- 32:51[SPEAKER_00]: It's still a bit warm outside.
- 32:53[SPEAKER_01]: It's still a bit warm, but like, I was sweating outside in those earlier, but when I said, I don't care.
- 32:58[SPEAKER_01]: I just wanted to embrace it, yeah, especially because like being Connecticut actually has been very mild weather.
- 33:04[SPEAKER_00]: It has felt a little wintry, yeah, at least for this just so funny because I'm like, it's very more I said like it's going to be really hot today and then I was like for a Florida girl I don't know.
- 33:13[SPEAKER_00]: It's sweater weather girl.
- 33:15[SPEAKER_00]: It is sweater weather and so it's kind of perfect because we compliment each other really well with the browns.
- 33:19[SPEAKER_01]: I think I'm leaning into like the browns the warm.
- 33:22[SPEAKER_01]: So beautiful brown looks great with the cream.
- 33:24[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, in cream pants and I'm a cream shoes and I'm a cream purse and it just felt like it was really easy for me to transition my wardrobe into like end of summer beginning of fall before the leaves turn before it's like too crispy outside is what's perfect about new I know because like
- 33:42[SPEAKER_01]: whatever fall you're having, you can change your mind at any given moment.
- 33:45[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, because like right now, of course, like I bought like brown tank top dresses because it's going to be a little warm this weekend.
- 33:51[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, but I wanted to do like a brown king and bow, but like this we're inside today.
- 33:55[SPEAKER_01]: So I wanted to feel fall.
- 33:56[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, but also you have a little plaid, but in two weeks, you're going to need something a little bridal.
- 34:01[SPEAKER_01]: So like you can fill your order with like,
- 34:04[SPEAKER_00]: bridal fall a little mix of all a little mix of all a little mix of all and then send about for your next month I know something entirely new it's great because if you guys are unfamiliar with newly we've been we've been talking about them for years because we've been newly girls I think the first time we did it together was in 2023 for our we came here to Connecticut and so we've been we've been on the newly trained for a very long time and I
- 34:27[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not hopping off.
- 34:28[SPEAKER_00]: It's just kind of perfect.
- 34:28[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, I've turned so many other people in my life on doing it.
- 34:31[SPEAKER_00]: Scarlett is doing it and he does it and he does it.
- 34:33[SPEAKER_00]: It's just like my friend Betsy does it.
- 34:36[SPEAKER_00]: It's like, oh, what's in your newly we do a little bit all the time.
- 34:38[SPEAKER_01]: We do a little newly haul.
- 34:39[SPEAKER_00]: We send each other back to the relate to you like this.
- 34:43[SPEAKER_00]: But you get six items for the entire month for 98 dollars.
- 34:47[SPEAKER_00]: And then what I love about it is that you can kind of like once you've worn through everything you can unlock it early and you can refill whenever you want to.
- 34:57[SPEAKER_00]: Or you can keep those items the following month if that's what you want.
- 35:00[SPEAKER_00]: Or you can just like stick to it and rotate every 30 days.
- 35:02[SPEAKER_00]: But I feel like six items is perfect because it's like it's just enough.
- 35:07[SPEAKER_01]: You know what I mean?
- 35:08[SPEAKER_00]: It's not rotating.
- 35:10[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 35:10[SPEAKER_00]: Outfit repeater makes it up with the items that you have.
- 35:13[SPEAKER_00]: And I think I found this
- 35:14[SPEAKER_00]: three times I got it on what day Tuesday Tuesday.
- 35:17[SPEAKER_01]: I got it on Tuesday.
- 35:17[SPEAKER_00]: I wore it on Tuesday.
- 35:19[SPEAKER_00]: I wore it the day you came here on Wednesday and I'm wearing it today and I might wear it tomorrow.
- 35:23[SPEAKER_00]: All right, you aren't out there repeater.
- 35:25[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I'm losing my wire, but it feels like you can also use it as like
- 35:29[SPEAKER_01]: Like a stop gap in your wardrobe is like if you have a real good wardrobe of basics and you're like okay, but I want a Rachel Antonov sweater with a peanut collada on it with a little martini on it like you were on Kinsey's Yes, my whole outfit on Kinsey's pod was was the same.
- 35:45[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, you two this I actually
- 35:46[SPEAKER_01]: where the sweater you'll be.
- 35:48[SPEAKER_01]: You could do the same.
- 35:49[SPEAKER_01]: But I feel like that's what's so good is that like maybe you don't want to own a sweater with a beverage on it and it's beautiful but you want to wear it.
- 35:56[SPEAKER_01]: So you can rent it with your best jeans but what's also really good about it is like Mandy loves it because she discovered it postpartum.
- 36:03[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
- 36:03[SPEAKER_01]: As her body was changing a lot of my friends during pregnancy.
- 36:06[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 36:07[SPEAKER_01]: So she'll be like okay my body is very different this month than it was last month.
- 36:10[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not going to stress about it.
- 36:11[SPEAKER_01]: I'm just going to change my newly
- 36:15[SPEAKER_00]: doing newly.
- 36:16[SPEAKER_00]: And they also have matured performances.
- 36:17[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
- 36:18[SPEAKER_00]: So it's perfect, but it's very sizing inclusive on newly.
- 36:21[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
- 36:21[SPEAKER_01]: And I think that's what I love so much about it that it fits for everyone's sort of lifestyle, whatever you want.
- 36:26[SPEAKER_01]: If you want like basics to like you can always like find like a pair of jeans that you like and you can always do a rental failure and get them at a discounted price.
- 36:34[SPEAKER_01]: I love it.
- 36:40[SPEAKER_00]: I have so many clothes that I've bought from Newly because I love to them so much that you can buy them at a discounted rate and sometimes it's just like of course I'm getting these jeans for $20.
- 36:50[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, or like you're telling me I have to send back this hillhouse trust.
- 36:53[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, over my dead body over my
- 36:56[SPEAKER_01]: Like no, I like have to keep it and so like that's what happens is like I'm always gravitating towards Hillhouse because I love an app dress and then getting it into discounted price through newly I'm like okay, so of course I'm gonna keep the Hillhouse garden dress.
- 37:08[SPEAKER_01]: No, which just makes them their sense.
- 37:10[SPEAKER_00]: No, I totally agree and it's also been really helpful for like my bridal.
- 37:15[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, because like it'll be a whole wardrobe of why?
- 37:17[SPEAKER_01]: And what am I gonna do with them afterwards?
- 37:20[SPEAKER_00]: There are so many events because my bridal shower, I was going to say my bachelor at weekend is coming up and it's just like already rented for it.
- 37:27[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, exactly.
- 37:28[SPEAKER_00]: You're just so cute.
- 37:29[SPEAKER_00]: I'm so excited.
- 37:30[SPEAKER_00]: But it's like I need to.
- 37:32[SPEAKER_00]: I want to have like a few different options.
- 37:34[SPEAKER_00]: That's why six is the perfect number.
- 37:35[SPEAKER_00]: It really is because it's not to but it's like the
- 37:37[SPEAKER_00]: Goldilocks.
- 37:38[SPEAKER_01]: But if it's not, you can always add items, which is what I've just been saying.
- 37:42[SPEAKER_01]: Because this rental was like, for Kenzie's pod, this trip to Connecticut, my beach trip, going to see Kelly Bishop.
- 37:50[SPEAKER_01]: And then her batch weekend, and I was like, okay, so I need a couple of extra items, especially because like, I want to rent a full outfit for Kelly Bishop, which I'm so excited.
- 37:59[SPEAKER_01]: I guess at this point, you'll all have seen it.
- 38:01[SPEAKER_01]: and it's like a little Emily, get more jacket.
- 38:03[SPEAKER_01]: But I wanted to like match Kelly Bishop on the cover of her book.
- 38:07[SPEAKER_01]: And I felt like really great looking through new lead doing that.
- 38:11[SPEAKER_01]: Because I was like, I don't know if I'd wear this outfit again.
- 38:13[SPEAKER_01]: If I was buying it.
- 38:15[SPEAKER_01]: But I'm like, okay, now I can look through every single green top option.
- 38:18[SPEAKER_01]: Because that's what she's wearing on her cover, just filtered by green.
- 38:21[SPEAKER_00]: And I found the perfect outfit.
- 38:23[SPEAKER_00]: It's great because it allows you that space to do like a one and done or if you want to try something new like there are times when I'm like, I don't know if this is going to look good on me and I don't know if I want to commit to it.
- 38:31[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and I can kind of like test it out.
- 38:33[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and sometimes, honestly, it doesn't.
- 38:35[SPEAKER_01]: No, like what if you lost like literally nothing like you don't have to return anything.
- 38:39[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and like when you do return your newly, which you ultimately do have to turn it, but I'm just mean like to the store.
- 38:44[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 38:45[SPEAKER_01]: You don't have to like trial and error, but like maybe you're like, oh, I like this way this fits.
- 38:48[SPEAKER_01]: But next month, I'm going to get a different size total.
- 38:50[SPEAKER_01]: Which is perfect.
- 38:52[SPEAKER_01]: You just return it.
- 38:53[SPEAKER_01]: You don't have to wash it.
- 38:54[SPEAKER_01]: You don't have to repair anything.
- 38:55[SPEAKER_01]: You don't have to do it.
- 38:56[SPEAKER_01]: anything to it but stick it back and it's a little fabric box zip it up, send it back.
- 39:01[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and we've also found a lot of pieces on there that are so like small towngirl.
- 39:06[SPEAKER_00]: So small town code.
- 39:07[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, if you go to our episode from the last year, I think we did like a whole outfit breakdown breakdown.
- 39:14[SPEAKER_00]: Breakdown.
- 39:15[SPEAKER_00]: I loved it.
- 39:15[SPEAKER_00]: It was so much fun because
- 39:17[SPEAKER_01]: You can really mix and match there and find some really great things also because when we weren't in Arbor last year We wore this like yellow and Harvard sweatshirt.
- 39:25[SPEAKER_01]: Oh my god.
- 39:26[SPEAKER_01]: We were so fun And it was so fun and like I'm kind of sad that like not I'm not sad, but like that the theme doesn't really match Those times because I was like I loved matching in those last year We wore those for trivia which was so cool because it was like Harvard versus Yale It was really good even though we weren't playing and we weren't playing together.
- 39:42[SPEAKER_00]: We just looked
- 39:43[SPEAKER_01]: really cute and like why would I own a Yale sweatshirt or Harvard sweatshirt?
- 39:47[SPEAKER_01]: You can just rent it but like whatever school you know they have a lot of options across the country to rent for your university so if you're in college and you want something cute you want to commit to it yeah I can try that and if you guys want to try newly we have a code so if the code free all yes if you go to newly.com use the code GTS to check out and you'll get 28 dollars off
- 40:10[SPEAKER_00]: your first month of newly, which I think is a steel $70 for your first month.
- 40:14[SPEAKER_01]: Oh my god, amazing.
- 40:15[SPEAKER_01]: That's like a little over $10 piece.
- 40:16[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
- 40:17[SPEAKER_01]: That's amazing.
- 40:19[SPEAKER_00]: Perfect.
- 40:19[SPEAKER_00]: So go to newly.com slash GTS and or you can just go to newly.com and make sure you use the code GTS in checkout.
- 40:26[SPEAKER_00]: because some of my friends have made that mistake.
- 40:28[SPEAKER_00]: They're really cute at a code.
- 40:29[SPEAKER_00]: I'm like, you guys.
- 40:29[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, that's what what do you what do you think it'd be here to do?
- 40:32[SPEAKER_01]: I was fighting the good message.
- 40:34[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, exactly.
- 40:35[SPEAKER_01]: That was pretty good word.
- 40:36[SPEAKER_01]: Please tag us on what you got.
- 40:37[SPEAKER_01]: I want to see.
- 40:38[SPEAKER_01]: Please love to see what people guys.
- 40:39[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe I want to rent it next.
- 40:41[SPEAKER_01]: I know it's true.
- 40:41[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, I know I mentioned what we're eating.
- 40:43[SPEAKER_00]: We're going to talk about that at the end a little bit.
- 40:45[SPEAKER_00]: Let's move into the analog of it all.
- 40:48[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 40:48[SPEAKER_01]: Analog autumn.
- 40:49[SPEAKER_01]: We were going to call it no cell phone fall, but we were like no cell phone summer just fits so well.
- 40:53[SPEAKER_01]: What would we call it?
- 40:54[SPEAKER_01]: What's the other word for fall?
- 40:56[SPEAKER_00]: Autumn.
- 40:57[SPEAKER_00]: Analog autumn.
- 40:59[SPEAKER_00]: So just to kind of define what going analog is because we talked about it a little bit at the beginning of this episode.
- 41:05[SPEAKER_00]: But it says going analog means intentionally stepping away from digital screens and constant online connectivity to embrace physical hands on and real world experiences.
- 41:14[SPEAKER_00]: which I feel is so Gilmourkel's code it.
- 41:17[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, it's like that's why it feels like a period piece now is because so much of like the drama within the episode happens because some people can't get in touch with each other.
- 41:27[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, like you're telling me if Roy called Dean or texted Dean and they both had iPhones would just have been standing there in Adukwalk at the Oasis soaking wet.
- 41:37[SPEAKER_00]: Oh my god, you're so right.
- 41:39[SPEAKER_00]: And would we have been treated in that way?
- 41:40[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, they had a behavior.
- 41:43[SPEAKER_01]: And so had to get the page, but like, he doesn't know where she's at.
- 41:46[SPEAKER_01]: Oh my god, Dean would have abused find my friend.
- 41:50[SPEAKER_01]: He would have somehow ended up with Jess on find his friends.
- 41:53[SPEAKER_01]: And they would have been overlapping.
- 41:54[SPEAKER_01]: No, 100%.
- 41:55[SPEAKER_01]: He would have found all his friends.
- 41:56[SPEAKER_01]: He totally, totally would have abused find my friend.
- 42:00[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, I do that too.
- 42:02[SPEAKER_00]: I asked you, I was like, share your location with me.
- 42:04[SPEAKER_00]: I want to follow you.
- 42:04[SPEAKER_01]: No, that was like Mandy was like, why are you in Connecticut?
- 42:06[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, why are you in Connecticut?
- 42:07[SPEAKER_01]: You said me a detailed itinerary of where you are, but that's fine.
- 42:11[SPEAKER_01]: That's not Dean.
- 42:11[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, she's not my Dean promise.
- 42:13[SPEAKER_00]: No, promise machine.
- 42:15[SPEAKER_00]: Seriously.
- 42:16[SPEAKER_01]: But I feel like that's like putting those pieces of technology into get more roles.
- 42:20[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 42:20[SPEAKER_01]: Like that's more of like for the plot that that is happening.
- 42:24[SPEAKER_01]: But as we do, we're going to talk about it more like realistically of how the Gilmores would interact with the technologies that we have now and how the use of not having it can like almost like a switch of like we would put the phones into Gilmores in these moments of like them scrolling so in our lives when we're scrolling let's do what we're doing in those moments so we can do like a little like
- 42:52[SPEAKER_01]: Body swap.
- 42:53[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think I'm a gross.
- 42:54[SPEAKER_00]: Wow.
- 42:55[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 42:55[SPEAKER_00]: I love I truly say less I don't know if it's a term of one choose like a can't believe you won't switch bodies with me.
- 43:01[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, of course Yeah, what is that from?
- 43:03[SPEAKER_00]: It's I don't remember which episode it is, but she's got to do something Laura likes to do something she doesn't want to do like let's say I want to be you at the exact same time.
- 43:11[SPEAKER_00]: No, okay?
- 43:12[SPEAKER_00]: I can't believe all such bodies with me, but I don't know if we talked about this on Kenzie's episode because I know we talked about like community building and a lot about like kind of the art of going analog because her whole brand Which I feel like it's an art right now.
- 43:25[SPEAKER_01]: It's an art form to go.
- 43:27[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, yes.
- 43:27[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I was like an art.
- 43:29[SPEAKER_00]: Who's art?
- 43:31[SPEAKER_00]: What?
- 43:31[SPEAKER_00]: Here are my art, but I do think that's why people did not feel like Gilmore girls a year in the life felt like Gilmore girls was because of the technology, like the technological aspect to it was integrated into the show.
- 43:46[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, you know, it didn't hit until recently because obviously it was 2016, it was 10 years ago and things have changed so much since then.
- 43:53[SPEAKER_00]: But like, you know, everybody on their computers, we're having three cell phones, you know, like stuff like that.
- 43:58[SPEAKER_01]: And until she's like throws them away.
- 44:00[SPEAKER_01]: And she's like, yeah.
- 44:02[SPEAKER_01]: Let's get back to Star's Hollow and I like that aspect of it because like for we wouldn't have three phones But like her move to be like I'm fucking done with this.
- 44:09[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I'm going back home Yeah, she like those are phones away and I'm like, okay, okay, and half away.
- 44:14[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, exactly.
- 44:15[SPEAKER_00]: I love it Yeah, but yeah, you brought to my attention that like there are several times that the Gilmore girls like could have been scrolling If you think about their lives and like how detailed every episode was when it came to what they were doing and how they were spending their time
- 44:30[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, there's so many times that like in today's world, they would have been scrolling on their phones and I Love thinking about the fact that it's like they weren't doing that they were at Luke's they were at Luke's they were chatting They were like people were coming up to them and I told you that when I was on the airplane or like honestly We'll get into like more of like our hobbies, but like I've been needle pointing this my Kelly Bishop campus of course If you're living under a rock, you haven't seen the camera
- 44:53[SPEAKER_01]: My so my pet enjoy, but it is such like a friend maker because I'm not on my phone People are like, what is this?
- 45:00[SPEAKER_01]: What are you doing?
- 45:00[SPEAKER_01]: Tell me more about it And I feel like that's like what's cutting you off and hey, sometimes I want to be cut off I got to do not want sometimes I do not want to be talking to the people around me But other times I feel like someone is quite standoffish like the woman on the plane.
- 45:14[SPEAKER_01]: I was like, oh, okay Because I offered her a like a Purl wipe to wipe down her space and she like very much rejected it and I was like, oh, okay
- 45:22[SPEAKER_01]: But then she was so nice and just wanted to talk to me and we had such a nice nice little time on the flight But I feel like that is what like the Gilmore is like to be fair or like be scrolling on her phone narrating to you what she was looking at Yeah, that's just so her but like maybe they're at Luke's and everyone's like scrolling on their phone.
- 45:38[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe they're at Thurker's Ebo
- 45:40[SPEAKER_01]: Scrolling on the phone, maybe Lorelei or like I could see me shall standing at the front desk not helping like the patrons scrolling on his phone.
- 45:49[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, there's just so many instances of moments where we could insert a phone into this like kind of quiet scene that maybe Worry is scrolling on her phone and not listening to Lorelei she's talking.
- 46:02[SPEAKER_01]: everyone's very present and of course it's for the plot.
- 46:05[SPEAKER_01]: Like I mean of course we didn't have that at the time but I don't think people are scrolling on their phones in modern shows but I mean that that's what I meant by like less of like talking about it as like a show that's been written and more of like a life that they're living because like of course people aren't scrolling on their phones necessarily in media unless it's a plot point but it's reflective of our lives.
- 46:26[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah that's so true.
- 46:27[SPEAKER_01]: To like
- 46:28[SPEAKER_01]: Put it there, find out what are they doing when they would be scrolling their phones and how do we bring that into our lives?
- 46:35[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, because I don't think that you need to disconnect from your phone.
- 46:38[SPEAKER_01]: I just think using it intentionally.
- 46:40[SPEAKER_01]: Mm-hmm.
- 46:40[SPEAKER_01]: Like, not just doom scrolling.
- 46:42[SPEAKER_01]: Like, that's not, that's not helping anything.
- 46:44[SPEAKER_00]: No, it's not.
- 46:46[SPEAKER_01]: It's really not, and that's really what it is.
- 46:47[SPEAKER_01]: It's like creating a good relationship with that so that you can have like more, more hobbies and just communicate with the world around you and see, look up and see the world.
- 46:59[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 46:59[SPEAKER_01]: But also there's so much to be had on social media.
- 47:02[SPEAKER_01]: Like I met you on social media.
- 47:04[SPEAKER_01]: Of course.
- 47:04[SPEAKER_01]: And social media, Courtney who we're talking to on Thursday, my other on socials, I met all of you on socials.
- 47:10[SPEAKER_01]: So I think that there's like goodness to be had in moderation.
- 47:13[SPEAKER_00]: Absolutely, and I think that it also kind of not to get like two scientific about it because we're no experts, but like it also comes down to like the dopamine hits that you get.
- 47:21[SPEAKER_00]: And it's like find your dopamine and your joy elsewhere.
- 47:25[SPEAKER_00]: And I do think that that is the life that Amy Sherman Paladino built for Laura Lambray unintentionally, because who knew what the future was going to bring.
- 47:34[SPEAKER_00]: Not that.
- 47:35[SPEAKER_00]: not them, not us.
- 47:37[SPEAKER_00]: But now that we can kind of look in hindsight to 2020, I do think that creating those hands-on experiences for yourself.
- 47:44[SPEAKER_00]: I do think that's a huge reason why people love watching Gilmore Girls is because not only does it feel nostalgic for your soul, like, oh, I watched the show when I was growing up or I watched it on ABC Family when I would come home for
- 47:56[SPEAKER_00]: from school, you know, it takes you back to that place, but you are also so capable of living out kind of the life that feels so aesthetically pleasing and so aspirational that exists on the show.
- 48:09[SPEAKER_00]: That makes it feel like a warm hug.
- 48:11[SPEAKER_00]: when you enter into their world.
- 48:12[SPEAKER_01]: Sometimes I don't even think people realize that's what they're loving about it.
- 48:15[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, like there's no phones, they're just a walkable town.
- 48:19[SPEAKER_01]: If we could just offer you all a walk-out town, like, wouldn't that just... We'll get on it.
- 48:24[SPEAKER_01]: We'll get on building it.
- 48:25[SPEAKER_01]: We'll start walking.
- 48:26[SPEAKER_01]: We'll start walking that idea around for you.
- 48:28[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 48:28[SPEAKER_01]: But I feel like that is what it is.
- 48:29[SPEAKER_01]: It's just like people don't realize the parts of it that, like, if they had that in their own life, that they would feel that same comfort.
- 48:36[SPEAKER_01]: Mm-hmm.
- 48:36[SPEAKER_01]: So that's what we're going to try and help build for you today.
- 48:38[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, is an analog autumn.
- 48:40[SPEAKER_01]: I know something that's quite trendy this year but like in years past as well I've seen it like surge more recently.
- 48:46[SPEAKER_01]: Is an analog bag.
- 48:47[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, yeah, which I've made one for myself.
- 48:49[SPEAKER_01]: I know that my Dilly dolly bag.
- 48:51[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, because I feel like that's what it is.
- 48:52[SPEAKER_00]: It's like you're just like that's what's scrolling on your phone is your Dilly Dilly dollying around social media.
- 48:58[SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, maybe avoiding your responsibilities a little bit
- 49:01[SPEAKER_01]: So with my dilly dolly bag, it's like almost like my toolbox of what to do when I would be mindlessly scrolling.
- 49:08[SPEAKER_00]: What's in your dilly dolly bag right now?
- 49:10[SPEAKER_01]: My dilly actually nothing because I unloaded it before I left.
- 49:15[SPEAKER_01]: Literally at this moment to tell me what actually nothing in it.
- 49:18[SPEAKER_01]: But what normally would go in it.
- 49:20[SPEAKER_01]: And I actually carried around the house.
- 49:22[SPEAKER_01]: It's like like I'm commuting from room to room because
- 49:25[SPEAKER_01]: Or like even when I leave that like it I take it with me quite literally every That also just feels like a like summing like carrying around her purse Just run to room like just hello.
- 49:33[SPEAKER_01]: Hello.
- 49:34[SPEAKER_01]: I'm in a new room No, I have to tell you though because my my younger sister she bought so many beaded baths bags of summer And there was like no way she could use them all this summer that we were having 4th of July at her house And I was like just bring a bag downstairs and she just she walked around the 4th of July with a bag because she wanted everyone to see it See it just see it just look at it and I actually
- 49:54[SPEAKER_01]: I got it from Lens and actually, and I had Dilly Dally.
- 49:57[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, I wanted to embroider it because we're having a little sale on it.
- 50:02[SPEAKER_00]: I was like, okay, let's just commit to that.
- 50:04[SPEAKER_00]: I'm due for a new bag because I didn't get embroidery done.
- 50:08[SPEAKER_00]: I think mine's from LL Bean and I got a couple of years ago.
- 50:12[SPEAKER_01]: Kind of structure, because LL Bean is very structure.
- 50:14[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, and Lens and is a little more.
- 50:16[SPEAKER_01]: Flexible.
- 50:17[SPEAKER_01]: Mine has become more soft.
- 50:18[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, they do they get yes, and mine is a couple years old now, but it is so dirty.
- 50:25[SPEAKER_00]: It's dirty.
- 50:26[SPEAKER_00]: I end to be fair.
- 50:26[SPEAKER_00]: I live in New York I don't you take everywhere.
- 50:28[SPEAKER_01]: It's like canvas cream.
- 50:30[SPEAKER_01]: Exactly.
- 50:31[SPEAKER_00]: What am I going to do?
- 50:32[SPEAKER_00]: So I am due for another one.
- 50:33[SPEAKER_00]: And I think that I would like this here for it to become my analog bag.
- 50:37[SPEAKER_00]: Yes
- 50:37[SPEAKER_00]: because I think it's really important to carry those things with you because half the time people pull out their phones out of habit but also because they're bored and there's nothing else around.
- 50:46[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, give yourself some of it too.
- 50:48[SPEAKER_01]: And that was what was nice because no soft on summer.
- 50:50[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, what, like the birthplace of the dilly dolly bag was.
- 50:54[SPEAKER_01]: And so I put in it, of course, my Kindle, but like also if I was like reading a physical book at the time because like,
- 51:01[SPEAKER_01]: Still read your candle.
- 51:02[SPEAKER_01]: We're not like telling you to throw out your technology by Oh, yeah, I actually love living in the digital age for the honest.
- 51:08[SPEAKER_01]: So like I have my candle or my book I have my journal.
- 51:10[SPEAKER_01]: I have my recipe journal Even keep my watercolors supplies in there because it's quite compact.
- 51:15[SPEAKER_01]: So if I come out and about and there's a table and a cup of water Not in my little watercolour, but also of course my needle points in there at my embroidery all my hobbies I always have like some sort of bev in there just something to like always be doing
- 51:28[SPEAKER_01]: always have something that if I'm waiting someplace, I can pull it out or I can just stand there.
- 51:34[SPEAKER_01]: I have my observation notebook where it's just full of literally just things I see around to help like inspire my writing or like things like my little idea journal so that like if I have an idea for the podcast why I'm out pretty
- 51:46[SPEAKER_01]: I thought, pretty thought, I need a pretty thought journal.
- 51:50[SPEAKER_01]: I need that's something I definitely need in my life.
- 51:52[SPEAKER_01]: But I just kind of fill it up with whatever, or I put my camera in there as well, because I like to capture, I mean, that's so nice of your phone, everything's there.
- 52:00[SPEAKER_01]: But I also want to start, I have a walk-in with cassette tapes.
- 52:06[SPEAKER_01]: So I want to add that in there, because I love it.
- 52:09[SPEAKER_01]: I've been buying cassettes.
- 52:11[SPEAKER_01]: So I have a couple of tales of albums on cassettes.
- 52:14[SPEAKER_01]: And I just like, it's just like the quilt, it's pink, it's so cute.
- 52:19[SPEAKER_01]: And I just love, it's kind of heavy to like walk around with, but it's perfect to have in my bag.
- 52:23[SPEAKER_01]: I just think it's just a different sort of something to do.
- 52:27[SPEAKER_01]: You know, like a disconnect from your phone, and whenever I have my phone, I always put it at the bottom of the bag, so I have to dig for it, and I'm not just reaching into my bag.
- 52:36[SPEAKER_01]: I have to cross treacherous paths and my hand might touch something else that I like instead.
- 52:40[SPEAKER_00]: You have a lot of things in your Delhi to have a bag.
- 52:43[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's at me bag that bag.
- 52:44[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 52:45[SPEAKER_01]: But I think that what we want to do is like how you can build an analog bag that feels very gummer rolls inspired.
- 52:52[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, because I think that the things in my bag do like warrant a connection to gummer rolls in some way.
- 52:58[SPEAKER_01]: We could find a way to connect gummer rolls to anything.
- 53:00[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 53:00[SPEAKER_01]: But I feel like we can build due one and like we can definitely connect the things that I have in my bag.
- 53:05[SPEAKER_01]: Or maybe things I want to add to my bag based on things in gummer rolls, totally.
- 53:09[SPEAKER_00]: And I have like three things already that come with me in my bag anyway, like because I will carry a tote like my ritual in the morning is to usually go to blue bottle.
- 53:20[SPEAKER_00]: I sit outside.
- 53:21[SPEAKER_00]: I get my little matcha and I have three things with me.
- 53:25[SPEAKER_00]: One of them is is not technically analog.
- 53:28[SPEAKER_00]: It's my laptop, but it's because I'm writing Robcom, everybody knows that, but I bought this notebook at the beginning of this calendar year I think I didn't always hear that to book.
- 53:37[SPEAKER_01]: I was like, oh, terrace reading a book called a more I keep I thought of the self-help book No, no, no, no, no, I have thought Literally until today when you pulled out that notebook
- 53:47[SPEAKER_01]: I was like, no, it's a 300 page notebook, and I think I got this at Anthropology.
- 53:53[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, literally for the past every time I've seen, when we were in LA, I was like, oh my god, Tara is reading a self-help book called Amor.
- 54:00[SPEAKER_01]: I kept me in to ask you about it.
- 54:02[SPEAKER_00]: It's just like, no, no.
- 54:03[SPEAKER_01]: We brought it to bed, and I was like, oh, she picked it up.
- 54:07[SPEAKER_01]: And I kept forgetting, like, I just like would escape me.
- 54:09[SPEAKER_01]: And every time I see it, I'm like, oh my gosh, need to ask about that book.
- 54:11[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, no, it's a notebook and then she pulled it out today and started writing it.
- 54:15[SPEAKER_01]: I was like, that's a notebook.
- 54:17[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, like, truly, it's already falling apart.
- 54:19[SPEAKER_00]: But I love it.
- 54:20[SPEAKER_00]: I love writing.
- 54:21[SPEAKER_01]: I, I'm someone who, like, loves to write things.
- 54:23[SPEAKER_01]: Me too.
- 54:24[SPEAKER_00]: I like writing down and I used to be a daily planner girl and I'm no longer because I just found that, like, I would be really into it and then I forget about it for a while and then I'd be really into it again.
- 54:34[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 54:34[SPEAKER_00]: And I was just like, I honestly, when we started the podcast is really kind of when I fell off because all of our talk about going analog.
- 54:41[SPEAKER_00]: All of our things are in our Google calendar and it is just so much better for me to look at that than to write it down But I am still yeah, of course.
- 54:51[SPEAKER_01]: I like transcribe it every week.
- 54:52[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, but like I got this specifically that says a more
- 54:56[SPEAKER_01]: or more on it, depending on some more.
- 54:59[SPEAKER_00]: That's some more, because my intention this year was to write my first rom-com, a lot of my ideas for the rom-com are sitting in this book.
- 55:08[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, do you use one notebook?
- 55:09[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, everything goes in their pod idea.
- 55:11[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, but I try to limit other things besides rom.
- 55:15[SPEAKER_00]: Like if it's not involving rom-com or like hopes and dreams, it's usually not in this notebook, but there is pod stuff in here because like, it kind of crosses the border into hopes and dreams.
- 55:26[SPEAKER_01]: Everything is just like a totally I wake up every day with a different dream.
- 55:30[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, exactly But that's so interesting because I have a different journal for everything.
- 55:35[SPEAKER_00]: I understand that was kind of the intention of this was like it Passed to be and I have to carry like six journals with me.
- 55:40[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, like okay Why I need this journal?
- 55:42[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not gonna bring this journal because I already have too many journals in my bag Yeah, I'm up at the another thought.
- 55:46[SPEAKER_01]: I'll just write it down on my phone and transcribe it later Totally because I'm just like girl You literally have 12 journals.
- 55:53[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, right now.
- 55:54[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, I'm feeling
- 55:55[SPEAKER_00]: It is really nice to have one because like as you can see, I've like story boarded like, though, the Ron, I love a post-it note.
- 56:04[SPEAKER_00]: I love a post-it note index card.
- 56:06[SPEAKER_00]: But if I have a thought, there's also things about the wedding in here, so like, you know,
- 56:10[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know some bulbs love.
- 56:11[SPEAKER_01]: Do you think this is like in terms of analog?
- 56:13[SPEAKER_01]: Do we call this like the Paris Gallaire pretty thoughts journal?
- 56:16[SPEAKER_01]: I would.
- 56:17[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I mean it's also kind of very Gilmore because I like to write down things that I observe in here.
- 56:21[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 56:22[SPEAKER_00]: Um, like observations especially for Minnesota 10.
- 56:26[SPEAKER_01]: And so, but there are times like you just see something in your like I see that.
- 56:30[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's my novel.
- 56:31[SPEAKER_01]: The novelization of this moment.
- 56:33[SPEAKER_00]: Exactly.
- 56:34[SPEAKER_00]: But there are also times when I have my laptop with me because I need to write them in dialogue form.
- 56:40[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
- 56:40[SPEAKER_00]: I have an idea and I'm like, I need to type it out.
- 56:42[SPEAKER_01]: I can't handwrite it.
- 56:43[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
- 56:44[SPEAKER_01]: Exactly.
- 56:44[SPEAKER_01]: And my mind is coming up with it.
- 56:46[SPEAKER_00]: So I almost always have the laptop and the embroidery.
- 56:50[SPEAKER_00]: notebook with me.
- 56:51[SPEAKER_00]: But I love to carry around like a little book of crossword puzzles or Sudoku.
- 56:55[SPEAKER_01]: Well, that's the other thing.
- 56:56[SPEAKER_01]: I love a like the physical Sudoku.
- 56:59[SPEAKER_00]: I got one for these six dollars from Rhonda Noble.
- 57:01[SPEAKER_00]: It's the best love.
- 57:02[SPEAKER_00]: I love it so much.
- 57:03[SPEAKER_00]: And so like I love to have and you know, I'm a crossword puzzle girl.
- 57:06[SPEAKER_00]: Of course, so I love to have like a physical crossword puzzle, but I will also, I love the New York Times game.
- 57:11[SPEAKER_00]: So I will do them all.
- 57:12[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, yes, of course.
- 57:14[SPEAKER_01]: But I actually, I will say in like the analog, not analog, but kind of like, I guess, anti-socials, like to kind of use your phone more intentionally.
- 57:22[SPEAKER_01]: I have a page on my phone that is more like analog apps.
- 57:26[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, it's like my audio books.
- 57:27[SPEAKER_01]: It's my Kindle and it's the New York Times.
- 57:30[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, and so I have a page that I go to to like avoid my other pages and so I'm just here.
- 57:35[SPEAKER_01]: and then New York Times games is on there.
- 57:37[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, love it.
- 57:38[SPEAKER_01]: I love it.
- 57:38[SPEAKER_01]: I got to do where it all got to do connection.
- 57:40[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 57:41[SPEAKER_00]: My headphones.
- 57:42[SPEAKER_00]: I also use corded headphones.
- 57:43[SPEAKER_00]: I know that's not analog at all.
- 57:45[SPEAKER_00]: That's just fine.
- 57:45[SPEAKER_00]: I do, though.
- 57:46[SPEAKER_00]: Well, but I have always been a corded headphones girl.
- 57:48[SPEAKER_00]: I had ear pods for a while, but the Bluetooth of it all kind of like messes with my ears a little bit.
- 57:53[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know why, like, it just feels real.
- 57:55[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.
- 57:56[SPEAKER_00]: I just found especially with like once it go over my ears.
- 58:00[SPEAKER_00]: And so I was just like I like a kind of like early to like a mid 2000s like I'm listening to my iPod commercial.
- 58:07[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 58:07[SPEAKER_00]: It's like so trendy.
- 58:08[SPEAKER_00]: That's like so Pinterest of you.
- 58:09[SPEAKER_00]: I know.
- 58:10[SPEAKER_00]: But and I think a lot of people are starting to get back into the iPod.
- 58:14[SPEAKER_00]: I love that.
- 58:14[SPEAKER_00]: See like that's like I just skipped straight back and went to the Walkman.
- 58:17[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 58:18[SPEAKER_00]: I love that you're doing the walk in.
- 58:20[SPEAKER_00]: I loved, loved, loved my walk in.
- 58:23[SPEAKER_00]: When my mom got it for me, I will never forget this.
- 58:25[SPEAKER_00]: I think it was a CD one or yes.
- 58:27[SPEAKER_01]: Well, we had a cassette one.
- 58:28[SPEAKER_01]: That was like, that was passed down to me.
- 58:30[SPEAKER_01]: But my mom bought me a CD one in, like, three or two thousand.
- 58:34[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
- 58:34[SPEAKER_00]: I think the year 2000 and yeah, sending a lunch.
- 58:38[SPEAKER_00]: And I remember she caught me the Shrek soundtrack because I loved it because it's it's iconic smash mouth or you kidding me?
- 58:47[SPEAKER_01]: I watch Shrek recently and to see if I could introduce it to some E and Leo, but they say stupid too many times in it.
- 58:53[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, I'm not over sorry.
- 58:55[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that's true.
- 58:55[SPEAKER_01]: That's true.
- 58:56[SPEAKER_00]: But I used to listen to it over and over and over again.
- 58:59[SPEAKER_00]: I loved that soundtrack so bad.
- 59:01[SPEAKER_00]: And she also got me now.
- 59:02[SPEAKER_00]: That's what I, that's what I call music.
- 59:04[SPEAKER_00]: I think it was volume eight at the time.
- 59:06[SPEAKER_01]: Ooh.
- 59:07[SPEAKER_01]: You should read into the blue.
- 59:08[SPEAKER_01]: They listened and now that's what I call music volume four.
- 59:10[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, fine.
- 59:11[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe it wasn't him.
- 59:12[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe it was earlier than that.
- 59:13[SPEAKER_00]: because it was still pretty new.
- 59:15[SPEAKER_00]: It was, it should've got me a now.
- 59:17[SPEAKER_00]: And I got that all for Christmas.
- 59:18[SPEAKER_00]: And I remember listening to it on my Walkman.
- 59:20[SPEAKER_00]: I was like, in my bed, in my bedroom.
- 59:22[SPEAKER_00]: What a great choice.
- 59:23[SPEAKER_01]: Like, one of the best parts of Christmas is like playing with your presence.
- 59:26[SPEAKER_01]: And so like having something like that where you're just like, I am in heaven.
- 59:30[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it was really nice.
- 59:31[SPEAKER_01]: It was so much fun.
- 59:32[SPEAKER_01]: Like that's what I like about having that in my bag.
- 59:33[SPEAKER_01]: It's like, I can only listen to one album because it's whatever one I put in here because I don't put multiple in there.
- 59:38[SPEAKER_01]: Except the, like the case to break in my bag.
- 59:42[SPEAKER_00]: My god, I should go through my cassette tapes.
- 59:44[SPEAKER_01]: I still have so many DVDs and so many CDs.
- 59:47[SPEAKER_01]: They're everywhere.
- 59:47[SPEAKER_01]: It's not even anything like vintage.
- 59:49[SPEAKER_01]: It's literally midnight, I don't know.
- 59:50[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, hilarious.
- 59:51[SPEAKER_00]: I still have like all of the, all of the ones that I used to have, which is very fun.
- 59:55[SPEAKER_00]: And like such a cool thing to re-experience and revisit.
- 59:58[SPEAKER_00]: But I also love that she released it on cassette.
- 1:00:01[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, she releases all of her albums on cassette now.
- 1:00:03[SPEAKER_01]: And I get them.
- 1:00:04[SPEAKER_01]: I love that.
- 1:00:05[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:00:05[SPEAKER_01]: That's really, really fun.
- 1:00:06[SPEAKER_00]: But I also I carry my headphones around with me because I really like to put on white noise when I'm like, I just need to shut the world out sometimes again this is not really analog but it's just it's more over that I like to be in my own thoughts and these are like the necessities and I do feel like Roy Gilmore is one of those people where like I think about her sitting on the gazebo right before Dean's wedding I think about we're sitting at lunch in like mother like daughter and she's reading Walkman
- 1:00:33[SPEAKER_00]: club.
- 1:00:33[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, exactly.
- 1:00:34[SPEAKER_00]: And just kind of being a little anti-social sometimes, like, I need that.
- 1:00:38[SPEAKER_00]: But when it comes to being kind of social and allowing, like, the noises of the world and the community of people around me to have access to me, I really want to get into needlepoint.
- 1:00:51[SPEAKER_00]: when you showed it to me last night because I've been like thinking about it also people do not mind I've shown you mine I've sent you like progress photos absolutely like seeing it happen it's just like I know that I will be into it maybe by the time this episode airs I will already have one because we're going to penniline in Connecticut tomorrow yes and so I know that we can find pop up yes it can be does the cutest canvas it she's she does the cutest everything
- 1:01:14[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, unbelievable.
- 1:01:15[SPEAKER_00]: I just adore her.
- 1:01:17[SPEAKER_00]: So we're going to go there and I'm going to get my first canvas and I'm really excited.
- 1:01:20[SPEAKER_00]: I'm so excited for you.
- 1:01:21[SPEAKER_01]: Also because like needle plate is so easy because like I'm trying to assign like each of these things to like a person because like I feel like walkman that is so.
- 1:01:30[SPEAKER_00]: We're in pain.
- 1:01:31[SPEAKER_00]: We're in lane.
- 1:01:32[SPEAKER_00]: That's so we're in the CD drop.
- 1:01:33[SPEAKER_00]: The CD drop.
- 1:01:35[SPEAKER_00]: Drop it in my analog.
- 1:01:36[SPEAKER_01]: Drop it in my analog bag.
- 1:01:38[SPEAKER_01]: If you will it's exactly what I was going to say that feels so
- 1:01:41[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I feel like journaling that feels like so Paris is pretty thought-sternal.
- 1:01:45[SPEAKER_01]: That feels so rory-making list.
- 1:01:47[SPEAKER_00]: She's such a list girl, but it also came to the margins.
- 1:01:50[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
- 1:01:51[SPEAKER_01]: Let's say you could feel a little jazz like I feel like that's so them.
- 1:01:54[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:01:55[SPEAKER_01]: But I feel like needle point could kind of fit into a lot of them.
- 1:02:00[SPEAKER_01]: Like immediately I'm thinking like Laura, like who likes to so that was the first thing that came to my mind.
- 1:02:05[SPEAKER_01]: I can see that, but also like I could totally see patty
- 1:02:11[SPEAKER_01]: I think that she's not eating something.
- 1:02:12[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, there is a, isn't it?
- 1:02:13[SPEAKER_00]: Or she's not eating something.
- 1:02:14[SPEAKER_00]: Is it the, the nether fong?
- 1:02:15[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe it could, okay, very well could be.
- 1:02:17[SPEAKER_01]: Is it a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's
- 1:02:26[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, or is it in season six when she's waiting at the church because you're so right she's been there all night Yeah, yeah, that feels like patty like patty and but that I do think with like promenital point and Gab yeah, or like I also think Mrs. Kim would appreciate you don't point
- 1:02:44[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, 100%.
- 1:02:44[SPEAKER_01]: You know, I feel like there's so many people that would like it, but I think that a lot of people look at a finished needle point project, whether it's a lower case of finish, which is when you finish stitching our capital of finish when it's turned into a product, that you're like that looks difficult, because
- 1:03:00[SPEAKER_01]: When I've been bringing my Kelly Bishop canvas around, it's been such a friendmaker because people like, oh my gosh, it looks so hard.
- 1:03:05[SPEAKER_01]: And at the nail salon the other day, I was giving it to tutorial to several people because I was like, this is easy because you're just stitching the intersections and once you do that, you're like, oh my gosh, I could actually need to point anything.
- 1:03:15[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
- 1:03:16[SPEAKER_01]: It just takes practice and it's so easy to do.
- 1:03:18[SPEAKER_01]: And it's such a fun hobby if you like to a listen to podcasts, which I imagine that's why you're here.
- 1:03:25[SPEAKER_01]: But if you like to listen to audio books or anything like that, like if you like to like hobby stack in any way, maybe you have some work that you need to do that's like listening to something.
- 1:03:34[SPEAKER_00]: Because for us, we have to listen to each other.
- 1:03:36[SPEAKER_01]: I know, I like to set that up to other people.
- 1:03:37[SPEAKER_01]: I know, I was like, because like for example, for example, when I review podcast episodes, I need a point, but like maybe that doesn't, I don't know.
- 1:03:44[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe because I guess a lot of people listen to things while they're working because they have to.
- 1:03:48[SPEAKER_01]: Do others type some more?
- 1:03:49[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, maybe you can't do with your hands, but great wine down activity.
- 1:03:52[SPEAKER_00]: It really is.
- 1:03:53[SPEAKER_01]: I honestly like to do it with no sound, with nothing, just needle pointing.
- 1:03:57[SPEAKER_01]: It's so nice.
- 1:03:58[SPEAKER_01]: We're also embroidery, like I feel like those kind of go hand-in-hand, very different hobbies, but very similar, very similar time.
- 1:04:04[SPEAKER_01]: time commitment to it.
- 1:04:05[SPEAKER_00]: I would totally, very similar movement with your hand.
- 1:04:08[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I need a point can be, of course, a very expensive entry point depending on how big your business is.
- 1:04:14[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
- 1:04:14[SPEAKER_01]: But they also, if you go into your local need a point store, your LNS, then they can probably help you find something small, or they're going to have a kit where you can like,
- 1:04:22[SPEAKER_01]: get the scissors, the needles, the thread, a little mini canvas for like a less expensive price just to start it just to see if you like it.
- 1:04:31[SPEAKER_01]: You can also make them yourself, which I'm starting to do now, which I'm I know I'm really I'm like I'm going to do that.
- 1:04:36[SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to do that.
- 1:04:36[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to do that.
- 1:04:37[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm I love it.
- 1:04:39[SPEAKER_00]: And like yeah, watching me do it.
- 1:04:40[SPEAKER_00]: Also, I was like you are going to dive for them.
- 1:04:42[SPEAKER_00]: I knew, as soon as I saw, I was like, oh, this is going to be so perfect for me, especially given the medium that I work in.
- 1:04:48[SPEAKER_00]: I'm already in like that stitch kind of, I mean, I'm not a great stitcher with a sewing machine, but I hand stitch and it is very therapeutic.
- 1:04:55[SPEAKER_00]: It's very good.
- 1:04:56[SPEAKER_00]: And so I know that like in my analog bag, I already kind of have like my writing tools and the things that I need to like keep myself focused and locked in for writing.
- 1:05:07[SPEAKER_01]: But I like the idea of having a needle point as well for like a train ride or a part of riding is thinking which sounds so dumb But it really is you know, it's just sit down and start riding with the ideas you have to have like the idea thinking zone Yeah, and to like I know that like ADHD girl is need like a little something to like busy that part of your brain And that's what needle point feels like so I sit there and think oh my thoughts while my brain is being baby sat while the thoughts are thinking and the thoughts can be thought
- 1:05:35[SPEAKER_00]: Totally and those are sometimes you need to just so now, which is I again I think why people tend to turn to their phones because to scroll just feel so easy So easy and I do too.
- 1:05:47[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, and so easy to and no, I know easy to bring that to you Yeah, I've brought it with me.
- 1:05:51[SPEAKER_00]: It's quite literally everywhere this week.
- 1:05:53[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and I'll just pop it out to a couple stitches Yeah back in my bag and
- 1:05:57[SPEAKER_01]: Because it takes a long time, but I love it, and I highly recommend getting into it, very fun hobby, very fun community to be a part of.
- 1:06:06[SPEAKER_01]: It's true.
- 1:06:06[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it is from what I've seen.
- 1:06:09[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, very fun.
- 1:06:09[SPEAKER_01]: But it just feels like more like, I feel like Laura, I would be need of pointing.
- 1:06:13[SPEAKER_01]: I'd also feel like Emily would have a need of pointing.
- 1:06:17[SPEAKER_01]: I was going to say that the same has a need of pointing.
- 1:06:19[SPEAKER_00]: Like what do you think is an Emily's analog bag?
- 1:06:21[SPEAKER_01]: First of all it's Chanel.
- 1:06:23[SPEAKER_01]: She has her little notebook.
- 1:06:25[SPEAKER_01]: She does her menu planning.
- 1:06:27[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, so she has her little notebook She does like to play bridge, but I don't know if she's bringing it with her.
- 1:06:31[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I don't either But like a game.
- 1:06:33[SPEAKER_00]: I do think like a puzzle or something like could be representative of her if she goes her little bridge Knights with her girls.
- 1:06:40[SPEAKER_01]: I think that the Emily from the revival like an end-tuck it Emily would have an analog bag.
- 1:06:44[SPEAKER_01]: Emily like in the series would be like
- 1:06:48[SPEAKER_01]: No, yeah, that's absolutely not it.
- 1:06:51[SPEAKER_01]: You can do it.
- 1:06:51[SPEAKER_01]: You're heard on and it's like that's no absolutely not.
- 1:06:54[SPEAKER_01]: No, thank you But I think that Nantucket Emily
- 1:06:56[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe she'd get into a little needle point, maybe she'd have a little mage on, maybe she'd do a little bridge, you know, maybe she, you know, she has a book.
- 1:07:05[SPEAKER_01]: It always reminds me of that part in the Kelly Bishop memoir, the third Gilmore girl when she's going to the hospital and she like grabs her sack of things and then that includes her Kindle.
- 1:07:12[SPEAKER_01]: Yep.
- 1:07:12[SPEAKER_00]: And that always makes me laugh that she like, she's a book girly through and through.
- 1:07:17[SPEAKER_00]: She's going somewhere, she's going to grab her Kindle and so that like kind of like segues to there that I feel like.
- 1:07:22[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe she's got a candle.
- 1:07:23[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe I can tuck it.
- 1:07:24[SPEAKER_01]: Emily has a candle.
- 1:07:25[SPEAKER_01]: What about Luke?
- 1:07:26[SPEAKER_00]: If we could represent Luke in the analog bag.
- 1:07:28[SPEAKER_00]: Like when I think of his analog This is like gone fishing.
- 1:07:32[SPEAKER_00]: T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-
- 1:07:43[SPEAKER_00]: Because, like, with Jess, of course, Embori, it's so easy, like, a bottle, because they have reading and writing in the margins and writing in general and, like, with the lane, it's music and with lower light, it's soing.
- 1:07:56[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe it's recipes, because that's something that's in my analogue.
- 1:07:59[SPEAKER_00]: I was going to ask about Suki.
- 1:08:01[SPEAKER_01]: Because, like, it ties, actually, I feel like it ties really well both for Luke and Suki.
- 1:08:05[SPEAKER_01]: Because, like, Luke's diner Luke, he just maybe has, like, a backup stitch for his hat, you know, there's nothing.
- 1:08:11[SPEAKER_01]: There's nothing digital about the man's brain.
- 1:08:13[SPEAKER_01]: Total is the analog bag.
- 1:08:14[SPEAKER_01]: He's analog in the brain.
- 1:08:16[SPEAKER_01]: So there's nothing to do there.
- 1:08:17[SPEAKER_00]: Totally.
- 1:08:17[SPEAKER_01]: But I feel like the version of Luke who's like upstairs in the apartment, who's like cooking for Laura Lai, when Liz comes in and he's like, he makes great gumbo.
- 1:08:24[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:08:25[SPEAKER_01]: And I was like running through all these recipes, because he used to make, what did he make for like a month straight?
- 1:08:29[SPEAKER_01]: Was it lasagna?
- 1:08:30[SPEAKER_01]: Trying to perfect it?
- 1:08:31[SPEAKER_01]: I forget what the recipe was.
- 1:08:33[SPEAKER_01]: But it feels very suky and I always keep my recipe journal, which is like a little personalized recipe journal.
- 1:08:39[SPEAKER_01]: My mom got me for Christmas like a year or two ago and I like to like flip through cookbooks.
- 1:08:46[SPEAKER_01]: Like if I know that there's one that I want to go through all like pop it in my bag so that I can write it down.
- 1:08:49[SPEAKER_01]: But like also having allergies, I'll be like, oh, these are the swaps I'm going to make like I'll write out the version of the recipe.
- 1:08:55[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to do in my recipe journal.
- 1:08:57[SPEAKER_01]: So I like to flip through it and be like, oh, I want to make this tonight.
- 1:08:59[SPEAKER_01]: And so all that kind of like menu plan for my family, well, I'll be like, oh, I'm going to make this from them this night.
- 1:09:04[SPEAKER_01]: Everyone's going to be gone this night.
- 1:09:05[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm going to try this for myself.
- 1:09:07[SPEAKER_01]: But like, I will make the same recipe, probably like four times a week.
- 1:09:11[SPEAKER_01]: And they like suffer through it.
- 1:09:12[SPEAKER_01]: Like that's how I got my lemon chicken orzo soup.
- 1:09:15[SPEAKER_01]: Love, perfected, because I made it probably like 20 times one autumn.
- 1:09:19[SPEAKER_01]: And they're like, it's this one.
- 1:09:20[SPEAKER_01]: It's this is the one.
- 1:09:21[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 1:09:22[SPEAKER_00]: And so I want to do that this fall was scones.
- 1:09:24[SPEAKER_00]: Love love a scone again.
- 1:09:26[SPEAKER_01]: I really do want to do sourdough, but like I feel like sourdough as an entry point like feel scary Because you gotta get your starter and all of that.
- 1:09:33[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and so I do want to do that But I my intention is tickle stones my mom will be so excited.
- 1:09:40[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, my mom She's gone.
- 1:09:42[SPEAKER_00]: Oh my god, and she turned me on to scones because when I was younger I didn't really love Raisins and like a raisin scone was very much like entry point but a cranberry scone
- 1:09:54[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not a cranberry orange girl.
- 1:09:56[SPEAKER_00]: I just want to say that's a good flavor.
- 1:09:57[SPEAKER_00]: I don't like citrus in my baked goods.
- 1:10:00[SPEAKER_00]: We've talked about this.
- 1:10:01[SPEAKER_00]: Sometimes if there's like a whisper of it, I'm fine, but I love like a blueberry scone.
- 1:10:08[SPEAKER_00]: And I love experimenting with different flavors.
- 1:10:11[SPEAKER_00]: I love a scone.
- 1:10:13[SPEAKER_01]: love a scone, and so that's why I'm going to do it on a like fine good scone recipes.
- 1:10:17[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, to be fair, I do look about recipes on my phone, but like I like to go searching for things and like write them down to my journal.
- 1:10:24[SPEAKER_01]: So not necessarily scrolling.
- 1:10:25[SPEAKER_01]: I'm just using this community of people who have cooked long before I have and tested all the recipes.
- 1:10:31[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 1:10:31[SPEAKER_01]: And I'll oftentimes find one that like a really good recipe and be like, okay, well, I need to make these swaps, but I'm going to test it a couple of different ways with different types of milk with different types of plant butter like just to see what good swaps are totally and like test them out myself so that I can find good dairy free recipes, but that is like my suky luke because it feels like they are united by their love and the creativity of cooking not so much in the diner.
- 1:10:55[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:10:55[SPEAKER_01]: I think she definitely does it in the kitchen.
- 1:10:57[SPEAKER_01]: Totally fly.
- 1:10:58[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:10:58[SPEAKER_01]: But I feel like the two of them love to experiment, love to try different things, love to make things for days until they find the perfect thing.
- 1:11:06[SPEAKER_01]: And that's what I want to do this fall.
- 1:11:08[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm not doing it in my bag, but yeah, keeping the contents in my bag.
- 1:11:12[SPEAKER_00]: I love that.
- 1:11:13[SPEAKER_00]: about you, which are Luke and Lukey, if you will.
- 1:11:16[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I think like, you know, similarly this year, I, for my bridal shower, which will have just happened, I asked for a family recipe or a love recipe, of course, instead of a gift.
- 1:11:29[SPEAKER_00]: And so I'm really excited to find a way to incorporate that into some sort of book.
- 1:11:34[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:11:34[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, fun.
- 1:11:35[SPEAKER_01]: That's what I want to build up.
- 1:11:36[SPEAKER_01]: I'll see you could like pull them out.
- 1:11:37[SPEAKER_01]: That's what I was thinking.
- 1:11:38[SPEAKER_00]: But I do want it to have some sort of like scrapbook need your to it.
- 1:11:41[SPEAKER_00]: I'm just like, don't turn over.
- 1:11:42[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, put a little photo next.
- 1:11:45[SPEAKER_01]: The little chef, the little baker.
- 1:11:47[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:11:47[SPEAKER_00]: I think it'd be really fun.
- 1:11:49[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, fun.
- 1:11:49[SPEAKER_00]: And it's mostly that like I want to build for our kitchen, like our family kitchen, me and Brett, just like a compilation of well-loved recipes.
- 1:11:59[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 1:11:59[SPEAKER_01]: The lemon chicken or the soup.
- 1:12:00[SPEAKER_01]: That's the one I wrote down.
- 1:12:01[SPEAKER_01]: I'm excited.
- 1:12:02[SPEAKER_01]: which we also really want Brad to write down his gumbo.
- 1:12:05[SPEAKER_01]: But then I was like, no, he can make it for me.
- 1:12:07[SPEAKER_01]: No, but you know that episode where Jackson is town select man and lower lies like you, can you just sign this right here?
- 1:12:13[SPEAKER_00]: I feel like that's a, can you just like write this down right here on this card?
- 1:12:16[SPEAKER_00]: I also was thinking of, but I'm a Gilmore when it's like,
- 1:12:19[SPEAKER_00]: Look, what did you put in the pork chops?
- 1:12:22[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it was like, forget it.
- 1:12:24[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, the little bit of both.
- 1:12:27[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, trying to sneak it out in the comments hilarious.
- 1:12:29[SPEAKER_00]: I do think that like something I really want to get into next summer or it's less next summer.
- 1:12:35[SPEAKER_00]: It's whenever I do have a home where I can do this is I really would love to try to figure out how to garden.
- 1:12:43[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, yes, and not in like the lower like a more pal color coming out.
- 1:12:47[SPEAKER_00]: You're getting, like, color coming out of my union, I'm gardening.
- 1:12:51[SPEAKER_00]: You're what I'm gardening, but I do think that that is like my mom's second home that she purchased last year.
- 1:13:01[SPEAKER_00]: We went up and visited for the first time.
- 1:13:02[SPEAKER_00]: She has this very expansive yard and it had me in this place where I was like,
- 1:13:06[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, I could do this.
- 1:13:08[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 1:13:09[SPEAKER_01]: I'm actually in a not a war, but like I'm in a feud with my parents, H.O.A.
- 1:13:16[SPEAKER_01]: I was like, Florida.
- 1:13:17[SPEAKER_01]: Because you have to be very specific about what you could submit your plans for gardening.
- 1:13:21[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 1:13:21[SPEAKER_01]: And you have to render them.
- 1:13:22[SPEAKER_01]: It's like this whole process that you have to do.
- 1:13:25[SPEAKER_01]: And I said, okay, if I won't do it.
- 1:13:27[SPEAKER_01]: Like, of course I'm going to.
- 1:13:29[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, so it's it's actually I will admit it is a single-sided feud They don't know they're in a feud with me.
- 1:13:36[SPEAKER_01]: They have no idea.
- 1:13:37[SPEAKER_01]: They actually have no idea that I exist Because my mom since many everything, but I I'm in a feud with them.
- 1:13:43[SPEAKER_00]: You are in a feud
- 1:13:44[SPEAKER_00]: I would really love that.
- 1:13:45[SPEAKER_00]: It's just I'm not in the place for it.
- 1:13:48[SPEAKER_00]: Like physically, physically.
- 1:13:49[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not in the, oh my gosh.
- 1:13:50[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 1:13:51[SPEAKER_01]: We got to get to Saratoga, though, and plant some hydrangeas.
- 1:13:53[SPEAKER_00]: We have to go full Jackson.
- 1:13:54[SPEAKER_00]: We felt good.
- 1:13:55[SPEAKER_00]: But have a great time.
- 1:13:57[SPEAKER_01]: Not going to be sleeping with the zucchini.
- 1:14:00[SPEAKER_00]: Exactly.
- 1:14:00[SPEAKER_00]: Because I would eventually love to grow my own vegetables.
- 1:14:03[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
- 1:14:03[SPEAKER_00]: Like, that is my plan for if and when I ever have a home, like a house, I have a home.
- 1:14:07[SPEAKER_01]: You're next to my square tomatoes.
- 1:14:09[SPEAKER_00]: Tomatoes and like, it's just not fall, neither here nor there.
- 1:14:12[SPEAKER_01]: No, no, no, no, it's on the plan.
- 1:14:14[SPEAKER_01]: It's on the right.
- 1:14:15[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, just speaking of hobbies that take you out of the digital.
- 1:14:19[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:14:19[SPEAKER_00]: Honestly, if I'm being so for real, and this is, this goes into my love for Gilmore girls.
- 1:14:23[SPEAKER_00]: I love watching TV watching movies.
- 1:14:26[SPEAKER_00]: I love sitting down.
- 1:14:27[SPEAKER_00]: Like, I love sitting in front of a screen.
- 1:14:29[SPEAKER_00]: And I always have even during the periods of time before smartphones.
- 1:14:32[SPEAKER_01]: Like, I was always, and Laura, like, and Briar, that way too.
- 1:14:35[SPEAKER_01]: They love watching a movie.
- 1:14:37[SPEAKER_01]: And some of these like maybe they fit into your life.
- 1:14:39[SPEAKER_01]: Like you don't have a card and maybe someone does and they're like, oh my gosh I'm finally gonna get into that.
- 1:14:44[SPEAKER_01]: I'm gonna put a gardening book on my analog.
- 1:14:45[SPEAKER_01]: Someone's gonna build me Yeah, someone is gonna I'm gonna build someone yeah, you know what I mean totally But I feel like we can't ignore the fact that like they love to watch movies Yeah, we love to sit in front of the TV and it's like
- 1:14:58[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, so do that.
- 1:14:59[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I don't think that you have to toss out your TV talk.
- 1:15:03[SPEAKER_00]: Oh my god, and that's not what this is It's just over that like the analog era and like going analog has been such a big thing this year That when we were talking about no cell phone summer I was like oh my god We should have we call it this at the time and guess what I call it no cell phone fall.
- 1:15:17[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, like an analog Autumn because I do think again as I've spoken to I think that is some of the charm of Gilmore girls you
- 1:15:25[SPEAKER_00]: Think about the moments of space in between what Lorelie and Brory do and like the action and the narrative and Think about the fact that like if it was 2026 They would maybe be scrolling on their phone and that is a different show.
- 1:15:39[SPEAKER_00]: That's a different show and so it's like let's
- 1:15:42[SPEAKER_00]: world.
- 1:15:42[SPEAKER_01]: It's like, I don't think on TV.
- 1:15:44[SPEAKER_01]: They're like, necessarily showing them.
- 1:15:45[SPEAKER_01]: No, no, no.
- 1:15:46[SPEAKER_01]: I just need to say, step into the world.
- 1:15:48[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, like two, they would be on their phone.
- 1:15:50[SPEAKER_01]: And we wouldn't want that.
- 1:15:52[SPEAKER_00]: No, but they do like to sit in front of the TV.
- 1:15:54[SPEAKER_01]: They love a DVD.
- 1:15:55[SPEAKER_01]: They love the VHS, which I really want to do with my niece and nephew.
- 1:15:59[SPEAKER_01]: I want to get them a DVD player and like teach them the art of the this movie has ended.
- 1:16:05[SPEAKER_01]: The credits are going to play.
- 1:16:06[SPEAKER_01]: And we're going to go back to the DVD menu.
- 1:16:08[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, listen to the song.
- 1:16:09[SPEAKER_00]: They're going to love.
- 1:16:11[SPEAKER_00]: I don't love a DVD menu, so I don't know where they really are.
- 1:16:13[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, absolutely.
- 1:16:14[SPEAKER_00]: But I feel like we all know it well.
- 1:16:16[SPEAKER_01]: If you watch the phone calls on the DVD box, but it's like also the DVD box set is quite fine.
- 1:16:21[SPEAKER_00]: Well, yeah, we kind of started talking about that when Gilmore Girls went off of Netflix.
- 1:16:25[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
- 1:16:25[SPEAKER_00]: It was like, oh, get out to your DVD boxes, your box sets, and I...
- 1:16:31[SPEAKER_00]: Don't consider that necessarily going analog, but it's like, you know, feels like it does feel like a version of it that we're talking about right now.
- 1:16:37[SPEAKER_01]: Exactly.
- 1:16:38[SPEAKER_01]: analog is like truly getting rid of digital products.
- 1:16:41[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, digital technology, if you will, is what I meant to say, but I just feel like there's something fun about like I cannot wait to teach them about a VHS team.
- 1:16:49[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, me too.
- 1:16:50[SPEAKER_01]: like we have so many Disney movies that like of course you can watch them on Disney Plus but like I think there's just something so fun that they're gonna love like a little TV put a little VHS physical media physical media and yeah yeah I feel like that's part of the term of analog that we're like as we're using it as society has been using it yes here
- 1:17:12[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:17:12[SPEAKER_01]: And I think that that would be just like fun to like kind of go into that like movie night mentality that they have of like creating like intentional moments with your family because like we meet in my mom and my sister have gotten into ghosts.
- 1:17:26[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, we're not talking about all the time, but we watch it together.
- 1:17:30[SPEAKER_00]: And they're like, oh my gosh, did you watch this episode?
- 1:17:31[SPEAKER_00]: I watched it, but I'll rewatch it with you.
- 1:17:33[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 1:17:33[SPEAKER_01]: And so it becomes this moment like I'll sit and do my needle point and Hannah's like always playing a game on her phone.
- 1:17:39[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:17:39[SPEAKER_01]: But like we're always sitting there watching it together.
- 1:17:42[SPEAKER_01]: And we're like, okay, are we all done?
- 1:17:43[SPEAKER_01]: Great.
- 1:17:43[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to go to bed.
- 1:17:44[SPEAKER_01]: And we just we just have like a moment.
- 1:17:46[SPEAKER_01]: And I feel like that's what's so fun about it.
- 1:17:47[SPEAKER_01]: It's like just having a intentional sort of time.
- 1:17:50[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:17:50[SPEAKER_01]: I have some snacks.
- 1:17:51[SPEAKER_01]: Have some hobbies while you're doing it.
- 1:17:53[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:17:53[SPEAKER_01]: And just kind of lock in on a new show that feels comforting.
- 1:17:57[SPEAKER_00]: And speaking of snacks, we are going to kind of extend our how to have a Gilmore girls fall episode into this Thursday's episode because we have Courtney the court more commonly known as cheese gal with us to build a how to have a Gilmore girls fall menu yes because she just came out the cookbook last Tuesday on the 15th called oversharing and it is perfect I think it is the perfect sort of book for someone to get
- 1:18:23[SPEAKER_01]: who maybe is like a little afraid of their kitchen, who are not entirely sure what to do.
- 1:18:28[SPEAKER_01]: You don't want to go to the specialized grocery store to get all of these ingredients that you have no idea what to do with a newve never seen before.
- 1:18:37[SPEAKER_01]: It's very accessible.
- 1:18:38[SPEAKER_01]: She loves what she calls a couch.
- 1:18:40[SPEAKER_01]: I was just about to say where she does.
- 1:18:42[SPEAKER_00]: If you are a skeptical, I have two words for you.
- 1:18:44[SPEAKER_00]: Countles.
- 1:18:45[SPEAKER_00]: Snack.
- 1:18:46[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, where she will like do an elevated sultine and elevated potato chip.
- 1:18:51[SPEAKER_01]: She has perfected her martinis like And it's so much more gross talk about we're shopping a recipe.
- 1:18:57[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, she really went through it with her martinis So she has the perfect one, but I really just feel like all of her recipes are really easy to make really delicious Very accessible, whether you love being in the kitchen or you don't want to be in there for too long.
- 1:19:09[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah
- 1:19:09[SPEAKER_01]: I feel like it's so perfect and at the end of it, she has this perfect page where she makes like almost like a party menu for you.
- 1:19:16[SPEAKER_01]: Like if you want to get together with your girls, you have a menu breakdown.
- 1:19:20[SPEAKER_01]: Everything in her is in the cookbook, so you know how to do everything, but she's kind of like playing out a little menu for you.
- 1:19:25[SPEAKER_01]: But in this next episode, she plans out a menu for you of like how to have a Gilmore Girls rewatch whether it's by yourself with a friend, whether it's with a cocktail, with a mocktail.
- 1:19:37[SPEAKER_00]: I think you just perfect and we'll have more to say on that in the next episode.
