- 0:20Speaker 3: Every time I breathe, I take you in and my

- 0:28Speaker 4: Baby yeah, oh, can't help it. Give me jawming in
- 0:32Speaker 4: you love.
- 0:33Speaker 3: You know you're a true Bactory Boys fan when you
- 0:36Speaker 3: get when you love the deep cuts, you know.
- 0:38Speaker 2: The deep cut, the deep pets is in Like what like,
- 0:42Speaker 2: what's a deep cut?
- 0:43Speaker 3: I mean not just like the hits, the ones that
- 0:45Speaker 3: everybody knows.
- 0:46Speaker 4: Just in my mind, every song that they.
- 0:48Speaker 3: Have was a hit. Yeah, I agree, like I was every.
- 0:53Speaker 2: When I think about the Backstreet Boys and I think
- 0:55Speaker 2: about the songs I know, or even what you refer
- 0:57Speaker 2: to as the deep cuts.
- 0:59Speaker 3: Was not like I don't think it was. I think
- 1:01Speaker 3: it was like a deep cut, Like I don't think
- 1:02Speaker 3: it was like a song that was drawn. Yeah, but
- 1:05Speaker 3: we also realized we love the call.
- 1:08Speaker 4: The call.
- 1:08Speaker 3: Yeah, that's a thrill thrill.
- 1:11Speaker 4: It gave me thrill vibe.
- 1:12Speaker 3: I have a whole like routine for it. Oh my gosh,
- 1:15Speaker 3: I made my own music video.
- 1:17Speaker 2: Let's tell them where we are, because we are not
- 1:19Speaker 2: scrubbing in in Burbank in the iHeart studio.
- 1:22Speaker 3: No, we are not in California anymore, ladies and gentlemen.
- 1:25Speaker 4: We are not even close to being in the studio.
- 1:28Speaker 2: We are backstage at this sphere and Las Vegas.
- 1:33Speaker 1: That Backstreet Boys.
- 1:36Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't know how they let us back here
- 1:38Speaker 2: with your history with Kevin.
- 1:39Speaker 3: Okay, well, so we found out we did pod Meats World,
- 1:42Speaker 3: he did a pod swap with pod Meats World, and
- 1:44Speaker 3: we found out that they are interviewing AJ and Kevin,
- 1:49Speaker 3: and we.
- 1:50Speaker 4: Are told us they were just slipped in.
- 1:53Speaker 3: They slid it in there and we were like, oh,
- 1:55Speaker 3: not just AJ, and they're like, no, AJ and Kevin.
- 1:57Speaker 3: I was like, huh, I wonder if there's a restraint
- 2:00Speaker 3: against me.
- 2:01Speaker 4: Tanya's eyes cut to me and was like, do you
- 2:04Speaker 4: hear that?
- 2:04Speaker 2: I was just thinking maybe they're surprising us with Kevin
- 2:07Speaker 2: and then we found out.
- 2:08Speaker 4: No, they're not.
- 2:09Speaker 3: No, no, So I thought it was like cute. But
- 2:14Speaker 3: when I was a teenager, I used to make out
- 2:16Speaker 3: with my like we all did, didn't You used to
- 2:18Speaker 3: make out with like Backstreet boys?
- 2:19Speaker 4: I'm aga woman now, so I think it's safe to
- 2:22Speaker 4: say I.
- 2:22Speaker 3: Was not making out with Jonathan Taylor Thomas post.
- 2:25Speaker 4: Oh my God. I loved John and Saw.
- 2:28Speaker 2: I loved them, and the only person whose posters I
- 2:30Speaker 2: had in my oh my wall was JTT.
- 2:32Speaker 3: Okay, so I had jtts and I didn't kiss them.
- 2:36Speaker 3: Or you didn't practice making out on your posters?
- 2:39Speaker 4: No, no, I think a lot of people did.
- 2:42Speaker 3: I'm serious.
- 2:43Speaker 2: No, I think I always thought that was from the movie.
- 2:45Speaker 2: So when you told me that, I was like, why did.
- 2:47Speaker 3: You practice kissing? What did you practice?
- 2:48Speaker 4: I don't think a person.
- 2:51Speaker 3: I just you didn't practice before a person.
- 2:53Speaker 4: I think I would like kiss like the hand thing,
- 2:56Speaker 4: but like, okay.
- 2:57Speaker 3: That's so much better than a poster of a action boy.
- 3:01Speaker 4: Yeah no, yeah no, because it's like wet paper.
- 3:05Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 3:07Speaker 4: Anyway, she put a hole in the Kevin portion of the.
- 3:09Speaker 3: Poster, burned a hole or my Kevin portion of the poster.
- 3:13Speaker 3: And I told him that an interview that he did
- 3:17Speaker 3: when he was on air with Ryan Seacrest, and things
- 3:20Speaker 3: haven't been the same since.
- 3:21Speaker 2: So we're not getting Kevin, but we did, like, first
- 3:25Speaker 2: of all, this is our first time at the sphere.
- 3:27Speaker 2: So this has been on my bucket list for a
- 3:30Speaker 2: minute to come.
- 3:31Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 3:31Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm excited and I'm so excited.
- 3:33Speaker 4: And Haley and Robbie are with us as well.
- 3:35Speaker 2: Yeah, and Haley, I feel like I've gotten to see
- 3:39Speaker 2: twelve year old Hailey.
- 3:40Speaker 3: I don't think I've ever seen her like this.
- 3:42Speaker 4: She's like she was.
- 3:43Speaker 5: Getting nervous and anxious and they handed us we got
- 3:46Speaker 5: these like really cool lanyards of the IP access and
- 3:49Speaker 5: she was like, oh my gosh.
- 3:54Speaker 4: She's in the room and here's me.
- 3:55Speaker 2: But it's really really cute, and we're just excited that
- 3:58Speaker 2: we all get to be here together.
- 4:00Speaker 4: You feel the same.
- 4:00Speaker 3: Way like, And I just feel like I was so,
- 4:05Speaker 3: so so obsessed with all the boy bands back in
- 4:08Speaker 3: the day. I mean it was really just backstory, poison
- 4:10Speaker 3: and sync, but I mean I ran deep. I did
- 4:12Speaker 3: like ninety eight degrees. I also liked what are the brothers?
- 4:17Speaker 3: The three by Hanson? Uh, not the Jonas brothers, but
- 4:21Speaker 3: also the Jonah's brothers. Yeah, who what are they?
- 4:24Speaker 4: A boy band fan for a long time.
- 4:26Speaker 3: Yeah, so it feels very what's the word three sixty?
- 4:31Speaker 4: Yeah? What if you're what?
- 4:33Speaker 6: You know?
- 4:33Speaker 2: They call them stands, but you're stn because Tonyn.
- 4:38Speaker 4: You're stne. Okay.
- 4:41Speaker 2: So when you walk in the sphere, there's this door
- 4:46Speaker 2: and it has all of the old posters, I mean
- 4:48Speaker 2: like posters from magazine.
- 4:50Speaker 4: Yeah, Iconic fourteen seventeen. And Tanya found.
- 4:55Speaker 5: The poster that I located it Yes, Kevin's face off
- 5:00Speaker 5: of Yes, and they.
- 5:02Speaker 4: High up to where she wouldn't be able to reach.
- 5:04Speaker 3: I couldn't get it with my mouth and that feels personal.
- 5:07Speaker 3: Try it's too was way.
- 5:09Speaker 4: Too high, the highest one.
- 5:11Speaker 2: I'm like, they heard you were coming and they said
- 5:13Speaker 2: that one's got to go top show.
- 5:14Speaker 3: Yeah. Yeah, but I also have like the personal ones too,
- 5:18Speaker 3: you know, like the ones of them solo. My room
- 5:22Speaker 3: was covered. Whoa, I know someways my parents let me
- 5:25Speaker 3: do that.
- 5:26Speaker 4: Okay.
- 5:26Speaker 2: So we're I don't know the set you know, a
- 5:29Speaker 2: lot of people look at the set list.
- 5:30Speaker 3: But when the set list, you do. Obviously, I've watched
- 5:33Speaker 3: every TikTok. I've seen every video.
- 5:35Speaker 2: We've tried to not watch, Like Ashley, I posted all
- 5:38Speaker 2: of them and we tried not to watch because we
- 5:39Speaker 2: want it to be like.
- 5:40Speaker 4: Totally just blind going in as much as we can.
- 5:43Speaker 3: So you're one of those people who when you go
- 5:44Speaker 3: to a restaurant, you don't look at the menu before.
- 5:48Speaker 2: I look at Haley's going because I need to see
- 5:49Speaker 2: if they can accommodate her out.
- 5:51Speaker 3: But you wouldn't look normally. No, Oh my god, I.
- 5:54Speaker 1: Don't feel like that's comparable.
- 5:55Speaker 3: There's two types of people in this world.
- 5:58Speaker 1: Look at the menu of a menu is not like
- 6:01Speaker 1: a show that they like.
- 6:02Speaker 4: It is the menu.
- 6:03Speaker 3: It's the menu of the songs we're getting tonight. Hell
- 6:06Speaker 3: anybody else? Okay, so thank you?
- 6:09Speaker 2: My head abouts feeling just that feels my teamwork. What
- 6:14Speaker 2: of the setless songs? What are you most excited about?
- 6:18Speaker 1: Want to?
- 6:19Speaker 4: I can assume we already talked about that. Yeah, anything else?
- 6:23Speaker 4: That's all we've given attention to.
- 6:25Speaker 3: That's all I want to give attention to.
- 6:27Speaker 2: Okay, I am excited for the feeling of I want
- 6:33Speaker 2: it that way live. Yeah, I'm excited. I really want
- 6:39Speaker 2: it was one of their first hits. The wait, they're asked,
- 6:44Speaker 2: I don't care who.
- 6:46Speaker 3: You are, you don't care what you did, as long
- 6:54Speaker 3: as you love.
- 6:55Speaker 1: Me may man.
- 6:58Speaker 4: Yeah, so I'm really excited about I have sing that
- 7:01Speaker 4: is that on there.
- 7:02Speaker 3: Yeah, of course. Oh well no, that's the one thing
- 7:06Speaker 3: about these shows I feel like is they they're going
- 7:09Speaker 3: to give you the hits. They're not golly be hanging.
- 7:11Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 7:12Speaker 2: I actually saw them a few years ago, and you
- 7:14Speaker 2: know what I was thinking about. I feel like the
- 7:15Speaker 2: Backstree Boys because there's a lot of boy brand a
- 7:18Speaker 2: lot of boy bands.
- 7:19Speaker 4: Can I not speak the boy bands broke up?
- 7:21Speaker 3: Yeah, and I feel like Backstree.
- 7:23Speaker 2: Boys is what brought everyone back together because they did
- 7:26Speaker 2: it first.
- 7:27Speaker 3: They were the first to come back.
- 7:29Speaker 4: I believe they were me looking for confirmation that I
- 7:33Speaker 4: remember they never technically broke up.
- 7:36Speaker 3: Yeah, I was gonna say, I feel like none of
- 7:37Speaker 3: them like wanted to be like the breakout star and
- 7:39Speaker 3: have their own solo career. They took like breaks, but
- 7:42Speaker 3: they never like officially broke up. Yeah that's what I
- 7:45Speaker 3: felt like. Yeah, because instinct did break up.
- 7:47Speaker 1: They did.
- 7:48Speaker 3: Yeah, it's like.
- 7:49Speaker 4: Why break up? Why not just take some space because.
- 7:53Speaker 3: They have Okay, I have this theory and I don't
- 7:55Speaker 3: know this. Obviously I'm not part of a boy band
- 7:58Speaker 3: or a musical band, but I think that people when
- 8:01Speaker 3: they're in a band, they feel like their creativity is
- 8:02Speaker 3: stifled because they have to like do what's right for
- 8:05Speaker 3: the whole team, and people want to express themselves artistically
- 8:09Speaker 3: in their own like creative way, and so they like,
- 8:12Speaker 3: I'm going to do this and I'm gonna do it better,
- 8:15Speaker 3: and then they go off and try and do it
- 8:16Speaker 3: better and it doesn't work, and then they're.
- 8:17Speaker 2: Like, oh, I know, but sometimes it does work out
- 8:21Speaker 2: for one person, right, and that's the.
- 8:27Speaker 4: Yeah, correct, Nick Jonas.
- 8:31Speaker 3: But the Jonas brothers are back and better than that.
- 8:33Speaker 2: What I'm saying though, it's like sometimes you just have
- 8:36Speaker 2: to realize I had my time of separation, that.
- 8:38Speaker 3: We're better, we're better together, like us like me and you, yeah,
- 8:44Speaker 3: get the band back together. We're definitely better together, do
- 8:47Speaker 3: you think.
- 8:47Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 8:48Speaker 3: Yeah. Anyways, So so we're about to interview a j
- 8:57Speaker 3: He's going to come in here and and then we
- 8:59Speaker 3: have like a cute dinner. We're gonna do like cute
- 9:02Speaker 3: like double date dinner, and then we're gonna come back
- 9:04Speaker 3: for the show and just like pop in. You know,
- 9:06Speaker 3: it's like a twenty four hours in Vegas. I feel
- 9:08Speaker 3: like we're like Lady Gaga just flying in for the night,
- 9:11Speaker 3: you know. Is that what she does I don't know.
- 9:14Speaker 4: Yeah, talk storry to like.
- 9:16Speaker 2: The best part though, was that Tanya has been nauseous
- 9:18Speaker 2: since we got here and we haven't had a single drink. Nothing,
- 9:21Speaker 2: We've done, nothing that would make us nauseous that would
- 9:26Speaker 2: typically happen in Vegas.
- 9:27Speaker 4: Just the bumpy fight.
- 9:28Speaker 3: I think I could have a drink because of how
- 9:30Speaker 3: nauseous I feel.
- 9:31Speaker 4: Are we drinking tonight?
- 9:34Speaker 3: I'll have a drink.
- 9:35Speaker 4: I was thinking that too.
- 9:36Speaker 2: Yeah, I gotta be careful my illness.
- 9:41Speaker 4: I'm still battling.
- 9:45Speaker 2: And I were like, we've literally been sick for so long,
- 9:47Speaker 2: and then all of a sudden, it's.
- 9:49Speaker 4: Like our first thing back is Vegas.
- 9:51Speaker 3: Yeah, it's we're throwing you in.
- 9:53Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, you got to jump into the deep end.
- 10:11Speaker 6: All right, that's enough about us, because you hear from
- 10:15Speaker 6: us every week, but it's not every week that we
- 10:18Speaker 6: get to interview one a member of one of the
- 10:21Speaker 6: greatest boy bands of.
- 10:22Speaker 3: All all time?
- 10:23Speaker 4: Do you think they would rather be a man men
- 10:26Speaker 4: men man band? Because boy band?
- 10:29Speaker 2: No, you don't know, they're okay, one of the greatest
- 10:32Speaker 2: I think boy band boy bands of all time.
- 10:34Speaker 3: Band sounds sounds dirty, It sounds like sexual kind.
- 10:41Speaker 4: Of it doesn't have to. It doesn't have to.
- 10:44Speaker 3: I think goes dirty, yeah, scrubbing in we have a
- 10:48Speaker 3: j here. This is crazy, right, but for us.
- 10:58Speaker 4: Like for us, I think crazier for us than for Yeah,
- 11:01Speaker 4: but that's a good thing.
- 11:02Speaker 1: I mean, crazy is good when it's putting smiles on
- 11:04Speaker 1: your faces, like it is right now, that's a good thing.
- 11:06Speaker 3: Well, because I mean you know this, but like I
- 11:09Speaker 3: used to have, my walls were covered in posters of
- 11:12Speaker 3: you guys, like just covered in posters of you all,
- 11:15Speaker 3: and like it's so crazy to be here for interviewing
- 11:19Speaker 3: you and then to be able to see you guys
- 11:21Speaker 3: at the sphere. Like it's just it feels like a
- 11:23Speaker 3: like a weird life moment.
- 11:24Speaker 1: I mean, everything comes full circle. Yeah, I mean so
- 11:28Speaker 1: I think it's I I love hearing things like that
- 11:31Speaker 1: because it's just reminds me of why we love to
- 11:35Speaker 1: do what we do, because, like I said, it's full circle.
- 11:39Speaker 2: Yea.
- 11:39Speaker 1: You know, talking to a lot of the fans in
- 11:41Speaker 1: our meet and greets after the show or if we
- 11:44Speaker 1: have a chance before the show to talk to people,
- 11:46Speaker 1: you know, just hearing the stories of how us as
- 11:50Speaker 1: a band or our music has inspired people, or it's
- 11:53Speaker 1: influenced people, or it takes them back to a certain memory.
- 11:57Speaker 1: It's just it's just so like joyful to like hear
- 12:00Speaker 1: that and to know that we were a part of
- 12:02Speaker 1: someone's life in a positive way through our music, you know.
- 12:07Speaker 1: I mean. And now getting to kind of take everybody
- 12:09Speaker 1: back to nineteen ninety nine with a little bit of
- 12:14Speaker 1: two thousand and current in one show at the most
- 12:18Speaker 1: state of the art venue is pretty rad.
- 12:21Speaker 2: I was going to ask, what do you remember where
- 12:23Speaker 2: you were when you got the call or the email
- 12:26Speaker 2: whatever it was that y'all were going to.
- 12:28Speaker 4: Be Oh, that was non intentional thank.
- 12:30Speaker 1: You when I got the page, like.
- 12:32Speaker 2: When they told you that y'all were going to be
- 12:35Speaker 2: at the sphere Because in my mind, and I am
- 12:37Speaker 2: not an artist, so I don't know, but this just
- 12:39Speaker 2: feels like the dream come true.
- 12:43Speaker 1: I mean, this is the next phase for anyone I
- 12:46Speaker 1: think that wants to do any type of residency in
- 12:49Speaker 1: Las Vegas. We did a residency at Plant Hollywood back
- 12:51Speaker 1: in seventeen to nineteen, and there was a subject matter
- 12:55Speaker 1: that I kept bringing up over the last seven years
- 12:58Speaker 1: that I wish I could take credit for, but it
- 13:00Speaker 1: was my wife's idea to recreate the Millennium tour that
- 13:05Speaker 1: was this thing like no one had ever done something
- 13:07Speaker 1: like that before to where they go and they kind
- 13:09Speaker 1: of recreate their biggest tour ever. And it just wasn't
- 13:16Speaker 1: the right timing. It wasn't the right situation, and we
- 13:18Speaker 1: were still on tour doing the DNA tour. We're doing
- 13:21Speaker 1: the tour prior to that, and it just never really
- 13:25Speaker 1: made sense. And then we started hearing rumblings about Vegas
- 13:28Speaker 1: wanting us to come back and do another residency, and
- 13:31Speaker 1: we were talking to different hotels and I threw it
- 13:35Speaker 1: out in the atmosphere to our management. I'm like, you
- 13:38Speaker 1: know what, what about doing sphere? And then it just
- 13:42Speaker 1: kind of went radio silent. But I think that's because
- 13:45Speaker 1: they already knew that there was they didn't want to
- 13:47Speaker 1: tell us, and so I don't know, when did you
- 13:53Speaker 1: tell us? Like I do you want a conference call? Yeah?
- 13:57Speaker 1: And it was just like okay, like now what? But
- 14:02Speaker 1: what was so cool was the process of a show
- 14:05Speaker 1: like this is really two shows in one, especially for
- 14:08Speaker 1: like guys like us that are doing our normal stage production,
- 14:12Speaker 1: dancing and singing, the whole gambit. There's that's that's one show,
- 14:16Speaker 1: and then you have this insane content behind you, which
- 14:20Speaker 1: is a completely separate show. So the process of making
- 14:25Speaker 1: this was really really fun. We actually physically, I think
- 14:28Speaker 1: for five songs, shot content for it that you'll see tonight.
- 14:32Speaker 3: But I feel like, so when when you when Backstreet
- 14:35Speaker 3: Boys first started, so when you guys were like just
- 14:37Speaker 3: starting when you were.
- 14:38Speaker 1: Like I was fourteen.
- 14:41Speaker 3: Kids, Yeah, and like so you're touring or doing like
- 14:45Speaker 3: and girls are going fairal for you, right, and they
- 14:48Speaker 3: still are. But like I want to, I feel like
- 14:50Speaker 3: it's so crazy because you guys have just been around
- 14:52Speaker 3: for so long. Like what was it like when you
- 14:54Speaker 3: were touring back then before like people had their like
- 14:57Speaker 3: filming everything.
- 14:59Speaker 1: I mean, it was a it was a whole different world.
- 15:01Speaker 1: I mean, I'm for me personally, I'm very thankful there
- 15:04Speaker 1: was no social media back in the time for personal reasons,
- 15:09Speaker 1: back when I was in my party phase before I
- 15:11Speaker 1: got sober, I was definitely happy about that. No, it
- 15:14Speaker 1: was a different time completely in the sense of, like
- 15:17Speaker 1: you know, even for us when it came to like
- 15:20Speaker 1: press and media, like you had to show up to
- 15:23Speaker 1: the radio station, meet the program directors, do the interviews
- 15:26Speaker 1: there at the station. There was no zoom interviews. There
- 15:29Speaker 1: was none. You know, even this feels retro like to
- 15:33Speaker 1: actually sit down and see people face to face and
- 15:35Speaker 1: actually do an interview compared to what it normally is
- 15:38Speaker 1: nowadays it's all virtual. But the one upside is fans
- 15:46Speaker 1: back then they might have had their you know, disposable
- 15:49Speaker 1: cameras or you know, their polaroids or their camera cameras,
- 15:53Speaker 1: which there was a lot of those, but there was
- 15:55Speaker 1: a lot less of this watching the show through. But
- 16:01Speaker 1: I will say, though I don't know why this one has,
- 16:05Speaker 1: it doesn't feel like there's that many phones out during
- 16:08Speaker 1: this show. I don't know why that is. I feel
- 16:10Speaker 1: like there's more people actually engaging in wanting to watch
- 16:13Speaker 1: what's happening on stage and on the screen, like in
- 16:18Speaker 1: real time and not through their phone, which is kind
- 16:20Speaker 1: of a breath of fresh air, because we had talked
- 16:22Speaker 1: about the idea of maybe not having phones allowed, and
- 16:25Speaker 1: that would not go over well. You know, our fans
- 16:28Speaker 1: would lose their mind if they couldn't have their phones,
- 16:30Speaker 1: because you know, once you post it after opening night,
- 16:33Speaker 1: the world knows what the show is, what the intro is.
- 16:35Speaker 1: But it's not the same in this venue. You have
- 16:39Speaker 1: to physically be here to experience it. You'll never feel
- 16:43Speaker 1: that through your phone. We have.
- 16:44Speaker 2: I was telling her, I've tried to skip every video
- 16:47Speaker 2: anyone's posted because I've just wanted to be like a.
- 16:50Speaker 3: I've watched every single video, every single person. I know everything,
- 16:57Speaker 3: Like no, I know, I know, just know everything.
- 17:00Speaker 1: But have you seen a show here before?
- 17:01Speaker 3: Never? Never?
- 17:04Speaker 1: Yeah, it's it's it's gonna it's gonna mess you guys up,
- 17:07Speaker 1: Like it's gonna mess up just concerts in general. Like
- 17:09Speaker 1: I've been hearing that from a lot of people, Like,
- 17:12Speaker 1: like seeing seeing a show here in general is like
- 17:16Speaker 1: ruining it for people to go see a normal concert
- 17:18Speaker 1: outside of her because you'll never on on the planet
- 17:21Speaker 1: anywhere else but this venue experience what you experienced here.
- 17:24Speaker 1: Oh wow, it's never gonna happen.
- 17:26Speaker 3: Also, you were saying when you sat down that you
- 17:29Speaker 3: finished your album.
- 17:30Speaker 1: You just finished my debut solo record last night at
- 17:33Speaker 1: three in the morning with my Yeah, last night was
- 17:37Speaker 1: a late night. Last night was a late night. But
- 17:40Speaker 1: we've been we've been in the studio all week this week,
- 17:42Speaker 1: so this was my week off. But it wasn't a
- 17:44Speaker 1: week off. But doing something like that, to me is
- 17:46Speaker 1: just so much fun, like finally getting to put a
- 17:50Speaker 1: you know, to button this up. It's been about four
- 17:52Speaker 1: years because we were on tour doing the DNA tour
- 17:55Speaker 1: and then we had to stop the tour because of
- 17:57Speaker 1: COVID then resume the tour. We didn't that tour till
- 18:00Speaker 1: May of twenty twenty three, so I didn't have a
- 18:03Speaker 1: lot of time. And then right after the tour was
- 18:05Speaker 1: done in twenty three, I took a little trip to Scottsdale,
- 18:08Speaker 1: Arizona to do a little mental health retreat for me,
- 18:11Speaker 1: a little bit of me time that I had never done,
- 18:13Speaker 1: and it truly saved me. It like put me in
- 18:15Speaker 1: the right headspace I've never been in to actually have
- 18:21Speaker 1: self esteem, to love myself, to respect myself, to put
- 18:24Speaker 1: myself first, and to know that all of that's okay,
- 18:27Speaker 1: and to know that no is a complete sentence and
- 18:29Speaker 1: I know what boundaries are now.
- 18:31Speaker 3: And you know what's interesting though, I always feel like
- 18:35Speaker 3: just because I remember, like, and I'm just one person,
- 18:38Speaker 3: how obsessed I was with you guys, Like it must
- 18:42Speaker 3: be so crazy to have all that like attention from
- 18:47Speaker 3: millions and millions of people like it's got to be
- 18:50Speaker 3: a weird thing to navigate.
- 18:52Speaker 1: It's weird. But I think for me, I I loved it.
- 18:56Speaker 1: I loved it for the wrong reasons, and I never
- 19:00Speaker 1: I never felt that I deserved it. Among many things,
- 19:03Speaker 1: I also never felt.
- 19:04Speaker 3: Like imposters syndrome. Huh, imposter syndrome.
- 19:07Speaker 1: Yeah, Like I never like I always had this. You know,
- 19:10Speaker 1: I lived in this mindset, a piece of sism. That's
- 19:13Speaker 1: what I literally called it is. That's kind of the
- 19:16Speaker 1: headspace I was in, and I didn't realize it untill
- 19:18Speaker 1: I really got into the party phase. And why all
- 19:21Speaker 1: that happened, you know, the drugs and drinking and all
- 19:24Speaker 1: that was just symptomatic to what was really going on
- 19:26Speaker 1: inside here and inside here, which was that self sabotage
- 19:30Speaker 1: of not liking the person I was. And today, finally
- 19:35Speaker 1: after I mean, I'm forty seven, it took me a
- 19:36Speaker 1: while better late than ever, I can look at myself
- 19:39Speaker 1: in the mirror and I like who I see, And
- 19:41Speaker 1: it shows across the board. It shows with my relationships
- 19:44Speaker 1: with my family, shows with my relationship with the boys,
- 19:47Speaker 1: with my friends, with you know, the people that I
- 19:50Speaker 1: care about the most like I can be present, I
- 19:53Speaker 1: can be here, you know, and so yeah, but I
- 19:57Speaker 1: think I think you have competition as far as fans go.
- 20:01Speaker 1: I think my daughters might beat U as far as
- 20:04Speaker 1: the biggest Backtory boy fans.
- 20:06Speaker 3: Wow, maybe they might.
- 20:08Speaker 4: They might have a little edge on you.
- 20:10Speaker 3: Yeah, they might have a little edge.
- 20:12Speaker 2: I have a question because we just binged or watched
- 20:15Speaker 2: Building the band Nice and we love We just love you,
- 20:18Speaker 2: And I was wondering if that took.
- 20:21Speaker 4: You back to the process of because I don't even know.
- 20:25Speaker 2: First of all, Haley, my fiance was like, ask him,
- 20:28Speaker 2: what where did Backstreet come from?
- 20:30Speaker 4: What does backstreet mean?
- 20:31Speaker 1: I mean we so we got our name from a
- 20:33Speaker 1: flea market. Essentially. It was a place called the Backstreet
- 20:36Speaker 1: Market in our Orlando, Florida, just off it was off
- 20:39Speaker 1: this little road called International Drive, which was like Tourist Central,
- 20:42Speaker 1: Like they had those stupid sling shot things that you
- 20:46Speaker 1: know where they people are getting sick, and tattoo shops, bars,
- 20:50Speaker 1: Tgi Friday's, freaking Bennegan's. All that stuff was on there.
- 20:54Speaker 1: But that's where we got the name Backstreet. And then
- 20:56Speaker 1: boys because we're all boys. Boys, well, we were boys.
- 21:01Speaker 1: But you know, like you've got the beach Boys, the
- 21:04Speaker 1: Oakrage Boys, the pet shop boys, beastie boys, like you know,
- 21:07Speaker 1: they're all in their fifties, sixties, seventies, whatever, but they're
- 21:10Speaker 1: still boys like that. So that's never going to change.
- 21:12Speaker 3: For Yeah, Becca was like, should we call them Backstreet men?
- 21:15Speaker 4: I was like, oh man band, Oh right.
- 21:21Speaker 1: Yeah, no, I mean look, doing the show it it
- 21:25Speaker 1: did bring back a lot of memories. Although it was
- 21:27Speaker 1: a different approach than how we did things. You know,
- 21:30Speaker 1: because you're filming a show, it's a lot more fast paced.
- 21:34Speaker 1: You know, they would get information on a Friday morning,
- 21:37Speaker 1: and Friday afternoon they have to perform three songs live
- 21:40Speaker 1: and do this and do that, so it's like it
- 21:42Speaker 1: was really quick.
- 21:43Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 21:44Speaker 1: But what I love so much about the show is
- 21:46Speaker 1: how they formed and how they were put together. Where
- 21:50Speaker 1: we were put together put together. I was the original og.
- 21:53Speaker 1: I helped put the group together. But the way that
- 21:56Speaker 1: we did it on the show where there it's basically blind,
- 22:00Speaker 1: you're doing it based on talent and compatibility. I love
- 22:03Speaker 1: that part of this show because you really are going
- 22:06Speaker 1: based on talent. You don't care about what that person
- 22:09Speaker 1: looks like and you really are trying to trying to
- 22:12Speaker 1: form this connection with someone sight unseen. And to me,
- 22:18Speaker 1: the most like emotional moment was when they first got
- 22:22Speaker 1: to meet each other face to face. Like watching that
- 22:24Speaker 1: from size stage was just so freaking badass, Like some
- 22:27Speaker 1: of them could even finished singing, Yeah, that was awesome.
- 22:47Speaker 2: When y'all forms the band, were you you consider your
- 22:52Speaker 2: Do you consider yourself the leader of the band because
- 22:54Speaker 2: you came in and you were like looking at all
- 22:56Speaker 2: of our white and you were like, this was my idea.
- 22:59Speaker 1: No, definitely, I'm definitely not the leader. Leaders might think
- 23:03Speaker 1: they are, but I won't say names.
- 23:05Speaker 6: I feel like you're.
- 23:08Speaker 2: No.
- 23:08Speaker 1: But Kevin ageins Kevin gets deemed the leader because he's
- 23:11Speaker 1: the oldest.
- 23:12Speaker 3: I always felt like he was the leader.
- 23:14Speaker 1: I'm the second youngest, so you wouldn't want me to
- 23:16Speaker 1: be the leader. But no, I I'm just look, there
- 23:22Speaker 1: is no real leader. Everybody kind of knows their place.
- 23:24Speaker 1: We all pull each other's weight, we all back each
- 23:27Speaker 1: other up, and we all have like a clear understanding
- 23:30Speaker 1: of what each of us likes, dislikes, what we're willing
- 23:34Speaker 1: to do not not willing to do so. And now
- 23:38Speaker 1: today I feel we're the tightest we've ever been.
- 23:42Speaker 3: That comes through by the.
- 23:42Speaker 1: Way we are. We went through Helen back over the
- 23:45Speaker 1: last thirty two years, highs lows, highs lows, lawsuits, management, companies, girlfriends, wives, whatever,
- 23:51Speaker 1: different things, all this stuff, like we've we've been through
- 23:54Speaker 1: everything together and now it's just this unspoken comfortability, this
- 24:01Speaker 1: unspoken connection that I just feel is the tightest it's
- 24:06Speaker 1: ever been. So we know we can sit down and
- 24:09Speaker 1: have a little pow wow. I'm not the money guy, Like,
- 24:13Speaker 1: I don't talk to me about the money side of things,
- 24:15Speaker 1: the business side of things, because I suck at that.
- 24:18Speaker 1: You want to talk to me about creative or about
- 24:20Speaker 1: stuff like the white outfits or you know that's my wheelhouse.
- 24:24Speaker 3: Who's the business guy in the group.
- 24:25Speaker 1: It's Howie and Brian. I think there really are two
- 24:29Speaker 1: strong business guys. We're all creative across the ri but
- 24:33Speaker 1: everybody kind of brings something different to the creative side.
- 24:36Speaker 1: Like Kevin. He will be here till six in the morning,
- 24:40Speaker 1: listening to the music, watching the edits, looking at the stage,
- 24:44Speaker 1: making sure everything.
- 24:45Speaker 3: Wow.
- 24:45Speaker 1: He's a perfectionist, but he's definitely loosened up a little
- 24:48Speaker 1: bit where like, you know what, you got to go
- 24:50Speaker 1: with the flow sometimes, yeah something it's not always going
- 24:53Speaker 1: to be perfect.
- 24:54Speaker 3: And I want to say congratulations because you guys extended
- 24:56Speaker 3: your dates we did, which is huge, which means the
- 24:59Speaker 3: demand is there.
- 25:00Speaker 1: The demand is there, and I mean we're being told
- 25:03Speaker 1: it was even a bigger poll than it was the
- 25:05Speaker 1: first time around. So December twenty sixth through January third
- 25:09Speaker 1: is the next batch. And then I mean, we're gonna
- 25:12Speaker 1: stay here as long as they want us here, you
- 25:13Speaker 1: know what I mean. Like this is it's a it's
- 25:16Speaker 1: a it's a dream job. It's a dream scenario because
- 25:20Speaker 1: you're in one place, You're in an international hub. You're
- 25:23Speaker 1: getting people from all over the world coming to the
- 25:26Speaker 1: twenty four to seven. So it's a great way and
- 25:29Speaker 1: it's easier on our bodies.
- 25:31Speaker 3: Yeah, touring is it's.
- 25:32Speaker 1: Not necessarily the same as it was back in the day,
- 25:35Speaker 1: you know. But for me personally, I do miss being
- 25:38Speaker 1: on a tour bus. I love being on a tour bus.
- 25:39Speaker 1: That's my homeway from home. I just love traveling and
- 25:43Speaker 1: seeing the world. But so who knows if we'll do
- 25:45Speaker 1: a tour down the road at some point. I don't know,
- 25:47Speaker 1: but we're gonna stay here as long as they want
- 25:49Speaker 1: us to.
- 25:50Speaker 4: What's your favorite song of this set? Do you have
- 25:53Speaker 4: a favorite moment? And what's your favorite outfit? Because I
- 25:56Speaker 4: feel like you're a.
- 25:57Speaker 1: My favorite like in this show. Yeah, favorite out in
- 26:00Speaker 1: the show is the last look because it's the most
- 26:04Speaker 1: for me personally, it's the most me being me. Everything
- 26:07Speaker 1: else is stagy and very costume, but classy and fun
- 26:12Speaker 1: and fashion driven. But favorite song to perform in the
- 26:15Speaker 1: show A probably Visually Siberia is A.
- 26:23Speaker 7: It's trippy. It's trippy. We shot content for that and
- 26:27Speaker 7: it's disturbing. I'm just gonna tell you it's disturbing. It's
- 26:30Speaker 7: it's cool, but it's weird. But that one's just fun
- 26:35Speaker 7: because it's it's it's one of our favorites. It was
- 26:37Speaker 7: on Never Gone, so it's nowhere near the millennium time period,
- 26:41Speaker 7: but we haven't performed at Lives in d since two
- 26:45Speaker 7: thousand and four, so we wanted to put that back in.
- 26:48Speaker 1: It's our favorite. But for me probably, I do love
- 26:56Speaker 1: getting another boyfriend. It's still one of my favorites. I
- 27:00Speaker 1: don't know. Actually, Larger than Life. The whole intro of
- 27:03Speaker 1: the show is really really really cool, between the visuals,
- 27:06Speaker 1: the costumes, the staging, everything, it's it's really really cool.
- 27:11Speaker 2: When y'all were doing the set list, was it like, hey,
- 27:14Speaker 2: I want to do this, so how do you do that?
- 27:16Speaker 1: Well?
- 27:16Speaker 4: How do you pick something when you have such a huge.
- 27:18Speaker 1: I mean, the one thing that was imperative was we
- 27:20Speaker 1: had to do the entire Millennium album. So you will
- 27:23Speaker 1: see and hear every song from the Millennium Album in
- 27:27Speaker 1: the show. Some of them are not full songs. We
- 27:31Speaker 1: did four of them in a medley during the show.
- 27:35Speaker 1: One of those songs is actually probably one of the
- 27:37Speaker 1: most emotional moments, which is perfect fan. You know, we
- 27:40Speaker 1: have a collage of photos of all of our our
- 27:43Speaker 1: moms and our wives that are moms now, so like
- 27:46Speaker 1: it's a pretty opening night. Kevin couldn't even get the
- 27:50Speaker 1: first line out because he lost his mom not that
- 27:53Speaker 1: long ago, and so you know, and he's a he's
- 27:56Speaker 1: probably the most emotional out of all of us. He's headstrong,
- 27:59Speaker 1: but he cries like that and once he goes, then
- 28:02Speaker 1: we go. It's one of those it's one of those Yeah,
- 28:06Speaker 1: But like I said, I just tell people you're in
- 28:09Speaker 1: for a ride.
- 28:10Speaker 3: Okay, so you extended dates the album. When's your sol
- 28:12Speaker 3: album coming out?
- 28:13Speaker 1: So the album we're looking at actually is around or
- 28:15Speaker 1: on my birthday, which it just happens to be January ninth,
- 28:19Speaker 1: which is a Friday, which is when you release new music. Okay,
- 28:22Speaker 1: and the EP will be out in November.
- 28:24Speaker 3: Very exciting.
- 28:25Speaker 4: What's the But what can you tell us anything about
- 28:27Speaker 4: the album?
- 28:28Speaker 1: It's pop, R and B, a little bit of funk
- 28:32Speaker 1: and yeah, it's just it's it's a feel good record,
- 28:37Speaker 1: like there's it's it's all kind of gelled well together.
- 28:41Speaker 1: There's a couple of songs that kind of stick out
- 28:43Speaker 1: on their own, that are in their own lane. But
- 28:46Speaker 1: I mean, the cream rose to the top last night.
- 28:49Speaker 1: The songs that we just finished are just like.
- 28:52Speaker 3: When you know you know, yeah, like they picked you yeah,
- 28:54Speaker 3: like when you know.
- 28:55Speaker 1: You know, and like between all of the writers and
- 28:59Speaker 1: my just amazing, Like we just we just walked out
- 29:02Speaker 1: of the studio last night like we did it, like yeah,
- 29:05Speaker 1: this is it, Like it's just good.
- 29:08Speaker 2: Like y'all wrote some of the songs that will be
- 29:10Speaker 2: on the album, just started them last night and ended them.
- 29:13Speaker 1: Well, we started writing on Monday and we finished last night.
- 29:16Speaker 1: We got about four songs in so and then there's
- 29:20Speaker 1: one more that I want to I'm going to finish
- 29:22Speaker 1: when I get back to LA after we're done with
- 29:24Speaker 1: this leg, but that'll be on the album, so I
- 29:27Speaker 1: have time to get that way done and mixed.
- 29:29Speaker 2: So are you someone who needs to be doing something
- 29:33Speaker 2: all the time, because I'm like, you're doing this massive
- 29:37Speaker 2: show and then you're writing your own album.
- 29:39Speaker 1: I am. I mean yes, and no, I've I've slowed
- 29:42Speaker 1: down a lot because I've kind of had to, like
- 29:47Speaker 1: and plus I want to, like I want to take
- 29:49Speaker 1: everything in. Yeah, normally, like I'm in the gym every day.
- 29:54Speaker 1: I'm you know, I take my case of school in
- 29:57Speaker 1: the morning. I do normal life when I'm home. You know,
- 30:02Speaker 1: I'm on the golf course as much as I can be.
- 30:04Speaker 1: But I unfortunately have a torn rotator cuff right now,
- 30:07Speaker 1: so like there's not a lot I can do, like
- 30:11Speaker 1: even doing the show. It hurts, but what are you
- 30:15Speaker 1: gonna do? Like, the show must go on and my
- 30:16Speaker 1: arm hasn't fallen off yet, so we're good. I'm trying
- 30:20Speaker 1: to avoid surgery, but I have a surgery date setup
- 30:22Speaker 1: for October. It's two months of downtime. It's fine. But yeah,
- 30:28Speaker 1: now hopefully now it's out there as public because when
- 30:30Speaker 1: we did our after party last weekend, a couple of
- 30:32Speaker 1: people pulled on my arm and it hurts so bad,
- 30:34Speaker 1: but nobody knew right now. But I'm fine. I'm fine,
- 30:39Speaker 1: like I can move it. It just it hurts. But no,
- 30:43Speaker 1: I am definitely slowing down. I want to really, like
- 30:49Speaker 1: I blink my eyes. And my daughters are now starting
- 30:51Speaker 1: school again, and my oldest is going to be thirteen
- 30:54Speaker 1: in November, Like you know, I want to be I
- 30:58Speaker 1: don't want to miss anything, you know, So where I
- 31:02Speaker 1: so when I'm home, I slow it down. When I'm
- 31:05Speaker 1: out here it's already fast paced. I like to keep moving.
- 31:08Speaker 3: Yeah yeah, yeah.
- 31:09Speaker 1: And sleep. Sleep is nice. I take more naps now
- 31:11Speaker 1: than I ever have in my life.
- 31:13Speaker 4: I love it.
- 31:14Speaker 1: I sep naps are great.
- 31:18Speaker 2: What was the age of your kids, like when when
- 31:20Speaker 2: was there a moment where they realized what you do and.
- 31:22Speaker 4: Who you are.
- 31:24Speaker 1: For my oldest, I think it was honestly kindergarten because
- 31:29Speaker 1: when I would do drop off, I was one of
- 31:30Speaker 1: the only dads that would do drop off. So all
- 31:32Speaker 1: the moms are like right in the sweet spot. So
- 31:35Speaker 1: it was like they literally I kind of got swarmed
- 31:40Speaker 1: the first day of school and like all of them
- 31:42Speaker 1: were talking about having posters in their room and a
- 31:44Speaker 1: couple of them on the road, yeah, them on the ceiling.
- 31:48Speaker 1: I'm like, Okay, I.
- 31:48Speaker 7: Don't whom I but oh.
- 32:00Speaker 1: Thank you. And I'm a and I'm a huge advocate.
- 32:03Speaker 1: So I mean, everyone knows I'm the I'm the I'm
- 32:06Speaker 1: the I'm a huge I'm I'm a huge ally. Everyone
- 32:10Speaker 1: everyone knows that big time lgbt Q plus ally big time.
- 32:16Speaker 1: But yeah, it's you know they It's funny because now
- 32:20Speaker 1: now they kind of go nother in the phase where
- 32:22Speaker 1: like they love and don't love what I do because
- 32:26Speaker 1: they don't love that it takes me away from them.
- 32:28Speaker 1: And also like when they come see the show out
- 32:31Speaker 1: here or we go out to dinner back in LA
- 32:34Speaker 1: or whatever, and like people keep coming up to Daddy
- 32:37Speaker 1: that bothers them. But for example, they're coming to the
- 32:41Speaker 1: second to last show with all their little friends and
- 32:44Speaker 1: I gave them a shout out last weekend. Now they're like, Dad,
- 32:48Speaker 1: when you talked with during the show, can you give
- 32:50Speaker 1: us a shout out? So that our friends could see.
- 32:52Speaker 1: I'm like, Okay, now I see you like daddy to
- 32:56Speaker 1: be a backshet boy when it's convenient for you.
- 33:00Speaker 3: But no, Daddy's actually boys and daddy.
- 33:06Speaker 4: Make it weird.
