- 2:35Speaker 3: Over the weekend, a very long and complex story involving
- 2:39Speaker 3: a lot of different people broke. Now we've been hearing
- 2:42Speaker 3: rumors about it for some time and we aren't done.
- 2:45Speaker 3: We are not done with hearing all the revelations that
- 2:48Speaker 3: have come out about this. Aron Brad mcilhanny has been
- 2:51Speaker 3: on it from day one, as of a few others.
- 2:53Speaker 3: The Zet actually reported on a part of it two
- 2:55Speaker 3: on Saturday. But the guy who wrote the giants story
- 2:59Speaker 3: that wasblished in print and online Saturday via Ogden Newspapers
- 3:03Speaker 3: is stealing out of Adams. He was with us last
- 3:05Speaker 3: week and he joins us again. Steven, good morning, Welcome
- 3:07Speaker 3: back to the parm marstore studio. Things a lot man.
- 3:09Speaker 5: Good morning, Dave, And I gotta tell you, I'm still
- 3:12Speaker 5: exhausted from writing this story. It was probably the longest
- 3:14Speaker 5: story I've written.
- 3:16Speaker 3: So listeners may want to get a pen and paper
- 3:20Speaker 3: for this one, Stephen, because it's a very complicated and
- 3:23Speaker 3: involved story. It all has to do with the former
- 3:26Speaker 3: Pleasant power plant, a company called Omnis Fuel Technologies, Governor
- 3:31Speaker 3: Jim Justice, the State of Economic Development Authority and its
- 3:33Speaker 3: said Chris Warner, also Republican nominee for Secretary of State,
- 3:37Speaker 3: former Senate president and one time candidate for Governor Bill Cole,
- 3:41Speaker 3: the Conservative Policy Action Politic, the Conservative Policy Action Pack,
- 3:46Speaker 3: the Political Action Committee. Mark Scott's name is in there.
- 3:49Speaker 3: They now resigned a cabinet secretary for the State Department
- 3:51Speaker 3: of Administration. That's a lot of players, Steven.
- 3:54Speaker 5: Are there more We will see because ultimately this all
- 3:58Speaker 5: stems from the news that broke a couple weeks ago
- 4:01Speaker 5: about Department of Administration Secretary Mark Scott resigning. Turns out
- 4:06Speaker 5: that was because induing part, according to the Governor's office,
- 4:11Speaker 5: to his actions while being chairman of Conservative Policy Action,
- 4:15Speaker 5: a federal five to twenty seven super pac and perhaps
- 4:20Speaker 5: trying to get lobbyists to donate to this pack using
- 4:24Speaker 5: perhaps state resources do it on state time. We don't
- 4:27Speaker 5: know the specifics of that. So a lot of these
- 4:30Speaker 5: stories from Brad, from Mike Tony with the gazet mail
- 4:34Speaker 5: all kind of stemmed from that. So when I went
- 4:35Speaker 5: looking through those donations, I noticed the same thing everyone
- 4:38Speaker 5: else has noticed. That there was a fifty thousand dollars
- 4:40Speaker 5: donation from a company connected to Bill cole In, a
- 4:43Speaker 5: fifty thousand dollars donation from a company connected to the
- 4:48Speaker 5: CFO of a project at the former Pleasants power plant
- 4:51Speaker 5: called omnis Field Technologies. His name is Randall Smith.
- 4:54Speaker 3: Not to be confused with Randall Reidsmith.
- 4:56Speaker 6: Yeah, because it is a common name.
- 4:58Speaker 3: Not to not to make confused. Go ahead.
- 5:01Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 5:01Speaker 5: So when I kind of saw that, I'm like, well, all,
- 5:04Speaker 5: that's really interesting. So I decided and I've written about
- 5:07Speaker 5: the power plant project. In short, they want to basically
- 5:11Speaker 5: pump coal in one side and then burn that really
- 5:14Speaker 5: hot and take the one of the byproducts of that
- 5:17Speaker 5: being graphite, use that ship that off for manufacturing. And
- 5:20Speaker 5: then then they want to take the hydrogen and pump
- 5:23Speaker 5: it into the old coal fire pleasants power plant and
- 5:25Speaker 5: make that a hydrogen power power plant. They've yet to
- 5:27Speaker 5: actually do this, there's no been there's been no demonstration
- 5:30Speaker 5: project at scale yet to show this. But that's what
- 5:33Speaker 5: they're trying to do. But I decided to go back
- 5:36Speaker 5: and do a deep dive into how they acquired this
- 5:38Speaker 5: power plant, which I thought was pretty interesting, uh, and
- 5:42Speaker 5: then go back and look at the deal, the loan agreement,
- 5:45Speaker 5: because you me, us taxpayers are giving this project fifty
- 5:50Speaker 5: fifty million dollars.
- 5:51Speaker 6: Million difference a lot of fifties in this story.
- 5:54Speaker 5: So fifty million dollars in a in a loan, a
- 5:58Speaker 5: low interest loan for this project. And I think some
- 6:02Speaker 5: of the things that they had you said in their
- 6:04Speaker 5: loan agreement. I don't want to say their lies, but
- 6:06Speaker 5: I'm saying that they certainly exaggerated.
- 6:08Speaker 3: Perhaps the company we're talking about, the company, not the
- 6:11Speaker 3: West Virginia people, yes, the company.
- 6:13Speaker 5: And then that all goes back into the donations to
- 6:18Speaker 5: this political action committee, which ultimately benefited Chris Warner. He
- 6:23Speaker 5: got the bulk of the donations from this political action committee,
- 6:26Speaker 5: and he was also executive director of the EDA, and
- 6:30Speaker 5: interesting enough, also a member of the Public Energy Authority.
- 6:33Speaker 5: So a lot of connections together.
- 6:36Speaker 3: And so let's go back to the company. Honest, I
- 6:39Speaker 3: remember when they came to West Virginia a couple of
- 6:42Speaker 3: years ago. I first first became aware of them and
- 6:48Speaker 3: had an opportunity to actually meet some of the people
- 6:50Speaker 3: with the company at various events different the events around
- 6:53Speaker 3: Charlestony came and they entertained and talked to a lot
- 6:56Speaker 3: of the which is not uncommon. Please don't think I'm
- 6:59Speaker 3: saying that they did anything wrong. And whining and dining,
- 7:04Speaker 3: you know, elected officials, that's just what you do and
- 7:07Speaker 3: vice versa to try to get them here. And I
- 7:08Speaker 3: completely understand that. And so they were up in like
- 7:12Speaker 3: up in your neck of the woods for a while.
- 7:14Speaker 3: They also were doing looking at some projects in extreme
- 7:17Speaker 3: southern West Virginia and the Bluefield Princeton area. But there's
- 7:20Speaker 3: telling a lot, a lot of questions.
- 7:22Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 7:22Speaker 5: I mean they've got three different real projects going on
- 7:25Speaker 5: to the state. On this Building Technologies, which is trying
- 7:27Speaker 5: to build a proprietary basically modular construction for small building,
- 7:34Speaker 5: small houses and that sort of thing. It's based out
- 7:37Speaker 5: of Bluefield. I think it's where they have a manufacturing plant.
- 7:40Speaker 5: They haven't really gotten started yet. They've blamed a lot
- 7:43Speaker 5: of things for that supply chain, all sorts of issues,
- 7:46Speaker 5: but they haven't got started for that. And then the
- 7:47Speaker 5: other one is a complicated name, but let's just say
- 7:50Speaker 5: they want to take rare earth minerals and try to
- 7:54Speaker 5: get those out of coal empowerments. They haven't been able
- 7:57Speaker 5: to acquire any land. Yeah, but those two projects at
- 7:59Speaker 5: least don't have any state money. The Omnius Fuel Technologies
- 8:03Speaker 5: project at Pleasant's Power goes by several different names, but
- 8:08Speaker 5: we'll stick with that one for now. That's the only
- 8:10Speaker 5: one that has a state funded, taxpayer funded low interest loan,
- 8:17Speaker 5: which I think is what makes it interesting. So I
- 8:19Speaker 5: think it's fair game that kind of quiz this, and
- 8:21Speaker 5: it's a project I've written positively about. Sure, Yeah, because
- 8:24Speaker 5: if they could do what they want to do up there,
- 8:27Speaker 5: it could be game changing. It could be really, really great.
- 8:30Speaker 5: And of course they acquired this power plant that was
- 8:34Speaker 5: basically it was shut down. They were on the verge
- 8:38Speaker 5: of being able to the prior company and owned that
- 8:40Speaker 5: ETEM was going to demolish that power plant. That's what
- 8:43Speaker 5: they were going to do. The only thing that stopped
- 8:45Speaker 5: them from doing that was a bill that was passed
- 8:47Speaker 5: by the legislature in twenty twenty three that required any
- 8:51Speaker 5: demolition or decommission of a power plant to go through
- 8:53Speaker 5: the Public Energy Authority, and that forced the sale of
- 8:57Speaker 5: that plant ultimately to Omnis.
- 9:00Speaker 6: Just how they acquired it.
- 9:01Speaker 3: But Dave Allen showing five eighty Live is brought to
- 9:04Speaker 3: part by Morgan and Morgan, America's largest injury law firm. Okay,
- 9:07Speaker 3: so have you been able since the story first? Okay,
- 9:10Speaker 3: let me back up way ahead of myself here. So
- 9:13Speaker 3: what seems to be in your mind the question and
- 9:16Speaker 3: the minds of you and other members of the media
- 9:18Speaker 3: that have questions. What seems to be the rub here?
- 9:20Speaker 3: Steven Well?
- 9:22Speaker 5: I mean, I think you got some issues with the
- 9:24Speaker 5: Senate built because one of the people that lobbied for
- 9:26Speaker 5: that bill behind the scenes is former Senate President Bill Cole,
- 9:30Speaker 5: former Mercer County Republican lawmaker who lobbied for that bill.
- 9:35Speaker 5: But he's also an investor in the Omnus companies, particularly
- 9:39Speaker 5: this project of Pleasant's Power, the Omnis Building Technologies project,
- 9:43Speaker 5: so he has a financial stake in the process. Being
- 9:45Speaker 5: a former he's not a registered lobbyist, but as a
- 9:48Speaker 5: former Senate president, he has a great deal of access
- 9:51Speaker 5: to lawmakers that your typical lobbyist wouldn't have. And in
- 9:54Speaker 5: some cases, this is kind of a slam dunk bill
- 9:57Speaker 5: if it has the chance of saving power plants down
- 9:59Speaker 5: the role. We're down the road. You and I both
- 10:02Speaker 5: know there's not going to be any lawmakers that posed
- 10:05Speaker 5: that and beyond.
- 10:05Speaker 6: That bill passed pretty easily at the House.
- 10:08Speaker 5: In the Senate in twenty twenty three. But their CEO,
- 10:11Speaker 5: the company CEO, I'm the CEO, Simon Hodson, is on
- 10:14Speaker 5: the record at a Public Energy Authority meeting in September
- 10:18Speaker 5: twenty twenty three saying that if they didn't have that bill,
- 10:21Speaker 5: they wouldn't have been able to buy this power plant
- 10:22Speaker 5: because the prior companies et EM and Energy Harbor didn't
- 10:27Speaker 5: want to sell it, or at least didn't want to
- 10:29Speaker 5: sell it to them because at the time, if he recalled,
- 10:33Speaker 5: Appalatric Power and Wheeling Power were even looking into possibility
- 10:36Speaker 5: of buying that plant. But without that Bill, Senate Bill
- 10:40Speaker 5: six ZH nine, Omnis isn't able to buy the power plant,
- 10:43Speaker 5: which we don't even know how much they actually bought
- 10:45Speaker 5: it for. That's not ever been disclosed that I'm aware of.
- 10:48Speaker 5: And Senate President, former Senate President Bill Cole was one
- 10:51Speaker 5: of the big.
- 10:51Speaker 6: Pushers of that.
- 10:52Speaker 5: He was also very active behind the scenes with those
- 10:57Speaker 5: meetings with the Public Energy Authority and with the EDA,
- 11:00Speaker 5: intending the emergency meeting back in November twenty twenty three
- 11:04Speaker 5: to approve that loan.
- 11:05Speaker 3: But there's no Stephen I'm gonna, I mean, there is
- 11:09Speaker 3: no smoking gun necessarily for somebody who is a concerned citizen,
- 11:14Speaker 3: concerned business person, I mean nobody. I don't know Bill
- 11:17Speaker 3: Cole that well. I know of him. I've been in
- 11:20Speaker 3: meetings with him, you know, in the past and so
- 11:22Speaker 3: on and so forth.
- 11:23Speaker 6: I worked for him.
- 11:24Speaker 3: I would oh, I didn't know that. I would say,
- 11:26Speaker 3: no one would ever question Bill Cole's love for West Virginia.
- 11:29Speaker 3: And this is not uncommon for people that are outside
- 11:32Speaker 3: of politics that are successful business people to get in
- 11:35Speaker 3: and say hey, we need this in our home count
- 11:37Speaker 3: or we need this in our state or whatever. So
- 11:39Speaker 3: that's not necessarily in common, and I don't think it
- 11:43Speaker 3: doesn't necessarily prove point any wrongdoing.
- 11:45Speaker 6: No it doesn't.
- 11:46Speaker 5: And I talked to Bill Cole about that for my story,
- 11:49Speaker 5: and he certainly pushed back. He said, you know, he
- 11:51Speaker 5: didn't do this for a financial self interest. He did
- 11:53Speaker 5: this because he wanted to save a power plant, save
- 11:55Speaker 5: one hundred and sixty jobs that would have been lost otherwise.
- 11:58Speaker 5: And I have no doubt that he believes that. But
- 12:02Speaker 5: when you go into the pack donations, see how much
- 12:06Speaker 5: he gave. Fifty thousand dollars is a big chunk of money.
- 12:09Speaker 5: Now he donates to everybody, I mean, that's he donates
- 12:12Speaker 5: to Republican candidates. That's not uncommon. But throwing fifty thousand
- 12:16Speaker 5: dollars into a pack that later endorses and then gives
- 12:19Speaker 5: almost entirely the vast majority of its donations into either
- 12:23Speaker 5: supporting EDA director Chris Warner for Republican Secretary of State
- 12:29Speaker 5: or opposing his opponents, particularly Democrat turned Republican former lawmaker
- 12:34Speaker 5: Doug scaff that that's a big chunk of money, and
- 12:37Speaker 5: the fact that it was seated in part by two
- 12:40Speaker 5: people involved with OMNIS. I think that warrants further Screwtinay.
- 12:45Speaker 3: You said he met do Auctorbilt call. Have you talked
- 12:47Speaker 3: to anybody, let's start with Omnis. Have you talked to
- 12:49Speaker 3: anybody from Omnous about this?
- 12:51Speaker 6: Yeah?
- 12:51Speaker 5: They had contracted with a crisis communications firm.
- 12:55Speaker 3: Which is always not a good thing when they say
- 12:57Speaker 3: that we've contracted with a crisis communications Yeah.
- 13:01Speaker 5: Yeah, last Thursday. They reached out to me Friday afternoon.
- 13:06Speaker 5: That was pretty late in regards to my deadline, but
- 13:09Speaker 5: I made accommodations form. I provided them a list of
- 13:11Speaker 5: questions to get me answers to, and they did, and
- 13:15Speaker 5: they pushed back on some of the stuff, particularly on
- 13:19Speaker 5: the contract stuff and my story. I talked about the
- 13:21Speaker 5: fact that according to the loan agreement, they're supposed to
- 13:24Speaker 5: be buying property next door to the plant where they
- 13:28Speaker 5: share basically a border with a company called Sinesco used
- 13:31Speaker 5: to be called Software. They're trying to buy property there
- 13:34Speaker 5: so they could put their demonstration projects on. To date,
- 13:37Speaker 5: that hasn't happened. They were supposed to have that locked
- 13:39Speaker 5: down by April of this year according to the loan agreement.
- 13:45Speaker 5: They haven't been able to do that yet, So is
- 13:48Speaker 5: that requirement of the loan agreement. I think that's something
- 13:51Speaker 5: that's worth asking. The other issue, too, is the fact
- 13:55Speaker 5: that they say that they applied for a Department of
- 13:57Speaker 5: Energy Title seventeen Clean Energy Financing loan for this project. Well,
- 14:03Speaker 5: there's a question as to whether they've actually applied for
- 14:05Speaker 5: it or whether they're just talking to DOE officials. Because
- 14:09Speaker 5: that loan program you don't apply for. They invite you
- 14:12Speaker 5: to apply. So it's not like you go pull like
- 14:15Speaker 5: a piece of paper out of a thing, sign it,
- 14:17Speaker 5: turn it in done. They have to invite you, and
- 14:20Speaker 5: you have to meet a lot of criteria in order
- 14:22Speaker 5: to be invited to apply. Now they're parting their language
- 14:25Speaker 5: by saying, well, we're in the application process. Well what
- 14:27Speaker 5: does that mean? My question is did they apply at
- 14:31Speaker 5: the time that they did their loan agreement to this project.
- 14:35Speaker 5: DOE won't confirm because they don't do that sort of thing,
- 14:38Speaker 5: But I think it's important to know because the state
- 14:40Speaker 5: might not have given them that loan if they If
- 14:43Speaker 5: they'd said that they hadn't applied yet, or maybe they
- 14:46Speaker 5: would have got it, but you know, they were still
- 14:48Speaker 5: saying we're in the process.
- 14:49Speaker 3: I don't know, And I will state that if anyone
- 14:53Speaker 3: and I know this goes for Steve and anybody else,
- 14:56Speaker 3: but on specifically on my show, that if there is
- 14:58Speaker 3: anyone that's any part of the story that would love
- 15:00Speaker 3: to come on. You know, I have an open door
- 15:01Speaker 3: policy in my studio here. I've never turned down a
- 15:04Speaker 3: single person that's ever asked for time on the show.
- 15:06Speaker 3: So if any of them would like to come on
- 15:08Speaker 3: and further explain exactly or if we'll get anything wrong,
- 15:12Speaker 3: feel free to feel free to contact me and I'll
- 15:16Speaker 3: get you on the show. The Dave Allen Show on

- 17:55Speaker 3: talking to Stephen and Allen Adams with a story that
- 17:57Speaker 3: broke via Ogden newspapers, their websites or social media's. And
- 18:01Speaker 3: I just guess actually in the hard news hard newspaper
- 18:04Speaker 3: somewhere as well, about this whole omnous thing. And it's
- 18:07Speaker 3: just very very complicated, as Stephen to stick around for
- 18:11Speaker 3: at least part of another segment. How did this whole story,
- 18:14Speaker 3: Stephen come to light in the first place? Now, I know,
- 18:16Speaker 3: I know the Wall Street Journal did a piece a
- 18:18Speaker 3: month or so ago, and they were on it early,
- 18:21Speaker 3: but that was really more of a story about Omnus
- 18:25Speaker 3: and some of the claims that they had made to
- 18:28Speaker 3: West Virginia, and it was actually part of a much
- 18:30Speaker 3: bigger story, But it didn't really get quite as involved.
- 18:34Speaker 3: Because it's a national publication, they're not going to get
- 18:37Speaker 3: quite as involved in the West Virginia nuances as what
- 18:40Speaker 3: media sources here are. But how did the whole thing
- 18:44Speaker 3: come to light?
- 18:45Speaker 6: Oh?
- 18:45Speaker 5: For sure, Yeah, the Wall Street Journal story was definitely
- 18:48Speaker 5: the catalyst. I think for a lot of these things.
- 18:51Speaker 11: Now.
- 18:51Speaker 5: I've written in some of my stories about some of
- 18:53Speaker 5: the criticisms of the project and whether it is able
- 18:57Speaker 5: to do what it says it's going to do. Again,
- 19:00Speaker 5: coal really hot, take graphite out one end, take hydrogen
- 19:03Speaker 5: over to the power plant, power to power plant. There's
- 19:06Speaker 5: people that think that that is probably.
- 19:10Speaker 6: Hard to do. They haven't seen it tested at scale.
- 19:13Speaker 6: The company is.
- 19:15Speaker 5: I guess it's supposed to be tested at scale either
- 19:18Speaker 5: this week or sometime this month. If they can prove
- 19:21Speaker 5: what their technology can do. I think it's a good thing.
- 19:24Speaker 5: I think it's a it's a wonderful thing, and we'll
- 19:27Speaker 5: see if they can do it. But there are some
- 19:29Speaker 5: things that the Wall Street Journal story kind of missed
- 19:31Speaker 5: just from not being here, and at the same time,
- 19:35Speaker 5: having written about this project pretty much as soon as
- 19:37Speaker 5: I heard the whispers over a year ago that this
- 19:40Speaker 5: was possibility, you know, writing all those stories. When you're
- 19:44Speaker 5: down in the forest, you don't see the forest for
- 19:47Speaker 5: the trees. So the Wall Street Journal story store gave
- 19:50Speaker 5: me an opportunity to kind of take a step back
- 19:52Speaker 5: and look at the whole landscape. And that's how I
- 19:56Speaker 5: kind of like, well, wait, it's kind of interesting what
- 19:58Speaker 5: happened with Senate Bill six so nine? What's going on
- 20:01Speaker 5: with the loan agreement? Or are they meeting their loan
- 20:03Speaker 5: agreement requirements? And again I had stumbled upon some of
- 20:08Speaker 5: this stuff just looking into conservative policy action, like oh
- 20:11Speaker 5: wait a minute, that's all.
- 20:13Speaker 3: It all kind of comes together, Yeah, in a weird,
- 20:17Speaker 3: convoluted kind of way. A leads to be, which leads
- 20:19Speaker 3: to C.
- 20:20Speaker 5: That's exactly right. So it is a complicated story. I'd
- 20:23Speaker 5: encourage you to read it. Probably the best place to
- 20:25Speaker 5: find that it's the partnerspurg News and Sentinel, so you
- 20:28Speaker 5: can find it online there. But it is a long,
- 20:31Speaker 5: complicated story, and there's gonna be more stories really spinning
- 20:35Speaker 5: off of the Conservative Policy Action angle list as well.
- 20:39Speaker 5: I mean, there's been some interesting donations from a company
- 20:41Speaker 5: called Safeco, which is doing the remediation over its century
- 20:45Speaker 5: aluminum in regards to the Berkshire Hathaway project.
- 20:49Speaker 6: Going on over there.
- 20:50Speaker 5: Well, the EEDA has paid about twelve million dollars for
- 20:54Speaker 5: Safeco to be able to do these projects. Well, Safeco,
- 20:58Speaker 5: the company has donated two fifty thousand dollars donations. It's
- 21:01Speaker 5: a total one hundred thousand dollars to Conservative Policy Action.
- 21:06Speaker 5: I mean, there needs to be some kind of answers
- 21:08Speaker 5: about that because that's interesting. So I think there's gonna
- 21:11Speaker 5: be more stuff come out of these stories, for sure,
- 21:17Speaker 5: as we learn more about the pack, as we learn
- 21:18Speaker 5: more about some of these companies.
- 21:20Speaker 12: M M.
- 21:21Speaker 3: It's it's as I said, as I said from the
- 21:24Speaker 3: get go, it is a very very complicated and complex story.
- 21:27Speaker 3: A matter of fact, somebody texted the show and said,
- 21:29Speaker 3: I've been following this story and I'm still having a
- 21:31Speaker 3: hard time with it. You know, when they're we're trying
- 21:33Speaker 3: to so uh So, I know you and others are
- 21:36Speaker 3: going to be continued to talk about the story, and
- 21:38Speaker 3: I also know and I don't want to steal Hoppies thunder,
- 21:41Speaker 3: but I do think it kind of leads me to
- 21:42Speaker 3: a point I'm gonna get into. After you leave, are
- 21:46Speaker 3: you still are you still allowed to ask the governor questions?
- 21:49Speaker 3: Or are you on the brad band list too?
- 21:52Speaker 4: Well?
- 21:52Speaker 5: I'm still on the on the good list for now,
- 21:56Speaker 5: And I say for now because who knows, because I mean,
- 21:58Speaker 5: if we can't ask to go in their questions about
- 22:01Speaker 5: his personal finances, I mean after the weekend that he
- 22:03Speaker 5: had last week, especially ending with the possible auction of
- 22:07Speaker 5: the Greenbrier at the end of the month, which I
- 22:09Speaker 5: think we all know is a judge will probably step
- 22:12Speaker 5: in and that will get stayed and all that sort
- 22:13Speaker 5: of stuff and they'll get fog in court. But we
- 22:16Speaker 5: do need answers to those questions. They are valid questions
- 22:18Speaker 5: to ask, and he can't shy away from him. And
- 22:21Speaker 5: if he thinks he's going to shy away from us, boy,
- 22:23Speaker 5: he's going to be in for a world to hurt
- 22:25Speaker 5: if he gets to DC and has to deal with
- 22:28Speaker 5: the Washington Press Court, which are going to be waiting
- 22:30Speaker 5: for him at the chamber. They're gonna be waiting for
- 22:32Speaker 5: him to the elevators, and they're going to be waiting
- 22:33Speaker 5: for him at the trams to take you back to
- 22:35Speaker 5: the Senate office.
- 22:36Speaker 3: And they got a lot more bodies than what Ogden
- 22:39Speaker 3: or Metro News or the Gaze mail. They got a
- 22:40Speaker 3: lot more bodies they can put out there.
- 22:42Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 22:42Speaker 5: No, he needs to be able to answer questions about that.
- 22:44Speaker 5: They're valid questions as long as most of your businesses
- 22:47Speaker 5: aren't in blind trusts. And you can't just band reporters
- 22:50Speaker 5: because you don't want those, you know, questions out there.
- 22:55Speaker 6: It is what it is.
- 22:56Speaker 5: I mean, you shouldn't shy away from it. And frankly,
- 22:59Speaker 5: Brad should not be bad Brad.
- 23:00Speaker 3: Should be reading Team Brad, Team Brad. Yeah, free Brad,
- 23:03Speaker 3: Free Brad, Ryan. Can we get some T shirts or
- 23:06Speaker 3: your hashtag thing kind of going free Brad? We want
- 23:08Speaker 3: we want Brad freed. Actually, I had a text here
- 23:12Speaker 3: said I'm taking back my comment about the strong media
- 23:16Speaker 3: not standing together against Jim Justice. Metro News Gazette and
- 23:20Speaker 3: Steve and Allen Adams are on the case. They're upholding
- 23:22Speaker 3: the tradition of the fourth of State, stay together and
- 23:25Speaker 3: demand in person press conferences with Justice and his administration.
- 23:28Speaker 5: Yeah, no, I think we should have him. I'll be honest.
- 23:31Speaker 5: You know, you always want your government officials to talk.
- 23:35Speaker 5: But we don't need weekly briefings. We don't need weekly
- 23:38Speaker 5: press conferences. But if you're going to have press conferences
- 23:41Speaker 5: and you're going to talk to the press, you should
- 23:43Speaker 5: talk to the press. And that should be an open
- 23:45Speaker 5: environment where you can take follow up questions. Yeah, you
- 23:48Speaker 5: can limit the time and that sort of thing. That's
- 23:50Speaker 5: not uncommon, but that's where it used to be. That
- 23:52Speaker 5: was the way it was done before COVID. And I
- 23:55Speaker 5: hate to tell the governor, but if you look at
- 23:56Speaker 5: the YouTube views for just regular people watching these briefings
- 24:00Speaker 5: watching them, so, I don't know what good they're getting
- 24:02Speaker 5: out of them other than they're making him feel good.
- 24:05Speaker 3: Well, and I think this is, in my opinion though,
- 24:08Speaker 3: this is a symptom of a much larger problem because
- 24:11Speaker 3: when was the last time and I'm not trying to
- 24:12Speaker 3: play what about is them? But when was the last
- 24:15Speaker 3: time that you saw President Biden doing an actual press conference?
- 24:20Speaker 3: When was the last time you saw Donald Trump, you know,
- 24:22Speaker 3: doing an actual press conference, you know, and I mean
- 24:26Speaker 3: a traditional I don't know what the questions are going
- 24:29Speaker 3: to be fire away And in West Virginia, many governors,
- 24:33Speaker 3: Republican and Democrat did it. As president, many presidents Republican
- 24:36Speaker 3: and Democrat did it, from Obama to Clinton to Bush, Reagan.
- 24:39Speaker 3: I mean they they did this. We kind of gotten
- 24:41Speaker 3: into this area right now where and I don't know
- 24:44Speaker 3: if it's you know, we have we have Trump who
- 24:47Speaker 3: who I guess coined the term fake news, and now
- 24:50Speaker 3: we've almost turned the media and these governmental officials almost
- 24:57Speaker 3: into adversaries, which is not the way it's supposed to
- 24:59Speaker 3: be because everybody has just got a job to do.
- 25:03Speaker 3: And I would urge people to go back and read
- 25:05Speaker 3: Hoppies commentary today, which I think you even reached it.
- 25:09Speaker 6: It was very very good.
- 25:10Speaker 3: Commentary about this whole thing. And I'll let you give
- 25:13Speaker 3: you thirty second, let you close.
- 25:14Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 25:15Speaker 5: Absolutely, it's one of those things where, yeah, there's a
- 25:19Speaker 5: push and a shove that comes between the press and
- 25:21Speaker 5: elected officials.
- 25:22Speaker 6: That's just the way it is.
- 25:24Speaker 5: But I can tell you in my case, and I
- 25:26Speaker 5: don't want to speak for Brad, but I feel it's
- 25:28Speaker 5: the same way we go where the stories go, we
- 25:30Speaker 5: go where the information goes, and Frankly, you don't talk
- 25:33Speaker 5: to us, then we have what we have. Your obligation
- 25:37Speaker 5: should be to talk to us. And if we're wrong
- 25:40Speaker 5: or if we're going the wrong direction, you can help
- 25:42Speaker 5: us get there. But we don't get there if you
- 25:43Speaker 5: don't talk to us.

- 28:28Speaker 3: Charleston Mayor Amy Good when coming up here momentarily. But
- 28:30Speaker 3: before I get to that, I do want to give
- 28:32Speaker 3: my two cents on the press. And you know you're
- 28:36Speaker 3: listening to an old guy when he uses the term press.
- 28:39Speaker 3: You can call it press, you call it media, whatever
- 28:41Speaker 3: you want to call it. The people like us who
- 28:44Speaker 3: help bring you the info, you know, whether it's TV
- 28:49Speaker 3: station's papers, online stuff, whatever. And I, like many of you,
- 28:53Speaker 3: read Phil Cabor's column weekly in the Exact Mail and now,
- 28:56Speaker 3: because I'm an old school that actually means I actually
- 29:00Speaker 3: read them with my Saturday morning cup of coffee around
- 29:05Speaker 3: six thirty or so each week. Because I'm that guy.
- 29:09Speaker 3: Let me just say this, I have never once spoken
- 29:13Speaker 3: to Phil Kabler, really haven't been around him. Maybe a
- 29:17Speaker 3: time or two, couple of different media events or whatever.
- 29:19Speaker 3: And when I used to work in the Capitol, I
- 29:21Speaker 3: would see him in the cafeteria or whatever. So generally speaking,
- 29:24Speaker 3: generally speaking with all due respect, I'm not always a
- 29:27Speaker 3: big fan of his work. Nothing personal. Like I said,
- 29:30Speaker 3: I don't even know the guy, but I do think
- 29:34Speaker 3: he hit the nail on the head with his Saturday
- 29:36Speaker 3: column about the governor and the governor's apparent disdain for
- 29:41Speaker 3: any news outlet that doesn't give him the most glowing
- 29:45Speaker 3: of coverage available. You know, if the governor has been
- 29:47Speaker 3: on this show many times in the past, he's always
- 29:49Speaker 3: welcome to come on anytime he likes. But I did
- 29:52Speaker 3: like what Kabler had to say on Saturday when talking
- 29:57Speaker 3: about Governor Justice. He was referring to the ongoing financial
- 30:01Speaker 3: problems with the governor and his family company, and how
- 30:03Speaker 3: Governor Justice got very irritated, as I said at our
- 30:06Speaker 3: own Brad mclhanuney hashtag free Brad because Brad asked him
- 30:10Speaker 3: specifically about some of those latest issues. So the governor
- 30:14Speaker 3: simply quit allowing Brad to question him period. He's been
- 30:18Speaker 3: cut off, which is very unfortunate because Brad is a
- 30:23Speaker 3: is a class act. He is extremely good at his job,
- 30:27Speaker 3: very fair in my opinion, very thorough, and just an
- 30:30Speaker 3: all around good dude. And we are lucky to have
- 30:34Speaker 3: Brad here to be honest. But getting back to Kabler,
- 30:39Speaker 3: he was talking about the governor's so called press events
- 30:42Speaker 3: or whatever he calls him. He started as Steve and
- 30:46Speaker 3: I talked about during COVID, and the Governor used the
- 30:49Speaker 3: time to update the public as to what was, you know,
- 30:52Speaker 3: to what was happening fair enough, But here we are.
- 30:55Speaker 3: That was twenty twenty and now we're in twenty twenty
- 30:57Speaker 3: four and we're still using the streaming as his way
- 31:00Speaker 3: to communicate with the press and ultimately to the public.
- 31:06Speaker 3: And Phil Kabler suggested that the press just simply stop
- 31:13Speaker 3: attending them, just basically boycott. And as I said, I
- 31:18Speaker 3: have always had a good relationship with the Governor's been
- 31:21Speaker 3: on this show many many times in staff. But as
- 31:26Speaker 3: Steven alluded to, if he thinks the media in West
- 31:29Speaker 3: Virginia is hard on him, how is he going to
- 31:33Speaker 3: handle the constant scrutiny coming from the national and in
- 31:38Speaker 3: many cases international media if he is elected to the
- 31:43Speaker 3: US Senate. West Virginia media is a walk in the
- 31:50Speaker 3: proverbial park compared to what he is going to face
- 31:56Speaker 3: when he is elected to the Senate, which I am
- 32:00Speaker 3: pretty confident that he will be. I mean, Governor, It's
- 32:07Speaker 3: not going to get any easier in Washington. In fact,
- 32:12Speaker 3: it's going to get As I said, it comes down
- 32:14Speaker 3: to numbers. You know, not a whole lot of us
- 32:16Speaker 3: in the media in West Virginia. There's a whole heck
- 32:19Speaker 3: of a lot more in Washington and that are going
- 32:23Speaker 3: to be watching literally every step that he or anybody not.
- 32:27Speaker 3: I'm just picking on the governor that anybody makes. So
- 32:31Speaker 3: again I will say I have been not been able

- 37:12Speaker 3: are you man?
- 37:13Speaker 7: I am fabulous.
- 37:13Speaker 3: I'm going to ask you something. Let's start with this.
- 37:16Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 37:16Speaker 9: Right.
- 37:17Speaker 3: As someone who is a former member of the Disgusting Press,
- 37:20Speaker 3: corps and.
- 37:21Speaker 7: The media and my degree degrees.
- 37:24Speaker 3: Yeah, you just sign up for all this. You just
- 37:26Speaker 3: somehow became mayor. So when you hear the frustrations that
- 37:33Speaker 3: are and this is not just a Jim Justice West
- 37:36Speaker 3: Virginia thing, let's go nationwide. When you hear the frustrations
- 37:39Speaker 3: of the media, Number one, they're all lumped into media
- 37:43Speaker 3: whatever that means. Now, because there's ten million different kinds media.
- 37:47Speaker 3: It's non traditional, non traditional, a lot of that along
- 37:50Speaker 3: with the with the traditional media. I mean, I would
- 37:53Speaker 3: think that as somebody who's got a background in that
- 37:55Speaker 3: you and Danny is another one who's spent some time
- 37:57Speaker 3: on both sides of the fence, you'd have a little
- 38:00Speaker 3: bit of a different perspective. Yeah, at least you try
- 38:02Speaker 3: to understand it.
- 38:03Speaker 6: Yeah, for sure.
- 38:04Speaker 7: So I think two things. I was listening to you
- 38:06Speaker 7: in the green room talk about this, and I get it.
- 38:09Speaker 7: That's what I studied, that's what I did for more
- 38:12Speaker 7: than a decade, And being on both sides of it,
- 38:14Speaker 7: I can appreciate you should always be asked questions, right,
- 38:19Speaker 7: you should open yourself to phone calls and texts and
- 38:23Speaker 7: follow up questions. Sometimes the media they don't like the
- 38:26Speaker 7: answer you give or you say, I'm not going to
- 38:29Speaker 7: discuss that. By the way, that's also an answer. It
- 38:32Speaker 7: may not be the answer you want, but it is
- 38:35Speaker 7: the answer that is given. I many times in the
- 38:37Speaker 7: past will answer the question that's not something I can
- 38:40Speaker 7: discuss because ab and sometimes yeah, you may not like
- 38:43Speaker 7: that answer, but it's an answer. And so I do
- 38:46Speaker 7: think that there. I think that all public officials should
- 38:50Speaker 7: hold themselves accountable and should absolutely answer the questions. But
- 38:53Speaker 7: sometimes the question or sometimes the answers that public officials
- 38:57Speaker 7: give aren't what you want, and that so it has
- 39:00Speaker 7: to be a little bit of a of a give
- 39:02Speaker 7: and take. But absolutely you should you should answer those.
- 39:07Speaker 7: You know, we'll answer a lot of questions.
- 39:09Speaker 3: But it's yeah, well, and that's the reason I brought
- 39:11Speaker 3: it up to you and we'll move on, is because
- 39:12Speaker 3: I knew you would have a different perspective.
- 39:14Speaker 7: Yeah, I mean, I really can see it from both sides.
- 39:16Speaker 7: I really can. And by the way, sometimes as public officials,
- 39:20Speaker 7: I'll go ahead and say this, sometimes I want to
- 39:23Speaker 7: explain more, describe more, but I can't, and for good
- 39:27Speaker 7: reason as well, mainly around personnel issues, right, but or
- 39:33Speaker 7: lawsuits that had you know that kind of thing. But
- 39:36Speaker 7: for the most part, you know, we try to be open, honest, engaged.
- 39:39Speaker 7: And you know, somebody said to me, oh, you have
- 39:42Speaker 7: a comms person in your administration. We have a comms
- 39:44Speaker 7: person for a reason, not to shield my calls, not
- 39:47Speaker 7: to protect me from you know, quote the media, y'all
- 39:50Speaker 7: have my cell phone. By the way, there's I don't
- 39:52Speaker 7: know any media member, any member of the media doesn't
- 39:55Speaker 7: have my personal cell phone. But anyways, it is because
- 39:58Speaker 7: good communication. It is constant communication, and from a municipality,
- 40:02Speaker 7: it's about mainly I'm shutting down this road or this
- 40:05Speaker 7: emergency route has happened, or because I do think James
- 40:09Speaker 7: Hoyer taught me this many many years ago, Communication or
- 40:14Speaker 7: lack thereof, is what wins or loses wars.
- 40:17Speaker 5: Right.
- 40:17Speaker 7: It's not you have better artillery, you're faster, you're stronger,
- 40:20Speaker 7: you're bigger, you're smarter. It's about communication and constant communication
- 40:23Speaker 7: and even communication. And I learned this with a water
- 40:27Speaker 7: crisis many years ago when I was communication's director for
- 40:29Speaker 7: Governor Or Ray Tomlin. Sometimes the answer I'm not sure,
- 40:34Speaker 7: but I'm gonna have to get back to you or
- 40:35Speaker 7: your host a press conference and say we don't have
- 40:37Speaker 7: all the answers right now, but we wanted to make
- 40:39Speaker 7: ourselves available to you. This is the information we have.
- 40:42Speaker 7: That is always a good thing to do, even if
- 40:45Speaker 7: the answer is I don't.
- 40:46Speaker 3: Know, or I'll have to get back something we said
- 40:48Speaker 3: for honesty.
- 40:49Speaker 7: Yeah, I mean just give it up right. You can't know.
- 40:51Speaker 7: That is the other problem. People expect Alexuit officials to
- 40:54Speaker 7: know every single answer about every single thing right on
- 40:57Speaker 7: the mark. We know a little bit about a lot,
- 41:02Speaker 7: and that includes senators, governors, you know, congressman, mayors, city
- 41:06Speaker 7: council members, and so we try to school ourselves and
- 41:09Speaker 7: we try to surround ourselves with teams who are engaged
- 41:12Speaker 7: and involved and know a lot. But there are some
- 41:14Speaker 7: some things you just go hold on, I got to
- 41:17Speaker 7: answer out but.

- 41:38Speaker 3: Oh gosh, sorry, I'm sorry, Well I'm about America.
- 41:42Speaker 2: No, no, no.
- 41:43Speaker 7: If you were watching the Olympics, you saw yesterday Kristin Faulkner.
- 41:48Speaker 7: Kristin Faulkner, who's originally from Alaska, you saw her parents
- 41:52Speaker 7: standing there right in the shadow of the Eiffel Tower
- 41:57Speaker 7: as she won in the US Women's road race. By
- 42:02Speaker 7: the way, in May. If you were downtown Charleston, you
- 42:06Speaker 7: saw her win on Charleston's Road. She trained here, she
- 42:10Speaker 7: raised here, and so it was so incredibly cool and
- 42:14Speaker 7: fun to watch that happen over the weekend. And what
- 42:19Speaker 7: USA Cycling, you know, not only brought for our enthusiasm
- 42:22Speaker 7: here in Charleston, but there were more people watching intently
- 42:27Speaker 7: on you know, a couple of you know, Taylor nib
- 42:30Speaker 7: who's an exceptional cyclist, they watched her race, and Brandon
- 42:35Speaker 7: McNulty and Kristin Faulkner. We had people that we now
- 42:39Speaker 7: have I want to say, take ownership, but there ares
- 42:41Speaker 7: there are people they've raised our road.
- 42:45Speaker 3: I got some text here before you, and then we'll
- 42:47Speaker 3: go to break and I got a couple of other
- 42:48Speaker 3: things I want to get to one's Texas Dave. Could
- 42:50Speaker 3: you please ask a mayor for an update on the
- 42:51Speaker 3: splash pad at Magic Island.
- 42:53Speaker 7: Yes, so I can give you a short answer and
- 42:57Speaker 7: then I'll give you a long answer. We have our
- 42:59Speaker 7: service provider here working on it. Actually, I think they're
- 43:02Speaker 7: even here today. We've had to replace the whole motherboard
- 43:06Speaker 7: of it, right, and a few bad switches. I'll certainly
- 43:10Speaker 7: have a better update later on the day and then
- 43:12Speaker 7: tomorrow morning. But I'll just go ahead and say this.
- 43:15Speaker 7: I love Magic Island, and I certainly love the splash pad,
- 43:17Speaker 7: but when you build a splash pad, and we did
- 43:20Speaker 7: more than a decade plus ago, you know, below floodplain level,
- 43:25Speaker 7: it does get gucked up. It does become a problem.
- 43:29Speaker 7: The pieces in the parts take a larger wear and
- 43:33Speaker 7: tear on that system, and so it is a challenge.
- 43:37Speaker 7: So I apologize to the texture. We're working on it
- 43:41Speaker 7: as fast as we can. But the other thing is
- 43:43Speaker 7: we got to ship away for parts, and anybody who's
- 43:45Speaker 7: in construction or maintenance knows it's hard to get equipment. Still,
- 43:51Speaker 7: it's still hard.
- 43:53Speaker 3: Takes sence. So for the mayor, how can we get
- 43:55Speaker 3: an Island. On Daverton and Canall Turnpike, left turners cut
- 43:59Speaker 3: across to cut the corner. I've almost been hit by
- 44:02Speaker 3: corner cutters on Daverton. Daverton, Yeah, and almost hit a
- 44:05Speaker 3: few of the corner cutters. Some even stop on can
- 44:08Speaker 3: All Turnpike and want to surrender their right of way
- 44:11Speaker 3: even at the point if you don't, if you don't
- 44:13Speaker 3: go to cut the corner to go the wrong way
- 44:16Speaker 3: on Dalverton, I'm awaiting the heads. I'm a waiting the
- 44:20Speaker 3: head head on Yeah, from those and hope I'm not
- 44:23Speaker 3: the one coming down the hill. How do we get
- 44:25Speaker 3: an island for safety?
- 44:26Speaker 7: Well, let me let me first reach out to our
- 44:30Speaker 7: traffic engineer, Matt Hartline and have him troubleshoot that area
- 44:33Speaker 7: because I'm I think I understand that text, but I'm
- 44:36Speaker 7: gonna ask you to send it to me. Oh well,
- 44:38Speaker 7: so I can troubleshoot with him.

- 47:00Speaker 7: Yeah, it was really great. Mother Nature she was. She's

- 47:10Speaker 7: uh formicah, she's uh, she's been good. It was wonderful,

- 47:20Speaker 7: really a joke. I try to the week always before

- 47:27Speaker 7: I It's why, that's why I work out five days

- 47:33Speaker 3: I know I'm a fan.
- 47:34Speaker 7: You're supposed to, you know, eat to live. Well, I'm
- 47:37Speaker 7: the opposite, which is why I really have to watch
- 47:39Speaker 7: myself always. It was It's great. I mean, the food
- 47:43Speaker 7: is just so great. And I never thought that I
- 47:45Speaker 7: would really care. I mean, I'm fifty three, I'll be
- 47:47Speaker 7: fifty four March. I never thought I would care about
- 47:49Speaker 7: silly stuff like freeze dried candies like that just seems ridiculous.
- 47:53Speaker 7: But the older I get, the more I get this
- 47:55Speaker 7: sweet tooth. So I don't know ad an entire bag
- 47:59Speaker 7: of freeze dried candy.
- 48:00Speaker 12: All right.
- 48:01Speaker 3: So, speaking of which, this will transition perfectly to what
- 48:04Speaker 3: I want to bring up next. City Council meets tonight.
- 48:08Speaker 3: There's some talk, and there has been for some time
- 48:10Speaker 3: I've had Councilman Chad Robinson on the show to talk
- 48:12Speaker 3: about it possibly seeing the city changing some codes concerning
- 48:18Speaker 3: simple marijuana possession in the cities sure where, And I've
- 48:22Speaker 3: been told that it's going to at least be brought
- 48:24Speaker 3: up tonight in one way or another at the city
- 48:27Speaker 3: council meeting. Where does this whole thing stand there? And
- 48:29Speaker 3: do you have a stance on Yeah, well.
- 48:30Speaker 7: There's two different things. There is the bill that council
- 48:37Speaker 7: Member Robinson council Member Annie have been working on just
- 48:44Speaker 7: to make a first time offense, no jail time, no fines,
- 48:49Speaker 7: which is you know, that's not what our our police
- 48:52Speaker 7: chief and our police officer here, they don't arrest people
- 48:55Speaker 7: and put them in a jail for first time offense.
- 48:57Speaker 7: But I think what you're talking about is that we
- 49:00Speaker 7: received a while back of folks who wanted to make
- 49:07Speaker 7: some changes, and they had somewhere around eighteen hundred signatures.
- 49:15Speaker 7: A council member had asked questions to be put on
- 49:17Speaker 7: the ballot and to have voters to give enough time
- 49:21Speaker 7: to put it on the ballot and have voters decide
- 49:23Speaker 7: what was stated in their petition, which you can do,
- 49:28Speaker 7: but state code requires that there is a larger number
- 49:32Speaker 7: of folks that have to be it's ten percent of
- 49:35Speaker 7: all qualified voters. They had I think ten percent of
- 49:39Speaker 7: all folks who did vote. So there's obviously a disparate
- 49:44Speaker 7: explain Yeah, the disparity or the differences, that is what Well,
- 49:50Speaker 7: state law here's here's the punchline, doesn't really matter. State
- 49:54Speaker 7: law trumps and so it is ten percent of all
- 49:58Speaker 7: qualified voters. So that would be you know, thirty three
- 50:05Speaker 7: hundred and change folks for the amount of qualified voters
- 50:09Speaker 7: that we have.
- 50:09Speaker 3: So what's going to happen tonight at city Council as
- 50:11Speaker 3: it pertains to this, Well.
- 50:13Speaker 7: It's the petition won't move forward, That's what will happen.
- 50:17Speaker 7: So that will not be put on the agenda, will
- 50:19Speaker 7: not be voted on, and then thus it will not
- 50:21Speaker 7: go on the ballot this November. But continuing these conversations
- 50:26Speaker 7: with the petitioners, by the way, council Member Robinson, who
- 50:29Speaker 7: has done an amazing job, and council Member Annie he's
- 50:32Speaker 7: also done an amazing job or working not only with
- 50:34Speaker 7: the petitioners but others to not only work on some
- 50:41Speaker 7: concerns that the petitioners had, but just to work on
- 50:44Speaker 7: some you know, questions that we have in the community.
- 50:47Speaker 7: Are you know, why is it on the books that
- 50:49Speaker 7: we have first time you know, you're jail. You know,
- 50:51Speaker 7: it's available offense. What it shouldn't be first time? And
- 50:54Speaker 7: so there's going to be a discussion maybe about the
- 50:57Speaker 7: well probably about the petition tonight, but then possibly about
- 51:00Speaker 7: future bills that address uh, these first time offenses and
- 51:06Speaker 7: jailable offenses for simple simple possession.
- 51:10Speaker 3: Okay, marijuana, All right, real quick, I only get about
- 51:12Speaker 3: a minute here. Yeah, Capital Sports Complex apparently Aquatic is
- 51:16Speaker 3: not going to be a part of it.
- 51:17Speaker 7: Is not That is what our Sports Facilities Inc. The
- 51:21Speaker 7: management company that we hired uh to say, tell us
- 51:25Speaker 7: what you're saying, not only across that and not just
- 51:28Speaker 7: saying what's working across the country, uh with these sports facilities,
- 51:33Speaker 7: what we can do and how do we make money
- 51:37Speaker 7: off of this facility to continue you know, to continue
- 51:41Speaker 7: it for years to come so we don't have to
- 51:43Speaker 7: subsidize it.
- 51:44Speaker 8: Uh.
- 51:44Speaker 7: And it so was their recommendation. So that's number one
- 51:47Speaker 7: and most important. Number two is the parking garages and
- 51:52Speaker 7: the bond holders that have captured and continue to have
- 51:57Speaker 7: the parking garages all right where we were supposed to
- 52:01Speaker 7: put you know, true basketball.
- 52:03Speaker 3: That's not guy, but but it's still gonna happen. It's
- 52:05Speaker 3: just in a different form.
- 52:06Speaker 7: And no, by the way, let me say this, I
- 52:08Speaker 7: think we do need a second swimming pool. If we
- 52:10Speaker 7: want to be competitive, you have to have a second
- 52:13Speaker 7: swimming pool, Olympic sized swimming pool, a warm up lane.
- 52:16Speaker 7: But that should happen with an existing one. There's only
- 52:20Speaker 7: a couple maer.
- 52:21Speaker 3: I appreciate you being here, Yes, thank you sir. And
- 52:22Speaker 3: again all right, coming up one of our show again,
- 52:25Speaker 3: Ken on a canny Chemist bins Lango is going to
