Transcript
- 0:02Welcome to Bible Chat, where we have devotional conversations
- 0:06rooted in scripture and relevant for.
- 0:07Today, May 7th, Plans, choices, and God's guidance.
- 0:14Have you ever made a choice that looked harmless at first, but
- 0:16slowly started taking over more of your heart than you expected?
- 0:20A habit, a friendship, a secret, a desire, a distraction.
- 0:26Sometimes the danger is not that something looks obviously wrong,
- 0:29it is that it quietly begins to dominate you.
- 0:33Proverbs chapter 15 verses 22 to 23 says without counsel plans
- 0:38fail, but with many advisors they succeed to make an
- 0:42apartment. Answer is a joy to a man and a
- 0:45word in season how good it is. First Corinthians chapter 10
- 0:49verse 13 says that no temptation has overtaken you except what is
- 0:54common to man and that God is faithful and will provide the
- 0:58way of escape. Then First Corinthians chapter
- 1:0110 verse 23 says all things are lawful for me, but not all
- 1:06things are helpful. All things are lawful for me,
- 1:10but I will not be dominated by anything.
- 1:12That is wisdom for real life. You do not have to figure
- 1:16everything out alone. God often protects you through
- 1:19wise counsel, a parent, a mentor, a pastor, a trusted
- 1:24friend, or someone who loves you enough to tell you the truth.
- 1:28Plans can fail when we are too proud to ask for help, but there
- 1:31is safety and humble listening. And when temptation comes, God
- 1:35does not shame you for being tempted.
- 1:38He reminds you that you are not alone, and He provides a way of
- 1:42escape. There is always a moment to
- 1:44pause, a door to walk away from, a message you do not have to
- 1:48send, a website you can close, a conversation you can leave, a
- 1:53prayer you can whisper. The question is not only can I
- 1:56do this, sometimes the better question is, is this helping me
- 2:00become who God called me to be? Let's pray Heavenly Father guide
- 2:05my plans and shape my choices. Give me humility to seek wise
- 2:09counsel and courage to listen when you correct my direction.
- 2:13When temptation comes, help me see the way of escape and take
- 2:17it. Do not let anything dominate my
- 2:19heart except your love and Your will.
- 2:21Lead me in the path that honors you in Jesus name, Amen.
- 2:26What if the battles hitting your family are not random and your
- 2:29home can become a place where darkness loses every right to
- 2:32stay? The Secured Home is a powerful

- 3:29Now I invite you to spend time with God in today's three-year
- 3:32Bible reading plan. Proverbs chapter 15 verses 22 to
- 3:3723 World English Bible where there is no counsel.
- 3:42Plans fail, but in a multitude of counselors they are
- 3:45established. Joy comes to a man with the
- 3:47reply of his mouth. How good is a word at the right
- 3:51time? First Corinthians Chapter 10
- 3:54World English Bible Now I would not have you ignorant brothers,
- 3:59that our fathers were all under the cloud and all pass through
- 4:02the sea, and we're all baptized into Moses in the cloud and in
- 4:05the sea, and all ate the same spiritual food and all drank the
- 4:10same spiritual drink, for they drank of a spiritual rock that
- 4:14followed them, and the rock was Christ.
- 4:17However, with most of them God was not well pleased, for they
- 4:21were overthrown in the wilderness.
- 4:23Now these things were our examples to the intent we should
- 4:26not lust after evil things as they also lusted.
- 4:30Don't be idolaters, as some of them were.
- 4:33As it is written, the people sat down to eat and drink, and rose
- 4:37up to play. Let's not commit sexual
- 4:39immorality, as some of them committed, and in one day 23,000
- 4:43fell. Let's not test Christ, as some
- 4:46of them tested and perished by the serpents.
- 4:49Don't grumble as some of them also grumbled and perished by
- 4:53the destroyer. Now all these things happen to
- 4:56them by way of example, and they were written for our admonition
- 5:00on whom the ends of the ages have come.
- 5:03Therefore let him who thinks he stands be careful that he
- 5:06doesn't fall. No temptation has taken you
- 5:09except what is common to man. God is faithful who will not
- 5:13allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with
- 5:17the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able
- 5:20to endure it. Therefore, my beloved, flee from
- 5:24idolatry. I speak as to wise men.
- 5:27Judge what I say. The cup of blessing which we
- 5:29bless, isn't it a sharing of the blood of Christ?
- 5:33The bread which we break, isn't it a sharing of the body of
- 5:36Christ? Because there is one loaf of
- 5:38bread? We who are many are one body,
- 5:41for we all partake of the one loaf of bread.
- 5:44Consider Israel according to the flesh.
- 5:47Don't those who eat the sacrifices participate in the
- 5:50altar? What am I saying then?
- 5:52That a thing sacrificed to idols is anything, or that an idol is
- 5:56anything but? I say that the things which the
- 5:59Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to demons and not to
- 6:03God. And I don't desire that you
- 6:05would have fellowship with demons.
- 6:08You can't both drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons.
- 6:11You can't both partake of the table of the Lord and of the
- 6:14table of demons. Or do we provoke the Lord to
- 6:17jealousy? Are we stronger than He?
- 6:20All things are lawful for me, but not all things are
- 6:23profitable. All things are lawful for me,
- 6:26but not all things build up. Let no one seek his own, but
- 6:30each one his neighbor's good. Whatever is sold in the butcher
- 6:34shop, eat, asking no question for the sake of conscience.
- 6:38For the earth is the Lord S and its fullness.
- 6:41But if one of those who don't believe invites you to a meal
- 6:45and you are inclined to go, eat whatever is set before you,
- 6:48asking no questions for the sake of conscience.
- 6:52But if anyone says to you, This was offered to idols, don't eat
- 6:56it for the sake of the one who told you, and for the sake of
- 6:59conscience. For the earth is the Lord S with
- 7:02all its fullness. Conscience, I say, not your own,
- 7:06but the others conscience. For why is my liberty judged by
- 7:09another conscience? If I partake with thankfulness,
- 7:13why am I denounced for something I give thanks for?
- 7:16Whether therefore, you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do
- 7:19all to the glory of God. Give no occasion for stumbling,
- 7:24whether to Jews or to Greeks, or to the Assembly of God, even as
- 7:28I also please all men in all things, not seeking my own
- 7:32prophet, but the prophet of the many, that they may be saved.
