0:21
[SPEAKER_02]: Up against the wall.
0:22
[SPEAKER_02]: Can I explain that one feeling right now, guys?
0:24
[SPEAKER_00]: I can't believe it.
0:25
[SPEAKER_02]: Let's open up that raised ball.
0:31
[SPEAKER_00]: or can't believe U.S.C.
0:34
[SPEAKER_00]: is undefeated in the ATC.

[SPEAKER_01]: At least at our hotel?
1:34
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, love everybody.
1:35
[SPEAKER_01]: Hello!
1:36
[SPEAKER_01]: We're back.
1:37
[SPEAKER_01]: a few minutes late and a lot of stuff going on which I think we just into a segment in which we're just going to talk about some podcast news really quick.
1:48
[SPEAKER_01]: A lot of stuff coming your way, a lot of stuff a little bit different coming your way slightly somewhat.
1:56
[SPEAKER_01]: Let's pull it up on the screen here.
1:58
[SPEAKER_01]: We have the upcoming schedule for Rainer Troy stuff here on YouTube.
2:05
[SPEAKER_01]: You watch along.
2:06
[SPEAKER_01]: We'll go as planned on Friday nights.
2:09
[SPEAKER_01]: Join us.
2:09
[SPEAKER_01]: 6pm Pacific on YouTube.
2:13
[SPEAKER_01]: Game time.
2:13
[SPEAKER_01]: Watch the game along with us.
2:17
[SPEAKER_01]: after the game, of course, the car cast.
2:20
[SPEAKER_01]: However, there will be no file on episode, just like with Nebraska was the file on episode was delayed.
2:27
[SPEAKER_01]: This upcoming file on episode, there will be no file on episode.
2:31
[SPEAKER_01]: However, there will be an Iowa preview.
2:34
[SPEAKER_01]: I'll be at a pre-recorded one, which will drop next Wednesday per usual at 4pm Pacific.
2:42
[SPEAKER_01]: Although, since this pre-recorded,
2:47
[SPEAKER_01]: It might, the podcasts might get a little weird.
2:50
[SPEAKER_02]: We will have no control over that.
2:52
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, maybe we should just predict things that could happen in the time in which the show airs from when we record it.
3:01
[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, we could always blame meta.
3:07
[SPEAKER_02]: Why meta?
3:08
[SPEAKER_02]: because Meta owns Google which owns YouTube.
3:11
[SPEAKER_02]: Meta doesn't own Google.
3:13
[SPEAKER_02]: Meta owns Facebook, shoot.
3:14
[SPEAKER_02]: Who owns Google, who owns Google, owns Google.
3:17
[SPEAKER_02]: We can always blame Google.
3:19
[SPEAKER_01]: Sure, sure.
3:22
[SPEAKER_01]: Anyways, next week, the Iowa preview normal time Wednesday for PML, although it won't be a live show, it'll be pre-recorded.
3:31
[SPEAKER_01]: And then the Iowa Carcast next week will be after the Iowa game.
3:37
[SPEAKER_01]: But not immediately after the Iowa game, it'll be late night because we will be on a slight delay.
3:42
[SPEAKER_01]: The TLDR.
3:45
[SPEAKER_01]: We're going.
3:47
[SPEAKER_01]: To the DR, we're going out of the country this week, hence the funny little schedule mishaps coming your way.
3:56
[SPEAKER_01]: But everybody's getting everything with the exception of the fallet episode for Northwestern.
4:01
[SPEAKER_01]: So I, Rekarcast, we'll just be a little bit later.
4:04
[SPEAKER_01]: I will fall out, Oregon Preview, Oregon Watch along all that stuff on schedule per usual.
4:10
[SPEAKER_01]: So there you go.
4:13
[SPEAKER_01]: Am I missing anything there?
4:14
[SPEAKER_01]: I believe that's everything.
4:16
[SPEAKER_01]: leave this everything.
4:17
[SPEAKER_02]: Unless you wanted to continue out the schedule and add the Oregon Carcast after the Oregon Watch along.
4:22
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and then the big 10 championship game watch along.
4:28
[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, of course.
4:30
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
4:31
[SPEAKER_01]: uh... the other show no show news and we wanted to get to uh... was about our discord for our members here on youtube uh... the discord i i did some troubleshooting because we got reached out to uh... about uh... access to the discord not working right uh... turns out our wires were crossed uh... we didn't realize it so uh... we've
4:56
[SPEAKER_01]: I think we fixed everything.
4:58
[SPEAKER_01]: So if you are a member on YouTube at the Discord membership, you should be able to connect to Discord now.
5:07
[SPEAKER_01]: If you aren't connected in Discord, you want to go to your user settings, connections, then YouTube, they'll give you an invite and all that kind of stuff.
5:19
[SPEAKER_01]: So yeah.
5:21
[SPEAKER_02]: And if you did know that we had a Discord, we do have a Discord.
5:25
[SPEAKER_02]: for our YouTube members.
5:26
[SPEAKER_02]: It's a fun place over there.
5:28
[SPEAKER_02]: There's a lot of really good Trojan fans talking about USC and what's going on with the program.
5:34
[SPEAKER_01]: You can people not like in their baseball segment.
5:37
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, we did get a comment, you know, it wasn't just it's the new stop talking about soccer Yeah, you stopped talking about baseball.
5:45
[SPEAKER_02]: You know, we had a discussion a I don't think it'd debate just like a discussion about It was Ron and whether or not he was done dirty today So yeah, we were always we're always chatting things up and and it's pretty lively during games as well in there.
5:59
[SPEAKER_02]: So
5:59
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah, so you can join us over on Discord if you want to be a YouTube member as well.
6:04
[SPEAKER_01]: So all right, let's get to the real news.
6:09
[SPEAKER_01]: Shall we?
6:20
[SPEAKER_01]: Alright, we talked about this briefly yesterday when it came out live during our episode, but SC is 19th in the first call of football playoff rankings.
6:31
[SPEAKER_01]: Michigan 21st, Iowa USC's opponent next week is 20th, Notre Dame who USC lost to his 10th and Oregon who SC plays in two weeks is 9th.
6:45
[SPEAKER_01]: So the way I'm looking at this and correct me if I'm wrong,
6:50
[SPEAKER_01]: If SC beats Iowa and beats Oregon, they have a chance to go three and one against teams that are ranked in the college for ball rankings.
7:00
[SPEAKER_01]: I'll be in if they beat Iowa, I will probably fall out, but you get my draft.
7:06
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I mean, USC's schedule certainly was not, was not easy and has not been easy and is not easy and there's some really good teams on there, which is why I'm very frustrated that USC let that nor am game get away from them because that was there for the taking.
7:22
[SPEAKER_01]: right yeah what can you do yeah and as he can sort of make up for everything by beaten organ in a couple weeks and beaten Iowa next week and beaten Northwestern this week and you see a few weeks from now and just take care of their own business it's all there I'm not going to use the UB phrase but there is B that's you
7:45
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not I can't say it.
7:48
[SPEAKER_01]: I can't speak into existence.
7:51
[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, yeah.
7:52
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, yeah, don't say that.
7:53
[SPEAKER_01]: There's no words.
7:54
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, you know what I mean.
7:55
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, you know what I mean.
7:56
[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
7:58
[SPEAKER_01]: Other notes entry update.
8:00
[SPEAKER_01]: A lot of you know how's a concussion.
8:03
[SPEAKER_01]: He left the Nebraska game.
8:05
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, he left the Nebraska game with a concussion.
8:07
[SPEAKER_02]: I haven't seen anything specific about his availability, but I do have a tweet here from Shotguns Bratling, who said USC is used 12 different offensive line combination this season, including five different offensive lines starting lineups.
8:23
[SPEAKER_02]: And the Trojans could be a line for a sixth on Friday after a Lonnie Noah left the game with an apparent concussion.
8:28
[SPEAKER_02]: So whether or not a Lonnie Noah is going to play or not,
8:33
[SPEAKER_02]: is up in the air, if he doesn't play, then it will be Kaylon Miller, presumably stepping in to start for him the way that he took over for him during the game against Nebraska.
8:44
[SPEAKER_02]: So yeah, that'll be something to watch, but the very least Kaylon Miller did a hell of a job when he came in.
8:50
[SPEAKER_02]: So yeah, I'm not stressing it too much.
8:53
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, we'll see how Kelly Miller can do.
8:56
[SPEAKER_01]: Miller and Miller, the law firm of the Miller twins probably getting the start on Saturday or Friday.
9:05
[SPEAKER_01]: Night against Northwestern.
9:07
[SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, take your pick on how you feel which Miller will succeed more.
9:13
[SPEAKER_01]: And of course, you can also make picks over it under dog fantasy, fantasy football,
9:19
[SPEAKER_01]: is getting into the crux of it and daily fantasy, especially because it's November.
9:25
[SPEAKER_01]: This is when seasons are one, and this is when you can do some winning by making your picks and using your ball knowledge to pick where their player will go higher or lower than their
9:44
[SPEAKER_01]: I this week I'm going lower on nine and a half genosmith rushing yards and higher 70 and a half
9:52
[SPEAKER_01]: JK Dobbins rushing yards as well.
9:55
[SPEAKER_01]: Both of those are on Thursday night.
9:57
[SPEAKER_01]: So check us out over on Underdog.
10:00
[SPEAKER_01]: Fantasy joined me down on the F today.
10:03
[SPEAKER_01]: Sign up and use promo code rate of Troy to score $800 in bonus entries when you use your first $5 dollars.
10:09
[SPEAKER_01]: That's promo code rate of Troy.
10:11
[SPEAKER_01]: Millions of fans have already won billions making picks on Underdog.
10:14
[SPEAKER_01]: Will you be next?
10:15
[SPEAKER_01]: Underdog make picks, win money, must be 18 plus 19 plus an Alabama and Nebraska 19 plus an Colorado for some games, 20 plus an Arizona Massachusetts and Virginia and president of statewear underdog fantasy operates.
10:25
[SPEAKER_01]: Turn supply, see assets at underdogfinacy.com forward slash whip forward slash play and get terms, underscore dfs underscore dot html for details, offer dot valid in Maryland, Michigan New Jersey, Ohio and Pennsylvania, and so much to play Cole and a hundred gamblers for the NTP gambling dot org in New York, call 217, hope line at 1 8 7 7 8 hope and wire text, hope and why.
10:43
[SPEAKER_01]: This is 4-6-7-3-6-9-o-lice.
10:47
[SPEAKER_01]: Let's get to it.
10:50
[SPEAKER_01]: USC Northwestern.
10:53
[SPEAKER_01]: Lock and horns.
10:54
[SPEAKER_01]: at the Colosseum Saturday, Friday nights.
10:59
[SPEAKER_01]: Six, get it right sometime.
11:00
[SPEAKER_01]: Friday, Friday, Friday, Friday, six p.m. on Big Fox.
11:06
[SPEAKER_01]: The, well, it's five and three, three and two in conference in the third season of the David Braun era in Evanston.
11:15
[SPEAKER_01]: First time, USC Northwestern will meet on the grid
11:22
[SPEAKER_01]: You remember where you were in 1986 where you left that game?
11:26
[SPEAKER_01]: I did not watch that game, I presume.
11:28
[SPEAKER_01]: No, I was at my grandma's house.
11:30
[SPEAKER_01]: I remember...
11:31
[SPEAKER_02]: The game might have been on the TV in my house.
11:34
[SPEAKER_02]: I doubt I would have sat down to watch it.
11:37
[SPEAKER_01]: I remember I stepped away for part of the fourth quarter because I was so excited I wanted to play football in the driveway.
11:45
[SPEAKER_01]: because he's almost going nuts.
11:47
[SPEAKER_01]: So I had to, you know, do my part.
11:49
[SPEAKER_01]: That's, that's kids.
11:51
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
11:51
[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, actually when they came 41, 32.
11:54
[SPEAKER_01]: Darnell, Audrey, the, the, the, the Notre Dame, Notre Dame, the Northwestern, um, runny back at the time.
12:01
[SPEAKER_01]: There's some lineback.
12:02
[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know if you've ever heard of a name Pat Fitzgeralds, two-time all-american.
12:06
[SPEAKER_01]: Gary Barnett was the head coach, Gary Barnett of course the eventual head coach at Colorado who left ungracefully from there.
12:14
[SPEAKER_01]: He was the head coach when I see B Colorado at a 43 and 2002.
12:17
[SPEAKER_01]: So here we go, S.C. and Northwestern, Lincoln Rally and David Braun, the Wildcats mentioned five and three, 59th and F.E.I.
12:29
[SPEAKER_01]: This is an interesting team because
12:32
[SPEAKER_01]: going into the season we talked about the big ten with our friends over the West Bruinshow I basically said I have nothing on Northwestern I don't expect anything from them I have nothing until proven otherwise at least I think I've been proven otherwise I think they've been relatively solid they've been they they
12:56
[SPEAKER_01]: went out, they beat UCLA, they put in the final dagger in their own four starts, they beat Penn State on the road, the final dagger in James Franklin, and you know, they're a team that plays everybody tough, they played Nebraska tough a couple of weeks ago.
13:20
[SPEAKER_01]: not exactly pretty football, they're very big, tiny, 71st and offense and FBI, 45th and defense.
13:28
[SPEAKER_01]: Jeff Sackran is a team have them 56, but they're a pain in the ass to play.
13:36
[SPEAKER_02]: yeah i mean that's that's the thing is like this new earth western team is not rolled over and died even organ who beat them pretty handily and jumped out to pretty big early when i felt like they found it hard to really put their foot on the gas and just like roll away with it the way that they've done to some other teams and i think it's no worthy that that you know of the three losses that they have two of them were on the road
14:00
[SPEAKER_02]: one of them was against Oregon and this is a team that's generally, you know, I think out kicked its coverage, no, out performed its coverage.
14:12
[SPEAKER_02]: I'm mixing metaphors.
14:13
[SPEAKER_02]: They've outperformed our expectations for sure in terms of where they are at this stage.
14:21
[SPEAKER_02]: They are, you know, a perfectly middling.
14:25
[SPEAKER_02]: Big 10 team of the, it almost feels like they've taken like Wisconsin's place in, in that sort of like middle tier With with with Wisconsin and Penn State.
14:37
[SPEAKER_02]: It's a plummeting down down below.
14:39
[SPEAKER_01]: I have a, I have a thought here.
14:42
[SPEAKER_01]: They are the smarter
14:48
[SPEAKER_01]: lesson-pressive version of Minnesota.
14:51
[SPEAKER_01]: Does that make sense?
14:53
[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
14:54
[SPEAKER_01]: They're going to do a lot of things, right?
14:58
[SPEAKER_01]: They're not going to scare you on paper, but they're going to be a pain in the ass to play, and if you don't take them seriously, they will beat you.
15:05
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, Northwestern's a team that can can get you gotten.
15:09
[SPEAKER_02]: They got Penn State, but a lot of teams have gotten Penn State.
15:12
[SPEAKER_02]: But there's still a team that clearly has a pulse.
15:16
[SPEAKER_02]: Nebraska needed every inch of their talent in order to beat Northwestern before playing USC.
15:25
[SPEAKER_02]: Northwestern was very, very in that game.
15:27
[SPEAKER_02]: They were a very annoyed annoying to play from Nebraska's perspective.
15:34
[SPEAKER_02]: uh... so yeah there there are tough team and i think that david brawn at this point in his career uh... seventeen and sixteen and in with with the wild cat so far these he's doing something there you know i think that every year north of the north western gets a little bit better uh... they are still sort of handcuffed by the north western of it all but sure david brawn is proven himself to be a pretty capable head coach at this point and this is definitely a north western team that
16:01
[SPEAKER_02]: While you would almost expect them to be the bottom feed or alongside Purdue, they continue to show that they are far from sort of bottom feeding place in this conference and thus you have to take them seriously.
16:17
[SPEAKER_02]: Even, like, this isn't like getting Rutgers on a Friday night last year.
16:22
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
16:23
[SPEAKER_02]: not saying that U.S. you shouldn't expect to go in here and win this game.
16:26
[SPEAKER_01]: It's the most appear in the S. too.
16:27
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, but also it was sort of the Friday night kind of thing.
16:31
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
16:32
[SPEAKER_02]: But I think this Northwestern team is probably more, yeah, more capable, maybe of a given U.S.c.
16:41
[SPEAKER_02]: maybe a hard time.
16:42
[SPEAKER_02]: The real question mark is, they haven't gone west.
16:48
[SPEAKER_02]: Let me look at what they did last year.
16:50
[SPEAKER_02]: Did they play?
16:53
[SPEAKER_02]: Um, they played Washington last year, and lost 24 to five, um, classic classic Washington score.
17:03
[SPEAKER_02]: But yeah, they, they really, we don't have a good sense of what they look like coming West.
17:09
[SPEAKER_02]: So that's obviously going to be a factor in most big 10 games and certainly ones that USC hosts.
17:15
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, you mentioned the Rutgers game last year.
17:17
[SPEAKER_01]: The Rutgers game last year, we all thought that that would be a game in which heavily benefited SC because it was 11 PM game on a short week, 11 PM local time for them on East Coast time, on a short week coming all the way across the country.
17:33
[SPEAKER_01]: This has a lot of those elements, absolutely, right?
17:37
[SPEAKER_01]: The difference being, it's 6 p.m.
17:43
[SPEAKER_01]: and it's central time.
17:45
[SPEAKER_01]: So they, they save three hours that way.
17:48
[SPEAKER_01]: It's going to be an 8 p.m. local kick on a on a on a Friday night on a short week.
17:53
[SPEAKER_01]: Um, but they're, they're.
17:56
[SPEAKER_01]: They had to buy last week, right?
17:57
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, they're coming off a buy.
17:59
[SPEAKER_02]: That's the, that's the other factor.
18:01
[SPEAKER_01]: That helps them out there.
18:02
[SPEAKER_02]: USC is on a short week, having traveled the week before, getting this game on a Friday against a team that was on a buy before against a team that is certainly not a pushover that has played teams tough and is looking for a signature win after, I mean, Penn State's their signature win, but you know what I mean?
18:22
[SPEAKER_02]: Like they're, they're head hunting a little bit.
18:25
[SPEAKER_01]: Let's see what they're offence, led by Preston Stone, the Estonia transfer at quarterback.
18:32
[SPEAKER_01]: He's not been great this year.
18:34
[SPEAKER_01]: No.
18:34
[SPEAKER_01]: You're not tuning in to Northwestern Games to watch him spend the bean.
18:38
[SPEAKER_01]: 171 yards per game through the Yaris on a completing 58% of his passes.
18:45
[SPEAKER_01]: A touchdown in Interception, Horatio of 10 to 9.
18:48
[SPEAKER_02]: with a quarterback rating of a buck 18.7 is he's pretty firmly the worst quarterback in the in the big 10.
18:56
[SPEAKER_02]: PFF has his great at 59.8 which is pretty horrific.
19:00
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah, and you look at the past offenses in the country and they're up there, 118th and passer rating, 116th and passing yards, this is a team that likes to run the football, the Russian offense, rather decent 29th nationally, they're averaging 188 yards per game.
19:21
[SPEAKER_01]: only 10 touchdowns on the ground.
19:23
[SPEAKER_01]: I think they could get into the end zone more part of that is that they struggle in the red zone.
19:28
[SPEAKER_01]: But there are players at the skill positions.
19:30
[SPEAKER_01]: I think are absolutely guys to keep an eye on.
19:33
[SPEAKER_01]: Caleb come alifei at running back, red shirt, sophomore, 608 yards, averaging 4.9 yards per carries, keep an eye on him at wide receiver.
19:45
[SPEAKER_01]: This
19:46
[SPEAKER_01]: PFF grade, so far this year of 82.5 the highest starter for the Wildcats, 570 receiving the arts for Touchdown, he's going to be their primary target.
19:58
[SPEAKER_01]: He's the guy that you're going to want to sort of keep an eye on the day and remain on the answer.
20:02
[SPEAKER_02]: De Carlos Nicholson will be on him, this will be a really interesting matchup for him.
20:07
[SPEAKER_02]: considering that I think to color to Carlos Nicholson is like settled down a little bit from where all the corners were at the start of the season and it's very clearly now to Carlos Nicholson and Marcelo Williams who are, you know, the starting quarter corners and the getting the majority of snaps and that seems to have settled both of them down I think but this will be this will be a test because Griffin Wilde is certainly capable of
20:32
[SPEAKER_02]: of creating opportunities to catch the ball in an offense that doesn't really have a lot of success throwing the ball, but it's not because their wide receivers aren't capable, it's because they don't necessarily have a great arm throwing the ball and their offense in general is just kind of so-so.
20:51
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, in a lot of ways, this is the hallmark example of what you think of as a big-ten team in the stereotypically, right?
21:01
[SPEAKER_01]: Like, don't allow a lot of negative plays, 12th in tackles for loss allowed.
21:07
[SPEAKER_01]: So they're not going to be creating a lot of negative plays.
21:10
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, not going to be subjected to a lot of negative plays.
21:13
[SPEAKER_01]: They dominate time of possession.
21:15
[SPEAKER_01]: There are at over 33 minutes of possession per game, which is six in the country, low and slow running the football, they're going to make you cross your teeth, dot your eyes, all of those things, and I think considering that SC struggles at times with things like penalties, things like taking advantage of situations.
21:39
[SPEAKER_01]: This absolutely could be a wearing some matchup in that sense.
21:45
[SPEAKER_01]: Mr. P in the chat says it feels like a trapped game.
21:49
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm curious your thoughts on that because I will or can you see a lame loom?
21:53
[SPEAKER_01]: Is there a trap element to it coming off of the roadwind in Nebraska on a short week, your back at home?
22:02
[SPEAKER_01]: It's on Friday night things are a little bit weird.
22:04
[SPEAKER_01]: That way, you've got a big homecoming game coming up.
22:08
[SPEAKER_01]: Is there a trap game element to this, especially for SE's defense coming off of the game in which they played relatively well in the second half against a team that was somewhat similar in profile in the second half in Nebraska in a team that had no passing threat and was only going to be able to run the ball on you in the second half.
22:35
[SPEAKER_02]: Well, you could always overlook any team, and USC's defense should certainly not be overlooking anybody given what they've given up against even middling offenses this year.
22:46
[SPEAKER_02]: So they're certainly not in a position to think like, oh, we're fine going into this.
22:51
[SPEAKER_02]: I do think that the Nebraska game is a good
22:54
[SPEAKER_02]: sort of test case for what this defense can achieve against an offense like this.
22:59
[SPEAKER_02]: I think if you want to treat the Nebraska game is like a a confidence boost as sort of a proof of concept, then this is the perfect team to get after that.
23:09
[SPEAKER_02]: Like you said, they're they're basically Nebraska light.
23:12
[SPEAKER_01]: Railway injury.
23:13
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, they are they are Nebraska's offense.
23:15
[SPEAKER_02]: with a slightly less impressive, only slightly less impressive rushing offense, and with a significantly worse quarterback.
23:23
[SPEAKER_02]: So like, without Dillon Riala.
23:27
[SPEAKER_02]: So yeah, I think this is a game that USC should come into and say, well, we prove we can stop Nebraska with a similar, similar offense, the game plan to stop Nebraska in the second half at least.
23:43
[SPEAKER_02]: did the trick and you can sort of, you know, copypaste a little bit and try to replicate it.
23:50
[SPEAKER_02]: They don't.
23:53
[SPEAKER_02]: It's hard because it's hard to figure out exactly where they will threaten USC in the sense of they like they don't have a lot of explosive plays
24:10
[SPEAKER_02]: they don't really, like drive all that well, they get into the red zone rarely, and when they do get into the red zone, they rarely leave with a touchdown.
24:24
[SPEAKER_02]: So, you know, this is not an impressive offense.
24:28
[SPEAKER_02]: So in that sense, like,
24:30
[SPEAKER_02]: the areas where u.s. he might be vulnerable is simply the areas that u.s.e.
24:35
[SPEAKER_02]: we've seen them be vulnerable in the most frustrating kinds of ways is like they can't stop the run and then they let northwestern be uncharacteristically successful at getting down the field and getting into the end zone simply because u.s. he can't stop the run and because the one on one battles within the in the passing game.
24:54
[SPEAKER_02]: U.S. he starts to lose them.
24:55
[SPEAKER_02]: So it's like there's no specific danger area.
24:59
[SPEAKER_02]: There's just like that if you're bad.
25:01
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, like if you are not ready to play, if it is, if you buy into the trap game thing and all that stuff, I will say, or defensively for the trodms, I think this is a fantastic matchup.
25:14
[SPEAKER_01]: Instrict strictly because every time you see SC line up against the team that
25:21
[SPEAKER_01]: Trends towards one dimensionality, SC tends to succeed more often than not under Danton Lynn.
25:30
[SPEAKER_01]: Look at last year, games at home against Wisconsin and Rutgers.
25:37
[SPEAKER_01]: they succeeded in those games.
25:39
[SPEAKER_01]: Kyle Monungai had his moments last year against Rutgers.
25:42
[SPEAKER_01]: I think Monungai is better than any skill position player that Northwestern has on this year's offense.
25:49
[SPEAKER_01]: But like, I think it's just a similar type of team, especially with Caliac Manus, as being sort of a like pressed in stone, a very veteran quarterback who's been around.
26:00
[SPEAKER_02]: Caliac Manus has proven to be a significantly better quarterback than anything we've seen from pressed in stone at any point.
26:07
[SPEAKER_01]: But Caliac Manus was like widely considered the worst quarterback in the big ten for a while, though Right, but like the same like they're they're on it's it's a very similar kind of thing and that was a game in which When FC started to dot their eyes and cross their teas they separated.
26:25
[SPEAKER_01]: They won the game
26:27
[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, and and this to me is one of those those matchups where like you have a talent advantage You should have a talent advantage it literally every position on the field
26:38
[SPEAKER_01]: I do think that there's going to be issues on S.E.'
26:43
[SPEAKER_01]: 's offensive side of the ball against Northwestern's defense, because let's talk about Northwestern's defense, or solid defense.
26:50
[SPEAKER_01]: We know that defense travels 13th nationally and scoring their holding teams to under 17 points per game, 19th in total defense, 344 yards per game.
27:01
[SPEAKER_01]: First down, they're holding teams.
27:03
[SPEAKER_01]: pretty well, they're 14th nationally and fourth down defense.
27:07
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, first down defense.
27:10
[SPEAKER_01]: I think when you when you put it all together, there are some worrying signs for SC's offense given the last two weeks.
27:19
[SPEAKER_01]: SC has played eight games.
27:20
[SPEAKER_01]: The first six games mega on offense all six weeks.
27:25
[SPEAKER_01]: The bad game for SC was Purdue, a game in which they had at least the field goal attempt on every single drive.
27:33
[SPEAKER_01]: So when you look at what SEA's in the last two weeks, they've sort of gotten done, right?
27:43
[SPEAKER_01]: Like, Leonard Moore shut down Mackay Lemon two weeks ago.
27:48
[SPEAKER_01]: They were still able to move the ball.
27:50
[SPEAKER_01]: The, you know, they were, they were, though, I lack of moving the ball was not the reason they lost to Notre Dame.
27:57
[SPEAKER_01]: but they didn't have the ease of moving the ball that they did against Illinois, for instance, in which they moved the ball up and down the field with relative ease, say, for a couple of drives, right?
28:09
[SPEAKER_01]: And with Nebraska, we saw S.R.S.
28:12
[SPEAKER_01]: distribution last Vegas ball, Jade Mayava, and,
28:16
[SPEAKER_01]: that is a disaster.
28:18
[SPEAKER_01]: If you get the first three quarters of SRS, just to reach in Las Vegas, but by all of it, right?
28:23
[SPEAKER_01]: So, if that continues, if there is a book out in the Big Ten on this is how you shut down this U.S.E.
28:31
[SPEAKER_01]: defense, a U.S.E.
28:32
[SPEAKER_01]: offense with myovic quarterback, and without their top two running backs, and an offensive line that is down a couple of guys, potentially down three starters,
28:45
[SPEAKER_01]: Absolutely, there could be, you know, on a short week, there's a million different reasons why this could be one of those funky weeks for the offense.
28:56
[SPEAKER_01]: Again, I do wonder if it helps that they were funky last week.
29:01
[SPEAKER_01]: Is that the wakeup call?
29:03
[SPEAKER_02]: Well, you've got a whole thing to wake up call for my other.
29:06
[SPEAKER_01]: Right, there's that help to turn from the trap side of it on offense.
29:10
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, maybe.
29:11
[SPEAKER_02]: And certainly coming home helps that element.
29:16
[SPEAKER_02]: My Ava being so unchar... For this season, uncharacteristically shaky in the past two games, they've been on the road, so you can sort of account for that.
29:29
[SPEAKER_02]: You would expect him to come back home and be more accurate and make better decisions and be able to lead.
29:36
[SPEAKER_02]: the offense better and you I guess you do have the concern now that the brought that North Western's past defense is their strength they're good on in terms of defending the past almost as like a collective like there's no one stand out db that's that's there and they don't really like
30:06
[SPEAKER_02]: getting into the backfields and making life difficult for the quarterback either so that doesn't account for their the the strength of their passing defense and they rank you know 30th nationally and in past efficiency defense so with the they allow a quarterback rating 118
30:23
[SPEAKER_02]: pretty damn good.
30:24
[SPEAKER_02]: So and it's interesting because like they seem to be greater than the some of their parts if you look at the individuals that are out there like you know cornerback Fred Davis the second has you know six pass breakups this season but you know he's not particularly highly rated in in PFF at 67.0.
30:46
[SPEAKER_02]: Do we know?
30:47
[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think so.
30:49
[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think so.
30:50
[SPEAKER_02]: I feel like that would be a much bigger storyline.
30:53
[SPEAKER_02]: But I will admit I didn't check it.
30:57
[SPEAKER_02]: It would say it in his bio, absolutely.
30:59
[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
31:00
[SPEAKER_01]: The age checks out.
31:02
[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, but it would say it in his bio.
31:04
[SPEAKER_02]: There's no way they would neglect to mention unless he doesn't have a good relationship with
31:10
[SPEAKER_01]: you know, but that's still gets meant we we know the time is back banner and whatnot.
31:14
[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, yeah, so I don't know either way for a day was you know is that they're they're top corner or a a di a is questionable with an injury he's their second corner.
31:27
[SPEAKER_02]: I was brother.
31:28
[SPEAKER_02]: Is it?
31:29
[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, okay.
31:30
[SPEAKER_02]: Cool.
31:30
[SPEAKER_02]: And then their safety, Robert Fitzgerald is having a pretty good year at 72.6 PFF rating.
31:38
[SPEAKER_02]: I think he leads the team in tackles, which is not always a good sign for the overall defense.
31:44
[SPEAKER_02]: But I think the secondary, like there's no one player in particular that stands out.
31:50
[SPEAKER_02]: They just seem to do a pretty good job playing against.
31:55
[SPEAKER_02]: playing as passing teams.
31:57
[SPEAKER_02]: It is notable, I think, that they have their middle linebacker is six nationally in in our sessions.
32:03
[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, four in our sessions this year.
32:05
[SPEAKER_02]: So the linebackers are doing their part in terms of.
32:09
[SPEAKER_01]: In fact, grew to get, grew to get asked.
32:11
[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, that's Mac.
32:14
[SPEAKER_02]: Mac, you a line.
32:16
[SPEAKER_02]: Is it that simple?
32:18
[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe, is his name?
32:20
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
32:21
[SPEAKER_02]: So, yeah, I just think that the scheme seems to be working for them in terms of past defense.
32:27
[SPEAKER_02]: And so, is this another situation where USC's receivers who have had a rough time of it recently are going to find it hard to get open.
32:34
[SPEAKER_02]: And is that going to get into the drain my obus head?
32:37
[SPEAKER_02]: That's if I can pinpoint one area for USC going into this game for USC's
32:50
[SPEAKER_02]: the offense has lost confidence in their passing offense, if the receivers are sort of shaken or been found out, or whatever, and my ava no longer feels comfortable because his receivers aren't getting open, then that could sort of spiral, I suppose.
33:09
[SPEAKER_02]: But then again, you know, last week,
33:11
[SPEAKER_02]: We talked about the question of did USC commit to the run.
33:15
[SPEAKER_02]: I would have commit to the run more, but I will certainly say they didn't abandon the run at any point.
33:21
[SPEAKER_02]: They were willing to hand the ball off.
33:23
[SPEAKER_02]: And that's a point for this Northwestern defense where they are vulnerable like Nebraska was where you would expect USC to be able to go out there even with Alonny Noah injured.
33:35
[SPEAKER_02]: You would expect USC to be able to go out there and find some grounds and find some
33:41
[SPEAKER_02]: So it's a, it's a, it's a matchup where I sort of can imagine and vision where things could go wrong, but it's also like, it's, it's, it's certainly not something that feels super realistic.
33:54
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
33:55
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, no, I, I, I'm with you.
33:58
[SPEAKER_01]: I, I'm with you.
33:58
[SPEAKER_01]: This, just in so many different areas, this is a game in which Bessie does their job takes care of their own business.
34:06
[SPEAKER_01]: I, they, they should be fine.
34:08
[SPEAKER_01]: I think it, I think it helps the trick, like, William and the chances of being interested to see if the offense is just struggling or we just played really bad on the road, because I feel like either it's possible.
34:16
[SPEAKER_01]: 100%, especially when you look at S C's performances on the turf at the Colosseum against big 10 teams.
34:29
[SPEAKER_01]: There only losses the last two seasons at home are against teams that were highly ranked top five teams, Penn State and Notre Dame, two teams that they took to the wire that they were in the game with to the end or in overtime with, in terms of Penn State, the games in which they had
34:50
[SPEAKER_01]: talent advantages in which teams were somewhat limited in various areas, Wisconsin, Rutgers, Nebraska last year, Michigan State this year, SC won those games.
35:06
[SPEAKER_01]: So this is in line with one of those games.
35:09
[SPEAKER_01]: So as long as you continue to do your thing, the trend is that SC wins these games at home.
35:15
[SPEAKER_01]: And they do enough on offense, and they do enough on defense.
35:19
[SPEAKER_01]: And even if it's not the prettiest game I've ever seen, like the Rutgers game last year, for example, or the Michigan State game this year.
35:29
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
35:29
[SPEAKER_01]: Like, SC truly has not been threatened in those games.
35:35
[SPEAKER_01]: Say, for maybe the Nebraska game last year.
35:40
[SPEAKER_01]: I think that's comforting to know that the home road splits benefit SC in the game like this because if this game was on the road.
35:50
[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, we'd be talking about upset special.
35:52
[SPEAKER_01]: Big time the test game was on the road.
35:53
[SPEAKER_01]: Absolutely.
35:54
[SPEAKER_01]: Absolutely terrifying for the Trojans on the road.
35:57
[SPEAKER_02]: Yes.
35:58
[SPEAKER_02]: But back at home, it sort of takes some of that that the sharpness away in terms of that anxiety.
36:04
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
36:04
[SPEAKER_02]: The other thing is, you know, the last two performances for my other have come.
36:08
[SPEAKER_02]: not just on the road, but in tough weather, you know, I think Notre Dame game was obviously rainy and and rough weather.
36:16
[SPEAKER_02]: North Western was cold.
36:18
[SPEAKER_02]: I believe the like forecast was like 45.
36:20
[SPEAKER_02]: Sorry, yeah, Nebraska was like 45.
36:23
[SPEAKER_02]: Now, it will be this game will be kicking off under the lights.
36:27
[SPEAKER_02]: And I'm not saying that like California cold is anywhere close to, you know,
36:33
[SPEAKER_01]: Nebraska cold, but I will take it to my grave that California cold.
36:39
[SPEAKER_02]: It's different because we aren't we don't have underrated that California cold is very underrated because we don't own the proper I got the comparison like clothing for dealing with cold California cold is similar to Pacific Northwest heat or British heat.
36:58
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, British heat is a good example.
36:59
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, where it's like, it doesn't 90 degrees in the paper.
37:04
[SPEAKER_01]: It looks, you look like an absolute weirdo for thinking that 82 is a, is scorching.
37:12
[SPEAKER_02]: Yes.
37:13
[SPEAKER_01]: But then you realize that none of those buildings are built for, for that weather.
37:18
[SPEAKER_01]: Um, and then here when you add in the, you know, the, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, wind from, from the, Well, the chill, the coastal chill, uh, is certainly something.
37:31
[SPEAKER_02]: But again, I'm not saying that like, it's comparable.
37:34
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
37:35
[SPEAKER_02]: It will be warmer than it was in Nebraska, but it weren't exactly be like, you know, Hey, we've always said the cool scheme we've ever been at.
37:42
[SPEAKER_02]: What's frickin' San Diego?
37:43
[SPEAKER_01]: San Diego.
37:44
[SPEAKER_02]: Well, he's losing the call this was with the call this winner I ever had was a summer in San Francisco.
37:50
[SPEAKER_02]: That's right.
37:52
[SPEAKER_02]: which is bullied like that's because it's sober and you don't think to yourself I need warm clothes and then you stand around in San Francisco and realize why is this place so freaking cold yeah that's that's exactly it so all of this is to say like that it will be a little chilly but it certainly won't be 45 degrees like you know so hopefully that's helping him and it will be there's no rain or anything like that there's no
38:21
[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, he's from Hawaii, so California's basically Siberian for him, yeah, I mean, yeah.
38:32
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, Mr.
38:33
[SPEAKER_01]: Pieces and Las Vegas is all hot weather.
38:37
[SPEAKER_02]: But okay, here's the thing about Vegas.
38:38
[SPEAKER_01]: Here's here's my biggest is not extremely hot or cold or freezing.
38:43
[SPEAKER_01]: No, they have no spring and no fall.
38:45
[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, but also I will maintain forever that one of the coldest weeks I've ever spent was in Austin, Texas when my brother had a volleyball tournament at whatever it was in like the convention center in Austin and it was the middle of summer and it was hot as hell outside and then we walked inside the convention center and spent eight hours of the day inside the convention center
39:15
[SPEAKER_02]: freezing our asses off, it's different.
39:23
[SPEAKER_02]: It's different.
39:26
[SPEAKER_02]: Those hot weather places, you know, also like Arizona, they almost overcompensate the air conditioning.
39:35
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, all right, let's get to over under, shall we?
39:42
[SPEAKER_03]: I think you're going over.
39:43
[SPEAKER_03]: I think we're bold.
39:44
[SPEAKER_03]: Give me that over.
39:45
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm going.
39:45
[SPEAKER_00]: I've got to take it under here.
39:46
[SPEAKER_00]: I've got three hundred to take.
39:47
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to do an under here.
39:50
[SPEAKER_02]: All right.
39:50
[SPEAKER_02]: A chat.
39:51
[SPEAKER_02]: If you are having audio issues, please let us know.
39:54
[SPEAKER_02]: One person mentioned it.
39:56
[SPEAKER_02]: But let's see if if there's more people.
39:59
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
39:59
[SPEAKER_01]: And in the chat, it's three here.
40:00
[SPEAKER_01]: Every tenth word now.
40:01
[SPEAKER_01]: Lisa started talking.
40:02
[SPEAKER_01]: She's also cutting out.
40:03
[SPEAKER_01]: It's not good, no bueno, no, um, we're not seeing anything on our rent.
40:09
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, so let's um, if it's, if this is a me talking over a leaky issue, fair enough, fair enough, because, you know, I tend to do that.
40:19
[SPEAKER_01]: Absolutely.
40:20
[SPEAKER_01]: All right, let's go to over under first one,
40:31
[SPEAKER_01]: That's their average.
40:33
[SPEAKER_01]: Bucks 72.4 is their average to be specific.
40:36
[SPEAKER_01]: S.C. held Notre Dame to 136.
40:38
[SPEAKER_01]: They held Nebraska to 98.
40:41
[SPEAKER_01]: Completely different situations.
40:42
[SPEAKER_01]: One of them was in the rain.
40:44
[SPEAKER_01]: And in a game in which Notre Dame could just run at every freaking down.
40:49
[SPEAKER_01]: And the other one was a game in which Dillorella got hurt early in the third quarter.
40:55
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and they stopped there on the ball.
40:58
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
40:58
[SPEAKER_01]: So 172.
41:00
[SPEAKER_01]: 0.5, over under.
41:05
[SPEAKER_02]: I
41:06
[SPEAKER_02]: I'm going to go over, I don't have a lot of faith in Preston's stone, but I also don't have a lot of faith in USC's past defense.
41:15
[SPEAKER_02]: And I do think that USC will probably come into this game with the mentality that they did against Michigan, which is to say that you do what you can to stop the run and hope that you force the quarterback to have to throw and in doing so, I do think that the
41:33
[SPEAKER_02]: will have you know a few plays I think here and there I think the U.S. defense at this point if they can play a clean game I would love that but realistically we know what this defense is and we know that it is more likely that they have a breakdown or two that results in you know a chunk play than not so I'll take that over.
41:51
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah I think that's fair I'm still going to lean under I think that
41:57
[SPEAKER_01]: This is a game in which Northwestern plays a lot of bulk drill, which means fewer plays in the game overall.
42:04
[SPEAKER_01]: So give me the under there, plus they're going to be, they're going to want to run after seeing the film for the last two weeks that you can run on this SC defense.
42:15
[SPEAKER_01]: So I just think that's going to be there, they're focused there.
42:18
[SPEAKER_01]: So under on Northwestern passing yards for me, next one, over under 0.5 pressed and stone
42:26
[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, since throwing four against two lane early on in the season, uh, he's thrown five and seven games.
42:34
[SPEAKER_01]: Last two games are his first, with back-to-back interceptions he threw two against Nebraska, one against Purdue the week before that, uh, mean meanwhile, by the way, side note, Jade might have a four straight games with an interception.
42:48
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, after going starting the first, starting the season with four games without interception.
42:53
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, but Preston's that 0.5 interceptions, you know, again, um, I Um, I just shared the over underlink and wow, that's a long and unsatisfying link.
43:09
[SPEAKER_02]: Sorry.
43:10
[SPEAKER_02]: Um,
43:11
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I'm I'm kind of torn here.
43:13
[SPEAKER_02]: Like I think the USC's defense has been pretty opportunistic.
43:16
[SPEAKER_02]: We know that Bishop Fitzgerald has come through with with his intersections, you know that like Eric Gentry is always a possibility of, you know, sniping one.
43:29
[SPEAKER_02]: I don't necessarily like
43:34
[SPEAKER_02]: predicting like turnovers to to happen like they're a guarantee or something like that.
43:41
[SPEAKER_02]: But I do think that that USC will look to unsettle press and so I'm just a little bit.
43:47
[SPEAKER_02]: So yeah, I'll take that over.
43:49
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I'll take the other two.
43:51
[SPEAKER_01]: I a Bishop Fitzgerald absolutely do for another pick, right?
43:57
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, or any of the any of the corners, you know, like it's I
44:02
[SPEAKER_01]: Where my hesitation here is I just don't expect a lot of passing game opportunity.
44:08
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, there will be a lot of it's own Western and I hate 0.5s just because they're so stressful on that.
44:15
[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, but I am going to take the over.
44:18
[SPEAKER_01]: I think one is fair.
44:20
[SPEAKER_01]: One is fair.
44:22
[SPEAKER_01]: Mississippi and the chances were there any Friday games last year.
44:24
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, Rutgers.
44:25
[SPEAKER_01]: Rutgers was the
44:27
[SPEAKER_01]: uh... let's go to the next one uh... sixty two point five jade my other completion percentage he was at thirty nine point one against nabraska yikes uh... that's his career low previous career low was fifty one point seven uh... two games he had for you and lv's previous loathessie was fifty two point four against that are they he would have been lower than that in the s rs distribution last very small but
44:55
[SPEAKER_01]: You were like really good in the fourth quarter.
44:56
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
44:57
[SPEAKER_01]: Raised his percentage.
44:58
[SPEAKER_02]: The last three games last year with him.
45:00
[SPEAKER_02]: He was completing sort of in the range of 54% of his passes.
45:05
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
45:05
[SPEAKER_02]: Which is why we talked about him the way that we did coming into the season.
45:09
[SPEAKER_02]: You know, he's, I think.
45:10
[SPEAKER_02]: I think it's we shouldn't stop talking about how much of a more stable quarterback he's been.
45:15
[SPEAKER_02]: These last two performances have sort of shaken that perception of him, but it's entirely possible as we talked about that that had a lot to do with the on the road that had a lot to do with weather.
45:25
[SPEAKER_02]: So this is his opportunity to sort of show us that no, the Jade Mayava over the last two weeks was the apparition that the Jade Mayava that we saw the first four weeks is closer to.
45:36
[SPEAKER_02]: the reality for him, 39% is horrific, I would hope that USC, if nothing else goes into this game with the express plan of rebuilding his confidence, with setting up some easy completions for him, with asking, with doing more
45:58
[SPEAKER_02]: to adjust to a reality where maybe your receivers aren't our double coverer or taking other options here or there.
46:06
[SPEAKER_02]: So I'm going to take the over here just because I think USC will focus on that a little bit.
46:12
[SPEAKER_02]: But I will say like Northwestern has done a good job of
46:16
[SPEAKER_02]: making it difficult for quarter X complete their passes.
46:20
[SPEAKER_02]: So, you know, it's certainly not a given that my Apple will be above 60% if you continue to target receivers that are double covered and or Mrs. Badley as he has over the last two weeks.
46:34
[SPEAKER_01]: At four of their opponents, they held to under 60, including Purdue, who is a team that we've seen like St. Thur the ball around.
46:41
[SPEAKER_01]: So, um, well, I obviously was that season average is 65.3, which would be the over, but I'm going to take the under.
46:47
[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, I need to see one more game.
46:50
[SPEAKER_01]: of him bouncing back in order for me to ride with an over like this.
46:57
[SPEAKER_01]: I'll take the under there.
46:59
[SPEAKER_01]: Let's go to the next one, King Miller, 17 and a half carries.
47:05
[SPEAKER_01]: King Miller carries.
47:08
[SPEAKER_01]: This is weird, but he said exactly 18 carries in each of the last three games, 18 for 150 yards against Michigan, 18 for 70 yards against Notre Dame, 18 for Buck 29 against Nebraska.
47:24
[SPEAKER_01]: Here we go, 17 and a half.
47:27
[SPEAKER_01]: Does he get to 18 yet again?
47:31
[SPEAKER_02]: I just think I just saw
47:39
[SPEAKER_02]: I would love for this to be a situation where USC hands in the ball 20 times.
47:45
[SPEAKER_02]: Sure.
47:45
[SPEAKER_02]: I would also love it for it to be not that situation because there's sort of a world in which King Miller gets like 15 carries and then the games over and they're, you know, having Harry Dalton or Brian Jackson sort of carry the load and he gets some much native rest after the weeks that he's had.
48:05
[SPEAKER_02]: So I'm going to take the under in hope of that, but like King Miller has proven that he can be the the guy for USC and and I would hope that they continue to use him like that.
48:19
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I'm going to take the over.
48:20
[SPEAKER_01]: I just think that like he just seems like he's the 15 to 20 guy and leaning towards 18 because that's literally where he's been the last three weeks.
48:30
[SPEAKER_01]: So I'll take the over.
48:35
[SPEAKER_01]: There's not really that many options besides him right now with Jackson being still sort of dinged up and playing not at 100% and then Harry Dalton being a true freshman.
48:46
[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm taking the over there.
48:49
[SPEAKER_01]: Let's get to the next one, which is 17 and a half again.
48:54
[SPEAKER_01]: Northwestern points.
48:57
[SPEAKER_01]: Northwestern is averaging 15.3 on the road.
49:00
[SPEAKER_01]: They're averaging 18.6 in Big Ten play.
49:03
[SPEAKER_01]: S.E.
49:03
[SPEAKER_01]: just allowed 17 to Nebraska last week.
49:08
[SPEAKER_01]: S.E.
49:08
[SPEAKER_01]: is averaging
49:10
[SPEAKER_01]: 19.3 points allowed at home.
49:13
[SPEAKER_01]: They held Michigan to 13.
49:15
[SPEAKER_01]: The FBI projection is 18.
49:18
[SPEAKER_01]: And the SP plus projection is 17.
49:21
[SPEAKER_01]: So 17.5 split the difference between FBI and SP plus.
49:26
[SPEAKER_02]: I'm smashing this over.
49:27
[SPEAKER_02]: You as his defense can make a full of me.
49:30
[SPEAKER_02]: I would be very happy for them to do so, but they have not earned my trust in the slightest.
49:36
[SPEAKER_02]: If we end up with another Michigan, then by all means, that will be wonderful, but I'm not betting on that.
49:46
[SPEAKER_02]: I'm smashing this over until proven otherwise.
49:49
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm taking the under.
49:50
[SPEAKER_01]: It's a Friday night.
49:51
[SPEAKER_01]: This is going to be a nightly game.
49:53
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm taking the under.
49:56
[SPEAKER_01]: In a perfect world, given S.E.'
49:58
[SPEAKER_01]: 's talent advantage, given that they're back home, given that they have the advantage of playing a team on a Friday night, even though with questions coming off of the buy, they have a quarterback who was in the Heisman race.
50:12
[SPEAKER_01]: It's like no longer in the Heisman race, but has that ability.
50:15
[SPEAKER_01]: There's all these reasons here to hope that this is a game where S.E.
50:19
[SPEAKER_01]: gets right in a wins a game 45-13 or something like that.
50:24
[SPEAKER_01]: I think that's going to be the case.
50:25
[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know.
50:26
[SPEAKER_02]: That's what this team needs to be honest, you know, we come into this game.
50:29
[SPEAKER_01]: It would boost your spot on the roto meter for sure.
50:34
[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, definitely.
50:35
[SPEAKER_02]: And it would boost, you know, there's a sort of low key, low key,
50:41
[SPEAKER_02]: situation.
50:43
[SPEAKER_02]: Looking ahead where USC has Iowa and Oregon and UCLA to finish out the season.
50:52
[SPEAKER_02]: And this is their last quote unquote easy matchup.
50:56
[SPEAKER_02]: If you struggle with Northwestern and again, we can always give the oh, it's a Friday night after a road thing blah blah blah.
51:03
[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not, I just don't feel like giving that excuse at the moment because it doesn't feel
51:09
[SPEAKER_02]: like it answers all of the other questions that have happened every like sure it can't be the it can't be the excuse every time suddenly is sometimes it just is what you are um... if you struggle with northwestern we are talking about Iowa
51:22
[SPEAKER_02]: especially if Iowa gives Oregon a game and lead the world with western much better north western yes uh... we're talking about i was a as a as a worry if we're talking about i was a worry we have to start talking about what we already are starting start talking about you see a as a worry and we already know what we feel about Oregon so uh... you know i think this we saw you as the finish the season strong last year
51:46
[SPEAKER_02]: And I think that USC needs to show that they can do that again, even if that means losing to Oregon, you know, I think that the importance of going into this and not just beating Northwestern, like beating them handily.
52:00
[SPEAKER_02]: I don't want another even Michigan state like where you won handily, but it was sort of, I don't, that game didn't feel super satisfying.
52:10
[SPEAKER_02]: USC needs a satisfying win.
52:13
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and to, you know, to get back on track here about this just being the over under of Northwestern's points.
52:20
[SPEAKER_01]: Like, I guess what I'm saying is like, regardless of what SC does, I just think that this will be a low scoring performance from Northwestern because I just think this will be just an ugly Friday night game in which there's not a lot of points.
52:37
[SPEAKER_01]: Overall, I'd be taking the under on the total points.
52:40
[SPEAKER_01]: I'd be taking the under on S-C's scores, like everything, and I'm taking the under in that sense.
52:47
[SPEAKER_01]: But I agree with you, in a perfect situation.
52:50
[SPEAKER_01]: you get the over on the under on this and you get the over on on total points because S.C. you know, flexes their muscles and all that kind of stuff.
52:58
[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm taking the under you're taking the over on 17 and a half.
53:02
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
53:02
[SPEAKER_01]: No question points.
53:03
[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
53:04
[SPEAKER_01]: It's good to last one, which is one and a half USC Sacks.
53:12
[SPEAKER_01]: We keep having sacks on here, and S.C. is not a had a lot of success there.
53:18
[SPEAKER_01]: Northwestern hasn't allowed a sacks since October 11th against Penn State to sacks the nearly Lions had against the Wildcats.
53:28
[SPEAKER_01]: Purdue, zero, Nebraska, zero, ULM, zero.
53:33
[SPEAKER_01]: UCLA had to, Oregon had to, to lane had three way back in week one.
53:38
[SPEAKER_01]: SC's defense, 22 Sax, but only one each and three of their last four games.
53:44
[SPEAKER_01]: The Michigan game they did have three, albeit against a freshman quarterback who was kinda desperate at times.
53:52
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, and who we sort of predicted might be kind of desperate at times, and the, you know, I will say Preston Stone is not a great quarterback, but he's certainly more better and then, then, Bryce Underwood, and he's shown the combined propensity for this offense from the offensive line to the quarterback is that they don't, they don't give up the sack, that they protect the down and distance, I suppose, in, in some sense.
54:19
[SPEAKER_02]: You know, I think that we're looking at USC's past Russian, uh, I don't know about everyone else, but I'm still a little bit underwhelmed, most of the time, um, I would just like to see more in general from that entire unit.
54:34
[SPEAKER_02]: Sure.
54:34
[SPEAKER_02]: the edges, the the interior guys, the blitzing linebackers, you know, all of that.
54:40
[SPEAKER_02]: I'd like to see more havoc created from from USC guys.
54:45
[SPEAKER_02]: I'd like to see guys winning their one-on-one battles more often.
54:49
[SPEAKER_02]: USC having to scheme their way into pressure is not, does not help the pasty fence or anything else.
54:58
[UNKNOWN]: So
54:58
[SPEAKER_02]: This is a, this is a test.
54:59
[SPEAKER_02]: This is an interesting one because I do not think sacks are, they're certainly not given against this offense.
55:04
[SPEAKER_02]: So if you're able to break through for two or three, like that's a sign that you're, you're winning some of those battles that you're doing as individuals, you're getting, you're getting the job done in a way that it feels like, you know, Illinois, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, Nebraska.
55:20
[SPEAKER_02]: I just felt like, okay, yeah, they, they, they
55:26
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I want to buy into this.
55:29
[SPEAKER_01]: I want to be able to sit here and say that this is an over for me.
55:33
[SPEAKER_01]: I go back to the amount of completion of percentage.
55:36
[SPEAKER_01]: I think I need to be proven that it's where I should lean first.
55:41
[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm going to take the under.
55:42
[SPEAKER_01]: I think that if recent history says it'll get one, show me three.
55:53
[SPEAKER_01]: Even two.
55:53
[SPEAKER_01]: Sure.
55:54
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
55:54
[SPEAKER_01]: I just think that most of my students are going through the ball that much.
55:57
[SPEAKER_01]: So, yeah.
55:57
[SPEAKER_01]: That's where I sort of lean that way.
56:00
[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
56:02
[SPEAKER_01]: Let's get into game predictions.
56:05
[SPEAKER_01]: Of course, you can join us doing the over-under picks.
56:09
[SPEAKER_01]: Click the link that's in the show notes and the doobly-doo, all of that.
56:12
[SPEAKER_01]: And join us.
56:15
[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you, spread.
56:15
[SPEAKER_01]: It has ST by 14.
56:21
[SPEAKER_01]: I, I feel about this the way I think I feel about the note, the Notre Dame line in the sense of like that feels huge because the Notre Dame line was about nine and a half, ten whatever it was, I don't have feels huge at the same time.
56:36
[SPEAKER_01]: If Notre Dame won that game comfortably, they were going to win by double digits, right?
56:42
[SPEAKER_01]: If SC wins this game comfortably, wins this game like they theoretically should, they should be winning my two scores, two touch dance.
56:52
[SPEAKER_01]: So that part makes sense.
56:56
[SPEAKER_01]: It's just a scary line at 14 points to me.
56:59
[SPEAKER_01]: The FBI projection is 36, 18.
57:01
[SPEAKER_01]: I think SB plus was 35, 17.
57:03
[SPEAKER_01]: So it's all about sort of the same spot, are you?
57:09
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I'm...
57:12
[SPEAKER_02]: I'm going U.S.C.
57:13
[SPEAKER_02]: 37 north-western 24.
57:16
[SPEAKER_02]: I'm having a U.S.C.
57:18
[SPEAKER_02]: not cover but only just because like you 14 is just a lot and I don't know that I trust U.S.C.
57:25
[SPEAKER_02]: is often to play clean enough long enough and I don't trust U.S.C.
57:29
[SPEAKER_02]: defense to play clean enough long enough as well but this is a game the U.S. he should win.
57:35
[SPEAKER_02]: I'm open to the idea of like a ugly Friday night game on a short week, but this is still a US, this is a game that USC has to be able to win relatively comfortably.
57:47
[SPEAKER_02]: Even if it's ugly, you still have to be able to win this game relatively comfortably if you want to sort of be aiming for the range that you are for this season.
57:56
[SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, I think surviving advance, given how
58:03
[SPEAKER_01]: Absolutely is a viable way to look at road performances, yes, there were a lot of frustrations against in the Nebraska game, but at some point you got to just win one of those and they did.
58:15
[SPEAKER_01]: And because of that, that's a past on a past fail, right?
58:20
[SPEAKER_01]: At home, I think their style point and that's the kind of thing do factor in here a little bit more because SE is more comfortable playing at home, they're more successful playing at home.
58:30
[SPEAKER_01]: They have more ability to play at home.
58:33
[SPEAKER_01]: All of this stuff should allow us to be more critical of what SE puts on the field at home.
58:41
[SPEAKER_01]: In a perfect situation, again, like I said earlier, this is a 45-13 win in which they flex their muscles.
58:48
[SPEAKER_01]: I just don't see that.
58:50
[SPEAKER_01]: I just see this as a typical sort of ugly-ish, big-10 game, especially with it being on a Friday night.
58:57
[SPEAKER_01]: 2016 is where I met SC does not cover, but they win 2016, and then the question becomes, what is that?
59:05
[SPEAKER_01]: 2016.
59:07
[SPEAKER_01]: Is it a 2016 where Northwestern scores on the last play of the game, and it was 26 to 10, and SC had full control of the entire game, and they didn't score a lot of touchdowns, but it was never in doubt, kind of situation, or is it a 2016 in which SC leaves a million points on the field, and it feels like all the field goals they got could have been touch
59:37
[SPEAKER_01]: That's where I'm at 26, 16.
59:39
[SPEAKER_02]: Aliim says I could see USC win by double.
59:41
[SPEAKER_02]: There's isn't digits and still look kind of bad.
59:43
[SPEAKER_02]: What does that tell this team does?
59:45
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, that could be the Purdue game, right?
59:46
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
59:47
[SPEAKER_01]: The Purdue game on paper was never really endowed.
59:51
[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
59:51
[SPEAKER_01]: I guess it got weird a little bit.
59:53
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
59:54
[SPEAKER_01]: But like they still won that game 33, 17, right?
59:56
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
59:58
[SPEAKER_01]: I could see I could see a home version of that Purdue game, in which
1:00:04
[SPEAKER_01]: SC moves the ball relatively well, but struggles to get into the end zone.
1:00:08
[SPEAKER_01]: Northwestern has their moments, but at the same time, their limitations sort of prevent them from truly taking advantage of those, FC wins by double digits.
1:00:19
[SPEAKER_01]: It's a game where you wish you could have seen more of it at the same time.
1:00:23
[SPEAKER_01]: You're walking away thinking, yeah, but the game never truly was in doubt.
1:00:27
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, if you're going to lose ugly, if you're going to lose ugly, lose ugly by- Yeah.
1:00:30
[SPEAKER_01]: That's a good way to lose ugly.
1:00:32
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, like lose ugly by multiple possessions, you know?
1:00:35
[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
1:00:36
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
1:00:36
[SPEAKER_01]: Um, yeah, uh, all right, let's get to the mail bag, shall we?
1:00:44
[SPEAKER_02]: All right, I, I am going to cut in here and ask my own mail bag question.
1:00:49
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, you've got mail.
1:00:53
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, um, I don't know if you've heard, but Notre Dame and Auburn agreed to a home in 2027 and 2028.
1:01:03
[SPEAKER_02]: So I was taking a look at Notre Dame's future schedules and starting to get a little bit worried because their spots are filling up and they're filling up pretty well.
1:01:21
[SPEAKER_02]: Like there's this argument that USC fans have that like Notre Dame needs USC more than USC needs Notre Dame because Notre Dame schedule is weak.
1:01:33
[SPEAKER_02]: I would encourage anybody who thinks that Notre Dame schedule is week to look at their 2026, 2027 and 2028 schedules and beyond because they are very aggressively scheduling.
1:01:47
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
1:01:47
[SPEAKER_02]: They are aggressively scheduling power five teams.
1:01:50
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, the 25 schedule.
1:01:54
[SPEAKER_02]: With Miami and Texas A and F. And Arkansas.
1:01:57
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
1:01:58
[SPEAKER_01]: 2026.
1:02:00
[SPEAKER_01]: There's there's two.
1:02:02
[SPEAKER_01]: There's two teams that are not power four teams on that schedule.
1:02:08
[SPEAKER_01]: And it's Boise State and Navy.
1:02:11
[SPEAKER_01]: And as far as like group of five teams go, Boise State and Navy, probably two of the hardest you can possibly schedule.
1:02:19
[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, and one of those is a rivalry game in which they play over here and maybe anyways.
1:02:23
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, you know what I mean?
1:02:24
[SPEAKER_02]: Next year, they get Wisconsin Michigan State North Carolina Miami SMU Florida State and Syracuse.
1:02:32
[SPEAKER_02]: The year after that, they get the little just for the whole thing Purdue, Michigan State Auburn, Georgia Tech, Wake Forest, Virginia Tech, Clemson, Navy and Duke.
1:02:41
[SPEAKER_02]: The year after that, they get Texas Arkansas Purdue Auburn, Virginia Tech, Clemson, Navy, Boston College, Miami and Pitt.
1:02:49
[SPEAKER_02]: The year after that, they get Bama, USF, Texas, NC State, Georgia, Texas, Florida State, Wake Forest, Navy, Syracuse, Clemson, Lake.
1:02:57
[SPEAKER_02]: All I'm saying is that this idea that USC has all the leverage with Notre Dame, I think, is falling apart and whether or not this is Notre Dame now can continue to put the pressure on USC because they're one or two games away from completing these schedules without USC.
1:03:26
[SPEAKER_02]: 2027 already has a season opener against Purdue scheduled 2026 already has a season opener against Wisconsin scheduled so now you're having to negotiate a week zero game.
1:03:36
[SPEAKER_02]: I just this whole thing is just getting frustratingly funky and we probably shouldn't lose side of the fact that this feels like a game of chicken.
1:03:54
[SPEAKER_02]: that I worry Notre Dame might not blink as easily as people think they will.
1:04:02
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I talked about this after the Notre Dame game that I feel like I've been in denial about all of the stuff, just haven't been thinking about it either.
1:04:09
[SPEAKER_01]: Like, because there were a lot of national stuff that was like, is this the last that she noted again?
1:04:14
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, because there's there is not another game on the schedule.
1:04:17
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and and
1:04:19
[SPEAKER_01]: and like there were a lot of people just talking about like it's the last one like as in it just was the last one like like with no with no anticipation that there would be anything scheduled further my my naive like optimistic brain is like oh well they'll just still agree to at least a one-year deal and like uh it's like the f f one when they were threatened to leave spa well like all those just they'll just do something uh but like
1:04:47
[SPEAKER_01]: You can think those to the end of time, and then, yeah, when Penn needs to go to paper, you end up with an issue like this, 2027 for what it's worth.
1:04:59
[SPEAKER_01]: You mentioned that there's a week one game against Purdue.
1:05:03
[SPEAKER_01]: There's no middle of October home game.
1:05:07
[SPEAKER_01]: There is not for Notre Dame and no week zero.
1:05:11
[SPEAKER_01]: So like, the opportunity for Sierstil there.
1:05:16
[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, absolutely the opportunities for us here still there so Auburn an SEC team is not going to schedule a game against Notre Dame in the middle of September or the end of November They're just not Auburn the the 2020 game is October 28th at Auburn
1:05:42
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, this is one of those moments when I'm just pretty long to meet you, I'm just fair enough that I'm just saying that you see that's sort of shocking to me because I feel like you just you never sort of
1:05:55
[SPEAKER_01]: see that from an SEC team, right?
1:05:57
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
1:05:58
[SPEAKER_01]: The SEC team will play the ACC at the end of their season.
1:06:02
[SPEAKER_01]: But those are just rivalry games, that's, you know, South Carolina Clemson, Florida Florida State Georgia Sheriff's Tech, like those kind of things.
1:06:10
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it is rare to see the an SEC team go sort of off Canberra that way.
1:06:17
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I don't know.
1:06:19
[SPEAKER_01]: We'll see, again, the chat says I think the decision has been made for a move Notre Dame from our schedule and it just hasn't been announced.
1:06:25
[SPEAKER_01]: I will say this.
1:06:27
[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think there will be a decision that is ever announced.
1:06:31
[SPEAKER_02]: You think you think Notre Dame will fill their 12th game and that will be our indication.
1:06:37
[SPEAKER_01]: I think the most likely scenario is that things will just be filled.
1:06:43
[SPEAKER_01]: And it will be like, oh, the schedule is full.
1:06:47
[SPEAKER_01]: There is no room for anything else here.
1:06:51
[SPEAKER_01]: Does that make sense?
1:06:51
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
1:06:52
[SPEAKER_01]: Like that's that's sort of how I see it going down.
1:06:57
[SPEAKER_02]: So All right.
1:06:58
[SPEAKER_02]: Well, it's got to I mean, it's got to be resolved quickly because the big 10 schedule um Did it It came out in December.
1:07:10
[SPEAKER_02]: So like the clock is ticking.
1:07:13
[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, obviously they don't always do it at the same time every year, but
1:07:17
[SPEAKER_01]: I, I just wonder if it's one of those things where the big-temgest leaves that they leave say.
1:07:22
[SPEAKER_01]: The 2025 football schedule was announced on December 11, okay.
1:07:23
[SPEAKER_01]: So it could be one of those things where S.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.
1:07:34
[SPEAKER_01]: Um, yeah.
1:07:36
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, I mean, next year's going to be at home anyways.
1:07:38
[SPEAKER_01]: So it would, it would, it would matter of when the, the, the, you see a like him is, then it would be a question of would the big ten do the thing that the pack 12 is done, where they leave the last last season open.
1:07:51
[SPEAKER_01]: Um, and so if the game gets scheduled, it slaps in.
1:07:56
[SPEAKER_01]: And if it does, it will as he just has no
1:08:05
[SPEAKER_01]: Or if they just leave it open that way, and SC fills that game with Sacramento State playing their first FPS game or whatever, yes, you know what I mean?
1:08:15
[SPEAKER_01]: So, I don't know.
1:08:16
[SPEAKER_01]: Yep.
1:08:16
[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
1:08:16
[SPEAKER_01]: We got a bunch of comments on our last episode.
1:08:23
[SPEAKER_01]: Mostly about the things that we went unhinged on, talking about completely off-topic stuff, like baseball.
1:08:31
[SPEAKER_01]: Cameron says here in Ukraine about the Dodgers oh my god chef's kids love it That's fat we're absolutely haters absolutely
1:08:41
[SPEAKER_01]: There was another come here goes from John that says, in a world in which Michael's food takes exists, he's 2020 World Series take is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard.
1:08:52
[SPEAKER_01]: If the Cubs had won in 2020, he would be wearing a Cubs World Series 2020 Champs T-shirt to bed every night.
1:08:58
[SPEAKER_01]: The hypocrisy is overwhelming.
1:09:01
[SPEAKER_01]: First of all, right here is the 2016 World Series champions sweatshirt.
1:09:09
[SPEAKER_01]: There's two answers to this.
1:09:11
[SPEAKER_01]: One, it's not ridiculous in the sense that like I this is not an unpopular opinion if anything this is the popular opinion on the 2020
1:09:22
[SPEAKER_01]: world series.
1:09:23
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, because most baseball fans are also are not Dodger fans.
1:09:27
[SPEAKER_02]: There's a lot of Dodger fans, but like they are in the minority if you, if all of the other baseball fan bases combine, it's the same reason why everyone agrees on the 2020 cultural policies and not meaning anything.
1:09:40
[SPEAKER_02]: No, unlike, you know, everyone united in their hate of the Astros and it's what brings everyone to hate brings fans together.
1:09:46
[SPEAKER_01]: The other thing about the controversy.
1:09:49
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that's sports, right?
1:09:50
[SPEAKER_02]: Like, and this is always, that's all, that's all I want you to do.
1:09:55
[SPEAKER_02]: I just want you to acknowledge that this is your favorite knowledge.
1:09:58
[SPEAKER_01]: No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no,
1:10:07
[SPEAKER_01]: Kenny in the chat says I would claim that world series is my team one exactly yes yes yes just acknowledge that but me not doing it is not hatred it's hatred Michael no it's not hatred no it's not it's hatred the hypocrisy would be if it's your team you ignore it
1:10:26
[SPEAKER_01]: it's not a hypocrisy strictly based on hate or or not.
1:10:30
[SPEAKER_01]: Like the hypocrisy is that if it's your team, you don't care either you don't care or you ignore that thing.
1:10:37
[SPEAKER_02]: Like, we can see your team, it's a valid champion trip.
1:10:40
[SPEAKER_01]: If it's not, it's an unbeatable.
1:10:41
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, exactly.
1:10:42
[SPEAKER_02]: It matters if you win it.
1:10:44
[SPEAKER_01]: No matter if you win it, if you didn't, well, then everyone just talks about how useless it is.
1:10:48
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
1:10:49
[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, we're not we we are not getting into another 20 minute debate about this, but I'm just waiting when we still have mailbag stuff that's actually Right, I would claim that world series is my team one.
1:10:59
[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, but be everyone else would be right to call it fake.
1:11:04
[SPEAKER_01]: I agree Okay, yeah, I thoroughly agree with that.
1:11:07
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, they're really agree All right, um
1:11:13
[SPEAKER_01]: There was another comment there we got the the the winning against Nebraska's great road win for the team But it means nothing if you don't win out.
1:11:20
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, this is one of those things If you went out you look back in the Nebraska game and you say you're you're watching the end of season Watching the national championship blue tooth and you're like wow the metal that we showed on that night in Lincoln in the blackout like
1:11:39
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh my god, my oven didn't have it, but we thought we did all those things, absolutely that becomes the story.
1:11:46
[SPEAKER_02]: Mm-hmm.
1:11:47
[SPEAKER_02]: But it only becomes the story if you pay it off.
1:11:50
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah.
1:11:50
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm winning.
1:11:51
[SPEAKER_01]: You have to pay it off.
1:11:53
[SPEAKER_01]: You can't.
1:11:53
[SPEAKER_02]: Love it.
1:11:54
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
1:11:55
[SPEAKER_02]: I take back all the nice things I said about the Dodgers by the way, because I just saw a tweet from a Roshmokarzi, Marcosi that the Dodgers are favored to land boba-shet, and also in the mix for Kyle Tucker and Alex Freigman.
1:12:07
[SPEAKER_02]: Can y'all just stop?
1:12:09
[SPEAKER_02]: Just stop it.
1:12:12
[SPEAKER_02]: We did get it.
1:12:12
[SPEAKER_02]: We got a question.
1:12:15
[SPEAKER_02]: We got a question in the chat from Iggy said, question, do you think the buy week had anything to do with the offense of struggles?
1:12:21
[SPEAKER_02]: For me, the offense buttered due to my office struggles anyway, you could miss throws he did it.
1:12:27
[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think the buy week had anything to do with it.
1:12:30
[SPEAKER_02]: I think being on the road had something to do with it.
1:12:33
[SPEAKER_02]: And I think Nebraska's the quality of Nebraska's DBs had a lot to do with it because it was very clear that he was making bad decisions to throw into double coverage.
1:12:43
[SPEAKER_01]: And then he got in his head and just started winging it for putting up percentage points on everything, right?
1:12:49
[SPEAKER_01]: Like I think that
1:12:52
[SPEAKER_01]: Um, 45% of it is because it was tough for a game in general, 45% of it is because it was an Nebraska defense that played really well had a great game plan and it's really good against the paths.
1:13:07
[SPEAKER_01]: Um, and, well, hey, maybe 25% is because my, my, my, my, I've always susceptible to this.
1:13:14
[SPEAKER_01]: 20% is because it was on the road.
1:13:17
[SPEAKER_01]: 45% is because of Nebraska and Nebraska's past defense is good good good game plan Good execution all of that stuff And then the remaining 10% are just a bunch of very things.
1:13:31
[SPEAKER_01]: It was the blackout.
1:13:32
[SPEAKER_01]: It was a night game It was after the fight like that stuff is so negligible that it didn't does it actually
1:13:41
[SPEAKER_01]: Like, I don't think that those things weren't a factor.
1:13:45
[SPEAKER_01]: They just weren't a factor enough to undercut the other factors.
1:13:50
[SPEAKER_01]: You know what I mean?
1:13:51
[SPEAKER_01]: Which is A, S, C struggles on the road.
1:13:54
[SPEAKER_01]: B, my office always has this in his bag potentially.
1:13:59
[SPEAKER_01]: He has done a really good job of not showing it, not bringing this out.
1:14:04
[SPEAKER_01]: And C, Nebraska's past defense is just good.
1:14:08
[SPEAKER_01]: all those three things.
1:14:10
[SPEAKER_01]: Those are the main things.
1:14:11
[SPEAKER_01]: There's other reasons, but they don't undercut those, those made three reasons.
1:14:17
[SPEAKER_01]: I would say.
1:14:17
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
1:14:18
[SPEAKER_01]: So.
1:14:20
[SPEAKER_01]: All right, Ellie when chat says, um, if he lays an egg at home, does Riley move on from my ava, I think is why he was referring to.
1:14:29
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
1:14:30
[SPEAKER_02]: I can't see it unless it's like, unless it's so bad that he has to pull him during the game.
1:14:41
[SPEAKER_01]: I think the time to do it would have been after the Notre Dame game, but there wasn't enough reason to do it, because the time to do it was a by week situation.
1:14:54
[SPEAKER_01]: especially not on a short week going into Northwestern, not coming out either.
1:15:00
[SPEAKER_01]: And I think that Riley would end up taking on a lot of the blame himself for not counteracting those things in the sense that, like if the offense struggles again and there's a bad passing performance at some point,
1:15:19
[SPEAKER_01]: You have to rationalize it as, well, not even the freshman quarterback who has less of an arm is going to fix this, this is on us to fix schematically in all those other kind of things, right?
1:15:34
[SPEAKER_01]: I think it would have to be real bad for him to get benched at any point for the remainder of the season.
1:15:40
[SPEAKER_01]: The chances to do it would have been after Michigan from a logistical standpoint, after Michigan,
1:15:50
[SPEAKER_01]: Sorry, after Illinois, before Michigan or after Notre Dame, in other words, the two by weeks.
1:15:56
[SPEAKER_01]: It wasn't going to happen after Illinois because he was great at that point, and there was no sign of any issues.
1:16:02
[SPEAKER_01]: They had his mistakes against Illinois, were just mistakes that good teams make against good players.
1:16:08
[SPEAKER_01]: Like, you know what I mean?
1:16:09
[SPEAKER_01]: Like, there were no reason to do it.
1:16:11
[SPEAKER_01]: And then against Notre Dame, again, I think it's plenty of the same things.
1:16:16
[SPEAKER_01]: His mistakes against Notre Dame, I think we're more about Notre Dame's defense.
1:16:20
[SPEAKER_01]: He throws one interception that's bad, but also it's a rain game, how much that factored into it.
1:16:27
[SPEAKER_01]: His worst pass was a pass that was caught.
1:16:29
[SPEAKER_01]: So like, there were no reasons to do it.
1:16:34
[SPEAKER_01]: I think we've sailed on from the point of him ever getting benched the season.
1:16:39
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, like I said, it would need to be the kind of thing where it was so catastrophic that he got pulled long street came in and while he picked him.
1:16:47
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
1:16:49
[SPEAKER_02]: But yeah, you know, that's, that's a pretty extreme, extreme situation.
1:16:55
[SPEAKER_02]: By the way, I think that's Lamont in the chair.
1:16:57
[SPEAKER_02]: He did say it was Lamont.
1:16:58
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
1:16:59
[SPEAKER_01]: You're just done a thing where they keep changing.
1:17:02
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it's like they're now showing like your user name instead of your handle or vice versa, whichever way it goes.
1:17:09
[SPEAKER_02]: But S.J.
1:17:11
[SPEAKER_02]: Sanche is how I'm going to pronounce that.
1:17:14
[SPEAKER_02]: Is that a sense, Santa Barbara?
1:17:15
[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe, but I like S.J.
1:17:17
[SPEAKER_02]: Sanche.
1:17:19
[SPEAKER_02]: What are the chances we went out and make the playoff?
1:17:21
[SPEAKER_02]: Funny you should ask, because ESPN has their playoff predictor.
1:17:25
[SPEAKER_02]: And I have just plugged in U.S.s.
1:17:29
[SPEAKER_02]: U.S.
1:17:31
[SPEAKER_02]: I would like you to guess what U.S. he's highest rate of making the playoff.
1:17:37
[SPEAKER_01]: What do you mean by highest rate?
1:17:38
[SPEAKER_01]: Like.
1:17:41
[SPEAKER_01]: Like a surprise compared to a record?
1:17:45
[SPEAKER_02]: No, in a world where USC doesn't win the big ten and automatically get into the playoff forever.
1:17:55
[SPEAKER_02]: What is USC's highest percentage chance to make the playoff under any circumstances?
1:18:01
[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know what those circumstances are though.
1:18:05
[SPEAKER_01]: Because the only circumstances going is week and out.
1:18:07
[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, well tell me, tell me what
1:18:12
[SPEAKER_01]: They need a result to get a 9 and 3 team in SU's sense gets in because they will have lost a game in November, even if they lose Friday and then beat Iowa and Oregon, I can't see them getting into the top 12, top 15 sure, top 12, I would be really hard, so they would have to win out.
1:18:42
[SPEAKER_01]: they're 10 and 2 they're in.
1:18:43
[SPEAKER_01]: 10 and 2 with the win over organ they're just in.
1:18:46
[SPEAKER_01]: My percentage points of like where I think that stands right now is like 6%.
1:18:54
[SPEAKER_01]: 6%.
1:18:58
[SPEAKER_01]: Mostly because I think SC has a 15% chance of winning the organ again.
1:19:04
[SPEAKER_01]: And if they win the organ game I think there's very good chance that they would have done everything else.
1:19:09
[SPEAKER_02]: Oregon, USC currently has a 28% chance to beat Oregon and if they don't beat Oregon, if let's say they beat Northwestern, they beat Iowa and then they lose to Oregon, I don't know why they're not including the UCLA game in this though.
1:19:29
[SPEAKER_02]: that would certainly be a factor, but maybe it's only like the next three games.
1:19:34
[SPEAKER_02]: It says it's a 4% chance to make the playoff while losing to Oregon.
1:19:39
[SPEAKER_02]: If USC beats Oregon and then goes to the conference title game and loses,
1:19:45
[SPEAKER_02]: It's a 70% chance to get into the project.
1:19:48
[SPEAKER_01]: So those are the stipulations there.
1:19:51
[SPEAKER_02]: And if USC wins out and then doesn't go to the big tent, a title game, they have an 88% chance to make the playoff, which brings me to Discord message that came in during the show from Richard, who is our stats and information extraordinaire, said he was looking at the playoff picture in the permutations,
1:20:15
[SPEAKER_02]: The conference championship game USC can only get in if Indiana wins out if USC wins out and then Michigan wins out and beats Ohio State that would put USC with Indiana in that game.
1:20:44
[SPEAKER_01]: Why isn't Ohio State still in there?
1:20:46
[SPEAKER_02]: Because Ohio State loses to Michigan.
1:20:49
[SPEAKER_01]: But then it's a four-way, one last time.
1:20:54
[SPEAKER_02]: Indiana or Ohio State, and Michigan would be tied.
1:20:59
[SPEAKER_02]: And SC.
1:21:01
[SPEAKER_02]: Sorry, no, USC or Ohio State and Michigan would be tied for the second time.
1:21:06
[SPEAKER_01]: For the second time, the second time.
1:21:08
[SPEAKER_01]: And the end is undefeated.
1:21:08
[SPEAKER_01]: Indiana is the first spot undefeated.
1:21:10
[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
1:21:10
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
1:21:11
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
1:21:11
[SPEAKER_01]: No, that makes sense.
1:21:12
[SPEAKER_01]: That makes sense.
1:21:15
[SPEAKER_01]: That doesn't seem in trouble.
1:21:17
[SPEAKER_01]: It's not, in the say, oh, here we go.
1:21:20
[SPEAKER_01]: It's not going to happen.
1:21:21
[SPEAKER_01]: I, I, I will eat mustard on the thing on the show again.
1:21:25
[SPEAKER_01]: If it happens, it's not going to happen.
1:21:26
[SPEAKER_01]: What I'm saying is, if you're, if the only bit of help that you need besides things that you have control of is Michigan, B.D.
1:21:37
[SPEAKER_01]: and Ohio State.
1:21:40
[SPEAKER_01]: That is a way more likely help to get than Ohio State losing to anybody else, or Indiana losing to anybody else, just because Michigan has Ohio State's number and won the last what 4 and a row or whatever, like that's not impossible.
1:21:54
[SPEAKER_01]: However, I will say that SC's best scenario for getting the playoff period, 10 and 2, go eight and one in the conference, don't have to play the championship game and get in that way.
1:22:10
[SPEAKER_01]: What's annoying let me let me let me ask you this Let's just say two hypotheticals A S C goes 10 and 2 gets to the playoff They are the nine seed in the playoff They have to go play On the road against What are the nine half to play against the in what context are they the nine
1:22:41
[SPEAKER_01]: You think they'd be higher?
1:22:43
[SPEAKER_02]: Well, okay.
1:22:44
[SPEAKER_02]: So what I'll tell you is this is how ESPN sort of they're calculating it.
1:22:51
[SPEAKER_02]: If USC wins out and then goes to the conference title game and loses, they'd be the 7 seed.
1:22:57
[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
1:22:57
[SPEAKER_02]: If USC wins out and doesn't make the conference title game, they'd be the 6th seed.
1:23:02
[SPEAKER_02]: The 6th, so they have a home game.
1:23:09
[SPEAKER_02]: they would be the force.
1:23:11
[SPEAKER_01]: Either way, this is what my question is to you.
1:23:14
[SPEAKER_01]: This is a dumb hypothetical that means nothing.
1:23:16
[SPEAKER_01]: Take that for what it's worth.
1:23:19
[SPEAKER_01]: What would feel more satisfying?
1:23:21
[SPEAKER_01]: And again, this is just no, not even a good answer to this.
1:23:25
[SPEAKER_01]: What would feel more satisfying?
1:23:27
[SPEAKER_01]: pen and two make the playoff lose in the first round hard fought 27 24 to whoever wherever that game is respectable competitive loss, but you didn't advance you lost, right?
1:23:41
[SPEAKER_01]: Or go to the go to the big 10 championship game, lose and then get either don't make the playoff or get
1:23:59
[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know where I'm going with this.
1:24:01
[SPEAKER_02]: My idea would be to put up a good showing in the playoff under any circumstances.
1:24:05
[SPEAKER_01]: I guess what I'm asking is, if you don't win the Big Ten title, which S.E.
1:24:09
[SPEAKER_01]: is not winning the Big Ten title.
1:24:11
[SPEAKER_01]: They're not beating Ohio State and they're not beating Indiana.
1:24:14
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm sorry, they're just not.
1:24:15
[SPEAKER_01]: No.
1:24:16
[SPEAKER_01]: If you're not winning those two games, as far as I'm concerned, I have no care about that game.
1:24:24
[SPEAKER_02]: like I'd rather just asking that be in it I just for me this is this is less about like where USC is in and just what we see from USC we talk about the eye test all the time like the scenario where USC goes to the big 10 title game and puts up a fight against Indiana even if they lose that and then go to the playoff and put a fight up against whoever they play
1:24:45
[SPEAKER_02]: it's that they put up a fight against those teams that matters to me a hell of a lot more than anything else for me it's I would take any scenario where USC puts up a fight against the the opponents that they play is the one that I want to see because I don't want to see USC go to the playoff and then get blown out because that will just verify what my worries about this team in general are.
1:25:06
[SPEAKER_02]: So what I think is funny what I think is funny considering the way that we talk about this team
1:25:13
[SPEAKER_02]: Like they are literally one game away from being a playoff lock.
1:25:22
[SPEAKER_02]: If we say USC is favored by two touchdowns over Northwestern, USC will be favored significantly over Iowa.
1:25:29
[SPEAKER_02]: USC will be favored significantly over UCLA.
1:25:32
[SPEAKER_02]: They are one outcome unexpected outcome away from being a playoff lock.
1:25:42
[SPEAKER_02]: They are also miles from being a playoff team in my view.
1:25:47
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, you know, this is the weird thing.
1:25:49
[SPEAKER_01]: Let's talk about 2012, you know, the season, the UBCs.
1:25:53
[SPEAKER_01]: And right, S.E.
1:25:56
[SPEAKER_01]: started that season 6 and 2.
1:25:59
[SPEAKER_01]: And it's 7 and 6.
1:26:00
[SPEAKER_01]: Start it 6 and 2.
1:26:02
[SPEAKER_01]: 6 and they were 6 and 2 going into the Oregon game.
1:26:05
[SPEAKER_02]: Well, I will compare it more to 2017.
1:26:09
[SPEAKER_02]: 2017 after USC loses to Notre Dame and gets their ass kicked.
1:26:13
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, no, I guess what I'm saying is like, November is such a determining factor for how we see a season.
1:26:20
[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
1:26:21
[SPEAKER_01]: And 2017, prime example, right?
1:26:24
[SPEAKER_01]: Go in into November.
1:26:25
[SPEAKER_01]: Everybody thought the season was after everything was bad.
1:26:28
[SPEAKER_01]: They ended up putting the conference anyways.
1:26:30
[SPEAKER_01]: 2006, everyone thought the season was gone.
1:26:34
[SPEAKER_01]: they end up having to know when a no lost November, they win the conference anyways.
1:26:40
[SPEAKER_01]: And so like, 2018, 2018, S.E.
1:26:43
[SPEAKER_01]: goes, what, five and seven, right?
1:26:47
[SPEAKER_01]: Five and seven or four and eight.
1:26:48
[SPEAKER_01]: I never remember.
1:26:48
[SPEAKER_01]: Five and seven.
1:26:51
[SPEAKER_01]: S.E.
1:26:51
[SPEAKER_01]: had controlled their own destiny and the freaking south division.
1:26:54
[SPEAKER_01]: Going into the last two weeks of the year.
1:26:57
[SPEAKER_01]: Yep.
1:27:00
[SPEAKER_01]: They lost all those games that they were right there for the taking and then they ended up five and said like Was it tech is the NM last year?
1:27:10
[SPEAKER_01]: They started the season like eight and one and they had all the tiebreakers of their favor to go to the SEC Championship game And they finished the season like eight and four or whatever like that's This is college football and Everything is really settled in November and
1:27:29
[SPEAKER_01]: Like it is wild that if you have a no loss November people will look on this season so freaking favorably Yes, and if you Having November and which you go two and two people will look on this season as it is an utter failure and like in one on one sense that is
1:27:49
[SPEAKER_01]: It's nice that college football can be forgiving in that aspect, especially now in a 12-team playoff, right?
1:27:56
[SPEAKER_01]: It's nice that college football can be forgiving in that sense.
1:27:59
[SPEAKER_01]: In the other aspect, it is terrifying in the sense of like, you look at it, you're like, well, look.
1:28:05
[SPEAKER_01]: All of it is right there for SC to do the thing.
1:28:09
[SPEAKER_01]: Like, if they actually clean up their mistakes, they actually thought their eyes and cross their teeth and do all the things that we know that they have potential to do,
1:28:20
[SPEAKER_01]: overcome the the obstacles that they have potential to but haven't shown that they can and they actually put everything together this can be a playoff lock of a team is still a team that absolutely couldn't go in for and people would want the one Lincoln Riley fired like everything is possible right now everything's possible they can go seven or five like everything is possible still
1:28:49
[SPEAKER_01]: you know what I mean yeah which is great and scary at the same time I mean it's it's fun to go into November like with these possibilities but yeah Joe the Ted didn't last your show that all the byteams lost the first round they played um they I think they did right
1:29:14
[SPEAKER_01]: Is he lost?
1:29:15
[SPEAKER_01]: Boise State lost?
1:29:17
[SPEAKER_01]: Orgen lost?
1:29:20
[SPEAKER_02]: Um, while you're figuring that out, I just saw the clip from Josh Pate.
1:29:26
[SPEAKER_02]: Uh, he was on some podcast or some show or whatever.
1:29:29
[SPEAKER_02]: And they asked him, do you have any feeling on any of the job openings right now?
1:29:31
[SPEAKER_02]: And he did this whole like, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo,
1:29:40
[SPEAKER_02]: mocked like he was pulling the pit of a grenade and lobbying it and says, let's just keep an eye on Lincoln Riley at USC.
1:29:48
[SPEAKER_01]: In what sense?
1:29:50
[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, here's, here's, here's, here's the sense of like in the sense of that feels like it's not about him getting fired.
1:29:56
[SPEAKER_02]: In the sense of like, I wonder if there, there was I've seen like the rumor mill, the very, very unreliable rumor mill, like sort of throw out the possibility of Florida.
1:30:07
[SPEAKER_02]: being interested.
1:30:08
[SPEAKER_02]: We know that LSU was interested.
1:30:11
[SPEAKER_02]: So like if he wanted to leave, I think his opportunities are absolutely there.
1:30:18
[SPEAKER_01]: Or if an NFL team came, or if an NFL team came, how much kind of thing is it?
1:30:21
[SPEAKER_02]: Why would you come calling that?
1:30:23
[SPEAKER_02]: Like why, why would you come calling for Lincoln Riley as a head coach right now?
1:30:28
[SPEAKER_01]: in a lot of ways, I think the NFL makes more sense.
1:30:30
[SPEAKER_02]: It makes so much sense because then his scheme can just be what it is.
1:30:35
[SPEAKER_02]: But then you have to question, like, what his scheme translate to, yeah.
1:30:38
[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know, Joe Barry's did.
1:30:40
[SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, I do think that we need to start looking at every position, not just in the, in the, in the, and not just League of Rally, but like everybody called the ball right now.
1:30:54
[SPEAKER_01]: Given the jobs that are open and given the fallout of everything, there will be so much reverberation that we should not look at the binary of college jobs of X love kept on and fired.
1:31:09
[SPEAKER_01]: There are so many other possibilities.
1:31:12
[SPEAKER_01]: Not just feeling like you're out of your for everybody.
1:31:16
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, Kenny in the chest is why would the NFL hire
1:31:24
[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, yeah, we were asking the same question of why would you hire us?
1:31:28
[SPEAKER_01]: I say this.
1:31:29
[SPEAKER_01]: I think from the NFL perspective, I don't think I agree with this, but I think that this thought exists that Lincoln Riley's ability to draft up a game plan and draw up plays and all that stuff could be so appealing that you could be an NFL GM and say, I will be the one.
1:31:50
[SPEAKER_01]: to bring him with a play collar and a defensive coordinator, and we will put that all together and maximize everybody's ability.
1:32:01
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
1:32:01
[SPEAKER_01]: I understand the logic in that.
1:32:04
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not saying it's a great logic, but I think that logic makes more sense in the NFL when the discrepancies between good and bad defenses are not
1:32:20
[SPEAKER_01]: You know, like the, I don't want such as parity, but like, but it's also different, like it's, it's just different.
1:32:27
[SPEAKER_02]: They have more practice time.
1:32:28
[SPEAKER_02]: They have more control over their rosters.
1:32:30
[SPEAKER_02]: They have, you know, there's the culture and it's that in some places.
1:32:37
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, the coaches are more CEOs by default.
1:32:40
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
1:32:43
[SPEAKER_02]: So, well, that's interesting.
1:32:45
[SPEAKER_02]: Not saying it means anything, but that's it.
1:32:47
[SPEAKER_01]: It's going back to the playoff thing.
1:32:48
[SPEAKER_01]: It is fascinating to think that like every year we hear about the Auburn Dune's day scenario of, did you know that Auburn has this path that all they need to do is win all these games?
1:33:00
[SPEAKER_01]: And then they will be a four-loss team that can win the SEC.
1:33:03
[SPEAKER_01]: And if they do, they'll have to be put in the playoff, right?
1:33:07
[SPEAKER_01]: Like you hear this every other year, right?
1:33:09
[SPEAKER_01]: About some team.
1:33:10
[SPEAKER_01]: It is kind of neat that like,
1:33:14
[SPEAKER_01]: Not that SC is that single is that team right now, but like that SC has scenarios that are not too different from that.
1:33:24
[SPEAKER_01]: And are not that far fetched.
1:33:27
[SPEAKER_02]: Alien asks would we be.
1:33:29
[SPEAKER_01]: Like to me, beating Oregon is the most far fetched of all those.
1:33:31
[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, yes, that is the most far fetched of that.
1:33:33
[SPEAKER_02]: But we might be talking different if Oregon loses till to Iowa.
1:33:37
[SPEAKER_03]: Sure.
1:33:37
[SPEAKER_02]: You know, like there's there's a lot of.
1:33:40
[SPEAKER_02]: iterations of of the future that we can sort of imagine.
1:33:43
[SPEAKER_02]: Well, I don't believe.
1:33:45
[SPEAKER_02]: If Oregon was coming to, if Oregon was coming to the Colosseum, I would be giving USC a punch or chance.
1:33:51
[SPEAKER_02]: It's, it's the autism of it all that sort of, it has me not even trying to think about that game.
1:33:56
[SPEAKER_01]: For sure.
1:33:57
[SPEAKER_01]: I, I was like part of me here that is fully on board with the solid verbal thing of like,
1:34:07
[SPEAKER_01]: The only teams that seem like they aren't flawed are Ohio State and Indiana, everybody else.
1:34:16
[SPEAKER_01]: Not only does everybody else have a loss or all that kind of stuff, but everybody else has a way where I can see them losing.
1:34:24
[SPEAKER_01]: And the only reason I can see Ohio State losing a game is because they just lose to Michigan lately, that's the only reason I think that Michigan could beat them and that that game is at the big house.
1:34:35
[SPEAKER_01]: That's the only reason I think that Ohio State could actually lose, you know what I mean?
1:34:40
[SPEAKER_01]: And that's not even a great football reason, right?
1:34:46
[SPEAKER_01]: Or can I thought would be one of those infallible teams?
1:34:48
[SPEAKER_01]: But they got thoroughly outplayed by Indiana.
1:34:53
[SPEAKER_01]: Miami has shown that they can just lose to teams there.
1:34:57
[SPEAKER_01]: They're still Miami.
1:34:59
[SPEAKER_02]: I don't trust Texas A&M as far as I could throw them.
1:35:03
[SPEAKER_01]: Alabama and Georgia on their day are completely unbeatable.
1:35:07
[SPEAKER_01]: On the other days, are gonna let any competitive team take them to the wire and potentially beat them.
1:35:15
[SPEAKER_02]: And like, Ole Miss is still Ole Miss, BYU is a big big BYU and Texas Tech are big 12.
1:35:21
[SPEAKER_02]: So I don't trust them in.
1:35:23
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
1:35:23
[SPEAKER_02]: So in the end, in silver name we know what the Notre Dame is the two last team for a reason, Oklahoma is the two last team for a reason.
1:35:30
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I tend to think that there's no that SC doesn't really have more than a 15% chance of going into Austin and a lot of that is based on just SC struggling on the road and organ just obviously be really good, but like if it was anybody like let's say for instance, it was who was a comparable team to SC in the big 10 right now?
1:35:55
[SPEAKER_01]: Is it Iowa?
1:35:57
[SPEAKER_01]: level.
1:35:58
[SPEAKER_01]: Illinois.
1:35:59
[SPEAKER_01]: Illinois.
1:36:00
[SPEAKER_01]: Illinois.
1:36:00
[SPEAKER_01]: Illinois is going into, um, to Arten.
1:36:06
[SPEAKER_01]: I could be convinced that there could be some weird reason the Illinois could win that game.
1:36:13
[SPEAKER_01]: Strictly based off of stupid anecdotal data, anecdotal memories of like, you know, Oregon lost in Austin in 2012 and 2011 and 2013 in November and then they just got
1:36:33
[SPEAKER_01]: I feel like I would give more grace to a team like Illinois or whoever than SC just because we watch SC every week, we see all of their words, especially on the road.
1:36:46
[SPEAKER_01]: And so like that is partially cloudy in my 15% spot where
1:36:51
[SPEAKER_01]: like I believe the FPI thing that you said was to like 25% yes 28% yeah 28% like that probably the realistic thing but like I just look at S.C. on the road and it it has I have a question if U.S.C.
1:37:05
[SPEAKER_02]: beat organ on the road it would be the most shocking road win for U.S.C.
1:37:13
[SPEAKER_02]: since
1:37:16
[SPEAKER_02]: Because to me, it's more, it would be way more shocking than the 2016 win over Washington.
1:37:22
[SPEAKER_02]: Because Washington.
1:37:24
[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know that it is, though.
1:37:25
[SPEAKER_02]: Washington always looked to me like a team, like that, that era of Washington teams was not impervious, was not like...
1:37:35
[SPEAKER_02]: I always felt like they were there for the taking.
1:37:38
[SPEAKER_01]: But the whole 2016 thing was like, yeah, I don't know that she actually is anything.
1:37:44
[SPEAKER_01]: They'd have to prove against Washington.
1:37:46
[SPEAKER_01]: We're saying the same things we said then.
1:37:48
[SPEAKER_02]: Yes.
1:37:49
[SPEAKER_02]: But we were talking about they have to prove it against Washington.
1:37:51
[SPEAKER_02]: We're right now.
1:37:52
[SPEAKER_02]: I'm saying that like, U.S. is losing to Oregon guys.
1:37:54
[SPEAKER_02]: Like I'm not even, I'm not even considering it.
1:37:58
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, but I would go back to so much of that is because we know that this team doesn't win those games on the road.
1:38:03
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, that's my point.
1:38:04
[SPEAKER_02]: That would be the most shocking road win since.
1:38:10
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, that's probably is the case.
1:38:15
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, it's in 20, 20, 11.
1:38:21
[SPEAKER_01]: You're probably been more shocking than that.
1:38:25
[SPEAKER_01]: I think it depends on what happens the next.
1:38:27
[SPEAKER_02]: By 2011, 2011, by the time USC played Oregon, like it felt like USC was on a roll, like,
1:38:33
[SPEAKER_01]: that right and they had and they had just taken Stanford to the wide.
1:38:37
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, you know what I mean?
1:38:38
[SPEAKER_02]: They had momentum.
1:38:39
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
1:38:40
[SPEAKER_01]: And I do think that like our view of this will be much clearer to weeks from now.
1:38:44
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, once we know what happens in these next 10 days from now.
1:38:47
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, once we close out Iowa and puts up 45 points on Iowa, we will be talking to Iowa beats Oregon.
1:38:53
[SPEAKER_01]: Like our our thoughts will change much differently.
1:38:56
[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
1:38:56
[SPEAKER_01]: just like it as seed loses Friday night.
1:39:00
[SPEAKER_01]: Things will be much different there as well.
1:39:02
[SPEAKER_01]: Big up to turn trout joining us on.
1:39:04
[SPEAKER_01]: Welcome.
1:39:05
[SPEAKER_01]: The rock's gone.
1:39:07
[SPEAKER_01]: Big ups.
1:39:08
[SPEAKER_01]: Welcome.
1:39:09
[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, this is the part where I say we can't let this be a two hour episode.
1:39:13
[SPEAKER_01]: I know.
1:39:14
[SPEAKER_01]: It's one thirty eight at this point.
1:39:16
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
1:39:16
[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, last thing before we go.
1:39:19
[SPEAKER_01]: only if you think five says because in our hearts we don't think that they are very good like they are honestly that's why I wonder if we really care if Riley went to Florida because in their hearts we don't know that they're very good like I wouldn't care if you left for Florida.
1:39:39
[SPEAKER_02]: I'm ready.
1:39:40
[SPEAKER_02]: I'm ready to be free of the buyout and just start fresh if you left for another job to me in a lot of ways That's the best case scenario that is that is a gift from God like I Do not have to worry about the buyout to no longer be saddled with the buyout in terms of how much you can spend on your next coach And your next staff like there's a so many I don't know that I'm the Lincoln rally needs to be fired tomorrow, right, but like
1:40:05
[SPEAKER_01]: It's one of those things where it would be nice to not have to worry about that being a conversation anymore, regardless of whatever your stance was.
1:40:16
[SPEAKER_01]: And on that case, that's why I think it's sort of a best case scenario.
1:40:19
[SPEAKER_01]: The worst case scenario is this coaching cycle is going to suck.
1:40:22
[SPEAKER_01]: So like if that's in the case, then you're really better go on to get Lane Kiffin.
1:40:25
[SPEAKER_02]: You know what I mean?
1:40:26
[SPEAKER_02]: And that's my thing is like this coaching cycle is going to suck.
1:40:30
[SPEAKER_02]: But at least if Riley left, then you could go, you know, Robert Grenade over at Lane Kiffin and say, hey, you want to.
1:40:37
[SPEAKER_02]: And if he says no, then I think you take a chance on a coach that, you know, on a G5.
1:40:43
[SPEAKER_01]: I have a guy who.
1:40:45
[SPEAKER_01]: I don't want to say the guy.
1:40:47
[SPEAKER_02]: I would look at Memphis's code personally, but I don't want to say the guy.
1:40:52
[SPEAKER_02]: Jessie Mintur.
1:40:53
[SPEAKER_02]: Oh yeah, you've said the guy before.
1:40:54
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, interesting.
1:40:55
[SPEAKER_02]: That's my point.
1:40:56
[SPEAKER_02]: If USC takes a chance on a coordinator like that, and we just sort of start this cycle of let's see who's there.
1:41:04
[SPEAKER_02]: I'm ready for that to happen.
1:41:07
[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know that this is the ideal moment for it to happen, but as I'm no longer caring about it, ideals.
1:41:13
[SPEAKER_02]: I'm just ready for the next phase with the GM and with this AD.
1:41:18
[SPEAKER_02]: And Lincoln will be doing USA a huge favor if he took the buyer out of the equation.
1:41:22
[SPEAKER_02]: from just a and it would be fascinating if the u.s.e.
1:41:26
[SPEAKER_02]: job opened up and we got to know Lane kiffens answer because you and i have been talking for weeks about like where does Lane feel like what is Lane feel about u.s.e.
1:41:37
[SPEAKER_01]: zero or 100% like because you know it's nowhere and it's it's one or the other okay perfect perfect comparison here i want this to be a video game where you can save an alternate save yes i want to see what happens what happens in the sense of like
1:41:53
[SPEAKER_01]: What does anything come from the lane stuff?
1:41:56
[SPEAKER_01]: What happens in the sense of like, what does the hiring process look like?
1:42:01
[SPEAKER_01]: How much is Chad Bowden involved?
1:42:04
[SPEAKER_01]: Is he the guy making the call?
1:42:05
[SPEAKER_01]: He could be.
1:42:06
[SPEAKER_01]: Is it Jen Cohen making the call?
1:42:08
[SPEAKER_01]: Is she just shining the checks?
1:42:10
[SPEAKER_01]: Is it like, I don't, how are they both working together?
1:42:14
[SPEAKER_01]: Like, I'm very, from just a sheer interest stuff, that would be fascinating.
1:42:19
[SPEAKER_01]: It would be fun to podcast about and all that kind of stuff.
1:42:22
[SPEAKER_01]: At the same time, this is a coaching carousel that unless you go out and actually get Lane Kiffin, or like someone I mentioned, like Jesse Mentor, or you do the thing the P is wanted.
1:42:35
[SPEAKER_01]: Like, as he fans don't have a boner for John Druden, like everybody else, it's for John Harbaugh.
1:42:42
[SPEAKER_01]: And like you do the John Harbaugh thing, or the, that's the Steelers guy.
1:42:48
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh my god.
1:42:49
[SPEAKER_01]: Like Tomlin?
1:42:50
[SPEAKER_01]: Like that's another one that you just randomly see on the piece sometimes.
1:42:54
[SPEAKER_01]: Like, in the chances of any of those things, I feel like our love, which is why I think you have to avoid this coaching carousel, but like it would just be interesting to see what would happen.
1:43:06
[SPEAKER_01]: Do I think that actually would be better off?
1:43:08
[SPEAKER_01]: That's a completely different story.
1:43:11
[SPEAKER_01]: And do I think that, like, yeah,
1:43:15
[SPEAKER_01]: alternate safe, I want an alternate safe, just to see what happened with the ability to do take you back east.
1:43:24
[SPEAKER_01]: So, yeah, all right, let's grab up there.
1:43:30
[SPEAKER_01]: It only says, yeah, we also have no president.
1:43:32
