- 0:00Speaker 1: WKBN. Well, howdy ho, boys and girls. 306 here on
- 0:03Speaker 1: a Thursday afternoon. It's Thursday already. And it's July 16th.
- 0:08Speaker 1: We're at 86 degrees here this afternoon. It's hot and
- 0:12Speaker 1: humid out there. Can you believe this smoke, though? I mean, it's...
- 0:18Speaker 1: It is... So they say, what, this is from Canada?
- 0:22Speaker 1: I mean, it's pretty thick in my neck of the woods.
- 0:25Speaker 1: I mean, when you take a look... Wait a minute.
- 0:26Speaker 1: I've got to make a technical adjustment here. When you
- 0:29Speaker 1: take a look at the smoke that is just going
- 0:32Speaker 1: on out there, I mean, it's like there's a fog.
- 0:37Speaker 1: I thought for just a minute my cataracts had returned.
- 0:40Speaker 1: But it's like there's a fog out there. And I
- 0:45Speaker 1: felt like I was in London. And they say this
- 0:48Speaker 1: is that smoke from Canada that's coming in from wildfires
- 0:52Speaker 1: in Canada. I forget where else they said. Isn't that something, though?
- 0:56Speaker 1: I mean, you can have... these wildfires. It wasn't just Canada.
- 1:00Speaker 1: I forget where else they said. And this smoke is
- 1:03Speaker 1: coming down with the jet stream down our way. And
- 1:07Speaker 1: it's pretty thick down here. And you can actually not
- 1:12Speaker 1: only see it, you can smell it when you're outside.
- 1:15Speaker 1: You can actually smell the smoke. And you can see
- 1:19Speaker 1: it in my neck of the woods. And they say,
- 1:22Speaker 1: you know, if you have COPD or you got asthma,
- 1:24Speaker 1: you have breathing issues, you might want to avoid it.
- 1:27Speaker 1: I just take it on like a real man. And
- 1:29Speaker 1: so let me tell you something. It has had absolutely no,
- 1:34Speaker 1: no effect on me at all. I took it on
- 1:38Speaker 1: all day and I'm, I'm a real man. And I
- 1:40Speaker 1: just said, that's, I'm not going to stay in the house.
- 1:43Speaker 1: They're not going to tell me the smoke's bad for
- 1:45Speaker 1: me or my lungs. I'm not going to put up
- 1:49Speaker 1: with that. Just kidding.
- 1:50Speaker 2: All right.
- 1:51Speaker 1: Little, little theater of the mind there for you. You're
- 1:54Speaker 1: on the air.
- 1:56Speaker 2: Hey, Ron, did you see where inflation was way down
- 1:58Speaker 2: the other day?
- 2:01Speaker 1: I don't buy any of that government stuff with inflation.
- 2:05Speaker 1: I just don't buy any of it. It's way down
- 2:08Speaker 1: while my gas price is back up to $ 3. 99 a gallon.
- 2:11Speaker 1: It's not way down in the world of Ron Verb,
- 2:13Speaker 1: Fort Lauderdale, Frank. I mean, it's not. It's not. Well,
- 2:18Speaker 1: I'm serious about it. Everywhere I turn, I don't buy
- 2:23Speaker 1: into any of that bull crap that inflation is down.
- 2:25Speaker 1: Everything has gotten too damn expensive. And I mean everything
- 2:30Speaker 1: that is out there. Vehicles, homes, groceries, you name it.
- 2:38Speaker 1: Everything's ridiculous.
- 2:40Speaker 2: Oh, I agree with you. And also, oh, geez, I
- 2:45Speaker 2: almost forgot what I was going to say.
- 2:47Speaker 1: Well, that's the beginning of the year right there.
- 2:49Speaker 2: With Iran? The stock market was way down again earlier today.
- 2:54Speaker 1: Do you blame it? Frank, I'm going to educate you.
- 2:57Speaker 1: I'm going to educate you on the market. Are you ready?
- 3:00Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm ready.
- 3:01Speaker 1: All right, take some notes on this kind of stuff.
- 3:04Speaker 1: The market does not like uncertainty, and what's going on
- 3:07Speaker 1: right now is uncertainty. And I'll say it again, and
- 3:09Speaker 1: I know a lot of Trumpsters get upset with me.
- 3:12Speaker 1: President Trump got into a mess by getting involved in
- 3:15Speaker 1: this from the very beginning. This was a mistake from
- 3:19Speaker 1: the very beginning, and I do mean a mistake. As
- 3:22Speaker 1: a result of the move he's made, we've never had
- 3:24Speaker 1: these issues with the straight being open and being closed, ever.
- 3:29Speaker 1: We've never had these issues until he started this situation.
- 3:33Speaker 1: And now it appears to me that I don't know
- 3:35Speaker 1: what the end is. I don't, it's just going to
- 3:41Speaker 1: continue to drag on, and who knows how much longer
- 3:44Speaker 1: it's going to drag on, and I'm going to continue
- 3:46Speaker 1: to pay the price.
- 3:49Speaker 2: Well, I want to give your audience some friendly advice
- 3:53Speaker 2: on the market, too. You had the options caller a
- 3:58Speaker 2: while back was talking how great Micron Technologies was and
- 4:04Speaker 2: was selling. At $ 1, 224 an ounce, at the time he
- 4:10Speaker 2: said it, it's down to almost $ 890, I mean, not
- 4:13Speaker 2: an ounce a share. And you'd be losing money. And
- 4:19Speaker 2: listen to this. Remember when we were having the argument
- 4:23Speaker 2: over SpaceX? He was saying, yeah, I should have bought
- 4:27Speaker 2: call options, meaning betting on SpaceX going up. And I
- 4:32Speaker 2: was saying, no, you should be... Shorting SpaceX or buying
- 4:36Speaker 2: put options, betting it should go down. You know, SpaceX
- 4:40Speaker 2: went public at $ 150 a share. It's now down below
- 4:42Speaker 2: $ 134 a share. If I had taken his advice and
- 4:43Speaker 2: bought the put options like he told me I should
- 4:45Speaker 2: have done, I would, that thing better turn around real
- 5:00Speaker 2: fast or I would lose 100% of my money.
- 5:05Speaker 1: Right. Do you think it's, are you going to buy
- 5:07Speaker 1: any SpaceX?
- 5:09Speaker 2: No, I'm not going to. Well, I tell you what,
- 5:12Speaker 2: at this price, I'm considering it, but I can't, you know,
- 5:16Speaker 2: give specific recommendations.
- 5:19Speaker 1: I know, but I'm just asking if you were going
- 5:21Speaker 1: to buy it because the price is down and put
- 5:23Speaker 1: it in there. But at your age. What difference does
- 5:26Speaker 1: it make, right? I mean, really, how much time could
- 5:31Speaker 1: you possibly have left?
- 5:32Speaker 2: You know, I got a surprise for you. I think
- 5:37Speaker 2: this is the end of my stock market report for today.
- 5:41Speaker 1: Yes.
- 5:41Speaker 2: So Ro Khanna is, you know, talking about that he's
- 5:49Speaker 2: probably running for president and that he will do like
- 5:53Speaker 2: Thomas Massey. cut foreign aid. And also he's going to oppose,
- 5:59Speaker 2: there's a law pending in Congress right now, the Jewish
- 6:04Speaker 2: Something Act, where it will be criminalized to criticize Israel,
- 6:11Speaker 2: which he opposed.
- 6:12Speaker 1: How can something be... Don't we have free speech in
- 6:16Speaker 1: our country? I mean, come on now. I mean, I
- 6:20Speaker 1: know what you're talking about. And it's like, listen, I
- 6:23Speaker 1: think you have a right to speak your piece and
- 6:25Speaker 1: be critical of whatever you want to be critical of.
- 6:28Speaker 1: You shouldn't fear your own tongue. Even if it's terrible
- 6:31Speaker 1: hate speech, it's still protected speech, and it should remain
- 6:33Speaker 1: that way in the United States of America. Because who
- 6:36Speaker 1: determines what is hate speech?
- 6:39Speaker 2: Well, you know, I have never voted for a Democrat.
- 6:44Speaker 2: I despise the Democrats, just like I do the Republicans.
- 6:48Speaker 2: But if Ro Cano runs for president, he may be
- 6:52Speaker 2: the first Democrat I ever vote for, even though I
- 6:56Speaker 2: don't know his position on transgenderism and all that stuff.
- 7:00Speaker 2: But I just might overlook that, because I think, number one,
- 7:05Speaker 2: we're integrating the Israeli and American military.
- 7:11Speaker 1: Exactly. They want to merge, which I'm opposed to that.
- 7:14Speaker 1: But it says here that he's an American politician and attorney.
- 7:21Speaker 1: There's a strike against him. He's an attorney serving from
- 7:24Speaker 1: California's 17th congressional district. So he's 49 years old. But
- 7:30Speaker 1: he's a Democrat from California, Yale Law School, University of Chicago. Okay,
- 7:39Speaker 1: so there you go. So you think you actually said
- 7:42Speaker 1: that you could actually find yourself voting for a Democrat?
- 7:47Speaker 2: Yeah, for the first time in my life. I mean,
- 7:50Speaker 2: I never vote for anybody in Florida that's a Democrat
- 7:56Speaker 2: that's running for Congress or the Senate or anything like that.
- 7:59Speaker 2: But I'll tell you what, I don't care. what party
- 8:02Speaker 2: they're from, independent Republican. I got full voting for Trump.
- 8:07Speaker 2: He said, no more endless wars, you know, no more
- 8:12Speaker 2: foreign aid. And what happened with that?
- 8:16Speaker 1: Yeah, you're exactly right. Your criticism is correct.
- 8:20Speaker 2: And, you know, also what else we got, you know? Oh,
- 8:26Speaker 2: we got the medals and... precious metals and base metals
- 8:33Speaker 2: are going down again today probably because the inflation report
- 8:38Speaker 2: was down now you know i can't understand what happened
- 8:42Speaker 2: at wall street or ever so off because that i
- 8:47Speaker 2: i think they're too smart they're like us they know
- 8:50Speaker 2: the government lies about just about everything not only the
- 8:54Speaker 2: economic reports the uh... but also war What's the first
- 9:00Speaker 2: casualty in war of the truth, correct?
- 9:02Speaker 1: Absolutely. But when you're talking a market down, the Dow's
- 9:04Speaker 1: down 221, S & P' s down 51, NASDAQ's down 407.
- 9:09Speaker 1: I mean, it's a bad day for your 401k and
- 9:12Speaker 1: your retirement. It's just a bad day for it.
- 9:14Speaker 2: It sure is. And, you know, I read, who was it,
- 9:18Speaker 2: a general or somebody says, how long before Navy SEALs
- 9:23Speaker 2: and special forces take orders from Israeli commanders?
- 9:28Speaker 1: Well, you're talking about– I was just looking at this
- 9:32Speaker 1: the other day. I want to make sure I get
- 9:34Speaker 1: this correct. Let me find it here. Let me find
- 9:37Speaker 1: it here. I want to get the– hang on. I'm
- 9:43Speaker 1: going to get the title correct because I can never remember. It's–
- 9:51Speaker 1: what the heck is the title of that? It's a congressional– movement.
- 9:57Speaker 1: is it not? It's basically a merger, correct?
- 10:03Speaker 2: Yeah, a merger, exactly. In other words, it would be
- 10:08Speaker 2: like if the German military merged with the U.S. military,
- 10:12Speaker 2: and we all take orders from the same commanders.
- 10:15Speaker 1: What sense does that make, though? I am totally opposed
- 10:19Speaker 1: to that completely. I am completely opposed to it.
- 10:22Speaker 2: Well, don't you agree that would be more endless wars
- 10:25Speaker 2: on behalf of Israel if Israel.
- 10:27Speaker 1: Wants to invade Turkey?
- 10:30Speaker 2: I just don't think the National Defense.
- 10:33Speaker 1: Right. The National Defense Authorization Act is what it's called.
- 10:37Speaker 1: The National Events Authorization Act, it's part of a bigger
- 10:41Speaker 1: bill that would merge, basically, Israel and the U.S., what,
- 10:47Speaker 1: military or intelligence? It's like a merger.
- 10:50Speaker 2: Military is what I read. I think our intelligence has
- 10:54Speaker 2: already been merged for years now.
- 10:56Speaker 1: I mean, this stuff should remain solely to the United
- 11:00Speaker 1: States of America, period. I'm with you. I'm dead set
- 11:02Speaker 1: against this. I'm absolutely 100% against this. And I also
- 11:08Speaker 1: agree with you. The inflation numbers, I don't buy them
- 11:11Speaker 1: at all. Inflation is just high. Have you got an
- 11:16Speaker 1: electric bill? I don't know if you're affected by it
- 11:18Speaker 1: like we are here in our neck of the woods.
- 11:20Speaker 1: The cost of electricity has doubled up here. And my
- 11:24Speaker 1: last electric bill was like $ 261. They really don't want
- 11:28Speaker 1: you using your dehumidifier and your air conditioner. These pompous
- 11:32Speaker 1: asses want you living like they do in France without
- 11:35Speaker 1: air conditioning and being hot and being miserable. And they're
- 11:38Speaker 1: going to get their wish if they continue to see
- 11:40Speaker 1: electric rates go up. And so a lot of people
- 11:42Speaker 1: are irate because our electric rates have doubled. They were
- 11:46Speaker 1: worried about the demand out there from these AI centers.
- 11:50Speaker 1: And so your electric's gone way up. Your gasoline's gone
- 11:54Speaker 1: way up. Who says inflation is down?
- 11:58Speaker 2: Well, we have one benefit here in Florida. When I
- 12:02Speaker 2: was analyzing AI stocks a few weeks ago, they were
- 12:06Speaker 2: saying that there is not enough fresh water in Florida
- 12:10Speaker 2: to build a lot of AI data centers in Florida.
- 12:14Speaker 2: But the rest of the country, let's see, what have
- 12:19Speaker 2: I said? You know, data centers will make all the
- 12:22Speaker 2: profits and homeowners will pay all the bills, according.
- 12:25Speaker 1: To one analyst.
- 12:27Speaker 2: And AI revenues are orders of magnitude lower than the
- 12:31Speaker 2: sums being invested. Ron, I've been reading that for quite
- 12:35Speaker 2: a while. AI data centers. I know the options guy
- 12:42Speaker 2: has disagreed with me. He's very bullish on AI. But
- 12:46Speaker 2: I just haven't seen the return on investments. I haven't
- 12:50Speaker 2: seen big profits on these AI data centers or stocks yet.
- 12:55Speaker 2: In fact, there was an article in a major investment
- 12:59Speaker 2: publication a few days ago that says that AI stocks
- 13:04Speaker 2: are overvalued, and a lot of AI analysts are predicting
- 13:09Speaker 2: that they're not going to make the money that people
- 13:12Speaker 2: are predicting, and they're putting out sell recommendations on a
- 13:15Speaker 2: number of them.
- 13:16Speaker 1: Here's one for you, a headline from CNBC for Lauderdale. Frank, U.S.
- 13:20Speaker 1: grocery slowdown. Did you hear me? Grocery. I've got to
- 13:24Speaker 1: clear my throat. Maybe this smoke is getting to me, Frank. U.S.
- 13:27Speaker 1: grocery slowdown deepens as shoppers buy fewer items, raising pressures
- 13:32Speaker 1: on food companies. So who said inflation is down? Would
- 13:37Speaker 1: that indicate inflation is down based on a story I
- 13:39Speaker 1: just read? The U.S. grocery slowdown deepens as shoppers buy
- 13:43Speaker 1: fewer items. Would that be a sign of inflation being reduced?
- 13:47Speaker 3: No.
- 13:47Speaker 2: When's the last time you saw prices go down for
- 13:51Speaker 2: eggs or milk or cat food or coffee? In fact,
- 13:55Speaker 2: I think you just read the report that coffee prices
- 13:58Speaker 2: are expected to go up again.
- 14:00Speaker 1: Well, the last time I had a good can of
- 14:02Speaker 1: cat food, I can't remember what I paid for it.
- 14:07Speaker 2: By the way, this will probably have to be another call,
- 14:10Speaker 2: but you had a young guy called right before you
- 14:14Speaker 2: went on vacation. Yes. He hears me and you talking
- 14:19Speaker 2: about Zionism a lot, and he has no clue what
- 14:24Speaker 2: it is. Well, I'm going to call next week because...
- 14:28Speaker 2: I think that's important. I think a younger generation, now
- 14:32Speaker 2: that we're going to have the integration of the Israeli
- 14:35Speaker 2: and U.S. military.
- 14:38Speaker 1: I sure hope we don't have that. I'm dead set
- 14:41Speaker 1: against it. I don't believe the U.S. military should be
- 14:45Speaker 1: merging with anybody at all. I mean, I don't know
- 14:48Speaker 1: where this comes from other than it shows you the
- 14:51Speaker 1: influence of those lobbying groups. All right, Fort Lauderdale, Frank,
- 14:55Speaker 1: I enjoyed my conversation with you today.
- 14:57Speaker 2: Great, Ron. Take care now.
- 14:59Speaker 1: Have a good day. You too. We'll pause here. We'll
- 15:01Speaker 1: come back with more. Fort Lauderdale, Frank. How about that
- 15:04Speaker 1: for a headline? U.S. grocery slowdown deepens as shoppers buy
- 15:07Speaker 1: fewer items. So is that a sign of lower inflation?
- 15:13Speaker 1: Or is that a sign that says, gee, I'm paying
- 15:15Speaker 1: more for gasoline and paying more for electricity and paying
- 15:17Speaker 1: more for everything and only got so much money?
- 15:23Speaker 4: Now, Ron Verb on NewsRadio 570 WKBN.
- 15:28Speaker 1: Well, Heidi Ho, boys and girls, 306 here on a
- 15:31Speaker 1: Thursday afternoon. It's Thursday already, and it's July 16th. We're

- 16:55Speaker 1: on like a real man. And so let me tell
- 16:57Speaker 1: you something. It has had absolutely no effect on me
- 17:02Speaker 1: at all. I took it on all day and I'm
- 17:07Speaker 1: a real man. And I just said, I'm not going
- 17:09Speaker 1: to stay in the house. They're not going to tell
- 17:11Speaker 1: me the smoke's bad for me here. Or my lungs.
- 17:15Speaker 1: I'm not going to put up with that. Just kidding.
- 17:18Speaker 1: All right. Little theater of the mind there for you.
- 17:21Speaker 1: You're on the air.

- 19:59Speaker 2: was saying, no, you should be shorting SpaceX or buying
- 20:03Speaker 2: put options, betting it should go down. You know, SpaceX
- 20:07Speaker 2: went public. At $ 150 a share, it's now down below
- 20:10Speaker 2: $ 134 a share. If I had taken his advice and
- 20:12Speaker 2: bought the put options like he told me I should
- 20:14Speaker 2: have done, that thing better turn around real fast or
- 20:17Speaker 2: I would lose 100% of my money. Are you going
- 20:19Speaker 2: to buy any SpaceX products? No, I'm not going to. Well,
- 20:38Speaker 2: I tell you what, at this price, I'm considering it,
- 20:42Speaker 2: but I can't give specific recommendations.
- 20:46Speaker 1: I know, but I'm just asking if you were going
- 20:48Speaker 1: to buy it because the price is down and put
- 20:50Speaker 1: it in there. But at your age, what difference does
- 20:54Speaker 1: it make, right? I mean, really, how much time could
- 20:58Speaker 1: you possibly have left?
- 20:59Speaker 2: You know, I got a surprise for you. I think
- 21:04Speaker 2: this is the end of my stock market report for today.
- 21:08Speaker 3: Yes.
- 21:08Speaker 2: So Ro Khanna is, you know, talking about that he's
- 21:16Speaker 2: probably running for president and that he will do like
- 21:20Speaker 2: Thomas Massey, cut foreign aid. And also he's going to oppose,
- 21:26Speaker 2: there's a law pending in Congress right now, the Jewish
- 21:31Speaker 2: something act, or it will be criminalized to criticize Israel,
- 21:38Speaker 2: which he opposed.
- 21:39Speaker 1: How can something be... Don't we have free speech in
- 21:43Speaker 1: our country? I mean, come on now. I mean, yeah,
- 21:47Speaker 1: I know what you're talking about. And it's like, listen,
- 21:50Speaker 1: I think you have a right to speak your piece
- 21:52Speaker 1: and be critical of whatever you want to be critical of.
- 21:55Speaker 1: You shouldn't fear your own tongue. Even if it's terrible
- 21:58Speaker 1: hate speech, it's still protected speech, and it should remain
- 22:01Speaker 1: that way in the United States of America. Because who
- 22:03Speaker 1: determines what is hate speech?
- 22:06Speaker 2: Well, you know, I have never voted for a Democrat.
- 22:11Speaker 2: I despise the Democrats, just like I do the Republicans.
- 22:15Speaker 2: But if Ro Khanna runs for president, he may be
- 22:19Speaker 2: the first Democrat I ever vote for, even though I
- 22:23Speaker 2: don't know his position on transgenderism and all that stuff.
- 22:27Speaker 2: But I just might overlook that, because I think, number one,
- 22:33Speaker 2: we're integrating the Israeli and American military. Exactly.
- 22:39Speaker 1: They want to merge, which I'm opposed to that. But
- 22:42Speaker 1: it says here that he's an American politician and attorney.
- 22:48Speaker 1: There's a strike against him. He's an attorney serving from
- 22:51Speaker 1: California's 17th congressional district. So he's 49 years old. But
- 22:57Speaker 1: he's a Democrat from California, Yale Law School, University of Chicago. Okay,
- 23:06Speaker 1: so there you go. So you think you actually said
- 23:09Speaker 1: that you could actually find yourself voting for a Democrat?
- 23:14Speaker 2: Yeah, for the first time in my life. I mean,
- 23:17Speaker 2: I never vote for anybody in Florida that's a Democrat
- 23:23Speaker 2: that's running for Congress or the Senate or anything like that.
- 23:26Speaker 2: But I'll tell you what, I don't care. what party
- 23:29Speaker 2: they're from, independent, Republican. I got fooled voting for Trump.
- 23:34Speaker 2: He said, no more endless wars, you know, no more
- 23:39Speaker 2: foreign aid. And what happened with that?
- 23:43Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, you're exactly right. Your criticism is correct.
- 23:47Speaker 2: And, you know, also, what else we got, you know? Oh,
- 23:53Speaker 2: we got the medals and... Precious metals and base metals
- 24:00Speaker 2: are going down again today, probably because the inflation report
- 24:05Speaker 2: was down. Now, you know, I can't understand why Wall
- 24:10Speaker 2: Street will have a sell-off, because I think they're too smart.
- 24:15Speaker 2: They're like us. They know. The government lies about just
- 24:19Speaker 2: about everything, not only the economic reports, but also war.
- 24:25Speaker 2: What's the first... casualty and war the truth, correct?
- 24:29Speaker 1: Absolutely. But when you're talking a market down, the Dow's
- 24:32Speaker 1: down 221, S & P' s down 51, NASDAQ's down 407.
- 24:37Speaker 1: I mean, it's a bad day for your 401k and
- 24:39Speaker 1: your retirement. It's just a bad day for it.
- 24:42Speaker 2: It sure is. And you know, I read, who was it,
- 24:45Speaker 2: a general or somebody says, how long before Navy SEALs
- 24:50Speaker 2: and special forces take orders from Israeli commanders?
- 24:56Speaker 1: Well, then you're talking about– I was just looking at
- 24:59Speaker 1: this the other day. I want to make sure I
- 25:01Speaker 1: get this correct. Let me find it here. Let me
- 25:04Speaker 1: find it here. I want to get the– hang.
- 25:09Speaker 2: On.
- 25:10Speaker 1: I'm going to get the title correct because I can
- 25:13Speaker 1: never remember. It's– what the heck is the title of that?
- 25:20Speaker 1: It's a congressional– movement, is it not? It's basically a merger. Correct?
- 25:30Speaker 2: Yeah, a merger, exactly. In other words, it would be
- 25:35Speaker 2: like if the German military merged with the U.S. military.
- 25:40Speaker 2: We all take orders from the same commanders.
- 25:42Speaker 1: What sense does that make, though? I am totally opposed
- 25:46Speaker 1: to that completely. I am completely opposed to it.
- 25:49Speaker 2: Well, don't you agree that would be more Endless wars
- 25:52Speaker 2: on behalf of Israel if Israel wants to.
- 25:54Speaker 1: I just don't think the national defense... If.
- 25:56Speaker 2: They invade Turkey, we're going to, you know, get... Right.
- 26:01Speaker 1: The National Defense Authorization Act is what it's called. The
- 26:04Speaker 1: National Defense Authorization Act. It's part of a bigger bill
- 26:09Speaker 1: that would merge, basically, Israel and the U.S., what, military
- 26:15Speaker 1: or intelligence or... It's like a merger of the.
- 26:18Speaker 2: Military is what I read. I think our intelligence has
- 26:22Speaker 2: already been merged for years now.
- 26:24Speaker 1: I mean, this stuff should remain solely to the United
- 26:27Speaker 1: States of America, period. I'm with you. I'm dead set
- 26:30Speaker 1: against this. I'm absolutely 100% against this. And I also
- 26:35Speaker 1: agree with you. The inflation numbers, I don't buy them
- 26:38Speaker 1: at all. Inflation is just high. Have you got an
- 26:43Speaker 1: electric bill? I don't know if you're affected by it
- 26:45Speaker 1: like we are here in our neck of the woods.
- 26:47Speaker 1: The cost of electricity has doubled up here. And my
- 26:51Speaker 1: last electric bill was like $ 261. They really don't want
- 26:55Speaker 1: you using your dehumidifier and your air conditioner. These pompous
- 26:59Speaker 1: asses want you living like they do in France without
- 27:02Speaker 1: air conditioning and being hot and being miserable. And they're
- 27:05Speaker 1: going to get their wish if they continue to see
- 27:07Speaker 1: electric rates go up. And so a lot of people
- 27:10Speaker 1: are irate because our electric rates have doubled. They were
- 27:13Speaker 1: worried about the demand out there from these AI centers.
- 27:17Speaker 1: And so your electric's gone way up. Your gasoline's gone
- 27:21Speaker 1: way up. Who says inflation is down?
- 27:25Speaker 2: Well, we have one benefit here in Florida. When I
- 27:29Speaker 2: was analyzing AI stocks a few weeks ago, they were
- 27:33Speaker 2: saying that there is not enough fresh water in Florida
- 27:37Speaker 2: to build a lot of AI data centers in Florida.
- 27:42Speaker 2: But the rest of the country, let's see, what have
- 27:47Speaker 2: I said? You know, data centers will make all the
- 27:49Speaker 2: profits and homeowners will pay all the bills, according to
- 27:53Speaker 2: one analyst. And AI revenues are orders of magnitude lower
- 27:58Speaker 2: than the sums being invested. Ron, I've been reading that
- 28:02Speaker 2: for quite a while. AI data centers, I know the
- 28:08Speaker 2: options guy is... disagreed with me. He's very bullish on AI.
- 28:13Speaker 2: But I just haven't seen the return on investments. I
- 28:16Speaker 2: haven't seen big profits on these AI data centers or
- 28:21Speaker 2: stocks yet. In fact, there was an article in a
- 28:24Speaker 2: major investment publication a few days ago that says that
- 28:28Speaker 2: AI stocks are overvalued, and a lot of AI analysts
- 28:35Speaker 2: are predicting that they're not going to make the money
- 28:38Speaker 2: that people are predicting, and they're putting out sell recommendations
- 28:42Speaker 2: on a number of them.
- 28:43Speaker 1: Here's one for you, a headline from CNBC for Lauderdale. Frank, U.S.
- 28:47Speaker 1: grocery slowdown. Did you hear me? Grocery. I've got to
- 28:51Speaker 1: clear my throat. Maybe this smoke is getting to me, Frank. U.S.
- 28:54Speaker 1: grocery slowdown deepens as shoppers buy fewer items, raising pressures
- 28:59Speaker 1: on food companies. So who said inflation is down? Would
- 29:04Speaker 1: that indicate inflation is down based on a story I
- 29:06Speaker 1: just read? The U.S. grocery slowdown deepens as shoppers buy
- 29:10Speaker 1: fewer items. Would that be a sign of inflation being reduced? No.
- 29:15Speaker 2: When's the last time you saw prices go down for
- 29:18Speaker 2: eggs or milk or cat food or coffee? In fact,
- 29:22Speaker 2: I think you just read the report that coffee prices
- 29:25Speaker 2: are expected to go up again.
- 29:27Speaker 1: Well, the last time I had a good can of
- 29:29Speaker 1: cat food, I can't remember what I paid for it.
- 29:34Speaker 2: By the way, this will probably have to be another call,
- 29:37Speaker 2: but you had a young guy. called right before you
- 29:41Speaker 2: went on vacation.
- 29:42Speaker 1: Yes.
- 29:43Speaker 2: He says he hears me and you talking about Zionism
- 29:49Speaker 2: a lot, and he has no clue what it is. Well,
- 29:53Speaker 2: I'm going to call next week because I think that's important.
- 29:57Speaker 2: I think younger generation... now that we're going to have
- 30:00Speaker 2: the integration of the Israeli and U.S. military.
- 30:05Speaker 1: I sure hope we don't have that. I'm dead set
- 30:08Speaker 1: against it. I don't believe the U.S. military should be
- 30:12Speaker 1: merging with anybody at all. I mean, I don't know
- 30:15Speaker 1: where this comes from other than it shows you the
- 30:18Speaker 1: influence of those lobbying groups. All right, Fort Lauderdale, Frank,
- 30:22Speaker 1: I enjoyed my conversation with you today.
- 30:24Speaker 2: Great, Ron. Take care now.
- 30:26Speaker 1: All right, you too. We'll pause here. We'll come back
- 30:29Speaker 1: with more. Fort Lauderdale, Frank. How about that for a headline?
- 30:32Speaker 2: U.S.
- 30:32Speaker 1: Grocery slowdown deepens as shoppers buy fewer items. So is
- 30:36Speaker 1: that a sign of lower inflation? Or is that a
- 30:41Speaker 1: sign that says, gee, I'm paying more for gasoline and
- 30:43Speaker 1: paying more for electricity and paying more for everything. And
- 30:47Speaker 1: I only got so much money.
- 30:52Speaker 4: Stop in to Sapphire Essentials in 19... 570 WKBN.
- 30:57Speaker 1: Back to it. And Ron Ferb, you're on the air.
- 31:01Speaker 3: Ron, how you doing? Speak of the devil. I wasn't
- 31:03Speaker 3: going to talk about options. I said I'm going to
- 31:06Speaker 3: break my own rule today just to educate Frank. I
- 31:09Speaker 3: don't think he has a grasp of options or hedging
- 31:13Speaker 3: a personal account. And I don't know what his net
- 31:16Speaker 3: worth is, but I think I'm many, many, many, many
- 31:20Speaker 3: billions ahead of Frank. And Mike, Ron, again, I sold
- 31:26Speaker 3: this morning put options, cash secured out of the money. So, yeah,
- 31:32Speaker 3: right now Micron is selling at $ 846. I sold out
- 31:37Speaker 3: of the money contracts at $ 600. And what you want
- 31:42Speaker 3: to do with options, you want them with cash secured puts, Frank,
- 31:46Speaker 3: if you listen to this, you want them to expire.
- 31:49Speaker 3: You collect your premiums. And then you wash and repeat.
- 31:53Speaker 3: You do that every... I write three-weeks to four-week contracts.
- 31:58Speaker 3: But what I wanted to talk about was Trump, Carolyn Leavitt,
- 32:03Speaker 3: and the fires from Canada.
- 32:06Speaker 5: Yes.
- 32:06Speaker 3: Let me get back real quick to options again. It's
- 32:11Speaker 3: amazing that people, you know, talk about things that they
- 32:15Speaker 3: have no knowledge of, but or no experience doing and
- 32:20Speaker 3: right now i have over two hundred option contracts are
- 32:26Speaker 3: written and sold to you that would mean nothing but
- 32:30Speaker 3: to a guy like say andrew the accountant that calls
- 32:33Speaker 3: or on your show that is a lot a lot
- 32:37Speaker 3: of money and the bulk of those are in cash
- 32:40Speaker 3: secured puts and twenty percent are in.
- 32:43Speaker 1: Covered calls Yeah, you guys are talking so far over
- 32:47Speaker 1: my head, I'm totally lost.
- 32:49Speaker 3: Yeah, that's why I'm not going to talk about it,
- 32:51Speaker 3: because people tell me at coffee, don't talk about options.
- 32:54Speaker 3: You're boring the audience.
- 32:58Speaker 1: Listen, I'll say this. I think you're a really smart guy.
- 33:00Speaker 1: I have great admiration for you. I wish I knew
- 33:03Speaker 1: half of what you know, and I know you've done
- 33:06Speaker 1: extremely well and extremely successful. I commend you for the
- 33:09Speaker 1: knowledge you have. You're just so far over my head,
- 33:12Speaker 1: it's hard for me to follow.
- 33:13Speaker 3: Okay, here's my, leading in, such weighing into my next point,
- 33:17Speaker 3: I use AI to do, have you, do you use
- 33:21Speaker 3: AI at all in your?
- 33:22Speaker 1: Yes.
- 33:23Speaker 3: Okay, I use it extensively in investing, and especially with options.
- 33:28Speaker 3: I use, my favorite is Grok, Gemini, and occasionally Copilot.
- 33:34Speaker 3: And what I do, this used to take me, Ron,
- 33:38Speaker 3: three hours a day. What I do now is I
- 33:41Speaker 3: use Grok, I'll run a trade by it like a
- 33:43Speaker 3: vertical spread on an option. I ask it where I
- 33:47Speaker 3: had to use the probability calculator that Schwab gives me
- 33:51Speaker 3: and do my own work. I could ask AI, and
- 33:55Speaker 3: Glock is really nice. It's just like Alexa, the same voice.
- 33:59Speaker 3: But anyway, I ask it, is this trade going to
- 34:02Speaker 3: be profitable? What's the probability on it of expiring or
- 34:06Speaker 3: not expiring? And.
- 34:10Speaker 3: Within a minute or two minutes, it'll run the numbers
- 34:13Speaker 3: and then ask me, this is the AI is talking
- 34:17Speaker 3: to me, would you like me to run another scenario
- 34:20Speaker 3: farther out of the money or deep in the money? And,
- 34:24Speaker 3: you know, it'll give you different scenarios. And it's amazing
- 34:28Speaker 3: what AI can do. I use it a lot for business,
- 34:33Speaker 3: but I use it also for medical information, health, Just
- 34:39Speaker 3: general anything. It's the future that we're not going back on.
- 34:44Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
- 34:47Speaker 3: But anyway, let me get back to what I was
- 34:49Speaker 3: going to call, and I don't want to bore the
- 34:51Speaker 3: audience because everybody tells me to shut up. You probably
- 34:55Speaker 3: didn't catch Carolyn Leavitt's press conference today.
- 34:58Speaker 1: I did not. Tell me about it.
- 34:59Speaker 3: One of her better press conferences, and leading into you've
- 35:03Speaker 3: got to watch Trump tonight at 9 p.m., I think
- 35:07Speaker 3: he's going to have a good chance to win back
- 35:10Speaker 3: a lot of his supporters. In fact, he's going to
- 35:15Speaker 3: talk about the safe and secure elections, but he's also
- 35:18Speaker 3: going to bring up election fraud and evidence how there
- 35:22Speaker 3: was election tampering, which I've been waiting for years for
- 35:26Speaker 3: some accountability. And if he does that, he's going to
- 35:30Speaker 3: win back a lot of people. And the second point
- 35:33Speaker 3: is the war.
- 35:35Speaker 1: Now, pause for a second. So he's going to talk.
- 35:38Speaker 1: Is he going to go back to the 2020 election
- 35:40Speaker 1: and all this kind of stuff? I mean, he's going
- 35:43Speaker 1: to address the nation, they say tonight, about the SAFE Act?
- 35:51Speaker 3: Yes, and election fraud. He's going to go back to 2020.
- 35:54Speaker 3: And I agree. I also listened to Alex Jones's... Stand.
- 36:00Speaker 1: By for me. Stand by. Let me do my headlines
- 36:02Speaker 1: and I'll come back to you. News Radio 570 WKBN
- 36:05Speaker 1: and Ron Furb. Call us online. Stand by. We conversate
- 36:08Speaker 1: till 5. Legal Show 5 to 6. John Arnold 6
- 36:10Speaker 1: to 7.
- 36:11Speaker 4: News Radio 570 WKBN.
- 36:14Speaker 1: I'm back to it. And Ron Furb, you're on the air.
- 36:18Speaker 3: Ron, how you doing? Speak of the devil.
- 36:20Speaker 1: Yes.
- 36:20Speaker 3: I wasn't going to talk about options. I said I'm
- 36:22Speaker 3: going to break my own rule today. Just to educate Frank,
- 36:26Speaker 3: I don't think he has a grasp of options or
- 36:29Speaker 3: hedging a personal account. And I don't know what his
- 36:32Speaker 3: net worth is, but I think I'm many, many, many,
- 36:37Speaker 3: many billions ahead of Frank. And Micron, again, I sold
- 36:43Speaker 3: this morning put options, cash secured out of the money. So, yeah,
- 36:49Speaker 3: right now Micron is selling at $ 8. 46 million. I sold
- 36:54Speaker 3: out-of-the-money contracts at $ 600. And what you want to do
- 36:59Speaker 3: with options, you want them with cash-secured puts, Frank, if
- 37:03Speaker 3: you listen to this. You want them to expire. You
- 37:06Speaker 3: collect your premium, and then you wash and repeat. You
- 37:10Speaker 3: do that every... I write three-weeks to four-week contracts. But
- 37:15Speaker 3: what I wanted to talk about was Trump, Carolyn Leavitt,

- 37:23Speaker 1: Yes.
- 37:23Speaker 3: Let me get back real quick to options again. It's
- 37:28Speaker 3: amazing that people, you know, talk about things that they
- 37:31Speaker 3: have no knowledge of or no experience doing. And right now,
- 37:37Speaker 3: I have over 200 option contracts written and sold. And
- 37:45Speaker 3: to you, that would mean nothing. But to a guy like, say, Andrew,
- 37:48Speaker 3: the accountant that calls on your show... That is a lot,
- 37:53Speaker 3: a lot of money. And the bulk of those are
- 37:56Speaker 3: in cash secured puts, and 20% are in covered calls.
- 38:02Speaker 1: Yeah, you guys are talking so far over my head,
- 38:04Speaker 1: I'm totally lost.
- 38:06Speaker 3: Yeah, that's why I'm not going to talk about it,
- 38:08Speaker 3: because people tell me at coffee, don't talk about options.
- 38:11Speaker 3: You're boring the audience.
- 38:14Speaker 1: Listen, I'll say this. I think you're a really smart guy.
- 38:17Speaker 1: I have great admiration for you. I wish I knew

- 38:39Speaker 1: Yes.
- 38:40Speaker 3: Okay, I use it extensively in investing, and especially with options.
- 38:45Speaker 3: I use, my favorite is Grok, Gemini, and occasionally Copilot.
- 38:50Speaker 3: And what I do, this used to take me, Ron,

- 38:57Speaker 3: use Grok, I'll run a trade by it like a
- 39:00Speaker 3: vertical spread on an option. I ask it where I
- 39:04Speaker 3: had to use the probability calculator that Schwab gives me
- 39:08Speaker 3: and do my own work. I could ask AI, and
- 39:11Speaker 3: Grok is really nice. It's just like Alexa, the same voice.
- 39:16Speaker 3: But anyway, I ask it, is this trade going to
- 39:19Speaker 3: be profitable? What's the probability on it of expiring or
- 39:23Speaker 3: not expiring?
- 39:24Speaker 2: And.
- 39:27Speaker 3: Within a minute or two minutes, it'll run the numbers.

- 39:50Speaker 3: but I use it also for medical information, health, just
- 39:56Speaker 3: general anything. It's the future that we're not going back on.
- 40:01Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
- 40:04Speaker 3: But anyway, let me get back to what I was
- 40:05Speaker 3: going to call, and I don't want to bore the
- 40:08Speaker 3: audience because everybody tells me to shut up. You probably
- 40:12Speaker 3: didn't catch Carolyn Leavitt's press conference today.
- 40:14Speaker 1: I did not. Tell me about it.
- 40:16Speaker 3: One of her better press conferences, and leading into you've
- 40:20Speaker 3: got to watch Trump tonight at 9 p.m., I think
- 40:24Speaker 3: he's going to have a good chance to win back
- 40:27Speaker 3: a lot of his supporters if, in fact, he comes up.
- 40:32Speaker 3: He's going to talk about the safe and secure elections,
- 40:35Speaker 3: but he's also going to bring up election fraud. and
- 40:38Speaker 3: evidence how there was election tampering, which I've been waiting
- 40:41Speaker 3: for years for some accountability. And if he does that,
- 40:46Speaker 3: he's going to win back a lot of people. And
- 40:49Speaker 3: the second point is the war.
- 40:51Speaker 1: Now, pause for a second. So he's going to talk.
- 40:54Speaker 1: Is he going to go back to the 2020 election
- 40:57Speaker 1: and all this kind of stuff? I mean, he's going
- 41:00Speaker 1: to address the nation, they say tonight, about what the
- 41:06Speaker 1: SAFE Act is.
- 41:08Speaker 3: Yes, and election fraud. He's going to go back to 2020.
- 41:11Speaker 3: And I also listened to Alex Jones's.
- 41:16Speaker 1: Stand by for me. Stand by. Let me do my headlines,
- 41:19Speaker 1: and I'll come back to you. News Radio 570, Dodie
- 41:22Speaker 1: Curien and Ron Furb. Call us on the line. Stand by.
- 41:24Speaker 1: We conversate till 5. We go show 5 to 6.
- 41:26Speaker 1: John Arnold, 6 to 7. News Radio 570 WKVS.
- 41:30Speaker 4: Buckeye State is dealing with thick smoke from up north.
- 41:36Speaker 6: An air quality advisory issued by the Ohio EPA in
- 41:39Speaker 6: effect for the entire state as Canadian wildfire smoke is
- 41:42Speaker 6: moving south, with the northern part of Ohio expected to
- 41:45Speaker 6: see dense near-surface smoke, which is unhealthy for everyone, especially
- 41:48Speaker 6: for those who have asthma, COPD, or other respiratory conditions,
- 41:52Speaker 6: and will reduce visibility. Cities like Toledo, Akron, and Cleveland
- 41:55Speaker 6: with the worst conditions... And they get worse the closer
- 41:58Speaker 6: you are to the lake. I'm Sean Gallagher.
- 42:01Speaker 7: Two workers were airlifted with life-threatening injuries yesterday afternoon following
- 42:05Speaker 7: an explosion at a well drilling site in Fulton County.
- 42:08Speaker 7: Investigators say a crew installing a new water well may
- 42:12Speaker 7: have hit a natural gas pocket, triggering the blast. Two
- 42:15Speaker 7: children inside a nearby home were not hurt. The cause
- 42:18Speaker 7: of the explosion remains under investigation. I'm Andy Betts.

- 42:30Speaker 5: Free.
- 42:30Speaker 1: Never sounded so good. A to Z dependable services. All right,
- 42:34Speaker 1: back to it. Let me just tell you, I mean,
- 42:36Speaker 1: this is a really smart guy, and he's a savvy
- 42:39Speaker 1: investment guy. But but, you know, you're so far over
- 42:43Speaker 1: my head on that. Now, I want to shift. I
- 42:45Speaker 1: want to shift you. I hear this stuff about Trump
- 42:48Speaker 1: talking tonight and it's going to be at nine o'clock. Obviously,
- 42:51Speaker 1: I'll watch it. But I mean, is is he going
- 42:54Speaker 1: to drone on about how he really won a 2020
- 42:57Speaker 1: election or what? I mean, what is this is going
- 43:00Speaker 1: to be about the Save Act or whatever. Save America Act.
- 43:04Speaker 1: As far as election goes, I mean.
- 43:06Speaker 3: I think in secure elections. But with Carolyn Leavitt was
- 43:11Speaker 3: implying that he's going to bring up election fraud evidence
- 43:17Speaker 3: and how China was involved. And do you really believe
- 43:21Speaker 3: Joe Biden got 81 million votes in 2020? No, I don't.
- 43:25Speaker 1: I think that whole election was during covid. i'm glad
- 43:29Speaker 1: you asked that question i mean am i do i'm
- 43:31Speaker 1: i convinced that we have secure elections today i don't
- 43:35Speaker 1: support any state that mails out ballots like california that
- 43:40Speaker 1: just mails out ballots to everybody as i say you
- 43:43Speaker 1: could be dead you could have moved you don't know
- 43:46Speaker 1: who's voting that ballot there's the states who just mail
- 43:50Speaker 1: everybody a ballot i i have no confidence in the
- 43:54Speaker 1: that system at all. I have zero confidence in it
- 43:58Speaker 1: on any federal election or any local election. So my
- 44:01Speaker 1: answer to you is no. The Democrats and the politicians
- 44:07Speaker 1: have taken me to a point where I've, can I,
- 44:12Speaker 1: bear with me for a minute, where I don't have
- 44:14Speaker 1: a lot of faith in the judicial system anymore, and
- 44:17Speaker 1: I don't have much faith in the voting system anymore.
- 44:21Speaker 1: The judicial system is becoming too political. And I always
- 44:25Speaker 1: thought all judges were the same when I was growing up.
- 44:28Speaker 1: They would listen to the facts of the case, and
- 44:30Speaker 1: they would make their decision based on the facts and
- 44:32Speaker 1: the Constitution, whether you were guilty or innocent. It had
- 44:36Speaker 1: nothing to do with politics and whether they're liberal or
- 44:42Speaker 1: or conservative. You follow what I mean? Just give me
- 44:44Speaker 1: a fair shot in front of the judge, and politics
- 44:47Speaker 1: shouldn't be a factor. Well, I think politics has entered
- 44:50Speaker 1: judicial decisions in many cases on local cases when it
- 44:54Speaker 1: comes to many of these things that are going on
- 44:58Speaker 1: in our country. So I'm losing faith in a judicial system.
- 45:02Speaker 1: And I certainly have lost faith in the voting system.
- 45:05Speaker 1: Do I think the COVID vote? I mean, during COVID,
- 45:08Speaker 1: the whole thing stunk to high heaven as far as
- 45:10Speaker 1: I was concerned. And I'm losing faith in it daily
- 45:15Speaker 1: by these states mailing out ballots to everybody. In Ohio,
- 45:19Speaker 1: we do it the right way. In Ohio and in Florida,
- 45:21Speaker 1: they do it the right way. But unfortunately, there are
- 45:24Speaker 1: many states that do not. I believe you should show
- 45:27Speaker 1: an ID when you go and vote. You should have
- 45:29Speaker 1: to show an ID. You should have to be a U.S.
- 45:31Speaker 1: citizen to vote, period.
- 45:34Speaker 3: Yes, that's what Carolyn Leavitt was getting at. She brought
- 45:37Speaker 3: up the primary in California, that joke that they kept
- 45:43Speaker 3: extending and extending and extending until the Republican was off
- 45:46Speaker 3: the ballot.
- 45:47Speaker 1: Right, right.
- 45:48Speaker 3: And uh and then she chastised the press she said
- 45:52Speaker 3: after trump speaks tonight i want you guys to report
- 45:56Speaker 3: accurately what he said and you know let's get this
- 46:00Speaker 3: out in the open that we're having problems with our
- 46:02Speaker 3: elections and so we'll see i i i have high
- 46:07Speaker 3: hopes and the other thing that um Alex Jones was
- 46:11Speaker 3: bringing up that he might bring up the Iran war about...
- 46:17Speaker 3: You can't do it with an air campaign. I mean,
- 46:19Speaker 3: you can't... We're not going to win the war through
- 46:23Speaker 3: the air. You're going to have to have boots on
- 46:25Speaker 3: the ground. So he implied that we might have a
- 46:29Speaker 3: coalition of troops, or maybe the Israelis would come in
- 46:34Speaker 3: and be our partners on the ground, which I would...
- 46:37Speaker 3: I don't want American boots on the ground. If the
- 46:39Speaker 3: Israelis want to do that, we'll back them up, let
- 46:42Speaker 3: them go in. But I hope he addresses that point.
- 46:46Speaker 1: Would you agree with me? He created a mess, he
- 46:49Speaker 1: being President Trump in this situation in Iran. Listen, I
- 46:53Speaker 1: voted for Trump. I'm a Trumpster and all that kind
- 46:55Speaker 1: of stuff. But I can certainly criticize him. And this
- 46:59Speaker 1: mission that he got us involved in is a mess
- 47:03Speaker 1: and was a mistake from day one. I don't know
- 47:06Speaker 1: that you can unring the bell low. So where do
- 47:09Speaker 1: you go from here? I don't know that.
- 47:13Speaker 3: Trump hates to admit that he ever made a mistake.
- 47:16Speaker 1: That's correct.
- 47:16Speaker 3: That's one of his flaws.
- 47:17Speaker 5: Yep.
- 47:18Speaker 3: And he's done that with COVID, where Operation Warp Speed
- 47:23Speaker 3: was his baby, and it was the best thing that
- 47:26Speaker 3: ever happened. And he won't admit that it was a
- 47:29Speaker 3: mistake and it hurt a lot of people. I don't
- 47:32Speaker 3: know if you follow Senator Johnson's... Senate hearings on COVID
- 47:37Speaker 3: and the VAERS reporting that was covered up. It's coming out.
- 47:42Speaker 3: It's fascinating. And, of course, the mainstream media, no one
- 47:46Speaker 3: knows about it because no one's going to report it.
- 47:49Speaker 3: The number of side effects, sudden deaths, turbo cancers among
- 47:53Speaker 3: the young, health issues, it's mind-blowing. But because Trump, that
- 48:01Speaker 3: was his baby, I think he's sort of not letting
- 48:04Speaker 3: it come out, and that's what I'd knock them on, that.
- 48:09Speaker 1: Right, I mean, the problem is, I don't think that
- 48:12Speaker 1: he's holding anybody accountable for a lot of stuff. I mean,
- 48:16Speaker 1: I can't see, I can talk about Epstein, I can
- 48:20Speaker 1: talk about the situation in Iran, I can talk about
- 48:26Speaker 1: we don't want to get involved in bogged down regime
- 48:30Speaker 1: change wars in the Middle East. I mean, there's a
- 48:33Speaker 1: lot that he's disappointed me in. I mean, make no mistake,
- 48:36Speaker 1: I would never vote for Harris or Biden or I
- 48:40Speaker 1: wouldn't vote for any of these crazy Democrats. But the
- 48:43Speaker 1: reality is that this mess that he created is a
- 48:48Speaker 1: giant mess and trying to figure out how it's just escalating.
- 48:52Speaker 1: It's not getting better. It's getting worse.
- 48:54Speaker 3: Well, he's got a chance to get his poll numbers
- 48:57Speaker 3: up tonight and to give us some clarity on the
- 49:00Speaker 3: war situation. Give us some clarity on the elections and accountability.
- 49:04Speaker 3: And if he does that, I mean, he's going to
- 49:06Speaker 3: win me back.
- 49:07Speaker 1: Well, I'm curious what your interpretation of it is tomorrow.
- 49:11Speaker 1: So make sure you call me and let me know.
- 49:12Speaker 3: Yeah, I can't wait to hear them tonight. Let me
- 49:14Speaker 3: get back real quick to the forest fires. You know,
- 49:17Speaker 3: I'm getting sick of this every year, the fires coming
- 49:20Speaker 3: down from Canada. When did this start? About five, six
- 49:23Speaker 3: years ago? It's the same policies in Canada that they
- 49:27Speaker 3: have in California. The liberals will not manage their forests.
- 49:32Speaker 3: They have dry vegetation, and then when you have a drought,
- 49:36Speaker 3: you get I don't think they're saying it's lightning strikes.
- 49:40Speaker 3: I think it's arson myself. But if you have good
- 49:44Speaker 3: management policies and common sense on how to, you know,
- 49:49Speaker 3: take care of a forest, you won't have these problems.
- 49:52Speaker 3: It was really bad today. I went down to coffee.
- 49:55Speaker 3: We have a guy that rides a bike down there
- 49:57Speaker 3: every day, four miles or three miles, and he wrote
- 50:02Speaker 3: it down today, and I said, you've got to be crazy.
- 50:06Speaker 3: and I drove by Stambaugh Municipal Golf Course, you should
- 50:09Speaker 3: have seen the guys out golfing. I mean, the air
- 50:12Speaker 3: was really bad, and I'm looking out now. You could
- 50:15Speaker 3: actually cut that smoke with a knife.
- 50:17Speaker 1: Yeah, it's very visible, and you can smell it. I mean,
- 50:21Speaker 1: it's got an odor to it, in addition to being
- 50:24Speaker 1: able to see how thick the smoke is. But let's
- 50:27Speaker 1: be realistic. People have got to go to work. You've
- 50:30Speaker 1: still got guys out pouring concrete driveways. You've still got
- 50:33Speaker 1: the landscapers out. You've still got the guys from Ohio
- 50:35Speaker 1: Edison out. There's plenty of people that don't have the
- 50:38Speaker 1: option not to be outside and working.
- 50:40Speaker 3: I feel sorry for those poor guys. And real quick,
- 50:43Speaker 3: talking about guys working outside, did you see the three
- 50:46Speaker 3: Trumbull County commissioners put an end to the fiber optic
- 50:51Speaker 3: laying in Trumbull County because of all the accidents?
- 50:54Speaker 1: Well, what's the alternative? I mean, OK, so what?
- 50:59Speaker 3: Here's the alternative. Hire a competent company to put your
- 51:03Speaker 3: fiber optics in. That's T-Mobile hired this, I think it's
- 51:07Speaker 3: called Lumina. And I made a joke to a couple
- 51:11Speaker 3: of people. I should call ICE because all of the
- 51:13Speaker 3: guys that work. They don't speak English. They're all Mexicans.
- 51:17Speaker 1: Yeah, but, I mean, what has that got to do
- 51:19Speaker 1: with putting a cable in?
- 51:21Speaker 3: Well, they're hitting water mains.
- 51:25Speaker 1: Right, but, I mean, they're going underground. They mark the utilities.
- 51:30Speaker 1: What's the answer to this? I mean, what they're doing
- 51:34Speaker 1: is they're in the easement. They have a right to
- 51:36Speaker 1: be there because that's where the easement is, obviously, because
- 51:40Speaker 1: they're hitting stuff. How do you put the fiber underground? Competently.
- 51:46Speaker 3: They laid it in our township last year. And within
- 51:51Speaker 3: my five-block area of my home, they hit a couple
- 51:55Speaker 3: of water mains in the Youngstown Water Department. I mean,
- 51:58Speaker 3: these were big, big water breaks. And these guys, I
- 52:02Speaker 3: don't know if they don't know what they're doing.
- 52:05Speaker 1: Well, remember, you mark the utilities and you're going underground.
- 52:09Speaker 1: You can't visually see. You're slinging this thing underground. I
- 52:14Speaker 1: don't know what the answer to this is. I mean,
- 52:16Speaker 1: I don't know where you go.
- 52:22Speaker 3: My hat's off to the Trumbull County commissioners that are
- 52:25Speaker 3: putting a stop to it until they find out why
- 52:28Speaker 3: this particular company is having so many problems. And they've
- 52:32Speaker 3: had problems in Youngstown and in Liberty Township. Now they're
- 52:37Speaker 3: further up north. But I was glad to see that.
- 52:41Speaker 3: I said, finally, someone's going to You know, I don't want.
- 52:44Speaker 1: Okay, but with all due respect, now what do you do?
- 52:47Speaker 1: How do you put the fiber... In my neighborhood, we
- 52:51Speaker 1: have underground utilities. We don't have phone poles. So how
- 52:54Speaker 1: do you put it in the ground?
- 52:56Speaker 3: Well, you have to do it in a safe manner.
- 52:59Speaker 1: How do you do that?
- 53:01Speaker 3: The commissioners want to find out. They want to find
- 53:04Speaker 3: out what the problems are with this particular company, why
- 53:07Speaker 3: they've had so many more problems than other companies.
- 53:11Speaker 2: And.
- 53:13Speaker 3: It's all T-Mobile cable that they're putting in. And their
- 53:19Speaker 3: company is called Lumina. And they hire a lot of
- 53:22Speaker 3: guys that... You know, I have nothing.
- 53:26Speaker 1: I have no prejudice against, you know, if you're saying, well,
- 53:29Speaker 1: they can't speak English or they're Mexican. Well, they're at
- 53:32Speaker 1: least out there doing the work. That doesn't mean they're
- 53:33Speaker 1: lousy at their job or lousy workers. I don't go
- 53:36Speaker 1: for that one bit. It means they show up and
- 53:39Speaker 1: they're willing to do the work and move from town
- 53:41Speaker 1: to town to do this kind of work where we
- 53:44Speaker 1: got a lot of Americans, obviously, that don't want to
- 53:46Speaker 1: do it.
- 53:47Speaker 3: Right. Not only that, these guys work like– sometimes they'll
- 53:50Speaker 3: be out there 12– when they did my neighborhood, they
- 53:52Speaker 3: were out there 12, 14 hours a day. Right.
- 53:55Speaker 1: I mean, I applaud any hardworking person, any hardworking person.
- 53:59Speaker 1: But I would say to any of these commissioners, okay,
- 54:01Speaker 1: so what's the answer here? They are running this system underground.
- 54:06Speaker 1: They get the utilities marked. They think that they're missing it,
- 54:09Speaker 1: and maybe the utility is not marked properly or it's missed. Right.
- 54:16Speaker 1: And we've had gas explosions. We've had water mains hit.
- 54:19Speaker 1: We've had other lines that have been injured as a
- 54:22Speaker 1: result of it. Well, how do you– I don't know
- 54:24Speaker 1: what the answer is. How do you put it under–
- 54:28Speaker 1: in the ground?
- 54:29Speaker 3: Well, they're going to– my hat's off to them again.
- 54:32Speaker 3: They're going to investigate and find out. At least they–
- 54:36Speaker 3: those politicians did something that the Youngstown officials wouldn't do
- 54:41Speaker 3: and my township officials wouldn't do. They said, whoa, what's
- 54:45Speaker 3: going on? We've got to find out. You know, we
- 54:47Speaker 3: don't want these incidents happening.
- 54:49Speaker 1: But I would hear people bitching, oh, look at what
- 54:51Speaker 1: they're doing in the yard. Well, that's really not your yard.
- 54:53Speaker 1: There's an easement there. I mean, when people get this way,
- 54:56Speaker 1: I'm thinking, you know what? Would you prefer them not
- 54:59Speaker 1: to fix your electric line or your water line or
- 55:02Speaker 1: whatever else is there? This is how, if you're in
- 55:05Speaker 1: a neighborhood like mine and a lot of people's neighborhoods,
- 55:07Speaker 1: you have underground utilities. Well, everything is buried. Well, if
- 55:11Speaker 1: you've got to change something out or... upgrade something. How
- 55:16Speaker 1: do you do that?
- 55:17Speaker 3: You're in the high rent district. God bless you. But
- 55:20Speaker 3: a lot of people don't realize.
- 55:21Speaker 1: You're the last one to say that with your wealth,
- 55:24Speaker 1: believe me.
- 55:25Speaker 3: Yeah. A lot of people don't realize they don't own
- 55:28Speaker 3: out to the street.
- 55:29Speaker 1: Right.
- 55:29Speaker 3: I mean, your grass goes out to the street, but
- 55:32Speaker 3: that's not your property.
- 55:33Speaker 1: Right. So there's an easement there for utilities. And they're
- 55:37Speaker 1: operating within that easement. What are they trying? They're not
- 55:40Speaker 1: doing some sinister thing. They're trying to run a fiber
- 55:42Speaker 1: optic cable so that it's there for people. And all
- 55:46Speaker 1: these people will tie into it and will use it.
- 55:49Speaker 1: That's all they're trying to do. I mean, I don't
- 55:51Speaker 1: know what the other option is. All right.
- 55:54Speaker 3: There's only one way to get it in. So I'll
- 55:57Speaker 3: let other callers get on the line and I'll... We'll
- 56:00Speaker 3: see what Trump says, and I hope it's a positive speech.
- 56:03Speaker 1: Well, give me some analysis tomorrow. I appreciate it. You're
- 56:07Speaker 1: on the air.
- 56:08Speaker 8: Hey, Ron, it's David Thomas.
- 56:11Speaker 1: I'm sorry, Dave. I was looking for you. All right,
- 56:13Speaker 1: Dave Thomas is out at— are you out at the Trumbull
- 56:16Speaker 1: County Fair?
- 56:16Speaker 8: I was going to say you may want to check
- 56:19Speaker 8: your cough, because there are people coughing here, too.
- 56:21Speaker 1: That was a little theater of the mind here, David,
- 56:25Speaker 1: a little show business. But you're out at the Trumbull
- 56:28Speaker 1: County Fair?
- 56:29Speaker 8: Yeah, I actually have a hard time even seeing the
- 56:31Speaker 8: Ferris wheel.
- 56:32Speaker 1: I got to tell you something, though, folks, and listen
- 56:35Speaker 1: to me. If you run into Dave Thomas at the
- 56:37Speaker 1: Trumbull County Fair or wherever, you go up and shake
- 56:40Speaker 1: his hand and thank him for all that he's done
- 56:41Speaker 1: for all of us. I mean, you know, the guff
- 56:44Speaker 1: that this guy has taken and the criticism he's taken
- 56:47Speaker 1: from making things better for all of us is just terrific.
- 56:53Speaker 1: I want to talk to you about that. So we
- 56:55Speaker 1: got the re-evaluations here in Mahoning County. that Meacham said, oh,
- 57:01Speaker 1: that's went up 25% or whatever. Talk to people about
- 57:04Speaker 1: the legislation that you got approved, which will at least
- 57:10Speaker 1: hold back as big increases you would get without this legislation.
- 57:15Speaker 1: Explain that so our listeners understand. This is what Dave
- 57:18Speaker 1: Thomas did for all of us on these new re-evaluations
- 57:22Speaker 1: that said, oh, your properties were 25% more. The old way,
- 57:26Speaker 1: you would get it. Explain how it would work the
- 57:28Speaker 1: old way and what you changed for everybody.
- 57:31Speaker 8: Yes. So first, big kudos to the Mahoning County Commissioners
- 57:35Speaker 8: and the Columbiana and the Trumbull County Commissioners for doubling
- 57:38Speaker 8: the owner occupancy credit. So that is one way folks
- 57:42Speaker 8: will already see a difference in their tax bill in January.
- 57:46Speaker 8: Regardless of what happens with values, that credit will double
- 57:50Speaker 8: average of about an extra $ 100 or so in savings.
- 57:54Speaker 8: What is changing with the bills that we passed last year,
- 57:57Speaker 8: your property values will keep changing. They'll go up, they'll
- 58:01Speaker 8: go down. Like Ralph said, Mahoney County increasing by 25%.
- 58:06Speaker 8: Under the previous law, what had essentially broken with the
- 58:10Speaker 8: property tax system in the last six years, that 25%
- 58:14Speaker 8: meant a huge unvoted spike in your tax bill. It
- 58:18Speaker 8: meant essentially that your property value was tied directly to
- 58:21Speaker 8: your tax amount, and as your property value went up,
- 58:25Speaker 8: your tax bill went up right along with it. And
- 58:27Speaker 8: that's why we've seen all the spikes.
- 58:30Speaker 1: It would go up 25%, correct? Correct.
- 58:33Speaker 8: Maybe not quite 25%, but maybe 17%, 20%. There were portions,
- 58:37Speaker 8: you know, when you vote for a levy, regardless of
- 58:41Speaker 8: however those values move, that levy brings in the same
- 58:44Speaker 8: amount of money, but there are portions of your tax
- 58:46Speaker 8: bill that are tied directly to your value, and those
- 58:49Speaker 8: are what really spiked up to your school, to Township, Village, City, County,
- 58:55Speaker 8: but those really kind of just skyrocketed with the higher values.
- 58:59Speaker 8: So 25% increase in your value, probably, yeah, like a 17, 18, 20%
- 59:04Speaker 8: increase in your tax bill.
- 59:05Speaker 1: So what, and now listen to this. Everybody listen to this.
- 59:08Speaker 1: This is what Dave Thomas did. for you. Explain.
- 59:12Speaker 8: So now with our bills we passed last year, your
- 59:15Speaker 8: value can increase by 25%, but that is now capped
- 59:19Speaker 8: in terms of the tax amount. The revenue coming into
- 59:22Speaker 8: all those local governments is now capped to inflation. Whatever
- 59:26Speaker 8: inflation has been, it's now capped. for them so that
- 59:30Speaker 8: your tax bill will not see that spike, won't go
- 59:33Speaker 8: up nearly as much. It still will increase, but by
- 59:36Speaker 8: an inflationary amount versus what you have been seeing over
- 59:39Speaker 8: the last six years, which was huge unvoted spikes.
- 59:42Speaker 1: Right. Instead of getting a 17% increase, let's say you
- 59:45Speaker 1: would get a, what, a 4% or 5% increase?
- 59:49Speaker 2: Yep.
- 59:49Speaker 8: I don't know the exact numbers for this year. I
- 59:51Speaker 8: think those will be calculated here pretty soon, but there'll
- 59:53Speaker 8: be some much smaller amount of increase.
- 59:57Speaker 1: Stand by, Dave Thomas. Dave Thomas talking to us live
- 1:00:01Speaker 1: from the Trumbull County Fair. Back with Dave after this
- 1:00:03Speaker 1: and more of your calls.
- 1:00:04Speaker 4: Now, Ron Verb on NewsRadio 570 WKBN. All right, back
- 1:00:11Speaker 4: to it.
- 1:00:12Speaker 1: Let me just tell you, I mean, this is a
- 1:00:13Speaker 1: really smart guy, and he's a savvy investment guy. But,
- 1:00:17Speaker 1: you know, you're so far over my head on that. Now,
- 1:00:20Speaker 1: I want to shift you. I hear this stuff about
- 1:00:24Speaker 1: Trump talking tonight, and it's going to be at 9 o'clock. Obviously,
- 1:00:27Speaker 1: I'll watch it. But, I mean, is he going to
- 1:00:30Speaker 1: drone on about how he really won a 2020 election?
- 1:00:35Speaker 1: I mean, this is going to be about the SAVE
- 1:00:38Speaker 1: Act or whatever, SAVE America Act, As far as election goes,
- 1:00:42Speaker 1: I mean, I'll be safe.
- 1:00:43Speaker 3: And secure elections. But with Carolyn Leavitt was implying that
- 1:00:48Speaker 3: he's going to bring up election fraud evidence and how
- 1:00:54Speaker 3: China was involved. And do you really believe Joe Biden
- 1:00:58Speaker 3: got 81 million votes in 2020?
- 1:01:00Speaker 1: No, I don't. I think that whole election was during covid.
- 1:01:05Speaker 1: I'm glad you asked that question. I mean, am I
- 1:01:08Speaker 1: convinced that we have secure elections today? I don't support
- 1:01:12Speaker 1: any state. that mails out ballots, like California, that just
- 1:01:17Speaker 1: mails out ballots to everybody. As I say, you could
- 1:01:20Speaker 1: be dead. You could have moved. You don't know who's
- 1:01:23Speaker 1: voting that ballot. The states that just mail everybody a ballot,
- 1:01:27Speaker 1: I have no confidence in that system at all. I
- 1:01:32Speaker 1: have zero confidence in it on any federal election or
- 1:01:36Speaker 1: any local election. So my answer to you is no.
- 1:01:39Speaker 1: The Democrats... And the politicians have taken me to a
- 1:01:44Speaker 1: point where I've, can I, bear with me for a minute,
- 1:01:50Speaker 1: where I don't have a lot of faith in the
- 1:01:52Speaker 1: judicial system anymore, and I don't have much faith in
- 1:01:55Speaker 1: the voting system anymore. The judicial system is becoming too political.
- 1:02:01Speaker 1: And I always thought all judges were the same when
- 1:02:03Speaker 1: I was growing up. They would listen to the facts
- 1:02:06Speaker 1: of the case and they would make their decision based
- 1:02:08Speaker 1: on the facts and the Constitution, whether you were guilty
- 1:02:11Speaker 1: or innocent. It had nothing to do with politics and justice.
- 1:02:17Speaker 1: whether they're liberal or conservative. You follow what I mean?
- 1:02:20Speaker 1: Just give me a fair shot in front of the judge,
- 1:02:23Speaker 1: and politics shouldn't be a factor. Well, I think politics
- 1:02:25Speaker 1: has entered judicial decisions in many cases on local cases
- 1:02:30Speaker 1: when it comes to many of these things that are
- 1:02:34Speaker 1: going on in our country. So I'm losing faith in
- 1:02:36Speaker 1: a judicial system. And I certainly have lost faith in
- 1:02:40Speaker 1: the voting system. Do I think the COVID vote? I mean,
- 1:02:44Speaker 1: during COVID, the whole thing stunk to high heaven as
- 1:02:46Speaker 1: far as I was concerned. And I'm losing faith in
- 1:02:50Speaker 1: it daily by these states mailing out ballots to everybody.
- 1:02:54Speaker 1: In Ohio, we do it the right way. in Ohio.
- 1:02:57Speaker 1: And in Florida, they do it the right way. But unfortunately,
- 1:03:01Speaker 1: there are many states that do not. I believe you
- 1:03:02Speaker 1: should show an ID when you go and vote. You
- 1:03:05Speaker 1: should have to show an ID. You should have to
- 1:03:07Speaker 1: be a U.S. citizen to vote. Period.
- 1:03:11Speaker 3: Yes, that's what Carolyn Leavitt was getting at. She brought
- 1:03:14Speaker 3: up the primary in California that joked that they kept
- 1:03:19Speaker 3: extending and extending and extending until the Republican was off
- 1:03:23Speaker 3: the ballot. And And then she chastised the press. She said,
- 1:03:29Speaker 3: after Trump speaks tonight, I want you guys to report
- 1:03:33Speaker 3: accurately what he said. And, you know, let's get this
- 1:03:36Speaker 3: out in the open that we're having problems with our elections.
- 1:03:40Speaker 3: And so we'll see. I have high hopes. And the
- 1:03:44Speaker 3: other thing that... Alex Jones was bringing up that he
- 1:03:49Speaker 3: might bring up the Iran war about... You can't do
- 1:03:54Speaker 3: it with an air campaign. I mean, you can't... We're
- 1:03:58Speaker 3: not going to win the war through the air. You're
- 1:03:59Speaker 3: going to have to have boots on the ground. So
- 1:04:02Speaker 3: he implied that we might have a coalition of troops,
- 1:04:07Speaker 3: or maybe the Israelis would come in and be our
- 1:04:11Speaker 3: partners on the ground, which I would... I don't want
- 1:04:14Speaker 3: American boots on the ground. If the Israelis want to
- 1:04:16Speaker 3: do that, we'll back them up, let them go in.
- 1:04:20Speaker 3: But I hope he addresses that point.
- 1:04:22Speaker 1: Would you agree with me? He created a mess. He
- 1:04:26Speaker 1: being President Trump in this situation in Iran. Listen, I
- 1:04:29Speaker 1: voted for Trump. I'm a Trumpster and all that kind
- 1:04:31Speaker 1: of stuff. But I can certainly criticize him. And this
- 1:04:36Speaker 1: mission that he got us involved in is a mess
- 1:04:39Speaker 1: and was a mistake from day one. I don't know
- 1:04:42Speaker 1: that you can unring the bell low. So where do
- 1:04:45Speaker 1: you go from here? I don't know that.
- 1:04:49Speaker 3: Trump hates to admit that he ever made a mistake.
- 1:04:52Speaker 1: That's correct.
- 1:04:52Speaker 3: That's one of his flaws.
- 1:04:54Speaker 1: Yep.
- 1:04:54Speaker 3: And he's done that with COVID, where Operation Warp Speed
- 1:04:59Speaker 3: was his baby, and it was the best thing that
- 1:05:03Speaker 3: ever happened. And he won't admit that it was a
- 1:05:05Speaker 3: mistake and it hurt a lot of people. I don't
- 1:05:08Speaker 3: know if you follow Senator Johnson's Senate hearings on COVID
- 1:05:13Speaker 3: and the VAERS reporting that was covered up.
- 1:05:16Speaker 2: Yes.
- 1:05:16Speaker 3: It's coming out. It's fascinating. And, of course, the mainstream media,
- 1:05:22Speaker 3: no one knows about it because no one's going to
- 1:05:24Speaker 3: report it.
- 1:05:24Speaker 1: Correct.
- 1:05:25Speaker 3: The number of side effects, sudden deaths, turbo cancers among
- 1:05:29Speaker 3: the young, health issues, it's mind-blowing. But because Trump, that
- 1:05:37Speaker 3: was his baby, I think he's sort of not letting
- 1:05:40Speaker 3: it come out. And that's what I'd knock him on, that.
- 1:05:43Speaker 1: Right.
- 1:05:45Speaker 2: Right.
- 1:05:45Speaker 1: I mean, the problem is I don't think that he's
- 1:05:48Speaker 1: holding anybody accountable for a lot of stuff. I mean,
- 1:05:52Speaker 1: I mean, I can't see I can talk about Epstein.
- 1:05:56Speaker 1: I can talk about the situation in Iran. I can
- 1:05:59Speaker 1: talk about the we don't want to get involved in
- 1:06:04Speaker 1: bogged down regime change wars in the Middle East. I mean,
- 1:06:09Speaker 1: there's a lot that he's disappointed me in. I mean,
- 1:06:12Speaker 1: make no mistake, I would never vote for Harris or
- 1:06:15Speaker 1: Biden or I wouldn't vote for any of these crazy Democrats.
- 1:06:19Speaker 1: But the reality is that this mess that he created
- 1:06:24Speaker 1: is a giant mess and trying to figure out how
- 1:06:27Speaker 1: it's just escalating. It's not getting better. It's getting worse.
- 1:06:31Speaker 3: Well, he's got a chance to get his poll numbers
- 1:06:34Speaker 3: up tonight and to give us some clarity on the
- 1:06:36Speaker 3: war situation. Give us some clarity on the elections and accountability.
- 1:06:40Speaker 3: And if he does that, I mean, he's going to
- 1:06:42Speaker 3: win me back.
- 1:06:43Speaker 1: Well, I'd be curious what your interpretation of it is tomorrow.
- 1:06:47Speaker 1: So make sure you call me and let me know.
- 1:06:48Speaker 3: Yeah, I can't wait to hear him tonight. Let me
- 1:06:50Speaker 3: get back real quick to the forest fires. You know,
- 1:06:53Speaker 3: I'm getting sick of this every year, the fires coming
- 1:06:56Speaker 3: down from Canada. When did this start? About five, six
- 1:07:00Speaker 3: years ago? It's the same policies in Canada that they
- 1:07:03Speaker 3: have in California. The liberals will not manage their forests.
- 1:07:08Speaker 3: They have dry vegetation. And then when you have a drought,
- 1:07:12Speaker 3: you get... I don't think they're saying it's lightning strikes.
- 1:07:16Speaker 3: I think it's arson myself. But if you have good
- 1:07:20Speaker 3: management policies and common sense on how to, you know,
- 1:07:26Speaker 3: take care of a forest, you won't have these problems.
- 1:07:29Speaker 3: It was really bad today. I went down to coffee.
- 1:07:31Speaker 3: We have a guy that rides a bike down there
- 1:07:33Speaker 3: every day. four miles or three miles, and he wrote
- 1:07:38Speaker 3: it down today, and I said, you've got to be crazy.
- 1:07:42Speaker 3: And I drove by Stambaugh Municipal Golf Course. You should
- 1:07:46Speaker 3: have seen the guys out golfing. I mean, the air
- 1:07:48Speaker 3: was really bad, and I'm looking out now. You could
- 1:07:51Speaker 3: actually cut that smoke with a knife.
- 1:07:53Speaker 1: Yeah, it's very visible, and you can smell it. I mean,
- 1:07:58Speaker 1: it's got an odor to it, in addition to being
- 1:08:00Speaker 1: able to see how thick the smoke is. But let's
- 1:08:04Speaker 1: be realistic. People have got to go to work. You've
- 1:08:06Speaker 1: still got guys out pouring concrete driveways. You've still got
- 1:08:09Speaker 1: the landscapers out. You've still got the guys from Ohio
- 1:08:12Speaker 1: Edison out. There's plenty of people that don't have the
- 1:08:14Speaker 1: option not to be outside and working.
- 1:08:16Speaker 3: I feel sorry for those poor guys. And real quick,
- 1:08:19Speaker 3: talking about guys working outside, did you see the three
- 1:08:22Speaker 3: Trumbull County commissioners put an end to the fiber optic
- 1:08:27Speaker 3: laying in Trumbull County because of all the accidents?
- 1:08:30Speaker 1: Well, what's the alternative? I mean, okay, so what.
- 1:08:36Speaker 3: Here's the alternative. Hire a competent company to put your
- 1:08:39Speaker 3: fiber optics in. That's T-Mobile hired this, I think it's
- 1:08:43Speaker 3: called Lumina. And I made a joke to a couple
- 1:08:47Speaker 3: of people. I should call ICE because all of the
- 1:08:50Speaker 3: guys that work, they don't speak English. They're all Mexicans.
- 1:08:53Speaker 1: Yeah, but I mean, what does that got to do
- 1:08:55Speaker 1: with putting a cable in?
- 1:08:58Speaker 3: Well, they're hitting water mains.
- 1:09:01Speaker 1: Right, but I mean, they're going underground. They mark the utilities.
- 1:09:06Speaker 1: What's the answer to this? I mean, what they're doing
- 1:09:10Speaker 1: is they're in the easement. They have a right to
- 1:09:13Speaker 1: be there because that's where the easement is, obviously, because
- 1:09:16Speaker 1: they're hitting stuff. How do you put the fiber in
- 1:09:19Speaker 1: underground competently?
- 1:09:23Speaker 3: They laid it in our township last year within my—
- 1:09:29Speaker 3: five-block area of my home, they hit a couple of
- 1:09:31Speaker 3: water mains in the Youngstown Water Department. I mean, these
- 1:09:35Speaker 3: were big, big water breaks. And these guys, I don't
- 1:09:38Speaker 3: know if they don't know what they're doing.
- 1:09:41Speaker 1: Well, remember, you mark the utilities and you're going underground.
- 1:09:46Speaker 1: You can't visually see. You're slinging this thing. I don't
- 1:09:50Speaker 1: know what the answer to this is. I mean, I
- 1:09:56Speaker 1: don't know where you go.
- 1:09:58Speaker 3: My hat's off to the Trumbull County commissioners that are
- 1:10:01Speaker 3: putting a stop to it until they find out why
- 1:10:04Speaker 3: this particular company is having so many problems. And they've
- 1:10:08Speaker 3: had problems in Youngstown and in Liberty Township. Now they're
- 1:10:14Speaker 3: further up north.
- 1:10:15Speaker 1: But.
- 1:10:16Speaker 3: I was glad to see that. I said, finally, someone's
- 1:10:18Speaker 3: going to, you know.
- 1:10:20Speaker 8: I don't want.
- 1:10:21Speaker 1: Okay, but with all due respect, now what do you do?
- 1:10:23Speaker 1: How do you put the fiber... In my neighborhood, we
- 1:10:27Speaker 1: have underground utilities. We don't have phone poles. So how
- 1:10:30Speaker 1: do you put it in the ground?
- 1:10:32Speaker 3: Well, you have to do it in a safe manner.
- 1:10:35Speaker 1: How do you do that?
- 1:10:36Speaker 3: Well, that's what the commissioners want to find out. They
- 1:10:39Speaker 3: want to find out what the problems are with this
- 1:10:42Speaker 3: particular company, why they've had... so many more problems than
- 1:10:46Speaker 3: other companies. And it's all T-Mobile cable that they're putting in.
- 1:10:54Speaker 3: And their company is called Lumina. And they hire a
- 1:10:58Speaker 3: lot of guys that You.
- 1:11:01Speaker 1: Know, I have nothing. I have no prejudice against, you know,
- 1:11:05Speaker 1: if you're saying, well, they can't speak English or they're Mexican. Well,
- 1:11:08Speaker 1: they're at least out there doing the work. That doesn't
- 1:11:09Speaker 1: mean they're lousy at their job or lousy workers. I
- 1:11:12Speaker 1: don't go for that one bit. It means they show
- 1:11:15Speaker 1: up and they're willing to do the work and move
- 1:11:17Speaker 1: from town to town to do this kind of work
- 1:11:19Speaker 1: where we got a lot of Americans, obviously, that don't
- 1:11:22Speaker 1: want to do it. Right.
- 1:11:23Speaker 3: Not only that, these guys work like– sometimes they'll be
- 1:11:26Speaker 3: out there 12– when they did my neighborhood, they were
- 1:11:29Speaker 3: out there 12, 14 hours a day.
- 1:11:31Speaker 2: Right.
- 1:11:31Speaker 1: I mean, I applaud any hardworking person, any hardworking person.
- 1:11:36Speaker 1: But I would say to any of these commissioners, okay,
- 1:11:38Speaker 1: so what's the answer here? They are running this system underground.
- 1:11:42Speaker 1: They get the utilities marked. They think that they're missing it,
- 1:11:46Speaker 1: and maybe the utility is not marked properly or it's missed.
- 1:11:51Speaker 2: Right.
- 1:11:52Speaker 1: And we've had gas explosions. We've had water mains hit.
- 1:11:55Speaker 1: We've had other lines that have been injured as a
- 1:11:58Speaker 1: result of it. Well, how do you– I don't know
- 1:12:01Speaker 1: what the answer is. How do you put it under–
- 1:12:04Speaker 1: in the ground?
- 1:12:06Speaker 3: Well, they're going to– my hat's off to them again.
- 1:12:08Speaker 3: They're going to investigate and find out. At least they–
- 1:12:12Speaker 3: those politicians did something that the Youngstown officials wouldn't do
- 1:12:17Speaker 3: and my township officials wouldn't do. They said, whoa, what's
- 1:12:21Speaker 3: going on? We've got to find out. We don't want
- 1:12:24Speaker 3: these incidents happening.
- 1:12:25Speaker 1: But I would hear people bitching, oh, look at what
- 1:12:27Speaker 1: they're doing in the yard. Well, that's really not your yard.
- 1:12:29Speaker 1: There's an easement there. I mean, when people get this way,
- 1:12:32Speaker 1: I'm thinking, you know what? Would you prefer them not
- 1:12:36Speaker 1: to fix your electric line or your water line or
- 1:12:38Speaker 1: whatever else is there? This is how– if you're in
- 1:12:41Speaker 1: a neighborhood like mine and a lot of people's neighborhoods,
- 1:12:43Speaker 1: you have underground utilities. Well, everything is buried. Well, if
- 1:12:48Speaker 1: you've got to change something out or– upgrade something, how
- 1:12:52Speaker 1: do you do that?
- 1:12:54Speaker 3: You're in the high-rent district. God bless you.
- 1:12:57Speaker 1: You're the last one to say that with your wealth,
- 1:13:00Speaker 1: believe me.
- 1:13:01Speaker 3: Yeah. A lot of people don't realize they don't own
- 1:13:04Speaker 3: out to the street.
- 1:13:05Speaker 1: Right.
- 1:13:05Speaker 3: I mean, your grass goes out to the street, but
- 1:13:08Speaker 3: that's not your property.
- 1:13:10Speaker 8: Right.
- 1:13:10Speaker 1: So there's an easement there for utilities. And they're operating
- 1:13:13Speaker 1: within that easement trying to– what are they trying? They're
- 1:13:16Speaker 1: not doing some sinister thing. They're trying to run a
- 1:13:18Speaker 1: fiber optic cable so that it's there for people, and
- 1:13:22Speaker 1: all these people will tie into it and will use it.
- 1:13:26Speaker 1: That's all they're trying to do. I mean, I don't
- 1:13:27Speaker 1: know what the other option is. All right.
- 1:13:31Speaker 3: There's only one way to get it in, so I'll
- 1:13:33Speaker 3: let other callers get on the line, and I'll– We'll
- 1:13:36Speaker 3: see what Trump says, and I hope it's a positive speech.
- 1:13:40Speaker 1: Well, give me some analysis tomorrow. I appreciate it. You're
- 1:13:43Speaker 1: on the air.
- 1:13:45Speaker 8: Hey, Ron, it's David Thomas.
- 1:13:47Speaker 1: I'm sorry, Dave. I was looking for you. All right,
- 1:13:49Speaker 1: Dave Thomas is out at the Trumbull County Fair.
- 1:13:52Speaker 8: I was going to say, you may want to check
- 1:13:56Speaker 8: your cough, because there are people coughing here, too.
- 1:13:58Speaker 1: That was a little theater of the mind here, David,
- 1:14:01Speaker 1: a little show business. But you're out at the Trumbull
- 1:14:04Speaker 1: County Fair?
- 1:14:05Speaker 8: Yeah, I actually have a hard time even seeing the
- 1:14:08Speaker 8: Ferris wheel.
- 1:14:09Speaker 1: I got to tell you something, though, folks, and listen
- 1:14:11Speaker 1: to me. If you run into Dave Thomas at the
- 1:14:14Speaker 1: Trumbull County Fair or wherever, you go up and shake
- 1:14:16Speaker 1: his hand and thank him for all that he's done
- 1:14:18Speaker 1: for all of us. I mean, you know, the guff
- 1:14:20Speaker 1: that this guy has taken and the criticism he's taken
- 1:14:24Speaker 1: from making things better for all of us is just terrific.
- 1:14:30Speaker 1: I want to talk to you about that. So we
- 1:14:31Speaker 1: got the re-evaluations here in Mahoning County. that Meacham said, oh,
- 1:14:37Speaker 1: that's went up 25% or whatever. Talk to people about
- 1:14:41Speaker 1: the legislation that you got approved, which will at least.
- 1:14:46Speaker 1: Hold back as big an increase as you would get
- 1:14:49Speaker 1: without this legislation. Explain that so our listeners understand. This
- 1:14:53Speaker 1: is what Dave Thomas did for all of us on
- 1:14:56Speaker 1: these new re-evaluations that said, oh, your properties were 25% more.
- 1:15:03Speaker 1: Explain how it would work the old way and what
- 1:15:05Speaker 1: you changed for everybody.
- 1:15:07Speaker 3: Yes.
- 1:15:07Speaker 8: So first, big kudos to the Mahoning County Commissioners, and
- 1:15:11Speaker 8: the columbiana and the trumbull county commissioners for doubling the
- 1:15:14Speaker 8: home for the owner occupancy credit so that is one
- 1:15:18Speaker 8: way folks will already see a difference in their tax
- 1:15:21Speaker 8: bill in january regardless of what happens with values that
- 1:15:25Speaker 8: credit will double average of about extra hundred dollars or
- 1:15:28Speaker 8: so in savings what is changing with the bills that
- 1:15:32Speaker 8: we passed last year your property values will keep changing
- 1:15:36Speaker 8: they'll go up they'll go down like ralph said Mahoney
- 1:15:40Speaker 8: County increasing by 25%. Under the previous law, what had
- 1:15:45Speaker 8: essentially broken with the property tax system in the last
- 1:15:48Speaker 8: six years, that 25% meant a huge unvoted spike in
- 1:15:53Speaker 8: your tax bill. It meant essentially that your property value
- 1:15:56Speaker 8: was tied directly to your tax amount, and as your
- 1:15:59Speaker 8: property value went up, your tax bill went up right
- 1:16:02Speaker 8: along with it. And that's why we've seen all the spikes.
- 1:16:06Speaker 1: It would go up 25%, correct? Correct.
- 1:16:10Speaker 8: Maybe not quite 25%, but maybe 17%, 20%. There were portions,
- 1:16:15Speaker 8: you know, when you vote for a levy, regardless of
- 1:16:17Speaker 8: however those values move, that levy brings in the same
- 1:16:20Speaker 8: amount of money, but there are portions of your tax
- 1:16:23Speaker 8: bill that are tied directly to your value, and those
- 1:16:25Speaker 8: are what really spiked up to your school, to township, village, city, county,
- 1:16:31Speaker 8: but those really kind of just skyrocketed with the higher values.
- 1:16:35Speaker 1: Right.
- 1:16:36Speaker 8: So 25% increase in your value, probably, yeah, like a 17, 18, 20%
- 1:16:41Speaker 8: increase in your tax bill.
- 1:16:42Speaker 1: So what, and now listen to this. Everybody listen to this.
- 1:16:44Speaker 1: This is what Dave Thomas did for you. Explain.
- 1:16:48Speaker 8: So now with our bills we passed last year, your
- 1:16:51Speaker 8: value can increase by 25%, but that is now capped
- 1:16:55Speaker 8: in terms of the tax amount. The revenue coming into
- 1:16:58Speaker 8: all those local governments is now capped to inflation. Whatever
- 1:17:02Speaker 8: inflation has been, It's now capped for them so that
- 1:17:06Speaker 8: your tax bill will not see that spike, won't go
- 1:17:09Speaker 8: up nearly as much. It still will increase, but by
- 1:17:12Speaker 8: an inflationary amount versus what you have been seeing over
- 1:17:15Speaker 8: the last six years, which are those huge unvoted spikes.
- 1:17:18Speaker 1: Right. Instead of getting a 17% increase, let's say you
- 1:17:22Speaker 1: would get a, what, a 4% or 5% increase?
- 1:17:25Speaker 2: Yep.
- 1:17:25Speaker 8: I don't know the exact numbers for this year. I
- 1:17:27Speaker 8: think those will be calculated here pretty soon, but there'll
- 1:17:30Speaker 8: be some much smaller amount of increase.
- 1:17:33Speaker 1: Stand by, Dave Thomas. Dave Thomas, talking to us live
- 1:17:37Speaker 1: from the Trumbull County Fair. Back with Dave after this
- 1:17:39Speaker 1: and more of your calls. I heart radio.
- 1:17:43Speaker 4: Youngstown's News, Weather, and Talk Station, 570 WKBN. All right, 355.
- 1:17:49Speaker 4: All right, Dave Thomas. So, basically, because of the legislation
- 1:17:54Speaker 4: that you got approved, the increase from the re-evaluations will be,
- 1:18:00Speaker 4: let's say, 15%. Oh, maybe 4%, 5%, 6% in that ballpark?
- 1:18:07Speaker 8: Yes, yeah, that inflation amount. And then that's just purely
- 1:18:10Speaker 8: from value. So like I said, your value can go
- 1:18:13Speaker 8: up by 25%. That revenue will only increase by inflation.
- 1:18:16Speaker 8: And what we've also done is we've now required the
- 1:18:19Speaker 8: local governments to say formally that they're accepting those increases,
- 1:18:24Speaker 8: that they're the ones actually raising property taxes with those
- 1:18:28Speaker 8: higher values, and reminding them that they can actually say no.
- 1:18:32Speaker 8: And they can forego those increases as well. So it's
- 1:18:35Speaker 8: just putting that in the front of mind for folks.
- 1:18:38Speaker 1: Now, this is very important for all of us to understand.
- 1:18:41Speaker 1: So instead of saying, okay, the former way that these
- 1:18:46Speaker 1: would be done, like when they were done last time,
- 1:18:49Speaker 1: and you get this, big 17%, 18% increase in your
- 1:18:52Speaker 1: property taxes based on the re-evaluations, you pass legislation that
- 1:18:57Speaker 1: says it will be tied to the rate of inflation.
- 1:19:00Speaker 1: So the rate of inflation is maybe 4% or 5%.
- 1:19:05Speaker 1: So it'll still be an increase, but it'd be a
- 1:19:06Speaker 1: much smaller one than it would have been if you
- 1:19:09Speaker 1: did nothing. That's number one. And number two is, who
- 1:19:13Speaker 1: can determine whether or not they want to accept this?
- 1:19:16Speaker 1: Who makes that decision?
- 1:19:18Speaker 8: Each one of the boards. So going straight down, the
- 1:19:22Speaker 8: county commissioners, they can accept for their portion of the
- 1:19:25Speaker 8: tax bill. Your school board, they can accept for their portion.
- 1:19:28Speaker 8: Your city, they can accept for their portion. And the township,
- 1:19:32Speaker 8: they accept for theirs, whether they're going to bring in
- 1:19:35Speaker 8: that increase in unvoted taxation, or if they're going to
- 1:19:39Speaker 8: decrease their tax rates and bring in the same amount
- 1:19:41Speaker 8: of money.
- 1:19:43Speaker 1: So this is important to understand. So everybody knows, all
- 1:19:47Speaker 1: of the local politicians that say the following, boy, we
- 1:19:51Speaker 1: understand the difficulties of our young people buying a home,
- 1:19:53Speaker 1: our older citizens staying in their property. We get it.
- 1:19:57Speaker 1: We're going to find out now if that's just lip
- 1:19:59Speaker 1: service or if it's reality. if it's lip service or reality,
- 1:20:03Speaker 1: because you're saying your local politicians have the ability to
- 1:20:07Speaker 1: say no to these increases, which means that the property
- 1:20:11Speaker 1: tax payer would not have to pay additional money. Correct.
- 1:20:17Speaker 8: And the great thing about what the commissioners of Trumbull, Mahoning,
- 1:20:20Speaker 8: and Columbiana did with doubling the owner occupancy credit, it
- 1:20:24Speaker 8: was making a decision for everyone, essentially, so that anyone
- 1:20:28Speaker 8: that lives in those counties... they know they're going to
- 1:20:30Speaker 8: have that doubling, and that's being done. But these increases
- 1:20:34Speaker 8: that come from higher valuations, that essentially is up to
- 1:20:37Speaker 8: each local government, and that's up to the boards of
- 1:20:40Speaker 8: those local governments. Do they accept them? Do they not?
- 1:20:43Speaker 8: What does it actually look like? And we're seeing entities
- 1:20:46Speaker 8: across Ohio actually saying, no, we're going to decrease our
- 1:20:48Speaker 8: tax rates. We're not going to take in these increases.
- 1:20:52Speaker 8: And we'll keep things the same. We'll keep things flat.
- 1:20:54Speaker 1: Well, we shall see what happens here. And incidentally, that
- 1:20:57Speaker 1: doubling of the owner-occupancy in Mone and County is only
- 1:21:00Speaker 1: for a year. I mean, they've just agreed for a year.
- 1:21:03Speaker 1: Why only a year? Why not just say... Why put
- 1:21:06Speaker 1: a time frame on it? Stand by, Dave Thomas. Hang
- 1:21:09Speaker 1: in there. He's going to talk about fiber, too, but
- 1:21:11Speaker 1: I want to finish a discussion on this. Then I
- 1:21:13Speaker 1: get to more of your calls. Hang on. And talk
- 1:21:15Speaker 1: station 570 WKBN. All right, 355. All right, Dave Thomas. So, basically,
- 1:21:22Speaker 1: because of the legislation that you got approved, the increase
- 1:21:26Speaker 1: from the re-evaluations will be, let's say... Oh, maybe 4, 5, 6%
- 1:21:34Speaker 1: in that ballpark?
- 1:21:37Speaker 8: Yes, yeah, that inflation amount. And then that's just purely
- 1:21:40Speaker 8: from value. So like I said, your value can go
- 1:21:43Speaker 8: up by 25%. That revenue will only increase by inflation.
- 1:21:46Speaker 8: And what we've also done is we've now required the
- 1:21:49Speaker 8: local governments to say formally that they're accepting those increases,
- 1:21:54Speaker 8: that they're the ones actually raising property taxes with those
- 1:21:58Speaker 8: higher values. and reminding them that they can actually say no,
- 1:22:02Speaker 8: and they can forego those increases as well. So it's
- 1:22:05Speaker 8: just putting that in the front of mind for folks.
- 1:22:08Speaker 1: Now, this is very important for all of us to understand.
- 1:22:11Speaker 1: So instead of saying, okay, the former way that these
- 1:22:16Speaker 1: would be done, like when they were done last time,
- 1:22:19Speaker 1: and you get this big 17%, 18% increase in your
- 1:22:22Speaker 1: property taxes based on the re-evaluations, you pass legislation that
- 1:22:27Speaker 1: says it will be tied to the rate of inflation.
- 1:22:30Speaker 1: So the rate of inflation is maybe 4% or 5%.
- 1:22:35Speaker 1: So it'll still be an increase, but it'd be a
- 1:22:36Speaker 1: much smaller one than it would have been if you
- 1:22:39Speaker 1: did nothing. That's number one. And number two is who
- 1:22:43Speaker 1: can determine whether or not they want to accept this?
- 1:22:46Speaker 1: Who makes that decision?
- 1:22:48Speaker 8: Each one of the boards. So going straight down, you know,
- 1:22:52Speaker 8: the county commissioners, they can accept for their portion of
- 1:22:54Speaker 8: the tax bill. Your school board, they can accept for
- 1:22:57Speaker 8: their portion. Your city, they can accept for their portion.
- 1:23:01Speaker 8: And the township, they accept for theirs, whether they're going
- 1:23:04Speaker 8: to bring in that increase in unvoted taxation or if
- 1:23:09Speaker 8: they're going to decrease their tax rates and bring in
- 1:23:10Speaker 8: the same amount of money.
- 1:23:13Speaker 1: This is important to understand. So everybody knows all of
- 1:23:17Speaker 1: the local politicians that say the following. Boy, we understand
- 1:23:21Speaker 1: the difficulties of our young people buying a home or
- 1:23:24Speaker 1: older citizens staying in their property. We get it. We're
- 1:23:27Speaker 1: going to find out now if that's just lip service
- 1:23:30Speaker 1: or if it's reality. if it's lip service or reality,
- 1:23:33Speaker 1: because you're saying your local politicians have the ability to
- 1:23:37Speaker 1: say no to these increases, which means that the property
- 1:23:41Speaker 1: tax payer would not have to pay additional money.
- 1:23:46Speaker 8: Correct. And the great thing about what the commissioners of Trumbull, Mahoning,
- 1:23:50Speaker 8: and Columbiana did with doubling the owner occupancy credit, it
- 1:23:54Speaker 8: was making a decision for everyone, essentially, so that anyone
- 1:23:58Speaker 8: that lives in those counties they know they're gonna have
- 1:24:00Speaker 8: that doubling and that's that's being done but these increases
- 1:24:04Speaker 8: that come from higher valuations that essentially is up to
- 1:24:07Speaker 8: each local government and that's up to the boards of
- 1:24:10Speaker 8: those local governments you know do they accept them do
- 1:24:12Speaker 8: they not what does it actually look like and we're

- 1:24:18Speaker 8: decrease our tax rates we're not going to take in
- 1:24:20Speaker 8: these increases and we'll keep things the same. We'll keep
- 1:24:23Speaker 8: things flat.
- 1:24:24Speaker 1: Well, we shall see what happens here. And incidentally, that

- 1:24:43Speaker 1: more of your calls. Hang in there. Hey, Ron, I'm
- 1:24:45Speaker 1: going to go check in with Mike Leonard. He's out
