[upbeat music] Weekly Dose of Fat, show number 49 for Friday, March 27th, 2014.
• 0:06
[upbeat music] Ladies and gentlemen, it's the Weekly Dose of Fat.
• 0:24
Yay. [singing] It's time to play the music. It's time to light the lights. It's time to meet the Sven and Gomez on the Weekly Dose of Fat. Tonight. Bum, bum, bum, bum. [laughs] Wasn't in the rhythm scheme.
• 0:41
[laughs] This is Caminos Amigos. And we're joined by JK Livin' in the studio for today's radio repartee.
• 0:52
It's time to get things started on the most sensational, inspirational, celebrational, fatbikational, this is the Weekly Dose of Fat. [growling] You ever heard of 26 Plus?
• 1:09
Well, go and find yourself an Instigator and go huck it off a big old chunk of asphalt or maybe monster truck your local twisties. Visit surlybikes.com and tell them Uncle Gomez sent you.
• 1:23
There's a link to surlybikes.com in the show notes. [coughs] Cough, buddy. [laughs] Told you that makes me cough. [laughs] So what's happening on the show this week, JK?
• 1:34
This week, our special guest is world champion of the universe and beyond, Tim Berntson. Never fear, we still have beards and we still drink beer. Weekly Dose of Fat involves the beach ride.
• 1:49
We have links from every corner of the globe, and we take calls from the front lines of fat bike fun right here in the studio on the switchboard, that number 818-918-2453. That number again, 818-918-2453.
• 2:07
That spells bike, you know? Bike. 2453. My name's Mike. So any bike shop that ever has 9-whatever, 906 bike, it's always 2453. 2453. So you don't have to remember that. While we were talking numbers and letters,
• 2:25
we have slipped into the beer and beard segment. S- Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. What is this week's- [coughs]... fatbike.com throat? [laughs] Throat. Throat, cough, and cough cure and beer.
• 2:42
[laughs] Uh, this is a Resignation Brewery and Redhook Brewery, uh, co- co-mingling- Co-laboration... collaboration. Co-habitation... that's the word I was looking for. [laughs] It's a KCCO Black Lager.
• 2:56
It's got an ostrich on there. First I thought that was a radio station till I looked it up and found out what KCCO is. I'm like totally out of the, uh, pop culture bit, huh? I was, totally. No, it's a cool site.
• 3:11
It was... They pop up different, uh, stories. It's very picture-driven. Little captions. Little play on the old Onion idea? Yeah, yeah, along those lines, but yeah, kind of a- So KCCO is-...
• 3:26
amalgam- amalgamator of- Keep calm and-... stuff... jive on. Yeah, just something to waste time [bottle pops] doing it. Oh, that one, that one had some velocity. [laughs] Yeah.
• 3:39
So it gets a Beer Advocate score of 77, which is okay. All right. Has 5.1, uh, Okie-hosi, 5.1%, and it has, uh, 22 international bitter, uh, girlfriends. Bitter girlfriends.
• 3:55
[laughs] Well, yeah, it's definitely not got that- that tongue-tarty hoppiness to it. It's very smooth. Mm-hmm. But what it does have is a real toasty flavor. Mm-hmm. Yep, yep. It's- And I'm almost gonna say peaty.
• 4:09
Peaty? It almost has that apricot mouth feel. [laughs] Oh, we haven't had apricots for weeks. [laughs] Yeah, the shoes. It's got little overtones of chocolate- Mm...
• 4:19
and, uh, you know, caramel, those kind of flavors in there. Yeah. It's good. I- I give it a good s- it's a suckability rating of 92. [laughs] I could suck these down. I would say it's better than just okay for me.
• 4:35
Oh, yeah. But I'm a black lager fan. Me too. Yeah, porters, stouts, black lagers. I like beer though in general. So, uh, on the beard front, I got sheared. Yeah? What'd- did you run into an errant sheep farmer?
• 4:49
I, I just finally, I, I rode on, it snowed on Monday and I had a snow ride, and it was, but it was warm. And it was just like wet mop on my face after the ride. I was just like, "I gotta cut this off."
• 5:01
[laughs] I've been, uh, shearing the sides of the old, uh, the face getting ready. Just can't part with this, uh, this guy yet. You know, this thing. [laughs] I don't know. I've been just thinking about shearing.
• 5:14
[laughs] Holding, thinking it all out. I've been formulating my plan going, "Okay, if I go from this side and this side and then leave..." I don't know what I'm doing.
• 5:22
I'll end up just like shaving myself and look like a beluga whale. [laughs] Creepy. [laughs] But I still put beard oil on my, on my short shorn beard. Yeah, that's why you smell so good.
• 5:35
And that's, uh, yeah, there you go. All right. Well, this week's Beards and Beers segment is sponsored by Uncle Dick's Bead Slip. We'll be giving tins of Uncle Dick's to callers later in the show.
• 5:46
Check them out at uncledicksbikeshop.com. Uncle Dick. You're tuned to Fat Bike Radio.

• 6:24
[upbeat music] Hey, this is Travis Brown. Do you hear that? That's your bike calling you, so turn off these chodos and go ride your bike. Please welcome the Talkeetna Trio World Champion, our friend, Mr.
• 6:42
Tim Berendsohn. Hey, Tim. Hey, Ben and Gomez. Welcome to the show. Well, glad to be here. You're actually the world champion of the entire universe if I'm reading my teleprompter collect, correctly.
• 6:58
[laughs] And I'm sure it's not wrong either, so. Yeah, no, apparently I am the world champion of the, uh, universe.
• 7:07
I did the Talkeetna Trio last weekend and, uh, apparently what I win for being the world champion is a cowbell and the opportunity [bell rings] to work at the halfway aid station next year. Right on. Yeah. Very good.
• 7:24
So Tim, now that the snow race season is behind us, tell us how you think the season went for you and the Fatback team in 2015.
• 7:31
Well, I will have to say there is still one more race left, the White Mountains up in, uh- Oh, that's right... Fairbanks. Oh, right on.
• 7:36
Uh, actually it's this Sunday, so, uh, myself and, oh, there's a couple of the Fatback guys I don't think are doing it this year, but there is one more race.
• 7:46
The, as far as how the season went, uh, it went pretty awesome. Um, you know, Jeff obviously just finished up his, uh, race to Nome, again, an amazing time under some pretty crazy weather conditions. Yeah.
• 8:02
Uh, Heather again set another record in the ITI and continued kind of her dominance. Um, you know, Kevin second in the ITI this year and had a really strong showing down at the Arrowhead.
• 8:17
And then obviously John, uh, setting a record in the ITI this year, uh, pretty amazing as well. I had a good time.
• 8:24
I felt like I had a couple pretty good races at the Arrowhead and, uh, Susitna and Talkeetna and then hopefully I'll have another one in, uh, the White Mountains up in Fairbanks this weekend. Well, right on.
• 8:36
Yeah, that White Mountains race, that, I forgot about that, that, that you're, uh, some of your best conditions take place in, in March, right? Yeah, no, it can be pretty awe- pretty amazing.
• 8:47
We get, uh, some warmer temperatures, more sunlight, so you get the warmer days and then it cools off at night and sets up the, the trails pretty nice. Yeah, you finally do have some snow up that way it looks like.
• 9:01
Yeah, [laughs] there's, there's kinda, there's nothing in Anchorage here right now pretty much.
• 9:05
Uh, all the, the winter riding is, is, is, uh, long gone, but, uh, further north you definitely can find some and Fairbanks should be a lot of fun and the trails should be great.
• 9:15
So Tim, what's your favorite all-time fat bike race and what makes the, what makes that race make the top of your list? I would have to, I mean, I'd have to go with, uh, the Iditarod Trail Invitational.
• 9:28
It's probably not everybody's fat bike type of race, uh, just because it's so unique. Uh, and you know, there's only so many people that are actually in it every year.
• 9:39
Um, but as far as terrain, you just have so many different things to train for, weather, snow conditions, uh, and there's more to it than I guess just jumping on your bike and, and being physically ready to do it.
• 9:54
That- That being said, the White Mountains this weekend's pretty awesome too, so. And that one's a 100-miler, right? The White Mountains is a 100-miler, yeah.
• 10:02
Yeah, okay, so prep is still important, but not, uh, not the killer that some of the longer races are. The White's, you know, is 100 miles.
• 10:10
It's, it's probably close to 7,000 feet of climbing, so it's, uh, it's a pretty good, it's a pretty good push.
• 10:16
But as you said, you generally tend to get a little bit better trail conditions, not all the time, and it's, it's a beautiful spot to actually ride.
• 10:25
[metal clangs] Here, obviously it's the White Mountains, so you're in the mountains a little bit and beautiful vistas. Uh, I highly recommend it to anybody that is looking for an ultra to do sometime. Very cool.
• 10:36
So outside of racing, do you have any bike trips planned for this summer? Um, no specific, uh, plans outside of, uh, Alaska, but I hope to do some rides.
• 10:47
If anybody's ever been up to the Denali Park, there's the park road and, uh, early season kind of before the tourists get here, so any time basically before Memorial Day, uh, is a good time to go up there and actually ride that road.
• 10:59
There's no real buses. There's a few buses on it probably the week or two before, uh, Memorial Day, but other than that it's pretty wide open.
• 11:07
And, you know, there's bears and moose and caribou and sheep and lynx and, you know, you name it, there's, there's a lot of wildlife up there and it's kinda nice to do that when there's not, uh, traffic on the road.
• 11:20
So I'll probably do that and then other than that it'll be mostly, you know, riding and racing around, uh, in and around Anchorage. Cool.
• 11:28
[bell rings] Well, that bell means that we've entered the lightning round of the interview. Are you ready, Tim? I am. Answer the following five questions in rapid succession, starting with beard or balaclava. Balaclava.
• 11:44
What's your best bike mechanic and the shop that they work out of? I have to name three of them. All right. Um, they don't all work there anymore. Speedway Cycles, Tim Reinbolt, who used to work there, was awesome.
• 11:56
Jason Hill, who just left, uh, probably within the last three weeks, was awesome. And then currently Ian Venable, who's, uh, uh, moved up I think it was last summer, and, uh, he's pretty awesome as well. Right on.
• 12:10
Favorite fat bike tire? Uh, four-inch Dillinger Tubes or tubeless? Tubeless And our last question of the lightning round, who wins a fight between Samsquanch and Paul Bunyan?
• 12:26
I grew up in Minnesota, and definitely Paul Bunyan would kick his ass. [laughs] Well, we really appreciate you being on the show, Tim. Yeah, thanks for being such a good guest, man. Thanks, I appreciate it.
• 12:39
It was, uh, picked a good time to get here. Fantastic. Don't let us... Hope to see you back up here next year. Yeah, man, I think we're coming up for ITI. Oh, are you? Cool. Checkpoint, Checkpoint Charlie.
• 12:52
That'll be a great time out. [laughs] Are you guys g- how long are you gonna be up for the week before or the week after? Uh, haven't made any kind of plans yet.
• 12:59
I'm working with, uh, Cathy Merchant to volunteer at, at one of the checkpoints. So you might actually- Oh, that'd be cool... you might actually- Do you have any idea which one? You might actually get... No, I don't.
• 13:10
I don't. But let's talk about, uh, which one you think we should go to. Yeah, what's, what's, where's the party at?
• 13:17
[laughs] [laughs] Well, any of the early ones you're gonna have everybody sh- show up quickly, so you, you, you know, they're gonna be in and out of there quick and then you can take off, if that's what you want.
• 13:27
I would go to Skwentna. Mm-hmm. I love Skwentna. Actually, they got good food and you can sit and watch TV and it's kind of weird, but it's fun.
• 13:36
As far as, like, being out there, I would probably pick, like, either Puntilla. Uh, it's a, again, it's a beautiful spot. Um, it's right at the start of the rainy pass.
• 13:47
You're gonna get people through there, you know, for a few days. Mm-hmm. So, um, between runners and, and bikers and whatnot. And otherwise, you know, Roan would be unique. Uh, Winter Lake Lodge would be good.
• 14:00
I probably wouldn't do Nikolai. I probably wouldn't do Yetna, but any of the other ones. I guess it depends on how much time you wanna spend, and do you wanna see...
• 14:10
Like, if you go to Skwentna, if you wanna see people come through in pretty rapid succession, then that would be the place to go.
• 14:16
If you wanna get out a little bit further off the beaten path and in maybe some prettier country, 'cause Skwentna you're still kind of on the, in the flatlands of the, the river and whatnot. Mm-hmm.
• 14:27
But Winter Lake Lodge or Puntilla are pretty cool, and Roan. Roan, the hard part would be is actually having a place to stay, just 'cause all there is is a wall tent and a, uh, a shel- there's a shelter cabin.
• 14:42
But the, I know that Iditarod sled dog race has kind of control of that, so whether or not we can actually use it is kind of a little bit dependent, I guess. Well, cool. Well, we'll figure it out and, uh- Yeah...
• 14:56
and we'll give you a foot rub or something- Yeah... when you're out there. [laughs] Super unique, super unique race. I'll be out there too next year, so my plan is to sign up here- Deal, man... in a couple weeks.
• 15:06
Very good. All right. Thanks again for being on the show. Thanks a lot, Tim. All right. Thank you guys. We'll see ya. Take care. All right, bye. You're tuned to Fat Bike Radio.

• 16:11
Before I turn it over to Sven, I just wanna send out some healing vibes to our amigo Dave Floyd over in the UK. Last Thursday, Dave had a heart attack while he was out riding his orange Genesis Caribou.
• 16:23
After a couple of jolts from the defibrillator and some time in the cath lab, Dave is on the road to recovery. We wanna send you out, uh, well wishes and get well soon, Dave. Well wishes. Get well, Dave. Get well.
• 16:36
And now, here's Sven with the weekly dose of p- fat. P- fat. P- fat. Ch- ch- ch- ch- ch- cha. Yeah. Well, I mean, we, we did do some fat biking last week. Yes, it is time. [laughs] It is time for the beach.
• 16:53
[laughs] Yes, the beach is presenting itself in all its sandy glory. Uh, we are checking out what has happened since the ice went away. The ice was ahead of...
• 17:04
La- last year was, like, a record year for ice cover on the Great Lakes in a long time. And up until March 1st, we were actually ahead of that, to have even more ice coverage this year.
• 17:13
But by the time March 6th rolled around, we were already several percent behind due to the warm weather. And, uh, when we hit the shoreline this weekend it was all gone.
• 17:23
But, uh- Yeah, there was just, like, little- Little-... remnants-... tufts... here. Little, like, oh, look... tussock, tussocks of ice... a little, little, little baby rock of ice. Yeah. Huh.
• 17:32
But, uh, w- the lake level's still pretty high, so our, our goal was to check out the beach north of, uh, Port Washington up as far as Sheboygan by making little hops in between to see what we come up with. And, uh,
• 17:43
north out of, uh, Harrington, pretty good for a, a good chunk. And then this next weekend we're gonna go back south from Sheboygan and check out what we can find on the, on the return trip. And then Lynx.
• 17:57
And we have Lynx. Lynx. A whole bunch of Lynx. Ooh, got Lynx all over the place there. Ooh, look at all... Lynx like a s- uh, no. Like, I don't even know.
• 18:07
That J- JP one, he's laying out his, his gear prep for the, the ITI. That's over there on, uh, Salsa Cycles website. Yes. Link in the show. Length. Length. Length There's a link in the show note for that one.
• 18:22
Uh, our, our buddy- There'll be a couple of those in there. [laughs] South America is very picturey. Like a lot of them. Yep. Our usual suspects, Coast Kid, Jill, Death Rider all had posts last week.
• 18:37
Uh, some fat bike stuff going on between Scotland, Alaska, and Minnesota. That's, uh, that's covering your world right there just about. I rode my 29 plus on gravel on Saturday instead of going to the beach.
• 18:51
You're going this next weekend, though. I am going. Going this next weekend. Yeah. You're tuned to Fat Bike Radio. Welcome to the radio program. Who do we have on the line? This is Evan, also known as Gazoo.
• 19:05
Dude, I know this guy. [laughs] What's up, Gomez? There he is. Hi. So, welcome to the radio program. How you doing, gentlemen? Hey, uh- Fuck yeah, boy. Well, I mean, heck yeah. [laughs] Did we said... Did you say beloit?
• 19:22
Fuck yeah, beloit. [laughs] That's what you say now. [laughs] Fuck yeah, beloit, man. Hey, you missed Tim Berntson, but, uh, you know, we're not world champions, but you could ask us a question. Yeah, I'm sorry.
• 19:39
I was drinking. I couldn't make it at 8:00. I'm usually not on time for these types of things. Nobody's ever on time. What is... D- does time even really exist? I don't think so. No, absolutely not.
• 19:54
I can, I can wholeheartedly, uh, uh, tell you that time is, is, uh, is created by our government to keep us in line. Exactly. Time is a flat circle. [laughs] Bunch, bunch of reds invented it. [laughs] I don't know.
• 20:13
Que- questions? Questions? Uh, is this Yeah, maybe... going to be done? Like, like, "Hey, is my fat bike fat enough?" Or, "How is... What kind, what kind of girlfriend should I get for my new fat bike?"
• 20:25
Is it hard to ride one of those? [laughs] Lay it on us, man. What, what, what, uh, what is your particular, uh, uh, beverage of choice when going out on a, on a, on a, an excursion? Oh. Alcoholic beverage of choice.
• 20:41
Cans of beer. Uh, in my pack. Yep. Cans of beer. And then- Pre- pretty often just your basic, uh, Miller High Life or Pabst Blue Ribbon I lean towards having a flask of some sort of whiskey. I'll true that.
• 20:54
Because sometimes, well, beer costs weight. [laughs] That's pack space and- There, there you go... back problems. There you go. Whereas a flask is- For bike packing, I would say, yep, tequila in a flask- Yeah...
• 21:06
would be a good thing. I'm the damn Heiderschmidt [laughs] so I need my whiskey. [laughs] I don't wanna be Mexican, I guess. [laughs] But, uh- I'm a damn 'Merican drinking my beer.
• 21:17
Aren't we- [laughs] Aren't we all Americans? Big latte. I, uh, no, I, you know what? Big latte. I... S- There are some good, it's like Modelo Especial would be a good pack beer. I like Genny Cream Ale for pack beer.
• 21:32
I like Coors Banquet for everyday kind of, uh... But... And then a special treat would be cans of Skol- Some Sierra Nevada or- Yeah. Torpedo. Torpedo. Yeah. Torpedoes. Tallboy. Tallboy. Oh, there you go with the weight.
• 21:50
Or my favorite, whatever Zito brings. [laughs] And I had to carry on Saturday. Ugh. Yeah. Well, that's always the thing. If you bring- He, he brought a backpack on Sunday. Ooh. If you bring beer- Oh. [laughs]...
• 22:00
then other people gotta carry it. That's the word. Yeah. It's always, it's always exciting when you see one of your, uh, one of your buddies show up with a backpack. There's goodies in there. [laughs] Not wa- not water.
• 22:13
So what's, uh, you're, you're a new member of the Bike Black Ribbon Society, am I correct? I am. I'm honored as well. I, I feel like I've got meaning now.
• 22:24
Well, you're supposed to be doing crimes and shit and paying the money up to the- Well, I'm- [laughs] That's the way the syndicate works, right? Well, then I've been a member for quite some time, I'm afraid.
• 22:34
[laughs] Just kidding. Just kidding, federal government about the crimes and stuff. And no [laughs] nobody told me this. [laughs] It, it's in the bylaws. It's in the bylaws. We gots to do crimes and pay Gomez and stuff.
• 22:52
Yeah. No, it's, it, it's great. I, I, I, uh, I enjoy it. I enjoy the logo. I enjoy the people. Yeah. It's the, it's the- Uh... seedy underbelly of, of cycling culture.
• 23:05
I think it's the, the correct underbelly of cycling culture, 'cause I've gone to a couple, uh, mountain bike races in my, uh,
• 23:14
my, my, my, uh, past years and I would definitely like to say that the fat bike races is where I wanna spend my time 'cause, uh, it's just way more fun. I don't know. It's not like that everywhere, you know? No, no egos.
• 23:28
Wisconsin's kind of got- No egos... got the whole, uh, festival atmosphere nailed. You can go to some other races and it'll be a little more serious. Yeah. Well, even when, uh, when Puck and, and- [laughs]...
• 23:40
Chad went up to Marquette, they had to show those guys how to do it up there. Yeah. Well, the, the two ambassadors, we could not ask for- [laughs]... two [laughs] better ambassadors from West Alica. But, uh, yeah.
• 23:57
Thanks for calling, Evan. Yeah, man. You got anything else for us? Absolutely. Absolutely. Um, I'm, uh, I'm taking a little bit of a hiatus. I'm going out to the, uh, Grand Canyon. Oh.
• 24:07
Taking the wife and the dogs and the Surly, of course. Very good. And, uh, hopefully I can get some- Well, there's some actual, there's some actual riding there on the North Rim
• 24:19
I think they have the North Rim closed until May- Oh... so I'm, I'm missing out on it. But, uh, I'm gonna do a recon sweep for a, my personal visit when I go back. Well, killer, man. Hell yeah, man.
• 24:31
My best to you, the wife, the dogs, the gnomes, and, uh, all of our cousins down there in Fibbylandia. You guys keep rocking hard- Thank you... and, uh, give us a ring back when you get back. Give us a little report.
• 24:45
Ah, hell yeah. I'll give you guys a, I'll call next Wednesday. I should still be out there, so I'll give you a live feed. [laughs] Killer, man. Cool. Sounds good. All right, Evan. Peace out. All right. See you.
• 24:54
All right, gentlemen. Have a good evening. Bye. Welcome to the radio program. [audio feedback] Who do we have on the line? Hi, this is Jerry from, uh, Hayward. Hi, Jerry. How's it going? Just fine.
• 25:07
I'm hanging out in West Allis with, uh, with, with Dave, the, uh, the salesperson from, uh, from Schleck Auto. Jerry, do you have us on, do you have us on speakerphone? Jerry? I'm on speakerphone. Oh, oh, God.
• 25:20
Let me, let me, uh, see if I can change that. Okay, I'm off speaker. How's that? Ah, that's a lot better. That's a lot better. You know, just silencing Dave in the background is great.
• 25:29
[laughs] That, that usually helps most situations. How are you doing? What are you guy- what are you guys up to right now? Oh, we, we're just hanging out. We're at Benno's. Ah, having a little dinner.
• 25:41
I'm down in Milwaukee for a conference. Right on. How's the, how's, how's the riding up Hayward Way these days? Last I knew it was pretty good. Still c- The, the trails are technically closed. Okay. Um,
• 25:55
the, uh, the gravel roads are in great shape. The single track on Saturday morning last week was awesome. We rode a whole bunch of Maqua. Although the county had closed it, the county forester had not,
• 26:10
so since it was all heavily frozen, we rode it anyway and it was great. N- no impact whatsoever. Right on. Um, the next couple of weeks are gonna be pretty questionable.
• 26:20
I don't know when they're gonna reopen the trails, but they're closed for the time being. All right, so, uh, the snow pack is gone and you're just waiting for the spring thaw and a little drying out? Yes.
• 26:32
Although, um, my wife texted me this morning and said that we had a half inch of snow this morning, so that's gonna slow down the, uh, recovery a little bit.
• 26:41
I just, uh, I just read a book that a guy up there wrote called The, The Treasure of, uh, Namakagon. Have you read that one yet? No. It's actually pretty good.
• 26:50
It's about, about Chief Namakagon and the lake and just that area back in the 1880s lumber camp days. Oh, we- When you wish you would've had a fat bike [laughs] Oh, yes, yes.
• 27:00
Yes, yes, we, yeah, my wife bought that, bought that book, uh, The Treasure... Yes. I haven't yet read it, but it sounds interesting. Yeah, give it a go.
• 27:06
It's a pretty quick read and, uh, you know, just having been up in that area, it's interesting to kinda lay some, uh, lay some landmarks down when you're reading a book that you've seen from your bike seat. Indeed.
• 27:19
Yeah, yeah, where is that lost silver mine? [laughs] Yeah, find that thing and we can all afford titanium bikes. Yeah, I'll be looking for that. [laughs] So you're, what do you, what are you riding, Jerry?
• 27:29
What kind of fat bike are you on these days? I'm riding a Lynskey. A Lynskey FatSki? It was, uh, it was built for... A Lynskey from Tennessee.
• 27:39
Well, they used to have a fat bike called a Stratus, like a stratus cloud, but then they changed the name. A Stratus? Yeah. And then they changed it to the Lynskey FatSki. Okay. And yours is pretty old, right?
• 27:53
Uh, it's several years old? Oh, mine's, like, five years old. Okay. It was, it was built before Lynskey was actually marketing their own fat bikes.
• 28:04
It was when Lynskey was building the, uh, titanium bikes for Salsa and for Fatback. Right. So- So mine was d- mine was the Fatback design and it was built for one of the guys at the factory at Lynskey's. Oh.
• 28:19
And then he got all pissed off at Dave Lynskey and quit his job and put his bike on eBay and I bought it. [laughs] Very good. So you're running that 29 plus now, eh? Yes. I got my 29 plus wheels on it today, Northpaws.
• 28:33
Northpaws. Very good. Well, I hope you and Dave are having a good time over there at Benno's. Tony- Yeah, you know, so far so good... are you leaving town tomorrow? Yes. Ah, sorry you didn't get a ride in.
• 28:47
Conditions around here are pretty- Well-... sloppy as well. Yeah, you gotta pretty much stick to roads these days. That's the way it'll be for the next five weeks, ladies and gentlemen. Except for the beach.
• 28:59
Yeah, perhaps. Except for the beach. Come and join us on a beach ride down here when you got time. I was hoping to this w- this week, but, you know, it didn't work out. All right. Well, we'll still be here.
• 29:09
[laughs] Okay. All right. Thanks for calling in, Jerry. You bet. The next event is, uh, the Decorah Time Trials, April 25. Right on. That's always a good one. All right. We'll probably see you there. Take care.
• 29:21
Very good. Take care, Greg. Bye bye. Bye, Jerry. Thanks again to Surly for sponsoring the radio portion of today's broadcast. Surly loves bike shops.
• 29:32
If your local bike shop doesn't carry Surly, bring them a six-pack of beer and have a sit-down talk with them about it, and may the schwartz be with you, always. Always. Saludos, amigos. 52 cards in a row.
