- 0:10Speaker 1: Let me ask you something. Where do you get this
- 0:13Speaker 1: fantastic gear from? My trunk.
- 0:17Speaker 2: Really?
- 0:18Speaker 1: Yeah. I'm just saying, but is this LAV? No, no, no.
- 0:22Speaker 3: Some stuff I buy off the rack. You know, sometimes
- 0:25Speaker 3: I have stuff in the closet. And yeah, I just
- 0:28Speaker 3: kind of just put stuff together. I really, you know,
- 0:31Speaker 3: with the show, you really don't know what you want
- 0:32Speaker 3: to wear.
- 0:33Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah. But I'm just noticing like.
- 0:36Speaker 4: You've always been kind of a fly dresser. Even back
- 0:38Speaker 4: in the Steve Harvey suit days when you was in
- 0:40Speaker 4: the 90s, you had some fly-ass suits.
- 0:43Speaker 3: I will attribute my fashion sense to my mama.
- 0:47Speaker 1: Okay.
- 0:48Speaker 3: When we were growing up, she was a seamstress. In
- 0:52Speaker 3: our city, it's a small city, everybody worked at Russell Athletic.
- 0:57Speaker 1: And so... That was the big factory in the town?
- 0:59Speaker 3: Yeah, the big textile factory. Back in the day when
- 1:02Speaker 3: they were doing MLB.
- 1:05Speaker 3: All the collegiate jerseys, high school jerseys.
- 1:08Speaker 1: NFL, NBA, yeah. All of that was made in my town, bro.
- 1:12Speaker 1: I had no idea.
- 1:14Speaker 3: Honestly, I didn't understand manufacturing. I didn't know what that meant.
- 1:18Speaker 3: My fashion sense, I think I got it from her
- 1:19Speaker 3: because she made, like even still today, my kids, she's
- 1:24Speaker 3: made their clothes.
- 1:25Speaker 1: When I grew up, she made me and my sister.
- 1:27Speaker 3: And brother their clothes, everything, costumes for plays and stuff
- 1:31Speaker 3: in school.
- 1:32Speaker 1: She did that.
- 1:33Speaker 4: Welcome to Get to the Point with Chris Spencer and T.O.
- 1:36Speaker 4: And I'm learning about my man's fashion sense. Apparently he
- 1:39Speaker 4: got it from his mama because he wears some dope shit.
- 1:43Speaker 4: And a lot of the stuff, I mentioned the name L.A.V.
- 1:45Speaker 4: That's a friend of ours. And he's always dressing fly.
- 1:48Speaker 4: And I'm trying to figure out, I'm glad you told
- 1:50Speaker 4: me because he makes his own clothes sometimes.
- 1:52Speaker 1: This he bought off the rack, he said. Yeah.
- 1:54Speaker 4: And so I'm glad to know that you do shop
- 1:57Speaker 4: with us regular folk. Yo, if you're watching our show,
- 2:01Speaker 4: Get to the Point, please share, like, and subscribe to GTTPPOD.
- 2:08Speaker 4: That's our show, Get to the P, Get to the
- 2:11Speaker 4: Point podcast. Sometimes I butcher it, all right? But this
- 2:16Speaker 4: is very early on in the show. Our guest, one
- 2:19Speaker 4: of the funniest human beings in the world. And if
- 2:21Speaker 4: he's not one of the funniest human beings, he has
- 2:23Speaker 4: the ability to imitate other funny human beings.
- 2:27Speaker 2: Oh, yeah.
- 2:28Speaker 1: No doubt.
- 2:28Speaker 4: Six seasons on SNL. Quiz with Balls, which is a
- 2:34Speaker 4: weird name for a game show, for a straight game show.
- 2:37Speaker 1: Yeah, it's called Quiz with Balls.
- 2:40Speaker 5: Pause.
- 2:42Speaker 4: Ladies and gentlemen, we're going to talk more about his resume,
- 2:45Speaker 4: the Jay Pharoah.
- 2:46Speaker 1: What's up, baby? What's going on with you? What's up
- 2:49Speaker 1: with you, T? Listen, what's up with you, T? What's up, Chris, man?
- 2:52Speaker 1: Been watching for years. The first time meeting you, of course.
- 2:54Speaker 1: We've seen each other multiple times, worked with each other.
- 2:57Speaker 5: On projects that should have gone further than they did.
- 3:01Speaker 1: That's what that is.
- 3:02Speaker 4: Let me tell you a story, just a little quick,
- 3:04Speaker 4: some Hollywood tidbit. I created a show called White Famous.
- 3:07Speaker 1: Yes.
- 3:07Speaker 4: We had big plans, me and Buddy Lewis, with Showtime.
- 3:13Speaker 4: And then I got fired.
- 3:14Speaker 1: Oh, man.
- 3:14Speaker 4: But the show kept going. And they hired this young man,
- 3:18Speaker 4: Jay Pharoah.
- 3:19Speaker 5: Yes.
- 3:19Speaker 4: And then a white 65-year-old showrunner ruined it.
- 3:25Speaker 1: Yeah, but shout out to Tom Capanos. He's done some
- 3:28Speaker 1: exquisite work. No, he's done some great stuff. This just
- 3:32Speaker 1: wasn't the right project for him. Hollywood is funny. We
- 3:35Speaker 1: got fired before we hired Jay. Okay. And the problem
- 3:42Speaker 1: with the show was that, like he's saying, there were
- 3:46Speaker 1: no black writers in the room when we were spitting
- 3:49Speaker 1: out the episodes.
- 3:50Speaker 4: It's a show about a black comedian, and it was
- 3:52Speaker 4: written and created by two black comedians, myself.
- 3:55Speaker 1: And Buddy Lewis.
- 3:56Speaker 4: And then they gave it over to the guy who
- 3:58Speaker 4: created Californication, which was an incredible show.
- 4:00Speaker 1: Yes. For white people. Yes. It was a great white show. Yes.
- 4:04Speaker 1: There you go.
- 4:05Speaker 5: Okay.
- 4:05Speaker 1: I was trying to go.
- 4:06Speaker 5: Go ahead, man.
- 4:07Speaker 1: So it's like white. People were trying to make potato salad.
- 4:10Speaker 2: Yes.
- 4:11Speaker 1: Oh. Yes. A lot of raisins. A lot of raisins.
- 4:14Speaker 1: They threw some raisins. And some walnuts was in the show, too.
- 4:17Speaker 1: Some walnuts. Yeah.
- 4:18Speaker 3: So I picked up what y'all were putting down.
- 4:19Speaker 6: So, yeah.
- 4:20Speaker 1: So when I watched the show, it was just like,
- 4:21Speaker 1: my words. These aren't my words. But, yo, your career
- 4:25Speaker 1: is flourishing.
- 4:26Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 4:26Speaker 4: Congratulations on everything else.
- 4:28Speaker 1: By the grace of God.
- 4:30Speaker 3: You know, when people sit down, I kind of fill
- 4:35Speaker 3: out their attire.
- 4:36Speaker 1: Okay. I know when people are making it. Right.
- 4:38Speaker 3: When they start having letters on their shirts, these hot designers.
- 4:41Speaker 4: Limit L's and V's.
- 4:42Speaker 1: Right, right. Is that velvet? Yes. What is this, velvet? Yes,
- 4:46Speaker 1: it's very soft, nice and suave. Look at this. This
- 4:49Speaker 1: is Louis Vuitton. It is Louis Vuitton.
- 4:52Speaker 8: I have sneakers like this, but I did not even
- 4:54Speaker 8: buy them.
- 4:55Speaker 1: This is at the level of fame I've got to Pharrell.
- 4:57Speaker 1: Gave them to me. Shout out to Pharrell. whoa, that's Pharrell.
- 5:01Speaker 1: He'd be screaming, yeah, clap your hand. You know, got it.
- 5:05Speaker 1: That's Pharrell right there. Let's just get into it.
- 5:07Speaker 4: What was your first impression and how old were you?
- 5:10Speaker 1: I was six, and it was a Jewish white guy
- 5:13Speaker 1: named Gilbert Gottfried. That was my first one. Gilbert Gottfried.
- 5:16Speaker 1: That was my first impression.
- 5:19Speaker 3: I did Celebrity Apprentice with Gilbert.
- 5:21Speaker 1: Did you really? Yeah, West in Peace, man. Sweet guy.
- 5:24Speaker 1: Sweet dude. Well, we got to hear it.
- 5:25Speaker 5: I mean, this was before puberty, though, so I don't
- 5:28Speaker 5: know how good it's going to be.
- 5:30Speaker 3: At six, how do you know anything about Gilbert Gottfried
- 5:33Speaker 3: and the dude impersonation?
- 5:34Speaker 5: Aladdin.
- 5:34Speaker 1: Aladdin. Aladdin, bro. I was a kid. He was the parent.
- 5:38Speaker 1: He was Iago. I was my first impression. I'm melting, Jafar! Like,
- 5:43Speaker 1: that was.
- 5:44Speaker 3: That is him.
- 5:45Speaker 1: Yeah, man. Yeah, man. And then when he gets off of...
- 5:48Speaker 1: It's so funny. I met him in person, and I
- 5:50Speaker 1: had never met him before, but I had seen his
- 5:52Speaker 1: persona on stage. It's not like that offstage. No. He's
- 5:56Speaker 1: real quiet. Real chill. Very docile when he gets offstage.
- 6:00Speaker 2: He's just.
- 6:01Speaker 1: Hey, hey, how you doing?
- 6:02Speaker 8: Exactly.
- 6:02Speaker 1: That's how he is.
- 6:03Speaker 3: He's very chill, like you said, laid back.
- 6:06Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah. And then he gets on stage. But if
- 6:10Speaker 1: masturbation was a crime, I'd be on death row. I'm like, ha, ha, ha.
- 6:15Speaker 1: That was one of the best jokes I heard that
- 6:17Speaker 1: man say. So wait, you were on Apprentice, Celebrity Apprentice.
- 6:21Speaker 9: Yeah, yeah.
- 6:21Speaker 4: How would Gilbert Godfrey, I mean, you can't do the impression,
- 6:26Speaker 4: but let me hear him talking to Trump.
- 6:29Speaker 1: After Trump fires him.
- 6:32Speaker 5: Nobody cares that I got fired because you still have
- 6:35Speaker 5: a micro penis.
- 6:39Speaker 1: That's what they say. I've never seen it. Do you
- 6:42Speaker 1: do Trump, too? Absolutely. Absolutely do Trump. Absolutely. I love
- 6:48Speaker 1: the black people. The black people absolutely love me.
- 6:51Speaker 5: I love my favorite channel from the blacks is BET.
- 6:56Speaker 1: I love BET. I love to bet on things, so
- 6:59Speaker 1: I love BET. B-E-T.
- 7:00Speaker 5: BET.
- 7:01Speaker 1: You know. Two Corinthians. You know, things like that. That
- 7:05Speaker 1: is crazy. Hey, man. That is crazy. They give credit
- 7:10Speaker 1: to other people for those impressions, but it's fine. I
- 7:13Speaker 1: really don't get that. No, I mean, there's quite a
- 7:15Speaker 1: few of you guys that are incredible at it. Right. You, Godfrey, Afion,
- 7:19Speaker 1: Jamie Foxx, of course. Yeah, of course. Your friend, Aries Spears. Oh,
- 7:23Speaker 1: come on now. Don't do that. That's a strong word
- 7:26Speaker 1: right there, friend. For those of.
- 7:28Speaker 4: You who don't know, fuck it, we getting straight into it.
- 7:30Speaker 4: For those of you who don't know, our dear friend,
- 7:33Speaker 4: Aries Spears, fixed his mouth to say that he didn't
- 7:37Speaker 4: think Bernie Mac was that funny.
- 7:39Speaker 1: Oh, come on, man. That is blasphemy. My top five, man.
- 7:44Speaker 1: My top five, before we even get into this, is
- 7:47Speaker 1: Eddie Murphy, Robin Harris, Bernie Mac, Chris Rock and I'd
- 7:52Speaker 1: say probably I put I put Chappelle in there and
- 7:54Speaker 1: then you can't even rank Pryor because Pryor is up
- 7:57Speaker 1: here you know what I'm saying so.
- 7:58Speaker 3: Yeah him and Chappelle it's kind of like you kind
- 8:00Speaker 3: of put them in a different category.
- 8:01Speaker 1: Yeah you know what I'm saying yeah but you know
- 8:04Speaker 1: you talking about.
- 8:06Speaker 4: So I I don't think Aries got out what he
- 8:09Speaker 4: was trying to say properly I think he was saying
- 8:12Speaker 4: he the the impression right the the cadence of Bernie
- 8:20Speaker 4: Mac throws him off from not understanding the joke. I
- 8:25Speaker 4: think that's what he was trying to say.
- 8:26Speaker 3: Are you really trying to defend?
- 8:28Speaker 1: No, I don't know why the.
- 8:29Speaker 4: Fuck I just did it. I've known Aaron since he
- 8:32Speaker 4: was 19 years old, so I'm still blown away.
- 8:34Speaker 3: That's always like, this is like somebody knowing Jay and
- 8:38Speaker 3: saying that he's not funny.
- 8:39Speaker 5: Right.
- 8:40Speaker 3: He's not one of the top impressionists.
- 8:42Speaker 1: You know what I mean? Yeah, that's blasphemous right there.
- 8:45Speaker 1: You can't say that. What would Bernie say? I knew
- 8:47Speaker 1: you was going, I knew you was going. Let me
- 8:50Speaker 1: tell you this, motherfucker, something. Now, first of all, I've
- 8:52Speaker 1: been funny since you was still in Nut City. When
- 8:55Speaker 1: you was sitting there swimming around, you know, what you
- 8:57Speaker 1: need to do is, you need to watch what you eat,
- 8:59Speaker 1: you know, because your eyes, your eyes kind of blacked out,
- 9:01Speaker 1: you know.
- 9:02Speaker 5: I don't know whether you try to look at me,
- 9:03Speaker 5: try to rob me. Just look at my soul over here.
- 9:05Speaker 1: You see his eyes, you know. You see the black marks,
- 9:08Speaker 1: you know. That's a lot of hatred, you know. That's
- 9:10Speaker 1: a lot of hatred up in there, you know. So
- 9:12Speaker 1: I feel, if somebody say I'm not funny, I'm going
- 9:14Speaker 1: to tell you this. Nigga, you stupid. Something wrong with you.
- 9:17Speaker 1: Something wrong with you.
- 9:18Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 9:19Speaker 1: You got a motherfucking problem. You know, I don't need
- 9:20Speaker 1: a curse no more like that, you know. I don't
- 9:22Speaker 1: curse off stage with a curse on the motherfucking stage,
- 9:24Speaker 1: you know. And when I get off, I'm.
- 9:26Speaker 5: Going to tell you, it don't make no motherfucking sense.
- 9:31Speaker 1: That's crazy. That's not funny to you, Aries? Hey, man.
- 9:33Speaker 1: That's not funny to you.
- 9:34Speaker 5: He say he don't get it. Hey, everybody got their...
- 9:37Speaker 5: Everybody got their taste, though.
- 9:38Speaker 1: You know what I mean?
- 9:39Speaker 5: Some people, some people, folks find hilarious. Other people say
- 9:42Speaker 5: it's not funny.
- 9:43Speaker 3: I don't understand the logic or just the thought process.
- 9:47Speaker 1: Of fixing your mouth to say something like this.
- 9:51Speaker 4: He might be a genius. He might know how to
- 9:54Speaker 4: make us talk. Maybe he doesn't feel it.
- 9:57Speaker 1: Maybe that's exactly what the hell he was doing, you know.
- 10:00Speaker 1: Because there ain't no motherfucking way you gonna tell me
- 10:02Speaker 1: I ain't had the best time on Def Comedy Jam.
- 10:05Speaker 1: After the nigga the bomb, you know, I came out
- 10:07Speaker 1: there and blew that motherfucker up. Now you gonna tell me,
- 10:09Speaker 1: you gonna tell me I'm not funny. But you can't
- 10:11Speaker 1: understand what the hell I'm saying. You're from Chicago. You
- 10:14Speaker 1: understand every word I'm saying. What the fuck is your podcast?
- 10:17Speaker 1: I said what the fuck I said. You can't understand it.
- 10:20Speaker 3: It's funny.
- 10:21Speaker 5: Laugh.
- 10:21Speaker 1: What the fuck wrong with you? Did you ever meet Bernie?
- 10:24Speaker 2: No.
- 10:24Speaker 1: You know, my first, I'll tell you this story, Chris.
- 10:28Speaker 1: When I was heading to film my first episode of
- 10:32Speaker 1: Comic View in 2008. What city? This was Los Angeles. Oh, terrible.
- 10:38Speaker 1: Who was hosting? It was Kev. Kev was hosting. Oh, yes. Yeah.
- 10:42Speaker 1: Coming to the stage. Yep. When I did that and
- 10:45Speaker 1: I was about to board the plane, the news broke
- 10:48Speaker 1: that Bernie died.
- 10:49Speaker 7: Wow.
- 10:50Speaker 1: Yeah, man. That took a toll because I... I love
- 10:55Speaker 1: Birdie Mac. King's a comedy. Oh, my gosh.
- 10:58Speaker 3: I watched that so many.
- 11:02Speaker 1: Times, bro. Spike Lee directed that, by the way. Did
- 11:05Speaker 1: not know that. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. And that was
- 11:08Speaker 1: the first time somebody actually did a digital. That's digital. Yeah.
- 11:12Speaker 4: They were like, this is our first. I don't know
- 11:13Speaker 4: if it's the first time, but it wasn't film. They
- 11:15Speaker 4: shot that on digital. That's why the colors look kind
- 11:17Speaker 4: of different.
- 11:17Speaker 1: It was, dude. It was so funny to me, just
- 11:21Speaker 1: him talking about the kids and- He was talking about, no,
- 11:26Speaker 1: I can't allow that, you know. I said, your honor,
- 11:28Speaker 1: we're going to split custody. This dirty son of a
- 11:30Speaker 1: bitch going to turn his back. I swear if I
- 11:32Speaker 1: see him ever, I'm going to bust him. He said, see,
- 11:34Speaker 1: I'm looking for that motherfucker, you know. Can't kill the able,
- 11:36Speaker 1: you know. I do not think that's funny, Eric. Let's
- 11:41Speaker 1: go back to the beginning. Let's go. Gilbert Gottfried, you're
- 11:45Speaker 1: a child. You did an impression. Six years old.
- 11:48Speaker 4: Six years old, which is crazy because I think I
- 11:50Speaker 4: was 26 when that movie came out.
- 11:51Speaker 1: Aladdin. I used my impression powers to get girls when
- 11:55Speaker 1: I was younger. That's what I did. So now what
- 11:57Speaker 1: do you do? I mean, I ain't got to now.
- 12:01Speaker 1: I mean, you know, I'm cute with Louis Vuitton. You
- 12:03Speaker 1: know what I'm saying? I'm a little swaggy. You know
- 12:05Speaker 1: what I'm saying? Still got my hairline, nigga. You know
- 12:07Speaker 1: what I'm saying? I don't know about the hairline. I
- 12:09Speaker 1: don't know if you still got it. No, it's here. No,
- 12:12Speaker 1: it's here, nigga.
- 12:13Speaker 5: Hey, T.O.
- 12:13Speaker 1: Take your hat off. Yeah, we ain't like that.
- 12:17Speaker 5: No.
- 12:19Speaker 1: We ain't there yet. Now, I done constructed it. I
- 12:22Speaker 1: done came back and constructed it a few times, but
- 12:24Speaker 1: we there. The stuff from you. Hey, I can put
- 12:26Speaker 1: you on. Did you go to Turkey? Nah, I didn't
- 12:28Speaker 1: go to Turkey. I'm not going to sit there and
- 12:30Speaker 1: be in that damn plane looking like a nuclear explosion.
- 12:33Speaker 1: Nigga's head. Nigga's got the mushroom head. And their faces
- 12:36Speaker 1: are swollen. And the nigga's sitting like this. Now, what part,
- 12:40Speaker 1: why do you think that's a good idea for you
- 12:42Speaker 1: to just have gotten surgery and you go in high
- 12:45Speaker 1: altitude with a lot of pressure? You're going to pop
- 12:47Speaker 1: your hairline out.
- 12:48Speaker 8: Oh, it's that.
- 12:48Speaker 1: God, what's happening? Absolutely. Niggas is stupid.
- 12:51Speaker 3: They got to chill for a few days, let all
- 12:53Speaker 3: the swelling go down.
- 12:55Speaker 1: Take a couple of weeks. Yeah, yeah. Go to sleep.
- 12:59Speaker 1: And then get on the plane. They trying to get
- 13:01Speaker 1: back to show their hairline off. Yeah. Teach us. It
- 13:06Speaker 1: takes about how long it takes for you to see results.
- 13:09Speaker 1: You see results probably anywhere from three to six. Were
- 13:13Speaker 1: you like me? I wasn't that bad.
- 13:15Speaker 5: Nah.
- 13:15Speaker 1: You ain't got to say it like that. Nah.
- 13:16Speaker 2: No, no, no.
- 13:17Speaker 1: I'm just saying. I mean, I can hear you. I
- 13:18Speaker 1: wasn't that far gone. I wasn't that far gone. But
- 13:21Speaker 1: it was getting patchy. So I had to go ahead
- 13:24Speaker 1: and try to do some couple of things. So you
- 13:26Speaker 1: didn't go to LeBron's people? Nah, I didn't go to
- 13:28Speaker 1: LeBron's people. Well, they failed. Because, you know, he got
- 13:33Speaker 1: the strip. You're back here. You can see where it was. Yeah.
- 13:36Speaker 1: And then he tried to put. Nah.
- 13:37Speaker 3: See what happened was.

- 14:51Speaker 1: people that put on do-rags and them niggas is bald.
- 14:54Speaker 1: What are y'all doing? That's just a, that's just a
- 14:57Speaker 1: It's just fashion. It's just a look. It's just fashion. Oh,
- 15:00Speaker 1: so wait. So are you putting juices and berries? Oh, yeah.
- 15:04Speaker 1: It's called PP405. It's the new joint. Like, you know,
- 15:08Speaker 1: you put it in there. You also get roll. You
- 15:11Speaker 1: can do that. And then you have to get an oil, too,
- 15:13Speaker 1: like a rosemary or something.
- 15:14Speaker 4: That's like the GLP for hair?
- 15:17Speaker 1: Yeah. Sometimes for hair. Or what you could do.
- 15:20Speaker 5: I don't know how y'all feel, but, you know, I
- 15:23Speaker 5: don't know how hairy your body is, but, you know,
- 15:26Speaker 5: they could pluck hairs for you.
- 15:28Speaker 1: For your ass.
- 15:29Speaker 7: Oh, really?
- 15:29Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 15:30Speaker 1: And put it up there? And put it up there. Now,
- 15:32Speaker 1: I wouldn't suggest that. You know, I would suggest the back. Say,
- 15:36Speaker 1: why you got underarm hair on your head? Exactly. You
- 15:39Speaker 1: ain't lying. Look at Charleston White. Nigga, that ain't all from. Oh,
- 15:42Speaker 1: my God. You know how it go like this?
- 15:45Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 15:45Speaker 1: That's because it's. That's ass hair. That's ass hair. Oh,
- 15:49Speaker 1: body hair. I don't know if it came from his booty.
- 15:52Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying?
- 15:53Speaker 6: Ass hair.
- 15:53Speaker 1: Oh, this hair. I could just, man, I could just, man. Yo, yo, yo, yo,
- 15:57Speaker 1: go ahead and pluck that hair. Yo, yo, yo, yo, yo,
- 16:00Speaker 1: pluck it from back there. Hey, now, I'm going to
- 16:02Speaker 1: tell you what you did. You touched me a little bit. Yeah,
- 16:03Speaker 1: I crushed your eye. Oh, wait. Well, he only got one.
- 16:07Speaker 1: He got, because the other one, it ain't a cross eye.
- 16:09Speaker 1: This is one real one and the other one fake.
- 16:11Speaker 1: That's why. That's why I had to stop doing Shaq
- 16:13Speaker 1: because my eyes was getting crossed. Wait, did you see
- 16:16Speaker 1: him do Shaq?
- 16:17Speaker 2: I'm a big fan. I love you.
- 16:18Speaker 1: Maybe you can work for Papa John's. You can work
- 16:20Speaker 1: for Papa John's in the general.
- 16:21Speaker 2: Listen.
- 16:22Speaker 1: What would Shaq say to Aries about saying Bernie Mac's
- 16:24Speaker 1: not funny?
- 16:25Speaker 2: Listen, you're entitled to your opinion. That's what I would say.
- 16:27Speaker 2: You're entitled to your opinion. You can say whatever you want.
- 16:30Speaker 2: But to say that motherfucker ain't funny, that's ridiculous. It
- 16:33Speaker 2: doesn't make any sense. I think it's hilarious when I
- 16:36Speaker 2: can see him, which is never.
- 16:39Speaker 4: Have you ever done an impression of somebody to that
- 16:42Speaker 4: celebrity and they didn't like it?
- 16:44Speaker 1: He didn't say it, but it had to be iced tea.
- 16:47Speaker 1: Had to be iced. But he's got a good sense
- 16:48Speaker 1: of humor. Yeah, he came to my show a year later, but,
- 16:52Speaker 1: you know, in the time, his eye was twitching. And
- 16:56Speaker 1: I know.
- 16:56Speaker 5: What it is, too, because... I exaggerate people's mannerisms. So
- 17:01Speaker 5: I exaggerated the lisp.
- 17:03Speaker 1: And I know. I didn't even know he had a lisp. Yeah, exactly.
- 17:05Speaker 1: Because he's worked on it. He didn't before. Ice-T, Platinum Playboy,
- 17:10Speaker 1: we do hits around here.
- 17:11Speaker 5: Listen, how are you going to say that you didn't
- 17:14Speaker 5: commit the crime when we got your fingerprints all.
- 17:17Speaker 1: Over the thing? Holy shit. I did that. He was like,
- 17:21Speaker 1: because you can tell. As you can tell, he been practicing.
- 17:25Speaker 1: You know, he go to speech class. He be practicing. Right, right.
- 17:28Speaker 1: Trying not to use it. But, hey, Shannon Sharp. Shannon
- 17:32Speaker 1: Sharp is another one. He got mad? He got mad
- 17:34Speaker 1: at first. But when I did Club Shay Shay, he
- 17:36Speaker 1: was good. You know what I mean?
- 17:37Speaker 5: He was like, Will, at first when you did it,
- 17:41Speaker 5: first when you did it, I got very offended.
- 17:43Speaker 1: And let me tell you why I got offended. Because,
- 17:45Speaker 1: you know, I didn't believe that I felt it like that.
- 17:50Speaker 1: And then you toned it down, and then you got
- 17:52Speaker 1: into it, but at first, why you messing with me, foe?
- 17:54Speaker 1: Why you messing with me, foe? Jay, you ain't got
- 17:56Speaker 1: to mess with me, foe. Come on, now. Come on, now.
- 18:00Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying? So I toned it when
- 18:02Speaker 1: I really... laser point focus and get it down like
- 18:09Speaker 1: that if i just bs it then it's gonna be
- 18:12Speaker 1: it gonna be half right and you know who i
- 18:15Speaker 1: oh i'm really doing and who i'm not doing so
- 18:17Speaker 1: he he knew that i wasn't he saw my capability
- 18:20Speaker 1: he was like you could have done better than that
- 18:22Speaker 1: and i was like all right that was true but
- 18:23Speaker 1: i i improved it and we good man who was
- 18:26Speaker 1: the hardest person for you to get denzel Really? It
- 18:29Speaker 1: took me years to get that down. Really? Because my
- 18:32Speaker 1: voice wasn't there yet. You know, I was a young boy.
- 18:35Speaker 1: I was a young boy. Sound like somebody from Philly. Philly. Yeah,
- 18:37Speaker 1: my young boy. My old head. My young John. Why
- 18:40Speaker 1: they say that?
- 18:41Speaker 5: Young John.
- 18:42Speaker 1: Charlie Mack. Oh, yeah.
- 18:43Speaker 2: Oh, yeah.
- 18:44Speaker 5: Oh, yeah.
- 18:44Speaker 1: Him. Gil. Gilly the King. Gilly, man. Gilly the Kid, man.
- 18:48Speaker 1: Gilly the King of Philly, man. So, you know, I
- 18:51Speaker 1: was a young boy. So, I was a young boy. So,
- 18:53Speaker 1: it wasn't... It just wasn't there yet, and it just
- 18:56Speaker 1: took me three years to get comfortable with it. And now?
- 18:59Speaker 1: And I mean, now. I mean, I do it, you
- 19:02Speaker 1: know what I'm saying? But I still always feel like
- 19:05Speaker 1: you can find other nuances in a character. You can
- 19:07Speaker 1: always do that. You know who does a great job?
- 19:08Speaker 1: What's the big dude? Oh, yeah, I know who you're
- 19:11Speaker 1: talking about. He does it good. Yeah, yeah.
- 19:12Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah.
- 19:14Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, he's good. So who gave you the wildest reaction?
- 19:18Speaker 5: It was Denzel who gave me the wildest reaction. You're
- 19:21Speaker 5: slowly turning into him. No, I'm doing him right now.
- 19:24Speaker 5: That's what I'm doing. I'm talking to him. I'm talking
- 19:26Speaker 5: just like him. But he said, oh, you owe me
- 19:28Speaker 5: a lot of money, Negro. You know that, right? Yeah,
- 19:30Speaker 5: I'm keeping you hot. And you're a lot taller than
- 19:33Speaker 5: I thought you were. I thought you were a little kid.
- 19:34Speaker 5: You got an arm on you too, Pharaoh, don't you?
- 19:36Speaker 1: Okay. Yeah, okay. That's what he did. It was so cool. Anyway. Yeah.
- 19:42Speaker 1: So Denzel gave me the wildest reaction. Will Smith just,
- 19:44Speaker 1: this was years ago. He was like, yo, I don't
- 19:47Speaker 1: think you can sound like me. I was like, yo, Will,
- 19:50Speaker 1: stop playing. Yeah, that's some funny stuff. Yeah, keep going. Yeah, good. Yeah, smacks. Yeah,
- 19:56Speaker 1: it really hits.
- 19:58Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 19:59Speaker 1: So what? That is just crazy to me. Go ahead, man.
- 20:03Speaker 1: Go ahead. What you about to ask, brother?
- 20:06Speaker 3: Is it ever is it ever normal with you like
- 20:09Speaker 3: like around your family like because i know it's like
- 20:12Speaker 3: to be who you are to do all the impressions
- 20:14Speaker 3: does it does it get old like for me like
- 20:17Speaker 3: when i go out chris go out and like for
- 20:19Speaker 3: me it's like you get the attention yeah does it
- 20:22Speaker 3: ever get old or you get tired.
- 20:24Speaker 7: Of it or probably tired of people asking right exactly
- 20:27Speaker 7: yeah because i'm like bro you got it like for
- 20:29Speaker 7: me like i go out or whatever there's a time
- 20:31Speaker 7: like You have to know when you go places you
- 20:33Speaker 7: have to be on because you've created this audience.
- 20:37Speaker 3: You've made so many people laugh, happy. And then you
- 20:43Speaker 3: go in public and then when is there the quiet
- 20:46Speaker 3: time for Jay?
- 20:48Speaker 1: I mean, I'll be honest with you. When I'm out
- 20:51Speaker 1: and people see me, restaurants, whatever, and they come up,
- 20:54Speaker 1: they don't ask for impressions. You know what I mean?
- 20:56Speaker 1: Most of the time they just come up to me
- 20:57Speaker 1: and be like, they be like, release the balls from
- 20:59Speaker 1: Quiz with Balls. That's my little catchphrase, whatever.
- 21:01Speaker 5: Okay.
- 21:02Speaker 1: But most of the time, they don't bother me, man.
- 21:05Speaker 1: People are real respectful. Even at the shows, nobody's yelling
- 21:09Speaker 1: out for me to do crazy stuff, because I'm doing comedy.
- 21:12Speaker 1: I'm like... So they laugh and ain't got no time. Oh, yeah,
- 21:15Speaker 1: that's right. He do the Denzel. You know what I'm saying?
- 21:18Speaker 5: Oh, that's right.
- 21:18Speaker 1: Yeah, I ain't see him do Eddie Murphy. Eddie Murphy.
- 21:21Speaker 1: You know, but they don't, it doesn't happen a lot
- 21:23Speaker 1: because I feel like, I feel like my show, most
- 21:26Speaker 1: of it is, most of it's stand up. At the end,
- 21:28Speaker 1: I'll mix some impressions in there. But, you know, you're
- 21:30Speaker 1: not waiting for it because I know how to seamlessly
- 21:34Speaker 1: drop whatever I need to drop in. You still love it? What, comedy? Stand-up, yeah.
- 21:40Speaker 1: I love it. Now, when I do see my peers
- 21:44Speaker 1: who have superseded and gone to stadiums and things of
- 21:48Speaker 1: that sort, sometimes it can get a little disheartening. But
- 21:51Speaker 1: at the same time, you know, we are conduits of truth. And,
- 21:58Speaker 1: you know, God put us here to make people forget
- 22:00Speaker 1: about their problems. So I don't care if I do
- 22:02Speaker 1: that in front of, if it's 1,500 people, if it's
- 22:04Speaker 1: 400 people. If it's if I'm doing an arena show
- 22:08Speaker 1: with somebody and it's 12,000 people or if I'm lucky
- 22:13Speaker 1: enough to get on a stadium show and do like,
- 22:15Speaker 1: you know, do 40 or whatever, like I'm doing my job.
- 22:18Speaker 1: So I believe since God put me here to do that,
- 22:23Speaker 1: I can never get mad at that tool. You know,
- 22:28Speaker 1: I can never be mad at it. You know, I
- 22:31Speaker 1: now sometimes I feel like, man, maybe I just need
- 22:33Speaker 1: to stop this and just preach. I'd be feeling like
- 22:35Speaker 1: that sometimes. Because I do kind of have a lot
- 22:37Speaker 1: of I do put a lot of Christian truth in
- 22:40Speaker 1: a part of my act. And I let people know,
- 22:43Speaker 1: you know, my struggle and my journey and how I
- 22:46Speaker 1: overcame a lot, you know, just in Hollywood in general. Like, Joe,
- 22:51Speaker 1: up to 2023, it was it was crazy. I started
- 22:54Speaker 1: feeling I just felt dirty at the end of that.
- 22:57Speaker 1: I was like, I can't keep doing this. This is not.
- 23:00Speaker 1: This is not what God intended me to use this
- 23:03Speaker 1: talent for, to use it for my selfish desires, which
- 23:08Speaker 1: played out every fantasy I had. What? Some of the best.
- 23:13Speaker 2: What?
- 23:14Speaker 1: It was a time. It really was a time. And
- 23:17Speaker 1: I was a different person at the time. And over
- 23:20Speaker 1: these last few, I've changed a lot. So I feel good.
- 23:23Speaker 1: I'm blasphemous.
- 23:26Speaker 3: Go ahead.
- 23:26Speaker 1: Go ahead. Because usually it's... Did I pray with them afterwards? Absolutely.
- 23:32Speaker 1: Wipe your mouth. People usually find the Lord in a
- 23:40Speaker 1: dark time.
- 23:41Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 23:41Speaker 1: Right.
- 23:41Speaker 4: So were you in the throes of an orgy and
- 23:48Speaker 4: you were like, you know what?
- 23:50Speaker 1: I shouldn't be doing this. It was, it was, I
- 23:52Speaker 1: busted it first. It was, it was like, it was afterwards, man.
- 23:58Speaker 1: It was, it was, dude, I gotta stop doing this.
- 24:02Speaker 1: When I was in that act and I had those episodes, man,
- 24:05Speaker 1: it was like there was something else that was controlling me.
- 24:07Speaker 1: My body got bigger. My freaking voice got deeper. It was,
- 24:11Speaker 1: I would, I would be laughing as I was um
- 24:15Speaker 1: with these women and they were climaxing back to back
- 24:18Speaker 1: it was funny to me you ain't gotta brag no
- 24:20Speaker 1: i'm not i'm not bragging though but i'm just saying
- 24:22Speaker 1: i'm not talking about you know i.
- 24:23Speaker 4: Had all these women orgasming all over the place no
- 24:26Speaker 4: it's what i'm not listen man listen this is the
- 24:29Speaker 4: tip listen.
- 24:30Speaker 1: Get me behind me satan my shit just got bigger
- 24:34Speaker 1: hey hey you know the incredible hawk incredible hawk that's
- 24:38Speaker 1: why i was like the incredible.
- 24:40Speaker 4: Were you partying like with substances as well?
- 24:43Speaker 1: Weed. Just weed. Weed and alcohol. I didn't do nothing.
- 24:46Speaker 1: I got mollied one time and I never would do
- 24:49Speaker 1: that again. And it didn't even work. I was just,
- 24:51Speaker 1: it was a lot of kissing. Molly whopped, huh? Yeah,
- 24:53Speaker 1: so was, boy. It was molly whopped. This is not,
- 24:56Speaker 1: this is not me today. I'm, I am, I'm in
- 24:59Speaker 1: a different place, man. And I'm, glad that the Lord
- 25:02Speaker 1: came and intervened, bro, because I literally heard a voice say,
- 25:05Speaker 1: get out of the room, because the room had all
- 25:07Speaker 1: of this energy in it. Demonic? It was, what, a
- 25:10Speaker 1: demonic voice that I heard? No, I'm just saying, did
- 25:12Speaker 1: it feel just that? Oh, absolutely.
- 25:13Speaker 3: No, no, I'm just saying that energy, you just feel
- 25:15Speaker 3: like it's just all wrong.
- 25:16Speaker 1: It was, dude, it was so wrong, and I'm like, yo,
- 25:20Speaker 1: I come from a heavy Christian strict household, apostolic household,
- 25:27Speaker 1: so for me to be able to to take that
- 25:30Speaker 1: kid and go to Hollywood.
- 25:31Speaker 3: So what would you tell kids that follow you, that
- 25:35Speaker 3: admire you?
- 25:37Speaker 1: Stay off the internet. That's what I would say.
- 25:39Speaker 3: Yeah, but I mean, that goes down that path because,
- 25:41Speaker 3: I mean, you're not the first one.
- 25:43Speaker 1: You're not the only one.
- 25:43Speaker 3: Yeah, we're laughing and joking, but there's some seriousness to
- 25:47Speaker 3: this to where, again, you were able to realize and
- 25:50Speaker 3: recognize at a point that you were going off a
- 25:53Speaker 3: path that you didn't start on.
- 25:55Speaker 1: Yes, I will tell them this. God will give you
- 25:59Speaker 1: everything that you want, that's your heart's desire. But when
- 26:03Speaker 1: you get it, you are not going to like it
- 26:06Speaker 1: and it's not going to fulfill you.
- 26:07Speaker 5: So because it's not going to fulfill you, you might
- 26:11Speaker 5: as well not even do it anyway. Well, let's talk
- 26:13Speaker 5: about that. Let's talk about who you were pre-SNL.
- 26:16Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 26:16Speaker 1: Who is this apostolic kid now? What city are you from?
- 26:21Speaker 1: I'm from.
- 26:21Speaker 4: And then walk us all the way up until like
- 26:24Speaker 4: the Saturday Night Live audition.
- 26:25Speaker 1: All right. Okay. Well, I am from Chesapeake, Virginia. I'm
- 26:28Speaker 1: from the area called Greenbrier. If you know where Greenbrier is,
- 26:31Speaker 1: it's a major, major part of Chesapeake. I was a
- 26:35Speaker 1: theater kid. Drama. Did my first play at eight. First
- 26:41Speaker 1: leading role at nine. I didn't know the lines and
- 26:44Speaker 1: my teacher put me up anyway. It was good. That
- 26:47Speaker 1: he did that because another production I did when I
- 26:49Speaker 1: was 16 years old that the lead dropped out of
- 26:52Speaker 1: two weeks before we went for opening night. I got
- 26:58Speaker 1: that part. And that movie, that was called The Damn Yankees.
- 27:02Speaker 1: And I played Mr. Applegate in that. The play. The play.
- 27:05Speaker 5: And then that night, opening night, I kid you not,
- 27:10Speaker 5: I get off stage and I go in the lobby.
- 27:13Speaker 5: And that same teacher that put me up when I
- 27:15Speaker 5: was nine years old. and I didn't know the lines.
- 27:18Speaker 5: He said, I always knew you had it in you.
- 27:19Speaker 5: I was just trying to bring it out of you.
- 27:21Speaker 1: It was really, it was really special. He was the
- 27:22Speaker 1: same height though too. It was crazy. He was five
- 27:25Speaker 1: foot one. He was still five foot one. I was like, Oh,
- 27:28Speaker 1: Hey little nigga. Hey, how you doing brother? You know
- 27:32Speaker 1: what I'm saying? But it was, it was that moment.
- 27:35Speaker 1: It was a wraparound moment for me. Uh, I was
- 27:38Speaker 1: always in love with the stage. 16 years old. I
- 27:40Speaker 1: started doing comedy. So, um, you know, I did this
- 27:44Speaker 1: thing called the Virginia Idol talent search. where they have
- 27:47Speaker 1: like 300 different acts. There's singers, there's acrobats, there's all
- 27:52Speaker 1: types of stuff. Out of all of that, I got
- 27:54Speaker 1: fifth place out of it. Beat all the comedians. Kind
- 27:56Speaker 1: of like almost like America's Got Talent. Yeah, absolutely. It
- 27:59Speaker 1: was before that.
- 28:00Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah.
- 28:01Speaker 1: And, you know, then I just, I continued. 17, 18,
- 28:07Speaker 1: doing stand-up, Thorogood Comedy Club. That's shut down in Virginia now. Um,
- 28:14Speaker 1: cozies and, uh, uh, Newport news, Virginia. I went there
- 28:17Speaker 1: as well. And then I started going to the funny bone.
- 28:20Speaker 1: I was 18 and, um, freeze love, you know, freeze, right?
- 28:24Speaker 1: I love freeze. Freeze is my, that's my, that's my dog. Yeah, man. He,
- 28:29Speaker 1: he saw me when I was 19, uh, November 19.
- 28:34Speaker 1: And he said, yo, I've never seen anybody do impressions
- 28:38Speaker 1: like that. And to, you know, to be like funny
- 28:40Speaker 1: like that with it. He said, I'm going to introduce
- 28:42Speaker 1: you to Charlie Murphy. I thought he was BSing. But then.
- 28:45Speaker 1: I was his best friend. Yeah. And I was like,
- 28:48Speaker 1: wait a minute. This is the same brother from Malcolm
- 28:50Speaker 1: and Eddie. He did Hector. He was such a. So
- 28:53Speaker 1: we kept in contact that February of 2007. Charlie Murphy
- 28:58Speaker 1: came to the Funny Bone. and I did the Cam'ron
- 29:02Speaker 1: and Dipset bit. All comedians have a killer bit when
- 29:05Speaker 1: they first start. You might not have figured it out,
- 29:07Speaker 1: like Chris Tucker had five minutes when he first started,
- 29:10Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying? A hot five minutes. I
- 29:11Speaker 1: had a hot bit. It was called, it was the
- 29:14Speaker 1: Cam'ron and Dipset joint where I had them all nursery rhyming.
- 29:18Speaker 1: charlie murphy saw that wait wait we gotta hear it
- 29:21Speaker 1: i mean i need a beat and all that he's
- 29:22Speaker 1: like yo jack and jill went up the hill to

- 30:37Speaker 5: up to the green room man He said yo man Yo.
- 30:41Speaker 1: That Ken Ronda dips that shit, man. I was on
- 30:43Speaker 1: my back, nigga, laughing like a turtle, nigga. You killed
- 30:46Speaker 1: them niggas, man. Straight up killed them niggas, man. Yo,
- 30:50Speaker 1: I'm going to take you on the road with me, youngie.
- 30:52Speaker 1: You ready? You sat it? I was like, yeah, go
- 30:56Speaker 1: on the road with Charlie Murphy. So at 19, now
- 30:58Speaker 1: I'm going on the road with Charlie Murphy for two years.
- 31:01Speaker 1: Is this pre-Dave Chappelle show? No, this is after it.
- 31:06Speaker 1: So he's popular. He's popping, bro. Went on the road
- 31:09Speaker 1: with him for three years. Come that, what was it?
- 31:14Speaker 1: It was 09? Well, you say 07, 08, and 09.
- 31:17Speaker 1: I was touring with him. It stopped in 09. Me
- 31:20Speaker 1: and Shayna, my manager- my sister slash manager we decided
- 31:25Speaker 1: to go yep shout out we decided to go on
- 31:26Speaker 1: the road for ourselves do the chitlin circuit you go
- 31:29Speaker 1: to New York you go to New Jersey your chitlin
- 31:31Speaker 1: circuit you know what it is all the black clubs
- 31:34Speaker 1: yeah all the black clubs $ 75 talent runs all of
- 31:35Speaker 1: them by the way absolutely it's just comedy I don't
- 31:39Speaker 1: know if that's a good talent. That was all right.
- 31:42Speaker 1: I don't do talent, but I do the rooms. You know,
- 31:46Speaker 1: you make $ 75, $ 100 a spot. So, you know, I'm
- 31:50Speaker 1: doing like six different shows a night.
- 31:53Speaker 5: So we bringing in money. Mind you, she didn't even
- 31:55Speaker 5: have any money. I didn't have any money. She sold
- 31:59Speaker 5: her jewelry so we could have gas money to get
- 32:01Speaker 5: up and do the chipmunk circuit.
- 32:03Speaker 2: Yep.
- 32:03Speaker 1: So we do that. We do that a couple of times.
- 32:06Speaker 1: I do a showcase at Caroline's on Broadway. Shout out
- 32:09Speaker 1: to Caroline's on Broadway. No longer running. I was blown away.
- 32:13Speaker 1: I was there not too long ago. I didn't know
- 32:14Speaker 1: it was gone. Yeah, man. I was sad. I was
- 32:16Speaker 1: the first club that Charlie Murphy ever took me to,
- 32:20Speaker 1: which is crazy that that's where I got my agent
- 32:24Speaker 1: when I went on tour for myself with my sister.
- 32:28Speaker 1: And he got me on SNL. He got me on SNL.
- 32:32Speaker 1: Who got you on SNL? Josh Pearl. Josh Pearl, your agent. Okay,
- 32:35Speaker 1: got you.
- 32:36Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 32:36Speaker 1: So we put together a tape. You know, in 2009,
- 32:41Speaker 1: they were going to do a mid-season replacement because I
- 32:43Speaker 1: know somebody messed up on the show. They were going
- 32:45Speaker 1: to replace him. They decided to let them finish out
- 32:47Speaker 1: the year. Came the next year, they told me to
- 32:49Speaker 1: send another tape in. I got called in for an audition.
- 32:53Speaker 1: And then in August 2010, after three weeks... Laura Michaels
- 32:59Speaker 1: called me up and he said, you said, yeah, yeah,
- 33:02Speaker 1: you're ready to go. We think you're going to be
- 33:04Speaker 1: a great asset to the show. And this should be
- 33:06Speaker 1: a very exciting call. It's time for you to move
- 33:09Speaker 1: to New York. You said, are you, are you really excited?
- 33:11Speaker 1: And I'm like, I was like, yeah, man, I'm excited.
- 33:14Speaker 1: You know, I get up. I say, Hey mom, Hey pop,
- 33:17Speaker 1: y'all can walk around naked again. Now, what was you saying? Now,
- 33:20Speaker 1: what is the salary? Like how much we paying? You
- 33:22Speaker 1: know what I mean? So, and then it started, it
- 33:24Speaker 1: was right there. And I stayed on that show for
- 33:27Speaker 1: six years. Got off in 2016. Now, was the whole
- 33:30Speaker 1: time great? I mean, it's like a job, man. It
- 33:34Speaker 1: has its ups and downs. You know what I mean?
- 33:37Speaker 1: I was very frustrated because I would write sketches. That's
- 33:41Speaker 1: the worst thing I've ever heard. I've always heard. I
- 33:43Speaker 1: always wrote. Get your own shit on.
- 33:45Speaker 5: Yep.
- 33:45Speaker 1: But I would get it pulled. I would write three
- 33:48Speaker 1: sketches a week, and they would pull them. They didn't
- 33:50Speaker 1: happen all the time. I'm not going to say who
- 33:53Speaker 1: did it. Tell them the definition of pull them. Pulling means...
- 33:56Speaker 1: you know, at read through, there's a bundle of scripts
- 33:59Speaker 1: that get picked. If you get pulled, that means somebody
- 34:03Speaker 1: just took your work and just, there it goes. They
- 34:05Speaker 1: just pulled it out of the stack and you're not
- 34:07Speaker 1: able to read your work. So you're sitting there looking
- 34:10Speaker 1: like you're not doing anything, which was not the case
- 34:13Speaker 1: for me. I was working very hard, but, you know,
- 34:16Speaker 1: there was a lot of opposition, a lot of things
- 34:19Speaker 1: I had to go through. And, you know, I wish
- 34:22Speaker 1: now I was on SNL because, you know, my, my
- 34:26Speaker 1: comedic mind has matured so much.
- 34:29Speaker 3: Why can't you still go back to SNL?
- 34:31Speaker 1: What do you mean?
- 34:32Speaker 5: I mean, yeah, I mean, it ain't, dang, that can't
- 34:34Speaker 5: just be, hey, man, put me on the show. I gotta,
- 34:36Speaker 5: you know, I can host if I have a project
- 34:39Speaker 5: coming out or something. So, I mean, that's not dead.
- 34:42Speaker 5: It's just, you know, I'm not a cast member anymore,
- 34:44Speaker 5: you know? So, I remember when they were going to
- 34:47Speaker 5: do Kanye back in 2018, Chris Rhett was on the
- 34:50Speaker 5: show at the time and I was in London.
- 34:52Speaker 1: They called me up to do it, but I couldn't.
- 34:54Speaker 1: I was in London. So then he ended up doing
- 34:56Speaker 1: it and he ended up being the Kanye impressionist. How
- 34:59Speaker 1: would you have done it? I would have been like,
- 35:01Speaker 1: you know what, bro?
- 35:02Speaker 5: It's like, it's so crazy that, you know, everybody always,
- 35:06Speaker 5: you know, they call me crazy. But, you know, how
- 35:10Speaker 5: can I be crazy, bro? When, you know, Adidas gave
- 35:15Speaker 5: me a billion dollar contract, bro. They don't do that
- 35:19Speaker 5: to people who are stupid.
- 35:21Speaker 1: Who are like, you know, lack, you know, who are nonsensical.
- 35:24Speaker 1: They don't do that.
- 35:24Speaker 5: So, you know, when it comes to, you know, me
- 35:27Speaker 5: and making decisions, yeah, I blew billions, but I also
- 35:31Speaker 5: made billions as well. And I wiped the porn star, bro,
- 35:35Speaker 5: and had a beautiful family. It's like I took Mary
- 35:39Speaker 5: Magdalene and turned her into an actual normal person, you know?
- 35:44Speaker 1: Oh my God.
- 35:46Speaker 5: Like, that's what it is, bro. And, you know, when
- 35:48Speaker 5: it comes down to, you know, SNL, and, you know,
- 35:51Speaker 5: I'm happy for them. I'm glad they did what they did. But,
- 35:53Speaker 5: you know, if they had me on the show, you know,
- 35:55Speaker 5: that would have been a little different.
- 35:56Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying? So, there we go. You
- 35:59Speaker 1: see what I'm talking about? There it is.
- 36:01Speaker 5: Yo!
- 36:02Speaker 1: Yeah! And guess what? Nobody in our place. Nobody. Nah,
- 36:06Speaker 1: F that. You want to pop my stuff? Nobody is.
- 36:09Speaker 5: The difference between me and everybody else is y'all can
- 36:14Speaker 5: do impressions.
- 36:15Speaker 1: Y'all can do impressions. I can do the impressions you
- 36:18Speaker 1: do and more, but y'all can't do everybody I do.
- 36:22Speaker 1: But I can do everybody y'all do. At least good.
- 36:26Speaker 1: If it ain't like up here, it's right here. You
- 36:29Speaker 1: know what I'm saying? You're correct. I'm just saying. What?
- 36:33Speaker 1: I'm just saying.
- 36:37Speaker 5: I mean, if we want to be perfectly clear, if
- 36:40Speaker 5: we want to be perfectly clear and put it out
- 36:42Speaker 5: there like that, I'm not popping off anything.
- 36:44Speaker 1: I'm telling you the truth. I'm just telling you the truth.
- 36:46Speaker 1: I'm telling you exactly how I feel, what's going on. Hey, T.O. knows,
- 36:50Speaker 1: and so does Chris.
- 36:51Speaker 5: When it comes down to embodying an impersonation.
- 36:55Speaker 1: There's nobody, there's nobody like him. It's like God just said, hey,
- 36:59Speaker 1: just like Kenan is to sketch, they say Kenan is
- 37:01Speaker 1: good for sketch. That's the same thing for me when
- 37:04Speaker 1: it comes down to impersonations. And that's blasphemous. Thank you.
- 37:08Speaker 1: There we go. Do me. It's just, I love doing
- 37:12Speaker 1: Chris because Chris is just so nonchalant with his delivery.
- 37:16Speaker 1: He doesn't care. He's like, first of all, the only
- 37:22Speaker 1: thing that I need is two tuna sandwiches and two
- 37:26Speaker 1: naked hookers and I'll be good. And this was years
- 37:29Speaker 1: ago before I was married. But... I'm closing my eyes listening.
- 37:35Speaker 1: Does it sound like me?
- 37:37Speaker 5: Bro.
- 37:37Speaker 1: It seems like you give me a New York accent though.
- 37:39Speaker 4: Yeah, I give you a New York accent.
- 37:40Speaker 1: How do I give you a New York accent? Now
- 37:41Speaker 1: that sounds like me right there. Okay, all right. It's
- 37:43Speaker 1: like when you talk, I have to impersonate you as
- 37:46Speaker 1: you're talking. Oh my God, that's spooky. Yeah, that's spooky.
- 37:53Speaker 1: I mean, say, and listen, listen, and somebody else who
- 37:56Speaker 1: was great and I think people need to give him
- 37:58Speaker 1: more flowers is Jamie Foxx. They need to give him
- 38:01Speaker 1: more flowers. And not only just being a brilliant impressionist,
- 38:07Speaker 1: Jamie Foxx is good at everything. Everything, yes. I call
- 38:11Speaker 1: him Sammy Davis Sophomore. That's hilarious, nigga. He's like a mutant.
- 38:18Speaker 3: A chameleon of everything.
- 38:22Speaker 1: He can play basketball. He can play football.
- 38:24Speaker 5: I ain't never seen him golf, but I'm sure he
- 38:27Speaker 5: can do that, too.
- 38:28Speaker 1: He can golf. Jamie is so talented, and Ray is
- 38:33Speaker 1: one of the best. Forget that. Ray is the best
- 38:36Speaker 1: biopic ever. Nothing close. Nothing close.
- 38:39Speaker 4: Second to me is.
- 38:41Speaker 1: Denzel? Oh, Malcolm X. Malcolm X. What were you about
- 38:44Speaker 1: to say? Shit. The Queen one. Which one was Queen?
- 38:49Speaker 7: Queen.
- 38:50Speaker 1: Oh, Bohemian Rhapsody. Bohemian Rhapsody. Absolutely. Absolutely. But still. But still.
- 38:57Speaker 1: Malcolm X. Malcolm X, great movie.
- 39:00Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 39:00Speaker 1: But it wasn't... No, shit. Malcolm X was great. I
- 39:04Speaker 1: think they won and won. Yeah. But I do believe-
- 39:08Speaker 1: It's a great movie.
- 39:08Speaker 4: But in terms of embodying somebody, him becoming Ray was spooky.
- 39:13Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 39:14Speaker 1: The way that he just totally submerged himself into the character.
- 39:19Speaker 1: And it was like, he didn't look like him at first,
- 39:22Speaker 1: but the more you just watched it. I'll give a
- 39:25Speaker 1: good example. You've seen a Michael biopic. Yes. Jafar Jackson. Yo,
- 39:31Speaker 1: when he was in the hospital. And he had just
- 39:36Speaker 1: had the head injury. And he was burnt. His eyes
- 39:39Speaker 1: looked just like Mike. His eyes, everything up in here.
- 39:44Speaker 1: I said, yo, this dude, and I'm watching. Yo, I'm like,
- 39:49Speaker 1: this nigga was spot on. And he brought him back
- 39:52Speaker 1: to life in a way that I say, but Ray
- 39:56Speaker 1: is still better. Ray is still better. But I would
- 39:59Speaker 1: say it's up there. I would say the biopic is
- 40:02Speaker 1: up there. Coleman Domingo playing Joe Jackson. It's great. Can
- 40:06Speaker 1: you do that?
- 40:07Speaker 3: Man, I'm listening at you.
- 40:09Speaker 1: Wait, he's doing Coleman. Okay. No, it's more like this. Michael.
- 40:13Speaker 1: Holy shit. Michael, I'm going to tell him that you're
- 40:18Speaker 1: going to do the tour. I told you what to think.
- 40:20Speaker 1: He's like, ah. He's just sitting there looking. Coleman does
- 40:25Speaker 1: this thing where his mouth always stays open. It's like
- 40:28Speaker 1: a fly is going there. A bee flying his mouth,
- 40:31Speaker 1: stinging his tongue or something. But he always does that. Anyway, sorry,
- 40:35Speaker 1: go ahead. It's not fully developed yet.
- 40:37Speaker 3: No, I mean, when you mentioned Jamie, and it's just
- 40:42Speaker 3: obviously something about Jamie that enables him to just tap
- 40:46Speaker 3: into whatever it is to become whatever it is. With
- 40:50Speaker 3: you and your impressions, what is it... And there's others.
- 40:54Speaker 3: Maybe there's something unique about you. We just talked about it,
- 40:57Speaker 3: how I basically made you say, like, they're not you.
- 41:01Speaker 1: They're not like us.
- 41:03Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 41:03Speaker 1: What do you study?
- 41:05Speaker 3: How do you prepare if you're going into something? Like,
- 41:08Speaker 3: you're doing stuff right now just off the cusp.
- 41:10Speaker 1: Right.
- 41:11Speaker 3: You had time to prepare for like a movie or whatever.
- 41:15Speaker 2: Oh, yeah.
- 41:15Speaker 3: What is it that you hone in on?
- 41:18Speaker 1: I would watch a lot of the interviews and see
- 41:21Speaker 1: their facial tics. That's the first thing I would look at.
- 41:25Speaker 1: The second thing that I would do, speech patterns, certain
- 41:29Speaker 1: speech patterns. And I would try to listen to their
- 41:32Speaker 1: voice and see if there was anybody close in my
- 41:34Speaker 1: wheelhouse that I already do that's like them. And what
- 41:38Speaker 1: octave do I need to switch my voice to exactly
- 41:40Speaker 1: and turn into it? Third thing was probably the first thing.
- 41:43Speaker 1: My face.
- 41:44Speaker 3: When you say change octave, that's almost like you being
- 41:47Speaker 3: a singer too at the same time.
- 41:49Speaker 1: Like there are some similarities, right? Yeah. I'll give you
- 41:51Speaker 1: an example. Christopher Walken and Jay-Z, very similar. Very similar.
- 41:57Speaker 5: They are?
- 41:57Speaker 1: Very similar.
- 41:58Speaker 5: Let me show you. I, I need $ 20. Yeah, I
- 42:05Speaker 5: need $ 20.
- 42:06Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 42:07Speaker 1: So it's, it's, it's like, it's, it's like the, it's
- 42:11Speaker 1: not the same. It's a different octave. It's like the same.
- 42:14Speaker 1: It's like almost the same voice. It's just a, it's a,
- 42:16Speaker 1: a slightly different key. Yeah. Different keys like that. Who
- 42:20Speaker 1: else is similar like that? Anthony Mackie and Will Smith. Absolutely.
- 42:25Speaker 1: You make daddy a sandwich. And then Will Smith, you
- 42:30Speaker 1: make daddy a sandwich. You know, like, cause sandwiches. Yeah,
- 42:35Speaker 1: cause sandwiches. Sandwiches are like key and essential, right? Like
- 42:42Speaker 1: you can never have enough sandwiches. That's what I was
- 42:48Speaker 1: trying to say. You can never have enough sandwiches. Never
- 42:52Speaker 1: have enough. You know, like, and I've seen sandwiches being
- 42:57Speaker 1: created and You know, like in my living room, on
- 43:02Speaker 1: the couch, you know. Yeah, like people were creating human
- 43:08Speaker 1: sandwiches in my house. And it was like wild and
- 43:12Speaker 1: crazy because I didn't even get a chance to get
- 43:16Speaker 1: tagged into the action. And yeah, that's why I lost
- 43:21Speaker 1: it on the stage. And it was like a whole
- 43:23Speaker 1: bunch of built up, you know, anger, you know, frustration.
- 43:27Speaker 1: And finally, finally, you know, I had, like, the levy
- 43:33Speaker 1: had broke. And, you know, I got to apologize to, like,
- 43:37Speaker 1: people like you, T.O., and to Chris. Because, yeah, this Chris,
- 43:43Speaker 1: you know, the other one, I said, sorry, already. You know,
- 43:46Speaker 1: he didn't. It's like, man, whatever, man.
- 43:49Speaker 5: Like, it's cool, but... Like, it's done. You smacked me
- 43:53Speaker 5: in front of the public. And, like, now I'm just, like,
- 43:57Speaker 5: I'm going to sue. And you got it. I don't
- 44:01Speaker 5: got it. You got it.
- 44:03Speaker 1: Right? Zootopia. Wow.
- 44:06Speaker 3: It's over.
- 44:07Speaker 1: All the money. I had a divorce. Duh. Anyway. Yeah, man. Bro,
- 44:13Speaker 1: you're nothing short of. Oh, thank you, my brother. Oh,
- 44:19Speaker 1: thank you. Thank you so much, T.O. Ridiculous. Why would
- 44:23Speaker 1: you say that? That's just totally off.
- 44:26Speaker 9: Why would you say something like that?
- 44:28Speaker 1: I love you. I love you. I love everyone. Everyone
- 44:31Speaker 1: needs to know. I've never heard nobody do like that. Hey,
- 44:34Speaker 1: like that. Hey, you people will. That's I mean, Mike,
- 44:38Speaker 1: that's I mean, that's a different. That's a different. That's
- 44:41Speaker 1: him talking.
- 44:42Speaker 4: People usually do the whisper right yeah.
- 44:45Speaker 9: But it's it's more than that it's definitely more than
- 44:48Speaker 9: that it's like you have to submerge yourself into the
- 44:51Speaker 9: character it's all about that having a good time i
- 44:56Speaker 9: had a great time bro.
- 44:58Speaker 3: What's oh boy what's on your bucket list because you
- 45:02Speaker 3: i mean oh man you've done you've done everything what
- 45:06Speaker 3: is it that you haven't done like what would be
- 45:09Speaker 3: your bucket list of something to do?
- 45:11Speaker 5: Man, I want to, I want to be a, I
- 45:13Speaker 5: want to be an action movie. I want to do
- 45:15Speaker 5: action movies, man. You know, I, I mean my body,
- 45:17Speaker 5: I've gotten my body.
- 45:18Speaker 1: You too?
- 45:19Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 45:19Speaker 1: You too. You want to do it? I want to
- 45:20Speaker 1: do it, bro.
- 45:21Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 45:21Speaker 1: Cause even, I was doing two handed. God dang it.
- 45:23Speaker 1: You want to do what?
- 45:24Speaker 3: I've had people even tell me like, yo, you would
- 45:26Speaker 3: be good for like Marvel or whatever. Just cause like
- 45:28Speaker 3: my business is this and that and the other. Like
- 45:30Speaker 3: I would love to do Marvel.
- 45:32Speaker 1: Who's it? Stan Lee.
- 45:32Speaker 4: It could be Frozone. It could be Frozone.
- 45:36Speaker 1: I'd be whoever. Frozone. You love Spider-Man. I love Spider-Man.
- 45:41Speaker 4: You love Spider-Man too.
- 45:44Speaker 1: I love Spider-Man. Listen, listen. Hey, Chris can write it.
- 45:50Speaker 1: We can all work together.
- 45:51Speaker 5: Jesus.
- 45:51Speaker 1: See what I'm talking about? Look at what this. We
- 45:53Speaker 1: can do it. Trust me. I've always. I love Marvel.
- 45:58Speaker 1: I love. Really? Yeah, bro. I love it. I know
- 46:01Speaker 1: you love Spider-Man.
- 46:02Speaker 3: Yeah, watching Super Friends, growing up, the cartoon, watching all
- 46:06Speaker 3: the different characters.
- 46:07Speaker 1: Flash, Gordon. Dude, that's DC, right? Yeah, that's it. Flash Gordon.
- 46:12Speaker 4: He does like all of that.
- 46:13Speaker 1: Yeah, all that. All that. Yeah. I'm the same way, though.
- 46:16Speaker 1: It's like whatever, whether it's DZ. DZ.
- 46:19Speaker 2: DZ.
- 46:19Speaker 1: Discovery Zone. Whether it's DC or whether it's Marvel. Marvel, yeah.
- 46:23Speaker 1: It's like I don't care. I do like the tone
- 46:26Speaker 1: of DC because I feel like it's a bit darker. Like,
- 46:29Speaker 1: I didn't... Look, okay. I might get, I'm not going
- 46:32Speaker 1: to get no criticism for this because it's an opinion,
- 46:35Speaker 1: but I liked when Zack Snyder had the universe.
- 46:38Speaker 5: It was darker, but DC has been dark. When we
- 46:41Speaker 5: were younger, Batman was almost horrific. He was saving people,
- 46:46Speaker 5: but he was.
- 46:47Speaker 1: The lightning would strike and you would see him.
- 46:51Speaker 5: The cartoon was scary. So, I think that tone, that's
- 46:55Speaker 5: what DC's supposed to be. It's not supposed to be fun, jokey, yucky, yucky, yuck, yuck, Marvel.
- 47:00Speaker 5: It's not supposed to be like that. That's what makes
- 47:02Speaker 5: it distinct.
- 47:03Speaker 4: Yeah, those first Batmans is probably what brought it to
- 47:05Speaker 4: the dark side.
- 47:06Speaker 1: Yeah, absolutely. I would say with Michael Keaton, with Jack Nicholson. Yes,
- 47:12Speaker 1: Arnold and... Danny DeVito and all of them. It was good.
- 47:17Speaker 1: That's how it's supposed to be. It was dark. Don't
- 47:19Speaker 1: try to lighten it up. Right. It's black. Leave it black.
- 47:22Speaker 1: He's a bat.
- 47:23Speaker 5: He's a freaking bat. He's not a white bat like
- 47:26Speaker 5: Ace Ventura. He's a black bat. You know what I'm saying?
- 47:29Speaker 5: Remember the scene in Ace Ventura where he had the white...
- 47:31Speaker 5: He didn't want to touch it. He was running with
- 47:33Speaker 5: his hands up like this.
- 47:34Speaker 1: Oh, man. Jim Carrey. Then he... Fell out of a
- 47:37Speaker 1: rhinoceros's booty hole. Remember that? It was the animatronic joint.
- 47:41Speaker 1: He fell out of it. Yeah, man. Jim Carrey and
- 47:44Speaker 1: Tommy Davidson in that movie. I got ADD like I
- 47:46Speaker 1: don't know what. Look, I'm just skipping, skipping, skipping.
- 47:48Speaker 3: I know, but I love it, though, man. I mean,
- 47:50Speaker 3: like you said, I'm glad you mentioned that. I've always
- 47:53Speaker 3: wanted to kind of like do something like an.
- 47:55Speaker 1: Action, Marvel, all those type of movies. Yeah. That's my
- 47:59Speaker 1: bucket list. That's what I want to do, man. Chris,
- 48:01Speaker 1: you'd be great for Ren and Stimpy. Which one? What, Stimpy?
- 48:07Speaker 1: Or Ren? Which one would he be? Just for that,
- 48:09Speaker 1: I'm not writing it. Come on, T.O. Don't mess up.
- 48:13Speaker 1: Louis Vuitton, man. All right, cool. Louis Vuitton, man. Wow.
- 48:18Speaker 1: Saving the world one bag at a time. Louis Vuitton, man.
- 48:21Speaker 1: Louis Vuitton, man. LV. Go yard bag. When you see
- 48:25Speaker 1: the LV, run.
- 48:28Speaker 3: Jay, our next segment is called, you know me, I
- 48:30Speaker 3: like to get my popcorn.
- 48:31Speaker 1: I love popcorn.
- 48:32Speaker 3: It's called Get Your Popcorn Ready.
- 48:34Speaker 1: Oh, let's go. There it is right there. Hey. Should I? Yeah.
- 48:37Speaker 1: Should I grab it? By all means. All right, cool.
- 48:39Speaker 1: Just don't eat it.
- 48:40Speaker 3: So we're going to give you a few questions that
- 48:42Speaker 3: you can answer. Give us a strong take, weak take,
- 48:46Speaker 3: whatever case it may be. We'll let our audience decide,
- 48:48Speaker 3: but they better get their popcorn ready. You want to
- 48:51Speaker 3: pop it off, Chris? No pun intended. No pun intended.
- 48:56Speaker 4: Who's a comedian you think deserves way more credit, and
- 49:00Speaker 4: what did you see them do that convinced you?
- 49:05Speaker 1: Um, is his name Kenny Hamilton? His name Kenny Hamilton. Uh,
- 49:10Speaker 1: he is in, he's in New York on the Chitlin circuit. He,
- 49:14Speaker 1: when I was in Harlem at, uh, Mocha's, he did
- 49:19Speaker 1: this bit of about peanuts and popcorn about the beggar
- 49:23Speaker 1: on the subway. And he said, he said, if you
- 49:25Speaker 1: be in the subway long enough, you see this guy
- 49:27Speaker 1: come up. Penis and popcorn, sure make your belly feel nice.
- 49:33Speaker 1: Put the money in the hat. Penis and popcorn. He
- 49:36Speaker 1: does this for 10 minutes. Everything brings it back. I
- 49:41Speaker 1: laughed every single time. Murdering. He's one of the funniest people.
- 49:46Speaker 1: And you know what? Hey, I got the opportunity. Freeze
- 49:49Speaker 1: Love does not get the amount of love that he
- 49:53Speaker 1: deserves here. And he's brilliantly funny. So funny. So funny.
- 49:58Speaker 1: Is he posting stuff? Is he doing stuff? I know
- 50:00Speaker 1: he did a special a couple of years ago, a
- 50:03Speaker 1: few years ago. But after that, I don't know. I mean,
- 50:07Speaker 1: he was, I don't know. I don't know what he's doing.
- 50:09Speaker 1: I know what he's doing.
- 50:10Speaker 5: What?
- 50:12Speaker 3: You're doing what you were doing, but you came back
- 50:14Speaker 3: to Christ.
- 50:14Speaker 1: Nah, he's married, man.
- 50:16Speaker 5: He's... He's married, man.
- 50:19Speaker 1: He's freezing. Oh, yeah, okay. Don't nobody... My bad, Freeze.
- 50:22Speaker 1: I didn't know. I don't think anybody would be that
- 50:24Speaker 1: diabolical if you come back from that. That's a different
- 50:28Speaker 1: Lord Jesus. Anyway. This is hard for me to ask.
- 50:32Speaker 1: Because I.
- 50:34Speaker 3: Can't foresee you bombing on anything. Has there ever been
- 50:38Speaker 3: a moment.
- 50:40Speaker 1: What is your worst bomb, if there is one? My
- 50:43Speaker 1: worst bomb? I think there was a total of three.
- 50:48Speaker 3: Okay, what went wrong, and how did you recover?
- 50:52Speaker 1: I just battle.
- 50:53Speaker 5: I'm also a battle rapper, too, so when the crowds
- 50:56Speaker 5: start coming at me, I'll just start hurling out stuff
- 50:59Speaker 5: real quick, and then I'll hurl enough stuff where they'll
- 51:02Speaker 5: shut up and not say anything, and that's exactly what happened.
- 51:04Speaker 1: I beat the crowd. I Bill Bird the crowd, like
- 51:07Speaker 1: he did in Philly. That was the greatest piece of...
- 51:09Speaker 1: He's like, oh, you got a freaking statue. It's not
- 51:13Speaker 1: even real. You're freaking, yeah.
- 51:16Speaker 5: 20.
- 51:16Speaker 1: What did he say? He said 10 minutes.
- 51:18Speaker 4: I had eight minutes left. I kept coming back to it.
- 51:21Speaker 4: This is the best piece of comedy ever. Bill Burr
- 51:23Speaker 4: was in Philadelphia bombing. They were booing him.
- 51:26Speaker 1: It went from boos to cheers. Nine minutes to a
- 51:29Speaker 1: standing ovation. Yep. Fuck you guys.
- 51:32Speaker 4: He's talking about, you have a statue of fucking Rocky Balboa.
- 51:35Speaker 1: Of Rocky Balboa.
- 51:36Speaker 4: And Joe Louis is, Joe Frazier is living in about
- 51:39Speaker 4: the fucking gym and y'all don't take care of him.
- 51:42Speaker 1: Six minutes left.
- 51:43Speaker 4: He shit it on their Phillies.
- 51:46Speaker 1: He shit it on the fucking 76ers, I think. So,
- 51:49Speaker 1: so I was at a, it was a step show
- 51:51Speaker 1: I was hosting when I was, was I 20 when
- 51:54Speaker 1: I did that? It was a step show. And I
- 51:57Speaker 1: had nothing but 15 minutes of material, but black people
- 52:00Speaker 1: take long to set up. So, so I ran out
- 52:04Speaker 1: of jokes and, um, while it was setting up, that's
- 52:07Speaker 1: what happened. I ran out of jokes, my 15 minutes.
- 52:10Speaker 1: Cause it was this two hour, two hour long step show.
- 52:14Speaker 1: And they had me in between and they were taking
- 52:16Speaker 1: forever to set up. And I was like, Oh, well,
- 52:20Speaker 1: I don't know. I don't know what else to do.
- 52:23Speaker 1: I don't know what else to say. You know, so
- 52:26Speaker 1: what y'all do? Boo. I said, oh, hell no. And
- 52:30Speaker 1: I just started hurling insults. I think I told the
- 52:32Speaker 1: big girl that she had stretch marks on her eyeballs
- 52:35Speaker 1: or something like that. It was it was it was
- 52:38Speaker 1: a lot. You know, I mean, her blood pressure is
- 52:40Speaker 1: in space. It was a lot of stuff I said. And,
- 52:43Speaker 1: you know, I finally got them back and then they
- 52:46Speaker 1: got quiet. Everybody just everybody just got quiet and they stopped.
- 52:50Speaker 1: They stopped hurling stuff. And then I ran out the
- 52:52Speaker 1: back door. I grabbed my check and I ran out
- 52:54Speaker 1: the back door, hopped right in the car, got away.
- 52:57Speaker 1: But that was the worst bomb. Elizabeth City at ECU,
- 53:00Speaker 1: Elizabeth City University, I think it was. The worst bomb.
- 53:04Speaker 1: There's been a couple of them, but it wasn't that bad.
- 53:07Speaker 1: I want to go back and answer one of those
- 53:10Speaker 1: questions again because it's somebody that I just thought about
- 53:12Speaker 1: popped in my head. and I talked to him about
- 53:14Speaker 1: a month ago. He's one of the funniest human beings alive.
- 53:17Speaker 1: Which comedian, so which comedian do I think deserves more
- 53:21Speaker 1: credit and doesn't get it? Comedian Rodman. Rodman, hilarious. The
- 53:29Speaker 1: most unique delivery ever. Nobody like him. Very imitated too.
- 53:33Speaker 1: If you watch a lot of comedians. Yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo. Yeah,
- 53:39Speaker 1: you know, I like to, when I ride on the plane,
- 53:42Speaker 1: I like to sit on the outside. or the road
- 53:44Speaker 1: because I feel like I run the road.
- 53:46Speaker 5: And, you know, one day there was a little Muslim man.
- 53:49Speaker 1: He came up. He said, I think I'm in the
- 53:51Speaker 1: window seat. I said, let me check your stuff because,
- 53:53Speaker 1: you know, I can't be, you know what I mean,
- 53:55Speaker 1: because of that, you know what I mean.
- 53:57Speaker 5: And you got to make sure when you go through
- 53:59Speaker 5: airport security that your clothes is clean because, you know,
- 54:02Speaker 5: they might randomly select you and you might be like,
- 54:05Speaker 5: this ain't a good day to check me.
- 54:06Speaker 4: You know what happened to Rodman to me? He won
- 54:12Speaker 4: Last Comic Standing. And his trajectory was with us.
- 54:19Speaker 1: Oh, he went. And then I think mainstream got him.
- 54:22Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 54:22Speaker 4: And now he's making a comfortable living wherever he's doing.
- 54:26Speaker 4: But I think the path to where he could have
- 54:29Speaker 4: been the superstardom, which is it's not too late.
- 54:32Speaker 1: I think.
- 54:35Speaker 4: If you would have said Rodman's name 10 years ago,
- 54:37Speaker 4: everybody would have been like, yeah, that motherfucker.
- 54:38Speaker 1: But now it's kind of like... Who? Yeah, who? Yeah.
- 54:41Speaker 1: He's so brilliant. He's so funny. I'm telling you, his
- 54:44Speaker 1: delivery is incomparable. Nobody delivers like Rodman. And he doesn't
- 54:50Speaker 1: get a lot of love, like you say. He doesn't
- 54:52Speaker 1: get a lot of love. Yeah, I think he's kind
- 54:53Speaker 1: of like.
- 54:54Speaker 4: He's making so much money over here, like over here
- 54:56Speaker 4: don't know him.
- 54:57Speaker 1: Yeah. I want to hear.
- 55:00Speaker 4: Richard Pryor and Cat Williams.
- 55:05Speaker 1: discuss the economy?
- 55:13Speaker 5: Well, first of all, the very, the fact that nobody
- 55:19Speaker 5: can even eat a salad right now because it's infected
- 55:24Speaker 5: with whatever Bill Gates decided to drop on it. That
- 55:27Speaker 5: is totally blasphemous in itself. And the fact that you
- 55:31Speaker 5: can't make an omelet for less than $ 60 only using
- 55:35Speaker 5: two eggs. Jesus is coming back, boo-boo, and that's exactly
- 55:40Speaker 5: what's happening. The Lord is about to return. And shoot,
- 55:44Speaker 5: he should return because, damn it, I'm tired of this
- 55:47Speaker 5: motherfucker because.
- 55:48Speaker 1: I ain't even gone to heaven yet. I said I
- 55:50Speaker 1: want to stay here, but I want to eat something,
- 55:53Speaker 1: and I am hungrier than a motherfucker. You know, it's
- 55:59Speaker 1: really insane, right? It's really insane that you can't even
- 56:04Speaker 1: eat brisket. You can't have brisket. You can't go to
- 56:08Speaker 1: the salad bar. What the fuck is we supposed to do?
- 56:12Speaker 1: Things are expensive. Niggas is getting snatched. I'm talking about
- 56:16Speaker 1: Spanish niggas. How would Barack Obama fix this economy? I
- 56:19Speaker 1: told you, motherfuckers. I told you.
- 56:22Speaker 8: I said, let me stay in there, but you don't
- 56:24Speaker 8: want to do it. You don't want to do it.
- 56:27Speaker 8: You wanted to get the son from the Teletubbies, which,
- 56:32Speaker 8: I mean, it's cool, but at the end of the day,
- 56:34Speaker 8: it's good to look at, but when it's making decisions,
- 56:38Speaker 8: you don't want a baby with a sun face making decisions.
- 56:41Speaker 1: They don't know what the hell they're doing. What does
- 56:43Speaker 1: Mike Tyson feel about that?
- 56:44Speaker 6: I don't know which one you want, Chris. I don't
- 56:45Speaker 6: know if you.
- 56:46Speaker 1: Want this one. I ain't never heard that one yet.
- 56:48Speaker 6: I don't know if you want this one, Chris, because,
- 56:50Speaker 6: you know, I go to the economy and I go
- 56:53Speaker 6: to the Whole Foods and I try to eat really
- 56:55Speaker 6: healthy and I try to get, you know, pineapples and things.
- 56:58Speaker 6: But then, you know, they do recalls, you know, so
- 57:02Speaker 6: I'm already messed up enough.
- 57:03Speaker 5: So I don't need polio. You know, I don't need
- 57:05Speaker 5: polio after I had some. After I had some fruits
- 57:09Speaker 5: from the Whole Foods. So, you know, it's ridiculous.
- 57:12Speaker 1: I prefer to grow my own stuff in my garden.
- 57:15Speaker 1: That's why I got chicken. Me and Cat Williams, we
- 57:18Speaker 1: got chicken. That's right.
- 57:19Speaker 5: We got farm animals.
- 57:22Speaker 1: We raising them just like Rick Rose.
- 57:24Speaker 5: Ricky Rose. I've got a whole bunch of livestock and oxen.
- 57:31Speaker 5: I love my oxen because my oxen are individually named.
- 57:35Speaker 5: I name them all names of things that you are
- 57:38Speaker 5: not able to afford. Louis Vuitton.
- 57:42Speaker 1: Chanel bag.
- 57:44Speaker 5: That's right. Diamonds are forever and so is my ranch.
- 57:47Speaker 5: So if you want to get some milk, I will
- 57:49Speaker 5: charge you about $ 10. I gave 50 cents of milk.
- 57:53Speaker 5: I did that because he is now filing for bankruptcy.
- 57:56Speaker 1: You know what I've never heard anybody do?
- 57:58Speaker 2: What?
- 57:59Speaker 1: Kendrick Lamar. Have you worked on Kendrick yet? His, as
- 58:05Speaker 1: far as him talking, I haven't mastered that yet. I
- 58:09Speaker 1: haven't mastered that yet. I mean, Drake is just bro.
- 58:13Speaker 1: Like Drake talks like this, bro. He's like, he's like
- 58:17Speaker 1: down here and you know, like, yeah, like he tried
- 58:20Speaker 1: to call me a pedophile, but you know, like it's
- 58:22Speaker 1: not true. Cause Crowdy, I was in bro. I was
- 58:25Speaker 1: in England. Like the age is 16 and up. Like
- 58:27Speaker 1: that's fine. Yeah, man.
- 58:31Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 58:32Speaker 1: Do you know a friend of ours? Who? Michael Strahan.
- 58:35Speaker 1: Michael Strahan. Okay. Wait, why'd you have to do me
- 58:39Speaker 1: to do him? No, I got it. Cause I was,
- 58:42Speaker 1: I was just getting into the character. That's, you know,
- 58:44Speaker 1: sometimes I'm just like a real, I'm just really weird
- 58:47Speaker 1: with the way that I go into things. So, Does
- 58:50Speaker 1: that sound like me? I think it does.
- 58:52Speaker 4: She's laughing.
- 58:53Speaker 1: She's laughing. She's smiling. You shouldn't have to smile. She's
- 58:57Speaker 1: Gen Z. They don't smile. Why? Are you Gen Z?
- 59:00Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 59:01Speaker 1: I knew it. I could tell.
- 59:03Speaker 2: Anyway.
- 59:05Speaker 1: Will.
- 59:08Speaker 5: Will Crith. want to come here and have me some
- 59:11Speaker 5: bacon and eggs. If I get a bacon and egg, fam,
- 59:14Speaker 5: that would be totally cool. And everything that you have
- 59:17Speaker 5: done has been, it's like Shannon Sharp, but lighter. It's
- 59:21Speaker 5: like Shannon light.
- 59:22Speaker 1: It's like everything that you have done, Chris, has blown me,
- 59:27Speaker 1: has blown me away. Can you do T.O.
- 59:29Speaker 3: Yet?
- 59:31Speaker 1: Uh, damn. Not yet, not yet, not yet. Own your homework.
- 59:35Speaker 1: I haven't tried it, I haven't tried it.
- 59:37Speaker 3: Yeah, that'd be your homework. You come back and do me.
- 59:40Speaker 1: I can do, I know I can get it. Just
- 59:43Speaker 1: talk about yourself. Just do. You funny.
- 59:50Speaker 4: Ladies and gentlemen, where can we find Jay Pharoah?
- 59:55Speaker 1: All right, at Jay Pharoah. That's on the Instagram. Jay
- 59:58Speaker 1: Pharoah Real, that's on Facebook. I think on TikTok, I
- 1:00:04Speaker 1: don't go up there. I think it's at Jay Pharoah
- 1:00:07Speaker 1: Real on TikTok as well.
- 1:00:08Speaker 3: Real like real, R-E-A-L or real?
- 1:00:11Speaker 1: R-E-A-L. Okay. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Kevin had started that. You know,
- 1:00:15Speaker 1: he was.
- 1:00:16Speaker 5: He was like, listen, listen, here's the thing. Everybody's got
- 1:00:20Speaker 5: to be able to remember you. That's what it's got
- 1:00:22Speaker 5: to be. People are always going to remember me. That's
- 1:00:25Speaker 5: why I always say real. Because there's so many people
- 1:00:28Speaker 5: who are trying to create fake pages. But I don't
- 1:00:31Speaker 5: knock the fake pages. Because when they put stuff up there,
- 1:00:33Speaker 5: they're pushing your brand. That's what they're doing.
- 1:00:35Speaker 1: They're pushing your brand, man. You know what I'm saying?
- 1:00:38Speaker 1: All day, Chris. Listen, swear to God. I love the fact.
- 1:00:42Speaker 1: I love the fact.
- 1:00:44Speaker 5: That you were there and you've helped so many black
- 1:00:47Speaker 5: young comics just with everything, whether it comes to punchlines
- 1:00:52Speaker 5: or whether it comes to advice or not messing with
- 1:00:54Speaker 5: a dirty hoe. You're always there. That's what I like
- 1:00:58Speaker 5: about him. He's always there to help people.
- 1:01:01Speaker 4: Listen, listen, listen, listen.
- 1:01:04Speaker 1: You help a lot of niggas. That's what I love. Okay.
- 1:01:06Speaker 3: So man, just tell us, I mean, you're always giving back.
- 1:01:10Speaker 3: Tell us a little about the, Ferrell Family Foundation.
- 1:01:15Speaker 1: Okay. So when I was in high school, theater kid,
- 1:01:20Speaker 1: got myself together at the end of my tenure and
- 1:01:23Speaker 1: ended up graduating with honors. But, you know, I wasn't
- 1:01:27Speaker 1: like a very scholarly student at first. I had the ability,
- 1:01:31Speaker 1: but I wasn't like that. I was interested in the arts.
- 1:01:34Speaker 1: So when I graduated, I said, I want to give
- 1:01:38Speaker 1: back some way. I do want to give back. So
- 1:01:42Speaker 1: me and my family came together with this idea to
- 1:01:46Speaker 1: give scholarships to people who want to focus their studies
- 1:01:50Speaker 1: on the arts and graduate. You don't necessarily have to
- 1:01:52Speaker 1: have a three, five or whatever. I'm not looking at that.
- 1:01:55Speaker 1: I'm looking at the authenticity of whoever is writing this essay.
- 1:01:59Speaker 1: I'm looking at, um, I'm looking at what you really
- 1:02:02Speaker 1: want to do. Are you somebody who really wants to
- 1:02:06Speaker 1: pursue it relentlessly and make it and be kind of
- 1:02:10Speaker 1: like a Jay Pharoah or a Timberland or a Missy
- 1:02:13Speaker 1: Elliott or a Pharrell or a Pusha T or a
- 1:02:16Speaker 1: Malice or any of those guys. A go-getter. A go-getter.
- 1:02:20Speaker 1: But somebody who wants to be in entertainment and wants
- 1:02:24Speaker 1: to focus on that and be in the arts. So
- 1:02:27Speaker 1: we give away... started giving away one scholarship to, uh,
- 1:02:33Speaker 1: a lucky student in my high school. Now we have
- 1:02:37Speaker 1: expanded it to all Chesapeake public schools and not only
- 1:02:42Speaker 1: Chesapeake public schools, but now the 757 area in general.
- 1:02:46Speaker 1: So we give away, now we give away three scholarships, uh,
- 1:02:50Speaker 1: $ 5, 000 to, um, the winners and we follow up with them. We, we,
- 1:02:56Speaker 1: we follow your journey. And, um, you know, I've had,
- 1:03:00Speaker 1: I've had, we've had a lot of, of our kids
- 1:03:03Speaker 1: have success. Uh, Kamari Reese. Um, he was a videographer.
- 1:03:07Speaker 1: Now he works for, uh, ESPN in Connecticut. You know,
- 1:03:11Speaker 1: there was another young lady who, uh, I think she
- 1:03:14Speaker 1: got her, she got her first role in a movie. Um, that,
- 1:03:17Speaker 1: that touched me. So many kids that the name, I
- 1:03:19Speaker 1: can't get the name right now, but, uh, Um, our
- 1:03:23Speaker 1: goal and our vision is to help everybody across the
- 1:03:26Speaker 1: board who really wants to focus themselves on the arts
- 1:03:30Speaker 1: and people who are looked over, you know, every time
- 1:03:33Speaker 1: there's diamonds everywhere, but you're just not looking for them
- 1:03:36Speaker 1: and you might look over them because you're looking this way.
- 1:03:39Speaker 5: We're not studied. We're not focused in math. You're not
- 1:03:41Speaker 5: focused in science. You're not focused in, um, history or language.
- 1:03:46Speaker 1: Are you, you're focused in, in performing, you're focused in cinematography,
- 1:03:50Speaker 1: you're focused in all of these different genres of art.
- 1:03:58Speaker 1: That's what we wanna do. So we've successfully done that.
- 1:04:01Speaker 1: And we have a gala on the 26th, the Fall Ball,
- 1:04:04Speaker 1: Teddy Rowley is speaking, which is a really comeback moment
- 1:04:07Speaker 1: for me because my first talent competition, Teddy Rowley was there.
- 1:04:11Speaker 1: And yeah, he told me, he was like, wow. Um,
- 1:04:18Speaker 1: I don't know if the judges are supposed to laugh,
- 1:04:20Speaker 1: but you definitely had me. Um, wow.
- 1:04:25Speaker 5: Those impersonations spot on. Just, um, just give me two weeks,
- 1:04:30Speaker 5: just give me two weeks and we'll talk after the show.
- 1:04:32Speaker 5: I went up to him two weeks. I followed up
- 1:04:36Speaker 5: two weeks after didn't hear nothing. Didn't hear nothing, but
- 1:04:39Speaker 5: went to the, went to studio, everything. Things were changing.
- 1:04:44Speaker 5: Things were changing. But forget all of that. He is speaking.
- 1:04:48Speaker 5: He's coming back.

- 1:05:00Speaker 1: my drama teacher, Miss Jeanette Shuler. She's one of the
- 1:05:03Speaker 1: reasons that I am here today. She gave me a
- 1:05:06Speaker 1: chance because she saw the talent when other people didn't
- 1:05:09Speaker 1: see the talent.
- 1:05:10Speaker 3: Also, I mean, where can people contribute, obviously, to scholarship?
