- 2:38114 and 97 by The Mavericks on Monday, and after being booed
- 2:43off the court on at MSG, trailing at halftime by 30,
- 2:47Jalen Brunson called a players only meeting.
- 2:50Since winning the NBA Cup, the Knicks had a 2 and 9 record,
- 2:55including a four-game losing streak before meeting.
- 3:00Before the meeting, Bronson spoke about caring enough to do
- 3:04what they have had to do to be successful while Josh Hart Yep
- 3:09said the team needed to do some soul searching but also said
- 3:14that the national media was over blowing the Knicks slump and
- 3:18players only and the players only meeting because they do
- 3:21that a lot. By the way, ESP NS Ramona
- 3:24Shelburne mentioned that the players are not looking to Mike
- 3:29Brown to fix their problems and are taking responsibility of
- 3:34their woes but there are some questions on their chemistry and
- 3:38performances. Performance issues, notably the
- 3:42one and only Carl Anthony Towns and consistent play during the
- 3:45stretch has been a glaring issue which the team defense has
- 3:50suffered. The Knicks got back on track on
- 3:53Wednesday night Wednesday night, thrashing the Nets by 54 points,
- 3:59but questions remain about the team's ability to go toe to toe
- 4:03with the best in the league as currently constructed.
- 4:07Despite the struggles, the Knicks are still the number
- 4:10three seed in the East with a 26 and 18 record, but are now seven
- 4:15games back of the Pistons for the number one seed and two
- 4:20games behind. I mean, only and only two games
- 4:24ahead, head of the magic who are in are the the first play in
- 4:29team and as the number seven seed.
- 4:32I, I want to say something about this because people forget about
- 4:35the Celtics who are the number two seed and the Celtics have
- 4:37had an unbelievable season. Missing Jayson Tatum missing
- 4:42they traded Kristaps Porzingis. They moved a lot of players in
- 4:45the offseason. They have white and they have
- 4:47Jaylen Brown and they've been unbelievable.
- 4:49So I, I know when you're when you're writing these monologues
- 4:52and you're looking at it, people forget.
- 4:54I don't care care about the the Orlando Magic.
- 4:56The Orlando Magic don't scare me.
- 4:58And if you're a Knick fan out there and you're afraid of the
- 5:01Orlando Magic, shame on you. The Orlando Magic has as many
- 5:06weaknesses right now as a fourth seed that any team in the
- 5:09Eastern Conference. I'm not worried about them.
- 5:13I'm worried about the two teams ahead of them.
- 5:15And I'm not worried about Detroit because Detroit is going
- 5:18to run away with this this division.
- 5:21They're running away. They're running away with the
- 5:23conference. They're going to be the Eastern
- 5:26Conference champions. Deal with it.
- 5:30The Knicks are not catching them.
- 5:33Cunningham is one of the best point guards in the NBA.
- 5:36I've said it. Everybody asks me why do I have
- 5:40Cunningham? Even some people believe that
- 5:43he's better than, you know, a guy over there in OK C I know
- 5:49everybody's going to sit here and and they're going to say
- 5:51you're a Knick fan. So you're going to you're going
- 5:52to try to find a way out of this.
- 5:54There is no way out of this right now.
- 5:55Why did Josh Hart go to the Jimmy Fallon show when the
- 5:59Knicks were playing this bad? Why would I know he was invited
- 6:03to the Jimmy Fallon show? And I love you, Josh.
- 6:06Why did you go? You're not playing good
- 6:08basketball. You should not be out there
- 6:10prancing and dancing over there with Jimmy Fallon.
- 6:14I know you'll love your Mike and Ikes and that's fine.
- 6:17That's great. And and you like to make jokes
- 6:20and you're obviously have one of the best podcast, basketball
- 6:22podcast out there. I love everything about what you
- 6:25do. You're one of my favorite
- 6:26players in the league. But when your team is playing
- 6:29like this, you should not be going over there and, and
- 6:34talking about it and, and, and bringing it out in front of, you
- 6:37know, the fans. New York is is a basketball
- 6:41place, as big as hockey, baseball and football is, it is
- 6:46a basketball place. And again, when the Knicks are
- 6:52playing this bad after winning the Cup, I have a Cup hat.
- 6:56It took me like 4-4 weeks to get it, but I got a Cup hat.
- 7:00It might be the only hat I I'll ever actually struck or or show
- 7:04off because I don't know if the Knicks will ever win a
- 7:06championship. And I'm going to tell you this,
- 7:08Carl Anthony Towns better wake the F up.
- 7:11They better wake up because he's going to lose his job because
- 7:16there's a guy over there in Milwaukee that wants to be
- 7:18there. And the Knicks will move them.
- 7:23The Knicks have pieces to get Giannis.
- 7:27And there's a lot of other guys that would love to come and play
- 7:30in New York right now. The way it's constructed.
- 7:34I know everybody's going to sit here and make excuses.
- 7:36I know a lot of Knick fans on social media is going to make
- 7:39excuses for this team. I'm not Jaylen Bronson needs to
- 7:43play better. Josh Hart, Mitchell Robertson,
- 7:48McBride, Kollek, Carl Anthony Towns, Bridges, OG Ananobi, all
- 7:56you guys need to play better. Better team basketball, better
- 8:01team defense. Stop letting Carl Anthony Town
- 8:04Chuck up 80 foot jumpers. Why is he chucking up 80 foot
- 8:08jumpers? This team isn't good enough to
- 8:12make the mistakes. You saw what happened against
- 8:16Indiana last year and look, they have a free ride this year.
- 8:21They don't have to deal with Hal Burton.
- 8:23They don't have to deal with Jason Tatum and the Celtics.
- 8:26If they're matched up against the Celtics, who do you think
- 8:28has the advantage? The Knicks do?
- 8:30Why are the Celtics ahead of the New York Knicks right now?
- 8:33You know why? Because they play team defense.
- 8:36The Knicks don't. The Knicks never play team
- 8:38defense. And that's the problem.
- 8:42And Mike Brown came here pushing this offense, wanting to make
- 8:46this offense faster, which he has, and he uses his roster
- 8:50very, very well. But guess what?
- 8:52When these guys are soft and they're not playing good
- 8:54basketball and, and you can see that the rotation is not working
- 8:59out, Mike Brown's reaching. He's trying to find somebody
- 9:02that's going to get hot. And when they get cold, the
- 9:06Knicks, they're all cold. Nobody's hot.
- 9:10And I don't want to see isolation basketball with Jalen
- 9:13Brunson. I want to see more ball
- 9:15movement. I want to see that triangle
- 9:18offense. That's what I want to see.
- 9:23Mike Brown comes from the Spurs, he comes from the Golden State
- 9:25Warriors, Greg Popovich, Steve Kerr.
- 9:30He comes from that old style of game with a little new style.
- 9:36Why isn't Mike Brown pushing the envelope?
- 9:40And I don't want to hear from the player saying, oh, we're not
- 9:43blaming it. We don't want to get Mike Brown
- 9:45involved with this. Why not?
- 9:47Mike Brown has everything to be blamed for this.
- 9:50He's the coach. He's calling the plays.
- 9:53You're not. It's embarrassing.
- 9:58It's embarrassing losing against The Mavericks.
- 10:00I'm sorry, you're better than The Mavericks.
- 10:04Cooper Flag's a great player. He's their only player.
- 10:10They're not playing. I mean, seriously, Kyrie
- 10:12Irving's not playing right now. This is this is pathetic.
- 10:17It's pathetic basketball. And I don't want to hear it from
- 10:20anybody saying that this team is championship bound.
- 10:23They're not championship bound. This team is not.
- 10:27If this is going to be constructed the way they are,
- 10:30and I love Leon Ross. Leon Ross trade all of them, get
- 10:33rid of all of them. I don't want to hear it.
- 10:36And why is Jalen Brunson's father a part of this coaching
- 10:39staff? Why is he a part of this
- 10:42coaching staff when we heard before the season started that
- 10:45he wasn't going to be a part of this coaching staff?
- 10:47What made these changes happen? Jalen Brunson, Josh Hart, who
- 10:52knows? Is Mike Brown really in control
- 10:54of this team? That's the question.
- 10:57Is he really calling the shots? Because if he is, I would I
- 11:02would question a lot of things that's going on and at these
- 11:05team meetings, they've been always having team meetings.
- 11:08Last year in the playoffs they had a team meeting against
- 11:11Indiana. That's.
- 11:13Nothing new. Stupidest things ever, by the
- 11:15way. I'm sorry.
- 11:17The stupidest things ever. Like I played with a lot of
- 11:21great people and I I would consider Jalen Brunson being a
- 11:25great player, but they don't like nobody gives a shit
- 11:31honestly. Like why are we having a players
- 11:34only meeting? Like why?
- 11:36Like we know where we're at. Like our job is to patrol
- 11:41ourselves. Like we don't need to sit here
- 11:43and have a kumbaya and do all that.
- 11:47Miguel Cabrera literally is like these are the dumbest things
- 11:50ever. Like why?
- 11:51Like this gets nothing accomplished because you don't
- 11:53get it. Like, we accomplished stuff
- 11:55between ourselves. We don't need to just have like
- 11:58a meeting by ourselves. But you're 100% right too, with
- 12:04Jalen Brunson's calling the shots because obviously his
- 12:07dad's now involved. And you guys see it more close
- 12:11than I do. But I mean, it's just these,
- 12:15these are dumb Jabba. Jabba Jabba OG and Anobi too,
- 12:19man. OG and Nanobi this is he is the
- 12:22highest played player. He him and Karl Anthony Towns
- 12:25because they made the trade for Karl.
- 12:26Karl's making over 50 and OG and Nanobi's making 45.
- 12:30I think 45,000,000. OG and Nanobi got a lot of
- 12:33money. They paid him a lot of money for
- 12:35him to be a Kawhi Leonard type of player.
- 12:38And he's he's hot and cold. He he can hit a shot, he misses
- 12:42a shot, he hits a shot, then he misses three shots.
- 12:45I, I, I he's not consistent. He's inconsistent.
- 12:49There's too much inconsistency with this basketball team.
- 12:53And you cannot win an NBA championship like this.
- 12:56Go look at all the great teams. Go look at the Western
- 12:58Conference right now, the Nuggets.
- 13:02The Nuggets are playing great basketball.
- 13:03OK CS playing good basketball. The Houston Rockets are playing
- 13:06good basketball. Is it a winky dink?
- 13:09No, it's not. You know why?
- 13:12They play great team defense and the Knicks don't.
- 13:16They got 3 or 4 good defensive players and the rest of them
- 13:19don't play any. Not a stick of it, not a lick of
- 13:22it, not any of it. It's embarrassing.
- 13:26And you go and you do it on your you do it on your own basketball
- 13:29floor at MSG. It's embarrassing.
- 13:33I don't want to hear it, but the fans born, who cares what the
- 13:36fans say? I don't give a crap what the
- 13:39fans say. I don't care what the media
- 13:41says. I care about what everybody in
- 13:43the locker room has to say, what was said in that locker room.
- 13:47And I don't want to see Josh Hart go out there in the public
- 13:49eye with Jimmy Fallon after the fact that they had this players,
- 13:54this players conversation, this players meeting and him saying,
- 13:58well, we're we're right now in a slump, but we'll get out of it.
- 14:00We're you know, we're having a great season.
- 14:02Really, you're having a great season, great season.
- 14:05The Easter Conference sucks, Josh.
- 14:07It sucks. There's nobody good.
- 14:11The best teams are right at the top.
- 14:13Detroit, the Celtics and you. And don't give me the Orlando
- 14:18Magic. I don't want to hear about a
- 14:20what until Orlando does it. I don't trust them.
- 14:23I don't trust them. They don't have enough secondary
- 14:27offense to do anything in the playoffs in A7 game series
- 14:30against an elite team. They might get out of a wide
- 14:33like in the first round, but when they're matched up against
- 14:36one of these teams, good luck. Well, I'm not betting on
- 14:40Orlando. I know Goody does, but I'm not
- 14:42going to bet on him. Am I wrong about this?
- 14:45Yeah, it's one of those weird circumstances with the Knicks
- 14:48where everyone is slumping on the secondary offense all at
- 14:51once. And then when you combine that
- 14:52with just not having good team defense and transition defense,
- 14:55is it the same problems that you ran into last year towards the
- 14:58end of the season? And obviously last year was a
- 15:00difference of OK, these guys are getting hurt or these guys are
- 15:03getting worn down because of the playing time, because of the Tom
- 15:05Thibodeau, the way he coaches, 4 out of the six players were
- 15:08leading the NBA. It's played per game.
- 15:10It's not that same circumstance this year.
- 15:12Now you have a case of three guys, Michael Bridges, OG Anobi
- 15:15and Karl Anthony Towns. All it randomly cold at once and
- 15:19all of a sudden you have a losing streak again.
- 15:21Some teams that are pretty bad too.
- 15:23And like you said, some of them are at home.
- 15:24Atlanta has a team in transition right now that just traded Trey
- 15:27Young. They loose to them by 12.
- 15:29The Suns, yeah, they're better than expected, but there's still
- 15:31nothing special. They just lost to the Kings like
- 15:33they lost to the Clippers. The Clippers team that's in a
- 15:35betting scandal or a money laundering scandal or whatever,
- 15:39like they're no good and they barely survive.
- 15:41Teams like the Pelicans, that might be the worst team in the
- 15:43NBA. I want to say something too, for
- 15:46all the Knick fans that are having excitement after them
- 15:49pulverizing the Brooklyn Nets, the biggest win total the Knicks
- 15:53have ever had in their history since they've been in the
- 15:56league. Stop it.
- 15:59This is the Brooklyn Nets. They're trying to lose.
- 16:01They're trying to get the number one pick.
- 16:03Are you really bragging about knocking off the Brooklyn Nets?
- 16:07Are you Knick fans really excited about this?
- 16:10Come on guys, I am so fed up with hearing Nick fans tell me,
- 16:17oh, next year we got it, next year we got it, next year we got
- 16:20it, next year we got it. How about this year we got it.
- 16:24How about if you don't find it, we're going to find somebody
- 16:27that has it. And I'm going to tell you this
- 16:30right now, if this team doesn't wake up, there is going to be
- 16:34trades, there is going to be movement.
- 16:36Carl Anthony Towns, I've heard. Portland reaching out to the
- 16:39Knicks about Carl Anthony Towns. I've heard Orlando reaching out
- 16:43to the Knicks about Karl Anthony Towns.
- 16:45There are a couple of teams interested in Karl Anthony Towns
- 16:49because they already know that the Knicks are probably going to
- 16:52shop him because he doesn't fit with this rotation.
- 16:55He never liked Mike Brown. He never liked the hire.
- 16:58He didn't like Tom Thibodeau. He we all know he didn't like
- 17:01Tom Thibodeau because he didn't want to be over there with the
- 17:02Timberwolves anymore. So he had to deal with Tom
- 17:05Thibodeau because he was Leon Rose's client.
- 17:07That's why he came here. It to me.
- 17:09The Knicks got lucky getting him.
- 17:11But even though even that, look what the Timberwolves are doing
- 17:15with the trade. Julius Randall's been pretty
- 17:17damn good over there. I mean, seriously.
- 17:19So I don't want to hear it. I don't want to hear it from
- 17:22these guys. I don't want to hear of making
- 17:24excuses. There's no excuses to this team
- 17:26anymore. It's not Jaylen Bronson, put up
- 17:29or shut up, Josh Hart, keep everything inside the locker
- 17:34room. I don't want to see you go on
- 17:37any of these shows anymore. You want to talk about it on
- 17:39your podcast, do it on your podcast.
- 17:41I don't want to hear it on the Jimmy Fallon show.
- 17:43I don't want to hear about Mike and Ike's.
- 17:45I don't want to hear about this runway show that you're in.
- 17:48I don't want to. I care about wins.
- 17:50I go about. I care about a championship that
- 17:52this team has been dreaming about since 1973.
- 17:57Yeah, it's very, very well put because you're looking at a case
- 18:00of maybe they don't even know how to handle it yet.
- 18:02And this is a core that isn't inexperienced either.
- 18:04Now. Yeah, they're new pieces.
- 18:06Towns was one year, OG trade was another year.
- 18:08I get that. But it's not like it's a core
- 18:10that's just rising now either. And it's not like it's a core
- 18:13that is does not have veteran leadership.
- 18:16Like Jalen Bronson's still young, but he's come off as a
- 18:18good veteran leader. We've seen McHale Bridge is a
- 18:21time to be a good veteran leader.
- 18:22But at the same time, like you can't let these Eagles clash
- 18:25where it affects your performance on the basketball
- 18:28court for a team, like you said, in an Eastern Conference that is
- 18:31wide open because there's really one dominant team right now.
- 18:34The Celtics are over performing good.
- 18:36Give them credit. Joe Missoula is actually
- 18:38coaching for once in his career and Cleveland's been better now.
- 18:42But there's really no forces in the East.
- 18:44And yet you're just lollygagging pretty much on a whole West
- 18:46Coast road trip. You're playing even though some
- 18:49of the wins they've had were all close and they just can't beat
- 18:52good team if you're going to do like do stuff like that.
- 18:54You know what the Knicks are? You know what they remind me of?
- 18:56They remind me of an orange. You got to peel them, right?
- 19:00To actually get the juicy part to the middle, You know what I
- 19:03mean? When you open up an orange, if
- 19:05it has green on it, it's probably not going to be juicy.
- 19:08It's usually those nice, you know, orangey and hard kind of
- 19:14oranges are the ones that have that that juicy taste when you
- 19:17when you peel them off. Then I don't think I would ever
- 19:21like thought you referred to a reference from the Knicks to
- 19:24peeling an orange. That's who they are.
- 19:27I mean, I don't know what I'm I don't know what I'm going to get
- 19:29out of the New York Knicks. Are they going to, are they
- 19:31going to show up in a game or am I peeling and am I going to get
- 19:34the juice from them? It's that's the problem with
- 19:37them. They they're flat.
- 19:38There are games that they look so damn flat.
- 19:41It's boring. And it and they, they try to
- 19:44pick up the pace and, and then you see Mike Brown sitting on
- 19:48the sidelines calling timeouts and he's trying to figure out
- 19:50what rotation I'm going to put in.
- 19:52This guy can't hit a shot. That guy can't hit a shot.
- 19:54That guy can't hit a shot. That guy can't hit a layup.
- 19:57I mean, how many times I've seen Mitchell Robinson miss a
- 19:59freaking layup? I mean, come on, you're a
- 20:03professional basketball player, you're playing in MSG, and
- 20:07you're gonna tell me that this is the best you have?
- 20:10This is the best you're going to put you put up or shut up.
- 20:12That's what basketball in MSG is all about.
- 20:15And the New York Knicks, let's let's be honest, it's all been
- 20:18shut up because the Knicks haven't been good in years.
- 20:22They finally have a good basketball team.
- 20:24It was put together by Leon Rose.
- 20:26He's the mastermind. And I'm going to tell you this
- 20:27right now, as much as I have so much respect for Leon Rose, this
- 20:32team playing the way it is, I'm I'm making calls right now.
- 20:36I'm making calls right now. You want Karl Anthony Towns?
- 20:39What are you offering me? You want OG and OB?
- 20:42What are you offering me? You want Mikhail Bridges?
- 20:44What are you offering me? I'm getting rid of the whole
- 20:46kitten caboodle if they're not going to show up and play hard.
- 20:51That's it. Look, look, Errol, it's the
- 20:56slightly different problem than last year, the same, same type
- 20:59type of crap defense. But I think the problem is, you
- 21:03know, Tibbs played 7-8 guys tops, right?
- 21:07They're playing 13 guys right now.
- 21:10They had a bunch of guys get hurt and come back.
- 21:12Now they don't really know their roles.
- 21:14There's not enough minutes to give out.
- 21:15Jordan Clarkson's not even in the rotation anymore.
- 21:18I don't know if you knew that. No, I know he felt that.
- 21:20It's been 2 games now. He hasn't played.
- 21:22He played like 2 minutes. Because he can't hit a.
- 21:23Shot well, it's not only he can't hit a shot, he can't play
- 21:26defense. And if he's not hitting a shot,
- 21:28then there's no reason to play him.
- 21:29So if his shots off, you know, then how does he then get his
- 21:32shot to get back on if he's not getting any?
- 21:35He can't hit a free throw. A free throw.
- 21:38So the point it the point I'm bringing it up is now you have
- 21:41guys that have shown they've played minutes in the league in
- 21:45the NBA, put them together in a package, trade them, upgrade.
- 21:50I I don't know if Towns can play defense the way that it seems to
- 21:55be Tibbs, not certainly not the way Tibbs wanted.
- 21:57And I don't know if Mike Brown, you know, Mike Brown seems to
- 22:01want them to play a different style of defense that requires
- 22:03them to hustle a little bit more than they're used to.
- 22:06Like they, he wants everyone to be Josh Hart, you know, out
- 22:09there. And Josh Hart's been hurt.
- 22:11So he hasn't even been Josh Hart in the way that he's been used
- 22:14to being. So it's, I don't know if
- 22:17they're, they've bought in to what Brown wants them to do or
- 22:22more importantly, have the right guys, I think.
- 22:24And if Towns isn't the guy, he's got to go.
- 22:26I think they've bought in earlier in the season and then
- 22:29they got lacks a days ago and they just, they seem like after
- 22:34they won the Cup off, this is going to be a smooth sailing
- 22:37season. We're going to the playoffs,
- 22:39we're winning the NBA title. We're the best.
- 22:41And and let's be honest, the New York Knicks have never had a
- 22:46smooth sailing season. I'm sorry.
- 22:49Every season they go into these runs where they lose like 8 out
- 22:53of their next 10 games and you're like, what?
- 22:55Where does this team come from? I mean, seriously, I'm
- 22:58embarrassed sometimes watching this team.
- 23:00When you lose against the Sacramento Kings, OK.
- 23:05When you lose against a team like that, it's embarrassing
- 23:09because they're looking to move pieces, they're looking to
- 23:12rebuild, they're looking for that number one pick and you
- 23:15lose against them by almost double digits.
- 23:17I think you did lose against double elevens.
- 23:19Yeah. So I I mean, it's embarrassing
- 23:22and there's no excuse to it. And Jaylen Brunson's got this
- 23:25isolation game with Jaylen Brunson.
- 23:27It's got to stop it. It has to, it has to be.
- 23:30I mean, when the Knicks were efficient against Indiana in
- 23:33that series in the in the playoffs last year, they were
- 23:35moving the ball around the perimeter.
- 23:37The ball never stopped. They were shooting shots.
- 23:40OG got a touch. Mikhail Bridges got a touch.
- 23:42Jalen Brunson got a touch, Carl Anthony Towns got a touch.
- 23:45When they were playing that kind of basketball, feeding the guy
- 23:48that was hot. They were playing great
- 23:50basketball. They're not doing nobody's hot.
- 23:52They're all horrible and they're all trying to reach.
- 23:55They're trying to reach into Santa's little bag and find out
- 23:58if they're going to get the right present, OK, Because And
- 24:01it's probably going to be cold the way the Knicks play, All
- 24:04right? I'm tired of watching it.
- 24:06I'm tired of it. There's no excuse.
- 24:08And if I was Leon Rose and I was the GM of this team right now,
- 24:12I'm right now making phone calls.
- 24:13I'm getting rid of the problems right now in my locker room.
- 24:16And we all know who they are. We all know who it's not.
- 24:20It's not a surprise right now what's going on with the Knicks.
- 24:24This always happens to the Knicks about the same time,
- 24:27before the All Star game, same time.
- 24:29Then the Knicks get hot. They get hot.
- 24:32They they're, they're playing. They're dancing and prancing.
- 24:34And then the last two weeks of the season, they suck.
- 24:37And then they go into the playoffs, they play, oh, they
- 24:40play OK, They play OK. And then and then the second
- 24:43round, they get eliminated. This is this has been the Knicks
- 24:46the last couple of years except last year when they went to the
- 24:49Eastern Conference Finals and they play like crap against the
- 24:52Indiana Pacers. Absolutely horrible after that
- 24:55dagger with Hal Burton and and Amnesty.
- 24:57That was the dagger. That series was over after he
- 25:01hit that unbelievable lucky 3 pointer which sent it to
- 25:05overtime. I'll imagine they blew a 15
- 25:06point. Leader, it wasn't a three.
- 25:07I'm sorry. It was a 2 because he stepped on
- 25:09the line. It should have been a three.
- 25:11And you know, I mean, he tried to make it a three and tried to
- 25:14disguise it in every kind of way.
- 25:16But embarrassing. And the New York Knicks, if
- 25:19you're a Knick fan, you can't. You can't honestly tell me that
- 25:22this is something that you're proud of and you're OK with
- 25:26honestly, because I'm not. Anyways, we got inside baseball.
- 25:30Now let's go deep. Deep inside what?
- 25:34I am excited. This is inside baseball.
- 25:38There's been a whole bunch of baseball news.
- 25:40We're going to get it started with the big one.
- 25:42The Mets obviously had to make a big splash move.
- 25:46They did it and they traded a bunch of prospects for Brewers
- 25:51All Star pitcher Freddy Peralta. Yes, he was the big name that
- 25:55was on the market this winter. He goes for top pitching
- 26:01prospect and Sproat and Speedy. What was the second guy, second,
- 26:06third? Williams, All right.
- 26:08And an infielder. That's a highly touted
- 26:10infielder. It's a pretty big haul
- 26:12considering Peralta's only under contract Errol for this season.
- 26:16Here's the thing. It's a great move for the Mets.
- 26:18It is. It's a great move.
- 26:20They get their number one guy, they have McClain.
- 26:22They got a great 1-2 punch. You gave up two top prospects
- 26:26for a rent a player, 2 top prospects for rent a player.
- 26:30They made a trade for a rent A player and now a lot of Met fans
- 26:34sitting here today, you're probably saying, oh, we have a
- 26:37chance to win a World Series. We we added one of the best
- 26:40hitters in baseball and Beau Boschet, but he's playing third
- 26:42base. Oh, we added, we added an
- 26:45outfielder out there. Finally I could catch the ball,
- 26:47but he can't hit. He hasn't hit since 2023.
- 26:51I mean, honestly, I am not going to bet on Peralta signing back
- 26:56with the Mets. One reason why next year it
- 26:58could be a strike and then the Mets are interested in Scrubal.
- 27:03So if they give Peralta the money before the seasons end,
- 27:07there's no way they're going to pay Tarek Scubal after the
- 27:10strike. There's no way he's going to
- 27:12want 400 million. So that's not happening when the
- 27:15Mets and the the Dodgers are almost at, well, the Dodgers are
- 27:18over 500 million. The Mets are right there.
- 27:20It's not going to happen. So all you Met fans that were
- 27:24dreaming a dream about Tarek Scubal, you could take that
- 27:28dream and blow it away because it's not happening.
- 27:31You like Peralta, we'll see how he does in New York.
- 27:34We've seen pictures not work out in New York.
- 27:36I can name a couple of them. But it's it's a good move as of
- 27:40right now on paper. You did give up two top
- 27:42prospects that you know, Milwaukee, they know how to,
- 27:45they know how to draft and they know how to trade and they know
- 27:47how to pick guys off of other teams just like the Tampa Bay
- 27:51Rays. Yeah, they're going to.
- 27:53They were waiting on the Mets offer because of the Mets.
- 27:55We're going to give them the most.
- 27:56And I think maybe they added a little more incentive to get
- 27:59somebody like Jet Williams, who probably could come up this year
- 28:01and make an instant impact for the Brewers and Sprout, who
- 28:04again, maybe doesn't have the upside that Tong and McClain
- 28:07have but is still a good prospect.
- 28:08But they do have to sign him. I I would sign him now.
- 28:11Like you can't take the chance that OK just because maybe scuba
- 28:13is going to be available. Maybe you sign him, you get
- 28:15scuba. I I they might not get him
- 28:17anyway. I'm not going to take the chance
- 28:19of losing 1 pitcher just because you might still.
- 28:23Fan knew they were going if they didn't get Tucker this year,
- 28:25they were going all in and Taric school ball and now all of a
- 28:28sudden the week of Stearns. That's my story, ladies and
- 28:32gentlemen, go check it out on the World Wide Sports Radio
- 28:34Network. It's a great article.
- 28:36I attacked every single thing David Stearns did because he was
- 28:40reaching on every single one of these moves.
- 28:42Peralta is the best one, but you're you took a red to player
- 28:46for two of your best prospects. Yeah, and we saw pitchers that
- 28:49have been making these types of trades in the past get signed
- 28:52right away. The Red Sox said it with
- 28:53Crochet. They signed him six years, 160
- 28:55right away. The Dodgers said it with both of
- 28:56their guys that they got. The Mets need to do that kind of
- 28:59thing. And yeah, you maybe you still
- 29:00get school. Maybe you still get somebody big
- 29:02next season. Maybe Peralta doesn't want to do
- 29:04that. I hope if you're going to trade
- 29:06those types of levels prospect that you're going to do that.
- 29:08But again, you don't know what the Mets with the way they're
- 29:10operating, but they still have to trust that kind of process.
- 29:13In the same way he's 28, he's still young enough.
- 29:14Since he came back from that Tommy John surgery four years
- 29:17ago, he's been healthy. He's a top 20, probably top 15
- 29:20pitcher. Yeah, but he's not a top ten and
- 29:21he's going to get paid like a top ten pitcher.
- 29:24Still, you need to. I still think you need to seal
- 29:25it if you're going to trade that much in order to do it.
- 29:27If they don't, it's going to be a big mistake that'll backfire
- 29:30on Stearns. If they do, they get a top 15
- 29:32pitcher. It's something they needed for a
- 29:33while to help out these young guys and not put as much
- 29:35pressure on them. I look at the Stearns thing in
- 29:37the in the article that you wrote and this this might be the
- 29:44caveat to either he sinks or swims because you give up the
- 29:49prospects, none of them obviously big league ready, none
- 29:53of them like 2 of them obviously big prospects, but none of them
- 29:57there were in the top 100 of MLB.
- 30:01So yeah, you're giving away a little bit of your farm system,
- 30:05but were they going to help you now?
- 30:07I don't think they were. There was.
- 30:08No room for Williams Vale I infielders.
- 30:11Right, and so and So what what I think when I say sink or swim,
- 30:15it's like phone wants to win now.
- 30:18And you I thought pitching was going to be one of those things
- 30:22and and you got a guy and it can be a rent a year, but he's going
- 30:26to see what they're doing and and what they brought in.
- 30:30Did they touch on everything that they needed?
- 30:32Probably not, but he's going to see it.
- 30:37And is it just going to be a rent a player?
- 30:40It might be, it might be. But he also made me like, oh,
- 30:44well, we can do this and my owner is going to do this.
- 30:47And but I think it's if they don't do something this year, I
- 30:52think you have to look at Stearns and be like, see you
- 30:55because you're making moves that haven't translated anything like
- 31:00where I don't really know with rhyme or reason either.
- 31:04But obviously they made some moves.
- 31:06They gave some guys away but really when you look at it from
- 31:12the whole scheme of things, are they are they winning now?
- 31:14Are they, are they setting themselves up to win?
- 31:17I don't I don't know that answer.
- 31:18Is still somewhere in between right now and because they're
- 31:21young enough, but they still have a lot of pieces in the
- 31:23wrong place. Well, I mean, I I love Peralta
- 31:28as a fantasy guy. He's always one of those low
- 31:31WHIP guys with the low ERA gets a bunch of strikeouts about a
- 31:35strikeout and inning. He's he's a borderline ace.
- 31:39I think Errol, I think we talked, we talked about it
- 31:41earlier today. I don't know if you want him to
- 31:42be your number one. I think you're hoping McClain
- 31:45becomes that number one. You're hoping on this roster.
- 31:48But you know, they the Mets didn't stop there.
- 31:50The Mets before this big trade made a little smaller trade for
- 31:54another notable name. I wouldn't necessarily he's a
- 31:57good player anymore. But they did trade for White,
- 32:02former White Sox outfielder Louise Robert.
- 32:05Now, Robert had 38 homers in 2023.
- 32:10But he's also been hurt a lot. He's batting average has dipped
- 32:16below 200 on occasion. He has some speed but isn't
- 32:21particularly using it at times. It's just one of those guys.
- 32:26He's A5 tool player Errol, and he's got all the talent in the
- 32:30world. He just hasn't put it together.
- 32:33So the Mets, they sent the Louis Angel, Louis Angel Lacuna, Ron
- 32:39Lacuna brother off in this deal. Another infielder, another
- 32:43pitcher in the minor leagues. Robert Louise is a good player.
- 32:49He was a good player in 2023. He's no longer a guy that can
- 32:52hit the ball in the big leagues. He probably is going to hit
- 32:56between 2:20 and 2:10 with the Mets.
- 32:58If he could get on base and walk if he if he can, if he has that
- 33:02kind of speed, maybe he can cause a little bit of havoc.
- 33:05He's a great defensive player. He's a good center fielder,
- 33:07which the Mets have been lacking for a while.
- 33:10But guess what? This is the way I looked at it
- 33:13and this is the way I put it in my story.
- 33:15You traded a fan favorite. Fan favorite.
- 33:18Brandon Nimmo could actually hit, can actually defend, maybe
- 33:22in the second-half of the season, was up and down, but
- 33:25still a really good player. For a player that is less of a
- 33:30man than Nimmo is, it makes no sense.
- 33:33Nimmo was on the field. Nimmo player.
- 33:36I'm taking Nimmo over this guy. And then I listened to David
- 33:39Stearns and his interview recently, which it was yesterday
- 33:42he was talking about, and he says, oh, I love this move.
- 33:45This is one of the best, better moves I made this offseason.
- 33:47If you think this is one of your better moves, you need to be
- 33:51out, out, out because you don't belong here.
- 33:54It doesn't it doesn't make sense to me because if if you're like
- 33:58trying to get your and and speedy you can speak on this
- 34:01too. more than I can because I'm not a Mets fan.
- 34:04But if you take one of your home grown dudes that is liked and
- 34:08loved lived in Long Island. I'm very biased because I know
- 34:13the Nimmo family and I played with his brother in college.
- 34:16But the dude did everything the right way.
- 34:18Like he was a great clubhouse guy.
- 34:21He did it. And yeah.
- 34:23Did he have peaks and valleys? That's the game of baseball.
- 34:26That's that's what it was. But was he productive?
- 34:29Did he do things that you didn't think he was probably going to
- 34:33do because you didn't really know?
- 34:35Yeah, he did. And that's why he got paid the
- 34:38money. He got paid.
- 34:39And now you get rid of them and you lose like you're losing your
- 34:43clubhouse. And that's why I just.
- 34:46I going back and forth and and YouTube with jam and I I don't
- 34:50know what Stern's thinking is like.
- 34:52You still have to have staples in the clubhouse.
- 34:56And now, OK, you got Frankie, but you got rid of Pete, you got
- 35:00rid of Nimmo and now you're trying to bring all these pieces
- 35:03that I don't know. You don't have any like McLean
- 35:07yet. We're we're going to have that
- 35:09person. But like he he's only done it
- 35:12for this amount of time. Nimmo did it forever.
- 35:15Good job of think job of think about this.
- 35:18We were just talking about their field.
- 35:20Now they're bringing in all players from all different
- 35:22teams. They have nobody really on their
- 35:25roster besides their pitching staff that are really homegrown
- 35:28Mets, except maybe Alvarez. That's it.
- 35:30There's no homegrown Mets out in the field.
- 35:33None. So and I, and that's, that's
- 35:36where I don't know what Stern's thinking is like.
- 35:38You have to have staple. You have to.
- 35:40Every team that wins has staples.
- 35:44You talk about the DD in the deferred dodge, they have Will
- 35:48Smith. Will Smith was there.
- 35:50That's their dude. You have to have something that
- 35:53has stability from where you come from, and that is my
- 35:56opinion. You can tell me to go fly a kite
- 35:58and I'm wrong and that's OK, I'm OK with that.
- 36:01But you now get rid of that and try to create a different
- 36:05dynamic. I just don't know what his
- 36:06thinking is. Like, if you're running a
- 36:08player, Louise Robert, however you want to pronounce it, has
- 36:14had flashes of what he is. He's a freak of a human.
- 36:17Like he is a gigantic human, but what are you?
- 36:22What are you creating? Like, I don't know the dynamic
- 36:28of what his vision is because obviously I'm not in his pocket
- 36:31and I don't know that. But for me to be a successful
- 36:36organization, you got to have some capacity of understanding
- 36:41that you have to have some glue that works in the club out and
- 36:46you got rid of some glue with the meth.
- 36:49How about you? And you're trying to add pieces.
- 36:50I I don't. Yeah, I've, I've always said
- 36:52what I like the Simeon Nimmo trade at the time, but if you're
- 36:55going to overload on all those infielders at that point after
- 36:57that, then you could have probably saved Nimmo for a
- 36:59different trade or if you really wanted to get rid of him or just
- 37:02hang on to him. Yeah, you're going to get some
- 37:03losing out on defense in center field.
- 37:05But if you're going to trade McNeil?
- 37:06Let me ask you a question. Nimmo if if you had a choice
- 37:09between Nimmo and Robert. I'm taking Nimmo.
- 37:11Definitely taking Nimmo now, Robert.
- 37:13Robert as an upgrade over their center fielder rotation they had
- 37:17last year with Tyrone Taylor and Cedric Mole.
- 37:19He's a lot more powerful than that now.
- 37:20Yeah. Low batting average?
- 37:21Fine. The Yankees found Grissom.
- 37:23I mean, seriously, the Mets could have found somebody of
- 37:25that magnitude. Not this guy who can't hit a
- 37:28lick. Yeah, again, the low batting
- 37:30average is going to come because they're going to have that kind
- 37:31of issue. Unless Carson Bench played
- 37:33center field this year and like had an impact as a batting
- 37:36average guy, you weren't going to get that anyway.
- 37:37So Robert has more power than that.
- 37:39Now. Again, this is not a case where
- 37:40I would sign the guy right away. He still has a lot to worry
- 37:42about. Jabba, the other factor with him
- 37:44is he was part of that White Sox.
- 37:47I talked about this years ago, one of those Clubhouse says that
- 37:49were broken with Tony Larussa and they like didn't listen to
- 37:52the rules and stuff like that. And Robert was.
- 37:54One of those you're preaching the choir.
- 37:55I know. Yeah, I worried about, I worry
- 37:57about that. Maybe a change of scenery helps,
- 37:59but I don't know what type of culture guy he is necessarily.
- 38:02So don't sign him right away. He's an offensive upgrade.
- 38:05You don't have to trade much. Fine.
- 38:06But yeah, I'd rush, rather have an MO and just the process of it
- 38:08seems flawed. It just seemed like a panic
- 38:10move. And they're again David Sterns
- 38:12overloading any fielders and guys out of place.
- 38:15You know, in 2023, he played 145 games.
- 38:18That's the most he ever played in his career.
- 38:20He's he played 100 the last two seasons.
- 38:24I, I, it's just an illogical move, guys.
- 38:28I, I don't know, I still don't think they have a first baseman
- 38:31on their roster. I, it's a very strange offseason
- 38:35for the Mets, but let's just pretend like it was great
- 38:38because that's what a lot of people are doing in the media.
- 38:40Let's do it. Let's keep the pretending going.
- 38:43I know you're a fan of the deal. I'm a fan of the deal too.
- 38:46The Yankees finally resigned Cody Bellinger to A5 year deal
- 38:51worth 162 and a half million dollars with opt outs after both
- 38:56year two and three. It includes a $20 million
- 39:00signing bonus, which means basically, I guess all signing
- 39:04bonuses really mean for cat purposes, it's front loaded
- 39:08contract. It'll decrease in value over
- 39:11time. Meaning it's more likely he
- 39:13would want to opt out because there's less money later in the
- 39:16contract. So I guess they got every why
- 39:19all the sides got what they wanted.
- 39:21The Yankees may have done a little bidding against
- 39:23themselves here, but I don't think it was that bad of a deal,
- 39:28even if they had to pay a little extra no bidding.
- 39:31I think this was a great deal for the New York Yankees.
- 39:33They didn't go a six year. It was either five year or six
- 39:36year. Me and Jabba were talking about
- 39:38this off air. We talk about this on air.
- 39:41This is a great move. If you would ask me right now,
- 39:43Bellinger is a better player than Tucker, all around better
- 39:45player than Tucker. Tucker got a huge contract for
- 39:48four years from the Dodgers and Bellinger got less money and
- 39:53he's a better player. He can play multiple positions.
- 39:55He's a great left-handed power hitter.
- 39:58He he can do all those things. He was one of the best.
- 40:01He was, he was one of the best to hit against lefties all
- 40:04season last year. And the Yankees have had a lack
- 40:06of that kind of offense really every single year since Joe
- 40:10Torre. So I, I, I like this move.
- 40:12I don't. Brian Cashman didn't break.
- 40:14He said he wanted five years and he stuck at that.
- 40:17He started, he stood at that and he got him for five years.
- 40:20It was a slam dunk for Brian Cashman.
- 40:22I don't think they overpaid him. They gave a great player a lot
- 40:26of money. That's it, That's baseball.
- 40:29Yeah, they stuck to his, they stuck to his guns with knowing
- 40:32the way that Cody Bellinger splits in his career have been
- 40:34with, you know, after he left, the daughters went to the Cubs
- 40:36too. And that's why I think a lot of
- 40:39people were skeptical to give him the seven-year deal that
- 40:41Bellinger was trying to push for and they just did it with opt
- 40:45outs instead. Maybe Bellinger thinks he can
- 40:46get that in a second deal or get a combined value in a second
- 40:49deal. So he got what he wanted.
- 40:50I think the Yankees got the the deal that they needed to get
- 40:53because they had to get him back to get that offensive production
- 40:55that you know is going to be there in that line up again.
- 40:59I, I, I literally said it all year, I go sign this dude now.
- 41:03But what Errol and I talked about and I, I talked about it
- 41:07on other podcasts and, and other stuff, I go years are going to
- 41:11be the difference. That's going to be the thing
- 41:13that holds it up and where we talked about and we touched on
- 41:18it and years in age come into factor now because teams have
- 41:24been burnt with giving longer contracts to dudes that are
- 41:27older and I think Kyle Tucker is younger than Cody Bellinger.
- 41:32By one year. By one year.
- 41:34Yeah, but that's a big difference.
- 41:37But where I think Cody, and I've said this numerous times where
- 41:43his versatility that gets underrated a lot is defensive,
- 41:47but also he's played in it, he's note and he grew up with it.
- 41:50He grew up with it. He knows what it is and LA is
- 41:54different than New York, but it's two big markets, right?
- 41:56This for me was like, you should have done this a long time ago.
- 42:00You should have done this a long time ago because that's where he
- 42:03wants to be. And I would I, I, you can
- 42:08footnote this, bookmark it, whatever the hell you want to
- 42:10do. I will give cash credit on this
- 42:13one for staying on the five year.
- 42:15I will, I will give, I will give him credit for staying because
- 42:19that was the one thing that I, I was like, years are going to be
- 42:23different because if he wants 6 or 7, then it's not going to
- 42:28happen. And I was like, damn, he might
- 42:30go back to the Cubs. Like they just got braggy.
- 42:33I'm like, oh, this might actually happen because the
- 42:37longer it goes it, it, it sways to like, it's not going to
- 42:41happen. But I think the number was the
- 42:45number was correct and the years were perfect for him because
- 42:50realistically he could still get another contract after.
- 42:53That yeah, and he will. And.
- 42:54And I think the Yankees know that and I and.
- 42:56And I think the next contract won't be with the Yankees and.
- 42:59And I think. Again, that's fine, but for him
- 43:01to make the money to, to have the stability and whatever, but
- 43:05you, you, you, you have to take all of the things that Cody has
- 43:09done in his career. Yes, 1 MVP, yes.
- 43:13Did he hit below the Mendoza line in 200?
- 43:16Yes. He's that.
- 43:16We've seen it and numbers don't lie, but numbers all aren't
- 43:22all-encompassing of what you get in the value of a person and the
- 43:28understanding, like there's things we can't quantify and the
- 43:31understanding of playing in a place like New York, and we've
- 43:35seen it with multiple people where that's just, they're not
- 43:38built for. That and I want to say I want to
- 43:40say something a lot of fans are saying, and I'll say this on
- 43:43Josh Silverberg show go game on. He him and his father said, I'll
- 43:49be very surprised if the Yankees make the playoffs.
- 43:51This team is first of all has one of the best rotations in
- 43:54baseball when Garrett Cole comes back this year and I wouldn't
- 43:58even question that they're not going to make moves at the trade
- 44:01deadline. I know everybody says, well,
- 44:02what have the Yankees done? They sided They signed a very
- 44:05important piece in Cody Bellinger, who's important to
- 44:08this lineup defensively and offensively.
- 44:10So stop Yankee fans saying that the Yankees didn't do enough.
- 44:13The Yankees are doing a lot more than you think they're doing.
- 44:16This is what Brian does. He waits and he he pounces on
- 44:20players that he thinks are freeloaders or guys that he can
- 44:24fix to put into that rotation or that bullpen.
- 44:28I think the Yankees are fine with their as far as their
- 44:30lineup is concerned until the trade death.
- 44:33What you're saying don't add. You always have to add like you.
- 44:37You can't say because you can't stay with the same team and be
- 44:40in the same position. No, I'm saying, I'm saying right
- 44:43now I don't see the Yankees adding, and I think they'll be.
- 44:46But realistically, they they didn't add anything great.
- 44:51Let's just be honest, they didn't add anything great.
- 44:53I don't. Think they need to?
- 44:56They have no. Who's the closer one?
- 44:58So what are we like, what are we saying?
- 45:00Fish? You're right, You're 100%.
- 45:02Right. So we're going in with Benar on
- 45:04an expired icon. She's a closer as our closer
- 45:07right now. No and no setup, man.
- 45:10We've lost guys. We added nobody Bellinger we had
- 45:13and wasn't good enough last year.
- 45:15So how I mean, look, if Gerrit Cole comes back, that's a huge
- 45:18shot in the yard. The.
- 45:19Yankees have another young pitcher going to be called up
- 45:21this year that I've been reading about.
- 45:23They love. Him so.
- 45:24Great, yes. They love him.
- 45:26They love him right and then and every Warren could be a trade
- 45:29spot or they can move him into the bullpen and he could be your
- 45:33close. He's got great stuff.
- 45:34No. So we're this, we're the same
- 45:36team, so we're going to be in the same position, right?
- 45:39So how, how are we going to any better?
- 45:41How are you going to be a playoff, you know, a, a Pennant
- 45:46winning team, at least I, I don't see it.
- 45:48The Blue Jays added the Blue Jays added the.
- 45:51Blue Jays always choke and and they lost and.
- 45:54And they didn't this year. They lost Bob Bishop one year,
- 45:57one year you're bringing up and. They gave away boba shet.
- 46:00They didn't want boba shet. Whatever, Boba.
- 46:03Shet, but this it's you're literally putting the same
- 46:06product and you're going to get the same product.
- 46:09Not necessarily. I've seen the Yankees come out
- 46:12year in and year out in the 90s. What?
- 46:15I'm sorry. Jericho yeah, that's, I mean,
- 46:17that's obviously a game changer, but that's the same thing cash
- 46:20does every year. It's like, oh, we're going to do
- 46:23back at the deadline and that's like adding a free agent cash.
- 46:27We've heard that every year. I just like to see them use some
- 46:30of these pieces. You know, they got Dominguez
- 46:33waiting there. He plays the same position as
- 46:35Bellinger right now with Ben Rice is for his base, Bellinger
- 46:37left field. Well, so is Jason Dominguez.
- 46:40The Yankees will be. Fine.
- 46:41You gotta do something. They'll gotta do something,
- 46:43Cashman. I'm sorry, I just as a Yankee
- 46:46fan, you didn't do shit. This here's my prediction.
- 46:48The Yankees win the division this year, and I'm not saying
- 46:51this because I'm a Yankee. Fan, the Yankees are going to
- 46:53win God's ears. Man, the Yankees are going to
- 46:54win the division this year. I'll put a bet on that, that
- 46:57they don't win the division, OK? Well, a team that has a guy, the
- 47:00Rangers, the Rangers that I wish the Yankees would call about
- 47:04their shortstop, They added a piece that's a real interesting
- 47:08arm going forwards. They traded a bunch of young
- 47:11prospects including their first round pick this in the 2025
- 47:16draft for Mackenzie Gore from the Nationals.
- 47:19Now Mackenzie Gore had 19 first half starts and was had a
- 47:24three-year A and a 12 WHIP and 138 KS.
- 47:28He was a no brainer All Star but after the All Star break.
- 47:33He should spend. Mackenzie Gore that most of us
- 47:36remembered from previous years. He went one and seven with A7
- 47:40ERAA, 17 WHIP and still struck out a bunch of guys, but people
- 47:45lit him up. Jekyll and Hyde type of
- 47:49strikeout pitcher here. It just kind of came through
- 47:53again. Gavin Fine, he's a third
- 47:54baseman. He was the first round pick.
- 47:56He's the big name in this deal. Listen, Kenzie Gore, he he has
- 48:01good stuff. He's going to be playing behind
- 48:04a great pitcher and Jacob degrom, veteran pitchers that
- 48:07can help him out. I think he's going to be fine.
- 48:10And and I like what the Rangers have done all season, all
- 48:12offseason. They've added some bats, they've
- 48:15added some pitching. They've done what they needed to
- 48:17do. And I think the Rangers are
- 48:19dangerous. I think they're probably the
- 48:21most dangerous team in their division with all the
- 48:24acquisitions they've made this offseason.
- 48:26So I like the Mackenzie Gore move it.
- 48:28It's definitely something that you you could look at and and
- 48:31add to the rotation, which they definitely need depth in.
- 48:33Yeah, it's. One of those guys you look at
- 48:35high strikeout, maybe he's just a home run rescue.
- 48:37Saw that with Dylan sees. You've seen that with Noah
- 48:41Syndergaard when he was in his peak, Like sometimes that.
- 48:43Happens. They had someone last year that
- 48:44was like that too. Yeah, and a lot of the reason I
- 48:47like. Played for the Yankees.
- 48:48Played for the Red Sox. Yeah, a lot of the guys that
- 48:50Evaldi, yeah, that's why same guy, that's why I was going to
- 48:53bring up like Evaldi. Give me involved in the playoffs
- 48:58though. Yes, we're not talking about
- 49:00that. I'm not talking about the
- 49:01playoffs, John. Is that that he has in the
- 49:03playoffs? Give me that all day.
- 49:05But I was more talking about the fact that they needed a young
- 49:07guy to really grow that cord. If they have the guys that are
- 49:11injury prone or guys of the future to do that, I I trust the
- 49:14Ranger system to kind of make that thing work in addition to
- 49:16like rebirthing of ALDI too. Also, John Grade was a guy that
- 49:19was under under raid for a while that they Raven like work.
- 49:22I think the system is good for this, even with a new manager,
- 49:24with Skip Schumacher we'll say, but I think the Rangers analytic
- 49:27department is a lot better at. Developing the pitching yeah, I
- 49:30see why is brilliant. I I was I was so fortunate to
- 49:34play against him, but then be his teammate.
- 49:37See why thinks outside of the box and like he he's so smart,
- 49:42but he doesn't let things such as numbers get in the way of the
- 49:47move that he makes. And I I just if I had an
- 49:52opportunity to to be in the Rangers organization with
- 49:55somebody like that, that lead in the way that he's, I guess
- 50:00making moves and doing it in a chess match instead of a checker
- 50:05game. Cy is great and he he has all
- 50:08control and and he is he is one of the most brilliant men that
- 50:12I've been around. And to see him in the game of
- 50:15baseball and he gave me one of the best compliments I've ever
- 50:19had in my career. No, it didn't give me a toe job,
- 50:23but he just was like, man, you repeat your delivery And I was
- 50:29like, my delivery sucks. Like I would never teach us to
- 50:32anybody. That's just the way I throw.
- 50:34And he's like, but you repeat it.
- 50:35That's why you're successful. And that one over like that good
- 50:40and that smart. And now to see him succeed.
- 50:43Obviously when a World Series and now make moves that some
- 50:47people like don't think like, oh, this really makes sense.
- 50:51He he thinks about it before anybody thinks about it.
- 50:53And that's why the Rangers organization is going to be in
- 50:58in very good hand for a long time.
- 51:00This makes my pecker hard. All right, we got one more guys
- 51:04and that is the Baseball Hall of Fame.
- 51:07I know it was you guys talked about it earlier in the week
- 51:10with Carlos Beltran and Andrew Jones getting in.
- 51:13But I want to talk about the guys that climbed big
- 51:16percentages that are going to be the likely ones that we look at
- 51:20going forwards at getting in. So Chase Utley had the biggest
- 51:25climb to 59 point 1%. Again, you need 75% to get in,
- 51:32so Beltran got in that 84.2. Andrew Jones had a 78.4.
- 51:37Utley was third at 59.1, which was an increase in almost 20%
- 51:43from his previous year. Looks like he's going to get in.
- 51:47The next highest was Andy Pettitte.
- 51:49Andy Pettitte went up to 48 1/2%, up from 27.9.
- 51:56That's a big deal and King Felix a massive gain up to 46.1% from
- 52:0220%. Other names up there that have
- 52:05kind of hung around this value. Bobby Abreu actually jumped a
- 52:09little bit, but a rods at 40%. Manny Ramirez just under 40.
- 52:13Bobby Abreu AT30I Interesting numbers.
- 52:17I like Chase Hudley. Utley.
- 52:19I couldn't stand playing him in the World Series, but this guy
- 52:21can hit. He was a great defender.
- 52:23It was one of the best timely hitters we've ever seen in the
- 52:26last 20 years. That guy can hit and, and King
- 52:29Felix, I, I, he was so hard to, to watch play against the
- 52:33Yankees because you always kill the Yankees.
- 52:35You always completely dominated the New York Yankees in, in
- 52:38Seattle and at Yankee Stadium. But the guy that really sticks
- 52:43out to me is Andy Pettitte and Andy Pettitte 48%.
- 52:46This is this is one of the best playoff pitchers the Yankees
- 52:50have ever had. One of the greatest
- 52:52personalities, yes, he did HCH and he admitted to it.
- 52:56He did. He did do bad things, but he
- 52:59admitted to it and it came back and he was still a dominant
- 53:02force. He helped so many young Yankee
- 53:05pitchers like Joppa Chamberlain. He's helped a lot of people out
- 53:08over the years. He goes and he helps the Yankees
- 53:11at spring training. This is a great person and a
- 53:14very likable person. He should be in the Hall of Fame
- 53:17and he is close to 300 wins. I mean, how many guys can you
- 53:21remember has as many wins and as his many wins in the playoffs is
- 53:25Andy Bennett? It's this, this was fun.
- 53:28It was like I text Chipper, I text Andrew.
- 53:33He was obviously a teammate and you know, it's about time like
- 53:37they they got there, they got their due.
- 53:40Felix was always fun. It's his numbers speak for
- 53:44himself. Chase.
- 53:45Chase was never a fun at bat for me.
- 53:48Never a fun at bat for me. He didn't do well off me, but it
- 53:53was never fun because I did. He was just, he was squirrely in
- 53:57the box to me, like it was just something I could never figure
- 54:01out. But I always had decent success
- 54:03against him. But those guys climbing and
- 54:07everything. But I'll touch on Pettit and
- 54:10obviously, and he was very special to me and the fact that
- 54:14he taught me how to be a father and be a baseball player at the
- 54:19same time. I literally have his number
- 54:20tattooed on my arm because it's that somebody that means
- 54:24something to me. And yes, he admitted he was like
- 54:27when he said he did it one time. If there is anybody that I
- 54:31believe in this world, and I've played with a lot of guy that he
- 54:34said he did it one time, he did it one time.
- 54:38And that's just that's just who he is.
- 54:40Like he is he is salt of the earth.
- 54:43He is one of the best human beings I've ever met that I've
- 54:45been around with and still to this day, like birthdays always
- 54:51attack, always a text me and him and he's just deserving because
- 54:58you look at his numbers, look at his postseason.
- 55:02The dude has a whole career in the postseason, like you could
- 55:07say in the postseason, obviously mode there, but Andy Pettitte
- 55:11and John Smoltz and both of the guys that I just mentioned
- 55:14before are in the Hall of Fame. Andy Pettitte deserves to be in
- 55:18the Hall of Fame. Yeah, Yeah, Any pen and I, we we
- 55:22talked about that last year. I think it was with Jeff Nelson
- 55:25or one of the other Yankees gets it.
- 55:26I think it was that, yeah, somebody like that with a good
- 55:29playoff track record, it still was steady enough in the regular
- 55:31season. Steady.
- 55:32He had over 250 wins I think. And somebody like that
- 55:35definitely deserves to be in the Hall of Fame for sure.
- 55:37So hopefully you get the bigger climb the next time.
- 55:39King Felix, I think should be in again, peak value you're looking
- 55:42at just didn't have the longevity the same way.
- 55:44But he was the top three pitcher in baseball at his best.
- 55:47So again, that's I think something that should be
- 55:49rewarded. We'll see if these new, newer
- 55:50writers and these newer voters rewarded Chase Utley.
- 55:52One of my guys I couldn't stand as a Mets fan.
- 55:55He. Was but speedy that's that's
- 55:57that's to where like we kind of touched on with Brian Hoke and
- 56:01and those guys that have now like have both yeah Internet.
- 56:04I think the younger, the younger generation now is, is like
- 56:09having boats where I think that climb that you saw that you
- 56:13pointed out fish is perfectly accurate.
- 56:17What is happening now with the voters and and and their votes
- 56:21is because they actually got to see him.
- 56:24Well, let's and they got to see their value.
- 56:25Let's hope that Barry Bonds at some point gets in and Roger
- 56:30Clemens and obviously Alex Rodriguez, who I know he has 40%
- 56:35and I know he's done a lot of bad things.
- 56:38And a lot of people don't like Alec, don't like don't like
- 56:41Alex. But Alex was one of the greatest
- 56:44baseball players of all time. He's he's going to go to the
- 56:47Hall of Fame as an analyst. He's the best analyst right now
- 56:49in baseball. I don't care what anybody says.
- 56:51I want to hear Alex Rodriguez. I don't want to hear Derek
- 56:53Jeter. I don't want to hear David
- 56:54Ortiz. I don't want to hear anybody
- 56:56else. I want to hear what he has to
- 56:57say because the guy knows baseball.
- 56:59The guy knows everything, the insurance and the outs of the
- 57:02game. He studies baseball as good as
- 57:04anybody. So that's the guy I want to see.
- 57:06So that's my opinion. All right, ladies and gentlemen,
- 57:10my deuce of the day. The deuce of the day.
- 57:13You log, not a log. I don't have a log but.
- 57:24Oh my deuce of the day, ladies and gentlemen, this is a doozy.
- 57:28Heather McPhee, the NFLP as associate general counsel since
- 57:342009, revealed in a court filing that the union fired her at
- 57:40December 30th. The dismissal came less than two
- 57:43weeks after she sued the union. It's formerly former it's former
- 57:49executive and director Lloyd Howell junior and two current
- 57:54senior executives for allegedly conspiracy, you know, conspiracy
- 58:00to keep her from corporating with cooperating with a year
- 58:04long federal criminal inquiry into the union finances.
- 58:09You know, it's so funny and I, I mentioned this because Fish
- 58:12wanted me to, to pick something and I I had to look at
- 58:15something. And this story seems to be a
- 58:17story right now with the NFL and the NFL is going to get into a
- 58:20lot of trouble for this. The NFL, we all know what
- 58:24happened with the shooting a couple of years ago or a year
- 58:27and a half ago and how the NFL and Roger Goodell handled that.
- 58:30They didn't handle it very well. And now you're seeing this.
- 58:33They're firing guys because of conspiracies and criminal
- 58:37inquiries. And and now all of a sudden
- 58:39they're firing a female and you know what they're going to do.
- 58:42You know what her lawyers are going to do?
- 58:43They're going to say, well, it was a sexist, you know, firing.
- 58:47It was this. It was that the NF LS going to
- 58:49get in a lot of trouble for this.
- 58:51And it it's it to me, it's very fitting because the NFL do not
- 58:54know how to control some of the executives and some of the
- 58:57owners don't know how to control some of their players.
- 59:00And now you're hearing this story.
- 59:02I I'm sure this story is going to grow.
- 59:03There's going to be legs and there's going to be something
- 59:05grown that we haven't heard about this story and it's just
- 59:08going to continue to grow and grow and grow.
- 59:10So very interesting story. I read it in bits and pieces and
- 59:16Heather McPhee is going to get herself a lot of money because
- 59:20the NFL is, has, has a lot of a lot of information they're going
- 59:25to have to bring out. Because when you fire 2, you
- 59:28know, 2 executives and then fire her.
- 59:30It's it, it sounds like they're trying to hide something.
- 59:34So it's a typical NFL fashion. As always, thank you to all the
- 59:39Apple and Spotify fans from the audio and video.
- 59:42Thank you to TikTok, Instagram X, all the YouTube channels,
- 59:47everybody that follows job in the mouth, all all our different
- 59:51profile names and everything like that.

- 1:00:15on a website, Worldwide Sports Radio Network.
- 1:00:17We will be back on Monday. Who do we have on all?
- 1:00:20Right, so we have a a new guy Raiders running back.
- 1:00:23He's currently on the league right now.
- 1:00:24His name is Chris Collier. He's actually from Long Island,
- 1:00:26went to, grew up in Hempstead, went to Cedar Point or
- 1:00:29Cedarhurst. I think it is high school.
- 1:00:31He's one of the Raiders backup running backs.
- 1:00:33He'll be joining us at 8:45 and then on Thursday.
- 1:00:35Time to be determined is a guy that's currently in the NFL,
- 1:00:38that's one of our favorites, and Mr. Foye Luwikin.
- 1:00:40We'll see what time eventually. Foye.
- 1:00:42Foye will be back on. He's going to be joining us.
- 1:00:44We could talk about the Jaguars. He had a great season this year.
- 1:00:47He was one of the best tacklers again in the NFL.
- 1:00:51He's an elite player. He really is.
- 1:00:53And Foye loves coming on the show and we love getting him on
- 1:00:56the show. So we'll we'll get into the
- 1:00:58Jaguars and his new coach what Travis Hunter, we're playing
- 1:01:03with Travis Hunter in his first year the Gremlin and what is his
- 1:01:07thoughts next year with their with the season falling short,
- 1:01:10how does he feel about next season and if they have a chance
- 1:01:13to win a Super Bowl? So we'll get into that with
- 1:01:15Foyer on Thursday. All right, ladies and gentlemen,
- 1:01:18that's it for our show. Speedy, I have anything to say.
