- 0:37Speaker 4: So boys, yo's that man? My finger hurts?
- 0:40Speaker 3: Man? Oh, we went to Auburn yesterday and we were
- 0:43Speaker 3: jump ball and my hand was hit so hard?
- 0:47Speaker 4: Do it not by Eddie? And so you don't know
- 0:50Speaker 4: it was me? It wasn't you. It was I'm strong too,
- 0:53Speaker 4: you know.
- 0:53Speaker 3: And I remember coming down and going oh so bad.
- 0:56Speaker 3: And then at the end Broom, who was tossing us
- 0:59Speaker 3: the ball, who's their center basically my room. Yeah, he
- 1:02Speaker 3: was like, uh, they hit somebody's hand, and I'm like,
- 1:06Speaker 3: oh god, I'm like it might have been me I'm like, oh.
- 1:08Speaker 4: No, you did say that it killed my finger. So
- 1:13Speaker 4: I'm here. I'm injured, but I'm in Hey.
- 1:15Speaker 1: Man, it's been like twenty four hours, like you might
- 1:18Speaker 1: be really hurt.
- 1:19Speaker 3: No, it's probably just jammed up real bad. But the
- 1:21Speaker 3: whole knuckle has swollen.
- 1:22Speaker 5: How did he hit it?
- 1:23Speaker 3: Though, Well, don't know, didn't see it. I think I
- 1:25Speaker 3: closed my eyes when I jump ball, so I don't know.
- 1:26Speaker 4: I didn't say anything. Shouldn't do that. I know, I
- 1:28Speaker 4: need to review the footage.
- 1:30Speaker 5: We'll see.
- 1:30Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:31Speaker 3: Finally, it's probably just like a think. Those guys are
- 1:34Speaker 3: so big it's crazy monster. So I was before I
- 1:39Speaker 3: before he came on, I was reading the story about
- 1:40Speaker 3: Rock Party where Kyle Shanahan tried to get Tom Brady
- 1:43Speaker 3: out of retirement this year to come and play OH
- 1:46Speaker 3: for San Francisco in her hometown team, and they went
- 1:48Speaker 3: to Party and they were like, hey, if he comes,
- 1:51Speaker 3: you're gonna have to back him up for this year.
- 1:53Speaker 3: And Party was like, all right, I get it, he's
- 1:55Speaker 3: the greatest of all time, but like we were a
- 1:57Speaker 3: game away from last year.
- 1:59Speaker 4: Yeah, So I thought that was interesting that it's even out.
- 2:02Speaker 5: That just got just came out. Huh, Yeah, that's weird.
- 2:05Speaker 3: Yeah, Kyle Shanahan tried getting Tom Brady out of retirement
- 2:08Speaker 3: to be their.
- 2:08Speaker 4: Starter last season. Who would leak that?
- 2:10Speaker 3: Yeah, well that's what I'm saying. I mean, may I
- 2:13Speaker 3: don't know because brock Party's talking about it. But I
- 2:15Speaker 3: don't think brock Party's one that raised his hand and
- 2:17Speaker 3: was like, I have a story to tell.
- 2:18Speaker 4: You want to keep your job, you don't do that,
- 2:20Speaker 4: he said.
- 2:20Speaker 3: I remember him saying, if we can get Tom Brady,
- 2:22Speaker 3: we're gonna try to get him. And I was like, yeah,
- 2:24Speaker 3: he's the goat, I get it. But something deep down
- 2:25Speaker 3: inside me was like, dude, I just showed you I
- 2:26Speaker 3: can play well in the system. And we were one
- 2:28Speaker 3: game away from the super Bowl. More than anything, I
- 2:31Speaker 3: was like, okay, now let's go.
- 2:33Speaker 4: Yeah. So that's an interesting story.
- 2:36Speaker 3: And Brady was just joking about he almost came out
- 2:39Speaker 3: of retirement again, but I didn't know he was like serious.
- 2:42Speaker 3: But I guess that must have been something that possibly
- 2:46Speaker 3: could have happened in Shanahan's mind.
- 2:48Speaker 1: It's interesting that he saw Purdy as still a concern
- 2:51Speaker 1: for that position, like, I mean.
- 2:53Speaker 4: Not concert, No, it's Tom Brady. It's not party. It's
- 2:55Speaker 4: not party. What do you mean? It wouldn't matter.
- 2:56Speaker 7: Who it was.
- 2:56Speaker 1: You wouldn't even think about getting a new quarterback, even
- 2:59Speaker 1: if it was old rusty Tom Brady. You wouldn't even
- 3:02Speaker 1: think about it unless you have question marks over your
- 3:04Speaker 1: current quarterback.
- 3:05Speaker 3: There's only like five or six quarterbacks that you probably
- 3:07Speaker 3: wouldn't replace for Tom Brady for one year, really probably. Yeah,
- 3:10Speaker 3: I mean the A Listers And that's yeah. Then that's it,
- 3:14Speaker 3: the A Listers.
- 3:15Speaker 4: That's it.
- 3:15Speaker 1: Because if I had, like, if you have two, I
- 3:17Speaker 1: put Tom Brady in. Yeah, sure da sure, Well see
- 3:21Speaker 1: that's what I'm talking about. No, yeah, yeah, okay, I would,
- 3:25Speaker 1: I would, I would, but has question marks about that.
- 3:28Speaker 3: Okay, but there's question marks about everybody except for Tom Holmes. Yeah,
- 3:33Speaker 3: that's it, Josh Allen, what do you mean he's lost
- 3:36Speaker 3: again again?
- 3:36Speaker 4: That's the Mahome question.
- 3:37Speaker 3: Okay, but there are question marks. There's question marks about everybody.
- 3:40Speaker 1: Lamar Jackson he gets injured every third game, is the only.
- 3:43Speaker 4: Except this year he hasn't.
- 3:45Speaker 3: It's been awesome, But Joe I would, no question, have
- 3:50Speaker 3: no question The Bills kicker deactivated to social media. Tyler
- 3:55Speaker 3: bes Yeah. The thing is even if he makes it,
- 3:59Speaker 3: here's the thing, Dig's drop the ball.
- 4:00Speaker 4: Sure, big ball.
- 4:01Speaker 3: Sure, So let's look at there are multiple Yes, we
- 4:06Speaker 3: remember wide right and the Norwood.
- 4:08Speaker 5: Kick that just Jim Nance's call was.
- 4:12Speaker 3: It reminded every one of it, so it became a story.
- 4:14Speaker 3: But again, the Chiefs would have had time to execute
- 4:18Speaker 3: a drive and all they wouldn't needed was your a
- 4:20Speaker 3: field goal range.
- 4:21Speaker 1: Yeah, but unfortunately we're us fans, like we just remember
- 4:24Speaker 1: the end, you know, like, yeah, I think every game,
- 4:27Speaker 1: yactors every game.
- 4:29Speaker 4: Yes, but we can't just blame it on him. As
- 4:31Speaker 4: my point, and.
- 4:32Speaker 5: The two players coming out of the two minute warning, Yeah,
- 4:35Speaker 5: where Josh Allen, like, there's two throws. I was the
- 4:37Speaker 5: first one. It's just like what.
- 4:39Speaker 3: But because it was like the Normwood kick wide right, Yeah,
- 4:42Speaker 3: that's what we're remembering because that was such a cultural
- 4:45Speaker 3: sports event way way back in the day. Think about that,
- 4:48Speaker 3: and we were so young. I was Eddie was like
- 4:49Speaker 3: twenty five, but I.
- 4:51Speaker 4: Was married with kids. Buffalo lost four super Bowls in
- 4:55Speaker 4: a row. Think about that. Suck four in.
- 5:01Speaker 3: A row with a great team like Jim Kelly Therma,
- 5:04Speaker 3: Tom and Spruce Smith. I mean they were awesome, and
- 5:08Speaker 3: they got to the Super Bowl four years in a row.
- 5:10Speaker 3: They lost all four years to the Cowboys, you know,
- 5:14Speaker 3: a couple of times, two of them. Yeah, so it
- 5:17Speaker 3: sucks for Buffalo Redskins.
- 5:20Speaker 4: We don't will call them anymore. Well that's what they
- 5:21Speaker 4: were calling our words. But do you not say that now?
- 5:24Speaker 4: I'm just kidding, like wondering, like do you even say that?
- 5:27Speaker 7: No?
- 5:27Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, you can say I know anything?
- 5:29Speaker 5: Pre load the twenty three?
- 5:30Speaker 4: Right, what do they identify as? Now?
- 5:34Speaker 3: That's what we call them? Whatever they identify as now?
- 5:36Speaker 3: So yeah, I mean, listen, it's Tuesday. We're recording this,
- 5:40Speaker 3: so we don't need to do a whole last week.
- 5:42Speaker 3: That's this is what happened. But sucks for the Bills.
- 5:45Speaker 3: Let's go choose my future on the Chiefs the Ravens. Still,
- 5:48Speaker 3: I can cash out for the Ravens for like two
- 5:50Speaker 3: thousand dollars right now?
- 5:51Speaker 4: Wow, and you put in how much I can look?
- 5:56Speaker 4: Do we hit our parlay? Oh?
- 5:58Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, we'll look.
- 6:02Speaker 4: Let's do the tittle Tattle and then we'll talk about that.
- 6:04Speaker 4: Go ahead this time, stupid his name the tittle Tattle.
- 6:14Speaker 5: After losing another major player at Ohio State since Saban retired.
- 6:18Speaker 5: Would you be worried about the Dubor hire If you're
- 6:20Speaker 5: an Alabama fan, I think.
- 6:21Speaker 3: You're worried anyway, because Savean just left. It wouldn't matter
- 6:23Speaker 3: who it is and who it was, it wouldn't mattered.
- 6:26Speaker 3: But people are forgetting that. Kaylen de Boor he brought
- 6:29Speaker 3: his kid with them, the Austin matt kid, So he
- 6:32Speaker 3: transferred down. He was a top ten quarterback in the
- 6:33Speaker 3: class twenty twenty three class. So he came from Washington
- 6:37Speaker 3: down to Alabama. You know, the the Julian Sayan who
- 6:41Speaker 3: left Alabama to go to Ohio State. There's a coaching change.
- 6:45Speaker 3: I don't think as much as it's about who's coming in.
- 6:47Speaker 3: I don't think the players believing or like we hate
- 6:49Speaker 3: this guy. I think they're like, Savan's out, I'm gonna
- 6:51Speaker 3: sandwich money.
- 6:52Speaker 4: I can make somewhere else.
- 6:53Speaker 1: So oh much in money, not not winning because they
- 6:58Speaker 1: can win in Alabama with a new coach.
- 7:00Speaker 4: I don't know. Well, the new coaches went to the
- 7:02Speaker 4: National Championship Game.
- 7:03Speaker 1: Yeah, but I mean it's a whole new team, whole
- 7:05Speaker 1: new school. I don't know, it's not that replaceable where
- 7:08Speaker 1: you just wear another pair of pants. It's a whole
- 7:10Speaker 1: new deal.
- 7:12Speaker 4: Well, you're just saying words right now. Now, you say
- 7:14Speaker 4: deal when you really don't know what you're talking about,
- 7:16Speaker 4: situations on something.
- 7:17Speaker 3: It is weird to see all the Alabama kids leaving,
- 7:20Speaker 3: because they usually don't, not the good ones. Usually it's
- 7:23Speaker 3: the second tier injured players that go to other schools
- 7:26Speaker 3: to get more playing time. But I mean, I edit,
- 7:27Speaker 3: your coach leaves and everybody's eligible to go if the
- 7:30Speaker 3: coach leaves.
- 7:31Speaker 1: I mean when saman left though, I really marked that
- 7:33Speaker 1: down as like, I think the dynasty's over. It's time
- 7:36Speaker 1: for Alabama. It's just kind of re you know, just rebuild.
- 7:39Speaker 3: And if that were the case, I think they would
- 7:40Speaker 3: hire somebody younger and a coordinator maybe that they wanted
- 7:42Speaker 3: to invest the future in, instead of going and hiring
- 7:45Speaker 3: a proven coach and paying him a whole bunch of money.
- 7:46Speaker 4: It still doesn't look like a coach to me, though.
- 7:48Speaker 5: Man, not much do them.
- 7:50Speaker 4: It just looks like a dude.
- 7:51Speaker 3: You know, there was a part we were at Auburn
- 7:53Speaker 3: yesterday and we were talking to coach Pearl and me
- 7:56Speaker 3: Eddie and Coach Pearl was sitting on the couch basketball
- 7:59Speaker 3: and Eddie's like, you know, I coached ten year olds
- 8:01Speaker 3: eleven year olds and he said, he said, you know,
- 8:03Speaker 3: all coach is the same, right.
- 8:04Speaker 1: Yeah, he was saying, you know, it's like barbecuing, like
- 8:06Speaker 1: and everyone knows how to grill.
- 8:08Speaker 4: And he was like and he's like, yeah, yeah, I'm
- 8:09Speaker 4: like a coach. Yeah, I'm like you.
- 8:10Speaker 1: And then he told me, he's like, like, you're a
- 8:12Speaker 1: good coach. And I said, you're right, I am a
- 8:13Speaker 1: good coach. He's like, now you don't know. He wants
- 8:18Speaker 1: me right into it. Yeah, he's like, you don't know.
- 8:19Speaker 5: Crap, it's so good.
- 8:22Speaker 4: Yeah, So that's fine. Alabama.
- 8:26Speaker 3: It's an unfamiliar place to be because you've had stability,
- 8:29Speaker 3: instability with the greatest college coach of all time. But
- 8:32Speaker 3: it's a pretty good backup plan. There was initially there
- 8:34Speaker 3: was gonna have to come eventually. Anyway, he can't live forever,
- 8:37Speaker 3: you know.
- 8:37Speaker 5: How States they're having a couple of big weeks.
- 8:40Speaker 3: Ye saw where they spent thirteen thirteen million bucks or so, yeah, listen,
- 8:45Speaker 3: you got it.
- 8:45Speaker 4: Spend it. We only hate because our team's not spending
- 8:48Speaker 4: it exactly. We don't have it.
- 8:49Speaker 3: All right, next question, all right, we all know you're
- 8:51Speaker 3: big guy bakeer guy.
- 8:54Speaker 5: All right, you want the Bucks to sign him to do
- 8:56Speaker 5: an extension if you're a fan Bucks fan?
- 8:59Speaker 4: Who else are they going to say?
- 9:00Speaker 3: I mean the answer is yes, because I'm a big
- 9:02Speaker 3: Baker guy. And he also had career a year like
- 9:05Speaker 3: he had better stats this year. He had four thousand
- 9:10Speaker 3: yards passing than I think he's ever had, twenty eight touchdowns,
- 9:13Speaker 3: ten interceptions.
- 9:14Speaker 4: He played well.
- 9:15Speaker 3: I don't think he's a top five or seven guy
- 9:17Speaker 3: according to most people.
- 9:18Speaker 1: Me.
- 9:18Speaker 3: Yeah, number one, big Baker guy. But yeah, I don't
- 9:21Speaker 3: know who else they could have won that game. They
- 9:24Speaker 3: could have been Detroit. They had a shot to win
- 9:27Speaker 3: that game. But but him and Mike Evans are are
- 9:31Speaker 3: free agents.
- 9:32Speaker 5: What And then Baker threw a pick he had.
- 9:34Speaker 4: To, but he was throwing dimes before. He was just chunking. Yeah,
- 9:39Speaker 4: so I mean he threw he relaxed.
- 9:41Speaker 3: Man, I would sign him, I would, you know, I
- 9:45Speaker 3: don't know that i'd pay him forty million dollars. But
- 9:48Speaker 3: if you're Tampa, you had a good run with him,
- 9:50Speaker 3: and let's go. I'm a big Baker guy. So I
- 9:52Speaker 3: say he signed him up.
- 9:53Speaker 5: Like Daniel Jones money, you know, like that, Well, he's he's.
- 9:57Speaker 3: Gonna want Daniel Jones money, and yeah, because you'll take
- 10:00Speaker 3: him over Deale's probably have to give him that kind
- 10:01Speaker 3: of money.
- 10:02Speaker 4: What tier is that?
- 10:03Speaker 5: Thirty five MILLI I believe.
- 10:04Speaker 3: That's probably upper end of what he should get because
- 10:07Speaker 3: they're just aren't quarterbacks.
- 10:10Speaker 4: That's the problem.
- 10:11Speaker 3: If you get one that's pretty good, you gotta pay
- 10:13Speaker 3: him like he's really good. One that's really good, you
- 10:14Speaker 3: gotta pa him like he's Hall of Famer because there
- 10:17Speaker 3: just are a shortage of quarterbacks.
- 10:18Speaker 4: We saw this year with every freaking backup and it sucked.
- 10:22Speaker 3: You should get Tommy DeVito, Tommy right right?
- 10:27Speaker 5: Yeah, Daniel Jones is forty million a year.
- 10:30Speaker 4: Yeah, I don't think he'd pay him that.
- 10:31Speaker 5: And he looks like he's about tenth.
- 10:34Speaker 4: Right behind Dak And what are the Giants even gonna do?
- 10:37Speaker 5: I know they got a bunch of mo They losing
- 10:40Speaker 5: Saquon to the Cowboys?
- 10:43Speaker 4: Oh man, that would be hilarious. That are they losing them?
- 10:47Speaker 3: We don't know yet because they basically put the tag
- 10:50Speaker 3: on him but then gave him more money than the tag.
- 10:52Speaker 4: Remember next question.
- 10:53Speaker 5: All right after the forty nine ers barely one on Saturday,
- 10:56Speaker 5: were you more impressed with Party leading the team to
- 10:58Speaker 5: a game winning drive or cancerned with his play the
- 11:00Speaker 5: rest of the game.
- 11:01Speaker 3: I wasn't concerned with his play. It was raining hard.
- 11:05Speaker 3: It was raining hard, and what they don't play in
- 11:09Speaker 3: the rain?
- 11:10Speaker 4: It was raining hard.
- 11:11Speaker 3: The conditions were not that of a game where you're
- 11:13Speaker 3: gonna throw for three hundred yards, four touchdowns, no interceptions.
- 11:17Speaker 4: It was a messy game.
- 11:18Speaker 3: They couldn't hold onto the ball at times when they're
- 11:20Speaker 3: trying to run the ball, like pitching it.
- 11:22Speaker 4: You know. He came out with a glove. Yeah, they
- 11:24Speaker 4: took the glove off.
- 11:25Speaker 3: And even as he was dropping back, he was drying
- 11:27Speaker 3: his hand off, Like in the middle of dropping back,
- 11:29Speaker 3: he would be drying his hand off. So the conditions
- 11:32Speaker 3: were not good, But when it mattered, he came through.
- 11:36Speaker 3: Every quarterback he's held to a higher standard because he's
- 11:39Speaker 3: Brock Party drifted seventh forty so good.
- 11:42Speaker 4: Yeah, they're so good. They hold him to a higher
- 11:43Speaker 4: standard than they would anybody else.
- 11:45Speaker 3: Josh Allen screwed up, had drives that sucked, My homes
- 11:48Speaker 3: had drives that weren't.
- 11:49Speaker 4: So win games. That's it he is.
- 11:53Speaker 3: I kind of felt bad for him because every time
- 11:55Speaker 3: he plays a good quarterback, it's like Brock Party eight
- 11:56Speaker 3: hundred thousand.
- 11:58Speaker 6: Yeah yeah.
- 11:59Speaker 1: His salary, yeah yeah.
- 12:01Speaker 5: Daniel Jones forty million?
- 12:02Speaker 4: Yeah. Man, why do they do that to me? Like
- 12:05Speaker 4: that's embarrassing?
- 12:06Speaker 3: I mean, and it's not even like his stats were
- 12:08Speaker 3: twenty three for thirty nine or two fifty two in
- 12:10Speaker 3: a touchdown?
- 12:11Speaker 4: Okay, what's that's good?
- 12:13Speaker 3: But yes, it looks sloppy and people want to take
- 12:15Speaker 3: shots at party, but it was a bad that the
- 12:17Speaker 3: weather was terrible. What's crazy about the cameras the NFL
- 12:20Speaker 3: When they're doing that full shot of the field, you
- 12:21Speaker 3: don't even see rain's right, But when they do that
- 12:23Speaker 3: one shot, we're not looking at the boxer and the
- 12:25Speaker 3: lights and they show the light pouring down. Yeah, because
- 12:28Speaker 3: it doesn't look like it's raining. Watching the regular.
- 12:30Speaker 1: Game, when you see water droplets falling off their helmets, yeah, no,
- 12:33Speaker 1: it's a dreat.
- 12:34Speaker 4: And you can't even see the rain except they're coming
- 12:35Speaker 4: off their d their helmets. All right, what else you got?
- 12:37Speaker 5: Last one here with the Bills getting knocked out again,
- 12:40Speaker 5: is it time for them to move on from Sean McDermott.
- 12:45Speaker 4: If the Cowboys aren't moving on from Mike McCarthy, the
- 12:49Speaker 4: Bills should not move on. It sucks. That's that's his kryptonite,
- 12:53Speaker 4: Patrick mahone.
- 12:54Speaker 3: Not regular season he's got an edge over Yeah, the
- 12:56Speaker 3: regular season, but playoffs that's his kryptonite. But no, I
- 13:01Speaker 3: don't think you fire mcdar. What happens too is you
- 13:05Speaker 3: play more, you learn more. You you know, you have
- 13:08Speaker 3: more experience that hopefully that helps. But the Chiefs man,
- 13:12Speaker 3: you just can't to be the man. You got to
- 13:14Speaker 3: beat the man. And nobody's beat the man, and maybe
- 13:17Speaker 3: the Ravens will. But even now, I take the Chiefs.
- 13:21Speaker 3: I have both of them. Those are my two teams
- 13:23Speaker 3: that have left. I'm still trying to decide what I
- 13:25Speaker 3: want to do with that, Like do I want to
- 13:27Speaker 3: cash one out and pray for the other one?
- 13:29Speaker 4: Do I just hold them both? Yeah? It just to
- 13:32Speaker 4: me it's like which one's worth more money? Right? Like, well,
- 13:34Speaker 4: I have like six chief bets.
- 13:37Speaker 3: Oh okay, because when they were struggling, I just kept
- 13:40Speaker 3: putting more and more money on them.
- 13:41Speaker 4: But not nothing crazy like one hundred bucks of time
- 13:44Speaker 4: or something. But if the Chiefs win, you'll make more.
- 13:46Speaker 4: I'm about to find out, okay, because I haven't even looked.
- 13:48Speaker 3: I didn't want to look, and Jing said even though
- 13:50Speaker 3: they weren't playing, So really, there's no way to jinxit,
- 13:52Speaker 3: all right, face id Oh what's my password?
- 13:55Speaker 5: Hold on?
- 13:55Speaker 4: They don't say it out loud. You're on the mic. Yeah,
- 14:01Speaker 4: thank you.
- 14:01Speaker 3: Please hold one second as I.
- 14:03Speaker 1: I'll talk to Kevin over here. Did you know they
- 14:05Speaker 1: had two different gloves for rain and not and like what?
- 14:08Speaker 6: Yeah?
- 14:08Speaker 4: Yeah, they have different golf gloves too for rain.
- 14:10Speaker 8: Do you know that?
- 14:11Speaker 4: Oh? I didn't know that they do.
- 14:12Speaker 1: Yeah, apparently you know how like the receiving gloves are
- 14:15Speaker 1: all glossy kind of like like mine. Yeah, you know,
- 14:17Speaker 1: like sticky or whatever, but when it rains, they're softer,
- 14:19Speaker 1: almost like soft leather.
- 14:21Speaker 5: So like when quarterbacks are wearing gloves during the game,
- 14:23Speaker 5: it's those ones, not the receiver ones. Yeah, correct, different ones.
- 14:25Speaker 4: Correct.
- 14:26Speaker 8: I didn't know that.
- 14:27Speaker 4: Man, Okay, here we go. Oh, you didn't wear gloves
- 14:30Speaker 4: in college. That's probably why you don't.
- 14:31Speaker 5: Know high school?
- 14:32Speaker 4: Oh, high school?
- 14:33Speaker 5: Yeah, I couldn't wear gloves offense because the coach or
- 14:36Speaker 5: because yeah, our coaches would not let the offensive players
- 14:38Speaker 5: wear gloves.
- 14:39Speaker 4: Just make it. What about the helmets that they can
- 14:41Speaker 4: have hard helmets or you wearing.
- 14:42Speaker 5: A leather just the one bar though, one bar?
- 14:45Speaker 3: All right, Kansas City Chiefs, the buy the Kansaity Chiefs
- 14:48Speaker 3: is not really that much. They expect them to lose.
- 14:51Speaker 3: So I'll just read to you what I have. Fifty
- 14:53Speaker 3: bucks on Kansas City to win four fifty, but the
- 14:55Speaker 3: cash out seventy one dollars on this one. Here's fifty
- 14:58Speaker 3: on Kansas City cash out seven one. Here's Kansas City
- 15:02Speaker 3: wager two hundred, cash out two fifty five.
- 15:05Speaker 4: Here's what's to win though on those oh.
- 15:07Speaker 1: Sixteen hundred, and the other one was four point fifty,
- 15:11Speaker 1: and then was the other one.
- 15:14Speaker 4: Yeah, oh you want that too. Yeah, I'm just kind
- 15:15Speaker 4: of added it out.
- 15:16Speaker 3: Okay, Cancity Chiefs fifty bucks to win four to fifty,
- 15:20Speaker 3: two hundred bucks to win, sixteen hundred, one hundred bucks
- 15:23Speaker 3: to win eight hundred.
- 15:24Speaker 4: Okay, those three bets.
- 15:28Speaker 3: Five hundred to win two thousand, six hundred and twenty five.
- 15:32Speaker 4: See there's more. Keep them COVID.
- 15:34Speaker 3: That cash out is not even up to full because
- 15:37Speaker 3: that cash out is I bet five hundred and the
- 15:40Speaker 3: cashouts four to fifty and they're not in four teams.
- 15:43Speaker 3: Oh wow, they don't think the Cantay Chief's gonna do it? No,
- 15:46Speaker 3: have they not heard to be the man?
- 15:47Speaker 4: You gotta beat the.
- 15:48Speaker 5: Man obviously not mine listening to whistles.
- 15:51Speaker 3: And then there's one more in Baltimore. No, Baltimore. So
- 15:55Speaker 3: I put two fifty on Baltimore to win three thousand
- 15:59Speaker 3: seven or fifty bucks, but the cash out for that
- 16:01Speaker 3: is one thousand and thirty six dollars.
- 16:05Speaker 4: You only have one bet on that. Okay, it sounds
- 16:09Speaker 4: like I have more money invested in the Chiefs.
- 16:11Speaker 1: Well, after all those little beds maybe not well with
- 16:14Speaker 1: the winnings if I win, Yeah, what's that significant?
- 16:16Speaker 4: Well you have?
- 16:18Speaker 1: So for Baltimore you could win five thousand, seven hundred.
- 16:21Speaker 4: No, I can't that right?
- 16:23Speaker 5: What is it how much fifty to win two thousand something?
- 16:27Speaker 4: I can't read my handwriting? Thirty seven fifty oh thirty seven? Okay?
- 16:30Speaker 4: So yeah, I got thirty seven fifty thirty some fifty.
- 16:32Speaker 1: And for the Chiefs, you the potential win it's five thousand,
- 16:35Speaker 1: four hundred and seventy five. So if you're asking me
- 16:39Speaker 1: as your best friend here, cash out Baltimore and pray
- 16:42Speaker 1: for the Chiefs. Correct, that's what I would do.
- 16:47Speaker 5: But if you're asking me.
- 16:48Speaker 4: You let them ride, I'm going to lose one of them.
- 16:52Speaker 5: I know, yeah, you got it, but it's not I
- 16:55Speaker 5: might lose both.
- 16:56Speaker 4: Of them, right if they end up losing in the NFC.
- 16:58Speaker 1: So you don't want that, Let's get some money back.
- 17:02Speaker 1: Let's get some instance back.
- 17:03Speaker 5: I mean you'll make if you cash out Baltimore and
- 17:06Speaker 5: aws like without a little over a thousand bucks. Yeah,
- 17:09Speaker 5: you'll make a little over a thousand bucks. That's pretty
- 17:11Speaker 5: dang good.
- 17:12Speaker 1: I think you feel better about yourself with a little
- 17:14Speaker 1: bit of smiles in your pocket.
- 17:15Speaker 4: And then I can just root for Kansas City. You
- 17:17Speaker 4: can put that money into Kansas City.
- 17:19Speaker 1: Boy, oh boy, he's like, he's like, go to the casino,
- 17:22Speaker 1: play crassiest game ever.
- 17:25Speaker 4: You get a shirt made, Jimmy, do it? What the
- 17:29Speaker 4: cash out Baltimore City. That's that's my vote, Devin. Yeah, Okay,
- 17:34Speaker 4: cash out confirm and then let's go cheos baby got it, arrowhead.
- 17:42Speaker 6: Baby, let's go.
- 17:44Speaker 4: He's not playing in Baltimore or whatever. I'm rooting for
- 17:47Speaker 4: the Chiefs anyway, though, thank you me too, now, am
- 17:49Speaker 4: me too. All the lines.
- 17:51Speaker 5: You guys won't get that out of the Linds will
- 17:52Speaker 5: be cool though.
- 17:53Speaker 4: Line's be cool. Yeah, that's cool. Okay, that's tittle tattle.

- 18:43Speaker 4: I lost. Like it's to the point now where I'm

- 18:48Speaker 1: just missed that's never a good thing.

- 19:12Speaker 3: eight seven seven eight hope and wire text ope and
- 19:14Speaker 3: y four six seven three six ' nine. I had
- 19:21Speaker 3: to watch a bit of the Buffalo Kana City game
- 19:25Speaker 3: on my phone from far away.
- 19:27Speaker 4: I watched every game. Is your TV out? What's up?
- 19:29Speaker 3: No? We have friends that came over. What I know
- 19:32Speaker 3: that in the last minute your wife invited friends. It's
- 19:35Speaker 3: our friend, it's my friend too.
- 19:36Speaker 4: You invited your friend. No, but my friend was like, hey,
- 19:40Speaker 4: do you guys want my friend?
- 19:41Speaker 3: And he had his girlfriend is like do you want
- 19:43Speaker 3: to do something on because we were gonna do something
- 19:45Speaker 3: the night before.
- 19:46Speaker 4: But the ice got us.
- 19:47Speaker 3: Okay, it's like, let's just do it. The next day,
- 19:48Speaker 3: it goes how about dinner? And I was like, yeah,
- 19:49Speaker 3: that sounds great. I'm like, oh my god, oh no.
- 19:51Speaker 4: The problem is I can't go.
- 19:54Speaker 3: No, if there were Arkansas, I could definitely raise a
- 19:58Speaker 3: flat because I do it way too much. And so
- 20:02Speaker 3: had dinner and we have a shuffle board table at
- 20:05Speaker 3: our house.
- 20:05Speaker 4: But I kept the.
- 20:06Speaker 3: Phone so I watched it, but it was tiny.
- 20:09Speaker 5: Is your friend a football fan or not?
- 20:10Speaker 4: Really? Not really?
- 20:13Speaker 3: To thank you died, I didn't watch I see I
- 20:17Speaker 3: did see it, you know for the most part.
- 20:19Speaker 4: Yeah, micro machines for sure. So do you have the
- 20:22Speaker 4: volume up?
- 20:23Speaker 7: No?
- 20:23Speaker 4: I had to like hide the fact that I was
- 20:25Speaker 4: even watching it.
- 20:26Speaker 5: Tony Romo was here Tony Romo that night.
- 20:29Speaker 4: Why he's just like a kid.
- 20:31Speaker 5: It's so funny.
- 20:32Speaker 4: Are you getting anything?
- 20:33Speaker 5: And I go through my ebbs and flows with him.
- 20:35Speaker 5: You do, I really do, Eddie, But you're a cowboy fan.
- 20:38Speaker 4: I love it.
- 20:39Speaker 5: Because sometimes I'm just like Tony, you don't need to
- 20:41Speaker 5: talk right now. It's okay not to say anything. But
- 20:43Speaker 5: he just can't help his job. No, but it's useless.
- 20:47Speaker 5: Sometimes he says nothing.
- 20:49Speaker 4: He's started.
- 20:50Speaker 5: He's just talking to talk and I'm just like, what
- 20:52Speaker 5: is this? Where is this going. Jim's just like, yeah, Tony,
- 20:55Speaker 5: I think.
- 20:55Speaker 4: He gets celebrated so much.
- 20:56Speaker 3: I got celebrated so much early that he feels now
- 20:58Speaker 3: that he has to constantly do that.
- 21:00Speaker 4: Even if he doesn't have that.
- 21:00Speaker 5: He doesn't call as many plays anymore.
- 21:02Speaker 4: Because he was getting them wrong.
- 21:03Speaker 5: Yeah, I will say that, but he still talks when.
- 21:06Speaker 3: That's why I like not to do parlays for the
- 21:08Speaker 3: same reason to stop doing that a long time ago.
- 21:11Speaker 2: The best as I don't know, Jim, the cost of
- 21:17Speaker 2: a suite at the Super Bowl, I'd like to get
- 21:20Speaker 2: you one, yeah, yeah, yeah, if you just want a
- 21:22Speaker 2: seat fifty thousand bucks.
- 21:25Speaker 3: Like at the very top or this is fifty yard line,
- 21:29Speaker 3: like yeah, it won't be at the very bottle, but
- 21:31Speaker 3: like a medium fifty yard line seat.
- 21:33Speaker 4: Then there are sweets.
- 21:34Speaker 3: Regular season, you can get a suite around twenty thousand dollars.
- 21:38Speaker 3: Because a suite has you know, like twenty or so tickets,
- 21:41Speaker 3: there's food involved, it's like luxury. If you want to
- 21:45Speaker 3: get one for the Super Bowl, it's about six hundred
- 21:47Speaker 3: thousand dollars. It's got all twenty six seats.
- 21:53Speaker 1: That's just four seats, by the way, chicken fingers, that's
- 21:56Speaker 1: just four seats in a suite.
- 21:57Speaker 4: It's him, the whole suite.
- 21:57Speaker 1: Oh my goodness, not the tweet food you get, chicken fingers,
- 22:01Speaker 1: you get, okay, But you want four seats in a
- 22:02Speaker 1: suite six hundred dollars if you want the whole twenty
- 22:05Speaker 1: six seats is two point six million.
- 22:06Speaker 4: Dollars on earth. Who has that money bible?
- 22:09Speaker 5: Somebody.
- 22:10Speaker 4: Somebody does, because they're gonna get it's gonna get paid.
- 22:13Speaker 3: The NFL is considering changing one of the worst rules
- 22:15Speaker 3: in sports, which is fumble into the end zoning.
- 22:18Speaker 4: It's so stupid, it'suid, it's so stupid.
- 22:20Speaker 1: You work all the way to get down there and
- 22:22Speaker 1: then you accidentally fumble and it goes in the end
- 22:24Speaker 1: zone and it's the turnover.
- 22:26Speaker 4: Makes no sense.
- 22:27Speaker 5: So what do you do?
- 22:29Speaker 3: Put it back the one on? No, No, I'd put
- 22:31Speaker 3: it back. You gotta have some sort of punishment. I'd
- 22:33Speaker 3: put it back at the original line of scrimmage of
- 22:36Speaker 3: that play.
- 22:37Speaker 4: Oh dude, that would hurt too. You don't lose the
- 22:40Speaker 4: ball though, Yeah, I do.
- 22:41Speaker 5: The fifteen.
- 22:42Speaker 4: Okay, I like fifteen. I was gonna say that because.
- 22:45Speaker 3: Just be uniform and either do the step two point
- 22:48Speaker 3: conversion line or the twenty or the twenty five.
- 22:51Speaker 4: Fifteen is weird. It's like a randon the random yard
- 22:54Speaker 4: line because.
- 22:55Speaker 5: Then the else is on fifteen. Let's make this rule
- 22:57Speaker 5: about the fifteen that makes sense.
- 22:59Speaker 1: It's just like a bad luck that it rolls into
- 23:02Speaker 1: the end zone. It's not even like, you know, a
- 23:05Speaker 1: skillful play, It's just it just happens to roll in
- 23:08Speaker 1: the end zone.
- 23:09Speaker 3: Yeah, I would say back at the line of scrimmage
- 23:12Speaker 3: because most of those plays where that happens, it's not
- 23:14Speaker 3: a ninety yard run and a fumble.
- 23:16Speaker 4: Occasionally it is. Yeah, but at least you don't lose
- 23:18Speaker 4: the ball. The Cowboys one was like a forty yard pass.
- 23:21Speaker 3: But at least you don't lose again. You still have possession.
- 23:24Speaker 3: It's just the next down. But yeah, it's a terrible rule,
- 23:27Speaker 3: that rule. And also how players don't get assists if
- 23:31Speaker 3: they throw a guy and he gets fouled that you
- 23:33Speaker 3: should get assist if he makes the free throws.
- 23:35Speaker 4: Totally. I'm with you on that.
- 23:36Speaker 5: Yeah, that's fair.
- 23:37Speaker 4: Yeah, because you set him up. Nobody can help. The
- 23:40Speaker 4: guy punched him in the face.
- 23:41Speaker 5: He has to make at least one.
- 23:43Speaker 3: I think he needs to make all to get the
- 23:46Speaker 3: assist if it's one or two.
- 23:48Speaker 4: But if it's just one, he's already made the two,
- 23:50Speaker 4: so you alread got the assist. So yeah, he needs
- 23:52Speaker 4: to make both shots, okay?
- 23:54Speaker 5: Or three?
- 23:55Speaker 3: Oh yeah three, Yeah, there's got to be a little
- 23:57Speaker 3: bit yeah.
- 23:58Speaker 1: Working yeah, so so yeah, I would love to see
- 24:01Speaker 1: this conversation in like the real boardroom of like all
- 24:04Speaker 1: the rule. I'd like to be having it because then
- 24:07Speaker 1: we'd be like, yeah, fifteen years, like oh why, I don't.
- 24:10Speaker 4: Know, there's nothing else. That number looks fun to write.
- 24:14Speaker 4: I get this guy out of here.
- 24:17Speaker 3: So my wife got my hat too much? Access hat cool?
- 24:21Speaker 3: So this is it's not what's just called?
- 24:25Speaker 4: Oh is that like a trucker hat? No, let me talk.
- 24:27Speaker 4: Just fabric, hold on, hold on, sit your butt down?
- 24:31Speaker 4: Were touching me? I can't see it from me. It's
- 24:33Speaker 4: not polyester. It's cotton. No, people's pants are made of
- 24:38Speaker 4: this stuff. Pants around this?
- 24:41Speaker 7: Oh?
- 24:42Speaker 9: Is it what?
- 24:42Speaker 4: I was wearing?
- 24:43Speaker 1: A quarter roy corduroy corduroy pants, corduroy hat yesterday, so
- 24:48Speaker 1: it's corduroy.
- 24:50Speaker 3: And then it says too much access and they have
- 24:52Speaker 3: a phone fing. My wife designed him.
- 24:54Speaker 1: Yeah cool, So what's the phone finger? Just a generic one?
- 24:57Speaker 4: Because I knew you wouldn't leave us. We do him
- 25:02Speaker 4: in our videos. We have phone yeah. Yeah, I know.
- 25:05Speaker 4: That's why it's there. Because on the design of our
- 25:06Speaker 4: logo we have Wow.
- 25:08Speaker 5: Yeah, I have hats for you.
- 25:11Speaker 4: We all asked about it, if you all for you.
- 25:14Speaker 4: Kevin cam was like, hey man, nice hat, and I
- 25:16Speaker 4: was like, what we have. I wasn't gonna say I
- 25:18Speaker 4: have you one. I was like, leave me alone. And
- 25:19Speaker 4: then Eddy's like, hey me want you the hat?
- 25:21Speaker 6: Yeah?
- 25:21Speaker 4: And then you and now I know why you didn't
- 25:22Speaker 4: want me to touch it. I'm going to touch my
- 25:24Speaker 4: own hat.
- 25:24Speaker 3: Yes, So I have four my wife good.
- 25:30Speaker 4: Man read you get them to take them over?
- 25:32Speaker 6: Yeah?
- 25:32Speaker 4: Absolutely, and tell your wife thank you for us. That's
- 25:34Speaker 4: really cool.
- 25:35Speaker 3: You get must to sign it. We talked about that, right, yeah,
- 25:40Speaker 3: like pulls a hat out after the interview.
- 25:42Speaker 1: I'm surprised he didn't ask Bruce Pearl for an aut
- 25:44Speaker 1: did you read?
- 25:46Speaker 5: No, Hey, he'll never live that down.
- 25:52Speaker 4: Hey, there is high quality hats.
- 25:54Speaker 5: So do we all wear these when we go on
- 25:55Speaker 5: our visit?
- 25:56Speaker 4: You know, I don't know about that yet. It is quarter.
- 25:59Speaker 4: Oh yeah, wow, they look warm, bobs. My head's never
- 26:05Speaker 4: been warmer.
- 26:05Speaker 3: Actually, winter doesn't stand a chance with this too much

- 27:37Speaker 3: can follow her at Sailor dot PFF. And so her brother,
- 27:42Speaker 3: by the way, just transferred to Miami play quarterback. No really,
- 27:46Speaker 3: that's cool, dang athletic family.
- 27:47Speaker 8: Huh.
- 27:48Speaker 1: And her dad makes liquor, yeah, bourbon right, Yeah, she's
- 27:51Speaker 1: she's taller than ius h yes, yes, right or right
- 27:56Speaker 1: like right tall as we are yeah or tall as
- 27:58Speaker 1: I am at it?
- 27:59Speaker 5: Well, two and a half. Right though we're seeing that
- 28:02Speaker 5: we're going with.
- 28:03Speaker 4: Now it definitely keeps going. So here she is Sailor Poppenbarger.
- 28:06Speaker 3: I have to start by addressing you were in a boot,
- 28:09Speaker 3: so but you're not broken.
- 28:10Speaker 8: I just watched it, not broken, Okay, yeah, you win
- 28:12Speaker 8: it for fun?
- 28:13Speaker 3: Oh sympathy because when I was in fifth grade, when
- 28:15Speaker 3: people have crutches that would come in, I'd be like,
- 28:17Speaker 3: I wish I could have crutches, but because I wanted
- 28:20Speaker 3: the sympathy that it.
- 28:21Speaker 7: Actually the boot keeps me on the court. So without
- 28:23Speaker 7: the boot, I wouldn't be playing.
- 28:25Speaker 8: What do you mean why what's the booth?
- 28:27Speaker 7: I have stress reactions in my shin. So basically, anytime
- 28:30Speaker 7: I'm not doing anything basketball related, I'm in a boot.
- 28:33Speaker 9: Really, Matt, practice I can play?
- 28:34Speaker 3: And what is that based from like a lot of
- 28:36Speaker 3: basketball through your whole life.
- 28:39Speaker 7: It's not recovering the right way, not eating the right way.
- 28:43Speaker 9: We thought that it's on me and playing a lot.
- 28:46Speaker 8: Of basketb Yeah, we felt that.
- 28:48Speaker 3: So I watched the game you guys played Florida State,
- 28:51Speaker 3: and I watch a lot of your games, but that
- 28:53Speaker 3: game you go down into Tallahassee, and I'm noticing you're
- 28:56Speaker 3: getting a lot of rebounds.
- 28:57Speaker 8: The game had finished.
- 28:58Speaker 3: You guys have want it's a big win over top
- 29:00Speaker 3: fifteen team, And so I text coached and I was like, god,
- 29:02Speaker 3: yess are awesome, saying like a bunch of rebounds.
- 29:03Speaker 8: It was really cool.
- 29:04Speaker 3: And then the graphic pops up and it said twenty
- 29:06Speaker 3: three rebounds in the game.
- 29:08Speaker 8: Twenty three in the game? Is that the record here?
- 29:12Speaker 7: Yes, the record was twenty two, and it was like
- 29:14Speaker 7: from eighty four ninety four.
- 29:16Speaker 3: So basically like eighteenth eighteen seventy two candle light instead
- 29:21Speaker 3: of electricity. But you had a game where you had
- 29:24Speaker 3: over twenty rebounds earlier though, and you were so close
- 29:27Speaker 3: to the record.
- 29:28Speaker 8: Were you shooting for twenty three? Were keeping up with
- 29:30Speaker 8: it in your head?
- 29:31Speaker 7: I feel like when I start the games, I don't
- 29:33Speaker 7: think about it, but it's like gets to the point
- 29:35Speaker 7: where my teammates are always like, oh my god. Or
- 29:37Speaker 7: it's more our media lady she's like, you're this not away.
- 29:39Speaker 7: Like at Halftimes she was like, you're twelve away. So
- 29:41Speaker 7: I was like, okay, I have to do it. If
- 29:43Speaker 7: I got twelve in the first half, I can get
- 29:44Speaker 7: twelve in the second half.
- 29:45Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, And what do you credit all the rebounds
- 29:47Speaker 3: to just being a dog or like form technical?
- 29:52Speaker 8: What is it?
- 29:53Speaker 7: Last year I got rebounds like I was have the
- 29:56Speaker 7: most rebounds in a season, but then like this year
- 29:59Speaker 7: I cut. I wait, like my body changed a lot,
- 30:02Speaker 7: and so I'm way more in shape. I think it's
- 30:04Speaker 7: more like reading the ball. Like when the ball hits
- 30:06Speaker 7: the rim, I can like read it where it's going
- 30:08Speaker 7: to go. So I don't know, I think it looks
- 30:11Speaker 7: like that falls to me a lot. But like sometimes
- 30:13Speaker 7: it's like knowing that if someone shoots from like one side,
- 30:17Speaker 7: it's going to go weak side. So it's like I'm
- 30:19Speaker 7: more so in good position.
- 30:20Speaker 3: So if I were shooting, you would stand under the room.
- 30:22Speaker 3: It's to be an air ball obviously, so you're just
- 30:23Speaker 3: gonna catchus.
- 30:24Speaker 9: Wish one.
- 30:25Speaker 3: That was its camera tricks we the first Yeah, we
- 30:27Speaker 3: have we have cameras and we do tricks with cameras
- 30:29Speaker 3: and stuff here. So with you playing basketball be such
- 30:32Speaker 3: a high level recruit, what does it like to be
- 30:34Speaker 3: because you're originally going to Yukon, which is I mean
- 30:38Speaker 3: that that program is legendary for winning a ton of
- 30:41Speaker 3: basketball championships.
- 30:42Speaker 8: When they recruits you, you're pretty freaking good.
- 30:44Speaker 3: And before you decided to come to Arkansas, what's it
- 30:46Speaker 3: like being a star recruit? I mean, are people come
- 30:48Speaker 3: to your games all the time just scouting you?
- 30:50Speaker 7: Yeah, I think it's It's my favorite part about it
- 30:54Speaker 7: is like the young kids that come watch. I think
- 30:56Speaker 7: that even when I was in high school, like I
- 30:58Speaker 7: would have little girls come up to me, whether they
- 31:00Speaker 7: were like in my jersey or like in the school
- 31:03Speaker 7: I was, or the Yukon, and I think that it
- 31:06Speaker 7: was like that was me. So I feel like that's
- 31:09Speaker 7: the best part about it, is like knowing my work
- 31:11Speaker 7: is being paid off, and like there has to continue
- 31:13Speaker 7: to be players to look up to, and as I
- 31:15Speaker 7: had players look up to, the younger girls need to.
- 31:18Speaker 7: So that's definitely my favorite part of like being a
- 31:20Speaker 7: good athlete is just seeing the young kids, Like the
- 31:24Speaker 7: excitement even after Arkansas games, like we have signature Sundays
- 31:27Speaker 7: and like it makes their whole world to like come
- 31:29Speaker 7: up to us, And I don't know, I just think
- 31:31Speaker 7: that that's definitely my favorite part.
- 31:33Speaker 8: Who is your hero? Your sports hero?
- 31:35Speaker 3: Growing up?
- 31:35Speaker 9: My more, she was my favorite have you got to
- 31:37Speaker 9: meet her?
- 31:38Speaker 7: No, she like kind of took a turn from basketball,
- 31:41Speaker 7: so she's injustice now.
- 31:43Speaker 8: But I mean, can you not message her and be like,
- 31:45Speaker 8: I'm a star stars.
- 31:47Speaker 7: Yeah, I need to reach out to her. Honestly, I've
- 31:49Speaker 7: met so many cool people.
- 31:51Speaker 8: I'm just kidding.
- 31:52Speaker 9: She's not I would literally die.
- 31:55Speaker 4: When did you do that?
- 31:57Speaker 8: That's funny to me? Maybe nobody else that was funny
- 31:59Speaker 8: to me. That's funny to me. Sorry, Sailor. Yeah, yeah, you.
- 32:01Speaker 6: Say that you've met a lot of cool people. Like
- 32:03Speaker 6: the cool people.
- 32:03Speaker 9: I mean, I'm sitting next to him right now.
- 32:05Speaker 8: This is not cool.
- 32:06Speaker 9: This is I really it was the coolest thing ever.
- 32:08Speaker 7: When you guys like contacted me at first the sweatshirt,
- 32:11Speaker 7: I was like, no way.
- 32:13Speaker 3: No, yeah, I feel honest talk because I was like,
- 32:16Speaker 3: I really want to get said. And I talked to
- 32:17Speaker 3: coach and I was like, I think Sailor would be
- 32:19Speaker 3: awesome because I obviously knew where you come from, how
- 32:22Speaker 3: good of a ball player you were. And then you
- 32:24Speaker 3: got there and I was like, man, Sailor is just
- 32:26Speaker 3: not She's such a stud athlete.
- 32:28Speaker 8: She thinks I'm stupid and we're stupid. That's what we
- 32:30Speaker 8: felt like. Is that true? No?
- 32:33Speaker 3: No, remember when you said you're stupid to me though,
- 32:35Speaker 3: that's why I thought that.
- 32:36Speaker 8: No, you didn't.
- 32:37Speaker 4: I just just kidding.
- 32:39Speaker 8: I'm just kidding.
- 32:40Speaker 3: So Sailor did I do we do a charity hoodie?
- 32:42Speaker 3: And and Sailor did that with us. So I know
- 32:46Speaker 3: Sailor from last year, but here we are sophomore year.
- 32:49Speaker 3: Do you feel like you're matured and he has a player?
- 32:51Speaker 3: Do you feel smarter on the court a year into
- 32:54Speaker 3: being full time player?
- 32:56Speaker 7: Yes, I think just like last year. Okay, so I
- 33:01Speaker 7: have a unique situation. I'm a sophomore on the court,
- 33:04Speaker 7: but I'm about to graduate next year, so I'm like
- 33:06Speaker 7: kind of in my junior year. I went to school
- 33:08Speaker 7: early at Yukon, so I feel like I've been in
- 33:11Speaker 7: college for so many years, but I've only been on
- 33:12Speaker 7: the court for This is my second year. So I
- 33:15Speaker 7: think it's just like now catching up to like what
- 33:18Speaker 7: I felt my experiences and like what my actual experience is.
- 33:21Speaker 7: But this year it's like kind of all come together
- 33:24Speaker 7: because I'm also needing to be a leader. So I
- 33:26Speaker 7: think that last year was nice because we had the
- 33:30Speaker 7: upperclassmen that we could just I could focus on, like
- 33:33Speaker 7: on the court whatever where Now I kind of got
- 33:35Speaker 7: welcome into a leadership role. And I think that without
- 33:39Speaker 7: last year, I would not be prepared. So I feel
- 33:42Speaker 7: way more mature and way more equipped for it.
- 33:44Speaker 3: Do you guys in the off season ever go trained
- 33:47Speaker 3: with like any of the other college kids or even
- 33:50Speaker 3: pro athletes.
- 33:50Speaker 8: Do you ever get time to do that?
- 33:52Speaker 9: Yes? I trained.
- 33:54Speaker 7: So we just played UCLA And one of my best
- 33:56Speaker 7: friends is on the team, Kiki Rice, and I go
- 33:58Speaker 7: train with her all summer long. So this summer I
- 34:00Speaker 7: went home for like a month and a half and
- 34:03Speaker 7: I trained with Alex who played in the NBA, and
- 34:06Speaker 7: like did a whole bunch of stuff. And I got
- 34:07Speaker 7: to go to Miami and like, I've just got to
- 34:09Speaker 7: meet a lot of people training Alex McLean.
- 34:13Speaker 8: He played well, you said, Alex, I don't know.
- 34:15Speaker 3: Yeah, And I was just gonna be cool and be
- 34:17Speaker 3: like Alex, Yeah, Alex, Alex Pekeaton, Yeah, go ahead.
- 34:21Speaker 7: But so like this summer I got to go and
- 34:23Speaker 7: meet a bunch of different people, and like basketball is
- 34:25Speaker 7: just you like it's such a small world. Like you
- 34:29Speaker 7: go and then you you get on a team and
- 34:31Speaker 7: it's like, next thing, you know, we're playing UCLA in
- 34:33Speaker 7: a double and it's I'm playing my best friend. I
- 34:35Speaker 7: played USA with her, I played A YOU with her.
- 34:36Speaker 7: So it's like a small world. But yeah, I've got
- 34:39Speaker 7: to train with some cool people.
- 34:40Speaker 8: The player for U c l A. She I think
- 34:43Speaker 8: she's six nine.
- 34:43Speaker 3: I don't think she's listed at six nine, but she's
- 34:45Speaker 3: she's gonna be six nine.
- 34:47Speaker 9: He was also my teammate.
- 34:48Speaker 8: How do you? How do you?
- 34:49Speaker 3: How do you rebound against someone that is that much
- 34:51Speaker 3: bigger than you?
- 34:52Speaker 9: You don't?
- 34:53Speaker 8: You don't, Okay that we have it everybody, I.
- 34:55Speaker 9: Didn't have that many rebuts, keep your.
- 34:56Speaker 3: Dream keep your dreams alive. So what's the what's the
- 35:00Speaker 3: ceiling with your team in conference?
- 35:03Speaker 7: I think we have so much talent in so many
- 35:07Speaker 7: different areas that we don't have a ceiling. And I
- 35:09Speaker 7: think that that's what makes us so good is that
- 35:13Speaker 7: we have like we're nowhere close to how good we
- 35:15Speaker 7: can be. And I think that you know, every game
- 35:18Speaker 7: is a challenge for us, and I it better equips
- 35:21Speaker 7: us that the SEC is going to be challenging every night,
- 35:24Speaker 7: whether you go play a team that's considered last an
- 35:27Speaker 7: SEC or first. And so I think that seeing that
- 35:32Speaker 7: every game we're getting closer to our potential is almost
- 35:34Speaker 7: promising because it's like we're putting all the pieces together
- 35:37Speaker 7: in the right order.
- 35:38Speaker 8: You feel it, you feel like it's starting to happen.
- 35:40Speaker 7: Yes, Like the first few games, I remember leaving the
- 35:43Speaker 7: game and I'm like, we barely won and we're playing.
- 35:48Speaker 8: Yah.
- 35:48Speaker 7: Then it's like, now we go to Florida State and
- 35:51Speaker 7: not one person picked us to win. We all played
- 35:55Speaker 7: just how we could, Like we didn't do anything crazy,
- 35:56Speaker 7: we didn't do anything different. And I think that those
- 35:59Speaker 7: kind of games give you confidence. And I mean even UCLA,
- 36:02Speaker 7: Like that's the best team we've played in two years.
- 36:05Speaker 7: And so I think that having a team like that,
- 36:08Speaker 7: you know, you lose, but you learn a lot about
- 36:10Speaker 7: your team, and we definitely gained a lot of confidence.
- 36:16Speaker 4: All Right, that's it.
- 36:17Speaker 3: We're gonna play the Coach Neighbors interview after we're done
- 36:19Speaker 3: with the show here because we put on the Christmas
- 36:21Speaker 3: episode because I thought it was so good, but some
- 36:23Speaker 3: people may not have heard that episode, so we're gonna
- 36:25Speaker 3: put it. It was he talked about having a stroke,
- 36:27Speaker 3: I know, a heartart attack at twenty nine. Amazing, really cool.
- 36:32Speaker 3: He has like a movie list of a thousand movies. Yeah,
- 36:35Speaker 3: read reads a lot, eight thousand movies. He categorized them
- 36:39Speaker 3: and songs.
- 36:40Speaker 1: I think the songs was like in the thirty thousand
- 36:43Speaker 1: or Yeah.
- 36:45Speaker 3: So that interview you should listen to that after we're
- 36:47Speaker 3: down here. Anything you want to say, Eddie.
- 36:49Speaker 1: I just want to say I love you guys, thanks man,
- 36:52Speaker 1: and even more now because I've had this hat in
- 36:54Speaker 1: my head there.
- 36:54Speaker 4: I love this hat. Thank you so much.
- 36:55Speaker 5: Comfy man. Do we look good?
- 36:58Speaker 4: You look great? Actually, that looks good on you. Yeah,
- 37:00Speaker 4: I'd like to make out all of you the same time.
- 37:02Speaker 3: Let's go bringing this all right, So on Friday show
- 37:06Speaker 3: at Philty eights on from ESPN, and then just get ready,
- 37:11Speaker 3: get your smiles ready, because what because I'm about to
- 37:13Speaker 3: hit a parley, Let's go so many smiles.
- 37:17Speaker 4: Well that sound I felt racist.
- 37:21Speaker 8: Hey.
- 37:21Speaker 3: We were somewhere I won't say where. I won't even
- 37:25Speaker 3: say where we were saying what city or state we
- 37:27Speaker 3: were in, and somebody came up to Eddie and goes,
- 37:29Speaker 3: what ethnicity are you?
- 37:31Speaker 4: And then and then I was kind of confused by
- 37:33Speaker 4: and I heard it. I was like, just just make
- 37:34Speaker 4: playing a joke on him.
- 37:35Speaker 1: And I guess this person didn't think I heard them,
- 37:39Speaker 1: so they said, are you Arabic? I said, no, I
- 37:44Speaker 1: am not Arabic.
- 37:45Speaker 4: Ever, really takes some balls to ask somebody what ethnicity.
- 37:47Speaker 4: They are just straight up just like hey, man, what
- 37:50Speaker 4: what you got?
- 37:51Speaker 1: And Arabic is like Aladdin, right, like, yes, I was
- 37:55Speaker 1: in Aladdin.
- 37:56Speaker 4: Yes you were Aladdin to her.
- 38:00Speaker 3: Check out our episode of Too Much Access. That's our
- 38:03Speaker 3: video show with Arkansas Razorback women's basketball team, and other.
- 38:08Speaker 4: Than that, you can blow the whistle.
- 38:11Speaker 3: I got to man, we'll play the coach Neighbors interview
- 38:13Speaker 3: and we'll get the HG double hockey sticks out of here.
- 38:15Speaker 4: All right, go ahead, all right, see you guys.
- 38:20Speaker 6: Coach, thanks for having us today. Welcome to the house. Thanks.
- 38:23Speaker 6: Your office is.
- 38:24Speaker 3: You've got a corner office, you got a bathroom in
- 38:26Speaker 3: the office. Didn't know we were dealing with that elite
- 38:30Speaker 3: of status here.
- 38:31Speaker 6: I'm not sure that's what it is, but for a
- 38:33Speaker 6: guy that went to school here that view a Bud Walter, yeah,
- 38:35Speaker 6: that's awesome. Every single day. Man, you can't beat it.
- 38:37Speaker 3: Whenever I talk to somebody who coaches at their alma mater.
- 38:41Speaker 3: I'm always genuinely curious if they think their love of
- 38:46Speaker 3: the school can be soured if it doesn't go right professionally.
- 38:49Speaker 6: Yeah, scared to death that it could happen that way because.
- 38:52Speaker 3: I'm assuming it was absolutely no doubt you're going to
- 38:55Speaker 3: be the coach. You want the job, for sure, But
- 38:57Speaker 3: a little bit was like, man, if this sucks and
- 38:59Speaker 3: I don't, well, then how do I even like still
- 39:02Speaker 3: love it?
- 39:02Speaker 6: Yeah? I hadn't gone away either. That was seven years ago. Yeah,
- 39:06Speaker 6: I mean it was a no brainer. I was in
- 39:08Speaker 6: a dream job, a good job at Washington, but when
- 39:10Speaker 6: the opportunity came, like you said, it was home. It
- 39:13Speaker 6: was what I dreamed of. I wanted to be a
- 39:14Speaker 6: razorback player and I was never good enough at anything,
- 39:17Speaker 6: but coaching was the opportunity and I think about it
- 39:19Speaker 6: every single day I wake up. And you know, the
- 39:21Speaker 6: other part for me is I'm a fan of our
- 39:23Speaker 6: other eighteen sports, just like every other fan in Arkansas,
- 39:26Speaker 6: and then I'm also colleagues in one sport. So but no,
- 39:30Speaker 6: it was a great fear. I talked it over with
- 39:31Speaker 6: all of my family, especially my close family, Like you
- 39:34Speaker 6: understand that there has never in the history been a
- 39:38Speaker 6: basketball coach retire from the University of Arkansas. And they
- 39:42Speaker 6: were like, well, what do you mean. I said, They've
- 39:44Speaker 6: all been told that's me, it could be me, and
- 39:47Speaker 6: most likely probably will be. Are we good with that?
- 39:50Speaker 6: And we all said yeah. I said, if I get
- 39:52Speaker 6: to be the coach here for one day, it will
- 39:55Speaker 6: have been worth it.
- 39:55Speaker 3: I mean, that'd be the coolest thing, getting hired and
- 39:57Speaker 3: like getting walked into your office and like this is
- 40:00Speaker 3: now your program at your school.
- 40:02Speaker 6: Do you remember that day? Yeah. I stood right there
- 40:04Speaker 6: and looked at that view and it just washed over me.
- 40:07Speaker 6: I mean it hit me like because I'd said it
- 40:09Speaker 6: from a very young age I wanted to be a
- 40:11Speaker 6: razorback and I was not good enough at any sport.
- 40:13Speaker 6: But then it became I want to be a razorback coach.
- 40:15Speaker 6: And when it came it hit me, I stood right
- 40:17Speaker 6: there and cried by myself because of the overwhelming how
- 40:21Speaker 6: many people helped me get here, how lucky I know
- 40:24Speaker 6: for everything to line up like it was. So I
- 40:27Speaker 6: don't spend one single day taking for granted how important
- 40:32Speaker 6: it is, how valuable it was. But also I tried
- 40:34Speaker 6: to hit the ground running every day so I get
- 40:35Speaker 6: to be year as long as I possibly can.
- 40:38Speaker 3: So when you say you went to school here but
- 40:40Speaker 3: you wan't good enough to play for the Razorbacks, did
- 40:42Speaker 3: you play a lot of like ball in the rack?
- 40:44Speaker 6: I did to predominate that. Yeah, I tried out for baseball.
- 40:48Speaker 6: But coach to Brian cut me it was the best
- 40:49Speaker 6: thing that ever happened to me. I played a little
- 40:51Speaker 6: baseball at West Dark and came up here and I
- 40:54Speaker 6: thought I had a pretty good day. I tell I
- 40:56Speaker 6: told the story coach to Brian in the room many times.
- 40:58Speaker 6: But he came walking across the I'm in there, and
- 41:00Speaker 6: I thought, I'm getting ready to be a Razorback. I
- 41:03Speaker 6: just I hit it good in the cage and I'd
- 41:04Speaker 6: picked it pretty good in the field. And he walked
- 41:07Speaker 6: up and he put his arm around me and said,
- 41:09Speaker 6: Mahbor's you're a good boy. He said, uh, Coach Coach
- 41:11Speaker 6: Crowder was right, that was my junior college coach. Coach
- 41:13Speaker 6: Crowder was right. He said, you you really understand the game.
- 41:16Speaker 6: You know when to be and where to be, just
- 41:19Speaker 6: can't quite do it. He said, you ever thought about
- 41:21Speaker 6: coaching and I said, yeah, this SU's my SU's my
- 41:23Speaker 6: playing days, Row, I'm going to go right into coaching.
- 41:26Speaker 6: He kind of patted me on the button. He goes,
- 41:28Speaker 6: that's today's coin. Here we are.
- 41:33Speaker 3: Yeah, did you think at all about trying to play
- 41:35Speaker 3: ball somewhere else when you got cut here?
- 41:37Speaker 6: No, it was Razorbacks or nothing. For me. I had
- 41:40Speaker 6: some small college offers to play basketball. It was better
- 41:42Speaker 6: at basket. I was probably a little better at baseball.
- 41:44Speaker 6: Basketball was my love. I maybe I thought about it,
- 41:48Speaker 6: but it was just it wasn't going to be the
- 41:50Speaker 6: same If it couldn't be Razorbacks for me, that's just
- 41:53Speaker 6: it wasn't going to be anything. Who were the guys
- 41:56Speaker 6: that for you?
- 41:56Speaker 3: Because for me it was Oliver Miller to day Lee
- 41:58Speaker 3: Mayberry like my young years and super instrumental in me
- 42:02Speaker 3: being a raised Back diehard fan.
- 42:04Speaker 6: Like when I say that to you, who are those guys?
- 42:05Speaker 6: The other Triplets, Marvin delf ron Berg, Sidney mont Creef
- 42:09Speaker 6: and really that whole team. So like, if you come
- 42:11Speaker 6: in my razorback room in my house, I've got all
- 42:14Speaker 6: those guys jerseys, I've got balls, I've got sweat bands,
- 42:17Speaker 6: I've collected over the years. Those were the people that
- 42:20Speaker 6: I've stayed up late to watch the replays of, you know,
- 42:23Speaker 6: the tape delays before we had VHS and all those
- 42:27Speaker 6: different things. So those were those were my guys on
- 42:29Speaker 6: the basketball. But Ben Cowen's in football, that Orange Bowl team,
- 42:33Speaker 6: Rolling Sales, Ron Calcagney, Dan Hampton, you know, Kevin mcgrenold's
- 42:39Speaker 6: in baseball. Those were more when I was starting to
- 42:41Speaker 6: get older and wanting to be here. But I've idolized
- 42:45Speaker 6: a number of coaches and players, and you know, now
- 42:48Speaker 6: every sport.
- 42:49Speaker 1: When you started coaches, you ever feel because I was
- 42:51Speaker 1: talking about this with my wife, like, you know, I
- 42:53Speaker 1: always say I can do it, but deep inside, I'm like,
- 42:55Speaker 1: I don't know if I can do it. Yeah, when
- 42:57Speaker 1: you first started, did you kind of feel like yeah,
- 42:59Speaker 1: every day every day.
- 43:02Speaker 6: My first job was a swim coach at Bintonville High School.
- 43:05Speaker 6: I missed a meeting early in the summer because I
- 43:07Speaker 6: didn't have an email account set up yet and they
- 43:09Speaker 6: had sent out emails for all these coaches to come
- 43:11Speaker 6: to this meeting. Well I didn't know about it. Well,
- 43:14Speaker 6: they made me the swim coach. Well, first, you have
- 43:16Speaker 6: any experience I can't swim. So not only did I
- 43:20Speaker 6: not have any experience as a swim coach, I didn't
- 43:23Speaker 6: have the ability to even jump in the water and
- 43:25Speaker 6: do anything. Yes, But fortunately at Bentonville they had a
- 43:28Speaker 6: person hired through Walmart who did all the instructing and
- 43:31Speaker 6: I just needed to be the school of liaison to
- 43:34Speaker 6: show up. And so they said, hey, y you know
- 43:36Speaker 6: you'd be there at four thirty and it's year round.
- 43:38Speaker 6: I'm like going, well, I can't do it at four thirty.
- 43:40Speaker 6: I got basketball practice at three thirty, and they said, no,
- 43:42Speaker 6: the other four thirty. Ah my gosh, that's because that's
- 43:46Speaker 6: when swimmers swim. So I was at the swim n
- 43:49Speaker 6: auditorium and my first swim meet I ever saw. I
- 43:51Speaker 6: actually coach so every day and still to this day,
- 43:54Speaker 6: I always worry I'm doing it wrong. I always worry.
- 43:57Speaker 6: We're talking about imposter syndrome. Before were on here, I
- 43:59Speaker 6: certainly have had that at a number of times. And
- 44:01Speaker 6: you know, when I first got to be a head coach,
- 44:03Speaker 6: but one of my first coaching jobs was I was
- 44:05Speaker 6: coaching is tar vanderber who's won over a thousand games,
- 44:08Speaker 6: and I'm going to game one. You know, so I
- 44:10Speaker 6: still have that. I hope that's normal. I don't know
- 44:14Speaker 6: that it is. But for me, my greatest fear is
- 44:16Speaker 6: always that I'm not doing it right, or maybe I can't,
- 44:19Speaker 6: but try not to let that show. I tried to
- 44:21Speaker 6: put on a confident smile and do the best I can.
- 44:23Speaker 6: But it's a scary profession, but it's fun. Were you
- 44:26Speaker 6: a decent swim coach even though I was an unbelievable
- 44:28Speaker 6: swim coach? Yeah, I got to stay championship ring? No way,
- 44:33Speaker 6: that's hilarious. I got it sitting right over here at
- 44:35Speaker 6: some point. Yeah, here it is. And what do you
- 44:38Speaker 6: credit that to the unbelievable swimmers that were at that
- 44:41Speaker 6: school at that particular time.
- 44:45Speaker 8: Up?
- 44:45Speaker 3: But still okay, But that there is, uh, there's a
- 44:48Speaker 3: skill to not messing something good up. Yeah, just as
- 44:50Speaker 3: much as there is making something good that maybe isn't
- 44:53Speaker 3: as good as possibly could be.
- 44:55Speaker 6: Sure you didn't mess it up? No, what I did.
- 44:57Speaker 6: I went in and you know, it was kind of
- 44:59Speaker 6: a Olympic sport. It wasn't one that got a lot
- 45:02Speaker 6: of newspaper coverage. But I've been coaching basketball, so I
- 45:04Speaker 6: called my newspaper writers and I said, hey, have you
- 45:06Speaker 6: not followed the swim team. They're amazing. We'd won state
- 45:09Speaker 6: championships and this kid's going to be in the Junior Olympics.
- 45:11Speaker 6: So I got in publicity and I brought it kind
- 45:14Speaker 6: of to be. I went out. Here's what I did
- 45:15Speaker 6: at the school too. I went and I bought the
- 45:18Speaker 6: coolest sweats suit that anybody had on campus, and I
- 45:21Speaker 6: gave to our swimmers, and every other sport waned them,
- 45:24Speaker 6: but they couldn't have them because swim team had them,
- 45:26Speaker 6: and we made swimming kind of cool. It's kind of
- 45:28Speaker 6: cool deal.
- 45:28Speaker 3: So when did you get to stop coaching swim? When
- 45:31Speaker 3: did you retire as a champion swim coach. I'm not
- 45:33Speaker 3: sure it was a retirement.
- 45:35Speaker 6: I think it was they found somebody that drove the
- 45:37Speaker 6: bus better than I. It was when I got to
- 45:39Speaker 6: be the head coach of another team that was kind
- 45:43Speaker 6: of a you know, it was very time consuming.
- 45:45Speaker 8: It was.
- 45:45Speaker 6: It really was four point thirty in the morning until
- 45:47Speaker 6: seven in the morning every day of the year, and
- 45:50Speaker 6: it was a thousand dollars stipend, so it was not
- 45:53Speaker 6: the most lucrative gig. That was the whole pay for
- 45:57Speaker 6: that job. Yeah, one thousand for that number of hours
- 46:00Speaker 6: that many. So when I got to be the head
- 46:03Speaker 6: coach of the girls' basketball team the eighties, said we
- 46:06Speaker 6: need somebody that can do this a little better than
- 46:08Speaker 6: you are, and I gladly relinquished my title to somebody
- 46:13Speaker 6: that actually had been to a swim meet before I had.
- 46:15Speaker 3: So, whenever you're an assistant basketball coach at the school,
- 46:20Speaker 3: was your dream to be a collegiate coach or was
- 46:22Speaker 3: it to just be the best high school coach in
- 46:24Speaker 3: the state.
- 46:24Speaker 6: Yeah? Not initially, because I didn't have it, not played,
- 46:28Speaker 6: I didn't know for sure how it would go. Initially,
- 46:30Speaker 6: I just thought I wanted to go be the high
- 46:32Speaker 6: school coach at Greenwood, Arkansas. I wanted to go back
- 46:34Speaker 6: home and do that. But I had a heart attack
- 46:36Speaker 6: at twenty nine, a genetic defect in my heart. And
- 46:40Speaker 6: at twenty nine, I was the high school coach at
- 46:42Speaker 6: Cabot and when it happened, and that was when it
- 46:44Speaker 6: changed me to wanting to be a college coach.
- 46:47Speaker 3: So what did you do differently than so, you want
- 46:50Speaker 3: to be a college coach, you go get a master's or.
- 46:51Speaker 6: No, no, you don't have to have a master's. To
- 46:53Speaker 6: coach D one. I probably didn't need to go to
- 46:56Speaker 6: any more school as it was with my last GPA.
- 47:00Speaker 6: So I just got to know coach Blair really well.
- 47:03Speaker 6: A lot of people said, you know, you need to
- 47:05Speaker 6: branch out in network and get to know a lot
- 47:06Speaker 6: of coaches. But I had a really wise popaul one
- 47:09Speaker 6: time that said, it's okay to put all your eggs
- 47:12Speaker 6: in one basket as long as you watch thine basket. Yeah,
- 47:16Speaker 6: you know. So I just got to know coach Blair
- 47:18Speaker 6: and I volunteered at his camps. I volunteered every chance
- 47:21Speaker 6: I got, and every time he had a job opening,
- 47:23Speaker 6: and I said, I'll do it. I don't care what
- 47:24Speaker 6: it pays. So finally he had a job that paid
- 47:27Speaker 6: fourteen thousand dollars. I was making seventy two thousand dollars
- 47:30Speaker 6: as a high school coach, and I said I'll take it.
- 47:32Speaker 6: And he spent the next three hours trying to talk
- 47:34Speaker 6: me out of it. He said, I said, well, you
- 47:35Speaker 6: already offered me the job, coach, So I took the
- 47:38Speaker 6: pay cut and jumped into it. What was the job?
- 47:40Speaker 6: I was called Director of Basketball Operations, which is a big,
- 47:43Speaker 6: big title. Other I should have been his diet coke guy.
- 47:46Speaker 6: That was my first job was to make sure he
- 47:49Speaker 6: had diet coke at practice. So, like I had been taught,
- 47:51Speaker 6: I said, okay, coach, do you want that in a cup?
- 47:53Speaker 6: Do you want it a can? Do you want it
- 47:55Speaker 6: out of a fountain? Do you want crushed dice? Do
- 47:57Speaker 6: you want sonic ised? Do you want cube dice? What
- 47:59Speaker 6: do you want? So? I did the best job I
- 48:01Speaker 6: could at being that until he let me drive him around,
- 48:04Speaker 6: till he let me do a little stuff more and
- 48:06Speaker 6: more and more and more. So, uh, that was my
- 48:08Speaker 6: first job, glorified dot coke go.
- 48:10Speaker 1: It's the heart attack, though at such a young age,
- 48:12Speaker 1: and you go into a career where you're just gonna
- 48:15Speaker 1: be yelling and out the whole time.
- 48:17Speaker 6: How do you manage that my heart rate doesn't get
- 48:19Speaker 6: above one hundred and twenty any like they've had me
- 48:21Speaker 6: on monitors. I just I think because of the heart attack,
- 48:24Speaker 6: I have this perspective on maybe it's not as big
- 48:28Speaker 6: a deal as everybody. I mean, it is stressful, don't
- 48:30Speaker 6: get me wrong, but I don't stress about it. I
- 48:34Speaker 6: think because I've had the heart attacks and that it
- 48:36Speaker 6: has helped me try to be as calm as I can.
- 48:39Speaker 6: A lot of my players will say, you know, I'm
- 48:41Speaker 6: calm because coach is calm. I'm if he's calm, I
- 48:44Speaker 6: can be calm. So I hope that's turned out to
- 48:46Speaker 6: be a positive thing. It was a genetic thing, too,
- 48:50Speaker 6: so we got it under control. I'm not really worried
- 48:52Speaker 6: about it happening again. My doctors have all said, I
- 48:55Speaker 6: think in a nice way, there it's gonna be something
- 48:57Speaker 6: else that you can hit by truck, or you're you're
- 48:59Speaker 6: gonna have a plan, you know something. I'm like, thanks,
- 49:01Speaker 6: it's not gonna be my heart. But that moment changed me.
- 49:04Speaker 6: At twenty nine, you realize life's that short because he
- 49:06Speaker 6: literally told me, he said, if you'd have been asleep,
- 49:08Speaker 6: I think you would have died because you might not
- 49:10Speaker 6: have really known it was happening. And they call it
- 49:13Speaker 6: the window maker vow because of that reason. So I
- 49:16Speaker 6: was lucky. I've always been right time, right place guys,
- 49:18Speaker 6: so obviously that one was one of those.
- 49:20Speaker 3: What was your highlight your highest moment in high school
- 49:23Speaker 3: coaching high school games before you left.
- 49:26Speaker 6: I had a team. It's kind of a three year window.
- 49:30Speaker 6: I had a team that was finished one in twenty four,
- 49:33Speaker 6: won one game, and the game we won, believe it
- 49:35Speaker 6: or not, we hit a jump shot at the end
- 49:37Speaker 6: of the third quarter to win it because nobody scored
- 49:39Speaker 6: in the fourth. Believe it or not. That team played
- 49:41Speaker 6: for the state championship two years later, the same most
- 49:43Speaker 6: of the same crew, most of the same crew. We
- 49:45Speaker 6: just got better and better, and we stuck. We had
- 49:47Speaker 6: a move in or two. Don't get me wrong, but
- 49:49Speaker 6: that group that was probably the pinnacle of high school
- 49:53Speaker 6: coaching for me.
- 49:55Speaker 3: And then when you what was your first collegiate job
- 49:57Speaker 3: here with coach Blair, it was it's so, but then
- 49:59Speaker 3: you have to leave again, right, Yeah, you have to
- 50:01Speaker 3: leave because it's a job.
- 50:02Speaker 6: It's a journeyman job, it is. But with the idea
- 50:04Speaker 6: hopefully of coming back to that was the plan. Yeah,
- 50:07Speaker 6: and I came back again in between. So I started
- 50:09Speaker 6: with coach Blair, I went to Tulsa. I followed that
- 50:11Speaker 6: coach to Colorado. I came back to Arkansas for another time.
- 50:15Speaker 6: I went to Xavier, I went to Washington That's where
- 50:18Speaker 6: I got my first head coaching job. And then when
- 50:20Speaker 6: this one came open, it was everything I could do
- 50:22Speaker 6: to come back home, But yeah, you knew, you know
- 50:24Speaker 6: you're gonna be I moved five times in five years.
- 50:27Speaker 6: I moved eight times, you know, And you know it's
- 50:29Speaker 6: one of those deals that you know you have to
- 50:31Speaker 6: do that to at the end hopefully be able to
- 50:33Speaker 6: be somewhere for a long time. When did you realize
- 50:35Speaker 6: that this was like the thing you're pretty good at. Well,
- 50:39Speaker 6: there's a picture of it over there. I was an
- 50:41Speaker 6: assistant coach at Xavier. We had a young lady who
- 50:43Speaker 6: missed a couple of layups to go to the final four.
- 50:46Speaker 6: I smoked them mean wide open and for something in
- 50:49Speaker 6: me rather than be upset about miss, I sprinted onto
- 50:53Speaker 6: the court and I picked her up off the floor
- 50:56Speaker 6: and I just hugged her and shielded her. And I
- 50:58Speaker 6: still to this day don't know what mean you do it,
- 51:00Speaker 6: but that was I knew. After looking back on I said,
- 51:02Speaker 6: I'm supposed to be a coach. If I if something
- 51:05Speaker 6: in my body reacted, this is what I'm supposed to
- 51:07Speaker 6: be doing. It's not. I was still an assistant. I
- 51:10Speaker 6: almost quit coaching. I had tried to become a head coach.
- 51:13Speaker 6: I was an assistant for fourteen years. I was at
- 51:16Speaker 6: Xavier at a spot where I thought I was going
- 51:17Speaker 6: to get the job and I didn't, and I almost
- 51:20Speaker 6: just you know, decided I was going to get out
- 51:23Speaker 6: of coaching and come home and sell drugs and flip
- 51:26Speaker 6: house pharmaceuticals, pharmaceuticals environment there. I was going to sell
- 51:32Speaker 6: pharmaceuticals and flip houses. I really thought about it for
- 51:35Speaker 6: a while, but I took that job at Washington that
- 51:39Speaker 6: ended up leading now, and so you know, it's one
- 51:42Speaker 6: of those jobs where you have to kind of think
- 51:44Speaker 6: that way.
- 51:45Speaker 3: What's the difference in that we don't understand of Okay,
- 51:48Speaker 3: you're the number one assistant, but now you're the head coach.
- 51:50Speaker 6: When you're whenever they move you up.
- 51:52Speaker 3: At Washington and you're the head guy, Yeah, immediately, what
- 51:55Speaker 3: did you not know you were going to have to be.
- 51:58Speaker 6: Well, you've got to make the decision instead of the suggestions.
- 52:03Speaker 6: You know, all those great suggestions I'd had as an
- 52:05Speaker 6: assistant coach, and I was like, oh, he's not doing that.
- 52:08Speaker 6: You know, why aren't they using my idea? The amount
- 52:11Speaker 6: of decisions you had to make on a daily basis,
- 52:13Speaker 6: and not only the amount of it, but the number
- 52:15Speaker 6: of people it affected, Like if like today, if I
- 52:19Speaker 6: want to change practice time, I've got to alert fifty
- 52:21Speaker 6: nine people, and then they have families and they have
- 52:24Speaker 6: people they have to alert. I had never thought about
- 52:27Speaker 6: that aspect of having to be the person that makes
- 52:30Speaker 6: a decision that trickles down and affects those many people.
- 52:33Speaker 6: And then the other thing that was, it's going to
- 52:35Speaker 6: sound really petty, but I was at Washington the friday
- 52:39Speaker 6: before I was the assistant coach. We went out on
- 52:41Speaker 6: a little out excursion and I had like a little
- 52:44Speaker 6: Subaru SUV, mini suv or whatever. Every kid's trying to
- 52:47Speaker 6: pile in there with me because I was cool and
- 52:49Speaker 6: had the cool music and whatever. I have like ten
- 52:51Speaker 6: people trying to get in my car. The next friday,
- 52:54Speaker 6: I was the head coach and I had the big
- 52:56Speaker 6: SUV and we were going to go out to a
- 52:58Speaker 6: dinner to celebrate, and nobody wanted to ride with me.
- 53:02Speaker 6: And that was the same guy, but your job had changed,
- 53:06Speaker 6: so like that was hard on me for a while,
- 53:09Speaker 6: Like because you're not going to be liked all the time,
- 53:11Speaker 6: and their decisions are tough and it's gonna have no
- 53:14Speaker 6: You're gonna make somebody mad probably, and that boy I
- 53:17Speaker 6: struggle with that, and I'm not telling you I don't
- 53:18Speaker 6: still struggle with that a little bit today because that's
- 53:20Speaker 6: just that's hard. But the two big things we're having
- 53:23Speaker 6: to make all these decisions and learning that you can
- 53:25Speaker 6: run out of energy to make decisions. It's why the
- 53:28Speaker 6: presidents don't pick out their own clothes or where they're eating,
- 53:32Speaker 6: because you can exhaust yourself of your energy of making
- 53:35Speaker 6: decisions on stuff that's trivial.
- 53:37Speaker 3: The last ten years or so, seemingly from you know,
- 53:40Speaker 3: ten thousand feet up, the recruiting has changed. It's seemingly
- 53:44Speaker 3: so much more than it had in any any clip
- 53:46Speaker 3: of time because again, all the rules of change, from
- 53:48Speaker 3: the portal to NIL to how much adapting have you
- 53:52Speaker 3: had to do? How much changing have you had to
- 53:54Speaker 3: do just in your day to day ceoing and coaching.
- 53:58Speaker 6: A lot you have to scrap what you did two
- 54:00Speaker 6: years ago. It literally changes every day now. I mean
- 54:03Speaker 6: the price of recruiting, and I don't mean the dollar man.
- 54:06Speaker 6: We're not talking about NIL. I'm just saying the things
- 54:08Speaker 6: you have to do to stay on that cutting edge
- 54:11Speaker 6: to be attractive to the best players in the country.
- 54:15Speaker 6: I have to have people surrounding me because I'm not
- 54:17Speaker 6: the one that can keep up with what's cool and
- 54:19Speaker 6: what trend. How are we going to communicate with these people?
- 54:21Speaker 6: So I've got to employ an unbelievable staff of people
- 54:24Speaker 6: who are up on that, and then I just have
- 54:26Speaker 6: to be available. As long as I make myself available
- 54:28Speaker 6: to them to do whatever they tell me to do,
- 54:31Speaker 6: I can stay in the thick of it. But it's
- 54:33Speaker 6: a complete one hundred and eighty degree shift from what
- 54:35Speaker 6: it was two years ago. Final three questions. You have
- 54:38Speaker 6: a lot of books in this office. They're everywhere. Yeah,
- 54:41Speaker 6: so even your book. Yeah, I think that was a setup, though,
- 54:44Speaker 6: I tell you why they get the set up. Coach
- 54:46Speaker 6: all interesting. I have theory about this.
- 54:48Speaker 3: You walk in and obviously either coach is well read
- 54:51Speaker 3: or has just spent a lot of money on book two.
- 54:53Speaker 6: It could be either one. I know people have done both.
- 54:55Speaker 3: Okay, not gonna hate so, but again, there's so many
- 54:59Speaker 3: books in this office that I feel like you've probably
- 55:03Speaker 3: read a few of them. Now why I'm looking at
- 55:07Speaker 3: your there's four books on your desk. There's five hundred
- 55:09Speaker 3: around here, just playing the numbers, game analytics data. What
- 55:12Speaker 3: are the odds that my book would be on your
- 55:15Speaker 3: desk randomly when I show up.
- 55:17Speaker 6: Well, it's not random because I want you to sign
- 55:18Speaker 6: it before you leave. But it was in there like
- 55:20Speaker 6: it was just sitting on your desk. It was in
- 55:22Speaker 6: the stack where you guys got here.
- 55:23Speaker 4: It was.
- 55:26Speaker 6: It was in my stack with all the other white
- 55:28Speaker 6: books over there. You can ask anybody you're a.
- 55:30Speaker 3: Price tag on it, but today at half price books
- 55:32Speaker 3: looks like the receipts.
- 55:33Speaker 6: Yeah, every book in here has been read, and anybody
- 55:36Speaker 6: that's really every book in here has been read. Anybody
- 55:38Speaker 6: that's around me can tell you the story about me
- 55:40Speaker 6: and behind reading. But if they're on my desk, I'm
- 55:42Speaker 6: in this process of reading them. If they're in that
- 55:45Speaker 6: book bag over there on the corner, they are my
- 55:47Speaker 6: favorite books. If they are stacked under here, they're the
- 55:50Speaker 6: ones I'm going to give anybody in this room if
- 55:51Speaker 6: you all want to copy a speed of trust. I'll
- 55:52Speaker 6: buy every copy I can find and a hand them
- 55:54Speaker 6: out to anybody that comes in here and asks me
- 55:56Speaker 6: about reading. I was an awful reader at the age
- 55:58Speaker 6: of forty, and I took a test online and I
- 56:00Speaker 6: read at the eighth grade. Reading level, and that's embarrassing,
- 56:03Speaker 6: and I wanted to become a better reader. So I
- 56:05Speaker 6: started reading, and I got better and better and better.
- 56:08Speaker 6: I got toere I could read nine hundred words a
- 56:09Speaker 6: minute and with comprehension. So that's when I started pouring
- 56:13Speaker 6: through every copy of everything I could ever read. I'm
- 56:16Speaker 6: not that fast anymore because now I take a for
- 56:19Speaker 6: every book I read, I write at least ten pages,
- 56:22Speaker 6: and I go by alternative back and forth. But your
- 56:24Speaker 6: book has been read since I was coming to Nashville
- 56:27Speaker 6: a couple of years ago, when we were going to connect.
- 56:30Speaker 6: That was when I got a copy of that book,
- 56:31Speaker 6: and I, why know you write a book? You write
- 56:35Speaker 6: so much I've had I've had a lot of people say,
- 56:37Speaker 6: and I think I will when I retire and I'm
- 56:39Speaker 6: not coaching. I've got a bunch of pieces that I
- 56:41Speaker 6: think we could write into a book. Right now. I've
- 56:43Speaker 6: written twenty, probably probably two thousand pages worth of stuff.
- 56:48Speaker 6: I had a newsletter I shared that went out to
- 56:50Speaker 6: seventy five thousand coaches, that went out weekly. I wrote
- 56:53Speaker 6: in those things. I think I could probably put it together.
- 56:56Speaker 6: It's a lot of other people's thoughts that I've kind
- 56:59Speaker 6: of made into my own and summer stories about my
- 57:01Speaker 6: pap Paul. That's I think the book that I'll publish
- 57:03Speaker 6: is my popon neighbors stories because he was such a
- 57:06Speaker 6: wise man without an education. And then, uh, I don't.
- 57:11Speaker 6: I think I will write a book someday. It's just
- 57:12Speaker 6: not something right now that I want to do, but
- 57:14Speaker 6: I think I will in time. Yeah, it sucks to
- 57:16Speaker 6: write it.
- 57:17Speaker 8: It sucks. It's awesome.
- 57:18Speaker 2: Three.
- 57:18Speaker 6: So you were sinking three questions about the books. But yeah,
- 57:20Speaker 6: everything in here has been read and it's all coded,
- 57:23Speaker 6: and you can talk to my administrative assistant down there.
- 57:25Speaker 6: Does Dewey decimal system in here? You pull the cards out.
- 57:27Speaker 6: We tried. We tried that, and we had stacks everywhere.
- 57:31Speaker 6: It was going to be leadership, it was going to
- 57:32Speaker 6: be body language, it was going to be all these
- 57:34Speaker 6: different and then finally I just said, forget it. Just
- 57:37Speaker 6: put all the blue books together, all the red books together,
- 57:39Speaker 6: all the yellow books together, because I do remember what
- 57:42Speaker 6: color books are, and that's the way I remember, Like
- 57:44Speaker 6: that's a yellow cover book, or that's a green box.
- 57:46Speaker 6: That's it looks cool. It just looks. It looks a
- 57:48Speaker 6: little better. Yeah, there's a little discrepancies around, but I'm colorbline. Yeah. Yeah.
- 57:54Speaker 1: There's also like a DVD collection here, and I see
- 57:56Speaker 1: you know some movie pictures here. Yeah, you got Star Wars,
- 57:59Speaker 1: Bull Bulldeer Correct, Rocky. What's your favorite let's say sports movie?
- 58:06Speaker 1: And then movie in general?
- 58:07Speaker 6: Few good men. Number one. You may not know this
- 58:10Speaker 6: about me, but I do have my top one thousand
- 58:12Speaker 6: movies ranked in order on IMDb. You can look it
- 58:14Speaker 6: up when we leave one through thousand. What do you
- 58:17Speaker 6: mean how do we look that up? I can pull
- 58:18Speaker 6: it up on It's like a web page. Wait, we
- 58:20Speaker 6: can go on. We can find it on the internet. Yeah,
- 58:23Speaker 6: right now, what's on IMDb dot com? It's this huge.
- 58:26Speaker 6: Now I know what that site is. Coach, I'm saying,
- 58:28Speaker 6: but how do we find yours top? My neighbors you
- 58:30Speaker 6: heard of it bones and you just went on, so
- 58:32Speaker 6: you have like an account. Here's what happened. I'm in Seattle.
- 58:35Speaker 6: This came up in an interview that I had my
- 58:37Speaker 6: top thousand movies ranked, and somebody said, I don't believe you.
- 58:40Speaker 6: I said, here you go. I have them typed out.
- 58:43Speaker 6: They're in order. They're my favorite list. It's been well document,
- 58:45Speaker 6: it's been well thought through a few good men. Number one,
- 58:48Speaker 6: it's never been touched. The top ten has moved around
- 58:51Speaker 6: some never been touched, even by Forrest Gump. No, Forst Gump.
- 58:54Speaker 6: I think is eleven. Uh, maybe slid to fourteen. I'll
- 58:57Speaker 6: check when we when we But we do this as Barbie.
- 59:00Speaker 6: I'll tell people to name a movie and I can
- 59:02Speaker 6: tell you where it falls within my top thousand within
- 59:04Speaker 6: a few but it is, it's ranked. And when I so,
- 59:07Speaker 6: somebody in Seattle heard about it, and IMDb reached out
- 59:10Speaker 6: to me and said, would you please publish your lists?
- 59:12Speaker 6: Oh that's cool. So it's out. It's out there. I'm
- 59:14Speaker 6: a published. I guess I am published now that I
- 59:16Speaker 6: think about it. Yeah, sports movie on the internet though sport.
- 59:18Speaker 6: We found it, we found it, Oh, I got it.
- 59:20Speaker 3: Hunt for October's number two, Hunt for ad October, The
- 59:23Speaker 3: Silence of the Lambs, number three, Hoosiers four, that's my
- 59:25Speaker 3: favorite sports movie. Oh brother, we're out. There's five, Moneyball six,
- 59:28Speaker 3: Top Gun seven. I'm gonna do all thousands. You gots
- 59:30Speaker 3: fast forward for a little bit. I'll tell you what
- 59:32Speaker 3: one thousand is. Mama Mia zero eight original Top Gun yes.
- 59:37Speaker 6: I've never seen the other one, the new one sending
- 59:39Speaker 6: the new one. Yes, I haven't seen. It's a good
- 59:41Speaker 6: purple rain.
- 59:42Speaker 7: Ten.
- 59:42Speaker 6: That's good shaw shak eleven, it was kind of low eleven. Yeah,
- 59:45Speaker 6: I think for same year Shaw Shaker forst Gump up?
- 59:49Speaker 6: What is Forest Gump twelve? Oh? So what happened was
- 59:53Speaker 6: Moneyball moved up so that one moved down one?
- 59:55Speaker 1: And I think you're referring to I think Forrest Gump
- 59:57Speaker 1: knocking shawshnak out or was it the well?
- 59:59Speaker 6: Those two plus what's the Royal? Which is oh, pul
- 1:00:04Speaker 6: fiction a best pictures and I think one of I
- 1:00:08Speaker 6: don't know which one, but this is my list. It's
- 1:00:11Speaker 6: not the best movies of all time? What I what?
- 1:00:13Speaker 6: My criteria was this? If one was on TBS and
- 1:00:16Speaker 6: one was on T and T, what am I watching?
- 1:00:18Speaker 6: And I few good Men? Is that movie for me?
- 1:00:20Speaker 6: I will watch it. Start hit your thirties, keep going,
- 1:00:24Speaker 6: You're gonna get to it. Prince May.
- 1:00:25Speaker 1: I love Hits, Shield the Dreams, Field the Dreams, and.
- 1:00:27Speaker 6: Feel the Dreams. It's pretty high. It's pretty high. And
- 1:00:30Speaker 6: so like I have these arguments people and everybody goes, oh,
- 1:00:32Speaker 6: that's too low, and I said, we'll make your list.
- 1:00:34Speaker 6: That's because you'll be surprised how quick you get to eighty.
- 1:00:38Speaker 6: Like there's good movies in the hundreds on this list,
- 1:00:41Speaker 6: and I still have. Now this is not the most update.
- 1:00:44Speaker 6: I have a working living document that every time I
- 1:00:47Speaker 6: watch a movie, I put it into the ring.
- 1:00:48Speaker 1: What's the last movie that you watched that made the list?
- 1:00:51Speaker 6: Last movie I watched to be into the list? What
- 1:00:56Speaker 6: was the last It was the Oppenheimer. Oh yeah, that
- 1:00:59Speaker 6: meant the hop An hos on listen. Well, no, because
- 1:01:02Speaker 6: I'm I don't want to seem really weird. But it's
- 1:01:04Speaker 6: over thirty seven hundred. Now, oh that's just are you
- 1:01:08Speaker 6: I have?
- 1:01:08Speaker 3: I saw I take medicine for my OCD being a
- 1:01:10Speaker 3: little lot of control. Sometimes are you OCD?
- 1:01:12Speaker 6: Probably? But it's not medicated? Okay, maybe you should.
- 1:01:15Speaker 8: It's my point.
- 1:01:16Speaker 6: I have some can we try? It's one of those
- 1:01:19Speaker 6: ones that I could try and it wouldn't It wouldn't
- 1:01:22Speaker 6: affect you at all. Partly part of the deals. I
- 1:01:23Speaker 6: don't sleep a lot. I never did, even prior to
- 1:01:26Speaker 6: having a young family and all that. But I wonder
- 1:01:27Speaker 6: why you have a heart attack. Coach I don't know,
- 1:01:29Speaker 6: but that was before that was before post doc Ergo Propter,
- 1:01:35Speaker 6: howk that he's like?
- 1:01:35Speaker 3: I was b linked in three months and I never sleep,
- 1:01:37Speaker 3: but I can't figure out my heart's breaking down. A
- 1:01:40Speaker 3: couple more of these movies. I'm only at one, like
- 1:01:43Speaker 3: I'm in the hundreds. Come on, but one eleven is
- 1:01:45Speaker 3: a Gladiator that's a great.
- 1:01:46Speaker 6: Which is a great movie. But be you surprised? How quick? Now?
- 1:01:50Speaker 6: I also have my top fifty seven thousand songs ranked
- 1:01:53Speaker 6: in order. Wow wow on the playlist number one, Well,
- 1:01:56Speaker 6: go to hey, go to Billboard dot com. They're all
- 1:01:58Speaker 6: they're all up there that he's ablished. I'm not on
- 1:02:01Speaker 6: that one. But that's what I did during COVIDU was
- 1:02:03Speaker 6: I made a music list and a playlist of all
- 1:02:06Speaker 6: those songs. Wow yeah, And number one is Sweet Child
- 1:02:09Speaker 6: of Mine.
- 1:02:10Speaker 4: Oh let's go.
- 1:02:11Speaker 6: I know, I know, I get. I get ridiculed for
- 1:02:14Speaker 6: it an awful lot. What's wrong with what's wrong with
- 1:02:15Speaker 6: Sweet Child of Mine? It was? It was my favorite song.
- 1:02:18Speaker 6: I'm not saying it's the best song, and it's not.
- 1:02:20Speaker 6: You're right, and it's not any means it's not.
- 1:02:22Speaker 3: The best song, but it's not even their best song. Yeah,
- 1:02:25Speaker 3: like iud of got like November Rain. But right list,
- 1:02:28Speaker 3: it's definitely your. I do have a list, Bring me
- 1:02:30Speaker 3: your top five seven thousand.
- 1:02:32Speaker 6: I don't. I don't. I'll pass out. I have a
- 1:02:34Speaker 6: heart attack before I get to ten thousand, get to
- 1:02:36Speaker 6: one hundred.
- 1:02:36Speaker 3: But I got like I've done, like top twenty five,
- 1:02:39Speaker 3: Like I know my top five, which is like blue
- 1:02:41Speaker 3: Ice crying in the rain, stop this train, John Mayer,
- 1:02:44Speaker 3: ain't no sunshine, Bill Withers, like, I can probably get
- 1:02:47Speaker 3: to twenty Matt Stell And what's that one that goes
- 1:02:51Speaker 3: in the time, I'll pray for you, for you, that's
- 1:02:53Speaker 3: number four. Yeah, I know it's five thy seventh nineteen.
- 1:02:57Speaker 6: Check it. Yeah, I just know it's checking right now.
- 1:03:00Speaker 6: Check it out. Okay, well how about that? Have you
- 1:03:02Speaker 6: seen it? Okay? What I haven't read the book that
- 1:03:04Speaker 6: you pass out, and I like to read.
- 1:03:06Speaker 8: What is the book?
- 1:03:06Speaker 6: The Sound of Time? Speed of Trust?
- 1:03:08Speaker 8: Okay?
- 1:03:09Speaker 6: Have you ever do you have a bunch of copies?
- 1:03:12Speaker 8: Okay, I'm gonna take one.
- 1:03:13Speaker 4: Have you ever?
- 1:03:14Speaker 6: Have you ever seen Man on the Moon? Man on
- 1:03:16Speaker 6: the Moon? Yeah about Andy Coffman. Oh no, I'd love
- 1:03:18Speaker 6: to see it. So is it a movie?
- 1:03:20Speaker 7: Ye?
- 1:03:20Speaker 3: Yeah, Andy Coffin died before I knew. Oh I read
- 1:03:24Speaker 3: Shift Your Mind.
- 1:03:24Speaker 6: That's a really good one. It's really good. He's a
- 1:03:26Speaker 6: great guy.
- 1:03:29Speaker 3: Do you know who I was hanging out with on
- 1:03:30Speaker 3: zoom the other day was Malcolm Gladwell, No kidd and
- 1:03:33Speaker 3: we did a project together.
- 1:03:34Speaker 6: I believe it. I saw a bunch of them all
- 1:03:36Speaker 6: over there. Yeah, he was how cool are you guys?
- 1:03:38Speaker 8: What is for interesting?
- 1:03:40Speaker 7: He?
- 1:03:41Speaker 6: All of his books are one that I pass and
- 1:03:43Speaker 6: share every single one of them that he has.
- 1:03:45Speaker 3: Yeah, I geeked out and I get but we both
- 1:03:48Speaker 3: get to be around cool people all the time. But
- 1:03:49Speaker 3: there's some people and for me it's always like old
- 1:03:51Speaker 3: school razorbacks and authors and I'm always like, man, you're
- 1:03:58Speaker 3: like Malcolm gladwea, I just like stare at him.
- 1:04:00Speaker 6: Yeah. The mind of the people like Gladwell that write
- 1:04:04Speaker 6: like that and the freakonomics people that blow me away
- 1:04:06Speaker 6: that the way they think they'll know. Harari a new
- 1:04:09Speaker 6: writer that's out that wrote Sapiens.
- 1:04:11Speaker 3: I read Sapiens. It took me a while because that
- 1:04:13Speaker 3: book is huge. What was crazy to me about? Say,
- 1:04:15Speaker 3: we'll get out with each other for a second.
- 1:04:16Speaker 6: Yeah, sapiens.
- 1:04:17Speaker 3: What was crazy was when they talked about the humans
- 1:04:18Speaker 3: that would survive though, the first ones that could stand
- 1:04:20Speaker 3: because they could see because they were on all fours, right,
- 1:04:22Speaker 3: and that we were all on all fours. But the
- 1:04:24Speaker 3: ones that really thrived are the ones that could stand
- 1:04:26Speaker 3: on two because they lifted and had higher vision.
- 1:04:29Speaker 6: Farther on the horizon. Crazy, and it's why we have
- 1:04:32Speaker 6: It's why when you hear something rustling in the woods,
- 1:04:35Speaker 6: if you better, you better assume it's a lion and
- 1:04:37Speaker 6: not the wind. We still have those our brain, our
- 1:04:40Speaker 6: brain goes to warts a lion in Arkansas. Yeah, yeah,
- 1:04:44Speaker 6: lions are everywhere, got them out in the wild.
- 1:04:49Speaker 3: So I'm gonna read, I'm gonna read that book and
- 1:04:50Speaker 3: then you watch, Uh, I'll watch Man on the Man
- 1:04:53Speaker 3: on the Moon because it's a Coffin true story.
- 1:04:56Speaker 6: But you know who Andy Coffin is. Oh, I remember
- 1:04:57Speaker 6: when Jerry Lawler slapped him on the Yes, I mean
- 1:05:00Speaker 6: I mean it was I know exactly. And I'm setting
- 1:05:02Speaker 6: here wondering to myself, how did I miss that movie?
- 1:05:06Speaker 3: Because you're making a list of your top seven million
- 1:05:09Speaker 3: serials and.
- 1:05:10Speaker 6: Jam carry Jim Carrey plays them is Jim Carry It
- 1:05:13Speaker 6: was awesome.
- 1:05:14Speaker 3: I bet it is phenomenal like Letterman's my hero. But
- 1:05:17Speaker 3: Andy Kaufman I never got to see him or ever.
- 1:05:22Speaker 3: He died in the early eighties and so or like
- 1:05:25Speaker 3: eighty one, so I never But but the things that
- 1:05:27Speaker 3: he would do that weren't even supposed to be funny,
- 1:05:30Speaker 3: that were just let's see what everybody's reaction is.
- 1:05:33Speaker 6: So I'm gonna read that book.
- 1:05:35Speaker 8: You watch my movie, and we'll check back in.
- 1:05:37Speaker 6: I can't wait. Okay, one final you guys want to
- 1:05:39Speaker 6: give me an assignment? Yeah, you want to read them?
- 1:05:43Speaker 6: I could read the Serpentine. We're going to have you
- 1:05:45Speaker 6: go through my top fifty seven thousand song list and
- 1:05:48Speaker 6: see check for duplicates that I could do. That's funny.
- 1:05:51Speaker 3: My final question, coach, Okay, the very first game you
- 1:05:54Speaker 3: coach is the head coach here at you alma mater,
- 1:05:56Speaker 3: the school that you love when you walk out the
- 1:05:58Speaker 3: first time, let's say the home game. Yeah, because I
- 1:06:01Speaker 3: don't know if your first game was a home game
- 1:06:02Speaker 3: or not.
- 1:06:02Speaker 6: It was not, but I remember the first home game
- 1:06:04Speaker 6: very like, talk to me about that. Just the whole
- 1:06:06Speaker 6: day was so you know people will say numbing, people
- 1:06:09Speaker 6: will say but that's the best way I could describe it.
- 1:06:11Speaker 6: It was just floating on air. It was it was
- 1:06:15Speaker 6: everything was in slow motion. First time I heard my
- 1:06:18Speaker 6: name announced over the loud speaker, the hog call, for
- 1:06:21Speaker 6: the first spontaneous time. It hit different than when I
- 1:06:26Speaker 6: was fan, you know, growing up, the boy that my
- 1:06:29Speaker 6: granddad was taken to all the games, and it just
- 1:06:32Speaker 6: hit completely different. And even as an assistant coach, I
- 1:06:34Speaker 6: had been here twice as an assistant coach, and I'd
- 1:06:36Speaker 6: heard the fight song. I had heard all that. But
- 1:06:40Speaker 6: when when it's your team and it's and I know
- 1:06:45Speaker 6: it may sound corny, it still feels the same today.
- 1:06:49Speaker 6: It has not gotten old, has not been and I
- 1:06:52Speaker 6: think that is the difference when you talk about people
- 1:06:54Speaker 6: who coach at their alma mater, that's what you get. Now.
- 1:06:56Speaker 6: It doesn't mean that I'm going to be any more
- 1:06:58Speaker 6: successful than somebody that wasn't born in this zip code,
- 1:07:03Speaker 6: But I do care about it. A deeper understanding and appreciation,
- 1:07:07Speaker 6: I think, and I hope that comes out to our
- 1:07:09Speaker 6: kids and the way I protect them, and then the
- 1:07:11Speaker 6: way I support the other coaches on our campus during
- 1:07:14Speaker 6: their times, because like I said, I'm first and foremost
- 1:07:16Speaker 6: a razorback fan of all eighteen sports, and then try
- 1:07:20Speaker 6: to do the best to make fans out of the
- 1:07:22Speaker 6: sport that I get to coach. Well, coach, we appreciate you,
- 1:07:24Speaker 6: thank you, thanks for having me.
