- 1:24Speaker 1: in our next guest, Kelly Stewart Splash Sports. You know
- 1:28Speaker 1: her as Kelly in Vegas. She joins us on the
- 1:31Speaker 1: Farm Bureau Insurance guest line. Football season is here and
- 1:36Speaker 1: Kelly is hosting a two hundred thousand dollars college football
- 1:41Speaker 1: survivor contest on splash Sports.
- 1:44Speaker 2: Kelly, good morning, How are you doing?
- 1:47Speaker 3: Hey?
- 1:48Speaker 4: Good morning? It's been a crazy one already.
- 1:51Speaker 3: I've been fighting with AI trying to build a college
- 1:53Speaker 3: football model because I gotta get up with the times.
- 1:56Speaker 4: Like this is this.
- 1:57Speaker 3: Handwritten thing that used to take me twenty or thirty
- 1:59Speaker 3: hours of We can be done so much faster, except
- 2:02Speaker 3: for I've got to get the computer to be as
- 2:04Speaker 3: smart as I am.
- 2:04Speaker 2: You're gonna you're gonna love that, for sure.
- 2:08Speaker 1: So tell me this. You've got Kansas State behind you,
- 2:11Speaker 1: all right? So are you a Are you a case
- 2:14Speaker 1: state alum?
- 2:15Speaker 4: I am a case state alum. Yes?
- 2:18Speaker 2: Were you now?
- 2:19Speaker 1: You look really young? Were you there when Bill Snyder
- 2:21Speaker 1: was there? Or did you miss that time where y'all
- 2:23Speaker 1: were winning big?
- 2:25Speaker 3: Well? I appreciate the compliment, but no, Bill Snyder absolutely
- 2:28Speaker 3: ruined my childhood and Subsequently, my fandom for the rest
- 2:31Speaker 3: of my life moved to Manhattan, Kansas in ninety three
- 2:36Speaker 3: when K State football got to go to their first,
- 2:38Speaker 3: well second bowl game, but first of my lifetime, and
- 2:41Speaker 3: uh yeah, the expectations couldn't be higher. Always thank you
- 2:46Speaker 3: Bill for making sure that nine wins is the floor.
- 2:50Speaker 1: That guy was incredible. I mean, he went to arguably
- 2:54Speaker 1: the worst football program in America and then all y'all
- 2:58Speaker 1: did was win for like fifteen years or maybe a
- 3:01Speaker 1: little bit more.
- 3:02Speaker 3: And it's actually crazy he does not get as much
- 3:05Speaker 3: credit that he should. I know, what we just saw
- 3:08Speaker 3: coach Signetti do last year and last couple of years
- 3:10Speaker 3: there in Indiana has been nothing short of incredible as well.
- 3:13Speaker 4: But I do think we laugh about some of.
- 3:16Speaker 3: These teams playing cupcakes, and that's what Bill did in
- 3:19Speaker 3: the nineties.
- 3:20Speaker 4: That's all they did is play.
- 3:21Speaker 3: Cupcakes those first few games, work out the kinks, figure
- 3:23Speaker 3: out who your starters were, and get you ready for
- 3:26Speaker 3: at the time Big eight play and then of course
- 3:28Speaker 3: Big twelve later.
- 3:30Speaker 1: On Hall of Famer, Great coach. I'm trying to think,
- 3:34Speaker 1: who's your favorite player from that time from K Show?
- 3:37Speaker 3: Jared Cooper hands down, We just had this conversation the
- 3:40Speaker 3: other day, me and some other k State fans. He
- 3:42Speaker 3: was a strong safety in the late nineties early two
- 3:46Speaker 3: thousand Madman. He was always all over the field. He
- 3:50Speaker 3: was always the guy getting the crowd hypes. He was
- 3:52Speaker 3: just a bulldozer. He went on to win a Super
- 3:54Speaker 3: Bowl actually with the Carolina Panthers.
- 3:56Speaker 1: Nice okay, Kelly and Vegas on the Out of Bounds
- 3:59Speaker 1: Show ESPN one oh five, None the Zone, Splash Sports
- 4:04Speaker 1: and football season is here.
- 4:06Speaker 2: Good time to have Kelly on. She went to SEC
- 4:08Speaker 2: Media Days. Were you you were at SEC Media Days? Yeah? Yeah, okay.
- 4:13Speaker 1: So Lane, you know we've got Ole miss Mississippi State
- 4:17Speaker 1: here and our border schools, Kelly, are LSU and Bama.
- 4:21Speaker 1: You know, you can be in Tuscaloosa or Baton Rouge
- 4:24Speaker 1: in two and a half hours. And so now Lane
- 4:28Speaker 1: jump ship and goes to Baton Rouge. What, in your opinion,
- 4:32Speaker 1: how did Lane do at SEC Media Days? Considering he's
- 4:37Speaker 1: a media hound and anything he says, we all freak out,
- 4:40Speaker 1: you know, And that's what I wanted.
- 4:42Speaker 4: I told I was there with my best friend Areel.
- 4:44Speaker 3: There was a couple of things in the works that
- 4:47Speaker 3: we already had prior commitments when we decided, hey, we
- 4:49Speaker 3: should also just cruise up the road to Tampa and
- 4:52Speaker 3: go to SEC media days. And I told her, I said,
- 4:54Speaker 3: we have to be there for Lane. And whoever did
- 4:57Speaker 3: the scheduling did a great job because they said, all right,
- 5:00Speaker 3: you want everybody to stay all week, you got to
- 5:02Speaker 3: make Lane on Thursday.
- 5:03Speaker 4: And so there I am like, wait, wait, waiting, come on, Lane,
- 5:07Speaker 4: let's hear it. And he was on a very short leash.
- 5:10Speaker 3: I think someone has not only basically said stay off
- 5:13Speaker 3: social media, but you better be on your best behavior.
- 5:16Speaker 4: So from that standpoint, I was a little disappointed.
- 5:19Speaker 3: But of course, per usual, Lane said all the right
- 5:21Speaker 3: things right, He's got his team ready. The expectations could
- 5:24Speaker 3: not be higher there in Baton Rouge, and I think
- 5:26Speaker 3: that's a detriment unfortunately for certain teams.
- 5:30Speaker 1: Right.
- 5:30Speaker 3: I mentioned Bill Snyder earlier and what my expectations are.
- 5:33Speaker 3: My expectations as a Kansas State fan are never national championships.
- 5:37Speaker 3: If you're an LSU fan, it is national championship.
- 5:40Speaker 2: Or bus no doubt, no doubt.
- 5:43Speaker 1: Kelly Stewart on the Out of Bounds show Splash Sports.
- 5:47Speaker 2: Okay, let's talk about this.
- 5:49Speaker 1: You're hosting a two hundred thousand dollars college football survivor
- 5:54Speaker 1: contest on Splash Sports.
- 5:56Speaker 2: Walk me through it, Kelly.
- 5:57Speaker 3: Yeah, this is our third year doing it. This was
- 5:59Speaker 3: something different. I lived in Vegas for a very long time.
- 6:03Speaker 3: NFL survivor contests started to get really big out there.
- 6:06Speaker 3: I think we've all probably played in them with our
- 6:08Speaker 3: buddies back in the day, whether it was office football
- 6:10Speaker 3: pool or one of those sites. Well, the Splash guys
- 6:12Speaker 3: bought all of those sites up and said, hey, we're
- 6:14Speaker 3: gonna put everything in one spot. I don't know if
- 6:16Speaker 3: you've ever forgotten to put in a pick. It is
- 6:19Speaker 3: the most excruciatingly painful thing you could ever do to yourself,
- 6:23Speaker 3: especially when you're later on into the season. But now
- 6:26Speaker 3: with everything in one spot, it sends you an email
- 6:28Speaker 3: and says, hey, you are missing an injury, so get
- 6:30Speaker 3: on it.
- 6:31Speaker 4: But we did.
- 6:32Speaker 3: I think we did fifty thousand the first year, one
- 6:33Speaker 3: hundred thousand last year. This year, Splash and I are
- 6:36Speaker 3: guaranteeing two hundred thousand dollars. But we made it a
- 6:39Speaker 3: little bit harder because the past few seasons we had
- 6:42Speaker 3: people tie and I don't want ties. I want someone
- 6:44Speaker 3: to get a take home that whole prize. So we're
- 6:48Speaker 3: doing Big twelve, Big ten. In sec we had to
- 6:51Speaker 3: kick out the acc because they're not any good anyway,
- 6:54Speaker 3: I digress on that note. But you're picking two teams
- 6:58Speaker 3: per week. Okay, it gets a little spicy there. Week
- 7:01Speaker 3: six looks a little tough. Week twelve is always a
- 7:03Speaker 3: little tough. So keep in mind there as you're mapping
- 7:06Speaker 3: out your season. And that's the other thing about Splash
- 7:09Speaker 3: You can map out your entire.
- 7:10Speaker 4: Season ahead of time.
- 7:11Speaker 3: Go through on the app or the website, and you
- 7:14Speaker 3: can map out the entire season. Hundred bucks to enter.
- 7:16Speaker 3: You can have up to sixty six entries, which is great.
- 7:19Speaker 3: So if you want to have multiple entries and map
- 7:22Speaker 3: out different strategies, I think that's the way to go.
- 7:26Speaker 3: I'll probably have five or six myself, depending on how
- 7:29Speaker 3: full this gets. You know, we got what four weeks
- 7:33Speaker 3: ish a little bit till a college football season starts
- 7:36Speaker 3: September fifth, so exactly, actually a month from today is
- 7:38Speaker 3: when this contest is going to close.
- 7:41Speaker 1: All right, this is cool. Kelly Stewart on the show
- 7:44Speaker 1: Splash Sports. They've got the app she just mentioned I
- 7:46Speaker 1: think that's the easy way to do this. And she's
- 7:50Speaker 1: hosting a two hundred thousand dollars college football survivor contest
- 7:55Speaker 1: on splash Sports. They've been doing it, They've upped it
- 7:58Speaker 1: fifty hundred. Now she doesn't want e bay Tota. She
- 8:02Speaker 1: wants somebody to go home with the two Hundai all right,
- 8:05Speaker 1: and that way you can have a big time over
- 8:07Speaker 1: Christmas holidays in the new year. Also, you've you've got
- 8:12Speaker 1: the biggest NFL survivor contest ever on splash sports in
- 8:17Speaker 1: the apps are this.
- 8:20Speaker 4: Is crazy crazy.
- 8:21Speaker 3: The guys are crazy. I know the owners of splash
- 8:24Speaker 3: op and with them. This will be my fourth football
- 8:27Speaker 3: season with these guys. And when we first met, we
- 8:30Speaker 3: met through my agent and said, hey, you got to
- 8:31Speaker 3: meet these guys. They got a really interesting concept here
- 8:33Speaker 3: and I'm thinking, okay, but it's never going to match
- 8:35Speaker 3: up to Vegas.
- 8:36Speaker 4: Well guess what here we are.
- 8:38Speaker 3: This is now the largest one in the country and
- 8:41Speaker 3: probably the world. Twenty one million dollars guaranteed. So even
- 8:44Speaker 3: if the contest does not fill up, they're putting up
- 8:48Speaker 3: the money. And what they've really started to figure out
- 8:50Speaker 3: is that instead of having to fly to Vegas, get
- 8:53Speaker 3: a hotel room, hire a proxy, do all these other
- 8:55Speaker 3: things that there are people in other states that just
- 8:58Speaker 3: don't have that ability. So thirty five states right now
- 9:01Speaker 3: they are legal in You can. Also a new thing
- 9:03Speaker 3: that they're having for this contest and others is you
- 9:06Speaker 3: can split your entry with your buddies.
- 9:08Speaker 4: So they're doing a new marketplace they just launched to day.
- 9:11Speaker 3: I don't have all of the details fully on that,
- 9:14Speaker 3: but head over to splash sports dot com. You guys
- 9:15Speaker 3: can check that out. So, you know, I got a
- 9:17Speaker 3: buddy in DC who wants to do one of these
- 9:19Speaker 3: entries with me. Perfect I go and I pay my half,
- 9:21Speaker 3: He goes in and pays his half, and now.
- 9:23Speaker 4: We are each joint owners.
- 9:25Speaker 3: So you know, kind of one of those things in
- 9:27Speaker 3: Vegas when I had a proxy service, you know, people
- 9:29Speaker 3: are like, how do I split this.
- 9:30Speaker 4: With my buddy?
- 9:30Speaker 3: I'm like, you better have a good lawyer and they
- 9:32Speaker 3: better write you up some airtight stuff because only one
- 9:35Speaker 3: person is allowed to own the entry, and when you're
- 9:38Speaker 3: going in for one thousand bucks and you make it
- 9:40Speaker 3: in late, you're gonna want to be able to profit
- 9:43Speaker 3: off that, whether it's hedging at a sportsbook or nice
- 9:47Speaker 3: new thing about splash to have a marketplace so you
- 9:48Speaker 3: will actually be able to sell your entry to possible
- 9:52Speaker 3: prospective buyers.
- 9:53Speaker 1: How about that, Kelly Stewart, splash sports dot Com and
- 9:56Speaker 1: the Splash Sports app joining us on the Out of
- 9:59Speaker 1: Bound Show ESPN one oh five None the Zone brought
- 10:03Speaker 1: to you by award winning Dancing Rabbit Golf Club. Okay, Kelly,
- 10:09Speaker 1: how how did you get into the business?
- 10:13Speaker 3: This question is always so funny to me because I
- 10:15Speaker 3: think I've always been a gambler my entire life, and
- 10:19Speaker 3: again you complimented me at the beginning. But I graduated
- 10:22Speaker 3: college in two thousand and seven, so I did not
- 10:26Speaker 3: have a job really readily available.
- 10:28Speaker 4: There's a couple of.
- 10:28Speaker 3: Internships that I had gotten, and I thought, oh my god,
- 10:31Speaker 3: how am I gonna get a job. All my friends
- 10:33Speaker 3: are getting fired right before the two thousand and eight recession,
- 10:36Speaker 3: and I.
- 10:37Speaker 4: Told my dad. I was like, Hey, I think I'm
- 10:38Speaker 4: gonna move to Vegas. A couple of my girlfriends are
- 10:40Speaker 4: moving out there, and He's like, uh, okay, go ahead.
- 10:44Speaker 4: And the gambling just really took off from there.
- 10:47Speaker 3: I had some buddies that were always really impressed with
- 10:50Speaker 3: my sports knowledge, at least as far as the Big
- 10:52Speaker 3: twelve goes in Kansas State, And they said, well, why
- 10:55Speaker 3: don't you try to apply this to gambling. You're living
- 10:57Speaker 3: out in Vegas at the time. Vegas is the only
- 10:59Speaker 3: place you could bet on sports. And it really started
- 11:02Speaker 3: to blossom from there. I hit a eighty five to
- 11:04Speaker 3: one parlay and twenty thirty one, and yeah, my phone
- 11:07Speaker 3: started ringing.
- 11:08Speaker 4: Off the hook and how'd you do this? Did your
- 11:10Speaker 4: dad help you? Did your boyfriend help you?
- 11:11Speaker 3: And I was like, no, I I've been watching these
- 11:13Speaker 3: teams and these are the these were some really like basically,
- 11:17Speaker 3: I'm looking for underdogs every single week that I think
- 11:19Speaker 3: can went out right, six, seven, eight, nine, ten point underdogs,
- 11:22Speaker 3: and I like to just parlay them together for a
- 11:26Speaker 3: little cherry on top. Right, I'm vet them against the spread,
- 11:28Speaker 3: I'm betting them on the money line. But that parlay
- 11:31Speaker 3: is just an extra fun if I happened to go
- 11:33Speaker 3: three and oh, and it really blossomed my career and
- 11:36Speaker 3: to be able to do tons of media things and
- 11:39Speaker 3: stuff like that. And here we are thirteen years later.
- 11:42Speaker 3: It's crazy that I get to do this for a
- 11:44Speaker 3: living and it's not hard work, especially if I can
- 11:47Speaker 3: get my good friend Claude to help me out on
- 11:49Speaker 3: some of them models.
- 11:50Speaker 1: You damn right, We're on Claude all the time, Kelly
- 11:52Speaker 1: Stewart splash sports dot com. They are ready for college
- 11:56Speaker 1: football and the NFL. She joins us on ESPN one
- 11:59Speaker 1: o four on the Zone. What an incredible story. You
- 12:02Speaker 1: hit a parlay eighty five to one. The phone starts ringing,
- 12:06Speaker 1: and no pun intended, she parlays it into a hell
- 12:08Speaker 1: of a career.
- 12:10Speaker 2: Are you still in Vegas or did you move out?
- 12:12Speaker 4: So I did move to Florida.
- 12:14Speaker 3: Twenty twenty was kind of rough out there for me,
- 12:17Speaker 3: and I said, you know what, And actually, it's funny.
- 12:18Speaker 3: Mississippi was one of the states on my list because
- 12:21Speaker 3: I was like, all right, who's getting sports gambling next?
- 12:23Speaker 3: Where can I go? And at the time, you guys
- 12:25Speaker 3: were talking about getting rid of state taxes? So I
- 12:28Speaker 3: was like, all right, we got Tennessee, we got South Dakota,
- 12:31Speaker 3: we got Mississippi, we got Florida, and my family and
- 12:34Speaker 3: I decided, hey, you know what, Florida is it?
- 12:37Speaker 4: So we are down here just south of Tampa, loving life.
- 12:40Speaker 1: Oh yeah, okay, So Kansas State, do you have an
- 12:43Speaker 1: adopted you're a case state alone.
- 12:47Speaker 2: Do you have an adopted SEC team?
- 12:51Speaker 3: So?
- 12:52Speaker 2: Are you a Gator right out side of Gainesville?
- 12:54Speaker 3: And so I got them a little little piece of
- 12:56Speaker 3: land out there. We've been to several Gators games. I
- 12:59Speaker 3: just can't do it. I can't be a Florida Gators fan.
- 13:02Speaker 4: I don't. I tried. I thought, all right, this is
- 13:05Speaker 4: gonna be a fun team. Last year.
- 13:06Speaker 3: I thought they were going to be better than they were.
- 13:08Speaker 3: I had usf plus the points. They were never supposed
- 13:10Speaker 3: to lose that game, and I go, I can't do it.
- 13:13Speaker 3: I don't want to be a fan of any team.
- 13:15Speaker 3: I want to be able to bet on and bet against.
- 13:18Speaker 3: I will say, however, when k State played in Starkville,
- 13:22Speaker 3: what was that? Well over a decade ago. We went
- 13:25Speaker 3: down there, had a great time. Old Miss Going to
- 13:28Speaker 3: Oxford is on my bucket list as well as Baton Rouge.
- 13:31Speaker 4: But otherwise I've been to.
- 13:32Speaker 3: Almost every other SEC team, at least the ones in
- 13:36Speaker 3: Texas because they used to be in the Big twelve.
- 13:37Speaker 3: So as long as one of them is not it.
- 13:40Speaker 3: Even though I did bet Oklahoma to win the.
- 13:42Speaker 4: SEC this year.
- 13:44Speaker 3: As long as one of them is a team on
- 13:46Speaker 3: my fan list, we'll call it good.
- 13:49Speaker 1: Okay, So you you went to the Mississippi State KSE
- 13:52Speaker 1: state game.
- 13:53Speaker 2: I think it was twenty nineteen roughly.
- 13:55Speaker 3: No, it was before that, there was it was in
- 13:58Speaker 3: it was when was it? Because you guys played in Manhattan?
- 14:02Speaker 1: Yeah, my producer went, Yeah, he went up to Manhattan
- 14:06Speaker 1: for the game.
- 14:07Speaker 3: Yeah, and it was in Starkville. I want to say
- 14:10Speaker 3: when Dak was the quarterback, but I.
- 14:11Speaker 2: Okay, wrong, Okay, I'm glad you went. You had a
- 14:14Speaker 2: good time.
- 14:15Speaker 4: Yeah, great college town.
- 14:16Speaker 3: I'm a big I love going to different college towns
- 14:19Speaker 3: and experience in it. Uh somehow still in my soul,
- 14:22Speaker 3: I am in college. So it's just too one of
- 14:24Speaker 3: those fun things to go experience. Like I said, I've
- 14:27Speaker 3: heard great things about Oxford. I've heard great things about
- 14:30Speaker 3: other plays. I've been to Athens. I thought Athens, Yeah,
- 14:34Speaker 3: I thought it was a cool town. Gainesville I don't love,
- 14:37Speaker 3: like I mentioned, I don't know why. I feel like
- 14:39Speaker 3: there's just a lot going on over there in this
- 14:41Speaker 3: like weird area. But they have a great stadium. Highly
- 14:44Speaker 3: recommend going to see a game.
- 14:45Speaker 4: There as well.
- 14:46Speaker 2: Have you been to Auburn So I haven't been to Auburn.
- 14:49Speaker 3: If you do, remember Auburn did go to Manhattan, Kansas.
- 14:53Speaker 3: I want to say twenty fourteen sounds about right. Seven
- 14:58Speaker 3: and a half point favorites. K State missus like three
- 15:00Speaker 3: field goals. Tyler Lockett drops.
- 15:03Speaker 4: Two passes in the end zone. It was awful. The
- 15:07Speaker 4: SEC chance still haunt me today.
- 15:09Speaker 3: But I think Auburn must have gotten rid of whoever
- 15:13Speaker 3: their coach was at the time. I think it was
- 15:16Speaker 3: before Malason, Okay, and if I remember correctly, and then
- 15:19Speaker 3: he canceled the game that would have been in Auburn.
- 15:23Speaker 2: Okay, all right.
- 15:24Speaker 1: Kelly Stewart Splash sports dot Com on the Out of
- 15:27Speaker 1: Bounds show, she's now an SEC country. I mean South Florida, Yeah,
- 15:34Speaker 1: and I mean hell SEC Media Days was in Tampa,
- 15:37Speaker 1: and of course we've got Florida in Gainesville. So Darren
- 15:42Speaker 1: Sproles played at k State, right he did? And Michael Bishop, yes,
- 15:48Speaker 1: you mentioned Lockhart. Yeah, Sprowl's is one of.
- 15:52Speaker 2: My favorite players.
- 15:53Speaker 4: Ever, how can he not be?
- 15:54Speaker 2: I know, I mean what Saints Eagles? There may be
- 15:58Speaker 2: another team.
