- 1:25Speaker 2: me collect and I accepted the charge. My graduate from
- 1:29Speaker 2: my school being forced back drop b drop, Mike, drop
- 1:35Speaker 2: back drop drop.
- 1:47Speaker 3: All right, eu y l we made our way down
- 1:50Speaker 3: to Mississippi for the first time ever? Is your first time, Misssippy?
- 1:53Speaker 3: Of course say of course.
- 1:55Speaker 4: I mean I have no family in the South.
- 1:57Speaker 3: So you say, of course, like because you know that,
- 2:00Speaker 3: no thought about it like it wasn't It's not really
- 2:03Speaker 3: one of designation.
- 2:05Speaker 2: It's not really destination you're gonna bring you later. Let's
- 2:07Speaker 2: go to.
- 2:08Speaker 4: Exactly right, Like my family is from the Islands, and
- 2:11Speaker 4: so you should.
- 2:12Speaker 5: You had to throw that, like you know, literally, but
- 2:20Speaker 5: that's changing my family.
- 2:27Speaker 2: That's changing though.
- 2:28Speaker 3: Yes, yes, So we we're here with Coach prom one
- 2:32Speaker 3: of the greatest ever in a variety of different aspects,
- 2:37Speaker 3: a real goat in the game, and somebody who I
- 2:40Speaker 3: drew a lot of inspiration from as far as cultural influence,
- 2:42Speaker 3: I was talking the Jalen Roads last week, shout out
- 2:46Speaker 3: to Jaalen, good dude, and I was telling him how
- 2:48Speaker 3: much the Fab five meant to me. Yeah, it meant
- 2:51Speaker 3: a lot. Yes, I mean like outside of basketball, but
- 2:53Speaker 3: just the culture they.
- 2:57Speaker 2: The game.
- 2:59Speaker 3: Similarly you did is well, I remember playing that. I
- 3:01Speaker 3: think what ninety six one of those Madden games, and
- 3:05Speaker 3: I will play with you two way player San Francisco
- 3:09Speaker 3: Atlanta first. Well, yeah, but San Francisco. I think he
- 3:13Speaker 3: had a higher rating. You might have to high.
- 3:14Speaker 2: I don't know how the same game. Yeah, different team name,
- 3:20Speaker 2: same game.
- 3:21Speaker 5: Another thing, I'm glad you brought Upjohn because one he says,
- 3:23Speaker 5: there's very few people that can trans like they can
- 3:27Speaker 5: go bigger than their sport, right, like even when they
- 3:29Speaker 5: stopped playing, how would.
- 3:30Speaker 4: They be remembered? And so like you've managed to do.
- 3:32Speaker 5: That obviously, Like we grew up on prime time, and
- 3:35Speaker 5: we grew up on the championships, and we grew up
- 3:37Speaker 5: on the two way.
- 3:38Speaker 4: Like I'm a Yankee fan, dial.
- 3:40Speaker 5: I remember the Yankees when you were playing there, and
- 3:43Speaker 5: you've transcended the game of football.
- 3:45Speaker 2: I appreciate it to a.
- 3:46Speaker 5: Sense where it's like you you became a pop popcon
- 3:49Speaker 5: the Nike I still remember the Nikes sneakers coming out.
- 3:51Speaker 2: And we had to have those can't get the rap video.
- 3:53Speaker 4: But this is a little nold fact. Hit must be
- 3:58Speaker 4: the mon.
- 4:01Speaker 5: Don't you got part of But this is as a
- 4:04Speaker 5: as a die hard like Sneaker fan like I remember,
- 4:06Speaker 5: I'm a Washington fan too.
- 4:08Speaker 4: I don't want to say that two outs, but.
- 4:10Speaker 5: You're like one of the first guys I ever saw
- 4:11Speaker 5: a customizing Jordans. You had the patent leathers, but you
- 4:14Speaker 5: put him in the room. Yeah, it was you and
- 4:16Speaker 5: Ready Moss. Yeah, early on.
- 4:18Speaker 2: Yep, yep. That's when I was on there, probably in
- 4:21Speaker 2: my contract and that company didn't want to really take
- 4:25Speaker 2: care of me and make my own shoes. So I
- 4:28Speaker 2: called him Jay and he's I got you nowhere better?
- 4:31Speaker 3: And it was. It was the dancing too.
- 4:33Speaker 4: That was I still got that. If you look, this
- 4:37Speaker 4: is real. I could do the move.
- 4:38Speaker 5: Usually I usually keep this a parallel, but since I
- 4:41Speaker 5: knew I was coming, I said, let me go.
- 4:43Speaker 2: Championship man, I appreciate it. I had some wonderful memories
- 4:48Speaker 2: and that then wonderful great one of the greatest secondaries
- 4:52Speaker 2: ever summer.
- 4:53Speaker 4: I think I can name him. Go ahead, thing gonna
- 4:56Speaker 4: put me all right?
- 4:57Speaker 2: You be true?
- 4:58Speaker 5: Eric Davis the uh yeah, Hanks, this is a tough one.
- 5:04Speaker 5: I want to say McDonald, but it's not. It is
- 5:06Speaker 5: McDonald to McDonald to McDonald.
- 5:08Speaker 2: The thing about that secondary all four members, uh, three
- 5:12Speaker 2: of us went to the Pro Bowl that year. Yeah.
- 5:13Speaker 2: Then the year I left, then three of them went
- 5:17Speaker 2: to the Pro Bowl. So you got to say four
- 5:20Speaker 2: four guys went to the Pro Bowl, which was unbelievable
- 5:23Speaker 2: in one second year.
- 5:24Speaker 4: I'm gonna know a dame guy.
- 5:25Speaker 5: So Brian Young, yes, dog Hall of Fame, stubble Field,
- 5:30Speaker 5: and Ricky Orders is not dame.
- 5:31Speaker 2: Ricky was a bad boy, so yeah, John Taylor was
- 5:35Speaker 2: a bad boy. Don't sleep on John Taylor. Delaw. Yeah.
- 5:39Speaker 4: I used to read the back of cars. I see
- 5:42Speaker 4: my whole life.
- 5:43Speaker 3: Yeah, this guy's like a supports. We interviewed a b
- 5:47Speaker 3: That was the funniest thing ever. He was like, who
- 5:49Speaker 3: won the Super Bowl in nineteen ninety two? He said
- 5:52Speaker 3: a name. He was like, how do you know that?
- 5:56Speaker 3: Because his things like nobody remembers super Bowl. He's like,
- 5:58Speaker 3: you remember who won in eighty nine? He's like yeah,
- 6:00Speaker 3: He's like okay, but we can go on with this
- 6:05Speaker 3: conversation forever. But first and foremost, it's honoring the pleasure.
- 6:09Speaker 3: Thank thank you for sure. So I want to get
- 6:12Speaker 3: into it. You know, EYL is about business, and I
- 6:15Speaker 3: feel that this conversation is very important right now. I
- 6:19Speaker 3: want to touch on a variety of different topics, but
- 6:22Speaker 3: I want to start with an I L. Yeah, it's
- 6:26Speaker 3: something that you know, is very controversialized.
- 6:28Speaker 2: It is a lot of.
- 6:29Speaker 3: People have different, you know, takes on it. I know
- 6:32Speaker 3: your friend coach Savan he had said something that was
- 6:35Speaker 3: a little controversial.
- 6:36Speaker 2: With He was really speaking to gospel, but it just
- 6:38Speaker 2: came out wrong.
- 6:39Speaker 3: Okay, So what is your thoughts on in I L?
- 6:44Speaker 3: And how have you or have you been able.
- 6:46Speaker 2: To let me do one at a time because I
- 6:48Speaker 2: can't remember my mom fifty five It just looked good.
- 6:51Speaker 2: It's supposed to be name, image and likeness that these
- 6:55Speaker 2: youngsters are getting compensated from. I have no problem with that.
- 6:58Speaker 2: I like that. I think they should be compensated. But
- 7:03Speaker 2: it needs to be named image and likeness. So when
- 7:06Speaker 2: we say name, image and likeness, that means I need
- 7:09Speaker 2: to see you endorsing something right. So when you hear
- 7:13Speaker 2: about these crazy figures, some of these college athletes are
- 7:18Speaker 2: getting what do you see them on? I got time?
- 7:25Speaker 2: What maybe one guy a quarterback from Alabama and my
- 7:31Speaker 2: son you know who has quite a few endorsements. But really,
- 7:37Speaker 2: you have collectives, that's what coach Saban was saying. You
- 7:40Speaker 2: have collectives who who's gotten together which is another name
- 7:44Speaker 2: for a bunch of handsomely compensated boosters, gotten together and
- 7:49Speaker 2: put money in a pot and say, okay, we got
- 7:52Speaker 2: twenty million here, coach, here, you go do your thing.
- 7:55Speaker 2: So the coach said, well, let me go get this
- 7:57Speaker 2: guy right here. I give him one, I give him
- 8:00Speaker 2: five hundred, I give it. That's what that's not name,
- 8:02Speaker 2: image and likeness. That's just really a collective just breaking
- 8:07Speaker 2: these kids off. That's not what it was meant for.
- 8:09Speaker 2: Now that upsets the little guy. How we gonna compete
- 8:13Speaker 2: with death at HBCUs when I believe seven percent if
- 8:22Speaker 2: that gives back to the schools in which they graduated
- 8:28Speaker 2: from a MADA, Yes, and it might be being kind by
- 8:32Speaker 2: seven percent.
- 8:33Speaker 3: For HBCUs are just in general.
- 8:35Speaker 2: HBCUs, not in general HBCUs. So that upsets the balance
- 8:43Speaker 2: of what we're trying to do. We don't have collectives.
- 8:47Speaker 2: The best we could do as kids earning a real nil.
- 8:51Speaker 2: But when you think about it, just think about what
- 8:55Speaker 2: you guys are doing. How can a college athletes athlete
- 9:01Speaker 2: add to what you do? It's it's kind of hard,
- 9:06Speaker 2: it's kind of far fetched because it really has no value.
- 9:11Speaker 2: So what you're really doing besides just giving them money?
- 9:14Speaker 2: So don't pretend like it's this when it's really that.
- 9:17Speaker 2: That's my problem. But I do feel like these guys
- 9:20Speaker 2: should be compensated.
- 9:22Speaker 4: So as a coach and dealing with that, knowing the parameters,
- 9:26Speaker 4: that's one thing.
- 9:27Speaker 5: Yeah, you're on the other side of it too. Yeah,
- 9:29Speaker 5: a parent who has.
- 9:31Speaker 4: A child who has an IL sponsor, So.
- 9:37Speaker 2: Is that still in dre Brady data rade? And there's
- 9:43Speaker 2: a couple more that he really endorses. So that's real
- 9:48Speaker 2: not a collective.
- 9:49Speaker 4: Right, So like, how intricate were you in that process?
- 9:52Speaker 2: So I wasn't let him figure involved in that process.
- 9:55Speaker 2: Now what I can do because he's my son. As
- 9:57Speaker 2: a coach, I can't be involved, but he's my son,
- 10:00Speaker 2: I can say, son, if you're gonna get that from
- 10:03Speaker 2: this drink. I'd rather you hold on and get that
- 10:07Speaker 2: from this drink, because this drink is gonna be around
- 10:10Speaker 2: for a long time. That one ain't okay. That one
- 10:13Speaker 2: is just flash and it's just a dollar just to
- 10:16Speaker 2: get your attention. But it has no sustainability. This one does.
- 10:21Speaker 2: So let's ride right there. I could lend him that,
- 10:24Speaker 2: and that's what I did.
- 10:25Speaker 5: Did you still was a new rule in today that
- 10:27Speaker 5: And I didn't even notice till recently that international players
- 10:30Speaker 5: can't even get an ils And so why is that?
- 10:34Speaker 5: So there's a kicker at Cincinnati he actually is. He
- 10:38Speaker 5: has endorsements, but he's given it to walk Ons and
- 10:40Speaker 5: so liked they said, like seven percent of the NCAA
- 10:43Speaker 5: football players are international athletes. I know a lot come
- 10:46Speaker 5: from you know, different parts of the world.
- 10:48Speaker 4: What's yourself on the earth?
- 10:50Speaker 2: I mean to me, a athletes, an athlete, whether no
- 10:53Speaker 2: matter where he derived from, athlete is an athlete. He's
- 10:56Speaker 2: still going through the same trials and tribulations as a
- 10:58Speaker 2: young man. He should be able to be compensated just
- 11:01Speaker 2: like the others. If he's going through the process that
- 11:04Speaker 2: the others are going through, and that's being a student athlete.
- 11:06Speaker 2: Trying to secure a degree and trying to secure his
- 11:09Speaker 2: place in life.
- 11:11Speaker 3: I think basketball probably has a lot more international players
- 11:15Speaker 3: than football. True, but in a perfect world, what do
- 11:18Speaker 3: you think a better solution is? You think that athletes
- 11:21Speaker 3: should just get paid? Football and basketball players should you
- 11:23Speaker 3: see paid?
- 11:24Speaker 2: Yeah, but then just say you pay. You say everybody's
- 11:28Speaker 2: gonna make five grand a month. Okay, Now you got
- 11:35Speaker 2: to figure out where's the hustle gonna be. So now
- 11:38Speaker 2: is that coach gonna just recruit certain players that may
- 11:41Speaker 2: be not good at all so that he could say,
- 11:44Speaker 2: you know what, I'm gonna sign you, and I need
- 11:47Speaker 2: a couple off that five grand. You know, it's always
- 11:50Speaker 2: gonna be a hustle somewhere. You gotta find out where
- 11:53Speaker 2: it's gonna be so you can eliminate it. And then
- 11:56Speaker 2: if I'm a coach and everybody's getting five grand, you
- 12:00Speaker 2: ain't contributing nothing. You don't even want to be out there,
- 12:02Speaker 2: You're not going to class, you're not working hard on
- 12:04Speaker 2: the scout team. You're probably on the scout team. You
- 12:06Speaker 2: ain't working hard, and you really don't want to be
- 12:08Speaker 2: out here. So how long am I going to allow that?
- 12:13Speaker 2: So then I got to be able to cut that off.
- 12:16Speaker 2: It's another thing that you don't understand. What the nils
- 12:20Speaker 2: suppose you're a guy that come in from the outside.
- 12:23Speaker 2: We got a machine going right here. I grab a receiver,
- 12:26Speaker 2: or just naming school, any school, Florida state, Florida State.
- 12:30Speaker 2: I grab a received. That's not a good name. That
- 12:32Speaker 2: could come back to bake me somewhere. This slippery rock,
- 12:35Speaker 2: slippery rock. We grab a receiver from slippery Rock. That's
- 12:39Speaker 2: nice with it, and we pay him a meal. So
- 12:42Speaker 2: first of all, he's making more of my coaching staff.
- 12:45Speaker 2: Now that has alienated not only the coaches, but it
- 12:48Speaker 2: alienated some of the players. So now you got this
- 12:50Speaker 2: big time corner I have here that's not making that.
- 12:53Speaker 2: This goes at him every day in practice and takes
- 12:56Speaker 2: his heart. How do you think that's gonna disrupt my team?
- 13:02Speaker 2: So you got to be careful with that. And how
- 13:04Speaker 2: long am I gonna pay that? So if you're bringing,
- 13:08Speaker 2: if you come to him making that, you got to
- 13:10Speaker 2: prove that you are that. If you're not, am I
- 13:12Speaker 2: gonna be able to take that away from you? Then
- 13:15Speaker 2: what happens next? If I am able to take that
- 13:18Speaker 2: away from you? Also, reporters really don't get on these
- 13:23Speaker 2: kids because they're amateurs. They'll jump on a pro hard
- 13:27Speaker 2: because he's getting compensated. So now when the kid is compensated,
- 13:31Speaker 2: So now do the reporters are going there? Because now
- 13:34Speaker 2: you're making more than those reporters who didn't come at
- 13:37Speaker 2: you because you had amateurism. Now you getting compensated, so
- 13:40Speaker 2: you're just like a pro. So the whole pen and
- 13:43Speaker 2: the whole articulation is gonna be somewhat different with the
- 13:47Speaker 2: approach to a young man because he's not an amateur anymore.
- 13:50Speaker 2: He's a handsomely paid athlete, So that whole approach is different.
- 13:54Speaker 2: Now he drops a ball in the fourth quarter and
- 13:56Speaker 2: you done paid him a half a million dollars. So
- 13:58Speaker 2: you don't think those students in one of these country
- 14:01Speaker 2: towns gonna flip his car. Old, it's gonna paint his car.
- 14:04Speaker 2: They're gonna bust all the wonders. It's a whole lot
- 14:06Speaker 2: of stuff when you get into this that could take
- 14:10Speaker 2: a quick left instead of staying right.
- 14:13Speaker 3: Let me ask you this. Another girl friend of Osmo
- 14:14Speaker 3: restall Right shot out to him. He challenged the system
- 14:17Speaker 3: a while back, which became a legendary situation where NFL
- 14:22Speaker 3: he wasn't you're not able to go early into the league.
- 14:25Speaker 3: Jalen Rose actually spoke about that once again referring to Jalen,
- 14:27Speaker 3: he said that basketball and football is the only two
- 14:29Speaker 3: sports where it was moves in place which predominantly are black.
- 14:34Speaker 3: What are your thoughts on NFL not allowing freshmen or
- 14:38Speaker 3: people come.
- 14:39Speaker 2: Out freshman ain't ready for that. This is a basketball
- 14:42Speaker 2: it's a little different now, this old grown man's game.
- 14:46Speaker 2: A grown man would take your heart out there in
- 14:48Speaker 2: that field. A little kid just coming up out of
- 14:50Speaker 2: high school and he just came out of one year
- 14:54Speaker 2: out of college, so he's pretty nineteen years old. He's
- 14:56Speaker 2: getting up there, gonna deal with Aaron Donald, or you're
- 14:59Speaker 2: gonna deal with a dog corner like Jalen rams that
- 15:01Speaker 2: you're gonna deal with somebody that can really take your
- 15:04Speaker 2: heart and take your whole game away from you and
- 15:07Speaker 2: disrupt your whole believability and thought process of I can
- 15:12Speaker 2: really do this. Football is different. At the most, I
- 15:16Speaker 2: would go two years and out. Now it's three years
- 15:20Speaker 2: in out. I agree with that wholehearted, but if I
- 15:23Speaker 2: had to push it, it'll only be two but certain positions.
- 15:27Speaker 3: So you don't think there's ever an exception like.
- 15:29Speaker 2: No, I don't. We could say a guy like Adrian
- 15:32Speaker 2: Peterson was ready, but we don't know that man, because
- 15:35Speaker 2: the ain't no grown man hitting on him like that.
- 15:38Speaker 2: You running up and down the bield of cottage bills
- 15:40Speaker 2: when a grown man go upside your here. But not
- 15:42Speaker 2: only that, just the whole lifestyle, the understanding of the
- 15:46Speaker 2: allocation of time. You gotta adjust mentally and psychologically, man
- 15:51Speaker 2: and emotionally when you start this process, because this is
- 15:55Speaker 2: a man now. You got a grown man's expectations of
- 15:58Speaker 2: you now, and that's tough for some kids. Man.
- 16:01Speaker 5: So you you're here at Jackson State, all right, And
- 16:04Speaker 5: I'm gonna talk about HBCUs for a second because one
- 16:07Speaker 5: of the things you said is that they don't have
- 16:08Speaker 5: boosters coming back. You know, everybody preaches, especially in our community,
- 16:11Speaker 5: like you should go to HBCU and it's a great experience.
- 16:14Speaker 5: And obviously you've come here with the intent, but what
- 16:18Speaker 5: what do you do to gain money, to get endorsements,
- 16:21Speaker 5: to get sponsorships when you know there's a lack of
- 16:23Speaker 5: boosters coming in to give money to the program.
- 16:26Speaker 2: You got a ball out. You got a ball out,
- 16:28Speaker 2: and you got to be so recognizable, so different. You
- 16:31Speaker 2: got to be so passionate and so alluring and attractive
- 16:35Speaker 2: that you your Aura and the Genasa quad just you
- 16:40Speaker 2: have that attractability. But that's hard because it ain't no light.
- 16:46Speaker 2: See the only reason we need showing us right now
- 16:47Speaker 2: because it's light and this cameras. But if it ain't
- 16:50Speaker 2: no light and ain't no cameras, how you're gonna be
- 16:52Speaker 2: seen or heard or noticed. So thank God we're doing
- 16:55Speaker 2: what we're doing, and you're giving me this wonderful platform
- 16:58Speaker 2: because now we're consistently sit and light.
- 17:01Speaker 5: This episode is sponsored by FX's Atlanta. FX's Atlanta returns
- 17:05Speaker 5: for its final season. Earn, Alfred, Darius, and Van are
- 17:09Speaker 5: back in their hometown, but the question is has Atlanta
- 17:12Speaker 5: changed or have today FX's Atlanta. The final season all
- 17:17Speaker 5: new Thursdays on FX stream on Hulu.
- 17:20Speaker 2: But if it ain't no light, you ain't gonna be seen.
- 17:22Speaker 2: It ain't no Mike, you ain't gonna be heard. And
- 17:25Speaker 2: that's one of the problems that we had with HBCU
- 17:29Speaker 2: and we just got to do better. Man.
- 17:32Speaker 5: Yeah, I wondered did you come in here with the
- 17:33Speaker 5: attent let me shine light because I'm sure obviously the
- 17:37Speaker 5: high school record was incredible, right with the true sports
- 17:39Speaker 5: you have for state titles, I want to get a
- 17:41Speaker 5: four state titles, right, and so I'm sure that there
- 17:44Speaker 5: was other offers throughout the country and true that.
- 17:46Speaker 4: But you came here.
- 17:47Speaker 2: I came here because God called me collect and I
- 17:50Speaker 2: accepted the charge. So what HBCUs, You got to perfect
- 17:56Speaker 2: before you package. Everybody want a package and affected, so
- 18:01Speaker 2: then everybody find out your flaws in that light and
- 18:03Speaker 2: then they don't come back. We hollering we want bigger deals.
- 18:06Speaker 2: We want to be on TV. How we want a
- 18:07Speaker 2: bigger deals? Won't be on TV. Ain't nobody in the stands,
- 18:11Speaker 2: How ain't no names on the back of the jerseys.
- 18:16Speaker 2: The whole thing is just chaotic. We got to bring
- 18:21Speaker 2: solvency and we got to bring unity. What we try
- 18:26Speaker 2: to do those things that we desired to do, and
- 18:28Speaker 2: that shed light on everything because some folks ain't ready
- 18:31Speaker 2: for the light. Man. You know, when I was like
- 18:34Speaker 2: seven eight years old, man, we had roaches like crazy.
- 18:36Speaker 2: You come home late to night and turn on that light. Yeah,
- 18:41Speaker 2: they scattered. We don't need to scatter as an HBCU.
- 18:44Speaker 2: We got to be ready. So we're not ready right now.
- 18:48Speaker 2: We're getting there, but right now we're in that stage
- 18:52Speaker 2: where you poke the holes in the pot pie and
- 18:55Speaker 2: let the thing cool off a little bit. That's what
- 18:56Speaker 2: we're doing right now. We got to poke the holes
- 18:59Speaker 2: and let it cool a little bit.
- 19:00Speaker 3: So let me ask you this, as far as social media,
- 19:03Speaker 3: I think that you've done a better job than anybody
- 19:05Speaker 3: I've ever seen on a college level of embracing culture
- 19:08Speaker 3: and really, like you said, the spotlight the cameras, social
- 19:11Speaker 3: media is like the great equalizing This is so when
- 19:12Speaker 3: you bring people like Gillian Wallow, Shoes adult Michael vic Warrence,
- 19:18Speaker 3: this has actually become like a vi like a cultural epicenter,
- 19:23Speaker 3: like you have to come to like Jackson State to like,
- 19:25Speaker 3: you know, just see it, just to see it, meet
- 19:27Speaker 3: the players. Like it's become something like So talk about
- 19:30Speaker 3: like was that your idea? Was that your son's idea?
- 19:32Speaker 2: It is definitely my idea. What my son does is
- 19:35Speaker 2: we work in the unity with my gifts and his gifts.
- 19:39Speaker 2: He ain't no joke with the phone in this camera
- 19:43Speaker 2: and just his excitement for his brothers, and I'm like
- 19:47Speaker 2: the directors, you know, I said, this is this, dropped
- 19:51Speaker 2: this at twelve, drop this two, drop this at three o'clock.
- 19:54Speaker 2: Boom boom boom. Let's have a schedule. They want the
- 19:56Speaker 2: pregame speech, let's go. I'm like the Wizard of Ball
- 20:00Speaker 2: behind the curtains, you know. But but he's he does
- 20:03Speaker 2: his thing, and he's so talented and unique at what
- 20:07Speaker 2: he does, and he loves it. He loves it. And
- 20:10Speaker 2: you could hear him laughing and yelling, you know sometimes
- 20:13Speaker 2: when the players are being made. And I said, you
- 20:15Speaker 2: have an uncanny way of knowing where the ball is
- 20:19Speaker 2: gonna go all the time. I don't know how you
- 20:21Speaker 2: do what I mean, he's like right there and they're
- 20:23Speaker 2: running right to him. And he does all this on
- 20:25Speaker 2: a cell phone. Yeah, I mean know how dollar camera,
- 20:30Speaker 2: All this stuff is on a cell phone.
- 20:32Speaker 3: That's the best content. Was like as a content creator,
- 20:34Speaker 3: and it is a great equalizing because now you can
- 20:37Speaker 3: go viral on a cell phone. You create so much content.
- 20:40Speaker 3: And like I said, I feel like you understand culture
- 20:43Speaker 3: enough to know even you doing this conversation with us
- 20:45Speaker 3: like it lets me know that you're understanding what's actually
- 20:48Speaker 3: a breaking though.
- 20:49Speaker 2: Man. You guys are yeah, you guys are like you
- 20:51Speaker 2: be right there? Yeah you about the yeah yeah he
- 20:55Speaker 2: like that popcorn is. I want to bless you. I
- 21:00Speaker 2: wanted to be with you. I wanted to enhance you.
- 21:02Speaker 2: I wanted to help you because of success. Ain't success
- 21:04Speaker 2: without a successful So we got to help one another
- 21:08Speaker 2: and brothers got to do this. I can't be staying
- 21:11Speaker 2: offish when I see some hungry dogs out there trying
- 21:13Speaker 2: to eat, for sure, to help you eat.
- 21:15Speaker 3: Man, appreciate that. Thank you, thank you. I just I
- 21:18Speaker 3: just really wanted to say, that's kudos to your son.
- 21:20Speaker 3: Because I haven't seen any other college or even other
- 21:23Speaker 3: sports professional sports team utilize social media.
- 21:26Speaker 2: We have no budget for it. We have no budget.
- 21:29Speaker 2: If you understood what I know, you're gonna do your
- 21:31Speaker 2: homework and put it on the screen for me. Please
- 21:33Speaker 2: understand what a Power five recruiting budget and just overall
- 21:38Speaker 2: budget for football and what our budget is. You're going
- 21:41Speaker 2: to laugh your butt off. So when we do these
- 21:44Speaker 2: type of things, it's all recruiting for us. This is
- 21:47Speaker 2: how we recruit. So when we show you the pregame speeches,
- 21:50Speaker 2: the post games on the field practice and playing the
- 21:53Speaker 2: music and this and this is bringing whole click in.
- 21:57Speaker 2: You know the paper route bought when we doing all that. Man,
- 22:01Speaker 2: that's that's recruiting for us. And it's it's it's free,
- 22:06Speaker 2: it's free, and that's the way we compete.
- 22:09Speaker 4: And it's the youngsters.
- 22:10Speaker 2: Right there they write down their phone.
- 22:12Speaker 5: Yeah, when you look at the social engagement, some of
- 22:15Speaker 5: them polified schools, Jackson State, they can't touch us. It's
- 22:20Speaker 5: not even close, right, even you know, with their budgets.
- 22:22Speaker 2: Even Alabama has I think one point three million follows
- 22:27Speaker 2: or whatever. We're not close to that. But with me.
- 22:30Speaker 4: And Jack Steak, yeah, we got them.
- 22:32Speaker 2: So it ain't the school in the nation that can
- 22:34Speaker 2: touch us because of the coach's influence.
- 22:37Speaker 5: So that I'm glad you said that. This is exactly
- 22:39Speaker 5: where I wanted to go because I'm thinking to myself this.
- 22:42Speaker 5: Most coaches promote.
- 22:43Speaker 4: Themselves, not their programs or something.
- 22:45Speaker 5: Right, You ever see them do an ad with a brand,
- 22:48Speaker 5: it's usually for the brand, and it's like I'm the person,
- 22:51Speaker 5: I'm the personality. But every time you endorse, it's you
- 22:54Speaker 5: and it's Jackson State. And so there was another HBCU grad,
- 22:59Speaker 5: Michaels straighthand last snack entertainment. Yeah right, And so I'm wondering,
- 23:03Speaker 5: like again, just having the mindset to.
- 23:05Speaker 4: Say, all right, y'all gonna promote me.
- 23:07Speaker 5: I'm gonna promote everything that I have going on just
- 23:10Speaker 5: being one of the most important things was that the strategy.
- 23:14Speaker 2: And it don't stop. It's almost like anybody I get
- 23:17Speaker 2: into bed and partner with got to get into bed
- 23:19Speaker 2: with my people too. So everybody I have a deal
- 23:23Speaker 2: with has blessed Jackson's State in some capacity because that
- 23:28Speaker 2: comes along with the territory. If you're gonna get down
- 23:30Speaker 2: with me, you're gonna get down with what I'm down with.
- 23:33Speaker 2: And the kids love it. I mean the kids one
- 23:36Speaker 2: hundred percent love it. And we're able to bring CEOs
- 23:41Speaker 2: and zoom a guy like straight hand in on our
- 23:44Speaker 2: morning meetings and let him talk and communicate with these
- 23:47Speaker 2: youngsters that have only seen him on television although they
- 23:51Speaker 2: seeing him on the screen, that he's there, he's gonna
- 23:53Speaker 2: be to the homecoming game. They've met snooped. I mean,
- 23:56Speaker 2: everybody you would think of had the young j Z.
- 23:59Speaker 2: Every you could think of have rolled through man, and
- 24:03Speaker 2: I love it because Oftentimes at HBCUs they only hear
- 24:08Speaker 2: about success stories. They never get to see them live
- 24:12Speaker 2: and in person.
- 24:13Speaker 3: So speaking of HBCUs, you said something earlier. You said
- 24:15Speaker 3: that HBCUs aren't ready yet. And we see, of course
- 24:20Speaker 3: what you're doing Jackson State Howard. I think they just
- 24:22Speaker 3: got a Jordan. So how do they get because enough,
- 24:25Speaker 3: like you said, the budget is always going to be
- 24:27Speaker 3: in the favor of the power schools, whereas Texas they
- 24:29Speaker 3: have their own network.
- 24:30Speaker 2: But did you gotta say why somebody? As soon as
- 24:34Speaker 2: later you got to say why?
- 24:35Speaker 3: So how do we change it? How do we get
- 24:36Speaker 3: the HBCUs ready?
- 24:38Speaker 2: First of all, we got to get that business straight.
- 24:41Speaker 2: We got to get the business straight. When I say
- 24:43Speaker 2: the business straight, I could start from ticket sales all
- 24:48Speaker 2: the way to concessions, to apparel, to understanding TV rights,
- 24:54Speaker 2: and I could keep going down the list that you
- 24:58Speaker 2: got to get this stuff together before. Oh you think
- 25:00Speaker 2: God is gonna bless you, God don't bless nohe that's raggedy,
- 25:03Speaker 2: because that's gonna be self destruction. The only way God
- 25:05Speaker 2: is gonna bless you is you ready for the blessing.
- 25:07Speaker 2: He's not gonna put something on you that you can't carry,
- 25:10Speaker 2: you can't handle, and we're just now getting to the
- 25:14Speaker 2: point that we could handle the blessings that he has
- 25:19Speaker 2: for us. When I first got him, Know, we couldn't
- 25:21Speaker 2: and I'm not just saying it just because of me,
- 25:23Speaker 2: but no, we couldn't because we were raggedy and it
- 25:27Speaker 2: was no structure, no order. I mean, you go out
- 25:30Speaker 2: there and kids thought they were going to field with
- 25:32Speaker 2: this on this, on that. No, no, no, no, we
- 25:35Speaker 2: were black socks, we were this, we were that. We're
- 25:38Speaker 2: a uniform team. You know why because in the NFL,
- 25:42Speaker 2: if you don't have on this type of uniform in
- 25:44Speaker 2: the game, you get fined first finus thirty five hundred
- 25:47Speaker 2: and seventy five hundred and fifteen thousand. Then it goes
- 25:49Speaker 2: all the way up. The kids don't know about that.
- 25:51Speaker 4: I said, you know what, you want to wear your
- 25:53Speaker 4: shirt out?
- 25:53Speaker 2: If you do it in the NFL, guess what this is?
- 25:56Speaker 2: What that is? Now? All those kids you see on
- 25:58Speaker 2: television with the shirts out, See they got Grandma or
- 26:01Speaker 2: Auntie saying, you know, can I hold summer? They saying no.
- 26:03Speaker 2: But they just gave away fifteen thousand dollars just to
- 26:07Speaker 2: kick it and that's anyoddic to me. They don't understand
- 26:11Speaker 2: it until it's over. When that's when they see homes
- 26:15Speaker 2: start to come closer. Then you start thinking about, man,
- 26:18Speaker 2: I had two hundred and its fifty thousand dollars worth
- 26:20Speaker 2: of fines in my career over foolish and just trying
- 26:23Speaker 2: to stump.
- 26:24Speaker 5: I'm thinking to myself, that was one of the things
- 26:25Speaker 5: I loved about you, was like you kind of did
- 26:27Speaker 5: have it touched there. You had to change on sometimes.
- 26:29Speaker 5: Like whatever he was, he never.
- 26:31Speaker 2: Broke ruse and the guy who established them, I made
- 26:35Speaker 2: sure I got straight with him. I said, I'm gonna
- 26:37Speaker 2: push the envelope a little bit now, Okay, Okay. So
- 26:40Speaker 2: if I had my gloves and I had them open, cool,
- 26:44Speaker 2: no root breaking. But when I had the ones with
- 26:46Speaker 2: the prime and the time out like that, they say, okay,
- 26:49Speaker 2: you can wear them. So now I made the gloves
- 26:50Speaker 2: with no class. Okay. The shocks were a certain way,
- 26:55Speaker 2: you know, but it was always uniform. I've never did
- 27:00Speaker 2: nothing out of a character and out of order for
- 27:04Speaker 2: the NFL. I just look good in Mauna.
- 27:10Speaker 3: So let me ask you this, as far as collaboration,
- 27:15Speaker 3: how important because obviously Jackson State is is getting all
- 27:19Speaker 3: the attention right now that.
- 27:20Speaker 2: We getting all attentions because we're winning.
- 27:21Speaker 3: No, no, no, I'm not I'm saying you should get all
- 27:23Speaker 3: attentions right I'm just saying, how important is it to
- 27:25Speaker 3: collaborate with other teams in the swag other HBCUs to
- 27:29Speaker 3: kind of mean the coaches, Yeah, share information, share resources.
- 27:34Speaker 2: I've got many of the several of the coaches on
- 27:37Speaker 2: the zoom call and say, let's talk about our biggest
- 27:42Speaker 2: nemesis or detractors or cancers, and we just talked about it,
- 27:50Speaker 2: and ironically everybody's dealing with the same foolishes, but people
- 27:53Speaker 2: just don't talk about it. But this is the problem.
- 27:58Speaker 2: I could say stuff. Coach George could stay stuff, Coach
- 28:04Speaker 2: Hugh Jackson could say stuff, you know you got the
- 28:06Speaker 2: NFL pipe gods, excuse me. But some guys that don't
- 28:11Speaker 2: have that, they may can't elaborate and talk about the
- 28:15Speaker 2: dysfunction that to dealing with because they're subject to be fired.
- 28:19Speaker 2: And when we do it, you may not like it.
- 28:23Speaker 2: But I'm not lying. So if I'm saying how we
- 28:27Speaker 2: gonna be on TV, you ain't sell out a durned
- 28:30Speaker 2: home game. So who won't want to film an empty stadium.
- 28:34Speaker 2: They may not like it, but I ain't lying. How
- 28:38Speaker 2: can we have sixty thousand people in the Durance Stadium?
- 28:41Speaker 2: You talking about we sold out, and I checked the
- 28:43Speaker 2: receipts and we don't sold twenty eight thousand tickets. Now
- 28:45Speaker 2: y'all better find out who's still it because that affects
- 28:47Speaker 2: my pocket. You may not like it, but I ain't lying.
- 28:52Speaker 2: So it's a lot of stuff like that. And it's
- 28:56Speaker 2: more that goes on on that we got to address.
- 29:01Speaker 2: And I just have the audacity to address it because
- 29:05Speaker 2: it's for the kids. It's for the kids.
- 29:08Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 29:08Speaker 5: When I hear you speak, I mean, obviously you representing
- 29:11Speaker 5: Jackson State, but you're speaking for the entire conference, is it.
- 29:14Speaker 5: I think you were critical of Grambling and you were saying, like, look,
- 29:18Speaker 5: I think the word was pathetic, like their attendance.
- 29:21Speaker 4: You right down the street, right, so.
- 29:23Speaker 2: Right down the street, and this is your biggest game
- 29:25Speaker 2: of the season. Okay. I know you get down with
- 29:27Speaker 2: Southern in the classic you know, I know y'all can't
- 29:30Speaker 2: wait the party for these classics, and I get sick
- 29:33Speaker 2: of that these classes that ain't nobody making no money,
- 29:35Speaker 2: but you want to go there.
- 29:35Speaker 4: I want to go there, Okay, but you right down
- 29:38Speaker 4: the street.
- 29:39Speaker 2: This is your biggest game, like we're the dogs, like
- 29:41Speaker 2: we're the ones you want to get and you don't
- 29:44Speaker 2: come to support that. And your coaches already sounded off,
- 29:47Speaker 2: and I was really having his back. He's already sounded
- 29:50Speaker 2: off at your attendance and your participation, and you didn't
- 29:54Speaker 2: come for this. And then when we get up on
- 29:56Speaker 2: you three, I know you said the heat and all
- 29:58Speaker 2: that it was hot, folks is fall. Now the heat
- 30:01Speaker 2: was on our side to it.
- 30:03Speaker 4: That was fun.
- 30:04Speaker 2: It wasn't just on one side of the stadium that
- 30:06Speaker 2: the heat was just on their side. No, when we
- 30:09Speaker 2: got up a few touchdowns, the heat got hot because
- 30:13Speaker 2: when it was tight, everybody was there and cheering, and
- 30:16Speaker 2: you're like the church said, yeah, but when we hit
- 30:19Speaker 2: that gill, yeah you got hot. Yeah. Since the six
- 30:22Speaker 2: points later got hot up in there in there. Yeah,
- 30:27Speaker 2: but all those people who really dealt with the heat exhaustion.
- 30:30Speaker 2: I prayed for him, I really do, because it happened
- 30:32Speaker 2: on both sides.
- 30:33Speaker 5: Now, I was gonna say so that that approach long
- 30:36Speaker 5: term obviously will obviously lift the conference unless HPC us
- 30:39Speaker 5: in general.
- 30:40Speaker 4: All right, that's the approach.
- 30:41Speaker 5: So the other thing about that is that you are
- 30:44Speaker 5: the leader of the swack right now, and so when
- 30:47Speaker 5: you we are the leader, you are we we are
- 30:50Speaker 5: the leaders. So well, you went to a bowl game
- 30:54Speaker 5: last year?
- 30:55Speaker 2: Cool?
- 30:55Speaker 5: And so when the when the bulls get paid out,
- 30:58Speaker 5: the paid out for the school or is there a
- 31:01Speaker 5: part of that that goes to the conference as well?
- 31:02Speaker 2: How does that work? You're good, it's paid to the schools.
- 31:12Speaker 2: Both schools get a a sum of money. My question
- 31:18Speaker 2: was if we went out there and we want to
- 31:21Speaker 2: did that while we splitting some that we did that
- 31:26Speaker 2: the pro the football program did that. The school didn't
- 31:29Speaker 2: do that. The football program did that. So those are
- 31:34Speaker 2: my questions as well as concerns. Okay, yeah, I want
- 31:38Speaker 2: to see that. How is that regulated and dispensed? Right?
- 31:44Speaker 5: Dispersed rather, that's the key word, because again, and I
- 31:48Speaker 5: heard you speak about it, like the guys in that
- 31:50Speaker 5: locker room, of the ones putting their lives on the line,
- 31:52Speaker 5: they're risking the health and safety. Obviously, if something is
- 31:57Speaker 5: coming back to the school, majority of it should.
- 32:00Speaker 2: Be for the people who at least you many percentage
- 32:03Speaker 2: okay and unfair show many percentage. And I know we
- 32:07Speaker 2: have some some some things that we need to address
- 32:12Speaker 2: amongst the school, but we did this. Man. Let's take
- 32:15Speaker 2: care of us and the things that we have shortcomings
- 32:18Speaker 2: that we have right now, and then we'll deal with
- 32:21Speaker 2: the school needs.
- 32:24Speaker 3: So you made history last year. You got the number
- 32:26Speaker 3: one play in the country, Travis Hunter. And you know
- 32:30Speaker 3: that's obviously something I don't think i's ever been done
- 32:32Speaker 3: before the HBCU to get the numb so it's always
- 32:36Speaker 3: been talked about, but you actually was able to do it.
- 32:39Speaker 3: How was that conversation with his family? How were you
- 32:42Speaker 3: able to convince him to come into Jackson State? Was
- 32:45Speaker 3: a was a better choice than going to any other
- 32:47Speaker 3: school that he could have went to.
- 32:48Speaker 2: We didn't have to really convince Travis to come to
- 32:52Speaker 2: Jackson State. We just really had to show Travis through
- 32:55Speaker 2: the way and show him to like the mistake that
- 32:59Speaker 2: the other schools made eight was to allow Travis to
- 33:01Speaker 2: come to a homecom You don't want to let a
- 33:06Speaker 2: top recruit come to a HPC homecoming. Earns.
- 33:09Speaker 4: What's going on as you gear a fall?

- 34:18Speaker 2: No, that's just like coming to a carnival, a wonderful gathering, yeah,
- 34:27Speaker 2: A wonderful gathering of a family reading. Yeah. So, and
- 34:34Speaker 2: we have some of the same things in common travels
- 34:36Speaker 2: like the fish. I love the fish. The kid studied
- 34:39Speaker 2: my life and thank god because he knows me like
- 34:43Speaker 2: a book and I felt like I knew him. So
- 34:46Speaker 2: when we got down and really started to talk about
- 34:49Speaker 2: things in this game and what he wanted to accomplish
- 34:53Speaker 2: in this game, it's like, I'm your navigational system. Everything
- 34:57Speaker 2: you talked about, I'm done, let's go. It wasn't no begging,
- 35:03Speaker 2: no pleading, no strong arm, and no payday. Travis's mother
- 35:09Speaker 2: is wonderful spiritual woman as well, and she got it.
- 35:12Speaker 2: I mean she got it. She's like my baby coming here.
- 35:16Speaker 2: That's what it is. And you know, that's really how
- 35:19Speaker 2: I went down. It wasn't it wasn't no tooth pull,
- 35:24Speaker 2: it wasn't nothing like that. He wanted to be here,
- 35:27Speaker 2: and we made it possible for him to be here.
- 35:29Speaker 3: Well, I'm sure a lot of players, I mean, what
- 35:32Speaker 3: better to learn from the best, like So that's an
- 35:35Speaker 3: advantage that I don't think anybody else really has. So
- 35:38Speaker 3: I'm sure that's very good for recruiting. Yeah, if they're
- 35:42Speaker 3: looking to take that correct to the next level, they
- 35:43Speaker 3: can learn from the best that's ever did it.
- 35:46Speaker 2: Not only on the field, but off the fielding in life.
- 35:49Speaker 2: So Travis watches everything, man like you can't do nothing
- 35:53Speaker 2: with that. And White we were sitting in the training
- 35:54Speaker 2: room together today, just sitting on the table, and that's
- 35:57Speaker 2: going over my foot and it was doing his anger.
- 35:59Speaker 2: I say, know what, dog, you get me your left
- 36:03Speaker 2: leg and I give you my right and we a
- 36:07Speaker 2: whole dog. So the nickname is baby prom whore. Travis. Yeah,
- 36:14Speaker 2: I never heard that. I'm wondering.
- 36:17Speaker 5: I'm wondering because I've read that you said this, Maybe
- 36:19Speaker 5: didn't that he's at this point of his life better
- 36:23Speaker 5: than you.
- 36:23Speaker 2: Yeah, which is I've never heard. Now, don't talk like no,
- 36:26Speaker 2: I'm not, but I'm not lying. I wasn't nearly the athlete.
- 36:30Speaker 2: I take that back. I was the athlete, but not
- 36:34Speaker 2: straight football. You know. I had other things that I
- 36:36Speaker 2: could do really well. But at the football player he
- 36:42Speaker 2: is way farther than I was. Like, Travis came in
- 36:47Speaker 2: ready to take the opposing team's best receiver right now,
- 36:51Speaker 2: right now, He's already ready for that. He's he's a
- 36:58Speaker 2: dog man. He going there on the practic, just still
- 37:00Speaker 2: to take our best receiver. Let's do this, and he
- 37:03Speaker 2: ain't playing, and you, if you mess around to catch one,
- 37:06Speaker 2: let's do it again. So that's how Travis gets down
- 37:10Speaker 2: and he mentally and he wants to learn. He'll grab me, coach,
- 37:14Speaker 2: come over here, just watch me and seven. So I said, no,
- 37:16Speaker 2: I can't just stand on the side and watch you
- 37:17Speaker 2: the whole time. I got to watch the whole team,
- 37:19Speaker 2: which is watching for a few players. I mean, that's
- 37:20Speaker 2: the way he wants to be great, and I love
- 37:24Speaker 2: that about it. And he ain't no joke out there
- 37:26Speaker 2: on the grass man.
- 37:28Speaker 4: So he obviously has projections to be a pro.
- 37:31Speaker 2: But the thing about it, you're right, but on both sides,
- 37:36Speaker 2: he's Travis is just as good a receiver as he
- 37:41Speaker 2: is a DV. That's what I'm saying. He is unbelievable.
- 37:46Speaker 2: He gets that ball. Man, that ball is a magnet
- 37:49Speaker 2: for him. Man, he the kid is a freak.
- 37:52Speaker 3: But that's one of the amazing things about you is
- 37:54Speaker 3: that you really could do everything like you know, as
- 37:56Speaker 3: far as special teams, why either corner back, we ain't
- 38:01Speaker 3: talking about baseball. That's a hold up a conversation. But
- 38:04Speaker 3: that's that's not a track and fields as well. Yeah,
- 38:08Speaker 3: so that's not easy to do it today. You don't
- 38:10Speaker 3: see too many people doing that today's game.
- 38:12Speaker 2: But they do talk the kids out of it, because
- 38:14Speaker 2: now you got this coach was getting handsomely paid by
- 38:17Speaker 2: this high school or the seven on seven team or
- 38:20Speaker 2: this AAU team. That's telling that kid, hey, you need
- 38:22Speaker 2: to just focused on this boyd and you go all
- 38:24Speaker 2: the way. No, man, why because you just focused on that,
- 38:29Speaker 2: you ain't go all the way?
- 38:31Speaker 4: Let the kids what we did.
- 38:35Speaker 2: We played everything back in the day. Right now everything
- 38:38Speaker 2: is singular hyper focus. Yes, it's singular. You that's not
- 38:43Speaker 2: fair to the kid. You gotta let a kid be
- 38:44Speaker 2: a kid. I remember as soon as we lost in
- 38:48Speaker 2: the playoffs in basketball, the next day, I'm leading off,
- 38:53Speaker 2: you know, soon as football was over, let's jump wet.
- 38:57Speaker 2: The next day. I mean we lost on the fry
- 39:00Speaker 2: and I was hoping we played this saty. So that's
- 39:03Speaker 2: just how it was, man. So nowadays is.
- 39:07Speaker 4: Football, football, football, football, basketball, bat.
- 39:09Speaker 2: Is all year around, sports all year round. Now they're
- 39:13Speaker 2: not just seasonal.
- 39:14Speaker 3: Let me ask you this. As far as the conference is,

- 42:07Speaker 3: That makes absolutely no sense when conferences like schools on
- 42:11Speaker 3: the West Coast in the Big East and Big Ten
- 42:13Speaker 3: has thirteen.
- 42:14Speaker 2: Schools, they getting paid.
- 42:15Speaker 3: Yeah, but I say that to say it's all. It's
- 42:17Speaker 3: all everything is derived around football and the conferences is
- 42:22Speaker 3: just going crazy.
- 42:23Speaker 2: No, they ain't they going money. They all business going.
- 42:26Speaker 3: So I say that to say, is there ever any
- 42:29Speaker 3: way possible that you foresee Jackson State being in a
- 42:33Speaker 3: power conference at some point?
- 42:34Speaker 2: Tom, I would like to see that when we're ready.
- 42:39Speaker 2: We gotta be ready now when you when you start
- 42:42Speaker 2: jumping conferences, and I don't want to just jump to
- 42:45Speaker 2: the baby conference. If I'm gonna jump, let's bunge a
- 42:47Speaker 2: jump let's do the dog on thing. Okay, so I
- 42:51Speaker 2: gotta get the traviss I gotta get Travis's there too. Okay,
- 42:55Speaker 2: up front on both sides, offensive defensive line with some depth,
- 42:59Speaker 2: because that's how the big boys should get you. Now.
- 43:02Speaker 2: They can't mess with you in a skill position because
- 43:04Speaker 2: we had a quarterback that could spend it. We got
- 43:05Speaker 2: receivers that could go, dbs that could go, linebackers that
- 43:08Speaker 2: could bang and cover. Where they get you is right
- 43:11Speaker 2: here in the trenches. Because now when they rotate, they rotate,
- 43:16Speaker 2: and you they got eight heat seeking missiles coming and
- 43:20Speaker 2: you may have four, so soon or later you're gonna
- 43:23Speaker 2: wear down. So you got to beef that up if
- 43:27Speaker 2: you want to compete with the big boys.
- 43:29Speaker 3: But you you would like that.
- 43:32Speaker 2: I want that.
- 43:32Speaker 4: I meant what conference.
- 43:35Speaker 2: I know, it don't matter. Somebody a conference that is
- 43:38Speaker 2: gonna make sure that we don't have a struggle no more,
- 43:44Speaker 2: because everything is a struggle. Everything is not enough, everything
- 43:47Speaker 2: is less than. Everything is like thereof it's gonna be
- 43:51Speaker 2: a conference that can put the whole school on that
- 43:54Speaker 2: we straight.
- 43:57Speaker 5: I SEC would be big, it could be big twelve two.
- 44:00Speaker 5: I mean facing that you see it's like this the biggest.
- 44:03Speaker 5: This is the biggest.
- 44:04Speaker 2: When you start talking like that, you got to answer
- 44:06Speaker 2: to the house. So that was so you you got stadiums,
- 44:09Speaker 2: you gotta have facilities.
- 44:11Speaker 4: Yeah, ain't nobody, Come on, man, I want to get
- 44:13Speaker 4: to if I want to talk.
- 44:15Speaker 5: Coming here like this, you said playing the big boys,
- 44:17Speaker 5: And I know one of the things you touched on
- 44:18Speaker 5: recently was the money games, true and the disperries and
- 44:21Speaker 5: that can can you elaborate and explain to people because
- 44:24Speaker 5: when we see a uh, let's pick a pick up
- 44:27Speaker 5: a random school.
- 44:28Speaker 2: Uh, let's say you guys play Alabama. No, you just
- 44:32Speaker 2: saw Alabama State right out there against u c l A. Right, Okay,
- 44:38Speaker 2: big dog, I don't mind that, but tell the kids
- 44:43Speaker 2: what it is. I'm playing for money. I'm playing so
- 44:46Speaker 2: that we could pay for this, pay for it. Don't
- 44:48Speaker 2: like you got a chance because you know you don't.
- 44:52Speaker 2: And then if you playing for money, do real business.
- 44:56Speaker 2: So you getting five hundred thousand, five hundred ninety thousand
- 44:59Speaker 2: whatever was reported what you called and check and see
- 45:04Speaker 2: how much as charter flight is two charters because you
- 45:07Speaker 2: got one for the team and one for the band. Okay,
- 45:10Speaker 2: going that California. Now you've got hotels and all that,
- 45:13Speaker 2: all those accommodations, and probably two nights of food and
- 45:18Speaker 2: all that. That's probably six meals. That's gonna be an
- 45:22Speaker 2: upward of seven hundred, eight hundred to a million, But
- 45:26Speaker 2: you're getting five ninety. So you took a l and
- 45:29Speaker 2: took a l going and getting beat done. Literally.
- 45:33Speaker 4: Yeah, So to me.
- 45:39Speaker 2: If I put my kids in a situation where there's
- 45:41Speaker 2: no win and this is detrimental to their health, I'm
- 45:44Speaker 2: selling them out. We were big on that terminology in
- 45:49Speaker 2: African Americans. I'm putting you in a situation where I
- 45:54Speaker 2: know you're not gonna win, and I'm not even getting
- 45:59Speaker 2: handsomely compensated for it. That's a problem. But you have
- 46:02Speaker 2: the same situation when another school goes to Nebraska and
- 46:07Speaker 2: play and they get one point four one point seven.
- 46:10Speaker 2: Another school goes to Penn State and go to one
- 46:13Speaker 2: of these other schools and they get one point five
- 46:15Speaker 2: or they get one point three. They're doing better business
- 46:18Speaker 2: to me in the value not in the school that
- 46:21Speaker 2: could beat me. It's in the school that I'm gonna
- 46:24Speaker 2: beat because I really just played a setup game just
- 46:26Speaker 2: to beat you. Right, If I'm paying you. They mean
- 46:28Speaker 2: I need to whoop you. Right, when a boxer pays
- 46:31Speaker 2: another boxer, they paying him to what whoop it. It
- 46:36Speaker 2: may whether they be gonna pay you if his purse
- 46:38Speaker 2: is a twenty million and he paying you fifteen millions.
- 46:42Speaker 2: But no, no, he's gonna pay you significantly less because
- 46:44Speaker 2: he knows he gonna whoop you. It don't make sense
- 46:47Speaker 2: to me. Man, the numbers just don't add up to me.
- 46:50Speaker 2: That's a problem for me.
- 46:51Speaker 4: So who negotiates that from the city has to be
- 46:54Speaker 4: It has to be the ad.
- 46:55Speaker 2: Ad does it?
- 46:56Speaker 3: Yes, okay, because I remember when I used to play basketball,
- 46:59Speaker 3: and I remember we used to see like Copping State.
- 47:02Speaker 3: They used to always the first fifteen games was on
- 47:05Speaker 3: the road. They play Ohio State, Michigan.
- 47:08Speaker 2: Beat down pockets fat though he start to seize it off,
- 47:12Speaker 2: like and ten over twelve.
- 47:13Speaker 5: So say the SEC has that one week every year,
- 47:15Speaker 5: they're like, this is Cupcake City.
- 47:17Speaker 4: Why are you playing UCL moro?
- 47:19Speaker 2: Because it's to pay a game for them, right, yeah,
- 47:22Speaker 2: but you got to make sure you get compensated enough.
- 47:24Speaker 2: It's not worth my kids getting hurt. Then I gotta
- 47:27Speaker 2: go and talk them. You know what, we could do
- 47:29Speaker 2: it next week. I know what happened last and I'm
- 47:31Speaker 2: sorry about that. We had to go get the bag.
- 47:33Speaker 2: That's what the conversation should be. We had to go
- 47:34Speaker 2: get the bag. Guess what we could do it this week.
- 47:37Speaker 2: We could beat them. But I can't do it. I
- 47:39Speaker 2: can't say. I'm a kids.
- 47:39Speaker 4: Let's what I'm saying.
- 47:40Speaker 5: Even when you get the bag, it's still coming back
- 47:42Speaker 5: to the school, not necessarily their their program.
- 47:46Speaker 2: And you ain't even bringing enough back because you got
- 47:49Speaker 2: to make it back home, right and you didn't even
- 47:52Speaker 2: get enough to even make it back home with a bag.
- 47:54Speaker 3: And at some point a conversation has to have. It
- 47:56Speaker 3: has to be had about funding for these schools, especially
- 48:00Speaker 3: the state schools, because it's like why a lot of
- 48:03Speaker 3: Ohio states and state school like Florida states and state
- 48:06Speaker 3: school but why the black state schools never get any money.
- 48:10Speaker 2: Enrollment. You gotta talk about enrollment. And we got to
- 48:18Speaker 2: quit stop accepting whatever they give us. They can't just
- 48:23Speaker 2: throw no money at you. You say, oh, thank you,
- 48:25Speaker 2: No man, stop accepting the foolishness that they give you.
- 48:30Speaker 2: If you accept peanuts, they gonna thank your money sooner later.
- 48:34Speaker 2: You got to stop dancing clapping for for a little
- 48:37Speaker 2: dams they're throwing in your plate. You got to demand
- 48:40Speaker 2: we deserve more. And this is why, and it's documented.
- 48:45Speaker 5: So one of the things you talked about, obviously is
- 48:46Speaker 5: the facilities. If we're gonna grow and win, win in comes.
- 48:50Speaker 5: Success becomes more money. I know, even like here, when
- 48:54Speaker 5: you came here, this women were sitting there did not exist.
- 48:57Speaker 2: No, I didn't, right, So these are practice field did
- 48:59Speaker 2: not exist, God not exist. None of this existed. And
- 49:03Speaker 2: we're thankful that we have an a d that that
- 49:07Speaker 2: knows how to fight. And we partner and we communicate
- 49:11Speaker 2: and we articulate to one another the needs and the
- 49:13Speaker 2: thoughts and the process of getting them. And then I
- 49:16Speaker 2: got partners right who helped.
- 49:19Speaker 5: And one of the things that kind of got glossed
- 49:21Speaker 5: over was like even when this wasn't ready, Coase Props said, look,
- 49:25Speaker 5: take half of whatever I'm making.
- 49:27Speaker 4: Make it happen. Yeah, I had to finish, get it done.
- 49:29Speaker 2: I had to get it done because I'm gonna I
- 49:32Speaker 2: get tired of telling people this, this, this, this this
- 49:35Speaker 2: soon as you just maybe not do it, I'm gonna
- 49:37Speaker 2: only tell you to cut the grass three times. Okay,
- 49:40Speaker 2: after that, I'm gonna do it. Okay, So I'm not
- 49:43Speaker 2: gonna sit up here and just cry, cry, cry. I'm
- 49:45Speaker 2: gonna give you opportunity to do what you've been handsomely
- 49:48Speaker 2: paid to do your job. Then again, I'm gonna do it.
- 49:52Speaker 3: So you've become the most recognizable person in the state
- 49:55Speaker 3: of Mississippi, and I don't even think it's closed, probably
- 49:59Speaker 3: by lands. So with that, I'm assuming there's a lot
- 50:02Speaker 3: on your plate that you probably necessarily didn't sign up for.
- 50:05Speaker 3: So we just had.
- 50:06Speaker 2: I'm not gonna say that. No, everything that that's on
- 50:10Speaker 2: my plate, I've been through the process at the youth level,
- 50:16Speaker 2: at the high school level, or at some level. God
- 50:19Speaker 2: is taking me through it in the dark. So when
- 50:22Speaker 2: you hit the lights, I was ready.
- 50:24Speaker 3: So let's talk about the water crisis, just if you
- 50:29Speaker 3: could educate us, because I mean, we see stuff on
- 50:31Speaker 3: social media. But then we got here. Last night we
- 50:33Speaker 3: went in a hotel. It seemed like it's okay, we're here,
- 50:37Speaker 3: that still school going on. So is it over? How
- 50:40Speaker 3: bad it is, it's not.
- 50:41Speaker 2: I don't feel like it's over. I don't think it's over.
- 50:45Speaker 2: There was no water pressure. We didn't have bathrooms and
- 50:47Speaker 2: didn't have toilets. The kids can take showers. So that
- 50:54Speaker 2: turned the air off. They turned the arrows off and
- 50:56Speaker 2: all the buildings and shut down the school. You can
- 50:59Speaker 2: shut down the school when kids are in dorms. So
- 51:02Speaker 2: you gotta get the kids out of dorms and take
- 51:04Speaker 2: them to a hotel. And that's when my skill set
- 51:10Speaker 2: of being proactive helps instead of reactive. Okay, now when
- 51:16Speaker 2: this comes along, here we go, let's go. This is
- 51:17Speaker 2: what we gotta do. This the ship we get ready
- 51:19Speaker 2: to go play fam you in Florida. I tell you what.
- 51:22Speaker 2: Take the kids to the hotels, do this that We're
- 51:24Speaker 2: gonna feed them right here. We're gonna do this right here.
- 51:26Speaker 2: We're gonna change this here and we'll bust over. We'll
- 51:28Speaker 2: practice here and we're good. We'll go back so they
- 51:30Speaker 2: can shower here. And then we're gonna get leave from
- 51:32Speaker 2: that hotel and going to Miami. Because we leave on
- 51:36Speaker 2: the Thursday, and this hit us on a on a Tuesday,
- 51:39Speaker 2: so we good. Now why we kick it butt? I
- 51:42Speaker 2: ain't even the night before. Hey, we're gonna kick the butts.
- 51:45Speaker 2: Where my kids going when we get back. So you
- 51:48Speaker 2: gotta afford think about that. Uh, I have that notice
- 51:51Speaker 2: to you the morning of the game. So eleven o'clock. Hey,
- 51:54Speaker 2: when my kid's going when we get back. Oh, we
- 51:57Speaker 2: already got them straight at this hotel. They'll stay there
- 52:00Speaker 2: to all this stuff. It's lift cool. We straight Let's
- 52:02Speaker 2: go because there's always about the kids, and I got
- 52:05Speaker 2: to make sure they're straight.
- 52:06Speaker 3: How has the community, how's the community doing?
- 52:10Speaker 2: Jackson is resilient, man. Jackson is some some some tough people.
- 52:17Speaker 2: Some it's some weightmakers, man, it's it's some prayer warriors.
- 52:21Speaker 2: It's some good folks in Jackson that all they need
- 52:24Speaker 2: is hope. And thank God, that's what we're instilling in
- 52:26Speaker 2: them through our play because we give them hope. Because
- 52:31Speaker 2: you see, Jackson, Man, this is the state capitol, State's capital,
- 52:34Speaker 2: and we having crises in the state's capital. We having
- 52:37Speaker 2: the foolishness in the states capitol. You see the roads
- 52:40Speaker 2: in the streets when you it's like you know, dren
- 52:43Speaker 2: in the state's capitol. It shouldn't be like that, but
- 52:45Speaker 2: it is. But they in crime they saying, you know what,
- 52:48Speaker 2: let's proceed. We're gonna perceive with caution, but we're gonna proceed.
- 52:51Speaker 2: And that's how the city of Jackson is there, resilient,
- 52:53Speaker 2: and I appreciate them for that, and they're thankful and
- 52:58Speaker 2: appreciative bunch of people. I can't go anywhere in town
- 53:00Speaker 2: with doubt. White, black, Hispanic agent with a coach brown.
- 53:04Speaker 2: Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you
- 53:07Speaker 2: for just what we're doing here, not what I'm doing,
- 53:10Speaker 2: but what we're doing here because we instilled hope, and
- 53:13Speaker 2: we instill that a you can make it, you can
- 53:16Speaker 2: make it. Just hold on. Yeah.
- 53:17Speaker 5: I think the economic impact of you being here in
- 53:20Speaker 5: twenty and twenty one was I think nineteen million dollars
- 53:24Speaker 5: brought to the city thirty I was gonna get to
- 53:27Speaker 5: this year when they have it estimated over thirty.
- 53:29Speaker 2: You got at least tipples, though it wasn't no tip
- 53:33Speaker 2: when the waitress service is good food, when a waitress
- 53:36Speaker 2: serve you don't just want to tip commic. It wasn't
- 53:38Speaker 2: no tip, common Curtis, give me a tip. At least
- 53:42Speaker 2: here's the program. A tip.
- 53:44Speaker 4: Least over there asking for much.
- 53:49Speaker 2: I mean, nobody sit down with me and talk about this.
- 53:53Speaker 2: You know you brought charity mean into the city. Yes's
- 53:57Speaker 2: tip us was ten. Let's going there.
- 54:06Speaker 5: But okay, yeah, I mean that's a that's a lot, right,
- 54:10Speaker 5: that's a lot for true for I mean a program
- 54:13Speaker 5: which obviously you were the cornerstone, are coming here.
- 54:17Speaker 2: And having that impact.
- 54:18Speaker 5: I wonder how much say or even do they come
- 54:21Speaker 5: to you and say, what can we improve campus.
- 54:26Speaker 2: I just met with them a few weeks ago and
- 54:28Speaker 2: I said, look, it's something we should be able to
- 54:33Speaker 2: do together because we're bringing you true economics, and you
- 54:38Speaker 2: know we are, So let's get together and figure out
- 54:41Speaker 2: how we can help one another. So if we brought
- 54:44Speaker 2: you thirty million and we didn't even communicate, we may
- 54:47Speaker 2: be able to bring you forty five. And we ever
- 54:49Speaker 2: sat down and talk and discuss business and help people
- 54:53Speaker 2: understand what Jackson is, what Jackson had, and what Jackson occupies,
- 54:58Speaker 2: and and promote some but the hotels, the restaurants, some
- 55:03Speaker 2: of the businesses and Jackson. We could do all that
- 55:07Speaker 2: if we just communicate. Let's just do that. So that's
- 55:12Speaker 2: what we are. And I was supposed to have a
- 55:13Speaker 2: meeting this week about that. We just want to see
- 55:20Speaker 2: let us all.
- 55:20Speaker 3: Let me ask you this, as far as being a
- 55:23Speaker 3: leader of young men, how has that been, because obviously
- 55:28Speaker 3: it's not easy dealing with You know, high school is
- 55:31Speaker 3: one thing, but college is a whole different animal. As
- 55:33Speaker 3: far as you know, kids is living on their own
- 55:35Speaker 3: for the first time. It's all kinds of influences. You got, girls,
- 55:40Speaker 3: you got, and now you know, they're getting social media recognition,
- 55:43Speaker 3: they're meeting celebrities. So how has that been as far
- 55:47Speaker 3: as dealing with them young men?
- 55:49Speaker 2: Let me answer the question first. You said being a
- 55:53Speaker 2: leader of young men, it's hard to be a leader
- 55:55Speaker 2: of young men when you haven't been a leader of
- 56:00Speaker 2: older men. I've been a leader of men, so being
- 56:04Speaker 2: the leader of young men is just another level. And
- 56:09Speaker 2: I'm truly prepared because I'm a real daddy. I'm a
- 56:13Speaker 2: real father, and I take bothering serious. So when I'm
- 56:17Speaker 2: looking at these young men, I'm sitting up here in shadors.
- 56:20Speaker 2: There shallows there sometimes and sometimes he ain't. That was
- 56:26Speaker 2: some truth that just fit right. But I try to
- 56:30Speaker 2: get to know them at some point in time personally,
- 56:34Speaker 2: so I know what I'm up against and how to communicate.
- 56:42Speaker 2: I may can't yell at him, but I can yell
- 56:44Speaker 2: at him because he needs it, because he grew up
- 56:46Speaker 2: in a single mother home, single parent home, and mother
- 56:49Speaker 2: and baby him all day, and he needs to hear
- 56:50Speaker 2: a man's voice. He don't really need to be scolded
- 56:53Speaker 2: and got on because he come from a dude parent home.
- 56:56Speaker 2: All he need is direction. Okay, this one right here,
- 56:59Speaker 2: it is late and tardy. He needs structure. So I
- 57:01Speaker 2: got to make sure he stays within the guidelines of
- 57:04Speaker 2: everything him. I got to punish him here and there
- 57:07Speaker 2: to make sure he understands you can't get away with
- 57:08Speaker 2: the foolishness. Either you gonna be a part of this
- 57:10Speaker 2: or you're gonna be out the door. It's so many
- 57:12Speaker 2: different nuances in here, and the coaches do a wonderful
- 57:15Speaker 2: job of understanding all these. All we act is smart, tough, fast,
- 57:19Speaker 2: discipline with character. Smart tough, fast, disciplined with character. And
- 57:22Speaker 2: the fast ain't got nothing to do with running is
- 57:26Speaker 2: to retain things fast when you get hurt, healed fast.
- 57:29Speaker 2: When when we brought up a play, okay, react, read
- 57:33Speaker 2: and react fast. And you know, being smart on the
- 57:36Speaker 2: field off the feel tough, physical and mental toughness. You
- 57:40Speaker 2: know you can't sit up there and blame everything on
- 57:43Speaker 2: mental health. Because I didn't hear you blaming mental health
- 57:46Speaker 2: when you was going touchdowns, but when that thing took
- 57:49Speaker 2: a left and people want to clap it in chair,
- 57:52Speaker 2: now you're gonna wave the mental health flag. I'm a
- 57:55Speaker 2: ride with you, and I'm gonna get your help. But
- 57:56Speaker 2: I'm gonna sit there and look at you say now, now,
- 57:58Speaker 2: I want you to be the same when you up
- 58:00Speaker 2: and when you down. I need the same guy with
- 58:03Speaker 2: that same spirit, that same intensity, that same passion for everything.
- 58:07Speaker 2: So I love this ain't worked for me, man. I
- 58:12Speaker 2: get here probably full forty full forty five every morning
- 58:17Speaker 2: and it ain't nobody here, and I'm ready go over
- 58:20Speaker 2: there and get my work out in, come back, go
- 58:22Speaker 2: over them a note and prepare myself for the morning
- 58:25Speaker 2: message that we have with the kids. And I can't
- 58:27Speaker 2: wait till they ready. So I walk in. The meeting
- 58:29Speaker 2: starts at seven fifteen. That means I'm starting at seven
- 58:31Speaker 2: oh five or seven oh eight seventeen at the latest,
- 58:35Speaker 2: because I'm teaching them how to be early, how to
- 58:37Speaker 2: be prepared.
- 58:37Speaker 3: If you're on late, There you go, Toti, there you go.
- 58:41Speaker 3: I said, valuable lesson in life.
- 58:44Speaker 5: I saw the character building and obviously on your Instagram.
- 58:48Speaker 5: You have the no slides rule and making sure that
- 58:51Speaker 5: everybody there's no tank tops if you're a part of it.
- 58:53Speaker 5: The lastly, we need to somebody speaking on the character
- 58:56Speaker 5: of the players out of here. So you're building not
- 58:59Speaker 5: just athletes, but your building for the future. So you
- 59:02Speaker 5: got Travis and then you have Captain Coleman as well
- 59:05Speaker 5: top you know, the five star recruit. Do you feel
- 59:09Speaker 5: like the power fives are starting to feel threatened about
- 59:12Speaker 5: what you're doing.
- 59:13Speaker 2: No, they're not threatning yet. They threatening, but they know me.
- 59:18Speaker 2: You you don't have to be a threat, but you
- 59:20Speaker 2: being known it's enough. It's like, okay, you know it's
- 59:24Speaker 2: like he over there. Yeah, it's him, he over there.
- 59:29Speaker 2: Ye'll better keep it one on that. I'm not threatening,
- 59:32Speaker 2: but they got it out there. Ain't nothing wrong with that.
- 59:36Speaker 3: Let me ask you this. They said sixty five seventy
- 59:38Speaker 3: percent of NFL athletes go bankrupt five years after they
- 59:43Speaker 3: are done playing. Uh, disturbing statistic. That ain't just in
- 59:48Speaker 3: the veil now well as the NBA. I think he's
- 59:51Speaker 3: a little bit lower, but the NFL is a little
- 59:52Speaker 3: bit higher because your shorter careers, they make less money. Yeah,
- 59:58Speaker 3: how important is it for financial literacy for your kids?
- 1:00:01Speaker 2: Very much so, and we try to incorporate everything. Matter
- 1:00:05Speaker 2: of fact, I have several kids on the team right
- 1:00:08Speaker 2: now that are fathers, but their kids that are fathers
- 1:00:14Speaker 2: of kids. That disturbs me because I know how tough
- 1:00:18Speaker 2: it is to be a real daddy. I don't want
- 1:00:20Speaker 2: them to be a baby daddy. I want them to
- 1:00:22Speaker 2: be a father. So not only financial literacy, but understanding
- 1:00:28Speaker 2: how to be a man. It's a whole another level.
- 1:00:33Speaker 2: Ninety of those kids to sit back there aren't going
- 1:00:36Speaker 2: pro So my focus is not on that five because
- 1:00:38Speaker 2: that five got it. My focus is on that ninety five.
- 1:00:43Speaker 2: The Bible says train of a child and the way
- 1:00:45Speaker 2: it should go when he's over here and never departed.
- 1:00:46Speaker 2: I need to train them up and be the navigational
- 1:00:50Speaker 2: system on where they should go.
- 1:00:52Speaker 3: Was it difficult for you to become a millionaire at
- 1:00:55Speaker 3: a young age? Is you make financial I was always.
- 1:00:57Speaker 2: Cheap manill, but I made some mistakes, definitely, so you know,
- 1:01:03Speaker 2: see it get it wanted. I made some mistakes, but
- 1:01:08Speaker 2: I was blessed because I had two jobs and endorsements.
- 1:01:13Speaker 2: So when Tom Dick and Harry was trying to keep
- 1:01:16Speaker 2: up with prime mean, no, I was I could bank
- 1:01:19Speaker 2: all the football and bank all of baseball and spend
- 1:01:23Speaker 2: all endorsements. That's not how I went down. But I've
- 1:01:27Speaker 2: made some valued, viable mistakes. But real estate has always
- 1:01:30Speaker 2: been good to me and got me back in the game.
- 1:01:32Speaker 2: So I'm a land freak. I love land. I love
- 1:01:35Speaker 2: real estate.
- 1:01:37Speaker 5: Oh so, is there an area of the country or
- 1:01:40Speaker 5: maybe internationally that you're like, all right, this is my focus,
- 1:01:42Speaker 5: this is my hope for real estate.
- 1:01:44Speaker 2: No, I mean homes in land, Like I've always lived
- 1:01:48Speaker 2: on one hundreds of acres and able to flip it,
- 1:01:52Speaker 2: you know, like after ten years of the decade. But
- 1:01:54Speaker 2: now I feel like I found out where I want
- 1:01:56Speaker 2: to live and that's it. But I got that property
- 1:02:00Speaker 2: several places. I'm good. I'm straight.
- 1:02:02Speaker 3: So I heard you say something that was interesting to
- 1:02:04Speaker 3: me because I always knew that you didn't drink or smoke,
- 1:02:10Speaker 3: But what I didn't know You said, like, you're more
- 1:02:12Speaker 3: of an introverted person, like you don't gonna like to
- 1:02:14Speaker 3: be around, which is interesting because your hope her Souna's
- 1:02:16Speaker 3: prime Time and dance and flash to chains all of that.
- 1:02:21Speaker 3: So I was surprised to hear you say that, but
- 1:02:25Speaker 3: you articulated it very well when I heard you spoke
- 1:02:27Speaker 3: about that. So can you talk about that as far?
- 1:02:28Speaker 3: I think you said something like the Prime Time was
- 1:02:30Speaker 3: more like a carrier.
- 1:02:31Speaker 2: Yeah, that's a switch. When I see cameras, I can
- 1:02:34Speaker 2: hit a switch. And I know how to entertain, I
- 1:02:37Speaker 2: know how to inform. But when you're gone, Sam will
- 1:02:41Speaker 2: tell you, I'm gonna go into office and seclude myself
- 1:02:44Speaker 2: and engulf myself in trying to be dominant in what
- 1:02:47Speaker 2: we do. And I'd rather not be in a crowd.
- 1:02:51Speaker 2: I don't I don't mind playing in front of crowds,
- 1:02:54Speaker 2: but I'm not gonna go into a crowd. I'm never
- 1:02:57Speaker 2: gonna do that, like knowingly and selfishly. I'm not that
- 1:03:01Speaker 2: kind of person. I'm never gonna be the loudest guy
- 1:03:06Speaker 2: in the room. I'm not that kind of person. I'm
- 1:03:08Speaker 2: never gonna sit there and articulate about my whole life
- 1:03:13Speaker 2: unlesson being interviewed, because that ain't me. The only time
- 1:03:16Speaker 2: I raised my voice is when I'm out there on
- 1:03:19Speaker 2: the field. So there's d On this Prime. Prime you
- 1:03:26Speaker 2: know commands checks. Yeah, d On makes sure Prime is
- 1:03:35Speaker 2: on his job and make sure he's balance. They both
- 1:03:41Speaker 2: need it.
- 1:03:41Speaker 4: Absolutely.
- 1:03:43Speaker 5: You talked about the power of relationships, and you spoke
- 1:03:45Speaker 5: about some people who have come to the school obviously uh,
- 1:03:48Speaker 5: former NFL players, but you also start to bring in
- 1:03:51Speaker 5: NFL coaches. Yes, so can you talk about the importance
- 1:03:53Speaker 5: of that, because that when you have that type of
- 1:03:57Speaker 5: character and you have that type of mindset, it, you know,
- 1:04:01Speaker 5: it spills down to the players. Now they're coach at
- 1:04:03Speaker 5: an NFL level, whereas they didn't have.
- 1:04:05Speaker 4: To go to big school to do it. They can
- 1:04:06Speaker 4: come right here and do point.
- 1:04:08Speaker 2: That was tremendous for me when I comprised a staff.
- 1:04:13Speaker 2: You got to understand, Now you take a par of
- 1:04:15Speaker 2: five job, it's a totally different game because your staff
- 1:04:19Speaker 2: has to be at a certain level. You take an
- 1:04:23Speaker 2: HBCU job, it's another thing. Not only your staff have
- 1:04:28Speaker 2: to be at a certain level, they got to be
- 1:04:30Speaker 2: relatable to these kids. So when I'm able to go
- 1:04:36Speaker 2: divide my staff up and say, okay, I got four
- 1:04:38Speaker 2: guys from the NFL, I got a few guys from college,
- 1:04:42Speaker 2: and I got a few high school guys, that's unbelievable
- 1:04:46Speaker 2: because it's all relatable. We got guys coming out of
- 1:04:49Speaker 2: high school going to college want to go to the NFL.
- 1:04:52Speaker 2: So I got guys that can touch them in every
- 1:04:55Speaker 2: aspect of life, and being able to sit them down
- 1:05:00Speaker 2: down with a guy who has a plethora of years
- 1:05:03Speaker 2: in the NFL to talk to them and say this
- 1:05:06Speaker 2: is how it is. What coach is telling you is
- 1:05:07Speaker 2: one hundred. You can't do that foolishness out there because
- 1:05:11Speaker 2: they just gonna cut you and it's gonna be over.
- 1:05:13Speaker 2: So having that knowledge and having the audacity to be
- 1:05:18Speaker 2: able to call a guy one linebacker was talking junk
- 1:05:21Speaker 2: about who he was, what he was. All right, let
- 1:05:23Speaker 2: me ask ray Lewis okay, right? Can you tell this
- 1:05:26Speaker 2: food what them? You know? It's like that. So when
- 1:05:30Speaker 2: you have those type of relationships, and I've done that
- 1:05:32Speaker 2: several times with some of my friends, just to show
- 1:05:35Speaker 2: these guys and put them on the screen in the
- 1:05:38Speaker 2: morning and let them see touch these guys with Michael
- 1:05:42Speaker 2: Irvins and some of these guys that are phenomenal, like dang,
- 1:05:45Speaker 2: you know that was Chad on your single. That was
- 1:05:48Speaker 2: Michael Irban right there in the meeting room. You know,
- 1:05:50Speaker 2: it's it's it's wonderful and those kids need that, man,
- 1:05:53Speaker 2: They need to see that they can make it and
- 1:05:55Speaker 2: see that person that made it.
- 1:05:57Speaker 4: Chat ain't get by you yet right now. Oh yeah,
- 1:06:01Speaker 4: they got a thing on.
- 1:06:05Speaker 2: We got it on sight.
- 1:06:07Speaker 3: Shout out to Chat. So you said something that was
- 1:06:10Speaker 3: interested on social media. You said that the Hall of Fame,
- 1:06:12Speaker 3: that should be a hall of fame like levels.
- 1:06:14Speaker 2: To levels of everything.
- 1:06:17Speaker 3: Yeah, it's the fact everything should be levels to.
- 1:06:20Speaker 6: That because come on, just the one that this is
- 1:06:24Speaker 6: gonna say, let me get my TV right, who is that?
- 1:06:32Speaker 1: What? What?
- 1:06:34Speaker 2: What? To me?
- 1:06:36Speaker 4: That's they just announced that the new nominees today.
- 1:06:39Speaker 2: To me, a Hall of Famer growing up was a
- 1:06:42Speaker 2: guy who changed the game, like Mal Blunt. Man was
- 1:06:46Speaker 2: that dude for me? Like Mail Blunt changed the game.
- 1:06:49Speaker 2: He was so valient and physical. They changed the whole
- 1:06:52Speaker 2: contact rule down the field because he was teen yards
- 1:06:55Speaker 2: down the field. You know, he was just just breaking
- 1:06:58Speaker 2: them off. And certain guys just changed the game. Now
- 1:07:05Speaker 2: it's guys that played the game then you had a
- 1:07:08Speaker 2: few good years that that ain't right for me, man,
- 1:07:11Speaker 2: that that's not what I grew up on. They unchanged
- 1:07:15Speaker 2: the game. They've changed the Hall of Fame game.
- 1:07:18Speaker 4: To me, you grew up with I mean I grew up.
- 1:07:20Speaker 4: You played with game changes.
- 1:07:23Speaker 2: I played to me. My era was Let me put
- 1:07:27Speaker 2: this like, let me give you a argument when people
- 1:07:30Speaker 2: talk about receivers, and I said, Okay, Jerry was in
- 1:07:35Speaker 2: my era the greatest, the greatest. But who Jerry had
- 1:07:39Speaker 2: thrown to him? Yeah, okay, so not only I had
- 1:07:44Speaker 2: the cover the greatest, greatest was throwing to him. So
- 1:07:47Speaker 2: in my era, mica Irwin was one of the greatest.
- 1:07:49Speaker 2: Right who was throwing to him? Three Super Bowls? What
- 1:07:53Speaker 2: he one of the greatest? Two? I mean, who keep going?
- 1:08:00Speaker 2: You keep going with the quarterbacks of marriage Jim Kelly,
- 1:08:03Speaker 2: Who are at Andre Re? And who else?
- 1:08:06Speaker 4: James Lost James Loften, Lofty Loft, we.
- 1:08:09Speaker 2: Keep going all day. What I'm saying like, it wasn't
- 1:08:13Speaker 2: just I'm covering the Hall of Famer, it's another one
- 1:08:16Speaker 2: throwing it. Now, you're lucky to get one cat. You're
- 1:08:20Speaker 2: not gonna get the quarterback and the receiver. It's gonna
- 1:08:24Speaker 2: be one. It was a different it was a different era.
- 1:08:28Speaker 5: It was a difficult error. Okay, go ahead, say what
- 1:08:32Speaker 5: you're gonna say. I'm thinking I'm thinking of quarterback receiver
- 1:08:37Speaker 5: combos that could end up in the Hall of Fame
- 1:08:40Speaker 5: right now, that could from this past decade. I think
- 1:08:44Speaker 5: Rothlisberger and ab could go this based on stats, based
- 1:08:53Speaker 5: on stats for the first.
- 1:08:54Speaker 4: No good with ad Oh, but I mean you know
- 1:08:57Speaker 4: then that he's not whole. I think he is the
- 1:09:02Speaker 4: chips too in my ara.
- 1:09:05Speaker 2: Whole.
- 1:09:05Speaker 4: Yeah, he won one to Jim Kelly.
- 1:09:07Speaker 3: That's a fact. That's a fact, and it ain't It
- 1:09:10Speaker 3: ain't just.
- 1:09:12Speaker 2: He didn't win the team, thank you. When Jim Kelly
- 1:09:16Speaker 2: was Jim Kelly, Jim Kelly was Jim Kelly. Teams get wins. No,
- 1:09:20Speaker 2: Jim Kelly was that they had something man to shoot.
- 1:09:23Speaker 4: It's tough. I'm not taking anything away fro jail.
- 1:09:25Speaker 2: They had tough that that that offense, the way they
- 1:09:28Speaker 2: ran that thing, man, please, they put everybody on notice
- 1:09:31Speaker 2: in the secondary. Everybody's gonna get it, all right, Rogers
- 1:09:33Speaker 2: and and Adams debt. They're not together no more dog,
- 1:09:37Speaker 2: but they were. I'm saying from this this past new
- 1:09:40Speaker 2: addition was together one time, but going together.
- 1:09:46Speaker 4: It was is Bobby going the boat and uh what
- 1:09:51Speaker 4: I ate every dight.
- 1:09:53Speaker 2: Who was that the big one? That the big one
- 1:09:56Speaker 2: that I ate every dance. I can't even recognize you
- 1:09:58Speaker 2: the right to Johnny that was that was recognized Johnny.
- 1:10:06Speaker 2: I probably got Johnny my Man.
- 1:10:11Speaker 4: Yeah, I want to say I got a better one,
- 1:10:15Speaker 4: Marvin Harrison or Reggie Wayne.
- 1:10:16Speaker 2: Yes, these are Hall of famous. That was in my era.
- 1:10:20Speaker 3: That was ten years ago.
- 1:10:22Speaker 4: That was Payton, the Marbles in a yea later later later.
- 1:10:26Speaker 2: Yeah, that's just started.
- 1:10:29Speaker 4: Yeah, that's that's like your Ravens years though, No, they was.
- 1:10:32Speaker 2: They was in the mid Cowboy years.
- 1:10:34Speaker 3: And then also what happened after you left is that
- 1:10:35Speaker 3: the league became a wide receivers league, and all of
- 1:10:38Speaker 3: these wide receivers became the face of the league and
- 1:10:40Speaker 3: they started becoming it's always.
- 1:10:43Speaker 2: A quarterbacks quarterback. Yeah, but they still don't have the
- 1:10:46Speaker 2: like if you went back. They don't have the numbers.
- 1:10:48Speaker 2: They don't have the numbers. The wide receivers they don't
- 1:10:50Speaker 2: have the numbers. They're good, but they don't have numbers.
- 1:10:53Speaker 4: That's why I said they that because he has the numbers.
- 1:10:57Speaker 2: I promise you, I'm gonna tell you someth heb is
- 1:11:00Speaker 2: my dog. Y'all know how I feel about it. It
- 1:11:05Speaker 2: would be all hell broke loose. If they let being all,
- 1:11:11Speaker 2: I would go. I ain't been back since I would
- 1:11:13Speaker 2: go just.
- 1:11:14Speaker 3: To see that one that's gonna be gonna dance.
- 1:11:19Speaker 2: He'd be probably cut the butt, nuggad.
- 1:11:22Speaker 3: It's a chance.
- 1:11:23Speaker 4: So if if we if we make it levels, what
- 1:11:27Speaker 4: what color jacket that we're gonna be there?
- 1:11:29Speaker 2: It should be a bright red, bright red? Yep, who's
- 1:11:32Speaker 2: in there with you?
- 1:11:33Speaker 3: For the elite, for the leader?
- 1:11:34Speaker 4: What you mean, who's in there? Who's winning the rad shoot.
- 1:11:38Speaker 2: Games? You want to go position back position Tom Brady, definitely,
- 1:11:41Speaker 2: you just want to go. That's one team like that, Yeah,
- 1:11:44Speaker 2: one team, let's go. Let's okay, one team. Let's go
- 1:11:46Speaker 2: ride with Brady.
- 1:11:47Speaker 4: Who's a running back?
- 1:11:48Speaker 2: Running back? That that that's a that's a that's tough
- 1:11:51Speaker 2: for that though, I tell you what to two backs,
- 1:11:54Speaker 2: two backs, Jim Brown.
- 1:11:55Speaker 3: Okay, interesting's whose other one?
- 1:11:59Speaker 2: That's a tough one. That because I'll put Barry in there.
- 1:12:01Speaker 3: Barry Santas was my favorite him and like Barry Sanders,
- 1:12:04Speaker 3: they were just you know what, Barry never won and
- 1:12:07Speaker 3: it's difficult to put him in that.
- 1:12:09Speaker 2: It was a dog too though.
- 1:12:10Speaker 3: Garry Santas, like Alan iverson football it was a dog too.
- 1:12:13Speaker 5: You.
- 1:12:15Speaker 4: I said, let's go the next position. Uh do we
- 1:12:18Speaker 4: have to do full back? Let's do full back? All right,
- 1:12:21Speaker 4: Wide receivers, Jerry Moss, Terry Moss, that's it.
- 1:12:26Speaker 2: That's top too, that's it.
- 1:12:27Speaker 4: Okay, uh skip the lines.
- 1:12:29Speaker 2: Let's what you want to do.
- 1:12:31Speaker 4: Defensive line.
- 1:12:32Speaker 2: You don't know the offense lines to go ahead and.
- 1:12:34Speaker 5: Offensive line will skipon off Who's who's who's the offensive
- 1:12:37Speaker 5: line the best?
- 1:12:39Speaker 2: Yes? Okay, Larry Allen was a killer. Let's just get
- 1:12:42Speaker 2: this Cowboys.
- 1:12:43Speaker 4: Barry Allen is crazy. Uhmos Cincinnati.
- 1:12:49Speaker 2: That's like eighties guys, struggling.
- 1:12:51Speaker 4: No, no, I'm just trying to put.
- 1:12:55Speaker 2: A lineman.
- 1:12:55Speaker 5: Don't get commercials defensive linement. Let's go defensive line health.
- 1:13:00Speaker 5: That's where you started. Of course, he's a lot that's
- 1:13:04Speaker 5: changed the game from linebacker to Russia Reggie White. Okay,
- 1:13:08Speaker 5: we'll take those two. Yeah, you have two now.
- 1:13:12Speaker 4: Inside all Aaron aright now.
- 1:13:15Speaker 3: Already yeah, ever, yes, ever.
- 1:13:20Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, it's tougher now. Yeah, but this this is
- 1:13:24Speaker 2: a beast. That's tough.
- 1:13:25Speaker 4: Now, he's a beast. What's that was the beast? That
- 1:13:27Speaker 4: was a beast? And then he wasn't a beast for
- 1:13:29Speaker 4: a little?
- 1:13:30Speaker 2: What about what about? Yeah? Yeah, okay, okay, okay. Linebacker?
- 1:13:37Speaker 2: Oh yeah, ray Lewis, ray Lewis for sure? Who's the other.
- 1:13:44Speaker 4: My favorite linebacker?
- 1:13:45Speaker 2: You have the game? Game change it? You have to
- 1:13:47Speaker 2: go old school?
- 1:13:48Speaker 4: Are you gonna say buckets or segretary? What are you
- 1:13:51Speaker 4: gonna say? I say buckets?
- 1:13:52Speaker 2: Okay? All here we go. Quarterback, I mean outside of you?
- 1:14:00Speaker 2: Was the other quarterback? You turned my back to have
- 1:14:04Speaker 2: a vote for that? Who's the other quarterback? The other
- 1:14:06Speaker 2: cornerback is uh Mail Blunt?
- 1:14:09Speaker 4: What's that you said that? He said he's gonna say that? Yeah.
- 1:14:12Speaker 2: I thought she's gonna say Rob Wilson. Rod was more
- 1:14:16Speaker 2: of a safety to me. There you go, though you
- 1:14:19Speaker 2: did your homework. Did your homework?
- 1:14:22Speaker 4: Okay?
- 1:14:23Speaker 2: Even though you've never seen him play? But you did?
- 1:14:25Speaker 2: Did you know? So?
- 1:14:27Speaker 4: Then we get safety? Can I get too free?
- 1:14:29Speaker 2: Safety? Safety?
- 1:14:30Speaker 5: You got to I'm gonna say the best that I've
- 1:14:33Speaker 5: seen in my lifetime, Ronnie Lott, All right with you.
- 1:14:38Speaker 5: I'm in the cup with your great guys, the punter, yes,
- 1:14:44Speaker 5: special teams, Rick Devin Helster. I thought she was gonna
- 1:14:47Speaker 5: say you, but I was gonna say that, how does
- 1:14:50Speaker 5: Devin Helster not the first ballot whole fam.
- 1:14:52Speaker 2: He's up there this year, it was the last year.
- 1:14:53Speaker 2: Was the last year? That was the insult.
- 1:14:55Speaker 4: Yeah, he's definitely, that's what That's what really triggered me.
- 1:14:58Speaker 2: Yeah, you ain't putting my.
- 1:14:59Speaker 4: Boy in in tight end the best tight end Shark.
- 1:15:03Speaker 4: It's not shanting Shark.
- 1:15:04Speaker 2: It's not a he's a He's gonna say Grunk.
- 1:15:09Speaker 4: I might have to say Gronk, but but.
- 1:15:13Speaker 2: I think it would be Kelsey when it's all sitting there.
- 1:15:20Speaker 2: The number of catches the game has changed.
- 1:15:22Speaker 4: How many tight ends let the league in receiving yards?
- 1:15:25Speaker 2: I mean the quarterbacks throw that much. Now Yeah, Now
- 1:15:30Speaker 2: I was in.
- 1:15:30Speaker 4: The conversation, of course, Shannon Sharks.
- 1:15:32Speaker 2: Yeah, but you gotta understand, see Gunk era, this is
- 1:15:35Speaker 2: how Grady was. Brady's era. They always won, say, they
- 1:15:39Speaker 2: were always up Therefore they didn't have to throw at
- 1:15:43Speaker 2: the conclusion of the game. It wasn't tight. He was
- 1:15:45Speaker 2: already winning, so he didn't wrack up.
- 1:15:47Speaker 4: His numbers and he got hurt.
- 1:15:49Speaker 2: Yeah, think about that. See a lot of guys that
- 1:15:51Speaker 2: catch a lot of balls they losing too. Now, and
- 1:15:54Speaker 2: they have to throw throw, throw, and they getting any receptions.
- 1:15:57Speaker 4: You know, the two thousand yard Russia.
- 1:16:00Speaker 2: If you want to see a great corner, watch you
- 1:16:02Speaker 2: guy on a bad team, a great corner. M hmm.
- 1:16:06Speaker 2: Watch him on a bad team. Watch the cornerbacks on
- 1:16:07Speaker 2: a bad team where you're getting your butt shell act.
- 1:16:13Speaker 2: If you get your numbers on a bad team, you're
- 1:16:14Speaker 2: doing so.
- 1:16:15Speaker 5: I'm a Washington guy. So Daryl Gan there was a
- 1:16:18Speaker 5: bad boy. He was a good one. He's short, but
- 1:16:20Speaker 5: he was great.
- 1:16:22Speaker 4: Champ Bailly, another Washington champs, went to Denvil.
- 1:16:25Speaker 5: He's up for the he's up for the for the
- 1:16:27Speaker 5: Hall of Fame right now already he said, no, I'm sorry.
- 1:16:29Speaker 2: Throughout Reeves is up. Yeah, Reavers first ball, this is
- 1:16:33Speaker 2: his yea.
- 1:16:33Speaker 3: So we have Tom Brady has a quarterback that's sure,
- 1:16:36Speaker 3: Tom or Joe, Tom or Joe.
- 1:16:39Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm telling this. Out of those.
- 1:16:42Speaker 4: We got a team. We got the all the all
- 1:16:44Speaker 4: UYL team right there.
- 1:16:45Speaker 2: Yes, I got you.
- 1:16:48Speaker 3: Well, prime before before we wrap it up, what's your
- 1:16:52Speaker 3: what's your plan for Jackson State in the next you know,
- 1:16:54Speaker 3: a couple of years, five years? How do you do
- 1:16:56Speaker 3: you what's your I don't I don't do that. You
- 1:16:59Speaker 3: don't do that.
- 1:16:59Speaker 2: I'm gonna do dominate today and when I get tomorrow,
- 1:17:02Speaker 2: i'mnna dominate that. I don't do that personally, life cool,
- 1:17:06Speaker 2: but not for Jackson Adams do that. I gotta stay
- 1:17:10Speaker 2: right here and laser focus. Man. I'm trying to dominate
- 1:17:14Speaker 2: for the rest of the day. Then I'm gonna get
- 1:17:15Speaker 2: up and do it again tomorrow.
- 1:17:16Speaker 4: Dak Prescott, he's in Mississippi, went to Mississippi State.
- 1:17:21Speaker 5: He's a man there. Yeah, and now he's the America's team,
- 1:17:25Speaker 5: so it's not America's team.
- 1:17:30Speaker 2: Man. My old boss Jerry Jones is the best marketer ever.
- 1:17:34Speaker 2: He came up with this. He's the only man that
- 1:17:38Speaker 2: could get you to believe that his team is gonna
- 1:17:40Speaker 2: win the championship every year and they never do. I
- 1:17:43Speaker 2: love him for that.
- 1:17:45Speaker 4: Were you on the last seam knowing yes, ninety wow,
- 1:17:49Speaker 4: it's been a minute, right.
- 1:17:50Speaker 5: That hurt me when you went over there by the way,
- 1:17:52Speaker 5: we don't want nowhere when you went Dallas, Yeah, business,
- 1:17:55Speaker 5: I never was.
- 1:17:56Speaker 2: I just was, I know, but he never offered me.
- 1:18:00Speaker 2: They never told you that. They never offered me. You know.
- 1:18:02Speaker 2: I found out I was playing for the Giants. And
- 1:18:06Speaker 2: I was in this restaurant and it was a preseason
- 1:18:10Speaker 2: and I seen this little white kid. Man, I think
- 1:18:12Speaker 2: he's catching punts of some with twenty one on. That's
- 1:18:16Speaker 2: I called my agent. I guess we ain't going back down. Huh.
- 1:18:19Speaker 2: That's how I found out straight up, that's crazy.
- 1:18:24Speaker 3: You're the only player that's ever played in a World
- 1:18:28Speaker 3: Series and Super Bowl.
- 1:18:29Speaker 2: True that I believe. I don't think it ever happened. Again,
- 1:18:31Speaker 2: they won't even allow it.
- 1:18:32Speaker 3: Well, I was gonna ask you because you and both
- 1:18:34Speaker 3: Jackson the only people that's actually in my knowledge have
- 1:18:37Speaker 3: done that successfully for football.
- 1:18:38Speaker 2: And Brian Jordan. Had Brian Jordan, he was my teammate
- 1:18:42Speaker 2: and he would have been an All Pro. And had
- 1:18:44Speaker 2: he continued playing football, damn forgot about him. He was
- 1:18:47Speaker 2: a dog.
- 1:18:48Speaker 3: Do you think that you maximize your baseball career or.
- 1:18:51Speaker 2: Do you know? No, I left it on the table.
- 1:18:54Speaker 2: I have baseball dreams all the time.
- 1:18:56Speaker 3: You think you could have done more.
- 1:18:56Speaker 2: Man, When I have dreams all the time, I only
- 1:18:59Speaker 2: have dreams of things that were incomplete. I don't have
- 1:19:02Speaker 2: dreams of things that were complete. So I dreamed about
- 1:19:06Speaker 2: baseball all the time. You were a great Yankee.
- 1:19:10Speaker 5: That was all right Yankee. I'm talking a good brave
- 1:19:14Speaker 5: or good red, but never great his So you played
- 1:19:17Speaker 5: for Stop Runner and he played for Jerry Jones. Yep,
- 1:19:20Speaker 5: both of them were unbelieva owners. Changed the game, both changed. Yes,
- 1:19:25Speaker 5: game changes.
- 1:19:26Speaker 2: Yeah. I would have actually played baseball seniorly. George Steinberg
- 1:19:34Speaker 2: offered ment deal, and that they pulled. He got into
- 1:19:38Speaker 2: some junk and they pulled it back off the table.
- 1:19:40Speaker 2: But I was going to accept it to play baseball full.
- 1:19:42Speaker 3: Time and not play football.
- 1:19:45Speaker 2: Football wouldn't have been the priority baseball with him, So
- 1:19:48Speaker 2: I probably would have caught the backside of football last
- 1:19:52Speaker 2: several games, which was cool. I did that several years anyway,
- 1:19:56Speaker 2: just didn't seem like it, but I did.
- 1:19:58Speaker 5: Yeah, because that season is over October October, and that's
- 1:20:01Speaker 5: probably like week four.
- 1:20:04Speaker 3: So you think that will never happen again?
- 1:20:05Speaker 2: Baseball on football they won't allow it because they don't
- 1:20:07Speaker 2: let the kids play dual sports anymore. Yeah, I wish
- 1:20:13Speaker 2: it would, man. I appreciate you all to though.
- 1:20:16Speaker 3: Thank you, brother, and cool. Appreciate it. Brother.
