Latest / Foul Territory / Max Muncy: WS tattoos, Deferrals, Ohtani trolling + No Imai for SF?
Transcript
- 0:04Speaker 1: And we've got Max Munzi ready to go back to
- 0:08Speaker 1: back champ with us on FT Max, good to see you.
- 0:11Speaker 1: While we were talking about it for a moment, AJ
- 0:13Speaker 1: and me were in some silly deferrals debate yesterday. I'm
- 0:17Speaker 1: not going to bring that to this, but I do
- 0:19Speaker 1: want to bring this part of the conversation up.
- 0:22Speaker 2: Max.
- 0:23Speaker 1: Did you know that the Dodgers are actually not the
- 0:25Speaker 1: only team that gives out deferrals? Almost every deal I've
- 0:28Speaker 1: been reading this offseason involves other teams giving out deferrals.
- 0:31Speaker 1: It's crazy. Dylan c Scott a chunk of deferrals. So
- 0:34Speaker 1: it's it's maybe not as unfair in the landscape as
- 0:38Speaker 1: we thought it was going to be, or as some
- 0:40Speaker 1: people are told by the league.
- 0:42Speaker 2: What do you think? Yeah, I mean, every team's always
- 0:45Speaker 2: been allowed to do it. It's not like we crack
- 0:48Speaker 2: some secret code. Yeah. Like I said, every team's always
- 0:52Speaker 2: been allowed to do it, and that's that's how it's
- 0:54Speaker 2: always been. It's uh uh, it just you have to
- 0:58Speaker 2: as a player, you have to, you know, want to
- 1:00Speaker 2: agree to that. And then you know, my understanding of
- 1:02Speaker 2: how the deferrals work is the club has to be
- 1:04Speaker 2: able to front that money even though they're not paying
- 1:07Speaker 2: it to you. They stuff to be able to cover
- 1:09Speaker 2: that money right away. And so that might be where
- 1:12Speaker 2: it gets tricky with the clubs and not want to
- 1:14Speaker 2: do deferrals. But uh yeah, every team has always been
- 1:17Speaker 2: allowed to do it.
- 1:18Speaker 3: I mean, this is I wasn't gonna ask this until
- 1:20Speaker 3: you said it. But did you ever see a time
- 1:22Speaker 3: when Showhey was like, guys, can I borrow a few
- 1:26Speaker 3: bucks because he was only making two million dollars this year?
- 1:28Speaker 3: Or was he was? He totally find the same generous
- 1:32Speaker 3: show Hey that he's always been a.
- 1:34Speaker 2: Mean shows never changed. I mean, let's be honest, Shows
- 1:37Speaker 2: doing just fine with with his off the field stuff.
- 1:40Speaker 2: So h you know, I think I think he's doing
- 1:43Speaker 2: all right.
- 1:45Speaker 3: Okay, good, I'm glad you. I'm glad you clean that up.
- 1:47Speaker 3: But I'm going to go to your teammates because another
- 1:50Speaker 3: team had something come up that I thought was kind
- 1:53Speaker 3: of a know nothingness to talk about. But it was
- 1:57Speaker 3: arguments between players. Certain players will argue about how somebody
- 2:01Speaker 3: made a play or whatever. You guys won the World
- 2:03Speaker 3: Series this year, did you have any arguments at all
- 2:07Speaker 3: during one hundred and sixty two game plus spring training,
- 2:10Speaker 3: plus World Series moment where somebody had to call somebody out,
- 2:15Speaker 3: somebody was mad at somebody else during the entire season.
- 2:19Speaker 2: You know, one of the unique things with our roster
- 2:23Speaker 2: is there's so much experience and you know, veterancy that
- 2:29Speaker 2: you know, when people get called out, it's never an argument.
- 2:32Speaker 2: It's always you know, hey, this is how we probably
- 2:37Speaker 2: should have done this, this is how you need to
- 2:38Speaker 2: do this. And like, there's so much respect for everyone
- 2:41Speaker 2: inside the clubhouse that that never turns into an argument.
- 2:44Speaker 2: It's always a discussion. It's you know, if if someone
- 2:49Speaker 2: came to me and was like, hey, you should do this,
- 2:51Speaker 2: I would tell them, all right, this is what I
- 2:53Speaker 2: was thinking. You're right, I prob I should have done
- 2:56Speaker 2: this way, But this is what was going through my
- 2:57Speaker 2: head at that moment. That's why I did it this way.
- 3:00Speaker 2: And that's happened several times throughout the course, you know,
- 3:03Speaker 2: of all the seasons I've been there, where they's just
- 3:05Speaker 2: it just turns into discussions instead of hey, what are
- 3:09Speaker 2: you doing. You need to pull your head out of
- 3:10Speaker 2: your you know, pull your head out of your butt,
- 3:12Speaker 2: and you know, it's it's never it's never been that
- 3:15Speaker 2: way since I've been here with the Dodgers, and you know,
- 3:17Speaker 2: there's been a lot of discussions that go on with
- 3:19Speaker 2: but it's it's it's just grown men having conversations about
- 3:23Speaker 2: what we need to do to be better at certain things.
- 3:25Speaker 2: And you know that that's just the whole team holding
- 3:28Speaker 2: each other accountable and it's never escalated to the point
- 3:30Speaker 2: of being you know, an argument that's that's caught on camera.
- 3:36Speaker 4: Max, Is that from Dave? Is that from Doc?
- 3:38Speaker 5: Or is that from guys like you and Freddie and
- 3:41Speaker 5: Mookie and Clayton.
- 3:43Speaker 4: And guys like that?
- 3:44Speaker 5: Because I listen, I've been on teams where guys we
- 3:47Speaker 5: won and you didn't always get along. There was there
- 3:50Speaker 5: was arguments or discussions or whatever you want to call it.
- 3:52Speaker 5: But does that think it's a day or is that
- 3:55Speaker 5: just think you guys are all really good and you're like,
- 3:57Speaker 5: you know what, we can have mature argument.
- 3:59Speaker 2: I think it's a it's an all the above thing.
- 4:02Speaker 2: You know, Doc has always had his finger on the
- 4:05Speaker 2: pulse of the clubhouse. He knows exactly what's going on
- 4:09Speaker 2: with people. He knows, you know, who he can talk
- 4:12Speaker 2: to certain ways. Uh, you know, because everyone's different there's
- 4:16Speaker 2: some guys that need to have you know, they need
- 4:19Speaker 2: to get chewed out a little bit, and there's other
- 4:20Speaker 2: guys you need to coddle them a little bit, and
- 4:23Speaker 2: you know, sometimes you have to go outside the norm.
- 4:25Speaker 2: But but Doc always knows who he can talk to
- 4:27Speaker 2: and how he can approach certain ways and what he
- 4:30Speaker 2: needs to do to get the most out of players.
- 4:32Speaker 2: And then the other part of it is it's just
- 4:34Speaker 2: everyone in the clubhouse knowing. You know, if if if
- 4:38Speaker 2: Freddy is coming up to you and saying something, you're
- 4:40Speaker 2: not just going to immediately jump back at Freddie and
- 4:42Speaker 2: you know, start getting mad at him because it's like, Okay,
- 4:44Speaker 2: this guy's been around a long time, he knows what
- 4:45Speaker 2: he's doing. If Mookie's saying that, you know, I remember
- 4:49Speaker 2: very clearly, you know, within the first month of us
- 4:52Speaker 2: having show, Hey, there was a a play where he
- 4:56Speaker 2: was running the bases and he didn't get necessarily get
- 4:58Speaker 2: as good as secondary le. He wasn't able to score
- 5:01Speaker 2: on a certain play. And after the game it was
- 5:04Speaker 2: like Freddie Mookie Clayton, our first base coach, uh, you know,
- 5:09Speaker 2: several of us grabbed him and we just said, hey,
- 5:11Speaker 2: we just want to show you something. You know, this
- 5:14Speaker 2: is this is what you did on your secondary that
- 5:16Speaker 2: you need to be a little bit better at this
- 5:18Speaker 2: and that would allow you to score. And you know,
- 5:21Speaker 2: he was just like, oh, this is great. People were
- 5:24Speaker 2: approaching me and wanting to talk to me about that,
- 5:26Speaker 2: you know, And that's just that's how we've always done
- 5:28Speaker 2: things here and it's just, uh, you know, that's part
- 5:31Speaker 2: of the culture that we've created.
- 5:33Speaker 5: But by the way, your answer to the question is
- 5:35Speaker 5: you see over your one, I think it's this shoulder,
- 5:38Speaker 5: see the trophy, and then you're gonna have one over
- 5:40Speaker 5: this shoulder.
- 5:41Speaker 4: Yeah, that one, that's Oh, you're bad. Oh, and then
- 5:45Speaker 4: you're gonna have a third one.
- 5:47Speaker 5: What are you gonna do with it? You're gonna stack
- 5:49Speaker 5: on like a pyramid. You're gonna take the two, want
- 5:51Speaker 5: the third one on top? I mean, you're bad.
- 5:55Speaker 2: We're still we're still figuring that one out. You know
- 5:57Speaker 2: that that one's on the way. I don't know when
- 5:59Speaker 2: to get here, but yeah, well we'll figure out what
- 6:01Speaker 2: to do with it. I love that, I love I
- 6:05Speaker 2: love that.
- 6:06Speaker 3: Is there anybody is there anybody on the team that like,
- 6:09Speaker 3: you know, they don't respond to like the oh great job, Max. Oh,
- 6:15Speaker 3: that's like the example I give is d D. Gregorious
- 6:19Speaker 3: was always he like he would yell at somebody if
- 6:22Speaker 3: they if they said, oh, good swing, d D. He's like,
- 6:25Speaker 3: good swing.
- 6:26Speaker 2: He's like, I got out.
- 6:27Speaker 3: I don't care if I hit every ball hard and
- 6:29Speaker 3: I get out, I'm pissed. Who's that guy on the
- 6:31Speaker 3: Dodgers that just is like, no, it's all about like it.
- 6:35Speaker 3: Do not coddle me at all.
- 6:40Speaker 2: I mean, Freddy's that way a little bit. Freddie always
- 6:42Speaker 2: thinks his swing sucks, and then he's hitting three thirty
- 6:44Speaker 2: at the end of the year and it's like, you know,
- 6:48Speaker 2: you know, it's just that that but that that's how
- 6:50Speaker 2: Freddie operates. That's what makes him, you know, one of
- 6:52Speaker 2: the best for his basement. Ever, that's just how he
- 6:55Speaker 2: that's how his mind operates. He he always thinks he
- 6:58Speaker 2: needs to fix something in his swing. And even though
- 7:00Speaker 2: his swing is super simple, it's it's you know, that's
- 7:02Speaker 2: just how he's always thinking. He's, oh, my swing's cutty.
- 7:05Speaker 2: You today, it's not going to work. And then he
- 7:06Speaker 2: has three doubles later in the game and he's still
- 7:08Speaker 2: sitting on the bench saying my swing's just not right,
- 7:11Speaker 2: and it's like, man, I wish my swing wasn't right.
- 7:13Speaker 2: I'd love three doubles today.
- 7:19Speaker 1: I have a unique holiday gift idea. It is called

- 8:19Speaker 5: But by the way, and then the best part about
- 8:21Speaker 5: Freddy is he'd be like, oh, I can't wait to
- 8:22Speaker 5: go home and see fred his dad and he's like, oh,
- 8:26Speaker 5: get me right, And you're like, Freddy, you're hitting three
- 8:28Speaker 5: thirty with thirty and one hundred and it's June. Oh yeah,
- 8:31Speaker 5: I can't wait to see what happens when your dad
- 8:33Speaker 5: sees you, because then you're what else can you do?
- 8:36Speaker 5: I used to love that because I played with Freddy,
- 8:37Speaker 5: you know, a long time ago, and he'd get three hits.
- 8:39Speaker 4: He'd be like, gosh, I had a bad night.
- 8:41Speaker 5: I'm like, Freddy, you had three hits, dude, Like, what
- 8:44Speaker 5: can you possibly complain about?
- 8:46Speaker 2: Exactly? But you know that that's just how he operates
- 8:48Speaker 2: and that's what makes him so good. And you know,
- 8:51Speaker 2: Mooki's a little bit of the same way, where you know,
- 8:54Speaker 2: the whole Mookie's whole work day. He'll sit there and
- 8:56Speaker 2: say that something's not working in a swing, and then
- 8:58Speaker 2: he goes out there and you know, he's hitting rockets
- 9:00Speaker 2: all over the field. And you know there's certain guys
- 9:03Speaker 2: that that's just how they operate. And then I've seen
- 9:05Speaker 2: the complete opposite side of that, where you know a
- 9:08Speaker 2: guy will take five swings and go, yep, I'm good,
- 9:10Speaker 2: and then he goes out there and he has three
- 9:11Speaker 2: hits and it's you know, everyone's different in how they work.
- 9:15Speaker 4: Maax, hold on, I got someone that wants to talk
- 9:17Speaker 4: to you. Hold on, Sit down, sit down. Do you
- 9:19Speaker 4: know do you remember guy any brad Hand. Yeah, so
- 9:23Speaker 4: he said that he owned you.
- 9:24Speaker 5: So I just just tell him, tell him whatever you
- 9:28Speaker 5: want to tell him.
- 9:29Speaker 2: And so that I mean, I'm sure he did. But
- 9:30Speaker 2: I know for a fact there was a maybe a
- 9:34Speaker 2: two run double in Washington off him, So you know,
- 9:36Speaker 2: he there might be like ten other strikeouts in there,
- 9:38Speaker 2: but there was a two run double off them.
- 9:41Speaker 4: You got to sit on the slider.
- 9:44Speaker 2: The problem is I was waiting for the heater to come. No, no,
- 9:48Speaker 2: I never I didn't wait for the heater off you.
- 9:50Speaker 2: I was trying to get that slider that started at
- 9:52Speaker 2: my face and try to find a way to stay
- 9:54Speaker 2: in there on it. No doubt, smart man, he.
- 9:57Speaker 5: Said, he said, you weren't easier out than who is
- 10:00Speaker 5: anybody you?
- 10:01Speaker 4: Oh, I mean, comparing us is like not even fair.
- 10:05Speaker 2: But he told me.
- 10:06Speaker 5: We were playing golf today and he goes, Max Muncey
- 10:08Speaker 5: was a tough route than Corey Seeger.
- 10:10Speaker 4: Yeah, which, I think that's a pretty good compliment that man.
- 10:14Speaker 2: I'll take it. You know. My My whole goal off
- 10:17Speaker 2: guys like him is hopefully he's gonna throw enough pitches
- 10:21Speaker 2: that I don't swing at that I'm gonna walk and
- 10:23Speaker 2: then the guy behind me can do the damage. Or
- 10:26Speaker 2: I might just get that one slider like I said,
- 10:27Speaker 2: that just starts in the right spot and I can
- 10:29Speaker 2: do some damage on it. Yeah, no doubt.
- 10:33Speaker 6: I mean, you gotta you gotta pick your spots.
- 10:36Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, you know, when you get the tough
- 10:38Speaker 2: lefties in the pen, you hope you get him to
- 10:40Speaker 2: throw enough pitches that they can't throw it again the
- 10:42Speaker 2: next day. Yeah, for sure.
- 10:45Speaker 6: I mean I thought I faced you a lot more
- 10:47Speaker 6: times than three times being in That was three times,
- 10:54Speaker 6: one for.
- 10:55Speaker 4: Three, two punch he's a double a walk in RBI.
- 10:58Speaker 4: So who wins that night?
- 10:59Speaker 5: If you're one for three of the double and two
- 11:01Speaker 5: punches in a walk, who wins?
- 11:03Speaker 2: Look, you're you're supposed to strake me out, So when
- 11:05Speaker 2: I get that hit, I win.
- 11:10Speaker 6: I would say you win that. That's a win for you.
- 11:14Speaker 2: That's one for three, that's over three hundred. I'll take it.
- 11:18Speaker 1: Yeah, exactly. Well thanks, thanks for the stop by Brad.
- 11:22Speaker 2: Good to see you. Thanks. He just pulled me in there. Sorry. Sorry,
- 11:26Speaker 2: that is what he does. That is what he does.
- 11:30Speaker 1: Exactly love it while AJ gets his ears back.
- 11:33Speaker 2: Max. Question for you.
- 11:34Speaker 1: I mean, the off season is young, but we've seen
- 11:38Speaker 1: some pitchers sign some big money deals and uh, you know,
- 11:41Speaker 1: Sorrus Online was talking about how it's funny that so
- 11:44Speaker 1: many four plus e r RA guys from this past
- 11:47Speaker 1: season are getting big money. He's saying it sarcastically because
- 11:49Speaker 1: he's like, teams don't look at ERA the way that
- 11:52Speaker 1: most people do. And there are other stats like that,
- 11:55Speaker 1: of course that are easy to use for the casual
- 11:58Speaker 1: fan or just for our game in general. But what
- 12:00Speaker 1: are your thoughts on what you observe that's most important
- 12:03Speaker 1: not just to you, but to teams when they're evaluating
- 12:06Speaker 1: hitters and pitchers these days.
- 12:08Speaker 2: You know, Uh, ERA is such a tough stat for me. Obviously,
- 12:14Speaker 2: you want that guy that's got the super lower RA,
- 12:16Speaker 2: especially as like as a starting pitcher. I feel like
- 12:18Speaker 2: you could look at ERA a little bit, maybe not
- 12:20Speaker 2: so much as a reliever, because you know, as a
- 12:23Speaker 2: reliever you just don't get enough innings throughout the course
- 12:25Speaker 2: of a year. If you have one really bad outing,
- 12:28Speaker 2: that just sets your RA back for you know, the
- 12:30Speaker 2: whole season pretty much. You know, I've seen guys who
- 12:34Speaker 2: have a four r A and then you look at
- 12:35Speaker 2: their numbers and it's like they haven't given up a
- 12:37Speaker 2: run in the last thirty games. They just had one
- 12:39Speaker 2: game where they gave up six runs and it just
- 12:41Speaker 2: ruined their RA. And it's so for me, the relievers,
- 12:45Speaker 2: you don't you can't necessarily take into account the RA.
- 12:47Speaker 2: There's just not enough like bulk innings to where if
- 12:49Speaker 2: they have one, you know, bad outing, it kind of
- 12:52Speaker 2: ruins it. But as a starter, you know, you'd obviously
- 12:55Speaker 2: want a guy with a lower RA and then that
- 12:58Speaker 2: that's also where it's because you have to look at
- 13:00Speaker 2: the when is that era coming into you know, coming
- 13:03Speaker 2: into account. Is it is it the fifth inning? On
- 13:06Speaker 2: is it the first inning? You know, if you if
- 13:09Speaker 2: you can give me five good innings as a starter,
- 13:11Speaker 2: that's that's that's really good. Obviously you'd love to have
- 13:13Speaker 2: six or seven. Makes it easier on your bullpen. But
- 13:17Speaker 2: if you have a guy that can give you five
- 13:18Speaker 2: clean innings every single time out and then the sixth
- 13:20Speaker 2: and seven starts getting a little squarely, it's you know,
- 13:22Speaker 2: that's that's a little different to me.
- 13:26Speaker 4: All right, your option? Your option?
- 13:28Speaker 2: Good? What do you mean?
- 13:32Speaker 5: I don't know, Scott sat we got picked up?
- 13:37Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, like that was like that was like a
- 13:40Speaker 2: month ago.
- 13:41Speaker 4: Well we haven't spoken since, so I spoke.
- 13:43Speaker 1: Right after the World Series, so we just got to
- 13:45Speaker 1: officially congratulate and also, yeah, give us the juicy details.
- 13:49Speaker 1: Is it like a five second phone caller.
- 13:52Speaker 4: Brandon go agent call you?
- 13:55Speaker 2: You want to know what it actually was? It was
- 13:57Speaker 2: an email?
- 14:00Speaker 5: Oh no, boy, they emailed you and say congratulations back
- 14:03Speaker 5: you're a Dodger again.
- 14:05Speaker 2: I mean, I think it's one of those things where
- 14:07Speaker 2: like we all knew it was getting picked up, and
- 14:08Speaker 2: so my agent calls me and he's like, hey, they
- 14:10Speaker 2: picked up the option. Here's the email they sent and
- 14:13Speaker 2: he just forwarded it over and it was you know,
- 14:15Speaker 2: I was like, okay, sweet, I'm back again. That's that's
- 14:17Speaker 2: what I wanted, you know, and we'll go from there.
- 14:21Speaker 2: But yeah, that's it. Wasn't one of those things where
- 14:23Speaker 2: it was like a coming down to the wire situation.
- 14:26Speaker 2: I think they had to make a couple moves, just
- 14:29Speaker 2: you know, with at the end of the season, everyone
- 14:31Speaker 2: has to come off the sixty day, and so they
- 14:33Speaker 2: had to figure out, you know, what moves they were
- 14:36Speaker 2: doing there. I think that was the only reason it
- 14:39Speaker 2: took to the last day. But yeah, we had felt
- 14:42Speaker 2: pretty good it was gonna get picked up.
- 14:44Speaker 5: Were you like, there were sixty and forty when I
- 14:47Speaker 5: was in the lineup and without me we were barely
- 14:49Speaker 5: over five hundred? So can I get an extension? Did
- 14:52Speaker 5: you email that back to like was there like? Do
- 14:54Speaker 5: not reply? Because I'd have been like, I'm there were
- 14:56Speaker 5: sixteen forty when I was in the lineup, so let's
- 14:58Speaker 5: get another year.
- 14:59Speaker 4: Put on that option.
- 15:01Speaker 2: Well, you know, they they got they got some other
- 15:03Speaker 2: things that they're working on right now.
- 15:05Speaker 3: Do tail?
- 15:06Speaker 4: No, No, do tail? What do you mean what are
- 15:08Speaker 4: they working on?
- 15:08Speaker 2: I have no idea what they're working on. I'm just
- 15:10Speaker 2: saying they already got me, you know, for next year,
- 15:13Speaker 2: So I'm not if we wanted to discuss something like that,
- 15:16Speaker 2: that's that's not at the top of the page at
- 15:18Speaker 2: the moment.
- 15:20Speaker 3: Wait wait, wait, you're but you're the two year man.
- 15:23Speaker 3: You're you're always getting that two year extension extension. Doesn't
- 15:26Speaker 3: that normally happen? Like for somebody who never got any extensions?
- 15:30Speaker 3: Doesn't that normally happen when hey, you know what, we're
- 15:31Speaker 3: going to pick your option up, we'd love to actually
- 15:34Speaker 3: make it two years kind of like extend it back
- 15:37Speaker 3: out again or does that? Is that not when that
- 15:39Speaker 3: happens for you?
- 15:39Speaker 2: You know, I think that I think we've created such
- 15:44Speaker 2: a good relationship with with you know, Andrew and Brandon
- 15:47Speaker 2: and and Alex and all those guys over there, that
- 15:51Speaker 2: you know, there's just not really any rush to get
- 15:54Speaker 2: to that point, you know. And that's that's really how
- 15:57Speaker 2: it's always been with with me. Is you know, we'll
- 16:00Speaker 2: well we'll talk to them and say, hey, we'd love
- 16:01Speaker 2: to discuss something like this, and they'll they'll respond back
- 16:04Speaker 2: and say, yeah, let's discuss it later on in the year.
- 16:06Speaker 2: And you know, it's really how it's how it's always gone.
- 16:09Speaker 2: And so it's just, uh, you know, I don't know
- 16:12Speaker 2: what they have in the works with with who they're
- 16:14Speaker 2: looking at, you know, obviously I don't get I don't
- 16:17Speaker 2: get up. They don't send out like organizational updates on
- 16:20Speaker 2: what they're doing, you know. So I'm sure they're they're
- 16:23Speaker 2: looking at pieces that are out there and you know
- 16:25Speaker 2: who they might try to go after and all that stuff.
- 16:28Speaker 2: And then you know, once that's done, maybe we'll have discussion.
- 16:30Speaker 2: Maybe we won't, you know, I I honestly don't know.
- 16:35Speaker 2: I would love to clearly, but uh yeah, you know,
- 16:38Speaker 2: we just have to see see how things unfold.
- 16:41Speaker 3: Okay, So just to clarify for all the fans who
- 16:44Speaker 3: keep saying this is what, No, the Dodgers do not
- 16:46Speaker 3: call Max Munsey to see if he'll change positions for
- 16:49Speaker 3: Alex Bregman or a Kamoto or all that stuff. Max
- 16:54Speaker 3: Mounsey is just ready to start playing as a Dodger.
- 16:57Speaker 3: But you do want another starting pitcher, and Tatsuya Mai
- 17:03Speaker 3: has come out and said he would love to take
- 17:06Speaker 3: the Dodgers down. When you hear that from somebody who
- 17:10Speaker 3: is probably one of the best starting pitchers available, does
- 17:14Speaker 3: that mean does that give you like a little bit
- 17:15Speaker 3: of like a like a peacock strut where you're like, yeah,
- 17:19Speaker 3: I hope, I hope he wants to, but then you
- 17:22Speaker 3: also hope he signs with the Giants, right.
- 17:25Speaker 2: I mean, to be honest, it's no different than any
- 17:27Speaker 2: other starting pitcher out there where they all want to
- 17:29Speaker 2: take us down. So it's you know, I haven't looked
- 17:32Speaker 2: into this guy at all. I don't know what his
- 17:34Speaker 2: stuff is, and I'm sure he's amazing, as we've seen
- 17:38Speaker 2: a lot of the Japanese pictures that have come over
- 17:40Speaker 2: have been extremely good. You know, you look at the
- 17:42Speaker 2: guys on our staff, so I'm sure he's very, very
- 17:45Speaker 2: talented and very good. I haven't looked into him. But again,
- 17:48Speaker 2: I mean, every picture that's not on our team is
- 17:51Speaker 2: saying the same thing. They want to take us down.
- 17:52Speaker 2: They want to be the one to beat us, and
- 17:55Speaker 2: you know, it's just that's what makes it fun to
- 17:57Speaker 2: go out there and play for the Dodgers. You're gonna
- 17:59Speaker 2: get everyone's best every single night. KP.
- 18:04Speaker 1: The website is Chubbishorts dot com. The brand is Chubbies,
- 18:08Speaker 1: but it's not just shorts.
- 18:10Speaker 7: Yeah, don't be fooled by the website's name. This is
- 18:13Speaker 7: a one stop shop for all things that I love,
- 18:16Speaker 7: swimming trunks, golf, polos, and even flannels. It fits me perfectly.
- 18:21Speaker 7: One stop shop is the place to go.
- 18:23Speaker 1: Yes, Sir KP, I've been wearing their flannel overshirt. It's
- 18:26Speaker 1: like my favorite flannel and your softest sweater having a
- 18:30Speaker 1: little baby. It's the best of both worlds. Classic flannel
- 18:32Speaker 1: look with the warmth of a fleece. And we know
- 18:35Speaker 1: it's that time of year to pull that off. The
- 18:37Speaker 1: Chubbies flannel overshirt. It feels like your favorite flannel, but
- 18:41Speaker 1: with the warmth of a cozy sweater. And for a

- 18:57Speaker 1: Just head to chubbies shorts dot com and make sure
- 19:00Speaker 1: to support the show by telling them that Foul Territory
- 19:03Speaker 1: sent you.
- 19:04Speaker 4: Okay, so then I'll finish the headline Max months.
- 19:06Speaker 5: He said, when Am signs with the Giants and he
- 19:09Speaker 5: hits one in the cove, He's gonna tell him to
- 19:11Speaker 5: go get the ball out of the water.
- 19:12Speaker 4: True or false?
- 19:15Speaker 2: False?
- 19:19Speaker 4: Because I mean you got a little trash talking.
- 19:23Speaker 5: I mean, come on, you guys are the two time
- 19:25Speaker 5: defending champs, like take you down?
- 19:29Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean if I was gonna tell him that,
- 19:30Speaker 2: I probably have to learn, you know, how to say
- 19:32Speaker 2: it in the language you have.
- 19:34Speaker 4: Show hey, you have Soazaki and you have Yamamoto. All
- 19:37Speaker 4: three can tell you how to say it.
- 19:39Speaker 2: Yeah. That's also going to depend on you know, if
- 19:41Speaker 2: it's the eleven thirty star and he's he's a little grumpy,
- 19:46Speaker 2: you know it's.
- 19:49Speaker 4: That.
- 19:49Speaker 2: That's how it's all gonna depend Okay, So then.
- 19:52Speaker 5: Let's go to one of your teammates, Show hey, announced
- 19:54Speaker 5: he's he's playing for Japan and the WBC. If you
- 19:58Speaker 5: are asked to play for USA and it comes down
- 20:00Speaker 5: to you the mike trout about against Shohy or Yamamoto
- 20:04Speaker 5: or Suzaki and you take them deep to win the game,
- 20:07Speaker 5: are you talking trash as you run around the bases,
- 20:10Speaker 5: or are you like, I am so sorry because we
- 20:12Speaker 5: need you for the one hundred and sixty two.
- 20:15Speaker 2: In that moment, I'm celebrating with the team. And however
- 20:18Speaker 2: that celebration comes out, it's gonna come out. I can't
- 20:21Speaker 2: tell you how that would happen. I will tell you
- 20:23Speaker 2: that if that did happen throughout the course of the
- 20:26Speaker 2: entire season, you know, I would just throw a little
- 20:29Speaker 2: jabs here and there, you know, just hey, good morning.
- 20:32Speaker 2: Remember when I took you deep to win? Yeah, I
- 20:34Speaker 2: do too, and just walk away. You don't got to
- 20:37Speaker 2: make it long. You just throw little jabs here and there.
- 20:39Speaker 2: You know, That's probably how I would do that one.
- 20:42Speaker 3: All right. We have producer lady who checks you in
- 20:45Speaker 3: every time you come on the show. She has a
- 20:48Speaker 3: theory which I don't disagree with. Show Hey enjoys a
- 20:53Speaker 3: little bit of trolling, just a little bit. Like when
- 20:56Speaker 3: he won his MVP, he kissed his dog and not
- 20:59Speaker 3: his wife. And he when he said thank you to
- 21:01Speaker 3: the fans, he made his like thank you fans. Make
- 21:05Speaker 3: it look like show like. Some people on social media
- 21:08Speaker 3: were like, show Hey, retiring, what's going on? Does he like?
- 21:12Speaker 3: Does he like little jokes and barbs more than you
- 21:15Speaker 3: know the stoic exterior. Oh and also he did the uh.
- 21:19Speaker 3: He did the Lord he's gouriel like. He kind of
- 21:21Speaker 3: trolled him after he hit the home run in UH
- 21:24Speaker 3: to put you guys ahead in Arizona the one time earlier.
- 21:26Speaker 2: This year, too. Yeah, I will say Show is a
- 21:30Speaker 2: very funny guy, so there might be a little bit
- 21:33Speaker 2: of that in there. I you know, I'm not entirely sure.
- 21:35Speaker 2: He is a very funny guy, though, And uh that's
- 21:38Speaker 2: something that that's something that you know a lot of
- 21:41Speaker 2: people don't know about him, is he's really funny. He's
- 21:44Speaker 2: he just loves having fun. He loves to show up
- 21:46Speaker 2: to the field and he's got a great personality. Uh,
- 21:50Speaker 2: he just he just likes to have fun. He loves
- 21:52Speaker 2: to smile on the clubhofs And you know, I know
- 21:54Speaker 2: a lot of people don't always see that out on
- 21:56Speaker 2: the field, but that that's that's who he is. He's
- 21:58Speaker 2: just a great person that loves having fun.
- 22:01Speaker 1: Yeah, we're we're seeing more and more of it, even
- 22:03Speaker 1: though we can't hear much when wait watch him in
- 22:05Speaker 1: the playoffs. I mean that's why for years, sorry, like
- 22:08Speaker 1: it sucked to not have Show in the playoffs. Now
- 22:10Speaker 1: the whole world gets to watch him and I don't know,
- 22:12Speaker 1: just his mannerisms, they're good.
- 22:14Speaker 5: What do you got aj But before we let him
- 22:16Speaker 5: go out, we got it? Have we asked him about
- 22:18Speaker 5: Kirby itge tattoo? Were you there when he got it done.
- 22:22Speaker 5: Were you there.
- 22:22Speaker 4: Because he did it? I mean he really went he
- 22:24Speaker 4: really went for it.
- 22:26Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean I was. We were all there.
- 22:30Speaker 5: You were like when the needle was in the rear
- 22:32Speaker 5: and he was getting it done, you were all sitting there.
- 22:36Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean it was. Uh. Well, so MOOKI had
- 22:39Speaker 2: the party at his house, and.
- 22:41Speaker 5: MOOKI had tell me about tell me MOOKI had a
- 22:43Speaker 5: tattoo or to show up at his house and do
- 22:45Speaker 5: it in front of everybody, because I'll be I'll be
- 22:47Speaker 5: way better than Freddy trying to do the I don't
- 22:49Speaker 5: want to do the worm, but I'm gonna do the
- 22:50Speaker 5: worm again.
- 22:53Speaker 2: There was a tattoo artist at Mookie's party.
- 22:55Speaker 5: Yes, yes, yes, I.
- 23:00Speaker 2: Don't I don't know why he. I don't know. I
- 23:04Speaker 2: don't know if MOOKI made sure there was a guy there,
- 23:06Speaker 2: because these guys were talking about it when they were
- 23:08Speaker 2: saying when we won the World Series, we're gonna get
- 23:10Speaker 2: these tattoos and uh you know, so I don't know
- 23:12Speaker 2: if MOOKI was making sure that they were there to
- 23:14Speaker 2: be like, hey, you guys got to hold shoe on
- 23:16Speaker 2: your promise. But uh yeah, they got it done and
- 23:19Speaker 2: we were all there to see it epic. Did anyone
- 23:22Speaker 2: else get tattoos?
- 23:23Speaker 1: Or they just had a guy there for Kirby?
- 23:26Speaker 2: There was there was more tattoos.
- 23:28Speaker 1: Yes, okay, do you have any tattoos?
- 23:32Speaker 2: Do you have any No? I don't have any tattoos.
- 23:34Speaker 2: I can't do needles, so I can't do that.
- 23:37Speaker 4: Okay, did you see where was Freddy? Where did Freddy
- 23:40Speaker 4: do his second worm? He did it at the part.
- 23:43Speaker 2: That was like Gavin looks his wedding.
- 23:46Speaker 4: Were you at the wedding?
- 23:48Speaker 2: No? I was not at the wedding. My uh my wife,
- 23:50Speaker 2: one of her best friends was getting married at the
- 23:52Speaker 2: same time, and so we we were always going to
- 23:54Speaker 2: that one. First, you know, we told LuxI, Hey, sorry, Bud,
- 23:58Speaker 2: but uh uh, this is one of my wife's time friends.
- 24:00Speaker 2: So we were we were going to be at that one.
- 24:03Speaker 5: Okay, because I just wanted to know, like, were you
- 24:04Speaker 5: pushing Freddy to do the worm? Because remember the first
- 24:07Speaker 5: time he did it and the second time he's like, oh, no,
- 24:09Speaker 5: I don't really know if you guys must make me.
- 24:12Speaker 2: Oh, you know, I think I think with that it
- 24:16Speaker 2: depends on how much fun Freddy's been having at the party.
- 24:20Speaker 2: True Okay, it was It was a wedding, so it
- 24:23Speaker 2: was a wedding, so I'm sure he was having a
- 24:25Speaker 2: great time.
- 24:27Speaker 3: Are you a good gift giver? Like, do you have
- 24:28Speaker 3: a certain gift that you give at a wedding? Because
- 24:33Speaker 3: I mean, I feel like if you get, if you
- 24:34Speaker 3: know you have this like aura about you as a
- 24:37Speaker 3: big leaguer World Series champion, you got to be a
- 24:40Speaker 3: good gift giver.
- 24:42Speaker 2: You know what's great about weddings is they have this
- 24:44Speaker 2: thing called the wedding registry and you can just find
- 24:47Speaker 2: out what they really want.
- 24:48Speaker 4: Unless you go on Scott's.
- 24:50Speaker 5: Unless you go on Scott's and then it's like super
- 24:52Speaker 5: awkward because his isn't his doesn't make any sense. It's
- 24:55Speaker 5: like cash for a rave, cash for other things at
- 24:59Speaker 5: a rave that's purple sunglasses. Like, that's not a normal
- 25:03Speaker 5: wedding registry.
- 25:05Speaker 2: That's that's what he wanted. That's probably what he would get.
- 25:08Speaker 1: Then exactly what because because you don't like collecting random
- 25:12Speaker 1: dishes that nobody uses in a living room or something
- 25:14Speaker 1: like that, Sorry about it doesn't make any sense.
- 25:17Speaker 2: I'll tell you what those random business come in handy
- 25:20Speaker 2: for the holidays.
- 25:22Speaker 1: Yeah, or if you want to put your world series
- 25:23Speaker 1: title over him. But also, I mean last thing. I
- 25:26Speaker 1: always get yelled at for having too much stuff in
- 25:28Speaker 1: the studio with AJ, and then he wants me to
- 25:29Speaker 1: put things on a registry. It's like, uh, what do
- 25:32Speaker 1: you want? You want me to collect stuff or get
- 25:34Speaker 1: ridden of stuff? I can't do both.
- 25:37Speaker 4: Anyway.
- 25:38Speaker 8: You Yeah, yeah, you can't collect see in your in
- 25:43Speaker 8: your situation, what you do is collect collect the most
- 25:46Speaker 8: stuff that would annoy AJ, and then that's what that's
- 25:49Speaker 8: what you go with.
- 25:50Speaker 1: Okay, that is my new idea and ft registries.
- 25:55Speaker 5: I have a room full of ship from Scott that
- 25:57Speaker 5: I he will not get rid of. Like he has
- 26:00Speaker 5: like he has like a like a r the most
- 26:03Speaker 5: random two thousands Mets player bibblehead, like name the most
- 26:07Speaker 5: random Mets two thousands.
- 26:09Speaker 3: He's got six.
- 26:11Speaker 5: Yeah, he's got six of them sitting in my room.
- 26:13Speaker 5: And I'm like, Scott, sounds that.
- 26:15Speaker 2: Sounds like you're just mad that none of them are yours.
- 26:17Speaker 4: Then I got plenty of my own.
- 26:19Speaker 2: I got plenty of Max. You'll see one day, one day.
- 26:23Speaker 1: Long from now, you'll be in like the digital space
- 26:25Speaker 1: podcast world doing a show and they send you all
- 26:28Speaker 1: kinds of stuff, and AJ doesn't want to keep half
- 26:31Speaker 1: of it, so you'll be able to give it out
- 26:32Speaker 1: to your friends.
- 26:33Speaker 2: But it's it's not perfect. I'm I'm put a block
- 26:36Speaker 2: on AJ's name to not have gifts show up to
- 26:38Speaker 2: my house. Seriously, that's the act. I don't know what
- 26:44Speaker 2: he's going to be sending me.
- 26:46Speaker 4: Trust me, I get random. But okay, I know we
- 26:49Speaker 4: got to go. But have you ever gotten random stuff
- 26:51Speaker 4: sent you in the mail?
- 26:52Speaker 5: Because I get like once a year I'll get something
- 26:54Speaker 5: random and I don't know who it's from. So it's
- 26:56Speaker 5: happened to me the last four years where like somebody
- 26:59Speaker 5: will just send me something and they don't sign it,
- 27:02Speaker 5: and they're not like things you want to display. They're
- 27:04Speaker 5: like the things you would get at Spencer Gifts for
- 27:07Speaker 5: people that remember Spencer Gifts, Like I mean, I remember
- 27:10Speaker 5: the ball the ball thing Scott I had, like someone
- 27:13Speaker 5: sent it to me I didn't know who was from.
- 27:15Speaker 5: One year, I got a chocolate chocolate a chocolate giant
- 27:21Speaker 5: male organ.
- 27:22Speaker 1: Right when he says ultimately too, he means like Justin Turner.
- 27:27Speaker 5: Yes, the Justin Turner thing that he has that's just
- 27:29Speaker 5: a randomly in the mail, like, yes.
- 27:31Speaker 4: And I don't know who sent it to me. And
- 27:33Speaker 4: then a couple of years ago, I got like a.
- 27:34Speaker 5: Chocolate one of those things I don't know and they
- 27:37Speaker 5: don't sign it, and then I have to play the
- 27:39Speaker 5: guessing game.
- 27:39Speaker 4: Oh who sent this to me? Said, I'm texting people
- 27:41Speaker 4: like did you do this?
- 27:43Speaker 2: And then when you.
- 27:43Speaker 4: Finally figured it out years later, like you finally figured
- 27:46Speaker 4: it out?
- 27:47Speaker 2: Yeah, it's a joke. That's the whole point of it.
- 27:49Speaker 2: You don't need to know who it's from.
- 27:51Speaker 1: Exactly you're getting. You're getting random magic gifts, all right, Max.
- 27:56Speaker 1: On that note, Good to see you enjoy wedding season,
- 28:01Speaker 1: the holidays, the whole thing. Congrats on the option being
- 28:03Speaker 1: picked back up. Great to see you man appreciate it.
- 28:06Speaker 2: Yeah, thanks for having me on. Guys.
- 28:07Speaker 1: As always, Hey, we can get into this a little bit.
- 28:11Speaker 1: We're supposed to talk to f P Santangele. If we
- 28:13Speaker 1: don't today, we'll get them on a different day. But
- 28:15Speaker 1: the giants for the NL pennant right now are plus
- 28:18Speaker 1: two thousand and twenty to one. It's still crazy when
- 28:21Speaker 1: you see this, because I'm pretty sure that heading into
- 28:23Speaker 1: this season or this past season, that Blue Jays were
- 28:26Speaker 1: I think plus six thousand. Does that sound right, Kratz.
- 28:31Speaker 3: I don't know how. I didn't remember seeing it.
- 28:33Speaker 1: They were sixty to one. But anyway, for the Giants,
- 28:35Speaker 1: they're twenty to one odds right now to win the
- 28:37Speaker 1: National League. And yet we're gonna get FP on a
- 28:39Speaker 1: different day this week. We're going to reschedule with him.
- 28:41Speaker 1: He's overseas. Yeah, I know you don't like it.
- 28:43Speaker 2: AJ.
- 28:44Speaker 1: We'll talk about this report with FP when we get
- 28:47Speaker 1: him on at some point this week. But I'm still
- 28:49Speaker 1: shocked at the story here about the Giants not really
- 28:55Speaker 1: interested in playing in the big kids pool that much
- 28:57Speaker 1: this season because they feel like they already did that
- 29:00Speaker 1: with Adamis and with Devers. I mean, they are not
- 29:05Speaker 1: a help signing or two away. Don't they need more.
- 29:07Speaker 2: Help than that?
- 29:08Speaker 5: Yes, they needmore. Okay, Bailey had a down year. Some
- 29:13Speaker 5: of the other guys that were counting on a down
- 29:14Speaker 5: yere they're going to need somebody to step up. I
- 29:19Speaker 5: mean Chapman wasn't great for him, A Damas ended up
- 29:22Speaker 5: where he was where he's been about his whole career.
- 29:25Speaker 5: I mean, Logan Webb has been really good for him,
- 29:27Speaker 5: Robbie Rady. They have pitching, they can figure out their bullpen,
- 29:30Speaker 5: but they need people to take the next step. Is
- 29:32Speaker 5: Eldridge the guy? Do they think Bryce Eldridge is the guy?
- 29:35Speaker 2: Maybe?
- 29:36Speaker 1: Yeah, they hope so, But I mean, I think it's
- 29:39Speaker 1: a pretty big problem for the Giants that, you know,
- 29:45Speaker 1: they're not necessarily going to do much in terms of
- 29:47Speaker 1: spending this offseason. So the article in the Athletics says
- 29:51Speaker 1: that they could lavish sixty million on the twenty twenty
- 29:53Speaker 1: six roster and still reside comfortably beneath the initial that
- 29:58Speaker 1: first tax threshold, that firstle light salary cap marker of
- 30:02Speaker 1: two hundred and forty four million bucks. But their cash
- 30:05Speaker 1: payroll cash basis payroll commitments include seventeen million in deferred
- 30:10Speaker 1: signing bonus money owed to Blake Snell in January. I'm like,
- 30:13Speaker 1: whatever that that to me? I get it, it's on
- 30:15Speaker 1: your books right now, but like, that's what we're blaming
- 30:18Speaker 1: for this shit. And then they also said that they're
- 30:20Speaker 1: spending ten and a half million dollars on the manager
- 30:23Speaker 1: position next season because you have the Bob Melvin four
- 30:26Speaker 1: million dollar I guess essentially buy out plus the three
- 30:30Speaker 1: million buyout they paid for Tony Battello. Crime me a
- 30:33Speaker 1: fucking river, Like, that's what we're worried about here?
- 30:37Speaker 4: Wait, what did I Tello get? How much did I
- 30:39Speaker 4: Tello get?
- 30:40Speaker 1: Like three and a half ish? But they had to
- 30:41Speaker 1: do the buyout for him to get out of Tennessee
- 30:43Speaker 1: for three I guess Come on, bro, that's what you're
- 30:47Speaker 1: worried about here.
- 30:48Speaker 2: You're the Giants.
- 30:50Speaker 4: If you ever been to a Giants king, they sell
- 30:52Speaker 4: out every game crowds. Did you play? I played for
- 30:54Speaker 4: the Giants? You played for the Giants?
- 30:56Speaker 5: Like when they're good, they're the greatest, And they have
- 30:59Speaker 5: uh Kype and Kruko as their freaking announcers and everyone
- 31:03Speaker 5: tunes into their games and.
- 31:05Speaker 4: Like don't what, don't tell me? Because the manager got fired,
- 31:09Speaker 4: they can't afford players, like.
- 31:10Speaker 1: Stop, attendance is up. Posey's done a good job. The
- 31:13Speaker 1: whole problem with them with the last regime was that
- 31:15Speaker 1: like nobody even knew who the guys were. Everything was
- 31:18Speaker 1: so vanilla. There wasn't star power. Posey, what makes two
- 31:21Speaker 1: moves and attendance skyrockets for them? Now you didn't see
- 31:25Speaker 1: great results on the field, You see okay results on
- 31:27Speaker 1: the field. But that's why, to me, the story was
- 31:30Speaker 1: so shocking, because you had little rumblings that the Giants
- 31:34Speaker 1: might be interested in a guy like Amai, and then
- 31:36Speaker 1: this story just absolutely shot it dead, like they are
- 31:39Speaker 1: not playing in those waters at all. And it also
- 31:42Speaker 1: went into how the Giants have made attempts to get
- 31:47Speaker 1: some recent Japanese stars and they've come up empty.
- 31:50Speaker 4: Right, they had Arson Judge. Though they had Arson Judge.
- 31:54Speaker 1: They did almost have that's true, almost have Arson Judge.
- 31:57Speaker 1: But they've gone over. These are some of the guys
- 32:00Speaker 1: that they've gone after in recent years. Not how hard
- 32:02Speaker 1: and how deep into the process, I don't know. But
- 32:04Speaker 1: Otani Yamamoto, could I sanga say Suzuki Roki Suzaki. Here's
- 32:09Speaker 1: the real stinger in the article, it's been over a
- 32:13Speaker 1: decade since the last born and raised Japanese player they employed,
- 32:16Speaker 1: left fielder Noriaoki in twenty fifteen, was on the team,
- 32:20Speaker 1: And embarrassingly, it's been much longer since a Japanese player
- 32:23Speaker 1: spent multiple seasons in a Giant's uniform. It was left
- 32:27Speaker 1: hander Montassori Murakami. And you're like, wait, why don't I
- 32:32Speaker 1: know that name? Because he was the pioneering reliever who
- 32:36Speaker 1: became the first Japanese Major leaguer when he pitched for
- 32:39Speaker 1: the team in nineteen sixty four.
- 32:42Speaker 4: Sixty four, Shinjo didn't have Shinjo.
- 32:46Speaker 1: For one season. Probably they said multiple years, multiple years.
- 32:50Speaker 1: They haven't had someone since the sixties. It's it's kind
- 32:53Speaker 1: of surprising, right, Like you talk about how the Japanese
- 32:56Speaker 1: players want to be on the West coast, low coast,
- 32:58Speaker 1: or to home whatever. Seattle at one point was a hotbed.
- 33:00Speaker 1: Now the Dodgers are a hotbed. The fact that the
- 33:02Speaker 1: Giants haven't been able to create that and this, in
- 33:05Speaker 1: my mind, AJ is the off season to strike. This
- 33:08Speaker 1: is the off season to do this.
- 33:09Speaker 4: You've got the Dodgers, go sign him. He just said
- 33:15Speaker 4: he wants to kill the Dodgers.
- 33:18Speaker 1: That should be your dream player, like they must they
- 33:21Speaker 1: must be. I mean there's two things scrats. Either they're
- 33:25Speaker 1: internal metrics don't like him, which I find hard to believe,
- 33:29Speaker 1: or they're getting orders that they've already done their heavy
- 33:32Speaker 1: damage and they can't dip in those waters, am I.
- 33:34Speaker 1: It's gonna cost a lot of money, There's no doubt
- 33:36Speaker 1: about that. He's probably gonna be two to two fifty
- 33:40Speaker 1: something like that.
- 33:42Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 33:43Speaker 3: Just don't just don't come out and say this if
- 33:45Speaker 3: you're because the fact that the fans are starting to
- 33:48Speaker 3: come out like that's a it's kind of a slap
- 33:50Speaker 3: in the face. So to me, if you're not going
- 33:53Speaker 3: to dip into those waters, you're not gonna go and
- 33:55Speaker 3: get that guy. It's tough to get that guy on
- 33:58Speaker 3: the offense in San Francisco that's going to push you
- 34:01Speaker 3: over the line. So you might as well get that
- 34:03Speaker 3: guy on the mound that's gonna push you over the line.
- 34:06Speaker 3: Get you to where your fans are coming out because
- 34:11Speaker 3: they know they're not watching Buster posey on the field.
- 34:13Speaker 3: They're out there. They're out there supporting their team like
- 34:16Speaker 3: they want to be out supporting a team. They don't
- 34:19Speaker 3: want to come out to a five hundred team. Because essentially,
- 34:22Speaker 3: right now, without any upgrades, you're telling your fan base,
- 34:26Speaker 3: we're fine, we just need to see the players that
- 34:30Speaker 3: we have, like, just do better and then we'll make
- 34:33Speaker 3: the playoffs. No, you push it over the line with
- 34:36Speaker 3: another signing like look like you saved money. You saved money.
- 34:42Speaker 3: The last regime did a good job of just doing
- 34:45Speaker 3: one year deals and trying to piecemeal your platoon group
- 34:49Speaker 3: together like it was boring baseball. So they were saved
- 34:52Speaker 3: money there, don't give me the like like that's not
- 34:55Speaker 3: even part of your that's not even on your payroll.
- 34:57Speaker 3: I get it. You have to pay that money to
- 34:58Speaker 3: Blake Snell, to Bob Melvin, like, but this fans are
- 35:04Speaker 3: coming out because they want to see a winner. You
- 35:06Speaker 3: made the moves last year, you hoped what would happen
- 35:09Speaker 3: this year or this past year didn't now push it
- 35:12Speaker 3: over the line. And I think a signing like am
- 35:15Speaker 3: I would do that based on what I've seen of him.
- 35:19Speaker 1: And you know can alluded to this too. It's been
- 35:21Speaker 1: kind of a weird offseason and this story makes a
- 35:23Speaker 1: lot weirder for the Giants. The one other factor in
- 35:25Speaker 1: play here there's some speculation that Buster Posey doesn't necessarily
- 35:32Speaker 1: want to sign Scott Boris' clients. Buster, you're going to
- 35:37Speaker 1: have to engage with every agent. Now, wait, there's more
- 35:41Speaker 1: to this. Okay, there's two things in here. One is,
- 35:44Speaker 1: you know this story talks about how like Buster is
- 35:46Speaker 1: like pretty adamant that he doesn't like opt outs and
- 35:50Speaker 1: a lot of Boris clients have opt outs. I mean,
- 35:52Speaker 1: plenty of other players have opt outs too, But okay,
- 35:54Speaker 1: and then the other part, here is someone who's been
- 35:56Speaker 1: on our show before and he won't come on anymore
- 35:58Speaker 1: because now he works for the team again and calling
- 36:00Speaker 1: him out. But it's true Jeff Barry who used to
- 36:03Speaker 1: be an agent, and that was whatever a guy who
- 36:06Speaker 1: was a rival of him. So I'm like, you know,
- 36:08Speaker 1: the Giants have signed two players that were with Jeff
- 36:11Speaker 1: Barry's old agency. There's always those kind of games going on,
- 36:14Speaker 1: you know about that stuff, Kratz. Some people love this guy,
- 36:16Speaker 1: they don't love this guy, and they try and make
- 36:19Speaker 1: deals to make that happen. Like, you can't just sidestep
- 36:25Speaker 1: the agent that reps a ton of the big stars
- 36:27Speaker 1: in the sport. So I'm not necessarily buying that. But
- 36:31Speaker 1: the story did speculate there and say that Jeff is
- 36:33Speaker 1: an advisor in the team. So is that holding the
- 36:36Speaker 1: Giants back from some of the biggest players on the market.
- 36:39Speaker 3: Let's let's speculation. I want I want to hear I
- 36:42Speaker 3: want to hear it out of their their mouth, because are.
- 36:46Speaker 2: Not going to say that.
- 36:47Speaker 1: You can't say that, oh hey, we're going to skip
- 36:49Speaker 1: a lot of the best players on the market because
- 36:52Speaker 1: the advisor was with a different agency. Bet MGM players
- 36:56Speaker 1: will receive in any sport parlay boost token and use
- 36:59Speaker 1: that at a parlay wager made of entirely any sport
- 37:01Speaker 1: wagers to your betslip activate the token. If you win
- 37:04Speaker 1: your wager made with the token, you get extra winnings.
- 37:06Speaker 1: It's that simple, betamjam dot com or the app gambling
- 37:09Speaker 1: problem or concern called one eight hundred gambler
