- 1:27Speaker 1: we are joined by returning author Nicole S. Brown and
- 1:31Speaker 1: she's here to discuss her latest book, Yes, I'm Still
- 1:36Speaker 1: in Love with Him. Nicole is known for her captivating
- 1:39Speaker 1: works including Wet Dreams, Wet a Dreams, and school Days,
- 1:44Speaker 1: Holidays and all the days that lie between. Say that
- 1:48Speaker 1: a couple of times and see how you feel. We'll
- 1:52Speaker 1: dive into her creative process, asks for what inspired her
- 1:55Speaker 1: newest release, and explore how her writing has involved over
- 2:00Speaker 1: the years. Nicole, how do you balance the vulnerability in
- 2:05Speaker 1: your stories with the bold things your reader's love? And
- 2:10Speaker 1: what's been the most challenging part of crafting your latest book.
- 2:16Speaker 2: The most challenging part about crafting the book is trying
- 2:20Speaker 2: to get it out in a certain length of time,
- 2:24Speaker 2: because I was also working online and I wanted it
- 2:32Speaker 2: out on specific days you know, that were meaningful to
- 2:37Speaker 2: have a certain meaning to meet. So that was hard
- 2:43Speaker 2: for me to get it out on a certain days.
- 2:46Speaker 2: And as far as the creator process. I really wrote
- 2:54Speaker 2: from my heart, you know how I was really feeling
- 2:57Speaker 2: about that particular situation.
- 3:02Speaker 1: Well, you know we're gonna talk about that particular situation
- 3:05Speaker 1: because this book is not a follow up. This book
- 3:09Speaker 1: is like a follow up to the follow up. I guess,
- 3:13Speaker 1: so been getting ready on engaging conversations. So stay tuned
- 3:17Speaker 1: and we're gonna dive in. We're gonna dive directly. We're
- 3:20Speaker 1: not gonna go through all that regular stuff that we
- 3:22Speaker 1: usually do. And I said, I've been so comfortable with Nicole.
- 3:25Speaker 1: She started just basically started my year. We started off
- 3:29Speaker 1: this year with Nicole doing a mini series. I don't
- 3:33Speaker 1: know how many of you seen a mini series, but
- 3:37Speaker 1: if you haven't, check it out because it's it'll explain
- 3:41Speaker 1: a lot about tonight's conversations. You know, I've been following you, Nicole,
- 3:46Speaker 1: tell me what inspite this title, Yes, I'm still in
- 3:49Speaker 1: love with your and I I got an idea, but
- 3:51Speaker 1: I'm gonna let you say it. Yes I'm still in
- 3:54Speaker 1: love with you.
- 3:56Speaker 2: Was hard. It was really been hard for me to
- 4:00Speaker 2: fall out of love with somebody, even though I'm not
- 4:02Speaker 2: with the person anymore, and I have I have a
- 4:07Speaker 2: little article in there saying how to stop loving someone,
- 4:12Speaker 2: and I'm just having a It was just the book
- 4:16Speaker 2: is about having a hard time even though I'm not
- 4:19Speaker 2: with the person anymore. You still have feelings.
- 4:25Speaker 1: You can't just turn your feelings off and onto. That's
- 4:28Speaker 1: that's for sure. But the last time we spoke, correct
- 4:32Speaker 1: me if I'm wrong, but you were more like adamant, No,
- 4:34Speaker 1: it is over, it's done. But you're saying that you're
- 4:37Speaker 1: stealing luck with him. What about him from the last
- 4:41Speaker 1: time we spoke makes you feel that you're still in
- 4:44Speaker 1: love with him, like it's just never stopped.
- 4:48Speaker 2: I don't think it ever stopped. I got mad at
- 4:51Speaker 2: a situation, mad in a lot of situations that I
- 4:55Speaker 2: never did tell that person about, and that took over
- 4:58Speaker 2: me because I was with the person for such a
- 5:01Speaker 2: long time and I never, you know, wanted to make
- 5:04Speaker 2: the person angry, and I just held in a lot
- 5:07Speaker 2: of stuff that that person did bad. And then it
- 5:10Speaker 2: just I just blew up on the person. But I
- 5:12Speaker 2: was still having the feelings.
- 5:18Speaker 1: So for this book, how did you develop the characters
- 5:20Speaker 1: in this book? Now I know again you're saying, yes,
- 5:23Speaker 1: I'm still in love with you. But are there other
- 5:25Speaker 1: characters added to this book? Are the people that you
- 5:28Speaker 1: incorporated into this book?
- 5:30Speaker 2: Well, it's just really talking about how I feel. So
- 5:35Speaker 2: it's more so mean than anything else, because I really
- 5:39Speaker 2: don't have a lot of other characters other than how
- 5:44Speaker 2: I felt about that person.
- 5:47Speaker 1: So it's not a person's journey, right, Okay? All right?
- 5:54Speaker 1: Were there themes or messages that you hope readers can
- 5:57Speaker 1: take away from this story?
- 6:00Speaker 2: Yeh? That maybe they could fall in love with somebody
- 6:05Speaker 2: all over again, or that they can put things aside
- 6:11Speaker 2: of the conflicts that they had and reconcile or just
- 6:16Speaker 2: even become friends with the person again.
- 6:21Speaker 1: Well, I'm going to say this, if you had to
- 6:27Speaker 1: do this all over again with the relationship with this person,
- 6:30Speaker 1: would you.
- 6:34Speaker 2: Yeah? And I would do much different than.
- 6:41Speaker 1: What would be so different?
- 6:44Speaker 2: Uh, I would let my feelings out more than I
- 6:50Speaker 2: did in the past.
- 6:54Speaker 1: So do you think that your feelings is what caused
- 6:57Speaker 1: this relationship to.
- 6:58Speaker 2: The mind.
- 7:01Speaker 1: Or do you think it was because of the type
- 7:04Speaker 1: of relationship it was.
- 7:06Speaker 2: I think it was because of the type of relationship
- 7:09Speaker 2: it was.
- 7:15Speaker 1: Wow. So can you share any of your favorite scenes
- 7:20Speaker 1: or moments from this book? Better yet? I'm gonna take
- 7:23Speaker 1: that back. Share one of your favorite moments with this person.
- 7:31Speaker 1: What's a favorite moment that you said?
- 7:35Speaker 2: Just hanging out, just hanging out, chilling out, being ourselves,
- 7:41Speaker 2: clown and having lunch, that kind of stuff.
- 7:46Speaker 1: So it sounds like you two had a prior relationship
- 7:51Speaker 1: then that relationship that you had, right babe.
- 7:59Speaker 2: Okay yea.
- 8:01Speaker 1: For those who again are just coming in or either
- 8:05Speaker 1: don't know this story, Nicole was involved in a relationship
- 8:11Speaker 1: that didn't end well, but it didn't begin very well either,
- 8:18Speaker 1: because there was another party to this relationship and from
- 8:22Speaker 1: what I feel see and heard from, this may have
- 8:27Speaker 1: been an innocent party, but may not have wound up
- 8:30Speaker 1: so innocent in the end with the things that were
- 8:35Speaker 1: happening within this relationship. So I I don't excuse the
- 8:43Speaker 1: behaviors of some of the people that was involved, because
- 8:48Speaker 1: everybody played a certain type of role. And I'm not
- 8:51Speaker 1: one that's gonna sit and tell somebody how they should
- 8:53Speaker 1: live and how they should not live. But there's consequences
- 8:57Speaker 1: for people's actions, and sometimes innocent bystanders get hurt when
- 9:04Speaker 1: people start acting out their emotions and not checking their
- 9:12Speaker 1: emotions first. What in this book. Was there a particular
- 9:19Speaker 1: chapter that was especially difficult to write because again, your
- 9:23Speaker 1: title is I'm still and yes, I'm still in love
- 9:27Speaker 1: with him.
- 9:27Speaker 2: Or it's a portion of the book that's called swimming
- 9:34Speaker 2: in the Denial River.
- 9:40Speaker 1: You want, you know, because you know, I want to
- 9:43Speaker 1: ask you these questions. What do you mean by that
- 9:46Speaker 1: they're just swimming in the Denial river? Because we're gonna
- 9:48Speaker 1: get deep right about now, What do you mean by
- 9:50Speaker 1: swimming in the denial river? Explain that to me?
- 9:54Speaker 2: Because you know, even though I claim not to be
- 9:59Speaker 2: in little with the person, I always talked about the person.
- 10:03Speaker 2: So you know, people would tell me that I was
- 10:07Speaker 2: swimming in the Denial river that I still wanted that
- 10:11Speaker 2: person back.
- 10:16Speaker 1: Do you really think that you were in denial?
- 10:24Speaker 2: Uh?
- 10:24Speaker 1: Huh, that you were in denial? But I don't want
- 10:30Speaker 1: you to take it where it was only you. You know,
- 10:37Speaker 1: you hear that old saying that two can play that game,
- 10:42Speaker 1: Well there was three actually that became a part of
- 10:46Speaker 1: this right because once the other individual learned of the relationship.
- 10:56Speaker 1: I understand people get angry. I understand people get upset,
- 10:59Speaker 1: people well disappointed, and people are hurt, But to carry
- 11:04Speaker 1: it out in the way that the other person may
- 11:07Speaker 1: have carried it out could have been a little bit
- 11:10Speaker 1: dangerous for a lot of people. And I'm glad nobody
- 11:15Speaker 1: was well. I hope nobody was physically hurt with this,
- 11:20Speaker 1: but emotions and feelings can sometimes take over enough to
- 11:25Speaker 1: where they would feel or assume that they were physically
- 11:30Speaker 1: hurt because their feelings was hurt. And a feeling is
- 11:32Speaker 1: a part of your physical part of you. How do
- 11:36Speaker 1: you approach well, I'm hoping that they're listening, because this
- 11:40Speaker 1: is not just going out to you, it's going out
- 11:43Speaker 1: to them too, because they played a part in all
- 11:44Speaker 1: of this, and several people were hurt. You got friends
- 11:49Speaker 1: and family that loved you all that was probably surprised
- 11:53Speaker 1: by a lot of this and was hurt by a
- 11:56Speaker 1: lot of this. And and I'm say the three of
- 12:00Speaker 1: you need to take accountability for the parts and the
- 12:04Speaker 1: roles that you play. And I'm quite somebody is saying
- 12:06Speaker 1: she don't know what she's talking about. I know, I
- 12:10Speaker 1: may not know you exactly, and I'm only going by
- 12:14Speaker 1: what I'm hearing, so I can't fault you or anything.
- 12:18Speaker 1: But it takes more than just two people to have
- 12:24Speaker 1: an entanglement at times, and it got a little messy,
- 12:31Speaker 1: and it didn't turn out well for anyone because from
- 12:33Speaker 1: what I'm hearing, and I can only go by what
- 12:35Speaker 1: I'm hearing, nobody turned out being a winner. Everybody in
- 12:40Speaker 1: this situation suffered in some way. Even the bystanders suffered
- 12:44Speaker 1: in some way with this situation. But I want to
- 12:49Speaker 1: talk more about your writing process. How did you approach
- 12:52Speaker 1: this writing process and do you follow a strict routine
- 12:56Speaker 1: or right when inspiration strikes, because you've got so many
- 13:01Speaker 1: books based around this, and it seems like you strike
- 13:06Speaker 1: when something happens and you turn out these wonderful books.
- 13:11Speaker 1: So are these books you're you know, what's been going on?
- 13:14Speaker 1: Your inspiration to write these particular books?
- 13:17Speaker 2: Yeah, what's been going on? Yeah?
- 13:22Speaker 1: I'm suffice to say it's a lot that seems to
- 13:24Speaker 1: be going on. Because you got wet dreams, wedded dreams,
- 13:30Speaker 1: see i'n't seen here and name them as much as
- 13:32Speaker 1: I can. You have this one here, and you said
- 13:34Speaker 1: that they were part of a series. The name the
- 13:38Speaker 1: books that's part of this series, so people can catch
- 13:40Speaker 1: you into and they they can go out and purchase
- 13:42Speaker 1: it so they can follow your journey.
- 13:44Speaker 2: Okay, yes I'm still in love with you as part
- 13:46Speaker 2: of a serious too, because the first one in a
- 13:49Speaker 2: series is who do you love? And then the second
- 13:52Speaker 2: one is are you still in love with who? And
- 13:54Speaker 2: then yes, I'm still in love with you. And then
- 13:59Speaker 2: I have all about line, the refusal to return, the Slime,
- 14:04Speaker 2: the diminishing of slime, and one more coming out soon,
- 14:08Speaker 2: slim e Raise without a Trace. And I have my
- 14:15Speaker 2: education books, which are school days, holidays and all days
- 14:19Speaker 2: a lit between, more school days holidays and all days
- 14:23Speaker 2: a live between, and many more school days, holidays and
- 14:26Speaker 2: all days a lot between. And then I got my
- 14:29Speaker 2: book that my mama hates Wet Dreams and wetter Dreams.
- 14:33Speaker 2: She was like, I don't know why you put that
- 14:36Speaker 2: out there.
- 14:40Speaker 1: Sometimes you go with your gut, sometimes you go with
- 14:42Speaker 1: your feelings. But I've been telling you prior to U's
- 14:46Speaker 1: coming on air that I'm trying to rearrange my office,
- 14:49Speaker 1: but I gotta feel them and have to take one
- 14:50Speaker 1: of these bookcases and just take all of your collections
- 14:53Speaker 1: and put it up there. And we'll be going through
- 14:55Speaker 1: on one but one, because you have several books out
- 14:58Speaker 1: and it sounds like some journey that you have been on.
- 15:04Speaker 1: You know, what is the most significant lesson that you've
- 15:07Speaker 1: learned as an author over the years.
- 15:10Speaker 2: I learned that you can't you have to keep on
- 15:14Speaker 2: trucking with your writing process and you might lose people
- 15:18Speaker 2: and in the process you're going to gain people. And
- 15:22Speaker 2: you should never give up on what you believe in
- 15:26Speaker 2: your your talent, your craft because it may take a
- 15:30Speaker 2: while for you, you know, to accomplish things from it.
- 15:36Speaker 1: Yeah, and sometimes it's a journey. Hey, Patrice Haitian that
- 15:41Speaker 1: thank you both for joining us tonight. I think you
- 15:44Speaker 1: guys been a part of this journey as well with Nicole. So,
- 15:51Speaker 1: how has your writing style evolved since your first book
- 15:54Speaker 1: in the series, Wet Dreams? Because I've seen a difference.
- 15:59Speaker 1: I've seen a difference in your tone. I've seen a
- 16:02Speaker 1: difference in your demeanor. And this is outside of your writing.
- 16:07Speaker 1: When we first spoke about your situation or these situations
- 16:14Speaker 1: and your books, you are in here, but now you
- 16:18Speaker 1: seem to have boid it down and you're just mellowed down.
- 16:22Speaker 1: What happened was that change?
- 16:27Speaker 2: Well, I guess it's different, really different sizes of me
- 16:32Speaker 2: or whatever. And I kind of conveyed with the different
- 16:38Speaker 2: types of books, because with Wet Dreams, I pretty much
- 16:42Speaker 2: was out there and Wet the Dreams too, but I
- 16:47Speaker 2: can mellow myself down when it comes to love and
- 16:50Speaker 2: all of that and education. So it's different sides of me.
- 16:55Speaker 2: But a lot of people want to hear the Wet
- 16:57Speaker 2: Dreams stuff from me more than anything else.
- 17:02Speaker 1: And they're wanting to hear that without other people knowing
- 17:04Speaker 1: that they want to hear it. And nothing wrong with
- 17:07Speaker 1: people getting in touch with other sides of themselves. You know,
- 17:11Speaker 1: they do it on the down load, and that's that's
- 17:13Speaker 1: their thing. If that's their thing, Hey, who's to stop them?
- 17:16Speaker 1: And who's to say that you're wrong? You know, stuff
- 17:19Speaker 1: is out there. People want to know. You know. How
- 17:24Speaker 1: have readers responded to your previous work and how is
- 17:27Speaker 1: their feedback influenced your writing.
- 17:30Speaker 2: Well, I've kind of gotten a lot of five star
- 17:34Speaker 2: reviews from all of my books, but the one that's
- 17:39Speaker 2: that's most popular is Wet Dreams, and I kind of.
- 17:48Speaker 1: If you haven't gotten that book, go get it. It's
- 17:54Speaker 1: Christmas time. Give it to them after Christmas because that's
- 18:02Speaker 1: Jesus birthday. Let's move that book just a little bit
- 18:09Speaker 1: to the right after his birthday. Okay, I'm not telling
- 18:13Speaker 1: you not to buy the book, but you can buy
- 18:15Speaker 1: the book, hold off on reading it, wait till after
- 18:19Speaker 1: Jesus birthday because then you can do your hair, marriage
- 18:22Speaker 1: and everything else and you can enjoy his birth. But
- 18:26Speaker 1: I think that's something that you should do after because
- 18:29Speaker 1: you got a whole year. And I'm not saying that's
- 18:32Speaker 1: a sin. I'm just saying that you give him a
- 18:34Speaker 1: break that day from that book and then get to it.
- 18:37Speaker 1: You handle how do you handle criticism, whether from readers
- 18:42Speaker 1: or editors.
- 18:44Speaker 2: Well, I handle it well because everybody, everybody is not
- 18:50Speaker 2: going to be for different types of writing that I have.
- 18:56Speaker 2: You know, some people look may not like with Dreams,
- 18:59Speaker 2: and some people like like the education books. So I
- 19:02Speaker 2: try to take it in stride. And you know, maybe
- 19:06Speaker 2: that didn't fit. You know, if they didn't give me
- 19:09Speaker 2: such a great review, maybe that didn't fit for them.
- 19:12Speaker 2: So I have something for everybody.
- 19:16Speaker 1: Let me tell you, every book isn't for everybody, and
- 19:19Speaker 1: everybody is not for every book. Some people pick up
- 19:22Speaker 1: a book and they judge you by the stuff, for ooh,
- 19:24Speaker 1: this book is gonna be a good book I'm gonna read.
- 19:26Speaker 1: They get halfway through and like, why did I pick
- 19:27Speaker 1: up that book?
- 19:29Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 19:29Speaker 1: Have you heard from anyone personal meaning? Not just to
- 19:34Speaker 1: feel like somebody up close and up front to you,
- 19:39Speaker 1: to discuss your book with you.
- 19:41Speaker 2: Oh yeah, my sister. My sister didn't really like Where Dreams.
- 19:49Speaker 2: She was like, why did you put that out? And
- 19:52Speaker 2: she said, it's all out there. You didn't use any language.
- 19:56Speaker 2: You didn't use No, what do you call it? You know,
- 20:00Speaker 2: you went to school, you know what I'm talking about.
- 20:02Speaker 2: I say, figurative language. You didn't use any figurative language.
- 20:06Speaker 2: And I said, well, I wanted it to be that
- 20:11Speaker 2: way because of what had happened, you know. So I
- 20:16Speaker 2: used figurative language and some of my other a lot
- 20:18Speaker 2: of figurative language and some of my other books. But
- 20:22Speaker 2: and then I said, it's a couple of poems in
- 20:24Speaker 2: there too that you really have to think about what's
- 20:27Speaker 2: going on, you know. So I did use a figurative language.
- 20:32Speaker 2: And then another guy that I went to high school with,
- 20:35Speaker 2: he kept asking me he got a hold of the book.
- 20:38Speaker 2: I don't even know how he got a hold of
- 20:40Speaker 2: the book, but he kept asking me. You know, he
- 20:43Speaker 2: rang my doorbell in my mom's house, and he kept
- 20:47Speaker 2: asking me, was that you and the book? Was that
- 20:50Speaker 2: you and the book? You were so quiet at school?
- 20:53Speaker 2: You were you were you know, we didn't approach you
- 20:55Speaker 2: in that manner. If it's so he got my phone number.
- 21:02Speaker 1: Oh, you gotta be kind of careful then, because he
- 21:04Speaker 1: knows where you live and he may have other things
- 21:07Speaker 1: on his mind.
- 21:08Speaker 2: Yeah, a lot really really mindful and careful. A lot
- 21:13Speaker 2: of people from high schools, like I can't believe she
- 21:17Speaker 2: was because she was so ic, she was so wise,
- 21:20Speaker 2: she was so sweet.
- 21:23Speaker 1: Well, you know that was high school and this is now.
- 21:25Speaker 1: Look at the years that it went past, and your
- 21:28Speaker 1: experience is different. I'm quite sure there's this too. You know,
- 21:32Speaker 1: they may go to church on Sunday, but by Monday
- 21:34Speaker 1: they you may need to pick him up off the ground,
- 21:38Speaker 1: you know, being back in high school, we all were different.
- 21:42Speaker 1: When we spoke, we were around, and the way we behaved.
- 21:46Speaker 1: You know, for those who haven't changed, then those are
- 21:50Speaker 1: the ones who haven't evolved. So, if you could collaborate
- 21:54Speaker 1: with any author, who would it be and why of Hey,
- 22:02Speaker 1: that's your choice.
- 22:04Speaker 2: Maya Angelo. Oh wow, we're both from the South and
- 22:09Speaker 2: came from small towns and went through a lot.
- 22:16Speaker 1: Yeah, I read her story, and from what I've read,
- 22:20Speaker 1: she has been through a lot, but she made she
- 22:23Speaker 1: made the best of it, and she made the best
- 22:26Speaker 1: of who she was. And that respect came right along
- 22:29Speaker 1: with it. You know, when you look at someone with
- 22:32Speaker 1: her caliber and you hear the stuff that she's been
- 22:36Speaker 1: through and the choices that she made, many overlook some
- 22:43Speaker 1: of those things because that respect is there. Minute she
- 22:45Speaker 1: walks through the room, you get quiet. It's almost like
- 22:50Speaker 1: Auntie so and so is in here. Be quiet, sit
- 22:52Speaker 1: up straight, don't move. And it's just the way she
- 22:54Speaker 1: holds herself and carries herself. But she told you about
- 22:59Speaker 1: her past. She told her it's about her past, and
- 23:02Speaker 1: she told us about the choices that she made, whether
- 23:05Speaker 1: she had to make them or whether she wanted to
- 23:07Speaker 1: make them. And for you to say that that's a
- 23:10Speaker 1: person that you look up to, I employed you because
- 23:12Speaker 1: she is she was a great woman. What do you
- 23:16Speaker 1: what do you do to recharge or overcome writer's block?
- 23:19Speaker 1: Because you know, I often wonder when people say writer's block,
- 23:22Speaker 1: is that really such a thing. Now I've experienced, you know, writing,
- 23:27Speaker 1: but I don't know what I would call it a
- 23:29Speaker 1: writer's block. You know, there's time where I put the
- 23:32Speaker 1: pen down and just would pick it back up for
- 23:34Speaker 1: for weeks at a time and sometimes months. Yeah, it
- 23:39Speaker 1: writers block.
- 23:41Speaker 2: Sometimes I don't. I go for a couple of days
- 23:45Speaker 2: or weeks without writing, But I don't consider it writer's block.
- 23:50Speaker 2: I consider it a big brain storm because you know
- 23:56Speaker 2: things are going on and you you just you're watching
- 24:00Speaker 2: and you know it may not download unto you until
- 24:04Speaker 2: you get to sitting down or you know, feeling feeling it.
- 24:08Speaker 2: That's how I feel about it. And when I can't
- 24:12Speaker 2: really write something down and I have to write something down,
- 24:15Speaker 2: I'll go outside or listen to some music or play
- 24:21Speaker 2: with my kids or do something like this so that
- 24:25Speaker 2: it could come out. Because a lot of people ask
- 24:29Speaker 2: me to write different things for people, funeral programs or
- 24:34Speaker 2: with you know, or poems and stuff like that, and
- 24:38Speaker 2: you know, sometimes I could get it right away, and
- 24:41Speaker 2: sometimes I can't, and my mom would be like, why
- 24:44Speaker 2: you can't write it. I was like, it don't come
- 24:46Speaker 2: that easy, Mama. It doesn't come that easy, you know.
- 24:49Speaker 2: And sometimes you know, the church wants me to write,
- 24:53Speaker 2: you know, Christmas plays and stuff like that. And it
- 24:55Speaker 2: doesn't come that easy because you have to know who
- 24:59Speaker 2: you write it for.
- 25:01Speaker 1: You know, you have you have your way of writing,
- 25:05Speaker 1: you have your style of writing, and you know what
- 25:08Speaker 1: you're most comfortable with. Now Chett has an emoji here
- 25:11Speaker 1: with tears in its eyes, and I don't have my glasses.
- 25:14Speaker 1: I don't know whether she's cracking up or whether she
- 25:16Speaker 1: crying or her next statement then you said and it
- 25:21Speaker 1: was exactly so she knows exactly what you're talking about.
- 25:27Speaker 1: Are there any golden nugget?
- 25:29Speaker 2: Right? Yeah? And then people want to rush you when
- 25:32Speaker 2: you're in the creative process and they were like this enough,
- 25:34Speaker 2: and I'm like, no, it's not enough because I'm not through.
- 25:39Speaker 2: You know.
- 25:41Speaker 1: Exact it's your book. When you want to end it,
- 25:43Speaker 1: you know when you you want to you know when
- 25:45Speaker 1: you want to end it, you know how you want
- 25:47Speaker 1: to end it. You know how you're feeling when you're
- 25:50Speaker 1: coming to that end part. Are there any golden nuggets
- 25:53Speaker 1: or personal touches hitting in your books that fans might
- 25:56Speaker 1: not have noticed?
- 25:59Speaker 2: Well, a lot of them I get from listening to
- 26:04Speaker 2: love songs, or you know, they may not they may
- 26:12Speaker 2: come from some of the words of the love song,
- 26:14Speaker 2: or they may be my own interpretation of it.
- 26:19Speaker 1: Nically said, so what are you currently reading and how
- 26:23Speaker 1: does it inspire your own writing, because a lot of
- 26:26Speaker 1: people don't believe that because we're writings with authors that
- 26:29Speaker 1: we don't read other books. I'm reading.
- 26:37Speaker 2: I read the Bible every day, and it's another book
- 26:42Speaker 2: that I'm reading my what is in Sidney Reds book?
- 26:52Speaker 2: My my boy My my boyfriends? No, my husband's girlfriend.
- 27:03Speaker 1: I might have to get in touch with that author.
- 27:05Speaker 1: My husband's girlfriend.
- 27:07Speaker 2: Mm hmm.
- 27:10Speaker 1: Your friend may be on the same wavelength with you too.
- 27:14Speaker 1: Sometimes authors they find other authors that they they have
- 27:20Speaker 1: something in common with their writing. If one of your
- 27:24Speaker 1: books were adapted into a movie, which one would it be?
- 27:27Speaker 1: And who would you cast as the lead character? I
- 27:33Speaker 1: said my throat earlier on the collaboration, But I ain't
- 27:35Speaker 1: clearing my throat for this. If if one of the
- 27:39Speaker 1: books were adapted into a movie, which one would it be?
- 27:43Speaker 2: And who? I think the love serious? Who do you love?
- 27:48Speaker 2: Are you still in love with who? And your some
- 27:50Speaker 2: I'm still in love with you? And I think I
- 27:53Speaker 2: would pick somebody like Jill Scott.
- 27:57Speaker 1: Oh wow? Why did you Scott?
- 28:00Speaker 2: Because she flows well and then she's a singer too,
- 28:04Speaker 2: and a lot of a lot of the poems in
- 28:09Speaker 2: there start off with pieces of love songs.
- 28:13Speaker 1: Oh, she's definitely a beauty. She's definitely a singer. How
- 28:18Speaker 1: would you approach her just to even ask her.
- 28:21Speaker 2: About I don't know. I never thought of that. I
- 28:25Speaker 2: don't know.
- 28:26Speaker 1: Is the opportunity watching tonight or somebody she knows that's
- 28:30Speaker 1: watching tonight, here's your opportunity to get on there. Look,
- 28:33Speaker 1: miss Scott, I am the author of and I love
- 28:37Speaker 1: to have you. You do your thing because this might
- 28:39Speaker 1: be a shock and you never know because you don't
- 28:41Speaker 1: swipe up. I might swipe up for something I'm doing. Yeah,
- 28:46Speaker 1: don't be afraid to put that out there. Don't be
- 28:49Speaker 1: afraid to to feel comfortable enough to read somebody that
- 28:55Speaker 1: you may think is unreachable, because they may just be reachable.
- 29:00Speaker 1: They may say, you know what, I like that book,
- 29:04Speaker 1: I like what it's about. I would love to play
- 29:06Speaker 1: that role because it might be a role that she
- 29:09Speaker 1: may have never thought about playing. So what's next to you? Yes,
- 29:14Speaker 1: I'm still in love with you.
- 29:18Speaker 2: What's next for me? I'm working on slim eras without
- 29:23Speaker 2: a trace, and that's gonna be a fourth book, Slimy
- 29:29Speaker 2: Race without a Trace, that's gonna be a fourth book
- 29:33Speaker 2: in the all of our Slide series. In fact, the
- 29:38Speaker 2: latest book in the series, which is The Diminishing of Slime,
- 29:43Speaker 2: was in the book festival this summer, and I didn't
- 29:46Speaker 2: even find out until September twenty fourth it was in
- 29:53Speaker 2: a book festival.
- 29:58Speaker 1: Let me ask you said, some erase without a trace.
- 30:02Speaker 1: A lot of your titles of your book I get,
- 30:07Speaker 1: and they made a lot with certain situations. Now this
- 30:13Speaker 1: one here, you're talking about some erase without a trace.
- 30:16Speaker 1: That sounds like get rid of somebody slim. I just
- 30:25Speaker 1: wanted to clear it up so I ain't got to
- 30:26Speaker 1: worry about listening to the news and somebody just disappeared.
- 30:28Speaker 2: Altogether, it's a sticky situation and it's finally cleaning up,
- 30:33Speaker 2: cleaning up.
- 30:36Speaker 1: Oh okay, does this have to do with your current
- 30:39Speaker 1: situation or is it something.
- 30:41Speaker 2: That's it's finally cleaning up. I didn't even think that
- 30:47Speaker 2: I was gonna write or fourth book to the series,
- 30:52Speaker 2: but things kept happening, so I kept having to write.
- 30:58Speaker 1: So do you have plans to be busy characters and
- 31:00Speaker 1: themes from your earlier books.
- 31:04Speaker 2: Yeah, if it, you know, if it boils down to that,
- 31:08Speaker 2: But I don't think. I'm not really sure, you know,
- 31:14Speaker 2: of how by situation it's getting better, you know, but
- 31:20Speaker 2: you know, I don't know what's gonna happen next. So
- 31:24Speaker 2: and a lot of these are based on true stories,
- 31:26Speaker 2: and then some of them are not. So I just
- 31:29Speaker 2: have to I guess, I go. I write for by heart,
- 31:33Speaker 2: so I have to feel it.
- 31:36Speaker 1: It sounds like an adjustment question. Now we spoke about
- 31:40Speaker 1: this and not ask you this question before. If there
- 31:45Speaker 1: was a chance of you two getting back together, would
- 31:50Speaker 1: you take that chance?
- 31:52Speaker 2: I probably would?
- 31:54Speaker 1: What would have to change, if anything at all?
- 32:06Speaker 2: He explaining about how I feel about certain things, you know,
- 32:10Speaker 2: telling that person worth or not I'm mad or something
- 32:16Speaker 2: because I didn't. I didn't do that.
- 32:21Speaker 1: Now, what I'm hearing is that you're taking a lot
- 32:24Speaker 1: of accountability for things that happen in that relationship. Do
- 32:30Speaker 1: you think that he's taking accountability for the things that
- 32:33Speaker 1: may have happened in this relationship.
- 32:37Speaker 2: I don't think so. But and then part of me,
- 32:44Speaker 2: part of me thinks he did. Is because a lot
- 32:48Speaker 2: of stuff that I said he let go. You know,
- 32:53Speaker 2: he didn't really retaliate, and.
- 33:02Speaker 1: That's because of the things you said that you believe
- 33:05Speaker 1: you said that that it was some bad stuff. You
- 33:08Speaker 1: made some bad stuff, and I kind of know what
- 33:11Speaker 1: that bad stuff is. And I don't want to mention
- 33:13Speaker 1: it on the air because I don't want to get
- 33:15Speaker 1: shut down. But what about some of the bad stuff
- 33:19Speaker 1: that he did and the and the people that he
- 33:21Speaker 1: didn't too.
- 33:24Speaker 2: I believe that was wrong, and I believe, you know,
- 33:29Speaker 2: God is a sacond chance God. And you know, not
- 33:34Speaker 2: only was that person my lover, that was my best
- 33:37Speaker 2: friend too. So even if we ain't nothing but friends,
- 33:43Speaker 2: I'll accept that.
- 33:47Speaker 1: Man, I don't want you to sell yourself short for him. Yeah,
- 33:51Speaker 1: I'm talking about you when you're listening, But I don't
- 33:54Speaker 1: want you to sell yourself short for him or any
- 33:57Speaker 1: other man, because they're not worth selling yourself short for
- 34:03Speaker 1: or letting them get in too deep to change who
- 34:07Speaker 1: you are. Because from what I've seen within this last year,
- 34:13Speaker 1: I've seen a lot of growth within you. So don't
- 34:17Speaker 1: let anyone change that or take that away from you. Okay,
- 34:23Speaker 1: because you've come a long way, You've gotten back to
- 34:27Speaker 1: your family, you started making yourself whole again. Look at
- 34:33Speaker 1: how your little boy is responding now, look at how
- 34:37Speaker 1: the relationship is blossoming with you and your daughter, And
- 34:43Speaker 1: look at what you're doing. Your books are in places
- 34:47Speaker 1: that you may not have thought that they would be in.
- 34:50Speaker 1: People are contacting you, and you're doing more books. And
- 34:58Speaker 1: you remember that he was one person that you said,
- 35:02Speaker 1: put your book out there without your knowledge. So there's
- 35:07Speaker 1: that underlining stuff that's still going on. And think I
- 35:11Speaker 1: had mentioned before, he may not evolved to have evolved yet,
- 35:14Speaker 1: and he may not be ready. He may not know,
- 35:18Speaker 1: or he may not have ever been shown. But it
- 35:22Speaker 1: seems as though you're moving at a steady pace. And
- 35:26Speaker 1: that's a pace that you seem to be comfortable with
- 35:29Speaker 1: because you seem to be doing such a wonderful job.
- 35:31Speaker 1: And I'm very proud of you, because I'm gonna be honest.
- 35:35Speaker 1: In the beginning, you will all over the place, But
- 35:39Speaker 1: it's this calm demeanor that you have. You may have
- 35:43Speaker 1: some stuff up your sleeve now, I just don't know
- 35:46Speaker 1: what it is, but I'll find out where can readers
- 35:51Speaker 1: connect with you and keep up with your work?
- 35:54Speaker 2: Well, I'm on a lot of social media platforms as
- 36:00Speaker 2: author Nicole ass Brown. That's on Twitter which is now
- 36:05Speaker 2: x TikTok Instagram, and I'm on Facebook as Nicole Sharrun Brown.
- 36:12Speaker 2: And I also have a fan page outstanding poet and
- 36:17Speaker 2: author Nicoles Brown that's on Facebook and I'm on LinkedIn
- 36:22Speaker 2: as author Nicoles Brown.
- 36:25Speaker 1: Okay, you've gotten it off and that said something out
- 36:28Speaker 1: to you and said, yes, she does. She would be perfect.
- 36:32Speaker 1: Now I believe she may be talking about Jill Scott.
- 36:35Speaker 2: Mm hmm.
- 36:36Speaker 1: Were discussing Jill Scott, but take that shot. You never know.
- 36:43Speaker 1: But I again and as always, and I'm gonna tell
- 36:45Speaker 1: everybody we had someone else that was scheduled to appear tonight,
- 36:50Speaker 1: but they fell under the weather. And it's always I always, always, always,
- 36:55Speaker 1: always can reach out to my girl here. She's always
- 36:59Speaker 1: had my back, she always got something to say, she
- 37:03Speaker 1: got new books coming out, and we may be acting
- 37:06Speaker 1: from each other for maybe weeks at a time, but
- 37:09Speaker 1: there's always something going on with Nicole is Brown. And
- 37:12Speaker 1: I want to thank you Nicole for joining us tonight
- 37:16Speaker 1: and for sharing your next book. Yes, I am still
- 37:19Speaker 1: in love with you. There ain't nothing wrong with still
- 37:22Speaker 1: being in love with somebody, just be careful and be
- 37:24Speaker 1: mindful about the steps that you take. Now. By now,
- 37:29Speaker 1: i'd be inviting you to join me for my next show.
