- 1:40Speaker 1: Please to welcome on Colin Ward from the Ohl and
- 1:42Speaker 1: sixty podcast and the podcast and the Bulldogs Audio Network.
- 1:45Speaker 1: Colin really appreciate you taking the time and staying up
- 1:47Speaker 1: late for us to break this one down. It was definitely,
- 1:51Speaker 1: you know, an exciting one different from what we saw
- 1:53Speaker 1: in A two to one plus the empty netter in
- 1:55Speaker 1: game one.
- 1:57Speaker 3: Yeah, you know, a lot different, a lot different page
- 1:59Speaker 3: thot option down this one for sure, a lot more
- 2:01Speaker 3: emotion in the game as well. As you see a
- 2:03Speaker 3: series start to tend off Brandon, where games start to
- 2:08Speaker 3: get momentum. In series, you start to you know those
- 2:11Speaker 3: little things right more, you get to know each other well,
- 2:14Speaker 3: physicality starts and we're starting to see that in the
- 2:16Speaker 3: series and I can't wait to chat about it.
- 2:18Speaker 1: Absolutely. So we're gonna get forward with our game stats.
- 2:20Speaker 1: We'll get the scoring summary, we'll talk to you see
- 2:22Speaker 1: a hocus, and we'll get Collins Player of the Game
- 2:24Speaker 1: as well. So stay tuned for that and we'll get
- 2:27Speaker 1: forward with the game stats.
- 2:28Speaker 3: At home, right at the auditorium. And I think that
- 2:31Speaker 3: that's what's gonna be interesting when the series shifts to
- 2:33Speaker 3: Sue to see if that still goes. But when you
- 2:35Speaker 3: see Sharon on the fourth line, I just think it's partially, Hey,
- 2:38Speaker 3: we need to we need to try to beat the
- 2:40Speaker 3: match up here the Rangers of the matchup. You say,
- 2:42Speaker 3: a Hocus is a great coach with the matchup in
- 2:45Speaker 3: their favorite the auditorium, the Rangers are a tough team
- 2:47Speaker 3: to beat, and I think that's part of it. I
- 2:49Speaker 3: think that, hey, we got a balance of lines out.
- 2:51Speaker 3: We got to try to have four scoring lines instead
- 2:53Speaker 3: of just the one or two, or we don't have
- 2:54Speaker 3: a chance in this game and we don't have a
- 2:56Speaker 3: chance in the series. And I think realistically, I think
- 2:58Speaker 3: anyone listening right now, it's a Sue Greyhounds fan or
- 3:01Speaker 3: a Rangers fan, knows that the big picture that hey,
- 3:06Speaker 3: you got it. You gotta be able to match up
- 3:07Speaker 3: the best. And I think that keep the I thought
- 3:09Speaker 3: the Greyhounds thought that, hey, this gives the Rangers the
- 3:12Speaker 3: hardest opportunity to match up against us, because, like I mentioned,
- 3:15Speaker 3: John Dan after Game one saying about the recipe, Well,
- 3:18Speaker 3: that's an interesting recipe, no doubt. Having a guy with
- 3:21Speaker 3: forty eight points on the on the regular season on
- 3:23Speaker 3: your fourth line, that to me, that's what that is
- 3:27Speaker 3: we talk about.
- 3:28Speaker 1: Brady Martin has to be a catalyst for the Sue
- 3:31Speaker 1: Greyhounds team and he only has one secondary assist or
- 3:34Speaker 1: two games of the series, and obviously that's got to
- 3:37Speaker 1: be a point of emphasis for the Rangers to be
- 3:39Speaker 1: able to shut him down or attempt to really because
- 3:43Speaker 1: everything sort of runs through him. But you look at
- 3:45Speaker 1: the power play tonight and we'll we'll get into We'll
- 3:48Speaker 1: just go go ahead with the scoring summary because I
- 3:50Speaker 1: want to talk about that. There thirty eight thirty one
- 3:53Speaker 1: in favor of Kitchen or the shots two for two
- 3:55Speaker 1: for Kitchen and the power play one for six for Sue.
- 3:57Speaker 1: Facea's forty three to twenty nine in favor of the
- 4:00Speaker 1: one for six for Sue on the power play is
- 4:03Speaker 1: the glaring one to me, calling because they had opportunities
- 4:06Speaker 1: tonight two five on threes and I just really haven't seen,
- 4:10Speaker 1: you know, with the possibilities and capabilities that they can
- 4:13Speaker 1: roll out there with a four or five man unit
- 4:14Speaker 1: the Sue Greyhounds, and for John Dene's Club, I really
- 4:17Speaker 1: haven't liked what I've seen from their power play so far.
- 4:20Speaker 3: No, you know, I think it's too extra. I think
- 4:21Speaker 3: it's too extra, and I think it's too perimeter. Let's
- 4:24Speaker 3: be honest. You look at the Greyhounds power play right now,
- 4:26Speaker 3: Brandon in the series. You look at guys like Chase
- 4:28Speaker 3: read up top, you look at Bignosa, you look at
- 4:30Speaker 3: Brady Martin. Right those are the three you have to
- 4:33Speaker 3: have a successful power play. You have to have all
- 4:36Speaker 3: five men contribute to the power play. They all have
- 4:39Speaker 3: to play a part. And right now, I think the
- 4:41Speaker 3: Sue Greyhounds have two to three pieces that play a
- 4:43Speaker 3: part of the power play, but not a complete unit.
- 4:46Speaker 3: You have to have a complete unit synchronized in the
- 4:50Speaker 3: system to be to be successful on the power play.
- 4:53Speaker 3: And you look at the Rangers on the flip side
- 4:55Speaker 3: two for two tonight, why is that You look at
- 4:57Speaker 3: how they manufacture goals in the power play to compare
- 5:00Speaker 3: to the Greyhounds. Due right you see one of the
- 5:02Speaker 3: most dangerous power play chances through the legs from Brady
- 5:06Speaker 3: Martin net front. Like to me, I get it. That's
- 5:10Speaker 3: a nice move and wow, that's cool. You're gonna get
- 5:13Speaker 3: on Instagram if you score the goal. But realistically, you
- 5:17Speaker 3: just go four hand backhand there you probably have a
- 5:20Speaker 3: better success. I think it's stuff like that the simple game.
- 5:24Speaker 3: Everyone has to be involved in the power play. And
- 5:26Speaker 3: you look at the tail tonight, one for six vers
- 5:29Speaker 3: two for two on the power play for the Rangers
- 5:30Speaker 3: one for six of the Greyhounds. To me, that's something
- 5:33Speaker 3: that hey, not all five men were contributing to the
- 5:36Speaker 3: unit at the same time, and that all they all
- 5:40Speaker 3: have to be involved in the power play, and right now,
- 5:42Speaker 3: I think it's too predictable. The Sue Greyhounds power play
- 5:44Speaker 3: is Hey, as we get through to a series, right,
- 5:47Speaker 3: teams watch video. Uh, And that's something that, Hey, there's
- 5:51Speaker 3: no hiding power plays. There's no hiding power play structure.
- 5:55Speaker 3: And that's something right now that the Sue Greyhounds need
- 5:57Speaker 3: to work on because they need to get everyone involved
- 6:00Speaker 3: in the power play, not just three players. And I
- 6:02Speaker 3: think that was a problem tonight.
- 6:04Speaker 4: No, it was, and it's just it's been.
- 6:06Speaker 1: It's been tough to watch because they have the talent
- 6:08Speaker 1: out there, right, and it's just you know, how many
- 6:10Speaker 1: times do we see you know, great teams on paper
- 6:13Speaker 1: and just not able to put it all together. And
- 6:15Speaker 1: I feel like this Greyhounds team five on five has
- 6:18Speaker 1: shown the capabilities of keeping up with the Rangers. But
- 6:20Speaker 1: they could have really blown this game open and maybe
- 6:23Speaker 1: been on the winning side of it if they could
- 6:24Speaker 1: have had a better opportunity on the man advantage Kitchen
- 6:27Speaker 1: or really, you know, I know there were some penalties
- 6:29Speaker 1: that maybe shouldn't have been called, but the Rangers are
- 6:32Speaker 1: really you know, doing it to themselves and almost letting
- 6:34Speaker 1: the Sue back in this game with these power plays.
- 6:36Speaker 4: But they were able to kill off five.
- 6:38Speaker 3: Of the six Oh big time, you know, And hey,
- 6:40Speaker 3: you're playing a dangerous recipe. I can tell you right
- 6:42Speaker 3: now if the Kitchener Rangers, you do not want to
- 6:44Speaker 3: take penalties when you now is the series shifts to Sue,
- 6:47Speaker 3: you do not want to get into penalty problems in
- 6:49Speaker 3: Susaint Marie. That's something that hey, as a series shifts
- 6:53Speaker 3: venues it, things will change. Right. The Rangers have momentum
- 6:58Speaker 3: and they won the game tonight, but they didn't win
- 6:59Speaker 3: this series tonight. And you know the old phrase Brandon
- 7:02Speaker 3: you're never out of a series until you lose it
- 7:04Speaker 3: at home. And we know how loud it's gonna be
- 7:07Speaker 3: in Sue Saint Marie, and that's something that is going
- 7:10Speaker 3: to play a factor. Composure issues, things like that, and
- 7:14Speaker 3: I think right now that Rangers team, that's something there
- 7:17Speaker 3: where you give up six Some were legit calls. Some
- 7:22Speaker 3: were legit calls. I know there's arguments until they blew
- 7:26Speaker 3: it on the face too many men. I know. I
- 7:28Speaker 3: messaged your Brandon if it was or not. If it
- 7:31Speaker 3: was legit you pull the Brady Martin penalty. I didn't
- 7:35Speaker 3: like the penalty with the by Aminoski grabbing Martin like that.
- 7:40Speaker 3: One thing. There's two things on my thought, two things
- 7:43Speaker 3: that I really think about Brandon on that play. One,
- 7:46Speaker 3: I understand what aman Oski's trying to do. You know
- 7:49Speaker 3: who Brady Martin is on the ice. And by the way,
- 7:51Speaker 3: amano Oski and Woolley have been incredible against the Brady Martin.
- 7:55Speaker 3: They've been incredible through two games. You're not gonna see
- 7:58Speaker 3: defense to play like that. And no surprise you look
- 8:00Speaker 3: at them. They're two men's they're heavyweight. Those are guys
- 8:03Speaker 3: that play men hockey. Built for the postseason. That's why
- 8:06Speaker 3: Brady Martin struggling so far in the first two games
- 8:08Speaker 3: at the odd But my second point I wanted to
- 8:11Speaker 3: mention about that is, so you know who Brady Martin is. Yes,
- 8:14Speaker 3: you're gonna try to do your thing. Where's the Sue Greyhounds?
- 8:18Speaker 3: There was no Greyhound in sight sticking up for their captain.
- 8:22Speaker 3: That was interesting to me. That was an interesting point
- 8:25Speaker 3: for me because I don't know if guys you're looking
- 8:27Speaker 3: to turn pro in play play playoff games in the
- 8:30Speaker 3: American Hockey League or what's going on there. But that
- 8:33Speaker 3: was a very big surprise to me when I when
- 8:36Speaker 3: I saw that it's your captain, right like I thought,
- 8:40Speaker 3: I was surprised that no one went involved. You scored
- 8:44Speaker 3: in the power play if that was the only power
- 8:45Speaker 3: play goal they scored on in a game at the
- 8:47Speaker 3: third period. But to me, that was interesting. Those are
- 8:50Speaker 3: the two points. I know, you know who Brady Martin is,
- 8:52Speaker 3: you're trying to get under his skin, But where's the
- 8:54Speaker 3: Greyhound teammates? And that's that's just one thing that I
- 8:58Speaker 3: that It really caught my eye in a contest tonight,
- 9:00Speaker 3: that moment in the second period.
- 9:03Speaker 1: We'll move forward with the scoring summary tonight. We got
- 9:05Speaker 1: a lot to go over here, Colin, so we'll try
- 9:07Speaker 1: not to make it to make it too long. But
- 9:10Speaker 1: I mean, when you look at it, you know, a
- 9:12Speaker 1: low scoring contest two to one with the empty netter
- 9:14Speaker 1: three to one. Last game eight five was the final
- 9:17Speaker 1: tonight and it was only one goal through the first period.
- 9:20Speaker 4: And again, Sam O'Reilly.
- 9:22Speaker 1: And I want to give you an opportunity to really,
- 9:24Speaker 1: you know, just give him his flowers, because you've been
- 9:27Speaker 1: on that train since he got over to the Kitchener
- 9:29Speaker 1: Rangers and the reason why he was your Red Tilsa nominee,
- 9:32Speaker 1: why he's my Red Tilsa nominee, and why he's a
- 9:34Speaker 1: lot of people's Red Tilsa.
- 9:36Speaker 4: Nominee or vote.
- 9:37Speaker 1: I guess you could say for the league's most outstanding
- 9:39Speaker 1: player this season because he's just added such a different
- 9:42Speaker 1: dynamic to this Kitchen Arrangers club. He gets a hat
- 9:44Speaker 1: trick in this game, but he gets it started off
- 9:46Speaker 1: here in the first period and gets them off to
- 9:49Speaker 1: a one nothing lead there, picks up the loose punk
- 9:52Speaker 1: beside the net and shovels at home. Won nothing. Jack
- 9:54Speaker 1: Purdham gets the assist there and sixteen thirty one was
- 9:58Speaker 1: the only goal of the first period. But the race
- 10:00Speaker 1: getting off to a lead in this number twenty three
- 10:02Speaker 1: to no surprise.
- 10:04Speaker 3: Yeah, you know that line is incredible with Pridham Edwards
- 10:07Speaker 3: and O'Reilly eight points to night in the contest combined
- 10:10Speaker 3: for that top line for the Rangers. And you know
- 10:12Speaker 3: it's interesting though O'Riley changed their identity of the team
- 10:17Speaker 3: this year. And I watched the first goal for instance,
- 10:21Speaker 3: where he scores the puck right, where's the puck in
- 10:23Speaker 3: front of the net, finds a way to score. He's
- 10:25Speaker 3: done that throughout his Ontario Hockey League career better than
- 10:29Speaker 3: most in the Ontario Hockey He's an elite player in
- 10:31Speaker 3: the home played area, around the net, in the blue paint,
- 10:34Speaker 3: he's the elite there. He saw it with Denver Barky
- 10:37Speaker 3: Easton Cowen when he did those years in London, and
- 10:39Speaker 3: now you're seeing it with Pridham Edwards. And it's no
- 10:42Speaker 3: secret Brandon to why the Rangers' success has turned around
- 10:45Speaker 3: here since the since the trade deadline. Sam O'Reilly Jared
- 10:49Speaker 3: Woolly are two massive, massive additions. But how about that
- 10:53Speaker 3: with Sam O'Reilly, the way he plays around the net,
- 10:57Speaker 3: huge play there. He always finds the way to score
- 11:00Speaker 3: big goals. And also he makes a lot of space
- 11:03Speaker 3: out there for guys like Pridam, for guys like Edwards.
- 11:06Speaker 3: It's no secret they had forty goals that on his
- 11:09Speaker 3: wings because of Samuel O'Reilly. He's good around the net.
- 11:12Speaker 3: He's gonna allow you to have space, you're gonna get
- 11:15Speaker 3: your touches and everyone's happy. And I think that that's
- 11:18Speaker 3: where Sam O'Reilly is such a good teammate and everything
- 11:21Speaker 3: he does is he does great, and that's why he's
- 11:23Speaker 3: my Red Tillsen vote this year. And I know that
- 11:26Speaker 3: started back in February on the ohl at sixty podcasts,
- 11:30Speaker 3: but I think that it's no secret you watch the
- 11:32Speaker 3: Rangers play, you watch Sam O'Reilly, there's a reason why
- 11:37Speaker 3: they're being they're successful. And it's no surprise for London
- 11:40Speaker 3: fans listening to this because London Nights have saw that
- 11:43Speaker 3: for the last two seasons, the last three seasons in
- 11:45Speaker 3: London and now the range that you're seeing it for
- 11:47Speaker 3: this half season here at the Auditorium in Kitchener because wow,
- 11:51Speaker 3: he's been great. Everything he does he does well. You
- 11:53Speaker 3: need a big face off. He wins a faceoff for you.
- 11:55Speaker 3: You need a big goal, he scores a big goal.
- 11:58Speaker 3: You need a big penalty kill. He kills a big penalty.
- 12:01Speaker 3: So that's what he does. You mean you look at
- 12:02Speaker 3: the You look at late in the game Brandon where
- 12:05Speaker 3: he goes and wins a face off. And I was
- 12:08Speaker 3: upset about this for the for the Greyhounds. I am
- 12:11Speaker 3: never a fan. So the Greyhounds have an offensive zone.
- 12:14Speaker 3: Why is Carter George at the blue line? Just pull him,
- 12:17Speaker 3: Get the extra guy in the face off, Get the
- 12:19Speaker 3: extra winger in the face off. Have they ever heard
- 12:21Speaker 3: of a winger face off win? It happens ninety percent
- 12:24Speaker 3: of the time in those situations. In a D zone
- 12:26Speaker 3: draw late in the game, an offensive zone draw late
- 12:29Speaker 3: in the game, you get the extra man inside the
- 12:31Speaker 3: face off. Look what happens. I mean, I couldn't believe that.
- 12:34Speaker 3: That's another moment in the game where I'm thinking, huh,
- 12:38Speaker 3: that's interesting, Just like how I didn't like how no
- 12:40Speaker 3: one stepped up for Brady Martin when he's getting headlocked.
- 12:43Speaker 3: No he did a thing. Those two situations to me
- 12:45Speaker 3: were very head scratching to me, and that's where Samuel
- 12:49Speaker 3: Riiley wins a massive face off eventually gets the empty
- 12:52Speaker 3: net goal. That's what he does. That's what he does.
- 12:56Speaker 3: Every big situation in a game he's successful in. And
- 13:00Speaker 3: that's the utmost respect I can give to him. He's
- 13:02Speaker 3: been great for the Rangers. He was great in London.
- 13:05Speaker 3: He's been great for the Rangers. You're gonna be a
- 13:06Speaker 3: really good NHL player.
- 13:08Speaker 1: The Sue Greyhounds had a five on three in this
- 13:11Speaker 1: in the first period. They weren't able to take advantage
- 13:13Speaker 1: of it. We got we started the parade of the
- 13:15Speaker 1: penalty box near the end of that first period scrum
- 13:17Speaker 1: at the end of the period.
- 13:18Speaker 4: Penalties went both ways.
- 13:20Speaker 1: But it was in the second period avery Asis gets
- 13:24Speaker 1: his first goal of the playoffs and the fourth line
- 13:26Speaker 1: coming through for the Sue Gray I mean for the
- 13:28Speaker 1: Kitchener Rangers.
- 13:29Speaker 4: Excuse me.
- 13:30Speaker 1: Right after Mignosa had a good opportunity for the Sue
- 13:34Speaker 1: and he really bounced back. After a very quiet game,
- 13:37Speaker 1: one but two nothing lead for the Rangers. The fourth
- 13:40Speaker 1: line shipping in there, and then that was sort of
- 13:43Speaker 1: when we saw a little bit of a change there.
- 13:45Speaker 1: Marco Magnosa is able to get get the goal there
- 13:48Speaker 1: to make it to one. I don't know, you know
- 13:51Speaker 1: what the Rangers were doing on this play, but they
- 13:54Speaker 1: had all five players almost down below the faceoff dot
- 13:57Speaker 1: and it left Marco Magnosa all alone for a breakaway
- 14:00Speaker 1: after Brady Smith was able to get it up there
- 14:02Speaker 1: and the first of I believe four or five breakaways
- 14:05Speaker 1: that the Sue Greyhounds had in the second period. But
- 14:07Speaker 1: mcnasa gets some a big goal at the time, But
- 14:09Speaker 1: I'm still scratching my head about what the five man
- 14:11Speaker 1: unit for the Rangers was doing out there.
- 14:13Speaker 3: Yeah, you know what, It's funny because that five man
- 14:16Speaker 3: unit for the Rangers was he O'Reilly line, o'reiley, Prittam
- 14:18Speaker 3: Edward's Namanoski and Wooly were on the ice, top top
- 14:21Speaker 3: pairing defense in your top forward line, uh miscommunicating there
- 14:25Speaker 3: more on the defensive end. That's a name and Oski
- 14:27Speaker 3: Woollly issue. And we saw that at points in the contest,
- 14:30Speaker 3: Brandon where it felt like that was a type of
- 14:37Speaker 3: that was the type of type of period where the
- 14:40Speaker 3: Rangers had fits on the back end. You saw the
- 14:45Speaker 3: Greyhounds get behind the get behind the Ranger defense, and
- 14:49Speaker 3: you saw the you saw the Rangers get on their
- 14:51Speaker 3: heels a little bit in that situation. I just saw
- 14:53Speaker 3: a miscommunication in the D zone, uh or in the
- 14:56Speaker 3: O zone all of a sudden the transition team. Hey,
- 14:59Speaker 3: teams are looking at stretch ice out all the time.
- 15:02Speaker 3: Every breakout you see it. Teams are looking for the
- 15:05Speaker 3: quick cups, trying to catch teams on their heels, catch
- 15:07Speaker 3: teams off changes and so on like that. Right, any
- 15:11Speaker 3: given into the postseason is a big one, and that's
- 15:14Speaker 3: just what the Greyhounds took advantage of their miscommunication.
- 15:17Speaker 1: And then the Rangers get their power play goal. It's
- 15:19Speaker 1: Christian Humphries. It was originally awarded to Samue O'Reilly and
- 15:23Speaker 1: frustrating in front of the net, but it just went
- 15:24Speaker 1: went straight in. Humphreys had a nice pump fake to
- 15:28Speaker 1: have to get the d man a little bit moving
- 15:30Speaker 1: there from the left circle. He cut down and he
- 15:32Speaker 1: got him to bite and then just kind of beat
- 15:34Speaker 1: Carter George. I think that's one that George would want
- 15:36Speaker 1: back because it was originally given to o'reiley on the tip,
- 15:39Speaker 1: but no, it just went straight in to give the Rangers.
- 15:41Speaker 4: A three to one lead.
- 15:42Speaker 1: But things that's when things started to turn call, and
- 15:45Speaker 1: I mentioned the breakaways and Christian Kersh I know his
- 15:47Speaker 1: stat line isn't going to be fantastic tonight, only twenty
- 15:51Speaker 1: six of thirty one. But in this second period, the
- 15:54Speaker 1: Sue Greyhounds had five breakaways, four or five that really
- 15:58Speaker 1: could have changed the game or way worse because the
- 16:01Speaker 1: Greyhounds end up getting three unanswered goals. Marco Magnosa gets
- 16:04Speaker 1: a second of the game to make it three to two.
- 16:07Speaker 1: I don't know, you know, way too much room by
- 16:09Speaker 1: the Rangers defenders to just let him cut.
- 16:12Speaker 4: All the way down.
- 16:13Speaker 1: I don't really know what that collapse system was about,
- 16:15Speaker 1: but it allowed to MiG Nosa to get his second
- 16:18Speaker 1: goal of the game. Chase Reid Brady Martin gets his
- 16:20Speaker 1: only point of the series so far to make it
- 16:22Speaker 1: three to two. And then that's when excuse me to
- 16:27Speaker 1: make it the three to two for the Kitchener Rangers,
- 16:30Speaker 1: and then the Sue Greyhounds tie at three to three.
- 16:32Speaker 1: A points shot from Winkelhoffer off the face off Jeremy
- 16:35Speaker 1: Martin tipped it over top of Christian Kersh and right
- 16:38Speaker 1: like that, in two minutes and fifty seconds, it's a
- 16:41Speaker 1: three to three hockey game.
- 16:43Speaker 3: Yeah, you know when that's how momentum chefts swing in
- 16:46Speaker 3: the postseason, right, those are gonna happen. And I think
- 16:49Speaker 3: that that's one of those things with the when you
- 16:50Speaker 3: look at what the what the Greyhounds, right, you got
- 16:53Speaker 3: you got on the Ranger defense, you have to play
- 16:56Speaker 3: with pace against the Kitchener Rangers. When I look at
- 16:59Speaker 3: their defense here so far over the season, they're a
- 17:02Speaker 3: team that is good when they're under control, no kidding,
- 17:05Speaker 3: calling that's going to happen. And obviously that's a simple thing.
- 17:09Speaker 3: But when you play simple, fast hockey against the Rangers,
- 17:14Speaker 3: especially the defense, that's when they're kind of on their
- 17:16Speaker 3: heels a little bit. You saw it when the Rangers
- 17:20Speaker 3: pace control up front. They look really good this year.
- 17:23Speaker 3: They look like one of the best teams in the league.
- 17:25Speaker 3: But when you get on their defense, when you play
- 17:27Speaker 3: with pacey, you can see the vulnerability in the way
- 17:32Speaker 3: they play the game. You can see it. And I
- 17:34Speaker 3: think that that's something there with the that the Rangers
- 17:36Speaker 3: have to address here as the postseason continues on for
- 17:39Speaker 3: the Rangers. But that's one thing for the Rangers that
- 17:41Speaker 3: they could work on. That's something here throughout the postseason,
- 17:45Speaker 3: those little shifts, those little periods sometimes it's a period,
- 17:50Speaker 3: those five to ten minutes. Can they play a complete sixty?
- 17:53Speaker 3: That's all I guess I'm trying to say it. They
- 17:54Speaker 3: can play a complete sixty instead of playing forty at
- 17:58Speaker 3: a sixty minutes or fifty at a sixty minutes. Can
- 17:59Speaker 3: they play because those little ten minute labs have cost
- 18:04Speaker 3: them this year in the limited games they've cost because
- 18:07Speaker 3: they've been spectacular since the deadline. But those have been
- 18:10Speaker 3: the issues when you look at the Kitchener Rangers, Brandon,
- 18:12Speaker 3: those have been the issues when they lose games but
- 18:16Speaker 3: they haven't done often, or when they give up when
- 18:18Speaker 3: they have a bad period. You look at it and
- 18:21Speaker 3: it's always been the same thing with the Rangers. That
- 18:24Speaker 3: credit to them, they haven't had a full game like that.
- 18:26Speaker 3: That's why they're being successful. But that's one thing to
- 18:29Speaker 3: me with the Rangers that they need to address here
- 18:31Speaker 3: as they continue off here in the postseason.
- 18:34Speaker 1: Then o'reiley goes off for a cross check and it's
- 18:37Speaker 1: offsetting minors to Adonofsky and Martin as you mentioned there,
- 18:41Speaker 1: you know Martin and Ananofsky. That sort of maybe is
- 18:43Speaker 1: the game plan there for him to try to shut
- 18:46Speaker 1: down or get into the skin of Brady Martin. Andanofsky
- 18:49Speaker 1: gets the extra too. He gets called for four minutes
- 18:51Speaker 1: on that one. So it gives the Greyhounds and early
- 18:55Speaker 1: power play in the third period, and they're able to
- 18:57Speaker 1: take advantage of the fresh ice make the so finds
- 19:00Speaker 1: Mackenzie standing in the blue paint in the redirection on
- 19:02Speaker 1: the five on four and the Greyhounds take a four
- 19:05Speaker 1: to three lead fifty three seconds into that into that
- 19:09Speaker 1: third period. And it could have been a lot worse because,
- 19:12Speaker 1: as I mentioned, Kursh coming up with some big breakaway
- 19:14Speaker 1: saves in the second.
- 19:15Speaker 3: Yeah, no, he was great in the second. He came
- 19:17Speaker 3: up when they needed him. He came up and made
- 19:19Speaker 3: some big staves to the Rangers for sure.
- 19:23Speaker 1: And then yeah, that goal by Mackenzie to get them
- 19:25Speaker 1: the four to three lead. Three minutes later, Dylan Edwards
- 19:29Speaker 1: gets the Rangers second power play marker. They were perfect
- 19:31Speaker 1: on the man advantage tonight with both goals. Dylan Edwards
- 19:35Speaker 1: is able to get this one. As I'm trying to
- 19:37Speaker 1: find it in my notes here, there's there were so
- 19:38Speaker 1: much going on here that I've got like a mountain
- 19:42Speaker 1: of notes here for the there it is so yeah,
- 19:45Speaker 1: Brady Martin went off for slashing. Edwards wristed one from
- 19:48Speaker 1: the right circle over top of Carter George to make
- 19:50Speaker 1: it four to four. And we have been texting about
- 19:52Speaker 1: the game and I do ask U see hogus about
- 19:54Speaker 1: Dylan Edwards and what he's mentionin it's coming over from
- 19:56Speaker 1: the ariaters. What a pickup he's been so far for Kitchener.
- 20:01Speaker 3: Yeah, no, I texted you about it. This year has
- 20:03Speaker 3: been I don't remember a year in the Antario Hockey
- 20:06Speaker 3: League where there's been so many players get traded and
- 20:09Speaker 3: you look at the trades and it's like, huh, okay,
- 20:11Speaker 3: it's a trade. What's going on here? And then you
- 20:14Speaker 3: look at it and it's like, wow, this player is
- 20:16Speaker 3: becoming a really good player this year in the HL.
- 20:18Speaker 3: Like if there's an All Star game, Dylan Edwards is
- 20:20Speaker 3: an All Star. He went from possibly being an All
- 20:22Speaker 3: Star the Entario Hockey League to being in the top
- 20:25Speaker 3: end of the league here talented, talent wise, I mean,
- 20:28Speaker 3: he's been great and all around the league. We have
- 20:32Speaker 3: saw this this year. There's been so many trades. There's
- 20:34Speaker 3: been a few with the eerie otters specifically that players
- 20:38Speaker 3: of why Elsewhere have come to Erie and have played
- 20:41Speaker 3: incredible in the year. And Dylan Edwards is one of
- 20:44Speaker 3: those guys who goes to the Rangers and has just
- 20:47Speaker 3: lit it right up for the Rangers. I mean, he's
- 20:50Speaker 3: got to love you say, hocus and the way they
- 20:52Speaker 3: have them playing there in the system, I mean, what
- 20:54Speaker 3: a dream. I mean, Sam O'Reilly and Jack Pridam on
- 20:57Speaker 3: your line, I mean, sign me up right.
- 21:00Speaker 1: That doesn't spot doesn't get much better than that. But
- 21:04Speaker 1: then the last I guess positive moment for the Greyhounds,
- 21:07Speaker 1: and it was when they took a five to four lead.
- 21:09Speaker 1: But wow, did not expect us from Jared Woolly threw
- 21:11Speaker 1: a meatball right up the middle of the ice. Jeremy
- 21:13Speaker 1: Martin picked it off, goes fourhand on kersh You know
- 21:15Speaker 1: you don't expect that from number fifty one a lot
- 21:17Speaker 1: because of you know where he comes from the program.
- 21:20Speaker 1: He's an LA Kings, pretty highly touted prospect, comes from
- 21:24Speaker 1: a good system in London.
- 21:25Speaker 4: Has been playing.
- 21:26Speaker 1: Him and Amdanofski have been the shutdown pair and done
- 21:29Speaker 1: a good job for the most part against us due
- 21:31Speaker 1: Greyhound's top line, but just a mental error there and
- 21:34Speaker 1: it cost him the goal and the Sue Greyhounds got
- 21:36Speaker 1: five to four in this game.
- 21:38Speaker 3: Yeah, you know what, it's one of those things where
- 21:40Speaker 3: for Woalie that he probably wants that back. But when
- 21:43Speaker 3: you look at when you look at the way, like
- 21:46Speaker 3: I said, the Rangers defense, they got a big defense.
- 21:49Speaker 3: Cor you got to get inside on him. You have
- 21:51Speaker 3: to get inside on him, make them feel uncomfortable. If
- 21:54Speaker 3: you can speed the game up against their defense, get
- 21:56Speaker 3: inside on him, get shifty with them. The Greyhounds have
- 22:00Speaker 3: a chance that they can do that. If not, tip
- 22:02Speaker 3: your cap to the Rangers and hey, but that's one
- 22:04Speaker 3: of those passes obviously Jared what would want back. But hey,
- 22:06Speaker 3: when I like I mentioned, if you look at the
- 22:08Speaker 3: if you look at the Rangers, that's what you're gonna
- 22:10Speaker 3: beat the defense. It's been whenever there's things going against
- 22:13Speaker 3: the Rangers, and like I mentioned, there hasn't been a
- 22:16Speaker 3: lot that has went against the Rangers. But when when
- 22:19Speaker 3: it has, it's because the gap controls, because the forwards
- 22:22Speaker 3: hard on the defense, and you're gonna get odd man
- 22:25Speaker 3: rushes against the Rangers. You're gonna get opportunity against the
- 22:27Speaker 3: Rangers d in on their goaltending. If you can make
- 22:31Speaker 3: them uncomfortable, that's the name of the game against the Rangers.
- 22:33Speaker 1: D Tanner Lamb was able to pick up the loose
- 22:36Speaker 1: puck and fire it over the blocker side of Carter
- 22:40Speaker 1: George at the eight to sixteen mark of the third
- 22:42Speaker 1: period to get that game tied. The the odd was
- 22:44Speaker 1: rocking at that point. You know, just a broken play,
- 22:47Speaker 1: but a good good job by Tanner Lamb getting in
- 22:49Speaker 1: a good scoring opportunity his second to second goal of
- 22:52Speaker 1: the playoffs and then Dylan Edwards. As we mentioned earlier,
- 22:55Speaker 1: what a four way passing play this was. Samuel Riley
- 22:59Speaker 1: enters the zone, he finds Jared Woolley, who finds Jack
- 23:02Speaker 1: Pridham beside the net. You wonder, why isn't the forty
- 23:05Speaker 1: six goal scorer taking a shot from there? But he
- 23:08Speaker 1: makes the perfect cross crease pass to Dylan Edwards and
- 23:11Speaker 1: he makes no mistake for his fourth of the playoffs,
- 23:13Speaker 1: second of the game. And what a beauty that was
- 23:16Speaker 1: that That was a fantastic four way passing play by
- 23:19Speaker 1: the Rangers to really steal this game.
- 23:21Speaker 3: Oh man, I mean that was nasty and you saw
- 23:25Speaker 3: the crowd get into it. That's why I said you
- 23:27Speaker 3: can't sleep against this team. They're they're loaded. I mean
- 23:32Speaker 3: they got every when they got everything click and they're
- 23:34Speaker 3: one of the most dangerous teams in the Entrail Hockey League,
- 23:36Speaker 3: no doubt. There's a reason why they were a first
- 23:37Speaker 3: place in the Western Conference. This Rangers teams dangerous. I mean,
- 23:41Speaker 3: the skill on that line is bound to happen.
- 23:45Speaker 1: And then we had samuel'riley, who you know, the fans
- 23:48Speaker 1: thought it was his hatchrick goal, but they had changed
- 23:51Speaker 1: that goal earlier that was given to him to back
- 23:53Speaker 1: the Christian Humphrey. Soe technically this is only a second
- 23:56Speaker 1: goal of the game or third if you want to
- 23:58Speaker 1: say that. He did tip that Christian Humphrey shot in,
- 24:00Speaker 1: but he's able to get the empty netter there and
- 24:04Speaker 1: you know, just seal it. But I know you kind
- 24:07Speaker 1: of wanted to talk about it because Sue called their
- 24:10Speaker 1: time out with two minutes and forty or they went
- 24:12Speaker 1: to a power play with two minutes and forty five
- 24:14Speaker 1: seconds left in this game, as the Rangers went for
- 24:18Speaker 1: too many men. They didn't pull the goalie till the
- 24:21Speaker 1: minute fifty two mark. And yeah, shortly after that O'Reilly
- 24:25Speaker 1: gets the empty netter. You said that right away after
- 24:29Speaker 1: that penalty was called, and then John Deane takes his
- 24:31Speaker 1: time out. Carter George should have been on the bench.
- 24:33Speaker 1: Should have been a six on four for the final
- 24:34Speaker 1: two forty five.
- 24:36Speaker 3: Well, definitely not the blue line. I mean I, like
- 24:38Speaker 3: I said, as a goaltender, I used to hate that
- 24:41Speaker 3: when the coach would tell me stand at the blue line.
- 24:43Speaker 3: Why I'm not gonna be Bobby or and play the pocket?
- 24:45Speaker 3: It comes back. I'm at the blue line, I'm right
- 24:47Speaker 3: beside the bench. What's that five feet difference make? Literally
- 24:51Speaker 3: I just gotta pivot in him on the bench. Like
- 24:55Speaker 3: I've never understood that. I've always thought the process here,
- 24:58Speaker 3: Let's go six guys against four on the face off.
- 25:03Speaker 3: Take the odds at the face off. Emphasis the face
- 25:05Speaker 3: off you call, and there's three things. The reason why
- 25:08Speaker 3: I like this, why I would pull the goaltender one
- 25:12Speaker 3: the face off? How do you win? You have to
- 25:14Speaker 3: win the face off to get an opportunity to get
- 25:16Speaker 3: set up. I love the chances on a six on four.
- 25:19Speaker 3: You get the extra wingers involved, you have a guy
- 25:22Speaker 3: fly out to the flank, you have two shot options.
- 25:25Speaker 3: If you come in, get the puck, you have three
- 25:27Speaker 3: on two inside. If the puck comes back out to
- 25:30Speaker 3: the point number two, you have a shot lane up
- 25:33Speaker 3: top with guys going toward the net out of a pile.
- 25:36Speaker 3: How many goals, Brandon, do we see in the postseason
- 25:39Speaker 3: get scored six on four? You saw it this afternoon
- 25:42Speaker 3: in North Bay, Adam Knox goll six on four off
- 25:44Speaker 3: a face off. And that's one of those six on
- 25:47Speaker 3: five off of face off. And that's one of those
- 25:50Speaker 3: things where you get the puck back to the point. Okay,
- 25:53Speaker 3: there's no shot lane. You have a flank going toward
- 25:56Speaker 3: the net, wide open downhill, get a shot there. You
- 26:00Speaker 3: have multiple options on the back door. If you go
- 26:02Speaker 3: to the flag, it gives yourself the most options to score,
- 26:05Speaker 3: settle the puck down, don't forget to breathe. It gives
- 26:09Speaker 3: you the most chances. Instead, what happens. You lose the
- 26:12Speaker 3: face off, you come down, you give up with a short,
- 26:14Speaker 3: you give up an empty that goal anyway, it doesn't
- 26:15Speaker 3: even matter. So why not just pull them? Why not
- 26:18Speaker 3: pull them? Give the extra man an opportunity, And hey,
- 26:22Speaker 3: why don't you trust your centers? If you're John Dene,
- 26:24Speaker 3: you call a time out, that's the given. If I'm
- 26:27Speaker 3: the Rangers, I'm saying they're pulling the goalie right now
- 26:29Speaker 3: because they call their time out. So, okay, we win
- 26:33Speaker 3: the draw, we get it clear, then they're bagged time
- 26:36Speaker 3: they skape back. Take the opportunity. Now take the opportunity now,
- 26:42Speaker 3: because now at the end of the game, Brandon, did
- 26:44Speaker 3: it really matter them pulling the goalie? No, so why
- 26:47Speaker 3: not just do it? Why not just do it majority
- 26:49Speaker 3: of the time and the numbers show it analytically pull
- 26:52Speaker 3: them earlier. I don't know why they didn't they call
- 26:55Speaker 3: a timeout. You had a lot going on on the bench,
- 26:59Speaker 3: I can tell you that much. On the Sue Greyhounds bench,
- 27:02Speaker 3: the amount of conversations going on, I can tell you
- 27:05Speaker 3: wond reason why that face off play got all messed up.
- 27:08Speaker 3: Way too many opinions going on there. And I've said
- 27:11Speaker 3: this all the time on the Ohl and sixty that
- 27:13Speaker 3: they that's why they're gonna get out coached. I've said
- 27:16Speaker 3: that a numerous times, and that's the situation there where
- 27:20Speaker 3: just slow the game down, breathe and obviously behind the
- 27:24Speaker 3: bench that's not a thing because I will never understand that.
- 27:29Speaker 3: I used to hate that. Nothing worse than put them
- 27:32Speaker 3: at the blue line, literally pivot five strides. You're on
- 27:35Speaker 3: the bench, not.
- 27:36Speaker 4: Even you got. You got Brady Martin taking the draw
- 27:39Speaker 4: to like I just don't big time.
- 27:40Speaker 3: You don't trust Brady Martin. You don't trust Brady Martin.
- 27:43Speaker 3: And you throw an extra man inside the wing. You
- 27:46Speaker 3: called a time out. It's a thirty second time out.
- 27:48Speaker 3: Everyone's rested.
- 27:49Speaker 4: You've got an offensive zonn draw.
- 27:51Speaker 3: And hey, and that's the way the Greyhounds night went.
- 27:54Speaker 3: We talked about their power play that was got awful today,
- 27:57Speaker 3: Like why is that? You have to have everyone involved?
- 28:01Speaker 3: You have to have everyone involved. And I hope that
- 28:04Speaker 3: for those listening, I hope that makes sense. When I
- 28:06Speaker 3: say you pull the goaltender, you have the extra guy
- 28:08Speaker 3: in the face off. You create havoc in the faceoff,
- 28:11Speaker 3: dot puck sneaks out to the point you have a
- 28:13Speaker 3: shot option there or you slow the game down. You
- 28:15Speaker 3: have a flank option to the right because there's a
- 28:18Speaker 3: left side face off, you have a one time shot
- 28:21Speaker 3: option on that side. Plus out of the scrum, you
- 28:24Speaker 3: have a backdoor option as well. You have three shot
- 28:26Speaker 3: opportunities most of the Interiro Hockey League teams that are
- 28:30Speaker 3: elite can execute this at a high level. You see
- 28:32Speaker 3: it all the time. Like I said, you watch the
- 28:34Speaker 3: Branford game this afternoon. You look at the play Jacob
- 28:38Speaker 3: Brian Adam here checked out of a knock right loa
- 28:40Speaker 3: to hide a flank boom. That's how you're going to
- 28:43Speaker 3: score in the postseason. I could not understand why they
- 28:46Speaker 3: didn't trust their guys there. And I know, if I'm
- 28:49Speaker 3: Brady Martin, I'm trusting them. If I'm the head coach
- 28:53Speaker 3: of the Greyhounds, I'm trusting I'm trusting Brady Martin, a
- 28:56Speaker 3: guy that's spent time with the Nashville Predators. This season,
- 29:00Speaker 3: he was living at Philip Forsburgh's house. I trust him.
- 29:04Speaker 3: I trust the future NHLer. I trust him with two
- 29:07Speaker 3: guys on his wing helping him out for a winger
- 29:09Speaker 3: win in the face off. When it's down to the
- 29:12Speaker 3: nitty gritty in the postseason late you need a big
- 29:14Speaker 3: o' zone draw, you're down one. I don't know. I'm
- 29:18Speaker 3: pulling the strings here. At least I'm going down with
- 29:20Speaker 3: a fight. But apparently that's not a thing right now.
- 29:23Speaker 1: O'reiley gets his third or fourth goal, if you want
- 29:26Speaker 1: to call it that, to have the rest of the
- 29:29Speaker 1: Kitchener Rangers hats fly onto the ice for the ones
- 29:32Speaker 1: that were already gone from the last goal, but that
- 29:35Speaker 1: was technically his empty netter eighth goal of the playoffs.
- 29:38Speaker 1: The last one he got was short handed as a
- 29:40Speaker 1: six on four and then he gets the icing on
- 29:42Speaker 1: the cake to make it an eight to five final.
- 29:45Speaker 1: Just wow, an offensive onslaught from the second period on
- 29:48Speaker 1: from both teams. That was twelve goals scored from the
- 29:51Speaker 1: second and third period. A fantastic hockey game. And again
- 29:55Speaker 1: the Sue Greyhounds had their opportunities in this game to
- 29:57Speaker 1: even the series one to one, but now it's two nothing.
- 29:59Speaker 1: Kitchen are going back to the Sue on Tuesday. The
- 30:02Speaker 1: three stars. Dylan Edwards gets first Star with two goals,
- 30:05Speaker 1: Marco Magnosa for the Greyhounds two goals to assist, and
- 30:08Speaker 1: Samuel Riley with the three goals performance. But there was
- 30:12Speaker 1: a ton of penalties in this game as well. But yeah,
- 30:15Speaker 1: eight five ends up as the final. And before we
- 30:17Speaker 1: hit the brake hall in I do want to mention
- 30:19Speaker 1: the play where Jared Woolley yank Travis Hayes out of
- 30:21Speaker 1: the net. He was kind of sitting underneath Christian Kersh
- 30:23Speaker 1: and he literally grabbed him by the back of the
- 30:26Speaker 1: back of the jersey and caller and pulled him out
- 30:28Speaker 1: of the net, taking the trashy old.
- 30:29Speaker 4: I guess yeah.
- 30:30Speaker 3: I know the Hayes family really well worked with Avery
- 30:32Speaker 3: Hayes for his couple of years in Hamilton that he
- 30:35Speaker 3: was there, and I know that to play with Travis
- 30:38Speaker 3: Hayes just trying to get under the skin. You know,
- 30:40Speaker 3: the Hayes family plays the game, they play hard, they
- 30:43Speaker 3: respect the game, and that's one of those plays there
- 30:46Speaker 3: where you look at Travis Hayes. He's in the net.
- 30:48Speaker 3: He's a hack of a player. He knows what he's
- 30:50Speaker 3: trying to do. He's trying to get under the skin.
- 30:51Speaker 3: A cursh you know, you're trying to It's the playoffs,
- 30:54Speaker 3: right in those little mind games. The gamesmanship is there.
- 30:57Speaker 3: I thought he could have moved a little bit. I
- 31:00Speaker 3: also thought the way they were tangled it was legit
- 31:03Speaker 3: as a goal. I mean, you're not leaving your blue paints.
- 31:05Speaker 3: So that's that's the one thing for Kersh. I mean,
- 31:09Speaker 3: he was in the right I mean for sure Hayes
- 31:11Speaker 3: knows what he's doing when he's in the blue paint
- 31:13Speaker 3: like that.
- 31:13Speaker 1: So we got through the scoring summary a five final
- 31:16Speaker 1: in favor of the Kitchener Rangers and they will take
- 31:18Speaker 1: a two to nothing series lead. Going back up to Sue,

- 34:20Speaker 1: reels and content. Colin Yes, it's it's always great to
- 34:24Speaker 1: hear the radio voice of the London Knights, Mike Stubbs,
- 34:28Speaker 1: even though the London Knights are not in the second
- 34:30Speaker 1: round this year, very rare for that organization. And I know,
- 34:34Speaker 1: you know, things didn't turn out well for the Rangers
- 34:36Speaker 1: against the London last year, but you know they get
- 34:39Speaker 1: a great piece of Sam O'Reilly another one in Jared Woolley,
- 34:42Speaker 1: and yeah, they're they're often running here up two Oho
- 34:46Speaker 1: in the second round. I know that that Flint and
- 34:49Speaker 1: Windsor's gonna be a gauntlet to be able to possibly
- 34:51Speaker 1: face Kitchener in the Western Conference final, but it looks
- 34:54Speaker 1: like we're setting up for quite the match up here
- 34:57Speaker 1: as we wrap up getting to the finals the West.
- 35:01Speaker 3: Yeah, no, it's gonna be great. I mean, I think
- 35:03Speaker 3: both series are definitely not over. Yeah they're two to oh,
- 35:06Speaker 3: but man, these have been a fight. These have been
- 35:08Speaker 3: one goal of games in the herd of hockey games, right,
- 35:10Speaker 3: Like when you look at the thick of the games
- 35:12Speaker 3: and then when the games have gone, they've been competitive.
- 35:15Speaker 3: These games. They may look one sided right now in
- 35:18Speaker 3: the series being a two oh, but like I said,
- 35:20Speaker 3: it's one game, right now it's not They didn't. The
- 35:23Speaker 3: Greyhounds didn't lose a series tonight. The Rangers didn't win
- 35:26Speaker 3: this series tonight. They're one game too, they're up too
- 35:27Speaker 3: to Oh. You're not out of a series until you
- 35:29Speaker 3: lose at home. And I think that for the Flint
- 35:32Speaker 3: Firebirds and for the Sue Greyhounds, you can sleep well
- 35:36Speaker 3: tonight knowing that the Greyhounds obviously aren't gonna sleep all
- 35:38Speaker 3: night for their power play being awful, and I don't
- 35:42Speaker 3: think the coaching decisions have been great. But other than that,
- 35:45Speaker 3: I think they you know, you can clean those up.
- 35:48Speaker 3: You got an opportunity, You have an opportunity, and it's
- 35:51Speaker 3: definitely not over. I know right now there's a lot
- 35:53Speaker 3: of talk online, Hey every series is two oh and
- 35:55Speaker 3: a three to zero. It's just like round one. This
- 35:58Speaker 3: is not over the series. You're just going to the
- 36:01Speaker 3: second venues now for three out of the fourth series.
- 36:04Speaker 3: You saw North Bay today with the effort they had
- 36:07Speaker 3: compared to the first two games in Branford. If that's
- 36:10Speaker 3: the opportunity, if other teams are gonna stop up like
- 36:12Speaker 3: that now as they get their home games, I don't
- 36:15Speaker 3: think it's gonna be all sweeps. Mike Hell, everybody's leading
- 36:18Speaker 3: on here online after the first two games zero all
- 36:21Speaker 3: being two to zero in the West.
- 36:23Speaker 1: And I know that the London Knights team is not
- 36:25Speaker 1: quite what it's been the last three years, but the
- 36:27Speaker 1: Sue Greyhounds did look impressive in that first round matchup,
- 36:30Speaker 1: you know, taking them down in five to five games.
- 36:32Speaker 1: It's never an easy thing for a Dale Hunter coach
- 36:35Speaker 1: team with the scheming and everything like that. And then
- 36:37Speaker 1: and Sue has to sort of get back to what
- 36:39Speaker 1: made them successful in that series.
- 36:41Speaker 3: Well they're out. They're out match right now too. That's
- 36:44Speaker 3: the thing, honestly. And props to the Greyhounds were trying
- 36:47Speaker 3: to with Sharon on the fourth line. Props for that
- 36:50Speaker 3: wait till they split up Magnosa and Martin. I know
- 36:52Speaker 3: that's crazy to say, but road games that's the only
- 36:56Speaker 3: time they got a chance against this Rangers team. They're
- 36:59Speaker 3: not winning the game in the auditorium right now with
- 37:02Speaker 3: the way they're lined up, the Rangers out match up
- 37:04Speaker 3: with them. You have to have a way to have
- 37:06Speaker 3: Martin and Magnosa have a shift against and I and
- 37:10Speaker 3: this is something to say against Cameron Reid, but you
- 37:12Speaker 3: have to have an opportunity. You have to make Woolly
- 37:15Speaker 3: and Amanovski go against one guy, not both guys. You
- 37:20Speaker 3: have to make their top two pairs play defense, not
- 37:24Speaker 3: just one. And right now, that's what it's been in
- 37:26Speaker 3: the series. The Rangers has been too easy at times,
- 37:29Speaker 3: and I know the Greyhounds have had chances. I know
- 37:31Speaker 3: tonight they dominated that part of the second period, but
- 37:34Speaker 3: like I said, the Rangers have done that all season.
- 37:37Speaker 3: There's been a moment in games where it's maybe in
- 37:39Speaker 3: ten minutes, it might have been a period, but there's
- 37:41Speaker 3: been times where they haven't played a full sixty. That's
- 37:44Speaker 3: the Achilles heel for the Rangers, and that still wasn't
- 37:48Speaker 3: enough for the Greyhounds. So that's why I say with
- 37:50Speaker 3: the matchup, you say Hocus has notoriously been great in
- 37:53Speaker 3: his time so far in the Ential Hockey League at
- 37:56Speaker 3: utilizing the matchup, and that's what it comes down to.
- 37:59Speaker 3: In the postseason, home advantage is so crucial, and that's
- 38:02Speaker 3: something there where you look at the matchup. Last change
- 38:05Speaker 3: is massive and right now, the Greyhounds had no answer
- 38:09Speaker 3: for that. In the big part of the games and
- 38:11Speaker 3: big moments, there's been nothing out of the Greyhounds. One
- 38:14Speaker 3: for six on the power play speaks everything about that.
- 38:16Speaker 1: And I look at the second line for the Kitchener
- 38:19Speaker 1: Rangers and they're not putting up the points with the Humphries,
- 38:22Speaker 1: Romano and Sharrot line three NHL drafted players, and I
- 38:25Speaker 1: know they gave up a ton to get Sharrot more
- 38:27Speaker 1: as a you know, shut down two way type of players,
- 38:30Speaker 1: not gonna put up massive amounts of points, even though
- 38:32Speaker 1: people were sort of wondering the amount of picks they
- 38:34Speaker 1: gave up, but Kitchener obviously identified him as a player
- 38:37Speaker 1: that they wanted. But that line, I know Humphries has
- 38:39Speaker 1: a goal and assist, but both were on the power play.
- 38:41Speaker 1: But that line doesn't have points. But they're able to
- 38:44Speaker 1: contribute in other ways as you mentioned, just being able
- 38:47Speaker 1: to have the four check to be able to shut
- 38:49Speaker 1: down those top two lines of Sue, and you're gonna
- 38:51Speaker 1: be more successful than not at times, because I just
- 38:53Speaker 1: I don't know if the depth of the Sue Greyhounds
- 38:55Speaker 1: is enough to outmatch the depth of the Kitchener Rangers.
- 38:58Speaker 1: And for their second line right now, of humph Romano
- 39:00Speaker 1: and Sharrot, they're not allowing them a whole lot.
- 39:03Speaker 3: No, absolutely, I mean they've been great. I mean they
- 39:05Speaker 3: have been great. Talk about talk about Sharrot, right like,
- 39:09Speaker 3: this is the guy that I saw come up here
- 39:10Speaker 3: in his draft here with Branford ninety nine ers. He
- 39:14Speaker 3: was on that good team Lucas Krmiras Braid mccallumeric van
- 39:16Speaker 3: Acker that team and gave Sharatt played online with Americ
- 39:21Speaker 3: van Acker and h Lucas Carmiras right like, and he
- 39:25Speaker 3: wasn't out to place. He was huge on that line
- 39:27Speaker 3: on the wing. And I think that that that speaks
- 39:30Speaker 3: volumes to who he is as a player, who he
- 39:32Speaker 3: can play with. He plays a great defensive role. That's
- 39:35Speaker 3: kind of what you're appreciating of him. And if he
- 39:37Speaker 3: can get points and he can get goals, that's great.
- 39:41Speaker 3: We talked about with Josh Brown when he came on
- 39:43Speaker 3: the Ohl Pod a couple of weeks back, and we
- 39:46Speaker 3: spoke about that Brandon, where about, Hey, you know, if
- 39:49Speaker 3: Gabe Sharrock can get scoring, that's a bonus. But how
- 39:52Speaker 3: good he's been defensively. I mean, that's why you win
- 39:55Speaker 3: in the postseason. If he can and if he can defend,
- 39:58Speaker 3: he's got that's gonna be incredible for him. That's and
- 40:00Speaker 3: that's gonna help the Rangers.
- 40:01Speaker 1: Let's get to Rangers head coach. You see a hocus
- 40:04Speaker 1: was his postgame thoughts, and we'll come back and discuss it.
- 40:07Speaker 1: So here his Rangers head coach, you see hocus on
- 40:10Speaker 1: his team's eight five victory in Game two of the
- 40:12Speaker 1: Western Conference second round.
- 40:14Speaker 6: Thanks for your ring side with Rangers head coach, you
- 40:16Speaker 6: see a hocus. You see what a game we've just
- 40:18Speaker 6: been treated to you here at the kitchen with more
- 40:20Speaker 6: alaudatorium tonight. And your guys showed a lot of determination
- 40:23Speaker 6: to come from behind in a huge third period offensively.
- 40:27Speaker 7: Yeah, junior hockey. I thought first period we played played good.
- 40:33Speaker 7: Of course, we have plenty of chances there. It was
- 40:37Speaker 7: the tight period like I thought it would be. Uh second,
- 40:41Speaker 7: we just made mistakes. Well we normally don't. We don't
- 40:43Speaker 7: give up usually that kind of break oise he got
- 40:46Speaker 7: on a little bit of mental errors. We are. We
- 40:49Speaker 7: were over offense and made big mistakes where usually we
- 40:53Speaker 7: don't do that. So but all and all, after that,
- 40:57Speaker 7: we came back and we had a bad like I
- 41:00Speaker 7: thought we played, we didn't. We had chances in the second,
- 41:03Speaker 7: but those kind of mistakes we we just don't do usually.
- 41:06Speaker 7: That's just well that's junior hockey. Third period, even though
- 41:11Speaker 7: they got the parer play goal there, it was seven
- 41:14Speaker 7: to power plays actually for them, Matt's quite funny shots
- 41:18Speaker 7: thirty eight to thirty and they had seven too, but
- 41:20Speaker 7: I guess the reps. Colt did a good job there,
- 41:24Speaker 7: but uh it was seven too. Yeah, that's so funny,
- 41:27Speaker 7: but it is what it is. And but our boys
- 41:30Speaker 7: so termination and we came back and great goals there
- 41:34Speaker 7: and uh yeah, but it's a tight series. Fifteen minutes.
- 41:36Speaker 7: You have to have the short memory and and doesday
- 41:40Speaker 7: we go again.
- 41:41Speaker 6: We talked a little bit about that determination and it
- 41:43Speaker 6: was really on display when especially your guys were down
- 41:46Speaker 6: five on three.
- 41:48Speaker 7: Well yeah, it's uh they had actually two flave on trees.
- 41:51Speaker 7: That's quite special. I haven't seen that in playoffs ever,
- 41:54Speaker 7: but but it happens, and guys were guys were doing
- 41:58Speaker 7: a great job, great job killing and blocks and yeah,
- 42:01Speaker 7: that's uh, BG did a great job.
- 42:04Speaker 1: You've been able to hold Brady Martin to one secondary
- 42:06Speaker 1: assist in the series. That's sort of a game plan there.
- 42:08Speaker 1: Make sure you limit forty four's opportunities in the series.
- 42:12Speaker 7: Not really. No, he's a good player. Of course, we
- 42:14Speaker 7: know he's one of one of the Who's best players
- 42:16Speaker 7: and uh, all of them all lived there any any
- 42:20Speaker 7: any team who has good players, you want to eliminate them.
- 42:22Speaker 7: But it's so that's how it goes. Uh, sagon I
- 42:25Speaker 7: had a great clap off and brought them there. Their
- 42:28Speaker 7: first line was really good, and uh, that's just how
- 42:31Speaker 7: it goes.
- 42:32Speaker 4: And you talked about that second period.
- 42:34Speaker 1: Four breakaways given up there, Obviously that's something you want
- 42:37Speaker 1: to clean up. Seem like in a third period you
- 42:38Speaker 1: were a lot better in the defensive structure. What did
- 42:40Speaker 1: you maybe change from that second to third to make
- 42:42Speaker 1: you guys successful there with four unanswered.
- 42:44Speaker 7: Yeah, it's our first period. Also, we played well, we
- 42:47Speaker 7: didn't give up much. No, you just don't like it's
- 42:51Speaker 7: those are from our fuck mistakes or over over over
- 42:57Speaker 7: offense and you just don't want to do that.
- 43:00Speaker 4: Now.
- 43:01Speaker 1: What can you say abou Dylan Edwards, Since he's come
- 43:02Speaker 1: over to your team a couple of big goals tonight
- 43:05Speaker 1: as well, what does he add to this group and
- 43:07Speaker 1: really make you.
- 43:08Speaker 7: Guys as an overager, he has a lot of skill
- 43:11Speaker 7: great player, great person. I don't know for our team,
- 43:14Speaker 7: so yeah, he's he's been really good at And.
- 43:17Speaker 1: Then lastly, uh, talk about being able to fly up
- 43:20Speaker 1: to soon now a little bit of an advantage there
- 43:22Speaker 1: because of games four and five being a back to back.
- 43:24Speaker 1: Is that something that you guys talked about being able
- 43:26Speaker 1: to get up there in a quicker, quicker trip and
- 43:28Speaker 1: quicker commute.
- 43:29Speaker 7: Yes, I think if you're U, that's just shows organization
- 43:33Speaker 7: that we're serious.
- 43:35Speaker 1: There was Kitchener Rangers head coach you see a hocus
- 43:38Speaker 1: on the post game after their eight five victory in
- 43:41Speaker 1: game two callin uh oh. I just I don't know
- 43:45Speaker 1: if it's the the Finnish, the language there and the
- 43:50Speaker 1: you know, the accent, but I just love the way
- 43:52Speaker 1: that he talked about the officiating. I don't know if
- 43:54Speaker 1: he was uh or what that was, but it was
- 43:57Speaker 1: definitely entertaining. He said he's never seen anything like that
- 43:59Speaker 1: with the you know, maybe the amount of penalties that
- 44:02Speaker 1: went against his team tonight. But what were your takeaways
- 44:04Speaker 1: from what you see Hoogas said there?
- 44:07Speaker 3: Yeah, you know, definitely a little bit of a smart
- 44:08Speaker 3: ass there, for sure. You might have edited that part
- 44:11Speaker 3: out Brandon, But uh, for those live a it's after eleven?
- 44:15Speaker 4: Good that right?
- 44:16Speaker 3: Yeah, I have a couple of ginger ales. Uh No,
- 44:19Speaker 3: I I think that.
- 44:21Speaker 7: Uh.
- 44:22Speaker 3: I thought that, you know, there were some calls that
- 44:25Speaker 3: were legit, I would say more unlikely. I would think
- 44:29Speaker 3: the power players would be five to two in that
- 44:31Speaker 3: game for legitimate calls. So two were kind of in
- 44:35Speaker 3: favor of the Greyhounds. I thought that weren't legit, but
- 44:37Speaker 3: the other other five were. So you're still five two
- 44:42Speaker 3: in a way. But I get the point. I get
- 44:43Speaker 3: the point what you're trying to say, you still out
- 44:44Speaker 3: shoot them? I yeah, you know, you know, shoot them
- 44:48Speaker 3: thirty eight thirty one. The power plays were six to
- 44:52Speaker 3: one actually in the contest. That's that, you know, it's hey,
- 44:58Speaker 3: it's a you don't see that too in the playoffs.
- 45:02Speaker 3: He's right about that. But at the same point, hey,
- 45:06Speaker 3: you got to keep your composure. It's the points too.
- 45:08Speaker 3: You can't you can't tell me that that that Amanovski
- 45:11Speaker 3: shouldn't have got the extra two in that when he
- 45:13Speaker 3: grabbed Martin and literally like I was actually waiting for
- 45:18Speaker 3: Martin to get nothing on the play and just the
- 45:19Speaker 3: two Like I don't actually know. I actually don't know
- 45:22Speaker 3: what Brady Martin did. He didn't run, No, he didn't
- 45:26Speaker 3: really do anything. So that kind of surprised me a
- 45:28Speaker 3: little bit on that matter, to be honest, I thought
- 45:32Speaker 3: the Rangers got lucky there that Martin was off the ice.
- 45:35Speaker 3: That's a huge trade off, so he knows what it is.
- 45:39Speaker 3: But I think in this way, there's a lot of
- 45:41Speaker 3: gamesmanship going on in this series right now. And you
- 45:44Speaker 3: say a hocus knows that, Hey, people are listening, leagues listening,
- 45:49Speaker 3: officiating chiefs are listening, off ice officials are listening. So
- 45:54Speaker 3: things like that, you know it's out there. It's a
- 45:56Speaker 3: gamesmanship any any given in trade. You're trying to win
- 45:59Speaker 3: it all at all calls. That's like you mentioned with
- 46:01Speaker 3: the plane right at the Sue right, that's pretty cool.
- 46:05Speaker 4: Yeah, he talked about just them being serious.
- 46:07Speaker 1: I guess with regards to them flying and then if
- 46:11Speaker 1: they do get back to game five, it's a back
- 46:12Speaker 1: to back, so you'd have to play Thursday night in
- 46:17Speaker 1: Sue and then fly back or drive back for the
- 46:20Speaker 1: game five in Kitchener, so it's a it's a quick turnaround.
- 46:23Speaker 1: I know Sue was a little bit upset or disappointed
- 46:25Speaker 1: about that, but you know that's what happens.
- 46:28Speaker 4: You don't have home ice advantage in the series.
- 46:31Speaker 3: Get home ice, get home ice, and then you don't
- 46:34Speaker 3: have to worry about it.
- 46:34Speaker 1: Yeah, Kitchener is the number one seed for a reason,
- 46:36Speaker 1: and I guess they get the advantage in that sense.
- 46:39Speaker 1: I don't know if there's anything else you wanted to
- 46:41Speaker 1: wanted to mention there about what what Ucy said, but
- 46:43Speaker 1: he just talked about, you know, just them finding a
- 46:47Speaker 1: way after a bad second period to be able to
- 46:49Speaker 1: come through. You know, he liked their first, like their third,
- 46:51Speaker 1: but just mistakes that they really want to get cleaned
- 46:55Speaker 1: up there in the second that allowed the Greyhounds back
- 46:57Speaker 1: into the game.
- 46:58Speaker 3: Yeah, I know, just kind of play a full sixty.
- 47:00Speaker 3: You just gotta find a way to play a full sixteen.
- 47:02Speaker 3: If you can do that, you'll be okay.
- 47:04Speaker 1: So we're gonna get forward with our player the game. Colin,
- 47:07Speaker 1: who is it gonna be from?
- 47:09Speaker 3: You know what?
- 47:10Speaker 4: Give us one from each?
- 47:12Speaker 3: Well, Marco magnos I thought was great today for the
- 47:14Speaker 3: Sue Greyhounds. I'm gonna give a four point game, even
- 47:18Speaker 3: plus minus rank rating. I'm gonna give him the start
- 47:22Speaker 3: of the game. For the Sue Greyhounds, I thought that that,
- 47:24Speaker 3: like you mentioned, they needed him in this game today,
- 47:27Speaker 3: and I thought he brought it all. I mean, you
- 47:28Speaker 3: can't ask her much more than that of him. Four
- 47:30Speaker 3: points in the contest for Marco Magnosa mother the Sue
- 47:33Speaker 3: Greyhounds on the wing of Brady Martin on that top line,
- 47:37Speaker 3: and for the Rangers, I'm gonna give to Dylan Edwards.
- 47:39Speaker 3: It's wild. I'm not gonna give it to Sam O'Reilly.
- 47:42Speaker 3: For those who listen to the Ohl and sixty podcasts
- 47:44Speaker 3: know that, Hey, I've been a huge sam O'Reilly id
- 47:47Speaker 3: by Dylan Edwards. I thought the timely goals today, it's
- 47:49Speaker 3: like a timely at bad in the postseason of baseball playoffs.
- 47:52Speaker 3: You need that big hit, you need that big shot,
- 47:54Speaker 3: you need that big goal. Dylan Edwards got it today.
- 47:59Speaker 3: You look at the power player, you look at the
- 48:00Speaker 3: game winning goal, right those are two big goals in
- 48:02Speaker 3: the third period that he scored that propelled the Rangers
- 48:05Speaker 3: to victory tonight. So I just thought that Dylan Edwards
- 48:08Speaker 3: was incredible and he's my player of the game for
- 48:10Speaker 3: the Rangers and Marco Bagnosa for the Sue Greyhounds.
- 48:13Speaker 1: I'm gonna give an honorable mention to Christian Kirshi's second
- 48:16Speaker 1: period where he made four breakaway saves.
- 48:18Speaker 3: That's yes, that's a given moment of a game where
- 48:22Speaker 3: you look back and hey, maybe that doesn't matter late
- 48:25Speaker 3: in the game. Right, Absolutely, you need to make those,
- 48:27Speaker 3: says Christian Kirsch. He probably he made five greade a
- 48:30Speaker 3: saves tonight I've written down he made five saves. It
- 48:32Speaker 3: should have been goals. I mean, Nech goes the other way, right,
- 48:35Speaker 3: you get rid of the empty neckals and you give
- 48:37Speaker 3: five extra goals and the Sue Greyhounds, right, Also, you
- 48:41Speaker 3: would think that Carter George would want to at least
- 48:43Speaker 3: one of those back, right, So interesting, it's it was
- 48:47Speaker 3: interesting for sure. I thought Kurts played great.
- 48:49Speaker 1: All right, Colin final thoughts, as this series is gonna
- 48:52Speaker 1: shift now to the Sue Greyhounds side of things. You
- 48:54Speaker 1: mentioned you're not in trouble till you lose one on
- 48:56Speaker 1: home ice, and Sue Greyhounds don't want to go down
- 48:59Speaker 1: three nothings. So Twoday night is going to be a
- 49:01Speaker 1: big one before that Thursday Friday turnaround between Game four
- 49:04Speaker 1: and five and they obviously want to be able to
- 49:06Speaker 1: be back at kitchen or for that game five. So
- 49:08Speaker 1: what do you need to see from Sue in the
- 49:09Speaker 1: le next two games here on home ice.
- 49:12Speaker 3: Gotta get inside their D and you gotta play with
- 49:13Speaker 3: Patriot full sixty. It's simple as that. You gotta play
- 49:16Speaker 3: with a full sixty. You gotta get inside their D.
- 49:18Speaker 3: I think get inside their D. I'm talking about Amadoski
- 49:20Speaker 3: and playing Woolley, those two of their top pair, their
- 49:23Speaker 3: shutdown pair. You're playing those, you're playing that pair. You
- 49:26Speaker 3: gotta get inside them. You gotta play with pace. I
- 49:27Speaker 3: don't know. I don't think they want to skate. I
- 49:29Speaker 3: think anything where you're trying to slow and they can
- 49:32Speaker 3: step up on you, that favors them, right, That favors them.
- 49:34Speaker 3: They're big defense, they play physical, they're good defense. They're
- 49:37Speaker 3: great in the enterial Hockey League for sure. But I
- 49:39Speaker 3: think you gotta play. The way you gotta play them
- 49:41Speaker 3: is you gotta get inside. You gotta be shifty with them.
- 49:43Speaker 3: You gotta get an uncomfortable situation with speed, and if
- 49:46Speaker 3: you can do that, you'll be successful.
- 49:48Speaker 1: Well, callin appreciate you, stay in line. Yeah, you got
- 49:51Speaker 1: it straight. Yeah, absolutely, and they got to get more
- 49:53Speaker 1: sustain zoned. I feel like there were too many like
- 49:56Speaker 1: one and Don's for the Greyhounds night, there wasn't enough
- 49:59Speaker 1: you know, sustains cycle game. I felt like for John
- 50:02Speaker 1: Dean's club.
- 50:04Speaker 3: They gotta stop being so east west and they gotta
- 50:06Speaker 3: be more direct around than that. Right. You can't be
- 50:07Speaker 3: going you can't be going through the legs like that, right,
- 50:10Speaker 3: like in front of the net. I understand it. Hey,
- 50:12Speaker 3: it's great for Instagram, I understand that. But Instagram doesn't
- 50:15Speaker 3: cut it when you're sitting in can Kun, right, So
- 50:18Speaker 3: I just think that, hey, you gotta be able to
- 50:20Speaker 3: play direct here in the postseason, and you gotta find
- 50:22Speaker 3: a way to score a grease egal and at the
- 50:24Speaker 3: end of the day, you gotta play north south here
- 50:27Speaker 3: to be successful in the postseason. You gotta be direct.
- 50:30Speaker 1: I'm far from can Kun right now in the cold
- 50:33Speaker 1: legendary kitchen or more laudatorium, and I'll be happy to
- 50:35Speaker 1: go home after this game. But Colin Ward from the
- 50:38Speaker 1: Ohl and sixty podcast, the podcast on the Bulldogs Audio Network,
- 50:41Speaker 1: callin appreciate you staying up tonight and giving the great
- 50:45Speaker 1: passionate analysis as always.
- 50:47Speaker 3: Thanks Brandon, appreciate it and get home safely.
- 50:50Speaker 1: Absolutely so, it's gonna wrap it up for today's OHL
- 50:53Speaker 1: overtime postgame recap. In Round two of the OHL Playoffs
- 50:56Speaker 1: between these Sue Greyhounds and the Kitchen Rangers in Game
- 50:59Speaker 1: two with the k Should Arrangers taking it by an
- 51:01Speaker 1: eight five, final series will shift to Sue Saint Marie
