Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: When you hit off with your mates and you just crack.
- 0:02Speaker 2: Gags get ready for it added a lot of color
- 0:04Speaker 2: humor time.
- 0:07Speaker 1: He went to boss level for barra's beards have some
- 0:10Speaker 1: of this bang.
- 0:14Speaker 3: Good morning barra good day maca yes it's uh it's
- 0:17Speaker 3: like christmas eve for some people isn't it yeah the
- 0:20Speaker 3: night before the grand final and I actually thought all
- 0:23Speaker 3: week I've been thinking, oh, Brizzy's going to win.
- 0:26Speaker 2: Too experienced. Dockers, young blokes could get overawed. Street parade
- 0:29Speaker 2: today about to start in Melbourne. The grand final parade,
- 0:33Speaker 2: the hype, the purple everywhere. 100,000 people.
- 0:36Speaker 1: Kylie.
- 0:37Speaker 2: You use a lot of energy, I can tell you,
- 0:40Speaker 2: having been through it.
- 0:40Speaker 1: But now it's going to be wet.
- 0:43Speaker 2: It's going to be a wet grand final. It's going
- 0:44Speaker 2: to make a difference, isn't it? And I think the
- 0:47Speaker 2: Dockers can win now. I think the weather will suit
- 0:50Speaker 2: Fremantle more than It doesn't suit Brisbane. They play that
- 0:53Speaker 2: big kick and mark game. And so it's actually not
- 0:57Speaker 2: going to be ideal for them. So I'm happy to
- 1:01Speaker 2: say the Dockers by five points. I think they can
- 1:04Speaker 2: get the job done.
- 1:05Speaker 1: What about you, Macca?
- 1:06Speaker 4: Look, I was talking to someone yesterday, Brisbane Lions supporter.
- 1:10Speaker 4: They're like Brisbane all the way. Obviously, as you said,
- 1:13Speaker 4: they have the experience. Fremantle, they missed out last time.
- 1:17Speaker 4: This time is their chance. In my heart of hearts,
- 1:21Speaker 4: I really hope they do get this one.
- 1:24Speaker 1: And that's from a Collingwood supporter.
- 1:25Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:27Speaker 1: You only hate the Eagles.
- 1:28Speaker 4: No, that's exactly right. But yeah, no, I think Dockers
- 1:32Speaker 4: should do this, especially it being wet.
- 1:34Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:35Speaker 2: Andy Brayshaw to win the Dockers' first Norm Smith medal too.
- 1:38Speaker 2: Not only because he's the world's best bloke, but he'll
- 1:41Speaker 2: be right in there. I reckon after the match, you'll
- 1:43Speaker 2: find out who's been injured. I reckon Josh Tracy is
- 1:46Speaker 2: carrying either a.
- 1:48Speaker 1: Shoulder or an elbow injury.
- 1:49Speaker 2: He hasn't been playing golf for a lot of months,
- 1:52Speaker 2: so there's something going on there. Because after the game,
- 1:55Speaker 2: that's what happened. Then Murphy Reid comes out and says, oh,
- 1:57Speaker 2: my groin injury is much worse than reported. He lost
- 2:00Speaker 2: a lot of confidence because when you get hit in
- 2:01Speaker 2: that vulnerable area, understandably, you're not that keen to go
- 2:05Speaker 2: back in.
- 2:06Speaker 5: No.
- 2:06Speaker 1: You know what I mean?
- 2:07Speaker 2: Even though he's wearing a sort of a box thing, like...
- 2:10Speaker 2: I'm not exposing myself to that pain again. And then
- 2:13Speaker 2: the Lockie Neal decision. What a bizarre decision it looks
- 2:16Speaker 2: like now. To miss a grand final, you're going to
- 2:18Speaker 2: have to really, really do something really serious. I mean,
- 2:21Speaker 2: that was a gut punch, no doubt about it. Your
- 2:25Speaker 2: Brizzy even asked, how's this? You'll love this as a
- 2:27Speaker 2: Collingwood fan. Brisbane, they started out by saying, look, suspending
- 2:32Speaker 2: for round one next year. I mean, a grand final
- 2:35Speaker 2: is way too much. Penalty is too big, you know,
- 2:38Speaker 2: to miss a grand final. And guess where he's going
- 2:40Speaker 2: to be next year?
- 2:41Speaker 5: Collingwood.
- 2:41Speaker 1: Playing for Collingwood.
- 2:43Speaker 5: So round one, we're going to miss him, are we?
- 2:45Speaker 2: It wouldn't affect Brisbane at all. So the appeal board
- 2:49Speaker 2: basically said, yeah, yeah, he gut punched him. But have
- 2:51Speaker 2: you seen how well behaved he's been otherwise?
- 2:54Speaker 5: What was that all about?
- 2:55Speaker 1: I mean, honestly, what?
- 2:57Speaker 2: He's been very good. They said exceptional and compelling circumstances.
- 3:01Speaker 2: That is that his exemplary record never suspended in 302 games.
- 3:05Speaker 2: He has been fined three times for striking, though. I
- 3:07Speaker 2: didn't mention that. So, basically, that's tribunal language for, look,
- 3:13Speaker 2: we know what he did, but he's Lockie Neal.
- 3:16Speaker 1: Come on. He's a dual Brownland medalist, a grand final.
- 3:18Speaker 1: Come on. Let's just let him off. Anyway, he did.
- 3:21Speaker 5: It feels like that, doesn't it?
- 3:22Speaker 1: I loved Rita Safioti.
- 3:24Speaker 2: I saw her at the final training session at Coburn,
- 3:29Speaker 2: and she was saying that she's very upset about how
- 3:31Speaker 2: many tickets were available for Dockers fans. And I found this, too.
- 3:35Speaker 2: this year's the most requests I've ever had for tickets
- 3:38Speaker 2: to the grand final. Like I've been to all the Eagles,
- 3:40Speaker 2: like four, four, four Eagles flag or five grand finals
- 3:44Speaker 2: and six, actually six. And this time the, the Dockers
- 3:49Speaker 2: fans only got 17 and a half thousand tickets, right?
- 3:52Speaker 2: And they've got 70,000 members. So you have one in
- 3:55Speaker 2: four chance really of getting a ticket.
- 3:57Speaker 1: It's just not right.
- 3:58Speaker 2: If they're going to make us go to over there
- 3:59Speaker 2: to play, how about you give us a chance to
- 4:02Speaker 2: actually go to the game as well? Like, So she's
- 4:05Speaker 2: doing some work on that. What about Oscar Allen too, eh?
- 4:08Speaker 2: Where's his decision to leave West Coast?
- 4:10Speaker 5: I know.
- 4:11Speaker 1: He's playing in the grand final. The captain of the Eagles.
- 4:14Speaker 5: How do you feel about that?
- 4:16Speaker 1: I feel strange. If I was playing on him, I'd
- 4:19Speaker 1: be letting him know as well.
- 4:20Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 4:21Speaker 2: The AFL's approved woofy time at the G2, so that's
- 4:24Speaker 2: going to be amazing. The one giant purple panic button,
- 4:26Speaker 2: you know, that they have. They get to use it
- 4:28Speaker 2: once after a goal, four minutes to go, something like that.
- 4:31Speaker 2: Imagine if that happens at the G. Well, that's going
- 4:33Speaker 2: to be a special occasion, isn't it? If that actually
- 4:35Speaker 2: gets played, it will be a special occasion. It can
- 4:38Speaker 2: only go for 30 seconds, but all of Victoria's about
- 4:40Speaker 2: to find out about it.
- 4:41Speaker 1: It's enormous.
- 4:42Speaker 2: And so it's our own little piece of Perth at
- 4:44Speaker 2: the MCG. Hell's bells, waves crashing, 30,000 West Aussies screaming.
- 4:51Speaker 1: And this.
- 4:52Speaker 5: This will pump everyone up.
- 4:58Speaker 1: I should be.
- 4:59Speaker 1: I should be so lucky to be the song winner.
- 5:02Speaker 1: Should we be doing that one?
- 5:03Speaker 5: She'll be doing plenty of them, I'm sure.
- 5:04Speaker 1: What's your first?
- 5:05Speaker 2: Your favourite's Locomotion, I heard.
- 5:08Speaker 5: Is that because I'm a Collingwood supporter?
- 5:10Speaker 1: Better the devil you know, actually.
- 5:11Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, sure. Sure, thanks.
- 5:13Speaker 2: Hey, just so you know, important information here for people
- 5:17Speaker 2: watching tomorrow. Someone called G Flip, he's on at 11.25.
- 5:21Speaker 5: Yo, yo.
- 5:21Speaker 1: Do you know G Flip?
- 5:23Speaker 5: I don't know him personally, but I have heard.
- 5:25Speaker 1: I have no clue.
- 5:26Speaker 2: The retirees' motorcade is 11.33, so Jamie Cripps will be there,
- 5:31Speaker 2: Famous Eagle, obviously Sidey, Sidebottom, one of your boys, all
- 5:35Speaker 2: the guys going around.
- 5:35Speaker 1: That's always super emotional.
- 5:37Speaker 2: I don't know, Sam Switkowski, when he's going to do his,
- 5:39Speaker 2: because this is his last game for the Dockers, his
- 5:42Speaker 2: last game in footy.
- 5:43Speaker 1: Yeah. Grand final.
- 5:44Speaker 5: This is it.
- 5:44Speaker 2: So he'll come back next year, I suppose. Then 11.39
- 5:47Speaker 2: is Kylie. So Kylie fans, write that down.
- 5:51Speaker 5: Should I be so lucky?
- 5:52Speaker 1: 11. Better the devil you know, of course. 11.39. 11.39.
- 5:56Speaker 2: And 11.33 is as the motorcade goes around of the retirees.
- 6:01Speaker 1: That's Mike Brady. What would he be singing, you reckon?
- 6:04Speaker 5: Up There, Kazaley.
- 6:05Speaker 1: Oh, really? Yeah.
- 6:06Speaker 5: Unless he's got a new song out I don't know about.
- 6:09Speaker 1: How much money has he made from Up There, Kazaley?
- 6:11Speaker 1: Greatest song, though.
- 6:12Speaker 2: Up There, Kazaley. You do it well. So 12.30, the
- 6:16Speaker 2: game starts too. So make sure you get out a
- 6:18Speaker 2: bit early. There's also a big game, big rugby game
- 6:21Speaker 2: in Perth on Sunday. So this has been incredible. The
- 6:24Speaker 2: Wallabies are playing the Springboks, right? So two of the
- 6:27Speaker 2: world's great teams.
- 6:28Speaker 5: It really has been overshadowed, hasn't it?
- 6:30Speaker 2: It's at Optus on Sunday. And the Dockers will be
- 6:33Speaker 2: coming back in. I think they might even be going
- 6:36Speaker 2: through Fremantle in an open top bus.
- 6:41Speaker 1: I think that might be their plan. Anyway.
- 6:44Speaker 2: The, um, so what a scheduling error putting, uh, the
- 6:47Speaker 2: Wallabies game on 24 hours after the Dockers grand final.
- 6:50Speaker 2: So I don't know what's going to happen there. Half
- 6:51Speaker 2: the city will still be wearing purple and the other
- 6:53Speaker 2: half will be hung over and purple glitter in their
- 6:56Speaker 2: hair if they do get there. So, uh, we have
- 6:58Speaker 2: got a Wallabies flanker from WA, Carlo Tisano, who's playing
- 7:01Speaker 2: as well. So a bit there and the Wildcats are playing.
- 7:05Speaker 2: Their season is underway.
- 7:06Speaker 1: Did you know that? No. It's a big game last night.
- 7:08Speaker 4: It's really, the whole, the whole Dockers purple army, like
- 7:12Speaker 4: the whole thing is just overshadowed.
- 7:14Speaker 1: The red army's just been overshadowed, haven't they? And the
- 7:16Speaker 1: blue army.
- 7:17Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 7:17Speaker 1: Yeah, the blue wave, whatever they call it, the force.
- 7:20Speaker 2: The Perth Wildcats, amazing win last night over the Adelaide 36ers.
- 7:24Speaker 2: This was actually amazing. Any other day, this would be amazing.
- 7:27Speaker 2: Bryce Cotton playing against his old club, 37 points. We're
- 7:30Speaker 2: thinking they're going to get nailed here by Bryce again.
- 7:32Speaker 1: How embarrassing. What a nightmare.
- 7:34Speaker 2: And right at the end, Elijah Pepper has shot this
- 7:37Speaker 2: three-pointer from nowheresville, goes in, draws the foul. He's the
- 7:41Speaker 2: wildcat and sensational win in the dying seconds in front
- 7:44Speaker 2: of a huge crowd just down the road here at
- 7:47Speaker 2: RSC Arena.
- 7:49Speaker 1: There's other stuff going on.
- 7:50Speaker 2: Hey, I just wanted to mention too, going out if
- 7:53Speaker 2: you don't mind, I want to send my love and
- 7:56Speaker 2: respect to the family of Gary Carvoth, 60 years in radio,
- 8:00Speaker 2: big man for telethon. I remember he went to the
- 8:04Speaker 2: Thriller in Manila and he bumped into Muhammad Ali and
- 8:07Speaker 2: he came back with his gloves, his boots, his shorts,
- 8:10Speaker 2: all signed by Muhammad Ali. And we sold them for Telethon.
- 8:13Speaker 1: How good is that? So just a great, great man. RIP.
- 8:17Speaker 1: And Angry Anderson too.
- 8:18Speaker 2: I spent a lot of time with Angry Anderson in
- 8:20Speaker 2: the 1991 grand final because I missed out and I
- 8:23Speaker 2: got sent out of the rooms because I was too flat.
- 8:26Speaker 1: Basically the CEO said, Barry, you're not helping.
- 8:29Speaker 2: Just get out there. You look like someone's killed you,
- 8:31Speaker 2: you know, someone in your family. So I went out
- 8:34Speaker 2: onto the ground and Angry Anderson was there in the Batmobile.
- 8:37Speaker 5: That's right.
- 8:38Speaker 1: You've seen that vision?
- 8:38Speaker 5: Yeah, I have, yeah.
- 8:39Speaker 2: And I'm with Deke and Lionel Rose and Fennec, Jimmy Steins,
- 8:43Speaker 2: the awesome foursome. And it was probably the worst, apart
- 8:47Speaker 2: from Meatloaf, the worst ever performance at a grand final
- 8:51Speaker 2: because his earpiece came out or something.
- 8:53Speaker 1: He couldn't get it.
- 8:54Speaker 5: He wasn't as bad as Meatloaf.
- 8:56Speaker 2: He was singing Bound for Glory, you know, and he's
- 8:59Speaker 2: trying to get the crowd involved. The Eagles lost by
- 9:02Speaker 2: 53 points that day. We lost by 53 points. And
- 9:05Speaker 2: in fairness, Angry's performance is probably the second worst disaster
- 9:09Speaker 2: apart from us.
- 9:10Speaker 1: So he was a great man, though.
- 9:12Speaker 2: Real charity worker and just, you know, can focal off
- 9:15Speaker 2: for that grand final as well. So we send our
- 9:17Speaker 2: love and best wishes to his family as well.
- 9:20Speaker 1: Thank you, my friend. Enjoy grand final day.
- 9:22Speaker 5: Yeah, you too.
- 9:22Speaker 1: Go the Dockers.
- 9:23Speaker 5: Where are you doing it?
- 9:24Speaker 1: I'm working.
- 9:25Speaker 2: Oh.
- 9:25Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm holding the Channel 7's news together. LAUGHTER I
- 9:31Speaker 1: don't want to be a fraud and go over there.
- 9:33Speaker 1: I am an eagle. Cheapest. All right.
- 9:35Speaker 5: Thanks, Barry.
