- 0:03Law. Excuse me, it's my mic gun track the Galaxy's Most Unpredictable Star
- 0:19Trek Podcast. Well that was embarrassing. Do you think I ate that sounded?
- 0:36Welcome to track cast the Galaxy's Most Unpredictable Star Trek Podcast. I am
- 0:44Dan, son of Pascual House of Lombardo. I'm one of you. I'm
- 0:47one of your hosts with me as always Daniel. Yes, up, Daniel.
- 0:51What's going on? Man? How are you I? I'm alright,
- 0:55I'm alright. I woke up really late, but other than that, I'm
- 0:58alright. I will opposite. Then I woke up really early and started the
- 1:02ceiling, started at the ceiling for a while and then realized, you know,
- 1:06hey, this is not happening, and just got up. I never
- 1:08sleep in so I was pleasantly surprised. Yeah, good, good, good
- 1:14good. So it's raining here. It's raining man. Yeah, it's not
- 1:21raining men, it's not There's only two of us, so it's not raining
- 1:26men. We should probably segue into that right away. Yeah, and just
- 1:32talk about that real quick. So I got a little bit of bad news.
- 1:37Chad's not going to be joining us today. And he's not going to
- 1:42be joining us for the foreseeable future. We spoke with him quite a bit
- 1:48this week. He's having some family issues at home. Then he needs to
- 1:53take some time to step away from some of his other obligations, one of
- 2:00which is this show, one of which is his other his other podcast,
- 2:05and he's just had to, you know, reprioritize some things in his life.
- 2:12You know, we don't know how long it's gonna be. He needs,
- 2:14he needs some time where you know, we're going to give him that
- 2:16time. You know, the door is is always open. Truck Cass is
- 2:22a family nobody ever truly leaves, and you know, we're we're disappointed and
- 2:30sad that, uh, he's not going to be with us. But at
- 2:35the same time, you know, family first, whether it's your family,
- 2:38my family, his family, I love you guys, but if it's between
- 2:44you guys and my family, it's my family every time, every single time.
- 2:47So so we're sending good thoughts to Chad, We're sending good thoughts to
- 2:53his his family, and hopefully they can get through with what they're dealing with.
- 3:01So here comes here comes the awkward part though this show. Anyone who's
- 3:06ever listened to this show, no recently. Yeah, it works best as
- 3:09a trio when there's just two of us on here. There's just something missing,
- 3:15so naturally out without Chad, you know, we're looking for the third
- 3:20person. You're you're roboting out, man, I'm rooting out. Yeah,
- 3:24yeah, like horrifically a little bit. Come on, this is like the
- 3:32worst time for this to happen. Well yeah, so, as as Dan
- 3:38was trying to say, maybe you want to reconnect or whatever. Sure,
- 3:42yeah, well, as Dan was trying to say, so, because of
- 3:45all that, we have to bring someone else in to to help us out.
- 3:49We need that third leg of the stool. And yes we have made
- 3:53a ton of jokes, but at last his plans have come to fruition and
- 3:59strong Beard is joining us. Everybody. Yeah, I know, Hey,
- 4:04I like that picture in the back. Oh thank you, thank you.
- 4:09The first thing I want to say is I did speak to Chad good good,
- 4:14well, I I we texted a little bit and basically on a serious
- 4:19note, you know, I told him I wished him and his family the
- 4:25best, and I stated more than once. You know, when he's ready
- 4:30to come back, I'm just keeping the seat warm for him. But I'm
- 4:33healthy happy to help out the show. And I know we've, like you
- 4:39said, I know, we've made a lot of jokes about me, you
- 4:41know, yeah, kind of take it over the podcast. And I just
- 4:46wanted to assure everybody that Chad is not in my trunk. Okay, so
- 4:53and that would be impossible because we own an suv and a pickup truck,
- 4:56so no trunks. But you know, nope, nope, this is this
- 5:02is a legit. And uh but I spoke to him, you know,
- 5:06I have his blessing and uh and uh, I wished it well and and
- 5:11like I said, I'm just keeping the seat warm for him. He's uh,
- 5:15you know, he's welcome back anytime. So absolutely so we're still waiting
- 5:18for Dan to come back. But uh, I guess Bob was so strong.
- 5:25Don't get too comfy, right, Uh yeah, well we should probably
- 5:32get to the news and we'll wait for Dan to come back, but we'll
- 5:35just judge along. Sounds good. This is probably why Also we like a
- 5:40three person show, just stuff like this. This is true. Yeah,
- 5:44yeah, all right, our first news story. It's kind of a big
- 5:54update of what's going on right now. Yeah. I don't know if you
- 5:56guys have been tracking this weekend, but the writers straight, not the actors
- 6:00strike, but the writers Strake might be drawing to a close there. There
- 6:08has been announced that there will be another meeting between the studios and the day
- 6:13on Sunday, and they are saying they're putting the best and final offers towards
- 6:18each other. Right now, that really doesn't mean final offers, That doesn't
- 6:23really mean it's their best necessarily, it's a legal term, I guess,
- 6:27and that's what you're calling it. Yeah, it could we went to an
- 6:30end, which would be great because then you can get started on scripts.
- 6:35Just focus on actors drake and get that finished and and get back to working.
- 6:41Yeah, this is their first final offer and their first best. That's
- 6:46right. I'm sure. I'm sure I heard that. If if this doesn't
- 6:48pan out this weekend, then it's not gonna happen until the beginning of the
- 6:54year. Who knows. They say that, and then like it could be
- 7:00you know, that's true. It could be one side, you know,
- 7:02saying hey, if you don't agree to this, and sometime you're telling the
- 7:04public we're out. Yeah. Yeah, so I'm any union. So I
- 7:09I I've I've played the game before, I've been a union steward before,
- 7:13so yeah, that's kind of how the game works. Yeah. Yeah,
- 7:16you kind of give each other's shots in the press and then you see what
- 7:19happens. But you know they did have was it? The head of of
- 7:26WB David zaslof And and the head of Disney also joined the talks this last
- 7:33weekend. So yeah, Dan, I don't think you heard, but it
- 7:39sounds like the writers strike might be coming to an end. Yeah, they're
- 7:43having another meeting just today. Best in final offers. I, you know,
- 7:49I get disconnected for like a minute. Who's that guy in the bottom
- 7:55right? We almost replaced you with gentry, so you better be careful.
- 8:00Did you address the weirdness of like the joke? Yeah? Oh yes,
- 8:05yeah we did. We did because I was worried. Yeah, it was
- 8:07about that. I was worried about the op. Yeah. A lot of
- 8:11people are requesting proof of life. A lot of people are asking what what
- 8:16county I live in so they can contact the sheriff. Very Scottish Blaski for
- 8:20a reason for a season. Oh no, that's right, nice scott Blaky.
- 8:28I like it. I like it. So we'd be seeing data instead
- 8:33of data that's right. Data. Our next new story comes to us from
- 8:43fans Sighted and it says Jonathan Freakes, didn't they go out. Strange New
- 8:50Worlds was praised, So in an interview, he was talking a little bit
- 8:54about Strange New Worlds and how well received it was, and you know,
- 8:58just it was great and everybody loved it, especially season one. But he
- 9:03did say that it was a little bit of a slap in the face.
- 9:07And what he means by that is he says, like, you know,
- 9:11before Stranger Worlds, we were doing Discovery and Picard and then when Stranger the
- 9:16World comes out, people are like, oh, this is a star Trek
- 9:18we've been waiting for. And he's like, that was a backhanded compliment to
- 9:22the other teams because they've been doing it for years and people apparently didn't like
- 9:28it as much. I mean, was it a surprise though, I mean
- 9:31people had had their opinions throughout all along. I know it was the Internet
- 9:37knew from the beginning like this it's not good. So well, when you're
- 9:41you know, when you're the parent of like you know, Peyton and Eli
- 9:43Manning and the press is all like, oh great, you know Peyton Manny's
- 9:48doing so well, and you're like, I got this other kid over here
- 9:52that's also a quarterback, right, who are who are who are those people?
- 9:56What's showing right trek cast? Sorry, yeah, the quarterback is his
- 10:01money. Yeah, so they're accountants, right, exactly, exactly, their
- 10:09famous accountants. Right. Yeah. For those of you who don't know,
- 10:13R. Peyton Manning was a famous quarterback for the Colds and Eli Manning was
- 10:18a not quite as famous quarterback for the insurance commercials. Yes, exactly,
- 10:24Stationwide. Yes, they are American football players, that's right, not football,
- 10:33not football, something else, sports football Americano. Yes, all right.
- 10:41Card was mediocre? What is that? Picard was mediocre? Yeah,
- 10:46mediocre? Who said that? Band? Didn't even I didn't even know he
- 10:50played football. Our last news comes comes to us from Slash Film and a
- 10:58couple of Star Trick movies are about to leave Netflix. So they will be
- 11:03leaving in October. So just in a few days, and we will They're
- 11:09going to get ridden start two thousand and nine and start Trick into Darkness.
- 11:13We'll be leaving Netflix. This is so exhausting just figuring out what it is
- 11:20where. It's to the point where sometimes if I want to watch something.
- 11:24Before I even turn the rokup on, I google the thing and see where
- 11:28to watch it. Yep, same, same, yep, and you know
- 11:33it's and sometimes like sometimes there's no rhyme or reason whatsoever as to what is
- 11:41streaming and where. So I got a hankering. I got a hankering last
- 11:45week to watch you remember V with the you know, the Reptilian Oh yeah,
- 11:52yeah, yeah, okay, okay. So I got a hankering to
- 11:54watch the original, the original V. So I found it with streaming free.
- 12:01The the original mini series was streaming for free on you know, some
- 12:07some streamer that I never heard of, one of the free you know,
- 12:09like to be Light or whatever. It wasn't to be it was something something
- 12:13similar. So I watched the original. Yeah yeah, I watched the original
- 12:16mini series. And then I want to watch the second mini series, which
- 12:20kind of concludes the story from the first mini series, and it's it's I
- 12:26think it's three episodes, like the first one's not there, the second and
- 12:31third ones are there, but the first one, so who's who ever who?
- 12:37And who has ever said? You know what? I want to watch
- 12:41parts two and three of that trilogy, but I have zero interest in watching
- 12:43part one. Yeah, that's the lawyers that are making these mistakes and making
- 12:48these streaming contracts and things, you know, like letting other we've we're dealing
- 12:54with this with like Prodigy, where they're you know, the Paramount is who
- 12:56made it, but now they're trying to get another streamer to maybe pick it
- 13:01up, because you know, we've talked about this before I was watching eight
- 13:05I watched eighteen ninety three just because I was done watching like a Discovery episode,
- 13:09and it started playing after the Discovery episode and I was hooked and I
- 13:13was watching on Paramount I think back then it was Paramount Plus and I got
- 13:18done with the series. It was a fantastic series. And I found out
- 13:20it was a prequel to Yellowstone, and I'm like, oh, Yellowstone.
- 13:24I looked up Yellowstone. It's a Paramount you know y thing, and I'm
- 13:28like, sweet, I'm gonna check it out on Paramount Plus. I'm like,
- 13:33I can't. It's not I mean, I googled it six ways from
- 13:35Sunday and it's like, where is it? Oh, It's on Peacock Yeah
- 13:41yeah, I mean it was the show airs on the Paramount Network on TV.
- 13:46Yes, right, and I don't have the Paramount network because I don't
- 13:50have cable, right, yeah, yeah, this, this is exactly why
- 13:54I haven't seen that show. I went through the exact same thing where I
- 13:56wanted to watch that show, got excited when I realiz there was a Paramount
- 14:00shelf. It's a Paramount Plus and nothing I've I have since seen all of
- 14:07Yellowstone. And I will not say how I've been able to see all of
- 14:13Yellowstone. You borrowed it from the internet something like that, Yeah, the
- 14:18International Library or something like that. I will neither confirm nor to die again.
- 14:24And then our last news story, Strange in the World Season two is
- 14:28coming to Blu Ray DVD and four k UHD. It will be coming in
- 14:35December five, so just in time for Christmas, so you can get Pike
- 14:41in your stocking. Nice. My question is how has streaming affected Blu Ray
- 14:50sales, Like, if you already have if you can watch Paramount Plus anytime
- 14:56you want, how many people are buying the Blue Rays? I'd be curious
- 15:03to know in the in the chat or in the Facebook group, how many
- 15:05people are buying the Blue rays of anything Start trek. I'm ready to start
- 15:09with all this streaming issues. I'm ready to start going back to physical media.
- 15:15It's a lot cheaper now for each season than it was. You know,
- 15:18I remember two thousand, nineteen ninety nine, two thousand or whatever when
- 15:24TNG first started coming out on DVD, like a hundred bunch of season.
- 15:28I remember paying one hundred dollars a season, and I did all of TNNG.
- 15:33Then I did all of Deep Space nine, then I did all of
- 15:37Voyager. We have all of Enterprise all. I mean, I spent one
- 15:39hundred bucks a season on all that stuff and I still have it. I
- 15:41still have all that stuff. But you know, nothing new do I have.
- 15:46I don't have any of the cards. I don't have any of the
- 15:48Strange New Worlds I you know I have. I have a bunch of the
- 15:54Marvel movies up to about five or six years ago. Yeah, but I'm
- 15:58ready to just I'm ready to just go back to that. I'm hesitant to
- 16:04mention this because I was trying to think of the legal ramifications. But we
- 16:07were told at the time that it was legal. I have quote unquote bootleg
- 16:12copies of Next Gen Enterprise, Voyager and Deep Space nine. But the reason
- 16:19why it was at least I was told at the time it was legal is
- 16:22because the country that I bought it in had no copyright laws, so I
- 16:29bought bootleg copies in Iraq and you could buy them. I think I paid
- 16:37They told you what you wanted to hear, a buddy, I think you're
- 16:41ready. They were looking to close the deal. I think I think I
- 16:45paid maybe forty dollars a series. Yeah, and it's I mean, it's
- 16:52not the best quality, and it's some of the episodes are out of order.
- 16:56And can you see the guy get up and go get his popcorn some
- 17:00of times. Yeah, here's here's the thing. Here's the thing. As
- 17:08long as you're not as long as you're not duplicating those things and spread no
- 17:14one, no one's ever gonna care. Yeah, no, one's not at
- 17:17all. I live in a weird I live in a weird area for physical
- 17:21media because we still do. You have the last Blockbuster up there, don't
- 17:26you. No? For real, we do still have video stores here,
- 17:30I know. And and part of that is because you drive maybe ten minutes
- 17:33out of the city, you are in the woods and you are in the
- 17:37mountains. There are a lot of people who live up there who literally come
- 17:41into town one day a month to get their supplies and go back to their
- 17:45to their homesteads in Washington State, Idaho. Oh you're in Idaho. Okay,
- 17:52so physical media. So what you're saying is there's a lot of people
- 17:56around you who are living my dream. Yes, yes, right, yeah,
- 18:03quite a bit actually, so yeah, so there you go. All
- 18:07right, Well, should we get to the main topic? Sure? All
- 18:21right, So our main topic is a review of Lower Deck season four.
- 18:26Something borrowed, something green. I don't have the mine because I forgot to
- 18:30get it slipped in. Oh well yeah, indeed going to her sister's wedding
- 18:41via she needed to save her sister as part of an Orion bridal kidnapping.
- 18:47M Yeah, so it was kind of neat. We got to see more
- 18:52about the Orion's Yeah, we don't have a lot of backgrounds, No,
- 18:56we don't, and they and they brought it up on the show. Yeah.
- 19:00We got a little bit on Enterprise, a little bit which which Enterprise,
- 19:04which was interesting because it was Enterprise that established that the females run everything,
- 19:10even though we thought they were the females for the slaves, but it's
- 19:14actually the other way around. So it's nice that they carried that over.
- 19:18Yeah, we got to see a little bit of the lower decks of an
- 19:22Orion ship and we're starting to their plunder. I thought it was great.
- 19:30I thought it was interesting that, you know, like humans, there are
- 19:33many shades of green, which is you know, Scott, you were in
- 19:38the army, right, sure, Yeah, so you know there's no there's
- 19:42no black, there's no white, no white, everybody's sad. Yeah,
- 19:48that's what I thought of immediately. Yeah, that's funny. Yeah, the
- 19:55lower decks was great. Like when when they were making fun of that one
- 19:57guy who was like copying everybody else's idea, it's like you're more like an
- 20:00Orian plagiarist. Yes, we also discovered that Tindi is quite the big deal
- 20:08on her planet. Yeah yeah. Her family is like one of the boss's
- 20:14families or yeah, and then her family's the fifth largest like crime syndicate family
- 20:22in the yeah, all of our Ryan. So it's like it's like John
- 20:26Gotti's granddaughter joining starfleet yep, yep, yep. And she's a prime an
- 20:33assassin. Yeah, yeah, she she is a badass. Do not mess
- 20:37m No Dan likes that Une no no I do not. I feel dirty
- 20:51enough with that picture from the Facebook group A couple, that's right, Mariner,
- 20:57Yeah, mariner with ants on. Oh my lord. Uh so this
- 21:03thing the Samuel clements, Oh yes, yes, yes, I didn't get
- 21:10that. It felt a little uncomfortable to me. Yeah, it was.
- 21:15These guys are weird. Yeah, I was okay with this weirdness, the
- 21:22very Short trecks weirdness. I'm I'm getting over really quick. I just watched
- 21:26all three very Short Trecks last night. If anybody hasn't seen them, you're
- 21:33not missing anything. Yeah. I like the latest one. I thought that
- 21:40was funny, maybe maybe because it was gross. It was gross. It
- 21:45was it was eating at the time, but like, oh yeah, I
- 21:48didn't know nobody was. But I mean, I'm a huge fan. I
- 21:57think I think forty four minutes of them just sitting around playing cards, I'd
- 22:03be like, that was great, that was wonderful. I love DG yep.
- 22:07But but I could listen to Jonathan Fakes talk all days Command Breaker.
- 22:11Yes, that's true, that's true. But it's also you know, not
- 22:17to get away from strange lower decks, but to talk about the short trek.
- 22:23It is realistic, though, if we make first contact with with an
- 22:27alien species, they're they're going to do things that are disgusting by our standards.
- 22:34And we know that because even here on Earth, you know, the
- 22:41customs of other cultures are disgusting by the you know, by the standards of
- 22:48your own you know, in the in the United States and North America,
- 22:52we don't generally eat bugs, and there are cultures where they just eat bugs,
- 22:59we underwater bugs, wat shrimp. Yes, that's true, that's true.
- 23:04But there's so much variation just within people on my own block, let
- 23:10alone people in my continent or people in my hemisphere or people on my planet
- 23:15that you know, there's conflict with people that live on your own block that
- 23:19have the same upbringing that kind of looked the same to go to the same
- 23:22church, and there's certain people in that group that don't get along for you
- 23:26know, very to them important reasons. And then you go to a different
- 23:30culture that's a different culture, a different species. Yeah, and you find
- 23:36out that they put ranch dressing on pizza. You're like, yeah, animals,
- 23:45Yeah, no, I'm thinking about like you know, even like in
- 23:48the Mexican cultures, some people eat octopus, right, it's in a soup,
- 23:52and I remember the first time I saw that, I was like,
- 23:56no, yeah, but that's you know and and and Okay, so that's
- 24:00odd to you, right, but in Italian cuisine, yeah, that's not
- 24:04that's not uncommon at all. No, I had it. It was great,
- 24:07but yeah, at first I was like, no, yeah, oh
- 24:12j running like today it looks like Scott, it's takeovers in full effects.
- 24:18You want to go back to earlier than Yeah, you're gonna want to rewind,
- 24:22you know, going back to that. I thought about, you know,
- 24:26we were talking about I even talked about this to Chad and he endorsed
- 24:30it. But ultimately I decided not to about the like continuing on the joke
- 24:34that you know, I'm trying to take over and that I might have done
- 24:37something nefarious, And so I thought about like having like a rake and a
- 24:41shovel and some duct tape in the background, or or my face covered in
- 24:45dirt, you know, But I'm like, no, I I didn't seriously
- 24:48tell people, Yeah, he's okay, and he's fine with this. Yeah,
- 24:53we love you, Chad like a human skull right right? How that
- 24:59gets there? And I just you know what, it took me a minute
- 25:02but I just realized that you're wearing a chat taupe of card shirt. You're
- 25:04big nerd. Yes, I am. I'm sorry I fell it. No,
- 25:07I'm not sorry. I don't apologize. Nerd alert, Nerd alert.
- 25:15I'm gonna wear something different next week too. There you go. Yeah,
- 25:18and then I just realized the irony. I'm calling you a big nerd.
- 25:22I'm wearing a ghostbuster's hat, right, how as long as a prime took
- 25:29him out? Hey, I put not on just taking over Chad spot,
- 25:33but I'm taking over the show man. Don't mean Oh no, I expect.
- 25:37Well, what are some of my demands? I was thinking about this
- 25:40earlier. I'm like, uh, yeah, I want I want my equal
- 25:44cut from the coffee account. Okay, so I figured out I got about
- 25:48between six and twelve dollars coming my way every six months. I want I
- 25:52want Facebook passwords, I want admin access. Wow, he's coming for it.
- 26:00Off he is? He is? He told me he wants the top
- 26:04box. Yeah, I'm gunning for it. I'm gutting for it. I
- 26:10get the top box. It's only a matter of time. But yeah,
- 26:15so this episode is a little bit goofy. We did see that ship again,
- 26:19that mystery ship. Yeah, what other episode was that in? Because
- 26:26my wife was asking me, She's like, did you see that ship in
- 26:27another episode? And I'm trying to think of them. Okay, it's been
- 26:33like like all season long, I think, in at least once per episode
- 26:37roughly somemzy theories about what that is. Didn't somebody say it was? It
- 26:41was from some other episode, some other truck episode. Somebody said it was
- 26:45the Alice ship from from Voyager. Okay, but I don't remember that ship
- 26:52well enough to be like, yeah, that's what it is. It kind
- 26:55of reminded me of Slave one a little bit, because we don't call we
- 26:59don't call at that anymore. Oh that's right, ship bub ship, have
- 27:03a little class, have a little class. Scott. My apologies, I'm
- 27:07new. Have you seen that Robot Chicken where it's Lando talking to Boba Fett
- 27:14and he goes, yeah, it's a fine ship, but I don't really
- 27:17like that name. And they got Billy Deed a voice it, which is
- 27:22even better. Oh great, I'm on the internet now looking up this Alice
- 27:30ship. Okay, okay, from Voyager. Right, Yeah, I don't
- 27:36think it's that. I think it's gonna be Badgie whatever it is, yeah,
- 27:41or maybe a team up between Badgie and any other AI we've run into.
- 27:47Well, yeah, they had that whole room full of ais that were
- 27:49right. Yeah, oh yeah, yeah, yeah, I don't think it's
- 27:53this when that happens, but so cool theory not Yeah, what else happened?
- 28:04We learned that Mark Twain is a great way for a client Fickler's resolution
- 28:11just talking to each other and dresses Samuel Clemens. Yea, yeah, I
- 28:17thought that was fun. Yeah, and I get it. It was a
- 28:18nice call back to oh what episode was that in the Next Generation Are Yeah,
- 28:29Yeah, that was a great Episode's good. I love I love that
- 28:32one, really good with lasting, lasting ramifications for the for the rest of
- 28:37the series. Yeah, Data's head is two hundred years older than the rest
- 28:41of his body. That's right, that's right. That's crazy to think about.
- 28:47I'm watching your eyes, You're like, that's crazy. Yeah, Well
- 28:53that also reminds me, like, you know, there's a couple of people
- 28:56in the series who are tons old, older than they really appear to be.
- 29:00O'Brien is like eighty years older than in his mind. Picard is quite
- 29:07a bit older in his mind because of their experiences, although of course,
- 29:11in natural truck fashion, O'Brien got the short end of that stick where he
- 29:17spent you know, fifty years in his mind in a prison and Picard like
- 29:21in this you know, fairly nice you know planet, and then we have
- 29:26data who doesn't remember all those two hundred years. But yeah, yeah,
- 29:34oh and I love the bit where Mariner kept getting stabbed over again, over
- 29:41and over again in the shoulder. Yeah, that was great. You know
- 29:48what's her name to Lynn was doing her report about the orion culture. It
- 29:52just eventually just threw away and she justses it back to mystery. Yeah.
- 29:56Yeah, you can see that she's she's softening up, she's coming around.
- 30:02Yeah. Yeah. I liked the episode a lot. That was a lot
- 30:06of fun. Yeah, it's good. A little conflict between Boimler and Rutherford.
- 30:15Rutherford, yeah, oh yeah over the bonds eye tree. Yeah,
- 30:18that was a fun bit, like urn that in that apartment or the guy
- 30:23just eats Yeah, oh yeah, that was funny. All right, anything
- 30:32else we want to bring upbout the episode? Yeah? Really, I only
- 30:40I only watched it once again, you know, I watched it one and
- 30:42a half times. I started to watch it. I was a little under
- 30:47the weather this weekend, so I kind of fell asleep halfway through the second
- 30:49time. But I enjoyed it. Yeah, are you guys watching Ahsoka?
- 30:56Yes, I am. I finally caught up. Okay, I finally caught
- 31:02up. I'm enjoying it. Yeah, I don't know. I mean,
- 31:08it's what can we say about it without spoiling it? It's different. I
- 31:14think I would love it more if I knew Rebels and the Clone Wars.
- 31:18But being that I didn't really watch those series, it's good. I like
- 31:22it. But from what I understand, if you were into those shows,
- 31:26this thing is amazing. It is it really is. I watched both Rebels
- 31:30in Clone Wars. Without spoiling anything. I think if you watched the last
- 31:36season of both shows, you'd be ninety percent caught up. There's obviously there's
- 31:41a lot of backstory of Ahsoka and the rest of the Clone Wars. But
- 31:44if you watch the last season of Clone Wars, there's these ten episodes and
- 31:48you'll get there are But if you if you look up ten of those lists,
- 31:52all ten of them are different. K So I lost their long episode
- 31:57long series, I mean long seasons right. I have to go back and
- 32:02watch it because I can just tell that there's there's a lot of member berries.
- 32:09Yeah, they're they're thrown in there, some of which you know,
- 32:15I notice, some of which means something to me. You know. Last
- 32:20week, you know, Hayden Christensen was back as Annekin, so that that
- 32:24was good. We saw some flashback scenes, so you know, you don't
- 32:30see him, but you hear Tomorrow Morrison's voice as a Clone trooper. So
- 32:34yep, yep, it was a bit underwhelming. Yeah, yeah, you
- 32:38actually saw a live action younger Ahsoka and it was actually played by the same
- 32:44girl that played a younger go Mora in so and she did a fantastic job.
- 32:52They've done a lot of really great callbacks. They're they're live action versions
- 32:58of Clone War and Rebels characters have been they're not supposed to be, pardon
- 33:05the pun, clones of their animated counterparts. Having said that, they've done
- 33:09a fantastic job in their casting, and then they're like design, aesthetic and
- 33:14style. They've got such a great, great team over there. Dave Dave,
- 33:21I think Dave Filoni has done a fantastic wife is calling you out on
- 33:23the show. Oh wow, we didn't make anymore. Sorry, honey,
- 33:34this is an interesting new dynamic. Oh yeah, yeah, I have in
- 33:37trouble. We don't have to end the show. We instant feedback. Let's
- 33:45not tehow back, Let's save you from trouble the longer on the show.
- 33:50The let's trouble, you're in over It's good coffee. I'm enjoying Ahsoka.
- 33:54Yea. The problem is the problem is we know where it's headed, and
- 34:06we don't like where it's headed. You know, this all takes place between
- 34:13the original trilogy and the sequel trilogy, which, you know, not to
- 34:19put too fine a point on it is trash. Yeah. So you know,
- 34:23as excited as I am about seeing the big villain, who who shows
- 34:30up? Okay? But great? You know where is he in the next
- 34:35trilogy? Right? You know? And I'm wondering if that's why they created
- 34:38the other galaxies so that they can keep it all over there. It's a
- 34:43completely different story. It's their own thing. Ye wait, are we talking
- 34:47about strange new worlds? Are we talking about Asoka? Right? Right?
- 34:53Yeah? I don't know. And just when you think that, you know,
- 34:57all right, you know, maybe they're going to disavow the the sequel
- 35:04trilogy. Now they're talking about more movies with those people. Yeah, and
- 35:08it's like, what are you doing? What are you doing? The world
- 35:12has told you we don't want this, and they just double down and they're
- 35:15gonna do more. Right, I don't get it. I don't get it.
- 35:20Yeah, you just spent you just spent a brazilion dollars on a on
- 35:28a hotel theme park thing and then you closed it in less than a year.
- 35:31Yeah, but you're gonna do more. You're gonna create more content based
- 35:37on that. What is what is going on? Well, I mean it's
- 35:40the same thing that's going on with Stir Trick, right, Like they're they're
- 35:44coming out or they want to do Section thirty one, they want to do
- 35:46Academy, but the fan base is crying out for legacy. Right. So
- 35:52it's like, okay, well, Dave Filoni seems to he's he's a showrunner
- 35:58over it. We were at Disney doing a lot of the Star Wars stuff.
- 36:01He seems to have his finger on the pulse of Star Wars fans.
- 36:06Yeah, and we've we've got people like that in Star Trek. Yeah.
- 36:12And do they need they need to give them more authority. You know,
- 36:15you've got your Jonathan Frakes type people, and people love him and they love
- 36:22what he's done, and you need to make him a charge his right hand
- 36:27man for quite a while, to the point that Lucas has even said,
- 36:30like he'll pitch ideas to Dave, and Dave's like, oh yeah, and
- 36:34we can connect it this way, and like he knows the lower down hat
- 36:37like he just he's got it down. So yeah. But the bottom line
- 36:42is, I hate to bring it back to one specific point. The bottom
- 36:45line is they took the hero of the original trilogy and threw him in the
- 36:52trash. Yeah, yeah, they did. And you can't other than saying,
- 36:58forget these movies. We're doing him over. There's no way to undo
- 37:02that. I've heard whispers of that. Actually it sounds drastic, but really
- 37:08that's what they need to do. They need to recast a younger actor as
- 37:13Luke Skywalker and and make a Sebastian let him. Yes, yes, if
- 37:20it's gonna be Sebastian stand that's fine. I'd be fine with that. But
- 37:23you know, I I started rewatching the sequels trilogy recently. I said to
- 37:30myself, it's been a few years. Maybe it's not as bad as I
- 37:34thought. And I'm like, this is this is awful. Yeah. Not
- 37:38only does Sebastian Yan look like him, but he also knows what it's like
- 37:42to have a robot hand. So that's true. Ye yeah, yep,
- 37:47yeah. All right, Well let's get to feedback. So if you guys
- 37:54want a chat, except in the in the chat. But hey, I'm
- 38:07wondering if Desiree batters, uh, it's going to x up in the chat.
- 38:10Oh I would love she won't have coffee, But no, she won't
- 38:17have coffee. I don't think she's going to All right, well, we
- 38:23do have some feedback. Our friend Tim from across the pond. Hey,
- 38:30Sandy voicemail okay, and I was able to animate it to let me let's
- 38:36do that. I see. I apologize because I haven't been keeping up with
- 38:43lower decks because the app on my TV doesn't work. I've got all these
- 38:47apps on my Skybox, Paramount Blast, Disney Blast, Amazon, and a
- 38:55couple of the others, and it's only Paramount that gives me grief. So
- 38:59I'll be I think it's one of those must watch it tonight. I must
- 39:04watch it tonight, so I had to start watching it on my phone last
- 39:07night. So look, i haven't got a review for you this week because
- 39:09I'm still catching up from the last couple of episodes from the last season.
- 39:14So but I just wanted to check in and say, hi, boys,
- 39:16I'm aware it's been a while, and not only that I haven't been able
- 39:21to listen to your fine show because I haven't been watching Lower Decks. And
- 39:25that's the whole point of it, isn't it. So I'm going to catch
- 39:29up over the next few days, and I'm going to endeavor to get a
- 39:32review to you for next week's Lower Decks. By the time I've caught up,
- 39:37it'll probably be finished. And then and then what's next after that?
- 39:42I don't know what's next after Discovery Lower Decks. I don't know. Probably
- 39:47not very good though, So yeah, which on Lower Decks did I watched
- 39:52last night? It was the one with Peanut butter a Hamper, I mean,
- 40:01season three. Anyway, you didn't know. I don't know if anything
- 40:06exciting has happened, because, as I say, I'm gonna able to listen
- 40:07to any of your shows. But yeah, I shall do that over the
- 40:12next few days and just let you know, I love you very much a
- 40:17little bit, homo, and I'll speak to take care so I will forever
- 40:27picture him yep, as as Ron Swanson as a twinkie. That's great,
- 40:34Yellow Jelly been talking, Oh that's great. The baseball was fun. But
- 40:42yeah, oh, speaking of which, the baseball the so I'm on,
- 40:47I'm on the show full time now, uh, And the pack Lid review,
- 40:52the pack Lid review is gonna go on hatus on hiatus for a little
- 40:55while. This is why the team of writers, the pack Lad team of
- 41:02writers, there's so many of them. It actually takes up seven percent of
- 41:07the pack Led Homeworld GDP. It's a very high percentage. There are thousands
- 41:15and thousands of writers that have to come together, uh to make that one,
- 41:20two or even three sentence review. That they need to back off of
- 41:24that for a little bit soon. I don't think they're in the union.
- 41:30No, no, I don't think they're in the union. That that would
- 41:32require contracts, which would take right and they're burnt out. So the Paclad
- 41:37reviews on on a little bit of a hiatus. But don't worry, it's
- 41:39going to be back sometimes. So can the pack lads say hiatus I mean,
- 41:44can they spell hiatus? Well, well, they they have, they
- 41:46have. I'm sort of their agent for stuff like that. So anything right,
- 41:53anything that's three syllables or more sentences that are you know, things like
- 42:00that. So, but that's what's going on with that. He ate us
- 42:09I do. Got a quick email from ghost Stock forty five and it says,
- 42:15hey, guys, when the mystery ship flipped around to fire on the
- 42:19ORIONCE at the beginning of this week's lower Decks, that ship clearly looks like
- 42:23a koala. What the hell? Oh? Okay, why is he smiling?
- 42:30It's murder, That's why he's smiling. Yeah, all right. We
- 42:35also have more people calling in whatever jazz biz is a jazz biz? What's
- 42:45going on? Hell? I was taking congratulations, but it's kind of what
- 42:52are you saying this? Say high Scott? Yeah, yeah, I'm not
- 43:01gonna live that one down. I'm afraid to walk out of this office.
- 43:07Backewer chat. Oh what do you think of the episode? It's all right,
- 43:16you know, wasn't my favorite. The last two episodes have been kind
- 43:22of I haven't like chuckled out loud. Really okay, they're just kind of
- 43:25there. I liked the Boimler in the Mark Twain park probably the most of
- 43:30this episode. Yeah, because that was the only way they can talk to
- 43:35each other as both dressed like Mark Twain. And then they got the idea
- 43:39to get the captain on the other ship. But captain's dress is Mark Twain,
- 43:45and he's like, what is this all right? It's funny. It's
- 43:49funnier when you talk about Yeah, yeah, I don't know I was thinking
- 43:52about when she agreed to that, but yeah, and then he eats the
- 43:55Bond's eye, just destroys Bond's eye. I want to know how high they
- 44:01get before they start writing these episodes. I'm just thinking they're getting a little
- 44:06too high. Yeah, I think they're dabbing So that is just just smoky
- 44:12room in there. Do you think they just binge watch old episodes of Star
- 44:15Trek and just smoke a lot of pot and and then like start writing.
- 44:19I don't think they've binge watching. I think they've done that their whole lives,
- 44:22right, Yeah, or they got the super nerd in there that yeah,
- 44:25everything like the computer, like he just knows every episode, every detail,
- 44:30And what would that even sound like, Daniel? What the super nerd.
- 44:36Oh, I don't know, and the writer I imagine that, do
- 44:42that, and the Mark Twain voice, Oh I think no, it's just
- 44:50some Yeah, we're venturing into dangerous territory. Very just talk like foghorn leghorn
- 45:02and you're all right, can you get him in julip in an energy drink?
- 45:09You probably could, yeah, get probably. Yeah, you can make
- 45:13anything with the red bull. So there you go, there you go,
- 45:15and then you know everybody got r well. Mary Near kept on getting stabbed.
- 45:20Yeah. I love that part was funny. I love that. That's
- 45:22the part where I laughed out loud. Happen the same spot. It seems
- 45:30like everybody's comes from royalty on this show or something. Yeah, yeah,
- 45:38you come from something. It was like, where's the just the mundane family.
- 45:43That's just like there's mom and dad even there some extent. I mean
- 45:46her mom's a captain. Yeah yeah, but that's an admiral. Yeah that's
- 45:52true. Yeah, and uh uh. You know, Bomler's family owns a
- 45:55vineyard, so they're all well to they're all well to do people. It'd
- 46:00be nice to find out that, you know, some moms the hoarder and
- 46:04has thirty cats. Most like mainline of them all, like he's just he
- 46:09just went to school and yeah, yeah, you go to the planet,
- 46:15it's just all hoarded and it's just got cats everywhere and it's like, oh
- 46:19my bedrooms around here somewhere, gonna move these boxes. So that's good.
- 46:27That's the backstory. I want to see. I want to see the messy
- 46:31uh star Trek citizen or whatever you call them. What are they called,
- 46:37brain went Blank Federation Citizens Federation? Yeah, you know, well Raffi lived
- 46:43in a trailer and drank alcohol, So that's true, yep, honest from
- 46:47the cat order. Probably, yes, yes, they'd be funny. Our
- 46:52whole world's like scratching post everywhere. Yeah, they can like need So what
- 46:59do they have for pets? People? Little dogs, still dogs. Cats.
- 47:05We haven't seen a lot of really well yeah, that's the other thing
- 47:08this season. You haven't really seen the upper decks, Like yeah, well
- 47:13we have in the Facebook group, but yeah, that's true. You haven't
- 47:17seen Shacks. You haven't seen Yeah, you even't seen Shacks either. No,
- 47:25it just barely saw him this episode. Even Jerry O'Connell's character has been
- 47:30kind of sideline this year. He first episode he got his new grill.
- 47:35Yeah, yeah, he gots a new grill. That's right. Yeah.
- 47:38I would like to see some of the other characters too, like them interacting
- 47:43with them too. You have to see that. But this episode is it
- 47:47was good. I like the Martoin parks, the Ryan parks. It's like,
- 47:51okay, she used everything, blah blah blah blah. Oh rap,
- 47:55my good man, oh Rain, all right, I will bid you adu
- 48:04did they go did they address something about the pheromones that Tindee doesn't do the
- 48:08pheromone thing? Yeah, not every o Ryan has them? Okay, okay,
- 48:13because they kind of that that, they kind of went by that real
- 48:15quick. Yeah, it was their cop out for yeah right, okay,
- 48:22all right. We also got another caller, as it would be uh t
- 48:25Bear is joining in the gear nice in the gear represent Oh there you go.
- 48:31Yeah, they just went to you know, wish Chad and his family
- 48:36all the best. So we'll see him back soon. Don't get too don't
- 48:42get too comfortable, plastic. Yeah, and I think he made a mistake
- 48:52earlier. You said data. You're supposed to say data data, Scott Polaski.
- 49:00I corrected him, which is my job on this show. Correct,
- 49:04Chad, And since you're the new Chad, just buckle up. Is he
- 49:08like last years? Oh? I don't know. Is Chad inside of you,
- 49:19Scott? Because of Chad is its own? No, I don't need
- 49:22to hear about this Chad inside of me. He's right here, he's right
- 49:28here. Yeah, but where did he enter from? Well, we can't
- 49:31discuss that on this type of podcast. What happens in the pool stays in
- 49:37the pool. The chat. I'm sure you're listening to this. I'm sorry,
- 49:46Oh, I forgot. While watching the club scene, I was thinking,
- 49:57Man, this is gonna be Dan's favorite episode. Yeah, just you
- 50:00know, club outfits everything in the scenery. So I was just cracking up
- 50:06the whole time watching them and then love and Love and how they did it.
- 50:10It's going back to what they did with like enter present. He just
- 50:14mentioned it as the whole Pheromones things and yeah, it makes they're actually fixing
- 50:21or filling in backstory, which I think I don't know now because it's cannon
- 50:25and cannon out so I don't know if it's if it's considered cannon. So
- 50:30it's one of those where are we considering lower deck cannon now or not I
- 50:37don't think technically, but man, they have answered some Cannon questions in the
- 50:40past. Yeah, and they're still doing it. That's the great part.
- 50:46I mean, here's here. I mean it crossed over with Strange New Worlds
- 50:52and then they referenced those events on this show, so maybe it is Cannon.
- 51:01Well, and there's that there's that famous quote from Leonard Nimoy, who's
- 51:06just like, Cannon is whatever you want it to be. So yeah,
- 51:09that's nonsense. I love. Look he wasn't spock and then he was sucked
- 51:15later, so I don't know. Yeah, it's true. I'm not I'm
- 51:19not stocked, Yes i am, yeah, yeah, all right, yeah,
- 51:23anything else you want to bring up about the episode? Now, it's
- 51:29way better than those Very Short Trucks. In fact, I haven't watched it
- 51:32ever since that first episode. I can't bring myself to watch the rest.
- 51:36So maybe one day, but yeah, I'm okay, I'll just wait for
- 51:42the Pacold review on the Very Short Trucks, so that could come out,
- 51:45yeah, after after the writer's trick and everything, and yeah, I know
- 51:50it takes a lot of paclad brain power to those together, so right right,
- 51:53yeah, yeah, I can waiting game is going on about how the
- 52:01ladies were very much lusting after some of those Orian men. Yeah, they're
- 52:07into it, all right, Well thanks to you. Bart'll be good guys.
- 52:15Hey, I wonder if we're going to get a pack lead very short
- 52:19track. That would be interesting. I wouldn't mind seeing that. Yeah,
- 52:24yeah, I'll, i'll, i'll, I'll check my h check my contacts
- 52:29on the pac led world and see if they're talking. If a filming cruis
- 52:30been around, talk talk to your people, yeah, talk to my know.
- 52:35We're getting a newlix one like they're supposed to be. Oh boy,
- 52:38and I think they're supposed to be a Trip one as well. But yeah,
- 52:43okay, yeah I could dig that. I could dig that. Yeah,
- 52:47all right. Trip was a great character. And I did ask around
- 52:53on social media whether or not people watch Star Trick with the captions on.
- 53:00Overwhelmingly the answer was yes, and a lot of people were saying that they
- 53:05have found fun little lines that they did not catch before because of the captions.
- 53:08Yeah, so that was kind of cool. I have a setting on
- 53:13on the Roku where it's it's the captions on review, So if you back
- 53:17something up, if you're watching something and you and you back it up a
- 53:21few seconds. It'll put the captions on until you catch up to the point
- 53:24where you were, and then it turns them off. So I like I
- 53:28like that. Okay, I like that because if I miss something, I
- 53:30back it up and I can I can read it. But watching something for
- 53:34the first time with the captions on is distracting for me. I find I
- 53:38find I miss things visually, right, shell right, Okay, all right.
- 53:45I'm also still watching the original series. I just watched the episode right
- 53:50after the Menagerie two parter, and it was I couldn't even tell you what
- 53:57it was about. I mean, I'm gonna I'm gonna keep watching. Desrae
- 54:04and I are are committed to you know, we also are going to suffer
- 54:07for the people, indeed. But I'm just curious about backstories from things in
- 54:14yeah strangy worlds that connect directly to the original series. I just watched that
- 54:22that new movie on Hulu, No One Will Save You But the the girl
- 54:27who her home gets invaded by aliens. What. Yeah, it's it's a
- 54:32Hulu only movie. It's like ninety minutes. Good. Yeah, it's it's
- 54:38a thriller. You know, she lives out in the middle of nowhere all
- 54:43of a sudden aliens attack and really, yeah, it's it's pretty neat,
- 54:46pretty well done. No one's got one of my favorite troops. Characters really
- 54:50don't talk, so that was kind of cool. No one will save you.
- 54:55It's really good. Smoothe out there. But it's fun. Well,
- 55:01you brought it up, so now it better be. That's right. Yeah,
- 55:05And if I watch it and don't like it, that's right, you
- 55:07better check your inbox. My house turned to the ground. I'm gonna send
- 55:12you a nasty voice. Hey, uh, what about voicemails? So people
- 55:16will have to voicemail me, send me their their their MP three's. Keep
- 55:22it under two minutes, because then I can animate you and make it more
- 55:27visual for the podcast. So so we don't if people don't know. The
- 55:31easiest way I found it do it was to do a voice recording on your
- 55:36phone and send that file as an attachment to an email at track castn at
- 55:43gmail dot com. Yeah, and use the track cast email for now and
- 55:46uh yeah, keep it under two minutes, and then that way I can
- 55:49turn you into a little character and we can have fun. And that way
- 55:52we have talking jelly beans that looked like Ron Swanson and all sorts of other
- 55:58characters. So so can you animate uh? Can you animate anything like any
- 56:06any any? I don't know if I can upload pictures that I put into
- 56:10it. Okay, but because I know we have those lower decks style cartoon
- 56:17yeah of ourselves. If you can animate that, I'll leave you a message.
- 56:22We'll make some we can make very short track casts. Oh there you
- 56:29go, you go be trouble. Yeah, oh boy, but I will
- 56:37I will check into that. But for sure, there's hundreds of characters on
- 56:42the software, so I can all, right, should we commission should we
- 56:45commission a cartoon version of Scott? Or do we not know if we're going
- 56:50to keep them yet? Oh, we'll see. There's still a trial run.
- 56:53Yeah, so I gotta make myself worthwhile. I've got a couple of
- 56:59ideas for segments I could do. I'll get with you offline about a couple
- 57:02of those. Good yeah, good, yeah, very short. Then we'll
- 57:09decide if we're keeping it because you're still you're still under warrant. We got
- 57:13about ninety days. Yeah, this trial run here at will employment. Maybe
- 57:19maybe i'll animate the quicker reviews that I do, so there you go.
- 57:22Yeah, all right, right, all right, Scott has a provisional rank.
- 57:28That's right. Yeah, that's right. Yeah, I think you like
- 57:32my key character. Yeah, I checked the rotation. I'm pretty sure you
- 57:37have hold that clean up waste extraction. Good, perfect, Thanks a lot,
- 57:44looking forward to that. Now. Is this a holid deck that you
- 57:46two have been using for crying out loud? It's the one with what the
- 57:53jil h so good luck for those who don't remember, that's the Jennifer love
- 58:02Hewitt who Daniel is fatuated with. I believe that's right, the nineties.
- 58:14That's funny. All right, Well, thanks everybody for watching. We'll see
- 58:20you next week. All right, all right, bye, bye, guys.
