Good morning. This is the Sacramento Brief, your
• 0:08
weekday roundup of overnight headlines and what's
• 0:11
ahead across the city. I'm Carol. It's Friday,
• 0:16
October 3rd, 2025. Let's get you caught up. In
• 0:21
news, on Wednesday in the Country Club Cove neighborhood
• 0:24
of Sacramento, a mother was arrested after a
• 0:28
shockingly brutal assault on her husband and
• 0:31
young children. Deputies say 38 -year -old Farishta
• 0:35
Rahimi attacked her spouse and two children during
• 0:39
a violent outburst inside their Coral Bell Lane
• 0:43
apartment. One child called 911 saying, my mom
• 0:48
is trying to kill me with a knife. Rahimi is
• 0:51
now in the Sacramento County Jail, the jail on
• 0:54
multiple felony charges with a bail set at half
• 0:58
a million dollars. She is due in court later
• 1:01
  today. Yesterday evening around 7 p .m., a person
• 1:05
was struck by a vehicle at 29th and K Streets.
• 1:09
The area was closed off for a period of time
• 1:12
while the investigation took place. The pedestrian
• 1:15
was taken to the hospital with serious injuries
• 1:18
and unfortunately passed away. The driver stayed
• 1:21
on scene, and at this point, intoxication is
• 1:24
not suspected as the cause of this accident.
• 1:29
In City Watch, Sacramento has cut the ribbon
• 1:32
on a brand new Arden Arcade Bridge along Auburn
• 1:36
Boulevard. The $15 million project replaced the
• 1:40
nearly century -old bridge that no longer met
• 1:43
safety standards. The new structure is wider,
• 1:47
stronger, adds bike lanes, sidewalks, and an
• 1:51
extra left turn lane to ease traffic for the
• 1:54
31 ,000 drivers who cross it daily. Officials
• 1:59
say the bridge is now storm ready and designed
• 2:01
to keep the community moving safely for decades
• 2:05
to come. In today's weather, we'll have a high
• 2:09
of right about 69 degrees with a 55 % chance
• 2:13
of rain. In traffic, last check, the majors were
• 2:17
in the green. But do keep in mind, we do have
• 2:19
lots of construction going on around the Sacramento
• 2:21
area. So check your map. There will be some off
• 2:26
-ramp closures throughout the city. So check
• 2:28
it out before you head out. In events, celebrate
