  Living with a lasting name Everyone wants to be remembered
• 0:14
  for something. Whether we admit it or not, we
• 0:17
  all care about the name we're building.
• 0:20
  We want to matter. We want our lives to mean
• 0:22
  something. In a world obsessed with likes,
• 0:25
  followers, and recognition, it's easy to believe that being known
• 0:29
  is the same as being significant.
• 0:32
  But Scripture gently and firmly reminds us that not every name
• 0:36
  lasts the same way. Proverbs chapter 10, verses six
• 0:40
  to seven, says blessings are on the head of the righteous, but
• 0:44
  the mouth of the wicked conceals violence.
• 0:47
  The memory of the righteous is a blessing, but the name of the
• 0:50
  wicked will rot. That's a sobering contrast.
• 0:53
  One life leaves behind blessing. The other fades, spoils, and
• 0:57
  loses its value. This tells us that legacy isn't
• 1:01
  about being talked about, It's about being remembered for the
• 1:04
  right reasons. It's about the kind of impact
• 1:07
  your life has on others long after the moment has passed.
• 1:11
  Then we step into Acts chapter 5, where the apostles are
• 1:14
  standing in the middle of real pressure.
• 1:17
  They are commanded by powerful leaders to stop speaking about
• 1:20
  Jesus, to be quiet, to protect themselves, to play it safe.
• 1:25
  And Peter, speaking for the apostles, says something that
• 1:28
  defines their legacy. In Acts chapter 5, verse 29, he
• 1:33
  says we must obey God rather than men.
• 1:36
  That sentence cost them comfort. It cost them approval.
• 1:39
  It even put their safety at risk.
• 1:42
  But it also sealed the kind of name they would leave behind.
• 1:45
  Their courage wasn't loud for attention.
• 1:48
  It was steady, rooted obedience. They chose faithfulness over
• 1:51
  popularity. They chose truth over
• 1:54
  acceptance. And because of that, their lives
• 1:57
  continue to bless millions of people centuries later.

  Their names didn't rot. Their memory became a blessing.
• 2:05
  This challenges us in everyday ways.
• 2:07
  When you choose honesty instead of fitting in.
• 2:10
  When you stand for what's right, even if it costs you
• 2:12
  friendships. When you obey God quietly, when
• 2:15
  no one is cheering. Those moments feel small.
• 2:18
  But they are shaping your name. They are writing your story.
• 2:21
  You don't have to be famous to leave a lasting legacy.
• 2:24
  You just have to be faithful. Obedience to God has a way of
• 2:28
  outliving applause. Integrity creates impact that
• 2:32
  doesn't fade. And when your life points people
• 2:34
  toward God, the blessing continues long after you're
• 2:37
  gone. So the question is just will I
• 2:40
  be remembered? The real question is, what will
• 2:43
  my life leave behind? A name that fades or a memory
• 2:46
  that blesses? Let's pray.

  Heavenly Father, thank you for reminding me that how I Live
• 2:52
  Today shapes the legacy I leave behind.
• 2:55
  Help me to care more about obeying you than gaining
• 2:57
  approval from people. Give me courage to stand for
• 3:01
  what is right, even when it's uncomfortable or unpopular.
• 3:05
  Teach me to live with integrity, to walk in righteousness, and to
• 3:08
  leave behind a life that becomes a blessing to others.
• 3:12
  In Jesus name, Amen. What if the way you pray changed
• 3:16
  because you truly knew who God is?

  But the officers who came didn't find them in the prison.

  They returned and reported. We found the prison shut and

  locked, and the guards standing before the doors.

  But when we opened them we found no one inside.

  Now when the high priest, the captain of the temple, and the

  chief priests heard these words, they were very perplexed about
• 7:28
  them, and what might become of this one came and told them,
• 7:31
  Behold, the men who you put in prison are in the temple,
• 7:34
  standing and teaching the people.
• 7:37
  Then the captain went with the officers and brought them
• 7:39
  without violence, for they were afraid that the people might
• 7:42
  stone them. When they had brought them, they
• 7:45
  set them before the council. The high priest questioned them,
• 7:48
  saying, Didn't we strictly command you not to teach in this
• 7:51
  name? Behold, you have filled
• 7:53
  Jerusalem with your teaching and intend to bring this man's blood
• 7:56
  on us. But Peter and the apostles
• 7:58
  answered, we must obey God rather than men.

  The God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom you killed, hanging
• 8:05
  him on a tree. God exalted him with His right
• 8:08
  hand to be a Prince and a Savior, to give repentance to
• 8:11
  Israel and remission of sins. We are His witnesses of these
• 8:15
  things, and so also is the Holy Spirit, whom God has given to
• 8:19
  those who obey Him. But they, when they heard this,
• 8:22
  were cut to the heart, and were determined to kill them.
• 8:25
  But one stood up in the council, a Pharisee named Gamaliel, a
• 8:28
  teacher of the law, honored by all the people, and commanded to
• 8:32
  put the apostles out for a little while.
• 8:35
  He said to them, You men of Israel, be careful concerning
• 8:38
  these men, what you are about to do.
• 8:40
  For before these days Theudas rose up, making himself out to
• 8:43
  be somebody, to whom a number of men, about 400, joined
• 8:47
  themselves. He was slain, and all as many as
• 8:50
  obeyed him were dispersed and came to nothing.
• 8:53
  After this man, Judas of Galilee rose up in the days of the
• 8:56
  enrollment, and drew away some people after him.
• 8:59
  He also perished, and all as many as obeyed Him were
• 9:02
  scattered abroad. Now I tell you, withdraw from
• 9:05
  these men and leave them alone. For if this council or this work
• 9:08
  is of men, it will be overthrown.
• 9:11
  But if it is of God, you will not be able to overthrow it, and
• 9:14
  you would be found even to be fighting against God.

  They agreed with him, summoning the apostles.
• 9:20
  They beat them and commanded them not to speak in the name of
• 9:23
  Jesus and let them go. They therefore departed from the
• 9:26
  presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted
• 9:29
  worthy to suffer dishonor for Jesus name.
• 9:32
  Every day in the temple and at home, they never stopped
• 9:35
  teaching and preaching Jesus the Christ.
