- 1:25News. close to home. Their community grant applications
- 1:46are open right now with a deadline of January
- 1:4919th. The Community Foundation of Lenox and Addicton
- 1:53had another successful year of supporting local
- 1:55charitable causes and students thanks to the
- 1:58ongoing support of generous L &A donors through
- 2:01its endowment fund. The foundation distributed
- 2:03$107 ,000 $500 to 21 charitable initiatives in
- 2:082025 and continues to support local projects
- 2:11across a broad range of community needs, according
- 2:14to Foundation Executive Director Bob Baker. The
- 2:17Foundation also distributed $80 ,500 in student
- 2:21awards and scholarships to 28 Lenox and Addington
- 2:24high school students pursuing post -secondary
- 2:27education. Local community donors are inspired
- 2:29to create transformational change in L &A by
- 2:32creating funds that improve the quality of life
- 2:34for those who live in, work in, and enjoy this
- 2:37community," said Baker. This year we added two
- 2:40new funds from the Alkenbrecht family and the
- 2:43Earhart family. The community foundation collects
- 2:46donations from individuals, families, businesses
- 2:48within L &A, pooling these funds into an endowment,
- 2:52investing the money, and then distributing a
- 2:54portion of the earned income back to the L &A
- 2:56community through grants to local non -profit
- 2:59organizations, assessing diverse community needs
- 3:02and addressing them. Since initiating this new
- 3:05strategic plan in 2023, the endowment has grown
- 3:08by a million dollars and now stands at $4 .5
- 3:12million today, thanks to the generous donations
- 3:15and the investment growth. This includes the
- 3:18addition of five new funds created by local donors,
- 3:21bringing the total number of funds held to 44.
- 3:24In the past three years, the Community Foundation
- 3:26achieved its best years of fundraising in recent
- 3:29times by securing a total of $597 ,000. We owe
- 3:33a great deal of thanks to the hard work of our
- 3:35volunteer board of directors and our dedicated
- 3:38donors," said Baker. The Community Foundation
- 3:41of Lenox and Addicton is further reminding the
- 3:43community that it's accepting applications right
- 3:45now. For the 2026 Community Grants Program, grants
- 3:49applications are accepted online on their website,

- 4:05role in assessing the grants and student award
- 4:07applications. Grants for these projects come
- 4:10entirely from funds established at the community
- 4:13foundation by individuals families and organizations
- 4:16who want to build a community in which we all
- 4:18thrive together. A complete list of the funded
- 4:21projects is certainly available by checking out

- 6:22of recycling depot services at Violet Landfill
- 6:24in Odessa. The service will be running Tuesdays,
- 6:27Wednesdays and Thursdays from 8am to 4 .30pm.
- 6:30This service change has a response to the loss
- 6:32of access to recycling drop -off services previously
- 6:34available at the Kingston Area Recycling Centre.
- 6:37The change is due to updates to provincial recycling
- 6:40regulations and the absence of long -term funding
- 6:42through circular materials. Violet Road Landfill
- 6:45is located at 1346 Violet Road in Odessa. This
- 6:48service is available to Loyalist Township residents

- 7:05Initiative, I'm Ted Evans. This is North Shore
- 7:08News. Loyalist Township is reminding residents
- 7:19as winter sets in, stormwater ponds are not safe
- 7:22for any type of winter recreation. These ponds
- 7:25have constant water movement, incoming runoff
- 7:27and fluctuating water levels that prevent ice
- 7:29from forming evenly or safely. Ice may look solid
- 7:32but can be extremely thin in hidden areas. Snow
- 7:35can cover weak or unstable spots and winter salt
- 7:38applications entering the ponds can weaken ice
- 7:41and speed up melting, even during very cold temperatures.
- 7:44The Township reminds parents and guardians to
- 7:47take a moment to speak with your children about
- 7:48the dangers of walking, playing, or skating on
- 7:51stormwater ponds. Loyalist Township does not
- 7:53permit recreational activities on or near stormwater
- 7:56ponds at any time of year. These facilities are
- 7:58designed for water management, not recreation,
- 8:01and can be hazardous, especially in winter. For
