- 0:48She's a happy girl.
- 1:02God gives grace, more grace, and even more grace. He just keeps giving you grace.
- 1:09No matter how many times you fall, He picks you up and shakes you off and puts you right back on track.
- 1:15All you have to do is ask. Join us in this program, Living with Grace,
- 1:20As Kim Miller of Woman at the Well Ministries takes us through James 4,
- 1:256, which says, But he giveth more grace.
- 1:29Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.
- 1:34Hello and welcome to this broadcast of Woman at the Well Ministries. Let us pray.
- 1:39Our kind and most gracious, dear Heavenly Father, Lord, we thank you for this
- 1:42and other opportunity to come before you. We thank you, Lord,
- 1:45for your love and your mercy.
- 1:47And Lord, we're so grateful for your grace.
- 1:49I pray, dear Heavenly Father, that you would open up our hearts and our minds
- 1:53as we think about this term grace.
- 1:56That we would understand the gift that it is that you give us.
- 1:59That we would understand how it is that you deal with each one of us and how
- 2:04it is that we stand before you.
- 2:06I pray, dear Heavenly Father, that you would just instill in us the knowledge
- 2:11to know how much you love us and how much you care for us.
- 2:16I pray, dear Heavenly Father, that that knowledge would help us to come to you
- 2:20in times of trouble, to come to you, Lord, in times of good,
- 2:24and that we would find ourselves focused upon you every day and every moment.
- 2:29I pray, dear Heavenly Father, that you would help us to have the courage to trust and obey.
- 2:35And I pray, dear Heavenly Father, that you would keep us in your word,
- 2:38that we may ever be found doing what you'd have us to do.
- 2:42Thank you, Lord, for giving us grace and not dealing with us according to what our merit is.
- 2:48And I thank you, Lord, for your grace that covers my multitude of sins with your love.
- 2:53And I thank you, Lord, that you treat me through your eyes of mercy and grace, and that's how you...
- 3:02Deal with me every moment of every day and not what I deserve.
- 3:06Lord, thank you so much for loving me. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen.
- 3:12Grace has been termed unmerited favor.
- 3:16And when the Lord deals with each one of us, he deals with us in a way that
- 3:25is completely covered in grace.
- 3:29Because none of us on our own merit have the right to stand before an almighty
- 3:36God who is sinless and perfect.
- 3:39None of us have within us anything that would make us worth the blood of God's
- 3:48only begotten son and the life that Jesus himself gave that we might have life.
- 3:54That is a type of love that
- 3:58is nearly incomprehensible by
- 4:02mortal man knowing that the love
- 4:05that god has for us is unconditional i didn't
- 4:09do anything to earn it and i can't
- 4:12do anything to lose it in fact the scripture
- 4:15tells us that nothing will separate us from the love of god
- 4:17and the scripture also tells us that it's
- 4:20by grace we're saved and when we begin to
- 4:23look at the grace that god gave
- 4:26us it's completely limitless it's immeasurable against anything that we have
- 4:35on this earth to measure the greatest gift that you've been given on earth cannot
- 4:40compare to the gifts that God has given us in his son, Jesus Christ.
- 4:47The most amazing amounts of love that you may have been shown,
- 4:51pale in comparison to the love that Christ has for each and every one of us.
- 4:57And he loves us despite the fact that many times, some of us,
- 5:03if not most of us, are unlovable.
- 5:06In that we continually make the same sins, the same mistakes,
- 5:12the same errors, day in and day out.
- 5:15And the Lord knows what is in our hearts and he knows what is our intent and
- 5:20he knows what our capabilities are and he reaches out and gives us grace.
- 5:27And just when you think that you've gone as far as you can go and you've exhausted
- 5:33the amount of grace he has for you, he gives it to you again, even more.
- 5:40You see the verse that we're talking about
- 5:42today in james chapter 4 and verse 6 says he
- 5:46gives more grace but it says
- 5:49that he resisted the proud but he gives
- 5:52grace to the humble see a proud person
- 5:55will remove themselves from the
- 5:58will of god either intentionally or unintentionally
- 6:03but the actions of a proud person will
- 6:06be actions that demonstrate that they
- 6:09believe that they themselves have the
- 6:12ability to take care of what's going on in their life
- 6:15it'll be actions that demonstrate
- 6:18that they trust in their own abilities they
- 6:21trust in their own thoughts they trust in their own
- 6:25wisdom and for someone who isn't
- 6:28proud or isn't demonstrating self-reliance
- 6:32and they realize that every
- 6:36good and perfect gift cometh down from the father of lights
- 6:39and they realize that without christ
- 6:42we are nothing and we realize that everything that we are and everything that
- 6:47we have and everything we're ever going to be and all that we have done and
- 6:51all that we will ever do we've done because of the grace and the mercy and the.
- 6:55Love and the goodness of Jesus.
- 6:59When that person comes to Christ asking for favor, he gives more.
- 7:08Even perhaps if that person has made some decision or did some action to place
- 7:17themselves in the place where they need more of grace.
- 7:21They need more of God's help. They need more of God's understanding.
- 7:26They need more of God's counsel. They need more of God's wisdom.
- 7:30Even if that humble person has honestly made a mistake.
- 7:36The lord will mete
- 7:39out his grace to that individual
- 7:42again and again and again
- 7:45and as that individual needs
- 7:49more of jesus jesus will pour more of himself into him because jesus resists
- 7:56the proud because in all honesty the proud is resisting him they're not willing
- 8:03to submit under the mighty hand of God that he may exalt them in due time.
- 8:08They're not willing to follow the plans that God has for them,
- 8:12which will prosper them and give them a hope and an expected end.
- 8:15They're not willing to submit their will to God.
- 8:20And I believe that each and every believer right now at this moment needs to
- 8:26check themselves against the scriptures.
- 8:30They need to check themselves and
- 8:33realize that they need to come under subjection to the holy word of god.
- 8:39I've seen a very interesting phenomenon in my lifetime.
- 8:43I've seen individuals who have somehow become proud in their walk with Christ.
- 8:50And so they try to hold it over or exalt it up above someone else,
- 8:56that there's some big Christian and that, you know, God has done this for them
- 9:00and God has done that for them and that God shows them favor.
- 9:04And that in itself is a pride. And God doesn't like pride.
- 9:09God doesn't want us to use his blessings to hoard over someone else.
- 9:14God doesn't want us to use his word to beat someone down.
- 9:19God doesn't want us to think that we're more than we are.
- 9:23He wants us to understand that we can do all things through him, which strengthens us.
- 9:28That we will have all of our needs supplied by him to do those things that he's asked us to do.
- 9:36To be able to live the abundant life because he said
- 9:39that he came that we might have life and
- 9:42have it more abundantly as christians we
- 9:46need to love the lord and when we love the lord we're
- 9:49going to quickly see in his word that we are
- 9:52to love one another and it's impossible
- 9:55to love someone completely if
- 9:59you feel that they are beneath you and i
- 10:02think it's time that we really realize that
- 10:06but for the grace of God there go I and
- 10:09you can just slip yourself into any category that you want if it wasn't for
- 10:14your understanding of who Christ is and your willingness to allow Christ to
- 10:20live in you you too could be in the gutter somewhere completely dependent upon some substance.
- 10:27You too could be living a life of crime. If you have not allowed Jesus to be
- 10:33the one and all in your life to lead you, to guide you, to counsel you, to love you,
- 10:41to lead you in the direction that he has for you, it is only by his grace that
- 10:46you haven't found yourself following in horrible places that the devil is trying
- 10:52to lead you. Because be not deceived.
- 10:55God is not monk whatsoever, man, so if that shall he also reap.
- 10:59Be not deceived. The devil wants nothing good for you. And he may make whatever's
- 11:04going on around you look very enticing. But his main purpose is to draw you away from God.
- 11:10His main purpose is to get something between you and God that you place there.
- 11:15Because God hasn't moved.
- 11:17And God isn't putting anything in front of you. He says that if you'll resist, draw nigh unto him.
- 11:23He'll draw nigh unto you. And he says, to cleanse your hands,
- 11:26ye sinners, and purify your hearts, ye double-minded.
- 11:30He tells us in the verse in front of that, to submit yourselves, therefore, to God.
- 11:35Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. And both of those verses follow
- 11:40when he says, but he giveth more grace.
- 11:43We live in a world where the devil wants to control you, but greater is he that
- 11:49is in you than he that is in the world. You are victorious in Jesus,
- 11:54and he said that you're more unconquerors through Christ Jesus.
- 11:58In every situation, if you will humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God,
- 12:04he will continue to pour his grace upon you, offering you the way of escape.
- 12:10Showering you with his blessings, enveloping you with his love,
- 12:14and always leading you in the ways to righteousness and the ways that he has
- 12:22planned for you, which will lead you, as I said before,
- 12:25to prosper and have a hope.
- 12:28Jesus loves you with his very life, and he continually gives you his grace,
- 12:35unmerited favor, and all he asks in return is that you love him and follow him.
- 12:43Jesus loves me, this I know, for the Bible tells me so.
