- 0:13SPEAKER_04: If that's what Lane Kiffin is bringing to Baton Rouge, the SEC is on notice.
- 0:17SPEAKER_04: Rutgers gets embarrassed by you, Mass.
- 0:20SPEAKER_04: Oregon, number two in the country, 24-point favorites versus Boise State, needed their pass rush to bail them out in the fourth quarter just to escape 37-34.

- 1:24SPEAKER_03: How y'all doing this fine Monday?
- 1:26SPEAKER_00: Always good to have a day off, which means I got a four-day week ahead.
- 1:31SPEAKER_00: Can't complain.
- 1:32SPEAKER_00: Very nice.
- 1:33SPEAKER_00: What'd you do all weekend, Darren?
- 1:35SPEAKER_00: Man, been up at Shrinemont, a place familiar to a lot of our Discord and listeners.
- 1:41SPEAKER_00: Up at the mountains, I'll tell you a little story about Saturday morning.
- 1:44SPEAKER_00: We decided to go for a very short hike, a hike that should be up and back in an hour.
- 1:48SPEAKER_00: And we went with a couple friends, took a little hike, little clouds in the air.
- 1:53SPEAKER_00: We got up to the top.
- 1:55SPEAKER_00: As soon as we got to the top of the cross, had a nice little view.
- 1:58SPEAKER_00: A couple raindrops hit, couple more raindrops.
- 2:02SPEAKER_00: We started hiking back, and the skies unloaded.
- 2:06SPEAKER_00: And we just got pounded with rain.
- 2:09SPEAKER_00: And we were as far away as possible from back home at camp.
- 2:13SPEAKER_00: And we had a 30-minute hike down, luckily downhill.
- 2:17SPEAKER_00: And we just got pounded and it was pretty invigorating.
- 2:20SPEAKER_00: It was pretty awesome.
- 2:21SPEAKER_00: I think morale was high.
- 2:23SPEAKER_00: We had a couple teenagers with us, kids, Rob and Katie Reed.
- 2:28SPEAKER_00: Shout out to Rob, listener of the pod.
- 2:31SPEAKER_00: And uh we just got totally soaked to the bone, and it was pretty fun.
- 2:36SPEAKER_00: And then we went on with our weekend.
- 2:38SPEAKER_00: Listen to some music, sit on the porch, and just relax.
- 2:40SPEAKER_00: But that rainstorm was pretty intense, and we were out there in the middle of it.
- 2:45SPEAKER_00: Like a little Saturday morning shower on the mountain.
- 2:47SPEAKER_00: Oh yeah.
- 2:50SPEAKER_03: The shower you did not ask for, but you got one anyway.
- 2:52SPEAKER_03: That's okay.
- 2:53SPEAKER_00: For the rest of the weekend, all one pair of shoes is out of the question.
- 2:56SPEAKER_03: Totally soaked.
- 2:59unknown: Mr.
- 2:59SPEAKER_03: Francis, how about yourself?
- 3:00SPEAKER_03: How's your long weekend?
- 3:01SPEAKER_03: How is your long weekend going?
- 3:02SPEAKER_04: It is it's been lovely.
- 3:04SPEAKER_04: I spent a lot of quality time in front of the TV watching football.
- 3:08SPEAKER_04: James a couple of faucets in the uh bathroom upstairs for the kids.
- 3:12SPEAKER_04: Sharpened my knives this morning.
- 3:14SPEAKER_04: Just a real fun Labor Day weekend.
- 3:17SPEAKER_03: That's lovely.
- 3:18SPEAKER_03: That is lovely.
- 3:18SPEAKER_03: I wasn't anywhere as productive as either of you guys.
- 3:20SPEAKER_03: I spent all Saturday watching football.
- 3:22SPEAKER_03: We did go to the pool one last time.
- 3:24SPEAKER_03: The pool show does close.
- 3:25SPEAKER_03: So we got the kids get to go to the pool one last time, but now it's officially fall.
- 3:29SPEAKER_03: I did you guys go outside this morning?
- 3:30SPEAKER_03: Dare, I know you were on the road, but you could feel it.
- 3:33SPEAKER_03: It was not hot, it was a real temperature drop.
- 3:37SPEAKER_03: It wasn't cold, but you could feel the seismic shift in all the pressures, all the things.
- 3:42SPEAKER_03: Fall is upon us, so I'm excited for that.
- 3:45SPEAKER_00: It was an official ushering in of the fall season, I believe.
- 3:47SPEAKER_00: This weekend temperature dropped 10 degrees easily, a little bit more today.
- 3:51SPEAKER_00: Yeah, man.
- 3:52SPEAKER_00: Crisp in the air.
- 3:54SPEAKER_00: Feels like football.
- 3:55SPEAKER_03: Yeah, it feels like football.
- 3:56SPEAKER_03: Indeed.
- 3:57SPEAKER_03: All right, good stuff.
- 3:57SPEAKER_03: Let's jump into the agenda.
- 3:58SPEAKER_03: So today we're going to review week one action.
- 4:03SPEAKER_03: As Mark described in the uh in the intro, had some great stuff going on.
- 4:06SPEAKER_03: And then we're gonna do a quick six review.
- 4:09SPEAKER_03: Let's see how everybody did.
- 4:10SPEAKER_03: And Darren's gonna hit us with the quick six week two moving forward.
- 4:13SPEAKER_03: Uh, if you didn't get a chance to play, don't worry about it.
- 4:15SPEAKER_03: You'll have a chance to play again.
- 4:17SPEAKER_03: Uh Darren, just real quick, how many participants do we have this time?
- 4:20SPEAKER_03: Do you know off the top of your head?
- 4:21SPEAKER_00: Yeah, out of Discord, we had 12 12 responses.
- 4:24SPEAKER_00: Thank you very much.
- 4:25SPEAKER_00: Yeah, so we got a good sample size from the crowd, and I'll I got results for us.
- 4:31SPEAKER_03: Good stuff.
- 4:31SPEAKER_03: Excellent.
- 4:32SPEAKER_03: All right, so let's start with the calendar.
- 4:34SPEAKER_03: Let's start with Thursday.
- 4:34SPEAKER_00: So hold on, Mark.
- 4:35SPEAKER_00: What you got?
- 4:35SPEAKER_04: I was gonna say, do our listeners join in the Discord?
- 4:38SPEAKER_04: You can get a link wherever you're listening, whether on YouTube or wherever you listen to your podcast, uh, link to the Discord to join us will be available there for you.
- 4:46SPEAKER_00: Over you absolutely absolutely shout out to my buddy Seth from back home near Shrinemont.
- 4:51SPEAKER_00: I think he's our newest, our most recent subscriber.
- 4:56SPEAKER_00: Uh 15 Clay.
- 4:58SPEAKER_00: Yeah, our most recent blitzer.
- 4:59SPEAKER_00: Shout out to Seth, he filled out the form too.
- 5:02SPEAKER_00: We'll see how Seth and the Discord crew did.
- 5:05SPEAKER_03: All right, let's go ahead and jump into some action.
- 5:06SPEAKER_03: Let's know if we want to talk about some footballs while we're all here.
- 5:08SPEAKER_03: So we'll start with Thursday night and we'll kind of chronologically go through the calendar.
- 5:11SPEAKER_03: We'll do Homer's last and then we'll do the quick six.
- 5:14SPEAKER_03: Real quick, Thursday night, UMass Rutgers.
- 5:16SPEAKER_03: Holy smokes, UMass hadn't won a division one football game in like two years, something crazy like that.
- 5:21SPEAKER_03: They go down 37 to 21.
- 5:23SPEAKER_03: Greg Ciano, the greatest coach in Ruckers history, also might be on the way out.
- 5:28SPEAKER_03: Uh KJ Duff, first rounder for Rutgers, nine catches, 196 yards, three touchdowns.
- 5:33SPEAKER_03: Didn't matter.
- 5:34SPEAKER_03: Still lost to UMass.
- 5:35SPEAKER_03: Holy smokes.
- 5:36SPEAKER_03: I never had high hopes for Rutgers, although I do like KJ Duff.
- 5:39SPEAKER_03: I do think he's a NFL Sunday guy, might maybe even a first round guy, but good grief.
- 5:44SPEAKER_03: They paid UMass$1.5 million just to take the loss.
- 5:47SPEAKER_03: Tough.
- 5:48SPEAKER_03: Watch that.
- 5:49SPEAKER_00: I enjoyed watching this game.
- 5:51SPEAKER_00: It was one of the earlier ones on Thursday.
- 5:54SPEAKER_00: And so it's just good to see whatever football's on TV.
- 5:57SPEAKER_00: And there's my boy Pop Watson.
- 5:59SPEAKER_00: Watson was wearing a watching at tech.
- 6:01SPEAKER_00: Yeah, he was wearing a Hokies jersey.
- 6:04SPEAKER_00: Was it last year?
- 6:05SPEAKER_00: I mean, definitely played two years ago.
- 6:07SPEAKER_00: Two years.
- 6:08SPEAKER_00: He didn't play hardly at all last year.
- 6:10SPEAKER_00: The drone strike was on.
- 6:12SPEAKER_00: But two years ago, he got some game action and looked pretty good.
- 6:15SPEAKER_00: And I th I was saying to people I like Pop Watson.
- 6:18SPEAKER_00: Love it.
- 6:19SPEAKER_00: Saw him on the field Thursday doing his thing and so proud of Pop.
- 6:23SPEAKER_00: Didn't realize how small he was, but it didn't seem to matter on the field.
- 6:28SPEAKER_00: He was doing what he wanted to against Rutgers.
- 6:31SPEAKER_00: So go pop.
- 6:32SPEAKER_00: Absolutely.
- 6:35SPEAKER_03: Move on to the next one.
- 6:37SPEAKER_03: Thursday.
- 6:37SPEAKER_03: Buffs in a wild winner.
- 6:39SPEAKER_03: You guys watched this is a game I was actually watching.
- 6:40SPEAKER_03: Georgia Tech, Colorado.
- 6:42SPEAKER_03: Georgia Tech took the lead late, and Colorado got a touchdown.
- 6:46SPEAKER_03: Georgia Tech drove down the field, a chance to hit the uh walk-off field goal and missed it.
- 6:51SPEAKER_03: Really low-scoring affair.
- 6:53SPEAKER_03: Colorado might have some defense.
- 6:55SPEAKER_03: Uh Lamont Lester, their defensive lineman, three sacks.
- 6:59SPEAKER_03: Big day for the Buffs.
- 7:00SPEAKER_03: Uh, they were seven and a half point favorites.
- 7:02SPEAKER_03: Kudos Flowers to uh Dion and the Buff for getting the win.
- 7:06SPEAKER_03: Georgia Tech might be on fraud alert early.
- 7:09SPEAKER_03: They lost Buster Faulkner.
- 7:11SPEAKER_03: Haynes King's not there anymore.
- 7:13SPEAKER_03: Eric Singleton's not on that team anymore.
- 7:15SPEAKER_03: I still like Justin Haynes, the running back, but I am looking, I'm looking real crooked at uh Justice Haynes right now.
- 7:21SPEAKER_00: Anything on the uh Georgia Tech Buff.
- 7:23SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I got a question from Mr.
- 7:25SPEAKER_00: Franzen over there on the side screen.
- 7:27SPEAKER_00: So uh yes, sir.
- 7:28SPEAKER_00: This game kind of leveled the play in field between these two teams.
- 7:32SPEAKER_00: I thought Colorado was in the bottom quarter of the this league and uh Georgia Tech was somewhere near the middle, but I I was surprised by Colorado handling business.
- 7:46SPEAKER_00: And by the way, Alberto Mendoza looked pretty good.
- 7:49SPEAKER_00: He could sling that ball.
- 7:51SPEAKER_00: So I got some good stuff with him.
- 7:54SPEAKER_00: But question for Mr.
- 7:54SPEAKER_00: Franzen Colorado Buffaloes, do you believe?
- 8:00SPEAKER_04: I do not believe in the Buffaloes.
- 8:03SPEAKER_04: Both teams came out and it just I feel like they stalled.
- 8:08SPEAKER_04: I think Mendoza I think one good thing for the Buffaloes, they did get a lot of pressure on Mendoza.
- 8:12SPEAKER_04: Mendoza made some interesting throws early.
- 8:14SPEAKER_04: Interesting isn't good.
- 8:15SPEAKER_04: Uh, but he was getting hit a bunch.
- 8:18SPEAKER_04: And I'm just part of Colorado's yeah, I don't know.
- 9:05SPEAKER_03: Uh Mendoza did have a Mendoza did have a decent day.
- 9:07SPEAKER_03: Uh 17 for 20 for 23 for 277 yards.
- 9:10SPEAKER_03: He was, for the most part, pretty efficient, but it wasn't enough.
- 9:13SPEAKER_03: I really think Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets are gonna miss Buster Falk and the office coordinator who's now working for the Florida Gators a lot.
- 9:20SPEAKER_03: And the good news is it gets better next week when the Vols come to town.
- 9:23SPEAKER_03: So heads up for that.
- 9:24SPEAKER_03: Sitting uh two touchdown dogs there.
- 9:27SPEAKER_04: Did find it interesting that they were talking about Georgia Tech.
- 9:30SPEAKER_04: So Georgia Tech blocked either a field goal or a punt earlier in the game by from Colorado, and they made this like Georgia Tech has had the most amount of field goals or PAT attempts blocked in this period of time, only for them to lose on a blocked field goal.
- 9:43SPEAKER_04: I thought was very fitting for the game.
- 9:44SPEAKER_00: Georgia Tech has this tight end who's six foot nine, and so he's the guy who blocked the field goal, and that's about to be the story of the game.
- 9:53SPEAKER_00: And then, like you said, a blocked field goal lost it for uh Georgia Tech.
- 9:58SPEAKER_04: So that was I think we saw the six foot nine.
- 10:01SPEAKER_00: Oh, I think we saw the worst of Georgia Tech, and I expect them to play some good ball, and we saw the best of the Buffaloes.
- 10:07SPEAKER_00: I also do not believe Coach Dion.
- 10:10SPEAKER_00: Yeah, probably a bull team.
- 10:12SPEAKER_03: We'll see.
- 10:12SPEAKER_03: Moving on, Friday, December 4th, Miami flew all the way to California, week one, 45 to 6.
- 10:18SPEAKER_03: Darien Mentz's Heisman campaign has begun.
- 10:21SPEAKER_03: 27 for 34 and one yards, five touchdowns.
- 10:24SPEAKER_03: Malachi Tony's his Heisman campaign has also begun.
- 10:27SPEAKER_03: 12 catches, 234 yards, and three touchdowns.
- 10:29SPEAKER_03: And frankly, it could have been a lot more.
- 10:31SPEAKER_03: I think he was open on every single play.
- 10:33SPEAKER_03: Uh the Stanford did just could not have anybody in the secondary even come close.
- 10:37SPEAKER_03: Straight beatdown.
- 10:39SPEAKER_03: This Miami team might be better than last year's, and last year's team made all the way the national championship.
- 10:43SPEAKER_03: Did you guys catch any of this one?
- 10:45SPEAKER_00: Absolutely.
- 10:46SPEAKER_00: It was funny at the end of the game that they showed those Heisman rankings and Minsa at the top.
- 10:51SPEAKER_00: It's just like, oh, obviously.
- 10:54SPEAKER_00: It's this is like one of those why didn't I think of that moments?
- 10:58SPEAKER_00: Oh, Darien Minsa is Heisman favorite by not enough right now.
- 11:04SPEAKER_00: Yep.
- 11:07SPEAKER_04: They always talk about Mark Fletcher and his mom driving to every game in an RV, but that dude's a bruiser.
- 11:12SPEAKER_04: And the fact that you said Tony had 12 catches in the game.
- 11:16SPEAKER_04: In the first half, he had eight catches for 150 plus and two touchdowns.
- 11:20SPEAKER_04: The game was over at halftime.
- 11:22SPEAKER_04: But I love the combo of handing off to Fletcher and then hitting Tony just on the in the flat edge, let the man run.
- 11:30SPEAKER_04: Mime's gonna be dangerous this year.
- 11:32SPEAKER_00: So dangerous.
- 11:32SPEAKER_00: They're absolutely elite.
- 11:34SPEAKER_00: And I love Malachi Tony starting at like week six last year, and he was always wide open by himself.
- 11:42SPEAKER_00: There was every time the camera panned to him, there wasn't a person within 10 yards of him.
- 11:46SPEAKER_00: Oh my gosh, it's gonna be so dangerous.
- 11:48SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I reach him 2.0.
- 11:51SPEAKER_03: And he's not alone, they have weapons.
- 11:53SPEAKER_03: Cooper Barkate's over there, Fletcher's back.
- 11:55SPEAKER_03: There's gonna be Mensa's gonna have a lot of options, a lot of guys, ways to different attack.
- 12:00SPEAKER_03: That's I know it's obviously week one, but I'm already thinking about that my Miami Notre Dame game.
- 12:05SPEAKER_03: It's gonna define, it's gonna be the season-defining game for both those teams in a lot of ways.
- 12:09SPEAKER_03: So I'm really excited for that.
- 12:11SPEAKER_03: Other Friday action worth noting out Fresno State USC did not put the threes in this time.
- 12:16SPEAKER_03: 39 to nothing.
- 12:18SPEAKER_03: Jaden Maeva put another show.
- 12:19SPEAKER_03: The freshman receivers got theirs.
- 12:21SPEAKER_03: My only takeaway is this: if USC has a defense, and let's let's okay, let's be honest, it's Fresno and San Jose State, not exactly the who's who of college football.
- 12:31SPEAKER_03: If USC has a defense, because Lincoln Riley's all with your offense, just pay attention.
- 12:36SPEAKER_03: That's a space we haven't seen since I don't think Pete Carroll.
- 12:39SPEAKER_03: That might be, they have my attention.
- 12:42SPEAKER_03: That might be the national championship contender that no one's talking about right now.
- 12:46SPEAKER_00: Yeah, like Mark said a couple weeks ago, college football is just better when USC is up there, and that's exactly what's happened.
- 12:54SPEAKER_00: It's awesome.
- 12:55SPEAKER_04: I really like on that defense as a uh Chicago Bear fan.
- 12:58SPEAKER_04: I heard the very recognizable last name, Urlocker.
- 13:02SPEAKER_04: Kennedy Urlocker, Brian Urlocker's son is the safety.
- 13:05SPEAKER_04: He had two sacks in the game.
- 13:07SPEAKER_04: When he's coming off the edge, it was unstoppable.
- 13:11SPEAKER_04: And I think it's nice that I was just uh taking all these notes on him and just thinking like Gary Patterson and an Urlocker on defense is really gonna set up USC this year.
- 13:21SPEAKER_04: If they can sustain this, all right, you're beating up Fresno State, you show him out, but let's see what happens when they get a big 10 play.
- 13:28SPEAKER_03: I think they're next go ahead.
- 13:30SPEAKER_03: I think the next two games are kind of gimme, but they're hosting Oregon in week four or week five, and that's when it's gonna get real exciting, real quick.
- 13:37SPEAKER_03: So my just keep your eye on USC.
- 13:39SPEAKER_03: There's echoes of the USC of the aughts, so the teams that we uh grew up in.
- 13:42SPEAKER_03: That's my takeaway there.
- 13:44SPEAKER_03: All right, let's jump into the Saturday action.
- 13:46SPEAKER_03: I'm gonna start with Coastal Carolina, West Virginia.
- 13:49SPEAKER_03: Just a quick thing to point out, they won 31-24.
- 13:52SPEAKER_03: Like coastal get back in the game.
- 13:53SPEAKER_03: Cam Cook, Michael Hawkins, the running back quarterback duo is fun.
- 13:57SPEAKER_03: It is Rich Rod.
- 13:58SPEAKER_03: It might not exactly be Steve Slate and Pat White, Noel Devine of the 20 years ago, but it kind of looks the part.
- 14:06SPEAKER_03: That's fun for me.
- 14:07SPEAKER_03: What I don't like is Cam Cook, the running back getting 30 carries and their quarterback getting 20 carries.
- 14:12SPEAKER_03: They gotta find more ball carriers, but keep your eye on West Virginia, their ability to run the ball on the ground.
- 14:18SPEAKER_03: They've Cam Cook and Michael Hawkins are gonna be a duo worth paying attention to all of 2026.
- 14:24SPEAKER_00: As a Virginia Tech fan in the 2000s, not sure if I've mentioned that a thousand times yet, but West Virginia also, but having West Virginia back in the mix is also great for football.
- 14:35SPEAKER_00: And this is a great look ahead to UVA versus West Virginia.
- 14:39SPEAKER_00: We got a Virginia-West Virginia matchup coming up in a couple weeks, and it's being played.
- 14:44SPEAKER_00: It's the Duke's Mayo Bowl in Charlotte, North Carolina.
- 14:48SPEAKER_00: Been there, have a tub of mayonnaise to prove it.
- 14:52SPEAKER_00: But that's the mayo bowl here coming up, West Virginia, Virginia.
- 14:55SPEAKER_00: So that'll be fun.
- 14:56SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 14:57SPEAKER_00: And it looks like both teams should go ahead.
- 14:59SPEAKER_04: I think that's three things I dislike.
- 15:01SPEAKER_04: West Virginia, UVA, and mayonnaise.
- 15:04SPEAKER_03: It's a lot of things in one thing.
- 15:06SPEAKER_03: And look at looking at West Virginia's slate and Virginia's through then, they both should be undefeated by then.
- 15:11SPEAKER_03: That looks like a pretty marquee matchup.
- 15:13SPEAKER_03: So it'll be interesting to see both those teams in a game worth a damn.
- 15:16SPEAKER_03: So that's great.
- 15:17SPEAKER_03: Let's keep let's keep it rolling.
- 15:19SPEAKER_03: Pitt, Pitt Panthers hosting the Miami Redhawks, 14 to 59.
- 15:24SPEAKER_03: Miami's one of the better Mac teams.
- 15:25SPEAKER_03: I think they were like preseason number one or two to finish on top.
- 15:29SPEAKER_03: They're a good team, and they actually got taken outside the woodshed.
- 15:31SPEAKER_03: Only thing that really worth noting for me right now, Mason Heichel, 31 for 41, 453 yards, seven touchdowns.
- 15:40SPEAKER_03: That guy was quietly on ACC's underrated quarterbacks of the year.
- 15:44SPEAKER_03: I think that under the radar issue is over.
- 15:46SPEAKER_03: He is on all over everyone's radar.
- 15:48SPEAKER_03: Keep your eye on a Patton Arduozi team, which has always been good at defensive running the ball with a quarterback that can sling it.
- 15:54SPEAKER_03: This guy's better than Kenny Pickett.
- 15:56SPEAKER_03: He's better than even los even after losing guys like Rasheem Biles, they could play.
- 16:03SPEAKER_00: Keep your eye on the Pit Panthers space.
- 16:04SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and Mark, you I bet you'll agree wholeheartedly.
- 16:07SPEAKER_00: For 28 years as a Virginia Tech fan, Pittsburgh has always been a scary team.
- 16:13SPEAKER_00: It's like they're not bad.
- 16:16SPEAKER_00: They could always beat us.
- 16:18SPEAKER_00: They've always been it's never an easy week against Pittsburgh for every single year for 28 years.
- 16:26SPEAKER_04: I didn't join the Virginia Tech bandwagon until the uh Sean Glennon Taylor era.
- 16:33SPEAKER_04: So but I've heard a lot about it, and I've always loved a good Pittsburgh defense.
- 16:40SPEAKER_04: And Miami Ohio is not a bad team.
- 16:43SPEAKER_04: I know they lost the games last year, and then they finished up 7-2, and I think they brought a back-to-back Mac championship games.
- 16:50SPEAKER_04: So that's not a slough.
- 16:51SPEAKER_04: It's not going out there and shutting out a Fresno State.
- 16:56SPEAKER_04: They're not a bad team.
- 16:58SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 16:59SPEAKER_03: The middle, the upper, the middle tier of the ACC is looking more and more quality.
- 17:03SPEAKER_03: You got lots of teams on the rise, like Virginia Tech.
- 17:05SPEAKER_03: And I think Pitt deserves to be mentioned amongst those.
- 17:08SPEAKER_03: They're scary.
- 17:09SPEAKER_03: Here we go.
- 17:10SPEAKER_03: Moving forward, we got East Carolina, uh Alabama Christ and Tide, 10 to 48.
- 17:15SPEAKER_03: Hand up, that's on me.
- 17:16SPEAKER_03: I was pumping the uh preseason ECU vibe.
- 17:19SPEAKER_03: Mitch Griffiths, 10 for 16, 137 yards, one touchdown, one pick.
- 17:23SPEAKER_03: That's not gonna get it done.
- 17:26SPEAKER_03: East Carolina ran the ball 22 times for a total of net of two yards.
- 17:31SPEAKER_03: That's 0.1 yard per carry.
- 17:34SPEAKER_03: Alabama did its thing.
- 17:35SPEAKER_03: On the other side, Keelan Russell, welcome to the party, man.
- 17:39SPEAKER_03: He looks like a guy.
- 17:39SPEAKER_03: 18 for 30, 256 yards passing, rushed the ball 13 times, 86 yards, 6.6 yards carrying, a touchdown.
- 17:46SPEAKER_03: Alabama rushed for 250, about four and a half yards per tote.
- 17:52SPEAKER_03: My preseason take that Alabama was soft on the offensive line, defensive line.
- 17:56SPEAKER_03: Okay, didn't go a little way with some, but I'm not out on that yet.
- 17:59SPEAKER_03: I want to see Alabama against somebody who could push them around, no disrespect to the Pirates.
- 18:03SPEAKER_03: But for a week one showing, even after a little early first half rust, they came out and took care of business.
- 18:08SPEAKER_03: Any uh East Car East Carolina Bama takes?
- 18:12SPEAKER_04: It's nice to see Ryan Coleman Williams put up 130 yards.
- 18:16SPEAKER_04: Like when he first came out as a freshman, I remember thinking he was gonna be uh a Jeremiah Smith type, right?
- 18:22SPEAKER_04: Always in the Heisman, always his name in that list.
- 18:26SPEAKER_04: Um but it was nice to see him perform.
- 18:28SPEAKER_04: And I also like I was believing you.
- 18:30SPEAKER_04: I was drinking an ECU Kool-Aid.
- 18:32SPEAKER_03: Yeah, sexual aid.
- 18:33SPEAKER_03: I don't chose nothing.
- 18:34SPEAKER_03: No, it's it's poison, give you a stomachache.
- 18:36SPEAKER_04: I chose not to waiver wager on the banner game.
- 18:40SPEAKER_04: But man, they looked good.
- 18:41SPEAKER_04: They looked good.
- 18:42SPEAKER_04: I'm excited to see what they can do against their next non-conference game.
- 18:45SPEAKER_04: I don't think they're ready for SEC games yet.
- 18:47SPEAKER_00: I think Ryan Coleman Williams dropped about a hundred yards worth of passes.
- 18:52SPEAKER_00: He did.
- 18:53SPEAKER_03: He caught that many and dropped that many.
- 18:56SPEAKER_00: Yeah, if he puts it all together, like I just said about Pitt, Mike, you probably feel the same way.
- 19:01SPEAKER_00: It's like Bama, damn it.
- 19:03SPEAKER_00: Like any year, like there's never a year you get to skip and not worry about Bama.
- 19:08SPEAKER_00: It's that's exactly I have literally felt that way since 2007.
- 19:13SPEAKER_03: Yes, about Alabama.
- 19:14SPEAKER_03: I was like, this is gonna be the year they're gonna suck.
- 19:16SPEAKER_03: Incorrect.
- 19:16SPEAKER_03: Nope.
- 19:17SPEAKER_03: Also, one more thing I do want to point out.
- 19:19SPEAKER_03: I'm gonna I want to give uh Kaylin De Boer some flowers.
- 19:22SPEAKER_03: You could see that this is not Ty Simpson's passing offense.
- 19:25SPEAKER_03: He is shifting to the Keylon Russell skill set, moving from the pocket.
- 19:29SPEAKER_03: Obviously, Ty Simpson wasn't run the ball 13 times a game like Keelon Russell did.
- 19:34SPEAKER_03: This Alabama offense is also going to look different.
- 19:36SPEAKER_03: I think I can you can see if you watch that game, what they're trying to do with Keelon, which I think is interesting.
- 19:41SPEAKER_03: Keep an eye on that space.
- 19:43SPEAKER_03: He's probably only going to get better at that, assuming he can stay healthy.
- 19:46SPEAKER_03: Uh good stuff.
- 19:47SPEAKER_03: All right, let's keep it moving.
- 19:48SPEAKER_03: Nebraska 49, Ohio Bobcats 21.
- 19:52SPEAKER_03: Anthony Calandria show.
- 19:53SPEAKER_03: This is the former UVA and UNLV quarterback.
- 19:56SPEAKER_03: We've we have some experience with that young man.
- 19:58SPEAKER_03: He put on a show, he did his job.
- 20:00SPEAKER_03: 18 for 32, 275 yards, three touchdowns.
- 20:03SPEAKER_03: Love the freshman Jamal rule.
- 20:05SPEAKER_03: 15 carries, 122 yards, two touchdowns.
- 20:08SPEAKER_03: I do not like how easy it was for Ohio to move the ball and score.
- 20:13SPEAKER_03: It was a close, closer game than it should have been for a long time.
- 20:18SPEAKER_03: Good offense, bad defense.
- 20:20SPEAKER_03: I'm is Nebraska a player.
- 20:22SPEAKER_03: I if they're a threat to the Big Ten, I didn't see it on Saturday.
- 20:26SPEAKER_00: Yeah, Nebraska's just destined to suck.
- 20:28SPEAKER_00: I'm sorry, guys.
- 20:29SPEAKER_03: It feels that way.
- 20:30SPEAKER_03: It really does feel that way.
- 20:32SPEAKER_00: It got suck in the bones.
- 20:33SPEAKER_00: I'm so sorry, Nebraska.
- 20:38SPEAKER_03: Again, I do like what they're doing on offense.
- 20:40SPEAKER_03: I think Calandries can fit there well.
- 20:41SPEAKER_03: He really did scramble and look really good, but when you can't, when your defense has a hard time slowing down the mighty Ohio Bobcats, again, no disrespect to more.
- 20:50SPEAKER_03: I feel we're talking a lot about the Mac today.
- 20:52SPEAKER_03: Just they're that's not a good sign moving forward.
- 20:55SPEAKER_03: Anything uh Nebraska go ahead.
- 20:57SPEAKER_03: It was 13-7.
- 20:59SPEAKER_00: 13-7 Ohio early in the second.
- 21:01SPEAKER_00: Whoops.
- 21:02unknown: Yeah.
- 21:02SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 21:03SPEAKER_00: Go ahead.
- 21:03SPEAKER_04: A lot of Mac talk because I think I feel like they're opening up the season with a Big Ten versus the Mac like setup.
- 21:10SPEAKER_04: That's what a lot of the teams are are scheduling early in the season as almost their preseason game.
- 21:16SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 21:17SPEAKER_03: All right, good stuff.
- 21:18SPEAKER_03: Let's keep it moving.
- 21:19SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 21:19SPEAKER_03: Um this was a doozy.
- 21:20SPEAKER_03: I'm actually trying to be a dandy of the game.
- 21:22SPEAKER_03: Got this one unfortunately wrong as well.
- 21:24SPEAKER_03: Boise State 27, Oregon Ducks 34.
- 21:27SPEAKER_03: Really highly entertaining game.
- 21:29SPEAKER_03: I watched almost all of this.
- 21:33SPEAKER_03: Boise State brought its A game.
- 21:35SPEAKER_03: They played really well.
- 21:36SPEAKER_03: Oregon had a bad game, C game, still got away with the win.
- 21:39SPEAKER_03: Um, I was really impressed with uh just how crisp and how efficient Boise looked.
- 21:43SPEAKER_03: They are the G6 class for a reason.
- 21:47SPEAKER_03: I did not give them enough respect, especially going up to Outson in week one to look and play like that was really great.
- 21:52SPEAKER_03: Um to Corian Moore, out Oregon's receiver is an absolute video game joystick.
- 21:57SPEAKER_03: That touchdown where he juke those two guys was unbelievable.
- 22:00SPEAKER_03: That's a classic.
- 22:01SPEAKER_03: Oregon has too many five stars.
- 22:04SPEAKER_03: Oregon didn't ever at no point came even close to covering the line, which was 24 and a half point, but they got away with a win.
- 22:09SPEAKER_03: To week one, they beat what I think is a really good Boise team, so they'll take that.
- 22:14SPEAKER_03: That's gonna be a resume builder down the stretch.
- 22:16SPEAKER_03: Uh what are your boise Oregon's thoughts?
- 22:20SPEAKER_00: With that performance, Boise State, they're gonna be on a marching uh dish path of destruction towards the G6 bid.
- 22:30SPEAKER_00: They're like, look what we just did.
- 22:33SPEAKER_00: No one should ever get in our way the rest of the year.
- 22:38SPEAKER_00: Get your uh Hook your wagon to Boise the rest of the year.
- 22:41SPEAKER_00: I say they're looking good.
- 22:42SPEAKER_00: And I love Maddox Madsen.
- 22:44SPEAKER_00: He's been playing for so many years.
- 22:45SPEAKER_00: He's he is like see in the field, like a seasoned vet that you only see in the NFL.
- 22:53SPEAKER_00: He's just playing men man against boys out there.
- 22:57SPEAKER_03: So go bronze.
- 23:00SPEAKER_03: This is fun.
- 23:01SPEAKER_03: They're actually playing, they're hosting Memphis next week's, which we'll talk about in the next episode.
- 23:05SPEAKER_03: That's gonna be a dandy of a G6 game.
- 23:07SPEAKER_03: I'm I'm still Memphis still has a little twinkle in their eye.
- 23:11SPEAKER_03: I still have a twinkle in my eye for Memphis.
- 23:13SPEAKER_03: I'm pretty high on the Tigers, but that's gonna if Boise looks the way they looked in Outson at home next week, look out.
- 23:19SPEAKER_03: So we'll be on that, we'll be on the lookout for that one.
- 23:22SPEAKER_03: Let's keep it moving.
- 23:23SPEAKER_03: This was probably the ugliest slash craziest game football of week one.
- 23:26SPEAKER_03: Baylor 16, Auburn 17.
- 23:29SPEAKER_03: Came down to a fourth quarter, a touchdown drive, failed two-point conversion, was a right call.
- 23:34SPEAKER_03: DJ Lagway made a bad throw.
- 23:35SPEAKER_03: DJ Lagway made so many throws that I was so impressed with, and then so many throws where I was like, what are you doing?
- 23:43SPEAKER_03: 27 for 54 on a bad ankle, threw the ball 54 times, 330 yards, two touchdowns, and a pick.
- 23:50SPEAKER_03: Byron Brown, I think I maybe overbought my Byron Brown preseason stock.
- 23:55SPEAKER_03: He did not, he's gonna have a heck of a time uh scoring points in the SEC.
- 23:58SPEAKER_03: 26 for 35, 259 yards, three interceptions, zero touchdowns through the air, one on the ground.
- 24:05SPEAKER_03: What are your bail?
- 24:06SPEAKER_03: I don't know what the Baylor can Baylor and Auburn can both play defense.
- 24:10SPEAKER_03: What are your Baylor-Auburn takeaways?
- 24:15SPEAKER_04: I think DJ Lagway with the ankle injury was slowed a little bit, but even though like his passes weren't accurate, he was a little all over.
- 24:22SPEAKER_04: There was too many passes that he just kind of I say wounded duck out over.
- 24:28SPEAKER_04: And it was a really easy chance to get intercepted.
- 24:32SPEAKER_04: A little risky out there.
- 24:36SPEAKER_04: And then I like how somebody told me that Byron Brown is a poor man's Cam Newton.
- 24:42SPEAKER_03: I think that was my I think that was my reclaim.
- 24:44SPEAKER_03: Maybe Cam Newton two seasons ago at the NFL, not Cam Newton 2010.
- 24:48SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 24:48SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 24:49SPEAKER_00: So I got a friend who's a big South Florida Bulls alumni and fan.
- 24:57SPEAKER_00: So last year was a huge fan for the Byron Brown followers in South Florida.
- 25:02SPEAKER_00: And he said after this game, he said, I've been watching Byron Brown for all these years, and yeah, he's not gonna do very well in the SEC.
- 25:10SPEAKER_00: So take the Auburn Unders.
- 25:12SPEAKER_00: That defense is gonna that defense is waking up saying, We gotta get to work.
- 25:17SPEAKER_00: We gotta carry this whole team on our back here.
- 25:21SPEAKER_00: And so the defense is gonna show up, and Byron Brown unfortunately is not.
- 25:25SPEAKER_00: So take them unders for the War Eagle.
- 25:30SPEAKER_04: I'm glad that and the Discord, the uh Darren Day of three-game parlay was Baylor 25.
- 25:36SPEAKER_04: Was it 28 and a half under was a part of that parlay?
- 25:39SPEAKER_00: I jumped off called by you, Darren said the team total under for whoever plays Auburn.
- 25:45SPEAKER_00: Let's just ride that train until she goes off the tracks.
- 25:50SPEAKER_00: It's gonna be it's gonna be a minute for the market to just for that one.
- 25:52SPEAKER_00: That was crazy stuff.
- 25:54SPEAKER_00: But we'll see a ton of Auburn games in the yeah, like X teen to X teen score.
- 25:59SPEAKER_00: 13 to 18 final score.
- 26:02SPEAKER_03: I just thought Byron Brown was gonna they brought so much South Florida talent with them.
- 26:05SPEAKER_03: I always expected Auburn to play defense.
- 26:07SPEAKER_03: They have some NFL players on the defense, they have a great running back.
- 26:10SPEAKER_03: I kind of just thought it was gonna be one of my takes this offseason was the transfer portal.
- 26:15SPEAKER_03: Obviously, I'm laying Kiff, and I'm I'm talking to I'm I am all about the transfer portal at this point and my LSU fandom.
- 26:21SPEAKER_03: I kind of thought Oklahoma State and teams like Auburn were gonna have the kind of pick up our toll system, bring it with us, drop it in and be successful.
- 26:29SPEAKER_03: And that was clearly not the case, and especially not for Auburn.
- 26:34SPEAKER_03: They've got some stuff to work out.
- 26:35SPEAKER_03: I Byron Brown, I'm still I'm still high on him, but he's he has to get better, or he's not gonna score any points in in the SEC.
- 26:44SPEAKER_03: All right, we're killing the lead here.
- 26:46SPEAKER_03: We have to talk about this game.
- 26:48SPEAKER_03: Michigan 12, Michigan Wolverines 13.
- 26:52SPEAKER_03: The second Hail Mary.
- 26:54SPEAKER_03: Look, the call, I'm not even gonna talk about the Big Ten officiating.
- 26:57SPEAKER_03: I don't even know what that was.
- 26:58SPEAKER_03: They lost that game.
- 26:59SPEAKER_03: The clock expired.
- 27:01SPEAKER_03: Even though they got the win on their schedule, for all effective purposes, that's a loss for me because we're talking, we're looking forward.
- 27:07SPEAKER_03: We're talking what we want to know is we're gonna talk about Michigan.
- 27:10SPEAKER_03: Are they a playoff contender?
- 27:11SPEAKER_03: Are they gonna play Oklahoma next week?
- 27:13SPEAKER_03: And I don't like anything that I saw.
- 27:16SPEAKER_03: Bryce Underwood was 12 of 22 for 170 yards, one touchdown, one pick.
- 27:20SPEAKER_03: Seven 65 of those yards were on the JJ Buchanan Hail Mary.
- 27:25SPEAKER_03: So you're talking about 120 yards against Western Michigan.
- 27:30SPEAKER_03: I am all of my red flags are going off about Bryce Underwood.
- 27:34SPEAKER_03: I still love what they have in that building.
- 27:36SPEAKER_03: I love the coordinator hires, I love the coach.
- 27:38SPEAKER_03: Their defense is good, their offensive line did not play well.
- 27:41SPEAKER_03: They'll figure that out.
- 27:42SPEAKER_03: Their running backs are awesome.
- 27:44SPEAKER_03: Bryce Underwood is holding this team back big time.
- 27:47SPEAKER_03: What do you got?
- 27:49SPEAKER_00: Well, I remember, Michael, is that you had an unofficial hot take that I don't think made the air a couple weeks ago about the quarterback for the Mission Wolverines, which was what?
- 28:01SPEAKER_00: I don't remember Helmut tell me.
- 28:02SPEAKER_00: I can't remember what did I say?
- 28:04SPEAKER_00: Bryce Underwood, not a good quarterback.
- 28:08SPEAKER_03: He has all the five-star potential.
- 28:11SPEAKER_03: He's supposed to be that guy.
- 28:12SPEAKER_03: Obviously, last year the Sharon Moore thing was uh it was a bizarre year anyway, and he's a true freshman.
- 28:17SPEAKER_03: He had some flashes here and there, but there were reports in the spring as well that he really had a bad spring and wasn't seeing it.
- 28:23SPEAKER_03: At that point, Kyle Winningham was on campus and they're doing his thing.
- 28:25SPEAKER_03: I thought for sure by now they would have cleaned some of that stuff up, and it just does not look like they did.
- 28:31SPEAKER_03: They eke out a win.
- 28:33SPEAKER_03: If I'm a Western Michigan fan, I'm still mad about that.
- 28:36SPEAKER_03: Mark, what do you got on Western Michigan Michigan?
- 28:38SPEAKER_04: I mean, lived for it.
- 28:39SPEAKER_04: It'd be a moment, yeah.
- 28:40SPEAKER_04: That would be a moment I would not forget for a long time.
- 28:43SPEAKER_04: I think one thing after the game, we talked about the spread with Oklahoma coming up, and it was uh minus it was Oklahoma minus four and a half at right at the end.
- 28:53SPEAKER_04: It's now moved to five and a half.
- 28:54SPEAKER_04: But we are I jumped on the four and a half as soon as the game was over.
- 28:58SPEAKER_00: You see it's been jumped.
- 29:02SPEAKER_04: This is Western Michigan may have lost the game, but overall they won.
- 29:07SPEAKER_04: And Michigan, say they may have had a uh win a W in the win column, but that was not a big win.
- 29:14SPEAKER_04: That was bad.
- 29:15SPEAKER_04: If you look at it at the end of the year, if there's a decision to make, if Michigan, even if they decide, if they get some stuff together and they have a good season and it's borderline that they make the college football playoff, I think this is the type of thing that goes, well, we'll go with somebody else because of what you did that night.
- 29:30SPEAKER_03: We talked about this game when we picked it.
- 29:32SPEAKER_03: Obviously, we picked, I think it's some, I think on some bet we picked Michigan minus 27 and a half.
- 29:36SPEAKER_03: Maybe it was this one.
- 29:37SPEAKER_03: And we you and I said, what's the game strip gonna be?
- 29:40SPEAKER_03: Are they just gonna pack it in and protect Bryce Underwood and just run the bejesus out of the ball?
- 29:45SPEAKER_03: Or are they gonna let him sling it around, get some confidence, score some points?
- 29:49SPEAKER_03: I think they tried to do that and they couldn't.
- 29:52SPEAKER_03: And I think Western Michigan fear pretty quickly, oh, this guy can't throw the ball.
- 29:55SPEAKER_03: Even the routine stuff is tough is so hard.
- 29:57SPEAKER_03: And that's when they got really bogged down.
- 29:59SPEAKER_03: They were trying to get Bryce Underwood, they were daring him to throw, they were stacking the box, they were challenging the OFA offensive line, and they just had and Michigan just had no answer.
- 30:08SPEAKER_03: And I put almost all of that blame, some on the off-the-play calling, but a lot of that blame directly on Bryce Underwood.
- 30:14SPEAKER_03: He's got to get better real fast because Oklahoma is coming to town in five days.
- 30:19SPEAKER_00: Shout out to the Western Michigan Broncos for stepping up.
- 30:22SPEAKER_00: They won their conference, they won the Mac last year.
- 30:26SPEAKER_00: And shout out to this ESPN journalist.
- 30:29SPEAKER_00: The first headline I saw was Michigan, wait just a second.
- 30:34SPEAKER_00: Thought that was a pretty good headline.
- 30:36SPEAKER_00: That's what the game was all about.
- 30:39SPEAKER_00: Wait just a second.
- 30:41SPEAKER_03: All right, let's keep it rolling.
- 30:42SPEAKER_03: This might have been one of one more entertaining games that nobody saw.
- 30:45SPEAKER_03: UCLA Calbairs, 45 to 24.
- 30:48SPEAKER_03: It got away for it in the fourth quarter.
- 30:51SPEAKER_03: UCLA scored 21 points.
- 30:53SPEAKER_03: I thought Nico and JKS looked really good.
- 30:55SPEAKER_03: Nico went 14 for 22 for 184 yards.
- 30:58SPEAKER_03: I did throw a pick, but he also ran for a touchdown.
- 31:01SPEAKER_03: JKS, 24-41, 271 yards, two touchdowns, two picks.
- 31:05SPEAKER_03: Both those guys are fast, have live arms.
- 31:08SPEAKER_03: Uh I did your former JMU running back, Wayne Knight on the UCLA side, really liked him.
- 31:13SPEAKER_03: 8 for 71 for three touchdowns.
- 31:15SPEAKER_03: He had a field day.
- 31:16SPEAKER_03: I like UCLA and Cal.
- 31:18SPEAKER_03: I still do.
- 31:19SPEAKER_03: Both good teams.
- 31:20SPEAKER_03: This was a great game.
- 31:21SPEAKER_03: What do you got on UCLA Cal?
- 31:23SPEAKER_00: Wayne Knight, man.
- 31:24SPEAKER_00: Wayne Knight out of JMU looking like a real running back, like a NFL kind of speed in those feet.
- 31:33SPEAKER_00: Loved watching this game.
- 31:34SPEAKER_00: It was like look away, turnaround, another bomb for a touchdown.
- 31:40SPEAKER_00: That's what West Coast football is all about for me.
- 31:44SPEAKER_00: I want to see the scoring, run it up, points, yards, bombs, and that's exactly what they delivered.
- 31:50SPEAKER_00: So thank you, California, for delivering, as I joked, a classic ACC Big Ten matchup on the West Coast and just putting points on the board.
- 32:00SPEAKER_00: It was awesome.
- 32:00SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 32:01SPEAKER_03: Listen to UCLA's team rushing stats.
- 32:03SPEAKER_03: 32 rushes for 277 yards, six touchdowns, 8.7 yards a carry.
- 32:08SPEAKER_03: Yes.
- 32:08SPEAKER_03: UCLA is a run as a superstar running team.
- 32:12SPEAKER_03: That is interesting to me.
- 32:14SPEAKER_03: That is really interesting to me with Bob Chesney, former JMU coach taking them.
- 32:17SPEAKER_03: Mark, what'd you what do you got on this one?
- 32:19SPEAKER_04: I really liked Cal.
- 32:20SPEAKER_04: And I think I when you have a game with a new coach and you're getting a new system in, I can see where a UCLA could come out and just punch you in the mouth in the second half.
- 32:31SPEAKER_04: I know Chesney's a new coach there.
- 32:33SPEAKER_04: I like, is it Tosh Lupoy, the new coach at Cal.
- 32:36SPEAKER_04: And I think I want to watch this team get better throughout the year goes on.
- 32:40SPEAKER_04: Um because I think they're a good team.
- 32:42SPEAKER_04: They may have lost that night, but I think at the uh in three or four weeks from now, we'll be looking at Cal and be like, dang, they've gotten so much better.
- 32:49SPEAKER_03: I mean, the thing is holding them back is their defense, frankly.
- 32:52SPEAKER_03: And then that's what one of the things that Tosh was brought in to do.
- 32:55SPEAKER_03: That's what he did at Oregon.
- 32:56SPEAKER_03: He did a pretty high level.
- 32:58SPEAKER_03: So if he can make the defense just manageable, like just get good enough, then they got a shot to beat some good teams.
- 33:06SPEAKER_03: I am still it's again the score is not indicative.
- 33:09SPEAKER_03: They ended up losing by like 24 points, but that was not what the way the game went.
- 33:13SPEAKER_03: I'm still pretty bullish on the Bears.
- 33:16SPEAKER_04: But I think this is the first time they've actually had a chance to put some stuff on tape.
- 33:20SPEAKER_04: This is now the coaches will go look at it, see what we have.
- 33:23SPEAKER_04: Let's build the defense by what we've seen in the actual game film versus what we've done in uh training camp getting ready for the season.
- 33:31SPEAKER_04: And that's where I think Cal will get better.
- 33:32SPEAKER_04: Darren, what were you gonna say?
- 33:33SPEAKER_00: The score was tied going into the fourth quarter.
- 33:35SPEAKER_00: We're 24-24 all.
- 33:37SPEAKER_00: And so I maybe that just sounds like a brand new head coach, Tosh Lepoy, our boy Chesney, UCLA.
- 33:46SPEAKER_00: He's been in that position for a while, but Lapoy just didn't quite know how to bring his boys home in the in the home stretch.
- 33:53SPEAKER_00: I don't know.
- 33:55SPEAKER_00: But yeah, it was a fantastic game to watch, just all the speed and all the the explosive plays.
- 34:01SPEAKER_00: Wayne Knight, man, watch out for him.
- 34:03SPEAKER_00: I just love the way he runs.
- 34:05SPEAKER_00: He looks like he could take a game over and anytime he touches the ball, just one of those Tyreek Hill kind of guys.
- 34:11SPEAKER_00: Touch the ball and he could turn two yards into 45.
- 34:15unknown: Absolutely.
- 34:16SPEAKER_04: Wayne Knight, the name of Newman from Seinfeld.
- 34:18SPEAKER_04: Newman.
- 34:19SPEAKER_04: That's always that's a why whenever Wayne Knight touches the ball, I think of Newman.
- 34:23SPEAKER_04: That's right.
- 34:24unknown: Hello.
- 34:25SPEAKER_03: Uh good transition.
- 34:26SPEAKER_03: Let's go jump over to really quick with the former JMU coach.
- 34:29SPEAKER_03: Liberty against JMU.
- 34:30SPEAKER_03: Shout out to uh honorary Homer James Master University win the inaugural battle of the Blue Ridge.
- 34:36SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah.
- 34:36SPEAKER_03: This was actually a close game.
- 34:37SPEAKER_03: I think both teams are probably gonna win their conferences.
- 34:40SPEAKER_03: I still like JMU and the Sunbelts a lot, and I think I like Liberty and Cusa Conference USA as well.
- 34:46SPEAKER_03: Good defenses.
- 34:47SPEAKER_03: I don't really know what JMU is doing with both their quarterbacks.
- 34:50SPEAKER_03: Billy Napier is an interesting seven G C JC Evans went seven for nine for 61 yards.
- 34:56SPEAKER_03: Cam Camden Coleman went five for nine for 51 yards.
- 35:00SPEAKER_03: What is I don't know what that is.
- 35:02SPEAKER_03: I don't know what I'm just not clear on JMU's offensive philosophy.
- 35:07SPEAKER_03: They did have a nice day on the ground and they did play good defense, but I would say the exact same thing about Liberty is better throwing the ball.
- 35:13SPEAKER_03: Uh Deshaun Purdle Perdle, nice Purdy, excuse me, nice day.
- 35:17SPEAKER_03: Uh anything on JMU Liberty Inaugural Backyard Blue Ridge Ball.
- 35:21SPEAKER_00: Go Dukes, man.
- 35:22SPEAKER_00: That's where I grew up.
- 35:23SPEAKER_00: This is like the Darren Hometown podcast get to know Darren thing, but I grew up 20 minutes from JMU and always been a Duke.
- 35:32SPEAKER_00: My brother's a Duke grad.
- 35:34SPEAKER_00: And so go Dukes.
- 35:36SPEAKER_00: I'll be watching them the whole way.
- 35:38SPEAKER_00: I went went to Dallas, Texas, and watch them win the national championship.
- 35:43SPEAKER_00: What was that?
- 35:44SPEAKER_00: Seven eight years ago.
- 35:46SPEAKER_00: Yep.
- 35:48SPEAKER_00: Mark anything on the Blue Ridge brawl?
- 35:50SPEAKER_04: No, I just expected a little bit more out of JMU.
- 35:53SPEAKER_04: And I Liberty had a chance and they failed on fourth and two towards the end.
- 35:58SPEAKER_04: And I just expected JMU to take them out, actually.
- 36:01SPEAKER_04: I didn't expect it to be that close, but I do think JMU's defense showed up pretty well for the first three quarters.
- 36:06SPEAKER_03: They sure did.
- 36:07SPEAKER_03: And they JMU that's what we le coming in the season we thought that was gonna happen.
- 36:09SPEAKER_03: JMU's gonna have a good defense and a good rushing attack.
- 36:11SPEAKER_03: And that's what they did.
- 36:12SPEAKER_03: 31 carries, 173 yards, 5.6 yards a clip, and a touchdown.
- 36:16SPEAKER_03: They do that, that's gonna win you a lot of games in the Sun Belt.
- 36:19SPEAKER_03: So I'm expecting more of that.
- 36:21SPEAKER_00: Like I said, I'm a JMU homer, so I'm I'd like to say that this is where Napier belongs.
- 36:26SPEAKER_00: He was in this level of football before Florida.
- 36:30SPEAKER_00: He tried his, he took a shot, didn't work out, he was okay, and now he's where he belongs.
- 36:36SPEAKER_00: So this is where Napier knows how to win.
- 36:38SPEAKER_00: So go Dukes.
- 36:40SPEAKER_00: Let's advance to Sunday.
- 36:41SPEAKER_03: Wisconsin Badgers 13, Notre Dame 41, and Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
- 36:48SPEAKER_03: The game was never really the first half was back and forth.
- 36:52SPEAKER_03: I think probably a war of attrition.
- 36:54SPEAKER_03: Notre Dame took over in the third and fourth quarter, and that was all she wrote.
- 36:58SPEAKER_03: It was 13 to 10 at half.
- 37:00SPEAKER_03: Let's give Wisconsin some.
- 37:01SPEAKER_03: I told you they that uh Luke Fickle didn't want to get embarrassed, and I think he did a reasonable job doing that.
- 37:06SPEAKER_03: I like Colton Joseph, the old the ODU transfer still do 19 for 30, 217 yards touchdown and a pick against that secondary.
- 37:15SPEAKER_03: That's real good.
- 37:16SPEAKER_03: Obviously, couldn't get much done on the ground.
- 37:18SPEAKER_03: CJ Carr had a real solid outing.
- 37:20SPEAKER_03: They're just a balanced attack.
- 37:22SPEAKER_03: 19 for 29, 239 yards, two touchdowns.
- 37:24SPEAKER_03: So really like both quarterbacks.
- 37:26SPEAKER_03: I don't know if you guys caught that punt.
- 37:28SPEAKER_03: Wisconsin did a uh punt of the ball in the second quarter.
- 37:31SPEAKER_03: Yes, it might be the best punt I've ever seen.
- 37:33SPEAKER_03: It wasn't that far, but it maybe I think it was on the I think they were on their own 30 or so, kicked it, it bounced at Notre Dame's two-yard line, did a hard right turn, and it just surfed all the way down untouched and went out on the half-yard line with no interference.
- 37:49SPEAKER_03: I've seen but I've seen guys kick the ball to the coffin corner, and it's like one jump falls out.
- 37:55SPEAKER_03: That ball rolled halfway across the field on a tight rope just to go out of bounds at the half foot line.
- 38:01SPEAKER_03: That was unbelievable.
- 38:02SPEAKER_00: It was a thing of beauty.
- 38:03SPEAKER_00: I said to my wife as well, sitting on the porch uh camp last night, that is the greatest punt in the history of football, at least tied for first.
- 38:12SPEAKER_00: And then they pan to the punter.
- 38:15SPEAKER_00: And what's doing the gun?
- 38:18SPEAKER_00: He does a chip shot like Johnny Carson.
- 38:21SPEAKER_00: Oh my gosh, it was picture perfect.
- 38:23SPEAKER_00: And there's a YouTube channel that I do love called Isaac Punts, and he just talks about special teams, and so Isaac is gonna blow his eyeballs out over this one.
- 38:33SPEAKER_00: This was the perfect punt in the history of football.
- 38:37SPEAKER_00: Yep.
- 38:38SPEAKER_04: You give him 99 more chances.
- 38:39SPEAKER_04: I don't think he can do that one again.
- 38:41SPEAKER_00: That was no, no one can.
- 38:43SPEAKER_04: No, I was rude.
- 38:45SPEAKER_04: I was all about that golf swing.
- 38:49SPEAKER_03: I just want to give a shout out to Wisconsin D.
- 38:51SPEAKER_03: They held with they held Notre Dame to 350 yards.
- 38:53SPEAKER_03: 111.
- 38:54SPEAKER_03: Notre Dame only had 111 yards on the ball.
- 38:56SPEAKER_03: They ran the ball 20 times, held them to three and a half yards for carry.
- 38:59SPEAKER_03: My point, and I said this in the when we were in the preseason, Wisconsin's gonna be better.
- 39:03SPEAKER_03: They were never had a chance at this game.
- 39:05SPEAKER_03: I'm just they're not in the same weight class in Notre Dame right now, but I'm keep your eye on Wisconsin.
- 39:09SPEAKER_03: Colton Joseph is a dude.
- 39:11SPEAKER_03: I still believe Abu Sama is a really good transfer back, and they've got a defense.
- 39:16SPEAKER_03: I'm high on the Badgers.
- 39:18SPEAKER_03: We'll see how that uh pans out.
- 39:20SPEAKER_03: Other Sunday game.
- 39:21SPEAKER_03: This is probably the best game of the week.
- 39:24SPEAKER_03: Up North, excuse me, Louisville Cardinals 38, uh, Ole Miss 41.
- 39:28SPEAKER_03: The game ended with a walk-off field goal as time expired.
- 39:32SPEAKER_03: Uh, you guys, Louisville is good.
- 39:36SPEAKER_03: They are we were talking earlier that maybe UVA is number two in the ACC.
- 39:40SPEAKER_03: I am we'll find out what happens tonight with uh SMU and Florida State, but I loved what I saw out of Louisville.
- 39:46SPEAKER_03: Lincoln Keenholtz, the Ohio State transfer quarterback, did a great job.
- 39:51SPEAKER_03: Threw for 300 yards, two touchdowns, ran for another 70.
- 39:55SPEAKER_03: Isaac Brown and Kajan Brown are studs.
- 39:57SPEAKER_03: Trey Richardson, phenomenal rod receiver.
- 40:01SPEAKER_03: Really impressed with what I saw out of Louisville.
- 40:04SPEAKER_03: Ole Miss, where is your defense?
- 40:07SPEAKER_03: We all knew Trinidad and Kiwan were gonna get there, and they absolutely did, but where is Ole Miss's defense?
- 40:11SPEAKER_03: They were getting gashed.
- 40:13SPEAKER_03: What do you think?
- 40:14SPEAKER_04: You're absolutely right.
- 40:15SPEAKER_04: Their defensive backfield was destroyed.
- 40:17SPEAKER_04: I do think the defensive line got a lot of pressure on on Lincoln Keinholt.
- 40:26SPEAKER_03: Go ahead, Darren.
- 40:27SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 40:27SPEAKER_03: What do you think, Darren?
- 40:29SPEAKER_00: This one was where I went to bed last night, and the same thing with Notre Dame.
- 40:34SPEAKER_00: Watched till halftime and then called it quits, no internet connection up there.
- 40:38SPEAKER_00: So I went back to the room, watched on the highlights, good old YouTube highlights this morning.
- 40:43SPEAKER_00: And the highlight reel was so long because every single play had to be like bomb touchdown.
- 40:52SPEAKER_00: Next team, bomb, touchdown.
- 40:53SPEAKER_00: Next team, bomb, touchdown, other way, bomb, touchdown.
- 40:56SPEAKER_00: It was an absolute boat race.
- 40:58SPEAKER_00: So exciting.
- 41:00SPEAKER_00: Love that for Louisville.
- 41:02SPEAKER_00: Don't like that they play in my conference against my hokies.
- 41:07SPEAKER_00: But like I I think what I said last week we're looking forward to Louisville is that people underestimate this team in this conference for their aggressiveness and their they've got it in the trenches, they've got the physicality, they are well coached, and they just are headhunters.
- 41:25SPEAKER_00: So it's they're just a real team.
- 41:27SPEAKER_00: They're like they are not afraid of an SEC team.
- 41:30SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 41:30SPEAKER_03: I mean, there was 40 points in the fourth quarter.
- 41:32SPEAKER_03: It was absolute fireworks at the end.
- 41:34SPEAKER_03: It was not there was trending towards the under for a minute there, and then clearly not so much.
- 41:38SPEAKER_03: Mark, what you got?
- 41:39SPEAKER_04: I wasn't thinking much of Trinidad Chambliss going into the game, but I thought he had a great game.
- 41:43SPEAKER_04: And Deuce Alexander is awesome.
- 41:46SPEAKER_04: The wide receiver from Ole Miss, they oh, they were on fire last night.
- 41:50SPEAKER_04: And then Tate Richardson from Louisville looked really good too.
- 41:53SPEAKER_04: There were so many great explosive plays.
- 41:55SPEAKER_04: I would watch that game again later in the year in the playoffs.
- 41:59SPEAKER_04: That would be a wonderful combo.
- 42:01SPEAKER_03: Very happy with that.
- 42:03SPEAKER_03: All right, let's advance to the homers.
- 42:05SPEAKER_03: Before I think any would you either of you have any more games you want to touch on before we do the homers?
- 42:09SPEAKER_03: That's good.
- 42:10SPEAKER_03: I think we did them all.
- 42:11SPEAKER_03: All right, let's uh let's work through these quickly.
- 42:13SPEAKER_03: Uh Tennessee opened up against uh Furman, beat the breaks of them.
- 42:17SPEAKER_03: Uh true freshman quarterback, uh Brandon Faison, five touchdowns, exactly what you want to see.
- 42:22SPEAKER_03: Uh the the Paladins never had a chance.
- 42:25SPEAKER_03: Uh business as usual, all signs to Georgia Tech next week.
- 42:29SPEAKER_03: Anything on Tennessee Furman?
- 42:34SPEAKER_00: Being these three guys that I see on my screen right now, it's just a darn good week to be the homer team here, including Mike Benny White, our brother back home, and the Tennessee Volunteers throw in UVA for good measure and they're off.
- 42:49SPEAKER_00: But it's just so good to be a homer right now.
- 42:51SPEAKER_00: So let's get into the homers.
- 42:53SPEAKER_00: Absolutely.
- 42:53SPEAKER_03: UVA is off as he said.
- 42:55SPEAKER_03: Let's go to Iowa next, 40 to zero.
- 42:57SPEAKER_03: Some back and forth on the quarterbacks.
- 42:59SPEAKER_03: Nice sound beatdown of northern Illinois.
- 43:01SPEAKER_03: Hank Brown, 12-20, 129 yards.
- 43:04SPEAKER_03: Jeremy Heklinski, 7 for 16, 76 yard, touchdown and a pick.
- 43:08SPEAKER_03: Uh, even Jimmy Sullivan caught through the ball two or four times.
- 43:11SPEAKER_03: Mark, what this is your squad.
- 43:13SPEAKER_03: What do you see in this one?
- 43:15SPEAKER_04: I think the defense stepped up and did what the Iowa defense does, and they shut down a Mac team that had no right to be there.
- 43:23SPEAKER_04: I going in, I don't have a lot of confidence when Iowa is favored by 31 and a half, that they're gonna actually cover that.
- 43:30SPEAKER_04: And not only did they do that, they did it almost by the end of the third quarter, and then they just kind of slowed down and let the game go.
- 43:38SPEAKER_04: But a 40-0 win, uh actually, no matter who you're playing, shutting out a team in college football is a big deal.
- 43:44SPEAKER_04: I think they came out.
- 43:46SPEAKER_04: Once we get the quarterback situation settled, and I'm gonna be a Hank Brown fan because I think he just looked better.
- 43:52SPEAKER_04: He had the first three drives of the game, he looked really good with those scripted plays.
- 43:57SPEAKER_04: Hekalinski came in, he was all right, but by that point the game was over.
- 44:00SPEAKER_04: It was already 20 to nothing with 10 minutes left in the second quarter.
- 44:04SPEAKER_04: Um but when the pressure was on early, Hank Brown executed, and then Hekalinsky, he struggled when there wasn't much left to do.
- 44:14SPEAKER_04: So it was very interesting there, but I think they have to pick a quarterback and go with one because as I always say, when you have two quarterbacks, you have no quarterback.
- 44:22SPEAKER_03: I mean, this is just the most Iowa team.
- 44:25SPEAKER_03: I'm looking at this, I'm looking at these rushing stats 38 carries, 289 yards, two touchdowns, seven points six yards carries, suffocating defense, and the quarterback stats are just confusing.
- 44:35SPEAKER_03: Three quarterbacks through the three guys that threw more than four passes.
- 44:39SPEAKER_03: If that doesn't say scream Iowa to you, I don't know what does.
- 44:42SPEAKER_03: So here's hoping they can get some clarity moving forward in that one.
- 44:47SPEAKER_00: Anything anyway Iowa plays offense, like the classic old Big 12 play defense.
- 44:53SPEAKER_00: It's just like the unit that's like, okay, good luck, boys.
- 44:57SPEAKER_00: We don't have a game plan.
- 44:58SPEAKER_00: What do we do, coach?
- 44:59SPEAKER_00: I don't know.
- 44:59SPEAKER_00: Just get out there and do something.
- 45:02SPEAKER_03: What's the Michigan?
- 45:03SPEAKER_03: And all of a sudden that Michigan game looks different.
- 45:05SPEAKER_03: Two teams with good defense, decent rushing attacks, and no passing.
- 45:11SPEAKER_03: Might be the most Big Ten ever Big Ten in the end of the month, but we'll talk about that in a couple weeks.
- 45:15SPEAKER_03: Moving on, the VMI key debts three.
- 45:18SPEAKER_03: Virginia Tech Hokies 73.
- 45:21SPEAKER_03: Darren, I'm gonna let you take the lead on this one.
- 45:24SPEAKER_00: Got two plays in mind that just give me absolute shivers of delight.
- 45:29SPEAKER_00: Mark, you know what two plays they are.
- 45:31SPEAKER_00: Mike, do you know what I'm talking about in there?
- 45:33SPEAKER_00: No.
- 45:34SPEAKER_00: Block that punch.
- 45:37SPEAKER_00: Oh, two be the double beamer ball, of course.
- 45:39SPEAKER_00: Double beamer ball, baby.
- 45:41SPEAKER_00: Oh my gosh, I was in that stadium.
- 45:44SPEAKER_00: I'm just a I'm a reminiscing fool right now.
- 45:48SPEAKER_00: When Beamerball was part of a chant and the cheerleaders held up that big sign, beamer ball.
- 45:55SPEAKER_00: And so just to see that aggression again and just absolute manhandling was wonderful.
- 46:01SPEAKER_00: Thank you, VMI, for making the trip.
- 46:05SPEAKER_00: Mark, got anything on that one?
- 46:07SPEAKER_04: I felt bad for VMI.
- 46:09SPEAKER_04: They were just, it wasn't fair.
- 46:12SPEAKER_04: The block kicks, just the defensive line looked outplayed.
- 46:16SPEAKER_04: I just felt for it.
- 46:17SPEAKER_04: A lot of great people at VMI, and I would I hate to see that they got embarrassed as bad as it was.
- 46:23SPEAKER_04: But I guess they expected it, and we know that from Charles's letter last week.
- 46:28SPEAKER_04: But man, Virginia Tech looked good.
- 46:30unknown: Yep.
- 46:31SPEAKER_04: And I'm excited for what they have going this year.
- 46:34SPEAKER_03: I was they look small, the VMI guys.
- 46:36SPEAKER_03: There was definitely a weight class difference.
- 46:38SPEAKER_03: And fun fact, Virginia Tech has the number one defense in the country.
- 46:41SPEAKER_03: They held VMI to a net 83 yards of total offense.
- 46:45SPEAKER_03: So not a bad look.
- 46:47SPEAKER_03: Look, James Franklin, could have started a whole lot worse.
- 46:49SPEAKER_03: So congratulations.
- 46:50SPEAKER_03: Good way to start the new regime in Blacksburg.
- 46:54SPEAKER_03: Good for you to do.
- 46:54SPEAKER_04: Take any of those VMI guys into battle any day.
- 46:57SPEAKER_04: Absolutely.
- 46:59SPEAKER_04: But on the football field, don't sort it, guys.
- 47:01SPEAKER_04: That was remote.
- 47:02SPEAKER_00: Any other hooky takes, Darren?
- 47:04SPEAKER_00: Michael, I'm glad you played it like this because I wanted to say, let's go LSU last, because the way we handled VMI, the LSU Tigers of Baton Rouge handled Clemson in the same manner.
- 47:20SPEAKER_03: Clemson ain't no VMA.
- 47:22SPEAKER_03: Clemson is no VMI.
- 47:24SPEAKER_03: Final score, Clemson 10, LSU 51, and those 10 points, other than the opening field goal, 51 straight.
- 47:31SPEAKER_03: That last seven points was a gimme.
- 47:33SPEAKER_03: Sam Levitt was everything, and then some 16 for 28, 230 yards, touchdown, and a pick.
- 47:39SPEAKER_03: The rushing stats, 58 rushes, 309 yards, 5.3 yards of carry, four touchdowns.
- 47:46SPEAKER_03: The defense was flying.
- 47:48SPEAKER_03: We haven't had an offense like this since Joe Burrow 2019.
- 47:53SPEAKER_03: The defense hasn't been that since the 2011 Honey Badger, Eric Reed, Sam Montgomery, uh linebacker core.
- 48:02SPEAKER_03: We haven't had defense like that in ages.
- 48:04SPEAKER_03: I it I it felt like a fever dream.
- 48:08SPEAKER_03: I didn't know what I was watching.
- 48:09SPEAKER_03: Watching this just absolutely dismantle that team.
- 48:12SPEAKER_03: What I don't know, my key takeaway, and as that the game was actually two days ago, is one, obviously the big question we'll talk about more tomorrow is was LSU that good?
- 48:20SPEAKER_03: Was Clemson that bad?
- 48:21SPEAKER_03: Clemson, I just want to talk about Clemson super quickly.
- 48:23SPEAKER_03: I don't want to I that game was so bad.
- 48:25SPEAKER_03: I was I don't want to chirp that much because that was just we're beyond that point.
- 48:29SPEAKER_03: Clemson was entirely non-competitive in that game.
- 48:33SPEAKER_03: They didn't get off the bus, they had no answer for anything we were trying to do on either side of the game.
- 48:39SPEAKER_03: There are still obviously that team of Clemson's team last year had seven or eight draft picks on it.
- 48:44SPEAKER_03: There are still some NFL guys on that Clemson team.
- 48:47SPEAKER_03: It did not look like it.
- 48:49SPEAKER_03: I thought Christopher Zena and Tate Reynolds were pretty much helpless.
- 48:52SPEAKER_03: I don't think either them really had much of a chance.
- 48:54SPEAKER_03: Um Lane Kiffin was going fast pretty much the whole way.
- 48:57SPEAKER_03: Even the backup Lyndon Clark and Hush Hassan Longstreet came in and had their way as well.
- 49:05SPEAKER_03: I remember talking about this game when we're talking about the pre- the picks for this game.
- 49:09SPEAKER_03: And I said to you guys, Am I crazy that I think that we're gonna win by 50?
- 49:15SPEAKER_03: I mean, it was even though I thought that was gonna happen, I never thought that was gonna happen if this meant that makes any sense.
- 49:21SPEAKER_03: I was like, I don't like I I believe in my soul that we're gonna do that, but then we actually did it and just looked and felt different.
- 49:28SPEAKER_03: What did it look like from a non-LSU stand?
- 49:31SPEAKER_04: Dominant, just dominant.
- 49:33SPEAKER_04: Sam Levitt was out there, just man, his legs, he's like bouncing around there out and then like bolting.
- 49:39SPEAKER_04: I do worry that he's gonna stay healthy and he puts himself in a little bit of risk that you don't need to put yourself into, but he looked electric after watching uh Jaden Daniels, who was good and he could run, but he wasn't like Levitt out there.
- 49:54SPEAKER_04: And then last year, Nussmeyer was a joke.
- 49:56SPEAKER_04: Um man, he looked really good.
- 49:58SPEAKER_04: And then who is that running back?
- 50:00SPEAKER_04: Dalen Jones?
- 50:01SPEAKER_03: Dylan Jones, Dylan Jones with the three-star Wisconsin transfer.
- 50:04SPEAKER_03: Holy smokes! Yeah.
- 50:07SPEAKER_03: I was surprised to see Stacey Gage coming to the UCF transfer.
- 50:10SPEAKER_03: Our two super superstar running back got very few touches, Harlan Barry and Caden Durham.
- 50:15SPEAKER_03: They're gonna they're they are in the doghouse, they need to work their way up.
- 50:18SPEAKER_03: If I'm gonna split hairs about LSU, I would say the only thing I didn't like, I did not like when Sam Levitt takes off, he is like a deer dodging folks.
- 50:28SPEAKER_03: He has got to get down.
- 50:29SPEAKER_03: We need that guy for several more weeks, and he we're gonna need him healthy and upright.
- 50:35SPEAKER_03: I'd like to see him take a couple dives.
- 50:37SPEAKER_03: They have a couple things on timing-wise.
- 50:39SPEAKER_03: There was a couple fades that were misses, a couple batted balls to the offensive line, but that stuff's gonna get cleaned up just with timing and more cohesion.
- 50:46SPEAKER_03: They're gonna practice that stuff through.
- 50:47SPEAKER_03: My point, this score should could have should have been 80 to 3.
- 50:52SPEAKER_03: And honestly, I think this LSU team has another level they can unlock.
- 50:56SPEAKER_03: When Sam Levitt gets his timing down with receivers, when we really figure out the pecking core and the receiving core, uh, this LSU team is gonna go up another notch, I think, if we get if we stay healthy.
- 51:07SPEAKER_00: The interception return touchdown, just classic LSU dominant defense.
- 51:11SPEAKER_00: Yeah, the whole play was totally blown up.
- 51:15SPEAKER_00: Michael, I just want to know when you're watching this game and you're just absolutely on cloud nine, would you say you watch the game more from a seated position or standing in your living room?
- 51:26SPEAKER_04: Well, I can I can attest to it since I sat next to him.
- 51:29SPEAKER_04: He just sat on the very edge of the seat the whole time.
- 51:32SPEAKER_04: Yeah, and then you could just see him just relax around halftime of like, this isn't real.
- 51:38SPEAKER_04: Is this real life?
- 51:39SPEAKER_04: Am I living this?
- 51:41SPEAKER_04: It was hilarious.
- 51:42SPEAKER_04: Sometimes I enjoy just to watch Mike watch LSU games because he's so intense.
- 51:46SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 51:47SPEAKER_04: And I always say, you bought the entire seat, but you're only gonna use the edge.
- 51:52SPEAKER_03: It was a satisfying, it was it felt like a big sigh of relief.
- 51:56SPEAKER_03: We haven't had a true rushing attack.
- 51:58SPEAKER_03: Jane Daniels notwithstanding, I would not call scram quarterback scrambling a rushing attack.
- 52:02SPEAKER_03: We haven't had a true rushing attack since 2019, and we haven't had a swarming attack and defense like this 2011.
- 52:08SPEAKER_03: It is a relief.
- 52:09SPEAKER_03: This is a new era.
- 52:10SPEAKER_03: Lane Kiffin is an enigma.
- 52:12SPEAKER_03: He's a one-on-one coach.
- 52:14SPEAKER_03: He's going to suck up all of the air in the room this season, especially if he puts on shows like that over and over again.
- 52:20SPEAKER_03: I don't know what fall 2026 has in l has in store for us as LSU fans, but I cannot wait to find out.
- 52:25SPEAKER_03: Very bullish on my titles.
- 52:27SPEAKER_00: I think we got to say that this puts Debo Swinney in a competitive nosedive with Mike Norvell as to who is gonna crash into the Mariana trench faster.
- 52:42SPEAKER_00: These two guys are absolutely racing to get kicked out of their own office.
- 52:47SPEAKER_04: To be the head coach at Liberty next year.
- 52:49SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 52:50SPEAKER_03: Something like that.
- 52:52SPEAKER_03: Okay, as enough of the review.
- 52:54SPEAKER_03: We'll talk about the week one games on our next episode, but for now we're gonna do a little quick six review.
- 52:58SPEAKER_03: Darren's gonna walk us through our the the quick six from last week, what we got right, what we got wrong, and then we'll start uh quick six for next week.
- 53:06SPEAKER_03: Darren, the floor is yours, sir.
- 53:08SPEAKER_00: All right, quick six rundown.
- 53:09SPEAKER_00: Um, we had six questions.
- 53:11SPEAKER_00: First one, I'm the only one to get it wrong.
- 53:13SPEAKER_00: Will Josh Hoover throw an interception?
- 53:16SPEAKER_00: Everyone else said no, and everyone else was correct.
- 53:18SPEAKER_00: So good job, everybody but me.
- 53:20SPEAKER_00: Will Ohio State and Georgia beat their opponents by a hundred points or more?
- 53:25SPEAKER_00: Yes, that did happen.
- 53:28SPEAKER_00: Go big guys.
- 53:29SPEAKER_00: Yep, Georgia, Ohio State dominant.
- 53:31SPEAKER_00: I also got that one wrong.
- 53:32SPEAKER_00: Discord got that one wrong.
- 53:34SPEAKER_00: Sorry, guys, thanks for being on my side though.
- 53:37SPEAKER_00: Which next question which stat will be higher?
- 53:39SPEAKER_00: Keelan Russell's longest completed pass.
- 53:42SPEAKER_00: We all said pass.
- 53:44SPEAKER_00: Discord didn't even say the rushing yards total, they split on it, and so we all got it wrong.
- 53:50SPEAKER_00: Discord got half.
- 53:55SPEAKER_00: He rushed for more, he rushed for over 80, but his long pass was 58 or something like that.
- 53:59SPEAKER_00: I can't believe they made it.
- 54:01SPEAKER_00: Yeah, he carried the ball a lot.
- 54:03SPEAKER_03: That's I guess they want to they guess they want to season their guy, but I'm I'm just I'm gonna say it again.
- 54:08SPEAKER_03: I'm a little surprised he got as many touches as he did because again, they're building the offense for his skill set.
- 54:13SPEAKER_03: I Austin Matt can't do that, so they're gonna need him upright and staying healthy.
- 54:17SPEAKER_00: So yeah, the the other side of that coin that we were saying we're they're gonna game plan him to stay safe.
- 54:23SPEAKER_00: He's a new, he's a kid, he's a new so it's get out there and feel what it feels like to get hit, take a hit and slide when you gotta slide, get out of bounds when you gotta get out of bounds.
- 54:34SPEAKER_00: Go through the motion, and so that's what they did with him.
- 54:36SPEAKER_00: He rushed for over 80, so dude's a stud.
- 54:39SPEAKER_00: Yep.
- 54:40SPEAKER_00: Which quarterback will score that touchdown sooner?
- 54:42SPEAKER_00: And it turned out to be JKS.
- 54:44SPEAKER_00: I think it was the it was opening possession or two.
- 54:48SPEAKER_00: Wade, you got that right.
- 54:49SPEAKER_00: Mark, we got that wrong.
- 54:51SPEAKER_00: Discord, you got it right with Mike Wade.
- 54:53SPEAKER_00: So good job, Discord.
- 54:54SPEAKER_00: Wade, if you're keeping track, you've got them all right so far, except for the one that we all got wrong.
- 54:59SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 55:00SPEAKER_00: So that's a little peek into uh Mike Wade, you're doing pretty well this week.
- 55:04SPEAKER_00: Which team will beat their opponent by a larger margin of victory?
- 55:08SPEAKER_00: This was by a hair.
- 55:10SPEAKER_00: UTSA won by a couple more points than Navy did the other day.
- 55:15SPEAKER_00: And so Mike Wade got it right again, along with me.
- 55:19SPEAKER_00: I think I got dead last last week, so this is a good rebound.
- 55:21SPEAKER_00: You did, Michael.
- 55:22SPEAKER_00: You're looking you're looking pretty good here.
- 55:24SPEAKER_00: You've you have bounced back.
- 55:25SPEAKER_00: Discord got that one wrong along with Mark.
- 55:28SPEAKER_00: Last question.
- 55:29SPEAKER_00: Will somebody do a Lambeau leap?
- 55:31SPEAKER_00: This one came down to a video review, and the question says during the game.
- 55:38SPEAKER_00: The answer's no.
- 55:39SPEAKER_00: Wade, you're the one that got this right.
- 55:42SPEAKER_04: Because the every touchdown last night I was looking for it.
- 55:45SPEAKER_00: Me too.
- 55:45SPEAKER_00: I was love me too, absolutely.
- 55:47SPEAKER_00: And so after the game was over, the fighting Irish, they went to the stands and did the leap.
- 55:52SPEAKER_00: They waited until after the game to celebrate with the Lambeau leap.
- 55:55SPEAKER_00: Wade, you're the only one that got it right.
- 55:57SPEAKER_00: You got five out of six.
- 55:58SPEAKER_03: Not bad.
- 55:59SPEAKER_03: No, I will say I was one of the reasons I thought there wasn't, and I was wrong about my reasoning.
- 56:03SPEAKER_03: I thought that was gonna be mostly red in the stands.
- 56:06SPEAKER_03: There, Mark was right.
- 56:07SPEAKER_03: There was a lot of Notre Dame fans there.
- 56:08SPEAKER_03: They were well traveled.
- 56:10SPEAKER_03: I thought it was gonna be like 80-20.
- 56:12SPEAKER_03: I would say it's 55-45, 60-40.
- 56:16SPEAKER_03: There was plenty of navy blue and gold in that in that stadium.
- 56:20SPEAKER_03: So they had people to catch them, but Notre Dame just decided not to do it.
- 56:23SPEAKER_03: That was very classy of them.
- 56:25SPEAKER_04: I think in the Barry Alvarez era, it would have been more 50-50, but in Luke Fickle, I don't think Wisconsin's supporting their team as well if they have been in the past.
- 56:36SPEAKER_00: Add any scores up.
- 56:37SPEAKER_00: We said after week zero, we're gonna combine Mike Wade.
- 56:41SPEAKER_00: You made a great comeback.
- 56:42SPEAKER_00: Uh you added five points this week to last week's two, you got seven points.
- 56:47SPEAKER_00: Dis Discord only scored two and a half points this week.
- 56:51SPEAKER_00: Mark Franzen's so sorry, you only got two this week.
- 56:54SPEAKER_00: That's stupid.
- 56:55SPEAKER_00: But adding my score to my one question correct this week gives me a tie with you, Michael.
- 57:01SPEAKER_00: We're both got seven points between the two weeks.
- 57:03SPEAKER_00: So we gotta find a uh we gotta find a tiebreaker.
- 57:06SPEAKER_00: Next weekend is your birthday, and so maybe we'll uh Indian leg wrestle for it or something like that.
- 57:12SPEAKER_03: Perfect, can't wait.
- 57:13SPEAKER_00: So, on to week two, quick six.
- 57:19SPEAKER_00: Play me a little, play me a little game time music here.
- 57:24SPEAKER_00: Uh got six questions for you, uh righty.
- 57:29SPEAKER_00: And look for these questions in the Discord, gentlemen.
- 57:32SPEAKER_00: Here we go.
- 57:34SPEAKER_00: First place we're going is Michigan, the big house.
- 57:38SPEAKER_00: You hinted at basically all of my questions this week in the last hour review.
- 57:42SPEAKER_00: But in Michigan, we got Oklahoma coming to town.
- 57:45SPEAKER_00: They're a five and a half point favorite right now.
- 57:48SPEAKER_00: Huh.
- 57:49SPEAKER_00: My question is, will Michigan even show up at all?
- 57:52SPEAKER_00: But the qu the question in the form of will Michigan score a touchdown?
- 57:59SPEAKER_00: Yes or no?
- 58:00SPEAKER_00: I think they might not even score a real football touchdown against the Oklahoma Sooners who are bringing a very real defense.
- 58:11SPEAKER_00: There's gonna be, they're gonna get in the end zone.
- 58:14SPEAKER_03: It might be garbage time, but they're playing in the big house.
- 58:18SPEAKER_03: It's gonna be loud.
- 58:20SPEAKER_03: A short field, Mateer, Muff Punt, end zone.
- 58:24SPEAKER_03: Give me, look, I'm I'm with you guys.
- 58:26SPEAKER_03: I am really having a hard time trying to decide.
- 58:29SPEAKER_03: I looking for optimism uh for my Michigan brethren right now, and I'm I I'm all on Oklahoma for week two for that game, but I'm not that out.
- 58:36SPEAKER_03: I got Michigan will get in the board, they will score 10, 13, 14 points.
- 58:40SPEAKER_03: They're gonna get in the end zone.
- 58:41SPEAKER_04: Okay, I'm gonna say just it's never really as bad as it seems, and it's never really as good as it seems.
- 58:50SPEAKER_04: Michigan go, I mean, if they lost that game, they would have been it's actually pretty bad already.
- 58:59SPEAKER_04: But I don't man, going in and scoring against Oklahoma, I don't think I think they're gonna score.
- 59:07SPEAKER_04: I think they're gonna score a touchdown.
- 59:08SPEAKER_04: I think Mike was right.
- 59:09SPEAKER_04: It may be in garbage time.
- 59:10SPEAKER_04: I don't see it in the first half, but yeah.
- 59:16SPEAKER_03: They only scored one touchdown in regulation against Western Michigan, and they had the made up second, and they got the second one.
- 59:21SPEAKER_03: So there you go.
- 59:22SPEAKER_04: Chalk me down as a yes for this one.
- 59:25SPEAKER_00: I got you both as yes, and I'm gonna go down as a no.
- 59:28SPEAKER_00: I think Michigan's in deep trouble here against the Sooners, who are gonna bring everything they got.
- 59:35SPEAKER_00: They want a big goose egg.
- 59:37SPEAKER_03: They're gonna throw all kinds of stuff at Bryce Underwood.
- 59:39SPEAKER_03: They're gonna we'll talk more about it in the preview, but they're gonna try everything they can to confuse him.
- 59:43SPEAKER_03: And if Bryce Underwood can't analyze Western Michigan secondary, I'm even less optimistic he can do so against Oklahoma.
- 59:49SPEAKER_03: But anyway, we'll talk more of that later.
- 59:50SPEAKER_00: Question number two.
- 59:51SPEAKER_00: Okie dokie.
- 59:53SPEAKER_00: Another noon game.
- 59:56SPEAKER_00: Alongside Michigan, we got Oregon going to Oklahoma State Cowboys.
- 1:00:02SPEAKER_00: What a letdown from Oklahoma State this week.
- 1:00:05SPEAKER_00: Ugh, gross.
- 1:00:06SPEAKER_00: Hand up.
- 1:00:07SPEAKER_00: My bad.
- 1:00:08SPEAKER_00: Sorry about that, y'all.
- 1:00:08SPEAKER_00: What a letdown from the Oregon Ducks this week.
- 1:00:12SPEAKER_00: Ugh.
- 1:00:12SPEAKER_00: So, question is Oregon is this top six team that did not handle their business.
- 1:00:18SPEAKER_00: Everybody else pretty much did.
- 1:00:21SPEAKER_00: But Oregon has got a lot to prove here.
- 1:00:24SPEAKER_00: And so we got Oregon minus 22 and a half at noon at Oklahoma State.
- 1:00:30SPEAKER_00: My question is, they should come out, the Oregon Ducks, and dominate this game and show who they are against the Cowboys.
- 1:00:40SPEAKER_00: So will Oregon cover 13 and a half points by halftime?
- 1:00:45SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 1:00:47SPEAKER_02: Yes, they should be.
- 1:00:49SPEAKER_03: They brought their C game in in week one, and they know they have to clean it up.
- 1:00:54SPEAKER_03: This is gonna be a situation.
- 1:00:55SPEAKER_03: I would take the other side of this bet if they had taken care of Boise and they were one, they had won 31 to 7.
- 1:01:00SPEAKER_03: But because they played so poorly, uh, and they're even though the game is in still water, I believe, I think they're I think they're away from outsen.
- 1:01:09SPEAKER_03: Yes, Oregon is gonna make Dan Lanning has lots of bad film.
- 1:01:13SPEAKER_03: He can go to all of his guys and say, look at all the things you guys all did wrong.
- 1:01:16SPEAKER_03: All of you messed it up, you screwed up, you blew that block, you missed that wide open guy.
- 1:01:21SPEAKER_03: They are gonna be on a mission to correct the record, reestablish themselves to superpower, and not play their C game.
- 1:01:27SPEAKER_03: So I got, yeah, I got over Oregon covering the first half spread, no problem.
- 1:01:31SPEAKER_04: Mark.
- 1:01:31SPEAKER_04: I think Oregon, it took about a quarter and a half for them to wake up.
- 1:01:34SPEAKER_04: And if it wasn't for that muffed punt where the Boise State player had made contact with the punt returner from Oregon, I think I don't think Boise State scores again in that game, and I think it ends up more like 38 to 17.
- 1:01:47SPEAKER_04: I I guarantee.
- 1:01:48SPEAKER_04: So we're the quick six is let me clarify, it's 13 and a half halftime.
- 1:01:55SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I see that.
- 1:01:56SPEAKER_04: Oklahoma State did not look good.
- 1:01:58SPEAKER_04: We watched that game.
- 1:02:00SPEAKER_04: They went to Tulsa, they just stumbled out there on the field, and every chance they had they screwed up.
- 1:02:06SPEAKER_04: I think Oregon steps up.
- 1:02:08SPEAKER_04: I think they Dan Lanning's a good coach.
- 1:02:10SPEAKER_04: I think they learned from those mistakes.
- 1:02:11SPEAKER_04: They watched the film this week and they come out on fire.
- 1:02:15SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and I didn't take that number from Vegas.
- 1:02:18SPEAKER_00: I just I was flirting with 14 and a half or 13 and a half, but 13 and a half seems too easy.
- 1:02:23SPEAKER_00: I'll take a yes too.
- 1:02:25SPEAKER_00: They're out for they're bringing touchdowns to a uh field goal fight.
- 1:02:32SPEAKER_00: Yeah, first half.
- 1:02:36SPEAKER_00: Question number three, we're going to a place very scary in spooky season.
- 1:02:44SPEAKER_00: Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where the Pitt Panthers are hosting UCF?
- 1:02:50SPEAKER_00: Are they still playing football?
- 1:02:52SPEAKER_00: Who knows?
- 1:02:52SPEAKER_00: They are 3.30 in the in the midday window.
- 1:02:56SPEAKER_00: Now, like you said, Mike, Mason Heinschel threw for seven touchdowns to seven different receivers the other day, and so he's on the radar.
- 1:03:08SPEAKER_00: Question is, does Mason Heinschel throw for over or under 4.5 touchdowns?
- 1:03:15SPEAKER_00: Does he go for five touchdowns or more?
- 1:03:19SPEAKER_00: Or four or less?
- 1:03:23SPEAKER_03: You I like Scott Frost.
- 1:03:25SPEAKER_03: I like Alonza Bear.
- 1:03:26SPEAKER_03: I like their offense.
- 1:03:27SPEAKER_03: I think they are doing some things well.
- 1:03:29SPEAKER_03: UCF, I think they are going to make a bowl.
- 1:03:31SPEAKER_03: I think they're gonna do things well.
- 1:03:33SPEAKER_03: Where is that game, Darren?
- 1:03:34SPEAKER_03: Do you remember all the?
- 1:03:36SPEAKER_03: It's in pit.
- 1:03:38SPEAKER_03: I'm gonna say I'm gonna say under.
- 1:03:42SPEAKER_03: That's just too many.
- 1:03:43SPEAKER_03: That's just too many.
- 1:03:44SPEAKER_03: That's too many touchdowns.
- 1:03:45SPEAKER_03: He might walk one into.
- 1:03:46SPEAKER_03: I'm gonna say under.
- 1:03:47SPEAKER_03: I really like him a lot.
- 1:03:48SPEAKER_03: UCF is gonna bring more of a way bigger challenge than Miami Ohio Redhawks did in respect to the Red Hawks.
- 1:03:54SPEAKER_03: But four and a half touchdowns is too many.
- 1:03:55SPEAKER_03: I'm gonna take under.
- 1:03:57SPEAKER_03: He'll throw for four or three.
- 1:04:00SPEAKER_04: I'm gonna go opposite.
- 1:04:01SPEAKER_04: I'm gonna go over just because I need to make up some points in this game.
- 1:04:06SPEAKER_04: I'm gonna ride the Pittsburgh Lightning.
- 1:04:07SPEAKER_04: Let's go over.
- 1:04:08SPEAKER_04: Okay.
- 1:04:09SPEAKER_00: If you Mark Franzen, I say over as well, they'll let Mason throw five and start getting their brand and their team on the map even more than it already is.
- 1:04:21SPEAKER_00: Did you get that that DraftKings first half for Oregon?
- 1:04:24SPEAKER_04: No, DraftKings doesn't have a first half.
- 1:04:26SPEAKER_04: They don't have the half and loads now.
- 1:04:28SPEAKER_04: It'll later this week.
- 1:04:29SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it'll probably be 16, honestly.
- 1:04:32SPEAKER_00: Question number four.
- 1:04:38SPEAKER_00: We gotta go searching for a good game this week, too, because there's not much going on.
- 1:04:42SPEAKER_00: So here's a sneaky good game.
- 1:04:44SPEAKER_00: We got Mississippi State going to Minnesota.
- 1:04:48SPEAKER_00: All right, Big Ten SEC matchup.
- 1:04:50SPEAKER_00: This is at 3:30 as well.
- 1:04:54SPEAKER_00: My boy Cario Taylor is at the helm from Mississippi State.
- 1:04:59SPEAKER_00: And very quietly and understated, we didn't mention it, he went for 354 yards passing and four touchdowns the other day.
- 1:05:08SPEAKER_00: Mississippi State.
- 1:05:09SPEAKER_00: Okay?
- 1:05:09SPEAKER_00: Yep.
- 1:05:10SPEAKER_00: Question is does he keep it up against Minnesota?
- 1:05:13SPEAKER_00: Does Camario Taylor score combined touchdowns, rushing and or passing, over 3.5 touchdowns?
- 1:05:22SPEAKER_00: Does he go for four scores again?
- 1:05:24SPEAKER_00: And this includes passing and rushing.
- 1:05:27SPEAKER_00: Go Camario Taylor.
- 1:05:29SPEAKER_00: Do your thing.
- 1:05:30SPEAKER_03: I actually watched this game this morning.
- 1:05:32SPEAKER_03: I really like what Jeff Levy is doing with that offense.
- 1:05:34SPEAKER_03: Camario Taylor is Dak Prescott 2.0.
- 1:05:37SPEAKER_03: If you're a Mississippi fan, you gotta be feeling good.
- 1:05:40SPEAKER_03: Their defense need works, but Evans is a great receiver.
- 1:05:43SPEAKER_03: Fluff Bothwell is an awesome back.
- 1:05:44SPEAKER_03: They run that RPO.
- 1:05:46SPEAKER_03: I think I watched the game this morning.
- 1:05:48SPEAKER_03: I think Mississippi has one formation and five plays, and they just run it over and over again so well.
- 1:05:55SPEAKER_03: This game is also in Minnesota, but it's September 12th.
- 1:05:59SPEAKER_03: It's not gonna be negative 17 degrees yet.
- 1:06:01SPEAKER_03: So the weather should be good, should be crisp, like a 72 degrees in Minnesota.
- 1:06:04SPEAKER_03: They won't be slowed down by cold weather.
- 1:06:06SPEAKER_03: I am really bullish.
- 1:06:08SPEAKER_03: I really like what I see at Mississippi State offense.
- 1:06:10SPEAKER_03: So I'm gonna take the over on Camario Taylor.
- 1:06:13SPEAKER_03: Give me Camario Taylor over three and a half total touchdowns.
- 1:06:17SPEAKER_04: Mark?
- 1:06:18SPEAKER_04: I'm gonna go with the under.
- 1:06:20SPEAKER_04: I think Minnesota defense steps up and slows them down.
- 1:06:24SPEAKER_00: Mark, you took the words out of my mouth.
- 1:06:26SPEAKER_00: I think Minnesota is gonna bring the D at home.
- 1:06:32SPEAKER_00: I love Mississippi State, though.
- 1:06:34SPEAKER_00: For some reason, I'm just you know they're little train that could, little engine.
- 1:06:39SPEAKER_00: They could.
- 1:06:40SPEAKER_00: So go Mississippi, go Camario.
- 1:06:42SPEAKER_00: I'm going to go under three and a half touchdowns.
- 1:06:45SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:06:45SPEAKER_04: I think they're a little bit, I think Minnesota's a little bit better than Louisiana Monroe.
- 1:06:49SPEAKER_04: Correct.
- 1:06:50SPEAKER_03: No, Minnesota's Minnesota's legitimately good.
- 1:06:52SPEAKER_03: They've got four or five guys in the ESPN top 100 players this year.
- 1:06:56SPEAKER_03: One a couple on defense, a couple on offense.
- 1:06:58SPEAKER_03: So they're Drake Lindsay.
- 1:07:00SPEAKER_03: Darius Taylor is a really good running back.
- 1:07:03SPEAKER_03: I think it's a one-point line, I think, the game.
- 1:07:06SPEAKER_03: Mississippi State's like barely favored.
- 1:07:08SPEAKER_03: It's going to be a legitimately good game.
- 1:07:10SPEAKER_03: So if it turned into a slug match, slug match and low scoring, and I could see that happen, but I just I really like what I saw out of Tamario.
- 1:07:19SPEAKER_00: Say what?
- 1:07:20SPEAKER_00: Saturday at 5 30 p.m.
- 1:07:22SPEAKER_00: We're gonna all gonna be very thirsty for some football.
- 1:07:25SPEAKER_00: And this might be the only game that's gonna deliver something worth watching.
- 1:07:30SPEAKER_00: So there we go.
- 1:07:31SPEAKER_04: Yeah, the current line is Mississippi State by one and a half.
- 1:07:35SPEAKER_03: One and a half.
- 1:07:35SPEAKER_03: We gotta pick them.
- 1:07:36SPEAKER_03: Yeah, they are the they also they're also calling for 55 and a half points.
- 1:07:40SPEAKER_03: That's a lot of that's a lot of points for a mid-tier Big Ten team hosting a bottom tier SEC squad.
- 1:07:45SPEAKER_03: So they're they're expecting some folks to move the damn ball.
- 1:07:48SPEAKER_03: So you know, we'll see.
- 1:07:49SPEAKER_03: And Camario is our guy.
- 1:07:51SPEAKER_00: All right, question number five.
- 1:07:55SPEAKER_00: Oh, dropped the ball, excuse me.
- 1:07:56SPEAKER_00: Here we go.
- 1:08:00SPEAKER_00: Okay, Mike Blitzers.
- 1:08:02SPEAKER_00: Do you know who had the most receiving yards this weekend, week one?
- 1:08:09SPEAKER_00: I think it's an easy answer.
- 1:08:10SPEAKER_00: Say it out loud when you know it.
- 1:08:13SPEAKER_00: Malachi Malcatoni.
- 1:08:14SPEAKER_00: Malaka Tony for 234 yards receiving.
- 1:08:18SPEAKER_00: Do you know who and or what team he played on had the second most receiving yards?
- 1:08:26SPEAKER_00: Was it KJ Duff at Ruckers?
- 1:08:28SPEAKER_00: Oh he's up there.
- 1:08:30SPEAKER_00: Thunder uh Ole Miss.
- 1:08:32SPEAKER_00: Over 200 yards by Trent Mosley at USC Trojans.
- 1:08:37SPEAKER_00: Oh, right, of course.
- 1:08:38SPEAKER_00: Yep.
- 1:08:39SPEAKER_00: So we got Jaden Maeva throwing to Trent Mosley for 222 yards.
- 1:08:44SPEAKER_00: These guys both went over 200 receiving.
- 1:08:48SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and so these are our guys.
- 1:08:51SPEAKER_00: Uh here are the matchups this weekend.
- 1:08:54SPEAKER_00: USC plays at 11 p.m.
- 1:08:57SPEAKER_00: Uh this weekend.
- 1:08:59SPEAKER_00: Good luck staying up for that one.
- 1:09:00SPEAKER_00: Miami plays at 8 p.m.
- 1:09:02SPEAKER_00: We got two two uh two late games.
- 1:09:06SPEAKER_00: Question is who has more receiving yards this week?
- 1:09:09SPEAKER_00: Is it Tony or is it Mosley?
- 1:09:12SPEAKER_00: Let's look at who's looking at who they're playing this week.
- 1:09:17SPEAKER_03: Miami's playing hosting Florida AM.
- 1:09:20SPEAKER_03: And I'm not sure who USC.
- 1:09:24SPEAKER_03: USC is playing somebody not very not Louisiana Lafayette.
- 1:09:28SPEAKER_00: Yeah, Louisiana, and it's at home.
- 1:09:30SPEAKER_00: USC is playing it at home.
- 1:09:31SPEAKER_00: The Raging Cajuns at 11 p.m.
- 1:09:34SPEAKER_00: Eastern.
- 1:09:35SPEAKER_00: And so they're both playing a night game.
- 1:09:36SPEAKER_00: We got the two leading receivers.
- 1:09:38SPEAKER_00: Who's gonna score?
- 1:09:40SPEAKER_00: Or excuse me, total more receiving yards?
- 1:09:44SPEAKER_03: Uh I'll start.
- 1:09:46SPEAKER_03: I'm gonna go with Tony.
- 1:09:47SPEAKER_03: He's open on every play.
- 1:09:48SPEAKER_03: I just he's gonna get his.
- 1:09:50SPEAKER_03: He's motivated.
- 1:09:51SPEAKER_03: I think he did the Heisman pose three different Jeremiah Smith also the Kamario Taylor also did the Heisman.
- 1:09:57SPEAKER_03: We have like six guys do the Heisman pose at some point this week, which is crazy because I remember back in 2010 when Patrick Peterson returned to punt for a touchdown against West Virginia.
- 1:10:06SPEAKER_03: He did the Heisman pose, he got flagged for 15.
- 1:10:09SPEAKER_03: That era is over.
- 1:10:10SPEAKER_03: So if you want to do the Heisman pose, you go right ahead.
- 1:10:13SPEAKER_03: Let it fly.
- 1:10:14SPEAKER_03: Malachi Tony is gonna get double-digit catches again, be out by halftime.
- 1:10:20SPEAKER_03: Uh USC got the USC could easily as well, but USC has five guys that are all really good.
- 1:10:27SPEAKER_03: They're gonna spread so only reason I'm saying that is just the dilution effect is gonna happen.
- 1:10:31SPEAKER_03: Tony will get the yards.
- 1:10:32SPEAKER_00: USC Trojans might have a little bit more of a challenge on their hands, so they might just have to stay with the passing game a little bit more.
- 1:10:41SPEAKER_00: Um, which gives Mosley a little something to play for.
- 1:10:44SPEAKER_00: Tony doesn't have much to play for.
- 1:10:46SPEAKER_00: I think they're gonna come out 30 to nothing real quick, and all the starters might be sitting in Miami.
- 1:10:52SPEAKER_00: So that's a tough one.
- 1:10:53SPEAKER_00: Mark, you gotta lean?
- 1:10:56SPEAKER_04: I'm leaning towards Mosley just because the last three meetings against Florida AM, they've won 56 to 6.
- 1:11:05SPEAKER_04: So again, I think this game's over in the second quarter, and Tony's gonna be rested, and I'll have somebody else come in.
- 1:11:10SPEAKER_04: But Mosley will play at least three quarters for USC, and that's the only reason why I think he'll get more yards.
- 1:11:16SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:11:17SPEAKER_00: Once again, Mark, I've been tailing you this whole time going against Mike Wade.
- 1:11:22SPEAKER_00: So I'm gonna say Mosley as well.
- 1:11:25SPEAKER_00: That doesn't sound right.
- 1:11:26SPEAKER_00: Gosh, what am I saying?
- 1:11:27SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna stick to it.
- 1:11:29SPEAKER_00: Malachi Tony, you kidding me?
- 1:11:30SPEAKER_00: I'm betting against him.
- 1:11:31SPEAKER_00: That's dumb.
- 1:11:32SPEAKER_00: Question number six.
- 1:11:40SPEAKER_00: The premier matchup of week number two.
- 1:11:43SPEAKER_00: Ohio State travels to Texas.
- 1:11:45SPEAKER_00: They're playing a night game at 7:30.
- 1:11:48SPEAKER_00: So, what happened last week?
- 1:11:49SPEAKER_00: Both of these teams dominated their opponents, and it was never close.
- 1:11:54SPEAKER_00: And so here's what we're looking up last week, and I'm gonna pitch you the question for these same participants.
- 1:12:01SPEAKER_00: I'm looking at the top two receivers and the running back for each team.
- 1:12:06SPEAKER_00: Ready?
- 1:12:06SPEAKER_00: We got Hollywood Smothers, we got Wingo and Cam Coleman for Texas.
- 1:12:12SPEAKER_00: They combined for 260 total yards last week.
- 1:12:17SPEAKER_00: Same story up in Ohio State.
- 1:12:19SPEAKER_00: We got Jeremiah Smith, we got Brandon Innis, and we got Bo Jackson.
- 1:12:24SPEAKER_00: Starting running back and two receivers.
- 1:12:26SPEAKER_00: They combined for 270 total yards last weekend.
- 1:12:31SPEAKER_00: They're playing each other this weekend.
- 1:12:33SPEAKER_00: Who which trio is going to combine for the most yardage?
- 1:12:39SPEAKER_00: The running back and two receivers from which team will combine for the most yardage?
- 1:12:44SPEAKER_00: Texas rushing and receiving, of course.
- 1:12:48SPEAKER_00: Rushing and receiving.
- 1:12:49SPEAKER_00: Total, total.
- 1:12:50SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 1:12:50SPEAKER_03: Give me Texas.
- 1:12:52SPEAKER_03: Texas is the more talented trio of the three.
- 1:12:54SPEAKER_03: Jeremiah Smith is the best player in that whole group, to be clear.
- 1:12:58SPEAKER_03: But between the three players, I think they're gonna do that.
- 1:13:00SPEAKER_03: Give me the home team, the Texas Heat.
- 1:13:03SPEAKER_03: They've been down there.
- 1:13:03SPEAKER_03: They're gonna be they're gonna be a side of the crowd.
- 1:13:05SPEAKER_03: I think Texas is gonna win anyway.
- 1:13:07SPEAKER_03: So I'm just I'm inclined to ride the team that wins tends to get more yards, generally speaking.
- 1:13:14SPEAKER_03: So I'm gonna go with the Texas group, even though I recognize the best player in that system is wearing Scarlet and Gray.
- 1:13:21SPEAKER_03: I'll take Texas.
- 1:13:22SPEAKER_00: Let me update and let me update and just be clear with everything.
- 1:13:25SPEAKER_00: When I'm talking about my running back, Bo Jackson, Hollywood Smothers, let's just say this.
- 1:13:30SPEAKER_00: We're gonna take their rushing yards only, but not their receiving yards.
- 1:13:34SPEAKER_00: We're gonna take their primary rushing yards and add it to the receiving yards of the other two.
- 1:13:38SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 1:13:39SPEAKER_00: So we're not gonna take swing passes from the running backs.
- 1:13:41SPEAKER_00: We're gonna go rush total.
- 1:13:43SPEAKER_00: So still with Texas?
- 1:13:44SPEAKER_00: Feeling good?
- 1:13:45SPEAKER_03: Still still with Texas.
- 1:13:46SPEAKER_03: Not by much.
- 1:13:47SPEAKER_03: Jeremiah Smith might have a 180-yard day, but I'll give me the Texas trio.
- 1:13:51SPEAKER_03: Yep.
- 1:13:53SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I don't really want to go against you on every single question this week, Mark.
- 1:13:58SPEAKER_04: Yes, you do, but don't lie.
- 1:13:59SPEAKER_04: But I trust Julian Saiyan a little more than I trust Arch Manning right now.
- 1:14:05SPEAKER_04: And until Arch Manning proves it differently, I can't confidently pick the Texas trio.
- 1:14:12SPEAKER_04: So I'm gonna go with the Ohio State trio.
- 1:14:14SPEAKER_00: Yep, this is a tough one.
- 1:14:17SPEAKER_00: I got you at OSU, Mark.
- 1:14:20SPEAKER_00: And to split the tie, what am I gonna say?
- 1:14:24SPEAKER_00: Gosh, you know what I like?
- 1:14:26SPEAKER_00: You know what names I really like the most is Wingo and Cam Coleman.
- 1:14:31SPEAKER_01: Yep.
- 1:14:31SPEAKER_00: No, it's Wingo and Cam Coleman.
- 1:14:34SPEAKER_00: These dudes are ballers.
- 1:14:36SPEAKER_00: And when we're talking overs and yardage and more, I will take the home team.
- 1:14:42SPEAKER_00: I'll take that Texas defense to slow down one of the three greatest receivers in the world right now, Jeremiah Smith.
- 1:14:52SPEAKER_00: Uh yeah.
- 1:14:53SPEAKER_00: So give me Texas as well.
- 1:14:55SPEAKER_00: Mark, you stand alone with Ohio State.
- 1:14:58SPEAKER_00: That's your quick six for week two.
- 1:15:01SPEAKER_00: Be sure to play along in the Discord.
- 1:15:03SPEAKER_03: Love it.
- 1:15:04SPEAKER_03: Love it.
- 1:15:05SPEAKER_03: All right, folks.
- 1:15:07SPEAKER_03: We've been talking for a long time.
- 1:15:08SPEAKER_03: We're at 75 minutes, which is probably time for us to get on the heck out of here.
- 1:15:11SPEAKER_03: Uh, folks, thank you for so much for uh enjoying.
- 1:15:13SPEAKER_03: See, we'll review all the week one action.
- 1:15:16SPEAKER_03: Darren, great job with the quick six.
- 1:15:17SPEAKER_03: Looking forward to another dominant victory coming.
- 1:15:19SPEAKER_03: I'm gonna smoke you guys again in week two.
- 1:15:21SPEAKER_03: Uh and we'll be back online uh tomorrow, or we'll posted maybe tomorrow next day.
- 1:15:26SPEAKER_03: We're talking about week two uh preview and week one overreactions.
- 1:15:31SPEAKER_03: We have another round of punt and go for it uh for week one.
- 1:15:34SPEAKER_03: So we're gonna we're gonna make some bold proclamations and we'll have to have our coach with the headsets decide if we like them or not.
- 1:15:40SPEAKER_03: Folks, anything else for the good or the order?
- 1:15:42SPEAKER_03: Go hokeys, block that kick.
- 1:15:45SPEAKER_03: Block that kick.
- 1:15:46SPEAKER_03: Beamer ball is back.
- 1:15:47SPEAKER_03: Go, Tiger.
- 1:15:48SPEAKER_03: See you guys.
- 1:15:52SPEAKER_01: Might not go read.
- 1:15:55SPEAKER_01: Might not go.
- 1:15:57SPEAKER_03: Yeah, week two is a doozy.
- 1:16:01SPEAKER_03: Don't forget to watch Robert Morris and the fan sponsored calling to plays, the Akron game.
- 1:16:06SPEAKER_03: The Akron Zips.
- 1:16:09SPEAKER_00: That's the they're looking like they're gonna throw a three and a half out there.
- 1:16:13SPEAKER_00: They didn't look good last week.
- 1:16:22SPEAKER_03: You can't yeah, it looks like the recording stopped.
- 1:16:28SPEAKER_03: That was fun.
