- 0:53Speaker 2: I'm doing okay, You rings are good. We got rocked
- 0:57Speaker 2: with some snow. Boy, we huh, the biggest snowfall of
- 1:02Speaker 2: the year by a lot.
- 1:03Speaker 3: I don't know what happened. All of a sudden, it
- 1:05Speaker 3: was crazy out there.
- 1:07Speaker 2: You don't usually expect that, you know, the first week
- 1:10Speaker 2: of March, for sure, that's more of like a December January.
- 1:15Speaker 3: Sort of thing.
- 1:15Speaker 2: Yeah, but it's been pretty mild up until now, and
- 1:19Speaker 2: we just got smacked with snow.
- 1:22Speaker 3: It was like almost a foot hared hammered. It was crazy.
- 1:26Speaker 2: The kids we got the notice that they weren't going
- 1:29Speaker 2: to have school today, and so yeah, it was just
- 1:34Speaker 2: it was crazy.
- 1:35Speaker 3: That was the right call, because I'm sure it was.
- 1:37Speaker 3: I mean, I didn't have to go anywhere today, but
- 1:38Speaker 3: I'm sure it was nasty out there.
- 1:40Speaker 2: It was insane. I could not believe it went to
- 1:44Speaker 2: bed nothing out there, woke up the foot of sea.
- 1:49Speaker 3: Pretty crazy.
- 1:50Speaker 2: Yeah, And I was just in Florida last week. I
- 1:53Speaker 2: was performing outside.
- 1:55Speaker 3: Yeah you were, and having strawberry shortcake.
- 1:58Speaker 2: Oh dude, it was so oh good.
- 2:00Speaker 3: Someday I'm coming to that gig just for that. You
- 2:03Speaker 3: gotta do it. It's so good.
- 2:06Speaker 2: I've done it three times. I've got the strawberry shortcake
- 2:09Speaker 2: every time, and it's.
- 2:10Speaker 3: Been a delight. Why wouldn't you, you know, why wouldn't you? Oh?
- 2:14Speaker 2: I loved every second of him.
- 2:16Speaker 3: I love a strawberry shortcake in general for sure.
- 2:19Speaker 2: And then a lot of us had because we were
- 2:22Speaker 2: like the earlier show in the day there was then
- 2:28Speaker 2: we were able to get flights out that night, but
- 2:31Speaker 2: it was like, really it was a quick It was
- 2:33Speaker 2: like we can split now. And I knew that going
- 2:37Speaker 2: into it. So like, I didn't have a checked bag.
- 2:39Speaker 2: I was just gonna go on with my backpack, the
- 2:41Speaker 2: whole deal. We got a police escort to from the
- 2:46Speaker 2: festival to the highway, which was like a five minute
- 2:50Speaker 2: drive like normally, but I was looking at Google Maps
- 2:56Speaker 2: and it saved us like twenty minutes because of all
- 2:58Speaker 2: the traps.
- 2:59Speaker 3: It was awesome, hooked. I felt like such a rock star.
- 3:04Speaker 3: It was so cool. That would be neat, Yeah, for sure.
- 3:07Speaker 2: But I was sitting up front and Chance and we're like, uh,
- 3:11Speaker 2: look like you're heard or something up there because I
- 3:13Speaker 2: was sitting in the front seat. They're like, we don't
- 3:16Speaker 2: want people to think we're just trying to get ahead
- 3:19Speaker 2: of the track.
- 3:19Speaker 3: Pretend like you're in distress. Rob. Yeah.
- 3:22Speaker 2: So I just like held my head.
- 3:24Speaker 3: It was just like oh but I was loving it.
- 3:29Speaker 3: That's amazing. I love that it was neat. It was
- 3:31Speaker 3: really truly cool. Thank Yeah. How have you been good?
- 3:36Speaker 3: All injuries have been real for me, So no fakes,
- 3:40Speaker 3: no fakes. I haven't done anything like that. Just been
- 3:45Speaker 3: hanging out, man, It's been hanging out. I get to
- 3:47Speaker 3: hang out with you tomorrow night. I'm excited. Yeah, dude,
- 3:50Speaker 3: I'm so pumped to see that. To seventeen, We're gonna
- 3:54Speaker 3: go see that's gonna be gonna be cool. I'm excited
- 3:56Speaker 3: to see that movie. I don't know what we're getting into,
- 3:59Speaker 3: but it looks fun and weird.
- 4:02Speaker 2: Bong Jun know Robert Pattinson, they both picked cool things.
- 4:06Speaker 2: It's gonna be great.
- 4:07Speaker 3: As the folks said at one point, I don't know
- 4:09Speaker 3: if they still do but say less, rob say less,
- 4:12Speaker 3: say leus. Yes they still say that. Okay, I don't
- 4:15Speaker 3: know they have. So what's going on out here with
- 4:17Speaker 3: these kids in these.
- 4:19Speaker 2: Crazy They are crazy. It's fire.
- 4:22Speaker 3: It's going to be fire.
- 4:23Speaker 2: It's gonna be lit lit.
- 4:25Speaker 3: I know they have the riz.
- 4:28Speaker 4: You have you been.
- 4:29Speaker 3: Seeing any moves lately? I have? Are we doing the.
- 4:34Speaker 2: Braves on movies? I like the old moves? Yes, I
- 4:40Speaker 2: went and checked out the latest movie.
- 4:42Speaker 3: Are good? Buddy.
- 4:42Speaker 2: Benny Ellige started the Steven Soderberg directed film Presence.
- 4:49Speaker 3: I have that on my list, but I'm scared. It's
- 4:52Speaker 3: a little creepy. Is scary.
- 4:54Speaker 2: I get why it's a little creepy. It stars Lucy
- 4:58Speaker 2: Lou Chris Sullivan, the big guy from This is Us.
- 5:03Speaker 2: Julia Fox is in it for a second. She was
- 5:06Speaker 2: the lady in uncut.
- 5:10Speaker 3: She made that. She made that meme.
- 5:12Speaker 2: Yes, and she's only in it for a second, man,
- 5:15Speaker 2: Like she's just about as long as Benny, isn't it
- 5:18Speaker 2: actually okay? But yeah, it's about a house that's kind
- 5:22Speaker 2: of haunted. There's a presence.
- 5:24Speaker 3: There, oh clever.
- 5:27Speaker 2: And what's neat about this one is that the camera
- 5:29Speaker 2: is actually in the point of view of the spirit
- 5:33Speaker 2: or the presence. Oh cool. So yeah, I like that.
- 5:38Speaker 2: I feel like more and more people are doing different
- 5:40Speaker 2: things with.
- 5:42Speaker 3: This is the year of point of view, like, yeah,
- 5:45Speaker 3: playing around with that or something a little.
- 5:48Speaker 2: Yeah, we had that with Nickel Boys last year that.
- 5:51Speaker 2: Did you ever see Zone of Interest?
- 5:54Speaker 3: No? I never did see Zone of Interest. That one was.
- 5:56Speaker 2: Crazy because it was just, uh, it was like cameras
- 6:00Speaker 2: were all set up, it was all still shots. It
- 6:02Speaker 2: was almost like a thousand ring cameras like in each
- 6:07Speaker 2: or something exactly.
- 6:11Speaker 3: Yeah. And I was thinking of that Tom Hanks one
- 6:13Speaker 3: as well, right, because that was a weird, like.
- 6:16Speaker 2: Yeah, and that was just in the ones the entire movie. Yeah,
- 6:21Speaker 2: so it's a thing.
- 6:24Speaker 3: I think that's kind of it's fun.
- 6:26Speaker 2: But yeah, I thought this was really well done. It
- 6:28Speaker 2: seemed pretty low budget, almost kind of an indie feeling.
- 6:31Speaker 3: Sure, it was interesting how they edited.
- 6:34Speaker 2: It just feels like a bunch of like two to
- 6:37Speaker 2: five minute scenes that have these hard cuts that go
- 6:40Speaker 2: to the next scene, which I haven't really seen a
- 6:44Speaker 2: movie like that to my knowledge. I can't think of
- 6:46Speaker 2: one off the top of my head. But yeah, I
- 6:49Speaker 2: liked it more than I thought I was going to.
- 6:51Speaker 2: And of course it was fun getting to see our
- 6:53Speaker 2: buddy Benny in a movie.
- 6:55Speaker 3: He finally made the cut of something that he.
- 6:57Speaker 2: Made the cut the Soderberg Yes, this is what his
- 7:02Speaker 2: third attempted project or whatever. No, it's just the second
- 7:07Speaker 2: or second Yeah, yeah, yeah, cut out of the HBO show.
- 7:10Speaker 3: Okay, yeah, you're right, yeah, full circle.
- 7:13Speaker 2: But but yeah, this is good presence. I'd check it out.
- 7:17Speaker 2: It can currently be rented, but I'm sure it's going
- 7:20Speaker 2: to be on a streaming somewhere at some point.
- 7:24Speaker 3: Yeah. Nice, very cool man. What about you? What have
- 7:27Speaker 3: you been watching? I went in the old way back
- 7:30Speaker 3: machine here we lost Gene Hackman, and so I finally
- 7:35Speaker 3: watched Hoosiers because i'd never seen.
- 7:38Speaker 2: Oh my god, right, like, dude, I tried going and
- 7:43Speaker 2: seeing the Conversation because I've never seen that one, and
- 7:46Speaker 2: that's like Francis Ford co right, I can't find it
- 7:51Speaker 2: anywhere without renting it.
- 7:53Speaker 3: Yeah, so I happened to see. I was like, I
- 7:56Speaker 3: have never seen Hoosiers. This seems like the right time.
- 7:59Speaker 3: I love that and it was on Prime luckily, so
- 8:02Speaker 3: I lucked out there. Yeah. But yeah, what a great
- 8:06Speaker 3: little movie. I mean, I feel like I had already
- 8:09Speaker 3: kind of seen it in a weird way just because
- 8:12Speaker 3: of everyone talking about it. But really really fun. I
- 8:17Speaker 3: love a sports movie anyway, as you know, and you
- 8:20Speaker 3: do too. Yeah, Gene Heckman, he's great in it. I
- 8:23Speaker 3: thought was super funny that he's like considered old in
- 8:27Speaker 3: that and it's from eighty six, you know what I mean.
- 8:29Speaker 3: They were like, this guy is old. Yeah, so he.
- 8:33Speaker 2: I mean, I feel like he came out like doing
- 8:37Speaker 2: his thing, and he just looked like he was sixty.
- 8:40Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 8:40Speaker 3: He just looked the same the whole time, basically all
- 8:42Speaker 3: the time. Yeah, yeah, for sure. But yeah, it was
- 8:46Speaker 3: a really fun movie. I obviously identified, like I'm not
- 8:51Speaker 3: from Indiana, but the small town vibe I understood, sure,
- 8:56Speaker 3: And yeah it was it was really interesting. I did
- 8:58Speaker 3: not know Dennis Hopper was in it, Like I missed that.
- 9:01Speaker 3: I think he won an Academy Award for that was
- 9:03Speaker 3: really good, so that makes sense and a huge part
- 9:07Speaker 3: of the movie. And then it was fun to see
- 9:10Speaker 3: that Chelsea Ross guy in there. Who's been Was he
- 9:13Speaker 3: in Major League? I think was? The other thing was
- 9:15Speaker 3: the picture, yes, And I was just like, oh, you're
- 9:18Speaker 3: just kind of a prick in all your movies. Man.
- 9:21Speaker 3: That's great. But yeah, just a really fun, like pretty
- 9:27Speaker 3: much just a feel good story the whole way through basically,
- 9:31Speaker 3: And yeah, I liked it a lot. I don't know
- 9:33Speaker 3: if I'll ever watch it again because, like I said,
- 9:35Speaker 3: I feel like it's been probably not it's been sort
- 9:37Speaker 3: of like there's been homages to it. So there's other
- 9:41Speaker 3: sports films that I saw earlier that I'm like, oh,
- 9:43Speaker 3: I can just get that from there if I need it.
- 9:45Speaker 3: But it was really good. I was happy I watched it.
- 9:47Speaker 3: And what a bummer. I mean, that whole Hackman story
- 9:50Speaker 3: is weird too. I haven't even read anything more about it,
- 9:54Speaker 3: just that it was like they were like, well, maybe
- 9:56Speaker 3: they've been gone for a long time. I don't know.
- 10:00Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, strange, but yeah, I know it was at
- 10:03Speaker 2: least it was least like a week and a half
- 10:05Speaker 2: two weeks when they found it.
- 10:09Speaker 3: Yeah, okay, yeah that's wild, but you know, stuff happens.
- 10:13Speaker 3: And what was he like, ninety I forget five ninety five.
- 10:17Speaker 3: It's a hell of a run, man, hell of run.
- 10:19Speaker 2: Yeah, man, for sure.
- 10:20Speaker 3: Yeah, it was a great movie. It was. It was
- 10:22Speaker 3: fun to see too, and like check that one off
- 10:24Speaker 3: the list now, you know, since yeah that's nice classic.
- 10:28Speaker 3: So yeah, it was fun. How about you, though, have
- 10:31Speaker 3: you been streaming anything? I have?
- 10:34Speaker 2: I started up the third season of Reacher after you
- 10:38Speaker 2: told me that that was out.
- 10:39Speaker 3: Yeah it's there, baby, and I'm all caught up.
- 10:42Speaker 2: I watched the first four episodes. I watched it on
- 10:44Speaker 2: my flight back actually from Florida.
- 10:47Speaker 3: Perfect show, it was. It took up the whole time.
- 10:51Speaker 2: It was like a perfect amount of time to fly
- 10:55Speaker 2: off in Florida. It took me a minute to get
- 10:58Speaker 2: into this season. I can like I felt like some
- 11:01Speaker 2: of the dialogue has been a little cheesier this season,
- 11:04Speaker 2: Like I don't know that it's like super known for
- 11:07Speaker 2: like amazing dialogue. Sure, but yeah, it's taken me a minute.
- 11:12Speaker 2: To warm up to the new characters that they've introduced. Yeah,
- 11:17Speaker 2: but by the fourth episode I was in so it.
- 11:20Speaker 2: You know, I'm good now, but still super fun action.
- 11:25Speaker 2: I just I love the character of Reacher that Alan
- 11:28Speaker 2: Richson does such a good job. It's just a fun character.
- 11:33Speaker 2: I do feel like maybe it's gone off a little
- 11:36Speaker 2: bit with just like he's willing to kind of kill
- 11:40Speaker 2: anybody for like if they get in his way this season,
- 11:43Speaker 2: which has been different. I feel like I.
- 11:46Speaker 3: Thought he was more of like a principled yeah a
- 11:50Speaker 3: little bit. That's where a couple of these I've been like,
- 11:53Speaker 3: oh that's OK. I mean, okay, we're good guys, good guys.
- 11:59Speaker 3: So yeah, no, I hear you. But yeah, I'm I'm
- 12:04Speaker 3: invested now.
- 12:04Speaker 2: I have four episodes in and and they come out
- 12:06Speaker 2: Thursdays on Prime if you're interested, and I'm definitely gonna
- 12:09Speaker 2: keep watching for sure.
- 12:10Speaker 3: Yeah they're fun. They're fun, kind of like not quite
- 12:13Speaker 3: mindless entertainment, but but close you know, like you know, yeah,
- 12:17Speaker 3: it's not like a separance where you really have to
- 12:19Speaker 3: like be like, what is even happening right now? It's
- 12:22Speaker 3: pretty straight, right.
- 12:23Speaker 2: And it's been kind of fun. Anthony Michael Hall is like, yeah,
- 12:28Speaker 2: and we just signed that.
- 12:30Speaker 3: When I saw him, I was like, oh, how delightful.
- 12:32Speaker 3: This is great.
- 12:34Speaker 2: But his son in the show, I don't know, his
- 12:37Speaker 2: name is not my Favoriteah.
- 12:39Speaker 3: He's not doing Maybe he'll get better. I don't know. Yeah,
- 12:43Speaker 3: I hear you though. He's just okay.
- 12:44Speaker 2: I feel like, yeah, best, yeah, yeah, all right, But
- 12:49Speaker 2: what about you?
- 12:50Speaker 3: What have you been streaming? Well? Speaking of just okay,
- 12:53Speaker 3: I watched The Gorge on Apple TV Plus. It's just okay.
- 12:58Speaker 3: It's just okay, dude, Like it is what I read
- 13:02Speaker 3: doesn't my problem with it. There's there's some pretty good acting.
- 13:07Speaker 3: So it's for folks who don't know. It's Anya Taylor
- 13:10Speaker 3: Joy and Miles Teller. They're on opposite sides of a gorge.
- 13:16Speaker 3: You know, clever name once again, but they're on opposite sides,
- 13:19Speaker 3: and they're both like paramilitary people and they are protecting
- 13:24Speaker 3: this stuff and that's pretty much all you know, right,
- 13:27Speaker 3: And they communicate. They're not supposed to communicate at all,
- 13:32Speaker 3: other than like they see each other every once in
- 13:34Speaker 3: a while from across this like mile long gorge. Stuff
- 13:39Speaker 3: happens from there. It doesn't make a ton of sense.
- 13:42Speaker 3: And it's just kind of like, oh, okay, I don't know,
- 13:47Speaker 3: it's just fine. There's nothing bad about it. But it
- 13:50Speaker 3: is like two hours and ten minutes, and like if
- 13:53Speaker 3: it was ninety minutes of like ever, I'd be like, okay, cool, whatever,
- 13:57Speaker 3: But you get to that two hour, I start expect
- 14:00Speaker 3: thing like, well, you have to have kept me here
- 14:02Speaker 3: for a reason then, you know, right, Yeah, there are
- 14:05Speaker 3: some great moments between the two of them because slight
- 14:09Speaker 3: spoiler alert, they do interact a little bit because they're
- 14:13Speaker 3: both really great, fine actors, right, you know, so it's
- 14:16Speaker 3: that part's good. But yeah, it just doesn't like, it
- 14:20Speaker 3: doesn't make it long. I don't know. I see why
- 14:23Speaker 3: it went to a streamer and not to a theater.
- 14:25Speaker 3: I guess is.
- 14:26Speaker 2: Maybe the well that's good, it didn't go waste money
- 14:30Speaker 2: in the theater.
- 14:30Speaker 3: Yeah, so I didn't like. I don't hate it. I'm
- 14:33Speaker 3: not like mad that I watched it, but I certainly
- 14:36Speaker 3: wouldn't encourage anyone to like go out of their way,
- 14:38Speaker 3: you know, like that is, don't kill yourself.
- 14:41Speaker 2: I keep seeing it on Apple TV, and I'm like.
- 14:44Speaker 3: Should I should I just watch? Because they're so good?
- 14:48Speaker 2: Yes, and those two yeah, those two actors are incredible.
- 14:52Speaker 3: Now, I didn't love it, but maybe you know, maybe
- 14:56Speaker 3: you will. I don't know if you ever see it
- 14:58Speaker 3: on the flight or something, but I encourage you. The
- 15:01Speaker 3: only time I would do this honestly almost kip it.
- 15:04Speaker 3: But whatever. So yeah, I guess that was both of us,
- 15:08Speaker 3: wasn't it. Should we do a few plug runs? Yes, Hey,
- 15:11Speaker 3: you guys can visit us. That's always over in the
- 15:13Speaker 3: old Twitter machine or rad Avid endorsement with a Z.
- 15:16Speaker 3: You can go to Facebook dot com, you can go
- 15:18Speaker 3: to Instagram. What's what are the other ones? TikTok, blue Sky.
- 15:25Speaker 3: We got to write these down. I'm such an old
- 15:27Speaker 3: man too. I'm just like, I don't know. Do whatever
- 15:29Speaker 3: you want. But if you really want to hang out
- 15:33Speaker 3: and be part of the crew, that's about.
- 15:34Speaker 2: To go is petreon dot com slash the Avid indoorsman.
- 15:40Speaker 2: It's a great time on Patreon. We love our patrons.
- 15:42Speaker 2: We give them lots of perks, and one of those
- 15:44Speaker 2: is getting a shout out here. So let's give Marsha Greasiac,
- 15:48Speaker 2: Mary Fox, Nanette Walkley, Yohambrosted, Debulk, and Noah Flora a
- 15:56Speaker 2: big shout out. We love those guys, they're great. Another
- 16:00Speaker 2: perk we like to give our patrons is an extended
- 16:03Speaker 2: version of every single.
- 16:05Speaker 3: Episode that we put out.
- 16:07Speaker 2: We'll usually do a top five draft that pertains to
- 16:09Speaker 2: the movie we're talking about, and shockingly, we've never done
- 16:13Speaker 2: our top five movie pets.
- 16:16Speaker 3: And there's so many of them. There's so many.
- 16:20Speaker 2: Yeah, I picked a few out of left field.
- 16:22Speaker 3: I'm hoping you guys didn't think of but I don't
- 16:24Speaker 3: even know if I did anymore. So there's so many
- 16:26Speaker 3: that I was like, I'm sure there's a million I'm forgetting,
- 16:29Speaker 3: so yeah, for sure. Yeah, So that'll be fun, but
- 16:33Speaker 3: it'll be a good time. It'll be a good time
- 16:35Speaker 3: for sure.
- 16:35Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 16:37Speaker 3: Well, coming attractions, we're gonna do something else, so stay tuned.
- 16:41Speaker 3: I don't remember what it is.
- 16:42Speaker 2: Day too well, we're still talking about I think I
- 16:45Speaker 2: think it might be our best picture.
- 16:47Speaker 3: That's so we might have a little Leonora for you,
- 16:49Speaker 3: but I'm not sure. So that'll come up at some point.
- 16:53Speaker 3: It'll be great whatever it is. It'll be so fun.
- 16:56Speaker 3: But we are here today to talk about a lovely
- 16:58Speaker 3: little film. It is fifteen years old, which I have
- 17:01Speaker 3: a hard time believing. Shocking truly. But we're here today
- 17:08Speaker 3: to talk about how to train your dragon, and we
- 17:11Speaker 3: had to get our own little dragon master in here.
- 17:13Speaker 3: This is a man who loves fantasy, flights of fantasy, uh,
- 17:19Speaker 3: you know, ilicit adult materials. He's a big fan of
- 17:23Speaker 3: I don't fantasy. I don't know. Guys, go on, we're
- 17:30Speaker 3: all having but he's back and he's lovely. Give it
- 17:34Speaker 3: up for Adam.
- 17:36Speaker 2: H what's upbout him?
- 17:39Speaker 4: Hi? Guys, Hi buddy, who are you? I'm so excited
- 17:43Speaker 4: to be here tonight. I want to thank a lot
- 17:45Speaker 4: of people, including myself.
- 17:47Speaker 2: I think we want to thank you as well.
- 17:50Speaker 4: Just me. I don't want to a lot of people,
- 17:52Speaker 4: just myself.
- 17:53Speaker 3: That's what you want to thank smug. You want to
- 17:55Speaker 3: thank smug dragon hearts?
- 17:58Speaker 4: Don't give it the dragons I can't think.
- 18:00Speaker 3: Of right now. You are dragoned out, my man. Yeah, dude,
- 18:06Speaker 3: look at you. I love this. We were all the
- 18:09Speaker 3: figurines behind you. Who he's got a dragon shirt going on? Hell? Yeah?
- 18:16Speaker 3: How many dragons are behind you?
- 18:19Speaker 4: Do you really want me to count?
- 18:21Speaker 2: Okay, well, can you approximate?
- 18:26Speaker 3: He said, do you want me to count? Then he
- 18:28Speaker 3: just started start counting. I like it.
- 18:31Speaker 2: He loves counting, love.
- 18:33Speaker 4: Counting about thirty two thirty two dragons.
- 18:42Speaker 3: Dragons.
- 18:42Speaker 4: Yeah, well, you know, when you have ten different archetypes
- 18:47Speaker 4: of dragons and D and D, you have to you know,
- 18:49Speaker 4: there's and then each one has four different like or
- 18:53Speaker 4: five different characterizations between a small young dragon or an
- 18:59Speaker 4: eight huge dragons.
- 19:01Speaker 3: So you know we all know to cover there, you know. Yeah,
- 19:04Speaker 3: of are you a wivern man or okay?
- 19:07Speaker 4: Bugs personal Jesus, a wife urn is not a dragon.
- 19:16Speaker 4: Do not make that mistake on this podcast. I know better.
- 19:22Speaker 3: I just I really just wanted to get to going,
- 19:23Speaker 3: if I'm super honest. Although I don't remember what the
- 19:28Speaker 3: red cup. You don't need to do that o the
- 19:31Speaker 3: red cup. I like it nice.
- 19:33Speaker 4: I can't remember someone gave this to me. I can't remember.
- 19:35Speaker 3: You do have a lot of dragon paraphernalia.
- 19:37Speaker 4: It is.
- 19:40Speaker 3: Its string on. Great, that's wonderful. Do you ever sing
- 19:45Speaker 3: any songs about dragons?
- 19:47Speaker 4: No?
- 19:48Speaker 3: Oh, okay, well I'll tell you what you do. Sing
- 19:50Speaker 3: a song about the rise of robo arhythmo.
- 19:53Speaker 4: You're saying all that's out now terriful.
- 19:59Speaker 3: I like, great, that's better than most of our segus
- 20:02Speaker 3: So what do you want from.
- 20:05Speaker 4: I guess my expectations are low, so it's okay.
- 20:09Speaker 3: So it's great.
- 20:09Speaker 4: Uh yeah, Yeah, there's a single that people can listen to.
- 20:12Speaker 4: It's it's all just me. It's uh and there's one
- 20:17Speaker 4: instrument in it, and it's playing me playing the bass guitar.
- 20:22Speaker 4: So that's that's there, slapping the bass and yeah, slapping
- 20:27Speaker 4: the bass on it. But then it's just me with
- 20:29Speaker 4: loop stations and effects and stuff like that. But it's
- 20:33Speaker 4: it's very much like Doctor Demento if anyone has ever
- 20:38Speaker 4: liked that vibe, because it has like a narration with
- 20:41Speaker 4: it and it's kind of comical and humorous, but it's
- 20:44Speaker 4: also like jamming. So yeah, it's a fun thing to
- 20:48Speaker 4: check out. It's very different, very unique, not what you'd
- 20:51Speaker 4: expect from home free at all.
- 20:54Speaker 3: So cool.
- 20:55Speaker 4: There you go. Yeah, that's great.
- 20:57Speaker 3: That's great. You can go to Adam ruppmusic dot com
- 21:00Speaker 3: if you want to check that out. It's also available
- 21:02Speaker 3: on like Spotify and stuff. Right, like you said, so
- 21:05Speaker 3: all over the place. Very fun.
- 21:07Speaker 2: Check it out, check it out.
- 21:10Speaker 3: But I think we should really get into this dragon
- 21:13Speaker 3: material here. Yes, Rob, you want to get it started
- 21:16Speaker 3: with a rough synopsis.
- 21:17Speaker 2: Sure Hiccup is a Norse teenager from the island of
- 21:23Speaker 2: Burke Nailed It, where fighting dragons is a way of life.
- 21:28Speaker 2: His progressive views and weird sense of humor make him
- 21:31Speaker 2: a misfit, despite the fact that his father is chief.
- 21:35Speaker 3: Of the clan.
- 21:37Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 21:38Speaker 3: Yeah, oh that was it. That's it.
- 21:41Speaker 2: Your hiccup got me. It got me pretty good. I
- 21:44Speaker 2: love that you hiccuped.
- 21:45Speaker 3: That was good. Was it fake or real? I really
- 21:48Speaker 3: could have bought that either way.
- 21:49Speaker 4: Oh, I'm really good at what I do.
- 21:52Speaker 3: That was impressive. You are very good. I'll have what
- 21:55Speaker 3: he's having. Oh, let's go to Rotten Tomatoes and hear
- 21:59Speaker 3: what they have to say. Critic have this coming in
- 22:01Speaker 3: at a pretty okay, n what that has to be
- 22:07Speaker 3: the highest we've ever had. It has to be.
- 22:09Speaker 4: I think a lot of people like submitted a critique
- 22:14Speaker 4: for the movie.
- 22:15Speaker 3: So many people.
- 22:17Speaker 2: I don't know, dude, that critics of this movie movie
- 22:23Speaker 2: ninety nine.
- 22:24Speaker 4: Is it perfect?
- 22:25Speaker 3: To them?
- 22:25Speaker 4: I got to hear this.
- 22:26Speaker 3: It's not.
- 22:27Speaker 2: It's one percent below perfect. Okayeering it's perfect, and that
- 22:32Speaker 2: it's not perfect.
- 22:32Speaker 4: Thank you.
- 22:33Speaker 3: It keeps us striving.
- 22:34Speaker 4: Thank you for that perfection.
- 22:35Speaker 3: As a species. Audience members have it at ninety one percent.
- 22:39Speaker 3: That's still pretty solid.
- 22:41Speaker 2: That's extremely solid.
- 22:42Speaker 3: It's not often we get ninety one. And then you're
- 22:44Speaker 3: also like, but way different than the right. Yeah, that's
- 22:49Speaker 3: pretty crazy people revere this movie. I think it's time
- 22:52Speaker 3: to hear what we think should we get into our
- 22:56Speaker 3: that's a hot take.
- 22:58Speaker 2: That's a hot take.
- 23:00Speaker 3: Wag and fire. It only got so many shots, so
- 23:06Speaker 3: badly burned.
- 23:07Speaker 4: I'm very very that's good like that. Okay, here's a
- 23:13Speaker 4: question for you. Did this movie just come out of
- 23:15Speaker 4: nowhere to on like your radar? Like, did it just
- 23:18Speaker 4: sort of like appear one day and you're like, oh,
- 23:21Speaker 4: what's this? It sure did for me me too.
- 23:24Speaker 3: Apparently there was a book, Yes, there was.
- 23:27Speaker 2: Well it was a children's book, children's series, and it
- 23:31Speaker 2: was way after we were kids, so which makes.
- 23:34Speaker 3: Sense before the movies, right obvious.
- 23:36Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, it was like early two thousands.
- 23:38Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, but.
- 23:41Speaker 4: Yeah, it just showed up one day and I was like,
- 23:43Speaker 4: the hell is this? And then so I then I
- 23:45Speaker 4: watched it. I was like, oh, and I didn't know
- 23:50Speaker 4: how to what to take I didn't know how to
- 23:52Speaker 4: take it. So I'm sorry. I'm going first.
- 23:54Speaker 3: Yeah, okay, go for it.
- 23:57Speaker 4: Okay. Secretly that was my because usually Bugs always goes first,
- 24:03Speaker 4: and so I wanted to jump on it for a
- 24:04Speaker 4: second because then you always like, you know, it gets
- 24:07Speaker 4: to be and then I'm like, well, you guys said
- 24:09Speaker 4: it all agree, so.
- 24:12Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 24:14Speaker 2: So anyway, that's a good point.
- 24:16Speaker 4: This this is a movie that I think will grow
- 24:20Speaker 4: on people, if in case anyone hasn't seen it. I
- 24:23Speaker 4: think it's a movie that the first time you see, like, Okay,
- 24:26Speaker 4: that was cool, that was nice. So I had some chuckles,
- 24:28Speaker 4: that had some good moments in there, It was interesting,
- 24:31Speaker 4: it was fun, all of those things that kind of
- 24:35Speaker 4: does a good job at everything. But then over time,
- 24:39Speaker 4: especially with the development of the franchise, you you can
- 24:43Speaker 4: really just go down the rabbit hole on it and
- 24:46Speaker 4: you can just like completely get sucked in and you're like, oh,
- 24:49Speaker 4: I really really like this whole franchise, this movie, this
- 24:52Speaker 4: whole thing. It's really entertaining and it's a nice thing
- 24:57Speaker 4: to always watch. As far as like how they did
- 25:02Speaker 4: as making the movies concerned, I think, you know, I
- 25:06Speaker 4: understand why I got so high remarks because you know,
- 25:12Speaker 4: when you look at the when you look at the dialogue.
- 25:15Speaker 4: You're like, this is actually really well written dialogue. It's
- 25:20Speaker 4: very well done. Every line is very thought out and
- 25:27Speaker 4: very captivating.
- 25:29Speaker 3: And funny and funny.
- 25:32Speaker 4: There's a lot of good humor in there. The voice
- 25:36Speaker 4: acting is really well done. The actors did a great job.
- 25:39Speaker 4: The animation is really cool and it's interesting because it
- 25:47Speaker 4: plays upon what And this is a question for you guys,
- 25:50Speaker 4: if you had to choose what mythical creature would be
- 25:55Speaker 4: just the most, like the one that you're obsessed with
- 25:59Speaker 4: the most, would it be dragon? And I kind of
- 26:06Speaker 4: think about this, like what other creatures could there be?
- 26:11Speaker 3: Unicorn? Unicorns?
- 26:12Speaker 4: Yeah, but I don't like for me, yeah, centaur, but.
- 26:20Speaker 2: Yeah, centaurs are dragon Yeah and yeah made me get
- 26:25Speaker 2: into dragons too.
- 26:26Speaker 3: Yeah, those were dragons. Like we said with your thirty
- 26:29Speaker 3: two figurines, they also can take so many forms in
- 26:32Speaker 3: the ways.
- 26:35Speaker 4: And that's what this movie does so well. This whole idea,
- 26:38Speaker 4: this franchise is the idea of basically taking absolute creativity
- 26:44Speaker 4: about what a dragon could be and what awesome abilities
- 26:48Speaker 4: they could have and how they could you know, do stuff,
- 26:51Speaker 4: and it brings it to life and brings it to
- 26:53Speaker 4: a story in a in a universe and a world
- 26:55Speaker 4: that is very captivating and intriguing and you kind of
- 26:59Speaker 4: want to know. Okay, I would read the Dragon Manual
- 27:03Speaker 4: just nerding out. I'm wondering, well, what does this one do? Whoa?
- 27:07Speaker 4: That's so I mean, this is the gamer in me.
- 27:10Speaker 4: That's just like whoa. Yeah, just like what did this
- 27:13Speaker 4: guy do? What does this one do? Like that's so cool?
- 27:16Speaker 4: And just all this stuff. So who's the character that
- 27:21Speaker 4: is like that?
- 27:22Speaker 3: And there's fish Legs.
- 27:28Speaker 4: That's that's me. Like, if there was a character, I'm
- 27:34Speaker 4: definitely fish Legs for this movie. Anyway. Other than that, yeah,
- 27:38Speaker 4: they did a great job of making it appeal to
- 27:41Speaker 4: the masses, which was very hard. I feel like when
- 27:44Speaker 4: you have well maybe it's not hard, it's just it's
- 27:48Speaker 4: a it's a thing that you have to do two
- 27:53Speaker 4: allow people to enjoy something that they might not normally
- 27:57Speaker 4: want to enjoy, you know, Like this is like another
- 28:01Speaker 4: example is the Dungeons and Dragons movie, which is not
- 28:04Speaker 4: what we're talking about here, but you know, if you
- 28:08Speaker 4: said that on paper, people will be like, okay, I
- 28:10Speaker 4: don't I'm not going to see that, or like they
- 28:11Speaker 4: might not have any interesting way to see that. But
- 28:14Speaker 4: people that watch it, they're like, they're allowed to enjoy
- 28:18Speaker 4: it because of, you know, how well they put the
- 28:20Speaker 4: movie together. And so I feel like this is kind
- 28:22Speaker 4: of one of those movies that does such a great
- 28:24Speaker 4: job of making it enjoyable for the common man to watch.
- 28:30Speaker 3: Yeah, I like that nice hot take hot, very hot.
- 28:35Speaker 3: Uh do you want to go next? Fukes, No, you
- 28:38Speaker 3: can go, We'll go reverse artist.
- 28:40Speaker 2: I thought this movie was awesome when it came out.
- 28:42Speaker 2: I watched it a few times, and I've watched it
- 28:44Speaker 2: a few times now with the kids, and it's been
- 28:46Speaker 2: fun getting to experience it with them and watching them
- 28:49Speaker 2: enjoy it. Yeah, like you said, it was based on
- 28:52Speaker 2: a kid series by Cressitta Crawl. It was directed by
- 28:56Speaker 2: Dean de Bloyes and Chris Sanders, and they they co
- 29:00Speaker 2: directed it.
- 29:01Speaker 4: Then.
- 29:01Speaker 2: The last time they did that was for Lelo and Stitch,
- 29:05Speaker 2: which is also getting remade. It looks like kind of
- 29:09Speaker 2: a live action kind of thing. Is kind of nuts.
- 29:13Speaker 2: It's number two hundred on the IMDb Top two fifty.
- 29:18Speaker 2: It cracked the top two fifty Nice. It was nominated
- 29:21Speaker 2: for two Oscars, the Best Animated Feature and Best Original score.
- 29:27Speaker 2: It lost to Toy Story three and The Social Network,
- 29:30Speaker 2: which both makes sense to me.
- 29:32Speaker 3: Yeah, hard to argue.
- 29:34Speaker 2: Yeah wow, Yeah, But like Adam said, all of the
- 29:37Speaker 2: voice actors, all of the voice actors are great. They
- 29:41Speaker 2: got so many funny folks, even in the really small roles,
- 29:44Speaker 2: which was really fun.
- 29:46Speaker 3: And yeah, the.
- 29:47Speaker 2: Score by John Powell was awesome and well deserved to be,
- 29:51Speaker 2: not only good, and he was nominated again this year
- 29:55Speaker 2: with Stephen Schwartz for Wicked. He was the guy who
- 29:59Speaker 2: did the score.
- 30:00Speaker 3: I didn't know that. That's cool. Nice.
- 30:02Speaker 2: So he's been nominated for two Oscars and two great movies.
- 30:05Speaker 2: But yeah, I don't have anything too profound. I thought
- 30:09Speaker 2: it was a really sweet movie. Kind of came down
- 30:12Speaker 2: to like a father son kind of relationship and how
- 30:15Speaker 2: complicated those can be. And I really enjoyed it.
- 30:20Speaker 3: I love that.
- 30:21Speaker 4: And I had to when you said to the kids,
- 30:23Speaker 4: of course, I wanted to, Yeah, yeah, ask this because
- 30:27Speaker 4: my kids have watched that TV series so much.
- 30:31Speaker 2: We've watched way more of the series than the.
- 30:36Speaker 4: It's always cool. So many episodes have been played, and
- 30:40Speaker 4: I didn't watch it because I knew, well, I'm going
- 30:43Speaker 4: to basically see the whole thing over time from them
- 30:47Speaker 4: watching it.
- 30:47Speaker 2: Sure, and I'm pretty sure TJ. Miller does the series too.
- 30:54Speaker 2: He's one of the only guys that does the same.
- 30:58Speaker 4: I don't know, that's off the top of my head.
- 30:59Speaker 4: But as far as voice actors for the TV series,
- 31:02Speaker 4: who did they get.
- 31:05Speaker 2: I think they got guys that kind of sound like
- 31:11Speaker 2: I know they did that for like The Crudes too,
- 31:13Speaker 2: So like they have they have a series on The Crudes,
- 31:17Speaker 2: and the actors, if you haven't seen it, were like
- 31:20Speaker 2: Nicholas Cage, Ryan Reynolds, Peter Dinklage, and so they're getting
- 31:24Speaker 2: people that sound like Nicholas Cage. So they're doing a
- 31:28Speaker 2: Nicholas Cage impression throughout the whole thing. And it is
- 31:32Speaker 2: really entertaining just to hear these people sound like like
- 31:36Speaker 2: the actors that they were originally supposed to be. But anyway,
- 31:39Speaker 2: that little tangent there.
- 31:41Speaker 4: Interesting.
- 31:42Speaker 3: Yeah, Niggs, what you got, buddy, very cool, echoing a
- 31:46Speaker 3: lot of the same things you guys have said. I
- 31:49Speaker 3: really love this movie right from the bat. I think
- 31:51Speaker 3: it has like the perfect I think the reason it
- 31:56Speaker 3: works for so many people is it tells a story
- 31:58Speaker 3: that we all know and can identify with really easily
- 32:02Speaker 3: feeling like you're an outsider within your group of people,
- 32:05Speaker 3: like you'll never fit in. It turns out that the
- 32:08Speaker 3: thing that makes him different is the thing that helps
- 32:11Speaker 3: his whole village and really helps him, you know, blossom
- 32:14Speaker 3: into the person that he needs to be for his future,
- 32:18Speaker 3: which I think is just it's a beautiful story, and
- 32:21Speaker 3: I think they do it super super well, up to
- 32:23Speaker 3: and including making friends with something that he didn't know
- 32:27Speaker 3: he should make friends with, and then the symmetry of
- 32:30Speaker 3: like both of them losing a part of themselves, but
- 32:33Speaker 3: together they are a greater whole than individually, you know,
- 32:37Speaker 3: Like all of that stuff is just super great storytelling,
- 32:41Speaker 3: I think, and I echo what you guys said. The
- 32:44Speaker 3: music is amazing in it. I remember liking it, but
- 32:47Speaker 3: this time rewatching, I was just like, oh yeah, I
- 32:49Speaker 3: forgot how moving all this is. The shots are super beautiful,
- 32:54Speaker 3: like the flying and the sense of freedom and all
- 32:57Speaker 3: that stuff, and just the chemistry between these characters is
- 33:02Speaker 3: all really great too, And it's just a fun It's
- 33:06Speaker 3: a fun way to see things. You know. We hear
- 33:08Speaker 3: about Vikings being so harsh, and it's such a nice,
- 33:11Speaker 3: loving young man that we are like sort of seeing
- 33:14Speaker 3: the world through, which is awesome. And then there's good
- 33:18Speaker 3: action and like you said, the million different kinds of dragons,
- 33:21Speaker 3: which is fun. I just think they did a really
- 33:23Speaker 3: good job of like it's sentimental enough for people like me.
- 33:26Speaker 3: It's also nerdy enough for you know, folks that love
- 33:30Speaker 3: the nerdy stuff. And it's you know, it's got like
- 33:32Speaker 3: the training montages, which is fun for people that like that.
- 33:35Speaker 3: It's the father son stuff, which is really cool. There's
- 33:38Speaker 3: like his mom isn't around, so there's that standard animated
- 33:42Speaker 3: like a little bit of anui that's happening. I just
- 33:45Speaker 3: think it's it's a really great little like amalgamation of
- 33:48Speaker 3: all these different things. And I just think it's a
- 33:50Speaker 3: wonderful movie. I was super super happy to see it
- 33:53Speaker 3: actually got such high ratings because I wasn't I guess
- 33:56Speaker 3: I just wasn't sure. I figured it was, you know, good,
- 34:00Speaker 3: because they kept making more, right, so somebody had to
- 34:03Speaker 3: like them at least a little bit. But I just
- 34:06Speaker 3: think it's wonderful.
- 34:07Speaker 4: So that's interesting. And so first off, that's a great
- 34:10Speaker 4: like you you put that very well as far as
- 34:12Speaker 4: like a hot take and like that was well said,
- 34:16Speaker 4: And but that brings the question again to like, how
- 34:20Speaker 4: is was this not like it was so good? How
- 34:24Speaker 4: was it not like a big topic, a big thing,
- 34:27Speaker 4: a big conversation piece.
- 34:29Speaker 3: It was a lot.
- 34:30Speaker 2: I mean, it made like five hundred million dollars, Like
- 34:33Speaker 2: a lot of people saw this.
- 34:35Speaker 3: I think we were just a weird age for it. Yeah,
- 34:37Speaker 3: so we just kind of like missed. Like if this
- 34:40Speaker 3: came out now, your kids would have been into it immediately,
- 34:43Speaker 3: so then you would have been like, oh, duh, it's
- 34:45Speaker 3: like the biggest thing in the world.
- 34:46Speaker 4: My social bubble was not around this.
- 34:48Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, I really think that's what it is, right,
- 34:51Speaker 3: because it was it was ten years ago, you know,
- 34:54Speaker 3: like fifteen right or fifteen years ago. You know, we're
- 34:58Speaker 3: you know, you guys were on chips and stuff at
- 35:00Speaker 3: that point and all that, and yeah.
- 35:05Speaker 4: Yeah that makes sense.
- 35:06Speaker 3: Yeah, I think that's what it was. But I really
- 35:10Speaker 3: really love this movie and this trilogy of movies. I'm
- 35:15Speaker 3: you know, my feelings have been well stated on the
- 35:18Speaker 3: like remake like them, but I'm still gonna watch it
- 35:23Speaker 3: and I'll probably like that.
- 35:24Speaker 4: Well, but hold on, now, this is is this Disney
- 35:29Speaker 4: dream is Dream DreamWorks So here's the thing. I have
- 35:33Speaker 4: faith in the live action remake of this one. I
- 35:38Speaker 4: mean we might be jumping the jumping ahead here, but
- 35:42Speaker 4: because you brought it up. But I'm like actually extremely
- 35:46Speaker 4: excited to see the live action remake of this because
- 35:51Speaker 4: Gerard Butler is reprising his role. I mean, how awesome
- 35:56Speaker 4: is that? That's incredible?
- 35:59Speaker 3: I do like that. I just this movie is so good,
- 36:01Speaker 3: like we don't really need to remake it. But also
- 36:03Speaker 3: they're going to make so much money, so much money,
- 36:06Speaker 3: it makes so much money.
- 36:07Speaker 4: I mean it's tough because when whenever you do these remakes,
- 36:10Speaker 4: especially live action, like it's like, okay, how you have
- 36:15Speaker 4: to pay homage to the original. You have to do
- 36:18Speaker 4: everything right, but then you also have to do something
- 36:20Speaker 4: that is different and makes it like, I don't know,
- 36:25Speaker 4: just like engaging, like like I love what they did
- 36:28Speaker 4: with this kind of stuff, you.
- 36:29Speaker 3: Know that, which is me because I'm I'm impossible to please.
- 36:35Speaker 3: I wanted to do the same and I also want
- 36:38Speaker 3: them to do something.
- 36:41Speaker 4: Oh no, I agree, but when.
- 36:42Speaker 2: You see the exact same like he puts his hand out, yeah,
- 36:50Speaker 2: exact same scene.
- 36:51Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, that's wild.
- 36:54Speaker 4: But so yeah, I mean I'm with you on that too.
- 36:59Speaker 4: It's like, I want it to be exactly the same,
- 37:02Speaker 4: but I also want it not to bore and be
- 37:04Speaker 4: exactly you know. It's it's like, yeah, exactly, it's impossible
- 37:09Speaker 4: to please you. But at the same time, which is
- 37:11Speaker 4: why most of the time, don't do a remake. Just
- 37:14Speaker 4: don't do it.
- 37:14Speaker 3: But I do think right that there's going to be
- 37:16Speaker 3: a ton of kids that are seeing it. That's going
- 37:18Speaker 3: to be their first time, so they're going to frigakin
- 37:20Speaker 3: love it.
- 37:21Speaker 4: You know. It's just really differensing when you say that
- 37:23Speaker 4: and to hear that, because it just really put intoide
- 37:26Speaker 4: how old we are.
- 37:29Speaker 3: That part is just undeniably true. It really is. Wait wait,
- 37:34Speaker 3: but yeah, I don't really think I have a hot take. Honestly,
- 37:39Speaker 3: it was a hot take.
- 37:40Speaker 4: That was a very hot.
- 37:41Speaker 3: Take, super hot score Chain's fun. Nice. Let's go and
- 37:44Speaker 3: talk about our favorite acting performance. Shall we name the
- 37:47Speaker 3: dude the dude?
- 37:49Speaker 5: I'm the dude, so that's what you call me, you
- 37:52Speaker 5: know that, or his dudeness or duder or you know,
- 37:58Speaker 5: eldudo reno if you're not into the brevity.
- 38:00Speaker 4: Thing, dragonfire hot All right, Uh, who's your favorite acting god?
- 38:09Speaker 4: I don't know. This was really tough.
- 38:12Speaker 3: It's quite the ensemble piece for sure.
- 38:14Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean, I guess let me get back to
- 38:24Speaker 4: my sheet here. Mm hmm. I guess i'd give it
- 38:29Speaker 4: to Jay.
- 38:33Speaker 3: That.
- 38:33Speaker 4: I mean, it's tough because it doesn't feel like anyone
- 38:38Speaker 4: really stood out as like a clear Wow, what an
- 38:42Speaker 4: acting performance here. It's all just like really well done
- 38:46Speaker 4: sort of almost bit parts or like you know, they
- 38:50Speaker 4: they do the job they need to do and they
- 38:52Speaker 4: do it really well. But it's not nothing that's gonna
- 38:55Speaker 4: be like, uh, you know. Anthony Hopkins, Holy, that was incredible. Yeah,
- 39:04Speaker 4: so that's kind of I guess I'll just take.
- 39:06Speaker 2: Him for my for sure. I mean I felt like
- 39:08Speaker 2: he was perfectly cast. He has such a weird voice. Yeah,
- 39:13Speaker 2: it's great for kind of a wimpy, nerdy kid exactly exactly.
- 39:19Speaker 2: It helps that we know his like body type and
- 39:22Speaker 2: that he is, you know, just like.
- 39:27Speaker 4: And like what came out before this Tropic Thunder.
- 39:31Speaker 2: Sure maybe I don't know.
- 39:33Speaker 4: Do you remember him and that you don't?
- 39:35Speaker 2: Oh, yeah, I've seen him in a bunch of things.
- 39:37Speaker 2: I don't know if that was right before this, but yeah,
- 39:39Speaker 2: it was.
- 39:40Speaker 4: Like tropic Thunder was in two thousand and eight and
- 39:42Speaker 4: this came out in ten, so it was like fresh
- 39:45Speaker 4: off of that, so of course you see him in
- 39:47Speaker 4: this role. I remember thinking that when I first saw
- 39:50Speaker 4: this and heard his voice, and I was like, oh,
- 39:52Speaker 4: that's the perfect yeah, perfectly perfect.
- 39:54Speaker 2: Perfectly cast for that. Yeah, And I felt the same way.
- 39:58Speaker 2: I picked him for my my dude as well, who
- 40:01Speaker 2: did you pick?
- 40:02Speaker 3: That's also why I picked. I think he's really great.
- 40:06Speaker 3: We've talked about She's out of my league plenty on this.
- 40:09Speaker 3: Uh yeah, right, I love that movie. I think he's
- 40:14Speaker 3: wonderful for all the reasons you guys said, like he
- 40:17Speaker 3: is enough of a nerd, enough of a you know,
- 40:20Speaker 3: like a young voice that I think it works, and
- 40:24Speaker 3: he brought some real heart to it, which I think
- 40:25Speaker 3: is is impressive. And I don't know that that's always
- 40:28Speaker 3: super easy to do. So yeah, I'll just clean sweep
- 40:31Speaker 3: that baby boom.
- 40:33Speaker 2: Well, let's do some of the supporting characters. Lots of
- 40:35Speaker 2: good ones to choose from here.
- 40:37Speaker 3: Let's choose the Tucci Award to chi we want to
- 40:42Speaker 3: pick for this one, right.
- 40:44Speaker 4: I guess I'll go with Gerard Butler.
- 40:46Speaker 3: I love that's.
- 40:49Speaker 4: But It's not to take away from anyone else, you know,
- 40:53Speaker 4: everyone just like perfectly did their job on this. You know, yeah,
- 40:58Speaker 4: I don't have any this know when I could be like, well,
- 41:01Speaker 4: I didn't think he did a veryly everybody's even Craig
- 41:04Speaker 4: Ferguson did a good job.
- 41:06Speaker 2: Yeah, well, because him as my Tucci I love. I
- 41:14Speaker 2: thought he was the best character in the whole movie.
- 41:16Speaker 2: He was a mentor to the kids, he was the
- 41:18Speaker 2: best friend to the leader.
- 41:21Speaker 4: Uh, he was the best line he had.
- 41:24Speaker 2: Yeah, he had a lot of great lines, really funny.
- 41:27Speaker 2: He saw the strengths and the faults in everyone and
- 41:31Speaker 2: was able to point him out and do it in
- 41:34Speaker 2: a kind of a gentle way, and he was hilarious
- 41:37Speaker 2: while doing it. I I loved it and couldn't believe
- 41:40Speaker 2: that it was Craig Ferguson. Just you know, he's just
- 41:43Speaker 2: always been a talk show host in my mind, so
- 41:47Speaker 2: seeing him be pretty legit voice actor is pretty great.
- 41:51Speaker 3: Come on, he was on the Drew Carre Show and show.
- 41:54Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, I was thinking that when I said that.
- 41:57Speaker 3: Yet he was like a real Uh he's almost like
- 42:00Speaker 3: the real chief of the of the like whole town
- 42:04Speaker 3: in a way. Because he is the like the sort
- 42:07Speaker 3: of central spoke that the whole wheel turns around in
- 42:09Speaker 3: a way. I mean, they are like a battling society.
- 42:12Speaker 3: So that's why Stoic is the chief. But this guy,
- 42:16Speaker 3: like he is the intergenerational voice.
- 42:18Speaker 4: Which has some conspiracy theory, blow my mind kind of stuff.
- 42:21Speaker 4: You're talking here, I'm not saying the chief the whole time.
- 42:26Speaker 3: Are you kidding a coup or this wasn't a puppet regime.
- 42:30Speaker 3: That's not what I mean. I just like he he
- 42:33Speaker 3: held a place of power and distinguished you know, uh, distinguishment.
- 42:39Speaker 3: I guess within that that little track, which I think
- 42:42Speaker 3: is cool.
- 42:42Speaker 4: He was just he was the other the commenting voice
- 42:46Speaker 4: on your shoulder.
- 42:47Speaker 3: Yeah for every character, like, yeah, that's a great pick.
- 42:53Speaker 3: I thought Christopher Mintz pots as fish Legs, who we
- 42:56Speaker 3: mentioned already, was hysterical in this movie. I do agree,
- 43:00Speaker 3: everyone was amazing, but he his lines just really stuck.
- 43:04Speaker 3: I love the like a little nerdy characters, my favorite
- 43:07Speaker 3: so fun.
- 43:07Speaker 2: He probably could have been up for hiccup. Dude, he's
- 43:10Speaker 2: got that.
- 43:15Speaker 4: He's like saying the stats of the they're about to fight.
- 43:21Speaker 3: It's perfect that and then he's still.
- 43:28Speaker 4: PUS five track.
- 43:31Speaker 3: Yes you so fun, so fun America Ferrera was.
- 43:41Speaker 4: Because she was she only did the first movie and
- 43:43Speaker 4: then oh and then someone else who was it took over. Yes, okay,
- 43:51Speaker 4: I remember, yeah, I remember looking that up and I
- 43:52Speaker 4: was like, oh wow, that makes sense. Yeah, someone, okay,
- 43:57Speaker 4: we should probably look this up.
- 43:58Speaker 3: I can look that up. If you guys want to
- 44:00Speaker 3: name a runner up or two. Sure, I mean t J.
- 44:04Speaker 2: Miller has such a great voice.
- 44:06Speaker 3: Yeah, he's pretty great.
- 44:08Speaker 2: Yeah, he's he's in him paired up with Kristin Wig
- 44:12Speaker 2: was so great. H they're tough, not and rough.
- 44:16Speaker 3: I don't think I would have if I wouldn't have
- 44:18Speaker 3: known that was Kristin Wig, I don't think I would
- 44:20Speaker 3: have known. Same, Like, her voice doesn't sound anything like that. Yeah,
- 44:24Speaker 3: it's interesting.
- 44:25Speaker 4: Yeah. Yeah, that's a good sign of a of a
- 44:29Speaker 4: really good voice actor when you can't tell it's them.
- 44:32Speaker 3: You know, mm hmm.
- 44:34Speaker 2: And you could definitely tell it was Jonah Hill. Yeah,
- 44:39Speaker 2: and right, he was pretty great.
- 44:41Speaker 3: He seemed like he got to maybe ad lib a bit.
- 44:44Speaker 3: He seemed so like Jonah Hill.
- 44:47Speaker 4: And oh for sure, the whole, the whole, Like, so
- 44:51Speaker 4: I'm living in my parents' basement thing.
- 44:54Speaker 3: Right, you look like you come on and like block
- 45:01Speaker 3: out the sun like I'm a little busy right now
- 45:03Speaker 3: or whatever.
- 45:04Speaker 2: Yeah, I couldn't do that, but a little busy good.
- 45:09Speaker 3: Yeah, it's really funny. Yeah, not to sidetrack us, but
- 45:12Speaker 3: America for her, looks like she wasn't all three, So
- 45:17Speaker 3: it looks like she.
- 45:18Speaker 2: Just must not be in the series. That's probably what
- 45:21Speaker 2: you were thinking. And rarely they rarely get the voice
- 45:25Speaker 2: actors to do right right.
- 45:26Speaker 3: But she was great too as sort of the like
- 45:29Speaker 3: gruff you know. Love Interest was wonderful. Yeah, you know,
- 45:34Speaker 3: it was great. It was really funny.
- 45:37Speaker 2: It's also interesting they only had the older folks do
- 45:41Speaker 2: the Scottish accent.
- 45:43Speaker 3: Yeah, that was something was.
- 45:44Speaker 4: So here's a question, who was David a spite loud
- 45:48Speaker 4: David Tenant? Right? Who I'm blanking? That was?
- 45:56Speaker 2: I think we love David Tennant.
- 45:58Speaker 3: Right, It's just it's a short little part. Maybe I
- 46:06Speaker 3: didn't write it loud. Yeah, but who you know, but
- 46:11Speaker 3: in the trick it said something about it It's fine,
- 46:16Speaker 3: we'll get to it at some point. Yeah, I know.
- 46:18Speaker 2: It was just like a little cameo.
- 46:21Speaker 3: Okay. Yeah. The narrator spie loud. Yeah, it just says that.
- 46:32Speaker 3: That's all. That's probably why I didn't write down. I
- 46:34Speaker 3: don't know who Spielout is. Either one of the village
- 46:36Speaker 3: people maybe I get. I mean, I couldn't mc.
- 46:44Speaker 2: That's the village people.
- 46:45Speaker 1: Oh.
- 46:52Speaker 4: But but just so, just as I'm looking through the
- 46:54Speaker 4: list here, and I don't know the source on this,
- 46:57Speaker 4: but it has Samuel L. Jackson listed here, which is
- 47:00Speaker 4: making me.
- 47:00Speaker 3: Go, what, I think, You're on a different movie.
- 47:05Speaker 4: It's How to Train Your Dragon cast. It just keeps
- 47:08Speaker 4: going down the list, but he's like on the the
- 47:11Speaker 4: fourth row. I'm not sure what's going on here. I
- 47:15Speaker 4: feel like Google's lying to me right now.
- 47:17Speaker 3: Yeah, I think that that's some AI or something of
- 47:23Speaker 3: the ladies.
- 47:25Speaker 2: But I think those are all the characters I wanted
- 47:28Speaker 2: to talk about. I think maybe we should move on.
- 47:29Speaker 2: Let's talk about our favorite scene, and let's choose the Dingus.
- 47:36Speaker 3: Is quite simple, really ingus Dingus.
- 47:38Speaker 1: I can talk about my dingus all night long.
- 47:41Speaker 4: To the scene after everything goes to crap. Yeah, and
- 47:51Speaker 4: he has the dialogue with Astrod mmm. And that scene, yes,
- 47:57Speaker 4: because that is the biggest moment of the that's the
- 48:01Speaker 4: whole point of the whole movie right there. To me,
- 48:03Speaker 4: it's like that whole dialogue that between the two where
- 48:08Speaker 4: she's prodding him to get to the crux of the
- 48:14Speaker 4: matter that she's like, He's like, I couldn't heal the
- 48:18Speaker 4: dragon and she's liked him, and then he says, I
- 48:22Speaker 4: wouldn't kill him when I saw, you know, and then
- 48:25Speaker 4: she said you said wouldn't that time. It's just like
- 48:29Speaker 4: up into the whole like societal thing, right, and so yeah,
- 48:34Speaker 4: it's just it's wonderful, just like a great, great, great scene.
- 48:39Speaker 4: I'm out of frame, but don't worry. I'm just getting
- 48:41Speaker 4: more ice.
- 48:42Speaker 3: Cool. It was so good. I need I after that dragonfire.
- 48:52Speaker 3: That's a great that is a great pick. And I
- 48:54Speaker 3: love that scene because she's sort of also the last
- 48:56Speaker 3: dominant to him, m to your ice in the back,
- 49:03Speaker 3: but he like, uh, you know the Craig Ferguson's character
- 49:08Speaker 3: believes in Hiccup. His dad eventually believes in Hiccup, right,
- 49:11Speaker 3: like she needs to believe and then he needs to believe.
- 49:15Speaker 4: And I love that, Yes, that moment.
- 49:17Speaker 3: That's so good. That's great, that's great.
- 49:19Speaker 2: God had a hard times hard. I really loved the
- 49:25Speaker 2: montage of Hiccup subduing.
- 49:27Speaker 3: All of the dragons.
- 49:28Speaker 2: I thought that was a lot of fun. And the
- 49:31Speaker 2: whole time it's then it's peppered in in between that
- 49:35Speaker 2: him going and like furthering his friendship with Toothless.
- 49:40Speaker 3: I really loved.
- 49:41Speaker 2: All of that, y seeing his like, you know, everybody
- 49:45Speaker 2: becoming more impressed with him and him not being such
- 49:48Speaker 2: an outcast, and that was really really fun. I probably
- 49:52Speaker 2: put that number one. Love that, but I got some
- 49:55Speaker 2: other owner ups. What were your what was your favorite one?
- 49:58Speaker 3: I just want to add on to that, like the
- 50:00Speaker 3: kickoff to that where he uses the eel, which we
- 50:04Speaker 3: see the you know that he hates the eel, hates it.
- 50:08Speaker 3: He uses the eel to get that fire dragon back
- 50:10Speaker 3: in its cage. And then there's that really great like
- 50:13Speaker 3: stun silence scene where people are just like what the hell,
- 50:17Speaker 3: they drop their weapon and stuff, and that's sort of
- 50:20Speaker 3: kick starts this whole thing, right, which is really fun.
- 50:22Speaker 3: But I loved that. I thought that was just like
- 50:24Speaker 3: wonderfully set up.
- 50:26Speaker 4: It's and it's common thinking like so many movies too, right,
- 50:30Speaker 4: like you.
- 50:31Speaker 3: Know, yes, yeah, that's like a trope almost like.
- 50:34Speaker 4: It, but it's always worse that just a montage, but
- 50:36Speaker 4: like the scene where everybody is just like absolutely stunned
- 50:40Speaker 4: and shocked because something just happened that never happens, you know. Yeah,
- 50:44Speaker 4: those moments are so great in movies.
- 50:48Speaker 3: So fun. And then I I mean that final. There
- 50:52Speaker 3: are times when the final, like a big battle doesn't play,
- 50:56Speaker 3: you know, doesn't play for me, and I don't love
- 50:58Speaker 3: it as much as the rest. This one does work
- 51:01Speaker 3: for me. It's so great because it's the scope of
- 51:04Speaker 3: it is just perfect, and the like the brilliance of
- 51:07Speaker 3: putting them in the clouds and just us seeing sort
- 51:11Speaker 3: of the like the lightning from from Toothless's you know,
- 51:15Speaker 3: atomic attack or whatever the hell it is. Yeah, and
- 51:17Speaker 3: like that just giving a silhouette of this giant dragon
- 51:21Speaker 3: miles off in the distance is so cool and it's
- 51:24Speaker 3: so much better than showing it almost, Like I just
- 51:27Speaker 3: you know, I love that so much. That whole last
- 51:30Speaker 3: battle scene is really fun.
- 51:32Speaker 4: I think, Yeah, they really did a good time. There's
- 51:33Speaker 4: no point of it where you're like okay, I'm out,
- 51:35Speaker 4: or like yeah, you know, it's like oh, oh that's brilliant.
- 51:39Speaker 4: Oh of course that would happen. Oh that's brilliant. Of
- 51:41Speaker 4: course that would happen even when even when the Red
- 51:44Speaker 4: Death gets frustrated and it starts spitting fire in like
- 51:47Speaker 4: all these like cool directions, you're like, whoa, yeah, like
- 51:51Speaker 4: it's just very very well executed. Yeah all the No,
- 51:55Speaker 4: I would not say the same for the second movie,
- 51:57Speaker 4: but I'll get to that later, right.
- 52:00Speaker 3: Yeah, I can understand that, but I love that scene.
- 52:03Speaker 3: I also love the when they finally figure out the
- 52:06Speaker 3: flying is obviously just such a wonderful scene because we
- 52:10Speaker 3: get this swelling music with it too, and like you
- 52:14Speaker 3: can tell they both feel freedom in a way they
- 52:16Speaker 3: haven't maybe ever, you know, both Toothless and Hiccup in that.
- 52:20Speaker 3: Oh yeah, I just think that's so wonderful. It is,
- 52:24Speaker 3: I really, I really love that too. And then yeah,
- 52:29Speaker 3: I mean I guess this is kind of what you said, Rob,
- 52:31Speaker 3: but just all the all the training scenes I think
- 52:34Speaker 3: are just so fun. I love a montage or training scene,
- 52:40Speaker 3: you know, it's always great for me, but not it.
- 52:44Speaker 4: Just not only just a montage because you look at Rocky,
- 52:47Speaker 4: that's like that's a montage training scene, right, But it's
- 52:49Speaker 4: not the same because the difference here is like these
- 52:52Speaker 4: these training scenes are one where people are consistently the
- 52:55Speaker 4: whole time just like how just like, yeah, blow in
- 53:00Speaker 4: their minds. Their minds are blowing, They're like, what is happening?
- 53:03Speaker 4: That's what makes it extra fun and invigorating.
- 53:10Speaker 3: Yeah, I like that. I agree? What what other runners up? Did?
- 53:13Speaker 3: You guys?
- 53:14Speaker 2: The only other one I had was when Astrod is
- 53:18Speaker 2: forced to go on the ride with Toothless and acup.
- 53:21Speaker 3: Oh yeah that is fun.
- 53:23Speaker 4: That was super fun, super fun. Yeah, yep, very well executed.
- 53:30Speaker 3: I love that. But otherwise it's hard to pick individual
- 53:34Speaker 3: scenes for me, and this one, for some reason, it
- 53:37Speaker 3: kind of just all maybe because it's so short too,
- 53:39Speaker 3: that it you know, it just feels like one contiguous
- 53:42Speaker 3: thing almost, But yeah, I love it all right, Well,
- 53:46Speaker 3: should we go on and talk about our favorite quotes?
- 53:48Speaker 3: Is the time to show me the money show?
- 53:58Speaker 4: I love I got love.
- 54:04Speaker 3: He said that, like you forgot this one?
- 54:08Speaker 4: No no, no, no no, I love this far.
- 54:11Speaker 2: Yes, I got to train your dragon, I got I
- 54:16Speaker 2: got my favorite funny quote, and then I got my
- 54:18Speaker 2: favorite like heartfelt quote.
- 54:21Speaker 4: So can I get to or I mean, so let's
- 54:26Speaker 4: do the funny one first? I mean, the first time
- 54:30Speaker 4: I heard this with credit for Craig Ferguson said, this
- 54:34Speaker 4: was just like I legit because I was still in
- 54:36Speaker 4: the fence on the movie at this time, and then
- 54:38Speaker 4: when he said this, I was like, Okay, that was
- 54:40Speaker 4: really funny. Yeah, it's the nah, you're thinking about this
- 54:45Speaker 4: all wrong. It's not so much what you look like,
- 54:48Speaker 4: it's what inside that he can't stand. Is a great one,
- 54:55Speaker 4: a great life.
- 54:56Speaker 3: You know what's your entire being doesn't care for? That
- 55:00Speaker 3: is great? Good call a little bit?
- 55:03Speaker 4: Oh goes that cracks me up every time.
- 55:07Speaker 3: That's really good. What was the serious one?
- 55:14Speaker 4: The back to the scene that that was my dingus
- 55:17Speaker 4: that I wouldn't kill him because he looked as frightened
- 55:20Speaker 4: as I was. I looked at him and I saw myself.
- 55:23Speaker 2: Yeah it was good, so good, so good?
- 55:30Speaker 3: Yeah, really great. How about you wrap? What do you
- 55:33Speaker 3: got for some quill?
- 55:34Speaker 2: I got some good ones. I enjoyed the callbacks of
- 55:39Speaker 2: all the you just gestured to all of me.
- 55:44Speaker 4: It's like, yeah, you.
- 55:46Speaker 3: Know, it happened a few times.
- 55:50Speaker 2: Gobber is like, don't you know, hiccup, if you ever
- 55:53Speaker 2: want to get out there to fight dragons, you need.
- 55:54Speaker 3: To stop all this. He's like, but you just pointed
- 55:58Speaker 3: to all of me. He's like, yes, that's it. Stop
- 56:00Speaker 3: being all of you so rude.
- 56:05Speaker 2: But and they do that a few times, but then
- 56:08Speaker 2: it ends with stoic being turns out all we needed
- 56:12Speaker 2: was a little more of all this. Yes, it's like
- 56:15Speaker 2: hug just gestured to all of me, which is pretty
- 56:19Speaker 2: fun how they brought that back.
- 56:24Speaker 3: I like when Gobber is, oh.
- 56:28Speaker 2: Nice for you to join the party. I thought you'd
- 56:30Speaker 2: been carried off. Hiccup says, who me, Nah, come on,
- 56:33Speaker 2: I'm way too muscular for their taste.
- 56:35Speaker 3: They wouldn't know what to do with all this, wrong
- 56:40Speaker 3: with all this.
- 56:41Speaker 2: But then Gobber says, well, they need toothpicks, don't they.
- 56:46Speaker 3: That's pretty good. It's pretty good. That's pretty good.
- 56:51Speaker 2: Yeah, why don't you go abukes.
- 56:54Speaker 3: Let's see here. I think it was t J. Miller
- 56:58Speaker 3: when he's like, oh, I am hurt. I am very
- 57:01Speaker 3: much hurt. I am very much hurt. I think he
- 57:03Speaker 3: said it even a couple of times in scenes. But
- 57:07Speaker 3: that is some some vintage t J. Millers.
- 57:12Speaker 4: Well, yeah, it's well voice acted. I feel like, yeah, yeah.
- 57:18Speaker 3: Really fun. I loved the Again, I think it's TJ. Miller,
- 57:26Speaker 3: but he sees the ladies in the smoke when they're
- 57:29Speaker 3: doing one of their training things and he's like, oh,
- 57:31Speaker 3: your butts are getting bigger. We thought you were a dragon.
- 57:34Speaker 3: And then Jonah Hill's character goes, is there anything wrong
- 57:37Speaker 3: with a dragonesque figure? That really cracked me up for
- 57:42Speaker 3: some reason this time. Uh, he's just trying so hard,
- 57:47Speaker 3: so hard. Uh, we have a surplus of dragon fighting dragons,
- 57:52Speaker 3: but do we have enough bread making? I'm sorry, dragon
- 57:55Speaker 3: fighting vikings, small home repair vikings. He's like, I don't know,
- 58:06Speaker 3: I just hang out. Also, I should have maybe said
- 58:12Speaker 3: this first scene because it cracked me up. The oh
- 58:14Speaker 3: your mother would have wanted you to have this. And
- 58:17Speaker 3: he gives him the helmet. It's like it's half of
- 58:20Speaker 3: her breastplate and he's like, oh god, he's like matching set.
- 58:26Speaker 3: And then they have the super awkward well I should
- 58:29Speaker 3: I should really get to bed. Yeah, good talk talk,
- 58:32Speaker 3: thanks for stopping buying for the breast hat was good.
- 58:36Speaker 3: That cracks me up. It really got me good. Thanks
- 58:39Speaker 3: for the for the bressed hat.
- 58:41Speaker 4: I was like, all right, okay, yes that was my
- 58:45Speaker 4: second runner up. Funny quote, so funny that really?
- 58:51Speaker 3: Yeah, do you have more. I don't need to say
- 58:52Speaker 3: them all either.
- 58:53Speaker 4: If I had, I had a backup serious quote and
- 58:56Speaker 4: then a backup funny quote. That was my backup funny
- 58:59Speaker 4: quote because it's funny because like in the second movie,
- 59:02Speaker 4: you see his mom and she's that's not that isn't
- 59:05Speaker 4: you know it's not true? Like the size right? But yeah,
- 59:11Speaker 4: that that line the first way was just ridiculously funny.
- 59:17Speaker 4: Oh no, no, robbody said it. Just that turns out
- 59:19Speaker 4: we all we needed was a little more of all
- 59:21Speaker 4: of this.
- 59:22Speaker 3: Yeah, that was my second one. I love that for sure, Uh,
- 59:26Speaker 3: you do have more?
- 59:27Speaker 2: Wrap just one last one, and it was more just how.
- 59:31Speaker 3: He said it.
- 59:33Speaker 2: And it's when they've pretty much kidnapped Astrid.
- 59:38Speaker 3: It's like two of us, what are you doing? We
- 59:40Speaker 3: need her to like us?
- 59:41Speaker 2: And now the spinning thank you for nothing, you useless reptile.
- 59:46Speaker 3: The way that he said it was so great. I
- 59:49Speaker 3: love that.
- 59:50Speaker 4: It was very j It was very like I wondered
- 59:54Speaker 4: if that was ad libbed or not.
- 59:56Speaker 3: It was actually that one was in the trivia that
- 59:58Speaker 3: it was. It was okay that one and one other one,
- 1:00:01Speaker 3: but I think I wrote it down. Yeah, I don't
- 1:00:03Speaker 3: remember off hand, But I love that also, like Toothless
- 1:00:07Speaker 3: was being a hell of a wingman during that part,
- 1:00:09Speaker 3: like he was for sure there.
- 1:00:12Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:00:14Speaker 3: I also love at the end Christopher Min's bloss when
- 1:00:17Speaker 3: they're they're fighting the giant dragon at the end and
- 1:00:21Speaker 3: they're like doing the sound stuff, yeah, the red death
- 1:00:24Speaker 3: to confuse them. They're doing the sound stuff and it
- 1:00:27Speaker 3: affects their dragons as well, which they didn't think about.
- 1:00:30Speaker 3: And he's like, I've lost control, I've lost power on
- 1:00:32Speaker 3: the grundle. And then he's like I'm okay, and they
- 1:00:35Speaker 3: crash and he's like I'm okay, I'm okay, and then
- 1:00:38Speaker 3: they falls on top of him. He's like, yeah, that's okay,
- 1:00:41Speaker 3: that's okay. Yeah, that bit will always get me the like, yep,
- 1:00:44Speaker 3: I'm all right Less, So now it's always funny to me.
- 1:00:50Speaker 3: It's good, clean fun okay. Those were all the ones
- 1:00:53Speaker 3: I wrote down, though, Yeah me too nice? All right,
- 1:00:56Speaker 3: Well should we move ahead to buks boo who moments?
- 1:01:03Speaker 2: I don't think I picked enough, But while I was
- 1:01:05Speaker 2: writing it down, I wrote down five.
- 1:01:10Speaker 3: Yeah. I know it's so much.
- 1:01:12Speaker 2: More, it's more than five, but these are the five
- 1:01:15Speaker 2: I wrote down when Stoic says, you're not my son.
- 1:01:19Speaker 3: Oh yeah, that.
- 1:01:21Speaker 2: Was pretty turtle when he says that he was about
- 1:01:25Speaker 2: to kill Toothless but then he saw himself the quote
- 1:01:27Speaker 2: that brought up love that then the I'm proud to
- 1:01:34Speaker 2: call you my son. Yeah, and then after Toothless has
- 1:01:42Speaker 2: saved Hiccup but Stoak apologizes to Toothless that he opens
- 1:01:47Speaker 2: up his wing and we see that Hiccup is alive. Absolutely,
- 1:01:53Speaker 2: And then I thought, just you know, the end, seeing
- 1:01:56Speaker 2: that the dragons and the people of Burke are flourishing,
- 1:01:59Speaker 2: being to either and he gets a smooch.
- 1:02:02Speaker 3: And I love the like saying a line at the
- 1:02:05Speaker 3: beginning of the movie and having having at the end
- 1:02:08Speaker 3: but slightly different meaning like with more ownership. I love that.
- 1:02:12Speaker 2: So yeah, absolutely, second, places have mosquitoes, we have dragons.
- 1:02:16Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, I feel like there's more though,
- 1:02:21Speaker 4: oh yeah, there's gotta be more. I was going to
- 1:02:24Speaker 4: guess a dozen who.
- 1:02:26Speaker 3: Well, what are the other one? The instances?
- 1:02:30Speaker 4: Well, it's just a gut feeling that I figured this
- 1:02:32Speaker 4: movie gets you a dozen times.
- 1:02:36Speaker 3: I can tell you I get that. Yeah, yeah, how
- 1:02:39Speaker 3: many did you have? So I had four more? So
- 1:02:43Speaker 3: it was a total nine.
- 1:02:45Speaker 2: I am not doing well on this lately, all Right,
- 1:02:49Speaker 2: it's hard.
- 1:02:50Speaker 3: It's hard to know. When he first lets Toothless go
- 1:02:54Speaker 3: got me the like when he can't kill him basically,
- 1:02:58Speaker 3: and you know that's a big mom for him obviously,
- 1:03:00Speaker 3: and he just won't do it. Their first big flight,
- 1:03:05Speaker 3: I really loved a lot. That got a tear out
- 1:03:07Speaker 3: of me.
- 1:03:08Speaker 4: So it's more like not like a sad but like
- 1:03:10Speaker 4: a tier of the flight tears, hype tears.
- 1:03:18Speaker 3: Okay, we learned about those during the Lord of the Rings.
- 1:03:22Speaker 3: There was a lot of those, oh for sure.
- 1:03:25Speaker 4: Oh for sure, speaking which we got to talk about
- 1:03:27Speaker 4: the new one that just came out.
- 1:03:29Speaker 3: Oh I just saw it. Yeah, yeah, fun, we should
- 1:03:33Speaker 3: we will talk about that for sure.
- 1:03:34Speaker 2: Uh.
- 1:03:36Speaker 3: When Aster did and Hiccup then take their first big
- 1:03:38Speaker 3: flight together, I loved that. That music, like I said,
- 1:03:42Speaker 3: was just.
- 1:03:43Speaker 4: That whole scene is just glorious, wonderful.
- 1:03:46Speaker 3: And then oh and I think this might have actually
- 1:03:48Speaker 3: been before that, But when they have taken their first
- 1:03:51Speaker 3: flight and the little tiny dragons come and they like
- 1:03:55Speaker 3: want to steal some fish. Yeah, and he's like everything
- 1:03:59Speaker 3: we think we know about us wrong or wrong? That
- 1:04:01Speaker 3: really got me this time and to him. Yeah, it's
- 1:04:05Speaker 3: so cute, you know. They made him so like puppy
- 1:04:07Speaker 3: slash Kitty j Center or whatever.
- 1:04:10Speaker 4: Oh yeah for sure.
- 1:04:11Speaker 3: Yeah, but yeah, those were all of them, all right,
- 1:04:15Speaker 3: A scant nine total.
- 1:04:17Speaker 2: Less than ten.
- 1:04:19Speaker 3: Pretty reasonable, we can all agree, emotionally regulated. Let's go
- 1:04:23Speaker 3: to some movie trivia here. Let's see the hesitation that
- 1:04:28Speaker 3: Toothless shows during the famous touch scene. You know, was
- 1:04:32Speaker 3: actually originally an animation error, but it looks so perfect
- 1:04:37Speaker 3: that they just chose to leave it in the film,
- 1:04:39Speaker 3: and it is. It is absolutely perfect.
- 1:04:42Speaker 4: Yeah, how does how do you make an animation error?
- 1:04:45Speaker 3: I don't really know enough about so, like maybe they
- 1:04:51Speaker 3: wanted him to like just turn his head but he
- 1:04:53Speaker 3: actually went back or something. Yeah, I don't know, but
- 1:04:56Speaker 3: it does look so great, so I get it. While
- 1:04:59Speaker 3: they were like, well, it's that is perfect, so let's
- 1:05:02Speaker 3: keep it.
- 1:05:03Speaker 4: That's a crazy concept and it interesting.
- 1:05:09Speaker 3: The night Fury Dragon species was originally going to be
- 1:05:12Speaker 3: more wolf like in appearance, but instead one of the
- 1:05:16Speaker 3: DreamWorks employees, computer screen savers, was of a black leopard
- 1:05:20Speaker 3: and that inspired them to make him more feline in appearance.
- 1:05:24Speaker 4: To that was smart.
- 1:05:26Speaker 3: I thought that was really great. Yeah, I'm sure a
- 1:05:29Speaker 3: wolf would have worked in retrospect, but this makes more
- 1:05:32Speaker 3: sense to my brain.
- 1:05:33Speaker 4: No, I think the cat approaches more.
- 1:05:35Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:05:36Speaker 4: Yeah, and I feel like they at least Toothless definitely
- 1:05:41Speaker 4: leans himself more to a cat.
- 1:05:43Speaker 3: Yeah for sure. So in the book, Hiccup doesn't have
- 1:05:48Speaker 3: a love interest, which I just thought was interesting that
- 1:05:51Speaker 3: they sort of tied that in and the and Toothless
- 1:05:56Speaker 3: in the book. Is the size of that really that
- 1:06:00Speaker 3: tiny dragon that they fight at one point in the
- 1:06:03Speaker 3: training that looks like a little like chihuahua kind of
- 1:06:06Speaker 3: thing or whatever. Toothless those originally that size, but they
- 1:06:12Speaker 3: decided to make him bigger so he could like be
- 1:06:15Speaker 3: a mount and all that. So that was all just
- 1:06:17Speaker 3: the right choice, obviously.
- 1:06:18Speaker 4: I'm sorry, does does it not grow to a I
- 1:06:22Speaker 4: don't This was all.
- 1:06:24Speaker 3: The information there was, and I haven't read them, so
- 1:06:26Speaker 3: I guess I don't.
- 1:06:26Speaker 4: Know for sure, But that's the huge part of the
- 1:06:29Speaker 4: whole story.
- 1:06:30Speaker 3: Yeah, it's really interesting. If that's not and they just
- 1:06:33Speaker 3: added that, that's pretty impressive. Yeah, let's see. Oh there's
- 1:06:38Speaker 3: I didn't see this, but there's a drawing that very
- 1:06:42Speaker 3: closely resembles the flux capacitor from Back to the Future
- 1:06:45Speaker 3: that's on Hiccups like design board, which I never saw,
- 1:06:49Speaker 3: but that's okay fun. I checked it out later and
- 1:06:52Speaker 3: it is there, but I didn't know at the time.
- 1:06:55Speaker 3: I thought that was cool. Oh that Due to the
- 1:06:59Speaker 3: popularity of this film's release, many animal shelters across the
- 1:07:03Speaker 3: US reported that black cats were adopted and named Toothless
- 1:07:07Speaker 3: in like record numbers.
- 1:07:08Speaker 4: I guess, oh, that's amaz.
- 1:07:13Speaker 3: Right there. That's really fun. The scene where Toothless learns
- 1:07:18Speaker 3: to smile was inspired by the animator's infant son learning
- 1:07:22Speaker 3: to smile, and I just thought that was really cute.
- 1:07:24Speaker 2: It was super cute.
- 1:07:26Speaker 3: That I thought that scene was great. Let's see, Gobber
- 1:07:32Speaker 3: has a total of fourteen different hand attachments throughout the film.
- 1:07:35Speaker 3: I just thought that was fun. Nice. Some little weirdo
- 1:07:38Speaker 3: counted sneak.
- 1:07:42Speaker 4: It was another gob Yeah, another.
- 1:07:45Speaker 3: Absolutely uh see. Oh so, originally the film, it was
- 1:07:51Speaker 3: intended to end that Hiccup was largely unscathed after the
- 1:07:54Speaker 3: big climactic battle, but the directors felt like that wasn't
- 1:07:59Speaker 3: entirely believable that they could beat this big red bread
- 1:08:03Speaker 3: death dragon without great cost, so they decided that he
- 1:08:07Speaker 3: was going to lose part of his left leg and
- 1:08:09Speaker 3: have the parallel with him and Chuflets. So much better,
- 1:08:12Speaker 3: so much better.
- 1:08:14Speaker 4: Well done.
- 1:08:14Speaker 3: But they did some screening tests because they were worried
- 1:08:17Speaker 3: that this would be like, you know, too scary for kids,
- 1:08:20Speaker 3: our parents wouldn't love that or whatever. But apparently, like unprompted,
- 1:08:25Speaker 3: parents in the audience came up afterward and were like,
- 1:08:29Speaker 3: this has to be kept in. It's such a good,
- 1:08:31Speaker 3: powerful thing, and it's a way for kids to learn about,
- 1:08:34Speaker 3: you know, like sacrifice and things like that.
- 1:08:36Speaker 4: So absolutely and.
- 1:08:40Speaker 3: Even praised this ending and consider it to be like
- 1:08:42Speaker 3: the true spirit of her book, which I thought was
- 1:08:44Speaker 3: really cool. Yeah, so yeah, I just I loved that.
- 1:08:48Speaker 3: I thought that was really cool, and I agree, like
- 1:08:50Speaker 3: it would it's a way better ending. It's just.
- 1:08:54Speaker 4: Yeah, way better.
- 1:08:56Speaker 3: And then the last one that I have is according
- 1:08:59Speaker 3: to the audio commentary, when Hiccup, Asterd and Toothless are
- 1:09:03Speaker 3: flying to the Dragon Island and they're surrounded by all
- 1:09:06Speaker 3: those other dragons that are bringing their kill in to
- 1:09:08Speaker 3: the big you know, red death for the first time,
- 1:09:11Speaker 3: one of the dragons is carrying Gloria, the hippo from Madagascar. Weird.
- 1:09:17Speaker 3: I never know, obviously, but I thought, I guess it's
- 1:09:20Speaker 3: like DreamWorks they'll stick things inner. Pixar does that, So
- 1:09:24Speaker 3: I thought that was pretty great. Morbid, That's wasn't that crazy?
- 1:09:29Speaker 4: Wow?
- 1:09:30Speaker 3: Okay, but yeah that was.
- 1:09:33Speaker 4: I have to like find that that's incredible.
- 1:09:35Speaker 3: Well, you gotta be able to see it, I would guess,
- 1:09:37Speaker 3: But yeah, that was That was all the trivia that
- 1:09:40Speaker 3: I had though.
- 1:09:41Speaker 2: Okay, all I had was the only non Best Picture
- 1:09:46Speaker 2: Oscar nominee that year to be nominated for Best Original Score.
- 1:09:51Speaker 3: Oh wow, that was it. Yeah.
- 1:09:54Speaker 2: Otherwise, yeah, you you said everything iphoned. Did you have
- 1:09:57Speaker 2: any trivia about this at all?
- 1:09:59Speaker 3: Adam?
- 1:10:01Speaker 2: No, Yeah, you didn't need to get any interested.
- 1:10:03Speaker 3: There wasn't like a bunch out there either.
- 1:10:04Speaker 2: No, And it's tougher, you know, it's like who was
- 1:10:08Speaker 2: up for roles?
- 1:10:09Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 1:10:10Speaker 2: Yeah, well then let's move on to Judgment Day. Will
- 1:10:13Speaker 2: there be a sequel?
- 1:10:16Speaker 3: We know that there's two sequels right now? Three?
- 1:10:20Speaker 4: Well, I guess two sequels, one remake, four or like
- 1:10:24Speaker 4: what like four seasons of animated TV. I mean, I
- 1:10:31Speaker 4: don't know. I'm just guessing this for I don't know.
- 1:10:33Speaker 4: It just feels like this for yeah, I believe.
- 1:10:37Speaker 3: Yeah, they just keep.
- 1:10:37Speaker 4: Much so much money.
- 1:10:41Speaker 3: Yeah, when they're making that much money.
- 1:10:44Speaker 4: Let's put it this way. I went to the wiki
- 1:10:48Speaker 4: uh fan page fandom page for this entire universe, the franchise.
- 1:10:55Speaker 4: I can't even tell you the amount of dragons.
- 1:10:59Speaker 3: That are it it really, I mean, it's awesome.
- 1:11:03Speaker 4: It's several several hundred.
- 1:11:07Speaker 3: Wow, that's pretty wild.
- 1:11:09Speaker 4: It's like they all have like a picture and like
- 1:11:12Speaker 4: it just everything about it is like, good God.
- 1:11:15Speaker 3: I should probably do a how to Train your Dragon
- 1:11:18Speaker 3: session sometime and write it up.
