- Micaiah: Welcome back, everybody. Fourth and one podcast. Captain Boring, your host here, alongside my man Robert. We are recording this Tuesday, June 9th, 2026. It is a day after the breaking news that has since shocked not only clouds football world, but also kind of shocked, I would say, ⁓ at least. National news in the fact that Brendan Sworesby, a gr a judge, has granted Brendan Swaresby an injunction against the NCAA, allowing him to play this season after serving a two games suspension. This news is shocking not only to myself, to Robert. Robert, I would just wanna start right off the bat 'cause I forgot to pull one thing up. I didn't really get your overall thoughts on this. ⁓ we never really talked about it. I'm gonna guess I know what they are, but why don't you wha what are your overall thoughts about this decision? Roberto Con Queso: I understand why a judge who has nothing to do with college football or the integrity of sports would say he's doing nothing wrong in the state of Texas because someone's gotta get reelected for their position. But it's kind it is the wrong thing for college football because and we're already seeing it where Georgia and Nebraska have already said that they're banning Texas from playing Texas Tech. in all their sports. I don't know why they did all their sports, they should have just left it at football. But then you have conferences, meeting and saying, you know, about not playing Texas Tech because who is to say that not every game this guy is involved in is not gonna have something kind of screwy with it. There he goes, ladies and gentlemen, he's gone Elgato, no signal. I can hear you though. ⁓ it's kind of disappointing too, just because you know, we always give the NCAA a lot of flack about every decision that they make since their inception. But it's becoming more and more frequent that the NCAA is trying to do the right thing, but the kids are just Micaiah: Can you hear me? I'm still here. All right. Ridiculous. Roberto Con Queso: crying and running to the judges and the judges are overruling everything. So the NCA at some point is just gonna be like, forget it. You're on your own And so it's not the NCAA's not really destroying college football. It's the kids go figure are the ones who are killing college football. Yeah. Captain Boring just leaving me out here to dry. Sometimes you just have to wonder and think to yourself, Am I really meant for this this line of work? Cause you never know. You never know. Cause you know, it's not that we're getting paid to do this, we're doing this because we like to. But when you gotta fight with technology, AI, yourself, your computer, your keyboards, you just gotta think. Is all this just a little too much? You never know. brother, you got a to cut. Micaiah: I know. It was funny last week when I was editing the video, ⁓ like you know, you were like singing and you're just like, I really don't know what to do, and it but it like cut some of that, and so it was just like and then I just popped back in Yeah, so the the judge's official comments the court finds that Soresby has demonstrated that he will suffer a probable Roberto Con Queso: Ha ha Micaiah: innament and irreparable injury if this court does not issue this temporary injunction because he will be unable to participate as a member of Texas Tech University twenty twenty-six football team. I I just don't see how you're a judge and you're looking around and you're just like, yeah, no, he like he broke the rules, right? The Big Twelve is meeting. ⁓ Pete Thamble said about an hour ago I found on Instagram, ⁓ the Big Twelve is meeting tomorrow. The the executive board will meet tomorrow and then that will kind of proceed the first of three meetings. Apparently they're gonna see if he Like if they can't do what the Big Ten did and basically rule him ineligible or suspend him more ⁓ based on, you know, one of their one of the Big Twelves bylaws, which I think they gotta do that. Like the big tw i if if all the presidents and all the ADs and they had a phone and they had a phone call, all the ADs had a phone call today, if they're gonna bitch and whine and do all this, then you as a conference And who's ever, and I think it's Cade Yormack, I think that's his name, in charge of the Big 12 conference, then you have to take action. Wouldn't you think? Roberto Con Queso: Yeah, I mean let's never forget that John Harbaugh got suspended and crucified on a cross because he bought the damn kid a cheeseburger. Micaiah: Yeah, and a v yeah, yeah, you're right. Roberto Con Queso: Like, you know, you and even when you look at the fact that people aren't raising as much of a stink as they did when Michigan was under investigation, like this kid was actually now whether he did or didn't actually fix the games, it it's kind of but had the ability to had the ability to straight up manipulate the Micaiah: Up in the air. Right. Yeah. Roberto Con Queso: Way the game was. You know, granted it was Indiana, Indiana was really bad. But even at Cincinnati, and I actually watched the highlight, and it was somebody saying, You can't tell me this wasn't fixed, and it was I forget what they were playing West Virginia, and Cincinnati just got like mollywhopped by West Virginia. West Virginia was not good that year. But you know, it just every game from here on out is going to raise a lot of questions. Micaiah: Brett Brett Yormark is the commissioner of the Big Twelve, by the way. So sorry, but yeah, Brett, you gotta do something. I'm calling for you to do something. I think the integrity it does question, Robert, the integrity of of these games moving forward, right? Now, they said what I kind of found funny is they said that two of the bets, while he bet ⁓ was at Indiana, he was betting on Indiana, but only two were for Indiana to do poorly. And those were the years that Indiana just sucked. And I said, Okay, well, that's just easy money there because Indiana sucked. However, like if he was betting player props and he has inside information when he's sitting in that, you know, game plan room, if he's like, ⁓ yeah, this isn't gonna work, so I might as well just bet the under, right? Roberto Con Queso: Yeah. Yeah, if you're gonna if your the game plan is, hey, we're gonna throw the ball a little bit more this week, well then yeah, I'm gonna start putting some money on this quarterback's gonna start flipping the bean out there and taking the under for the rushing yards for the running back. Micaiah: Do you think that Do you hope that the Big Twelve does something? Roberto Con Queso: Yeah, yeah, I do. But then in the same sense, is it gonna mean anything? Because the damage essenti the damage essentially is already done. Cause now we're saying it doesn't matter what you do. You can gamble on college sports. Because you just have to go talk to a judge and a judge is like, Yeah, you're good. That's essentially the message that's out there. So every single person who has got in trouble for gambling in college sports, they essentially can turn around and start suing Micaiah: Eight mm, correct. Roberto Con Queso: whoever because hey if he if he can still play and really do and he gets suspended two games and it's gonna be the two slack jaw tea Abilene Christian, nothing against them, I'm sure they're a great school, but not a division one football program. And I don't know who they play week two, but it's not like it's ⁓ they're gonna play Texas and Georgia those two weeks where they need their starting quarterback. It's like it's yeah. Micaiah: Oregon State. Roberto Con Queso: Okay, like I said, two slack show programs. But like it's not like the damage is done. That was the opportunity for that for the judge to be like, listen, this is becoming an issue. This kid has an issue. He went to rehab, which is fine, good for him for seeking help, but that doesn't mean like it's not gonna happen again. Micaiah: You're right. That doesn't mean what he right, that that doesn't mean what he did wasn't wrong and he shouldn't have consequences for it, right? Roberto Con Queso: Yeah. And hopefully he doesn't. Hopefully he doesn't gamble on any of the games this year, like at all. Like that should be like his thing. And Texas Tech should make that a thing where it's like you don't even have a cell phone. You don't talk to anybody. You live in solitary confinement. You don't do anything. And like the every GM in the NFL's gotta be like, Yeah, we're not taking this kid. Because like it's the same scenario. Micaiah: Yeah. Yeah. ⁓ yeah, I mean there are there are yeah, there are way repercussions. I mean, Jameson Williams didn't even bet on NFL games, and I know I keep using him an example, but he's the most recent one. He didn't we wasn't even betting, he was just betting on other sports in an NFL facility and got six games. What do you think? Like like he would be his career would be over in the NFL. You said Harbaugh ⁓ th there was more uproar about Harbaugh. I feel like there was more uproar about Harbaugh because it was more 50-50, right? Half the people were just like, he advanced scouted, he bought the kid a cheeseburger, who cares? And then the other 50 were Ohio State fans, he broke the rule, right? In this, I feel like why people aren't in an uproar was one, we're just numb to the fact that these kids are just going to these local judges. These judges are granting injunctions. and two. Everyone knew that he should be suspended. And so when he wasn't, it's just like, okay, well, I guess that's happening now, right? It it there's it it really surprised me that a judge went this far to step in. I don't know that I have the balls to do that. I really do hope that the Big 12 comes out and been like, all right, well, you know what? He broke the rule. He he not only broke the rules, he broke the law. Cause he was underage gambling. You gotta be twenty one. So if he's on someone else's account, brother in law account, he was sending thousand tens of thousands of dollars to friends to p make wagers for him. Like that's breaking the law. The Big 12 should come out and be like, You broke the law, you broke the rules, sorry, you're gonna be suspended the season. Roberto Con Queso: Or even if l or even if the NCA just makes it very difficult for him. Which I don't then that might get into like the whole targeting thing, but you're just like well, the N now the NCAA should st go and be like, Well now since we can't get you on this, now you're actually in like level one and level two infractions and you have to sit out on top of the two games, but you have to sit out a an additional three Micaiah: ⁓ for it for the other stuff. Roberto Con Queso: But then all but then also right, but then also talk to the big twelve and say, Hey, if we're gonna do this for three, you do it for three also. That's three, six, at least eight games. Micaiah: Do you that is an option. Do you think ⁓ what was I gonna ask? Do you think The the the big ⁓ how the NCAA could get back and and and make it difficult and basically force Texas Tech to do something were to go after the program. You've been saying this forever that stop going after the kids because you're losing every time as you're seeing, but go after the school and go to Texas Tech and being like, if you play him, he has an injunction, but if you play him, he still broke the law. You're gonna you're gonna have to give us twenty five million dollars. It's a twenty five million dollar fund. Roberto Con Queso: ⁓ yeah, well that was with ⁓ when everything went Michigan. And I said, make it a five hundred million dollar fine, and Michigan just has to pay it. I was like, that hurts more. You could go, you know, if you say, ⁓ well, the national championship doesn't count. It kind of doesn't matter because the kids played the game, they lived through it, I watched the game, I recorded the game, you there's merchandise all over the place that says it. So it kinda doesn't matter. But if you step in and say, Okay, we're gonna hit you in the pocketbooks when NIL literally runs college football, like now Bryce Underwood's not getting paid what he's getting paid. He's gonna leave. Kids aren't gonna come here because they're not getting 'cause they have money going all over the places. They would just have to like make sure that it's coming from the academic or not academics, that's what you don't. you that it's coming from the sports side and not the academic side. You're not punishing them that way. Or how you said before it's a five hundred dollar five hundred million dollar fine, but that five hundred million has to be turned into something for the students academically with the college. But yeah, and especially schools in Texas, it's all money down there. Like Go after the college. Micaiah: Yeah, yeah, yeah. That that I think and this leads me into my next question. You answered this. I already asked you this question in the group chat, but I'm just gonna ask you it again here because I think it's a very interesting point. So through all of this in general, right, you said you blame the NCAA twenty-five percent, and I asked you for your real number, and that real number was what'd you say, like thirty-five? Thir thirty thirty-five forty percent. Because you said Roberto Con Queso: Thirty five or forty is one of those two. Micaiah: Everything it used to be the NCAA, and now it's now now the judges are getting involved, and so you're kind of taking responsibility away from them. And I get all that. My I would still be 60-40. It's the NCAA's fault only because they dug their heels in the sand for so long that they kind of caused a chain reaction in being so stern and stubborn about changing rules, NIL transfers, things like that, where they kind of started this cascade of the ability to run two local judges and get injunctions. And I still give them Majority of the blame ⁓ because I think that someone should have the foresight at the offices wherever they are and been like, instead of going after the kids, let's go after Michigan. Let's go after Texas Tech. Let's say you owe us $25 million. He may have got an injunction, but he we still found him wrong. He would have been suspended. The judge allows him to play, so you give us $25 million. Sorry. Like, And then let's see if the school then doesn't been like, hey, sorry, we can't chalk up this $25 million because we are trying to win a national championship and and start a dynasty, you know? Like I I I don't really know, and maybe someone smarter than me can explain it. Like, I don't know why this is so hard to grasp. And Charlie Baker is his solution to everything is run to Congress. And how many times is that gonna work? Maybe one? Roberto Con Queso: Yeah, well I mean you got Nick Saban out there talking to Congress now, so but I guess it's just Because they were so slow reacting on everything, like you said, to when now they're trying to act on it. And every time they try to act on it, they're trying to do the right thing. Like they continuously are trying to do the right thing, but then they get turned around, a judge says, Nope, you can't do that. And it's like, well, then where do we go? And that's that's why I'm saying that's why I'm starting to like say, All right, before, yeah. It was definitely the NCAA's fault. Too slow moving. They never adapted to where now it's they're trying to do the right thing. But now it's roadblock after roadblock after roadblock to eventually Yeah, you're gonna end up with, you know, another organization. It might be that like the Saudi L I V they did the Live Golf, where like an investment group like that could start a new Micaiah: Yeah, yeah. Roberto Con Queso: association, I guess, and like and like bring like just we'll just say the SEC and the Big Ten just because they're the two moneymakers, you know, and they take them over. And then they're making their own rules. You know, however the Congress wants to handle things, however these judges and then the worst part is it's varying state by state. Micaiah: Yeah, sure. Right. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Roberto Con Queso: So would this be the same scenario in well, we know it would be in Georgia. There's no Georgia player that's ever going to jail for literally anything. So but like it, you know, if it's right, if it's like, you know, Virginia, you know, what would the ⁓ the a quarterback transferring into the state of Virginia, because Virginia might be a little more stricter on things and they're like, Yeah, no, you're you can't play. Micaiah: Yeah, if they're not going to jail for speeding, they're not gonna go any yeah. Right. Roberto Con Queso: But Texas is like, Yeah, go for it. You can play. Micaiah: I'm Debating like what to suggest as next steps, but I still think that there's gotta be someone in the office of the NCAA to at least go up to Charlie Baker and be like, what we're doing isn't working. Let's literally try everything else. And I know that they're trying, and they are trying to do the right thing, but they're just They it's like they have one pitch and it's 101 mile an hour fastball. And if they're not painting the corner with it, it's getting hit out of the park every single time. So the someone needs to go to that office and be like, let's develop a little bit of a curveball or a slider or a changeup, you know, just something to to to withhold. not withhold, but like ⁓ to to bring on the punishment and keep the punishment from being overturned by these judges. Now there is one easy answer, and that is to make the kids employees, right? If you have an employee contract, then you can say, well, judge it doesn't matter. His injunction ruling, you can't go run into a judge because our rules state that you are not allowed to gamble. Now How do you do collective bargaining at that point in time? I don't know. That's for much smarter people than me. Roberto Con Queso: I feel like that would be such a nightmare because then you'd have to have like the it might be because you essentially would have your NCAA, which is your parent company, and then would each institution would have to be their own company company and then those players Micaiah: It we it would be a nightmare, but is it less of a nightmare than this? Roberto Con Queso: would be employees of that the N S well, they would be an employee of how kinda like us. Like we are employees of MPSE, which is essentially a ⁓ the s sister company, I guess, of OAL. You're right. And it so it'd be like an umbrella and umbrella umbrella, you know. So Micaiah: The NCAA the NCAA. Right. Yeah. What whatever, right, yeah. Under the umbrella. Right, right. Yeah. Roberto Con Queso: I it c I guess it could work, but then you again you'd you would have to make so many things standardize across college football that you would have to almost like so you're paying your players, but then you'd have to turn around and make sure that the tax is almost the same for each player in the state. Micaiah: Well ne well right. Right, right. I mean the this right. The the simplest solution is you look to the NFL, right? You have all the teams under the umbrella of the NFL, and then the players are contracted to the team, but technically they play under NFL rule. It would be on paper, set up the same way. The these players have contract with these colleges. That's something that's happening right now. We're halfway there. And then these teams are under the ⁓ the NCAA umbrella. However, the NCAA doesn't recognize that the players who have contracts, again halfway there, are employees because they're quote student athletes. And there's a host of reason why they want to keep them student athletes. And I'm sure lawsuits have a lot to do with it in terms of being injured, workmen's comp, kind of down the road, and all that. And I fully understand that. But You gotta you can't keep letting local district judges run your sport. Because now a judge in Lubbock's gonna run has run the 2026 season. A judge in Alabama might run the 2027 season. Ohio might run the 28 season. Right, like the big storylines. And now every team that plays Texas Tech, if Brandon Sorsby throws a And I I I saw something similar to what you saw, like a meme highlight of you telling me that this is the guy who everyone's getting worked up over. And he's throwing these interceptions that are just like to the wrong, like wide open to the wrong team, right? But say he does he say he comes back against Houston. First snap, he throws a ball right over the middle and it right into the linebacker's lap. The internet's gonna go wild with this. Roberto Con Queso: Right. ⁓ exp and especially if it's in a crucial time when in you know, say they're playing Utah. Wait, who's he going to? Texas Tech. Yeah, Utah's fine. And we'll just say that Utah is the underdog. And it's like, ⁓ okay, so if he bets on Utah to win this game, he's gonna make more money. And he throws an interception in a crucial time that the ball should have never been there in the first place. And the and Texas Tech loses. I mean, you're gonna lose the locker room too, because obviously the coaches, the players are gonna be like, dude, what's going on? But now you're gonna have Vegas call. Micaiah: Right. I Roberto Con Queso: And that listen, you can mess with Congress, you can mess with the state of Texas. One thing you don't do, you don't mess with Vegas. Micaiah: No, you do not mess with Vegas. You like these hypothetical games, so let me play one with you, right? You are a hypothetical parent of a five-star athlete, and Texas Tech comes calling, right? You go on visits, you have it down to a few schools, and you're and this drops, this decision drops. How do you not look at Joey Maguire head coach and been like, Roberto Con Queso: Yeah. Micaiah: Come on, dude. Like, if if nothing else, then okay, you didn't know when he transferred in, you know now, and you're still gonna play him? Roberto Con Queso: Yeah, c yeah. Micaiah: Or or do parents not care? Roberto Con Queso: I want to say as a par as a I would say as a parent it's 50-50. Because obviously as a parent, you're gonna try and put your child in the best case scenario to succeed. But then also you're gonna let you're gonna let the kid choose. You're gonna let them choose. If you really want to go here, that's fine, but let me tell you why I don't think this is the right fit. And then you can bring the whole care like judging the coach's character by making these decisions. And the college's morals and everything you can call into question then. But it's kind of like a fifty-fifty, more leaning towards sixty-forty, because essentially the kid's the one that chooses. The parents, you can voice your opinion, you can say yes or no, maybe. But if you're a five star, you're getting a full ride anyways, and you're getting N I L. So as the kid, you're just like, I don't really care what the character of the coach is. Micaiah: Well, and I guess the coach, mo Joey Maguire, he's gonna be judged on one thing wins, right? That's all he's judged on. So if he and his livelihood depends on that. So the argument I guess for that, and I'm plain devil's advocate with myself, is if a parent comes to you and says, Why are you gonna let him play? J and Maguire can look right back at that parent and be like, because I have my own family I have to take care of. I have a responsibility to put food on the table. And if I don't win football games, I'm out the door. Because Texas Tech's not going to spend all this money, not only on Sworesby, but on the entire roster and keep settling for first round exits of the college football playoff. Right. Roberto Con Queso: Right. Yeah. Right, yeah. No, yeah, you're right. It and that's why I think it's almost like a It's you're just kind of you're you're living on a double edged sword where it's like, you know, as a parent, you gotta do what you gotta do and as the coach, you know, you gotta do what you gotta do as well. There you know, th there's the big saying's always there's no moral victories. You know, you can make yourself feel good, but when when the people sign in your checks don't like it You know, it doesn't really matter how you feel. Micaiah: You played the beta of college football 27, right? Alright. ⁓ I'm hearing it's a lie. Roberto Con Queso: Yeah, yeah. Yeah, ⁓ you c you kind of feel like the NCAA, you know, there's a lot going on, there's a lot on the screen. EA did they did a good job really making something simple super complex. ⁓ this year they added the NIL feature, which is stupid, in my opinion. ⁓ I get it's a Micaiah: Yeah. Roberto Con Queso: very prevalent part of today's college football, but I don't really need it in a video game. ⁓ but they they added a lot of like cooler things too. They actually gave you the opportunity to if you want to change the atmosphere of your game, if you want to stripe out or a solid color for your fans to wear, that was nice. They ⁓ gave like Your AD now has expectations for you because I I think by Michigan's was beat Ohio State obvious. ⁓ you had to win win all your conference games, which I was like, okay. And then the last one, which was a new feature, was you have to keep your stadiums ⁓ facilities Micaiah: Naturally, right, right. Facilities. Roberto Con Queso: ⁓ at a national contender level. So you said you just had to keep like your facil I'll just say level five, because that'll be national. And then you have to keep them there and maintain them. And if you don't, then your like job security comes down. So they added things every like what every good thing they added, they kind of added something just not as good. So it should be an exciting year for gamers. Micaiah: I I do I do like that you can upgrade your facilities and put money into that. Cause it would always bother me if, say, you went to Appalachian State, right? And you build a national powerhouse and you won five string national champion, but your facilities were still C plus. Like that's just not right. So so now you'll be able to get more NIL money and I guess throw it into facilities. So I like that aspect. I don't like Roberto Con Queso: Right, yeah. Micaiah: From what you've told me about the recruiting, they've made it a little more complicated. They've made gameplay a little more complicated. To me, it was we are tired of hearing everyone whine about things. So here, just have it all and now go figure it out. Roberto Con Queso: It w it's almost like When the NCAA switched over to NIL. When it was, here, take it, go. And we will deal with it later and we'll deal with we'll fine tune it later. And it it kinda is. Like we they literally added every feature into the game that I think every single person was complaining about. They added like the mascot game so you can play the games as mascots. I don't understand why that was such a like that's yeah, the five year olds that play the game. Micaiah: Yeah, yeah. Yeah. I I didn't want that, yeah. Roberto Con Queso: Yeah, sure. They're the ones that were like, I want to play as Sparty and go against w was zi Yeah, the tree from Stanford. And it was like, yeah, no one really cares for that. It would honestly be nice if they would just add the pictures of the actual players in the game. You're paying them. Like, just do it. That always kind of bothered me. But you know, kudos to EA for sticking to Micaiah: The tree. Roberto Con Queso: trying to give us the best experience possible. And ⁓ I wonder if they still have the same deal as they did last year with Micaiah: With the players. Roberto Con Queso: Nah, the teams. It was the teams that like got more played with, they got more money. 'Cause North Dakota's North Dakota State's about to get buckets of cash. Micaiah: the most yeah, more played with got more. Yeah. I mean Texas State, I think, got a ⁓ yeah. ⁓ yeah. Yeah. North Dakota State's about to make a lot of money. I think Missouri State made like over a million dollars because they were played with a lot. So yeah, I I hope so. ⁓ I I'm very excited. I'm taking a break from that. ⁓ and I I'll play it when it comes out in July here in about a month. ⁓ I'm enjoying ⁓ Spider-Man. I'm a little behind. ⁓ I found a new handheld ⁓ ⁓ like an Xbox handheld basically, and I downloaded Spider-Man and it has Steam on it. So I'm just I'm just crushing, crushing dude's skull, throwing dudes off top of skyscrapers. But don't worry, I'm not killing them. At least that's how these games work. it's it's the abrupt stop at the bottom, right? ⁓ all right, so the next segment that I want to talk about, and I want to preference it. Roberto Con Queso: Proud of you, buddy. Marvel doesn't kill people. Yeah. Micaiah: Because I'm kind of cleaning up our doc here. And I had to laugh. So the segment I want to play is what teams are sleepers to have above expectations seasons. And I want to preface this by saying: predicting college football is hard. And I'll give you examples. Being fans of college football is easy and seeding. Patterns within college football is easy. However, predictions before the season start is hard. And this is why. So last year we did. are all fourth and one team and we had like two hits, right? We had Jeremiah Smith and and someone else. ⁓ and Sours, the the tight end. Here's where our super relative. So we hit best uni, which was the Army Navy game unis. Okay. We we got that right off the bat. Best offense best offense was Western Kentucky. They had a pretty good offense. I had SMU, not nearly right. Best defense Roberto Con Queso: hours. Yeah. ⁓ Yeah. Micaiah: We were both very wrong. Clemson and Penn State. Nope. Best head coach, Kirby Smart. And then I said Brian Kelly. Brian Kelly was the Jimbo Fisher ward for most likely getting fired by week six. ⁓ speaking of of Jim of Jim Fisher ward for most likely to get fired by week six. Roberto Con Queso: Yes. Micaiah: You had Luke Fickle, probably should have been fired, but is given another season. And then Hugh Freeze actually did get fired. So we did get that one right. Biggest disappointment. Rob, you hit the nail on the head. Arch Manning. You got that one right. Roberto Con Queso: Let's go Who would have guessed? Micaiah: We were both right. I had James Franklin. Roberto Con Queso: Yeah, dude. We know ball. We know ball right there. Not all the time, but we know it. Micaiah: We no ball. Except in except in the most improved category, you had Florida State, and I had Michigan's passing game. ⁓ I mean Michigan's passing game was improved based on 2024 results, just not by a lot. Roberto Con Queso: Florida State was not improved. Micaiah: They were not biggest impact players. I had Ryan Williams, very wrong. You had Jordan Tyson, not completely fair to you, hampered with injuries last year. Heisman, this is where I'm chuckling. You had Jeremiah Smith, not a bad take. Best player in college football, in my opinion. I had Kay Klubnik. Roberto Con Queso: That happens. I was gonna say, who did you take? ⁓ man, that's a tough one there. Could have been worse. You could have said Drew Aller. Micaiah: I i is Kate Klublick still on Clemson? Is he gonna be Clemson's quarterback? Or did he graduate? Roberto Con Queso: No, he went to the NFL. Micaiah: Okay. That's how bad Clemson was last season. Best coordinator you had Jim Knowles. Roberto Con Queso: I think so. ⁓ yeah, because I thought Penn State's defense was gonna be stellar, which they were for like three weeks. Micaiah: Yeah. I had Chip Lindsey. no, Chip Lindsey left at the end of the season. There were some ⁓ reasons for that. Most overhyped player. I had Bryce Underwood. Not terrible, right? ⁓ and you had Arch Manning. Roberto Con Queso: Yeah, that still still fits. Micaiah: Nailed it there. Highest scoring game, LSU Clemson was week one. That was like a 13 to 10 game. So wrong there. And then LSU Old Miss. Again, I I don't think that was the highest scoring game last season. Lowest scoring game, Bama LSU. I was at that game. ⁓ it was like a mid-scoring game. It was like 27-13. And Penn State, Ohio State, again, this was right after Franklin got fired, and Drew Aller was out and all that. So ⁓ Penn State just or Penn State got roughed up, Ohio State roughed him up. And then biggest surprise team, the good, you had Illinois, and I had Duke. Duke won the ACC, I guess. Okay. All right. And I'll give you not not Illinois. They were fine. They won eight games last year. All right. So all that is to say that ⁓ Roberto Con Queso: I would say I'd give you a Dick, yeah, that was a yeah. Micaiah: ⁓ I'm trying to backspace here and I can't talk and do this at the same time. Okay, all that is to say that predicting is hard. However, we're going to try to predict what sleeper, what teams sleeper. I'm going to just take mine roughly off of ⁓ over under wind totals off of Fanduel. Right. Do you have a team in mind? Or do you want me to start? Roberto Con Queso: ⁓ the I so the way I looked at expectation wise was I didn't necessarily look at wins or losses. I was kind of thinking about how they were last year comparing them to this year. So mine that would be a technical sleeper, it you could look at them and say they're not a sleeper, but I I'm gonna say they are. I'm gonna say North Dakota State. And and I'm gonna say Micaiah: Okay. Yeah, that's fair. Okay. Roberto Con Queso: say them just because the expectation for them I think is kind of mixed because you know we know how dominant they were in the FCS first year in the FB in ⁓ FBS. I don't think anyone is expecting them to just run the table when I think they probably could, especially in the Mountain West. ⁓ but their expectation is also not that they're going to like go undefeated. Micaiah: Over under wind total, a little shocking here for me at least. Eight and half. So would you say that they're gonna make nine games? Roberto Con Queso: I would have to sit I would have to look at their schedule and try and figure out I it's g it would I bet you it would be close. They it it's probably going to be an eight nine. ⁓ I would probably more lean towards the eight. Micaiah: Okay. Yeah. I hope they're eligible right away for postseason. I hope that the NCAA Roberto Con Queso: Yeah, I don't know I don't know if they solve that rule or not. Micaiah: I'm going to go with Michigan State. Pat Fitzgerald there, bunch of new money coming in. They're over under win totals three and a half. Roberto Con Queso: really assuming that they're gonna just gonna be bad. Is Aiden Childs still their quarterback? Micaiah: Maybe I don't fully I I I don't fully remember Toledo, Eastern Michigan. So let me do it this way. The following teams I think they have as much talent at to have or more. Right? So Toledo, Eastern Michigan, Wisconsin, Northwestern, UCLA. Roberto Con Queso: I don't know how Micaiah: We're looking at six or seven games right there that in my mind the way Fitzgerald coaches his teams, they're just gonna be com they're gonna be competitive. And you can't tell me that there aren't five four wins in there. Well, it was three and a half, right? Yeah, three and a half. You can't tell me that there aren't four wins in there. Unless if they go go out and drop the first one to Toledo. I mean, they're no snoozer. Roberto Con Queso: Yeah. Yeah. I I would assume I would assume that Michigan State's gonna finish more than three and a half. ⁓ just I feel like Pat Fitzgerald automatically gets you four. I mean he he at least had he had Northwestern not powerhouses, but they were physical every time you played them. And like it was it was a game. Now obviously Micaiah: Right. Roberto Con Queso: When Ohio State would roll in. Talent was just better than what hard work was. But I think right off the rip he's gonna get you four. You should win your non conference games because no one schedules hard non conference games in the Big Ten or the SEC really. Except for except for like four teams. So Micaiah: Right, right. ⁓ Alessio ⁓ Milajovic. He took over for Aiden Chiles last year. He completed 1200 passing yards, 10 touchdowns, three interceptions. They also have Cam Frencher, a six-year transfer coming from UCF. And then Cade Kaufman, a highly touted four-star. So, I mean, if they go with the guy who has experience, like, yeah, I I your comment. Pat Fitzgerald is like an automatic four. Like if he did it with Northwestern all those years, you can't tell me that now he has talent. ⁓ that Michigan State doesn't have some talent on the roster, right? what else you got? You got anybody else? Roberto Con Queso: I so the expectation for Penn State I believe that they're like pegged to ten wins. I think they could be the sleeper in the big ten because it's a first year like the first year head coach. You got essentially like everything new kind of. Micaiah: Right. Roberto Con Queso: I would say they would be a sleeper because obviously you're gonna sit here and say, Ohio State's your top dog. Makes sense. Oregon's probably your number two. Three through five is kinda iffy. I'm sure you'd put USC in there, which USC could very well be a sleeper as well. ⁓ you know, Michigan's gonna be in the in the fight too. I would say Penn State's probably within that three to five range. So Micaiah: Yeah, for sure. Yeah, yeah. Roberto Con Queso: The expectation is not that not that they're gonna win the Big Ten 'cause it's always going to be Ohio State is the expectation. So I mean they could. It their schedule's very light. Micaiah: It it the thing with a lot in this day and age in college football, when you come because of transfer portal, you're gonna bring all your guys with you. And that's what Matt Campbell did. He he's bringing Rocco back to Nala and all of that. My worry with Penn State is my same worry with Iowa State and Matt Campbell, is that they just inherently, for whatever reason, drop one early in the season. And it's different if you drop one early in the season when you're Penn State than you are Iowa State. Not saying Matt Campbell can't h can't deal with it, but now these players that he's bringing from Iowa State, that the expectations were v much different. They were happy with eight, nine wins a year. You drop one early, the sky's gonna be falling in Happy Valley really, really fast. But I I I don't hate that. The Vandals got him over under at eight and a half. ⁓ and I definitely ⁓ don't hate that. I I think a s this is hard to say a sleeper team, but with the way the defense played at the end of the season, and if John Matir stays healthy the whole season, FanDuel has them at over under seven and a half wins. I think Oklahoma's at least eight, not if not nine, ten wins. I I I get it, the schedule's hard, but Brent Venables is the best defensive play caller. At least last year he finished the best defensive play caller in all of college football. Am I right in that assessment or am I? Or am I just crazy? 'Cause I they were hot they were so hot at the end of the season. Roberto Con Queso: Well, first off, buddy, yes, you are crazy. However, not not for the pick. Not about that. No, yeah. ⁓ Oklahoma I would say Oklahoma was a sleeper last year. And then kind of I mean they took off. Like for a while there it was like, ⁓ Oklahoma's really, you know, turning into something. And yeah, I I could see them as a sleeper this year, you know. As much as you want to sit there and say the SEC's pretty wide open. Micaiah: ⁓ not about this. Yeah. Roberto Con Queso: In theory it is. Obama's not no big dog no more. Georgia's kind of lacking. You know, Texas, Arch Manning, maybe. Maybe Arch Manning has a good year this year. We don't know. But yeah, I mean, and Venable. We saw it at Clemson on how good of a defensive coach he was now. And as long as he doesn't have to worry about coaching the offense at Oklahoma and can focus on Micaiah: As as the people on TikTok found out. Roberto Con Queso: Helping with the defense while being the head coach. Yeah, Oklahoma can very well put eight, nine, ten would be a ceiling, I would assume, for them. Micaiah: Another team I have I'm gonna roll with Clemson. They got seven and a half on FanDuel. I think that they're a sleeper because Clemson for the first time in a decade. Underdogs, right? They they can finally play with a little bit of that bark and a little bit of that bite. And I feel like Dabbo's a little pissed off at the NCAA and pissed off at the world and just pissed off in general. They're utilizing transfer portal. I I don't know. I and and maybe this is silly of me, but I just feel like like Clemson just can't fade into non existence. I I mean maybe they it maybe they can, right? But I I don't know. Like I I just feel like Clemson Dabbo's like eight and four. That's what Clemson should be. Like I I don't know. I I I'm refusing what I'm saying is I'm refusing to accept that Clemson is just going to go from a national powerhouse dynasty and just going to fade to six and six. Roberto Con Queso: Yeah, it would it would be very hard to see that. I you know just 'cause they have they have the culture there. We've always been big on culture. Culture, culture, culture. You need a head you need a head coach there longer than two years to build culture. Kids come for the culture, they come for the atmosphere and everything. I Micaiah: Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah. Which I which they do. Roberto Con Queso: Yeah, I mean Dava's a good coach. I think he needs to broaden his horizons a little bit with the transfer portal, and then I mean, then when he goes and does get in the transfer portal, players get poached. I don't want to say it's true or not. We don't really know. But yeah, I mean and I don't th and if Clemson falls back into that six and six area, that is the most detrimental thing for the ACC. Micaiah: Yeah. Yeah. Roberto Con Queso: 'Cause the only other sleeper pick that I could possibly have for the ACC is probably Virginia Tech. Micaiah: ⁓ sure, with ⁓ Franklin, yeah. Six and a half. Roberto Con Queso: And that and with Franklin, yeah, I mean you know, Penn State was always reasonable. They were always competitive, it didn't matter the kind of who you were playing. It was not necessarily a close game, but it was they they played football, big ten football. If he can do that at Virginia Tech, Virginia Tech would probably go eight, nine, ten as a ceiling. Like throughout, and I mean, and that's that's major for them. You make Virginia Tech halfway competitive in the AC at a time when the playoff field is eventually gonna be strung out to a hundred and sixty four. I mean Micaiah: Yeah. They're gonna have more teams than the than the basketball tournament themselves. ⁓ another one for me. ⁓ they have Oklahoma State at five and a half wins. I think Oklahoma State's a bull team. However, the one I'm really banking on is Rich Rod in year two getting this program. Roberto Con Queso: You never know. Yeah. Micaiah: I I I don't know. I I just feel like In college football, some th some things feels like they're just meant to be a certain way. And I feel like that's Richrod at West Virginia running tempo offense, going up and down the field trying to score a million points. Roberto Con Queso: Yeah, it it would be it would be nice to see West Virginia 'cause West Virginia the last time I remember West Virginia being good, Pat White. You know what I mean? That was Is he I mean it's about time. Micaiah: Yeah. J he's gonna get his jersey retired. Yeah. Yeah, I I know. That's what McAfee was saying. Roberto Con Queso: Yeah, 'cause it's not like they've been good since then. But when they were good, it was like a breath of fresh air. Granted the Big East was there at that point. But you know, putting them in the Big Twelve, it kind of brings a little more Variety. Like Texas Tech, Texas Tech making it this year. That was new. It was fresh. It was great. If you start getting these other schools going and putting them in, you know, your West Virginia is maybe even pit, and then you actually have a really good rivalry game. I it's kind of the best thing for college football at this point. Micaiah: Any other teams you would like to add to your ⁓ sle to your sleeper teams? Roberto Con Queso: Let's go with My last sleeper team The ultimate dark horse. There's only one. They're black and they're gold. And they got a big drum. That's Purdue. Well ⁓ Micaiah: I I was trying to like end it. I was just like, you know what? We'll just end it there. That that's like fair enough. And then it wouldn't let me end it. So I had to reload the page. Roberto Con Queso: I I as soon as I I hit chat and it says just say goodbye to everyone, I'm like, all right, goodbye everyone. But ⁓ before we do leave, I do have to say it's a belated happy birthday to my fiance Heather last Saturday. So I told her I would say that. Micaiah: Ha ha ha. Shout shout out Heather. yes. Well ⁓ she's always contributing on Facebook. She's always liking our posts. So shout out to Heather. ⁓ Yeah, she is. She yeah, she's liking our stuff, you know, she's commenting. Yeah, yeah, yeah. She she's definitely invested. Roberto Con Queso: ⁓ is she? Good for her. I didn't know that. Nice. I know she listens because she always asks me questions about it. So yeah. Micaiah: ⁓ okay. Hey, you know, that's not too that's not a bad thing to have. Someone to appreciate your hobbies. Yeah. so I I think this is where we'll cut it, everybody. ⁓ thank you for being here. forget don't forget to like, subscribe, and share, follow us on all the socials. We got some exciting things coming for this upcoming season. We have a sort of sponsor. Roberto Con Queso: Yep. Yep. Micaiah: So yeah, Simeon's ⁓ Simeon's working his networking. So I don't know, Simeon's doing some things, and that's all he told me. So we'll have to see what comes of that. ⁓ don't forget to wash your hands, you filthy animals. Please vaccinate your kids against measles and polio. We did this already. We we we beat it. We beat it. We don't need to keep fighting fights that we already beat. Okay. ⁓ that's my PSA. ⁓ hate me if you want to, but Roberto Con Queso: He Micaiah: You're not allowed to because you are inherently wrong on your opinion if you do not vaccinate your kids against the measles. There's no exception. There's no rule. Feel free to come at us. Until next time, every call. Roberto Con Queso: Come at us, bro. If you have a gambling problem, one-eight hundred gambling, please don't bet on college football games if you play college football. Whether it's a video game, whether you're the quarterback for Indiana or Cincinnati, don't do it. Don't go to a judge and cry about it. Seek help. Micaiah: Just just don't do it. Seek how I really thought that you were gonna say call if you have a gambling problem call 1-800 measles. I don't know why I thought you were gonna say that, but that's just where my mind went. Call 1-800 get measles. ⁓ no, don't get measles. Vaccinate and don't and call 1-800 gambler. How about that? Vaccinate and call 1-800 gambler. Pod title. Until next time, everyone, watching Antropility Animals. Bye-bye. Roberto Con Queso: Yeah. No. I I don't know why
