- 0:01Hello. Welcome to the No God Coach
- 0:03Huddle for May 16, 2025. Your two-minute
- 0:07play of the day for applying God's word
- 0:09in your life. So, let's huddle up and
- 0:11hear today's play from Acts 17, which
- 0:14says, "As was his custom, Paul went into
- 0:16the synagogue, and on three Sabbath
- 0:19days, he reasoned with them from the
- 0:20scriptures, explaining and proving that
- 0:23the Messiah had to suffer and rise from
- 0:25the dead. This Jesus I am proclaiming to
- 0:28you is the Messiah. He said now the
- 0:30Berean Jews were of more noble character
- 0:33than those in Thessalonica. For they
- 0:35received the message with great
- 0:36eagerness and examined the scriptures to
- 0:39every day to see if what Paul said was
- 0:41true. For as I walked around and looked
- 0:43carefully at your objects of worship, I
- 0:46even found an altar with this
- 0:48inscription to an unknown God. So you
- 0:51are ignorant of the very thing you
- 0:53worship. And this is what I am going to
- 0:54proclaim to you. For he has set a day
- 0:57when he will judge the world with
- 0:59justice by the man he has appointed. And
- 1:01he has given proof of this to everyone
- 1:03by raising him from the
- 1:06dead. Paul had different approaches to
- 1:08evangelism that we should consider as we
- 1:11also are required by the great
- 1:13commission which is our mission to share
- 1:16the gospel with others. To those who had
- 1:18a biblical basis for their belief in God
- 1:20but didn't understand the scriptures,
- 1:23Paul argued for salvation through Christ
- 1:25as the pro promised Messiah by God who
- 1:28is predicted in those scriptures. For
- 1:31those who were ignorant entirely of the
- 1:32scriptures but were God worshippers,
- 1:35Paul argued for the proof of the one
- 1:36true God in Jesus by virtue of his
- 1:39creation and resurrection. Those who
- 1:42responded well and knew of the
- 1:44scriptures searched those scriptures for
- 1:46understanding and came to believe. Those
- 1:49ignorant of the scriptures were
- 1:50persuaded by the gospel message of God's
- 1:53work in the world and the Holy Spirit
- 1:55who convicts of judgment to come. People
- 1:58in America are ignorant of the
- 2:00scriptures for the most part but are
- 2:02still influenced in their belief about
- 2:03God by cultural Christianity. Sharing
- 2:06Jesus in Latin America where there is a
- 2:08great Catholic influence would also be
- 2:11effective by using the scriptures as it
- 2:13would be in America. In Asia and still
- 2:16much of Africa, the work of God through
- 2:18Jesus must be explained, emphasizing the
- 2:21resurrection of the dead, which is an
- 2:23arguably historical event. In all cases,
- 2:26the Holy Spirit must convict a person of
- 2:28their sin, God's righteousness in
- 2:30Christ, and a judgment to come where we
- 2:32will be held accountable to God's
- 2:35standard in Christ or pardoned by God's
- 2:37work through Christ. Jesus lived the
- 2:40life we are all to live. The perfect
- 2:42life Jesus lived is impossible for any
- 2:45of us to live. The consequence of
- 2:47failure is condemnation unless we repent
- 2:50and receive forgiveness for our sins and
- 2:53appropriation of his righteousness. For
- 2:56all humanity, people need to know this
- 2:58situation.
