- 0:00Speaker 1: This is Football at four. Hurts gives it off, no fakes,
- 0:05Speaker 1: He fires complate touchdown Dallas Cotter the second of the game.
- 0:10Speaker 2: Great play call. So this play has multiple options. He
- 0:15Speaker 2: gives the dive. It's play action. He puts it in
- 0:18Speaker 2: the belly of the running back. No, I don't want
- 0:20Speaker 2: you to have it. He pulls it out. He has
- 0:22Speaker 2: the option to keep a town to Dallas Goddard.
- 0:25Speaker 1: There you go, Football four powered by the Inside of
- 0:27Speaker 1: the Birds Podcast. That's Merril Reese on the call on
- 0:31Speaker 1: the Dallas Goddard touchdown reception. He had two in the game,
- 0:35Speaker 1: and both of them pretty well drawn up. There. Football
- 0:38Speaker 1: at four powered by the Inside the Birds Podcast. It's
- 0:40Speaker 1: brought to you by the Fanatic Sportsbook right here at
- 0:44Speaker 1: Ocean Casino Resort in Atlantic City at Jeff Mosher from
- 0:46Speaker 1: the Inside the Birds podcast and Phillyvoice dot Com is
- 0:51Speaker 1: back for a Monday edition of Football at four thirty
- 0:54Speaker 1: eight to twenty. You know, probably most the most fluid
- 0:57Speaker 1: the offense has looked all season, and it happens come
- 1:00Speaker 1: with no Aj Brown. They had a little bit of
- 1:02Speaker 1: something going everywhere. They had two running backs going, not
- 1:05Speaker 1: just one. They didn't just get Saquon going. They got
- 1:07Speaker 1: two guys going. They threw it all over the yard.
- 1:10Speaker 1: DeVante Smith heavily involved. They had some creative play calls.
- 1:14Speaker 1: It looked like there was a rhythm and a reason.
- 1:17Speaker 1: Probably the best overall performance offensively of the season.
- 1:21Speaker 3: Oh, without a doubt. It was the best overall performance
- 1:24Speaker 3: of the season. And I think what it showed you
- 1:27Speaker 3: and everybody really was And I was asked about this
- 1:30Speaker 3: a lot you saw were you you know, was it
- 1:32Speaker 3: Sekwon Barkley, Saquon Barkley doing something wrong?
- 1:35Speaker 2: It Saquon Barkley not the same guys he heard? Is
- 1:38Speaker 2: he that? Well?
- 1:40Speaker 3: No, you could see when you execute blocks like the
- 1:43Speaker 3: Eagles did that, it's not just Saquon Barkley who benefited,
- 1:47Speaker 3: but so did Tank Bigsby. I mean, you saw the holes.
- 1:49Speaker 3: You saw these guys run through them. You saw both
- 1:52Speaker 3: of them be able to do what they do best,
- 1:54Speaker 3: which is Saquon getting to the second level and then
- 1:56Speaker 3: putting the jets on.
- 1:58Speaker 2: Big b is a hard, powerful runner.
- 2:01Speaker 3: You saw him breaking tackles and making contact and dragging guys.
- 2:04Speaker 3: And so to me, it's never been about the running back.
- 2:07Speaker 3: It's always been about the offensive line and the offensive scheme.
- 2:10Speaker 1: Yeah, so the big run early in the game, that
- 2:12Speaker 1: kind of sets the tone because they break that one
- 2:14Speaker 1: off and then it felt like after that the offensive
- 2:16Speaker 1: line just started to get some confidence of like, all right,
- 2:19Speaker 1: now we're having some fun, and they just kind of
- 2:21Speaker 1: worked off that. But this looked more like the offense
- 2:23Speaker 1: from last year where they got the big run and
- 2:26Speaker 1: then they were able to work off of it. But
- 2:28Speaker 1: what did you take from the passing game and did
- 2:30Speaker 1: it look different? Did it feel different the passing game?
- 2:33Speaker 1: They only threw the ball twenty times, but it seemed
- 2:35Speaker 1: like guys were open. There was like, you know, guys
- 2:40Speaker 1: kind of running free in the you know, in the
- 2:42Speaker 1: passing game yesterday.
- 2:44Speaker 3: So the Giants typically play a dime defense. That's where
- 2:48Speaker 3: they've played some of their best defense this year. They
- 2:50Speaker 3: haven't played great defense, but that's what they do when
- 2:53Speaker 3: they get you in a passing yet excuse me, but
- 2:56Speaker 3: they were out pulsing the Debo and Javon Holland two
- 3:00Speaker 3: really important players in their secondary, so that forced them
- 3:03Speaker 3: to have to play different packages that they weren't used to.
- 3:06Speaker 3: And then Cordell Flott, who was an outside corner who's
- 3:09Speaker 3: normally not a starter, had to come out of the game.
- 3:13Speaker 3: I'm sorry, he is a start, but he had to
- 3:14Speaker 3: come out of the game. Deontay Banks had to start.
- 3:16Speaker 3: Float came out of the game with an injury. So
- 3:18Speaker 3: then they were on like a free agent street free
- 3:21Speaker 3: agent corner who got you know, beat on that DeVante
- 3:24Speaker 3: I mean the John Dotson touchdown.
- 3:27Speaker 2: So they were They were in a tough PNE So yeah,
- 3:29Speaker 2: they were.
- 3:29Speaker 3: There were players that were open and the Eagles took
- 3:32Speaker 3: advantage of. The Eagles were also without a j. Brown,
- 3:34Speaker 3: so they were underhand. They were shorthanded as well. They
- 3:37Speaker 3: did some things differently on offense again to combat to
- 3:41Speaker 3: help themselves out and to go against what the Giants
- 3:43Speaker 3: were showing on defense. But the only thing that stands
- 3:46Speaker 3: out from a negative is that they continue to be a.
- 3:48Speaker 2: Very bad third down offense.
- 3:51Speaker 3: And you know that would be if fixing the run
- 3:54Speaker 3: game was number one, And you're feeling that now the
- 3:57Speaker 3: next focus should be how do they get better on
- 3:59Speaker 3: third down? Because they've been so good in the red
- 4:02Speaker 3: zone that they've compensated for the fact that they had
- 4:06Speaker 3: they were not very good on third down.
- 4:08Speaker 1: You mentioned these wrinkles a lot of under center. How
- 4:11Speaker 1: has that kind of made adjustments and change this offense
- 4:15Speaker 1: a little bit? The last two weeks they've really kind
- 4:17Speaker 1: of gone under center almost exclusively.
- 4:21Speaker 3: No, no, not exclusively. I mean they've added it to
- 4:23Speaker 3: their offense. I think last week against the Vikings when
- 4:26Speaker 3: they first there was about sixteen snaps, but if you
- 4:29Speaker 3: take away that the victory formation and the tush push,
- 4:33Speaker 3: it was like, you know, no, it was about sixteen
- 4:35Speaker 3: and now they may have done it fifteen sixteen more
- 4:38Speaker 3: time and counted yet I did last week. So it's
- 4:40Speaker 3: a part of their offense that is helping them. And
- 4:43Speaker 3: then throwing Fred Johnson in as an extra offensive tackle
- 4:47Speaker 3: one about eight or ten snaps also helps.
- 4:50Speaker 2: And they've been throwing the ball.
- 4:51Speaker 1: They've been throwing the ball with the extra lineman, so
- 4:54Speaker 1: that kind of like the aft to right.
- 4:56Speaker 3: You got to mix it up. You can't just if
- 4:57Speaker 3: you do. If you just run it every time, they're
- 4:59Speaker 3: going to know right. And the whole point was to
- 5:01Speaker 3: diversify your offense. And then I thought they they made
- 5:05Speaker 3: a concerted effort to get some runs that were I
- 5:07Speaker 3: don't want to call them outside zone, but outside the
- 5:10Speaker 3: tackle off tackle as opposed to straight inside between the tackles.
- 5:15Speaker 2: So that that took the pressure off Bett.
- 5:16Speaker 3: Brettote that to make difficult blocks up the middle, but
- 5:20Speaker 3: it took advantage of his athleticism.
- 5:21Speaker 2: He's a pretty good athlete.
- 5:22Speaker 3: He's played garden tackle and center, so you got you
- 5:25Speaker 3: see him.
- 5:26Speaker 2: You saw him get outside.
- 5:27Speaker 3: And get some lead blocks in the second level on
- 5:29Speaker 3: those outside runs.
- 5:30Speaker 2: So that was helpful too.
- 5:31Speaker 1: Well, you just said outside runs, that's something we haven't
- 5:34Speaker 1: seen a lot of. And I thought they went to
- 5:36Speaker 1: the outside, especially with Big Spear. I mean he ran hard,
- 5:39Speaker 1: he's got a little burst, but you saw more outside
- 5:43Speaker 1: runs this particular week.
- 5:46Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, and some you know when you when you
- 5:48Speaker 2: run to the outside.
- 5:50Speaker 3: The way the Eagles do it right is usually through
- 5:52Speaker 3: pinpolls or you know, taking line linemen and moving that
- 5:56Speaker 3: pulling them is what we call it right. And you know,
- 6:00Speaker 3: maybe it was difficult with Cam Jurgen's in there because
- 6:03Speaker 3: he just has been dealing with coming back from the
- 6:05Speaker 3: back surgery, and of course Landon Dickerson has been banged up.
- 6:08Speaker 2: All of them have been banged up a little bit.
- 6:10Speaker 3: But I kept telling you I felt like the more
- 6:12Speaker 3: distance we got from some of these injuries, the better
- 6:15Speaker 3: it would it would get, And obviously this was the
- 6:18Speaker 3: week that they felt that they could get that outside
- 6:21Speaker 3: run game going and.
- 6:22Speaker 1: Did Jeff Mosher from the Inside of the Birds podcast
- 6:25Speaker 1: and Philly Voyce looking back at the Eagles win over
- 6:28Speaker 1: the Giants and some of the things in this game. Obviously,
- 6:30Speaker 1: one big one that wasn't there was aj Brown and
- 6:34Speaker 1: he is obviously their biggest, biggest play threat. But not
- 6:38Speaker 1: having them why were they successful without him?
- 6:42Speaker 3: Well, there's a number of factors, you know. You know,
- 6:45Speaker 3: I thought they were. I thought the offense, the quarterback
- 6:47Speaker 3: was well protected. And if you're well protected and you've
- 6:50Speaker 3: got Dallas Goddard and Devonte Smith, you still should be
- 6:53Speaker 3: able to move the ball. You know, in a lot
- 6:55Speaker 3: of the games where they played without aj Brown, specifically
- 6:59Speaker 3: the tam Bay games, things they were also dealing with
- 7:02Speaker 3: other injuries in those games that either impacted pass protection
- 7:06Speaker 3: or impacted.
- 7:06Speaker 2: The quarterback in some kind of way.
- 7:08Speaker 3: But in this case, you know, you're going up again
- 7:11Speaker 3: against the Giants defense missing two starters in the secondary.
- 7:14Speaker 3: You blocked it up well up front thanks to a
- 7:16Speaker 3: your running game and B pass pro has been pretty
- 7:19Speaker 3: good this year. Anyway, I thought the Giants did a
- 7:22Speaker 3: bad job of They did a good job of moving
- 7:25Speaker 3: Hurts off his mark, but a bad job of of
- 7:30Speaker 3: even when they spied him containing his rush. You know,
- 7:32Speaker 3: he got out of the they didn't have a discipline rush,
- 7:35Speaker 3: so he was able to make some things happen.
- 7:38Speaker 2: And then Devant's missed really good.
- 7:39Speaker 3: You put him up against anybody and he's gonna him
- 7:41Speaker 3: and godd it are gonna get their their catches.
- 7:44Speaker 2: I think, you know, I think it's okay.
- 7:46Speaker 3: Maybe it's politically correct now where we could say, hey,
- 7:48Speaker 3: you know what, when the Eagles get into the red zone,
- 7:50Speaker 3: they kind of come up with creative stuff we haven't
- 7:52Speaker 3: seen before, especially to Gotter, right, I mean, maybe.
- 7:56Speaker 2: Deserve some credit there. I don't know.
- 7:58Speaker 1: I thought the second touchdown to guy it was a
- 8:00Speaker 1: really cool play. I'm not saying that, but it was
- 8:02Speaker 1: a really well executed play. We hear Jalen Hurts talk
- 8:07Speaker 1: about that a lot, like we need to execute better.
- 8:09Speaker 1: Sometimes these guys call play and if we don't execute them,
- 8:12Speaker 1: it makes that guy look bad. And that's a play
- 8:14Speaker 1: that they execute it well. So it's a well designed,
- 8:17Speaker 1: well called and well executed play and then you see
- 8:20Speaker 1: what the result is.
- 8:21Speaker 3: Yeah, so that's a play they've run in the past.
- 8:23Speaker 3: They did it against the Steelers, last year, they did
- 8:25Speaker 3: it against another team, I think maybe the Giants. It's
- 8:28Speaker 3: a run action play with an RPO tag, meaning the
- 8:31Speaker 3: quarterback has three different things he can do. He can
- 8:33Speaker 3: hand it off to the running back, he can run himself,
- 8:36Speaker 3: or he can flip it to Goddard if the if
- 8:40Speaker 3: the defense does what they think it's going to do.
- 8:42Speaker 3: And in most cases on that tag, like last year, Hurts,
- 8:47Speaker 3: like Goddard would come across the line and Hurts would
- 8:49Speaker 3: sort of flick it to him right and almost like
- 8:52Speaker 3: a shovel pass, and he would pick up extra yards.
- 8:54Speaker 3: But Goddard noticed that the linebacker was crashing pretty hard
- 8:59Speaker 3: like he was. It was scraping down really fast, so
- 9:02Speaker 3: that I mean, so Goddard just made a decision I'm
- 9:04Speaker 3: gonna go vertical, and Hurts saw it and threw it.
- 9:06Speaker 3: So instead of flick it became an actual just a
- 9:09Speaker 3: pass down night kind of that right seam area and
- 9:12Speaker 3: turned into a really nice touchdown.
- 9:13Speaker 1: It was Yeah, it was a really good play, and
- 9:16Speaker 1: you talk about the play caller. We said, you know,
- 9:18Speaker 1: anybody who thinks in week one you're gonna do a
- 9:20Speaker 1: better job than you might do in week seventeen, you know,
- 9:23Speaker 1: that's just not realistic. And it seemed that yesterday there
- 9:26Speaker 1: was a lot more comfortable. There was a lot more flow,
- 9:28Speaker 1: there was a lot more fluidity, there's a lot more
- 9:30Speaker 1: setting things up, there's a lot more rhyme and reason
- 9:33Speaker 1: in the play call, and you're like, hey, maybe this
- 9:34Speaker 1: guy's just starting to feel a little bit more. You know,
- 9:37Speaker 1: it's just ironic that it happened in the game that
- 9:39Speaker 1: A J. Brown not play.
- 9:41Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, I definitely think that. I don't know
- 9:45Speaker 3: if they if they played more freely because AJ Brown's
- 9:49Speaker 3: a very popular person in that locker room, maybe hurts
- 9:53Speaker 3: felt a little bit more free.
- 9:55Speaker 2: But it's not like he threw the ball all around.
- 9:57Speaker 3: I mean, his biggest pass was obviously the one Johan
- 10:00Speaker 3: and he hit. Davante smith had twenty attempts. Yeah, he
- 10:05Speaker 3: only had twenty attempts. That's my point.
- 10:06Speaker 2: The Dotson.
- 10:07Speaker 1: If you go back and watch that play, Davante smith
- 10:09Speaker 1: Man fell and he was wide open, so you can
- 10:13Speaker 1: make a case that he threw it to the wrong guy.
- 10:15Speaker 1: Even though he ends up making a great throw and
- 10:17Speaker 1: Dotson ends up making a great catch on the other side,
- 10:20Speaker 1: he could have literally just said here you go to
- 10:22Speaker 1: Smith because Smith's man fell on the move that Smith
- 10:25Speaker 1: put on him. But yeah, he only did the ball
- 10:27Speaker 1: twenty times, but it just felt like, you know, little
- 10:30Speaker 1: inside crossers to Smith, He's wide open catching the ball
- 10:33Speaker 1: with space and in front of guys. I mean, it
- 10:36Speaker 1: just felt like the amount of room and space that
- 10:39Speaker 1: they had in the past game was something we just
- 10:41Speaker 1: haven't seen all year. Everything always just seems like it's
- 10:43Speaker 1: got to be the perfect throw or the perfect route,
- 10:46Speaker 1: and yesterday it just felt like, hey, look at this,
- 10:48Speaker 1: there's space.
- 10:49Speaker 2: There's room to.
- 10:49Speaker 1: Rome in the in the giant secondary. Who, by the way,
- 10:54Speaker 1: the giant secondary stinks, I.
- 10:56Speaker 3: Mean, especially when you're without two decent starters in the
- 10:59Speaker 3: DUBO and those were two free agent signings that were
- 11:02Speaker 3: playing fairly decently for that. I mean, again, they hadn't
- 11:04Speaker 3: played great as a defense. I think they're on the
- 11:07Speaker 3: field a little bit too much for four weeks. But yeah,
- 11:09Speaker 3: they have some pretty good players on defense that made
- 11:12Speaker 3: it a little bit easier with them being being out.
- 11:15Speaker 3: But you know, the Giants are going to kick themselves,
- 11:17Speaker 3: like because the Eagles. I think we talked about this
- 11:19Speaker 3: last week, so we've been saying, can the Eagles continue
- 11:22Speaker 3: to be at play offense and get where they want
- 11:26Speaker 3: to go? In my response that has been yes, but
- 11:29Speaker 3: only if they have a run game, right, And this
- 11:32Speaker 3: proved out to be true because a they had a
- 11:34Speaker 3: great run game, but they were still a shot play offense.
- 11:38Speaker 2: Okay, I mean, look at their five biggest plays. Second
- 11:41Speaker 2: and ten is when Barkley gets a sixty five yard touchdown.
- 11:45Speaker 2: Giants are gonna kick themselves.
- 11:46Speaker 3: You get a great stop on first down, second and ten,
- 11:48Speaker 3: you let up.
- 11:49Speaker 2: A sixty five yard touchdown, right, third and six.
- 11:51Speaker 3: Of course, the dotson second and twenty six and you
- 11:54Speaker 3: give up a twenty nine yard run. First and fifteen
- 11:58Speaker 3: and you give up a twenty six yard pas. So
- 12:00Speaker 3: the Giants are gonna look it back and say, man,
- 12:02Speaker 3: we had them in some pretty unfavorable down and distant
- 12:07Speaker 3: scenarios for them, and they still got their shot plays.
- 12:11Speaker 2: So they're gonna kick themselves on that.
- 12:14Speaker 1: A couple of things that I want to look forward to.
- 12:16Speaker 1: Now you're at the bye week, and here you are
- 12:18Speaker 1: six and two. You're in second place in the NFC
- 12:20Speaker 1: or a game behind Green Bay, who you will play
- 12:23Speaker 1: next week, So obviously you're in a good spot here.
- 12:25Speaker 1: But they do have a couple interesting I think things
- 12:27Speaker 1: to kind of self scout, self evaluate it to thing,
- 12:31Speaker 1: what is going to happen with the Dean Campbell situation snaps.
- 12:37Speaker 1: I don't want to say situation that makes it sound
- 12:39Speaker 1: like there's like some friction or something. But you know
- 12:42Speaker 1: what I'm saying, because Campbell only played twenty snaps, You're
- 12:46Speaker 1: gonna get Nolan Smith back. You're gonna get Brandon Graham back.
- 12:49Speaker 1: Azizos Alari was not active because he was injured, but
- 12:52Speaker 1: I don't know if you want to activate him. Josh
- 12:54Speaker 1: Usse played thirty plus snaps in the game, ended up
- 12:57Speaker 1: getting a big hit on it calls to not a
- 12:59Speaker 1: fun bull quote unquote, but the ball came out of
- 13:02Speaker 1: Dart's hands, whatever you want to call that. How is
- 13:04Speaker 1: Campbell going to have a role in this defense?
- 13:10Speaker 2: That's a great question. Nikobe played thirty three snaps in
- 13:14Speaker 2: the game.
- 13:15Speaker 3: And you said Campbell played one, played twenty one, Yeah,
- 13:18Speaker 3: and some of those were at edge, most of them
- 13:21Speaker 3: and I.
- 13:22Speaker 1: Think that what's that probably most of them?
- 13:25Speaker 2: I mean, yeah, yeah, I mean because because he's.
- 13:28Speaker 1: Getting the snaps that he's getting now are as an
- 13:31Speaker 1: edge guy, and those are gonna probably go away when
- 13:35Speaker 1: Nolan comes back, and Brandon's gonna have to get snapped somewhere,
- 13:38Speaker 1: and Ouch is playing thirty. So yeah, and if O
- 13:42Speaker 1: Jallari's active, which doesn't mean he has to be, but
- 13:45Speaker 1: this is gonna be very difficult for Vic to figure
- 13:48Speaker 1: out unless he just found out says, Dean's won that job.
- 13:51Speaker 1: You're standing next to me.
- 13:53Speaker 3: Well, the thing is Campbell played edge when when the
- 13:55Speaker 3: Eagles are in a five to two front, and that
- 13:57Speaker 3: enables them to have that extra down line Enman and
- 14:01Speaker 3: then Nikobe can play off ball linebacker. But when they're
- 14:03Speaker 3: in nickel, I don't think Dean was still the guy
- 14:07Speaker 3: in nickel. He may have been on a few, but
- 14:09Speaker 3: I think that's still where Campbell goes. Where they're in
- 14:12Speaker 3: a four to two looking front, which is where they
- 14:15Speaker 3: want to be most often, because they want to be,
- 14:17Speaker 3: you know, in that nickel alignment.
- 14:20Speaker 2: So we'll have to.
- 14:21Speaker 3: Say, I suspect that Vick will continue to play them
- 14:24Speaker 3: all and just figure out what down and distances are
- 14:28Speaker 3: best for who, and when he wants to use Campbell
- 14:32Speaker 3: off the ball, and when he wants to use him
- 14:33Speaker 3: on the ball. Remember, yes, Brandon Graham's coming back. I
- 14:35Speaker 3: don't know if he's gonna play. You know, thirty five
- 14:37Speaker 3: percent of the snaps as soon as he gets back,
- 14:39Speaker 3: O Jilari, you want to see you that he was
- 14:41Speaker 3: inactive for the first war. Four weeks he could go
- 14:43Speaker 3: back to being inactive. So and then there's a trade deadline.
- 14:48Speaker 2: It's all unanswerable.
- 14:49Speaker 1: And five sacks in the game. You got Nolan Smith
- 14:53Speaker 1: coming back, you now have Brandon Graham. Do you reevaluate
- 14:58Speaker 1: your necessity for and focus on corner?
- 15:01Speaker 2: No? No, because how many of those sacks came from edge?
- 15:05Speaker 1: Well, you keep getting them from the inside.
- 15:07Speaker 2: That's my point, like you you know, and by the way,
- 15:09Speaker 2: let's be fair. Let's be fair.
- 15:10Speaker 3: How many of those sacks that Jackson Dart run into?
- 15:13Speaker 3: I mean, like, were those sacks? Because you're right, but
- 15:17Speaker 3: one Jordan Davis got was because somebody that dark right
- 15:21Speaker 3: run into him.
- 15:21Speaker 1: I'm asking the questions because people will see five sacks
- 15:25Speaker 1: and think, hey, they got five sacks. You're answering in
- 15:27Speaker 1: a way to tell those people that those five sacks
- 15:29Speaker 1: are a little bit more of a miarage than getting
- 15:31Speaker 1: five sacks.
- 15:32Speaker 3: A little bit, you know, I mean, I'm not saying
- 15:34Speaker 3: they didn't get good pressure, but I mean Vic still
- 15:37Speaker 3: felt like he had to throw a decent amount.
- 15:39Speaker 2: Of sim pressures and blitzes.
- 15:41Speaker 3: You know, you got a sack from Carter, he got
- 15:44Speaker 3: a sack from Davis, You got a sack from a Joemo.
- 15:46Speaker 3: One from Hunt, although he should probably should have had two,
- 15:48Speaker 3: but he couldn't.
- 15:49Speaker 2: You know, he lost his grip on I thought by far. Yeah,
- 15:54Speaker 2: I thought I thought the Alex Hunt was pretty good.
- 15:57Speaker 3: And and now is about the time, you know, halfway
- 16:00Speaker 3: through year two where the development is going along and
- 16:03Speaker 3: you're hoping he really picks it up over the second
- 16:06Speaker 3: half of the season because he has to.
- 16:07Speaker 2: He's really their best overall edge rusher.
- 16:11Speaker 1: Well, you figure, by the way, Ojomo had one, So
- 16:13Speaker 1: you had Ojomo, Carter, and Davis all get a sex.
- 16:16Speaker 1: So three came from tackle. I think Ojomo leads a
- 16:18Speaker 1: team in sacks.
- 16:19Speaker 3: By the way, Yes, because he's now finally overtaken Zadarius Smith.
- 16:25Speaker 1: Well, I know he has more than one and a
- 16:27Speaker 1: half OJE. Yeah he has he has four sacks. So
- 16:32Speaker 1: he has four sacks. I think that leads a team. Well, yeah,
- 16:34Speaker 1: you got three from there. The one Campbell actually had
- 16:38Speaker 1: Dart's legs and Uce took him out, I mean and calls,
- 16:41Speaker 1: So Campbell got a little bit of pressure. But I
- 16:43Speaker 1: do think it's interesting what's gonna happen when Nolan comes
- 16:46Speaker 1: back if Hunt starts to like get more involved. Now
- 16:49Speaker 1: you're not gonna know this because you have the by
- 16:51Speaker 1: coming up here, But after this bye, is Nolan Smith
- 16:54Speaker 1: you think going to be ready to play in Green Bay.
- 16:58Speaker 3: I think they have to get him out on the
- 16:59Speaker 3: practice field first and see how he responds. How I mean,
- 17:03Speaker 3: this is guy coming off the same injury, right, A
- 17:06Speaker 3: tweak of the pack that kept him out quite a
- 17:09Speaker 3: while after surgery.
- 17:11Speaker 2: I'm not the pack.
- 17:11Speaker 3: I'm sorry to try Sam after surgery on it in
- 17:14Speaker 3: the offseason. So you know, they've got to see how
- 17:18Speaker 3: he responds to it. It's not a given that he's
- 17:21Speaker 3: back by that Monday night game.
- 17:24Speaker 1: You'll probably have Brandon Graham back out there.
- 17:27Speaker 2: I would think.
- 17:27Speaker 1: So, Yeah, I thought another big factor in this game.
- 17:30Speaker 1: We shouldn't because we did hit on it a couple
- 17:32Speaker 1: of weeks was the return game was much better and
- 17:35Speaker 1: put them in much better you know, starting positions huge.
- 17:39Speaker 3: I think it's one of the most underdiscussed parts of
- 17:42Speaker 3: the game so far. And you know, I've been telling
- 17:45Speaker 3: you a week by week the Eagles field position has
- 17:46Speaker 3: been a major impediment to their offense, especially their rushing
- 17:50Speaker 3: offense or just in general.
- 17:51Speaker 2: And Will Shipley gave them two really good returns.
- 17:54Speaker 3: I think Gibson gave him a seventeen yard punt return.
- 17:56Speaker 2: If I'm not mistaken.
- 17:57Speaker 3: And the Eagles on both both of Shipley's kick returns,
- 18:02Speaker 3: which were over thirty yards each, they scored.
- 18:04Speaker 2: Touchdowns on those drives.
- 18:05Speaker 3: I can't tell you that that's you know, A plus
- 18:09Speaker 3: B equals C, but I'm pretty confident that there's some
- 18:12Speaker 3: cause and effect there.
- 18:13Speaker 1: Pretty confident that aj Dillon probably doesn't get to carry
- 18:15Speaker 1: the rest of the year.
- 18:17Speaker 3: Not only that, you know, it's something Adam and I
- 18:19Speaker 3: talked about on Inside the Birds postgame show. Is his
- 18:23Speaker 3: job is a spot on the fifty three in Jeopardy
- 18:25Speaker 3: Now that some guys are going to come off I
- 18:27Speaker 3: r and maybe some additions in the trade market.
- 18:31Speaker 1: Yeah, I would imagine he has no role if moving
- 18:33Speaker 1: forward here. By the way, a big third down play
- 18:36Speaker 1: in the game was Darius Cooper drawing that pass interference.
- 18:40Speaker 3: It was you know, he was out there pretty early
- 18:43Speaker 3: as they tried to He's the only receiver they have
- 18:45Speaker 3: Mike that you can legitimately call a true backup X
- 18:50Speaker 3: to AJ Brown because it's two two hundred and three
- 18:52Speaker 3: pounds six foot like he's a big, strong wide receiver.
- 18:57Speaker 3: And without a J Brown, they really had a lot
- 18:59Speaker 3: of guys you could say, all right, you're my boundary
- 19:01Speaker 3: reacts and you're gonna get off press coverage if they
- 19:04Speaker 3: try to, you know, like you don't want Devonte Smid
- 19:06Speaker 3: there too many times taking all that punishment and and
- 19:09Speaker 3: seor Johnny Metschi you or Johan Dotson.
- 19:12Speaker 2: So it was good to see Cooper out there.
- 19:15Speaker 1: Uh yeah, I agree, And you know it was Docson
- 19:20Speaker 1: had the one catch, you know, twenty reception, twenty pass
- 19:23Speaker 1: attempts all day. So it wasn't like they were crazy,
- 19:25Speaker 1: but they were very effective there. The run game, they
- 19:28Speaker 1: had like two hundred and seventy five yards. Two hundred
- 19:31Speaker 1: and fifty of them came from Bigsby Bigsby's second down
- 19:33Speaker 1: in thirty one that was a big play in the game.
- 19:36Speaker 2: He gets the.
- 19:37Speaker 1: First down on that play ended ended up being a
- 19:39Speaker 1: big deal, so they looked like an offense that is
- 19:43Speaker 1: obviously ascending. They have the bye week and then the
- 19:46Speaker 1: Green Bay Packers, followed by the Lions, then the Cowboys,
- 19:50Speaker 1: so it's a stretch here of interesting games with some
- 19:52Speaker 1: high powered offenses. That's all coming up here. Football four
- 19:56Speaker 1: will have you covered Jeff Boscher from the Inside the
- 19:59Speaker 1: Birds pie Cast. They'll have plenty of coverage of the
- 20:02Speaker 1: Eagles at Inside the Birds dot com and the Inside
- 20:04Speaker 1: the Birds podcast, which you can get on all podcasting
- 20:07Speaker 1: platforms and check them out over at Philly Voice dot com.
- 20:11Speaker 1: His observations of the Eagles win are up right now.
- 20:14Speaker 1: All right, Jeff, we'll talk to you.
- 20:16Speaker 2: Thanks. Mike Tick here
