- 0:00Speaker 1: Yeah, that uh, Chuck Norris was chasing the Tyrannosaurus Rex.
- 0:05Speaker 2: The rex was not chasing the jeep. Murray, Murray, you there.
- 0:10Speaker 2: You love sandwiches. Huh, Let's go to uh eighty. He
- 0:14Speaker 2: was bo Wow, that's prime time baby. I had a
- 0:18Speaker 2: crush on Betty Rubble.
- 0:19Speaker 1: I honestly, until after the segment ended and we went
- 0:22Speaker 1: to commercial break, had no idea that Jonathan Coachman was black.
- 0:25Speaker 2: He caught them the game last night, although they won
- 0:28Speaker 2: the game.
- 0:29Speaker 1: You're listening just to Gotzon Company. Sean Sharania is joining
- 0:34Speaker 1: us from the NBA Finals. He's in San Antonio. As
- 0:37Speaker 1: he was telling us a funny story about a guy
- 0:39Speaker 1: who walked into his house.
- 0:40Speaker 3: A worker.
- 0:41Speaker 4: I believe we walked into your house on Wednesday night
- 0:43Speaker 4: for Game one. We had just a friend over, doesn't
- 0:45Speaker 4: know anything about basketball, really, just kind of hanging out,
- 0:48Speaker 4: having some dinner. And he looked at what At one
- 0:49Speaker 4: point when Sham's on the screen, I forget for what? Yeah,
- 0:52Speaker 4: and He's like that man's got a very nice face,
- 0:54Speaker 4: very handsome, and I'm like, okay, yeah, yeah, let's just
- 0:56Speaker 4: move on. We were talking about the symmetry of Sam's
- 0:59Speaker 4: face you will.
- 1:01Speaker 3: I appreciate the loaves.
- 1:02Speaker 1: I got to tell you, you do look jacked in
- 1:03Speaker 1: a way that I haven't seen you before.
- 1:05Speaker 5: You've been hitting the weight room, right, you do.
- 1:07Speaker 3: I'll take I'll take that. I mean, Stuve Gotts.
- 1:09Speaker 6: So I'm on my phone pretty pretty constantly, so I
- 1:13Speaker 6: need to find some time to do other things that like, but.
- 1:16Speaker 3: Still be on my phone.
- 1:18Speaker 6: And the one hour a day at least when I'm
- 1:21Speaker 6: at home I can spend at at the gym to
- 1:24Speaker 6: weightlift or do treadmill or whatever, bike or whatever like
- 1:27Speaker 6: that's usually my time where I can still be on
- 1:30Speaker 6: my phone. But I'm at least not like living this
- 1:32Speaker 6: sedentary lifestyle. I'm not doing any physical activity.
- 1:35Speaker 4: You've got that magnet on the back, so you can
- 1:36Speaker 4: just put it up on a machine while you're doing.
- 1:38Speaker 6: It and just that way, you know what, you know,
- 1:40Speaker 6: it's crazy and it's probably not good for my neck
- 1:42Speaker 6: and everything. I don't even use any of that, just
- 1:44Speaker 6: straight phone in my hand at all times.
- 1:48Speaker 3: Probably bad posture and all that.
- 1:49Speaker 4: So what is this time like for you? Obviously you're
- 1:51Speaker 4: at the finals, but you're obviously the newsgas or the
- 1:54Speaker 4: reporter guy, and so just wondering, you know, with the
- 1:57Speaker 4: draft coming up, free agency coming up, is that what
- 1:59Speaker 4: you essentially do there is just collect as much information
- 2:02Speaker 4: as possible.
- 2:03Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean these are always great networking things, like
- 2:06Speaker 6: is he like even back in the day when Ice
- 2:08Speaker 6: to see you at finals in Miami, Like those finals,
- 2:12Speaker 6: these five like it's just a showcase of all kinds
- 2:15Speaker 6: of people, whether it's agents, it's team execs, it's industry people,
- 2:18Speaker 6: and so that's always great. But this time of year,
- 2:21Speaker 6: we're about, you know, twenty days now from the NBA Draft.
- 2:24Speaker 6: I have one eye on the NBA Draft, one eye
- 2:26Speaker 6: on on trades, and one eye on you know, on
- 2:29Speaker 6: on the on the finals. And so it's kind of
- 2:32Speaker 6: like you're you're you're balancing, you know, two different seasons.
- 2:35Speaker 6: One is my season being draft and free agency and trades,
- 2:39Speaker 6: and then the other being the actual NBA season. So
- 2:42Speaker 6: it's fun, it's uncovering the different angles that go on
- 2:44Speaker 6: at the NBA Finals and watching these these high level
- 2:47Speaker 6: of competitive games.
- 2:49Speaker 3: You hope, so, uh, it's exactely a balance.
- 2:52Speaker 1: Uh, Sean's when you reported because I'm certain it was
- 2:54Speaker 1: you when you reported that Jalen Brunson was going to
- 2:57Speaker 1: the next Did you ever, in your wildest imagination wild
- 3:00Speaker 1: because Kicks fans did not, did you ever think it
- 3:02Speaker 1: would turn into this?
- 3:04Speaker 3: No, I don't think anyone could have expected this.
- 3:06Speaker 6: I do think everyone expected the Knicks to give Jileen
- 3:09Speaker 6: Brunson the keys to the kingdom and basically make it
- 3:13Speaker 6: his picture. And you know, that was an opportunity that
- 3:15Speaker 6: at that point, I don't know how many organizations were
- 3:17Speaker 6: letting Jalen Brusson just be the guy and just give
- 3:20Speaker 6: him the ball. And I think that was a big
- 3:22Speaker 6: vocal point besides the money, you know, the four years,
- 3:25Speaker 6: one hundred and four million that he signed for. Beyond
- 3:27Speaker 6: just that, it was the fact that they were going
- 3:29Speaker 6: to make him the guy and the featured guy, the
- 3:31Speaker 6: leader of the captain, and his relationships ran deep with
- 3:34Speaker 6: the organization, from Leon Rose, who was his agent at
- 3:37Speaker 6: the time, to William Westley, who was a high level
- 3:39Speaker 6: executive here, and then right before his regency, the Knicks
- 3:42Speaker 6: ended up hiring his dad, Rick as a high level
- 3:45Speaker 6: lead assistant. And so the stars aligned, and I remember
- 3:49Speaker 6: I broke that, I believe a day, you know, the
- 3:52Speaker 6: morning of free agency, and at that point it violated
- 3:56Speaker 6: a bunch of rules the Knicks ended up getting I
- 3:58Speaker 6: think they got doctor second round pick for an early
- 4:00Speaker 6: agreement with a player because there were so many levels
- 4:03Speaker 6: of connections and connectivity with this organization in Brunson, and
- 4:07Speaker 6: it was a match made in heaven and no one
- 4:09Speaker 6: could have expected this.
- 4:10Speaker 3: But you have to give Jillen Brunts all the credit.
- 4:13Speaker 6: He's taken the mantle and he's made a championship contending situation.
- 4:18Speaker 5: Out of it.
- 4:18Speaker 4: I feel like they got to make a Brunts and
- 4:19Speaker 4: rule where if one of your parents is on the
- 4:21Speaker 4: staff of any team, you can talk early. Sound curious,
- 4:27Speaker 4: then I want to ask a couple of like potential
- 4:29Speaker 4: free agent stuff. But I want to ask you this
- 4:30Speaker 4: first so I can know which one which order to
- 4:32Speaker 4: do this.
- 4:33Speaker 5: When you're looking.
- 4:34Speaker 4: At this offseason, you're sort of triaging the main stories
- 4:39Speaker 4: that are going to come out. Is it Lebron top
- 4:42Speaker 4: of your radar? Is it Yanni's top of your radar?
- 4:45Speaker 4: Is it somebody that we don't know about top of
- 4:47Speaker 4: your radar?
- 4:48Speaker 6: Yeah, Yannis has been on the top of my radar
- 4:52Speaker 6: and everyone else in the NBA landscape's radar for now
- 4:56Speaker 6: thirteen months. I mean, this whole situation started May twenty
- 5:01Speaker 6: twenty five, when Giannis for the first time told the
- 5:05Speaker 6: Bucks he's ready to go to another team. He's ready
- 5:09Speaker 6: to look at his options which team he wants to
- 5:12Speaker 6: go to, and by the end of the summer in August,
- 5:14Speaker 6: he had made the decision that he wanted to play
- 5:17Speaker 6: for the New York Knicks, and so that's why that's
- 5:19Speaker 6: what led to the Bucks and Knicks engaging in conversation,
- 5:22Speaker 6: and that's what led to all this drama and all
- 5:25Speaker 6: this stuff that we saw play out of the course
- 5:27Speaker 6: of the season. And now I think everyone is at
- 5:29Speaker 6: the custover resolution. Not only did Jimmy has to make
- 5:32Speaker 6: it clear that there's gonna be a resolution before the
- 5:34Speaker 6: NBA Draft finally for the Bucks as an organization, but
- 5:39Speaker 6: you look at everything that's transpired.
- 5:40Speaker 3: The Bucks wanted to give this another go.
- 5:42Speaker 6: They gave this another chance, and Giannis has told them
- 5:45Speaker 6: for months now that he's ready to move on. That stance,
- 5:48Speaker 6: according to my sources, has not changed the slightest bit,
- 5:51Speaker 6: and so in the inevitability of a trade, it obviously
- 5:54Speaker 6: looms now on the horizon. So I think that's top
- 5:57Speaker 6: of mind. But Lebron James anytime he's on the board
- 6:00Speaker 6: as a free agent free agent. This isn't a situation
- 6:03Speaker 6: where he's got an option. He's an outright free agent
- 6:05Speaker 6: coming up in the next couple of weeks, and so
- 6:08Speaker 6: his future, you know, all indications are he's gonna play
- 6:12Speaker 6: another season in the NBA. All indications are that the
- 6:16Speaker 6: Lakers want him back, and I think there's an expectation
- 6:18Speaker 6: that he will have an interesting potentially being back. But
- 6:20Speaker 6: what does that look like from a contractual perspective? What
- 6:23Speaker 6: does that look like from their conversations. They're gonna have
- 6:25Speaker 6: to have conversations after the NBA Finals and to figure
- 6:29Speaker 6: out what that partnership will look like again.
- 6:31Speaker 3: And if not, then where does he go? So I
- 6:33Speaker 3: think those are.
- 6:33Speaker 6: Two definitely top of mind, and there's gonna be a
- 6:35Speaker 6: bunch of other situations. Houston loses in the first round,
- 6:38Speaker 6: what do they do this offseason? Boston loses in the
- 6:41Speaker 6: first round after a three to one lead. What do
- 6:43Speaker 6: they do with guy that Jalen Brown, Derek White, other
- 6:45Speaker 6: players that are up for big money extensions either this
- 6:48Speaker 6: summer summers to come, you know, New Orleans, what do
- 6:52Speaker 6: they do with several players on their roster, whether it's
- 6:54Speaker 6: the Zion Winson or Trey Murphy of Herb Jones. You know,
- 6:58Speaker 6: then there's a bunch of teams like Miami, Olden State, Minnesota, uh,
- 7:02Speaker 6: that have to make moves, that want to make moves
- 7:04Speaker 6: to better their team.
- 7:05Speaker 3: So I tried to rattle off just a few of
- 7:08Speaker 3: the Yeah, my.
- 7:09Speaker 1: Brain, everyone trying to keep up with the next It
- 7:11Speaker 1: just feels like you're you're so good at this that
- 7:13Speaker 1: it's just like I'm not putting any order of things,
- 7:15Speaker 1: like if it happens, it happens, and I'm going to
- 7:17Speaker 1: report that thing.
- 7:17Speaker 4: But uh, all right, So in that case, Yannis reports
- 7:21Speaker 4: not coming from you, just rumored reports. You hear the Celtics,
- 7:24Speaker 4: you hear the Miami Heat, you hear even the Portland
- 7:26Speaker 4: Trailblazers recently for those three No where is he.
- 7:29Speaker 5: Wants them to go? But what do you hear.
- 7:34Speaker 3: These people?
- 7:35Speaker 6: Yeah, these people have been on me right for just
- 7:40Speaker 6: doing the job for thirteen months, and now I'm not
- 7:42Speaker 6: saying anything.
- 7:43Speaker 5: Right.
- 7:47Speaker 3: You see how that works? Right?
- 7:48Speaker 5: Yeah? Yeah, I see how it works.
- 7:51Speaker 1: How'd you deal with the blowback about reporting SGA won
- 7:54Speaker 1: the MVP?
- 7:55Speaker 3: I mean, I mean for me.
- 7:57Speaker 5: I don't.
- 7:58Speaker 3: I don't really view it as as that. I just
- 8:00Speaker 3: people can say whatever they want.
- 8:02Speaker 6: I just just what I have to do is I
- 8:04Speaker 6: need to just do the job. I need to be
- 8:06Speaker 6: able to go to sleep at night knowing that I
- 8:07Speaker 6: do the job of the best of my ability.
- 8:09Speaker 3: I was respons while I was fair.
- 8:10Speaker 6: So as long as I'm doing that, people, you know,
- 8:13Speaker 6: I find it funny. Like you, you laugh at some
- 8:15Speaker 6: of the commentary. You have fun with it.
- 8:17Speaker 5: I don't.
- 8:17Speaker 3: I try not to take anything really that serious, right.
- 8:21Speaker 6: But I think your question being around gi honest, right,
- 8:24Speaker 6: and like what what the dynamics are on that are right?
- 8:27Speaker 4: Yeah, just like the teams and what they're thinking are
- 8:29Speaker 4: going into it.
- 8:31Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 8:32Speaker 6: So I reported at the NBA trade deadline it was Miami, Minnesota,
- 8:37Speaker 6: Golden State, Miami, Minnesota, Golden State. Who am I leaving out?
- 8:43Speaker 6: I know I'm leaving one now. No, Boston definitely had interest,
- 8:48Speaker 6: Cleveland had interest. But at the deadline, I remember, now.
- 8:52Speaker 3: We can we can play the game.
- 8:55Speaker 5: Yea deadline question. Let's see, he's looking it up right now,
- 8:58Speaker 5: just so people, Yeah.
- 8:59Speaker 3: I'm looking it up. Yeah, So I said, yeah, he
- 9:01Speaker 3: wolves Nicks, Warriors.
- 9:03Speaker 6: Those were the y honest teams at the deadline, and
- 9:06Speaker 6: then there were a few other teams at the periphery, Lakers, Cleveland,
- 9:10Speaker 6: Boston that had interest. They discussed concepts, but nothing really
- 9:15Speaker 6: rose to the level as those other teams.
- 9:17Speaker 3: Knicks kind of trailed off.
- 9:18Speaker 6: It was really at the end, it was Miami, it
- 9:20Speaker 6: was Minnesota, and it was Golden State. Golden State obviously
- 9:22Speaker 6: offering four first round picks, Miami offering a slew of
- 9:26Speaker 6: I reported Tyler Heroklill where other rotation.
- 9:29Speaker 3: Players, multiple draft picks, multiple swaps.
- 9:32Speaker 6: And then Minnesota made an offer as well, including draft picks,
- 9:36Speaker 6: and they had players as well.
- 9:37Speaker 3: You think a guy like.
- 9:38Speaker 6: Jaden mcgaanal is how valuable he could be in a
- 9:41Speaker 6: potential trade. So and I reported it near the end
- 9:44Speaker 6: of the season, I did my Bucks piece. All those
- 9:47Speaker 6: same teams you expect to be back in the mix,
- 9:49Speaker 6: and I think that's what the Bucks are shifting through,
- 9:51Speaker 6: is the level of interest from these teams. But the
- 9:53Speaker 6: big question, of course that's going to come into play
- 9:56Speaker 6: is which teams does Yiannis want to give that long
- 9:59Speaker 6: term commitm too right, because he's got one year left
- 10:02Speaker 6: on his deal. And if a team is going to
- 10:05Speaker 6: give up in the second apron this collective bargain me
- 10:08Speaker 6: airing era, the team is going to give up three
- 10:12Speaker 6: four five first round draft picks, two three rotation high
- 10:16Speaker 6: level players swaps as well in the trade for Giannis.
- 10:20Speaker 6: You better believe and hope that he's going to be invested,
- 10:23Speaker 6: He's going to be motivated, he's going to be committed,
- 10:26Speaker 6: and he's going to want to be their long term.
- 10:28Speaker 6: Otherwise it just completely shrinks your window and really really
- 10:33Speaker 6: depletes your ability to build a sustainable winner. And so
- 10:37Speaker 6: I think that's what Milwaukee's trying to figure out, is
- 10:39Speaker 6: which teams is Giannis you know on the back channel,
- 10:42Speaker 6: which team is he willing to go to? And you know,
- 10:44Speaker 6: this has not been a process that's been I think
- 10:47Speaker 6: played out in the public because that's just not how
- 10:49Speaker 6: Yiannis has been throughout the course of his career. I
- 10:52Speaker 6: don't expect it it'll get to that point, Like I
- 10:54Speaker 6: haven't heard it get to that point. Yeah, but I
- 10:56Speaker 6: know that's these are all the things that are playing
- 10:58Speaker 6: out behind the scenes.
- 10:59Speaker 4: So do you know I think that a team or
- 11:01Speaker 4: might try to pull a MASSI U Juri and get
- 11:05Speaker 4: like a Kawhi for one year try to win the
- 11:06Speaker 4: championship because of how much? Because like if you go
- 11:09Speaker 4: back and look at that trade for Kawhi, it was Demarko,
- 11:13Speaker 4: Jacob Pearle.
- 11:13Speaker 6: And a first strong pick, right, Like I think, like
- 11:17Speaker 6: let's say let's say Portland for.
- 11:18Speaker 3: Example, Right, I'm.
- 11:20Speaker 6: Pretty sure that Portland would do a couple of players,
- 11:24Speaker 6: you know, starters and a first sung pick for Yiannis
- 11:27Speaker 6: no matter the risk reward, right, you just you just
- 11:30Speaker 6: go get y honest. Yeah, but the price is not
- 11:33Speaker 6: going to be that this goal around, Like, it's not
- 11:35Speaker 6: gonna be a couple of rotation players in a first
- 11:37Speaker 6: strong pick. And so knowing that, I think the market
- 11:40Speaker 6: has changed itself, right, Like I think Ad is a
- 11:43Speaker 6: great example. When Ad was up up for trade in
- 11:46Speaker 6: twenty nineteen that summer, he hands up with the Lakers.
- 11:49Speaker 3: They got a haul.
- 11:50Speaker 6: The Pelicans did get all Lonzo Ball, brandon Ingram Josh Hart.
- 11:53Speaker 3: Think they got a few first few swaps.
- 11:56Speaker 6: Like that's really what you're looking at if you're trading
- 11:59Speaker 6: for a guy.
- 11:59Speaker 4: Like so you mentioned a couple of these teams earlier,
- 12:02Speaker 4: but I was curious of from what you've learned these teams, Houston, Denver, OKC,
- 12:10Speaker 4: and Cleveland. Of those four, which one do you think
- 12:13Speaker 4: we're going to significantly look different next year potentially or
- 12:17Speaker 4: make a significant move.
- 12:20Speaker 6: Denver jumps off just from the beginning, the way they
- 12:23Speaker 6: lost in that first round, the way they you know,
- 12:28Speaker 6: I think their roster and their salaries are set up,
- 12:30Speaker 6: and the fact that their owner, Josh Conkor is very adamant.
- 12:33Speaker 6: It's Nikola Jokic and everything else is on the table.
- 12:36Speaker 3: So like, realistically, do I think they trade Jamal Murray?
- 12:39Speaker 6: I would lean no, But then you think about God
- 12:41Speaker 6: that Cam Johnson, You think about Aaron Gordon. I think
- 12:43Speaker 6: that's who everyone around the league is keeping an eye on.
- 12:46Speaker 6: But I think Cleveland's gonna be opportunistic. We don't know
- 12:50Speaker 6: still what Oklahoma City is going to do. Sam Presty,
- 12:53Speaker 6: that organization is going to be very methodical, very diligent
- 12:56Speaker 6: about the process.
- 12:58Speaker 3: I think you might have mentioned one other team in that.
- 13:00Speaker 4: I mentioned Cleveland and Houston.
- 13:03Speaker 6: Houston, I think, you know, when you look at that roster,
- 13:06Speaker 6: you think about Men Thompson.
- 13:07Speaker 3: You know, that's really the untouchable that they have had
- 13:11Speaker 3: over the course of the last year or two.
- 13:13Speaker 6: So from there, like what can you go get what
- 13:15Speaker 6: other star player is sensible for you?
- 13:18Speaker 3: And I don't think they have the answer quite yet.
- 13:21Speaker 6: And they could just run that team back because they
- 13:24Speaker 6: were down Fred VanVleet, they were down Steven Adams most.
- 13:27Speaker 3: Of the season pretty much the whole season injury.
- 13:29Speaker 6: And so not having those two key veterans, I think also,
- 13:33Speaker 6: you know, it gives you some reason to if you
- 13:35Speaker 6: want to roll it back, you feel like you have
- 13:38Speaker 6: a couple of big time bets that you can side
- 13:40Speaker 6: right in.
- 13:41Speaker 1: I'm going to ask this in a very delicate way
- 13:43Speaker 1: because your news is to get the news and then
- 13:45Speaker 1: report the news. But I am wondering because you are
- 13:48Speaker 1: a fan. I'm just wondering if you've ever received news
- 13:51Speaker 1: and you had to do like a double take because
- 13:53Speaker 1: you didn't believe it was true. And if so, was
- 13:55Speaker 1: Michale Bridges an example of that five Verst Lucas probably
- 13:59Speaker 1: up there.
- 14:01Speaker 6: Yeah, I think Luca definitely takes that for me. But
- 14:06Speaker 6: I mean, there was one that happened at the deadline
- 14:08Speaker 6: this year, ad getting traded to the Wizards.
- 14:11Speaker 3: I remember when I heard that, I was like, what like,
- 14:14Speaker 3: I was stunned.
- 14:16Speaker 6: Because and and and and and I think like people
- 14:19Speaker 6: in people in some of those circles around a d
- 14:22Speaker 6: I think they were stunned too, the fact that the
- 14:23Speaker 6: Wizards would make a.
- 14:24Speaker 3: Play like that at the time they did it.
- 14:26Speaker 6: The price they got him for obviously they got you know, uh,
- 14:30Speaker 6: Dallas did end up with a few couple first shound
- 14:32Speaker 6: picks and and and other assets, but that was really
- 14:35Speaker 6: just to wash the money away, right and give it
- 14:37Speaker 6: to Washington and be able to clean your books, and
- 14:40Speaker 6: so the way it happened definitely that that was probably
- 14:43Speaker 6: the last time I was like wow, like that's that's insane.
- 14:46Speaker 3: But Luca, that's that's another strategy for sure.
- 14:49Speaker 1: I was like wow when someone sent me, sham just
- 14:51Speaker 1: report the McHale Bridges going to the next for five
- 14:53Speaker 1: first round picks.
- 14:54Speaker 4: It's like, there's got to be a type of that
- 14:56Speaker 4: was like two right, and I hope it is go ahead.
- 14:59Speaker 4: Just the thing for me from some of these teams
- 15:01Speaker 4: that you know, didn't make the playoffs but still have
- 15:04Speaker 4: potential to make moves. I think of teams like Dallas.
- 15:07Speaker 4: I think it's teams like New Orleans or you know,
- 15:09Speaker 4: obviously you got the Grizzlies and even the Bulls out there.
- 15:12Speaker 4: When you're thinking about the potential of hey, maybe we're
- 15:15Speaker 4: working away from tanking. Do you see you hear any
- 15:18Speaker 4: of these teams that you know, people haven't really expected
- 15:21Speaker 4: much from trying to make some big moves this offseason.
- 15:25Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean, I mean, I think I think the
- 15:27Speaker 6: new three to two one lottery has made it to
- 15:30Speaker 6: where there's two things. Now there's two things the NBA
- 15:32Speaker 6: has completely eliminated. One, you can't just outright want to
- 15:35Speaker 6: lose games. You just literally can't. You can't go into
- 15:38Speaker 6: a seat and say we are tanking because you don't
- 15:40Speaker 6: want to be at the bottom three because then you're
- 15:42Speaker 6: in the relegation zone. And you literally can't afford to
- 15:46Speaker 6: have your fan base and your franchise go through complete
- 15:50Speaker 6: losing on purpose to.
- 15:52Speaker 3: Be able to get any top pick because you're not guaranteed.
- 15:54Speaker 6: That top pick at all. So that's eliminated. And the
- 15:57Speaker 6: other thing that's eliminated is this jocking for positioning. So
- 16:00Speaker 6: like what we've seen the last couple of years, Utah
- 16:02Speaker 6: has had top whatever six for eight protected pick. Washington's
- 16:06Speaker 6: had top eight six protected picks over the last couple
- 16:08Speaker 6: of years, and you jockey to get to like top four,
- 16:12Speaker 6: top bottom four, bottom five, so you make sure you
- 16:14Speaker 6: keep that pick. Well, you can't do that anymore, at
- 16:17Speaker 6: least guarantee that for yourself, because it's flat and dods.
- 16:20Speaker 6: So even if you finish with the fifth sixth worst record,
- 16:25Speaker 6: you could still end up back in the lottery and
- 16:28Speaker 6: then lose that pick.
- 16:29Speaker 3: So I do think that going into it. So you
- 16:32Speaker 3: think about a team.
- 16:33Speaker 6: Like Sacramento or a Memphis, You're gonna want to be competitive,
- 16:37Speaker 6: and that's where I look at a guy like John Moran.
- 16:39Speaker 6: So if you're Memphis, you're still trying to win. You
- 16:41Speaker 6: still have John Moran for multiple years left on his deal.
- 16:43Speaker 6: Do you keep him or do you trade him to
- 16:46Speaker 6: a team like Sacramento or another team that might also
- 16:48Speaker 6: be in that rebuilding type threshold.
- 16:50Speaker 3: So this three two one.
- 16:52Speaker 6: Lottery, I think is gonna have a lot of unintended
- 16:53Speaker 6: consequences moving forward, and I think a lot of randomness
- 16:56Speaker 6: with the lottery as well.
- 16:57Speaker 1: All Right, a couple of quick ones. We'll get you
- 16:58Speaker 1: out of here, because we know you're busy. We appreciate
- 17:01Speaker 1: the time. I don't need to be in New York
- 17:03Speaker 1: to know what's going on there. I know they're excited,
- 17:05Speaker 1: you're in San Antonio. What's the feeling in San Antonio
- 17:08Speaker 1: right now? Are they're desperate?
- 17:09Speaker 6: They said, yeah, I mean I think, first of all,
- 17:12Speaker 6: it's very hot here, Steve Gott, Yes, it's burning. You know,
- 17:15Speaker 6: maybe that's you know, that's it's all out of Texas
- 17:17Speaker 6: thing comes June in July.
- 17:18Speaker 3: But it's hot as hell. And no, I mean even
- 17:21Speaker 3: the off day, like I got.
- 17:22Speaker 6: Here Tuesday and fans were in the streets honking, you know,
- 17:28Speaker 6: all over all over San Antonio downtown and I haven't
- 17:31Speaker 6: heard much honking today.
- 17:32Speaker 3: So maybe you know, they gotta they gotta.
- 17:34Speaker 6: Get to the But you know, I'll be I'll be
- 17:37Speaker 6: somewhere for dinner tonight, and I'm sure i'll hear it
- 17:39Speaker 6: in the streets.
- 17:39Speaker 3: But I think I think tomorrow will be It'll be
- 17:42Speaker 3: very lively.
- 17:43Speaker 5: All right.
- 17:43Speaker 1: Steven A, who I know you love and respect, but
- 17:46Speaker 1: I'm wondering, and I do too. I love that man,
- 17:49Speaker 1: But how impossible is steven A to be with right now?
- 17:54Speaker 3: You know?
- 17:54Speaker 6: I think I take I take great pride in being
- 17:57Speaker 6: able to handle and Navi gains the conversation with Steven
- 18:01Speaker 6: no matter if he's in his Knicks fandom or not
- 18:03Speaker 6: in his Knicks fandom. We did a TikTok live yesterday
- 18:05Speaker 6: meet him and Shnegomackay and we had a lot of
- 18:07Speaker 6: fun with him. He just posted a video of him
- 18:10Speaker 6: shirtless today on First Take.
- 18:12Speaker 5: So, no.
- 18:14Speaker 3: Guy, this guy is just breaking all barriers. So do
- 18:17Speaker 3: you agree that here for it?
- 18:18Speaker 1: Do you agree that Steven A deserves some degree of
- 18:21Speaker 1: credit for the next being in the NBA Finals?
- 18:24Speaker 3: I saw he said that. I'm not I don't know
- 18:27Speaker 3: if I would give him credit, but I do think, Like, listen,
- 18:31Speaker 3: his voice is so loud.
- 18:32Speaker 6: I'm sure everyone in New York listens to what Stephen
- 18:35Speaker 6: A Is saying.
- 18:36Speaker 4: Johns are just so say this out the door. Thank
- 18:37Speaker 4: you for providing actual like information and stuff, even though
- 18:41Speaker 4: you're not giving opinions, you know what I mean. Like
- 18:44Speaker 4: this job, they can't really say anything, so they just
- 18:46Speaker 4: don't say anything. But you actually say stuff without compromising.
- 18:49Speaker 4: And I've tried to teach him. Just going back to
- 18:52Speaker 4: the SGA stuff in the MVP, just laugh at it.
- 18:54Speaker 4: Who cares about the comments? You did your job, and
- 18:56Speaker 4: you did it well, like that.
- 18:57Speaker 5: Is the job. The job is to get the news
- 19:00Speaker 5: before anyone else does.
- 19:01Speaker 1: And he did it, and he got yelled at, we'll
- 19:03Speaker 1: stay away from that last thing. On the way out.
- 19:06Speaker 1: Your fantasy baseball team, How are we doing? Or are
- 19:08Speaker 1: you too busy for it? What's going on?
- 19:10Speaker 6: No, I told you to go. I haven't played fantasy
- 19:12Speaker 6: baseball since like maybe sophomore.
- 19:15Speaker 3: Junior or of high school. I had to quit.
- 19:16Speaker 6: I had a great team, you know, we started out
- 19:19Speaker 6: in seventh grade with my friends. Yeah, had to had
- 19:22Speaker 6: to had to hang it up, man, you know, but
- 19:24Speaker 6: I took a lot. I still remember my roster, you know,
- 19:27Speaker 6: like Brian McCann was my catcher. Evan Longoria was my
- 19:30Speaker 6: third basement.
- 19:31Speaker 1: Wow, this is your last fantasy baseball roster right now
- 19:35Speaker 1: that you're going.
- 19:37Speaker 3: Roy was my pitcher the TP. No.
- 19:41Speaker 6: I mean I took great pride in that. Curtis Branderson
- 19:46Speaker 6: I used to have it, used to be great thirty
- 19:48Speaker 6: thirty machine.
- 19:51Speaker 3: I used to take it sit.
- 19:52Speaker 6: I used to love Evan Longoria's swing, like I don't
- 19:55Speaker 6: know how much you guys watch it, like you just
- 19:57Speaker 6: do this and then.
- 19:58Speaker 3: He just like chick.
- 19:59Speaker 6: He was very relationships there, yeah, rock and then he
- 20:02Speaker 6: would just smoke it. So yes, yeah, I used to
- 20:04Speaker 6: be a big Evan Longoria Fani.
- 20:06Speaker 3: We used to play woffle ball.
- 20:07Speaker 6: Used to just like imitate his swing, the most chill, calm,
- 20:10Speaker 6: powerful swing I've seen.
- 20:11Speaker 5: So it may now listen. I know this goes back
- 20:13Speaker 5: to but it makes me sad that you.
- 20:15Speaker 1: Have no time for fantasy sports anymore or baseball, because
- 20:17Speaker 1: you love sports.
- 20:18Speaker 6: I know you do, yes, in another world, you know,
- 20:20Speaker 6: I always say, stutt, I need to clone myself. I
- 20:22Speaker 6: need to clone myself for fantasy baseball, for relationships, for
- 20:26Speaker 6: friendships like I just need clones.
- 20:29Speaker 3: I need like five of me.
- 20:30Speaker 1: Yes, but I'm concerned. I've been telling you for a while.
- 20:32Speaker 1: Now dial it back so you can have some sort
- 20:34Speaker 1: of life. Man, don't let this be your life.
- 20:36Speaker 3: Don't no, I'm in it.
- 20:38Speaker 4: You've never talked to the original version of shots here
- 20:40Speaker 4: before you start multiplaying yourself, all right, then enjoy your
- 20:44Speaker 4: time the rest of your time.
- 20:46Speaker 3: Appreciate you, guys.
- 20:47Speaker 5: It's San Antonio and the rest of the NBA Finals.
- 20:49Speaker 1: He's all over esp heads coverage and if any news breaks,
- 20:51Speaker 1: it's coming from him. Uh, Sham's. We appreciate the time
- 20:54Speaker 1: as always. Man, we'll talk to you soon.
- 20:56Speaker 3: Steve Gott did appreciate you guys, Thank you Day one ers.
