- 0:00Speaker 1: And now move the sticks with Daniel, Jeremiah and Bucky Brooks.
- 0:07Speaker 1: What's up everybody? Welcome back on a Monday, DJ, Bucky
- 0:10Speaker 1: Rhett back together as we recap some of the week
- 0:13Speaker 1: six action. Buck, How are you doing, man? Have you
- 0:15Speaker 1: got you tamed down the travel a little bit this week?
- 0:17Speaker 1: That's good?
- 0:18Speaker 2: Yeah, we kept it, We kept it domestic, so it
- 0:20Speaker 2: was it was pretty good.
- 0:21Speaker 3: Just back and forth to Jacksonville.
- 0:24Speaker 2: Got a chance to be there in the building when
- 0:26Speaker 2: the Jaguars played the Colt so it was good.
- 0:28Speaker 1: We'll get to that game in a minute. Rhet Other
- 0:30Speaker 1: than Indiana just getting absolutely smashed by Michigan. How is your.
- 0:34Speaker 4: Thanks thanks for bringing that up. But yeah, all is
- 0:37Speaker 4: all is good. It's the start of a new season.
- 0:40Speaker 4: You know, we got we got six games and six
- 0:42Speaker 4: chances to win four and go play at thirteenth. So
- 0:45Speaker 4: all is good. On the college front. We're gonna figure
- 0:47Speaker 4: it out. And I got a chance to be in
- 0:49Speaker 4: studio for game day highlights and final as you did
- 0:52Speaker 4: a couple of weeks ago there, Ditch and uh and
- 0:55Speaker 4: excited to kind of run through some of these games here.
- 0:57Speaker 4: I think there were some kind of interesting points throughout.
- 1:00Speaker 1: I think we jump right into it here. Again, we
- 1:01Speaker 1: always take the big eight here that we want to
- 1:05Speaker 1: start with, and we'll touch on some of the others
- 1:06Speaker 1: at the end. But I think we start here with
- 1:09Speaker 1: one of these undefeateds going down. We'll get to both
- 1:11Speaker 1: these games here, but if we start with a big one.
- 1:13Speaker 1: The Brown's beating the forty nine Ers. They're at home,
- 1:17Speaker 1: it is a nineteen seventeen game. Obviously, at the end,
- 1:19Speaker 1: brock Perty is able to get a drive, they have
- 1:21Speaker 1: a makeable kick for Jake Moody. He misses it, and
- 1:24Speaker 1: the forty nine ersuf for their first loss of the season,
- 1:26Speaker 1: and they do it at the hands of PJ. Walker.
- 1:29Speaker 1: So no Deshaun Watson. They've got their backup quarterback in there,
- 1:31Speaker 1: PJ Walker. This was not to me anything to do
- 1:35Speaker 1: with the Browns offense or the forty nine Ers defense,
- 1:39Speaker 1: or really even truthfully the forty nine Ers offense. This
- 1:42Speaker 1: was the Browns defense. And this is something that is
- 1:44Speaker 1: not new I put in our chat last night. I
- 1:46Speaker 1: got tweeted out on bluck that they are Shanahan's one
- 1:49Speaker 1: to nine against Jim Schwartz hasn't scored twenty points against them.
- 1:53Speaker 1: And if you listen to the podcast which we've referenced
- 1:56Speaker 1: numerous times with Jordan rod Rieke where she talked about
- 2:00Speaker 1: Sean McVay trying to hire somebody from the Fangio Tree
- 2:03Speaker 1: because he had struggled against that defense. Well, it's the
- 2:07Speaker 1: same exact thing with Kyle Shanahan. He you know, Chris
- 2:10Speaker 1: Caserk's their defensive line coach. They run that jet front,
- 2:13Speaker 1: that wide nine front. Well, where does Chris Casuric come from.
- 2:16Speaker 1: Chris Casuric is a protege of Jim Washburn. Jim Washburn
- 2:21Speaker 1: was coaching with Jim Schwartz forever. It's the same front,
- 2:24Speaker 1: the exact same front that they run that has given
- 2:28Speaker 1: Kyle Shanahan complete fits, no matter where he's been, no
- 2:30Speaker 1: matter what personally has and Buck when I went back
- 2:33Speaker 1: and looked at it, I pulled up the numbers. Fifty
- 2:35Speaker 1: one point six percent in cover one, which was by
- 2:38Speaker 1: far the most cover one any team played this week,
- 2:41Speaker 1: and they get home with four. I mean, he'll sprinkle
- 2:43Speaker 1: in a fifth rusher. J Okay is such a dynamic
- 2:46Speaker 1: player for that Cleveland front. But they it's simple. They're
- 2:49Speaker 1: playing fast and they sped up the clock of brock Purty.
- 2:53Speaker 1: That's what they did.
- 2:54Speaker 2: So let me let me give you a little history
- 2:56Speaker 2: on the Cover one thing and Jim Schwartz. So, Jim
- 2:58Speaker 2: Schwartz is also a Bill Belichick disciple. Bill Belichick and
- 3:01Speaker 2: Nick Saban famously have said the best defense in all
- 3:04Speaker 2: of football is a Cover one defense, because what it
- 3:07Speaker 2: does is it gives you the extra defender in the box,
- 3:10Speaker 2: you're matched up, and you take away all the lips
- 3:12Speaker 2: in the passing game, and it basically becomes, my guys
- 3:15Speaker 2: are better than your guys. Everyone knows exactly what we're doing.
- 3:18Speaker 2: We're not switching, we're not doing anything. We're playing fast
- 3:21Speaker 2: as you're allude to. And when Schwartz took the job
- 3:25Speaker 2: in Cleveland early on, he said, look, we're gonna be
- 3:27Speaker 2: a Cover one team. We're gonna bring five man pressures
- 3:30Speaker 2: and I'm gonna let these guys go.
- 3:32Speaker 3: And what you've seen.
- 3:32Speaker 2: From the Browns defensively, man, they played like their hair
- 3:35Speaker 2: is on fire. They play fast, they're physical, and I
- 3:38Speaker 2: think the other part of the game. The Niners have
- 3:41Speaker 2: always prided themselves in being the bully. Well up in
- 3:45Speaker 2: that game. In the pregame, there's a little m h scummers.
- 3:49Speaker 2: The Browns were determined we're going to bully the bullies,
- 3:52Speaker 2: and sometimes when the bully gets hit in the face, they.
- 3:56Speaker 3: Don't like it.
- 3:56Speaker 2: And I think in that game, you saw the Browns
- 3:59Speaker 2: take the to the Niners and the Niners didn't respond
- 4:02Speaker 2: in kai.
- 4:04Speaker 4: Yeah, I guess that's it. Huh, the the glass slipper
- 4:07Speaker 4: broke and brock Party is going to go back to
- 4:09Speaker 4: you know, being uh mister East West game.
- 4:14Speaker 1: Yes, all over?
- 4:15Speaker 4: Now, come on, I hope that's you know, I'm sure
- 4:18Speaker 4: that's part of the narrative that's floating around on social
- 4:20Speaker 4: media right now, But I don't know that this is
- 4:22Speaker 4: this was all on brock Party. I think you know,
- 4:25Speaker 4: in the end, you got to be pretty happy with
- 4:27Speaker 4: the way that he comes away and leads a drive,
- 4:29Speaker 4: you know, when they absolutely had to have one and
- 4:31Speaker 4: a very makeable field goal opportunity for a very good kicker,
- 4:35Speaker 4: and Jake Moody just so happens, is only two misses
- 4:37Speaker 4: of the season, we're both in this game, uh, you know,
- 4:40Speaker 4: which is unfortunate obviously for rookie. But look, I think
- 4:44Speaker 4: you know, I've talked to a number of coaches that
- 4:45Speaker 4: have played the Browns now and and a lot of them.
- 4:48Speaker 4: As you mentioned DJ talking about the way that they
- 4:50Speaker 4: use j Oka too and just how difficult that is
- 4:53Speaker 4: to deal with just such a great athlete. And then
- 4:55Speaker 4: obviously you know Miles Garrett, you know Jim Schwartz, a
- 4:58Speaker 4: great defensive coach. We tal talked about this a lot.
- 5:01Speaker 4: I think the forty nine ers are going to be okay,
- 5:03Speaker 4: you know, they're not gonna have to see the Browns
- 5:05Speaker 4: again unless they both end up making the Super Bowl,
- 5:07Speaker 4: which which I guess is good for Kyle Shanahan and company.
- 5:10Speaker 1: But you know is hold up, hold up, hold up?
- 5:13Speaker 1: When I interrupted there, you know who runs that exact
- 5:16Speaker 1: same front team that knocked them out of the playoffs
- 5:19Speaker 1: last year.
- 5:20Speaker 4: Yeah, so that's a fair point. That's a fair point.
- 5:24Speaker 4: And you got to you gotta confront your demons at
- 5:26Speaker 4: some point, right, You got.
- 5:27Speaker 1: To figure out a way to do that.
- 5:29Speaker 4: So, you know, is it a different ballgame if Christian
- 5:32Speaker 4: McCaffrey is fully healthy the whole way? Is it a
- 5:34Speaker 4: different ballgame of Deebo Samuel's there the whole way? Trent
- 5:38Speaker 4: Williams was banged up in this game. Those are some
- 5:39Speaker 4: Marquee players, right, some Marque dudes. But that is a
- 5:42Speaker 4: good team. They should be able to to kind of
- 5:44Speaker 4: account for some of that. And I think you know
- 5:47Speaker 4: the way you guys mentioned that, the way that the
- 5:49Speaker 4: Browns are playing defense with that front, and they've got
- 5:52Speaker 4: the corners for cover one right with you know, Newsom
- 5:55Speaker 4: and Ward and Emerson and you know Emerson gets a
- 5:57Speaker 4: pick in this game. It was all working for Cleveland, John,
- 6:02Speaker 4: But but I want to get the Bucky on this though,
- 6:04Speaker 4: real quick. Two things Number one McCaffrey missing time, which
- 6:08Speaker 4: was something we've kind of warned about on here with.
- 6:11Speaker 2: The usage like hey, let's talk about it, talk about
- 6:14Speaker 2: it explosurely.
- 6:14Speaker 3: We're talked about it other weeks.
- 6:16Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, there's time. You pick your spots with him, Man,
- 6:19Speaker 1: pick your spots when you're when you're handling teams. Get
- 6:21Speaker 1: him out of this.
- 6:21Speaker 3: It's so tempting though.
- 6:23Speaker 2: He's so good that you don't want to take him
- 6:26Speaker 2: out DJ like you're running up and down and as
- 6:29Speaker 2: an offensive play call that you're sitting there like, man,
- 6:31Speaker 2: he makes all the x's and o's come to life.
- 6:34Speaker 2: Look at me, I'm the wizard because I have CMC
- 6:37Speaker 2: running around like crazy.
- 6:38Speaker 3: But you're right, you got to protect him against himself.
- 6:42Speaker 1: No, and look in this game, and we talk about pertty,
- 6:44Speaker 1: I mean pretty the numbers aren't aren't great twelve, one
- 6:47Speaker 1: hundred and twenty five, a touchdown and a pick rhtt
- 6:50Speaker 1: gave him credit on the drive, no question. The other
- 6:52Speaker 1: thing is, Man, I know Shanahan lamented a couple that
- 6:55Speaker 1: they missed, and when I went back and watched it,
- 6:58Speaker 1: I think I know the two that he was talking about.
- 6:59Speaker 1: He had a post h in the first half. He
- 7:03Speaker 1: got it out early, he anticipated, he got it out,
- 7:05Speaker 1: he just missed it. And then they had McCaffrey on
- 7:07Speaker 1: something that you probably spend weeks uh setting up where Buck.
- 7:12Speaker 1: I don't know if you've got a chance to see
- 7:13Speaker 1: it yet, but it's like he starts chopping his feet,
- 7:16Speaker 1: like he releases to the flat, chops his feet, and
- 7:18Speaker 1: you're I've seen this angle route one hundred times, chops
- 7:22Speaker 1: his feet and then hits a vertical and it's it's
- 7:24Speaker 1: he's gone. It's a touchdown, and pretty overthrew him by
- 7:27Speaker 1: a few yards, missed him would have been a home
- 7:29Speaker 1: run ball. So they had a couple of schemed winners.
- 7:31Speaker 1: In there. They didn't hit that. That's uh, you know,
- 7:33Speaker 1: that's not something I would be overly concerned about. But
- 7:36Speaker 1: the other thing is, and this will want to get
- 7:38Speaker 1: to you on buck you and go wherever you want,
- 7:39Speaker 1: but hit on this. I remember this from joint practices.
- 7:44Speaker 1: I've seen it with my own eyes when they were
- 7:45Speaker 1: with the Chargers, and I've heard from other people when
- 7:48Speaker 1: they're going up against them, which is you'd be surprised
- 7:51Speaker 1: you get to one on ones with the wide outs
- 7:53Speaker 1: and the DB's they don't win a ton. Like Brandon
- 7:57Speaker 1: Ayuk is the route runner, he is the dude that
- 7:59Speaker 1: can beat man coverage and then obviously with CMC in
- 8:02Speaker 1: the passing game, he can do that. But like Deebo Samuel,
- 8:06Speaker 1: like even George Kittle a little bit at this point
- 8:07Speaker 1: in time, those guys aren't big, big separators against man
- 8:11Speaker 1: coverage like that. That's why I'm wondering if they start
- 8:13Speaker 1: seeing more teams that want to play this front, want
- 8:15Speaker 1: to go nose to nose and and other thing. Watching
- 8:18Speaker 1: the tape so many times when you're watching games, you
- 8:20Speaker 1: watch them on TV, you'll notice this. But you'll see
- 8:23Speaker 1: emotion and you'll see like pointing and yelling and hooting
- 8:26Speaker 1: and hollering, and everybody goes, oh, look at the communication
- 8:28Speaker 1: in the back end. And I always sit there and
- 8:30Speaker 1: watch that. The good teams don't have to do that.
- 8:32Speaker 1: All that stuff's understood. I know, there's no question, there's
- 8:35Speaker 1: no gray area in assignments no matter what they do
- 8:38Speaker 1: shift motion. I don't even know that I need to
- 8:40Speaker 1: communicate that because we are we're simplified. We know what
- 8:43Speaker 1: we're doing, and there's no panic to it, like that
- 8:45Speaker 1: was you said it, Buck. There was no switching off.
- 8:47Speaker 1: It was just I got him, you got him, let's go.
- 8:50Speaker 3: You know.
- 8:50Speaker 2: DJ is one of the things that you learn when
- 8:52Speaker 2: you watch like the Patriots and Alabama football or whatever,
- 8:54Speaker 2: like when you're able to play that you challenge people
- 8:57Speaker 2: in different ways. We've always marveled the way Kyle Shanahan
- 9:01Speaker 2: schemes up the layups where those layups a lot of
- 9:03Speaker 2: times come against zone coverage because the play action brings
- 9:06Speaker 2: the linebackers to the line of scrimmage. There's these huge
- 9:08Speaker 2: vois at intermediate range and those guys run right over
- 9:11Speaker 2: the middle. They sit on over the ball at fifteen
- 9:13Speaker 2: to eighteen yards and we see it over and over
- 9:15Speaker 2: the thing about man coverage, all that is gone, and
- 9:18Speaker 2: it really forces them to use a different passing game
- 9:23Speaker 2: because all the play action stuff doesn't work because I'm
- 9:25Speaker 2: locked in man, so it doesn't matter what you're doing
- 9:26Speaker 2: in the back end. My eyes are on the wide receiver.
- 9:30Speaker 2: And so it makes Kyle Shanahan go into more of
- 9:32Speaker 2: a dropback game as opposed to a play action game,
- 9:35Speaker 2: and that impacts the way they block up front. That
- 9:38Speaker 2: also impacts the way that Brock Purdy has to throw
- 9:41Speaker 2: because now the playfake does nothing. Now it's about precision,
- 9:45Speaker 2: pinpoint accuracy and those things. And I do believe whenever
- 9:49Speaker 2: someone knocks off somebody that film circulates around the rest
- 9:52Speaker 2: of the league. Even if you don't have the personnel,
- 9:55Speaker 2: they're going to see more man coverage.
- 9:57Speaker 3: And so it's one of those things.
- 9:59Speaker 2: And two, you can I go to show people that
- 10:01Speaker 2: you can defeat what someone is thrown at you to
- 10:04Speaker 2: give you a loss, They're gonna have to work on it.
- 10:06Speaker 2: So now Kyle Shanahan has to get in his back
- 10:08Speaker 2: and have to come over when man beats to help
- 10:10Speaker 2: this team against future opponents.
- 10:12Speaker 1: Yeah, man again, I think Ayuk becomes huge for them.
- 10:16Speaker 1: Because if they're going to see that a bunch, the
- 10:17Speaker 1: ball is going to go to him because he's the
- 10:19Speaker 1: one dude who can really really excel in that situation.
- 10:22Speaker 1: All Right. I spent a lot of time on that one.
- 10:23Speaker 1: I probably went a little too long for us, but
- 10:25Speaker 1: it was a fascinating game.
- 10:27Speaker 2: No, that's that's the game that everybody wants to see.
- 10:30Speaker 1: Well, now we'll get to the other one here in
- 10:33Speaker 1: just a minute, but buck, let's get to the one
- 10:34Speaker 1: that you were at here. The Jags a comfortable one
- 10:38Speaker 1: over the Colts thirty seven to twenty.
- 10:40Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 10:40Speaker 2: So this is crazy because coming into the game, the
- 10:42Speaker 2: Jags are facing their old quarterback, Garner Minshew. So there
- 10:45Speaker 2: was the revenge tour for Garna Minchew coming back. He
- 10:48Speaker 2: was beloved in the town because of the personality and
- 10:51Speaker 2: those things. But here's what I'll tell you about the
- 10:53Speaker 2: Jacksonville Jaguars, and they're different than I even thought. And
- 10:55Speaker 2: it's funny because when you closely follow a team, you're like, Hey,
- 10:58Speaker 2: this team is going to win this because of this
- 11:01Speaker 2: offense and Calvin Ridley and this and that, and they
- 11:04Speaker 2: don't win because of that. They're winning right now because
- 11:06Speaker 2: of their defense. Their defense has fifteen takeaways. They have
- 11:10Speaker 2: four takeaways against the Indianapolis Colts. They are a team
- 11:13Speaker 2: that is somehow hunting the football and getting after it.
- 11:17Speaker 2: And we know this because it always works together. The
- 11:20Speaker 2: pressure and the coverage works together. Josh Allen is having
- 11:24Speaker 2: an outstanding year. He has seven sacks, now eight sacks
- 11:27Speaker 2: or whatever. He's getting after quarterback had a strip sack
- 11:30Speaker 2: early that changed the game.
- 11:31Speaker 3: And then the persistent pressure.
- 11:33Speaker 2: That he's able to generate, and they were able to
- 11:36Speaker 2: get pressure up the gut against a smaller quarterback. The
- 11:38Speaker 2: ball fluttered, went high and then they picked it off
- 11:41Speaker 2: Bray Shawn Jenkins, Andre Cisco and those guys. The Jaguars
- 11:45Speaker 2: are winning because of their defense and what they're having
- 11:48Speaker 2: to do. In turn is played complimentary football, which no
- 11:51Speaker 2: one expected. Thirty seven points, only two hundred and forty
- 11:54Speaker 2: four yards of total offense, not a great offensive performance,
- 11:57Speaker 2: but because the offense, defense and special teams are working
- 12:00Speaker 2: together able to win games.
- 12:02Speaker 4: Complimentary football. You love to see it. And then from
- 12:04Speaker 4: the Colts perspective, you know, I think throwing it with
- 12:08Speaker 4: Gardner Minshew fifty five times, you know, probably isn't what
- 12:12Speaker 4: you're looking for there, but they couldn't run it. And
- 12:15Speaker 4: credit to the Jaguars. I mean, you know, Taylor and
- 12:18Speaker 4: Zach Moss combined for fifteen carries and forty yards. You
- 12:21Speaker 4: know that's that's not winning football right there. And then
- 12:23Speaker 4: obviously you were down big, you know, pretty quickly with
- 12:25Speaker 4: in the turnovers were an issue. And I'm hoping that
- 12:28Speaker 4: this isn't the case. And I think a lot of
- 12:30Speaker 4: times when you see a backup quarterback, you know, come in,
- 12:33Speaker 4: he plays really well in relief, maybe plays well to
- 12:35Speaker 4: start the next game. But the more exposure you get,
- 12:38Speaker 4: oh yeah, the more issues that start to pop up.
- 12:41Speaker 4: And you know, Gardner career high three interceptions. I think
- 12:44Speaker 4: he's going to be okay and he's going to lead
- 12:46Speaker 4: them to some wins this year. You just got to
- 12:48Speaker 4: take care of the football like he's you know, you
- 12:50Speaker 4: just got to understand above all else with that team,
- 12:52Speaker 4: with the Colts DJ, you have to be able to
- 12:55Speaker 4: take care of the football and stay in football game
- 12:57Speaker 4: so you have a chance to be in a position
- 12:59Speaker 4: to win it.
- 12:59Speaker 1: Late. Yeah, I was just going back through Josh Allen's numbers,
- 13:03Speaker 1: so his rookie year ten and a half sacks, then
- 13:06Speaker 1: two and a half in eight games, and twenty and
- 13:08Speaker 1: twenty one seven and a half, then seven last year.
- 13:11Speaker 1: He's already got seven right now this year, so you know,
- 13:15Speaker 1: ten and a half has been kind of his mark.
- 13:17Speaker 1: At sixteen games. He's got seven right now through.
- 13:20Speaker 3: Six They haven't paid him yet.
- 13:23Speaker 1: They haven't paid He's gonna get paid. He's gonna get
- 13:26Speaker 1: paid big, He's gonna get paid. But the other thing
- 13:28Speaker 1: is too. I also think, you know, if you take
- 13:31Speaker 1: out that first year that those kind of seven sacks seasons,
- 13:34Speaker 1: he's kind of been in that zone. I firmly believe, man,
- 13:38Speaker 1: there's there's kind of a light coming on. There's another
- 13:41Speaker 1: level that some of these guys can get to when
- 13:43Speaker 1: you have the traits in the work ethic, which by
- 13:45Speaker 1: all accounts he absolutely does. He's learning, he's figuring this
- 13:49Speaker 1: thing out. You're not even I think everybody thinks, oh either,
- 13:52Speaker 1: you know, maybe the second year you'll have it all
- 13:54Speaker 1: figured out. Like sometimes it can be really really good
- 13:56Speaker 1: player for the first two, three, four years, and all
- 13:58Speaker 1: of a sudden, some other thing clicks from a technique
- 14:00Speaker 1: standpoint or experience standpoint, and there's another level, and that's
- 14:04Speaker 1: clearly what's happened with him, it is happening.
- 14:06Speaker 2: And also the consistency of the coaching right, so you
- 14:10Speaker 2: think about the numerous coaching changes that it had multiple coaches.
- 14:14Speaker 2: Every d line coach brings in a different philosophy of
- 14:16Speaker 2: how to get to the quarterback. And so now you
- 14:18Speaker 2: have Brentson Buckler, who's there at Gilbert is also there
- 14:21Speaker 2: you have might callwell a decoordinator. Rhett alluded to why
- 14:25Speaker 2: the coach had a tough time running the ball. So
- 14:27Speaker 2: the Jaguars on early downs, they deploy a five man front,
- 14:30Speaker 2: and so what they did and one of the reasons
- 14:32Speaker 2: why they wanted Trayvon Walker is they have Trayvon Walker
- 14:34Speaker 2: as a stand up in in a five man front
- 14:37Speaker 2: with three big bodies on the interior, so as Trademon
- 14:39Speaker 2: walk on one side, josh Yll on the other side.
- 14:41Speaker 2: So on early towns, no double teams, no combo blocks,
- 14:45Speaker 2: you can't. It's man oh man, and they're beating you
- 14:47Speaker 2: at the point of attack. And so for all the
- 14:48Speaker 2: criticism that Trayvon Walker gets for not putting up the
- 14:51Speaker 2: sack numbers, his value is really he's a dominant and
- 14:54Speaker 2: disruptive run stopper. Now, I would say you typically don't
- 14:57Speaker 2: take number one pick.
- 14:58Speaker 3: Overall that, but that's what it is.
- 15:01Speaker 2: But that five man front allows them to stop to run,
- 15:04Speaker 2: and they've been really good at get stopping the run,
- 15:06Speaker 2: and that has made them force teams do be one dimensional.
- 15:09Speaker 3: And you're seeing the turnovers result from you're having to throw.
- 15:12Speaker 2: It thirty five to forty five times and they're just
- 15:15Speaker 2: playing the odds that at some point you don't have
- 15:17Speaker 2: an airy pass and a tip and overthrows gon lead
- 15:19Speaker 2: to an interception.
- 15:20Speaker 1: Well, that's exactly what's happened, the turnovers in a big way.
- 15:22Speaker 1: As you mentioned a little bit earlier. Rhtt, I think,
- 15:25Speaker 1: what do you got? Lions Bucks?
- 15:27Speaker 4: Yeah, Lions Bucks. Yeah. And look, I think when you
- 15:29Speaker 4: look at this game, you know, for the for the
- 15:32Speaker 4: it was a kind of a tale of expectations, right,
- 15:33Speaker 4: the Lions living up to high expectations that were placed
- 15:37Speaker 4: upon them coming into the season, and then the Bucks
- 15:39Speaker 4: I think were exceeding expectations the way that they played,
- 15:42Speaker 4: the way that Baker had played well for the Bucks.
- 15:44Speaker 4: That obviously did not happen in this game. They lose
- 15:47Speaker 4: twenty to six. I'm gonna take this from the Bucks perspective,
- 15:49Speaker 4: and I'll get to Lions here just a sec. And
- 15:52Speaker 4: you know, just kind of looking through some of the
- 15:54Speaker 4: things that popped out to me, the Bucks threw it.
- 15:57Speaker 4: They attempted ten throws from Baker of twenty plus and
- 16:01Speaker 4: only completed two of them. Now, look, those are those
- 16:03Speaker 4: aren't high percent istro. So I'm not necessarily worried about
- 16:06Speaker 4: the percentages. And a lot of them were late in
- 16:07Speaker 4: the fourth quarter and they were trying to make a comeback.
- 16:09Speaker 4: But the issue is that there were plays to be
- 16:11Speaker 4: made there and they weren't. You know, I don't think
- 16:15Speaker 4: Baker was at his best. He admitted. He said as
- 16:17Speaker 4: much after the game. I think, you know, stand up,
- 16:19Speaker 4: stand up dude for doing that, because I think he
- 16:21Speaker 4: could have been a lot better and had this team
- 16:23Speaker 4: in a better position. The very first play from scrimmage
- 16:26Speaker 4: on offense for the Bucks, they've got Mike Evans for
- 16:30Speaker 4: a ninety five yard touchdown and Baker has it tipped
- 16:34Speaker 4: at the line by Isaiah Bugs and picked right there,
- 16:38Speaker 4: and so the Lions that's essentially a ten point swing.
- 16:40Speaker 4: That's a set that is a no doubter touchdown for
- 16:43Speaker 4: Mike Evans, so it's seven to nothing. Instead Lions actually
- 16:46Speaker 4: only get a field goal out of it, so it
- 16:47Speaker 4: ends up being a ten point swing there, and it
- 16:49Speaker 4: kind of went downhill and then, you know, what is
- 16:52Speaker 4: one of the things that we said about Baker in
- 16:54Speaker 4: terms of the way he throws the ball. He's got
- 16:56Speaker 4: a he's got a really strong arm, right, but he
- 16:59Speaker 4: is all gas from the upper body. You don't see
- 17:01Speaker 4: as much from the lower body with him. Went back
- 17:04Speaker 4: and looked at at one of those deep throws in
- 17:05Speaker 4: the fourth quarter, they're at the twenty nine yard line
- 17:08Speaker 4: going in. He's got a he does a nice job
- 17:11Speaker 4: with his eyes. He's got a single single high safety
- 17:14Speaker 4: drifts off to the opposite side, opening up maybe a
- 17:16Speaker 4: ten yard window for number two on the right side
- 17:19Speaker 4: to run a vertical into the end zone. And I mean,
- 17:21Speaker 4: this is like, it's not an easy throw, but it's
- 17:23Speaker 4: one he absolutely should and could make. He's got a
- 17:25Speaker 4: clean pocket and just tries to whip it with the
- 17:28Speaker 4: arm and it just flutters and hangs up there, and
- 17:32Speaker 4: you know, the backside corner is able to come come
- 17:35Speaker 4: over close on it and make a play on it,
- 17:37Speaker 4: which should have been a touchdown. So there's you know,
- 17:39Speaker 4: a couple of touchdowns right there, and they end up
- 17:41Speaker 4: losing by fourteen points, and you're looking at this thing like,
- 17:44Speaker 4: you know, all right, the tipball, you know, that's you know,
- 17:46Speaker 4: maybe bad luck whatever, but man, they had some they
- 17:49Speaker 4: had some opportunities in this game and they didn't get
- 17:52Speaker 4: it done. And then for the Lions, you know, Buck,
- 17:54Speaker 4: this is what this team does. Jamiir Gibbs is already out,
- 17:58Speaker 4: David Montgomery goes out on a screen pass early in
- 18:01Speaker 4: the game and can't go, and Craig Reynolds, the third
- 18:04Speaker 4: running back, comes in. It maybe makes the play of
- 18:06Speaker 4: the game in the block of the week, right on
- 18:09Speaker 4: a Monro Saint Brown crossing route, he catches it. You
- 18:12Speaker 4: see Reynolds come in. I mean you've seen it now
- 18:13Speaker 4: one hundred times probably. You know, Reynolds comes from out
- 18:17Speaker 4: of the screen and he's like a bowling ball at
- 18:19Speaker 4: the end of the lane, knocking down Bucks like like
- 18:22Speaker 4: you know, just reckless abandon and a Monro Saint Brown
- 18:26Speaker 4: ends up scoring. I just think again. You know, even
- 18:28Speaker 4: when they're not at their best, they are a gritty, physical,
- 18:31Speaker 4: tough team that can be explosive. But when they're not.
- 18:35Speaker 4: They use that grit and toughness to kind of stay
- 18:38Speaker 4: the course and find a way to win.
- 18:40Speaker 3: Yeah, they stayed a course.
- 18:41Speaker 2: And I'll say this about Jerry Goff to me, has
- 18:43Speaker 2: been the most impressive part of it. Like the guy
- 18:46Speaker 2: that we've tried to replace in multiple mock drafts in
- 18:48Speaker 2: multiple years, continues to kind of be like the franchise
- 18:51Speaker 2: quarterback that they needed. Yesterday Sunday was a game where
- 18:56Speaker 2: they needed him to be at a high level. The
- 18:58Speaker 2: guy has a solid game, three hundred and fifty three yards,
- 19:01Speaker 2: has two touchdowns, aman Ras Saint Brown, you.
- 19:03Speaker 3: Just talked about them, twelve catches two to four yards,
- 19:06Speaker 3: and then Jamison Williams. We had a Jason Williamson side.
- 19:12Speaker 2: That catch was as hard as it can come to
- 19:14Speaker 2: look over too.
- 19:18Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, look great. Great.
- 19:21Speaker 2: But here's what I love and can appreciate about the Lions.
- 19:25Speaker 2: The Lions have assemblar really really tough team with players
- 19:28Speaker 2: that are tough and gritty. They've upgraded the talent level
- 19:31Speaker 2: and the people that they brought in fit what they
- 19:35Speaker 2: want to be. Eight and Hutcherson is all day high
- 19:38Speaker 2: motor socker. You look at some of the other guys
- 19:40Speaker 2: that they brought in. Those guys are are high motor, tough,
- 19:44Speaker 2: grizzled players, and quietly, this team is developing the confidence
- 19:48Speaker 2: where they feel like they can go toe to toe.
- 19:50Speaker 2: When you look at their their wins. They have a
- 19:52Speaker 2: win against the Kan City Chiefs. There's not going to
- 19:55Speaker 2: be a team that they fear going forward. And so
- 19:58Speaker 2: we may talk about them like a couple of years ago,
- 20:01Speaker 2: like the Cincinnati Bengals road the magic carpet ride to
- 20:04Speaker 2: the Super Bowl. It's not out of the question that
- 20:06Speaker 2: the Detroit Lions are one of those teams that we're
- 20:08Speaker 2: talking about kind of finding a way to the final
- 20:10Speaker 2: four of the tournament, maybe making it in They.
- 20:12Speaker 4: Still got five games left than in the Division DJ
- 20:14Speaker 4: in nine division.
- 20:16Speaker 1: Oh yeah, there's a lot. There's a lot still to
- 20:18Speaker 1: be decided here inside this division. But I wanted I
- 20:22Speaker 1: pulled up a couple numbers because I wanted to point
- 20:24Speaker 1: them out here. So we talk about golf. Golf had
- 20:27Speaker 1: a great game this offense. Last year, I averaged twenty
- 20:32Speaker 1: seven point five points a game. This year they're averaging
- 20:35Speaker 1: twenty eight points a game. So okay, it's that's a
- 20:39Speaker 1: huge number that puts them up in the top ten
- 20:40Speaker 1: of the league. But there's there's just a little little
- 20:43Speaker 1: improvement there. This defense last year was given up twenty
- 20:46Speaker 1: five point one points a game. This year they're giving
- 20:49Speaker 1: up eighteen point eight. They are a touchdown better on
- 20:52Speaker 1: the defensive side of the ball. That to me is
- 20:54Speaker 1: a story of this Lions team, and that's why they've
- 20:57Speaker 1: entered into the elite echelon of the NFL.
- 20:59Speaker 2: And it's not only that DJ like in a league
- 21:01Speaker 2: that we talked about being a pass happy league.
- 21:03Speaker 3: They're crushing people in the running game.
- 21:06Speaker 2: They have not given up over one hundred yards in
- 21:08Speaker 2: any of the six games. And so what happens You're
- 21:10Speaker 2: now playing one dimensional against a team that has a
- 21:13Speaker 2: pass rusher in Aiden Hutchinson cover guys in terms of
- 21:16Speaker 2: all the new guys that they brought in, they play
- 21:18Speaker 2: a lot of man coverage and they challenge you, and
- 21:20Speaker 2: like you said, we're finding out there are a lot
- 21:22Speaker 2: of receivers that cannot win one on one on the outside.
- 21:25Speaker 4: And by the way, the last time that they didn't
- 21:27Speaker 4: allow a one hundred yard rushing output in six straight games,
- 21:32Speaker 4: they were called the Portsmouth Spartans.
- 21:35Speaker 1: Nice night, it's been a minute. It's been a minute.
- 21:38Speaker 1: Good nug shout out to the research department.
- 21:40Speaker 3: On that one.
- 21:41Speaker 1: Yeah done.
- 21:44Speaker 4: It was the Lions research department.
- 21:47Speaker 1: To put it out.
- 21:48Speaker 3: That was great, That was great.
- 21:50Speaker 1: All Right, we're gonna take a quick break. We come back.
- 21:52Speaker 1: We'll get to the other big, big game of the weekend.
- 21:54Speaker 1: That was the Jets Eagles game. We'll jump into that
- 21:56Speaker 1: one right after this. All right, the other undefeated team,
- 22:04Speaker 1: there were only two, and they both went down in
- 22:07Speaker 1: games against backup quarterbacks too. If you think about Aaron
- 22:09Speaker 1: Rodgers being the starter at the beginning of the season
- 22:12Speaker 1: for four plays before handing it off to Zach Wilson. Obviously,
- 22:16Speaker 1: brock Perty we discussed a little bit earlier losing to PJ. Walker,
- 22:19Speaker 1: But in this game, the Eagles they I mean, you could,
- 22:22Speaker 1: we can. We'll get to the Jets and we'll talk
- 22:24Speaker 1: about them in just a second. I will say this
- 22:26Speaker 1: felt like a stubborn loss for the Eagles, and that
- 22:31Speaker 1: it felt just run the ball. You've got to lead
- 22:34Speaker 1: early in this game. Run the ball. Make the Jets,
- 22:37Speaker 1: who are missing several offensive linemen, make them have to
- 22:40Speaker 1: travel the length of the field. Your front has been dominant,
- 22:43Speaker 1: You're just getting after the quarterback like crazy in this game. Instead, Man,
- 22:47Speaker 1: it was the turnovers, one after another after another, and
- 22:51Speaker 1: then at the very end, Buck, I mean that one
- 22:56Speaker 1: where you could run the ball, choose some clock and
- 22:58Speaker 1: finish the game punt, make them have to drive. Instead,
- 23:01Speaker 1: you throw a pick. Are you kidding me? It felt
- 23:03Speaker 1: like a stubborn approach on the Eagle side of the things.
- 23:07Speaker 2: I feel like it's been like that all year for
- 23:09Speaker 2: the Eagles. I feel like the Eagles are trying to
- 23:11Speaker 2: prove that there's something that they're not. And sometimes that
- 23:14Speaker 2: happens when you pay the quarterback. There's a feeling of
- 23:17Speaker 2: we need to justify There needs to be a justification
- 23:20Speaker 2: for why we paid him, or we need to validate
- 23:22Speaker 2: why he's two hundred and fifty two into the whole
- 23:25Speaker 2: whatever that is. This team can run on anybody. They
- 23:28Speaker 2: proven that they can run on everybody. They could run.
- 23:31Speaker 2: I just don't understand why the cuteness comes into it.
- 23:35Speaker 2: They take to me unnecessary gambles, They go for it
- 23:38Speaker 2: on fourth down when they don't need to.
- 23:40Speaker 3: I just can't understand why.
- 23:43Speaker 2: And I heard Nick Sirianni after the game, so he
- 23:46Speaker 2: didn't have to say anything to the team. The player
- 23:47Speaker 2: stood up and talked about accountability and all those things.
- 23:51Speaker 3: And I get that the players need to.
- 23:52Speaker 2: Be accountable, but coach need to be accountable too. Man,
- 23:54Speaker 2: just get to win. It doesn't matter what it looks like.
- 23:56Speaker 3: Just get to win.
- 23:57Speaker 4: So let me ask you this, from what you saw,
- 24:00Speaker 4: was it a couldn't run it or wouldn't run it situation?
- 24:05Speaker 4: Because look, the Jets defense is pretty stout now with
- 24:07Speaker 4: Quinn Williams up there.
- 24:09Speaker 1: CJ.
- 24:09Speaker 4: Moseley had a terrific at Quincy Williams two. They were
- 24:12Speaker 4: all over the football in this one. So would you
- 24:14Speaker 4: say it was more just they they didn't or they
- 24:17Speaker 4: really couldn't.
- 24:18Speaker 1: No, I think it was a choice. I mean, I'll
- 24:21Speaker 1: pull up the numbers here. But I watched the game,
- 24:23Speaker 1: went back and watched it on tape. They had some
- 24:25Speaker 1: they had some pops that they could run it a
- 24:27Speaker 1: little bit. They just they just got away from it.
- 24:28Speaker 1: And that one, I don't care if you get stuffed
- 24:30Speaker 1: at the line of scrimmage. If you get stuffed the
- 24:32Speaker 1: line of scrimmage and have the punt, you still run
- 24:34Speaker 1: that ball on that particular down. So, uh, you know. Look,
- 24:38Speaker 1: they they they averaged three point six yards of carry, so,
- 24:42Speaker 1: you know, and a lot of that's coming with with
- 24:44Speaker 1: Jalen Hurtz, who was their most successful runner.
- 24:47Speaker 4: Yeah, its scrimswift.
- 24:48Speaker 1: Swift didn't do anything. But I mean that's that's the
- 24:51Speaker 1: whole point. If you've got Jalen Hurts, who you're given
- 24:53Speaker 1: eight carries too, I mean, he's proven he can kind
- 24:56Speaker 1: of be that eight to twelve carry guy. At the
- 24:58Speaker 1: end of the game, you're running quarterback power whatever you
- 25:01Speaker 1: have to do at that point in time to chew
- 25:03Speaker 1: the clock and try and finish the game off. But
- 25:05Speaker 1: they didn't do it. Now, I want to jump over
- 25:07Speaker 1: to the Jets side because I want to spend too
- 25:09Speaker 1: much time with the Eagles, because this was completely about
- 25:11Speaker 1: the Jets and their defense and what they were able
- 25:13Speaker 1: to do. I wanted to pull up this number here.
- 25:16Speaker 1: Let's see, Okay, pressure percentage, right, this is which is
- 25:20Speaker 1: a great number. We can talk about sacks and that's
- 25:23Speaker 1: you know, that's great, but how much pressure are you
- 25:25Speaker 1: applying to the quarterback? Listen to these names here, who
- 25:28Speaker 1: are I'll work from five up to one in pressure percentage.
- 25:31Speaker 1: This is a minimum hundred snaps okay through PFF on
- 25:35Speaker 1: pressure percentage. Number five is Max Crosby. You think we
- 25:37Speaker 1: would all agree he's an elite player. Number four is
- 25:40Speaker 1: DeMarcus Lawrence, who's been a disruptor, disruptive guy in this
- 25:44Speaker 1: league who's been paid. Number three is his teammate, Michah
- 25:47Speaker 1: Parsons and those numbers. Michah Parsons is at twenty three
- 25:51Speaker 1: or where is it here? No, Michaeh Parsons is at
- 25:53Speaker 1: twenty one point one percent. Number two is Miles Garrett.
- 25:58Speaker 1: All right, so where are the odds on this list?
- 26:00Speaker 1: These are all elite guys. Miles Garrett widely considered the best.
- 26:04Speaker 1: If not him, then Parsons. Those are two and three
- 26:05Speaker 1: at twenty one point one and twenty two point two.
- 26:09Speaker 1: Bryce Huff is number one in the league in pressure
- 26:12Speaker 1: percentage and he's at twenty eight point nine percent. He's say,
- 26:18Speaker 1: are you kidding me? He's over six percent above Miles
- 26:21Speaker 1: Garrett eight and Micah Parsons Like that is insane.
- 26:24Speaker 4: Let me ask you what's his what's his sample size
- 26:27Speaker 4: on that compared to the other guys.
- 26:29Speaker 1: Yeah, I'll pull it up right now.
- 26:31Speaker 4: So this only because I'm just saying, like, you know,
- 26:33Speaker 4: he's got probably got the ability to be pretty fresh
- 26:36Speaker 4: with the way that they can run.
- 26:37Speaker 1: So he's rushed, He's rushed one hundred and fourteen times. Yeah,
- 26:41Speaker 1: Miles Garrett has rushed one hundred and thirty five times.
- 26:44Speaker 1: That Parsons has rushed one hundred and forty two, Lawrence
- 26:47Speaker 1: one hundred and two. Uh, you know, so he's you
- 26:50Speaker 1: know Max Crosby's he's rushed two hundred and twenty one snatchez.
- 26:54Speaker 1: Uh So, yeah, he's the one who's every snack. He's
- 26:58Speaker 1: playing a ton, so you could probably give him a
- 27:00Speaker 1: little benefit that his should be even higher. I mean
- 27:03Speaker 1: that when you look at the percentag there's no doubt
- 27:04Speaker 1: that he is a little bit lower because he's rushed
- 27:06Speaker 1: so much, But he's not that far off, you know,
- 27:09Speaker 1: from those other guys in terms of attempts and buck
- 27:12Speaker 1: It just shows you too, there's always going to be
- 27:15Speaker 1: a premium on fastballs, like he's got a little bit
- 27:18Speaker 1: of power to him, but making no mistake, he is
- 27:20Speaker 1: winning with speed and agility off the edge.
- 27:23Speaker 2: It's beIN agility, like that's the one thing you don't
- 27:26Speaker 2: have to have a lot of different pitches in your bag.
- 27:28Speaker 2: You just have to have one that is dominant and
- 27:30Speaker 2: that speed kills because what it does is changes everything.
- 27:33Speaker 2: It changes how the person has to set and you
- 27:35Speaker 2: have to kick, then you set up other things. It's
- 27:37Speaker 2: just so much that you can do. It's funny in
- 27:40Speaker 2: a league where we just talk about coveting pass rushers
- 27:43Speaker 2: and passers and those things. Ye after year, it's the
- 27:46Speaker 2: elite guys, the guys with elite witness, and I think
- 27:49Speaker 2: there's something to be learned from that when it comes
- 27:52Speaker 2: to when we get to the spring and we're looking
- 27:54Speaker 2: at these guys, there's certain traits that translate the sac
- 27:57Speaker 2: production and we just got to continue to identify him
- 27:59Speaker 2: and talk about it over and over and over again.
- 28:02Speaker 2: Kind of like I said, blinking light at the stops
- 28:04Speaker 2: on and.
- 28:05Speaker 1: I want to I want to flip over again. Dominant
- 28:07Speaker 1: from the from the Jets defense, taking the ball away,
- 28:09Speaker 1: rushing the pass, or they were all over the field.
- 28:11Speaker 1: Quincy Williams is going to be, if not a for
- 28:14Speaker 1: sure a pro bowler, he might be an all pro
- 28:16Speaker 1: the way he's playing. He's been awesome at the second
- 28:18Speaker 1: level of the defense. Offensively, you know there's there's growth
- 28:22Speaker 1: right with with Zach Wilson. I think we from what
- 28:25Speaker 1: we've all seen, we've all seen him getting better. Now
- 28:27Speaker 1: does that mean he's playing great? No, there's still there's
- 28:30Speaker 1: still when I watch the tape, he's still missing some things.
- 28:32Speaker 1: He's not seeing everything clearly. But I'll tell you what
- 28:35Speaker 1: he's he's learned from the point of the difference between
- 28:39Speaker 1: a taking a bad sack and turn and making a
- 28:42Speaker 1: bad turnover is immense. You can say, okay, those are
- 28:45Speaker 1: both negatives in the grade book, but buck Man, there
- 28:48Speaker 1: is when you get a chance to maintain possession and
- 28:51Speaker 1: kick threes. In this league right now, there's so much parody.
- 28:53Speaker 1: We've only got three teams with the losing record in
- 28:56Speaker 1: the AFC, And I was talking to something about this morning. Man,
- 28:59Speaker 1: if you kick field punt, don't turn the ball over,
- 29:02Speaker 1: I mean, you're gonna be five hundred or above in
- 29:04Speaker 1: this league because people are gonna lose games. They're gonna lose.
- 29:07Speaker 3: Them, man.
- 29:07Speaker 2: Marty Seanham used to stand in front of the team
- 29:09Speaker 2: and say this all the time. More games are lost
- 29:11Speaker 2: than one. Guys, if you can just figure out how
- 29:13Speaker 2: not to give the game away to the other team,
- 29:16Speaker 2: they'll just find a way to give it to you.
- 29:17Speaker 2: So if you don't turn it over, you don't allow
- 29:19Speaker 2: big plays, big passes, the flow over your head, you
- 29:21Speaker 2: don't have dumb and stupid penalties. And if you win
- 29:24Speaker 2: the kicking game, you are going to be in a
- 29:27Speaker 2: lot of games, and ultimately you will win a lot
- 29:29Speaker 2: of those games. And to me, coming from a coach
- 29:31Speaker 2: that won two hundred regular season games, every time I
- 29:33Speaker 2: look at the league, particularly now, the way the parody
- 29:36Speaker 2: has made it where every game is an eight point
- 29:38Speaker 2: or fewer game, he just.
- 29:40Speaker 3: Don't mess it up.
- 29:42Speaker 2: If you don't mess it up, you're going to win
- 29:44Speaker 2: four more games than you lose.
- 29:46Speaker 1: He's got one pick in his last four games. So
- 29:51Speaker 1: and we can say he's still missing some things. Like
- 29:53Speaker 1: I said, there's some he left some things out there.
- 29:55Speaker 1: But I do think what this has done is he's
- 29:58Speaker 1: he needed to play, He needs get experienced, he needs
- 30:01Speaker 1: to see things, he needs to learn from things. And
- 30:03Speaker 1: the problem is when you turn the ball over as
- 30:05Speaker 1: much as he had been, he's in and out of
- 30:06Speaker 1: the lineup. You can't play him. So now it's like, okay, hey,
- 30:10Speaker 1: we can deal with hey on that sack A you
- 30:12Speaker 1: know if we can get that ball, throw it away.
- 30:14Speaker 1: Those are lessons we can learn. But if you're frazzled
- 30:16Speaker 1: and throwing red zone interceptions and costing us points repeatedly,
- 30:20Speaker 1: like I can't keep putting you out there for you
- 30:21Speaker 1: to learn this stuff.
- 30:23Speaker 2: I'll say this, Aaron Rodgers coming over was worth his
- 30:26Speaker 2: wait and go, not only in just his four plays
- 30:28Speaker 2: that he played before he got hurt, but what he's
- 30:30Speaker 2: been able to do with Zach Wilson, He's been the
- 30:32Speaker 2: best quarterback coach that he could ever have because every
- 30:34Speaker 2: day he got a chance to not unless see Aaron
- 30:35Speaker 2: Rodgers prepare. But we know that Aaron Rodgers was a
- 30:38Speaker 2: low turnover guy. He's a winning quarterback. So all of that,
- 30:42Speaker 2: all of those like whispers in his ear, take care
- 30:45Speaker 2: of the ball.
- 30:45Speaker 3: This is when you throw It's made him a better
- 30:47Speaker 3: quick look.
- 30:48Speaker 2: He may never live up to a play up to
- 30:50Speaker 2: what he was the second pick overall, but he certainly
- 30:53Speaker 2: can be a functional starter for a team that is
- 30:56Speaker 2: loaded on defense. And I think he's done enough now
- 31:00Speaker 2: that if you're the Gets, you're like, no, no, we
- 31:01Speaker 2: can keep Zack Wilson. We can keep Zack Wilson and
- 31:04Speaker 2: find a path for him to be the starting quarterback
- 31:06Speaker 2: going forward. To me, it's been a win win situation
- 31:09Speaker 2: for the Jets and the fact that they're sitting at
- 31:10Speaker 2: with three and three or whatever.
- 31:11Speaker 1: Three and three not the bye. Yeah, another thing out,
- 31:14Speaker 1: Oh real quick, Rett, I was gonna get you on
- 31:16Speaker 1: this real quick. The other thing that stood out to me, Man,
- 31:18Speaker 1: they're he said, remember when he got hurt, when Rogers
- 31:22Speaker 1: got hurt, and we said, oh, okay, thirteen personnel, Like
- 31:25Speaker 1: that's their answer here because you can run the ball
- 31:28Speaker 1: out of that. It's going to give you simplified looks.
- 31:30Speaker 1: You're gonna get one on ones with Garrett Wilson. They
- 31:32Speaker 1: really don't. I mean, Lazard dropped the ball, he had
- 31:35Speaker 1: a big penalty. I'm not a huge Lazard fan, like
- 31:39Speaker 1: he's okay, Randall Cobb just I mean, those are Aaron
- 31:42Speaker 1: Rodgers type players. But they've got one true receiver. I mean,
- 31:45Speaker 1: they missed Corey Davis with him retiring. But thirteen personnel
- 31:50Speaker 1: is the answer to a lot of these problems. And
- 31:52Speaker 1: this is the game where they busted that out more.
- 31:54Speaker 1: And then when you're not in thirteen getting empty, just
- 31:57Speaker 1: getting empty, and let's let him get the ball out
- 31:59Speaker 1: of his hand quick. And that was something I saw
- 32:02Speaker 1: in this game. And I'm sitting here watching this going
- 32:06Speaker 1: you know, geez, like that's just just just use the
- 32:09Speaker 1: tight ends. And Rutger to me, is the one who
- 32:12Speaker 1: I think has got a chance to be somebody that's
- 32:13Speaker 1: a real big part of this thing. And he's better.
- 32:15Speaker 1: He's more talented than those other two. I like Conklin
- 32:18Speaker 1: Uzama's kind of more of an inline guy. Rutgert's got
- 32:20Speaker 1: a chance to be really good. I think his role
- 32:22Speaker 1: should increases the season goes along.
- 32:24Speaker 4: Yeah, I appreciate you bringing up my nightmare from this weekend.
- 32:27Speaker 4: Michigan lived in thirteen personnel all day long. I gottall, Hey,
- 32:35Speaker 4: how about Aaron Rodgers. I mean they're talking about him
- 32:39Speaker 4: coming back to the last quarter.
- 32:40Speaker 1: Of the season, modern modern, modern medicine.
- 32:43Speaker 2: So seeing him pre game throwing the ball around, what
- 32:48Speaker 2: what are you doing?
- 32:49Speaker 3: Like?
- 32:51Speaker 1: You can't watch that and tell me he's not coming
- 32:53Speaker 1: back this year. He's coming back a hundred percent. Do
- 32:56Speaker 1: you remember? Yes, I got to look it up, but
- 33:00Speaker 1: uh do you remember when? Uh? When? What's his name? Why?
- 33:04Speaker 1: Cam Akers? When he came back in like six months though,
- 33:07Speaker 1: is that what it was? Six months, which was still
- 33:09Speaker 1: which was which was crazy fact incredible. Yeah, And I
- 33:13Speaker 1: remember thinking that. I remember thinking like, he's gonna be hobbled,
- 33:16Speaker 1: and and I was like he looked as as explosive
- 33:19Speaker 1: as I'd ever seen him when he came back from that.
- 33:21Speaker 1: I just think that with medically, they have got ways
- 33:23Speaker 1: to do this.
- 33:24Speaker 2: So now I'm saying, I'm saying, like four months to
- 33:25Speaker 2: put him at the end of December January, like if
- 33:29Speaker 2: they can kind of hold on.
- 33:31Speaker 1: And I mean, he's not gonna have to wear and
- 33:32Speaker 1: tear on his body of the part we're talking about
- 33:33Speaker 1: running back like he doesn't need I mean, he just
- 33:36Speaker 1: needs to sit back in a rocking chair and pitch
- 33:38Speaker 1: the ball around sitting there.
- 33:40Speaker 2: When Dan Marino came back, he just said the shotgun
- 33:42Speaker 2: didn't move. I mean, he can be a statue and
- 33:44Speaker 2: just it changed the running game. But just having him
- 33:48Speaker 2: around gives them hope. I think his presence gives everything,
- 33:55Speaker 2: just gives them hope to if we can just hey,
- 33:57Speaker 2: we just get to December kind of close and you
- 33:59Speaker 2: can take us over the top.
- 34:00Speaker 3: I feel like that feeling gives them a little something.
- 34:04Speaker 1: Yeah, even if he didn't end up coming back, just like, hey,
- 34:07Speaker 1: he's going. If they believe he's coming back, it's worthing.
- 34:11Speaker 1: All right, Buck, What do you got for the next one? Here?
- 34:13Speaker 3: Hey?
- 34:14Speaker 1: Man?
- 34:14Speaker 2: The Cincinnati Bengals knocking off the Seattle Seahawks. This is
- 34:16Speaker 2: a game where they had no business winning based on
- 34:18Speaker 2: what they did offensively. They couldn't really move the ball consistently.
- 34:21Speaker 2: They didn't get anything done. Zach Taylor talked about, Hey,
- 34:24Speaker 2: sometimes it's just better to win ugly than to lose pretty,
- 34:27Speaker 2: and that's what is happening.
- 34:29Speaker 3: Their defense stepped up four sacks, had a.
- 34:32Speaker 2: Couple takeaways, had two critical fourth down stops inside the
- 34:35Speaker 2: ten in the last two minutes. Like the Bengals defense,
- 34:39Speaker 2: lou and Roumo doesn't get enough credit for what he's
- 34:41Speaker 2: been able to do. Early in the year they were struggling,
- 34:43Speaker 2: but I think people forgot about the departures that they
- 34:46Speaker 2: had in the secondary. Jesse Bates von Belle didn't love
- 34:50Speaker 2: Eli Apple.
- 34:50Speaker 3: But he was another.
- 34:51Speaker 2: So three fourths of your secondary is gone right away,
- 34:54Speaker 2: and so bringing in those young players, they're beginning to
- 34:57Speaker 2: play better. And then we know upfront, man, they just
- 34:59Speaker 2: got all those energy as a bunny's just getting after it,
- 35:01Speaker 2: hustling and making things happen.
- 35:04Speaker 3: They're in the mix.
- 35:05Speaker 2: I don't know how good this team is, but I
- 35:07Speaker 2: know they're just kind of giving themselves a chance until
- 35:09Speaker 2: Joe Burrow and dead offense can figure it out.
- 35:12Speaker 4: And you know what I'll say is, you know, I
- 35:13Speaker 4: think we've all kind of been caught up in the
- 35:15Speaker 4: Joe Burrow calf situation. And you know, man, if he
- 35:18Speaker 4: could just you know, we talked about it here, can
- 35:19Speaker 4: he just can they hold on right till the bye
- 35:21Speaker 4: week crucial stretch here? Now they're three and three, which
- 35:24Speaker 4: is great, But you know, the one thing that's kind
- 35:26Speaker 4: of flown under the radar here is this is the
- 35:29Speaker 4: last ranked rushing offense in football, dead last. They don't
- 35:33Speaker 4: run it a lot, They're they're way down there in attempts.
- 35:37Speaker 4: And when they do run it, I mean they're way
- 35:40Speaker 4: under four yards to carry right now, which you know,
- 35:42Speaker 4: you look at as kind of like the Mendoza line
- 35:45Speaker 4: for success, right you want to try to stay on
- 35:47Speaker 4: schedule with the run game average about four yards to pop.
- 35:49Speaker 4: They're way down there. Joe Mixon, you know, has been
- 35:52Speaker 4: relatively irrelevant for much of this season. And you know
- 35:57Speaker 4: what the biggest thing that stuck out to me is,
- 35:59Speaker 4: you know, just look at and how PFF looked at
- 36:01Speaker 4: the offensive lineman and Orlando Brown is by far their
- 36:06Speaker 4: lowest graded offensive lineman in the run game. And don't
- 36:11Speaker 4: we kind of agree that that's that's kind of where
- 36:12Speaker 4: he excels.
- 36:14Speaker 1: Yeah, kind of supposed to be it's supposed to be
- 36:16Speaker 1: the good side.
- 36:16Speaker 4: Yeah, And he is by far been their worst in
- 36:19Speaker 4: the run game. And you know, Alex Kappa is kind
- 36:22Speaker 4: of right there with him, which again, you look at
- 36:24Speaker 4: Kappa is like, that's that's a dude who can kind
- 36:26Speaker 4: of mash in the run game. And they're not getting
- 36:28Speaker 4: that right now. So I don't know if it's if
- 36:30Speaker 4: it's commitment or if they're not committed to it because
- 36:32Speaker 4: they know that they're not good at it right now,
- 36:34Speaker 4: one of the two. But there they are putting a
- 36:36Speaker 4: lot of pressure on that pass game.
- 36:38Speaker 1: I looked up our get off numbers, which we do
- 36:41Speaker 1: each and every week on here, because I was curious
- 36:43Speaker 1: where Trey Hendrickson is. Trey Hendrickson, of all the edge
- 36:47Speaker 1: rusher's minimum one hundred snaps number one get off as
- 36:51Speaker 1: Miles Garrett. Number two is Josh Sweat. Number three is
- 36:54Speaker 1: Trey Hendrickson Jrixy get and and that's another one where
- 36:59Speaker 1: Buck I feel like, you know, we again we talk
- 37:03Speaker 1: about and by the way, right behind him is Darryl Taylor,
- 37:06Speaker 1: Brandon Graham, Bryce Huff, Nick Bosa, Hassan Reddick. So it's good,
- 37:09Speaker 1: its stat's good, it matters, but I feel like it's dude,
- 37:14Speaker 1: there's just he knows how to rush man like they're
- 37:17Speaker 1: when you combine if that's the whole thing, Like if
- 37:19Speaker 1: you can combine polish with the get off, like forget it.
- 37:23Speaker 1: Like that's why he's and he doesn't. I feel like
- 37:25Speaker 1: he still doesn't get mentioned like with those other guys.
- 37:28Speaker 1: He's one of the best.
- 37:29Speaker 4: Free agent signings on the defensive side of the ball
- 37:32Speaker 4: in the last ten years. You know how many people
- 37:34Speaker 4: thought that Saints that season he had with the Saints
- 37:36Speaker 4: was a flash in the pan.
- 37:37Speaker 3: That's that's the thing.
- 37:39Speaker 2: There's like a three and a half, a three plus
- 37:41Speaker 2: year sample size of his dominance off the edge, just
- 37:44Speaker 2: one thing to be a one year one. It's another
- 37:46Speaker 2: thing to do it with the Saints, and then everyone's like, ah,
- 37:48Speaker 2: we benefited from being opposite or beside camp Jordan, and
- 37:51Speaker 2: then he goes to Cincinnati first year, bang, second year,
- 37:53Speaker 2: whoa third year We're still talking about it. At some
- 37:56Speaker 2: point you have to give him credit. And you talked
- 37:58Speaker 2: about like the get off and the skill. I think
- 38:01Speaker 2: it's underestimated the competitive stamina that you need to have,
- 38:05Speaker 2: the relentlessness because there's one thing, Oh I'm gonna try
- 38:07Speaker 2: and get here. I don't get home, I'm gonna stop
- 38:09Speaker 2: on the play. But it's another thing to be an
- 38:11Speaker 2: all day sucker where you're just going and going and
- 38:14Speaker 2: going energy in Africa that you fall into two or
- 38:16Speaker 2: three sacks a year. He has that ability, plus what
- 38:19Speaker 2: you talked about, the physical skills and in the Polish
- 38:22Speaker 2: to do it. He's been Look, he's been a huge
- 38:25Speaker 2: addition to their their defense and without him, I can't
- 38:28Speaker 2: even imagine what their defense will little like man, No.
- 38:31Speaker 1: He's getting by the way, look what's the what's their schedule?
- 38:35Speaker 1: Real quick? By the way, Rhett coming out of it,
- 38:36Speaker 1: they got their buy. I think it's brutal coming out
- 38:40Speaker 1: for the Saints. I'm sorry, no, no, no, no, sorry.
- 38:42Speaker 1: For the Bengals, they've got their buy. I know Buffalo,
- 38:45Speaker 1: I believe it.
- 38:46Speaker 4: They got San Francisco Buffalo, an upstart Houston team, and
- 38:52Speaker 4: Baltimore Pittsburgh.
- 38:53Speaker 1: So yeah, they gotta be they better get rested up.
- 38:57Speaker 1: They fought their way to five hundred, which it feels
- 39:00Speaker 1: like the whole AFC is in the same boat. So
- 39:03Speaker 1: it feels like you just got to hang around here,
- 39:05Speaker 1: like if you can get to if you're seven and
- 39:08Speaker 1: I feel like seven and seven, we're gonna have a
- 39:11Speaker 1: bunch of teams at like seven and seven, six and seven,
- 39:14Speaker 1: you know, eight and six, Like it's gonna come down
- 39:17Speaker 1: to the end there. You just got to stay in
- 39:18Speaker 1: the pack. You can't fall behind. You gotta at least
- 39:21Speaker 1: hove around that five hundred and navigate through the difficult
- 39:23Speaker 1: part of your schedule.
- 39:25Speaker 2: Yeah, interesting to see Like this division though, with Baltimore
- 39:31Speaker 2: and Cleveland and Cincinnati and even Pittsburgh. It's gonna be
- 39:34Speaker 2: really interesting to see how this plays out. Really competitive division. Everyone,
- 39:37Speaker 2: No one's playing great, but no bad team in the mix.
- 39:40Speaker 3: Yeah, not a bad team.
- 39:42Speaker 4: I'll get us to Commander's Falcons here, guys. As we
- 39:47Speaker 4: get to a couple more games here and look, you
- 39:50Speaker 4: know this is man the faces of Arthur Smith. If
- 39:56Speaker 4: you if you've ever seen a facial expression spell frustration,
- 40:00Speaker 4: just go back and look at at what Arthur Smith
- 40:02Speaker 4: was given to you on the sidelines here watching Desmond Ridder,
- 40:05Speaker 4: particularly in the second half, and this is this is
- 40:08Speaker 4: the game again, Like you look at the box score
- 40:10Speaker 4: in this thing, and you're like, how in the world
- 40:12Speaker 4: did the Falcons lose? They had thirteen more first downs,
- 40:14Speaker 4: they ran thirty more plays than the Commanders, They outgained
- 40:18Speaker 4: them by two hundred yards. The Atlanta defense kept the
- 40:21Speaker 4: Commanders under two hundred total yards and Atlanta was still
- 40:25Speaker 4: trailing by two touchdowns to start the fourth quarter. Well,
- 40:28Speaker 4: turn it over on downs twice and you throw three
- 40:29Speaker 4: picks on the second half and they can start to
- 40:32Speaker 4: fall apart pretty quickly. So I think with Desmond Rider
- 40:34Speaker 4: of what we've come to the conclusion is he is
- 40:36Speaker 4: not yet nearly to the point where you can count
- 40:38Speaker 4: on clean games from him consistently. You know, he had
- 40:40Speaker 4: a good game last week and we're praising him for it,
- 40:43Speaker 4: and then comes back and it's you know, it's a stinker,
- 40:45Speaker 4: particularly in the second half. You know, the first interception,
- 40:48Speaker 4: he throws three picks in this game. First interception quick
- 40:50Speaker 4: game absolutely telegraphs that you can see Kendall Fuller reading
- 40:53Speaker 4: his eyes the whole way breaks on the ball, picks
- 40:56Speaker 4: that thing off. Second is the worst. The you're on
- 40:59Speaker 4: the two yard line with a third and goal and
- 41:02Speaker 4: it's a delay of game and obviously, you know, we
- 41:04Speaker 4: don't know what's going on in the headset.
- 41:06Speaker 1: Is it on him?
- 41:07Speaker 4: It's the play not come in clear or on time,
- 41:09Speaker 4: you know, don't know that. But you back up to
- 41:12Speaker 4: a third and seven and he lets a fade away
- 41:15Speaker 4: off his back foot under pressure, fly up into the
- 41:18Speaker 4: end zone. Like it's like a you know, hail Mary
- 41:20Speaker 4: at the end of the game, and like you could
- 41:22Speaker 4: just sit there and play and kick a field goal
- 41:24Speaker 4: and move on, get some points. And it's picked, you know,
- 41:27Speaker 4: an easy interception. This third one I was kind of
- 41:31Speaker 4: curious about. I don't know if you guys had a
- 41:32Speaker 4: chance to watch this. This is at the very end.
- 41:34Speaker 4: They had a bunch of chances here in this game.
- 41:37Speaker 4: They motioned Bjon Robinson out of the backfield. They get
- 41:40Speaker 4: a nice matchup, right, you get a linebacker to come
- 41:42Speaker 4: out with him in a one on one situation man coverage,
- 41:44Speaker 4: but it's jam and Davis, all right, what does jam
- 41:46Speaker 4: and Davis have in spades? Athleticism and speed. He's got
- 41:49Speaker 4: really good coverage on Vijon, but on a third down
- 41:52Speaker 4: where you gotta have it at the end of the game.
- 41:54Speaker 4: How often are you going to call how often is
- 41:56Speaker 4: it going to be a half field read? How often
- 41:58Speaker 4: is the other half of the field going to be
- 42:00Speaker 4: basically dead? And I'm not sure that it was in design,
- 42:05Speaker 4: but Kyle Pitts just jogs off the line as the
- 42:08Speaker 4: slot player on the other side, and there's nowhere else
- 42:10Speaker 4: for Ridder to go and he throws a bad ball.
- 42:13Speaker 4: You know it's behind Bijah. That whole sequence was kind
- 42:16Speaker 4: of weird to me.
- 42:17Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm trying to phrase this properly because when I
- 42:21Speaker 1: watched this game, I've seen Ridder play well yeah before
- 42:27Speaker 1: we saw it just previously in that game. I don't
- 42:31Speaker 1: think he's very talented. That makes any sense at all.
- 42:35Speaker 1: But there's a throw in this there's a throw in
- 42:37Speaker 1: this game. Buck. It was an inbreaker. I can't remember
- 42:40Speaker 1: if it was a dig or a skinny poster what
- 42:42Speaker 1: it was, but I'm watching it going the ball is
- 42:44Speaker 1: never going to get there, like not getting there like
- 42:46Speaker 1: he's got it. Just the ball has no life whatsoever
- 42:49Speaker 1: on the football. And I'm like, man, I just don't
- 42:52Speaker 1: know how physically talented he is. I think he's smart,
- 42:56Speaker 1: I think he's tough. I think he's a great teammate,
- 42:58Speaker 1: he's a leader. I think he's gonna he's gonna have
- 43:00Speaker 1: some games where he plays well. I just don't know
- 43:04Speaker 1: like what the high end, like what the ceiling is
- 43:07Speaker 1: on this thing. It feels low to me.
- 43:09Speaker 3: Yeah, difference between good to great is a mess. And
- 43:11Speaker 3: we're not even talking about.
- 43:12Speaker 1: Almost who's backup right, and and you're limited?
- 43:18Speaker 2: Yeah, and we see Arthur Smith's faces like that, you're
- 43:21Speaker 2: just the exasperation because what man, it's like two games
- 43:24Speaker 2: that they dropped where they probably could have if they
- 43:26Speaker 2: had just a little more, a little more at quarterback,
- 43:29Speaker 2: they could do it. So it puts them in a
- 43:31Speaker 2: bad situation because you're looking at cal Pitts, you're looking
- 43:34Speaker 2: at John neu Smith and Drake London by the way,
- 43:38Speaker 2: you know John Robinson, and you're just looking at this
- 43:40Speaker 2: team and you just it just makes you wonder, right,
- 43:43Speaker 2: And I'm not saying this, and who says that they
- 43:45Speaker 2: want to pay this, But what would Kirk Cousins do
- 43:47Speaker 2: with that?
- 43:47Speaker 3: Would they be better with a Kirk Cousins.
- 43:49Speaker 1: That's my Kirk, that's my landing spot. That's the perfect
- 43:52Speaker 1: spot for him.
- 43:53Speaker 2: You know, like like like, what what would they do
- 43:55Speaker 2: with with with a veteran quarterback who has some pulse
- 43:57Speaker 2: on the wall. It doesn't have to be like the best,
- 44:00Speaker 2: but man, just a good to very good quarterback in
- 44:03Speaker 2: that situation where he can run the football. Because they
- 44:05Speaker 2: can run it and that defense is playing pretty well,
- 44:08Speaker 2: you just wonder, man are they are they missing out
- 44:11Speaker 2: on a twenty three twenty twenty three season they could
- 44:14Speaker 2: have playoff appearance, you know, a division title because they're
- 44:18Speaker 2: just not good enough at quarterback.
- 44:20Speaker 1: Let me ask you this question. I'll go to RHTT
- 44:22Speaker 1: and Bucky. You can follow it up like if I
- 44:25Speaker 1: told you tomorrow you had to go win a game,
- 44:27Speaker 1: and I told you you could have Ritter or Josh Dobbs,
- 44:29Speaker 1: who would you take.
- 44:30Speaker 3: I'll take Josh Dobbs.
- 44:32Speaker 1: Bucky didn't even hesitate red at least hesitate Bucks has
- 44:36Speaker 1: fired that thing out in two seconds. Yeah, My point
- 44:39Speaker 1: was going to be that I thought you guys would
- 44:41Speaker 1: at least have to think about it, which clearly Rhett
- 44:43Speaker 1: has had to think of rhtt at Buck's like, na, yeah,
- 44:46Speaker 1: I'll take Dobbs. Yeah. But which which further is my point,
- 44:49Speaker 1: which is just I just don't know how good he is.
- 44:51Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, I mean what this is team six for
- 44:55Speaker 4: Josh Dobbs, right and he's actually probably playing his best
- 44:57Speaker 4: football of his career right now. Ye and I don't
- 45:00Speaker 4: even know, you know, just Rid or Ha even have
- 45:02Speaker 4: the mobility that Josh Dobbs has, no, which.
- 45:04Speaker 1: Is he doesn't use he doesn't use it. If he does,
- 45:07Speaker 1: Dobs will use it.
- 45:09Speaker 2: Well that's the other thing too. I don't feel like
- 45:11Speaker 2: he's utilizing all of his all his superpowers. Yeah, like
- 45:15Speaker 2: he's in the pocket, but he's not running. He's not
- 45:17Speaker 2: giving me the added element. At some point he has
- 45:18Speaker 2: to give you something beyond just being the drop back passer.
- 45:22Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, I think that's good on that one. Let's yea.
- 45:25Speaker 1: But we gotta we gotta go. We gotta crank through
- 45:26Speaker 1: these last two here because we've spent I think, and
- 45:29Speaker 1: like you guys said, rightfully so on some of those
- 45:30Speaker 1: bigger games spin a little longer. Raiders Patriots, This game
- 45:34Speaker 1: was tough on the eyes. Went back and was watching it.
- 45:37Speaker 1: It was painful to watch. It's just not a lot
- 45:40Speaker 1: of excitement with either one of these franchises. Somehow, the Raiders, though,
- 45:43Speaker 1: find themselves at five hundred twenty one seventeen. The Raiders
- 45:47Speaker 1: get this one done. To me, it was it was
- 45:50Speaker 1: really about two rookies that I wanted to go back
- 45:51Speaker 1: and look at. When I looked at the box score,
- 45:53Speaker 1: I was glad to see Michael Mayer finally get involved.
- 45:56Speaker 1: Five for seventy five. Hit him in the flat, use
- 45:59Speaker 1: him on a check down, hit a shell across, gave
- 46:01Speaker 1: you some run after catch.
- 46:02Speaker 3: You know who that's good for.
- 46:04Speaker 1: I know it's good for you.
- 46:05Speaker 4: You win the tight end day.
- 46:06Speaker 1: Okay, did you did you have did you have him?
- 46:09Speaker 2: Mayor?
- 46:10Speaker 1: He had Mayor? Nice? That was a good move. That
- 46:12Speaker 1: was a good move. He gave me some run after catch.
- 46:15Speaker 1: And then the other rookie was Trey Tucker, the rookie
- 46:17Speaker 1: hat of Cincinnati, who could fly. He was undersize, a
- 46:20Speaker 1: little underd five to nine, one hundred and eighty two pounds,
- 46:22Speaker 1: ran four four flat plays faster than that and hit
- 46:24Speaker 1: a big play. He had two for fifty seven, they
- 46:26Speaker 1: hit him on a slot vertical again. I you know,
- 46:30Speaker 1: there's kind of that shich. Guys, were you excited to
- 46:31Speaker 1: watch Patriots?
- 46:34Speaker 3: Oh?
- 46:34Speaker 1: Man, I'll be honest, I was focusing more on the
- 46:38Speaker 1: Raiders side of things when I watched the video, because
- 46:40Speaker 1: it's nothing to get me excited about the Patriots right now.
- 46:43Speaker 1: Just I've talked, I feel like we've kind of said
- 46:45Speaker 1: been there, done that, sec there's nothing's until something changes.
- 46:49Speaker 1: I don't even know that we're using our time wisely
- 46:51Speaker 1: to talk about him.
- 46:52Speaker 3: He did, and then he kind of messed it up.
- 46:54Speaker 2: I was hoping for I tellted it as maybe he
- 46:57Speaker 2: can be uh Bill Belichicks, Lamar Jackson come in and
- 47:01Speaker 2: just save today. They run a different offense and do
- 47:03Speaker 2: all kinds of stuff.
- 47:04Speaker 3: Yeah, not so much, not yet, not.
- 47:06Speaker 1: Yet, that's enough.
- 47:08Speaker 4: But Max Crosby's a closer dude, absolutely, I mean just
- 47:11Speaker 4: a freak. Nobody plays that hard for that long, every
- 47:13Speaker 4: snap in that well, for every snap like.
- 47:15Speaker 1: That, with the with the attention of every team that
- 47:18Speaker 1: they play focused on him, every single team, and he
- 47:21Speaker 1: still does it all right, Buck last one here Ravens
- 47:24Speaker 1: Titans Baltimore wins that one in London twenty four to sixteen.
- 47:28Speaker 3: Yeah, they wanted.
- 47:28Speaker 2: They were able to get Jay Flowers in the end
- 47:31Speaker 2: zone for the first time. But with the Ravens, look,
- 47:33Speaker 2: the more things change, the more they stay the same.
- 47:35Speaker 3: Like they talk all off.
- 47:37Speaker 2: Season about their offense, We're gonna do this and throw
- 47:38Speaker 2: it all over and then they end up having to
- 47:40Speaker 2: win because their defense kind of dominates today. And it
- 47:43Speaker 2: was a I would say, a team on offense playing
- 47:45Speaker 2: with one arm behind their back. Ryan Tannehill isn't good enough,
- 47:48Speaker 2: Malik Willis isn't ready. They have one punch and that's
- 47:51Speaker 2: Derrick Henry. He has to do everything, even though he
- 47:53Speaker 2: took a wildcat thing like down the sidelline, which is
- 47:56Speaker 2: crazy to me that you know, hey, he's in the backfield,
- 47:58Speaker 2: there's no quarterback, he's getting it running.
- 48:00Speaker 3: It still goes around the Cornerbard's up. There's one thing.
- 48:05Speaker 3: But the Ravens are still sitting here there the top
- 48:08Speaker 3: of the division there there.
- 48:10Speaker 2: It certainly isn't how we thought it would look when
- 48:13Speaker 2: they made this big deal about the offense, but they're
- 48:16Speaker 2: good enough to.
- 48:16Speaker 3: Win games and their defense continues to show up.
- 48:18Speaker 4: Yeah, it's where we at with the Titans right now, right,
- 48:22Speaker 4: Will Levis, That's where we're at.
- 48:23Speaker 1: Let's just let's just go just throw them out there
- 48:26Speaker 1: and see what happens.
- 48:27Speaker 4: What I mean, unfortunately, you know that opens maybe that
- 48:30Speaker 4: opens up the window here for one of the young quarterbacks.
- 48:34Speaker 4: But yeah, I mean it's you got to at some point,
- 48:36Speaker 4: you got to know that this ship is sailed with
- 48:39Speaker 4: the way that that team was constructed with Tannehill.
- 48:41Speaker 1: Right I I to me this and the offensive line
- 48:45Speaker 1: is not good. Yeah, they're terrible. So you I mean,
- 48:48Speaker 1: it was a matter of time before Tannehill was going
- 48:50Speaker 1: to get nicked and then he gets hurt. We saw
- 48:52Speaker 1: milink it out there. She's just holding the ball forever.
- 48:57Speaker 1: I don't know. To me, I just thought the skill
- 49:00Speaker 1: wise that Levis was further advanced, and you know, coming
- 49:03Speaker 1: through the draft process then Malik was coming through his
- 49:05Speaker 1: draft process. I just would like to see what you
- 49:08Speaker 1: have there. I would throw Will Levis out there. This
- 49:10Speaker 1: is a guy we were talking about, and I know
- 49:12Speaker 1: he has his faults and it's not all perfect, but
- 49:14Speaker 1: this is a guy who had like he had top
- 49:16Speaker 1: five type ability. Now none of us, none of the
- 49:19Speaker 1: three of us, had him all the way up there
- 49:21Speaker 1: in terms of where we ranked him, but we ranked
- 49:23Speaker 1: him as a first round player. Like, get him out there,
- 49:26Speaker 1: let him play, see what he can do.
- 49:28Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, I mean give you some juice.
- 49:30Speaker 1: A team with something, right, yeah, it is something.
- 49:33Speaker 2: Any something, because I mean I just don't know where
- 49:35Speaker 2: they go, Like they're just kind of like a hum franchise.
- 49:38Speaker 2: Derrick Henry is great, but they don't have anything around him.
- 49:40Speaker 2: And let's be honest, even on the out side, like
- 49:42Speaker 2: signing NW Hopkins, Trylan Burk, Like they're just a very
- 49:46Speaker 2: slow team. They're a slow team, and it's just so
- 49:49Speaker 2: hard to win in this league when you look at
- 49:50Speaker 2: the Miami Dolphins running up and down the field and
- 49:54Speaker 2: this team is unable to do it.
- 49:56Speaker 1: No, speaking of those, I still don't I was there
- 49:59Speaker 1: for the game. I called the for the charge. I
- 50:00Speaker 1: don't know how the Chargers lost that Tennessee Titans team,
- 50:02Speaker 1: and I still don't know how they lost to them.
- 50:04Speaker 1: That was bad loss. But I am, uh, I've got
- 50:07Speaker 1: to run because I've gotten it up to uh to
- 50:09Speaker 1: where Bucky is right now. So far you're you're at
- 50:11Speaker 1: home right right, I see your beautiful background there. I
- 50:13Speaker 1: am get up there and call this Cowboys charge a game,
- 50:16Speaker 1: which we can talk about a little bit tomorrow. Anything
- 50:18Speaker 1: you guys want to add before we jump out of here.
- 50:22Speaker 4: I mean, the last thing I'll say.
- 50:24Speaker 3: C J.
- 50:25Speaker 4: Stroud went one hundred and ninety one pass attempts without
- 50:28Speaker 4: an interception, and not on his one hundred and ninety
- 50:30Speaker 4: second he forced one in Adult and Schultz. But boy,
- 50:33Speaker 4: his boy, Nico Collins forced the fumble and the didn't
- 50:37Speaker 4: hurt him and they got right back.
- 50:40Speaker 1: Happened, no problem. Uh what were gonna say?
- 50:44Speaker 3: Oh no, I didn't know, No, no, I didn't know.
- 50:46Speaker 2: If you guys have been paying attention to college football,
- 50:47Speaker 2: but guitar hills a Nana top ten, I don't like.
- 50:50Speaker 3: Well, I was told we're inching towards. We're now inching towards.
- 50:55Speaker 1: You know. Help me, help me with this one, Help
- 50:58Speaker 1: me with this one.
- 50:59Speaker 3: I was told.
- 51:01Speaker 1: I was told if your team loses on a Tuesday
- 51:03Speaker 1: night that it doesn't doesn't count. Right? Is that true?
- 51:07Speaker 1: I mean, I'm I'm traveling and you know, going out
- 51:12Speaker 1: there at Dallas. I'll be going out to Dallas for
- 51:14Speaker 1: my daughter's wedding. Like you know, check into the hotel
- 51:16Speaker 1: I'm like, I don't know. I guess I'll see if
- 51:18Speaker 1: there's some Seinfeld reruns on or something.
- 51:20Speaker 3: You know.
- 51:20Speaker 1: I'm like, holy crap, is this is a real game
- 51:23Speaker 1: right now? We're playing on Tuesday night football. Here we go,
- 51:26Speaker 1: Coastal Carolina. Got us. I'm not a fan of the
- 51:29Speaker 1: Tuesday night football. I'm sorry. I gotta say it. Whatever,
- 51:33Speaker 1: neither here nor there. All right, let's get out of here, guys.
- 51:36Speaker 1: I want to encourage everybody. If you can give us
- 51:39Speaker 1: one of those five star reviews, we appreciate that. If
- 51:41Speaker 1: you like the show and leave us a little review
- 51:44Speaker 1: on there, we do appreciate that. And again, we're five
- 51:47Speaker 1: days a week, including a video show on Tuesdays, so
- 51:49Speaker 1: be on the lookout for that as well. We'll see
- 51:51Speaker 1: you next time right here on move the sticks want
