- 3:53Haynes King, the quarterback for Georgia Tech,
- 3:56is gaining recognition as one of the toughest
- 3:59players in college football. Last year, he played
- 4:03against Georgia despite a right shoulder injury
- 4:05that caused him immense pain. Miraculously, just
- 4:10days before the game, he was able to throw deep
- 4:12passes. Head coach Brent Key noted that King
- 4:16has an innately high pain tolerance. and can
- 4:19block out pain. In a remarkable performance,
- 4:23King threw for 303 yards and ran for three touchdowns
- 4:28despite the Jackets' loss in eight overtimes.
- 4:31His determination has led Georgia Tech to an
- 4:348 -0 record and a No. 7 ranking in the Associated
- 4:38Press poll. In local sports The Bruins recovered
- 4:43after a lackluster first period. rallying to
- 4:46defeat the New York Islanders 5 -2 at TD Garden

- 5:00Corpusalo. Despite a rocky start, the Bruins
- 5:04found their rhythm, with Pavel Zaka setting up
- 5:07Elias Lindholm for a one -timer, followed by
- 5:10David Pasternak tying the game. Morgan Jeeke
- 5:15added a power play goal, and Fraser Minton sealed
- 5:18the win with an empty netter. The Bruins faced
- 5:21the Buffalo Sabres at 7 o 'clock tonight at TD
- 5:25Garden. In top news, Hurricane Melissa made landfall
- 5:31in Cuba early Wednesday as a Category 3 storm
- 5:35after devastating western Jamaica on Tuesday.
- 5:39Melissa struck near Chivirico, Cuba. with wind
- 5:42speeds of 125 miles per hour at 3 a .m. and is

- 6:03electricity, and the government declared a disaster
- 6:06area. More than 735 ,000 people were evacuated
- 6:12in Cuba as officials prepared for widespread
- 6:15flooding. In business news, the Federal Reserve
- 6:21lowered interest rates at its second consecutive
- 6:24meeting, but Chair Jerome Powell cast doubt on
- 6:27expectations for a further rate cut this year.
- 6:31Powell emphasized that the notion of a cut at
- 6:33the Fed's next gathering in December is far from
- 6:36a certainty. The Dow Jones Industrial Average
- 6:40and the S &P 500 erased gains, while the Nasdaq
- 6:44Composite rose to a record high. Powell's comments
- 6:48highlight a growing chorus of officials wary
- 6:51about additional cuts. The Fed will stop reducing
- 6:55its asset portfolio on December 1, marking a
- 6:58significant shift in policy. Concerns about inflation
- 7:02and job growth continue to complicate the Fed's
- 7:05decisions. In crypto movement, Bitcoin is down
- 7:102 % to about $111 ,000. Ethereum is down half

- 8:14Let's talk tech. America only hurts itself by
- 8:18discounting what China has done well. After months
- 8:21of trade tensions, Presidents Donald Trump and
- 8:24Xi Jinping are scheduled to meet in Korea for
- 8:27a possible agreement. This presents an occasion
- 8:30for the United States to learn from China's rapid
- 8:33technological advancements. China has become
- 8:37a powerhouse, leading in artificial intelligence
- 8:40patents and clean energy technology. To regain
- 8:44its competitive edge, the United States must
- 8:47embrace innovation and absorb talent from China.
- 8:51Excessive competition in China has spurred unique
- 8:54advancements that the US can learn from. Ignoring
- 8:58these lessons may leave America lagging behind.
- 9:04And in entertainment news, Taylor Sheridan, the
- 9:08mastermind behind hits like Tulsa King and Landman,
- 9:12is leaving Paramount after tensions with new
- 9:14chief executive David Ellison's leadership team.
- 9:18Sheridan valued creative freedom at Paramount,
- 9:21but that began to change with Ellison's arrival
- 9:23following the merger with Skydance. Disagreements
- 9:27over project pitches and budget scrutiny prompted
- 9:30Sheridan to sign a five -year contract with NBCUniversal,
- 9:35potentially worth up to $1 billion. While he
- 9:38plans to fulfill his remaining commitments to
- 9:41Paramount, the loss of Sheridan represents a
- 9:44significant challenge for Ellison, especially
- 9:46amid upcoming layoffs. Geridan's departure highlights
- 9:51the struggle between fostering talent and controlling
- 9:54costs in the entertainment industry. Well, alrighty
- 9:59folks, it's time for the quote of the day. And
- 10:03today, our quote comes from the American journalist
