- 0:00[SPEAKER_00]: Do you feel like when you post, you just cross your fingers and hope, or are you afraid to post videos content online?
- 0:09[SPEAKER_00]: Because you lack the confidence of what it can do for you.
- 0:14[SPEAKER_00]: Chances are you are missing the content creation secret, which I have discovered after a
- 0:29[SPEAKER_00]: Not changing what I've been doing this whole time.
- 0:33[SPEAKER_00]: And if we've never met before, my name's Omar Altaquari, welcome to the department.
- 0:37[SPEAKER_00]: I am met with my bro, art.mp4, what it do, baby boo.
- 0:43[SPEAKER_00]: we are actually live right now and at the time of recording or capturing this and what we have, we have AI switching for us.
- 0:52[SPEAKER_00]: If you like how this looks and sounds, we actually put all our gear in the description below.
- 0:57[SPEAKER_00]: But so glad that you're here and I really want to just jump straight into it because I've been creating content for two decades and I really haven't changed what I'm about to share with you right now.
- 1:09[SPEAKER_00]: But the biggest thing I've discovered
- 1:11[SPEAKER_00]: is the first level of confidence truly comes from how you decide on how you want to show up online.
- 1:19[SPEAKER_00]: So question for you is do you like Mexican food?
- 1:27[SPEAKER_00]: No, not really, honestly.
- 1:29[SPEAKER_00]: You're Mexican.
- 1:30[SPEAKER_02]: I'm just kidding.
- 1:30[SPEAKER_02]: Yes.
- 1:31[SPEAKER_02]: Yes.
- 1:31[SPEAKER_00]: Who doesn't like Mexican food?
- 1:34[SPEAKER_00]: If you, if you like Mexican food, you probably have a Samsung Galaxy, just kidding, people just got offended.
- 1:41[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, here's why I ask you this question.
- 1:44[SPEAKER_00]: I ask you this question because I think a lot of our overthinking when it comes to showing up online, when it comes to posting online is because we don't have confidence in the content format in which we're showing up online.
- 1:56[SPEAKER_00]: And I bring up Mexican food because something I've discovered about Mexican food specifically in the United States,
- 2:04[SPEAKER_00]: Mexico, yes, specifically Americanized Americanized Mexican food is simply this right here and that is all Mexican food is the same.
- 2:16[SPEAKER_00]: It doesn't matter if you have a burrito.
- 2:19[SPEAKER_00]: It doesn't matter if you have a taco.
- 2:21[SPEAKER_00]: It doesn't matter if you have an enchilada and it doesn't matter if you have a salad.
- 2:26[SPEAKER_00]: All Mexican dishes in the United States are made from the same ingredients.
- 2:33[SPEAKER_00]: At me, fight me, I don't care what you think about that's just the truth, okay?
- 2:39[SPEAKER_00]: Now here's the thing.
- 2:40[SPEAKER_00]: we still go back and we always get Mexican food.
- 2:42[SPEAKER_00]: If you're like me every day, you eat Mexican food or almost every day.
- 2:46[SPEAKER_00]: And I switch between all those things.
- 2:49[SPEAKER_00]: But the expectation of what I'm getting is the same.
- 2:53[SPEAKER_00]: It's the same expectation.
- 2:54[SPEAKER_00]: It's why Chipotle can just have a bar that never changes or cafe Rio can have a bar that never changes or shout out to Roberto's, it the ingredients never
- 3:06[SPEAKER_00]: I say that to say, content formats are the same way.
- 3:12[SPEAKER_00]: And if you're somebody who wants to make money online with the content you're creating, I have boiled down the content formats into four.
- 3:21[SPEAKER_00]: There are four kinds of content formats and what's crazy is we're actually doing two out of the four, literally right now.
- 3:27[SPEAKER_00]: But the first content format that you can decide on how you show up on is a vlog style or a vlog content format.
- 3:36[SPEAKER_00]: The next kind of content format you can show up on is talking head.
- 3:40[SPEAKER_00]: The third is live stream and the fourth is video podcast.
- 3:46[SPEAKER_00]: Vlogging, talking head, live streaming and video podcasting.
- 3:57[SPEAKER_00]: I want you to consider which one do you enjoy looking or consuming at the most?
- 4:03[SPEAKER_00]: Like what do you actually enjoy consuming online?
- 4:06[SPEAKER_00]: And I would ask you, I know, you're not crazy on YouTube, you're Gen Z, so you're crazy on TikTok.
- 4:11[SPEAKER_00]: TikTok?
- 4:12[SPEAKER_00]: But, but I mean, I consume YouTube sometimes.
- 4:14[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, so like when you think about the creators, you like to follow who do you like to follow?
- 4:19[SPEAKER_00]: Specifically on YouTube.
- 4:20[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, we're all format.
- 4:22[SPEAKER_00]: We're kind of format, do you enjoy consuming?
- 4:28[SPEAKER_02]: I wonder if this is a valid answer, but right now it's interest-based, so it kind of changes.
- 4:35[SPEAKER_02]: So I wouldn't say I'm like specific on podcasts, I'm specific on vlogs, all creators.
- 4:43[SPEAKER_02]: It's kind of whatever comes with my interest.
- 4:46[SPEAKER_02]: So if it's a podcast talking about the thing I like, then I will consume it.
- 4:50[SPEAKER_00]: But which proves my point?
- 4:52[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 4:52[SPEAKER_00]: The interest is the ingredient.
- 4:54[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
- 4:54[SPEAKER_00]: The format is the vehicle.
- 4:57[SPEAKER_00]: It's the plate.
- 4:59[SPEAKER_01]: So...
- 5:01[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, you're agreeing with the point that it doesn't matter the information, but I want to know just from your standpoint, like which one do you enjoy watching or consuming or what do you find yourself doing more often?
- 5:16[SPEAKER_00]: And if you're watching live or listening live, throw in the chat, which one do you consider you find yourself clicking on the most when you open the YouTube app?
- 5:23[SPEAKER_02]: I guess it would be considered vlog.
- 5:25[SPEAKER_00]: I would agree.
- 5:26[SPEAKER_00]: I would agree.
- 5:26[SPEAKER_00]: I would agree.
- 5:27[SPEAKER_02]: I would agree.
- 5:28[SPEAKER_02]: I would agree.
- 5:29[SPEAKER_02]: I would agree.
- 5:30[SPEAKER_02]: I would agree.
- 5:31[SPEAKER_00]: I would agree.
- 5:32[SPEAKER_00]: I would agree.
- 5:33[SPEAKER_00]: I would agree.
- 5:34[SPEAKER_00]: I would agree.
- 5:35[SPEAKER_00]: I would agree.
- 5:36[SPEAKER_00]: I would agree.
- 5:37[SPEAKER_00]: I would agree.
- 5:38[SPEAKER_00]: I would agree.
- 5:39[SPEAKER_00]: I would agree.
- 5:41[SPEAKER_00]: I would agree.
- 5:42[SPEAKER_00]: I would agree.
- 5:42[SPEAKER_00]: I would agree.
- 5:43[SPEAKER_00]: I would agree.
- 5:44[SPEAKER_00]: I would agree.
- 5:45[SPEAKER_00]: I would agree.
- 5:46[SPEAKER_00]: I would agree.
- 5:47[SPEAKER_00]: And but then I'll go on YouTube and I also watch video podcasts so I would say I'm almost like on the vlog side in the video podcast side would love to know You know when you think about the types of content that really you enjoy watching whether it's educational value or entertainment value But I bring this up because these all they they're important because they align with how you show up
- 6:09[SPEAKER_00]: but they're also very important because if you try go and do a video podcast, even though you're the type of person that should probably have a talking head YouTube channel or a vlogging YouTube channel, then you could literally you're doing the right thing by showing up online, but you're showing up the wrong way.
- 6:29[SPEAKER_00]: And so, I think it's so important that we consider you usually decide on your content format based on the kind of content you like to consume.
- 6:41[SPEAKER_02]: Got it.
- 6:42[SPEAKER_00]: And I found like the reason why I went all in with video podcasting.
- 6:46[SPEAKER_00]: This was after years of making the same kind of video in different content formats.
- 6:52[SPEAKER_00]: I used to make this video every so often, maybe two, three times a year, it's called the best camera for YouTube.
- 6:59[SPEAKER_00]: I made that video in talking head format.
- 7:02[SPEAKER_00]: I've made that video in live stream format.
- 7:04[SPEAKER_00]: I made that video in video podcast format.
- 7:07[SPEAKER_00]: And I made that video in vlogging format.
- 7:11[SPEAKER_00]: And you were in that, like I remember, you came with me to the park when I tested those cameras.
- 7:16[SPEAKER_00]: And so I learned,
- 7:19[SPEAKER_00]: I learned myself in showing up with this variety of ways of showing up, but the reason why I decided on a video podcast because I realized I was a conversationalist.
- 7:30[SPEAKER_00]: I'd rather deliver the information in a conversational manner as opposed to a polished manner.
- 7:38[SPEAKER_00]: right, you know, scripted man.
- 7:39[SPEAKER_02]: What's interesting is other outlets that you deliver information in, like different context, you're still that way.
- 7:48[SPEAKER_02]: Like it still bleeds through the context of how you deliver something.
- 7:53[SPEAKER_02]: No, this is just pure like conversationalist.
- 7:56[SPEAKER_00]: I John Maxwell leadership expert would
- 8:03[SPEAKER_00]: And then there's also writers who speak.
- 8:04[SPEAKER_00]: There's people who like love to sit down.
- 8:06[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, Annabel who's on the team, she likes to write and then speak.
- 8:10[SPEAKER_00]: Me?
- 8:11[SPEAKER_00]: I'll speak.
- 8:13[SPEAKER_00]: And then from what I've spoken, it'll create content from what I said, because yeah, I take some time to put some stuff down, but it really is just, I'm a speaker who writes.
- 8:25[SPEAKER_02]: You're a yapper.
- 8:26[SPEAKER_00]: I'm a yapper, I'm a professional yapper.
- 8:27[SPEAKER_00]: OK, so real quick, let's go pros and cons.
- 8:31[SPEAKER_00]: What's pros and cons of each one?
- 8:32[SPEAKER_00]: Because you're considering, all right, I'm going to lock in.
- 8:34[SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to pick one of these pros and cons of vlogging.
- 8:37[SPEAKER_00]: Let's start with the pros and then we'll go cons.
- 8:39[SPEAKER_00]: The pro for vlogging is it probably is the easiest way to show up because it requires the least amount of tech.
- 8:50[SPEAKER_00]: It requires the least amount of production value, the production value in vlogging.
- 8:56[SPEAKER_00]: a lot of it is just you using the natural light, the sun, or whatever lights you have available to you in your space, and then the change of scenery re-engages the audience.
- 9:09[SPEAKER_00]: These are all pros.
- 9:10[SPEAKER_00]: You could just use your phone.
- 9:12[SPEAKER_00]: Phone does a great job.
- 9:13[SPEAKER_00]: Go outside and you talk to your phone.
- 9:15[SPEAKER_00]: And then when you create blogs, when I say blogs, I don't mean random vlogs.
- 9:20[SPEAKER_00]: I don't mean vlogmas.
- 9:23[SPEAKER_00]: In December, I don't mean just showing your day, and that's all you're doing.
- 9:27[SPEAKER_00]: No, I'm saying you could you could take the information you want to deliver and you could you're using the vehicle or the plate the style the style of content format and so Vlogs are cool because if you deliver it chronological there's very minimal editing
- 9:44[SPEAKER_00]: You're literally just delivering what you have mapped out in a chronological manner, changing the scene, using whatever space in place or outside to film, which is really good.
- 9:58[SPEAKER_00]: Now what's the con for vlogging?
- 10:00[SPEAKER_00]: I actually think the con for vlogging is it's not systemized.
- 10:05[SPEAKER_00]: You don't, when you have a setup, you have a system, and you have to create a system within your calendar or system within how you create.
- 10:14[SPEAKER_00]: Also, you have the pro of your background constantly changing it's good, but then it's also a bad thing because you can't control airplanes flying, whatever, AC, turn it on.
- 10:23[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know, like whatever, if the space isn't conducive for you to film, it can be a distraction.
- 10:30[SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, there's no system in place like the other three and that some people need if you want to batch record content You just want to just like if that's you if like you're like dude if I just had a space where I can just just like sit at a chair and then it and it's ready to go Then you would probably want to consider the other three So that's a con Is not being able to control your environment
- 10:51[SPEAKER_00]: Totally the time of day you can only record at a certain time of day that that messes with things for vlogs and then and then honestly it's the I think on a consumption on a consumption standpoint the person watching you as a vlogger
- 11:09[SPEAKER_00]: I just think I take vloggers more casually than I do podcasters 100.
- 11:14[SPEAKER_00]: I take vloggers more casually than talking head YouTube videos because yeah, because it's just like it's it's very what is it?
- 11:23[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, it's not a bad thing to be relatable.
- 11:24[SPEAKER_02]: It's just super casual like.
- 11:27[SPEAKER_02]: Casey Nyset is a giant and a very influential human being.
- 11:32[SPEAKER_02]: It's super smart dude, but watching his vlog, I feel close to him.
- 11:36[SPEAKER_02]: And because you feel close to somebody, you can feel a level of, you know, familiarity.
- 11:41[SPEAKER_00]: So, it creates a celebrity factor.
- 11:44[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, but it might not create a high conversion factor.
- 11:49[SPEAKER_00]: It's really good because if Kate and C. I speak and then right I need to write that down and we AI catch that, no, but you're right.
- 11:56[SPEAKER_00]: I love Casey and I said, bro, and he's still, he's still doing the thing because he realizes the way I love showing up.
- 12:03[SPEAKER_00]: He's a great storyteller, but he doesn't create the feeling in me that I want to buy something from him.
- 12:09[SPEAKER_00]: which that's not his objective either.
- 12:12[SPEAKER_00]: And he's getting brand deals and all that stuff.
- 12:15[SPEAKER_00]: So he does other things.
- 12:15[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, so I was vlogging.
- 12:17[SPEAKER_00]: Talking head, pros of talking head, showing up talking head.
- 12:21[SPEAKER_00]: Number one is having a stationary setup which I'll get to in just a moment.
- 12:24[SPEAKER_00]: I'm gonna break this is about to, your mind's about to explode when we get through this portion.
- 12:28[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 12:28[SPEAKER_02]: Wait, hold on pause.
- 12:29[SPEAKER_02]: What?
- 12:30[SPEAKER_02]: Someone said art, art's mic is good, but oh, more mic is different.
- 12:34[SPEAKER_02]: How's so?
- 12:35[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know.
- 12:36[SPEAKER_02]: I'm trying to make sure it's good.
- 12:38[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 12:40[SPEAKER_00]: Or is it the back is are we good with the the back.
- 12:43[SPEAKER_00]: Is it was it too high.
- 12:50[SPEAKER_00]: All right, so we should be good.
- 12:51[SPEAKER_00]: This is my live stream.
- 12:54[SPEAKER_00]: Hey, shout out to you.
- 12:55[SPEAKER_02]: Who is that that was Jessica.
- 12:59[SPEAKER_00]: Thanks, Jessica.
- 13:02[SPEAKER_00]: Thanks for saying something, Jessica.
- 13:04[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, is it good now?
- 13:05[SPEAKER_02]: It should be good now.
- 13:06[SPEAKER_02]: says Omar's Mike sounds like an echo.
- 13:10[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 13:10[SPEAKER_02]: Not as condensed.
- 13:13[SPEAKER_02]: This dude's typing funny.
- 13:15[SPEAKER_00]: How about now?
- 13:15[SPEAKER_00]: Does it sound good now?
- 13:16[SPEAKER_00]: Go ahead and throw another chat if it sounds good now.
- 13:21[SPEAKER_02]: All right, cool.
- 13:22[SPEAKER_00]: Let's go.
- 13:23[SPEAKER_00]: This is amazing.
- 13:24[SPEAKER_00]: Let's go.
- 13:24[SPEAKER_00]: This is live life.
- 13:26[SPEAKER_00]: And so talking head is great because you can have a setup where all you do is sit and deliver.
- 13:38[SPEAKER_00]: I'm seeing a lot of CEOs blow up online or blow up on YouTube and their choice of format is talking head.
- 13:50[SPEAKER_00]: Most high-level people need a system to do a repeated task.
- 13:55[SPEAKER_00]: A lot of creatives don't need necessarily a system.
- 13:58[SPEAKER_00]: You can just turn on cameras and go.
- 14:01[SPEAKER_00]: But this is what's cool about having a talking headset up.
- 14:03[SPEAKER_00]: The pro of it is it's consistent.
- 14:05[SPEAKER_00]: You can control the quality, the great audio, great lighting, things like that.
- 14:13[SPEAKER_00]: What's the downside to having talking head videos be your content format?
- 14:17[SPEAKER_00]: Well, your words better be strong.
- 14:20[SPEAKER_00]: Your delivery better be great.
- 14:22[SPEAKER_00]: Your content needs to be more rich because your words carry the video.
- 14:28[SPEAKER_00]: And with less things changing on screen, a lot of people will probably argue that if you go talking head,
- 14:35[SPEAKER_00]: You're going to want some production value, you're going to want some good editing and maybe some visual elements in your edit motion graphics and things like that.
- 14:45[SPEAKER_00]: It's kind of hard to like crush it talking head.
- 14:49[SPEAKER_00]: and just, and just the app.
- 14:51[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, so that's the problem con for talking head.
- 14:53[SPEAKER_00]: We'll go live stream, live stream.
- 14:56[SPEAKER_00]: Number one, pro is that you're done when you're done.
- 15:00[SPEAKER_00]: Like when this podcast ends, the podcast production ends.
- 15:08[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, which if you're someone who feels like editing is an obstacle, consider just going live.
- 15:16[SPEAKER_00]: because you can do all the preparation and then deliver and then when you're done you're done.
- 15:23[SPEAKER_00]: That's the pro of live streaming.
- 15:24[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, now, I'm going to just give you a real quick live stream framework.
- 15:28[SPEAKER_00]: If you want to go live, the framework that I'm implementing literally right now is number one, treat your live stream like a normal video.
- 15:39[SPEAKER_00]: Don't treat it like a live stream.
- 15:41[SPEAKER_00]: The biggest mistake people who go live make is they treat it like a live stream.
- 15:47[SPEAKER_00]: The reason why I say this is because the replay value of your live stream will get more views.
- 15:54[SPEAKER_00]: If you do what I say, if you treat it like a regular video, so how do you treat something like a regular video?
- 16:01[SPEAKER_00]: You come prepared.
- 16:03[SPEAKER_00]: You have a hook, you have a title, you have a thumbnail.
- 16:07[SPEAKER_00]: Like before we turned on cameras, we packaged this conversation and then we went live.
- 16:15[SPEAKER_00]: Most people will just go live and then try to figure it out later, or they'll just leave it.
- 16:19[SPEAKER_00]: But if you go live and you don't start strong, you don't get right into the information, people who click on it later will just swipe away.
- 16:26[SPEAKER_00]: And so that's why your live streams don't perform well, is because you don't do the first thing, and that is, um, try to treat it like a regular video and not like a live stream.
- 16:36[SPEAKER_00]: Now you can engage in your chat but do that throughout the delivery, not at the beginning of your delivery.
- 16:41[SPEAKER_02]: Right.
- 16:42[SPEAKER_02]: Like we got that chat in here.
- 16:44[SPEAKER_02]: We got 57 people on let's go.
- 16:46[SPEAKER_00]: So there's that what's what's a con the con to the live stream is that if the tech ain't tech in if it's not tech and so like I actually wonder if this is going to tank because like my audio wasn't good.
- 17:01[SPEAKER_00]: but we'll find out later, and that's okay.
- 17:03[SPEAKER_00]: I know the, at least the audio experience will be good.
- 17:07[SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, I mean, if something goes wrong in the middle of the thing, obviously we're live, but there, that sometimes is a pro too, because there shows the realness of the person, like,
- 17:19[SPEAKER_00]: The levels of consumption is intermittent, immersive, and intimate.
- 17:26[SPEAKER_00]: Intermittent, which is like short form, immersive, which is like long form, and intimate.
- 17:32[SPEAKER_00]: When I sneeze, or if you cough, or if we're like, hold up what's happening.
- 17:36[SPEAKER_00]: that actually deep and stressed as weird as it's on.
- 17:39[SPEAKER_00]: So it kind of plays in your favor.
- 17:41[SPEAKER_00]: And then same with like the talking, you can have a setup to go live like my desk setup.
- 17:46[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I can just I can go live like that.
- 17:48[SPEAKER_00]: We're using a road switcher right now.
- 17:50[SPEAKER_00]: I can just go to switching and it's auto switching right now.
- 17:53[SPEAKER_00]: And so that's really cool.
- 17:55[SPEAKER_00]: And then the last thing is video podcast.
- 17:57[SPEAKER_00]: I chose video podcasts to show up online as my content format because number one I can mention I'm a conversationalist and number two after testing all of these versions of formats with the same kind of information I found not only do I enjoy it more I realize that
- 18:15[SPEAKER_00]: It retains longer attention.
- 18:19[SPEAKER_00]: I realize that there are people who position themselves psychologically to consume a podcast or a higher level human being.
- 18:30[SPEAKER_00]: And I said that because not all viewers are created equal, some people are doom scrolling, some people are veging out, but usually you're not veging out.
- 18:38[SPEAKER_00]: if you're listening to a podcast to become better.
- 18:41[SPEAKER_02]: Right.
- 18:42[SPEAKER_00]: So, what's the, what's the con to a podcast?
- 18:45[SPEAKER_00]: I guess a con could be the guests factor.
- 18:48[SPEAKER_00]: You're probably wondering, like, where do I get guests?
- 18:51[SPEAKER_00]: The production factor, because you do want it to sound good and look good, you know, the, what do I talk about for a long period of time?
- 19:00[SPEAKER_00]: So like if if if if you struggle with those things and maybe talking heads the the way for you to go, but I was mentioning before I broke these down that we're doing two at once right now, which I guess you could say kind of three weeks or third one, I mean this is kind of talking head.
- 19:17[SPEAKER_02]: Oh yeah, yeah, it just yeah.
- 19:19[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, but it's podcast because you're here right by the way, it's not podcast because we have these mics some people are like, oh, I mean, I mean, because we could have labs right now just yeah talk so I think some people feel like they need these mics or something, but we're live streaming.
- 19:36[SPEAKER_00]: I'm delivering a teaching like I would if I was a talking head.
- 19:40[SPEAKER_00]: But this is a video podcast.
- 19:42[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
- 19:43[SPEAKER_02]: It will be of luck as we'll cut to the walk.
- 19:45[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 19:46[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
- 19:46[SPEAKER_00]: Hey, guys.
- 19:47[SPEAKER_00]: Welcome back to the channel.
- 19:48[SPEAKER_00]: Like, uh, subscribe.
- 19:49[SPEAKER_00]: By the way, if you're not subscribed to the channel, subscribe.
- 19:52[SPEAKER_00]: A lot of people watch this podcast and they're not subscribers.
- 19:55[SPEAKER_00]: 72% of you.
- 19:57[SPEAKER_00]: Is that really?
- 19:57[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
- 19:58[SPEAKER_00]: Thanks.
- 19:58[SPEAKER_00]: 73% of those who watch this channel are not subscribed.
- 20:02[SPEAKER_00]: So I'm looking forward to jumping now.
- 20:06[SPEAKER_00]: That is a content format.
- 20:07[SPEAKER_00]: I want you to think about, man, have I been showing up the wrong way?
- 20:11[SPEAKER_00]: I want you to think about, have, is there another way I could show up?
- 20:15[SPEAKER_00]: And the, uh, the thing about starting a video podcast like a pro, just go rent a studio, go pay for an hour or two hours.
- 20:27[SPEAKER_00]: They already have the cameras.
- 20:29[SPEAKER_00]: They already have the mics.
- 20:30[SPEAKER_00]: They might even include the editing.
- 20:33[SPEAKER_00]: Then all you have to do is focus on the content, all you have to do is focus on getting the guests, all you have to do is focus on, and I'm biased.
- 20:40[SPEAKER_00]: I do love podcasting for a myriad of reasons, how it's changed my life, a team and have one, but I even think about someone who's winning in our coaching program like crazy right now, Jasmine Maze, who she was just like, I want to, I think I want to start a podcast.
- 20:55[SPEAKER_00]: It's like amazing.
- 20:56[SPEAKER_00]: What do I do?
- 20:56[SPEAKER_00]: I invite people to my house and like, what gear do I buy?
- 20:59[SPEAKER_00]: I said, go to a studio.
- 21:01[SPEAKER_00]: Here's here's one that I know.
- 21:03[SPEAKER_00]: Use them and you could look at her podcast.
- 21:07[SPEAKER_00]: It's single and saved.
- 21:09[SPEAKER_00]: She has about 16 episodes or so at the time of filming this.
- 21:13[SPEAKER_00]: and she has 8,000 subscribers.
- 21:15[SPEAKER_00]: She's had a few podcasts or a podcast go over 100,000 views.
- 21:19[SPEAKER_00]: And it's so cool because she's not only building this community, but she's also the creator expect or the audience expectation.
- 21:25[SPEAKER_00]: I think some people undermine the expectation you create for your audience through your consistency and you as the creator, as a CEO of your content,
- 21:40[SPEAKER_00]: And so another reason why I chose video podcasting was because I wanted to create the expectation that when people click on these videos on YouTube that you are maybe you have your notepad out.
- 21:52[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe you feel like you're going to come come back and watch this video again.
- 21:56[SPEAKER_00]: I personally haven't watched too many talking head videos back over again, but I have consumed podcasts multiple times because it's so rich.
- 22:04[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 22:05[SPEAKER_02]: I think it's cool that you free her up with not needing like the gear because that is a pretty big part and a stressful part for most people and sometimes not always accessible either, but she really locked in with a local studio here in Vegas and
- 22:24[SPEAKER_02]: because she did that.
- 22:25[SPEAKER_02]: She unlocked consistency for herself and also unlocked a level of like what's the word like professionalism or she just looks like part because the set is just like it's just dialed.
- 22:38[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, which which kind of goes to like the framework I was really going to get to that was the intro.
- 22:42[SPEAKER_00]: That was the intro.
- 22:47[SPEAKER_00]: You can't bot on the intro.
- 22:51[SPEAKER_02]: You can't stop a yapper bro.
- 22:52[SPEAKER_00]: You can't stop a yapper from me up in but
- 22:56[SPEAKER_00]: I threw all the years I've created content, both in high school to as a agency owner to working out a church to then creating on Think Media to like the department and this channel now.
- 23:13[SPEAKER_00]: I have been implementing this framework from the scriptures and I am still doing that.
- 23:23[SPEAKER_00]: And it still works.
- 23:26[SPEAKER_00]: It's a framework from Genesis 1 and it actually is looking at when God created the heavens and the earth with like God created and if God if we if God is the creator we can look at how he created and draw principles from it now I came up with this framework before I even arrived to this someone in my program was like bro you didn't realize but your framework on creating
- 23:52[SPEAKER_00]: is from Genesis 1, so shout out to Kirk Nugent.
- 23:58[SPEAKER_00]: Kirk, Kirk Nugent, yes, who who made this connection, but the secret to content creation is found in Genesis 1.
- 24:10[SPEAKER_00]: And we'll start and I'll, I would sure I just list it all out for the type A's or should I, like, go, this is the longest cliffhanger I'm monitoring.
- 24:18[SPEAKER_00]: I know, is that good?
- 24:19[SPEAKER_00]: I'm such a loser.
- 24:21[SPEAKER_00]: Start with type A's.
- 24:22[SPEAKER_00]: So for the type A's, it says in Genesis 1, it says, in the beginning, God created, and this is how he created.
- 24:34[SPEAKER_00]: It says, and God said, let their be light.
- 24:40[SPEAKER_00]: and there was light, and then it says, God saw the light was good, and he separated the light from the darkness.
- 24:50[SPEAKER_00]: So here are three, and it order matters here.
- 24:54[SPEAKER_00]: This is how you unlock content no matter what format you decide on.
- 25:01[SPEAKER_00]: Your audio, your lighting, and your visuals.
- 25:07[SPEAKER_00]: your audio, your lighting, your visuals.
- 25:08[SPEAKER_00]: Now when I say that, you probably go, okay, what microphone, okay, what light, like amaran light, whatever, Vilt trucks, or whatever, you lawns you.
- 25:18[SPEAKER_00]: When I say visual, you're probably like camera and lens.
- 25:19[SPEAKER_00]: No, audio lighting, visual is so much more principally when it comes to your content, than you realize.
- 25:29[SPEAKER_00]: So the first thing is, how is my audio?
- 25:33[SPEAKER_00]: Did you realize you cannot spell the word audience without the word audio?
- 25:45[SPEAKER_00]: I was like, yeah, you can't even spell the word community without communication.
- 25:53[SPEAKER_00]: But both of those words have the same prefix because the way you get the masses,
- 26:03[SPEAKER_00]: is by what you're saying.
- 26:06[SPEAKER_00]: And I think this is a very underrated thing because if you're not happy with where you are in life, chances are is the things coming out of your mouth in all capacity, in all contexts, but in this context, what's coming out of your mouth in your content has a direct correlation to the quality of life you're experiencing.
- 26:26[SPEAKER_00]: I used to say that audio is 50% of the video viewing experience.
- 26:33[SPEAKER_00]: I actually believe audio is like 93% of the video viewing experience because it's actually your words that create the thoughts and the pictures in a person's mind.
- 26:48[SPEAKER_00]: And if you influence what people see differently because of the words you said in your video, that is most important.
- 27:00[SPEAKER_00]: I've just learned that it really is audio that creates intimacy with your viewers, your audio.
- 27:11[SPEAKER_00]: And when I keep coming back to like what comes out of your mouth, but it's also, yeah, also technically, like, if people have to work to hear your videos, that's why I'm kind of bummed about the podcast, hopefully it's not too bad, but like, if somebody had to work to start listening to this thing, that's why they clicked off.
- 27:28[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 27:29[SPEAKER_00]: And so art's like, dude, I'm out of a job.
- 27:32[SPEAKER_00]: And the this podcast.
- 27:33[SPEAKER_02]: No, but yeah, it is interesting that like, yeah, the first thing people had to say was like, Oh, like, art's mic is a little louder or Omar's a little quiet.
- 27:41[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 27:42[SPEAKER_00]: So like, if you know how important audio is, you would take it serious.
- 27:47[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 27:48[SPEAKER_00]: And this is why I like, I think it's both, it's both in what you say and how it's heard.
- 27:53[SPEAKER_00]: What you say and how it's heard.
- 27:58[SPEAKER_00]: It doesn't matter.
- 27:59[SPEAKER_00]: Have you ever watched a crispy video and the audio just wasn't good?
- 28:02[SPEAKER_00]: Have you ever watched a pretty bad video but the audio was good?
- 28:06[SPEAKER_00]: Well, people are building audiences online right now in their cars because the audio is great in a car.
- 28:13[SPEAKER_00]: And then what they're saying is great.
- 28:15[SPEAKER_00]: So I used to teach this and go very technical, but the reality is how are you, if you were to evaluate yourself as a communicator, a communicator of your concepts, do you even have concepts to communicate?
- 28:28[SPEAKER_00]: Are you communicating concepts in your videos?
- 28:30[SPEAKER_00]: Are you getting frameworks in front of people so that they can see whatever you're trying to talk about clearly, more approachable, more accessible?
- 28:38[SPEAKER_00]: I started this conversation with an illustration, so I can connect everybody on the same page who here likes Mexican food.
- 28:48[SPEAKER_00]: Like, that is a, that's because I'm a communicator.
- 28:53[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 28:53[SPEAKER_02]: And I know this isn't a communication podcast or episode, but I mean, what's like a simple piece of advice for someone to get there to get to that level.
- 29:04[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, if you want to become a better communicator, just care, if you care more about who you're talking to, it will influence how you talk to them.
- 29:19[SPEAKER_00]: It's good.
- 29:19[SPEAKER_00]: So, I mean, maybe another way to ask your question is, what's the number one goal of communication?
- 29:26[SPEAKER_00]: The number one goal of communication is connection.
- 29:28[SPEAKER_01]: Yep.
- 29:29[SPEAKER_00]: And if I'm just trying to...
- 29:31[SPEAKER_00]: project on you what I believe and I want and I like and I the and the meme me me it's never going to it's going to be a very hard time to connect but if I could find a connection point.
- 29:42[SPEAKER_00]: Like and this is why speaking in frameworks or having shapes or formulas and blueprints and like having these things help people understand it more.
- 29:52[SPEAKER_00]: But another here's a practical thing if you want to get if you want to get better as a communicator.
- 29:58[SPEAKER_00]: Listen to your videos without watching them Listen to your videos without watching them So turn your phone upside down and listen Here's what's gonna happen.
- 30:15[SPEAKER_00]: You're going to find all your filler words like
- 30:23[SPEAKER_00]: like, like, yeah, this is a really fast way to get better.
- 30:27[SPEAKER_02]: It'll hurt you, but you really want to make the change click.
- 30:32[SPEAKER_02]: Or maybe you talk to stinkin' fast.
- 30:36[SPEAKER_00]: And you don't realize it because when you're watching you talk, you're including your hands.
- 30:40[SPEAKER_00]: And it's like your hands moving at the speed of your sound makes it seem slower.
- 30:47[SPEAKER_00]: And I think a lot of experts speak so fast.
- 30:51[SPEAKER_00]: And it's because a lot of experts are poor communicators.
- 30:55[SPEAKER_00]: You don't have to be a great communicator to be an expert.
- 30:59[SPEAKER_00]: But experts who know how to communicate make a lot of money.
- 31:04[SPEAKER_00]: A lot of money.
- 31:04[SPEAKER_00]: If you're an expert and you are discouraged at your current financial situation, get better at talking.
- 31:11[SPEAKER_00]: Warren Buffett says, if you increase your ability to communicate,
- 31:15[SPEAKER_00]: you can increase your value 50%.
- 31:18[SPEAKER_00]: That singular skill can increase you 50% of value.
- 31:23[SPEAKER_00]: And this is not just communicate on camera, even though that's important.
- 31:26[SPEAKER_00]: It's just communicate in general, like people who suck at talking.
- 31:32[SPEAKER_00]: like they don't have value in any room in any space at the dinner table at the Thanksgiving at like at a mastermind if you're just if you're awkward and you'll know what to and then by the way just because you consider yourself an introvert doesn't mean you that gives you an excuse to be a poor communicator.
- 31:50[SPEAKER_00]: All in introverted is, by the way, let me just make this plain for all my introverts and extroverts.
- 31:55[SPEAKER_00]: All in introverted is somebody who gets more energy from being alone than being around people.
- 31:59[SPEAKER_00]: All in extroverted is a person who gets more in energy being around people than being alone.
- 32:06[SPEAKER_00]: That's the only thing introverts aren't just weird or introverts aren't like kept to them.
- 32:13[SPEAKER_00]: No It just means where you get your energy from bro.
- 32:16[SPEAKER_00]: So stop saying like I'm weird because I'm an introvert and that that makes me be Operate in mediocrity seems like the word introvert became a mask for the word social anxiety I think that's what happened potentially, but then no, that's just People skills that's communicating skills.
- 32:32[SPEAKER_00]: That's
- 32:33[SPEAKER_02]: You know, you're still a human, would you say and we'll like get off this tangent in a second, but would you say you sucked at some point at talking for sure everyone's like everyone who starts
- 32:47[SPEAKER_00]: talking sucks at talking or they don't talk enough like the first episode you're trying to get us to talk about on the pod for sure um but being like I mean just and that talk about a benefit for having not only a podcast but a benefit from giving myself the uh
- 33:09[SPEAKER_00]: not not giving myself the excuse to just not show up weekly but me showing up weekly in long form content has made me a better communicator.
- 33:19[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 33:19[SPEAKER_00]: Why?
- 33:20[SPEAKER_00]: Because I'm listening to it back.
- 33:21[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
- 33:22[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm like, wow.
- 33:24[SPEAKER_00]: And what's funny is now people tell me I'm really good at communicating and I think a lot of it is because I have good cadence, I know when to say something and just like let it sit, I'm okay with pausing, but no one who's great at communicating is a natural great communicator, it took work, it took repetition and it is the most important thing about your content is how you communicate.
- 33:54[SPEAKER_00]: how you sound, here's like, I know people want tactics and stuff.
- 34:00[SPEAKER_00]: Here's a tactic on how do I know if my audio sounds good?
- 34:04[SPEAKER_00]: Well, you can do what I've mentioned.
- 34:06[SPEAKER_00]: Flip your phone or your camera, turn it off, but listen.
- 34:11[SPEAKER_00]: The other thing is to do a test.
- 34:14[SPEAKER_00]: If you just do a test recording, you will prevent yourself from potentially wasting time.
- 34:21[SPEAKER_00]: There are people literally watching or listening to this right now.
- 34:24[SPEAKER_00]: I know it.
- 34:24[SPEAKER_00]: You record a video.
- 34:27[SPEAKER_00]: And you either weren't recording or you weren't recording audio or the audio wasn't connected or the audio was was bad like that literally have but that could be prevented by just doing a genuine test before you go and create hit record and do a valent test a valid test so that you you can watch 20 seconds back and be like hey it looks good it sounds good.
- 34:50[SPEAKER_01]: It's good.
- 34:51[SPEAKER_00]: So this is God's content creation framework from how he created the world in the heavens.
- 35:00[SPEAKER_00]: It's said, in the beginning God said, so the first thing is how is your audio?
- 35:05[SPEAKER_00]: Second, it says, let there be light.
- 35:10[SPEAKER_00]: Let there be light.
- 35:16[SPEAKER_00]: number two is how is your lighting?
- 35:19[SPEAKER_00]: How is your lighting?
- 35:19[SPEAKER_00]: When I say lighting, I'm not just meaning your actual light.
- 35:23[SPEAKER_00]: I'm also meaning what you choose to focus on.
- 35:26[SPEAKER_00]: But let's go, let's go actual lighting.
- 35:29[SPEAKER_00]: I'll tell you right now.
- 35:30[SPEAKER_00]: If you get a good light for your videos, you don't have to buy a new camera.
- 35:35[SPEAKER_00]: If you get a good light or if you use your windows and you have a large light hitting your face, it'll make your phone.
- 35:42[SPEAKER_00]: The amount of times I get comments or DMs like what camera is that?
- 35:48[SPEAKER_00]: it's my iPhone.
- 35:50[SPEAKER_00]: Why?
- 35:50[SPEAKER_00]: Because I understand where the source of light is coming from is what needs to hit my face.
- 35:56[SPEAKER_00]: If you sit at a desk and you have a windows behind you and you show up on Zoom calls, shame on you, you should probably just have a galaxy Samsung.
- 36:03[SPEAKER_00]: I'm just going to add to that something.
- 36:07[SPEAKER_00]: But consider what's lighting your face.
- 36:10[SPEAKER_00]: You should
- 36:17[SPEAKER_00]: Great lighting ladies great lighting will make you look your best.
- 36:22[SPEAKER_00]: No matter what kind of camera you have.
- 36:24[SPEAKER_00]: So don't don't upgrade your camera.
- 36:26[SPEAKER_00]: I would consider upgrade your lighting.
- 36:29[SPEAKER_00]: And it was funny.
- 36:30[SPEAKER_00]: We actually, one of the first podcasts we did was
- 36:39[SPEAKER_00]: didn't approve of the shot.
- 36:41[SPEAKER_00]: We didn't ask her if you want to approve.
- 36:43[SPEAKER_00]: And we released the podcast and she like, Loki wanted us to take it down, even though it was cooking.
- 36:49[SPEAKER_00]: It was the best performing podcast ever at the time.
- 36:52[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it was like the first banger that went out.
- 36:55[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, but yeah, we did it wrong.
- 36:57[SPEAKER_02]: Which I, not on purpose.
- 36:58[SPEAKER_00]: No, I realized that lighting could make you look really good or really bad.
- 37:06[SPEAKER_00]: Like, here's what's crazy about lighting.
- 37:11[SPEAKER_00]: It.
- 37:12[SPEAKER_00]: People judge before you open up your mouth.
- 37:15[SPEAKER_00]: So even just like the snapshot of what your image looks like, it's really lighting.
- 37:22[SPEAKER_00]: I think I figured it out over the years.
- 37:25[SPEAKER_00]: I know that was a little hump in the road, but the reason why my stuff is crispy.
- 37:31[SPEAKER_00]: The reason why I'm the crispiest dude on your screen consistently, constantly no matter what camera I'm using is because I understand the two things I just brought up, I understand audio
- 37:42[SPEAKER_00]: those perceived the actual cameras that you're using.
- 37:48[SPEAKER_00]: Now, I also understand cameras.
- 37:50[SPEAKER_00]: So that that gives me the opportunity to check me.
- 37:54[SPEAKER_00]: Anybody trying to be as crispy as me, but I'm always looking for the light.
- 38:00[SPEAKER_00]: And that's why cars are great.
- 38:01[SPEAKER_02]: Which is funny because someone just said who knew lighting was so important.
- 38:05[SPEAKER_02]: And it's like for you, for me, it's second nature to like know it's important.
- 38:11[SPEAKER_02]: But for some, some people genuinely don't know.
- 38:13[SPEAKER_00]: You don't think about it.
- 38:14[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, you are, which is nothing wrong with that.
- 38:17[SPEAKER_00]: But if you care about looking your best,
- 38:21[SPEAKER_00]: Just find a large light, find where the light's coming from.
- 38:24[SPEAKER_00]: Get in front of the window, don't put the window behind you.
- 38:27[SPEAKER_00]: Get in front of the light, don't put the light behind you.
- 38:29[SPEAKER_00]: And for whatever it's worth, if you want what we use here at the department, both my desk set up, all set up, this set up, there's a link in the description to my gear guide or my gear list.
- 38:41[SPEAKER_00]: Literally, it's everything I use.
- 38:44[SPEAKER_00]: People used to pay me $30,000 a day to prescribe what I use for their stuff.
- 38:51[SPEAKER_00]: just go grab it.
- 38:51[SPEAKER_00]: There's no cost of it.
- 38:53[SPEAKER_02]: Now we on said I'm a throw something at you.
- 38:56[SPEAKER_02]: What?
- 38:56[SPEAKER_02]: This is wisdom.
- 38:58[SPEAKER_00]: Okay cool.
- 38:58[SPEAKER_00]: I like that.
- 38:59[SPEAKER_00]: Now
- 39:01[SPEAKER_00]: When it comes to lighting, it's also what you choose to focus on.
- 39:06[SPEAKER_00]: And in the scriptures, another meaning for the word revelation is the word light or illumination.
- 39:18[SPEAKER_00]: Like when you become awakened to something, when you get a revelation about something, it's like a light went on.
- 39:30[SPEAKER_00]: As a creator, if number one you're not in a position to get new revelation about what you teach, about what you care about, about what you help people with, if you don't get fresh revelation, your content will be stale.
- 39:49[SPEAKER_00]: I'm thinking about real estate folks.
- 39:52[SPEAKER_00]: Like, are you able to create new revelation from the times we're in right now?
- 39:59[SPEAKER_00]: Sons of Issa car in the scriptures, they understood the times and they knew what to do.
- 40:06[SPEAKER_00]: Do you understand the times?
- 40:08[SPEAKER_00]: And so here's a great example about this.
- 40:13[SPEAKER_00]: What I'm noticing in the business world that we're in, is that it was big personal, the last three, five, eight years.
- 40:21[SPEAKER_00]: It's like content creation, personal branding, content creation, personal branding.
- 40:26[SPEAKER_00]: And now like the new thing that people are starting to like, oh, it is AI.
- 40:33[SPEAKER_00]: The thing is they all stack on each other, but AI,
- 40:39[SPEAKER_00]: is the thing that's illuminate.
- 40:41[SPEAKER_00]: If you want to win right now, how is what you do integrating with AI and then you're representing that to the people that you serve?
- 40:52[SPEAKER_00]: You know, here's why I say this.
- 40:56[SPEAKER_00]: This is all my gosh.
- 40:57[SPEAKER_00]: I feel it right now.
- 40:58[SPEAKER_00]: Here we go.
- 40:58[SPEAKER_00]: Omar hit flow state.
- 40:59[SPEAKER_00]: Here we go.
- 41:03[SPEAKER_00]: If people don't see you as the light source, chances are is that you are drawing from the wrong light source.
- 41:13[SPEAKER_00]: Your job is not to be the resource, yourself, you're not a resource, you're human being.
- 41:25[SPEAKER_00]: Your job is to be the source of resource, maybe I'll say it this way, you're not the
- 41:33[SPEAKER_00]: your job is to be the source of revelation so good now here's where I get this Jesus has seven I am statements I'll say some of them because I don't know them all I'm just kidding.
- 41:47[SPEAKER_00]: It's I am the doorkeeper.
- 41:50[SPEAKER_00]: I am the good shepherd.
- 41:52[SPEAKER_00]: I am the way the truth in the life no one comes to the Father except through me.
- 41:56[SPEAKER_00]: I am
- 42:04[SPEAKER_00]: Shep good shepherd way the truth in a life I am okay then he tells the disciples this one look at the he tells the disciples I am the light of the world and then shortly after he tells his disciples I am the light of the world He tells the disciples you are the light of the world
- 42:29[SPEAKER_00]: so that the transference of revelation is from where you're getting it from, I am biased to get revelation from the Bible.
- 42:44[SPEAKER_00]: because that source, it never runs dry, that source, the principles don't matter the person, that source, so I get a lot of what I teach right now in both business and marketing and personal branding and content in AI from that source.
- 43:03[SPEAKER_00]: And then I represent that revelation to you.
- 43:11[SPEAKER_00]: How's my lighting?
- 43:15[SPEAKER_00]: it's lit.
- 43:19[SPEAKER_00]: And then the third thing that we get from Genesis, God said, audio, let there be light, light.
- 43:26[SPEAKER_00]: And then it says, then God saw.
- 43:32[SPEAKER_00]: Then he's then he saw.
- 43:35[SPEAKER_00]: And he separated the light from the darkness.
- 43:38[SPEAKER_00]: Number three is, how are you visually?
- 43:42[SPEAKER_00]: How are your visuals?
- 43:45[SPEAKER_00]: No, I don't think I'm not saying your motion graphics.
- 43:49[SPEAKER_00]: I'm saying what do people think to themselves before you open up your mouth?
- 44:01[SPEAKER_00]: I don't, I'm not saying by a brand new camera, I'm saying, are you dressed for success?
- 44:08[SPEAKER_00]: I'm saying, is your space clean?
- 44:11[SPEAKER_00]: Is the shot clean?
- 44:14[SPEAKER_00]: excellence is felt more than it's seen.
- 44:20[SPEAKER_00]: And if you are a person of excellence, people feel that and man, excellence demands money.
- 44:28[SPEAKER_00]: Excellence demands premium.
- 44:33[SPEAKER_00]: So,
- 44:36[SPEAKER_00]: And here's what's crazy about the visual aspect of content creation is your space is a reflection of who you are your your fashion is a reflection of who you are or the lack of fashion.
- 44:47[SPEAKER_00]: It's a reflection of who you are and so literally by me looking at your content on Instagram or me looking at your content on TikTok or me looking at your content on YouTube.
- 45:06[SPEAKER_00]: Watch yourself on video without listening to the audio.
- 45:13[SPEAKER_00]: Do you talk like you believe in what you're talking about?
- 45:18[SPEAKER_00]: If you believe in what you're talking about, it shows more than in your face, it shows in your hands, it shows in your expressions, it shows, like you just get excited.
- 45:29[SPEAKER_00]: And Ed, my let would say, people don't know, people don't need to know you believe in them.
- 45:36[SPEAKER_00]: They need to know that you believe in what you believe.
- 45:42[SPEAKER_00]: If people can feel that and sales, what is sales?
- 45:45[SPEAKER_00]: Sales is a transference of enthusiasm.
- 45:48[SPEAKER_00]: Now, this could be a whole podcast, and here's why, because I literally on my way to California this last week, I listened to an hour-long podcast on high-converting fashion.
- 46:00[SPEAKER_00]: And it was so good, and it was funny, it's like I'm so grateful that I realized how I showed up every day was important to me shout out to Kanye West when I was in 7th grade college drop out.
- 46:17[SPEAKER_00]: Polos and backpacks popped callers and gold chains like I just how I how I looked mattered to me.
- 46:31[SPEAKER_00]: One would say is, some people say this stupid quote, you can't judge a book by its cover.
- 46:37[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 46:38[SPEAKER_00]: My dog, that's the only way you can judge a book.
- 46:43[SPEAKER_00]: That is the only way you can judge a book is by its cover.
- 46:46[SPEAKER_00]: And so what most people who believe that by the way, you don't understand how human nature works.
- 46:52[SPEAKER_00]: You want me to tell you how human nature works?
- 46:55[SPEAKER_00]: Here's how human nature works.
- 46:57[SPEAKER_00]: For Samuel 16.7, men look at the outward appearance, but God looks at the heart.
- 47:02[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, so God's not looking for your book cover, but people are looking at your book cover.
- 47:13[SPEAKER_00]: Men look at the outward.
- 47:15[SPEAKER_02]: And it's...
- 47:18[SPEAKER_02]: For those who don't know, book covers are very expensive to get designed if you want to.
- 47:26[SPEAKER_00]: if you best selling book covers are very expensive.
- 47:29[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, but this is a great that I thank you for bringing this up.
- 47:33[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, because Ryan Lee, who's a great communicator in the space, he tells this story about how he had a design for his latest book cover and it costed him a couple grand or maybe a couple hundred dollars.
- 47:48[SPEAKER_00]: And he had this and it was like, dude, this works.
- 47:51[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 47:52[SPEAKER_00]: your phone does work your your wardrobe currently at it works you could wear it and you could do it right but he said I he worked with a marketing company and their cost he called it a mortgage so like I think it was around 250 to $300,000 for them to design the cover of his book and then you know it's funny when he tells that story is he says
- 48:20[SPEAKER_00]: When it comes down to it, and there's an chief executive officer, a CEO, and there are two books on their desk, and they're thinking about bringing in a speaker to speak to their fortune 500 company.
- 48:36[SPEAKER_00]: What book do you want them to grab?
- 48:39[SPEAKER_00]: In that moment, with that moment that would lead to the opportunities, be worth the investment
- 48:49[SPEAKER_00]: of the mortgage but cover and that's where he that's where he talks about it's a game of inches.
- 48:57[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 48:58[SPEAKER_00]: When it really comes down to it, it's a game of inches.
- 49:02[SPEAKER_00]: Like there's a, you know, honestly,
- 49:06[SPEAKER_00]: There's been so much studies done with color psychology.
- 49:10[SPEAKER_00]: Whenever if you ever see me give an offer in any context, I will be always wearing blue because blue is comforting.
- 49:19[SPEAKER_00]: I'll never give an offer wearing red.
- 49:23[SPEAKER_00]: Omar, are you getting a little bit to it?
- 49:25[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, if you don't want to, if you don't want to add here to this way of thought, then keep doing you and that's totally fine.
- 49:31[SPEAKER_00]: But if you're still here, you're still listening, you're still watching.
- 49:34[SPEAKER_00]: It's probably because you, you feel a connection to what I'm saying and I'm not saying be who you're not because you can't just rip somebody's style, you can't just rip somebody's frameworks, you can't just rip, but there is a way for you to show up.
- 49:49[SPEAKER_00]: Now, what's cool about this podcast I heard and by the way, it was the sales girls, Macy McNally on her podcast, School of Sales.
- 49:58[SPEAKER_00]: It's so good.
- 49:58[SPEAKER_00]: It's also on her YouTube channel.
- 50:01[SPEAKER_00]: She paid somebody $40,000 to hook up her wardrobe.
- 50:10[SPEAKER_00]: that aligned with who she was.
- 50:13[SPEAKER_00]: And it was funny, because she was like, the girl who actually was helping her, was like, I could never wear what you want to wear.
- 50:18[SPEAKER_00]: What works for you.
- 50:19[SPEAKER_00]: Like, you have this presence when you walk into a room, Macy, and there's something about, because you're height, the way you carry yourself, you can wear these like glam stuff.
- 50:31[SPEAKER_00]: Like my wear that glam stuff would be like, it looks like a costume.
- 50:34[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 50:35[SPEAKER_00]: But knowing, knowing the vibe you're trying to communicate the person you really are, but I even think when we're talking about how people see you is also how people perceive you, but it starts with how you see yourself.
- 50:53[SPEAKER_00]: And so one reason I like having nice watches is because it's what it communicates to the people around me,
- 51:06[SPEAKER_00]: When I hear that click, that you get only get with one brand, it's game over.
- 51:14[SPEAKER_00]: Brian Tracy, sales expert would say, sales starts with your self-concept.
- 51:21[SPEAKER_00]: And if you see yourself as someone premium, if you see yourself as someone serious about around what they do, like, are you serious about what you do?
- 51:29[SPEAKER_00]: Then you should be serious about how people see you.
- 51:31[SPEAKER_00]: See, serious about how people perceive you.
- 51:33[SPEAKER_00]: And if that means to level up your content,
- 51:36[SPEAKER_00]: Like, quality, then do it, if that means to like consider what you wear every day, then consider what you wear every day.
- 51:47[SPEAKER_00]: You don't realize that we have the power to architect the thoughts in a person's mind about us before we open up our mouth.
- 51:58[SPEAKER_00]: If you stood on a stage, what are people
- 52:01[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 52:02[SPEAKER_00]: If you were on somebody else's platform, what are people thinking?
- 52:06[SPEAKER_00]: And you know what's crazy about this?
- 52:08[SPEAKER_00]: Macy even all the way down to her dentist.
- 52:11[SPEAKER_00]: She's like, I don't like how jeans make me feel.
- 52:15[SPEAKER_00]: When she throws on a pair of jeans, she's just like, ugh.
- 52:20[SPEAKER_02]: Wow.
- 52:20[SPEAKER_00]: And because of how it fits, yeah.
- 52:22[SPEAKER_00]: Because of how it makes her feel.
- 52:24[SPEAKER_02]: That's interesting.
- 52:25[SPEAKER_00]: I isn't it.
- 52:26[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 52:26[SPEAKER_00]: And I was thinking about that.
- 52:28[SPEAKER_00]: I feel the same way.
- 52:30[SPEAKER_00]: when I put on sneakers.
- 52:35[SPEAKER_00]: That's why I've been wearing penny loafers for a while now.
- 52:38[SPEAKER_00]: Even though I've always had penny loafers, but I like dress shoes and jeans.
- 52:41[SPEAKER_00]: I used to be a sneaker head.
- 52:42[SPEAKER_00]: And I also brought it so funny because even like super oversized box, like when I throw on my old stuff before I lost heck of weight, I'm like, I don't know if it's because it's like an old me.
- 52:56[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe there's a little bit of that.
- 52:57[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 52:57[SPEAKER_00]: But even down broke, she said even down to what she wears when she takes off her clothes.
- 53:03[SPEAKER_00]: I can't be scared.
- 53:06[SPEAKER_00]: No.
- 53:07[SPEAKER_00]: You mean like loungewear?
- 53:08[SPEAKER_00]: She's leveled up with pajamas.
- 53:10[SPEAKER_00]: That's fire.
- 53:11[SPEAKER_00]: Which I was like, how do I want to think of myself?
- 53:15[SPEAKER_00]: Like I'm taking off my superhero thing, but I'm still not checked out.
- 53:19[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 53:21[SPEAKER_00]: I'm still macy.
- 53:22[SPEAKER_00]: I'm like dang dude.
- 53:23[SPEAKER_00]: I literally, that's what you caught me in like new sweats.
- 53:26[SPEAKER_00]: I get, I'm not really, I was like dude I need something like matching pajama sets.
- 53:34[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 53:35[SPEAKER_00]: Now
- 53:36[SPEAKER_00]: Omar, what the heck, this is how to do it.
- 53:38[SPEAKER_00]: And this has to do with the human, the human nature principle that people are watching you and people are judging because you judge.
- 53:46[SPEAKER_02]: Well, 1,000%.
- 53:47[SPEAKER_00]: We're always judging.
- 53:48[SPEAKER_02]: It's human nature to have an opinion about something you see right away.
- 53:52[SPEAKER_02]: It is.
- 53:53[SPEAKER_00]: It's human nature.
- 53:54[SPEAKER_00]: It's not even like a flaw.
- 53:55[SPEAKER_00]: No.
- 53:55[SPEAKER_00]: It's just it's how we
- 53:58[SPEAKER_00]: how God created us because like you see a nice car because men look at the outward opinions but like you see a nice car you see a back car your brain is going to recognize it yes like immediately the first I'm gonna do that it's Sophie's here she's like doing an event uh for someone here at the studio and the first thing I did I was like oh she's like on her like athlete's your tip right now that's like literally like yeah because she's getting her fitness doubt like I had a whole conversation in my mind before she said hey good morning
- 54:26[SPEAKER_00]: I had a whole conversation in my mind.
- 54:28[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, she's like, yeah, she's not like, that's like a new thing she's wearing in this season that she's currently, I'm like literally all this is happening.
- 54:35[SPEAKER_02]: But like this, this happened for me and it will forever be cemented in my brain now, but we went on a business trip and typically I used to dress on these business trips more like BTS, like just black, simple pants, simple shirt, just because I was working.
- 54:52[SPEAKER_02]: I was like running around and stuff.
- 54:54[SPEAKER_02]: but this new trip, I actually took effort into even though I'm working behind the scenes, I was still dressed up in a way.
- 55:02[SPEAKER_02]: And I just did it because I liked the way it made me feel.
- 55:05[SPEAKER_02]: And I wanted to feel good.
- 55:08[SPEAKER_02]: And it's crazy that people that I knew or saw previously and who know me, who love me for who I am, they noticed a difference and they said something.
- 55:17[SPEAKER_00]: You just couldn't stop the compliments, bro.
- 55:19[SPEAKER_02]: Dude, it literally was uncomfortable.
- 55:21[SPEAKER_02]: It was, yeah, it was blowing my mind.
- 55:24[SPEAKER_02]: And even people I knew, but people that I didn't know, like strangers were saying something.
- 55:28[SPEAKER_02]: And it just, that, that will forever be in my brain like, wow, it does matter.
- 55:32[SPEAKER_00]: You get, it does matter.
- 55:34[SPEAKER_00]: And you get to control it.
- 55:35[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
- 55:35[SPEAKER_00]: It's not.
- 55:37[SPEAKER_00]: And, but you get to control what people think about you.
- 55:41[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
- 55:42[SPEAKER_00]: Now, there it gets to a point obviously to a level to a level because people will think what they want to think, but I'll ask you the question before we wrap this up.
- 55:52[SPEAKER_00]: Would you rather have people think great thoughts about you?
- 55:58[SPEAKER_00]: Or think nothing about you.
- 56:00[SPEAKER_00]: Not even negative.
- 56:02[SPEAKER_00]: Think nothing about you.
- 56:06[SPEAKER_00]: I would say thinking nothing about you is a negative disposition.
- 56:12[SPEAKER_00]: So 100 think about how you look these are the content secret cheat codes and I'm telling you right now I've been doing this for over 20 years and I'm still like even in this world of AI.
- 56:30[SPEAKER_00]: It's still it still matters.
- 56:32[SPEAKER_00]: How you sound.
- 56:34[SPEAKER_00]: What you choose to talk about.
- 56:38[SPEAKER_00]: what you illuminate your revelations, what you bring that you'll even find it kind of backtrack a little bit.
- 56:43[SPEAKER_00]: But the people winning the fastest online right now with their YouTube channels, their bringing revelation, they've gotten based on their experiences and people who don't know what to talk about, you don't have revelation.
- 57:02[SPEAKER_00]: So
- 57:04[SPEAKER_00]: I think maybe I'm arriving to a place of like Omar.
- 57:07[SPEAKER_00]: So what do we go, where do we go from here?
- 57:11[SPEAKER_00]: Number one, I want you to pick a content format that really does resonate with you.
- 57:15[SPEAKER_00]: Test it.
- 57:17[SPEAKER_00]: Literally, test the content formats.
- 57:18[SPEAKER_00]: Take one video idea that you have, and here's your next video idea by the way, make a video that only you can make.
- 57:26[SPEAKER_00]: Make a video only you can make.
- 57:28[SPEAKER_00]: What is something you've accomplished through your failures and experiences and your successes?
- 57:34[SPEAKER_00]: Make that video, okay?
- 57:37[SPEAKER_00]: Now, I would say, go make that video in a vlog form if you want to try it.
- 57:44[SPEAKER_00]: Or make that video and shoot it, deliver it without editing it.
- 57:50[SPEAKER_00]: In either talking head or in a live stream format,
- 57:55[SPEAKER_00]: or then test it in a conversational manner.
- 58:00[SPEAKER_00]: Go find a podcast studio or you can have one angle, by the way, for a podcast and get those wireless mics from Hollywood and I have a two-person conversation with a wide shot.
- 58:12[SPEAKER_00]: You can do that.
- 58:16[SPEAKER_00]: I promise you, if you commit to these principles for a year, your life, not only will your life not be the same, you won't be the same.
- 58:26[SPEAKER_00]: You will be a different human being.
- 58:28[SPEAKER_00]: You'll you'll communicate better, you'll know more about yourself, you'll be more comfortable in your skin, you'll be more confident, and all those things will have a ripple effect in more than just your money, of course your money, but also in the people around you and who you show up for and how you show up.
- 58:44[SPEAKER_00]: Thanks for the sponsor of this show and podcast, which is the content to cast challenge.
