Today we are in 1 Samuel 31 and 2 Samuel 1. These chapters close 1 Samuel with the tragic death of Saul and open 2 Samuel with David mourning Saul and Jonathan. The old kingdom is collapsing, but God’s purpose is still moving forward.
The simple truth is this: God’s plan continues, but disobedience still leaves sorrow behind.
The sharper truth is this: David’s heart is revealed not by how he treats his friends, but by how he responds when his enemy falls.
