- 0:27Speaker 3: I'm very well. How are you?
- 0:29Speaker 2: I'm good. How do you think we'll be at eight
- 0:31Speaker 2: pm tonight?
- 0:32Speaker 1: You well, yeah, I mean the whole world wonders the same.
- 0:39Speaker 3: You know, I'm torn.
- 0:40Speaker 1: I mean, I spend some time this morning thinking that
- 0:44Speaker 1: all of this was a great distraction after learning that
- 0:47Speaker 1: we bombed various sites on the Kurrk Island last night,
- 0:53Speaker 1: thinking that this, this whole build up of attacking bridges
- 0:57Speaker 1: and power stations with kind of a just distraction from
- 1:00Speaker 1: what we're really going to do, which was going to
- 1:02Speaker 1: do something about taking control of carg Island, which you know, Mark,
- 1:06Speaker 1: is a real different step here because it would engage
- 1:11Speaker 1: boots in the ground. It would be a very different
- 1:13Speaker 1: kind of war effort than we have engaged in right now.
- 1:17Speaker 3: So or up till now, so I don't know.
- 1:20Speaker 1: I mean, I think Trump doesn't want to have a
- 1:24Speaker 1: further escalation of this conflict. I think he really wants
- 1:27Speaker 1: to have a deal. It's really difficult because right now,
- 1:31Speaker 1: I think he was completely serious yesterday and the press
- 1:35Speaker 1: conference talking about how, you know, it's very hard to
- 1:39Speaker 1: communicate with the people we don't even know really who's
- 1:42Speaker 1: leading the conversation. He implied that there was someone on
- 1:46Speaker 1: the other side who was ready to do a deal,
- 1:49Speaker 1: but who is that we don't know. And you know,
- 1:51Speaker 1: my gosh, the cast who characters changes practically every day.
- 1:55Speaker 1: So I think the betting in the markets today started
- 2:00Speaker 1: out like, you know, we'll get a deal, and then
- 2:03Speaker 1: Iran was so clearly rebuffing US overtures and US proposals
- 2:09Speaker 1: that now the market's kind of down because you know,
- 2:13Speaker 1: there's a chance that he follows through and we bomb
- 2:18Speaker 1: a lot of infrastructure in Iran, and I think, you know,
- 2:22Speaker 1: I think the world doesn't want to.
- 2:23Speaker 3: See that happen. Frankly, I think they want a deal.
- 2:26Speaker 3: We should have a deal.
- 2:27Speaker 1: It is incredible to me that this terror regime in
- 2:33Speaker 1: Iran can hold the entire world hostage by closing the
- 2:36Speaker 1: Strait of Hormuz, and that most of our allies are
- 2:39Speaker 1: unwilling to help.
- 2:40Speaker 3: Us do anything about it. The whole thing is kind
- 2:43Speaker 3: of crazy.
- 2:44Speaker 2: Well, some people think Donald Trump has for the last
- 2:46Speaker 2: few days been trying the mad men theory. You know
- 2:49Speaker 2: that Nixon used to act like you're crazy and it'll
- 2:51Speaker 2: scare the enemy. Yeah, these people in Iran, whoever's running it,
- 2:54Speaker 2: this little group, you got to admit, they are the
- 2:57Speaker 2: most resilient resistant. What do you think would ever get
- 3:01Speaker 2: through to them? Would they ever surrender under any circumstance.
- 3:05Speaker 3: Well, that's the question, right. I think the problem is
- 3:09Speaker 3: they want.
- 3:09Speaker 1: To hold onto power, and they know there is no
- 3:12Speaker 1: kind of truce, cease fire agreement end of the war
- 3:19Speaker 1: that's going to allow that. I mean, I think that
- 3:21Speaker 1: you know, best case, they kind of go down fighting,
- 3:25Speaker 1: and that the United States gets tired of the political
- 3:28Speaker 1: pushback and.
- 3:29Speaker 3: So forth we walk away.
- 3:31Speaker 1: It would be absolutely a catastrophe if we don't finish
- 3:35Speaker 1: this thing, and by finish it, I mean making sure
- 3:38Speaker 1: there is no capacity in Iran for making a nuclear weapon. Secondly,
- 3:43Speaker 1: that we really destroy their production of missiles. I mean,
- 3:47Speaker 1: I don't think anyone knew what the stores of ballistic
- 3:51Speaker 1: missiles looked.
- 3:52Speaker 3: Like in Iran.
- 3:53Speaker 1: And also, by the way, people didn't know how advanced
- 3:56Speaker 1: they were, how far they could travel, et cetera. So
- 3:58Speaker 1: that was kind of a big heads up that this
- 4:01Speaker 1: that this very aggressive, hostile regime was.
- 4:05Speaker 3: Much better armed than anybody fogged.
- 4:09Speaker 1: But to me, the third leg of that stool is
- 4:11Speaker 1: we must never, we must not allow Iran to control
- 4:15Speaker 1: the strait of hormones because it is clearly their major
- 4:21Speaker 1: case in the hole.
- 4:21Speaker 3: It is the thing that they have.
- 4:24Speaker 1: That can threaten the entire world, not just not just
- 4:28Speaker 1: the region. It's it's China after all, in Japan who
- 4:32Speaker 1: are really struggling with a cutoff of oil. And how
- 4:36Speaker 1: can we collectively, we the developed world collectively allow this
- 4:40Speaker 1: to happen.
- 4:41Speaker 3: It's conscionable. So something has to happen.
- 4:45Speaker 1: To Cark Island or two munitions capabilities of Iran, something
- 4:51Speaker 1: that prevents this strait from again being a chokehold on
- 4:57Speaker 1: the world's economy just can't happen.
- 4:59Speaker 2: Yeah, I would think somewhere in the Pentagon they've got
- 5:01Speaker 2: plenty of battle plans on how to reopen the street
- 5:03Speaker 2: when they need to.
- 5:04Speaker 3: I agree, But having it closed.
- 5:07Speaker 2: Only hurts a ran that's their source of income, explorting.
- 5:11Speaker 1: Oil well right now though it's really hurting pretty much
- 5:14Speaker 1: everybody around the world.
- 5:15Speaker 3: I mean, the United States is in a pretty good position.
- 5:17Speaker 1: We are not looking at long gas lines and shortages,
- 5:20Speaker 1: but that's happening elsewhere. And you know, I mean, I
- 5:25Speaker 1: do look at these NATO countries that are supposed to
- 5:28Speaker 1: be our allies, for whom we are engaged in Ukraine
- 5:33Speaker 1: after all, and for whom we have been footing the
- 5:38Speaker 1: global military readiness budget for decades, and the fact that
- 5:44Speaker 1: they won't allow us to fly use flyover space in
- 5:47Speaker 1: their countries, they won't let us use their bases, et cetera.
- 5:51Speaker 1: I think it is absolutely appalling. And I think there's
- 5:54Speaker 1: a good part of the United States right now they're saying,
- 5:57Speaker 1: why are we so when to this alliance which right
- 6:01Speaker 1: now really doesn't look quite much of an alliance.
- 6:04Speaker 2: Yeah, hey, let's peak. Let's just change the subject for
- 6:07Speaker 2: a minute to get to New York City, crazy mayor Mom,
- 6:10Speaker 2: Donnie and his tax everybody tax there is. Now you've
- 6:13Speaker 2: got actually Jamie Diamond, who usually tries to stay out
- 6:16Speaker 2: of the line of fire, now standing up to him
- 6:18Speaker 2: saying we'll leave. Everybody else will leave, businesses will pull out. Yeah, well,
- 6:22Speaker 2: what do.
- 6:22Speaker 1: You think, you know, Mark, I just think these are ideologues.
- 6:27Speaker 1: There is no shortage of people willing to tell mayor
- 6:31Speaker 1: Mom Donnie that he's on the wrong track. There's no
- 6:34Speaker 1: shortage of data showing that people are leaving New York
- 6:38Speaker 1: because of high taxes and because spending is out of control,
- 6:43Speaker 1: which is driving those high taxes.
- 6:45Speaker 3: It's clearly happening.
- 6:47Speaker 1: Jamie Diamond, after all, last year told everybody that he
- 6:50Speaker 1: had more bankers in Texas now than he does in
- 6:53Speaker 1: New York. If the finance and we've already seen the
- 6:57Speaker 1: financial community need to disciplines lead country blead companies and
- 7:03Speaker 1: assets under management, and so forth to Florida and Texas,
- 7:07Speaker 1: to other states.
- 7:09Speaker 3: That are also low tax This is a death spiral.
- 7:13Speaker 1: You can't continue this without eventually really running this city
- 7:18Speaker 1: into the ground. And I say this city because this
- 7:20Speaker 1: is still my home. I mean, I you know, this
- 7:23Speaker 1: is where I do business, is where I live. And
- 7:27Speaker 1: I think it's just an appalling blindness on the part
- 7:32Speaker 1: of Mamdani and his colleagues. They really are socialists. I mean,
- 7:37Speaker 1: I think Jamie last year called them Marxists. I think
- 7:40Speaker 1: they are, I mean and as ideologues. They don't really
- 7:44Speaker 1: care about the future. They don't really care about what
- 7:48Speaker 1: it's going to look like ten or fifteen years from now.
- 7:50Speaker 3: They just want to punish the rich.
- 7:53Speaker 1: Punish the people who make the trains run in New
- 7:57Speaker 1: York City, and by the way, fund all the program
- 8:00Speaker 1: that they're so excited about. I don't know that anything
- 8:03Speaker 1: will get them off that dime. It's interesting when you
- 8:06Speaker 1: look at California right now, you know there are sort
- 8:08Speaker 1: of little bit of green shoots. I mean, San Francisco
- 8:12Speaker 1: isn't perfect, but they changed the laws that were destroying
- 8:15Speaker 1: that city because finally the people in charge said, you
- 8:19Speaker 1: know what, and the citizens said, this isn't working. We
- 8:22Speaker 1: got to change something. The quality of life stinks and
- 8:25Speaker 1: the city is going downhill. In Los Angeles, we had
- 8:29Speaker 1: on Maria Barbaroma show this morning a guy who's running
- 8:33Speaker 1: for mayor out there and he's not doing badly, considering
- 8:36Speaker 1: it is such an overwhelming as a Republican, an overwhelmingly
- 8:40Speaker 1: Democrat city. I think people are beginning to think that
- 8:44Speaker 1: they've made some bad choices. And the other thing on
- 8:47Speaker 1: the news today is the new governor of Virginia, Spamberger,
- 8:51Speaker 1: whose approval ratings are the worst for any Virginia governor
- 8:56Speaker 1: in decades. Well, you know, she came in, she ran
- 9:00Speaker 1: some matters, she came in. Now she wants to do
- 9:02Speaker 1: this very aggressive redistricting, which Virginians don't like.
- 9:06Speaker 3: Most people don't like. She's raising taxes.
- 9:09Speaker 1: You know, it would be really nice to see a
- 9:11Speaker 1: little bit of pushback to all the craziness, because for
- 9:14Speaker 1: an awful lot of us, we look at everything that
- 9:16Speaker 1: mom Johnny does, including the people he's put into positions
- 9:20Speaker 1: of importance, and just say, what is he doing? It
- 9:23Speaker 1: makes no sense. He's alienating people left and right. But
- 9:29Speaker 1: again I don't know that he cares. He's very smug,
- 9:31Speaker 1: very arrogant.
- 9:33Speaker 3: He thinks he's right.
- 9:34Speaker 2: What did George Will said? George Will said something like,
- 9:36Speaker 2: we have to do this every twenty years with one
- 9:38Speaker 2: of these crazy socialists. Do these experiments to show the
- 9:41Speaker 2: younger people how bad it is, so they learn the
- 9:43Speaker 2: lesson and then we don't have to go through it again.
- 9:46Speaker 3: You know.
- 9:46Speaker 1: Charlie Gasprino said something like that months and months ago,
- 9:50Speaker 1: when when the election was still going on. He said,
- 9:52Speaker 1: just let it burn down. You know, they'll have to
- 9:54Speaker 1: figure it out. And I was like, what a horrible
- 9:57Speaker 1: thing to say. But you know what, maybe he's right.
- 9:59Speaker 1: Maybe maybe young people have to realize that you can't
- 10:04Speaker 1: you can't kill the golden goose, and that's what they
- 10:07Speaker 1: want to do. It really is the oldest story on record.
- 10:11Speaker 1: But if you, for example, institute wealth taxes, even in
- 10:17Speaker 1: very blue states out West. They institute a wealth tax
- 10:21Speaker 1: in Washington State. They propose it in California, and guess what,
- 10:25Speaker 1: people run away. I mean, they don't have to stay there.
- 10:28Speaker 1: And if you're successful, if you've built a great business,
- 10:32Speaker 1: who are they to say that they deserve a piece
- 10:35Speaker 1: of it?
- 10:36Speaker 3: They are not.
- 10:36Speaker 1: Now, I got to tell you, Mark, my nightmare, My nightmare,
- 10:40Speaker 1: and your nightmare should be that they're going to have
- 10:42Speaker 1: an exit tax on these various states like Illinois, New Jersey, California,
- 10:46Speaker 1: New York that are losing so many people. I don't
- 10:49Speaker 1: think that's constitutional, but I have no idea, and I
- 10:52Speaker 1: know there's going to be talk about it because there's
- 10:54Speaker 1: just too many people walking out the door.
- 10:56Speaker 2: Yeah, they've talked about that exit tax. Good luck trying
- 10:58Speaker 2: to enforce that.
- 11:00Speaker 3: I hope.
