- 0:00And they did their earning live right on Twitter and I thought
- 0:02it was quite a milligram of your.
- 0:03Well, yes, sure, and I'm happy to do it.
- 0:06You've made, you've made be like, just made two promises,
- 0:09you've made two promises men. Now, you've made this one and
- 0:11you've made one to Kim about the I'm out.
- 0:13I'm out that you made a promise to Kim about the pole and I made
- 0:16a promise to hold the the Tesla meter here on spaces.
- 0:19So just I'll remind you afterwards about it as well.
- 0:22So I was, you know, I was getting a lot of press, I will,
- 0:26I will do them. Yeah, so I've been getting a lot
- 0:29of questions. We're just bombarding, me just
- 0:31ask you it, you know, when this thing you're asking what are you
- 0:34going to do about the shadow banking situation?
- 0:36Because like I'm coarsely search band, I'm not Shadow bad but I
- 0:39have searched back Anna I'm not sure what's even up with that.
- 0:44Yeah, I mean like said I've only been on the job a month as
- 0:50definitely. I've got a long list of things
- 0:52but but there needs to be a general, the same like your
- 0:57account should actually just tell you you are suspended for
- 1:00you are deep-rooted or whatever it is.
- 1:02And why and what the process is for?
- 1:04Now that this week actually tell you that the we did we were
- 1:08probably a little overzealous and that's anything that's
- 1:11about. That's my fault because I'm just
- 1:14trying to Rid of the bamboo absence, I'm in Boston stuff,
- 1:17and in trying to stand out or do stuff, but spent stuff, there
- 1:23will be some false positives. So that's just this week, it's
- 1:28taking a leaf like this can mean it wrote it for the journey
- 1:32towards towards truth and towards a healthier system.
- 1:35So be patient at any given point will be broken but you will be
- 1:40moving as quickly as possible towards a good place.
- 1:43And I encourage you to Able to complain about it and whatnot
- 1:47but just it it will, it will move in early it sort of leads
- 1:51towards good place. That's go and get a pretty bass
- 1:56on the net. Rebecca at some of those is
- 1:59over. I'm using him.
- 2:02Yeah thank you. Check my chattering programs
- 2:04came, check my candied yams Kim. Check my ideas because I haven't
- 2:08glitches. So I might need your help with a
- 2:09few things like the back. Yep.
- 2:16Yep. Yeah, you back another.
- 2:18Another question, I think you made a reference wants to reach
- 2:20a lie. Those a while ago now don't
- 2:22recall. It correctly.
- 2:23Is it does that reference still stand today?
- 2:26Is that potential vision for Twitter?
- 2:30Yeah, I'm just saying reach out as an example.
- 2:33Some like you would copy we kept exactly but it's just we can't.
- 2:37There's a lot of has a lot of functionality that Twitter
- 2:40should have like kind of a no-brainer for Twitter to help
- 2:43convince both parents and crook to try to make that that easy
- 2:47and simple for people that odor adding the ability to post long
- 2:51form written content, content, help monetize that easily and
- 2:57nice of a playlist. You know, like YouTube dust.
- 3:01Yeah, that's what my focus in the first month and also will be
- 3:08in December. Is just you sure that that twit
- 3:11that Twitter is operating? We as a company, it is not waste
- 3:15money. This challenge is on the rep.
- 3:19From, with an over-dependence on Advertising.
- 3:22That is not talked like brand advertising.
- 3:25And and, and in a market where advertising Revenue in general
- 3:28is dropped. And then also, when you start
- 3:30questioning games as Kuo, you know, various pressure groups,
- 3:34start pressuring advertisers to not advertisement.
- 3:37So that's another challenge on the revenue front and then that
- 3:43and the the bed has not has very high interest.
- 3:46Like these are a lot of challenges that I think will,
- 3:51you know, will solve these challenges.
- 3:53These are a lot of things to solve.
- 3:55So, the first order of business is just get Twitter healthy.
- 3:57Make sure, which is our reasonable that.
- 4:01You click Twitter's like, primarily a software company.
- 4:03They're obviously Design Elements, but it's primarily
- 4:05software and servers. And so like, if the software,
- 4:08it's organized, well, was that encode writing?
- 4:12Good code and just put that The engine of engineering work at
- 4:18Twitter. We get you.
- 4:18Look it's like what is Twitter's evolution of the technology
- 4:22Evolution over time? Excluding Acquisitions and very
- 4:25low. Technology has been very slow
- 4:29and it's an edit button. Yeah exactly.
- 4:32The edit button look. I mean if it takes a year to do
- 4:35an edit button and the edit button still doesn't work
- 4:37properly, then you can have a million good ideas very relevant
- 4:41because you can Implement them set sail on.
- 4:44I've got a quick question for you.
- 4:45My friend I was removed from the way I want to test my mic.
- 4:48You guys hear me? I can hear you.
- 4:50Maybe you can't. Can you hear me, Alex?
- 4:51We can, we can ya got Alex up. Okay.
- 4:57Does Alex going to go and then I can go.
- 5:00Can you hear me? Yeah.
- 5:03Yeah. Okay.
- 5:04So my question was if the literature tells her husband
- 5:10also going to engagement ring other ones or other than.
- 5:15But so basically all of these. Yeah aren't Alex.
- 5:20That Mario, we can't hear you. This is a bit of an audio or
- 5:25shit show. That's right, get this back on
- 5:28the road, I unmuted everywhere. And I muted, everyone.
- 5:31I'm going to unmute those who are not talking, just a mute
- 5:35yourself, please. I would like to ask a down the
- 5:39creek - again, I think Alex just did, and he was ready to
- 5:44respond. He just now would have to unmute
- 5:46himself to respond the Alex. Yeah, I was just wondering, if
- 5:51all all accounts that were requested to have things taken
- 5:55down by the DNC, and by the Biden campaign, even ones that
- 5:59have nothing to do with a hunter, Biden laptop, if they
- 6:02will also be released on your you didn't.
- 6:04He said to unmute you? Yep. all right, intends to
- 6:09release all the files so it's not like anything that's you
- 6:13know, any I can't hear anybody. He dropped.
- 6:18Our is my mic. Good came, by the way, is in my
- 6:20mic, okay? Because it's like, you are, you
- 6:22are okay. Do you think that Twitter could
- 7:02also like have an automatic notification if anyone was there
- 7:10was requested? Comment, taken down?
- 7:13Do you think there could be something like that?
- 7:14Well method, you're like a VPN sites actually offer that.
- 7:17Yeah, I mean it's like like a government had has a request or
- 7:22something like that. Yeah, yeah.
- 7:24The government says hey we won. I mean, I think yeah.
- 7:27Like first Germany would let you know, right?
- 7:29So why doesn't America Or with James Woods.
- 7:32For example, how his content was there requested, his content be
- 7:35removed. Say if that happened for the
- 7:38like the Biden campaign. Yeah, I think both past future
- 7:42requests made public and assigns sometimes a great disinfectant.
- 7:49Yes you know electric request does that are embarrassed and
- 7:54they'll be less likely to reflect those but you know at
- 7:58the end of the day but it doesn't have a choice.
- 8:00Choice. But bide by the laws of, you
- 8:03know, us and what and M and whatever countries is operating
- 8:06and God wives get arrested. We shouldn't do more than that.
- 8:10It should be by bylaws because you have to and you know, there
- 8:15may be there may be some potential to say like, well, if
- 8:17you're just gives a little maybe we can Lobby to have a more
- 8:19chains or something like that. But just so, you know, I want to
- 8:22ask you on this point. Go ahead.
- 8:24Sorry. No, I'm probably like like the
- 8:27overarching goal here. Is that on balance that quarter
- 8:31be post for your trip, civilization, that, and for the
- 8:36expression of consciousness, Like that.
- 8:40So to that point, I want to ask you then because I'm speaking
- 8:43from the European lands. What do you think about the eu's
- 8:46proposals over potential restrictions to The Observers
- 8:49and you'll bit all equally, I know you had a little bit of a
- 8:53Charisse, a Fanfare with Alex Benjamin earlier this week.
- 8:56I was wondering if you would be interested in a space with you
- 8:59and him since I know him from the roof ago, we had a chat I
- 9:03invite you, do you ride? Wait what do you mean?
- 9:04Would you be interested if you'd be interested?
- 9:08Don't don't waste your time with the intelligence Community, but
- 9:15I am curious about your thoughts on the European Union.
- 9:18Well, actually, a lot of being the EU rules crawl, crawl for
- 9:25things. I agree way.
- 9:27Transparency, and it's an ability for, for users to appeal
- 9:33and they have a process. So I think I get terms of the
- 9:38Digital Services act. I think it's mostly good.
- 9:42I think we will watch the implementation of it and make
- 9:44sure the implementation does not is not your bad board, that will
- 9:48Europe but the actual, you know, I think most of what is in
- 9:52there. I agree with, you know, because
- 9:54it's transparency and accountability seems quite
- 9:57sensible. We're just make sure that that
- 9:59is not warped in a bad Direction.
- 10:01But it generally, I, you know, I realize that or what I know of
- 10:05it. I have a question for you.
- 10:09You want to Define what misinformation or ins this
- 10:15information is, right? I mean that is probably the most
- 10:18dangerous development to give Providence.
- 10:20That kind of power that they become the deciders of what is,
- 10:25and what is not, ya know that that is a big deal.
- 10:29I agree. That is Best Bets that goes to
- 10:31the heart of the situation. Is that Don't want to
- 10:36governments and especially it may not even be some elected
- 10:40official me. He's done wonders.
- 10:42He wrote a mid-level in a Ministry who's deciding this
- 10:47every were people don't even know exists and was never
- 10:50elected despite being a democratic country.
- 10:53So what about the kind of program?
- 10:55What role do you think that Twitter can have in helping to
- 10:58support Iran? Ukraine, China, and other
- 11:01countries that are facing you know, technological oppression
- 11:04and limitation in the our access to freedom of speech.
- 11:10Well. Like I said, we will do,
- 11:14whatever is possible within the bounds of the law, so he live,
- 11:18but kind of a personal question. I've been curious, you know,
- 11:21what's their breaking point? That made you decide what by
- 11:23Twitter? Band is this good question.
- 11:30Thank you. I was hoping you would say the
- 11:38child exploitation that you've done more to get rid of in the
- 11:41past month and they did in the past 10 years on Twitter and I
- 11:45wanted to thank you for that and I'm sorry that the media is
- 11:47completely snubbed you on mentioning the fact that you
- 11:50guys have gone above and beyond to make that happen and Eliza
- 11:54blue thank you for your work and efforts there.
- 11:57Yeah, let's say baby eagle eyes of like as well.
- 12:02We wrecked at this is like a really good crowd sourcing on
- 12:09Twitter actually helps. So the child and it's actually
- 12:13it is, it is true. Yes.
- 12:15But last month and probably the last 10 years that since it kind
- 12:20of blows my mind, frankly, and we're going to keep doing it and
- 12:22it's always going to be no one. I mean, it's like kids
- 12:25themselves. We Just felt so.
- 12:33Yeah. Mario, we can't hear you.
- 12:39Now, you just sound like you like a mosquito now?
- 12:43Sounds like he's in the toilet. Be honest.
- 12:47We want do you stop plans to drop the W?
- 12:50Everyone is asking technically the polled.
- 12:54Come out positive on that. The people have spoken.
- 12:58I know other people have not spoken but motivate Christian.
- 13:01Like I don't think we answered that like I want to know like
- 13:04what was the breaking point. I think a lot of people want to
- 13:06know this one was a breaking point that made you want to buy
- 13:09Twitter. This show is brought to you by
- 13:14backblaze. I use back place to back up my

- 15:09card required go there sign up I you with it it's really
- 15:13powerful. It is really easy to use so go
- 15:15to back place.com slash Ilan back plays.com Ilan
- 15:21backblaze.com, Ilan. Well, first of all I close I
- 15:30quarter had been like been able so by Twitter sooner than I
- 15:35might have actually done that. That's you know they have to be
- 15:38at work by situation where my liquidity was enough quitters
- 15:43value. Is whether whether you know they
- 15:48were those tips actually comprised like weird.
- 15:52I actually have but that wasn't its until recently, but I guess
- 15:58the it just felt like It really been building for for some time.
- 16:04So I wouldn't say there was like it wasn't like a step change,
- 16:06suddenly was this is one thing is like oh and if I'm going to
- 16:11be got banned that's why I voted for her.
- 16:13That would be crazy. It's more that the the just like
- 16:17this more and more groups, think amongst the media, more and more
- 16:22sort of Towing, the line amongst digital social media companies
- 16:27and basically just we're traveling the path.
- 16:32More and more of sort of, suppression of free speech.
- 16:36And this was just getting me concerned.
- 16:40It's like, the trends were just very, very bad.
- 16:43So, unless something was done to reverse, this trend is Free
- 16:46Speech. Then I felt.
- 16:48Well, maybe that they're, you know, at some point, everything
- 16:51will just cut off. And unless you're in agreement,
- 16:55with whatever the group gets, then you're just going to be
- 16:58ostracized or your voice will be shuttle.
- 17:02So like I said, it wasn't any one thing.
- 17:04It was just like a I think and then I could I can't exactly say
- 17:09why because it's like one of those things where it's like it
- 17:12might just say that my biological mural mad girl that's
- 17:17important to buy Twitter and or just like with a digital neural
- 17:21net you can't really Zachary explain why the new old man is
- 17:25able to understand infants or text or just say that that the
- 17:33collective result of the neural net that this is an important
- 17:36action for this is the right action and my biological neural
- 17:39Nets concluded that is important to buy Twitter and then it was
- 17:45not port and seared in a great Direction.
- 17:50It would danger for servicing Mission.
- 17:53And so that's why I, that's why I bought it.
- 17:57That's brilliant. You don't have been married
- 17:59since you mentioned the biological neural net, and the
- 18:03digital neural net. When is you were linked to be
- 18:08ready to copy our Consciousness into a vent please?
- 18:11Connects, I never. Where can I sign up for it?
- 18:13Because I would love to have my green augmented.
- 18:17It's like cyberpunks. Yeah, exactly.
- 18:20It's got a cool cyberpunk. At this point is that I'm sure
- 18:28you're familiar with dr. Who write and the Cybermen.
- 18:31And this idea of the centralized system, by which you can
- 18:34influence people's thoughts, is that not a consideration that
- 18:37you have on your Rector if you get what I'm coming from, Well,
- 18:41I mean on the the neural neuro other neural link front if I
- 18:48look at the pace at which artificial intelligence is
- 18:51improved versus the pace of which mirror link is staying
- 18:56artificial intelligence is moving much faster than the
- 18:59neural link is moving because as soon as it gets done with wins
- 19:03gets very slow because of the danger to humans.
- 19:06So the short that mean for the next few years your link is
- 19:10really Just focused on restoring movement will then have a broken
- 19:13neck or spine and restoring Vision restoring movement
- 19:18envisioned. It's not uploading memories or
- 19:20controlling thoughts or anything like that.
- 19:22It's pretty basic. So it's like the early days of
- 19:25computers, you know? It's beat that with its life
- 19:27changing though, right? I mean, being able to see if you
- 19:30born blind, that if there's the gift that I don't think, you
- 19:34know, anyone pass up, that would be amazing.
- 19:37Yeah, and that's very doable. You know what I'm saying?
- 19:40About neural link is that you'll be able to see anything in your
- 19:43links, you'll be able to see coming from very far off, like
- 19:48like, because you've got to go through the whole FDA device
- 19:51approval process, that takes an ages.
- 19:53You better evaluate the safety increments and that takes a long
- 19:57time. And basically, it's very slow,
- 20:01the development of digital supervillain for a long time
- 20:06that we ought to Cautious in the development of digital
- 20:09superintelligence, this represents a danger to the
- 20:13public just said, we have other Regulatory Agencies over just
- 20:18the public like FDA or the if it were known if you want to be
- 20:22number, rip it does. are you what you have to just have
- 20:30companies is going Hog Wild on developing digital
- 20:36superintelligence with no of advice, do potentially see this
- 20:39happening in a country where there are no oversights, you
- 20:42know, where the government's allow the you know, scientists
- 20:45to do to go Hog Wild is he said, Well.
- 21:00Look, we there's the things we can control, the things, we
- 21:02can't control. Thank you.
- 21:04But this should be some kind of oversee kin, you know, North
- 21:08America Europe, which is where a lot of the AI Innovation is
- 21:11happening. There should be some kind of
- 21:13outside Beyond nothing, which is currently the case, how the body
- 21:17fabric we are from General artificial intelligence like
- 21:21what is your time frame? You think until we have the big,
- 21:24the big deal. I mean, I think it's happening,
- 21:34very fast. You have said, like G is defined
- 21:36by where where digital super intelligence is smarter than the
- 21:40smartest. What is your definition of AGI?
- 21:44Yeah, exactly. I mean, once one's the AI is
- 21:47able to basically program itself and understands how to how to
- 21:51advance itself, that would be the level where we need to start
- 21:55to worry, right? Yeah, you were all set to add to
- 22:05that. Ain't on.
- 22:05I mean, what about this, you know, last year after the
- 22:07pandemic, we had the great resignation.
- 22:10Now, there's the concern about the basements of traditional
- 22:13labor jobs, which is, you know, Ai and machine technology.
- 22:17I think it was you that, you know, I saw the video eat when
- 22:19the capacity for it to control things with its mind is not a
- 22:23concern about potential impact. It has on very menial job to me
- 22:27you know those people doing don't have necessarily the
- 22:30skills. You to retrain that quickly just
- 22:34you know, how can we plan in advance to minimize the
- 22:37consequent? Sorry the video.
- 22:43The audio is like not good right now, so I don't know.
- 22:46Worst. Hey, Mario can have another
- 22:53space sometime in the future to talk about AI, because I think
- 22:57that is one of the big topics, you know, where a lot of people
- 23:00don't really realize how big the risk of AI is and what you are
- 23:05always asking for is, you know, more regulation, better rules in
- 23:09order to prevent the worst case scenario of yes and a GI taking
- 23:15over and basically wiping out like a Tartan and then obviously
- 23:19no job. No.
- 23:20I mean my journey has basically replaced graphic artist for book
- 23:24covers killer, you don't need a book artist anymore.
- 23:26You can just do it with a. I am not not the change the
- 23:30subject back to the porter files but Kim I try.
- 23:33I want to ask you on a quick question about section 230.
- 23:38Are you concerned about that now?
- 23:41And what the government could potentially do to section 230,
- 23:45as a result of the flattening that you're creating at Twitter
- 23:49and all the Route that you're pushing out of the objectivity.
- 23:54Well. I think it is.
- 23:59So we're publicly. It is that that we actually that
- 24:03house will be Republican. It's like it's generally, not a
- 24:08good idea. U.s.
- 24:11If the house and executive branch are all of one party.
- 24:16Then you have a situation though, it's good to have at
- 24:21least one of those branches. Me Ella party, then they will,
- 24:25then they will check the worst excesses of both parties.
- 24:28So I think it's quite as good that the house will be
- 24:31Republican. This provoked or interpreters
- 24:36that is like, oh, I must be so a Republican or something.
- 24:39It's like, no, I'm a moderate. Actually is what I am.
- 24:43It's like, I wish people were curiously.
- 24:45Moderate, but, like, by its nature of being water, it's is
- 24:48not. It is not lend itself.
- 24:50Either you don't be like, be fantastically moderate, that's
- 24:55but bananas. Mm.
- 24:56Thick tip and more radical Centrist than I think some
- 24:59YouTubers like to say, right? Be a radical Centrist, huh?
- 25:03Yeah. Then it's just like, like, you
- 25:06want to have the government passed laws that are in the best
- 25:09interest of the people not that are in, that are just a small
- 25:13sections of the people. And so, that's why that you'd
- 25:16like, if you have a mixture of parties in control, then then
- 25:20then they will pass only things that sort of are the
- 25:22intersection of sets of what both parties agree on which is
- 25:25more likely to be in the interest of the people.
- 25:27So I think I probably because I feel pretty okay about that.
- 25:30A section 230 stuff. Yeah, he Lon Can you accept just
- 25:34quickly, guys? Can you can you hear me now or
- 25:36no, we got it. Yeah, I've just got, I've just
- 25:39got back. I've just, yeah, I've just got,
- 25:40I've got great speakers. I just came up because now, it's
- 25:43not glitching for me anymore. So, I've just welcomed Clayton,
- 25:46Patrick, but David's on stage as well.
- 25:48And there's more speakers about to come up that all of you would
- 25:50know. Now, my space is working.
- 25:51So guys, feel free to jump in and ask it on any question you.
- 25:54Thank you. Thank you so much.
- 25:55You want to retry the curl? Those things feel Mario.
- 25:58I will not. I will not.
- 25:59Yeah, go ahead and then Patrick. Thank you.
- 26:03This is Clayton from redacted. One of the stories we've been
- 26:06covering on our show, over the past couple of months is Doctor
- 26:10shiva's lawsuit. He was banned from Twitter
- 26:15running for the Senate from Massachusetts.
- 26:17And one of the things that his lawsuit that was uncovered was
- 26:20the backend, government portal to both Facebook and Twitter.
- 26:25The Tweet, they trusted Twitter partnership, and I know on
- 26:28Twitter and blog that trusted Twitter partnership between
- 26:32Twitter, someone with a government email with your
- 26:35nation, approaching on to Twitter, And basically have
- 26:40pounds band taken down is that portal is that trusted
- 26:45Partnerships? Still available to the
- 26:47government and given what you've released in the Twitter files.
- 26:49Does it make sense for that to still be there?
- 26:52I got to dig into the, you know, obviously that has like brother
- 26:57Vibes said, you know What a whole adhere to the law but
- 27:03better will not do you know, it's not going to go to go
- 27:05beyond the lowland and if they're lost that call then.
- 27:23I do. What did I lost?
- 27:25You and your wife, you're doing an amazing job, so keep it
- 27:28going. Eric, did you have Eric
- 27:32Sebastian, do you have a queen? Yeah, I do the prior question,
- 27:38Ilan in the Twitter in, you know, the Twitter files, the
- 27:41things that you found. Did you find any relationship
- 27:45between Facebook and any other Tick-Tock?
- 27:47Whoever whomever with regards to what could be considered, you
- 27:52know, the collusion with the certain political parties was it
- 27:55was it another was there any collusion among other social
- 27:58media groups with Twitter? I've not directly seen And I'm
- 28:01not saying it doesn't exist, I've not yet.
- 28:04In fact the Soviet the Twitter files.
- 28:07I Matt Matt Seabees read way more than I have like butt by a
- 28:11ton. My priority of just getting to
- 28:14her healthy. It's saying Twitter engineering
- 28:16so that we release teachers at a hot at a high rate so that's
- 28:21you're my priority on the Twitter, Friday's do better,
- 28:25financially healthy plays fix the engine of engineering.
- 28:28So we're gonna add the features and capabilities that Better
- 28:31better make it much better and improve transparency and Trust
- 28:34in the lat. Actually I do most of the stuff
- 28:39I've read hobby. Any of the profiles that maybe
- 28:41has been very, very wide supposed to getting access to
- 28:43it. So feel free to have you been in
- 28:45contact with any of the other social platforms meta, Google
- 28:49Etc. Since the release of the files
- 28:51has there been any pushback and you concerns anything at all?
- 28:54Or it's been pretty quiet that reached out to me.
- 28:57I'm not aware of any, any Outreach from them, I guess.
- 29:00If I think, if this, if it turns out, there's, like, stuff for
- 29:04the public to know about, and we'll put it out there, and I
- 29:08told whatever, Matt Matt said baby and Barry Weiss.
- 29:12Hey, listen, whatever you see, you think public know about it?
- 29:17The poster. With regards to the
- 29:20dissemination of information. So, right now, it's Matt,
- 29:23Taibbi, and Barry Weiss. You have any plans to maybe give
- 29:26it give access to more journalists like say Ryan Savita
- 29:29of daily wire Jackman Staubach. You know he's somewhat covered
- 29:32on this stuff even previously so I'm sure they'd love to know.
- 29:36Yeah, I did my part maybe at some point we should just like
- 29:38put it all out there, you know, if they're cycling in the
- 29:41beginning. It's good to have some car here
- 29:44and, you know. So it's not just a million
- 29:45stories all at once. Yeah, makes sense.
- 29:47Yeah, it's a drip feed at first and then later on Going to be a
- 29:50flat, right? Because otherwise, it's a too
- 29:52many stories too much all at once in them.
- 29:54People can't really focus on anything.
- 29:56Yeah, make sense. Yeah, you just you just get
- 29:57drowned out in the flood of things but I think I think you
- 30:00know once we think about the stories have the critical
- 30:04stories have been told. Then I'd probably the right move
- 30:06is to just you know, provide a data dump and then go through it
- 30:10and see what was missed. Are you so are you surprised at
- 30:15all about the, the the blowback against Matt, Taibbi over the
- 30:18past 24 hours, a number of a number of roll news
- 30:24organizations. A lot of liberal news reporters
- 30:27came out and really slammed Matt Taibbi which really was really
- 30:31shocking. What was your response to that?
- 30:33Well I think those people should be looking in the mirror and
- 30:37wondering why they were to say. Why did they just the American
- 30:40public? And instead of trying to
- 30:42redirect blame Matt's accepting some responsibility themselves
- 30:47for not being truthful, to the American public.
- 30:52But he loves you right Ilan, it's Mike Cohen here.
- 30:55Congratulations on. Of course, the acquisition of
- 30:58Twitter, but my question to you is, how are you going to go
- 31:01about combating? The issue of Bot and Bot forms
- 31:05who creates so much misinformation and hate on your
- 31:08platform. The last thing I do, I will
- 31:12defeat the damn bus controls. Maybe didn't leave it like a
- 31:14mind, virus that purchase them, just make him self-destruct.
- 31:17Yeah, I mean, You know. It's War at its word and and
- 31:26we're going to win that war big time.
- 31:28Yeah. Because I'm confident you will
- 31:30and think I think the extent of the hatred that these Bots cause
- 31:35is astronomically and it's really terrible.
- 31:38But thank you for thank you for your commitment to that after
- 31:41Mike can I can I jump in and ask a question here.
- 31:43Michael devil just really quick, just real quick.
- 31:45I wanted to say something about the bots so there are of course,
- 31:50commercial boards, right? People trying to do spam.
- 31:53But the more dangerous sports are those that are trying to
- 31:56interfere in this course. And you know, try to manipulate
- 32:01the conversation and those are primarily run by governance,
- 32:05right? They're run by the intelligence
- 32:07community in different countries.
- 32:09They're trying to manipulate the way people are talking, for
- 32:13example, about your brain. I think one of the more famous
- 32:17examples here are these so-called now for Bots that are
- 32:20going out and shooting everyone down your people.
- 32:23Yeah. Austin is where them, they're
- 32:25mixing it. Right?
- 32:26So the intelligence Community, does it in that way.
- 32:29They have real people, then they have bought sort of 40 order,
- 32:32made it and then they even let their intelligence community and
- 32:36boys to work with Twitter profiles trying as well.
- 32:40But all with one goal which is to liquidate the public
- 32:43discourse Words, Their Grooms. And I think you experienced that
- 32:48yourself when you spoke out for her keys and you refrain you
- 32:51were attacked by these things. Vaughn's.
- 32:54Yeah, no absolutely. So like I said, like I said, you
- 32:57know, the job of the month. I'm very good at software
- 33:00arrests are for 20 years, and I was very good back in the day
- 33:05being the members and they, they were just like there were just
- 33:13had the Bad actors. Had free rein in the system
- 33:16before they will not have that in the future.
- 33:18I look forward to that battle and we will expose those who are
- 33:22acting to manipulate. Look at the inn and shine, a
- 33:24bright light on it. Fantastic.
- 33:26Hey, Kim, exactly. Ask a quick question on that.
- 33:29The same topic because there was a point at which I was told by
- 33:33someone who have helped had access to this Discord server
- 33:36for these NATO or NATO trolls that I was among their top
- 33:39targets or even the number one target for a while.
- 33:42So I'm just sort of a personal curiosity, by the way.
- 33:44This is Michael trace and so Ilan.
- 33:46I'm curious, if you were able to detect or gauge any inauthentic
- 33:52activity, On Twitter specifically related to this
- 33:56sort of pro-ukraine faction or you know, is there with their a
- 34:01particular sort of very system that kind of connects those
- 34:05actors that you were able to discern since you've taken the
- 34:09helm. Well the the tools that Twitter
- 34:11turned Lee has logical relation R.
- 34:15That's why but in order for that to put them through strength of
- 34:17we must like both the ends in the fridge and we'll just sort
- 34:21of see what's going on in the system.
- 34:23I mean over and over again, is we're like we're doesn't know
- 34:28what's going on in Twitter, that that's actually the issue.
- 34:31So both the tools that can analyze what's going on and see
- 34:34where is there evidence of large-scale manipulation?
- 34:38And in order to to highlight it, and even if it's not shut down,
- 34:43if it is simply highlighted, instead of wasting these, these
- 34:46accounts were all acting in concert are acting in a way that
- 34:49is faster than they could possibly coordinate.
- 34:53The this would be a linked, you know, 100,000 Baht slinked that
- 34:57are all acting in concert and and just get em hundred there.
- 35:02We expose them essentially, but but those software tools need to
- 35:06be written. And they have not yet been
- 35:07written there, but they will be, it's all right.
- 35:39To ensure that the individual is who they say they are.
- 35:43Yes. And now that a lot of was fine
- 35:48with the sort of, you know, Bluebird I think, is that that
- 35:52right now? It is their problems on many
- 35:55levels. It's too cheap to have a buzzes
- 35:59Horry and even a troll like its operating.
- 36:03I want, you know, Thousand instances of her accounts, you
- 36:09know, you know, interpret back to PCS, you know, it's a
- 36:16warehouse with an r in the possible, like Warehouse with
- 36:20banks bones actually are operated by people that the, the
- 36:25challenge right now, it was a challenge is actually, you have
- 36:28to make more expensive. See you brought some trolls.
- 36:33There was a guy sitting in front of eight phones, right?
- 36:36That's just how it up. He is like, the Farms are
- 36:38guiding from headphones and he did well, unfortunately, the the
- 36:43distant for mates and budget for the CIA for these.
- 36:47Now, for Bots, has over a hundred million dollars.
- 36:49I mean, even if you throw eight dollars per month, per account
- 36:54in front of them, it's not idea. Is that going to stop them?
- 36:56Not to $8 third floor theory that I think.
- 37:03Could overcome a budget challenge also, then having to
- 37:09make sure the number of bones and the number of credit or
- 37:12debit cards that because all Amplified difficulty and and and
- 37:17and then of having, if you want to do it, quit that there's much
- 37:20that you can't find any connection between 100,000
- 37:24phones and hundred thousand credit cards and 100,000 you
- 37:27know, record numbers are equal to just be we look mystical
- 37:32difficulty of that is free. In Lehi.
- 37:36So it's more like we need to process some of my money through
- 37:39the payment system in order to be back off the system dollars,
- 37:44kind of like a random number. Obviously, there's another thing
- 37:47that I had accomplished symbol taneous lie which is that
- 37:50Twitter cannot be like so heavily on advertisers.
- 37:54So this is there to kill two birds with one stone, you know,
- 37:57which is that which is world and build a source of Revenue, that
- 38:01is not advertised pendant that they advertise this happen.
- 38:06It's way over what Twitter also use the payment system as an
- 38:11additional means of identifying and stopping lat system.
- 38:17And just stop this for a second
- 38:40because everyone is talking over each other.
- 38:42Elon just made a really important point which is that he
- 38:47has more freedom to do what is good for his users, if he is
- 38:52less dependent on advertisers. So there's a large group of
- 38:56people here. I think everyone who appreciates
- 38:59what Iran is doing for us right now, this fight for freedom of
- 39:03speech should support him and the best way you can support him
- 39:07is to become a subscriber at Twitter.
- 39:09You're using this great service all the time if you want him to
- 39:13have more power and more freedom to the thief.
- 39:16Schools for us. Well you know make that eight
- 39:19dollars a month investment. I think it's really worth it.
- 39:22The price of a lot of your honor.
- 39:23Did he want already say wedding plans to reinstate the
- 39:26verification that a dollar verification process.
- 39:30You are not. Sorry.
- 39:35I think we're probably about a week away, maybe it is this
- 39:43coming week, we should be able to restart the verification
- 39:45process. Will it be Global or is it just
- 39:47that you do is still actually discuss that with it?
- 39:50So this time for verification we're taking some additional
- 39:54steps where one has phone where phone verified with a note area
- 40:01and good phone carrier and Penton browser.
- 40:04Will offer people the opportunity.
- 40:06If they want to do ID verification kind of like what
- 40:09Airbnb does the similar thing and maybe that all around the
- 40:12world and then you'll be able to look at account and so does the
- 40:16Verify verify it is like the perfect option and also to
- 40:21establish an organizational ability ation.
- 40:22Do you actually with this organization is providing
- 40:26organizations with their abilities to find to to stack,
- 40:31which set of users are affiliated with that
- 40:33organizations? Like all you accent Professor
- 40:35is, or are you actually for a reporter at me or whatever or an
- 40:41employee go or whatever? It's just generally, You have
- 40:46granularity and Nuance to what verified means as opposed to the
- 40:51sort of like grab grab, grab bag of nonsense, which is the past
- 40:56rare situation where, you know, Matthew will go.
- 41:01And you've got, we verified and it's going to print the or and
- 41:05and then, there were also rated constantly goodbye verify badge.
- 41:11You can tell it's a big Legacy, can't tell.
- 41:16It's if that is not legit situation scam, whether they're
- 41:21a tree or other poetry Journal because there's no granularity
- 41:25to it. And there was one of the riddle
- 41:26by them out of off of Google right now, like, you can
- 41:29literally Google verified accounts and they sell them for
- 41:31like 200 500 dollars or something, right?
- 41:34Yes, exactly. It's exactly it but it's not
- 41:36like rebirth. It's like not like have to go to
- 41:38the import dark wet. It's your quite survive.
- 41:42We verified literally Google search, I'm supporting, and it's
- 41:46one. Page one of the Google search
- 41:47results if you want and they verified just basically if it's
- 41:53just a quick and as so we need to move forward with something
- 41:58that that is gives granularity and detail and Nuance about the
- 42:04nature of the verification and actually reproduce.
- 42:09If you want, you said to not really admirable things about
- 42:12freedom of speech and your commitment to it and its role in
- 42:14the future of humanity. You didn't answer the question
- 42:16about supporting protesters in China and our bond is there.
- 42:20Freedom of speech, freedom suits for Chinese people and poor,
- 42:23Tony band or Humanity in China. I just put, you know, like
- 42:26Twitter, is it accessible inside.
- 42:28So it's kind of a pointless question.
- 42:30So you don't think making it accessible for Chinese or
- 42:33Ronnie. Doesn't matter.
- 42:34Sobbing nice. Right?
- 42:35Yeah, it's not. It's not, it's not blocking it.
- 42:39Tom and Tammy had a question. That was terrible.
- 42:44Okay, go ahead. Well good.
- 42:47So a student of the freedom of speech is Sebastian goal.
- 42:50It's a lot of people use that. It's a First Amendment issue.
- 42:54What was doubt by Matt Taibbi, the First Amendment concerns in
- 42:59government suppression. So anything that happened before
- 43:01January than 20 years is a First Amendment unless it was the bide
- 43:06Administration after his search. For those who think that you
- 43:09know, we've got the Smoking Gun and they don't need to wait for
- 43:11anything else give you a Is that issue is the most in here?
- 43:16Yeah. I mean well first of all
- 43:17actually they there are issues with like parents report so that
- 43:22that's that's that that is I think an issue.
- 43:25It's the Twitter I would appear the Twitter falsely claimed that
- 43:29there was not any parent, right? But that has to be that has to
- 43:34do with in-kind contributions. That's very kind of you.
- 43:37It is Criminal. But can you tell us if there's
- 43:40that you know, there will be more smoking.
- 43:41Guns Cummings. Yeah, I think they will be more
- 43:45stock. To be obvious.
- 43:46Next question is well what happened after the election?
- 43:50Exactly, exactly. That's probably the right thing
- 43:54for episode 2. Is what happened after the
- 43:56election? And how long do we have to wait
- 43:58for episode 2? I don't know this mad because
- 44:09you didn't address this earlier. Appreciate how long you've been
- 44:12on this call? What subjects outside of Hunter
- 44:16B? This is Will Kane from Fox News.
- 44:18What subjects outside of Hunter, Biden were subject to the most
- 44:22government in new censorship. As you may not have heard my
- 44:29only comment. I don't actually, like I said,
- 44:32I've been free personally. I've been working on getting
- 44:36Twitter to healthy fixing the engineering.
- 44:38I've not been sort of pouring over the Twitter pile.
- 44:41Personally, that's sort of been, you know, Matt is doing that is
- 44:44very wise known as well. So as they would be somewhat of
- 44:48a, you know, yes, that's wearily, but a lot of questions
- 44:53around X, there's questions around But there's a lot of
- 44:57questions, but I think the important thing is that we just
- 45:00bringing daylight through all of these things.
- 45:03And so, anything that Critter has done and sometimes think a
- 45:07lot of times Twitter's done think they were just not, it
- 45:12wasn't malicious, it was foolish.
- 45:14Things that are like me looking people for NPC for posting, NPC
- 45:18means that thousands of people were banned.
- 45:20Yeah, exactly. From it from a, just good
- 45:25question. With the companies have stopped
- 45:26advertising on Twitter, which I think most of us agrees is just
- 45:29not right. Has there been any progress
- 45:32since have you been in discussions with them and what
- 45:34are some other strategies to bring in Revenue?
- 45:36So we depend Less on advertisers Keep him here in this is Eric
- 45:42Bolling. Again, any knowledge or have any
- 45:47dream that those. There is some indication that a
- 45:51lot of people on the right side of the political aisle, lost a
- 45:55ton of followers, I would say, from 2018, 2016, all the way
- 45:59through, you know, towards the end of 2041, give you a panic,
- 46:03totally, my cell by lost, eighty thousand, show and not.
- 46:06Until this is little until you purchase Twitter.
- 46:09Did I say Dean followers and in a fairly robust manner, is there
- 46:14any proof that you have any evidence of been and that being
- 46:16sorted by a plan or a strategy? A hunter's part, you know, he
- 46:21likes it. I have not read the Twitter
- 46:23father's that moved me to synthetic is so my arse any of
- 46:27the limited and that's why I would leave it be and Barry
- 46:30Weiss and hopefully others and which soil which is B by I see I
- 46:37see what, what, what is my best as if that there was a very
- 46:40different standard applied screw Republican in the u.s. trust the
- 46:45standards there appears at that Donna same as deadly as to pet
- 46:52and a double standard where where Democrats were not
- 46:56censored and and left causes were not censored.
- 46:59But right, right causes and and Republicans were and it was and
- 47:03I think this is the obvious to anyone.
- 47:06Uses Twitter was any extra test Mosaic Twitter files.
- 47:09It was it was not even at and it's frankly, the but the
- 47:13behavior that is be expected from an organization that is,
- 47:17that is based and for Cisco, Which is far left from, it
- 47:23wouldn't seem like that. They're being unfairly from
- 47:27what, simply how they see the world.
- 47:31I think met posted like, political contributions of
- 47:34Twitter being over 99% Democrats.
- 47:37Oh, well, what kind of what would you expect people to have
- 47:40that? It's a bad behavior.
- 47:41You would expect from a company that is basically a distillation
- 47:47of San Francisco politics. And I hope that I would claim
- 47:52doesn't only different by the way, I want to make a person and
- 47:56I want to make a suggestion real quick it on.
- 47:58When you are speaking, we can hear you, you.
- 48:00Well, when you are listening, the background noise from your
- 48:04jet is interfering again. Okay?
- 48:06So then can you just Bermuda yourself?
- 48:11So anyway, I have a question like that.
- 48:20Give it to me because as much as anybody else.
- 48:27So I'll give you the mic right after persistence.
- 48:36But one question, again, back to the advertisers Ilan.
- 48:38Not sure if you heard it before, any progress there with the
- 48:41advertisers that stopped advertising on Twitter, which we
- 48:43all agree is just not, right? And any other strategies to
- 48:47bring Revenue outside of mating. You to deal.
- 48:50Yeah. So I mean it's Apple has
- 48:52Believers in advertising, we're going to preach apple, is the
- 48:56single biggest Advertiser on Twitter and I start wait, at
- 49:00least thank God will for flurries early advertising.
- 49:03I think we're, we're all starting to see a lot of other
- 49:06advertising also resemble their spending.
- 49:09I think that the problem is that they would read all these
- 49:12stories in the media, and then think that there were true and
- 49:15they're not true. And then as this become your
- 49:18story quitter, Things like right-wing Health which actually
- 49:23isn't it, is there are far fewer, Bots, far fewer trolls.
- 49:27And it's it's actually I think way more fun and interesting.
- 49:31And we're seeing that in the, in the user minutes and in the
- 49:33daily average users, then advertisers are like, okay, I
- 49:36guess if it is safe to go back in the water.
- 49:39And so, we are, as we are seeing is this resume advertising on
- 49:43Twitter. So that's, that's a good sign.
- 49:45I wish it would be faster but creek.
- 49:47We are seeing them right here. The most, the most concerning
- 49:49Factor. They're on the advertising.
- 49:50Front is just the entire industry wide drop in
- 49:55advertisement, which Critter is not immune from.
- 49:57So even though advertised on the advertising and it shows in
- 50:02general are dropping for all companies and so it is
- 50:05imperative that Twitter and also at Revenue Source, the
- 50:09subscriber Revenue, which is just very important for the
- 50:13survival and poured off Twitter, and to reduce its dependence on
- 50:18on advertisers Earl. Yeah, okay.
- 50:23Overall like you know, I am cautiously optimistic.
- 50:26Future. Yeah, I'm gonna add one point of
- 50:30credit. Like I have no stats have
- 50:32nothing against the, the old, you know, Executives at Twitter
- 50:36Etc, but very objectively speaking what you've done in a
- 50:39month and again, that's purely being objective.
- 50:41What you've done in a month, it is fucking insane, the amount of
- 50:45progress that you've had and where Twitter is that now such a
- 50:48short period of time. So not that you need more credit
- 50:50because you're getting a lot here.
- 50:52But I just want to add to it as well.
- 50:53I'll give the mic to to the persistence has been waiting for
- 50:56a while and then Spike. Go ahead persistence.
- 51:00I'm from a saved the sultanate. My question is, do we have any
- 51:05information on advertisers threatening to pull money from
- 51:09Twitter? If Twitter did not adhere to a
- 51:12policy and additionally, do we have any information on Congress
- 51:17men or women who have threatened legislation should Twitter not
- 51:22adhere to a certain policy and lass I was really intrigued by
- 51:26your comment positivity and negativity.
- 51:28And tweets you saying that positive tweets would go further
- 51:32and I just wanted to see what would constitute the measurement
- 51:36from Twitter that would make something positive or negative
- 51:39thank you mutually. Sure.
- 51:42Well, the advertisers for the most part, the advertisers are
- 51:47quite rational in that day. You're advertising a product,
- 51:55you don't want to be like this, you're a tech.
- 52:01You don't want to have like super - sort of hate speech or
- 52:04you. See, the and, and also probably,
- 52:08or whatever, and also, they don't want to not safe for work,
- 52:12but brightness, your ad for children toys and stuff like
- 52:17that. That's quite well, we're
- 52:23advertising advertising, have rights or advertising, not
- 52:30advertised as consistent with their, it really just means like
- 52:37Is to monetize advertising for times, Iraq war wagons, but I
- 52:42think in general it's been okay. I mean I think there has been
- 52:46some overzealous action by groups that that pressure, the
- 52:50advertisers then in pressure Twitter and you know, we're
- 52:53trying to sort of that that I thought was was somewhat
- 52:57unreasonable but I'm trained in a direction going forward, but
- 53:02I'm not sure, but it's Looks like directions.
- 53:09Mike Hart, weather holds back at slope, will add.
- 53:14And and number of conversation for The Advertiser group, every
- 53:19time, the comet, it was have ever found it quite vividly and
- 53:24I've also just you pick up there like there weren't the event.
- 53:27They end up reading and it's like and then they end up with
- 53:33it was all the wrong impressions of what's gone.
- 53:36Well, I'm using Twitter, do you? You see these things for
- 53:39yourself and they like actually find when we use Twitter, like,
- 53:41yes, because it is fine after then.
- 53:43And then I said, else's home, like, work as we try to grow in
- 53:46as user base, user comes on Twitter, and then is immediately
- 53:50attacked by trolls. And, and the dumped on they're
- 53:53going to want to leave because he wants to go like going to a
- 53:57party or something. And everyone just starts yelling
- 53:59at you but you're going to want to leave that party.
- 54:02So you know that the Twitter Disney or more welcoming
- 54:05environment for your users. But Santa's are actually aligned
- 54:12will come on. And they see interesting funny
- 54:15tweets things that where they learn learn something new or,
- 54:20like, it's entertaining. Funny.
- 54:23That's the thing that we should Maura, and that will bet that's
- 54:26consistent with what most advertisers want.
- 54:29And what, what Twitter wants in order to grow because their
- 54:32bags, and they generally overtime is your PTO kill can be
- 54:38Be something you choose what sort of experience or like just
- 54:43like you can choose a radio station, like some people want
- 54:47to listen to. It's going to smooth jazz, easy
- 54:48close with me, want to go to, you know, pop music, or they
- 54:54want to go to heavy metal thrash that he's the road, or if
- 54:57they're good, you know, you want to like full-contact, martial
- 55:01arts or do you want to go? Like contact or do you want to
- 55:07do yoga? You know, you decide which one
- 55:09of those were kind of experience you want.
- 55:11That's going to be important in order to have Twitter appeal to
- 55:16a broad audience. That's that's that's per octave
