- Craig: You can absolutely win or lose your league in week one on the waiver wire. Either pick up the next fantasy darling or spend all of your fab dollars on somebody who doesn't even matter in another month. Welcome back to the kitchen here on Fat Daddy Sports. I am Craig, and today we are talking week two waiver wire pickups. There's a few of them out there that I think you need to go ahead and grab, whether you're spending your fab dollars or your waiver priority place. You need to grab these guys and stash them on your team. Some of them you might even be able to throw right in your lineup starting here in week two. And we will go ahead and start at the quarterback position. We will look no further than in Carolina at Bryce Young, the fourth year quarterback out of Alabama, a guy that ⁓ I wasn't super high on coming into this year. I still am not really sure how high I am, but man, he played at a a pretty elite level in week one in a shootout with the Bears, a ⁓ game that they had to score a bunch of points, and he was able to get it to his pass catchers. Jalen Coker and Teter Ola McMillan had huge games in week one thanks to Bryce Young. You can see here that in sleeper leagues, he is currently only 19% owned. That number is gonna skyrocket after week one. 32.44 points in this six-point passing touchdown league, 23 of 37, 361 yards, three touchdowns. He did have that one interception, but he also added two rushes and a touchdown on the ground. ⁓ a very solid week one against Chicago. He gets Atlanta in week two, Cleveland ⁓ in week three, and then Detroit, a game in which they will have to score a ton of points at home in order to keep up with that Lions team. I think these first four weeks are really, really big for Bryce Young. And right now, going at nineteen percent owned. I mean, if you weighted at quarterback, Bryce Young is a perfect guy to pick up right now. ⁓ maybe he was a flash in the pan here in week one. But I really think that he has a chance at being a ⁓ solid player throughout the year. Maybe not an every week starter, but a matchup dependent guy that you could throw in and he could absolutely light up the scoreboard. Next on our list is quarterback for the Miami Dolphins, Malik Willis. This is somebody that I have talked about quite a bit this offseason. I know a lot of fantasy experts have ⁓ really raved about Malik Willis. His rushing upside is just so good that It makes up for maybe the lack of the passing work that he's gonna get or that he's gonna score on. But you can see right here in week one, not the biggest game, only 17.7 points against Las Vegas. ⁓ but he had ⁓ 220 yards. He did have that interception, no touchdowns, ⁓ but he added 40 yards and six attempts on the ground. He had that rushing touchdown. That's going to probably be his floor every week is right around that 15 point mark. And when that is your floor, you add in two more passing touchdowns on top of what he did already, and he only had 15 completions and he still had almost 18 points. That is the definition of waiting at the quarterback position. If you waited and took a guy later in the draft like a Baker Mayfield, ⁓ and you can go out and get Malik Willis, who is currently only owned in 30% of leagues, that's a really, really strong duo that you could pair. together and really kind of run the table in fantasy football this year. Even a guy like Matthew Stafford, who had a pretty bad week in week one, a very bad week in week one, you pair him with a guy like Malik Willis. He has a super, super high floor ⁓ because of the rushing upside. I think Malik Willis is a fine pick week in and week out this year. The Dolphins are going to be terrible. They're going to be behind in every single game. Malik Willis is going to have to throw a bunch. I mean only 27 attempts in this game Think that they tried to kind of play it ⁓ kind of vanilla in week one against the Raiders, a game in which they probably felt it they could win. Now they get to go on the road across the country to go play the San Francisco 49ers and look out. That could be an absolute blowout. The Dolphins could be down big in the first quarter, and they're gonna have to throw the ball. They're gonna have to drop back to pass, and that may result in Malik Willis just taking off and running. And he has shown time and time again that he is a capable runner. He's a guy that definitely needs to be owned in every league. The next quarterback that we are talking about is in Minnesota. ⁓ this is one you gotta kind of keep an eye on. ⁓ right now, Kyler Murray is in the concussion protocol from week one. His backup, Carson Wentz, went in there and he played pretty solid. I mean, you can see he only ⁓ c attend attempted 19 passes, completed 12 of those passes, 19.22 points. He got the ball to his playmakers, to Justin Jefferson, to TJ Hawkinson. ⁓ he didn't he didn't turn the ball over. He took care of it. He managed the game. And that's what a veteran like Carson Wentz is there to do. He's going to have very good ⁓ value, very good consistency, I think, week in and week out. He may not go out and put up 35 points for you in a game, but if you're in a deeper league or maybe you just lost Kyler Murray, I think Carson Wentz is a very good. Backup plan to go to. ⁓ we'll see, like I said, monitor Kyler Murray news. He may be out again one more week. Hopefully, not longer than that. But if you need a short term replacement, Carson Wentz is a very, very viable ⁓ veteran quarterback that will distribute the ball to his playmakers very well. And you see here next week they're playing division rivals, Chicago Bears. Bears just put up 400 points. They're gonna have to put up points to stay with the Bears in that game in Chicago. Carson Wentz is gonna have to throw the ball around. He's gonna have to get it to Addison, to Juwan Jennings, to Jefferson, to Hawkinson. You name it. He's gonna have to get it to them. Carson Wentz could be a good, ⁓ a good streaming option next week on the road at the Bears, a defense that can definitely be exploited. We just talked about Bryce Young. And you saw what he did against them. And the last quarterback that we're talking about here in the week two waiver wire pickups is a guy that I was very high on this offseason. I said, wait at the quarterback position. This is a guy that you could go out and get. And that is Tyler Shuck. You see right here, he is only forty-two percent owned right now. that number's gonna skyrocket here after Wednesday, after this week of waivers processes. Tyler Shuck is gonna be owned in a lot more leagues. I bet it goes up to about 65% this week, and honestly, it should be a lot higher than that. ⁓ you see what he did here against Detroit. 56 attempts. 56. That is a ton of attempts, a ton of opportunities to get the ball to Chris Olave, to Devon Vale, to Juwan Johnson, to his running backs. I think we're gonna see that a lot this year ⁓ out of Tyler Shuck. You look at last year and his attempts, ⁓ I mean, even his very first game, thirty attempts against Tampa Bay, they're in a division where they're gonna be behind, they're gonna have to throw, they're gonna be in a lot of games, regardless of who their opponent is. They're gonna be behind, they're gonna have to throw a lot, ⁓ or they're gonna be in tight games where they have to throw and it's a shootout type of scenario. Look at this. I mean, thirty attempts, twenty four, twenty seven, forty three, thirty-eight. I mean, this is a guy that was just a backup and he comes in and throws forty three times. Down the stretch last year when it matters most. 32, 49, 27, 35. I mean, just the the amount of of attempts that he gets is the sheer volume that you need. And then you look at the the rushing attempts and the rushing volume that he gets. I mean, 22 yards, 55 yards, 32 yards. He's got some clunkers in there, but 34 yards. You go back to yesterday, only eight yards on four attempts, not the greatest, but he does have that ability to run the ball. Had two turnovers yesterday, which knocks him down a little bit. But this is a Kellen Moore offense that Tyler Shuck is going to be a very, very, very viable fantasy option the entire season. Tyler Shuck, if you waited at quarterback, if you got a guy like Patrick Mahomes, or maybe you really waited in a deeper league and you ended up with like a Daniel Jones or something, Tyler Shuck might be a guy that you may be able to go trade for if he's owned, if he's not owned. Pick him up right now and start him as your starting quarterback. Going over to the running back position, this is a guy that's gotten all the talk since their game last Thursday night. And that is Kalen Black in San Francisco. Don't get it twisted. He's not taking over for CMC. He's not, you know, he's not even going to be the one B. He is the running back too in San Francisco. There's a lot of talk about Christian McCaffrey having some cramps during that game, and that's maybe what led to Black getting more carries. But ⁓ nonetheless, 43% snap rate, 14 attempts, and he made the most of it. 65 yards on those 14 attempts. Didn't get into the end zone, but he did have ⁓ receiver or reception. This guy can can ball, he can play, he needs to be owned, especially if you're the CMC owner. ⁓ if anything happens to that guy, Kalen Black is going to be an instant league winner. You need to own this guy. He needs to be owned in 100% of leagues. You can see right now, only 35% rostered. All right. These next two running backs are on the same team. And it is Kendra Miller and Alvin Camaro. We will look at Kendra Miller first. Currently owned in 4% of leagues. I think that number has actually come up today in those leagues where they don't lock players. ⁓ because when I looked earlier, he was literally at 0%. and that and I get it. I mean, this is a guy that has had hype. He's been hurt. His former head coach hated him, but Kendra Miller is a good talent. He just hasn't really had the opportunity to be out there yesterday. 29% snap rate. That number was a little bit higher until the game got later going. ⁓ he was out carrying Travis H. Jr. for a while there, not involved in the pass game at all, but he did get nine attempts, 30 yards, and he did get into the end zone. He's gonna have a role going forward. I don't know if it'll be a ⁓ 30 snap rate, if that'll go up to like a 60 40 split with Travis Achan. But I do think that whoever the running back two is in this offense is going to be worked in, they're gonna be used. ⁓ and right now four percent owned. I mean, he's dirt cheap, he's not owned anywhere. You could go out and get him pretty much anywhere you wanted right now, and then we'll look over at the the other running back there in Alvin Camara who. Is injured right now, but should be coming back with his knee injury. he was a scratch kind of last minute in this one, but ⁓ currently owned in 41% of leagues. I get it. He's 31 years old. A lot of people have kind of given up on him. Last year wasn't necessarily the greatest. But I mean, if he gets the the third down work or if he gets, you know, the pass catching work, the goal line work, that's really gonna hurt Travis H.N. Jr. I mean, those are the things that Travis A. Chan does really well, and Alvin Kamara has done really well over his career. It's going to be interesting to see how they use both of those guys as Camara comes back. But I do think whoever the running back two is in this offense is going to have value. I think both of these guys need to be picked up. And then one more running back for you. ⁓ this one was a little strange going into this game. ⁓ Tyrone Tracy, the listed running back two in New York. Really kind of played second fiddle to Devin Singletary, a guy that's been there for a while. He was the RB one there for a while. ⁓ but he's listed as the RB four currently. Najee Harris, the RB three, was a healthy scratch last night. And that really wasn't a big surprise. I mean, he was signed late in training camp. We'll see when he gets going, what his role will be, if he will ever get going, if he'll ever have a role. But last night, nonetheless, Cam Scataboo. And then Devin Singletary for the New York Giants. You can see Singletary, 36% snap rate, had those six attempts. He had four receptions. He was used in the passing game, got a touchdown through the air, got him up to almost 14 points. I think Singletary is a guy in those deeper leagues that I mean, obviously you can see zero percent rostered right now. He is not owned anywhere, kind of kind of came onto the scene last night. ⁓ reminded a lot of people of his name. I kind of had forgotten that he was even with the Giants. ⁓ but I think in those deeper leagues, if you're in maybe a guillotine league, Devin Singletary could be a very good pickup. And then we'll swing over to the wide receiver position. This one we're gonna break the rules a little bit. Typically we only talk about guys that are owned in 50% or less of leagues. ⁓ but this one needs to be talked about. Debo Samuel ⁓ I kind of had written him off going into this year. Didn't think he was going to be used very much. And maybe that would be the case. Maybe that will be the case. Rookie wide receiver for the 49ers, DeJan Stribling, ⁓ went down with that injury in week one. He was kind of dominating with snaps for the 49ers wide receivers. He goes down and Debo gets very, very involved in this offense, kind of like prime Debo Samuel all over again. ⁓ we saw him. Get six catches, 48 yards, and a touchdown in that game, playing only 42% of the snaps. So that is something you gotta kind of be aware of with Debo. But ⁓ with his age, with his history with the 49ers, I don't know that he needs to play more than 40% of the snaps. Like they they get Debo, they know how to use him, they know when to use him. And when he's in there, he's gonna be electrifying, he's gonna get the ball. ⁓ he could be a very, very sneaky and valuable pickup this week. If he is ⁓ available in your league, as you can see here, he is available in quite a few leagues. And then the next guy, Romeo Dobbs, ⁓ a lot of maybe preseason hype for him, but with the AJ Brown injury there in New England, somebody's got to catch the ball. Dobbs obviously had some just brutal plays in that first game against the Seahawks. I think he bounces back. I mean, he had zero catches, three targets, ⁓ 56% snap rate. Think better days are ahead for Romeo Dobbs. He does look ridiculous with that guardian cap or six guardian caps that he wears. ⁓ but I think better days are ahead. If he's available in your league, 31% of leagues, go out and grab him. like I said, somebody's got to catch the ball, and AJ Brown is on IR for at least the next four weeks. So ⁓ go out and grab him, go out and grab his teammates in DiMario Douglas, Pop Douglas. ⁓ only owned in three percent of leagues right now, but you can see right here he had seven targets in week one, only turned that into five catches for 20 yards, but he was out there for 62% of the snaps. ⁓ he's gonna be utilized, he's gonna be used, as well as their other wide receiver teammate, Mac Hollins. This is just kind of throwing a dart at the wall, hoping it sticks, ⁓ throwing a bag of poop at the wall and hoping it sticks. Matt Collins, age 32, rostered in 0% of leagues. And you can see right here, he had 70% snap rate. I think a little bit of that went up when AJ Brown got hurt, but ⁓ five targets, four catches, fifty one yards. Like Matt Collins seemed to be the trusted wide receiver there. He seemed to be the guy that they kind of went to on third downs, other than the one with Romeo Dobbs that was wide open and he dropped. ⁓ but I think Matt Collins could be a very good pickup too, especially in those deeper leagues. He's not owned anywhere, so should be available in your league. And then you look at a guy like Hunter Henry, ⁓ 65% owned right now. I talked about him on the episode last week, picking him up before week one. But I think his usage and his volume is going to go up this year. We saw last year. I mean, he was he was a top 10 tight end last year. ⁓ and now they lost AJ Brown. And then over to Philadelphia, I think a guy like Don Tavian, we On Tabian Wicks will be used going forward for this Philadelphia Eagles offense. We saw in week one he played 91% of the snaps. That is a lot of snaps in an offense that should score some points. should have some red zone targets for him. Two targets or two receptions on four targets, 73 yards, and a touchdown for him in week one. He kind of outshined the rookie wide receiver in Mikai Lemon. Kind of outshot or outshined Devonta Smith even. And we'll see if that goes forward. I mean, I think Devonta Smith is obviously the wide receiver one. I think Mikhail Lemon should be the two, but really, I mean, Doctavian Wicks played really, really well and needs to be owned in those leagues. Only owned in sixteen percent of leagues right now. Another one that you got to really pay attention to is Baltimore wide receiver Zay Flowers had a hamstring issue in ⁓ I think the first half of of game one. They've come out. ⁓ in this week and have already said like it's not that serious. He's kind of day to day. If it was a playoff game, he'd still be out there. But nonetheless, he got banged up. ⁓ Jacoby Lane, the rookie wide receiver there, got banged up. Rashad Bateman is sitting there seven percent rostered right now. He's not a guy that I love. He's not really probably a guy that I will even go towards or go try to pick up, but he did play 78% of the snaps And that Baltimore offense looked very, very good, very dynamic, ⁓ like they could support multiple wide receivers. If Flowers or Lean misses any time, I think Bateman could slot in there as a very, very good wide receiver two option or a high-end flex play. ⁓ and only owned in seven percent of league. So you should be able to go out there and get him. And then talking about another offense that looked very, very electric, and that is the New Orleans Saints. I talked about ⁓ Tyler Shuck earlier in this episode, but Devon Vele, 23% rostered right now. He played on 91% of snaps as well, had nine targets, seven catches, 69 yards, and a touchdown. Wide receiver one, Chris Olave, visited the med tent three different times in this game, and he has a history of visiting that blue medical tent. You've got to keep an eye on that. This is an offense that should be very, very fun, should have a ton of targets with Tyler Shuck throwing it that much. Devon Vele could be a very, very big pickup ⁓ here in week one. I think a lot of people are very skeptical and I I get it. I am too, but man, you can't you can't beat 91% snaps, nine targets ⁓ on an offense that's going to be throwing it that much. So Devon Vale, I think would be towards the top of my waiver wire pickups for this week. Here's one that feels real nasty, and it is Khalif Raymond in Chicago. I can't even believe that I'm saying this. This is a guy that has history with Ben Johnson back at the time in Detroit together. this is a guy that plays 60% of the snaps. He had nine targets, 84 yards. ⁓ I don't know. You see right here, he leads pass catchers in week one win over the Panthers. I don't know how much of that was by design and how much of that was by necessity. Luther Burden had that fumble early in the game. Colson Loveland was a non-factor. The running game was really popping off. ⁓ O'Dunze was battling an injury. I don't know how much of this was actually going to go forward, but you see right here, 0% owned. If you're in those deeper leagues, you're in those guillotine leagues. I mean, he is worth a dart throw for sure. And our final wide receiver waiver wire pickups are the trio in. ⁓ Miami right now, Caleb Douglas, exciting rookie ⁓ wide receiver, 22% owned. He had seven targets, played 91% of the snaps, had 94 yards on those five receptions. Very, very exciting player, ⁓ an offense that I think is is going to start out slow, but they're gonna get better and better as the year goes on. I think one of these rookie wide receivers is is probably going to help you down the stretch win a fantasy championship this year. Do I think it'll be Douglas? Do I think it'll be Bell? I'm not sure, but I think they both need to be owned in every single league. You see right here, Chris Bell, not as good of a start. One catch on two targets, only 52% of the snaps. That one worries me a little bit. They said that he was fully healthy, didn't have, you know, any of the lingering effects, but he is still coming back from a knee injury. ⁓ so maybe they're easing him in a little bit, but Douglas definitely looked the part yesterday. ⁓ and then you go over to their wide receiver one, Malik Washington, in his third year out of Virginia. ⁓ three catches on eight targets, played ninety-eight percent of the snaps, only turned that into 53 yards, though. So not quite as exciting, not quite as dynamic, but ⁓ a guy that probably needs to be owned in more than 34% of leagues. And we'll flip over to the tight end position real quick. ⁓ Brock Bowers is supposed to be back this week. They're saying it's day to day, more than week to week. I'll believe it when I see it. They also said that they were fully expecting their entire team to be ready to go last week. And then on Thursday, he popped up with a random knee surgery and was going to be out that week. So I don't really believe anything that Kubiak is saying right now. I don't believe anything the Raiders are saying, but I do believe that they just gave Michael Mayer an extension. They want to use him regardless if Bowers is there or not. ⁓ they're gonna do a lot of 12 personnel, and Michael Mayer is right there, primed to be on your team. 37% owned, seven targets in week one, eighty per 81% snapped. ⁓ turn those seven targets into six catches for thirty-two yards. I think with Captain Kirk there at wide at quarterback, he's gonna dump off to the tight end position a lot. They don't really have dynamic wide receivers, so I'm not too concerned about that. I think the tight end position is the way to go there in Las Vegas. Go grab Michael Mayer if he's available in your league. And then, like ⁓ the other positions, I'm going to break the rules a little bit since it's week one. Juwan Johnson, 62% owned right now, but I still think that that number is way too low. This is a guy down the stretch last year with Tyler Shuck that was very, very good, very solid. ⁓ and you see already in week one, seven targets on 84% of the snaps, turn that into 14.4 fantasy points with a touchdown. They're looking for a solid wide receiver two or pass catcher two, pass catcher three. whether he's above or behind Vele, I don't know. It goes Chris Olave and then who? I don't know. Maybe it's Juwan Johnson. He needs to be owned everywhere. He needs to be owned in a hundred percent of leagues. He is definitely a top ⁓ top 12 tight end going forward this year. Get this number up. Then we go over to the rookie in New York, four percent owned is Kenyon Sadiq. He was able to get into the end zone on Sunday with a rushing attempt in which he was moving on. He was flying around the edge. Only three catches, only forty-two percent snap rate, but he's gonna take over for Mason Taylor. I have really no doubt his athletic ability is far superior. He's only 21 years old. He's a stud. Six three, two forty-one, out of Oregon. He's gonna take over at some point here. And If you're in those deeper leagues, go and pick him up, stash him on your bench. When I think of this guy, I think of his hilarious gritty celebration. ⁓ Mike Gasicki, 5% owned right now. He is the benefit of a very good offense. He is definitely not one of the top options they look for. But in a game where T. Higgins and Jamar Chase kind of both laid duds out there for you, Mike Gasicki comes through seven targets, five catches, 78 yards, and a touchdown. Turns that into 18.8 fantasy points. I think that that could be very true going forward. I mean, obviously he's behind those guys in the pecking order, but regardless, he should have a lot of red zone opportunities out there, ⁓ a lot of chances to score. And, you know, you're in those deeper leagues. Why not throw a dart at this guy? He's only owned in five percent of leagues. I won't spend a ton of time on this guy because I talked about him in my waiver wire pickup ⁓ video last week. Forty-three percent owned is TJ Hawkinson. I think his ⁓ numbers get a big boost with Carson Wentz in there at quarterback. I think Wentz likes to target the tight ends a lot. ⁓ Hawkinson was used a lot yesterday, only playing 66% of the snaps, but he did have five targets, four catches, thirty-six yards, and a touchdown. He's not going to give you those big numbers that maybe he once did back in his time in Detroit and then when he got traded to Minnesota. But I do think that, you know, 11, 10, 11, 12 points is his floor. Think this kind of was his floor. I I I would think that this yardage total will come up a little bit. And he's a good bet to score any given week. I mean, he is one of their better pass catchers. He's one of the top guys in the pecking order behind Justin Jefferson. Why not ⁓ TJ Hawkinson? He gets slept on a lot right now. This is another guy that I don't feel great recommending just because I feel so out on this entire offense. But he does have a good rapport with Aaron Rodgers. He does get used a lot. You see yesterday 73% of snaps, five targets, five receptions, 46 yards, and a touchdown. He's kind of that safety blanket when Rodgers can't throw the deep bomb down the field. He looks to pat Fryermouth. They designed some plays specifically for Fryermuth. He's a good red zone target for him. He could be a good pickup in in deeper leagues. I don't know how much value he'll carry week in and week out, but Could be a very good bye week fill-in, or maybe you lost a tight end to injury at some point here. And the final guy that we will talk about on this waiver wire episode is David Njoku in Los Angeles. We saw Ladd McConkey get banged up yesterday. Quentin Johnson really didn't do anything. This entire Chargers offense didn't really do anything. I think better days are ahead. Justin Herbert is a good quality quarterback who will find his tight ends. He'll find his pass catchers. Jim Harbaugh loves the tight ends. I think that. ⁓ whoever the tight end is will be a good value. He'll be a top fourteen tight end every week. If you're playing in those twelve team leagues, those fourteen team leagues, or if your tight end's on a buy and you need to fill in, I think David Njoku is a good pickup. He's not somebody that I am like running to the waiver wire or blowing any fab on at all. If I spend a couple dollars on him, great, and I get him. because The reality is they have three tight ends that they really like. This week it was Njoku. Next week it could be Kohler. The next week it could be Gadston. Who knows? ⁓ but I do think ⁓ pure pass catching abilities and reliability. I think David Njoku probably is the top of that list for the Chargers. I would feel comfortable picking him up in my 12 team leagues. ⁓ he's a guy that I will definitely be looking, checking the waiver wire out for this week to see if I can add him to my team. I think that you should check it out. And I think that you should let me know down in the comments who are the guys that you are targeting this week on the waiver wire. How much are you spending on them? What waiver priority are you using on them? Let me know down in the comments who some of your favorite waiver wire pickups are. And while you're there, drop a like, hit that subscribe button, and I will catch you guys on the next one. See ya.
