- 0:00[SPEAKER_01]: Hey friend, welcome back to the Bible Trek Echo's Radio Broadcast.
- 0:03[SPEAKER_01]: I'm Michael McCree, your host here.
- 0:06[SPEAKER_01]: We are on the penultimate episode.
- 0:09[SPEAKER_01]: We only have today in tomorrow to conclude this series in the book of songs.
- 0:15[SPEAKER_01]: I pray it's a blessing to you that it has been a blessing to you.
- 0:18[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to ask you to grab your Bibles.
- 0:20[SPEAKER_01]: Go to song one.
- 0:21[SPEAKER_01]: I'd like to read this passage for you.
- 0:23[SPEAKER_01]: Psalm 1, we're going to talk about going to ask this question of you, have I taken a step back spiritually speaking?
- 0:31[SPEAKER_01]: Look at Psalm 1 and verse 1.
- 0:34[SPEAKER_01]: Blessed is the man that walketh not in the council of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor siteth in the seat of the
- 0:53[SPEAKER_01]: And he shall be like a tree, planted by the rivers of water, that bring forth his fruit in his season.
- 1:00[SPEAKER_01]: His leaf also shall not wither, and whatsoever he do with shall prosper.
- 1:06[SPEAKER_01]: The ungodly are not so, but are like the chef which the wind driveeth away.
- 1:15[SPEAKER_01]: Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.
- 1:22[SPEAKER_01]: For the Lord, knoweth the way of the righteous, but the way of the ungodly shall perish.
- 1:31[SPEAKER_01]: Today on the broadcast and just a moment you're going to hear from a message I preached at my home church not that long ago and I pray it's a blessing to you.
- 1:40[SPEAKER_01]: I did a short three-part series on this particular Psalm and we're going to dive into this question.
- 1:47[SPEAKER_01]: Have you taken a step back?
- 1:51[SPEAKER_01]: Listen now.
- 1:52[SPEAKER_01]: Let's sharpen our minds.
- 1:53[SPEAKER_01]: Let's open our ears
- 2:00[SPEAKER_01]: Would we the Bible consider us ungodly?
- 2:02[SPEAKER_01]: Or would we be a righteous blessed man?
- 2:05[SPEAKER_01]: The ungodly are not.
- 2:07[SPEAKER_01]: So, the ungodly miss refreshments.
- 2:11[UNKNOWN]: See,
- 2:12[SPEAKER_01]: We're looking at everything and almost a negative context, but that's what the Angadli, that's the viewpoint that the Angadli have.
- 2:18[SPEAKER_01]: Everything that verse three talks about, the Angadli are not so.
- 2:23[SPEAKER_01]: First three again, and he shall be like a tree, planted by the rivers of water, that bring a fourth his fruit in his season, his leaf also shall not wither, and whatsoever he do with shall prosper.
- 2:39[SPEAKER_01]: No word.
- 2:41[SPEAKER_01]: No water, no strength.
- 2:43[SPEAKER_01]: Jeremiah 213 says, they have forsaken me the fountain of living waters.
- 2:51[SPEAKER_01]: We were there in Arizona and New Mexico, and we were talking to Jimmy.
- 2:56[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not, I feel like I'm going to be referencing Jimmy a lot, and going forward.
- 2:59[SPEAKER_01]: He gives you a lot.
- 3:00[SPEAKER_01]: There was a lot to Jimmy.
- 3:03[SPEAKER_01]: He was talking about how scarce water is, and you folks were there, awesome, and you were there, and you understand how it's so dry.
- 3:10[SPEAKER_01]: When a guy said they blew their nose, an hour after getting there, and it was a bloody nose, because it was so dry, just sapped everything out of him, so quickly.
- 3:18[SPEAKER_01]: But then you go to a place like water, flow, new Mexico.
- 3:23[SPEAKER_01]: I wonder why there's a bustling town right there by the river, because the water is important there in the desert.
- 3:32[SPEAKER_01]: How foolish would we be to cut off our access to the wonderful water of life and misrefreshment by being one of the ungodly?
- 3:43[SPEAKER_01]: The ungodly have no roots.
- 3:45[SPEAKER_01]: They misrefreshment.
- 3:46[SPEAKER_01]: They forfeit rest.
- 3:49[SPEAKER_01]: First for the ungodly are not so, but are like the chaff, which the wind driveeth away.
- 3:57[SPEAKER_01]: Do you know those time of people that seem to have,
- 4:02[SPEAKER_01]: Pin you know, the weak club, they saw something, they read something on Facebook and it's completely changed the paradigm of everything they've ever rethought up to this point.
- 4:12[SPEAKER_01]: And you're thinking, yeah, I just changed my mind yesterday because it's something I hope that's not you, Abraham Lincoln said, don't believe everything you read on the internet.
- 4:21[SPEAKER_01]: I remember him saying that, but, but in all sincerity, it's a restless thing when your
- 4:33[SPEAKER_01]: And you're pushed this way, and you're pushed this way.
- 4:37[SPEAKER_01]: And the last person you talk to has the most influence over you.
- 4:42[SPEAKER_01]: Now that might be okay if it's someone like a youth pastor, pastor, some of that cares for you, but you know as well as I, the ungodly, they go back to verse one, and they walk in the way of sinners.
- 4:56[SPEAKER_01]: They sit and see the score and fall.
- 5:03[SPEAKER_01]: without the right diet.
- 5:05[SPEAKER_01]: And we talked about this a couple of weeks ago, but to some degree, you are what you eat.
- 5:12[SPEAKER_01]: Think about, remember, flamingos, those weird-looking birds stand on the leg, stand on the spindly legs.
- 5:19[SPEAKER_01]: You know where they get their pink color from?
- 5:22[SPEAKER_01]: They get it from the diet.
- 5:23[SPEAKER_01]: For what I understand, I think it's some kind of shrimp or prawn or something like that that they eat at is nothing.
- 5:27[SPEAKER_01]: So I've got a biology expert.
- 5:29[SPEAKER_01]: She knows, she knows, I have seen some flamingos.
- 5:32[SPEAKER_01]: I was at a zoo and I saw some flamingos.
- 5:34[SPEAKER_01]: I thought, those are some flamingos.
- 5:37[SPEAKER_01]: They're gray.
- 5:39[SPEAKER_01]: And one of the, one of the zookeepers explained, well, we don't, it costs a lot of money to buy that.
- 5:45[SPEAKER_01]: Particularly, we don't feed them the shrimp.
- 5:48[SPEAKER_01]: So there's still full mingos, but I'll tell you what.
- 5:52[SPEAKER_01]: I've never seen the discovery channel, like, go go a flock of real mass number and show your gray flamingos.
- 5:58[SPEAKER_01]: Nobody wants to see gray flamingos.
- 6:00[SPEAKER_01]: But, you know where they get a color from?
- 6:02[SPEAKER_01]: The vibrant pink color, they get it from their diet.
- 6:05[SPEAKER_01]: What they eat.
- 6:08[SPEAKER_01]: come to church, and we can put on the outward, but come Monday morning when the stressors of life and work, our true color show.
- 6:21[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not talking about wolves and sheep's clothing.
- 6:23[SPEAKER_01]: I'm talking about a lot of flamingos or show I say Christians that have figured out to put the pink suit on, but when no one's looking, we chuck it real quick, because we
- 6:37[SPEAKER_01]: because we just want to flow with the breeze, like the chaff does.
- 6:41[SPEAKER_01]: But you know as well as I, that's a restless way to live.
- 6:45[SPEAKER_01]: The ungodly lack replication.
- 6:49[SPEAKER_01]: Chaff, I said already has no seed.
- 6:51[SPEAKER_01]: It cannot produce, it cannot grow, it cannot multiply.
- 6:54[SPEAKER_01]: Has no fruit, has no legacy.
- 6:58[SPEAKER_01]: John 156, if a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch.
- 7:06[SPEAKER_01]: and men gathered them and cast them into the fire.
- 7:10[SPEAKER_01]: Luke 713 somewhere around there, I'll probably have a couple of months to go on the keeper of the vineyard and the master came and said, cut down this fig tree.
- 7:22[SPEAKER_01]: Why?
- 7:24[SPEAKER_01]: He was bearing no fruit.
- 7:26[SPEAKER_01]: Not, was it beautiful?
- 7:27[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe.
- 7:29[SPEAKER_01]: But the fig tree wasn't in the orchard, wasn't in the vineyard to be beautiful.
- 7:37[SPEAKER_01]: I feel like for myself, I look at myself in the mirror sometimes, I think, hmm, Sunday best, Easter best, but is it all aesthetics?
- 7:46[SPEAKER_01]: Is it all, is it form or is it function?
- 7:50[SPEAKER_01]: Do we look the part?
- 7:52[SPEAKER_01]: I was, I enjoy reading about cars and things like that.
- 7:57[SPEAKER_01]: I was reading an article, I saw maybe I'd feel like kinship with, I think I think was land cruisers because I wrecked one in Papua New Guinea.
- 8:06[SPEAKER_01]: But I saw an article that land cruiser caught my attention.
- 8:09[SPEAKER_01]: And so I click on it, I believe it was land cruisers.
- 8:12[SPEAKER_01]: And there are a bunch of land cruisers, if I can say this way, I'm not to be denigrating, but fanboys.
- 8:17[SPEAKER_01]: A lot of people that really enjoy the land cruisers, or maybe it's a land rover, but they were very irritated.
- 8:25[SPEAKER_01]: because they put out a brand new one with like a dinky little four-cylinder engine in it.
- 8:33[SPEAKER_01]: And people buy those cars, they buy them for the badge.
- 8:38[SPEAKER_01]: They buy them for the aesthetics, but they buy them for what they can do.
- 8:43[SPEAKER_01]: Now, it's amusing the amount of people that are never going to drive them off of concrete.
- 8:47[SPEAKER_01]: They were very irritated by the fact that this thing only has 227 horsepower in it.
- 8:51[SPEAKER_01]: You go back 40 years, you get no cars, I have 222 horsepower in them, but you know what their problem was?
- 8:57[SPEAKER_01]: They're irritated because for them it was a step back in the functionality of this vehicle.
- 9:05[SPEAKER_01]: Why would we think God is all right with us taking a step back and being like chaff just to be blown around?
- 9:13[SPEAKER_01]: The ungodly are not so.
- 9:15[SPEAKER_01]: They lack replication.
- 9:18[SPEAKER_01]: Look at verse number five with me.
- 9:21[SPEAKER_01]: The ungodly, therefore, the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners, in the congregation of the righteous.
- 9:35[SPEAKER_01]: No stand, no defense, no ground to stand on, not in the congregate.
- 9:42[SPEAKER_01]: They're excluded from the family.
- 9:45[SPEAKER_01]: Matthew 723, depart for me.
- 9:49[SPEAKER_01]: I never knew you.
- 9:52[SPEAKER_01]: Are you like the blessed man or the barren chef?
- 9:56[SPEAKER_01]: The end godly.
- 9:58[SPEAKER_01]: They miss refreshment, they have no roots, they forfeit rest, they lack replication, they face rejection.
- 10:05[SPEAKER_01]: What a sad thing would be, so many of the young men that even at football camp, many of them from good homes, but the short time period that I got to coach, it was five or six years, something like that.
- 10:23[SPEAKER_01]: There were a decent number of young men,
- 10:27[SPEAKER_01]: that all they want in pasture used to this so many times, all they wanted was a man to validate them.
- 10:34[SPEAKER_01]: All they wanted was a little bit of approval from so and they looked up to.
- 10:39[SPEAKER_01]: And there are so many, and Isaac, we met some people like that even in recent days.
- 10:44[SPEAKER_01]: People you can tell, they have to speak in a certain way because they want you to approve of them.
- 10:52[SPEAKER_01]: They want you to love me, love me.
- 10:58[SPEAKER_01]: Now, can I tell you the love of your peers, the love, the applause, it's real empty.
- 11:08[SPEAKER_01]: It's real vain, vanity of vannities.
- 11:11[SPEAKER_01]: I think if they applauded like we do today, Solomon probably would have included it in some of his writing under the auspicious of the Holy Spirit.
- 11:20[SPEAKER_01]: It's all vain, all the atom boys, all of that.
- 11:26[SPEAKER_01]: I'll tell you what, when he says, well done, thou good and faithful servant, that has some staying power.
- 11:34[SPEAKER_01]: But the opposite of that is him saying, nope, nope, nope, nope, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, rejected.
- 11:39[SPEAKER_01]: You know, I've taken a step back in my Christian life many a time.
- 11:45[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not proud to say that.
- 11:47[SPEAKER_01]: Those aren't the highlights of my Christian experience.
- 11:51[SPEAKER_01]: When I've done less than I should have done, but we've all been there.
- 11:55[SPEAKER_01]: The question is, are we gonna turn that ship around?
- 12:00[SPEAKER_01]: Sometimes it feels like it's gonna take forever to dig ourselves out of the whole we've made.
- 12:05[SPEAKER_01]: Friend, I can't tell you how long suffering God is.
- 12:10[SPEAKER_01]: but he giveeth more grace.
- 12:15[SPEAKER_01]: We're sending it a bound grace to much more bound.
- 12:19[SPEAKER_01]: I'm so thankful for the fact that God proved commended his love toward us.
- 12:24[SPEAKER_01]: In that while we work yet, sinners God knew he was getting what he said to us.
- 12:30[SPEAKER_01]: What a blessed thing would be if we would serve him.
- 12:34[SPEAKER_01]: Go beyond what humanly we should be of the
- 12:40[SPEAKER_01]: be like that man in the first two or three his delight is in the law of the Lord.
- 12:47[SPEAKER_01]: I want to thank you so much for tuning in to Bible Trapped Echoes.
- 12:49[SPEAKER_01]: I'm Michael McCurrier, host tomorrow on the broadcast.
- 12:52[SPEAKER_01]: We are going to conclude this series in Psalms 1.
- 12:57[SPEAKER_01]: I pray it's been a blessing.
- 12:58[SPEAKER_01]: I pray it will continue to be a blessing.
- 13:00[SPEAKER_01]: I want to ask this question tomorrow on the broadcast.
