Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: It's hard to believe that we are wrapping up the
- 0:02Speaker 1: month of October. It is the last week for bras
- 0:04Speaker 1: on Big ninety eight point seven, and Andrea is here
- 0:07Speaker 1: from Essential Health Cancer Center.
- 0:09Speaker 2: Thank you so much for coming in today.
- 0:10Speaker 3: Thank you so much for having me.
- 0:11Speaker 1: I'm sure you're feeling, much like all of us, overwhelmed
- 0:15Speaker 1: by all the stories we've heard all month long. More importantly,
- 0:18Speaker 1: these are people that you've gotten to know, and the
- 0:20Speaker 1: words that they've said about you probably brings you to
- 0:23Speaker 1: tears because you've become second family to a lot of
- 0:25Speaker 1: these people. Can you tell everybody what you do over
- 0:27Speaker 1: at Asenia.
- 0:28Speaker 3: Yeah. I am the nurse navigator there specifically for breast
- 0:33Speaker 3: cancer and GI cancers. So I am with these women
- 0:38Speaker 3: and men from the time of diagnosis, through their survivorship,
- 0:42Speaker 3: through their whole.
- 0:43Speaker 2: Journey, which is so incredible.
- 0:44Speaker 1: And you're just an Earth angel because when you're going
- 0:47Speaker 1: through that, it's the unknown.
- 0:49Speaker 2: It's the second you find out.
- 0:50Speaker 1: You find these people at their lowest points and all
- 0:53Speaker 1: you want to do is wrap your arms around them
- 0:55Speaker 1: and help them as much as you can, but not
- 0:57Speaker 1: only them, but their entire family.
- 0:59Speaker 3: Yeah, it's not just the patient. It's literally their support
- 1:05Speaker 3: system as well their families and that kind of thing
- 1:07Speaker 3: because sometimes that family needs that extra support. Am I
- 1:11Speaker 3: doing what I need to do, what's best for the
- 1:14Speaker 3: patient and everything like that. So it is it's a big,
- 1:19Speaker 3: big thing.
- 1:19Speaker 2: It's a big.
- 1:20Speaker 3: Family, and we really get to know everybody, and.
- 1:22Speaker 1: I think it's important for people to know. And now
- 1:24Speaker 1: that we're kind of starting to wrap things up, it
- 1:26Speaker 1: is crunch time to bring your bras over of course
- 1:28Speaker 1: to Corwin get out and about. I know a lot
- 1:30Speaker 1: of people are getting ready to celebrate Halloween. Drink those
- 1:33Speaker 1: make ultros and those neutral vodka seltzers. Yes, we're doing
- 1:37Speaker 1: our part, but those dollars make a huge difference. Year
- 1:41Speaker 1: after year, we've been able to write a check thanks
- 1:43Speaker 1: to DS Beverages and core When Automotive Group for almost
- 1:46Speaker 1: forty thousand dollars, sometimes more than that, and those dollars
- 1:49Speaker 1: go right back to these patients at Asenja.
- 1:52Speaker 3: Yes, it's amazing and year after year we see it
- 1:55Speaker 3: and the community is so amazing here in Fargo. So
- 2:01Speaker 3: it just blows my mind every year when I see
- 2:04Speaker 3: how much it's been contributed and everything, and it does
- 2:07Speaker 3: it makes a huge impact on our patients.
- 2:09Speaker 1: And it seems like, Okay, yes, it's a gift card
- 2:12Speaker 1: for gas, or it's one of those comfort care items,
- 2:15Speaker 1: it's a wig. People don't realize how expensive all of
- 2:18Speaker 1: that is, especially a lot of these women we've been
- 2:20Speaker 1: talking to, they're out of town, they're coming in for
- 2:22Speaker 1: their treatment, so just taking a little bit of stress
- 2:25Speaker 1: off of them in that way. Maybe it's a hotel room.
- 2:28Speaker 1: Wigs are so expensive though.
- 2:29Speaker 3: They are They're so expensive. So yeah, from wigs to
- 2:34Speaker 3: gas cards, to grocery cupons to a hotel stay. You know,
- 2:38Speaker 3: you live out of town and you have to be
- 2:40Speaker 3: at the hospital by five six o'clock in the morning
- 2:43Speaker 3: for surgery or something like that. That's really hard to do.
- 2:46Speaker 3: So and then you have to try to think about
- 2:48Speaker 3: paying for a hotel or something too. That's crazy. So
- 2:52Speaker 3: we're here to help with that.
- 2:53Speaker 1: Well, we are so grateful, Andrea, thank you so much.
- 2:56Speaker 1: I know a lot of people we stress it a lot.
- 2:59Speaker 1: In October we talk about awareness, but I think it
- 3:01Speaker 1: is so important because you see these patients all the time,
- 3:04Speaker 1: how important it is to get check, get to know
- 3:06Speaker 1: your body and make sure you're not putting off your mammogram.
- 3:09Speaker 3: Yes, exactly. Early detection is key. It's so treatable if
- 3:14Speaker 3: we catch it so early, and mammograms catch those.
- 3:18Speaker 1: Thank you so much for all you do on behalf
- 3:20Speaker 1: of everybody. It's so fun to hear these stories of
- 3:22Speaker 1: people that just love and adore you and everything you
- 3:25Speaker 1: guys do at Essential Health.
- 3:26Speaker 3: Thank you so very much.
