- 0:01Speaker 1: Hey, I'm Marta Kristen, and you're listening to Movie Meltdown.
- 0:16Speaker 2: Movie Meltdown The following feature has been rated R by
- 0:30Speaker 2: the Motion Picture Association of America. It is intended for
- 0:33Speaker 2: mature audiences and parental discretion is advised.
- 0:46Speaker 3: It's showtime, folks.
- 0:49Speaker 4: Enjoy the show.
- 0:52Speaker 5: Our nuclear reactor, pumping out one million kilowatts of power.
- 1:25Speaker 5: What's up and welcome.
- 1:38Speaker 3: To Movie Meltdown.
- 1:39Speaker 6: I'm Brian.
- 1:40Speaker 7: I'm Misty.
- 1:41Speaker 3: And we're coming to you live via digital recording from
- 1:43Speaker 3: Wonderfest once again. How many years? See, that's what I
- 1:47Speaker 3: was going to say. Normally this part of the episode,
- 1:49Speaker 3: every year at Wonderfest, we play the How long have
- 1:52Speaker 3: we been coming here, game? So this year I'm just
- 1:54Speaker 3: going to skip it. I'm going to bypass all the
- 1:55Speaker 3: things that we always talk about. We've been coming here
- 1:58Speaker 3: 20 plus years, 22 maybe. And then the one time
- 2:03Speaker 3: when Misty's mom married George Romero. Something like that. Anyway,
- 2:06Speaker 3: if not, go back and listen to the old stories
- 2:08Speaker 3: because we've told that story 28 times.
- 2:10Speaker 7: I don't think Bill's heard it.
- 2:11Speaker 3: We've done this a million times, so we don't have
- 2:13Speaker 3: to go over this. But this will be interesting because
- 2:15Speaker 3: I don't know if we've ever had somebody who we've
- 2:18Speaker 3: been here every year. We talk about being here every year.
- 2:20Speaker 3: Bill hasn't been here before that I'm aware of. So
- 2:25Speaker 3: this episode, we're going to welcome in Bill. Say hello. Hello.
- 2:31Speaker 3: And not first time, because if you've been listening to
- 2:34Speaker 3: this a long time, the time we were at the drive-in,
- 2:37Speaker 3: we recorded an episode in the car.
- 2:38Speaker 6: I remember the car episode.
- 2:40Speaker 3: And you were there. We watched Texas Chainsaw Massacre, original recipe.
- 2:44Speaker 3: Thank you very much.
- 2:44Speaker 7: We watched Oculus.
- 2:45Speaker 3: We watched Oculus. I think that was the third movie,
- 2:49Speaker 3: wasn't it? Because in the middle was another that whatever
- 2:51Speaker 3: that Ang Lee Hulk guy. That guy that was in
- 2:55Speaker 3: the Hulk.
- 2:55Speaker 7: As Beneath So Below or something.
- 2:57Speaker 3: Something like that. It was one of those like animals
- 2:59Speaker 3: or something. I didn't. It was that movie and we went,
- 3:02Speaker 3: this looks weird. Let's just record now. So the middle movie,
- 3:05Speaker 3: if I'm remembering, we turned down the sound and did
- 3:08Speaker 3: an entire episode sitting in the car.
- 3:10Speaker 6: I think I did the Spaghetti Yeti too.
- 3:12Speaker 3: Yes, you were there for that as well. I was
- 3:14Speaker 3: not there for that. Now I remember. I bet I'm
- 3:16Speaker 3: surprised a lot of people stuck around. And I was
- 3:19Speaker 3: kind of thrilled with that, but I was just like,
- 3:21Speaker 3: I assumed everybody would be like, okay, dorks, I'm out
- 3:23Speaker 3: of here. And, like, there was a good amount of
- 3:25Speaker 3: people at that show. There was food.
- 3:27Speaker 6: Nobody turns down food.
- 3:27Speaker 3: Well, I mean, the food part, I understand. That was expensive.
- 3:30Speaker 7: Do you still have any of that food?
- 3:32Speaker 3: No, but I still got the debt that came with it.
- 3:34Speaker 3: That show was the most cool, maybe, and arguably the
- 3:37Speaker 3: one I went the furthest in the hole putting together.
- 3:41Speaker 8: Oh, yeah.
- 3:41Speaker 7: That's like the cheapest of meals.
- 3:42Speaker 3: But that one was in a real restaurant. And we
- 3:47Speaker 3: had the upstairs special private area. And I had to
- 3:50Speaker 3: rent equipment to show the movie, which I've never had
- 3:52Speaker 3: to do before. I had to rent different sound equipment
- 3:55Speaker 3: to go there. They had a specific place that you
- 3:58Speaker 3: had to go get the screen to show it on.
- 4:00Speaker 3: That is how they do it, I guess, when they
- 4:02Speaker 3: have fancy VIP business groups or some bullshit. I don't know.
- 4:07Speaker 3: But yeah, that one was a lot. So that's why
- 4:09Speaker 3: I'm not doing live events very much anymore. By very much,
- 4:12Speaker 3: I mean never. Until funding rolls in, which has not
- 4:16Speaker 3: happened yet. But either way, welcome back, Bill.
- 4:20Speaker 6: Well, thank you.
- 4:21Speaker 7: How's it going?
- 4:21Speaker 6: It's going.
- 4:23Speaker 3: It's been a while since I've seen you in the
- 4:25Speaker 3: real world anyway.
- 4:26Speaker 6: That's true.
- 4:26Speaker 3: You know, COVID and whatnot.
- 4:28Speaker 7: Has that happened? I forgot about that already.
- 4:30Speaker 6: I've actually mentioned that. I was like, I used to
- 4:32Speaker 6: run into you somewhere. All the time. All the time.
- 4:35Speaker 6: Hasn't happened in a.
- 4:36Speaker 3: Couple of years. Out of that group of dorks that
- 4:38Speaker 3: most of which don't exist anymore.
- 4:40Speaker 7: I just saw you at the bookstore like two weeks ago.
- 4:42Speaker 9: Oh, no.
- 4:42Speaker 6: I run into you. I just haven't seen him.
- 4:45Speaker 3: See, I think the last time we were all in
- 4:47Speaker 3: the same place was maybe the Vogue closing ceremony.
- 4:49Speaker 7: I ran into you at the same bookstore like before that.
- 4:52Speaker 3: That doesn't surprise me. See, individually we run into each
- 4:54Speaker 3: other all the time. But, yeah, I think the last
- 4:56Speaker 3: time the three of us were together maybe was there.
- 4:58Speaker 7: Whatever happened to the Vogue thing?
- 5:00Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 5:01Speaker 10: Nothing.
- 5:01Speaker 7: Nothing.
- 5:03Speaker 3: If you need shoes.
- 5:03Speaker 7: No, I mean like the documentary. Was it like a
- 5:05Speaker 7: documentary or something?
- 5:06Speaker 3: I think they're still doing it. I don't know. Again,
- 5:08Speaker 3: Dave was sort of connected to that, so I'll have
- 5:11Speaker 3: to ask him. I'm assuming he's wandering the halls somewhere
- 5:13Speaker 3: this weekend, so we'll have to check in with him.
- 5:15Speaker 3: But yeah, so this will be an interesting intro because
- 5:19Speaker 3: we never have a fresh opinion. You've been to a
- 5:23Speaker 3: lot of different things in your life, Bill, but you
- 5:24Speaker 3: haven't been here. So what do you think?
- 5:26Speaker 7: How was your first Wonderfest experience?
- 5:31Speaker 6: So far, so good.
- 5:33Speaker 7: I got to say, I didn't quite recognize you at first.
- 5:35Speaker 7: You didn't have the entire black ensemble going on.
- 5:38Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 5:38Speaker 3: You were like head to toe not black. It was
- 5:41Speaker 3: a little unnerving.
- 5:42Speaker 6: I was totally in costume today.
- 5:45Speaker 3: Not the true dork or anything. No, no.
- 5:48Speaker 6: Not at all. Since I specifically came here to do
- 5:50Speaker 6: a video with the land of the lost people and
- 5:53Speaker 6: spend a ton of money that I don't have.
- 5:55Speaker 3: Yeah, I've played this game.
- 5:57Speaker 6: And it was worth every penny.
- 5:58Speaker 3: Yeah. That's true. You were having the time of your
- 6:00Speaker 3: life over there.
- 6:01Speaker 7: I saw the video.
- 6:02Speaker 3: I'm glad we witnessed a good portion of it.
- 6:04Speaker 6: And I'm still not done.
- 6:06Speaker 7: What do you intend to do now? Is there more
- 6:09Speaker 7: crap to buy?
- 6:10Speaker 6: Oh, I am out of money.
- 6:13Speaker 11: Did you spend it all at the Land of the Lost?
- 6:15Speaker 6: Oh, I brought it for that.
- 6:17Speaker 3: I mean, we looped around that whole room and I
- 6:19Speaker 3: looked over to see, is he still over there getting
- 6:20Speaker 3: more stuff? I checked to see. I was like, he
- 6:22Speaker 3: might still be at their table.
- 6:23Speaker 6: There was a special model kit made. land of the
- 6:26Speaker 6: lost one for this and it was pretty expensive and
- 6:29Speaker 6: they were like have you seen that and i was
- 6:31Speaker 6: like oh yeah like don't show it to me and
- 6:32Speaker 6: i was like it's pretty expensive but i'd rather spend
- 6:35Speaker 6: it on this stuff and they hooked me up so
- 6:37Speaker 6: i could buy a model and i was like nice.
- 6:39Speaker 3: Too cool that's pretty awesome but otherwise yeah i think
- 6:45Speaker 3: you've you've just sort of edged your way into it
- 6:47Speaker 3: this last uh hour or so.
- 6:50Speaker 6: Right there's a lot of stuff that I actually did
- 6:54Speaker 6: come here once because Jeremiah was dressing up like a
- 6:58Speaker 6: robot because Bob Burns was supposed to be here, but
- 7:00Speaker 6: he was sick. So they streamed him on a screen,
- 7:03Speaker 6: and Jeremiah built this generic Robbie the Robot kind of outfit.
- 7:07Speaker 6: And I had to come help him put it on,
- 7:09Speaker 6: and they put the screen and did the whole question
- 7:12Speaker 6: and answer.
- 7:12Speaker 3: Was this After Hours or during the show? Because I
- 7:15Speaker 3: know he used to do the After Hours movies and stuff.
- 7:18Speaker 6: It may have been one of those because there was
- 7:19Speaker 6: a question and answer with.
- 7:22Speaker 6: Carolyn Monroe and doing Star Crash.
- 7:25Speaker 3: Oh, yeah.
- 7:25Speaker 6: So I don't know if it was part of that
- 7:27Speaker 6: or if it was like right before that.
- 7:28Speaker 3: She was very nice.
- 7:29Speaker 6: But yes, I got introduced to her and didn't realize
- 7:32Speaker 6: until I got home who it was.
- 7:33Speaker 3: She's a Bond girl.
- 7:35Speaker 6: Well, see, even for me, I'm a Hammer guy.
- 7:36Speaker 3: So I was like, oh my God, that's the taste
- 7:38Speaker 3: of blood of Dracula. I can believe it.
- 7:41Speaker 6: Sinbad.
- 7:41Speaker 3: She's in one of the Sinbad, yeah. She's awesome.
- 7:44Speaker 6: So I met her and was that idiot.
- 7:46Speaker 3: Like, oh, hey, nice to meet you. You're like, what's up? Oh, wait, shit,
- 7:49Speaker 3: you're a superstar. Never mind.
- 7:51Speaker 11: But.
- 7:52Speaker 6: But yeah, I didn't venture out. I just helped Jeremiah
- 7:54Speaker 6: and went home.
- 7:55Speaker 3: Yeah. So. He'll get you in that kind of trouble.
- 7:58Speaker 3: You got to watch it.
- 7:59Speaker 6: Well, the thing is, like, I should have known better
- 8:02Speaker 6: because I like dorky stuff. But when I heard that,
- 8:04Speaker 6: you know, it's just mostly models. I was like, I'm
- 8:06Speaker 6: not really a model guy. So it never thought it
- 8:09Speaker 6: was anything appealing.
- 8:11Speaker 3: That confuses a lot of people. Yeah. Because even when
- 8:13Speaker 3: they get here, it's like the the. Merch room isn't
- 8:17Speaker 3: the merch room at normal conventions or, you know, horror
- 8:20Speaker 3: conventions and stuff. It's usually like all different kinds of
- 8:22Speaker 3: dorky stuff, but pretty general and open to anybody that
- 8:26Speaker 3: wants to buy movies or t-shirts or that kind of crap.
- 8:29Speaker 3: This is like, here's a $ 300 model kit that is
- 8:32Speaker 3: from scratch. You've got to put together and paint it yourself.
- 8:34Speaker 3: Have fun with that. I'm just looking at him going,
- 8:36Speaker 3: that's too much work. It's too much money. I'm not
- 8:39Speaker 3: going to go down this road.
- 8:40Speaker 6: But there is a lot of other collectibles here.
- 8:42Speaker 3: There is really good stuff.
- 8:42Speaker 6: And it's a lot of pop culture and movie related stuff.
- 8:46Speaker 6: And I'm pretty excited. I haven't looked at everything yet.
- 8:49Speaker 3: There's a lot. There's a lot of stuff.
- 8:50Speaker 6: So I was surprised. And of course, there's a lot
- 8:52Speaker 6: more money I want to spend.
- 8:53Speaker 3: Of course.
- 8:55Speaker 6: You know.
- 8:55Speaker 3: Just hand them over.
- 8:56Speaker 6: Everything is outrageous these days.
- 8:59Speaker 3: Yeah. I can't afford nothing.
- 9:02Speaker 6: No doubt.
- 9:03Speaker 3: So, yep. You'll just have to give them all your plastic.
- 9:06Speaker 3: Be like, here. I'll be in debt for the rest
- 9:07Speaker 3: of my life. Which is pretty much everybody here. Yeah,
- 9:10Speaker 3: that's pretty much every day. That's me every day. But yeah,
- 9:13Speaker 3: I think everybody here gets themselves in that trouble.
- 9:15Speaker 7: Hey, I only spent $ 10. Thank you very much.
- 9:18Speaker 3: Amazing. Not out of here yet. They might tackle you later. Oh, yeah,
- 9:22Speaker 3: you're buying more stuff.
- 9:23Speaker 7: I found two bronze horror comics. I'm good to go.
- 9:26Speaker 3: That is true. You've got your old school comics. You're
- 9:29Speaker 3: all set.
- 9:30Speaker 7: I got my funnies.
- 9:34Speaker 3: All right, well. Do we want to, I mean, normally
- 9:38Speaker 3: at this point I'll roll into some sort of, what
- 9:41Speaker 3: have we been doing? What have we been watching? But
- 9:43Speaker 3: I don't know. I haven't seen anything and you never
- 9:46Speaker 3: watch anything anymore. I've got a few things, but I
- 9:52Speaker 3: didn't know how much you wanted to launch into land
- 9:56Speaker 3: of the lost talk because I mean, that was, the
- 10:00Speaker 3: thing i've i watched it and loved it as a
- 10:02Speaker 3: kid but i haven't done much with it since then
- 10:06Speaker 3: so like when i started getting in there i was
- 10:07Speaker 3: just like looking at the stuff going i know this
- 10:10Speaker 3: i know this hey look it's a dinosaur i love
- 10:12Speaker 3: a dinosaur We all sat on the dice, so let's
- 10:16Speaker 3: be real. But yeah, I was just like, then you
- 10:18Speaker 3: got to the details of Misty going, wait, what the
- 10:20Speaker 3: hell is that? And I'm like, I don't know. That's
- 10:23Speaker 3: diving in too far. And then Bill stepped up and
- 10:25Speaker 3: was like, well, let me tell you.
- 10:26Speaker 7: Because I have never in my life seen an episode
- 10:28Speaker 7: of Land of the Lost.
- 10:29Speaker 3: Which I still think is a little weird because it
- 10:31Speaker 3: sort of falls in. it definitely falls into your geek interests,
- 10:35Speaker 3: but even the timeframe, it was on for a long
- 10:37Speaker 3: time and a lot of reruns.
- 10:39Speaker 6: They got reran.
- 10:40Speaker 3: For years.
- 10:41Speaker 6: I mean, even in the nineties, I think it was
- 10:43Speaker 6: on Nickelodeon. It was a sci-fi channel. Like they reran
- 10:46Speaker 6: that show my whole life.
- 10:47Speaker 3: Yeah. It's, it was such a favorite and I still like, well, it,
- 10:52Speaker 3: you might want to check out some, of course, some
- 10:54Speaker 3: of the episodes are better than others.
- 10:56Speaker 6: The third season isn't as good as the first season.
- 10:58Speaker 6: I think that kind of stuff shows, you know, but, um,
- 11:01Speaker 6: you'll be surprised at how, kind of deep.
- 11:04Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 11:04Speaker 6: Because like, I don't know if you know, since you
- 11:06Speaker 6: haven't seen it, but Star Trek writers wrote those episodes.
- 11:09Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 11:09Speaker 6: So like, especially for a kid's show, had pretty heavy themes.
- 11:16Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 11:16Speaker 6: And like, they didn't dumb it down. They just let
- 11:18Speaker 6: you like, see and figure it out and you were
- 11:20Speaker 6: like whoa instead of just like hey dumb kid this
- 11:23Speaker 6: is funny or you.
- 11:25Speaker 3: Know i feel like they didn't do that as much
- 11:27Speaker 3: back in the day really like i feel like kids
- 11:29Speaker 3: properties in general then were but that one you know
- 11:32Speaker 3: bringing in real writers right put it ahead of us.
- 11:35Speaker 6: So i mean it has a bit of seriousness about
- 11:37Speaker 6: it that i guess as a kid you just felt
- 11:41Speaker 6: like you could kind of relate to and you know
- 11:45Speaker 6: yeah kind of open your mind to like Figuring things out,
- 11:48Speaker 6: I guess.
- 11:50Speaker 3: Out in the universe. I was mostly just obsessed with
- 11:54Speaker 3: and creeped out by Sleestack. So that was most of
- 11:56Speaker 3: my childhood.
- 11:58Speaker 6: Oh, I've got all the trivia. In case anybody doesn't know,
- 12:01Speaker 6: I have a Facebook page called Fans of the Lost.
- 12:05Speaker 3: What a nerd. What a nerd.
- 12:07Speaker 6: I'm all about it. But there was only three Sleestack outfits.
- 12:11Speaker 7: Hold on. Do you have any tattoos?
- 12:13Speaker 6: That hasn't happened yet, and it's only because I don't
- 12:16Speaker 6: really have that much tattoo space left.
- 12:20Speaker 3: If you're not looking at him right now, he's got
- 12:22Speaker 3: a lot.
- 12:23Speaker 6: It's hard to say. I mean, there are places I
- 12:27Speaker 6: could get it, but you would never see him.
- 12:28Speaker 3: There's a perfectly good forehead right there.
- 12:32Speaker 7: You could just easily transform that into a.
- 12:34Speaker 6: There you go.
- 12:34Speaker 7: Just put a fleece-like mask on one of your girls.
- 12:37Speaker 3: Forehead space, I'm just saying. I hope to see.
- 12:40Speaker 6: It could happen.
- 12:41Speaker 7: No.
- 12:43Speaker 3: You could post Malone this shit. Come on.
- 12:44Speaker 7: You have some neck space.
- 12:46Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 12:47Speaker 7: Sleece tag on your neck.
- 12:48Speaker 6: Wait, just paint my whole face like one.
- 12:50Speaker 3: I mean, you've seen guys that do that kind of stuff. Yeah.
- 12:52Speaker 3: I don't know if I recommend it, but hey, you're
- 12:54Speaker 3: free to do whatever you want.
- 12:55Speaker 6: I'll even alter my speech, so I just kiss.
- 12:57Speaker 3: That's me in public. Pretty much, yeah.
- 13:02Speaker 7: That was me going through the model room earlier.
- 13:04Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 13:05Speaker 3: She bailed midway because there were people.
- 13:06Speaker 7: There were so many of them.
- 13:08Speaker 3: So many people. It has gotten super popular. Which is awesome.
- 13:11Speaker 3: I mean, yeah, it is great. Cause every year I
- 13:13Speaker 3: know anytime we talk to, you know, any of Dave
- 13:16Speaker 3: and Bo and all of them, they're always like, everything's
- 13:18Speaker 3: booked up, you know, next year they're already booked up
- 13:21Speaker 3: on the, on the tables and stuff. But like the
- 13:23Speaker 3: crowds have continued to get bigger and bigger. And I
- 13:25Speaker 3: think from that comeback on coming back from pandemic stuff,
- 13:30Speaker 3: it's just like, everybody's just like doubling down now. They're like,
- 13:34Speaker 3: I'm going to, buy more models. I'm going to enter
- 13:36Speaker 3: more models in the contest. Like, I think everybody's just
- 13:38Speaker 3: super hyped about it now because they went for a
- 13:40Speaker 3: year and didn't have anything and went for two years
- 13:42Speaker 3: and couldn't go anywhere.
- 13:43Speaker 6: I'm glad that it's happening now the way that it's
- 13:45Speaker 6: happening because there's not, you know, everything's kind of back
- 13:49Speaker 6: to normal. Like, people will give you hugs and let
- 13:50Speaker 6: you put your arms around, arm around them.
- 13:52Speaker 3: Oh, not me. Don't touch me. Don't touch me.
- 13:54Speaker 6: Oh, you're not wearing a mask. I'm just talking about, like,
- 13:57Speaker 6: I got to, you get to interact with people as
- 13:59Speaker 6: to where, like this, my interaction with the stars would
- 14:02Speaker 6: have been lame if it was like, covid time yeah
- 14:05Speaker 6: you know meeting them with masks standing six feet away
- 14:08Speaker 6: from them wouldn't quite be the same experience as having.
- 14:11Speaker 3: A good time a little bit of crossover when they
- 14:12Speaker 3: first started that and it's always kind of weird at
- 14:15Speaker 3: that point it's like at this point let's just call
- 14:17Speaker 3: it like why bother i.
- 14:19Speaker 7: Interrupted your story earlier i'm.
- 14:21Speaker 6: Sorry oh that story oh i was just saying like
- 14:23Speaker 6: the sleaze stacks which of course was probably one of
- 14:26Speaker 6: the things that made that show so popular because all
- 14:28Speaker 6: the kids were either scared or in awe.
- 14:30Speaker 3: Both for me which were you oh i was like.
- 14:33Speaker 6: Awesome They were so cool. It's so weird because people
- 14:40Speaker 6: are like, it's such a generic outfit, but to me,
- 14:42Speaker 6: it's still one of the coolest monsters that I remember
- 14:44Speaker 6: from when I was a kid. Even still, I like
- 14:46Speaker 6: the design.
- 14:46Speaker 7: I have no idea. Is that its name or is.
- 14:51Speaker 10: That its species?
- 14:53Speaker 6: It's the species.
- 14:54Speaker 3: At some point, it just became Sleazebag.
- 14:57Speaker 7: Do they have individual names?
- 14:58Speaker 3: No. Except that we have from the future.
- 15:01Speaker 6: There's a guy named Enoch. It was a future version
- 15:03Speaker 6: of them. And he's a little bit different and he
- 15:05Speaker 6: could talk.
- 15:06Speaker 3: I was obsessed with him too. I was just like,
- 15:08Speaker 3: because he brought such a weird element to it and,
- 15:11Speaker 3: and was like, he brought the serious of his ancestors.
- 15:14Speaker 3: You know, he was just.
- 15:15Speaker 6: Like, he was basically exactly a Spock character, but he
- 15:19Speaker 6: was like a higher intelligence and always had like words
- 15:22Speaker 6: of wisdom, which made.
- 15:23Speaker 3: It even cooler. I thought that guy was cool.
- 15:25Speaker 6: But, um, what I was gonna say about the slea
- 15:27Speaker 6: stacks is there's supposed to be like this cave full
- 15:29Speaker 6: of them. And, uh, Because of the cost of everything,
- 15:32Speaker 6: they only had three costumes. And they were so tall
- 15:36Speaker 6: that they could only get NBA players to wear them. So, like,
- 15:39Speaker 6: all these famous or became famous NBA players played the
- 15:43Speaker 6: Slea Stacks. And every time you saw it, they would, like,
- 15:45Speaker 6: be popping out of cave holes. And it seemed like
- 15:48Speaker 6: you were just surrounded. But you only ever saw three
- 15:51Speaker 6: on screen at a time. Because, like, two would come
- 15:53Speaker 6: from over here. One would come over here. But there
- 15:54Speaker 6: was only ever three of you.
- 15:56Speaker 3: That's a good trick, though. No, it worked. That is
- 15:58Speaker 3: an amazing trick. It worked out great.
- 15:59Speaker 7: Was Wilt Chamberlain ever a sleazebag?
- 16:01Speaker 2: No.
- 16:02Speaker 3: He was busy hooking up. He didn't have time for that.
- 16:04Speaker 7: That is one of the only old-timey basketball players.
- 16:08Speaker 6: I don't know much about sports ball.
- 16:09Speaker 3: I don't, but I'll be the first to know.
- 16:11Speaker 6: But Bill Lambeer, who is apparently a very famous coach
- 16:14Speaker 6: and also.
- 16:15Speaker 3: Larry Bird.
- 16:17Speaker 7: I know three things about basketball. Larry Bird's one of them.
- 16:20Speaker 3: This is a sports talk. Thanks for tuning in.
- 16:22Speaker 12: Yeah.
- 16:23Speaker 11: Larry Bird, Bobby Knight.
- 16:23Speaker 7: You're talking to the wrong guy about sports.
- 16:24Speaker 3: We're the wrong group of people. It was Bobby Knight.
- 16:29Speaker 3: In a sleaze tank.
- 16:29Speaker 6: It was Denny Crow.
- 16:31Speaker 3: Rest in peace.
- 16:34Speaker 13: Yeah.
- 16:35Speaker 3: Well, yeah. That's, I mean, you have to give him
- 16:37Speaker 3: credit though. That's amazing planning. Like, that's what I always
- 16:40Speaker 3: say about any like older movies that like were super
- 16:43Speaker 3: low budget. It's like, if you can find a way
- 16:46Speaker 3: to make it work like it kind of makes it
- 16:48Speaker 3: more impressive oh i agree because you know now you
- 16:50Speaker 3: can cg whatever the hell you want and it looks
- 16:52Speaker 3: like it but like then you just had to be
- 16:55Speaker 3: creative and so that lack of money you look at
- 16:57Speaker 3: all those directors like their most impressive stuff most of
- 16:59Speaker 3: the time is like when they had nothing and they're
- 17:01Speaker 3: just scrapping be like all right how do we make
- 17:03Speaker 3: those work and it's like that brings out the creativity
- 17:06Speaker 3: in so many of these people.
- 17:08Speaker 6: Well it's funny i mean it was lower budget than
- 17:09Speaker 6: a movie but a lot of people see it now
- 17:12Speaker 6: and try to compared to today's center.
- 17:14Speaker 3: Like it's so cheesy. Well, for one thing, look at
- 17:17Speaker 3: any other show for kids. So, I mean, come on,
- 17:20Speaker 3: that gets a slower budget.
- 17:22Speaker 6: Usually it wasn't low budget for television. Like apparently at
- 17:25Speaker 6: the time it was like the process that they used
- 17:28Speaker 6: to like superimpose them on the screens, like before what's
- 17:31Speaker 6: a green screen now was like this cutting edge technology
- 17:34Speaker 6: that that was one of the only TV shows doing that.
- 17:37Speaker 6: And so it was like new technology. And then like
- 17:40Speaker 6: some of the same people that did the Harry House
- 17:42Speaker 6: and stuff did the dinosaurs. So it's like, it was
- 17:45Speaker 6: like big time stuff. It wasn't just like, oh, here,
- 17:49Speaker 6: you know, this dumb version of this stuff. They had
- 17:52Speaker 6: real people on board, you know?
- 17:53Speaker 3: Yeah. People that actually knew what they were doing.
- 17:56Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 17:57Speaker 3: So, yeah. Again, that's the other thing that suckered me in. Dinosaurs. Like,
- 18:01Speaker 3: who doesn't like dinosaurs? No.
- 18:03Speaker 6: Like, it had everything like a kid, especially at that time. Dinosaurs,
- 18:06Speaker 6: lizard people.
- 18:07Speaker 7: I like dinosaurs.
- 18:08Speaker 11: You know.
- 18:09Speaker 6: I think that is part of the– Kind of a
- 18:11Speaker 6: space kind of element.
- 18:12Speaker 3: Yeah. It was definitely futuristic-y by the time you brought
- 18:15Speaker 3: the other dude in and the just weird technology that
- 18:17Speaker 3: would pop up sometimes literally.
- 18:19Speaker 6: Like the time traveling and the loopholes and all that.
- 18:23Speaker 6: I mean there's a lot to it. And that's what's
- 18:24Speaker 6: impressive about it. People just kind of cloudily remember it.
- 18:27Speaker 6: But if you watch it, you're like, wow, there's a
- 18:29Speaker 6: lot to this as far as the stories go.
- 18:31Speaker 3: A lot of impressive stuff.
- 18:32Speaker 6: And I think for me when I was a kid,
- 18:33Speaker 6: like Holly was close to our age. She was a
- 18:35Speaker 6: little bit older.
- 18:35Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 18:36Speaker 6: And then Will was older. He was like a teenager.
- 18:39Speaker 3: He was older and playing a little younger.
- 18:40Speaker 6: Playing a little younger. But, I mean, the family dynamic
- 18:43Speaker 6: is really good if you watch the episodes. Like, it's believable.
- 18:47Speaker 6: It doesn't seem hokey. Yeah. And, like, the way they
- 18:50Speaker 6: kind of bicker, and he looks out for her, but
- 18:53Speaker 6: same thing.
- 18:53Speaker 3: But still is annoyed with her because it's his sister. Right,
- 18:55Speaker 3: it's his sister.
- 18:56Speaker 6: They play all that stuff perfect. And, like, the dad
- 18:58Speaker 6: has always got the wisdom, and he's always looking out
- 19:00Speaker 6: for him. Like, that appealed to me when I was
- 19:01Speaker 6: a kid, too.
- 19:02Speaker 3: Brady Bunch fighting dinosaurs. Basically. Basically.
- 19:04Speaker 6: And another interesting thing, because I'm a nerd, the first
- 19:08Speaker 6: year that that show came out, which was, like, in 74,
- 19:11Speaker 6: so I was only, like, 15.
- 19:16Speaker 3: I just go all around.
- 19:16Speaker 6: I was only 25.
- 19:17Speaker 3: I just, yeah, I just, I'm like, look, I'm, like, 80.
- 19:19Speaker 3: Leave me alone.
- 19:21Speaker 6: But apparently it was, like, the highest rated show on
- 19:23Speaker 6: television across the board, not just, like, Saturday morning.
- 19:26Speaker 11: So, like, adults were watching it, too.
- 19:29Speaker 3: Did it premiere at Saturday morning time?
- 19:31Speaker 6: Yeah, it was a Saturday morning time thing, but it
- 19:33Speaker 6: was so... Liked that it was popular.
- 19:36Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 19:37Speaker 6: Other than just with kids.
- 19:39Speaker 3: That's impressive.
- 19:41Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 19:42Speaker 6: So Namaste needs to watch an episode. Oh, come tomorrow.
- 19:45Speaker 6: They're playing an episode.
- 19:46Speaker 7: I have to work tomorrow.
- 19:47Speaker 6: And doing a question and answer.
- 19:49Speaker 3: Here. Jobs are lame. I'm psyched about.
- 19:51Speaker 6: I took the weekend off.
- 19:52Speaker 3: For once.
- 19:53Speaker 6: Because all I do is work.
- 19:55Speaker 3: So for now, we'll take our break and we'll come
- 19:57Speaker 3: back with this week's guest. Very special guest.
- 20:02Speaker 7: Other than Bill.
- 20:03Speaker 3: Obviously Bill.
- 20:04Speaker 6: Does it get more special than me?
- 20:06Speaker 7: Special.
- 20:07Speaker 6: Holly told me I was special.
- 20:09Speaker 3: Wow. We all feel you're special, Bill.
- 20:12Speaker 6: And I informed her that I was special aid.
- 20:14Speaker 10: I'm so glad that you're still with us.
- 20:19Speaker 12: Broken, but damn, you're still perfect. How are we going
- 20:40Speaker 12: to tell people that they need to join the Meltdown
- 20:50Speaker 12: Horror Club?
- 20:53Speaker 11: I think you just did.
- 20:54Speaker 10: Damn it.
- 21:07Speaker 3: We recording this is a good plan well did they
- 21:10Speaker 3: know that if they join the club they can get
- 21:13Speaker 3: exclusive episodes well that's so cool who wouldn't want to
- 21:17Speaker 3: join the horror club that's the only way you can
- 21:20Speaker 3: hear all these cool horror movie episodes is if you
- 21:23Speaker 3: join the meltdown.
- 21:23Speaker 14: Horror club for as little as two dollars.
- 21:26Speaker 3: Two dollars two dollars american dollars you know i mean
- 21:32Speaker 3: if you go online they can transfer that stuff and
- 21:35Speaker 3: yeah switch it out and i don't know wherever it
- 21:37Speaker 3: comes from as long as eventually it gets to american
- 21:39Speaker 3: dollars i'm good with wherever you can send us foreign
- 21:43Speaker 3: monies from the other end just as long as when
- 21:46Speaker 3: it gets here two dollars fair enough plus you can
- 21:50Speaker 3: help us pick out the movies we're gonna watch we're
- 21:54Speaker 3: trying to decide every week we're like what the hell
- 21:56Speaker 3: are we gonna watch now We wouldn't have to do
- 21:58Speaker 3: that if you joined the club and then you can
- 22:01Speaker 3: just give us a movie to watch because that's how
- 22:03Speaker 3: we get this list of movies that we're going through.
- 22:06Speaker 3: That's one of the perks of joining the club. You
- 22:08Speaker 3: get to give us a movie and then we put
- 22:10Speaker 3: it on the list and later we talk about it
- 22:13Speaker 3: and you can inflict horrible movies on us or when
- 22:16Speaker 3: we're talking about movies that you're like, why? Why are
- 22:18Speaker 3: they talking about that movie? You probably have a much
- 22:21Speaker 3: better movie in mind that we should be talking about
- 22:24Speaker 3: and you could give us that one. Get on it.
- 22:27Speaker 8: $ 2 to, like, waste two hours of our lives.
- 22:31Speaker 3: I mean, that's a good deal.
- 22:33Speaker 7: And it's only 6.45 cents per day.
- 22:37Speaker 3: See, I figured that out. I was trying. I'm fighting
- 22:40Speaker 3: really hard to not put together some sort of, like,
- 22:43Speaker 3: starving children's tone of, like, you know. That's why. I'm
- 22:48Speaker 3: trying not to do that every week. But I'm like,
- 22:50Speaker 3: it always, anytime I have to pitch it, I start
- 22:53Speaker 3: feeling like, for only pennies a day, you. Yeah. could
- 22:56Speaker 3: keep these poor idiots from watching a dumb movie. You
- 22:59Speaker 3: could make them watch something good. Or vice versa.
- 23:03Speaker 14: Or make us watch something really terrible. We're fine either way.
- 23:06Speaker 14: We just need to know what to watch, but we
- 23:08Speaker 14: need your help to make that happen.
- 23:10Speaker 3: And especially, we're trying to get a whole community going.
- 23:14Speaker 3: We've got our fan page. Nobody cares about that. So then,
- 23:18Speaker 3: we set up the discussion group. And now, we've got
- 23:21Speaker 3: a decent amount of people on there, but I still
- 23:23Speaker 3: feel like The discussions aren't flowing as much as they
- 23:27Speaker 3: should be. So once you join the club, go over.
- 23:31Speaker 3: It's on Facebook. I can't help it. They won't make
- 23:33Speaker 3: anything better to replace it. But then you can join
- 23:36Speaker 3: the discussion group on Facebook and we can talk about
- 23:39Speaker 3: these ridiculous movies we're watching. Do it. Do it today.
- 23:46Speaker 3: Or tomorrow.
- 23:46Speaker 14: But in the relatively near future.
- 23:49Speaker 3: That's our tagline? Yes. I don't think we've got to
- 23:53Speaker 3: fight Nike over that one.
- 23:55Speaker 4: I hope not.
- 23:56Speaker 3: Do it today. Just do it sometime. I don't know, man.
- 24:01Speaker 14: Look, whenever you get around to it, we understand. Get
- 24:04Speaker 14: your shit together and do it.
- 24:06Speaker 12: Nike.
- 24:08Speaker 3: Somewhere that was a pitch meeting, probably. Do you really
- 24:11Speaker 3: think we should curse? Yes, goddammit, George, curse! So anyway,
- 24:17Speaker 3: go to moviemeltdown.com, support the show, become a Meltketeer.
- 24:26Speaker 12: Hit the weekend.
- 24:36Speaker 2: At fun As my days.
- 24:39Speaker 3: And my nights Join the club Marshall, Will.
- 24:41Speaker 15: And Holly On a routine expedition Met the greatest earthquake
- 24:48Speaker 15: ever known High on the rapids It's just a tiny
- 24:56Speaker 15: raft that plunges down, down a thousand feet below.
- 25:04Speaker 3: It was the.
- 25:04Speaker 2: Land of.
- 25:09Speaker 3: The lost. It was the land of the lost. When
- 25:16Speaker 3: I look all.
- 25:18Speaker 16: Around, I can't believe the things I found.
- 25:22Speaker 14: And now I've got to find my way.
- 25:24Speaker 3: I'm lost, I'm lost.
- 25:27Speaker 7: Find me living in the land of the lost.
- 25:32Speaker 13: Lost, lost, lost, lost, lost, lost.
- 25:34Speaker 14: I'm living in the land of the lost.
- 25:41Speaker 3: So with all this land of the lost discussion, how
- 25:44Speaker 3: about if we go talk to the man himself, Wesley Yor,
- 25:48Speaker 3: who is, of course... Will Marshall from Land of the Lost. Plus,
- 25:52Speaker 3: he was in several movies that I definitely want to
- 25:55Speaker 3: talk to him about. And then, just maybe, if you're lucky,
- 25:59Speaker 3: we'll get a special appearance from Holly. That's right, Kathy Coleman. Maybe.
- 26:04Speaker 3: But for now, let's go talk to Wesley. So early on,
- 26:11Speaker 3: were you interested in entertainment to begin with? Or was
- 26:16Speaker 3: it specific things? Because as you went on, you got into,
- 26:19Speaker 3: you know, theater and you went into TV and music.
- 26:22Speaker 3: And so, like, initially, what were you drawn to?
- 26:25Speaker 11: When I was five years old in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, I
- 26:28Speaker 11: stood up on a table and said, I'm going to
- 26:30Speaker 11: be an actor. And they all looked at me like
- 26:32Speaker 11: I had come from another planet. They were all educators.
- 26:35Speaker 3: Mississippi. Hello.
- 26:37Speaker 11: You know, my dad left when I was two.
- 26:39Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 26:40Speaker 11: And never came back. So I think I probably... Because
- 26:43Speaker 11: I think we go into careers where we need something.
- 26:45Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 26:46Speaker 11: And I think I needed attention.
- 26:48Speaker 3: I think entertainment in general kind of pulls in very
- 26:50Speaker 3: specific types of people.
- 26:52Speaker 7: Exactly.
- 26:52Speaker 3: Like you see them gravitate towards comedy to fill a
- 26:56Speaker 3: hole or, you know, drama to fill a hole.
- 26:58Speaker 11: When I played the oak tree in the, I think
- 27:01Speaker 11: the sixth grade, I was hooked. I just knew. I
- 27:05Speaker 11: knew that I needed to, okay, pardon this, branch out.
- 27:09Speaker 3: This is an episode of puns. Well, that's the root.
- 27:12Speaker 11: Never mind.
- 27:14Speaker 3: We're never going to stop.
- 27:15Speaker 11: No, no, no, no, no. I'll leave it alone.
- 27:18Speaker 3: Anyway, so. But yeah, so I mean, as you got
- 27:22Speaker 3: into it, was there, I guess theatrical is usually the
- 27:25Speaker 3: easiest way as a kid for like school plays and stuff. Yeah.
- 27:28Speaker 11: And then I always wanted to be, do it. And
- 27:30Speaker 11: I started competing in high school and won a lot
- 27:33Speaker 11: of major awards and I won the Best Actor of
- 27:35Speaker 11: the Year Award in the United States with Northwestern University.
- 27:39Speaker 11: And then I went to New York. And my first
- 27:42Speaker 11: job was the American Shakespeare Festival at Stratford. I understudied
- 27:46Speaker 11: Ariel and the Tempest. And this was the most major
- 27:50Speaker 11: theater company in the United States at the time. And
- 27:55Speaker 11: I was understudying Ariel.
- 27:57Speaker 3: But, I mean, I'm from Mississippi.
- 27:59Speaker 11: I didn't know about Shakespeare, but I had to audition.
- 28:02Speaker 11: And they said, you have to do two pieces. So
- 28:04Speaker 11: I went to the library and I learned two sonnets.
- 28:09Speaker 11: And I performed. It was all the Juilliard School of Music,
- 28:12Speaker 11: which is one of the best in the world. So
- 28:14Speaker 11: the head of Juilliard was producing it that year. They
- 28:17Speaker 11: were all Juilliard people. They hired me. And I finally
- 28:20Speaker 11: said to the guy, I said, why did you hire me?
- 28:23Speaker 11: He goes, Wesley, you were terrible in the Shakespeare. He said,
- 28:27Speaker 11: you blew it, but you were so funny. We said,
- 28:30Speaker 11: we have to spend the summer with that guy.
- 28:32Speaker 3: There you go.
- 28:33Speaker 11: But I got on stage at rehearsal at the Manhattan Club.
- 28:35Speaker 11: We rehearsed for a month in New York, and then we,
- 28:37Speaker 11: eight months in Stratford, Connecticut. So I went, all hail,
- 28:41Speaker 11: grave master, graves to hail, I come to answer thy
- 28:43Speaker 11: beck and call, be it to fly, to swim, to
- 28:45Speaker 11: dive into the fire. And they go, Wesley, not on
- 28:48Speaker 11: our stage. I go, what's wrong? They go, your accent.
- 28:51Speaker 11: I go, what accent? So they got this, Liz Smith
- 28:55Speaker 11: was this linguist from Juilliard, and every day for nine
- 28:59Speaker 11: months- I had classes.
- 29:00Speaker 3: Nine months.
- 29:01Speaker 11: Nine months.
- 29:02Speaker 3: That's harsh.
- 29:02Speaker 11: And everybody was terrified of her. She was this big
- 29:04Speaker 11: bull of a woman. And she would go, instead of
- 29:08Speaker 11: going running and jumping, I had to go running, jumping, ghost.
- 29:14Speaker 3: Emphasis.
- 29:15Speaker 11: Yeah. Because I did not know there were consonants in
- 29:18Speaker 11: the English language.
- 29:20Speaker 3: Well, you know, it's Mississippi. I live in Kentucky. What
- 29:22Speaker 3: do I know?
- 29:24Speaker 11: She terrified everybody. But she got drunk the last night.
- 29:27Speaker 11: When we closed down at Stratford, and she came up
- 29:29Speaker 11: to me and said, Wesley, darling, you said the most
- 29:31Speaker 11: regrettable experience I've had this entire summer here at Stratford
- 29:36Speaker 11: has been to make you lose that wonderful accent. So
- 29:39Speaker 11: I got rid of it. of my southern accent.
- 29:41Speaker 3: Well, I don't know. I think if you do an
- 29:44Speaker 3: entire cast of Shakespeare full on southern accent, that's got
- 29:49Speaker 3: an appeal, right?
- 29:50Speaker 11: What happened is that actually the southern accent is the
- 29:52Speaker 11: exact accent when Shakespeare wrote the plays. People were talking
- 29:57Speaker 11: like this. And we know that because the immigrants that
- 30:00Speaker 11: came to the United States lived in the Appalachians, were
- 30:03Speaker 11: direct descendants from the English of that period, and they
- 30:06Speaker 11: were so isolated that it's the dialect is the same
- 30:10Speaker 11: as it was in Old England.
- 30:11Speaker 6: Interesting.
- 30:12Speaker 3: See, look, we're learning things.
- 30:14Speaker 1: I know.
- 30:14Speaker 11: So the British sort of upper, you know, everything, oh, pa-pa-pa-pa-pa.
- 30:18Speaker 11: That's an affection, an affectation that happened after Shakespeare.
- 30:23Speaker 3: When the cool people left and came to the Appalachian
- 30:25Speaker 3: and they just got crusty and you know boring in
- 30:28Speaker 3: england you know exactly exactly so i guess um as
- 30:33Speaker 3: far as crossing over into like well i would say
- 30:35Speaker 3: eventually film but you you got to tv and then
- 30:38Speaker 3: you end up in two different projects kind of simultaneously
- 30:41Speaker 3: so how did they both.
- 30:43Speaker 11: Come together at the same time well they were both
- 30:45Speaker 11: nbc shows so days of our lives and i got
- 30:47Speaker 11: that first are.
- 30:48Speaker 3: They a little more forgiving because of that yes yeah.
- 30:51Speaker 11: Because they had to agree that Days of Our Lives,
- 30:53Speaker 11: for the three years I did Land of the Lost,
- 30:55Speaker 11: they let me do all my scenes in the morning first.
- 30:58Speaker 11: So the cast hated me. I was like, because I'd
- 31:00Speaker 11: go in, shoot my scenes, and leave. And then I'd
- 31:02Speaker 11: go over to Days of Our Lives, to Land of
- 31:04Speaker 11: the Lost, which is across the valley into Hollywood, Los Angeles,
- 31:08Speaker 11: from Burbank.
- 31:09Speaker 3: That's a fun day. So it was interesting.
- 31:11Speaker 11: So in the morning, I'm crying that my girlfriend is
- 31:13Speaker 11: leaving me and... The mafia is after me, and I'm
- 31:15Speaker 11: having sexual problems. And in the afternoon, I'm going, run, Holly, run.
- 31:19Speaker 3: There's a dinosaur.
- 31:20Speaker 11: So it was the best job.
- 31:23Speaker 3: Did you get mixed up and start talking about dinosaurs
- 31:25Speaker 3: in the middle of your mafia?
- 31:27Speaker 11: Well, I started talking about Dinah Shore.
- 31:29Speaker 3: Then you're fine, actually, given the time period.
- 31:32Speaker 11: Do you remember Dinah Shore?
- 31:33Speaker 3: I do, actually.
- 31:33Speaker 11: I actually did her show twice. I sang on her show, yeah.
- 31:36Speaker 3: See, that's big time right there.
- 31:38Speaker 11: Oh, yeah, big time.
- 31:38Speaker 3: Dinah Shore. You don't get Dinah Shores anymore.
- 31:42Speaker 13: No.
- 31:44Speaker 3: Well, then, I mean, I guess you couldn't have been
- 31:46Speaker 3: prepared for the cultural impact of Land of the Lost. Well,
- 31:50Speaker 3: who knew? Yeah, I mean, did you even, how seriously
- 31:53Speaker 3: did you even take it at the time? Because, yeah,
- 31:56Speaker 3: it seems.
- 31:57Speaker 11: Land of the Lost was written by the Star Trek writers.
- 31:59Speaker 3: Oh, yeah.
- 32:00Speaker 11: David Gerrold was our head writer. He wrote Trouble with Tribbles,
- 32:02Speaker 11: created Tribbles. Walter Koenig, Chekhov, the original Chekhov, created Enoch,
- 32:06Speaker 11: the Talking Sleeve Sack, who was named after Gene Roddenberry.
- 32:09Speaker 11: Gene backwards. It was going to be Enig, but then
- 32:12Speaker 11: they changed it. It says two dead-ons, the Enig. Because
- 32:15Speaker 11: Gene Roddenberry was asked to be the head writer at first.
- 32:18Speaker 11: So Mike Westmore did all the monsters who did Star Trek.
- 32:22Speaker 11: And Kathy and I do the Star Trek convention in
- 32:24Speaker 11: Vegas at the Rio every year. We're the only show
- 32:26Speaker 11: they allow in other than Star Trek.
- 32:29Speaker 6: But who knew?
- 32:29Speaker 3: I mean, who knew?
- 32:30Speaker 11: But it was because the scripts are so good. Shakespeare said,
- 32:33Speaker 11: the story's the thing. The effects are 70s. There's no CGI.
- 32:37Speaker 11: So they're what they are.
- 32:38Speaker 3: Which, again, for old school fans, that's kind of better.
- 32:41Speaker 3: I like it. I love practical. Oh, my God.
- 32:43Speaker 11: The blue screen instead of green screen. It's the first
- 32:47Speaker 11: time in history they melded the dinosaurs.
- 32:49Speaker 3: We're in film.
- 32:50Speaker 11: We were in videotape. And they pushed them together all
- 32:53Speaker 11: at once. It didn't work the first. The first episode
- 32:56Speaker 11: didn't work. They called the Disney people in. All the
- 32:59Speaker 11: engineers started working on this. And by the second episode,
- 33:01Speaker 11: they were able to meld film onto the dinosaurs.
- 33:06Speaker 3: Video one yeah that's amazing well again it was kind
- 33:10Speaker 3: of pushing the envelope because people hadn't tried to do
- 33:13Speaker 3: you know other than films years ago but yeah nobody
- 33:17Speaker 3: especially on tv yeah yeah.
- 33:18Speaker 11: Totally state of the art and then.
- 33:21Speaker 3: As far as like i was talking about this earlier
- 33:23Speaker 3: with bill like the the sleaze stack like i think
- 33:26Speaker 3: so many kids it was just like fascinated and traumatized
- 33:29Speaker 3: so i mean like when you saw those characters the
- 33:32Speaker 3: first time Again, what sort of response was it? Just like,
- 33:36Speaker 3: is this going to work? Or was it like.
- 33:37Speaker 11: The third episode of the Sleaze Stack came in, the
- 33:40Speaker 11: ratings went through the roof. It became NBC's number one show.
- 33:43Speaker 11: Not Saturday morning, but number one show. And so Marty
- 33:47Speaker 11: Croft was telling me about that. But, you know, and
- 33:50Speaker 11: it's become part of the pop culture. It's referenced people,
- 33:54Speaker 11: tall people are called Sleaze Stack. Bill Lambert of the
- 33:57Speaker 11: Detroit Pistons, the bad boy of basketball, was a Sleaze
- 34:00Speaker 11: Stack when he was in college ball. And we, Kathy
- 34:03Speaker 11: and I, we, we, he was coaching the aces, the
- 34:07Speaker 11: women's basketball team in Las Vegas. And we surprised him
- 34:10Speaker 11: one day and showed up and he was like, and
- 34:15Speaker 11: we did all the photos. Well, cause he was a
- 34:18Speaker 11: bad book. You want, if you're a basketball fan, you
- 34:19Speaker 11: know how, how nasty Bill would be. And when, when,
- 34:23Speaker 11: when he, we finally left, he said, I got to
- 34:24Speaker 11: go back to coaching. And the head of the, the,
- 34:27Speaker 11: the league came up to us and said, you know,
- 34:29Speaker 11: I've known Bill since he was a college basketball player.
- 34:31Speaker 11: And I have never seen him smile so much.
- 34:36Speaker 3: There you go. That's the effect of Land of the Lost. Well, then,
- 34:40Speaker 3: that kind of poses an interesting situation for you as
- 34:42Speaker 3: you're coming out of that. Because you were already sort of, like,
- 34:45Speaker 3: playing a younger character. And so, like, it's still a very,
- 34:49Speaker 3: as lovable as the show is, it's a little cleaner than,
- 34:52Speaker 3: you know, most things that you're going to get if
- 34:53Speaker 3: you're moving into film. Yeah. you end up going straight
- 34:56Speaker 3: into horror. Which one did you actually shoot first? Because
- 34:59Speaker 3: they both kind of released that year.
- 35:01Speaker 11: You mean Chomps?
- 35:02Speaker 3: Well, no, I was getting to that later. But like
- 35:05Speaker 3: Jennifer and Toolbox Murders.
- 35:06Speaker 11: I did Toolbox.
- 35:08Speaker 3: No, I.
- 35:08Speaker 11: Think I did Toolbox Murders first.
- 35:10Speaker 3: Okay.
- 35:11Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 35:11Speaker 3: That's a definitely much darker tone for you.
- 35:15Speaker 11: Stephen King once said, if you have to rent 10
- 35:18Speaker 11: movies for Halloween... Toolbox Murders is one of them.
- 35:21Speaker 3: Definitely.
- 35:21Speaker 11: I mean, it began the slasher genre at the end
- 35:25Speaker 11: of the 70s. And I got to play a very
- 35:29Speaker 11: evil character. And it was with Pamela Furtin, you know.
- 35:34Speaker 11: It was quite amazing.
- 35:36Speaker 3: Did you question it at the time? Because you're coming
- 35:38Speaker 3: from a pretty wholesome project.
- 35:39Speaker 11: No, I love it.
- 35:40Speaker 3: Because it's so dark by the time you get to
- 35:42Speaker 3: the end.
- 35:42Speaker 12: It was so dark.
- 35:43Speaker 11: And I had to beg Days of Our Lives to
- 35:44Speaker 11: let me do it.
- 35:45Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 35:46Speaker 11: And it took me about two weeks to get out
- 35:48Speaker 11: of the character. I've never played that vicious and horrible
- 35:51Speaker 11: of a person, and I kind of got into it.
- 35:55Speaker 11: I tapped into the vicious, horrible part of me, and
- 35:57Speaker 11: it took me about two weeks to snap out of it.
- 36:00Speaker 3: It's a harsh movie, and a weird layout, more or less,
- 36:04Speaker 3: because it starts like one thing, and then you even
- 36:06Speaker 3: think you know where it's going, and then.
- 36:08Speaker 11: That's what's the great part about it.
- 36:09Speaker 3: Spoilers, if you haven't seen it, go watch it now.
- 36:10Speaker 11: Yeah, Cameron Mitchell is in it, and it's... Yeah.
- 36:12Speaker 3: You think you know, more or less, what's going on,
- 36:14Speaker 3: but you can't figure out with your character, and then
- 36:16Speaker 3: it takes a hard turn, so.
- 36:18Speaker 11: Yes, and if you've watched the film, you'll remember, Joey, Joey,
- 36:23Speaker 11: burning bright, lit the night with firelight.
- 36:26Speaker 3: I hope you don't have matches here. That's all I
- 36:28Speaker 3: have to say. If you're selling signed matches, there's a
- 36:30Speaker 3: problem going on. Well, and then, I guess that same year,
- 36:36Speaker 3: more or less, by release anyway, Jennifer came out, and that...
- 36:40Speaker 3: You get the and credit. Was that like something negotiated?
- 36:44Speaker 11: No, they begged me to come do the show. They said,
- 36:46Speaker 11: we'll write a part for you. There wasn't a part.
- 36:48Speaker 3: That explains it. Because I watched it and I was like,
- 36:50Speaker 3: how come you're not in this more? Because I expected
- 36:51Speaker 3: more of you.
- 36:52Speaker 11: With Bert Convy and all these people, I get eaten
- 36:54Speaker 11: by snakes. It's like, it's Carrie with snakes.
- 36:57Speaker 3: That's what I was going to ask. I was like,
- 36:59Speaker 3: it's cars. So were you actually driving any of that
- 37:01Speaker 3: car stuff? Oh, yeah, yeah. Because I figured, yeah, they
- 37:04Speaker 3: can't afford a ton of stuff.
- 37:05Speaker 11: Exactly. And it ended with this. We were in a
- 37:07Speaker 11: soundstage with a Mercedes convertible. And they had a real
- 37:11Speaker 11: boa constrictor. It was a bad girl that conjures snakes
- 37:15Speaker 11: to kill everybody in high school.
- 37:16Speaker 3: Yeah, like most kids want to do.
- 37:19Speaker 11: This snake was so big, they could wrap this boa
- 37:22Speaker 11: around the Mercedes twice. They told us, stand at the doors,
- 37:26Speaker 11: because if the snake gets mad, boas can scoot very
- 37:32Speaker 11: fast across the ground. I did not know that.
- 37:34Speaker 3: You don't mess with snakes of any sort.
- 37:37Speaker 11: I had one scene where I had snakes wrapped around
- 37:39Speaker 11: my head. And I'm screaming and stuff. And right before
- 37:43Speaker 11: I filmed that scene, they had a snake wrangler with
- 37:47Speaker 11: a big aquarium with different colored snakes. And they were
- 37:49Speaker 11: not poisonous. So the director said, I want that red,
- 37:51Speaker 11: you know, whatever color you want it.
- 37:53Speaker 3: Visuals. We're just going for good visuals.
- 37:55Speaker 11: So I'm about to go film. And he says, well, here,
- 37:57Speaker 11: hold this snake. It was a gopher snake. Well, I'm
- 37:59Speaker 11: petting it like it's a puppy. Like petting a snake.
- 38:03Speaker 11: You know, snakes don't like.
- 38:03Speaker 3: To be petted. Depends on how you get along with
- 38:05Speaker 3: a snake.
- 38:06Speaker 11: And this was a guy. His hands were all gnarled
- 38:08Speaker 11: from being bitten by snakes over the years.
- 38:10Speaker 3: That's for sure.
- 38:11Speaker 11: So I'm petting the snake, and suddenly the snake rears
- 38:15Speaker 11: up and strikes at my face. And this guy reaches
- 38:19Speaker 11: his hand in, puts it over my face, and the
- 38:20Speaker 11: snake bites his hand. And then they say, Wesley, on
- 38:25Speaker 11: set time. I'm terrified. They are wrapping snakes around me.
- 38:30Speaker 11: I have to pretend like they're eating, killing me. That
- 38:32Speaker 11: wasn't hard to do. So I'm holding all these live
- 38:34Speaker 11: snakes all over me and I'm screaming, ah, like this stuff.
- 38:38Speaker 11: I scared, I scared the snake so bad they pooped
- 38:41Speaker 11: all over me. The smell, you cannot imagine how bad
- 38:44Speaker 11: it was. They said cut. I ran. I found a shower.
- 38:47Speaker 11: I jumped in. I'm washing the smell off and the
- 38:50Speaker 11: director goes, oh my God, Wesley, that was so fabulous.
- 38:52Speaker 11: We want to do it again. I go, no way.
- 38:55Speaker 3: Thank you. Well, I mean, yeah, you don't, it seems
- 39:00Speaker 3: like that would be an issue for the studio. Like,
- 39:02Speaker 3: wouldn't they put your safety in? If for no other
- 39:05Speaker 3: reason than they have to finish the film, I guess
- 39:06Speaker 3: because you didn't have a major role. You wouldn't have
- 39:08Speaker 3: done that.
- 39:08Speaker 11: With your lead girl.
- 39:09Speaker 3: Jennifer wouldn't have been doing that.
- 39:11Speaker 11: No, we're just actors. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 39:14Speaker 3: We'll just roll him out of the way.
- 39:16Speaker 11: Yeah, yeah, yeah. Well, where's William Catt? We'll put William
- 39:19Speaker 11: Catt in.
- 39:19Speaker 3: Just bring him in.
- 39:19Speaker 11: David Castiel, yeah, have David come in. He's in the
- 39:21Speaker 11: next studio. Just go get him.
- 39:23Speaker 3: Exactly. Well, yeah, I was not prepared for the end
- 39:27Speaker 3: of that either. But then, yeah, you mentioned the other one.
- 39:30Speaker 3: That was the one that once I saw you were coming,
- 39:32Speaker 3: I was like, as much as I love land of
- 39:34Speaker 3: the lost, when I was a kid, I don't understand. No,
- 39:37Speaker 3: I do. There's a list of everything that the movie
- 39:41Speaker 3: chumps start a guy named Brian, which is my name. Nobody.
- 39:45Speaker 3: I didn't know any movies that had a Brian in it.
- 39:47Speaker 3: Who names their kid? Brian. So it's like, it's Brian.
- 39:50Speaker 3: He's into dogs. I love dogs. He loves robots. He's
- 39:54Speaker 3: making robots. Who doesn't like robots in sci-fi?
- 39:57Speaker 11: And who doesn't like Valerie Bertinelli?
- 40:00Speaker 3: That's what I was going to say. At the tender
- 40:02Speaker 3: age that I was, the one thing I knew was
- 40:04Speaker 3: Valerie Bertinelli.
- 40:05Speaker 11: Hot, hot, hot Valerie Bertinelli.
- 40:07Speaker 3: So, yeah, I was suckered in. Conrad D.
- 40:09Speaker 11: Jim Backus.
- 40:11Speaker 3: And watching it now, I'm just like, this cast is amazing.
- 40:14Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 40:15Speaker 3: I was like, how do you get all of these
- 40:17Speaker 3: people in this crazy movie about a robot dog?
- 40:19Speaker 11: It was Hanna-Barbera's first movie.
- 40:20Speaker 3: That was strange, too.
- 40:22Speaker 11: Which was Canine Home Protection Systems. I invent a mechanical
- 40:25Speaker 11: watchdog that's a watchdog. It looks just like my real dog.
- 40:29Speaker 3: Conveniently.
- 40:30Speaker 11: Conveniently.
- 40:31Speaker 3: Or not. As the end movie goes.
- 40:33Speaker 11: And I got to give Valerie her first big screen kiss.
- 40:35Speaker 11: I beat Eddie Van Halen. Thank you very much.
- 40:37Speaker 3: No, thank you. We don't need him. All right. He's
- 40:41Speaker 3: pretty good at guitar. But you had robot dogs. That's
- 40:43Speaker 3: way cooler.
- 40:44Speaker 6: Thank you.
- 40:46Speaker 3: But, yeah, so, I mean, that's one of those, like,
- 40:48Speaker 3: it's such a weird layout, and you're dealing with a
- 40:51Speaker 3: really established director at that point.
- 40:53Speaker 11: Oh, my God, yeah. So, how serious was he taking it?
- 40:55Speaker 11: The guy who did Pete's Dragon.
- 40:56Speaker 3: Yeah, it's like he, well, I mean, he did some of, like,
- 40:58Speaker 3: going back to that list, it's like some of these
- 41:00Speaker 3: classic films, and I'm just like, and he's doing this
- 41:03Speaker 3: robot dog movie. Like, how seriously was he taking it
- 41:06Speaker 3: at that point?
- 41:07Speaker 11: Oh, I was taking it serious.
- 41:08Speaker 3: Definitely.
- 41:09Speaker 11: I was so happy to have it.
- 41:10Speaker 3: Yeah. But, yeah, and watching it now, it's such a weird,
- 41:14Speaker 3: structure because so much of it is dogs running in slow-mo.
- 41:18Speaker 3: I did not remember as a child.
- 41:20Speaker 11: If you watch the movie, they decided after we filmed
- 41:23Speaker 11: the movie, instead of a G rating, they wanted a GP.
- 41:25Speaker 11: So what they did was the dog's voiceover, the dog's talk,
- 41:30Speaker 11: they added a little cursing.
- 41:31Speaker 3: There's that one dog. Your dog doesn't even talk. It's
- 41:34Speaker 3: the random dog next door talks.
- 41:35Speaker 11: And he says some curse words so they could get
- 41:37Speaker 11: a GP rating. They thought it would give them a
- 41:39Speaker 11: bigger audience at the time.
- 41:41Speaker 3: Oh. But yeah, I mean, I guess going into that
- 41:43Speaker 3: with the Hanna-Barbera thing, how did they approach you as like,
- 41:48Speaker 3: this is a Hanna-Barbera project, but not really?
- 41:51Speaker 11: Yeah, it was their first movie, their first live action movie.
- 41:55Speaker 11: And they called me and I came in and did it.
- 41:57Speaker 11: So it was great.
- 41:59Speaker 3: Yeah, it's so much fun. Again, it's a weird movie now,
- 42:02Speaker 3: but I loved it at the time and it was
- 42:04Speaker 3: fun to kind of revisit it lately. All right. Well,
- 42:06Speaker 3: you guys are actually kind of overwhelmed this weekend, so
- 42:10Speaker 3: that's amazing. Are you doing this quite often now? Has
- 42:14Speaker 3: it become a big push?
- 42:15Speaker 11: Well, Kathy Coleman, who played my sister, who is creeping
- 42:18Speaker 11: around the corner.
- 42:19Speaker 3: You can come say hello if you'd like.
- 42:20Speaker 11: You can come say hi. Hello, Kathy Coleman. She just
- 42:23Speaker 11: had her lunch, so here. Say hi.
- 42:26Speaker 10: I'm just swallowing the rest of my french fries, but
- 42:28Speaker 10: I wanted to say hello.
- 42:30Speaker 3: Who doesn't love french fries?
- 42:31Speaker 11: Marshall, Will, and Holly on a routine expedition met the
- 42:37Speaker 11: greatest earthquake ever known. High on the rapids, it struck
- 42:43Speaker 11: their tiny rafts. Plunged them down a thousand feet below to.
- 42:50Speaker 7: The land of the lost.
- 42:54Speaker 3: To the land of the lost.
- 42:59Speaker 11: And then Grumpy the Dinosaur goes, roar.
- 43:03Speaker 3: Flashbacks. Everyone's having flashbacks right now.
- 43:06Speaker 11: Holly with her blonde pigtails and her red and white
- 43:10Speaker 11: check shirt.
- 43:11Speaker 3: We were talking about that earlier, actually, out there, like
- 43:14Speaker 3: how influential you kind of were, and a girl doing
- 43:18Speaker 3: action at the time. There were tons of little girls
- 43:20Speaker 3: that didn't really have that on any other shows out there.
- 43:22Speaker 3: Was that something that occurred to you then?
- 43:24Speaker 10: No, not at the time, but I did sit on
- 43:27Speaker 10: a panel at one of these conventions that I do,
- 43:30Speaker 10: and I was with all these, like, women of sci-fi,
- 43:35Speaker 10: and they were women that were kind of the heroes
- 43:39Speaker 10: in the show on some level or they were sort
- 43:42Speaker 10: of the sensual woman of the show and they were
- 43:46Speaker 10: all my age today but when they started on their
- 43:50Speaker 10: tv series they were in their 20s so they had
- 43:52Speaker 10: cute outfits and and everything to wear and there i
- 43:55Speaker 10: was sitting there in my corduroys and my checkered shirt
- 44:00Speaker 10: thinking i wasn't like a sex symbol of any kind
- 44:04Speaker 10: but then somebody pointed out that I was one of
- 44:07Speaker 10: the first girls to have a role where I was
- 44:11Speaker 10: in control of my decisions and I helped the family.
- 44:15Speaker 10: I was a problem solver. And it made me realize
- 44:20Speaker 10: I did. I did a lot of stuff on that show.
- 44:22Speaker 3: Yeah. And before you saw that, you know, it's like,
- 44:25Speaker 3: we see, you see, you know, Ray is the lead
- 44:27Speaker 3: in your Star Wars now, but it's like, we didn't
- 44:29Speaker 3: really have that. You were lucky to kind of cram
- 44:32Speaker 3: Princess Leia in there a little bit, but like you,
- 44:34Speaker 3: you were equally as involved in the adventures as Will was.
- 44:37Speaker 3: So yeah, it's like, it's crazy. It was really fun.
- 44:40Speaker 10: And yeah, it was cool. Good stuff.
- 44:44Speaker 3: Well, that's what, yeah, I was, I was kind of
- 44:46Speaker 3: asking him what, what, This has become, do you guys
- 44:48Speaker 3: do this pretty regular now? And if so, can people
- 44:51Speaker 3: like keep track to where you'll be coming up?
- 44:53Speaker 10: On Facebook, we usually post the shows that we're doing.
- 44:58Speaker 10: This year, exceptionally busy. And I kind of think it's
- 45:00Speaker 10: going to go into next year as well because it's
- 45:04Speaker 10: our 50th next year. But this year, I think we're
- 45:08Speaker 10: doing about 13 shows where normally we do maybe eight,
- 45:11Speaker 10: something like that.
- 45:12Speaker 3: There's a lot of shows out there, but it gets overwhelming. So, yeah.
- 45:17Speaker 10: I would do one every couple of weeks if I could.
- 45:20Speaker 10: I love them. We're interacting with people. We have met
- 45:25Speaker 10: some of the nicest people here in Kentucky.
- 45:27Speaker 3: You have such a fan base. It's crazy. It is
- 45:31Speaker 3: the love that they have for these characters that, yeah,
- 45:34Speaker 3: I would assume... Follows you everywhere you go.
- 45:36Speaker 10: It does because it's these like-minded people. And we all
- 45:40Speaker 10: grew up in a certain era that no longer exists.
- 45:43Speaker 10: It can never exist again.
- 45:45Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 45:46Speaker 10: And it's just people clinging to a beautiful memory. And
- 45:52Speaker 10: it's an honor to be a part of that memory
- 45:55Speaker 10: for people. But a lot of it was the same
- 45:57Speaker 10: stuff that we shared in, too.
- 45:59Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 45:59Speaker 10: I had the poster of David Cassidy on my wall.
- 46:02Speaker 3: I mean, I was.
- 46:03Speaker 10: I was all into all that stuff.
- 46:04Speaker 3: And that guy was trying to steal his job. I know.
- 46:07Speaker 3: I know. We didn't even get to that.
- 46:08Speaker 11: But, yeah.
- 46:10Speaker 10: So, yeah. I wrote my book explaining that my life
- 46:17Speaker 10: has been just like everybody else. I just have a
- 46:19Speaker 10: different job.
- 46:19Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 46:21Speaker 10: Because people, when I was in school and stuff, I
- 46:24Speaker 10: remember kids would say, well- It must be easy for
- 46:27Speaker 10: you being a movie star. First, I had to correct
- 46:30Speaker 10: them and say I'm not a movie star. I was
- 46:32Speaker 10: on television.
- 46:32Speaker 3: I hang out with dinosaurs, though. Yeah.
- 46:35Speaker 10: But yeah, you know, we had all the same struggles
- 46:40Speaker 10: and strife that everybody else has had. It's just really
- 46:45Speaker 10: all it's. how you pick yourself up after those moments, you.
- 46:49Speaker 3: Know, plan on going into that. Like how did you
- 46:52Speaker 3: end up in the show?
- 46:52Speaker 10: My mom, you know, people, when I was a kid
- 46:55Speaker 10: would say, you need to get that. It's because you
- 46:58Speaker 10: know what? It doesn't matter what I do or where
- 47:01Speaker 10: I am in life with a job or what have you.
- 47:04Speaker 10: I'm an entertainer, and that's what I'm going to do
- 47:06Speaker 10: wherever I go. I could be flipping burgers, and my
- 47:10Speaker 10: feet are going to be dancing at the bottom of
- 47:12Speaker 10: the stove.
- 47:13Speaker 3: Land of the Lost themed restaurant. Wait a minute. I
- 47:15Speaker 3: think we're on this thing.
- 47:17Speaker 10: Smilax.
- 47:18Speaker 3: Toronto burgers. We can Hanna-Barbera crossover.
- 47:20Speaker 11: Hold on.
- 47:23Speaker 3: Well, yeah, that was all. I just wanted to see
- 47:26Speaker 3: if there was a way for people to come find you. Yeah, Facebook.
- 47:29Speaker 10: Facebook, we usually post the conventions that we're going to
- 47:32Speaker 10: be attending as soon as we get the go-ahead.
- 47:34Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 47:34Speaker 10: From the promoter. We will then post them and let everybody,
- 47:40Speaker 10: you know, have a chance to come down and exchange
- 47:43Speaker 10: some energy with us. It's fun.
- 47:45Speaker 3: Come hang out.
- 47:46Speaker 10: We give out a ton and the people give it
- 47:49Speaker 10: right back to us. So it's just we're getting rejuvenated
- 47:53Speaker 10: throughout the whole day. It feels great.
- 47:55Speaker 3: And you get to climb a raft every few minutes
- 47:57Speaker 3: and pretend to go down a waterfall.
- 47:59Speaker 10: Yeah, that just keeps us in shape.
- 48:02Speaker 3: Well, this has been fun. So thank you for joining
- 48:04Speaker 3: in and giving your take on it. And yeah, definitely
- 48:08Speaker 3: you've seen the love when people come find you. So yeah,
- 48:10Speaker 3: I'm going to be sure to encourage everyone to come
- 48:12Speaker 3: find you and come out to the shows.
- 48:14Speaker 10: And order my book on Amazon.
- 48:16Speaker 3: Definitely. Is that the best way or do you have
- 48:18Speaker 3: a website?
- 48:18Speaker 10: Run, Holly, run.
- 48:19Speaker 3: Okay. Definitely. Go get the book. Thank you. Thank you.
- 48:25Speaker 11: You know, that was Saturday morning for kids. Time doorways
- 48:28Speaker 11: and matrices and doppelgangers and stuff.
- 48:31Speaker 3: You know, David Gerrold, he was our head writer. He
- 48:35Speaker 3: told the writers, D.C.
- 48:36Speaker 9: Fontana and all those writers, he said, we're not going
- 48:38Speaker 9: to write a Saturday morning show. We're going to write
- 48:40Speaker 9: a sci-fi show that airs on Saturday morning. But it's
- 48:44Speaker 9: not a kid's show. And that's why, I mean, I
- 48:47Speaker 9: know that the effects look hokey and stuff. It's the 70s,
- 48:50Speaker 9: you know, CGI. But it's the stories. I mean, you know,
- 48:54Speaker 9: that's pretty heady for a kid's television program.
- 48:56Speaker 11: And that's why it still has.
- 48:58Speaker 7: A cult following. Hello, this is Caroline Munro and you're
- 49:06Speaker 7: listening to Movie Meltdown.
- 49:08Speaker 2: Movie Meltdown Fraulein Mueller is alarmed At.
- 49:16Speaker 16: The scratches on her arm And the German homework Is
- 49:23Speaker 16: late again Oh no.
- 49:27Speaker 8: She's a sweet stack She's a sweet stack.
- 49:34Speaker 3: She's a sweet stack She's a sweet stack I've got
- 49:41Speaker 3: one thing I was going to discuss that I wasn't
- 49:44Speaker 3: sure if you've seen any of lately. I know years
- 49:47Speaker 3: ago you'd watched, but if we're just playing the, what
- 49:51Speaker 3: have you been watching lately? Not a movie, but definitely
- 49:54Speaker 3: has tons of movie tie-ins. The fact that Riverdale's still
- 49:59Speaker 3: on is amazing. How far back has it been since
- 50:03Speaker 3: you've seen any of it? Season one?
- 50:04Speaker 7: The last time I saw it is when Dylan from
- 50:07Speaker 7: 90210 got shot.
- 50:09Speaker 3: That's a long time ago. And it's weird how essential
- 50:13Speaker 3: he was and you still feel him missing from the show.
- 50:17Speaker 3: It's a shame, man, because he was pretty cool. And
- 50:21Speaker 3: you can tell how much everybody on the cast loved
- 50:23Speaker 3: him because they still... bring up his character and like
- 50:26Speaker 3: find a way to reference him like regularly where normally
- 50:28Speaker 3: there would have been just some like jerk that like
- 50:30Speaker 3: got me too out of the show. They just never
- 50:33Speaker 3: mentioned him, but like everybody still loves Luke Perry. So,
- 50:36Speaker 3: but no, it, I remember last season I was watching
- 50:39Speaker 3: and it sort of went through this. They already did
- 50:41Speaker 3: like last season, season ago, they did this weird time
- 50:44Speaker 3: jump where they jumped ahead into the future, like seven years.
- 50:47Speaker 7: That sounds complicated.
- 50:48Speaker 3: Which is interesting.
- 50:49Speaker 7: So do they start playing ages that are more appropriate?
- 50:52Speaker 3: That's what I was going to say. So then they
- 50:53Speaker 3: all caught up with how old they really are instead
- 50:55Speaker 3: of pretending they're in high school, which is why this
- 50:57Speaker 3: new thing is even weirder. So yeah, they did a
- 50:59Speaker 3: time jump. And normally that I feel like would kill
- 51:02Speaker 3: most shows. It was, again, I feel like a lot
- 51:05Speaker 3: of people probably were annoyed. I enjoyed it. Like I
- 51:08Speaker 3: still feel like they found a way to make that work.
- 51:10Speaker 7: So were they pretending that the other part of the
- 51:12Speaker 7: show was earlier or are we now in the future future?
- 51:16Speaker 3: It doesn't make any sense. Because at one point they
- 51:19Speaker 3: referenced like a current movie being out, which would put
- 51:21Speaker 3: it as real time. But then with the time jump,
- 51:24Speaker 3: now that doesn't match. So like they've created an altering
- 51:27Speaker 3: universe or something. I don't know. It makes no sense.
- 51:29Speaker 3: So I think they weren't planning on this when they did.
- 51:32Speaker 3: we're trying to pin down, are we now, are we not?
- 51:35Speaker 3: So they were more or less a current show at
- 51:37Speaker 3: the time until we get to this new season. So
- 51:40Speaker 3: that's a whole new weird thing. But yeah, I was losing,
- 51:44Speaker 3: I think, I don't know if I just was doing
- 51:45Speaker 3: something else or they switched days or something, but the
- 51:47Speaker 3: end of the last season, I didn't know what was
- 51:49Speaker 3: going on and was missing episodes. So I was like,
- 51:51Speaker 3: I'll just wait and catch up on it later. But
- 51:54Speaker 3: I know at some point the entire town got hit
- 51:56Speaker 3: by a comet. Again, I love the insanity of this show.
- 52:00Speaker 3: Was there space bimbos involved? Probably. They are very sexualized
- 52:04Speaker 3: on that show. I don't know if you remember, but
- 52:06Speaker 3: it has continued to get more and more sexual every episode. So,
- 52:10Speaker 3: I didn't even see that. I was trying to catch
- 52:13Speaker 3: up over the summer, whatever break we're calling in between seasons.
- 52:16Speaker 3: And I still didn't. I was like, well, I'm just
- 52:17Speaker 3: going to jump in and watch this one. So, as
- 52:22Speaker 3: they got hit by a comet, it threw them all
- 52:25Speaker 3: back in time. They are now in actual Archie times.
- 52:30Speaker 3: It actually is taking place in the 50s with all
- 52:32Speaker 3: the Archie characters still being Archie. And originally, Jughead remembered
- 52:38Speaker 3: and knew that this was weird. And then by the
- 52:41Speaker 3: end of that first season, his brain sort of reset too.
- 52:44Speaker 3: And now none of them realize it. And it's really weird.
- 52:48Speaker 3: But it's interesting because we know this is the end
- 52:50Speaker 3: of the show. So it gives them this nice way
- 52:52Speaker 3: to cap it off. And they get to be super
- 52:55Speaker 3: old school about the Archiness of it. Which, again, is
- 52:57Speaker 3: pretty minimal compared to the weird... everybody's horny and wanted
- 53:01Speaker 3: to get laid and nothing but high, like tons of
- 53:04Speaker 3: horror and sci-fi references. So it's, it's just become a
- 53:08Speaker 3: weird horror themed thing this last season with a weird
- 53:13Speaker 3: 50 spin on it. So I'm kind of loving it.
- 53:15Speaker 3: But this last one though, I was going to tell
- 53:17Speaker 3: you about the, the extra movie tie. And actually the
- 53:20Speaker 3: one before that, I think they, Veronica buys the local
- 53:23Speaker 3: movie theater because she's rich and she does those sorts
- 53:25Speaker 3: of things. And she starts running it. And then she like,
- 53:28Speaker 3: Her parents are trying to screw her over because that's
- 53:30Speaker 3: what they do through the entirety of the show. So
- 53:32Speaker 3: they basically won't put in the word and nobody will
- 53:35Speaker 3: get her current movies. So all the movies of the
- 53:38Speaker 3: moment that she would be showing, they now won't give
- 53:41Speaker 3: her copies of. So the only thing she can find
- 53:44Speaker 3: is the crawling eye. So Jughead's like, well, you know,
- 53:48Speaker 3: William Castle, that shit. So they put on that nobody
- 53:53Speaker 3: wanted to come see the crawling eye. So she created
- 53:54Speaker 3: a special 4D experience. which is time and the nerdy
- 53:58Speaker 3: kid trying to tell her that and she's holding shut up.
- 54:00Speaker 3: So it's a special three-dimensional where they made giant beach
- 54:04Speaker 3: balls into giant eyes and attached them to people and
- 54:06Speaker 3: people came out and messed with the audience and it
- 54:08Speaker 3: was a full William Castle experience. And I was like,
- 54:11Speaker 3: all right, that's already movie geek points. I love that.
- 54:14Speaker 3: This last one, it's like it crosses over into Halloween times.
- 54:19Speaker 3: They're playing, well, they get there, they're having like a
- 54:21Speaker 3: Halloween party at the theater. They're playing a song and
- 54:24Speaker 3: I'm like, wait, I know that song. And I have
- 54:28Speaker 3: to look it up. I'm like, cause I know I'm like,
- 54:29Speaker 3: that's more recent, right? It's a squirrel nut zipper song
- 54:32Speaker 3: that they're playing. And I was like, okay, whatever. I'm like, that's,
- 54:35Speaker 3: that's a weird loophole. So then they get up on
- 54:38Speaker 3: stage and there's four coffins up there. And as it
- 54:41Speaker 3: kicks in, the one opens up and she comes out
- 54:45Speaker 3: and she's doing the floor show from Rocky Horror. Hell yeah.
- 54:50Speaker 3: So each of them, Each one opens up. It's each
- 54:53Speaker 3: one of the four. They all do line for line.
- 54:55Speaker 3: The lines from the floor show. And then Veronica shows
- 54:58Speaker 3: up in like full tux and top hat and does
- 55:01Speaker 3: the Frank. All of the Frank performance. Word for word.
- 55:04Speaker 3: Like they don't even doctor it so that it matches
- 55:06Speaker 3: what's going on here exactly. Which I was like, this
- 55:09Speaker 3: is weird. So number one, you know, Rocky dork. I'm
- 55:13Speaker 3: all for that. But at the same time, I was like, well,
- 55:15Speaker 3: they've also like, because they're in this weird alternate universe.
- 55:20Speaker 3: That they've been thrown back in time. I guess things
- 55:22Speaker 3: from modern era could creep in and you could be
- 55:25Speaker 3: listening to Squirrel Nut Zippers in the 50s now. I
- 55:27Speaker 3: don't know. It was a weird, weird world. And one
- 55:32Speaker 3: a couple of weeks ago was like a Tales from
- 55:34Speaker 3: the Crypt episode. Like they literally, he's working at a
- 55:37Speaker 3: comic book place and they did a knockoff. They even
- 55:41Speaker 3: had a knockoff Crypt Keeper guy that was like the
- 55:43Speaker 3: janitor for the school. And he went around, he's like
- 55:45Speaker 3: the key keeper or something. He like goes around and
- 55:48Speaker 3: they do nothing but horror. like little snippet stories throughout the,
- 55:51Speaker 3: I'm telling you, if you're not watching it, it's a
- 55:53Speaker 3: hell of a lot of fun. Do not plan to
- 55:55Speaker 3: take it seriously.
- 55:56Speaker 6: I have not seen this show at all.
- 55:58Speaker 3: It is so much fun.
- 56:00Speaker 7: I've been trying to get caught up on the Orville.
- 56:02Speaker 7: I don't know if I talked about that.
- 56:04Speaker 3: I don't think so, but I can talk about the
- 56:06Speaker 3: Orville cause the Orville is impressive and I wanted to
- 56:08Speaker 3: write it off because of our lead dude, because I'm
- 56:12Speaker 3: pretty iffy on him in general as a writer. And
- 56:15Speaker 3: as an actor, he's even weirder.
- 56:16Speaker 7: I'm okay with his writing, but yeah, his acting, he's
- 56:18Speaker 7: not believable as like a leading man.
- 56:21Speaker 3: Yeah. But you can tell that's like all he wanted
- 56:24Speaker 3: to do as a kid. Like you can tell when
- 56:27Speaker 3: we get into that. Like he was raised on Next Generation.
- 56:32Speaker 3: And like you can feel it in him. Like all
- 56:36Speaker 3: he wanted to do, he's sitting at home as a
- 56:38Speaker 3: little kid going, I just want to be Captain Picard. Like.
- 56:41Speaker 3: Because they do these episodes and it is full-on Next
- 56:44Speaker 3: Generation geekery. It is just so paying tribute in an
- 56:50Speaker 3: over-the-top kind of way. It felt like in the beginning
- 56:54Speaker 3: it was supposed to be kind of a joke. It
- 56:56Speaker 3: was supposed to be like, what if it was like
- 56:58Speaker 3: Star Trek, only funny? And then real quick he was like,
- 57:01Speaker 3: except I kind of just want to write Star Trek episodes.
- 57:03Speaker 3: And it got really serious pretty quick. And every once
- 57:07Speaker 3: in a while they throw in something funny. kind of funny,
- 57:10Speaker 3: but for the most part, it's just serious sci-fi.
- 57:13Speaker 7: And there's a lot of times where, because usually when
- 57:15Speaker 7: you have a show like this, you're like, you know,
- 57:17Speaker 7: nine times out of ten, you're going to get like, oh,
- 57:19Speaker 7: it's going to have a happy ending, everybody's.
- 57:20Speaker 3: Going to be happy. Not necessarily.
- 57:22Speaker 7: No, not in the Orville. And it's fantastic, and I
- 57:26Speaker 7: love it, but there's some things I'm just like, whoa,
- 57:28Speaker 7: that would not fly today.
- 57:30Speaker 3: Well, and just in general, the stuff that they're, I
- 57:33Speaker 3: guess we'll give Seth a little credit, that he's willing
- 57:35Speaker 3: to tackle that real Star Trek would not touch. But
- 57:39Speaker 3: it's one of those things, like, there's certain episodes that
- 57:41Speaker 3: I'm like, okay, they're just glossing over. Because, like, let's
- 57:45Speaker 3: be real. I'll throw out a scenario. Do you know,
- 57:48Speaker 3: at least enough about Star Trek, they have the, like,
- 57:50Speaker 3: room that you can go in and you plug in
- 57:51Speaker 3: your thing and it makes, like, a fake, you know,
- 57:53Speaker 3: you're in a casino. Or you're in the thing they
- 57:55Speaker 3: always went into. Simulator. Yeah, simulator of, like, a fake world.
- 57:59Speaker 6: Apparently not.
- 58:01Speaker 3: Well, they have that. And you go in and you
- 58:03Speaker 3: type in your little computer program and it just three-dimensionally
- 58:06Speaker 3: makes real people and an entire immersive world that you're into.
- 58:09Speaker 6: Is this Logan's run?
- 58:10Speaker 3: More or less. But, real world question, if you had
- 58:14Speaker 3: access to that, where would you be almost immediately?
- 58:19Speaker 7: Land of the Lost.
- 58:20Speaker 3: Okay, after you did your Land of the Lost simulator.
- 58:23Speaker 3: I feel like, much like every technology that's ever happened,
- 58:27Speaker 3: specifically computer-based, the first thing on the forefront of it
- 58:30Speaker 3: is pornography. So as soon as people had access to that,
- 58:34Speaker 3: be like, and I'm getting laid. And like, so that
- 58:37Speaker 3: they would be creating programs around that. They do that
- 58:41Speaker 3: in the Orville. They have one where the guy is
- 58:43Speaker 3: like basically obsessed with porn in this immersive version. And
- 58:48Speaker 3: he keeps going there to so much that it's ruining
- 58:50Speaker 3: his marriage. And I'm like, this is a real thing
- 58:53Speaker 3: to tackle. Like, this is a real kind of shit
- 58:55Speaker 3: that like, deal with and like you're putting it in
- 58:58Speaker 3: this goofy sci-fi show but like no way in hell
- 59:01Speaker 3: would Star Trek touch that so it's like this is
- 59:03Speaker 3: the kind of stuff that I'm impressed that they're willing
- 59:07Speaker 3: to go there. And there's several other weird topics that
- 59:10Speaker 3: I'm like, ooh, most shows would not go down this road.
- 59:13Speaker 3: And they say, screw it, and they do it anyway.
- 59:16Speaker 3: So I'm impressed with the Orville. As much as Seth
- 59:19Speaker 3: is an iffy leading man, the rest of the cast
- 59:21Speaker 3: is solid. Yeah. What was it?
- 59:24Speaker 7: Alara. I loved Alara.
- 59:26Speaker 3: Alara?
- 59:27Speaker 7: Did I get her name wrong? I.
- 59:29Speaker 3: I finished season three. I was going to say, it's
- 59:31Speaker 3: been a while since I've seen the first season, but yep.
- 59:34Speaker 11: Alara.
- 59:36Speaker 7: She was the cutest little badass alien chick.
- 59:39Speaker 3: It's, it's, yeah, I'm surprised how impressive it is just
- 59:43Speaker 3: story-wise more than anything. And the effects are solid too
- 59:46Speaker 3: for a TV show. Like again, I guess it's just
- 59:50Speaker 3: because technology is caught up in even lower budget TV shows.
- 59:54Speaker 3: Not that this one's that low budget, but compared to
- 59:56Speaker 3: like film quality, like it, pretty close sometimes like i'm
- 59:59Speaker 3: surprised how well this you know tv show that was
- 1:00:03Speaker 3: on an extra network now i think it's like a
- 1:00:05Speaker 3: streaming network i was like usually that cuts your budget
- 1:00:08Speaker 3: even more that like looks pretty good so i don't
- 1:00:11Speaker 3: know across the board i'm pretty impressed with it there's
- 1:00:15Speaker 3: some geeky talk have you watched anything geeky lately.
- 1:00:19Speaker 6: Have i have i watched anything geeky no i keep
- 1:00:22Speaker 6: watching documentaries about crazy churches.
- 1:00:25Speaker 3: Cults are you trying to start one I wish I could.
- 1:00:28Speaker 3: Because I kind of, I'm surprised you haven't already, really.
- 1:00:32Speaker 7: Yeah. I joined the cult of buckies.
- 1:00:34Speaker 3: That is true.
- 1:00:35Speaker 6: I probably could start a cult, but I just don't
- 1:00:36Speaker 6: like talking to strangers, you know?
- 1:00:38Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 1:00:39Speaker 3: See, that's why I've given up on most of these things.
- 1:00:41Speaker 3: I'm just like interacting with people, let alone regular humans.
- 1:00:45Speaker 8: Ugh.
- 1:00:45Speaker 6: And like, you know, cult leaders kind of feed on
- 1:00:48Speaker 6: dumb people. I kind of get annoyed by it.
- 1:00:49Speaker 3: Yeah. So, I guess I'm out. This all makes sense.
- 1:00:52Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:00:52Speaker 3: Yeah. You just need to back one, I guess. Find
- 1:00:57Speaker 3: some dupe that you can puppet master.
- 1:01:00Speaker 6: The only thing I've seen that's newer to me, that's
- 1:01:03Speaker 6: somewhat recent, that's nerdy, have you seen Psycho Gorman?
- 1:01:08Speaker 3: I know of it. I've not watched it.
- 1:01:11Speaker 6: Hilarious. It's basically about this little girl that I don't
- 1:01:16Speaker 6: know if it's a demon, but there's like a crystal
- 1:01:19Speaker 6: that gives us its power, but she has it. So
- 1:01:21Speaker 6: she has power over this thing, and she's like this
- 1:01:24Speaker 6: little brat. And she's telling this earth-destroying demon what to do.
- 1:01:29Speaker 6: It's funny as hell. I liked it. Just check it out.
- 1:01:33Speaker 3: One more for the list. Anything else we need to
- 1:01:37Speaker 3: attack while we're here?
- 1:01:39Speaker 13: Nope. The clones.
- 1:01:44Speaker 3: Your favorite film? Is that what you're saying? Attack of
- 1:01:45Speaker 3: the Clones is your favorite film?
- 1:01:47Speaker 11: No.
- 1:01:48Speaker 3: I defend it more than most people. I like the
- 1:01:51Speaker 3: end of it. It is just a big, dumb pulp. movie.
- 1:01:53Speaker 6: Which one is it?
- 1:01:55Speaker 3: It's the second of the prequels. Which, at the end,
- 1:01:58Speaker 3: there's a giant.
- 1:01:58Speaker 6: Is that the one with the forearm robot? And the
- 1:02:01Speaker 6: dinosaur monsters?
- 1:02:03Speaker 3: Yeah. That's what I'm saying. By the end, it's just like.
- 1:02:06Speaker 6: I can't keep them straight.
- 1:02:07Speaker 3: It's like... What's his name that goes to Mars? What's
- 1:02:10Speaker 3: that dude that goes to Mars?
- 1:02:12Speaker 6: Bruno Mars?
- 1:02:14Speaker 3: Bruno Mars, exactly.
- 1:02:15Speaker 7: John Carter?
- 1:02:16Speaker 3: There we go. It's like John Carter from Mars. It
- 1:02:19Speaker 3: really is like old-timey pulpiness that's like... Cash.
- 1:02:25Speaker 6: Cash money.
- 1:02:27Speaker 3: But, I mean, it's just big, dumb pulp fun. And, like,
- 1:02:30Speaker 3: if you told me you could have a whole big
- 1:02:32Speaker 3: arena with giant monsters and then a whole bunch of
- 1:02:35Speaker 3: dudes with lightsabers show up to have a fight and
- 1:02:37Speaker 3: Boba Fett's there, I'm like, hell yeah, this is all
- 1:02:39Speaker 3: the best thing I've ever heard of. Fair. It's all there. Like,
- 1:02:42Speaker 3: you know, you just got to weed through a whole
- 1:02:44Speaker 3: bunch of other crap that comes with it. But you
- 1:02:46Speaker 3: get those moments when I'm like, eh, this part's pretty
- 1:02:48Speaker 3: fun to me. Yeah. Yeah, I'll ride out that last half.
- 1:02:52Speaker 3: It's a lot of fun.
- 1:02:54Speaker 6: As long as I can sell a toy, it's cool.
- 1:02:56Speaker 3: There you go.
- 1:02:56Speaker 7: That's why they make movies.
- 1:02:59Speaker 3: At this point, that's pretty much where we're at now, yeah.
- 1:03:02Speaker 6: I think it's always been that way by design.
- 1:03:04Speaker 3: Pretty much.
- 1:03:05Speaker 6: And we were just suckered.
- 1:03:07Speaker 3: We fell for it every time.
- 1:03:08Speaker 6: And I still fall for it.
- 1:03:09Speaker 3: They were slow getting started. I feel like toys were
- 1:03:13Speaker 3: hard to come by for geeky stuff in the early days.
- 1:03:16Speaker 3: So you get that like, Star Trek kind of wading
- 1:03:19Speaker 3: in and they started making a little bit of stuff
- 1:03:21Speaker 3: for those guys. And then by the time you get
- 1:03:23Speaker 3: to Star Wars, they went, oh. oh, no, this is
- 1:03:25Speaker 3: what we do.
- 1:03:26Speaker 11: This is how we do this now.
- 1:03:27Speaker 6: I was thinking more specifically of the 80s when everything was.
- 1:03:30Speaker 3: Designed to sell. By the time you get there, that's
- 1:03:32Speaker 3: what I'm saying.
- 1:03:32Speaker 7: Why they made He-Man, right?
- 1:03:34Speaker 3: Oh, it is.
- 1:03:35Speaker 6: And G.I.
- 1:03:35Speaker 2: Joe.
- 1:03:36Speaker 15: G.I.
- 1:03:36Speaker 3: Joe, Transformers. My little pony.
- 1:03:39Speaker 6: They got my number.
- 1:03:41Speaker 3: Take your pick. It's like everything is made.
- 1:03:43Speaker 11: G.I.
- 1:03:43Speaker 6: Joe literally made those cartoons to sell the new stuff
- 1:03:46Speaker 6: coming out.
- 1:03:47Speaker 11: How many G.I.
- 1:03:48Speaker 7: Joe figures do you own?
- 1:03:50Speaker 6: Oh, my God. We don't even have to go there.
- 1:03:52Speaker 6: I have a whole room full of only Cobra stuff.
- 1:03:54Speaker 6: There's so much G.I. Joe stuff, I can't even collect G.I.
- 1:03:57Speaker 3: Joe.
- 1:03:57Speaker 6: I just got the bad guys.
- 1:03:58Speaker 3: You had to narrow it down.
- 1:03:59Speaker 6: I mean, there's that much stuff. It's outrageous.
- 1:04:03Speaker 3: A lot.
- 1:04:03Speaker 6: I have definitely over 100 individual Cobra guys.
- 1:04:08Speaker 7: Are they still in the package?
- 1:04:09Speaker 6: Oh, God, I'm not that guy.
- 1:04:11Speaker 3: I appreciate that.
- 1:04:12Speaker 6: I like to display shit.
- 1:04:13Speaker 3: I've gotten away from. There's a few things I remember
- 1:04:16Speaker 3: buying back when, again, that second wave of Star Wars pushed.
- 1:04:19Speaker 3: And I was like, I need these, and I'm not
- 1:04:20Speaker 3: going to open them.
- 1:04:21Speaker 5: Oh, yeah.
- 1:04:22Speaker 3: And then later, I'm like, now I have a box
- 1:04:24Speaker 3: somewhere of just unopened figures sitting stored away that I
- 1:04:27Speaker 3: haven't looked at in 20 years.
- 1:04:28Speaker 6: Same thing. I've got storage containers of boxes.
- 1:04:31Speaker 3: And I'm like, why? Why did I do that?
- 1:04:33Speaker 6: Because everybody thinks one day.
- 1:04:35Speaker 3: And they are.
- 1:04:36Speaker 7: How many sealed Jar Jar Binks figures do you have?
- 1:04:38Speaker 3: Zero. I can thankfully say zero. Do I have prequel-y stuff? Yeah.
- 1:04:44Speaker 3: I definitely got a Darth Maul. I got the cool
- 1:04:47Speaker 3: stuff when it first came out. But yeah, that wave
- 1:04:51Speaker 3: was the tail end of it. I was already getting
- 1:04:54Speaker 3: to the point of like, I can't afford to buy
- 1:04:55Speaker 3: crap anymore. Oh, yeah, no.
- 1:04:57Speaker 6: As a matter of fact, I was kind of into
- 1:04:59Speaker 6: Star Wars collecting at that time. Kind of. It was
- 1:05:03Speaker 6: so bad, it made me turn on them.
- 1:05:04Speaker 3: Yeah, I feel like a lot of people at different
- 1:05:07Speaker 3: points have turned on Star Wars.
- 1:05:09Speaker 6: And it... It started to be that way with G.I.
- 1:05:11Speaker 4: Joe.
- 1:05:11Speaker 6: I mean, not that I don't still love the old stuff.
- 1:05:14Speaker 3: I still love you, G.I. Joe.
- 1:05:15Speaker 6: Don't take it personally.
- 1:05:16Speaker 3: Yeah, right?
- 1:05:16Speaker 6: Well, I mean, they're putting out all this cool new
- 1:05:18Speaker 6: stuff that costs more than buying vintage stuff. And it's like,
- 1:05:21Speaker 6: I can't keep up. And they keep blasting it out.
- 1:05:23Speaker 3: It's too much. It's just way too much. Yeah. I
- 1:05:27Speaker 3: can't even... I can't even keep up with any of it.
- 1:05:30Speaker 6: So it's like, I'm at a point where I'm just like,
- 1:05:31Speaker 6: you know what?
- 1:05:33Speaker 11: Nah.
- 1:05:34Speaker 3: Now I just go for weird stuff. So I'm still
- 1:05:37Speaker 3: movie dork, but I try to find where does the weird...
- 1:05:40Speaker 3: stuff crossover with movie dork enough that i was telling
- 1:05:44Speaker 3: misty earlier while we were walking around because i saw
- 1:05:46Speaker 3: something that looked like a chalkware frankenstein that was really
- 1:05:51Speaker 3: expensive and i was just like i'm the kind of
- 1:05:53Speaker 3: guy that likes chalkware because of the cheesiness of it
- 1:05:57Speaker 3: and then once i was like but i'm like normally
- 1:05:59Speaker 3: it's just like a weird looking dog or some sort
- 1:06:01Speaker 3: of character that i don't know what the hell it
- 1:06:02Speaker 3: is and then the other day i found one that
- 1:06:05Speaker 3: was king kong and i was like And I have
- 1:06:08Speaker 3: to buy this.
- 1:06:08Speaker 6: New collection.
- 1:06:09Speaker 3: It crossed over. And I'm like, movie geek and old
- 1:06:12Speaker 3: school weird geek crap.
- 1:06:13Speaker 7: I forgot to mention that Frankenstein had a cape.
- 1:06:16Speaker 3: He is badass. If it wasn't so expensive, I would
- 1:06:18Speaker 3: totally be in the hole on that one. But he's
- 1:06:20Speaker 3: out of my price range. I am too poor for that.
- 1:06:23Speaker 3: I was pushing it on King Kong. Kong was too much.
- 1:06:25Speaker 3: Because usually the paint job, by nature, chalkware looks like crap.
- 1:06:28Speaker 3: So that was the way they did it. This one
- 1:06:30Speaker 3: was like. It's old.
- 1:06:31Speaker 7: It's old, too. So it's probably been dropped a half
- 1:06:33Speaker 7: a dozen times.
- 1:06:34Speaker 3: There's jeans everywhere. The fact that this wasn't broken, which
- 1:06:36Speaker 3: it should have been. by this time. It's from the 50s,
- 1:06:39Speaker 3: I think it said. And supposedly the original paint job.
- 1:06:42Speaker 3: And it looks amazing. So I'm like, damn it, I'm
- 1:06:45Speaker 3: going to have to go for this.
- 1:06:47Speaker 7: And you didn't take a picture?
- 1:06:48Speaker 3: Oh, I have pictures on me right now. I'm that
- 1:06:51Speaker 3: kind of dork too. But yeah, so it's surprising how
- 1:06:55Speaker 3: well that one has held up and how good it
- 1:06:58Speaker 3: looks compared to, I went on eBay and I was like,
- 1:07:00Speaker 3: the paint job on these look like garbage. So like
- 1:07:03Speaker 3: the same mold is out there somewhere, but whoever they
- 1:07:05Speaker 3: hired to paint this, they paid and Hobo booze or
- 1:07:08Speaker 3: something because, yeah, this is, yeah, the one I got
- 1:07:11Speaker 3: somehow looks good. So that's the kind of dorky stuff
- 1:07:14Speaker 3: I'm buying. Hobo booze.
- 1:07:16Speaker 6: Hobo booze. Booze, booze, whatever.
- 1:07:18Speaker 3: I referenced that because someone I know told me that's
- 1:07:21Speaker 3: how they got hit up the other day. There was
- 1:07:23Speaker 3: a dude hanging out in front of the liquor store.
- 1:07:26Speaker 3: And it went from, it wasn't just standard, like, give
- 1:07:29Speaker 3: me a dollar. It was like, hey, can you get
- 1:07:32Speaker 3: me something? And the guy was way more of a sport.
- 1:07:34Speaker 3: I'm like, I'm not talking to you. Go away. he
- 1:07:36Speaker 3: was just like, oh yeah, what do you want? You
- 1:07:38Speaker 3: want like a beer or something? He was like, um,
- 1:07:40Speaker 3: a couple of shots. And he was like, all right.
- 1:07:44Speaker 3: And then he specifically launched into which kind of booze
- 1:07:48Speaker 3: that he wanted. He named a brand and like, yeah,
- 1:07:53Speaker 3: for a bum asking for booze. And when he came
- 1:07:56Speaker 3: out and he was just like, he handed him the
- 1:07:57Speaker 3: bottle that he specifically asked for. And he went, um,
- 1:08:00Speaker 3: can you do me a favor? And he's like, no,
- 1:08:02Speaker 3: I just did it. So, Hobos are still out there
- 1:08:05Speaker 3: looking for booze is my takeaway on that. So just
- 1:08:07Speaker 3: know that. Indeed. Yeah, Joe and that in the world.
- 1:08:10Speaker 7: Watch out.
- 1:08:10Speaker 6: I'm a hobo looking for booze.
- 1:08:12Speaker 3: I believe it, kind of. But you're more of a
- 1:08:14Speaker 3: will work for toys kind of a thing.
- 1:08:16Speaker 1: Facts.
- 1:08:17Speaker 7: Will work for sleaze stacks. Facts.
- 1:08:19Speaker 3: No, because that'll run out quick. There's only three. It
- 1:08:22Speaker 3: won't last you very long. There's only three.
- 1:08:24Speaker 7: They keep running around in different directions.
- 1:08:25Speaker 3: Maybe toys.
- 1:08:26Speaker 6: Well, it's funny because, you know, you talk about the
- 1:08:28Speaker 6: weird stuff you collect. And I was trying to get
- 1:08:30Speaker 6: into like stuff that's kind of rare. Like that's a
- 1:08:33Speaker 6: little bit. Less accessible. And like Land of the Lost
- 1:08:37Speaker 6: was before the Star Wars thing. So there's not really
- 1:08:39Speaker 6: a whole lot of collectibles. It's very limited. And the
- 1:08:42Speaker 6: things that they do have are almost all carded rack toys.
- 1:08:47Speaker 3: Because they were way cheaper.
- 1:08:49Speaker 6: They would take some generic plastic thing that had nothing
- 1:08:51Speaker 6: to do with the show like moon spinners or like
- 1:08:54Speaker 6: a periscope. And then they would just slap a tag
- 1:08:57Speaker 6: on it like a cardboard header and be like SC.
- 1:09:00Speaker 6: on TV and I mean it sounds awful but that's
- 1:09:03Speaker 6: what there is and you bought it all outrageously expensive
- 1:09:07Speaker 6: oh of course because it's rare.
- 1:09:09Speaker 3: Of course it is now I mean and you bought
- 1:09:12Speaker 3: it all oh.
- 1:09:13Speaker 6: They're not that easy to find I only have three
- 1:09:16Speaker 6: and there's probably.
- 1:09:17Speaker 3: Like 12 at least.
- 1:09:20Speaker 6: Different things.
- 1:09:20Speaker 3: The kind of people that would slap it on the
- 1:09:23Speaker 3: back of a knockoff pinball machine. Exactly.
- 1:09:26Speaker 6: Exactly.
- 1:09:26Speaker 3: I say that because you had one in your bag earlier.
- 1:09:29Speaker 3: I got it signed. That's one of the ones you had.
- 1:09:32Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean, those toys were literally made for a
- 1:09:34Speaker 6: kid to beg at the grocery store because they were
- 1:09:36Speaker 6: so cheap. They were made to go home, open up,
- 1:09:40Speaker 6: goof around with, and then just discard. Break it. Yeah,
- 1:09:43Speaker 6: so there's not.
- 1:09:43Speaker 3: 20 minutes is broken. That stuff just.
- 1:09:45Speaker 6: Doesn't exist if you can find it. And if you look,
- 1:09:48Speaker 6: they did that with, like, Everything marketable, like Bionic Woman,
- 1:09:51Speaker 6: Charlie's Angels, all the superheroes.
- 1:09:53Speaker 3: See, that's what I'm saying. At that point, they were
- 1:09:55Speaker 3: just trying to figure it out.
- 1:09:57Speaker 6: They were just sticking it on everything.
- 1:09:58Speaker 3: It's not until you get to George Lucas comes along
- 1:10:00Speaker 3: and signed the deal and went, I'm going to make
- 1:10:02Speaker 3: toys and this is where my fortune is going to
- 1:10:04Speaker 3: come from. But before that, everybody else was like, I
- 1:10:08Speaker 3: think we can sell some of this stuff. Because you
- 1:10:09Speaker 3: do see toys, again, here more than anywhere. They have
- 1:10:12Speaker 3: super old school stuff.
- 1:10:12Speaker 6: You need this pair of Steve Austin shoelaces.
- 1:10:15Speaker 3: Yeah, it's like you get to that stuff.
- 1:10:17Speaker 6: That ties into the show, right?
- 1:10:18Speaker 3: 50s and 60s and even the 70s where they're still
- 1:10:21Speaker 3: just sort of wading in and being like, how about
- 1:10:23Speaker 3: a Man from U.N.C.L.E. board game? Sound like a thing?
- 1:10:25Speaker 3: Because I saw one of those recently and I'm like, yeah, sure.
- 1:10:28Speaker 3: So it's got like weird original artwork and it's pieced
- 1:10:31Speaker 3: together with photos from the show.
- 1:10:33Speaker 6: It is unbelievable how many like old TV show board games.
- 1:10:37Speaker 3: Dukes of Hazzard.
- 1:10:38Speaker 7: Or it's a Dukes of Hazzard because I'm pretty sure.
- 1:10:40Speaker 3: Oh, I'm sure. I'm sure.
- 1:10:42Speaker 6: There's a Land of the Lost. One of the few
- 1:10:45Speaker 6: marketed things that they had out there.
- 1:10:47Speaker 3: Board games. I'm telling you. Which is weird because now
- 1:10:49Speaker 3: there's such a weird board game thing that I guess
- 1:10:53Speaker 3: then they were just pushing it and people were only
- 1:10:55Speaker 3: kind of half buying them. But yeah, that's one of
- 1:10:58Speaker 3: the things they made.
- 1:10:58Speaker 6: People were a lot more bored back then. You might
- 1:11:00Speaker 6: sit around and play a board game.
- 1:11:04Speaker 2: Sad.
- 1:11:04Speaker 3: Fantastic. Sad.
- 1:11:08Speaker 7: I'm surprised you're not wearing the Crocs today.
- 1:11:10Speaker 6: I had them on yesterday.
- 1:11:13Speaker 7: You tied your shoes for this event.
- 1:11:16Speaker 11: I did.
- 1:11:16Speaker 6: I put boots on. I shaved my little pointy goatee.
- 1:11:21Speaker 3: Did not scare Holly.
- 1:11:22Speaker 7: I thought you were going to say you shaved your toes.
- 1:11:26Speaker 6: I shaved my toes. Just for this special occasion.
- 1:11:29Speaker 3: That's something I just saw recently.
- 1:11:32Speaker 7: Bill shaved toes?
- 1:11:33Speaker 3: No, not that, thankfully. But I'm assuming at some point,
- 1:11:37Speaker 3: I thought you brought it up a long time ago,
- 1:11:38Speaker 3: that you'd seen Idiocracy.
- 1:11:40Speaker 7: I've never seen Idiocracy.
- 1:11:41Speaker 3: Oh. Well, I hadn't for years. And, like, I finally
- 1:11:43Speaker 3: got around to watching it. But it was online the
- 1:11:46Speaker 3: other day that they brought up that I think when
- 1:11:47Speaker 3: I watched that I didn't notice. But, like, they do this,
- 1:11:49Speaker 3: you know, the genius of pinning down stupidity of mankind
- 1:11:54Speaker 3: that Mike Judge specializes in, as we all know. And, yeah,
- 1:11:58Speaker 3: so this is, like, you know, mankind goes horribly wrong
- 1:12:01Speaker 3: in current days or when the movie was made. And
- 1:12:04Speaker 3: then we jump into the future and see, like, only
- 1:12:06Speaker 3: the stupidest people are breeding and the entirety of.
- 1:12:08Speaker 7: It has come true.
- 1:12:09Speaker 3: Yeah. We live in the idiocracy times, but like the
- 1:12:13Speaker 3: point in fact is at the time they were trying
- 1:12:15Speaker 3: to figure out, like they didn't have a ton of
- 1:12:17Speaker 3: money for that movie. So they were trying to like
- 1:12:19Speaker 3: come up with basic stuff for like, you know, props
- 1:12:22Speaker 3: and costuming and whatever. And they've found this up and
- 1:12:25Speaker 3: coming shoe company and they were like, ah, good enough.
- 1:12:27Speaker 3: Just go with that. It's Crocs. They're all wearing these
- 1:12:30Speaker 3: weird orange prison colored Crocs. And I was just like,
- 1:12:34Speaker 3: oh my God, we have caught up with it. We
- 1:12:36Speaker 3: are the idiocracy now. So. Crocs, that's the end of
- 1:12:40Speaker 3: the days.
- 1:12:41Speaker 6: Well, did you see that one? I think it was
- 1:12:42Speaker 6: called Don't Look Up.
- 1:12:44Speaker 3: Yeah, that's kind of that same, similar, only a little,
- 1:12:49Speaker 3: a little preachier about it.
- 1:12:52Speaker 6: Oh, yeah.
- 1:12:52Speaker 3: That was my issue with that. I was like, and
- 1:12:54Speaker 3: I don't even, again, it's like, I don't even disagree
- 1:12:57Speaker 3: with what you're saying. I just don't like preachy way
- 1:13:00Speaker 3: you're saying it.
- 1:13:00Speaker 6: Well, that in its own right is dumbing shit down.
- 1:13:03Speaker 3: Yeah. I was just like, you're telling the audience, you're
- 1:13:08Speaker 3: not smart enough to figure out the cleverness of this.
- 1:13:12Speaker 3: Let me point it out and then put a big
- 1:13:14Speaker 3: flashy neon sign of like, look how dumb.
- 1:13:16Speaker 6: Let me hold it up to your face where it's
- 1:13:18Speaker 6: touching your face.
- 1:13:19Speaker 3: And again, it's very of the moment of these people.
- 1:13:21Speaker 3: These people in our society are the problem. And I'm like,
- 1:13:24Speaker 3: oh yeah, don't we get enough of that shit? Do
- 1:13:25Speaker 3: I need this in this dumb movie? I get it.
- 1:13:28Speaker 3: There were moments I really like. mostly the song that
- 1:13:32Speaker 3: they bring in Ariana Grande to specifically sing. I'm like,
- 1:13:36Speaker 3: all right, that, that needed an Oscar nom. I said
- 1:13:38Speaker 3: it on the show. So I don't know what they
- 1:13:40Speaker 3: were thinking on that one. I don't think they can
- 1:13:44Speaker 3: afford it, but, but yeah, so it's, this, we've come
- 1:13:50Speaker 3: to the end of days. Crocs will do it. That's
- 1:13:53Speaker 3: the end of times. End of days.
- 1:13:55Speaker 7: And that the movie with Arnold Schwarzenegger, is he wearing
- 1:13:57Speaker 7: Crocs in that movie?
- 1:13:59Speaker 3: Probably. I don't know. Do they make Arnold-sized Crocs? I
- 1:14:03Speaker 3: don't know.
- 1:14:04Speaker 6: One size fits all.
- 1:14:05Speaker 3: Can he fit his ego into a Croc? I don't know.
- 1:14:08Speaker 3: He still thinks.
- 1:14:09Speaker 6: He's got it. Into the Croc.
- 1:14:10Speaker 3: I mean, he's got his own new TV show now.
- 1:14:13Speaker 3: So even the old man of the year. Yeah, I
- 1:14:15Speaker 3: just saw the other day.
- 1:14:16Speaker 7: And also Buster Stallone does.
- 1:14:17Speaker 3: Stallone's got the new movie coming out.
- 1:14:19Speaker 7: He has a new reality show, I think.
- 1:14:21Speaker 3: Well, no, that's right. I saw the ads for those.
- 1:14:23Speaker 3: But no, Arnold has like a new like fake, you know,
- 1:14:27Speaker 3: not documentary show. That looks... I think it's FUBAR?
- 1:14:32Speaker 6: FUBAR, that's it.
- 1:14:32Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah. I don't know. I haven't had time to
- 1:14:36Speaker 3: even wade into it yet. There's too many things. I
- 1:14:38Speaker 3: can't keep up.
- 1:14:38Speaker 6: Too many things.
- 1:14:39Speaker 3: Too many things.
- 1:14:41Speaker 7: And I don't watch any of it.
- 1:14:44Speaker 3: Yeah. At least this time we found some things, though.
- 1:14:47Speaker 3: Usually we get to these and we're like, I haven't
- 1:14:48Speaker 3: watched anything. So we found some stuff, at least. We
- 1:14:52Speaker 3: got that going for us. Yay!
- 1:14:57Speaker 12: Well.
- 1:14:57Speaker 3: If we've worn ourselves out here.
- 1:14:59Speaker 7: Yeah, I'm done.
- 1:15:00Speaker 3: I think we're creeping out the regular people that are
- 1:15:02Speaker 3: hanging around.
- 1:15:02Speaker 7: There's no regular people here.
- 1:15:03Speaker 3: That's true, though. Wonderfest is a special brand of hardcore geek.
- 1:15:07Speaker 6: I am creepy.
- 1:15:07Speaker 3: But here, I think you blend in just fine. We
- 1:15:11Speaker 3: found our people here, so it's fine. Still, eventually, they'll
- 1:15:15Speaker 3: want us to move along.
- 1:15:16Speaker 6: I made out good. I didn't get a restraining order
- 1:15:18Speaker 6: put against me.
- 1:15:19Speaker 3: The day is not over. That's true. The first normal day.
- 1:15:23Speaker 3: We still got plenty to go.
- 1:15:25Speaker 7: The weekend has not yet come to an end. If
- 1:15:28Speaker 7: you are banned from further Wonderfest events after this weekend.
- 1:15:32Speaker 3: This was my first real one.
- 1:15:33Speaker 6: And last.
- 1:15:37Speaker 3: Oh, Lord. Well, I did want to... Normally, we coordinate
- 1:15:42Speaker 3: this with Dave and I send a thank you out
- 1:15:45Speaker 3: to him for putting it together.
- 1:15:46Speaker 12: But.
- 1:15:48Speaker 3: he's unofficially retired this year.
- 1:15:50Speaker 7: We would still like to send out a big thank
- 1:15:52Speaker 7: you to Dave for all the years that he has
- 1:15:53Speaker 7: supported the podcast.
- 1:15:54Speaker 11: Definitely.
- 1:15:54Speaker 3: He's helped put these episodes together every year and didn't
- 1:15:58Speaker 3: kick us out when we were standing around doing it
- 1:15:59Speaker 3: like we are right now.
- 1:16:01Speaker 6: And I love his hamburgers.
- 1:16:02Speaker 3: Thanks to, I don't know what you're, thanks to him anyway,
- 1:16:06Speaker 3: but that aside, yeah, he's loitering around somewhere. He still
- 1:16:10Speaker 3: hangs out here now, but he doesn't have to do
- 1:16:12Speaker 3: all the work. So then I got to this year
- 1:16:13Speaker 3: and went, oh, do you guys still want us to do?
- 1:16:15Speaker 3: I was like, we've been coming here so damn long.
- 1:16:18Speaker 3: I was like, I just am used to coming here,
- 1:16:20Speaker 3: but maybe nobody wants us here. So, um, thankfully, um, we, we,
- 1:16:25Speaker 3: we touched base with Melinda. So thank you to Melinda.
- 1:16:27Speaker 3: Cause she did say yes. And both saw us earlier
- 1:16:29Speaker 3: and he didn't kick us out. So we're doing okay.
- 1:16:32Speaker 3: We're still semi part of the family. I've said, we're always,
- 1:16:36Speaker 3: you know, the, the bastard stepchild of this operation. Cause
- 1:16:39Speaker 3: everybody else here is like super tight. Like the people
- 1:16:42Speaker 3: that come here, love this place and come back every year.
- 1:16:45Speaker 3: And like the guests, become constant running guests because they
- 1:16:49Speaker 3: don't want to you know they don't want to miss
- 1:16:50Speaker 3: out so like you see guests come back they'll show
- 1:16:53Speaker 3: up for one year and then they come back and
- 1:16:54Speaker 3: they they actually like enjoy the family atmosphere of this
- 1:16:58Speaker 3: we're there but we're that you know those those weird
- 1:17:01Speaker 3: kids at the family reunion that are sitting over there
- 1:17:03Speaker 3: i'm used to that misty's stirring the kool-aid with her
- 1:17:06Speaker 3: hand you.
- 1:17:06Speaker 7: Know after i put like two or three cups of six.
- 1:17:10Speaker 13: Cups of sugar need help ripping up the bible So, yeah,
- 1:17:17Speaker 13: we're at least kind of invited, so I appreciate that.
- 1:17:21Speaker 3: So thank you to everyone at Wonderfest for letting us
- 1:17:24Speaker 3: be part of this insanity. We bring the insanity. Everything
- 1:17:28Speaker 3: else here has been pretty smooth, actually. Bill, thank you
- 1:17:31Speaker 3: for joining us.
- 1:17:32Speaker 6: You're welcome.
- 1:17:34Speaker 3: Misty, you always get roped into this, so good for you.
- 1:17:38Speaker 3: For more on the event, go to wonderfest.com and start
- 1:17:42Speaker 3: planning your trip here next year. I'm sure it's back
- 1:17:45Speaker 3: because I bet they've already booked all the tables. So
- 1:17:48Speaker 3: they will be back with a whole new bunch of
- 1:17:50Speaker 3: people and a lot of the regulars because everybody wants
- 1:17:52Speaker 3: to still be part of the fun. So that can
- 1:17:55Speaker 3: be you. You could be Bill next year. You could
- 1:17:58Speaker 3: be waiting in for the first time going, this is amazing.
- 1:18:02Speaker 3: Try to control yourself.
- 1:18:03Speaker 7: Try not to get banned.
- 1:18:05Speaker 3: That's as excited as I've seen you in years. I know.
- 1:18:08Speaker 7: Dude, I've never seen Bill that happy.
- 1:18:10Speaker 3: That is true.
- 1:18:12Speaker 6: Yeah, I was pretty stoked.
- 1:18:13Speaker 3: You were dressed in khaki with a pith helmet.
- 1:18:16Speaker 4: Yes.
- 1:18:17Speaker 3: And you were giddy. I don't know that I've seen
- 1:18:20Speaker 3: you that happy.
- 1:18:20Speaker 7: What were your feelings about the pith helmet?
- 1:18:22Speaker 6: That's a good point. Life as an adult gets pretty drab.
- 1:18:25Speaker 13: Yeah.
- 1:18:25Speaker 6: And then it takes something simple like that to just
- 1:18:27Speaker 6: make you feel like nothing matters for a second at least.
- 1:18:30Speaker 3: That's awesome. I rarely get that. So when I notice it,
- 1:18:35Speaker 3: I try to be like, Just enjoy this for a moment,
- 1:18:39Speaker 3: for God's sakes. Exactly.
- 1:18:41Speaker 7: And you enjoy the coolness of the pith helmet.
- 1:18:44Speaker 13: No.
- 1:18:45Speaker 6: That is a myth.
- 1:18:46Speaker 3: In case you're considering that being your new look. as
- 1:18:50Speaker 3: a review from Bill, it's kind of toasty.
- 1:18:52Speaker 6: The pith helmet is like a heater on your head.
- 1:18:55Speaker 7: Now imagine if it was black.
- 1:18:57Speaker 3: Just bottles in the heat. At least it would look cool. Yeah.
- 1:19:00Speaker 7: You'd have like an entire black explorer elf.
- 1:19:03Speaker 6: I'm going to look into this because I'm confused actually.
- 1:19:07Speaker 6: What the hell is that hat for?
- 1:19:08Speaker 3: Way to go. Well, I kind of always thought that
- 1:19:11Speaker 3: with like most of those, anything you see where people
- 1:19:13Speaker 3: are out in the desert, they're usually wearing tons of layers.
- 1:19:16Speaker 3: And I'm like, I guess it's to protect you from
- 1:19:18Speaker 3: the sun or the sandstorms or, yeah, that kind of stuff.
- 1:19:23Speaker 3: But I always thought that with the cowboy movies too.
- 1:19:26Speaker 3: I was like, they're always wearing like six layers and leather.
- 1:19:28Speaker 3: And I mean, the hat's at least to keep the
- 1:19:30Speaker 3: sun off your face, but like the rest of it's
- 1:19:32Speaker 3: just too hot. I love it.
- 1:19:34Speaker 6: Those cowboys always find some girl and it's like. You
- 1:19:37Speaker 6: haven't taken a shower in this.
- 1:19:38Speaker 11: Whole movie, man.
- 1:19:39Speaker 3: Can you imagine?
- 1:19:40Speaker 7: It's so ripe.
- 1:19:41Speaker 3: Yeah, the leather chap smell coming off of you. You
- 1:19:44Speaker 3: just got several people. They were shooting at you.
- 1:19:47Speaker 6: You're bleeding.
- 1:19:48Speaker 3: Yeah, I was like, I don't understand how people ever
- 1:19:52Speaker 3: got laid in the Old West. So good luck to
- 1:19:54Speaker 3: any of you if you decide to wear a pith helmet,
- 1:19:57Speaker 3: become a cowboy, or move to the Old West. Any
- 1:20:00Speaker 3: of those things. Or possibly all. Maybe you're the weird
- 1:20:03Speaker 3: cowboy that wears a pith helmet because how cool would
- 1:20:05Speaker 3: that be? A black one. You could be the villain.
- 1:20:08Speaker 3: Oh man, this is coming together nicely. I'm going to
- 1:20:13Speaker 3: start writing the screenplay now. I don't know what the
- 1:20:15Speaker 3: hell this is going to be, but.
- 1:20:16Speaker 7: You're going to screen it at Wonderfest.
- 1:20:18Speaker 3: They're going to be like, please no. Please no.
- 1:20:21Speaker 6: We'll start a sitcom and I'll get Mike Tyson in
- 1:20:22Speaker 6: it and we'll call it Pithfall.
- 1:20:24Speaker 3: Hey, it's time to wrap things up here at the
- 1:20:28Speaker 3: old Wonderfest.
- 1:20:30Speaker 6: I'll be here all night.
- 1:20:31Speaker 3: Thanks for joining us. Yep. Come be part of the magic. Otherwise,
- 1:20:38Speaker 3: that about does it. We will return next time. Same
- 1:20:40Speaker 3: geek feed. Thanks for listening.
- 1:20:42Speaker 9: Bye.
- 1:20:42Speaker 11: See ya.
- 1:20:59Speaker 8: Do something stupid like some dumbass.
- 1:21:37Speaker 2: Now we've really done it, it's the end of the
- 1:21:46Speaker 2: world Cause I can't.
- 1:21:47Speaker 3: We.
- 1:21:54Speaker 8: Were warned Tonight we're going out, going out like the
- 1:21:56Speaker 8: dinosaur I hope heaven's gonna let you in, but you're
- 1:21:57Speaker 8: gone Now we know that we're all going to good.
- 1:22:57Speaker 8: Better run, better run.
- 1:23:01Speaker 2: Come with me.
- 1:23:02Speaker 13: Now we're free.
- 1:23:03Speaker 2: Let's all just push the ending.
- 1:23:06Speaker 16: I guess we were once.
- 1:23:07Speaker 3: Now we're going out, going out like a dinosaur.
- 1:23:10Speaker 2: I guess we were once. We're done and it's the
- 1:23:39Speaker 2: end of the world. So I think of my launch.
- 1:23:45Speaker 2: Now we're better off and we're done. Come with me.
- 1:23:50Speaker 2: Now we're free. Let's all just play the ending.
- 1:24:13Speaker 6: Where there were all these like female figures and they
- 1:24:15Speaker 6: were all kind of these, you know, like big breasted
- 1:24:18Speaker 6: superhero people.
- 1:24:19Speaker 7: Bimbos.
- 1:24:20Speaker 6: What's that?
- 1:24:21Speaker 3: Bimbos.
- 1:24:22Speaker 6: Not necessarily bimbos, but just like sexualized versions of heroes.
- 1:24:26Speaker 6: And then she was included and she's just like this
- 1:24:28Speaker 6: girl on a button up plaid shirt and pigtails.
- 1:24:30Speaker 3: I got pigtails. What do you want from me, man?
- 1:24:32Speaker 4: This episode is a production of Movie Meltdown, produced and
