- 0:00Speaker 1: Terah McDonald from two hundred Stab Wounds. We're about to
- 0:03Speaker 1: tour Australia with Dying Fetus.
- 0:05Speaker 2: Fantastic ray. Thanks for joining us today.
- 0:07Speaker 3: Brother, Yeah, man, happy to be here.
- 0:11Speaker 2: Yeah. As you say, two hundred Staborns hit Australia and
- 0:14Speaker 2: New Zealand in around a month for running shows with
- 0:16Speaker 2: Dying Fetus, starting in Auckland on December the fifth, before
- 0:19Speaker 2: hitting christ Church, Wellington, Adelaide, Hobart in Melbourne, Sydney and
- 0:23Speaker 2: finishing in Brisboane December fourt eighth. So it's not too
- 0:26Speaker 2: long now, brother, you're packed and ready to go.
- 0:29Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 0:30Speaker 1: Actually, you know, surprisingly I did pack ahead of time
- 0:33Speaker 1: because I know it's all summer and it's our winter,
- 0:36Speaker 1: so all the stuff that I was going to put
- 0:38Speaker 1: away for you know, the next year, I just put
- 0:40Speaker 1: in a bag ready to ready to come over there.
- 0:44Speaker 1: So yeah, I actually am packed and ready to go.
- 0:46Speaker 1: I'm very excited man.
- 0:48Speaker 2: Man, it's a pretty brutal run of shows mate. You
- 0:50Speaker 2: got eight gigs in ten days, Like, doesn't leave much
- 0:53Speaker 2: time to smell the roses while you're here.
- 0:56Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 0:57Speaker 1: I still hope we'll be able to see some like
- 0:59Speaker 1: cool Off and you get to have some fun.
- 1:02Speaker 3: But I mean it's still.
- 1:02Speaker 1: Gonna be awesome either way, like being able to go
- 1:05Speaker 1: over there and play for everybody.
- 1:06Speaker 3: So looking forward to it.
- 1:09Speaker 2: You know, this is gonna be your first time to
- 1:12Speaker 2: n to stray you mart So I guess the big
- 1:14Speaker 2: question is why have you neglected us for six bloody years?
- 1:20Speaker 3: Man?
- 1:20Speaker 1: Uh?
- 1:21Speaker 3: You know, just trying to get the offer right.
- 1:23Speaker 1: Our schedule's right, you know, you know, you know, flights
- 1:29Speaker 1: over there so long and expensive that we just got
- 1:32Speaker 1: to you know, make sure everything works out for us
- 1:34Speaker 1: and works out for y'all and stuff. And you know
- 1:38Speaker 1: when we got the offer for drying fetus is just
- 1:40Speaker 1: everything was perfect, perfect, you.
- 1:42Speaker 3: Know, lineup and yeah, it just worked out perfectly. Yes, Right.
- 1:46Speaker 2: So when you go to a deep place a like this, right, like,
- 1:48Speaker 2: do you do your research and talk to people that
- 1:50Speaker 2: are been here before to find out what to expect?
- 1:52Speaker 3: Though?
- 1:52Speaker 2: Would you rather just coming cold and saved me with
- 1:54Speaker 2: your best shot?
- 1:57Speaker 3: I think there's like a mixture of both.
- 1:59Speaker 1: I mean, we've always heard how awesome Australia is for
- 2:03Speaker 1: like heavy music and how crazy everybody goes, so that's
- 2:07Speaker 1: always nice, But as far as like anything other than that,
- 2:12Speaker 1: I think it's kind of cool to like just go
- 2:15Speaker 1: there and to see what happens.
- 2:17Speaker 3: Let everything be a new experience, because you know, you.
- 2:19Speaker 1: Can read a bunch of stuff and it's always gonna
- 2:21Speaker 1: be different for everybody, so it might as well just
- 2:23Speaker 1: get my own experience, you know, naturally.
- 2:26Speaker 2: Yeah, And I said the other side of that coin,
- 2:28Speaker 2: bro is, people over here got no idea what to
- 2:30Speaker 2: expect from you all this not necessarily typical two hundred
- 2:33Speaker 2: Stablings live show, and what we can expect.
- 2:37Speaker 1: Uh, you know, ripping songs like heavy groovy stuff, you know,
- 2:42Speaker 1: us drinking a couple of beers on stage, you know,
- 2:46Speaker 1: just having a good ass time, going out, hanging out
- 2:48Speaker 1: in the bar afterwards with everybody. You know, we like
- 2:52Speaker 1: meeting our fans, so we'll be hanging out everybody watching
- 2:57Speaker 1: Dying Fetus.
- 2:58Speaker 3: So it's gonna be awesome.
- 3:00Speaker 2: No, it's a pretty brutal double package with yourselves and
- 3:03Speaker 2: Dying feed It's like, have you toured with them before
- 3:05Speaker 2: or is this going to be your first time.
- 3:08Speaker 1: Yes, we've played with them before. We did a tour
- 3:10Speaker 1: with them in the US and it was just a
- 3:12Speaker 1: great time. You know, they're great dudes. Their teamer like
- 3:16Speaker 1: really great dudes, we all got along really well. So yeah,
- 3:20Speaker 1: like I said, when they hit us up, it was
- 3:21Speaker 1: pretty much like a no brainer to you know, do
- 3:24Speaker 1: it with them.
- 3:26Speaker 2: Just being on the road with another brutal band like
- 3:29Speaker 2: yourselves keep you on top of your game to an
- 3:31Speaker 2: extent because you know what they're going to bring every night,
- 3:33Speaker 2: so you've got to make sure that you don't lay
- 3:35Speaker 2: behind a little bit.
- 3:36Speaker 1: Yeah, Oh absolutely, I mean did the Legends. They're arguably
- 3:40Speaker 1: one of the heaviest pans, if not the heaviest ban ever.
- 3:43Speaker 3: So you know, watching them and knowing that we have to.
- 3:46Speaker 1: Set the stage for them every night, it makes us
- 3:48Speaker 1: definitely want to push our game up for sure.
- 3:51Speaker 2: And you want to stabbing Stebandi being a band for
- 3:54Speaker 2: about six years made but you've already built a global
- 3:56Speaker 2: fan base and you've been hit with acclade such as
- 3:59Speaker 2: death metal legend in waiting, like, well, what is it
- 4:02Speaker 2: about you guys? You do differently within the death metal
- 4:05Speaker 2: genre that makes you stand out.
- 4:09Speaker 1: We like are not afraid to add you know, you know,
- 4:14Speaker 1: different elements of different you know, genres into what we're doing.
- 4:19Speaker 3: You know, if it makes it heavy, you know, it
- 4:20Speaker 3: makes it flow. We'll do it. You know, we're not
- 4:24Speaker 3: willing or.
- 4:25Speaker 1: We're not afraid to like try new things. And I
- 4:27Speaker 1: think that like really speaks like volumes for like our music.
- 4:32Speaker 1: And you know it shows when you listen like to
- 4:35Speaker 1: the other bands that are coming around around the same time,
- 4:38Speaker 1: We're pretty different from all of them.
- 4:40Speaker 3: You know, we're all heavy, we're all you know, doing
- 4:42Speaker 3: our own thing.
- 4:43Speaker 1: But I think we stand out because of that, like
- 4:45Speaker 1: you know, putting clean guitars, putting you know, melodies, all
- 4:50Speaker 1: that kind of stuff. It really uh, you know, I
- 4:52Speaker 1: think it makes as stand out a little bit.
- 4:54Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 4:55Speaker 2: So far, you've released two albums, with the most recent
- 4:57Speaker 2: being Manual Manic Procedures in twenty twenty four. Mate, So
- 5:01Speaker 2: how was it sound great and developed from your debut
- 5:04Speaker 2: Slave in the Scalpel in twenty twenty one through the
- 5:06Speaker 2: Manual Money Procedures.
- 5:09Speaker 1: Yeah, like adding like I said, like new elements of uh,
- 5:13Speaker 1: you know, clean guitars, you know, trying different vocal styles out,
- 5:18Speaker 1: trying different themes on lyrics and stuff that kind of
- 5:22Speaker 1: like really uh it was like experimented with on that album.
- 5:28Speaker 1: There's an instrumental song even on you know on manual
- 5:33Speaker 1: that there wasn't on before.
- 5:34Speaker 2: So do you think it's a sort of band that
- 5:38Speaker 2: you're gonna keep experimenting the whole time? Or are you
- 5:40Speaker 2: gonna do you reckon? You'll find your sound and sort
- 5:43Speaker 2: of stick to that and just go a little bit
- 5:44Speaker 2: outside of it eventually.
- 5:47Speaker 3: You know. I guess time will only tell.
- 5:49Speaker 1: I mean this next time, we're definitely gonna be experimenting
- 5:53Speaker 1: again with like new stuff, trying new stuff out, see
- 5:55Speaker 1: how it goes.
- 5:58Speaker 3: I guess.
- 5:59Speaker 1: I mean, if we get to a point where we,
- 6:01Speaker 1: you know, have a formula that we like, are really
- 6:04Speaker 1: happy with, will probably stick to it.
- 6:06Speaker 3: But I think it's always.
- 6:09Speaker 1: Basically regressed as a band and always try anythings as.
- 6:17Speaker 3: To the band, you know what I mean?
- 6:20Speaker 2: Yeah, you mentioned trying different things, like you're playing guitars
- 6:23Speaker 2: and stuff like that that isn't often done in the
- 6:24Speaker 2: death metal genres. Things like that, like you actually sit
- 6:28Speaker 2: down as a band and try and come up with
- 6:30Speaker 2: ideas that are a bit different or does that sort
- 6:32Speaker 2: of something more naturally comes when you're just messing about
- 6:34Speaker 2: and you you stumble onto something.
- 6:38Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, it's just more like something personally for me,
- 6:41Speaker 1: it's like just stumbling upon something. If I am just
- 6:45Speaker 1: like given an acoustic guitar, be like, man, this would
- 6:48Speaker 1: kind of be like a sick intro or like, uh,
- 6:52Speaker 1: you know, messing around with like different chords and stuff,
- 6:55Speaker 1: being like this would be kind of cool. Like even
- 6:56Speaker 1: with effects like reverb and delay, you know, reverse delays
- 7:01Speaker 1: and all that kind of stuff.
- 7:03Speaker 3: It's kind of cool.
- 7:04Speaker 1: Even adding harmonies, like three part harmonies all that kind
- 7:07Speaker 1: of stuff. Yeah, just messing around and being like, yeah,
- 7:11Speaker 1: if this could like make you know, uh, make it unique,
- 7:17Speaker 1: you know, and it really adds something.
- 7:20Speaker 3: To the song. I think it's cool to do that.
- 7:21Speaker 1: But yeah, usually just messing around is the best way
- 7:24Speaker 1: I think to figure out uh those experimental type things.
- 7:28Speaker 2: Yes, right now, before I let you go, bro, well,
- 7:30Speaker 2: I've got a new segment I've started called Fighter Bombs.
- 7:33Speaker 2: So basically I'll trowl three SoC for media before you
- 7:35Speaker 2: bet a chatting, I've bound some fighters I want to
- 7:37Speaker 2: know a little bit more about. So you guys are
- 7:40Speaker 2: gonna see firsthand pretty soon the bands of this tride.
- 7:43Speaker 2: You don't do anywhere near as much traveling as you guys,
- 7:46Speaker 2: but this looks like a palace to us. Man, like,
- 7:49Speaker 2: what the hell is that?
- 7:50Speaker 1: That's oh yeah, the uh okay, I'll tell you what.
- 7:57Speaker 3: I'll tell you what.
- 7:58Speaker 1: When I first saw that, I was like, this is
- 8:00Speaker 1: the coolest thing ever. Right, it looks super luxurious, and
- 8:06Speaker 1: let me tell you what that thing Okay, with a
- 8:09Speaker 1: little context, there's about gonna be twenty eight people on
- 8:12Speaker 1: that bus.
- 8:13Speaker 2: Wow.
- 8:15Speaker 3: So that all four.
- 8:15Speaker 1: Bands, all the crew, we were all gonna be on there, right,
- 8:19Speaker 1: And of course, like you hear like, oh, you know,
- 8:23Speaker 1: you guys are gonna do a bus here.
- 8:24Speaker 3: You're gonna be on a bus. It's gonna be awesome.
- 8:26Speaker 1: You get a driver, you don't have to drive yourself, you know,
- 8:28Speaker 1: a bathroom whatever. We're thinking, Oh my god, we're like,
- 8:33Speaker 1: we're like Slayer. This is gonna be incredible. You get
- 8:37Speaker 1: on the bus. It is not as luxurious as you
- 8:39Speaker 1: think it is. It's you know, that's actually a double decker.
- 8:43Speaker 1: So it's like two or two floors and each one
- 8:49Speaker 1: is like, so I'm six two, so I'm a.
- 8:50Speaker 3: Really all guy. I had to like really really flat
- 8:54Speaker 3: in there to get around, and I was gonna kind
- 8:57Speaker 3: of claustrophobic.
- 8:58Speaker 1: But I mean it's still awesome, don't get me wrong.
- 9:01Speaker 1: What a tour and a bus and stuff. But I mean, yeah,
- 9:05Speaker 1: from the outside, it looks a lot.
- 9:08Speaker 3: Yeah, it's kind of scary, especially if you got twenty
- 9:11Speaker 3: eight people.
- 9:11Speaker 2: Yeah, twenty eight people and that's like fourteen per level.
- 9:16Speaker 2: It's ridiculous. Yeah, it's crazy, crazy and I failed one
- 9:21Speaker 2: more Ato Bright Like, I'm not judging at all, but
- 9:24Speaker 2: this is a whole little awesome No's you want pink Box.
- 9:28Speaker 1: Yeah, we went to uh, we were walking around. We
- 9:31Speaker 1: had often in New York, so we went to Fao Shorts,
- 9:37Speaker 1: the toy store that was in like Home Alone and stuff,
- 9:40Speaker 1: and yeah, they had a huge barbie section.
- 9:44Speaker 3: It was funny and we found that we're like used,
- 9:46Speaker 3: let's be some barbies.
