- 0:00Hey everyone, happy Tuesday this is friendly.
- 0:04Back with y'all on in the stillness.
- 0:07Also, happy Cinco de Mayo to all who celebrate.
- 0:11I don't know what your week started off as yesterday.
- 0:14I hope that it started off fresh and strong.
- 0:18Maybe it's been productive, maybe it's been a little busy
- 0:21and chaotic, but wherever you are at, I just want this to be a
- 0:26space where you can slow down and actually receive a word and
- 0:31encouragement from the Lord. If we're being honest, I think a
- 0:36lot of us can get caught up in a mindset of trying to figure out
- 0:41how God feels about us. Like asking yourself, am I doing
- 0:46enough? Is God pleased with me?
- 0:48Have I messed things up? And it can gravitate towards a
- 0:52guessing game. But what I want y'all to hear is
- 0:57God's heart is not confusion, it is confidence.
- 1:01He wants you to be fully confident in His love today.
- 1:06So with that, let's go ahead and jump into the scripture that
- 1:10we're going to be in first John chapter 4, verses 17 to 18.
- 1:16It says by living in God, love has been brought to its full
- 1:21expression in us so that we may fearlessly face the day of
- 1:27judgment. Because all that Jesus now is,
- 1:31so are we in this world. Love never brings fear, for fear
- 1:37is always related to punishment. But Love's perfection drives the
- 1:43fear of punishment far from our hearts.
- 1:46Whoever walks constantly afraid of punishment has not reached
- 1:51Love's perfection. OK, so much to go through here,
- 1:58but I do want to start with this.
- 2:00God's truest desire is for you to have complete confidence in
- 2:05His love. Not partially, not occasionally,
- 2:09not just when you feel like you're doing good, but full
- 2:14complete confidence. God does not have a hidden
- 2:18agenda. There are no strings attached to
- 2:21His love. He is not loving you to get
- 2:24something from you guys. He does not need us.
- 2:30He is after your heart. He wants you to live as his
- 2:35fully known and fully loved. And what's powerful is that this
- 2:41kind of confidence does not come from trying harder.
- 2:45It comes through a relationship. It says by living in God that
- 2:52communicates intimacy, abiding. That is you in Christ and Christ
- 2:58in you, and that is what actually completes his love in
- 3:02you. Now verse 17 is pretty wild.
- 3:07It says because all that Jesus now is, so are we in this world.
- 3:13That verb is present tense. So it's not just how Jesus was
- 3:19when He walked the earth 2000 years ago, but how He is right
- 3:23now. He is righteous, He is pure, He
- 3:28is holy, He has been glorified, and He is seated currently in
- 3:34heaven on the throne beside His Father and fully accepted.
- 3:41Colossians 3 verse one through 4 talks about how our life is
- 3:46hidden with Christ and God. In Ephesians 2 verse 6 says that
- 3:51we are seated with Him in the heavenly realms.
- 3:55Romans 8 verse 30 even reminds us what God starts, He finishes
- 4:00and we are justified, so we are glorified in Him.
- 4:06It is by faith, by faith alone that the righteousness of Jesus
- 4:11Christ has been transferred over to you.
- 4:15So if you are a believer, if you declare Jesus Christ as Lord and
- 4:20Savior of your life, that same love that the Father has placed
- 4:26on His Son, He has for you the same favor, the same delight.
- 4:33He sees you through the same lens.
- 4:36And because of that, listen to Ephesians 3, verse 12 In Him and
- 4:43through faith in Him, we may approach God with freedom and
- 4:47with confidence. So that communicates.
- 4:53You don't have to hesitate. You don't have to clean yourself
- 4:56up first and be perfect. You have access to God right
- 5:01now. Now I also want to talk about
- 5:04the day of judgment. Scripture is clear that there is
- 5:09a day coming where all will stand before Christ and give
- 5:13account for our lives. We will be held responsible.
- 5:18First Timothy 5 verse 25 reminds us that not just bad things, but
- 5:24also good things will be revealed and the Lord is going
- 5:28to bring everything into the light.
- 5:31But if you are in Christ, this day is not something to fear.
- 5:35It's not something to dread. It is something that you can
- 5:39look forward to with expectancy and with hope.
- 5:43It is the end of evil's reign, the end of sin.
- 5:48It is the beginning of seeing Jesus face to face.
- 5:53What we have known in the Spirit is actually going to become
- 5:57physical in the flesh. So I just want to ask ourselves
- 6:02honestly, is there anything in your life right now that might
- 6:07would make you want to shrink back before God?
- 6:11Is there any unconfessed sin, maybe sin that you are managing,
- 6:17something that you're holding onto and waiting to let go of
- 6:20until later? That is a really slippery slope
- 6:24guys, because we do not know when Jesus is coming back or
- 6:29when God is going to call us home.
- 6:33Psalm 139 is this beautiful prayer and it says, search me, O
- 6:39God, know my heart. And I think this is a charge for
- 6:44us, a great reminder for us to ask God to search our hearts and
- 6:51to reveal any wayward way in us any sin that we are trying to
- 6:57control or leave unaddressed. God is not asking for our
- 7:04perfection. He is simply asking for
- 7:07surrender. And I also want to talk about
- 7:11the fear of the Lord, because it matters.
- 7:14The fear of the Lord is not being scared of Him.
- 7:18For so long in my life I think I had this misconceived perception
- 7:24of what the fear of the Lord was.
- 7:29But it is really just being in awe of Him, so in awe and wonder
- 7:35of His Holiness, of His beauty, of His splendor and majesty,
- 7:40that you have this desire to honor Him because you see Him
- 7:44rightly. But fearful love, that is the
- 7:48lie. That is the voice that says God
- 7:52is probably mad at me. He's probably disappointed
- 7:55again. And that's what can keep you
- 7:58distant. Yes, it is true that God
- 8:02disciplines those He loves. Hebrews 12 verse 6 says that
- 8:07that he rebukes us, but it is never to shame you.
- 8:11It is not to place you in condemnation.
- 8:15It's always to propel you into freedom because everything that
- 8:19the Lord does is rooted in love. God is love.
- 8:24Remember that. He is perfect love.
- 8:28And I want y'all to really hear this.
- 8:31Let Romans 8 verse 38 to 39 just speak to your heart right now.
- 8:36It says, For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither
- 8:42angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any
- 8:48powers, neither height nor depth nor anything else in all
- 8:54creation will be able to separate us from the love of God
- 8:59that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
- 9:03Guys, nothing, you did not earn his love, so you could not lose
- 9:09his love. I was in church this Sunday and
- 9:14we were singing an older song and it says tis so sweet to
- 9:18trust in Jesus, how I've proved him or, and or and that is so
- 9:25real because it is saying that his love is reliable.
- 9:31In the verse that we read yesterday in the podcast says
- 9:35that we know and rely on God's love and the word reliable, that
- 9:42does not coexist with the word fear because reliable means that
- 9:47it produces trust. So let this fear your reminder
- 9:53that we are to rely on God's love, to lean into it, and to
- 9:57let His perfect love drive out every single fear.
- 10:04I want to go into a few questions for y'all before I
- 10:06close out in prayer. First of all, are you living
- 10:10like God's love is something that you have to earn, or
- 10:13something that you already have and that you get to receive?
- 10:192 Is there anything in your life that you need to bring into the
- 10:23light instead of managing in the dark?
- 10:273 When you approach God, do you come with confidence?
- 10:33Or is it with hesitation? Is it with timidity?
- 10:39His invitation is clear. We are to live fully loved and
- 10:45to walk fully confident in that love.
- 10:49So let's go ahead and close out in prayer.
- 10:54Dear God, your love is unlike anything anything else in this
- 11:03world. It is constant, it is secure, it
- 11:09is unshakable. Thank You that it is
- 11:12immeasurable and that there is constantly more and more to
- 11:16discover about your love. We thank You that it is through
- 11:22Jesus your Son that we have full access to You, freedom and
- 11:27confidence to come close and draw near to you.
- 11:30God, I pray that you would quiet every single fear that tells us
- 11:37to pull away instead of drawing deeper into trust.
- 11:43Would you search our hearts? Know us Lord, lead us in Your
- 11:47truth and give us grace to surrender anything and
- 11:51everything that we have been holding onto.
- 11:55I pray that Your perfect love would just reshape and mold us
- 12:02into how we see You and how we come to You.
- 12:06May we fully rely on You. We place our trust in You for
- 12:11everything that we face and encounter today.
- 12:13Lord, I pray that we would take it step by step and walk by
- 12:18faith, not by sight. We pray this in your precious
- 12:22name, Jesus. Amen.
- 12:25OK guys. Well that is where I'm going to
- 12:27end today's podcast episode. I hope you all have a great rest
- 12:31of your Tuesday and I'm looking forward to seeing y'all on the
- 12:34next one.
