- 0:02Speaker 1: Oh, part of part of my language, man, But damn,
- 0:22Speaker 1: excuse me, part of me. Sorry tonight. I don't just
- 0:29Speaker 1: step into the hall of fame. I carry with me
- 0:33Speaker 1: the echoes of every voice that ever.
- 0:35Speaker 2: Told me I couldn't.
- 0:37Speaker 1: I walk with the shadows of every alley, every crack court,
- 0:42Speaker 1: every empty plate. I stand for the dreamers to doubt it,
- 0:48Speaker 1: the dismissed, for every soul still trapped into places I
- 0:52Speaker 1: broke free from. From Red Hook to Murder Avenue. We
- 1:00Speaker 1: didn't grow up with guarantees.
- 1:03Speaker 2: We grew up with grit.
- 1:05Speaker 1: We didn't have much, but we had dreams, and if
- 1:08Speaker 1: you were lucky, you had someone telling you not to
- 1:10Speaker 1: give up on them. But more often what we heard
- 1:14Speaker 1: was if that ain't for you, don't aim too high, Mello,
- 1:19Speaker 1: stand your lane. Well, I had to build a new road.
- 1:24Speaker 1: I had to write a different ending. See, when you
- 1:28Speaker 1: grow up in the shadows, you have to get swallowed bottom,
- 1:32Speaker 1: or you learn how to shine a way. To every
- 1:35Speaker 1: kid watching, I want you to hear me loud. You
- 1:39Speaker 1: are not your zip code, You are not your last name.
- 1:43Speaker 1: You are not your setbacks. You are your vision, You
- 1:48Speaker 1: are your work ethic, You are your will, You are
- 1:51Speaker 1: the quiet whispmin' sizery that says I know there's more
- 1:55Speaker 1: for me in his life.
- 1:56Speaker 2: Hold on to that voice. It would be tested. The
- 2:01Speaker 2: dogs is barking. Dogs is barking. The dogs is barking. Yeah,
- 2:10Speaker 2: dogs is balking. Yeah Yeah.
- 2:16Speaker 1: They would tell you it's foolish. They would laugh at
- 2:19Speaker 1: your belief. But let me tell you they laughed at
- 2:23Speaker 1: me too. To my father, here's what it is coming.
- 2:34Speaker 2: We go, We God, We good.
- 2:37Speaker 1: To my father, Carmelo, idiot, vote equal. You left this
- 2:47Speaker 1: world too soon, but you never left me. Your name
- 2:51Speaker 1: is my name. Your spirit walks with me and every
- 2:55Speaker 1: step I take. You were a poet, an activist, a
- 3:01Speaker 1: You taught me without even knowing that words matter, that
- 3:05Speaker 1: vision matters, even in your absence.
- 3:08Speaker 2: You gave me strength in the silence. You gave me purpose.
- 3:12Speaker 1: And though I didn't get to grow with you, I
- 3:15Speaker 1: grew because of you. You gave me the first example
- 3:18Speaker 1: of what it means to carry fire and still speak
- 3:21Speaker 1: with grace. Your blood runs in mind, Your dream lives
- 3:26Speaker 1: through me. This Hall of fame jacket that I receive,
- 3:30Speaker 1: I'm not wearing it tonight.
- 3:33Speaker 2: I wear for the both of us.
- 3:35Speaker 1: To my sister, Michelle Anthony, you have been my protector,
- 3:40Speaker 1: my voice of reason.
- 3:42Speaker 2: My ach in every storm in this world.
- 3:45Speaker 1: Sometimes you just need one person to see you before
- 3:48Speaker 1: anyone else does. You With that person, you believed in
- 3:52Speaker 1: me when I didn't even know how to believe in myself.
- 3:55Speaker 1: You loved me without conditions, and you held this family
- 3:59Speaker 1: together with strength, and no statue can measure. You are
- 4:03Speaker 1: Hall of fame in every sense of the word. Sis
- 4:05Speaker 1: dishonor is yours too? So Puerto Rico my blood, my soul,
- 4:18Speaker 1: my heart. I carried the flag in my heart. I
- 4:22Speaker 1: carried the island in my veins. When I wore those
- 4:26Speaker 1: colors on my chest, I wasn't just playing basketball. I
- 4:29Speaker 1: was honoring the heritage. I was honoring my father. I
- 4:34Speaker 1: was honoring every Puerto Rican who's ever had to fight
- 4:36Speaker 1: twice as hard to get as far. Puerto Rico. You
- 4:43Speaker 1: gave me fire, you gave me soul, you gave me home.
- 4:47Speaker 1: Were all proud, we y'all powerful, were y'all present. This
- 4:51Speaker 1: Hall of Fame moment belongs to the island. It belongs
- 4:54Speaker 1: to us, to my brothers, Justin Wolf, my real ones,
- 5:06Speaker 1: my ale likes who helped me down when the world
- 5:09Speaker 1: turned its back, when the critics got loud, you got
- 5:13Speaker 1: louder with your love.
- 5:15Speaker 2: You reminded me who I was.
- 5:17Speaker 1: Every text, every call, every last we made a chance
- 5:24Speaker 1: to every father. And this is important, every man listening.
- 5:29Speaker 1: You are more than your mistakes. You are more than
- 5:32Speaker 1: what this world has to reduce you to. Being present,
- 5:36Speaker 1: being real, being vulnerable, that strength raising children in this
- 5:44Speaker 1: world is revolutionary. I didn't just want to be a
- 5:48Speaker 1: basketball player. I wanted to be a model of redemption,
- 5:52Speaker 1: of accountability, of love.
- 5:55Speaker 2: My kids saved me.
- 6:00Speaker 1: They gave me a reason to move past ego, past noise,
- 6:11Speaker 1: past criticism. That reminded me that legacy isn't what you
- 6:15Speaker 1: leave behind, that's what you lift up. To every woman
- 6:20Speaker 1: who's held us together, I owe everything to the strength
- 6:24Speaker 1: of woman, to the woman who raised us, who loved
- 6:27Speaker 1: us through our mistakes, who who believed in us before
- 6:30Speaker 1: the world saw our potential.
- 6:32Speaker 2: I stand here because of you. To the single.
- 6:35Speaker 1: Mothers pulling double shifts, to the grandmothers who stepped in
- 6:39Speaker 1: with fathers couldn't, to the sisters who became second mothers.
- 6:44Speaker 2: You are the real MVPs.
- 6:54Speaker 1: You've held us up when the world tried to tear
- 6:56Speaker 1: us down. You spoken life into us when we were silent,
- 7:00Speaker 1: and you've shown us what it means to fight with
- 7:02Speaker 1: grace and leave with love to Mama, Love to my mother,
- 7:08Speaker 1: Mary Anthony. You taught me that love.
- 7:19Speaker 2: She crying, She crying, she crying.
- 7:22Speaker 1: You taught me that love is action, that sacrifice is quiet,
- 7:28Speaker 1: that faith is louder than fear. To every woman watching tonight,
- 7:34Speaker 1: this moment is yours too. You are not behind us,
- 7:37Speaker 1: You're not beside us. You're the reason we rise. You
- 7:41Speaker 1: don't just shape homes, you shape legacies. My mother was
- 7:45Speaker 1: the first one that showed me what sacrifice looks like.
- 7:48Speaker 1: No spotlight, no praise, just love, and it's purest form.
- 7:54Speaker 1: You're the reason I'm standing here.
- 7:55Speaker 2: Man. To sacrifice is.
- 8:07Speaker 1: The sacrifices you made, the tears you held back, the
- 8:10Speaker 1: strength you showed. I felt it every time I laced
- 8:13Speaker 1: out my sneakers. You all my hero, and now as
- 8:18Speaker 1: a man, I see how powerful that was.
- 8:21Speaker 2: That was Hall of fame worthy too.
- 8:24Speaker 1: I've been cheered, criticized. They called me a score who
- 8:29Speaker 1: couldn't win. They said I was too loyal, and they
- 8:33Speaker 1: said I wasn't loyal enoughing, But they didn't know what
- 8:37Speaker 1: it feels like. They carried away the whole cities to
- 8:40Speaker 1: lace up your sneakers while the world is dissecting your soul.
- 8:43Speaker 1: They never saw the lonely knights, the aching knees, the
- 8:46Speaker 1: silent battles. But I kept going, I kept shooting, and
- 8:51Speaker 1: I kept believing. Not because I had all the answers,
- 8:55Speaker 1: but because I had a wife. My wife was bigger
- 8:58Speaker 1: than me. My wow was every kid in the hood,
- 9:01Speaker 1: whoever thought greatness wasn't for them? My wile was my
- 9:06Speaker 1: son watching to see if his father would fold or
- 9:11Speaker 1: fight to my real ones, my real friends, Kenny, Munch, Draper,
- 9:20Speaker 1: Babe Tyler, you weren't just part of this journey.
- 9:24Speaker 2: You were my foundation.
- 9:26Speaker 1: When the cameras was off, when the critics was loud,
- 9:30Speaker 1: when the weight was heavy, you was there. You reminded
- 9:34Speaker 1: me who I was when the world trying to rewrite
- 9:36Speaker 1: my story. You gave me laughter in the darkest seasons.
- 9:40Speaker 1: You gave me silence when I needed peace. You gave
- 9:43Speaker 1: me honesty, love, loyalty when the world gave me noise.
- 9:50Speaker 1: Just honor belongs to us because without your presence, your truth,
- 9:55Speaker 1: your belief. But I don't get here. Y'all never chased
- 9:59Speaker 1: the spotlight. But I need the world to know you
- 10:02Speaker 1: were the light behind mine.
- 10:04Speaker 2: To Syracuse.
- 10:09Speaker 1: One year, one championship, one spark that changed everything. You
- 10:15Speaker 1: gave me my first shot at belief on the national stage,
- 10:18Speaker 1: and I gave you my whole heart. I know anybody
- 10:22Speaker 1: waiting on this next one. To the Denver Nuggets in
- 10:28Speaker 1: the city of Denver, you believed in me first. You
- 10:32Speaker 1: gave me a keys as a nineteen year old kid.
- 10:35Speaker 1: You let me grow, fall, fly, and become a man
- 10:39Speaker 1: standing here today. Denver was where I learned the weight
- 10:43Speaker 1: of the league, when I learned the value of sacrifice
- 10:47Speaker 1: and the beauty of team. To every fan who filled
- 10:50Speaker 1: the Pepsi Center, thank you to the Maha City. You'll
- 10:56Speaker 1: always be a part of my foundation.
- 11:03Speaker 2: So the New York Knicks.
- 11:09Speaker 1: In the city of New York, the mecca of basketball,
- 11:15Speaker 1: you gave me more than a jersey. You gave me
- 11:18Speaker 1: an identity. From the lights of Madison Square Garden to
- 11:22Speaker 1: the heartbeat of every barrel. I felt that energy. I
- 11:25Speaker 1: carried it, I became it. New York is not for
- 11:29Speaker 1: the fame of heart. It's pressure it's expectation, but it's
- 11:34Speaker 1: also pride, power, and poetry in motion. You show me
- 11:39Speaker 1: what it means to carry a city on your back,
- 11:41Speaker 1: with grace, with grit, and with love to the fans.
- 11:46Speaker 1: Your passion never waved even when things got tough. Your
- 11:49Speaker 1: fire lit up every corner of the garden, every chance,
- 11:53Speaker 1: every roar, every bull, every moment we felt it.
- 11:58Speaker 2: I felt it the KNIXT organization.
- 12:01Speaker 1: Thank you for believing in me, for trusting me to
- 12:04Speaker 1: represent that never the city that never sleeps, that never folds,
- 12:08Speaker 1: that never stops. I may have played around the league,
- 12:12Speaker 1: but my soul will always echo thirty thirty seven. Once
- 12:16Speaker 1: a knick, always a knick to the game of basketball.
- 12:22Speaker 1: You were my way out, but more than that, you
- 12:25Speaker 1: were my way in. You let me tell my story
- 12:28Speaker 1: without words. You let me cry through jumpers, shout through dunks,
- 12:33Speaker 1: dream through wins. You gave a kid from the projects
- 12:36Speaker 1: a passport to the world. You gave my pain purpose,
- 12:40Speaker 1: you gave my past the future. I never got an
- 12:44Speaker 1: NBA ring, and some will always define me by that.
- 12:48Speaker 1: But I know what I gave to this game, and
- 12:50Speaker 1: I know what this game gave back. Legacy isn't always
- 12:55Speaker 1: made in championships. Sometimes it's made inconsistency and refuse to
- 13:00Speaker 1: quit and showing up over and over again when no
- 13:04Speaker 1: one's clapping. I played the game with fire, with passion,
- 13:09Speaker 1: with love, with joy. I gave it everything I had
- 13:13Speaker 1: every single night to my children, Kanyee and Genesis.
- 13:22Speaker 3: Your father, Your father isn't perfect, but he is proof
- 13:28Speaker 3: proof that struggle doesn't mean surrender, proof that the road
- 13:32Speaker 3: can be rough and still lead to glory.
- 13:35Speaker 1: And so I say again to every child listening. They
- 13:38Speaker 1: will tell you to be realistic. I say, be relentless.
- 13:42Speaker 1: They will say you're dreaming too big. I say, dream louder.
- 13:46Speaker 1: They will try to label you, box you in, count
- 13:49Speaker 1: you out. But remember, statistics don't measure heart. They don't
- 13:54Speaker 1: account for fight. They don't see the storm that built you.
- 13:58Speaker 1: You were made for more. You are more than possible,
- 14:02Speaker 1: You are inevitable. Tonight I'll take my place in the
- 14:06Speaker 1: Hall of fame. But the real honor, the real honor,
- 14:12Speaker 1: it's knowing I never walked along.
- 14:14Speaker 2: You walk with me. My story. It is your story.
- 14:19Speaker 1: So when they ask you where the greatness come from,
- 14:22Speaker 1: tell them it starts in the dirt. It starts in
- 14:24Speaker 1: the dark. It starts with a whisper that says, I
- 14:28Speaker 1: will not be denied. Thank you, Thank you for believing
- 14:32Speaker 1: in me, thank you for walking with me. We're in
- 14:36Speaker 1: the whole now chat and we just getting started. When
- 14:40Speaker 1: in doubt, stay mellow face as a
