- 0:00Speaker 1: He's with me again. He said, you know what, I'm
- 0:02Speaker 1: going to come into the studio this time. I appreciate that.
- 0:05Speaker 2: Hello sir, what's going on?
- 0:07Speaker 3: Greg?
- 0:08Speaker 4: Just happy to be on without any you know, phone
- 0:10Speaker 4: difficult to okay, you're outside of stadium with seven thousand people.
- 0:14Speaker 3: I get it, I get it.
- 0:16Speaker 1: What'd you think of the match? You almost nailed another prediction.
- 0:19Speaker 1: You had predicted, if I'm not mistaken, you had predicted
- 0:23Speaker 1: three nail in the first that is correct, and it
- 0:25Speaker 1: was two nothing in the first half. You almost had
- 0:28Speaker 1: the Paraguay score which was three to one and NDPN
- 0:30Speaker 1: four to one. What has you thinking these guys are
- 0:33Speaker 1: going to boat race teams and they're boat racing them
- 0:35Speaker 1: so far.
- 0:36Speaker 4: Well, first of all, thank you for having me, Greg
- 0:38Speaker 4: love Kjar in the audience and excited to talk about,
- 0:41Speaker 4: of course the World Cup and this US Miss national
- 0:44Speaker 4: team that has everybody dreaming or you know, at least me,
- 0:49Speaker 4: really high on this team. And I think what I
- 0:51Speaker 4: like about this group of players is how how galvanized,
- 0:55Speaker 4: you know, how cemented they have grown through criticism, through
- 0:59Speaker 4: ups and downs. I thought, I think that Maurice Bochettino
- 1:03Speaker 4: has really stamped this defiant way about the.
- 1:08Speaker 2: Team and it's showing right. Look against Australia.
- 1:13Speaker 4: My biggest takeaway is that you didn't just see a
- 1:17Speaker 4: team that outperformed, outplayed the opposition. They imposed their will
- 1:24Speaker 4: and they bit them into submission. They beat them into
- 1:26Speaker 4: submission completely. I mean, this performance was different, right, It
- 1:30Speaker 4: wasn't like the first game. It wasn't He didn't have
- 1:33Speaker 4: maybe the dynamosum, the finesse, the top shelf finish, but
- 1:38Speaker 4: he had this grit and this almost bully like attitude
- 1:44Speaker 4: that for the majority of that game really had Australia
- 1:47Speaker 4: without any answer. So having a team that can shift
- 1:52Speaker 4: into that gear, to me, was just as impressive as
- 1:56Speaker 4: that first game against Paraguay.
- 1:57Speaker 1: Because it was a different way to win. You're showing
- 2:00Speaker 1: multiple and how much of that is from Pochettino.
- 2:04Speaker 2: I think it's all of it is Pochettino.
- 2:06Speaker 4: I mean the way he almost played with us, with
- 2:10Speaker 4: the whole politic thing, kind of just dangling him in
- 2:12Speaker 4: front and he's he gonna plays, He's not gonna play.
- 2:14Speaker 4: When we talked to Balligan, he's something like that was
- 2:18Speaker 4: just how they were gonna approach this game, right, Playing
- 2:20Speaker 4: with two strikers was gonna occupy the spaces of that
- 2:24Speaker 4: three or five men back line to really open him up,
- 2:28Speaker 4: and you just completely wore down some big, strong center
- 2:34Speaker 4: backs with a lot of experience. A guy like Sutter,
- 2:37Speaker 4: he was basically a no show and the team right,
- 2:43Speaker 4: the first goal is a is an own goal.
- 2:45Speaker 2: But you got to create those moments.
- 2:47Speaker 4: You gotta be able to attack space like Ricardo Peppy did.
- 2:51Speaker 4: You gotta be able to have a guy like Balligin
- 2:53Speaker 4: that goes from that secondary forward position and then gets
- 2:57Speaker 4: wide and picks up the ball there and he's stretching
- 3:00Speaker 4: out the defense and gets to the end line and
- 3:02Speaker 4: waits as long as he did to make sure that
- 3:04Speaker 4: that pass got through and pass the goalkeeper. So all
- 3:08Speaker 4: of those things, I think it's completely about Puschatino saying, look,
- 3:13Speaker 4: we can play this way, but we could also play
- 3:16Speaker 4: with two strikers. And I think I told you this
- 3:19Speaker 4: for your more football like audience. This was their eye formation.
- 3:25Speaker 4: There's strong package. This was the way that they were
- 3:27Speaker 4: going to play teams. When is it got to be
- 3:30Speaker 4: physical and you got to have different ways of playing sometimes.
- 3:33Speaker 1: Okay, so they've played, like you said, the grit rugged
- 3:36Speaker 1: way they played the finesse, free flowing way to beat Paraguay.
- 3:41Speaker 1: The next match Turkey not as much import as now
- 3:43Speaker 1: they're already through. What type of game will they have
- 3:45Speaker 1: to play to play to beat Turkey who was a
- 3:47Speaker 1: favorite to advance by a lot of people, and have
- 3:50Speaker 1: really disappointed. And then going in and you look forward
- 3:53Speaker 1: to the round of thirty two, in the round of sixteen,
- 3:55Speaker 1: the potential opponents, they're Belgium's out there, Croatia's out there
- 4:00Speaker 1: potentially in the round of thirty two, what kind of
- 4:02Speaker 1: style would best fitters Pochattino have to pull another rabbit
- 4:06Speaker 1: out of his hat and play and change how they
- 4:08Speaker 1: play against those teams.
- 4:09Speaker 4: Look first this third game right against Ukia, I think
- 4:13Speaker 4: that you got to possess the ball. You gotta beat
- 4:16Speaker 4: him at their own game. But it's gonna be, if
- 4:20Speaker 4: not different. You're gonna see some substitutions. You're gonna have
- 4:24Speaker 4: to rotate some things right, And it's a little bit
- 4:26Speaker 4: difficult because with this new format you have a long
- 4:30Speaker 4: time before the next game. But you have three key
- 4:33Speaker 4: players with yellow cards. You got Chris Richards, you got
- 4:36Speaker 4: Tyler Adams and Jedi Robinson. You do not want any
- 4:40Speaker 4: of those guys get in another yellow and being unavailable
- 4:43Speaker 4: for that knockout stage.
- 4:45Speaker 1: Right, So for those just learning the game, two yellows
- 4:48Speaker 1: and consecutive games or in the group stage, I should
- 4:50Speaker 1: say results in a red and then he won't be
- 4:53Speaker 1: well read essentially for the next game and that he
- 4:55Speaker 1: can't play.
- 4:56Speaker 4: Yeah, is a yellow card accumulation, right, Yeah, so they
- 4:58Speaker 4: wouldn't be unavailable for the next stage.
- 5:00Speaker 2: So I think that you might have to almost settle,
- 5:05Speaker 2: for lack of a better words word.
- 5:07Speaker 4: Into just having a team that is good on the ball,
- 5:11Speaker 4: that is going to be able to get a result.
- 5:13Speaker 2: And maybe you don't get three goals in this one because.
- 5:15Speaker 3: I mean Tim Waya plays.
- 5:16Speaker 1: Does that mean that Christian Rodan makes his first appearance
- 5:19Speaker 1: on Thursday?
- 5:20Speaker 2: Absolutely? I think the team.
- 5:21Speaker 4: Way is a guy that he's been waiting to get
- 5:24Speaker 4: his chance, and he's a guy that is athletic and
- 5:27Speaker 4: it's dangerous on the ball, and he's shifty and he's
- 5:30Speaker 4: goal dangerous. So he's a guy that I would absolutely
- 5:33Speaker 4: put in this game. Christian roll Dan, he has not
- 5:36Speaker 4: been a part of any of these games. So to me,
- 5:38Speaker 4: Tyler Adams needs to be rotated. You know, we talked
- 5:43Speaker 4: to him after the game and he happens to want
- 5:45Speaker 4: to play right, and that's that's normal. But Buttino has
- 5:48Speaker 4: to protect him from himself one and he's got to
- 5:50Speaker 4: think about the collective. So Christian role Dan is the
- 5:53Speaker 4: like for like player. He's the only other six or
- 5:55Speaker 4: defensive midfielder. The will the other holding mid in this rotation.
- 5:59Speaker 4: So yeah, I think that that is a chance for
- 6:01Speaker 4: Christian Row to start this game, maybe next door guy
- 6:04Speaker 4: like Tilman to give you a little bit of d
- 6:06Speaker 4: diverse attack and a guy that is more of a
- 6:09Speaker 4: box to box and you allow Christian world down to
- 6:12Speaker 4: just settle in and be a six and be a
- 6:13Speaker 4: holding guy. So yes, I think that those guys have
- 6:16Speaker 4: to be in now. Chris Richard's a more difficult situation
- 6:19Speaker 4: because he has been your anchor in that back end, right.
- 6:22Speaker 4: He is the guy that distributes, he's the guy that
- 6:24Speaker 4: wins all of the duels. He led the team in
- 6:26Speaker 4: defensive contributions and clearances. So he is a guy that
- 6:30Speaker 4: you're going to have to figure out. Can I add
- 6:31Speaker 4: a guy like Mark McKenzie in there? Can I put
- 6:34Speaker 4: a Mouse Robinson who has been he's now my favorite,
- 6:37Speaker 4: and he has been pretty shaky. Those are the question
- 6:39Speaker 4: marks for this upcoming game where I think the quality
- 6:42Speaker 4: might drop a little bit, and I just want to
- 6:44Speaker 4: make sure that the audience knows, however, that is thinking
- 6:48Speaker 4: of a bigger goal, That is thinking of a USMST
- 6:51Speaker 4: national team that everyone should be excited about because they
- 6:54Speaker 4: can get as far as the semi finals for all.
- 6:56Speaker 2: I'm concerned. People were calling me crazy and.
- 6:59Speaker 4: They're like, no, this team is not that good. Da
- 7:01Speaker 4: da da da Where they are? I mean, now, what
- 7:03Speaker 4: Slawtin says, can they make it? And he said yes?
- 7:06Speaker 4: And now I was like, oh, man, slat inside it right,
- 7:09Speaker 4: But that is what it is. I do think that
- 7:11Speaker 4: this team is thinking beyond this third game. I think
- 7:14Speaker 4: that they have the depth to play against the Turkia
- 7:18Speaker 4: team that has been not very good, that has settled
- 7:21Speaker 4: for a lot of meter range shots, that doesn't seem
- 7:23Speaker 4: to have the intensity or the quality on the ball
- 7:27Speaker 4: that maybe you'd see individually, because they do have some
- 7:29Speaker 4: pretty good individual players, but as a collective they having
- 7:32Speaker 4: been pretty good.
- 7:33Speaker 3: And just let the fans know.
- 7:34Speaker 1: The yellow card accumulation wipes once you get to the
- 7:37Speaker 1: knockout stages, so they start over right, so that concern
- 7:41Speaker 1: for the guys who have yellow as already goes away.
- 7:44Speaker 1: Another reason maybe not to play them. We're not play
- 7:46Speaker 1: them as much. Were you surprised, Nico that Christian Rodin
- 7:49Speaker 1: did not play in his home park again in Seattle?
- 7:53Speaker 1: I thought when I saw the two lining up with
- 7:55Speaker 1: a minute left in play, I thought for sure one
- 7:57Speaker 1: of them was Redond so we could get the huge ovation.
- 8:00Speaker 1: Talking to him after the game, you were down there,
- 8:02Speaker 1: But talking to him after game, he seemed disappointed.
- 8:04Speaker 3: I mean, he said all the right things.
- 8:06Speaker 1: He doesn't want to rock the boat because his team's winning,
- 8:08Speaker 1: but you could tell he was stung that he didn't
- 8:10Speaker 1: get in that Friday match. He said, he's training really hard,
- 8:13Speaker 1: he's working everything he can, and he'll be ready when
- 8:16Speaker 1: his numbers called.
- 8:17Speaker 3: Knowing rolled on as you do.
- 8:19Speaker 1: How do you think this World Cup's going for him?
- 8:21Speaker 2: Look? I'm biased here, obviously.
- 8:23Speaker 4: I mean I follow Christian wro Dance since he first
- 8:25Speaker 4: arrived out of U dub He's a guy that I've
- 8:27Speaker 4: always enjoyed. He is a legend here with the Sounders.
- 8:31Speaker 4: But even understanding my bias, I think that there was
- 8:35Speaker 4: a missed opportunity by Pochetutto maybe the only thing that
- 8:37Speaker 4: I didn't like about his strategy in this one, because
- 8:40Speaker 4: and you remember this, Greg, there was a moment from
- 8:43Speaker 4: the sixtieth maybe sixty fourth minute to about the eightieth
- 8:46Speaker 4: where Australia really found their groove right the about Rakunda
- 8:51Speaker 4: in I thought that they took some of the air
- 8:54Speaker 4: from that electric stadium and that electric fan base and supporters.
- 8:59Speaker 4: If you instead of bringing in Sebastian Burhalter into seventy fourth,
- 9:03Speaker 4: you bring in Christian roll Dan, you hit that stadium
- 9:06Speaker 4: with an adrenaline shut right to the heart, and it's
- 9:09Speaker 4: gonna blow up, and you're gonna catch You're gonna get
- 9:11Speaker 4: that audience back on your side. And he's a guy
- 9:15Speaker 4: that defensively could have done very well. He could match
- 9:17Speaker 4: up physically. I thought that he would have been the
- 9:19Speaker 4: right guy for the job.
- 9:20Speaker 2: But I don't know.
- 9:22Speaker 4: Potetina is a guy that I don't think ever wants
- 9:24Speaker 4: to play to what people are that expected. He was
- 9:27Speaker 4: like the Game of Thrones, like whenever you think that
- 9:29Speaker 4: the episode is gonna go one way, he goes to
- 9:31Speaker 4: the other.
- 9:31Speaker 2: Right. He doesn't want to play to that and that.
- 9:33Speaker 1: Come says that he keeps his locker room on edge.
- 9:35Speaker 4: Right.
- 9:36Speaker 1: Competitive, sure, and they don't expect to earn entitled anything. Right.
- 9:40Speaker 1: There is an Argentinian mindset that has pervaded this team
- 9:43Speaker 1: that we've lacked in the United States soccer community. You
- 9:46Speaker 1: talked about it with me on Friday. I mean, it's
- 9:50Speaker 1: easy to allow the coach when they win the first
- 9:52Speaker 1: two matches, But how much of this uprising and rise
- 9:56Speaker 1: to where they are now is because of the coach?
- 10:00Speaker 2: I think a lot of it.
- 10:00Speaker 4: I used to be someone and I mean I'm gonna
- 10:03Speaker 4: say most of it because look, I like gregbor Halter.
- 10:05Speaker 4: I thought that he had some really good quality things.
- 10:08Speaker 4: I thought that he did well helping the team get
- 10:10Speaker 4: better in possession. But now we put you Tina, it
- 10:13Speaker 4: was possession and purpose. Now there is this love for
- 10:16Speaker 4: the badge, there is this we need to be we're
- 10:18Speaker 4: together as a country, right. And if there is any
- 10:21Speaker 4: criticism that this golden generation has had is that they've
- 10:25Speaker 4: always put club before the nation or club before the country,
- 10:28Speaker 4: and now it just seems to have flipped. And a
- 10:31Speaker 4: lot of that comes with the level of competition, the
- 10:34Speaker 4: level of confidence, right. I mean, we were at the
- 10:37Speaker 4: University of Washington watching this team train and practice, and
- 10:41Speaker 4: there's just a different level of camaraderie.
- 10:43Speaker 2: We talked to Sergia Desk.
- 10:45Speaker 4: And he did not deny that this team is not
- 10:48Speaker 4: that they're confident that you know, I don't think that
- 10:51Speaker 4: you can call them arrogant. I think that they're just
- 10:53Speaker 4: extremely confident. And that's a good thing because I cannot
- 10:56Speaker 4: remember the last time that a USA soccer team would
- 11:00Speaker 4: go into a pitch and say we are better than you,
- 11:02Speaker 4: we are stronger than you, and we're going to beat
- 11:04Speaker 4: you down the submission. And that's what you saw from
- 11:06Speaker 4: this team. So a lot of that those go back
- 11:08Speaker 4: to that South American it's us against the world.
- 11:11Speaker 2: It's our fan base.
- 11:12Speaker 4: We have the home field advantage, and that's why, you know, Seattle,
- 11:16Speaker 4: they were amazing, right because even but you didn't. After
- 11:19Speaker 4: the game said he felt emotional of the reception and
- 11:22Speaker 4: the fans, and he's been kind of dying to get
- 11:26Speaker 4: that fan based to support this team.
- 11:29Speaker 2: I mean, if he goes back to the way the entire.
- 11:32Speaker 4: Stadium saying the national anthem in perfect synchrony, or it's
- 11:36Speaker 4: the crossroads the home cruntry roads, all of that. That
- 11:43Speaker 4: sort of attitude, that sort of passion and culture is
- 11:46Speaker 4: what sometimes is missing from this USA team, and he
- 11:49Speaker 4: seems like they have it now.
- 11:51Speaker 1: Tim Raim thirty nine years old, the captain of the
- 11:53Speaker 1: team defense and center defense. He said, this is the
- 11:56Speaker 1: closest US national team he's been. I think this is
- 11:58Speaker 1: fourth or fifth World Cup rotation, and I know it's
- 12:02Speaker 1: a chicken in the egg. They're winning, so they're closed.
- 12:04Speaker 1: But he's saying that this has been a close team
- 12:06Speaker 1: since they formed it back in the spring, and he
- 12:09Speaker 1: thinks that alone is the reason for them advancing to
- 12:11Speaker 1: where they are. Niico Marino MLS Espanol joining US here
- 12:14Speaker 1: on ninety three point three kg are He's been with
- 12:16Speaker 1: Fox thirteen in Seattle. Okay, what happens next we Turkey?
- 12:22Speaker 1: I'm hesitant, but I think I can write off. Okay,
- 12:24Speaker 1: whatever the result, they're still going to the round of
- 12:26Speaker 1: thirty two. Correct, So what do you think happens for
- 12:29Speaker 1: both the US and tournament wide? Who are the threats
- 12:32Speaker 1: out there? Who is the team or two in the
- 12:34Speaker 1: round of thirty two that you don't want the USCM
- 12:36Speaker 1: that could be trouble and then who might be the
- 12:39Speaker 1: one that really gets some of it. They potentially, if
- 12:41Speaker 1: they keep going, could play Spain in a quarterfinal the
- 12:43Speaker 1: way this is working out.
- 12:45Speaker 4: Yeah, Look, it's difficult to talk about specific teams because
- 12:49Speaker 4: it's still kind of anybody's games, right Because look, I
- 12:52Speaker 4: used to think or we came into this tournament thinking
- 12:55Speaker 4: that Belgium was gonna win their group and that was
- 12:58Speaker 4: who you were going to face at some point, maybe
- 13:00Speaker 4: in the round of sixteen. And now Egypt might be
- 13:04Speaker 4: the one that takes that. They have one of the
- 13:08Speaker 4: most disappointing teams in this tournament, and so now you're
- 13:12Speaker 4: kind of trying to figure it out. But Egypt, you know,
- 13:14Speaker 4: they have really come together. I mean we saw them
- 13:17Speaker 4: together here against Belgium, really push a young new generation
- 13:21Speaker 4: of really quality players in a one one that I
- 13:25Speaker 4: thought they should have won. To be quite frank that
- 13:26Speaker 4: they allow Belgium to come back into that game. So
- 13:29Speaker 4: I think Egypt, I don't know if they're throughout a team.
- 13:31Speaker 4: They are a very good team. I think they can
- 13:33Speaker 4: match up well with the United States, But at the
- 13:35Speaker 4: end of the day, I would still see this USA
- 13:37Speaker 4: team at home, like the favorite, So I think not
- 13:40Speaker 4: all the way until you maybe phase Spain is when
- 13:43Speaker 4: you really have to play as the underdog. But I
- 13:47Speaker 4: will say this, so far, this USN's national team has
- 13:51Speaker 4: been able to come in as the favorite and been
- 13:53Speaker 4: the favorite on the field. And that's not easy, right
- 13:55Speaker 4: because we've seen Uruguay take some hits this this season.
- 13:58Speaker 4: I mean they didn't bad, Elgium has been bad, Spain
- 14:01Speaker 4: has they tie zer zero with Cabo Vertu, Portugal to Congo,
- 14:06Speaker 4: so all of these nations that they have the quality
- 14:08Speaker 4: on paper, it doesn't always materialized on the field and
- 14:11Speaker 4: you have to be able to do that. So can
- 14:13Speaker 4: this USA team do it? I think that they can,
- 14:16Speaker 4: and I think that they'll win. Actually I think they'll
- 14:18Speaker 4: win with some rotations against Turkeia, take this group and
- 14:22Speaker 4: then continue to move on. But I do see perhaps
- 14:26Speaker 4: Spain with Lameil Jamal and some of these nuances of
- 14:31Speaker 4: soccer that they haven't seen. Because through the group stage
- 14:35Speaker 4: so far, you've played pretty pragmatic teams, right that they
- 14:38Speaker 4: give you the ball, they're gonna bunk her down, they're
- 14:40Speaker 4: gonna play on a low block. But how do you
- 14:42Speaker 4: play a team that's gonna come at you, that's gonna
- 14:44Speaker 4: force you to defend, that might pin back a guy
- 14:47Speaker 4: like Serginio des like to get forward, that might play
- 14:49Speaker 4: behind a guy like Jedi Robinson. Those are the things
- 14:52Speaker 4: that we're still there to see. But I love the
- 14:54Speaker 4: chances of this team. I think that everyone should believe.
- 14:57Speaker 4: Everyone listening to this show should be excited. You should
- 15:00Speaker 4: try to watch every single game because you don't want
- 15:03Speaker 4: to be the one that missed on history, right. I mean,
- 15:05Speaker 4: this could be a defining moment for US soccer, and
- 15:07Speaker 4: you don't want to miss it.
- 15:09Speaker 1: They have only advanced the past the quarterfinals one time,
- 15:11Speaker 1: and that was the very first one ninety six years
- 15:13Speaker 1: ago in nineteen thirty.
- 15:14Speaker 3: Why are we talking so much about the forward?
- 15:16Speaker 1: Well, because if the United States already into the round
- 15:18Speaker 1: of thirty two, if they win the round of thirty
- 15:20Speaker 1: two matches to be favored to do, they will play
- 15:23Speaker 1: back here in Seattle on July sixth and the round
- 15:25Speaker 1: to sixteen if they win that. Why is Nico talking
- 15:28Speaker 1: about Spain? There's probably Spain waiting for him in the
- 15:30Speaker 1: quarter final July tenth in Los Angeles, And as Brian
- 15:34Speaker 1: Smetzer told us on Friday, This is not all out
- 15:36Speaker 1: of the realm of possibility. Let me ask you one
- 15:38Speaker 1: big picture question, Nico, and maybe it's too big to
- 15:41Speaker 1: answer in this block, but how does the US sustain
- 15:44Speaker 1: this beyond this World Cup? We know the youth soccer
- 15:47Speaker 1: pay for pay problems in this country, and how not
- 15:49Speaker 1: every single best player gets an opportunity and the just
- 15:54Speaker 1: pay for play and the rich players get the biggest eyes.
- 15:58Speaker 1: How do we fix this? Poachatinos probably to leave. He's
- 16:00Speaker 1: probably going to take a job in or somebody in Europe.
- 16:03Speaker 1: He's already talked through. I think it was as Roma.
- 16:06Speaker 1: How do they sustain this if Pochattino leaves, how do
- 16:09Speaker 1: they capitalize on what they've already built here this summer?
- 16:12Speaker 4: You got to continue to feed into the academies, right
- 16:15Speaker 4: and get guys like Alex Right academies Sounders do a
- 16:21Speaker 4: phenomenal job at it. Dallas has done an excellent job
- 16:25Speaker 4: at it. You know, Orlando just brought out this Alex
- 16:28Speaker 4: Freeman who right now he's one of the best young
- 16:31Speaker 4: players in this tournament. Right, So those things you got
- 16:34Speaker 4: to continue to do is feeding to the youth. You
- 16:37Speaker 4: got to be able to develop. But You're right about
- 16:39Speaker 4: this whole pay for for soccer. It's it's a hard
- 16:41Speaker 4: thing to break because he kind of has become the norm.
- 16:44Speaker 4: But I remember talking to Arsen Benger before the Club
- 16:48Speaker 4: World Cup, right, he's the chief of Development of FIFA,
- 16:51Speaker 4: and he was talking about that that the US is
- 16:54Speaker 4: held back by all these people having to play and
- 16:57Speaker 4: you miss out on some really big talent when you
- 17:00Speaker 4: do that. But I think as long as MLS continues
- 17:03Speaker 4: to be adamant about playing local talent, I mean domestic kits. Right,
- 17:09Speaker 4: everybody hates the salary cap space for MLS, but if
- 17:11Speaker 4: there's anything that they that he does force teams is
- 17:15Speaker 4: to play homegrown players and play domestic talents, where a
- 17:19Speaker 4: league like League Imax in Mexico there isn't that the
- 17:22Speaker 4: salary cap space and they're bringing in players from other
- 17:26Speaker 4: countries and veteran players to fix these teams, and that
- 17:30Speaker 4: hinders the development of young talents. So you got to
- 17:33Speaker 4: continue to develop this youth group, right, so you could
- 17:36Speaker 4: have another golden generation. This can be the last one, right,
- 17:39Speaker 4: you got to continue to grow on that, and I
- 17:41Speaker 4: think that's the biggest challenge and I hope the fan
- 17:43Speaker 4: base continues to follow us up because look, twenty one questions,
- 17:48Speaker 4: and one of those questions is it's easy to love
- 17:50Speaker 4: me now, but are you going to love me when
- 17:51Speaker 4: I'm down and out?
- 17:53Speaker 2: Would you still have love for me?
- 17:54Speaker 1: Right?
- 17:54Speaker 2: I mean that's what it is. Can'd family.
- 18:00Speaker 4: Candy's family continue to stay with his national team.
- 18:04Speaker 2: I hope that they do.
- 18:05Speaker 1: You got time to stick around, you drop fifty cent.
- 18:07Speaker 1: We can't just let you walk out the door.
- 18:09Speaker 3: You got time to stick around.
- 18:10Speaker 1: Yeah, absolutely, four nine four five one on to come
- 18:12Speaker 1: to Dodge text on any questions you have for Nico
- 18:14Speaker 1: Moreno about the World Cup, about US soccer, about fifty
- 18:17Speaker 1: cent bars he's dropping on us. Chris is in there
- 18:19Speaker 1: not in his approval. I'll give you a keyword to
- 18:23Speaker 1: enter it right now. Twenty five hundred dollars or a
- 18:25Speaker 1: USK two hundred and fifty k giveaway trip trip in
- 18:28Speaker 1: or that at nine three three KGr dot comfre you
- 18:30Speaker 1: chances when twenty five and Finess will have another word
- 18:32Speaker 1: for you at two o'clock. Nico Moreno's up next. We're
- 18:35Speaker 1: gonna have a second set. We'll talk about the World
- 18:37Speaker 1: Cup as a tournament. What else has surprised him or disappointed.
- 18:40Speaker 1: He mentioned how that some of the disappointing teams that
- 18:42Speaker 1: have been favored and have not performed four.
- 18:44Speaker 3: Nine, four to five one.
- 18:45Speaker 1: Ask him what you want on the text line and
- 18:46Speaker 1: we'll ask Nico next on ninety three point three KJRFM, What.
- 18:55Speaker 3: Welok?
- 18:56Speaker 1: Back to Greg bellt Show with Christopher kid Live on
- 18:57Speaker 1: ninety three point three KJRFN, Nico Moreno, MLS Espanol and
- 19:01Speaker 1: Fox thirteen Seat It was so good and popular demand
- 19:04Speaker 1: on the text line said wow, the best officially the
- 19:07Speaker 1: best interview I ever heard Marcus from the two o six.
- 19:10Speaker 3: So we said, hey, stick around.
- 19:12Speaker 1: So mar Nico Moreno was kind enough to stick around
- 19:14Speaker 1: for a second segment. Let me ask you about the
- 19:17Speaker 1: tournament as a whole. What has surprised you? Teams maybe
- 19:21Speaker 1: have risen up that you didn't think it would be
- 19:23Speaker 1: as good as they are, and who has been the
- 19:24Speaker 1: disappointment so far?
- 19:26Speaker 2: Yeah, let's have what disappointment because there are many.
- 19:28Speaker 4: Right, we talked about Belgium and you know a guy
- 19:31Speaker 4: like Jeremy Dokud that was supposed to be his time, right,
- 19:33Speaker 4: Machester City guy that was supposed to take this torch
- 19:36Speaker 4: from Lukaku and all these guys, and he has been
- 19:40Speaker 4: a no show.
- 19:40Speaker 3: He did nothing, don't even start.
- 19:43Speaker 2: I don't think he was a no show, completely no show.
- 19:47Speaker 4: You have Ecuador, the second best team in Como Ball,
- 19:50Speaker 4: better than our better than Brazil, better than Colombia, and
- 19:53Speaker 4: they have yet to score a goal and they look
- 19:55Speaker 4: like they're on their way out.
- 19:58Speaker 2: You have teams like.
- 20:00Speaker 4: Copo Vert did that are the story of the tournament, right,
- 20:03Speaker 4: because they've been able to be pragmatic. But look, they
- 20:06Speaker 4: went at Uruguay, who's another team that has let people
- 20:10Speaker 4: down there asking for l Maestro Vilsa's head in Uruguay.
- 20:14Speaker 4: But you know copo vert that really took it to Uruguay.
- 20:17Speaker 4: It wasn't like that first game against Spain where they
- 20:19Speaker 4: just sit in a block and they allowed eighteen nineteen
- 20:22Speaker 4: shots and they just held on for their life. In
- 20:24Speaker 4: this one, they went right at Uruguay. And yes there
- 20:27Speaker 4: was some mistakes on the free kick and the goalkeeper
- 20:30Speaker 4: I thinking the equalizer.
- 20:31Speaker 2: Had he could he.
- 20:35Speaker 1: I don't know what he was for him.
- 20:37Speaker 4: Yeah, he was going to play sweeper keeper and he
- 20:39Speaker 4: didn't quite work. So, yes, those are the stories that
- 20:43Speaker 4: I think have been very captivating about this tournament. But
- 20:49Speaker 4: the South American teams, primarily to me, have been a
- 20:52Speaker 4: real letdown. Right even Brazil, right they the first game
- 20:56Speaker 4: against Morocco was very shaky and then they beat a
- 20:59Speaker 4: Haiti team that they have beat three zero. But I
- 21:01Speaker 4: still don't believe that that's not the brazil O old,
- 21:03Speaker 4: that's not the Jogovnito, that's not that that group that
- 21:07Speaker 4: used to just beat you down with just quality and
- 21:09Speaker 4: pace and you know, bicycles and all these things that
- 21:12Speaker 4: you don't have that in Brazil. So I think that
- 21:13Speaker 4: the biggest is the pointm for me has been the
- 21:15Speaker 4: South American teams.
- 21:17Speaker 3: And who's surprised, who's strong?
- 21:19Speaker 1: Is eventually the cream gonna rise and we're going to
- 21:21Speaker 1: have France and Spain in Germany, in England and the Netherlands.
- 21:25Speaker 2: Yeah, absolutely, one hundred percent.
- 21:26Speaker 4: I think that France, Spain, England, I think that all
- 21:30Speaker 4: those teams are going to continue to be the bosses.
- 21:33Speaker 4: I do think that there have been some surprises in
- 21:35Speaker 4: the US is probably that biggest one for me that
- 21:38Speaker 4: has really shown up in a way that all of
- 21:40Speaker 4: a sudden you're like leading the dark horse race as
- 21:44Speaker 4: a contender to get forward moving on onto this tournament.
- 21:48Speaker 4: I think Japan has been very interesting that that group.
- 21:52Speaker 4: I did not see it as hard fought as it has,
- 21:55Speaker 4: but man, they have really put on a show and
- 21:59Speaker 4: they feel almost like a home team. I don't know
- 22:01Speaker 4: what it is with Mexico and like the Japanese teams
- 22:04Speaker 4: and the Korean teams, but the families loves them. They're
- 22:07Speaker 4: behind them completely, you know, feel like they have a
- 22:09Speaker 4: secondary home back then, and I think that has really
- 22:11Speaker 4: helped out.
- 22:12Speaker 1: They kind easily beaten in otherlands.
- 22:13Speaker 4: In their first game, absolutely that was probably one of
- 22:16Speaker 4: the if not the best game of the tournaments. So
- 22:18Speaker 4: Japan has been another surprise for me.
- 22:20Speaker 1: Okay, it's one thing for me to say NFL beat
- 22:23Speaker 1: writer for the Seahawks to say it, well, how off
- 22:25Speaker 1: the hook? The atmosphere was Friday for US Australiat Lumenfield.
- 22:29Speaker 1: For you who've been in South American stadium you've been
- 22:31Speaker 1: in Mexican stadiums, you've covered soccer, it's your life. Describe
- 22:35Speaker 1: what you thought of that scene, the whole atmosphere and Friday.
- 22:39Speaker 2: It was completely electric.
- 22:40Speaker 4: I mean I got goose bumps throughout the national anthem,
- 22:43Speaker 4: the flyover of the helicopters. I mean, everything about that
- 22:48Speaker 4: atmosphere felt South American to me, right if it felt
- 22:52Speaker 4: back home and that passion I haven't felt in an
- 22:56Speaker 4: American stadium, and like I've been covering them less for
- 22:59Speaker 4: about fifteen years now and with soundra hard of course,
- 23:05Speaker 4: who I'm now. We went to Mexico for that CCC final,
- 23:09Speaker 4: the CONCAFFT Champions that the Sounders ended up winning at
- 23:12Speaker 4: Stadio Universitydio, and that atmosphere was loud, and it was crazy,
- 23:19Speaker 4: and it was on top.
- 23:20Speaker 2: If almost felt like they were on top of the players.
- 23:22Speaker 4: This atmosphere was just as good, maybe not sustained throughout
- 23:26Speaker 4: the entirety of the game, but there were moments like
- 23:29Speaker 4: when they checked the var for that Alex Freeman goal
- 23:32Speaker 4: and all of a sudden they say, yeah, you just exploded.
- 23:35Speaker 4: I mean, I was up in the tribune, the media tribune,
- 23:39Speaker 4: which is kind of cool.
- 23:40Speaker 3: Excuse me for those who don't know.
- 23:41Speaker 1: There was an outdoor press box and the third level
- 23:44Speaker 1: at midfield on the west side of the stadium in
- 23:46Speaker 1: the shade under the overhang, and then there's a press box,
- 23:48Speaker 1: the traditional press box, the European and South American journalists
- 23:52Speaker 1: are used to being outside. In fact, when I covered
- 23:54Speaker 1: the Seahawks in Europe, in both Munich and in London,
- 23:57Speaker 1: I was out. At Wembley I was outside, and Loons Arena,
- 24:00Speaker 1: I was outside. So that's the norm. So they to
- 24:03Speaker 1: make it normal for the soccer writers, They've put them
- 24:06Speaker 1: outside and that's where Nico was upstairs.
- 24:08Speaker 4: And that just took it to a hard level because
- 24:10Speaker 4: my first thought throughout the goals was just looking around.
- 24:13Speaker 4: I saw guys in tears. As a little kid high
- 24:15Speaker 4: fiving everybody. I mean, there was this common objective unity
- 24:19Speaker 4: that man, it was I'm telling you, I'm getting goosebumps
- 24:22Speaker 4: just just talking about it because I could just see
- 24:24Speaker 4: those images back and forth. So that was kind of
- 24:26Speaker 4: cool being up there because I was integrated in between
- 24:29Speaker 4: the fan base and I could really take in how
- 24:32Speaker 4: it just completely amplified everything that this team need and
- 24:36Speaker 4: and it it goes back to the whole passion, and
- 24:38Speaker 4: it goes back to the culture that I'm starting to
- 24:40Speaker 4: see grow every single year more in the United States,
- 24:44Speaker 4: and that was huge.
- 24:45Speaker 2: I thought that Seattle showed out.
- 24:47Speaker 4: I mean, if I'm us soccer, I'm thinking that Seattle
- 24:51Speaker 4: could be a home base for this team moving forward.
- 24:54Speaker 1: I was about that, what is where are they now
- 24:56Speaker 1: and what would it take to bring a home base here?
- 24:59Speaker 1: Would they have to build a new facility that would
- 25:01Speaker 1: be us only or how would they do that? I
- 25:03Speaker 1: think that they can continue to do what they're doing right.
- 25:05Speaker 4: I Mean, the problem is the turf, right and there's
- 25:08Speaker 4: no grass and all these things. I don't see, especially
- 25:12Speaker 4: in the near future, a soccer specific stadium.
- 25:16Speaker 2: Would you need that?
- 25:17Speaker 3: Maybe they need one.
- 25:21Speaker 2: I mean it may be, but.
- 25:23Speaker 4: I think you can still work with what you have here,
- 25:26Speaker 4: but that would be the biggest problem is just the turf.
- 25:28Speaker 4: But like if you were, let's say, do a soccer
- 25:31Speaker 4: specific stadium for the Sounders, the demographic and what you're
- 25:37Speaker 4: kind of looking after for right now is possibly outside
- 25:40Speaker 4: of Seattle, right, right, You're going to have to pull
- 25:42Speaker 4: that team out of Seattle and you would have to
- 25:44Speaker 4: be a smaller stadium, right, I Mean, that's kind of
- 25:46Speaker 4: what we're hearing from ownership and things so far. Now
- 25:51Speaker 4: that could change because there are talks about this team selling,
- 25:54Speaker 4: the Sounders specifically selling to a new owner. So can
- 25:59Speaker 4: that own no owner come in and bring a bigger stadium.
- 26:03Speaker 4: I mean that's all still to bit determined. But in
- 26:05Speaker 4: terms of you as soccer, I think you could work
- 26:07Speaker 4: with what you have and be able to maybe come
- 26:10Speaker 4: up with some compromising things to have the team play.
- 26:12Speaker 3: Here.
- 26:13Speaker 1: Is there land around long Anchors if they could.
- 26:16Speaker 4: There is there is that's the easiest thing. That's the
- 26:19Speaker 4: easiest thing so far. When we talked to Agrian hay
- 26:21Speaker 4: now or they have a whole lot of land. And
- 26:23Speaker 4: you know there are stadiums in MLS like Austin that
- 26:27Speaker 4: they're outside of the direct city. So will people come
- 26:31Speaker 4: and get it out of settle. But there's a real
- 26:35Speaker 4: discourse there of a lot of people who are saying, look,
- 26:37Speaker 4: if you are not in Seattle, I'm not supporting the
- 26:40Speaker 4: team or I'm not going out there right And there
- 26:42Speaker 4: are those who are saying, hey, it's more important to
- 26:44Speaker 4: have a soccer specific team, whether it's smaller or not,
- 26:47Speaker 4: that is completely grassed and it's going to be yours
- 26:51Speaker 4: and you can have things like you just saw it
- 26:54Speaker 4: in a bigger scale.
- 26:55Speaker 1: To come to text line four nine four five one.
- 26:58Speaker 1: Nico is a great person interview when it comes to
- 27:00Speaker 1: the World Cup. Is he sitting on a booster seat.
- 27:03Speaker 1: That's from your guys. They he wanted to make sure.
- 27:06Speaker 1: They want to make sure he got in there from
- 27:09Speaker 1: also from the text line from the two five to three.
- 27:11Speaker 1: Are the Sounders likely to do anything in the transfer
- 27:14Speaker 1: window this summer?
- 27:15Speaker 4: Yes, the team is already out there looking. I have
- 27:19Speaker 4: said this before. I am eighty percent sure that this
- 27:23Speaker 4: team will bring at least one guy, and greater than that,
- 27:27Speaker 4: maybe even two players. They have a phenomenal scout in
- 27:31Speaker 4: John Henderson. I've talked to Craig Wible and he understands
- 27:36Speaker 4: the responsibility that this team has. They have been a
- 27:39Speaker 4: pretty good team and they have kept up and they've
- 27:43Speaker 4: started off pretty hot, but they kind of cool down.
- 27:46Speaker 4: I think that he wants to get another player to
- 27:48Speaker 4: give this team the best chance it has to go
- 27:51Speaker 4: out there and get another MLS title. So yes, I
- 27:54Speaker 4: have confidence that if not one player, maybe two players
- 27:57Speaker 4: will come back into this team.
- 28:00Speaker 1: Do international players in the World Cup have to wait
- 28:02Speaker 1: for a new transfer portal to come to the MS No?
- 28:05Speaker 2: I mean, you know you could.
- 28:06Speaker 4: As soon as the transfer window opens up, you could deal.
- 28:10Speaker 4: You can you know, stay, you got guys already that
- 28:13Speaker 4: like Griesman is going to be going into Orlando City
- 28:16Speaker 4: right after the World Cup, So I mean hopefully we
- 28:18Speaker 4: have Belgium here in Seattle. I mean, I'm sure maybe
- 28:22Speaker 4: you know, Lukaka would do great things with this Sounders team.
- 28:26Speaker 1: Belgian's been training with at the Sounders facility. In fact,
- 28:29Speaker 1: scrimmys them down on Long Acres last week. All right,
- 28:32Speaker 1: Nico is another one from the texta line Nico would
- 28:34Speaker 1: love me in a Bentley? Would you love me in
- 28:36Speaker 1: a bus? I've got twenty one questions all about us,
- 28:39Speaker 1: fifty let's go, let's go.
- 28:41Speaker 2: We're bringing back to two thousands here.
- 28:43Speaker 1: Man, Nico. I appreciate you coming in. I know you're
- 28:47Speaker 1: a busy man. You're gonna be on Fox thirteen Seattle tonight.
- 28:50Speaker 1: You got a Panamanian radio hit to talk about Panama playing,
- 28:53Speaker 1: how's Panama doing?
- 28:54Speaker 4: By the way, they are struggling, but you know that
- 28:58Speaker 4: the fan base still pretty pretty strong on them. The
- 29:02Speaker 4: KUNKAF teams are another set of teams that have really
- 29:06Speaker 4: struggled so far, so we'll see what We'll be talking
- 29:09Speaker 4: to them as well. I'll have the pregame show for
- 29:12Speaker 4: Fox thirteen as well for the Bos and Heartsogo Vina
- 29:15Speaker 4: game in nine am Wednesday, right, yep, nine to ten yep.
- 29:20Speaker 4: So you could always tell me as well. It's sounder
- 29:23Speaker 4: art hard. We have some really good quality content there,
- 29:27Speaker 4: loving Scorcheres, poolsl Sports. Try to be all over in
- 29:31Speaker 4: terms of not just sounder coverage, but now work up coverage.
- 29:34Speaker 1: You're doing a hell of a job, Niko. Thank you
- 29:36Speaker 1: for coming in. Thank you for educating us in your enthusiasm.
- 29:39Speaker 1: And he says, the US can do it. You're talking
- 29:41Speaker 1: potentially semi finals. The breaks go their way, we'll.
- 29:45Speaker 3: See what happens. I'll see at the yard on Wednesday.
- 29:47Speaker 4: Yes, sir, thank you, Greg. You do a phenomenal job.
- 29:49Speaker 4: I just kind of bridging everything in man. So I
- 29:52Speaker 4: love your show, listening to your show, love KJR. You
- 29:55Speaker 4: guys do a phenomenal job. So thank you for having me.
- 29:57Speaker 4: Thank you, sir checks in the mail for that. I
- 29:59Speaker 4: appreciate that.
- 30:00Speaker 1: Up next, Ian Fernetz, the Mayor and Maple Valley two
- 30:02Speaker 1: big moves at the Crack and we already talked to
- 30:04Speaker 1: Mike Benton about it. We'll get the pregame post game
- 30:07Speaker 1: host for the Crack and Ian forness to talk about
- 30:09Speaker 1: that next the ninety three point three KJRFM.
- 30:19Speaker 3: Welcome back to the Greg.
- 30:20Speaker 1: Bellt Show with Christian Kidd on ninety three point three KGFM.
- 30:22Speaker 1: If you missed our interview with Nico Moreno, who was
- 30:25Speaker 1: really good, soundered hard, MLS, Sespianol, Fox thirteen Seattle two segments.
- 30:30Speaker 1: Even some people in the text lines I'm not even
- 30:32Speaker 1: a soccer fan, and I really enjoyed his Nico's enthusiasm
- 30:36Speaker 1: three success. Not a soccer fan, but Alasquez was entertaining,
- 30:39Speaker 1: enjoy listening to his breakdown and enthusiasm. Maybe there's hope.
- 30:42Speaker 1: Maybe there is hope of soccer converts the infra.
- 30:45Speaker 5: Can you get a maybe you've already done this in
- 30:47Speaker 5: my apologies if you have, Like next time you're down
- 30:49Speaker 5: because you're down at Jimmy's win for a World Cup.
- 30:52Speaker 1: Match, I think Wednesday with the noon match before Bosni
- 30:55Speaker 1: or hers Garvina.
- 30:55Speaker 5: And what about what about a Nico mas roundtable? Have
- 30:59Speaker 5: you done that yet?
- 31:00Speaker 1: We had Nico and Mas on at the same time.
- 31:03Speaker 3: No, we didn't.
- 31:04Speaker 1: They weren't the same because of No, I haven't done that,
- 31:06Speaker 1: yety fun, I had him both on Friday.
- 31:08Speaker 5: We both really get to be fun. Yeah, don't tell
- 31:10Speaker 5: mas I said that was a compliment to him.
- 31:12Speaker 3: I don't want to know.
- 31:12Speaker 1: I complound, so I won't promise.
- 31:15Speaker 3: He brought up.
- 31:16Speaker 1: Nico brought up something about he said, it's further down
- 31:18Speaker 1: the road than I thought about the Sounders ownership, one
- 31:20Speaker 1: potentially selling the team and two building a soccer only stadium.
- 31:25Speaker 1: They He said that in the vein of perhaps getting
- 31:28Speaker 1: US Soccer to move its headquarters out here, which some
- 31:31Speaker 1: journalists I was talking to Friday mentioned.
- 31:33Speaker 3: That, why would you not?
- 31:36Speaker 1: He said, the grass surface, the artificial turf surfaces that
- 31:38Speaker 1: we play out here in the Pacific Northwest has been
- 31:40Speaker 1: the impediment so far.
- 31:42Speaker 3: I mean then gay grafts.
- 31:44Speaker 1: Yeah right, that's whatever. Apparently there's room in long Acres at.
- 31:47Speaker 5: That ton of room down there, that a ton of
- 31:50Speaker 5: room down you.
- 31:50Speaker 1: Would build a stadium. Now, of course, would people go
- 31:52Speaker 1: to rent and Slash took Willa to.
- 31:54Speaker 3: Go, oh yes, I yes.
- 31:58Speaker 1: I mean the fortune makes a good Seahawks Stadium's connectivity
- 32:01Speaker 1: Pineer Square and the International District makes it unlike other
- 32:04Speaker 1: US soccer stadia.
- 32:05Speaker 3: That's true.
- 32:06Speaker 1: And there was a journalist from New York City, a
- 32:09Speaker 1: soccer journalist. I walked out of the stadium with three
- 32:11Speaker 1: hours after the match, and he said, we walked out
- 32:13Speaker 1: and Occidental Avenue was still bumping with people and parades
- 32:18Speaker 1: and bars and outdoor seating and watching a Brazil game.
- 32:21Speaker 1: And he looked at me and said, we need to
- 32:23Speaker 1: have the World Cup final here, not in the meadowlands.
- 32:26Speaker 1: And then he rattled off the list of all the
- 32:28Speaker 1: stadiums in the World Cup, like the one that's being
- 32:30Speaker 1: played right now in Arlington, not Dallas, that's in the
- 32:33Speaker 1: next to a hotel and an amusement park, and all
- 32:36Speaker 1: these suburbas, spread out cement places, Unlikelomenfield right.
- 32:41Speaker 5: Well, I mentioned it last Thursday, even before what we saw,
- 32:44Speaker 5: the before the spectacle that we saw on Friday. I
- 32:47Speaker 5: was talking about it on Friday on Thursday. I think
- 32:49Speaker 5: it was that because you and I've been to every
- 32:52Speaker 5: one of these stadiums in the World Cup's being played,
- 32:54Speaker 5: incause we're all NFL stadius, you and I've been to
- 32:56Speaker 5: all of them for the most part multiple times. And
- 33:00Speaker 5: to me that the two best and this was going
- 33:02Speaker 5: into Thursday when Canada was playing up in Vancouver, the
- 33:06Speaker 5: two best venues and the two best locations, and the
- 33:09Speaker 5: two best places in terms of atmosphere and just making
- 33:12Speaker 5: it a spectacle and a party and an event are
- 33:17Speaker 5: Vancouver and Seattle and there and there's nobody and there
- 33:21Speaker 5: is no I guess I can't speak for Mexico, but
- 33:25Speaker 5: let's be honest, there's no place that it's like those
- 33:29Speaker 5: two cities right now, Seattle and Vancouver, like there is zero,
- 33:33Speaker 5: zero place and just because of the infrastry you don't
- 33:35Speaker 5: get to remind me and reminded me of when you're
- 33:37Speaker 5: watching the NHL playoffs, and I think, well even the
- 33:40Speaker 5: NBA playoffs, except for of course the game where the
- 33:43Speaker 5: President of United States of America decided to show up
- 33:45Speaker 5: at MSG. You know, like you see people outside the
- 33:49Speaker 5: arenas during the NBA, NHL playoffs, especially NHL playoffs, you know,
- 33:52Speaker 5: because you can only get X number of people in there,
- 33:54Speaker 5: and everybody wants to go and be a part of it.
- 33:57Speaker 5: And that's kind of what Friday reminded me of. It
- 33:59Speaker 5: looked like, you know, Edmonton was does it the best?
- 34:02Speaker 5: Montreal does it really well. Where it's outside the arena,
- 34:06Speaker 5: there's thousands and thousands of other fans. And what you
- 34:10Speaker 5: just said about the infrastruction good. I think with the
- 34:12Speaker 5: Sounders though, Greg, like a soccer early stadium would be
- 34:16Speaker 5: great for them, and I don't think it would matter
- 34:18Speaker 5: in terms of not having the quote stuff around it
- 34:23Speaker 5: for the Sounders matches, because you're never gonna have I mean,
- 34:27Speaker 5: there isn't a World Cup game being played in mL
- 34:29Speaker 5: stadium that's MLS only, right, right, Like we all Salt
- 34:33Speaker 5: Lake or Colorado, the LA both LA stadiums Kansas City, right, they're.
- 34:39Speaker 1: Already Philadelphia, which has an MLS only is playing at
- 34:42Speaker 1: the Eagles Stadium.
- 34:43Speaker 5: Right, They're all playing like so if you know, and
- 34:46Speaker 5: if we're having a big international event here again not
- 34:48Speaker 5: World Cup, but just a big international match, it would
- 34:51Speaker 5: just be played in the lumenfield anyway. That's true, right,
- 34:53Speaker 5: So I don't think it matters. Sometimes I think it
- 34:55Speaker 5: would behoove them to have their own place, but just
- 34:58Speaker 5: a soccer only stadium where have twenty five thirty thousand.
- 35:01Speaker 5: It always looks full, it's kind of fun. It's there,
- 35:03Speaker 5: so they can make Grasse what they want. I mean,
- 35:05Speaker 5: that'd be great. If I get to us. Soccer is
- 35:07Speaker 5: the headquarter here, I think, yeah, because where are they
- 35:10Speaker 5: now to?
- 35:12Speaker 1: I think it's commerce.
- 35:13Speaker 3: I think it's it was.
- 35:14Speaker 5: It was, yeah, because it was down in in uh Carson,
- 35:19Speaker 5: in Carson where the Chargers played their first two years
- 35:22Speaker 5: and whatever l A f C. I think Alexy Yeah,
- 35:25Speaker 5: and I nemember seeing I remember walking in there for
- 35:27Speaker 5: the first preseason game we did there and seeing it
- 35:29Speaker 5: and seeing that, I'm like, god, that is pretty Yeah,
- 35:32Speaker 5: that is that. There's like east Side Soccer Club up
- 35:35Speaker 5: in Preston has better facilities. You know, what's the one
- 35:38Speaker 5: packed Northwest and at uh my team, Yeah, they have
- 35:42Speaker 5: a better have they have more impressive looking facilities in
- 35:45Speaker 5: this thing. That's true, right, So but hell, what a
- 35:49Speaker 5: what a great effort by them so far? And I
- 35:51Speaker 5: you know here in Schmetz and Nico and everybody else,
- 35:54Speaker 5: we're daring to dream right now. God, please don't let
- 35:56Speaker 5: us be disappointed.
- 35:57Speaker 3: Why not?
- 35:58Speaker 5: Right?
- 35:58Speaker 3: Why not?
- 36:00Speaker 1: Sure you'll talk about Bobby McMahon, Yeah, for sure, But
- 36:02Speaker 1: what do you got going to then?
- 36:04Speaker 5: Well, we'll got Molly wopping at one o'clock today with
- 36:07Speaker 5: Nathan and Chris and in.
- 36:10Speaker 1: Remind Molly wo they're still in first place.
- 36:12Speaker 5: Okay, we pre taped it out in full disclosure transparents
- 36:17Speaker 5: be pre taped it. So we're gonna play a little
- 36:18Speaker 5: clip from one of the guys early and throw a
- 36:20Speaker 5: little conversation out there at people at it's pretty good.
- 36:24Speaker 5: I think you can listen. Multiple things can be true. Yes,
- 36:27Speaker 5: they're in first place. Yes, have they been disappointing?
- 36:30Speaker 1: Yes? Okay, well guess the name Rob Reschneider going to
- 36:33Speaker 1: be mentioned.
- 36:35Speaker 5: Here's part of the thing is the reason I'm telling
- 36:37Speaker 5: you it was being transparent about it being taped. I mean,
- 36:41Speaker 5: have we checked the transaction wire he's making. He's making
- 36:44Speaker 5: six million. They're not They're not terfing him for even
- 36:46Speaker 5: a man. Nathan does have his ticker AJ Pollock ticker
- 36:52Speaker 5: to see if he can reach the saint, and I
- 36:55Speaker 5: believe ref Schneider would have to go eight for eight
- 36:58Speaker 5: in his next two games to JJ Pollock. Really, yes,
- 37:02Speaker 5: that's how bad he has been. Wow, because AJ Pollock
- 37:05Speaker 5: was gone right around now. I think it's he's got
- 37:08Speaker 5: the ticker. We'll get to that later. But I the
- 37:10Speaker 5: AJ Pollock Rob refsnunnter ticker. That's how bad ref Snunder's been.
- 37:14Speaker 5: He's worse than AJ Pollock. I can go down to
- 37:17Speaker 5: Colton Wong Road. But we thought about it. At least
- 37:20Speaker 5: Colton Walk could play second.
- 37:22Speaker 1: Sure, And that's He'll talk punks, he'll talk baseball, he'll
- 37:28Speaker 1: talk soccer, he'll talk a lot more. Next he's on
- 37:30Speaker 1: from noon until three Greg Bell, the newshold being Christophe.
- 37:33Speaker 3: Thanks for listening.
