Transcript
- 0:03Hello and welcome to episode three of Draft Offsides.
- 0:06I'm here with Tico and Enzo. My name is Keith.
- 0:08How you guys doing? Did you guys hear this?
- 0:11Because the owner of Tottenham, right, is Joe Lewis.
- 0:14Did you guys hear who wants to buy Tottenham?
- 0:17Who wants to buy Tottenham? It's someone that has 99
- 0:20problems but wants one more. Jayz.
- 0:23Jayz I'm shocked at a winner like that would want to buy a
- 0:26club like Tottenham. That's why.
- 0:27You know what? I'm not gonna lie to you.
- 0:30I'm not gonna lie, I'm surprised too.
- 0:32I was thinking more like an Ed Sheeran.
- 0:34Jayz probably said hey, told Beyoncé.
- 0:36I want to challenge that. It'd be difficult to conquer and
- 0:39be honest. Was like just by Tottenham.
- 0:40It's like, it's like his Rushmore.
- 0:41He's like, can I, can I win here as well?
- 0:44Can I succeed where no one else has?
- 0:46Literally no one else has. I beat the hood, I beat all
- 0:49these things in life. But can I?
- 0:51Can I best Tottenham? Oh man, So what the Tottenham,
- 0:55The Tottenham owner got busted for some sort of, like, for
- 0:59insider training or fraud or something?
- 1:01Yeah, insider training and fraud.
- 1:03He's giving out like inside training to his girlfriends and
- 1:06they'll make him like hundreds of thousands of dollars.
- 1:10Damn, what do I have to do to be one of his girlfriends?
- 1:13Wanna dress in some makeup, bro? I don't know.
- 1:16I'm in. Is he gonna have to sell the
- 1:19club because of this or is it just something else, like
- 1:21separately? Well, I guess like if he gets
- 1:23done in, I'm thinking there's gonna be seizures.
- 1:26So I guess his bell was like 300 million and I guess that was
- 1:29like one of his yachts and one of his country homes that he
- 1:32has. So he had to get rid of those
- 1:34and use those as like lateral. What a drag.
- 1:37If only he had like a player he could sell and make like 100
- 1:40million Tico. Do you have another rant,
- 1:43another messy rant or something you want to do?
- 1:45Or you feel you feel a little better this week.
- 1:48Not a little messy rant, but has he played an MLS match or it's
- 1:52been just those tournaments? No he he just won.
- 1:54He just scored two goals ahead and assist against Atlanta so.
- 1:58But was that it? Was that like the MLS or was it
- 2:00the one of those are MLS tournaments?
- 2:03I think that was his first MLS game.
- 2:05You know what I don't fucking like is the fact that he won't
- 2:08play the next game. You know why?
- 2:11I can't know what team it is. It might be Phoenix or someone
- 2:13they won't take off their Astro turf because they don't want to
- 2:16put in real turf and into Miami will not risk Messy getting her.
- 2:21Do you think it's like going to be a strategy where they're like
- 2:25like quick replace all our grouse with astroturf so we
- 2:27don't have to play against Messy?
- 2:30I remember it was not done. Had the same thing where he
- 2:32wouldn't play on the road game is one that was stadiums at a
- 2:35turf. I think Seattle had one
- 2:37Portland, so he wouldn't play those games.
- 2:39I do not blame them. That's like, I mean I play on
- 2:41Astroturf every week and it's just it's hard on your knees.
- 2:45It's just as you get older it's harder if you're gonna play with
- 2:47full cleats. That's how you get knee
- 2:48injuries. It's just it's brutal.
- 2:50Alright let's talk about some notes and news couple.
- 2:54Just couple people have left since last time we spoke.
- 2:57So state maximum from Newcastle is gone.
- 2:59They're all they're all just Saudi too or no, no, I guess
- 3:02Zaha went to Galatasaray and then Mars is now gone.
- 3:06Sounds like Mitchevich is leaving, Not leaving.
- 3:10I got I heard he was practicing again, but it sounds like he's
- 3:12not gonna gonna play I. Heard his back in training, but
- 3:16I I also read that he doesn't want to play for full home
- 3:18anymore, so he might just play for another team selling.
- 3:22Loan him out to a different EPL team.
- 3:24That would be something to keep an eye out on, yeah, very much
- 3:27so. It's a drag for full and I mean,
- 3:29he was like, they literally like that team's like built around
- 3:31him. So it just sucks up.
- 3:34He's just not gonna be there for him.
- 3:37They made their better go sleeping.
- 3:38They know who they had. Yeah, well, So what?
- 3:40So then they signed Raul Jimenez.
- 3:43Do you think he's viable that have on your team?
- 3:46Maybe maybe four or five years ago and he was when he was good
- 3:50before that head injury. Exactly when he was ready to
- 3:53like, was he like 50 million raids, 60 million raid.
- 3:55Now we man, I thought he was gonna go to United.
- 3:58I thought he's gonna be a really good player.
- 3:59I thought he was gonna be the next kind of striker in the
- 4:01prim. How much they buy them for five
- 4:04and a half mil? Yeah, yeah, no scraping them all
- 4:07the barrel, I mean, but same same.
- 4:09Naughty types and playing style, so he's gonna get his
- 4:11opportunities. Yeah, but not the same.
- 4:14I mean, they're the other guy of initiates, right?
- 4:16The Fulham does that. Sue's another big body striker.
- 4:19So I don't know, I I'm like at first I kind of was like ohh,
- 4:23Jimenez might be a good pickup. But now the more I think about
- 4:26it, I I just feel like he's gonna be getting something on a
- 4:28lot late like that type of player and not so much someone
- 4:31that you can depend on at any sort of capacity.
- 4:33But we'll see the other bit of news United looking at signing a
- 4:39striker there. That that young kid from
- 4:40Atlanta, Rasmus Holland. Is that how you pronounce it?
- 4:45Yeah, Manste, he's got Holland. They've got Holland.
- 4:49Holland. Yeah.
- 4:49They knew there was like the the bootleg version, huh?
- 4:53But. Holland close enough.
- 4:54One is from Norway, one is from Denmark.
- 4:56Similarity. Same region, similar name.
- 4:58So he'd only joined Atlanta that year, so he'd only been there
- 5:02for a year. He's so young, I'm kinda.
- 5:04And they paid what they're paying like 70 mill for him. 70
- 5:08million, they basically pay him 7 million.
- 5:10He's he's they're only paying him I think 80,000 a week.
- 5:13So it's a lot cheaper than the original target which was Harry
- 5:16Kane. But would you rather they spent
- 5:1970 million on him, which is probably what, maybe 30-30
- 5:22million less that they would have had to spend on Harry Kane?
- 5:25Do you think Tottenham would have ever sold him, sold Harry
- 5:27Kane to a direct travel like he had done?
- 5:29It would have been like 150. They're not a direct rival.
- 5:33They did, but they didn't even, like, even test the waters.
- 5:36They are direct rival, top six club, all right, top six club.
- 5:40But they're not. They didn't even test the
- 5:42waters. Like, like I went in there and
- 5:45said I want Harry Kane and then all of a sudden they're like, Oh
- 5:47no, wait, Daniel Levy, Let's go for this little kid that only
- 5:51scored nine goals in 37 games last season and let's see what
- 5:55he can be in the future. They took a big risk.
- 5:57They took a big risk. Yeah, I kind of agree.
- 6:00I'm curious to see how it goes. I mean, the one thing I will say
- 6:02is that, you know, like look at, look at how much tip playing
- 6:05down van wing horse got last season.
- 6:06I think Ted Hawkins is gonna play this kid a lot, even if it
- 6:09takes a while to get used to the league.
- 6:11Even if he's not like, great from the rip, I think he's still
- 6:13gonna get a lot of playing time. So kind of with that in mind
- 6:17where do you think he where do you, where do you think he's
- 6:18gonna go in drafts if he if he signs this week?
- 6:21Well, also interested in the impact he has on rash for
- 6:24because he plays off top. So those rash for.
- 6:26So do they move rash for on the wing, on the left side?
- 6:29Yeah, I think the general sense is that rash for is better, like
- 6:32coming in off the left a little bit, right.
- 6:34So, like Rashford, he's not as like dominant as a striker as
- 6:37much as he is like a left forward almost.
- 6:41What do you guys think about Hall and Light for United?
- 6:42What do you think he'll be drafted?
- 6:44Do you think it's gonna go like late second, early 3rd or what
- 6:46do you think? May United player and May United
- 6:48fans gonna pick him up thinking he's the best thing since sliced
- 6:52bread. Yeah, I was feeling that.
- 6:54None of us will have a chance at him.
- 6:55You know what I mean? Like, I think the place in the
- 6:59draft or I feel comfortable drafting him.
- 7:01There's gonna be a United fan that's already drafted him and
- 7:03most drafts, I feel like. Exactly.
- 7:05And if I feel like you want to draft the player like this where
- 7:09it didn't runs good enough for you to take a gamble on players
- 7:12because there's no more good enough players on the board
- 7:14left. But like you said, a lot of fans
- 7:17and forward is such a scars position, so I feel like it
- 7:20won't last until end of the third round.
- 7:21It's not. He's not gonna make it into the
- 7:234th. Yeah, I agree.
- 7:24I think about if he was sitting around in the end of the third,
- 7:26beginning of the fourth, I'd snap him up.
- 7:28But I I agree. I don't think he's gonna be
- 7:29there in most, most leagues. I would also if I get the first
- 7:33taken or second if I know with how long I'll draft this guy to
- 7:36it just because I can make both of them combined and super.
- 7:40You see you need one more guy with the last name H you can be
- 7:42the you can name her team Triple H and have a little WWE
- 7:48reference there for you. Last minute news is there's a
- 7:52rumor that IMBOPE is in talks with Liverpool and PSG about a
- 7:58potential loan. One year loan, I mean, and who
- 8:03knows like right? Like how realistic that is?
- 8:06Just curious, where does it vape go in the draft if this happens?
- 8:10This goes through the next week, second or several.
- 8:13He He be. He be, He be.
- 8:15First of second. But like, you got a thing.
- 8:18You said this in the last episode.
- 8:20He doesn't want to go anywhere. That hasn't got Champions
- 8:22League. Did he get Champions League?
- 8:24No. Didn't get Champions League?
- 8:25No. Yeah, they finished fifth.
- 8:28Yeah, I guess you're right. Do you think?
- 8:31But do you think he goes? You think he goes first, second
- 8:33or third for sure? Yeah, well, I wouldn't ask you
- 8:35right he. Asked you.
- 8:37No one wants to make the same mistake we made last time and
- 8:39give freaking Tico Harland 1/5. Yeah, true.
- 8:43Fair enough. No.
- 8:44Yeah, he definitely goes top three also.
- 8:47It's with that team. High pace is also an
- 8:49entertaining player to watch. For my first round, I like
- 8:51playing. I like drafting a player that I
- 8:54like watching them play the team.
- 8:56So obviously, who doesn't like playing or watching Liverpool?
- 8:58And then Bop, I play football, so that would be agree.
- 9:01That would be so exciting. That would just be so exciting
- 9:03having Bop in the Premier League even just for a year see what he
- 9:06could do, you know. But yeah that's that's very
- 9:11unlikely. He'll be very unlikely.
- 9:13He'll be Madrid, he'll probably be in Madrid.
- 9:15Alright, moving on. So let's talk a little bit
- 9:17preseason. I feel like it's so interesting
- 9:20with preseason cuz there's so much like it is an indicator on
- 9:24how a team's doing, but it's also, you can't really put too
- 9:27much weight into it, right? Is that is that Do you guys kind
- 9:29of feel the same way? Yeah, it's it's preseason man.
- 9:33Like I got so many ultra fans going off, cuz they beat
- 9:36Barcelona 5, three. It's a fucking preseason game.
- 9:40And also when in there, like it was a cup final, I watched the
- 9:43game, they were like going 100%. They weren't using it as like a
- 9:48preseason. Let's get ready.
- 9:49They're like, this is Barcelona, this is a cup final.
- 9:52We're gonna destroy him. Javier is not happy about it,
- 9:54huh? No, it wasn't.
- 9:57I mean, you're playing a game. These guys are playing for their
- 9:59careers, you know, they gotta show off.
- 10:02So I got it. I also think the way Arsenal
- 10:05finished last year, they probably have the approach and
- 10:07the mentality. Hey, even preseason every single
- 10:09game we have to give it everything we have.
- 10:12So they're just informed throughout the whole season.
- 10:15But yeah, the precedent I don't count from that much, especially
- 10:17since Barcelona destroyed Real Madrid 30.
- 10:20So I just throw it out there I. Can't believe I'm gonna say
- 10:22this. They didn't destroy Real Madrid.
- 10:24I watched that game too, and Madrid was smashing off the
- 10:28crossbar. The post.
- 10:30I think one came off the disturbance back of his head.
- 10:33It was so lucky. That was it.
- 10:35Like only if they had a. Striker like mdave.
- 10:39Yeah, only only. If only.
- 10:40I don't know. The one thing I will say about
- 10:42preseason is that there's certain players like I I was
- 10:44watching like for example, obviously I'm watching a lot of
- 10:47the Chelsea preseason is there was that guy, Nicholas Jackson,
- 10:50who we weren't, that we were uncertain about and he's had a
- 10:52really good preseason and it's made everyone a little bit more
- 10:55excited. It doesn't mean he's gonna be
- 10:56great in the Prem, but I think it means that he's gonna be
- 10:59starting games and like when we didn't know that he was gonna
- 11:02be, we didn't just didn't know what that was gonna look like.
- 11:05And then I look at someone like Mason Mount who what they've had
- 11:07four preseason games no goals no assists from out playing a
- 11:10little bit deeper just and I'm like, oh I probably would not
- 11:14draft them out in the top three rounds now just after watching
- 11:17him in preseason like not it's not like the end all be all.
- 11:20I don't think he's gonna be bad. But I'm just thinking like, oh,
- 11:22it might take a little bit longer for them to get used.
- 11:24To it, I was just gonna ask, is Nicholas Jackson going to be the
- 11:26starting striker for Chelsea? I mean, at the rate that he's
- 11:29been scoring and what it's been looking like, I think he
- 11:31probably will be. Do you think he's the head of
- 11:34Madawakki, Sterling and Broha? I don't think Madawakki and
- 11:38certainly are gonna play in that central striker role.
- 11:41I think, and I think Broha's coming out of injury, Broha's
- 11:43not even in the preseason. So I mean if there's a chance in
- 11:48Cuckoo plays in that 10, but he'd rather play in the nine.
- 11:51I mean, but he'd rather play in the 10.
- 11:53So I think it's, I think it's gonna be Jackson for now.
- 11:57So, I mean, those are just little indicators, you know?
- 12:00And then, like Trussard, well, he's scored two, he scored two
- 12:03or three. He's like pretty good.
- 12:05He might be their answer up front.
- 12:06I was talking to one of my cousin.
- 12:08He's a big Arsenal man. And like, honestly, if if Jesus
- 12:11did go out, like Trussard's the man they put up there, like he
- 12:15can, he can do it. He's he's already accomplished.
- 12:18He's already, you already know. I can't be even saying this.
- 12:19Hey, it hurts inside me saying that.
- 12:22But Trussard, he's class man and he could play up front for us.
- 12:25I think he could do some damage, especially with that team, the
- 12:27way it works. But he doesn't mind doing a
- 12:30little 1-2, giving goal and giving up a goal.
- 12:32But then he can shoot from LY, which he saw that already in
- 12:35that last game. Yeah, he impressed me.
- 12:38According to my sources that I spoke with at Arsenal, the
- 12:43chemistry is better with Tristard and Gabriel Martinelli.
- 12:46It's a player that if he doesn't start off well or he's
- 12:48struggling, Tristar might take over his position as well.
- 12:51Keith also question. Ask the question, who are your
- 12:54sources at Arsenal? Cuz we're all very curious.
- 12:58Curious. I I cannot disclose my sources.
- 13:00I'm sorry, I just cannot disclose my sources.
- 13:02I guess we'll just let that lie. I don't want.
- 13:03To think they listen to the pockets.
- 13:05That's OK. Yeah.
- 13:08I'm not gonna confirm Northern Ill.
- 13:09It's his brother who's an Arsenal fan.
- 13:11That's his source. That's what it is.
- 13:14That's funny. Any other people on your radar
- 13:18from preseason that you guys have any kind of excited about
- 13:21it off? Like, I mean, I think that one
- 13:23of the funniest things was like, there was obviously a few weeks
- 13:25ago, but like Harvard's like it was like the MLS game and he
- 13:28like missed. There was like they did the
- 13:29crossbar challenge and he was the only player in history to
- 13:32miss every single one. So that was pretty funny.
- 13:35You couldn't even control the fucking ball, man.
- 13:37You're a professional football player.
- 13:38No pressure around you, no one touch, no nothing.
- 13:42But he did have a good goal in the I think he had a volley goal
- 13:46in the game he did against against the, you know, MLAs All
- 13:51Stars. So for what it's worth.
- 13:55I can't be able to say this again about another Arsenal
- 13:57player, Timber Jury and Timber Arsenal player.
- 14:03He looks good. Do you think he's going to start
- 14:05every game? Do you think he's like held in?
- 14:08I think he looks good. I think he's he's he's a strong
- 14:10luck because look, Tommy Asu's injury prong right?
- 14:14Jury and Timber is a right back. Am I right?
- 14:16Tommy ASU is like, right back, yeah.
- 14:18So he's Tommy Osu's injury prime.
- 14:20I like Tommy OSU, I wanted him at Tottenham when it when it was
- 14:23going about. But I think Jury and Timber and
- 14:25a funny one for me, Romeo Beckham.
- 14:28I would love to see what he does at Brentford.
- 14:29So that's another one I've been looking at.
- 14:31So has he been playing in the I don't.
- 14:34Know it's It's just the name I saw.
- 14:36Just want the shirt just for the Beckham shirt on the Brentford
- 14:38ringing jersey. Love it.
- 14:41Love it. Good.
- 14:42I like I watched one of the Chelsea games where Ancuko was
- 14:44playing as the the 10 role. I thought he he was impressive,
- 14:49he was doing well. I think he scored on the in that
- 14:51game. I just don't remember who they
- 14:53played against and especially since he could play the 9 role
- 14:56as well. I think Ancuko might be a good
- 14:58player to kind of keep an eye on just because he's gonna get the
- 15:01opportunities. I agree.
- 15:03I know that was one of Enzo's hates.
- 15:04But I I'm kind of he's been keeping up because of preseason
- 15:07because I think he he he's been finding his feet pretty quickly
- 15:12are you are you are still feeling like he's not is he
- 15:14still a hate have you kind of. I'm not going to do a Tico and
- 15:18do you know, say one thing about one player and say another, I'm
- 15:21going to stick to my guns. I don't think that he's going to
- 15:24do as well in his first season, maybe his second season, not his
- 15:26first season. So more information does not
- 15:28change your opinion. You want me to bring it up,
- 15:31Reese James. OK, just don't don't.
- 15:33No. Love Reese James.
- 15:36He's also risky business. For the most of this episode,
- 15:39we're going to talk about like our rankings, but more from like
- 15:43positional tiers than from like a strict like one through 100.
- 15:46So we kind of just want to talk about the positions and who kind
- 15:50of fits where and what kind of levels we're comfortable with.
- 15:53And the way tiered ranking is, is like you kind of break it up
- 15:55like these are the top 3 strikers and you've got they're
- 15:58give and take. These guys are pretty
- 15:59unchangeable. Then like the next range
- 16:01underneath that and then finding the range underneath that.
- 16:04It's just a good way to think about it when you're drafting.
- 16:08So I guess we'll kind of get into it.
- 16:09I think with we'll start with forwards and when you look at
- 16:12forwards there's, you know, we don't, there's not really much
- 16:15you can say about the top three, right?
- 16:16The top. There's like a tier that's just
- 16:18kind of on its own. And I don't think anyone would
- 16:20really argue that it's early Holland, most Allah hurricane,
- 16:23right If if if Harry Kane stays, he's in that top tier.
- 16:27I think you could make an argument for any of them being
- 16:30your number one. Probably Holland is probably the
- 16:33guy Kane could you could make that argument.
- 16:35But I think where it starts getting interesting is kind of
- 16:38in those the next few tiers, right?
- 16:40So Tier 2, Tico Enzo, do you guys have anyone other than
- 16:44Jesus Rashford son is there is that kind of where you guys are
- 16:48too? And and Tier 2, Yeah, if you're
- 16:52gonna just go by forwards like actual strikers like.
- 16:56And again, Premiership's so crazy because you've got wingers
- 16:58in there cuz like, salah's not really a forward, he's a winger.
- 17:01But you got like Wilson Rashford, Ollie Watkins.
- 17:07Only had a great season last season so I put them in the the
- 17:11next year. You put all.
- 17:12Yeah you put all in the next year as well.
- 17:15I think that's a fair one shot. He's the he's my in my third
- 17:17tier. He's like my top guy.
- 17:19I also have the Liverpool tree. I want to you know get your guys
- 17:23opinion on that as well. Obviously you know they have
- 17:25Sala who's going to get it for me and your left up top.
- 17:27So it's like it's going to be a rotational roller coaster who
- 17:31plays or who's the? Most informed player, but I feel
- 17:35like new Darwin Nunes is the one that would probably go from the
- 17:39three of those just because I feel like Klopp favors him.
- 17:42He's always talking him up and he gets the opportunity, he gets
- 17:45the playing time. So I would I would kind of have
- 17:49Nunes interior too you so OK. So that's a that's kind of my
- 17:52big question for the forward. So it's like it's Luis Diaz
- 17:55Darwin Newton as Cody Gap GOP Poe.
- 17:58So where you so you're you're going Nunez, you think that's
- 18:01the one you'd pick? If you had to choose between
- 18:02those three, that's the one you'd go you'd go for.
- 18:05Yeah, and especially since I had Luis Diaz last year and he was
- 18:08just injured the whole year. So you kind of got burned.
- 18:11You got burned a little. Bit yeah he was my second or
- 18:12third round pick and you know never again he I'm not drafting
- 18:16him and so how do you feel is of those three who's the one that
- 18:19you would most likely draft. I would go with Diaz.
- 18:22Just Diaz and Solo worked really well on those wings and we gag
- 18:26po up front. How could this work?
- 18:28They're interchangeable. Darwin just has a has a touch
- 18:32like a brick foot, like Lukaku in my opinion.
- 18:35So I don't really trust Nunez. I think he's great athletically,
- 18:39but I don't think he's gonna be that that top three all the
- 18:42time. So that's pretty funny cuz I
- 18:44think I would have had to choose between the three.
- 18:46I'd go gakpo. So it's funny that we all have a
- 18:49different one that we really think would be the best.
- 18:50I think my reasoning is I think Diaz and and on Nunez like don't
- 18:57really play as much as a central striker.
- 18:59So I think there's more chance that they are gonna alternate.
- 19:03I think Diaz just coming off that injury might take a little
- 19:06while to get acclimated. I think Gakpo was, since he came
- 19:10in at the second-half of last season, was like just kind of
- 19:13like like really solid and kind of like was a really strong
- 19:18focal point for Liverpool. So I think he's the most likely
- 19:21to start the most amount of games, you know?
- 19:23So just from like a consistency, consistency standpoint, I think
- 19:27he might be the he's my choice. OK.
- 19:30So just based off the playing time, I feel like maybe we we
- 19:32should think of some kind of a wager for end of the year
- 19:35between the those three forward to you as the I like that.
- 19:39Yeah, we'll figure something out.
- 19:40I like that. I mean we'll just, we'll figure
- 19:41out, we'll figure out the cost of the wager.
- 19:43But I think that's a good let's do a let's do a shake on that.
- 19:45See who wins who wins that that battle.
- 19:48That's a good one. So I OK, so that's a I think, I
- 19:51mean I I don't think it can really go wrong with any of
- 19:53them. I think it's just my issue and
- 19:54my fear is that you're gonna have to drop one of them in
- 19:57what, the second round and the the getting guy in the second
- 20:00round who's not gonna start every single game is like not
- 20:03ideal. It's gonna be all about formula.
- 20:06So would you rather have what the Chelsea forward instead of
- 20:09one of those three liver Liverpool forwards?
- 20:12In cuckoo, I would. Not Nicholas Jackson, but in
- 20:15kunku I would because I think in Kunku's gonna start almost every
- 20:18single game that he's fit and available and I don't think, I
- 20:20think there's, I think one of these guys isn't and maybe two
- 20:24of them aren't because there's there's jolt that too.
- 20:27And so then you're just in this spot where you just, you just
- 20:29can't really afford to have your second round draft pick like not
- 20:32starting games you know. So I'm a little like I'm a
- 20:36little leery of them to be honest with you all three.
- 20:39But I know that I know two of them are gonna be great.
- 20:41Maybe all three of them will be great.
- 20:43You know, so it's definitely a, it's definitely a sticky spot to
- 20:47be in. And then let's kind of move on.
- 20:50What's the? So from the forwards where
- 20:52where's like the line that you guys draw where you're like, OK,
- 20:56if I don't get this guy, anyone below this, like, I'm not I'm
- 21:00really not happy. Like I'm very unhappy.
- 21:02Does that make sense? Like?
- 21:05I think how long can most obviously Jesus Rashford.
- 21:11I think those are the ones if you have any of those forwards
- 21:13that that means you're set in that position you could start
- 21:15them every week. So if you I have any of those I
- 21:18would be happy if those are players are not off the on the
- 21:22board anywhere. I might just go midfield because
- 21:25I feel like midfield is just contributes more to fantasy.
- 21:27That's what I learned last year. So I think I would just go
- 21:30midfield heavy and then just play the positions.
- 21:32You could pick up a forward down the you know and the later
- 21:36rounds obviously not as good, not as productive.
- 21:38But you can just get people and just plug and plug and play like
- 21:41Anthony Alvarez, just players of those caliber.
- 21:46So you're kind of willing, if you don't get like the elite
- 21:48elite, you're willing to just like get some strong mids and
- 21:52just kind of get lucky on the back end.
- 21:54Is that kind of what you're saying?
- 21:55Yeah, yeah, I agree. It's like you if you're not
- 21:59gonna get the elite striker you want, you want to try to get
- 22:01elite, at least the elite midfielder, like either a career
- 22:05or a goal scorer from the win. You have to in your first one or
- 22:09two picks. You don't want to just get
- 22:11yourself a bum. Who's not going to do any for
- 22:13free, are you? Those first two picks are going
- 22:15to be your bulk of your scoring that you wanted to come from,
- 22:18and everything else is just filler.
- 22:21I feel like I'm in the I'm in a place where I would be happy
- 22:23with you know his use Rashford son and then I'd be happy with
- 22:26Olly Watkins. I'd be happy with ISAC.
- 22:28I'd be happy with Christopher and Cuckoo.
- 22:30So I'm I'm like you know I'd like maybe top 10 strikers and
- 22:34then after that I kind of agree like I I.
- 22:36I would just again like going back to the Liverpool thing.
- 22:38I would just hate to pick one of those guys as my first striker
- 22:41off the board. Well it's funny if you look at
- 22:44the top 10 strikers in the last year, two of them probably
- 22:47wanting to be in the league this year.
- 22:49So it really like goal scorer wise.
- 22:50So you had Harlan Kane, Tony Sala, Wilson Rashford, Ollie
- 22:55Marnelly, Odongada, Mitrovic. But like Tony's not going to be
- 23:00playing for six months, Mitrovic is probably out the door.
- 23:03So then you're left with like Ferguson from Bryan Jesus from
- 23:07Arsenal, Nunez from Liverpool. So you really don't have like a
- 23:11top ten. You've got like some Subs in
- 23:14there. So you say you you picked those
- 23:16up instead of like, obviously you wouldn't, but would you?
- 23:19I'm going further down the list of midfielders.
- 23:21Would you rather pick up like Ferguson instead of, say, Gibbs
- 23:25White? You know what I mean?
- 23:27Like would you rather pick him up for that?
- 23:30No, I think I'd probably go give.
- 23:31So I think you're right. Also for forwards, I feel like
- 23:34it's the position that is the largest point disparity from
- 23:37like the for example, like last year, I'm looking at it right
- 23:40now, Harry Kane had 624 points, the 10th highest going forward
- 23:44had half of that. So the dropoff is pretty
- 23:47significant. And then you have a bunch of
- 23:49people who are like around the 300 point race, 250 to 300,
- 23:52where you can kind of pick and choose them, get a player.
- 23:55Whereas for midfield it's more kind of closer together, so
- 23:59there's more higher tier player and it's a gradual drop off, so
- 24:01you could still get more quality people that will give you more
- 24:03points at the end of the year. Yeah, fair enough.
- 24:07Personally, think that I wanna get a striker in the first two
- 24:10rounds. I'm just there.
- 24:11I think that if that, if it doesn't fall that way, I'm
- 24:14probably not picking one up until a while back because I
- 24:17think I I'm think I'm skipping on the whole like Willie and
- 24:19Anthony Raheem, Sterling, Callen Wilson.
- 24:22Like I don't. I don't want to.
- 24:24That's not the area I'm trying to get a forwarded.
- 24:26You know, I wanna just, I'd rather just have some lottery
- 24:28picks. You know Rich Arlson, Nicholas
- 24:31trying to get Nicholas Jackson for Chelsea.
- 24:35Just like try and stock up on some midfielders and like a good
- 24:38defender and go that way. Yeah, it's the most scars
- 24:41position forwards. If you can't get something in
- 24:43the first round, then most likely you're not gonna get
- 24:46someone who's the lead. All right.
- 24:49So I kind of we kind of already talked about a little bit, but
- 24:51this new Man United striker, would you feel like he's an
- 24:54elite? Would he be considered an elite
- 24:55striker to you if he comes in? No.
- 24:59He's got nine goals and 32 games by Atlanta and Syria and that's
- 25:02a Syria. I don't think he's elite.
- 25:06He's not proving yet. He's young again.
- 25:08In a couple years from now when he starts understanding the
- 25:11English football and how how it works in the Premiership.
- 25:13Maybe it might get better, but I don't think he's worth
- 25:1764,000,000. Bloody hell.
- 25:20And does this Holland over all over again, I hope?
- 25:23You know what? Maybe.
- 25:24But Harlem was proven at least he was banging in goals left,
- 25:27right and Center for Dortmund, you know, I mean, and he was
- 25:29playing for a top team in Germany.
- 25:31This guy was playing him for Atlanta.
- 25:32He's not one of the best. It's not one of the worst
- 25:34things, but even one of the best things either when you think of
- 25:37stealing up. I have a question for you.
- 25:40If you if you're on the board and Brian and Bembo from
- 25:43Brentford is there and this new, this new United kid, Holland is
- 25:46there. Who?
- 25:48Who would you rather have? I don't know.
- 25:51And Wenbo is going to get you what, maybe 810 goals?
- 25:55This kid could have a freaking duck and not score anything.
- 25:58How many did where I wasn't Wengholst?
- 26:00How many did he get from Man United?
- 26:03Very few. I looked at his like points,
- 26:04Purry start and they were like Black will be low considering he
- 26:07played for United and he's a similar similar bill to way
- 26:11horse, but he's the big kid. He's 6 foot three.
- 26:15Is he going to be quick? Is he going to be in the six
- 26:18yard box trying to get headers? Is May night that team where
- 26:21they crossed the ball to the six yard box?
- 26:22I don't remember them doing it that much last season.
- 26:25It was more through balls in, you know what I mean, to
- 26:27Rashford or to whoever they had on the wing to Anthony.
- 26:30Have you guys watched a whole Gent play often or you haven't?
- 26:34I haven't watched him play, so that's what I'm saying.
- 26:36But I'm going by what I've seen on paper.
- 26:38Nine goals and 32 games isn't good, so.
- 26:41Do you think he's gonna score less than ten goals in the
- 26:43premiere? Yeah.
- 26:45OK, because I didn't watch the kid play a lot.
- 26:47Love his name. 63 Big physical player.
- 26:50I watched his highlights. This guy's just making every
- 26:53shot he makes. What the?
- 26:54All nine of them. All nine of them.
- 26:57All nine of them. He's pretty good link up play,
- 26:59His link up play is pretty good so.
- 27:02He does. He dribbles.
- 27:03Seems to be quick for his size moves.
- 27:06Well honestly I I I would draft him.
- 27:09I would. I'd rather draft him than let's
- 27:11say Anthony or Alvarez from Manchester City.
- 27:15Return return. Listen.
- 27:17If Kane stays, I'd rather have hold Gen.
- 27:20Than you'd rather have a hold Gen. than rich Charleston.
- 27:23If Kane stays, I agree. But if Kane leaves, would you
- 27:26rather have a Charleston? I probably would, but the
- 27:30problem with him is whenever he scores, if he takes his jersey
- 27:32off, he's just going to get a yellow 2 little fidget dots and
- 27:38then we get to see him dance. That's funny.
- 27:41That's a tough one, man. Like you said, May and I took a
- 27:43risk and and am I going to doubt him like 10:00 knows what he's
- 27:47doing. Like Eric knows what he's doing.
- 27:49He's building a team right now. So he didn't get what he again,
- 27:53though, did he really get what he wanted?
- 27:54Which I don't think he did. I think he scores 10 to 15
- 27:56goals. You you do.
- 27:59I would. I would make a bet with you that
- 28:01it's under 15 goals. But over 10, I'll make the bet
- 28:05under ten goals. I'll take the ten goal, but not.
- 28:08About 12 1/2. Let's make a Let's call the line
- 28:11at 12 1/2 goals. What do you think about that?
- 28:1311 1/2. But no, I can't do that, my
- 28:16accountant told me. I can't make that bet.
- 28:17How about 12:12 is a push? Let's do 12 over and under 12.
- 28:2112 is a push. Yeah.
- 28:23Wait, wait, wait. I got a question for you, Tiko.
- 28:25Only Watkins or or Hoyland? There's only one right answer.
- 28:28There's only one right answer. What Watkins?
- 28:32Yes, that's the right answer. He had fifteen goals on 6:00 and
- 28:346:00 last season in the Premiership.
- 28:36He's great. I think he's gonna, I think he's
- 28:38like, I think he might be the top.
- 28:40He might be like a top five checker.
- 28:42Well, he was six last year. OK, so I'm not saying anything
- 28:45that isn't. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 28:48Like, OK, how about this? I think he could be.
- 28:50Like the He could be. Top You could be right behind
- 28:53her in Holland, I think. I think he's that good.
- 28:55I think if solid drops off a little bit or there's a little
- 28:57more rotation in Liverpool Cane leaves, who else can really?
- 29:00Who could? You know?
- 29:02I think he's, he could be the guy.
- 29:04And he's still, he's not that old either.
- 29:06No, he's he's young. Yeah, I mean then looking at the
- 29:10forwards, I mean, other than that, there's some interesting
- 29:12thing. I think Rich Ralston gets really
- 29:13interesting if Cane leaves. I think he shoots up to third
- 29:16round, fourth round and the first round every second.
- 29:20Yeah. And then I think Diego dropped
- 29:23the I I mean honestly getting him like in the what the 5th,
- 29:276th, something like that. Like I don't even know around I
- 29:30that to me is almost more interesting than the other three
- 29:32Liverpool guys getting them them in the second round.
- 29:35You know getting that like because I just think that he
- 29:38could be you know he could just for where you pick him up and
- 29:41the amount of points he's gonna get.
- 29:42I think could be a better value than the better return than one
- 29:45of the than, like rolling the dice on one of the three
- 29:47Liverpool guys in the in the second round.
- 29:50All right, so let's keep moving unless you have something else
- 29:52to go. No, I I was, I wanted to touch
- 29:55bases on Julian Alvarez from Man City.
- 29:58Do you guys think he gets more playing time this coming year?
- 30:01Maybe some playing time on the wing?
- 30:03He's playing too much with Peps Door any, so I don't think so.
- 30:07What's that? Isn't he good?
- 30:09Isn't he going out? Pet store?
- 30:10Another one. First it was Deli Ali and now
- 30:13it's Julian Alvarez. I did not know that.
- 30:16Is that. Is that truth?
- 30:17Hey man, I get all the tea, bro. I get all the tea.
- 30:21Wow, that seems like just a bad idea going out with your coach's
- 30:25daughter. That is not just.
- 30:28I don't know if I was his manager or something.
- 30:29I would be like do not do that. I think it was Alexander.
- 30:35I think it was Alexander. Pato was dating the owner's EC
- 30:40Milan's owner's daughter. I think that's where they messed
- 30:42up his knee. Is that why?
- 30:44Is that why he's like, playing in obscurity in Brazil now he's
- 30:47got ruined? Pretty much, no.
- 30:50I I do think he gets more playing time this year and
- 30:53Alvarez, just because with Mara's leaving the right wing,
- 30:56it leaves open for maybe rotation and he could come on
- 31:00play, play some, get some minutes there.
- 31:02I know whenever Holland used to score hat trick in the first
- 31:05half they would put in Alvarez. He was good for a good goal or
- 31:08two. And he's one of those players
- 31:11that Pep wanted him on the squad.
- 31:13So usually when Pep gets someone, he gives him playing
- 31:16time, yeah. Yeah, it's just hard for me to
- 31:18like wrap my head around like Holland and Alvarez, both
- 31:22playing at the same time. Like I know they did that a
- 31:25little bit last year, you know? I know they played with a front
- 31:27through a little bit, but I don't know.
- 31:29I just, I I don't. I don't see it.
- 31:31I don't see him playing more than.
- 31:35I don't see him starting more than 1518 games.
- 31:38He's not. That's not Man City football.
- 31:39They don't play 2 up front like that.
- 31:42Striker like Harlan had to learn it.
- 31:43It took him a while. Don't get wrong, he's still back
- 31:45in goals at the beginning of the season.
- 31:46But you can see when he was coming back to come and retrieve
- 31:48the ball like deeper in the midfield he was getting yelled
- 31:51at by a pep because that's not his job.
- 31:54Don't cluster up the midfield. His job is to make runs and pull
- 31:57defenders left and right until that right ball goes in and he
- 32:00gets attacking. So playing two up front isn't
- 32:03going to work with the way Man City plays.
- 32:06Yeah, and I also think too, with an Alvarez, like, there's just
- 32:09so many games he's not gonna start and then you can't start
- 32:11him on your fantasy team if he's not starting the game, you know?
- 32:15So then you're just kind of in the spot where even if he does
- 32:17come on and score two goals, you don't get you and you're not
- 32:20starting him and you're just like, OK, sick like so.
- 32:22He might have good points by the end of the year, but it'll just
- 32:25be like it's impossible for you to trust.
- 32:28Using them, I think the one difference is if Holland gets
- 32:30injured, which last year he avoided any injury, but pretty
- 32:33much every year before that he's had injury issues.
- 32:36If Holland goes down for any period of time, Julian Alvarez
- 32:39is like a freaking slam dunk. Yeah.
- 32:43Yeah, well, I was thinking they might play him on the not two
- 32:45forwards, play Alvarez on the right side, so on the wing in
- 32:48the 433. Top in Mars's place.
- 32:54I thought it's something that PEP might experiment.
- 32:55I also just pulled out pictures of Peps.
- 32:58Daughter. Worth the risk.
- 32:59Worth the risk? Oh man, I don't think he plays
- 33:05in the wing. Man, you got phone in.
- 33:07Why would you not just put phone in there instead if you're gonna
- 33:10rotate? Yeah, yeah, Phone in.
- 33:12You have that guy, Cole Palmer, who played really well for
- 33:14England, who's really coming up. I think he's gonna get a lot of
- 33:16playing time. I also, I think City does is
- 33:19going to sign one more guy. I think they're going to sign
- 33:21one more player. Didn't fall out of rotation last
- 33:24year. A little bit, but I mean he had
- 33:27like appendicitis or something. He had some health thing that
- 33:29really set him back and then it kind of he never quite got back
- 33:33like fully into the squad after that.
- 33:35Mancy's going to buy someone else because they all they got
- 33:37so far. If you look at who they bought,
- 33:38it's just cover church they and if you look at look at how many
- 33:41people they've given up and let go, it's only cover church they
- 33:45brought in. So there's gonna be some money
- 33:47being spent. Money being spent.
- 33:51I know. I feel like there's, you know,
- 33:53there's gonna be a lot of last minute transfers this year,
- 33:57which I think will just be chaotic for the beginning of the
- 34:00season. Okay.
- 34:01Let's kind of slide over to the midfield.
- 34:04When you look at the midfield here, I think there's that here.
- 34:07The first year is Bruno Fernandez, Kevin De Bruyne.
- 34:10Can't really argue those two. In that second tier, there's
- 34:14like Saka, Odegard, Madison Martinelli.
- 34:17Are they? I think they're kind of, I think
- 34:20really should could be. And you can make an argument for
- 34:22Foden, maybe, maybe not. Matoma, I think is interesting.
- 34:27You don't have stock as Tier 1. I think he just doesn't make
- 34:30the. Car I think he's like in that
- 34:32next level for me. I don't know.
- 34:34I think you could. I could see it you can You think
- 34:36he's stock is up there with KDB and Bruno Tico in your mind?
- 34:39I I. Think so.
- 34:40Just based off the performance last year, he started picking up
- 34:43more goal scoring towards the end of the year and I think he's
- 34:46just gonna get more comfortable, more confident and I do think he
- 34:50will produce as well. Similar with Odega, Odega's was
- 34:53producing about putting up good numbers as well, but.
- 34:56His career arc has been kind of interesting.
- 34:58It's kind of been a lot up, up and down and injuries as well.
- 35:01So I'm a fan of Odegard, but because of that fact, I would
- 35:04put it hit on Tier 2, but I would put soccer, definitely
- 35:07Tier 1. OK, so Soccer missed another
- 35:09penalty in preseason. Do you think if he's off
- 35:13penalties, does that change your mind at all if he if he gets off
- 35:17penalties, if he's someone else starts taking penalties for
- 35:18Arsenal? It all depends.
- 35:21I don't know how many penalties goals he had last year.
- 35:24Yeah. If it was, yeah.
- 35:27If it was like 5 of them, then you know, obviously that's a
- 35:29huge difference if it was one or two, but who else would take
- 35:32their penalties? There would probably be what
- 35:34Jesus if. Yeah, I think there's several
- 35:36players. Odegaard.
- 35:37Jesus, Yeah, I mean, Jacca. What?
- 35:42Whatever. He's gone now.
- 35:44So no, it's it's it's just more different between tier one and
- 35:48Tier 2. We know it's already like it's
- 35:51such a tight difference. It's not, it's not a disrespect
- 35:54to any of those players in Tier 2.
- 35:55They're still like class that matters.
- 35:57Being in Tier 2 would make sense also.
- 36:01But you know what I mean? Like it could be across.
- 36:03It's all about form. But the ones you know that are
- 36:05gonna perform, we can we carry tier one and Tier 2.
- 36:11And this kind of goes back to what I was talking about as far
- 36:13as the midfield being more deep. Whereas I feel like if you get
- 36:16someone from Tier 2 for as a midfielder, you're still very
- 36:19happy, whereas the Tier 2 forward is gonna be significant
- 36:22drop off from Tier 1 to Tier 2. Whereas the midfield it's more
- 36:25the difference is more closer to each other.
- 36:27Yeah, I agree. I think it's like even I think
- 36:29we're forward just like tier one through three, I'm kind of tier
- 36:33one and two. I'm happy.
- 36:34I think with the midfield, it's like Tier 4.
- 36:36I'm not even mad like. You know like if I, if I get if
- 36:39I go like Ford Defender and then from third round comes around
- 36:42and like Morgan Gibbs, White is there.
- 36:44Like sure, I'll take it knowing that I have like a rock solid
- 36:47Ford and like Trent, you know, like I'd be happy with that.
- 36:51Yeah, there's a couple there's a couple like Tillermans for
- 36:55Villa. I wouldn't mind picking them up
- 36:56a little bit later you know what I mean?
- 36:58Like new team. I know it's a new team and
- 37:00everything, but the way that Villas going and with Emory,
- 37:03Emory playing Emory ball like him, DRB for Villa, also like
- 37:07Villas. Villas gonna be looking good,
- 37:09man. After, if they can get like
- 37:11gelled and connected, it's gonna be a good team and some of those
- 37:14players are gonna go late and there's gonna be another gem in
- 37:16there that someone's gonna pick up late, like in the 1415 round.
- 37:19I think it's gonna put up some numbers.
- 37:22Yeah, you're hot on Villa. I'm, I'm Rob.
- 37:24I'm just look at the players they picked up.
- 37:25It's just and it's Emery. Emery.
- 37:28You know, Emery in Europe like he's successful.
- 37:30The only team he didn't do well was Arsenal.
- 37:34That's the only one by everyone else.
- 37:38I have a question for you guys of the mids that are either
- 37:42joining a new team or are on a team that has a new coach who
- 37:46from like their draw, like from where they're being drafted,
- 37:49like around, who do you think is the safest and who do you think
- 37:51is the riskiest? So it's guys like Madison Barnes
- 37:55that knew it. Liverpool player Slovasli.
- 37:58I don't know. Is that right?
- 37:59Mount McAllister? Rice Gulsevski, Tilamans.
- 38:05I think Madison's probably a really big bet cuz you know what
- 38:08he does in the Premiership? He's gonna do that regardless of
- 38:10the team playing well or playing or playing badly.
- 38:13We saw that at Leicester for years.
- 38:14He's probably gonna be a safe bet.
- 38:16The risky ones probably gonna be Kulasetski cuz he was injured
- 38:19half the season last season so you don't know what's going to
- 38:22happen. And Michaelis is, in my opinion,
- 38:24is another risky one because is he going to be as productive at
- 38:26Liverpool or be given the chance to be as productive with all
- 38:30that talent around him where he doesn't have to do but like
- 38:33there's some, there's some good ones in there do.
- 38:37You think Madison's going to score as many goals for
- 38:39Tottenham as he did last year? I don't think he's going to
- 38:42score as many goals, but I might do.
- 38:43I think they have more assists. I think he will.
- 38:47See I'm on the opposite and I think McAllister is a safe bed
- 38:50because I just cop says some Favors midfielders and with the
- 38:56I think he's gonna have a lot of more assists and club just has a
- 38:58history of getting more out of midfielders.
- 39:00Some of the midfielders he's called managed especially back
- 39:03in when he was in Dortmund. All of them had career years
- 39:06under under his management, under his spell and they go
- 39:09somewhere else and they kind of fall off, so.
- 39:11I do like Klopp as a manager, is probably one of my all time
- 39:14favorite, one of my all time favorite managers and I like his
- 39:17system. I think McAllister will is for
- 39:20me. McAllister is a safe bet.
- 39:21So then how do you guys feel about Solbasly?
- 39:24He's going in like he's going like the third round.
- 39:26He's like going very early in a lot of drafts I've been looking
- 39:29at. To me, that's like crazy.
- 39:31Third round, yeah, he's a good player, but.
- 39:35He's a good player but I just when I look at what how
- 39:37Liverpool. Like play their midfield.
- 39:42I'm not seeing like a ton of goal scoring opportunities for
- 39:46those midfielders. Just with the front three they
- 39:47have. I think it's going to be a lot
- 39:48more of an industrial role. I just to me he's risky for
- 39:51where he's getting drafted. I think I look at him and I look
- 39:54at Mount and I look at McAllister and I'm like, yeah,
- 39:57the names are big, they're exciting transfers.
- 40:00I I think I passed on all three of those guys.
- 40:06Yeah, and for the if you're saying they're going and turning
- 40:08around, I I wouldn't. I'm always hesitant to draft a
- 40:14player that comes to the new team, new league, especially
- 40:17coming to the EPL where everything is just faster, more,
- 40:20more pressure, more physical. So I'm more hesitant on drafting
- 40:25that. I'd rather take a chance than
- 40:26someone who played it in the premiere last year and just
- 40:28draft them instead of just taking a gamble on that,
- 40:31especially in the third round. Yeah, the one that I am
- 40:33interested in is Harvey Barnes. I think he is good and I think
- 40:37that newcast teams. Exciting and I think he's gonna
- 40:39be a a good pick up and if you can get him in the fourth, fifth
- 40:42round like Oh my God, that is a that is a come up.
- 40:46There's a couple more man like Redmond's back in the league.
- 40:49He's playing for Burnley. He's just come back.
- 40:53Nathan Redmond. Yeah, Nathan Redmond's back,
- 40:54man. You see if he classified as a
- 40:57mid because he attention plays like a forward.
- 40:59I think he classified as a mid this season.
- 41:01I think he played a deeper role when he went, went to work.
- 41:03Was he at Greece? And then Dan Zuma, I think
- 41:06that's another one. Don Zuma.
- 41:09We had him at Tottenham for a little bit.
- 41:11He's at Evan. I think he could be a sleeper
- 41:15also. He can produce, create.
- 41:17So we'll see I. Think also, we talked about it
- 41:21earlier, but Drussard, I think that's very interesting.
- 41:26I think he's a good player to add and stash.
- 41:28He's going to get the playing time and if one of those people
- 41:31gets injured or someone falls out of form, you know he's going
- 41:33to produce. You mentioned mount mount to
- 41:36someone I would not touch Declan Rice.
- 41:39I don't think just defensive midfielders bring a lot of
- 41:41value. So unless you get him like super
- 41:43late or you're an Arsenal fan, makes sense, but right.
- 41:47So I think rights would just get more points this year than last
- 41:50year just based off if he's on a better team they're gonna get
- 41:52more wins, more clean sheets. So that's just gonna add to his
- 41:55point total. But as far as like contribution
- 41:58contributing to a goals assist not gonna be much of a
- 42:00difference. What mid, what mid in the first
- 42:03like, you know, 1520 guys are you like just like there's no
- 42:08way of touching them, Is there anyone that you're just like
- 42:10there's just total hands off like there's just no interest
- 42:13whatsoever. Well, like tanali.
- 42:17I love tanali. Yeah, but he's not going in the
- 42:201st 20 minutes. You know what?
- 42:21He's on nowhere. It was the 1st 20 minutes.
- 42:24Let me look. At like 10.
- 42:27Gibbs, White, Elisa Ezza, Jared Bowen, Harvey Barnes, Silva, Sly
- 42:34McNeil, Mason. Now Kulasefsky, Pascal Gross,
- 42:37Likesy McAllister. Like Tanali's not even in the
- 42:39top. Probably's like not even the top
- 42:4230, I feel like. Have players.
- 42:45I'm gonna drop midfielders, I'm gonna drop.
- 42:46No cuz he plays so he plays so far back.
- 42:48He's like a like a 6/8 when you can get like Trossard, you can
- 42:52get Andreas Pereira, even Alex Awobi on freaking Everton.
- 42:56I'd rather have him than Tenali. Yeah, I like Awobi's good, but,
- 43:00like, would you not? I know we spoke a lot about not
- 43:04picking up defensive midfielders, but would we not
- 43:06even look at picking up defensive midfielders?
- 43:09Like for anything. No, you you definitely wanna
- 43:14they're they're gonna be drafted.
- 43:15But I I don't think you know they're gonna be the first
- 43:18midfielders you draft. I think you get to defensive
- 43:20midfielders when you already have maybe 3 midfielders on your
- 43:23team. Your lineup is kind of set and
- 43:25you're building your bench. I know I had cast in mirror last
- 43:28year he was he was producing points.
- 43:31It's just he was also getting red cars left and right which it
- 43:34was straight dressed too. So he missed I think like five
- 43:36or six games just because of a straight dread that he got.
- 43:40So that's when I would get Rodri.
- 43:44I would also draft him as my you know, 4th or 5th, mid, 5th mid,
- 43:49not 4th. And same thing with Rice.
- 43:51I think the defensive midfielders are should be around
- 43:53like your 5th midfielder. I agree.
- 43:56I think the the trick is with midfielders is you kind of want
- 43:58to like hack it and you want to get the midfielders that are
- 44:00really more like forwards, right?
- 44:01That should those be, should be the ones you're really looking
- 44:04at. Yeah.
- 44:05And like, I'd rather have one of those guys like Andres Pereira
- 44:09like. Like that than I would like some
- 44:12hard working six or you know or even like an 8.
- 44:17You know, I'd rather have like Jaden Sancho than a lot of like
- 44:19other guys just because you know that when he plays it's gonna be
- 44:22playing essentially as a forward, you know, even though
- 44:25it's classified as a midfielder. Yeah so those guys are way
- 44:29higher up than me. So is there anyone like the top
- 44:32kind of going back to that question, is there anyone in the
- 44:33top 15/20/25 that you're like? I look at it and I'm like, I
- 44:37have no desire, like Mason Mount.
- 44:39I have no desire to draft slowly, March.
- 44:42I'm interested in, but it's just like he would have to drop a
- 44:44little bit for me to be interested.
- 44:46So let's lie, I'm probably not gonna draft.
- 44:48I'm not gonna draft him in the in the third round.
- 44:51I would stay away from a Kuloweski he was.
- 44:54I think his average draft is showing right now it's 4 * 40
- 44:58first, which I I would I would stay away from that one and so
- 45:03as you're as the hot spirits but what do you.
- 45:06Think stay away from for now. It'll be a nice little gem later
- 45:10on. But if he's informed and stays
- 45:13fit. But yeah, it could have be
- 45:15probably stay away from. He's just after that first great
- 45:18season he had it just faded away last season, mostly due to
- 45:22injury, but he could never get back into the team.
- 45:24But whenever he wasn't there it was quite exciting so.
- 45:27We also don't know how Ange Pasakoglu is going to like play
- 45:30like. Is he going to be playing as
- 45:31like a like a wide forward or is he going to be playing as like
- 45:34an 8? You know, like cool stuffs.
- 45:36Yeah. I'm not sure how what his like
- 45:38position is gonna be under Ange. Well.
- 45:40He's gonna play the 433, If you really think about it like he's
- 45:44gonna obviously he's gonna be sun on one side and it's gonna
- 45:47be like Rich Harleson or Cooley on the right is my opinion.
- 45:53So is Madison playing in the He's playing as as the one of
- 45:56the as like the one of the three?
- 45:57Yeah, I think. He plays more in the second, the
- 45:59first three, so you're gonna have.
- 46:02Matters. I don't even know if we're going
- 46:04to even have Fleiberg at the end of the season.
- 46:06He's he's been wanting to leave so and Benton call when he gets
- 46:09back. So that gives more opportunity
- 46:12for him to create and then we need that holder midfielder And
- 46:14then obviously if when Benton call gets back, he's the one
- 46:17who's going to be more like an 8 where he's a box to box and
- 46:20matters will be more forward. I would also stay away from Enzo
- 46:22Fernandez. You could just never trust an
- 46:24Enzo. They're not reliable, can't
- 46:27trust them. Enzos Just stay away from Enzos.
- 46:31That's my dress advice. I like Enzo Fernandez.
- 46:35The fuck you. I I get it too with him like I
- 46:42don't know. I just watch the Chelsea games
- 46:43on right now and he just missed like a fricking sitter but I
- 46:47don't know I just he's he hasn't.
- 46:49Like we'll see if poach can pooch can unlock him but I he
- 46:53hasn't. He does a really good job in the
- 46:54midfield but he's not doing a really good job and like this
- 46:56like. Making impactful like goals,
- 46:59creating goal scoring opportunities.
- 47:01So yeah, so we'll see. OK next next kind of thing is
- 47:05who are you like who do you. So like I think when you also
- 47:08when you start looking at the midfield, you start looking at
- 47:11players like OK, if someone went down like this guy would be like
- 47:15Next up it would be really good. So I look at like Trosar, I look
- 47:18at Jane Sancho, you know some of those guys.
- 47:21I think same with like like a Kulesevsky if like if song goes
- 47:25down or something. You know this even Mount if like
- 47:29Rashford goes out and play, he plays on the left.
- 47:31Who is? Who is the most opportunity from
- 47:34an injury to be like a top 20 guy, do you think?
- 47:38You already said it, Trotsod. I think it's true.
- 47:41Sorry. Yeah, it has to be Trotsod.
- 47:42Sancho, I thinks are freaking amazing play.
- 47:44Just had some bad luck at Man United, man.
- 47:47But if this Hoylin kid doesn't work out, like, what are they
- 47:50gonna do? Put Rashford up front, most
- 47:52probably. And then that just frees up
- 47:54Sancho to play on that wing. Along with Anthony.
- 47:56So both of those are really big shots and I think they're good
- 48:00shots. Julian Alvarez Julian Alvarez
- 48:05But he's a forward that yeah Alvarez if how long gets into
- 48:10you guys think with Harvard's we get the opportunity if someone
- 48:12went down or. I mean I I'd almost, I think I'd
- 48:14rather go Trosar than have its just where they're getting
- 48:17drafted. I think I'd rather gamble on
- 48:19that someone going down or him just getting him battling his
- 48:23way in to play. This because especially if
- 48:25Habits is playing like an 8 and Trust starts playing like ahead
- 48:27of him as like a left winger. How about Almaron from Newcastle
- 48:33if, say, Isaac goes down? Yeah, I mean, Almaron's pretty
- 48:39exciting. It just it's I think for him
- 48:40it's always just a matter of is he gonna get enough games?
- 48:43Right. And like, it's gonna start
- 48:45enough games because he seems like he comes on a lot as like a
- 48:47sub, as like a impact player, and then he scores like a great
- 48:51goal. But it's because he came on in
- 48:53the 65th minute and ran past three people.
- 48:57Yeah, he had a great start to the last season line, then just
- 48:59tailed off after the World Cup. He he couldn't get his form
- 49:02back, but Alma's been at new cost so long, he's like a staple
- 49:06over there. You guys think Newcastle players
- 49:10are going to produce the same numbers they did last year
- 49:13because when you look at the, they're starting 11, almost
- 49:16everyone produced very high at their position.
- 49:20Obviously they had a great year. You guys think it's those
- 49:22players are kind of not risky to draft again.
- 49:25You think they're going to be able to produce as a team,
- 49:27another top 4? I feel like it's.
- 49:30I think that's a really good point.
- 49:31I think that you fall into the trap of looking at what happened
- 49:34last season and not looking at what happened like year over
- 49:36year and. And I think some of you over,
- 49:40you overvalue certain things because of that.
- 49:43So I don't think I agree. I don't think that every single
- 49:45one of them is gonna be like, amazing.
- 49:47I think their defense might not be like, you know, like having
- 49:50Dan Byrne play left back for you all season.
- 49:52Like Love Dan Byrne had him on my team last year, was
- 49:56monumental for me. But like I don't know if he's
- 49:59gonna be the guy. Yeah I I think this you know
- 50:01mentioning defense it might be even a good transition to go to
- 50:04our to our defensive list. And I was when I was going doing
- 50:08my research they had I think their center bag was rated top
- 50:12ten last year total points. Yeah.
- 50:15Which is kind of crazy for center bag and obviously they
- 50:17had a tree pair he was ranked second.
- 50:20So just those numbers are just I, I I find it hard to believe
- 50:24that they're going to be able to have another season like they
- 50:27did last year. And not only it's not just that
- 50:30they're not gonna play as well, I also think the teams around
- 50:33them got better as well just to be overall with the additions
- 50:36they've made. So I don't think they'll finish
- 50:39top 4. Yeah, I feel, I kind of agree.
- 50:42I think they're also then playing in Europe.
- 50:44It's gonna make it harder, just cuz they're just gonna have more
- 50:47games. More games, yeah.
- 50:48Also more expectations. Some players never had
- 50:51expectation to be successful. That also makes a difference as
- 50:54well. Yeah, but they've the, the fans
- 50:57have been, honestly, they when they first got bored, they
- 50:59thought they were going to spray all the way out.
- 51:00But I think they've been like literally coached to understand
- 51:04this is a project. This is for the long term.
- 51:06This isn't just for one season. Like players like Bemarez, who I
- 51:10think plays amazing for Newcastle.
- 51:12Hope and goal, which he's, he had an amazing scene.
- 51:15He was a good goalkeeper before, but having a good defense in
- 51:17front of him is improving. You're talking about Tripia.
- 51:20Is he going to perform again? He's been performing for years.
- 51:23I don't see him dropping off. They added, they added bond,
- 51:27which is a little bit of depth to help them out.
- 51:30I know they just got rid of maximum to, but that didn't
- 51:33really do anything for him. Perfectly honest.
- 51:35That guy had no contributions, wasn't able to get the ball in
- 51:38the box. Another one.
- 51:39I just like to wave his feet around and try to drill around
- 51:41players. I think they're building an idea
- 51:44at Newcastle, a different way of winning and playing Sol in the
- 51:48back and then building from the back to the front.
- 51:51So I think they're gonna have another good season.
- 51:54I think it's not a bad shout to actually have a few of those
- 51:56players. You're not gonna have every
- 51:57single one of them. But I think Gumar is having
- 51:59another good season. Isaac Tripier, Pope Sharp,
- 52:03Botman. I think they're all good players
- 52:04to have on your team. Yeah, I think that.
- 52:08I think the defense is where I kind of agree with you on the
- 52:10the midfield attack. I think the defense is where I
- 52:12wouldn't. I wouldn't be looking at other
- 52:14than tripier. I wouldn't be looking at their
- 52:16defenders as like trying to drop them super high.
- 52:20No, not high. Yeah.
- 52:21I think that's but I agree with you.
- 52:22I think with the forwards. So I my I was kind of starting
- 52:25to look at like the defenders and you know outside of that
- 52:28like you know obviously when you look at the defenders it's Trent
- 52:31and Trip your here in trip your and Trent Alexander Arnold,
- 52:35they're like, you know they're in their own level.
- 52:37They're in their own kind of stratosphere as defenders go.
- 52:40And then there's like those and then there's like five or six
- 52:42names that are like either good or right or left back.
- 52:45So you're interested in like the Reese, James, Luke Shaw?
- 52:48Stupion from Brighton. Pedro Poro, potentially.
- 52:51Andy Robertson. Ben Chill.
- 52:52Well, and then after that, kind of like those eight guys, like
- 52:57I'm kind of like everything else is just like a soup to me, just
- 53:01like a. Blue Shore Johnstone.
- 53:03Yeah, like Shaw, Shaw's in that good group.
- 53:06But like the Johnstone's Van Dyke Shar and then you get it's
- 53:09like, I just feel like there's not a lot of outside of those
- 53:12like 8 right and left backs. There's just not a lot of people
- 53:16that I'm excited about and I guess part of that is there's
- 53:18two things. One is there's less teams
- 53:21playing in a wingback system than there has been so in the
- 53:23last few years. Teams like Tottenham, Chelsea,
- 53:25Brighton all are playing with wingback.
- 53:27So these guys are getting way higher up the pitch and making
- 53:29way more goal contributions. That's happening less.
- 53:31The other thing is that the the like left back or the right back
- 53:35is dropping into like a CDM position more, which is then
- 53:38forcing the other back on the other side to play more central
- 53:41and not allowing them to get as high.
- 53:43So I think like. I'm kind of what I'm asking you
- 53:46guys is do you feel like defenders the left like in the
- 53:49past we were so relying on left backs and right backs, do you
- 53:52feel like we are still as reliant on?
- 53:56Them it's only going to be if they're actually in a good team
- 53:59that doesn't concede goals. So not relying as in, I'm gonna
- 54:02pick him my first eight, maybe even 10 picks.
- 54:06They might go as far as past to my 11th pick because just like
- 54:10goalkeepers, unless they're an elite goalkeeper.
- 54:14I'm not going to pick him up because I don't know if they're
- 54:16going to let him go. So like Pope is probably
- 54:17honestly he's probably going to be one of the top three along
- 54:20with Alison Edison and Goal. But every other goalkeeper after
- 54:24that is just is is rush and roulette.
- 54:27I don't know how many goals they're going to let in that
- 54:28game. You know what I mean?
- 54:30Same with defenders. How many of those, how many of
- 54:32those Senate backs or wing right, wing back, left, left
- 54:35wing backs are going to have 10 sheets and going to give you
- 54:36that extra point at the end of the game?
- 54:39You're gonna get more more points from your midfielders and
- 54:41your forwards and they're the ones you're gonna go for.
- 54:43Yeah. And defenders.
- 54:44It's the I think it's the easiest position to kind of have
- 54:46a rule rule that just kind of pick and choose the matchups,
- 54:50play the matchups. There's always defenders on
- 54:51there. You could pick like someone like
- 54:54Veron might be you know available in like the later
- 54:56rounds. You could just have him on the
- 54:58team. He'll give you like you know 6-7
- 55:00eight points maybe. Whereas I you rather just if
- 55:04you're not gonna get like the top defenders you picked, you'd
- 55:07rather just stock heavy on midfielders forwards and then
- 55:10just play the matchups on the on the defense.
- 55:13The one dependent that I'm kind of curious on is Sergio Gomez.
- 55:19Man City got him last year. He played like half the year he
- 55:23likes going forward. I don't know.
- 55:25I think if he gets the opportunity to play, I think he
- 55:28would be productive, especially if they play the three defenders
- 55:32and just have like make wingbacks.
- 55:34I think that's that's where he would probably be his best
- 55:39position and put up the put up numbers that could be relevant
- 55:42in fantasy you. Don't think he's gonna be doing
- 55:44the same thing he did with Stones last season, where Stone
- 55:46was moving up into that midfield, I'm I'm not sure.
- 55:49Just this Man City team I feel like changed the most from the
- 55:53starting, from the main rotation players.
- 55:55So I think Pep is gonna tinker around, see what works for him.
- 55:59I mean, last year in the middle of it, he just changed his
- 56:01formation so it'd be curious again.
- 56:03It's someone that it's like a gamble.
- 56:05I wouldn't draft until my last two picks, the very late around,
- 56:11but I feel like it's worth to draft him and keep him for a
- 56:14couple of weeks. See, he might surprise people
- 56:16and just produce. Yeah, look at John Stones.
- 56:18I think that's like the I think John Stones and Trent and
- 56:22Alexander Arnold are doing very similar things, right where
- 56:24they're. Slotting into that CDM role, but
- 56:27I think the difference is, is Trent Alexander Arnold's like a
- 56:3010 times better soccer player so he's he can spray the ball
- 56:33around. John Stones is good don't get me
- 56:35wrong. But like, I'm just saying like
- 56:36what Trent does is like, you know, he's still creating
- 56:39opportunities where John Stones is like holding the midfield and
- 56:42again, you're look here did. You not see John Stones like
- 56:45rushing up the middle of that field a few times this season,
- 56:48He looked. Like he looked like the Tin Man
- 56:49just walking up there. He's walking down the elbows
- 56:51wherever the goals doing that, you know.
- 56:54Alexander Arnold, like I think in that CDM role is like
- 56:57phenomenal and sprays the ball like crazy, creates
- 56:59opportunities where. But I still think Johnstone's is
- 57:02interesting. I think he's probably of all
- 57:03this because he's getting like so many more touches on the
- 57:05ball. I think he's still an
- 57:08interesting play, but I think Alexander Arnold's like the
- 57:10exception. Not the rule as far as as far as
- 57:12that goes, but like, do you guys, do you, when you look at
- 57:15like full and full backs who last year were getting really
- 57:17high at the pitch? Like I I I'm not super
- 57:21interested like I just you know as much as I they're exciting
- 57:23and they're fun to watch like folds.
- 57:25The lower level team I think they're gonna struggle this
- 57:27year. I think they've had not the best
- 57:29preseason, not super interested that you know who else is there
- 57:33really like Natty Cash on Villa. It may be interesting, but as
- 57:36far as like right and left backs, there's just not a lot of
- 57:38people. And I think center backs is such
- 57:40a crapshoot because like every year we've played there's
- 57:43different center backs that are like in the top, you know,
- 57:46they're not like. That finished highest, there's,
- 57:49it doesn't seem like there's like a total level of
- 57:50consistency from center backs like you know you're gonna get.
- 57:53Yeah for center backs you just play the let's say if you know
- 57:56it's a good team playing against the lower C team, you just draft
- 57:59play them you know they're gonna win hopefully a clean sheet.
- 58:03But as far as like contribute, contributing goals, assist is
- 58:06very, very low. Tell you right now I'm not
- 58:08playing more than three, three defenders on my team.
- 58:11I've left my lesson from last year.
- 58:12I'm not playing more than three defenders on my team unless
- 58:15they're. Like 4-5 of the best defenders
- 58:18in the league where they got clean sheets left, right and
- 58:19center. Yeah, I think so.
- 58:21Then with that kind of thought in mind, like if you don't get
- 58:24one of those top eight guys, you know, I think, like, I think to
- 58:27me, like that eighth spot, like that page report, Andy
- 58:30Robertson, Ben Chill. Well then there's like a line
- 58:33and then everyone after that, I'm kind of like like I'm not
- 58:35gonna waste a pick. And then, are you like, are you
- 58:38good to wait until like the 6th, 7th round before drafting a
- 58:41defender? Like, would you go 7 rounds
- 58:43without a defender? You feel good about that?
- 58:47Enzo's nodding his head because uncertain.
- 58:50Well, if I can get, if I can get midfielders and forwards that
- 58:53are gonna be contributing now, free kick takers, set piece
- 58:56takers, whoever that is, I'm gonna take them over cuz they
- 59:00have more opportunity to give me points.
- 59:02I'm more likely to get a winger from Luton than I am a defender,
- 59:06cuz I know they're gonna be running up and down that field.
- 59:08Especially against lower teams that they won't be in my first
- 59:10lineup, but at least they'll be in the rotation, you know what I
- 59:13mean? So I don't know a lumen player.
- 59:15Do you guys know a lumen player? I just know their stadium's
- 59:18amazing. Have you guys seen their
- 59:19stadium? No, I haven't.
- 59:21You have to go through someone's half, from my understanding, to
- 59:24get into their stadium. Not quite, but like, pretty
- 59:27much, yeah. The only Luton player that I'm
- 59:30kind of like, that's on my Raiders at Carlton Morris, who's
- 59:32a forward, he's our striker. He scored like 20 goals Austria
- 59:35for them last season. But it's another.
- 59:37Pooky, Yeah, another Pooky. But those are those are the
- 59:41strikers to me that are interesting.
- 59:43Like someone's gonna have to score goals for Luton.
- 59:45Like, maybe. I mean, maybe they won't score
- 59:47any goals all season, but no. But to answer a question, Keith,
- 59:51I'm this year I'm gonna go with the same thought processes and
- 59:56so just played three defenders. No need to play more than that.
- 59:59Yeah I the one thing about Defenders, it's like it's just
- 1:00:02it's the clean sheet thing so you could have the defender
- 1:00:05could have a great game but if he doesn't get that close clean
- 1:00:07sheet points it's like it's not gonna be you're not gonna get
- 1:00:10the the full value from him the stuff tough in that sense.
- 1:00:15All right. I think we're just about out of
- 1:00:17time. This was episode three of draft
- 1:00:20off sides. I'm with Tico and Enzo.
- 1:00:23My name is Keith and thanks for listening.
