- 0:01Hey everybody, welcome to the good morning from the Chicken
- 0:04Coop podcast. My name is Kim Johnson and I am
- 0:07a mastermindset, coach, creative strategist, and also happen to
- 0:10be a farmer. This is my chicken coop and I
- 0:12come out here every day to record a podcast to teach
- 0:16distinctions, possibilities, new ways of thinking, and just bring
- 0:20some joy into the world. So welcome to the coop and let's
- 0:23start your day off in a fantastic way.
- 0:27Hey everybody. Good morning.
- 0:29You are actually with me inside of my garage while I am getting
- 0:35ready to plant seeds this morning.
- 0:37More seeds. I've been planting seeds and I
- 0:39have the opportunity to plant about 450 seeds if I plant them
- 0:45in the larger containers and I could double that if I went down
- 0:48to the smaller sides. I just haven't decided.
- 0:51And a lot of it's flowers. So for those of you thinking I'm
- 0:54planting all vegetables, I'm not.
- 0:55I have a lot of vegetable seeds planted.
- 0:57Probably we'll end up with like 200 plants that are vegetables.
- 1:03However, the rest of them will be flowers.
- 1:06So why am I talking about seeds? Well, the the Buddhist monk
- 1:10Tyknahan is very famous for talking about how you have to be
- 1:15in right thinking. And he talks about the words
- 1:18right a lot. At first that used to rub me the
- 1:22wrong way because I'd be like, well, is it right or is it right
- 1:26for him, or is it just right in general?
- 1:29But over time of studying his, his, his, his work on Buddhism,
- 1:34I've really come to understand it.
- 1:36And in Buddhism in general, that right thinking means it's moving
- 1:40you towards what you're looking for.
- 1:41And that right can be different for other for people.
- 1:44Some things are not right for some people and they're right
- 1:46for others. Just like me digging in the dirt
- 1:48is clearly not right for some of my friends who would never touch
- 1:51dirt. And then there's me, who's
- 1:53always in the dirt. And that's right thinking for
- 1:56me. But anyway, back to the seeds.
- 1:58So this morning I'm here and I'm getting ready to do some
- 2:02flowers, and I pick up a package of cilantro and coriander seeds.
- 2:09But cilantro is the outcome unless you let it go to seed.
- 2:11And then we change the name to coriander.
- 2:13It's very funny, but I have this package and I have one from one
- 2:18company and one from another. And I thought to myself, jeez, I
- 2:22was very diligent this year. I paid attention to order from
- 2:26just this one particular company that for, for certain herbs
- 2:30because they don't bolt in the heat.
- 2:32And I was really paying attention to temperature
- 2:35conditions. This is a very big shift for me
- 2:38because normally I'd be like, oh, let's try it and see.
- 2:40But this year I'm looking for, for proficiency and making sure
- 2:44I'm doing the right thing for myself, an outcome as well as
- 2:47the plants and possibility. So I see this package and I flip
- 2:51it over and I start comparing the notes between the two of
- 2:54them. And I look and one of them says,
- 2:58OK, if this was packed for the 2024 season.
- 3:02And then one of them says it was packed for 2025.
- 3:05And it confirmed that on my list, I, I had the ones that I
- 3:10wanted to for 2024, 2025. I, this 2024 one was a leftover
- 3:15from last year, clearly. And I just didn't plant it.
- 3:19Now here's where it gets really interesting.
- 3:21Ticknahan is also talking about a lot about watering the correct
- 3:26seeds. In your mind, what's going to
- 3:28flourish is what you give attention to and what you feed
- 3:32and what you water, which is perfect for.
- 3:36It's exactly what I teach my clients all the time.
- 3:38You have to cultivate, you have to choose.
- 3:40You have to really work on the right thinking for yourself.
- 3:45So here I am with these two packages of seeds in my hands
- 3:47this morning very early and I'm looking at them and I'm saying,
- 3:51well, I want those seeds from 2024 to have a chance.
- 3:56I definitely want them to not be stuck in a package.
- 3:59I want them to have a chance. Just because someone said they
- 4:03were packed for 2024 does not mean that they are not going to
- 4:07be successful. And on the other hand, my brain
- 4:10is going, yes, but this is the, this is what we bought these
- 4:14seeds from high mowing for because 2025 is supposed to be
- 4:17this. And we know that their seeds are
- 4:19super successful. They're organic, they're super
- 4:21clean. We know.
- 4:22And in my head, I have this argument going on between two
- 4:26versions of myself. And both of them are very
- 4:28positive versions. And my positive versions are
- 4:31arguing. They're having this debate about
- 4:34which ones we should cultivate, which ones we should plant,
- 4:37which ones we should care for. And then in steps, my
- 4:40imagination, my creativity runs to the front of the bus and
- 4:44says, well, why don't we just plan both?
- 4:47And I immediately recognize that now I've got a a, the duality of
- 4:52conversation going on in my head is off the chart.
- 4:55And then it becomes the practical certainty girl
- 4:57standing there with her clipboard having a conversation
- 5:00about, wait a minute, we don't want to take up more space under
- 5:03the lights. We only have so much space under
- 5:05the lights. And we still have packages and
- 5:07packages of flowers to plant. So what are we going to do?
- 5:11We have to be, we have to be very careful about this.
- 5:14And all this chatter is going off because I want to do the
- 5:18right things. I want to have the right
- 5:20outcomes. And I want to make sure that I'm
- 5:23living into the person that I know I am, which is always
- 5:26trying to cultivate the most I can out of anything, anybody
- 5:29anyway. So I had to stop and pause and I
- 5:32said, you know what, I'm going to go shoot the podcast right
- 5:34now while all this chaos is going on in my head so that
- 5:37y'all know I have these issues too.
- 5:40Now, most of the time it's like this, All the positives are
- 5:43arguing in my head and trying to figure out what's the best way
- 5:46to go. But in this case, my solution,
- 5:49my creative, my imagination came up with the best idea, that the
- 5:532020 Fives will go under the lights in the garage and they
- 5:56will have a massive different environment, but nonetheless an
- 6:01extremely right environment for them.
- 6:04And the 2020 fours will go into the herb bins that are outside
- 6:08already and I'll hold them back a bit.
- 6:11I'll let them go because cilantro goes very quickly in
- 6:13this house anyway. So I will plant them in probably
- 6:183 weeks, 4 weeks once I know I'm past the frost and give them a
- 6:22chance to grow outside. And it'll be a great comparison
- 6:26for conditions and we will see what happens.
- 6:29But the point of today's podcast is to make sure you understand
- 6:33no matter who you are, no matter what you do, you will have
- 6:35debates with yourself and you will have to choose.
- 6:37And in the process of choosing, you have to decide which ones
- 6:41are the most right for you, which ones are the most aligned
- 6:45with who you want to be. All right, my friends, I hope
- 6:48you have a blessed day. I'm going to go finish planting
- 6:51some seeds and get ready to go get the girls out.
- 6:54And I hope you all have a very, very blessed day.
- 6:57Bye.
