- 0:00Speaker 1: Time now for back to the Basics and healthcare with
- 0:02Speaker 1: Balanced Life Chiropractic. We're here with doctor Harley.
- 0:04Speaker 2: Hello, doctor Harley, Hey John.
- 0:06Speaker 1: We've been visiting a little bit about men's health this month,
- 0:11Speaker 1: and one of the things we're going to chat about
- 0:13Speaker 1: today is that dad falling asleep watching TV or dad
- 0:16Speaker 1: falling asleep watching a movie and just kind of that
- 0:19Speaker 1: running out of energy before the end of the day.
- 0:21Speaker 1: And that's kind of a common thing.
- 0:22Speaker 2: Isn't it. You're right.
- 0:23Speaker 3: I mean, I know my dad has always like taken
- 0:25Speaker 3: a nap in the afternoon as far as I can remember,
- 0:28Speaker 3: so I know I have a lot of patience that
- 0:30Speaker 3: talk about, you know, is having a lot of less
- 0:32Speaker 3: energy by the end of the day, and they maybe
- 0:34Speaker 3: have like a desk job, so it doesn't seem like
- 0:36Speaker 3: they're exerting a lot of energy throughout the day, but
- 0:39Speaker 3: you can still be wasting energy while doing nothing.
- 0:42Speaker 2: Absolutely.
- 0:43Speaker 1: And I recently started watching Matt Locke. When I was
- 0:45Speaker 1: a little kid, my dad would watch that, so it's
- 0:48Speaker 1: on Amazon Prime. I was like, Oh, mattlock that's kind
- 0:50Speaker 1: of cool.
- 0:50Speaker 2: I'm going to watch that.
- 0:51Speaker 1: I think the theme song must have like trip to
- 0:53Speaker 1: Fan in it because like I'll start that, I'll fall asleep.
- 0:56Speaker 1: My wife is like, all you're missing are some Worther's originals.
- 0:58Speaker 1: You've become an old man watching Matt Locke fall asleep.
- 1:01Speaker 1: So what can we do to not fall asleep when
- 1:04Speaker 1: we sit down to watch TV or watch a movie.
- 1:06Speaker 2: Well, some of it can be from your nervous system.
- 1:08Speaker 3: We've talked about that in the past, about just wasting energy,
- 1:12Speaker 3: not being efficient with our energy, and having too much
- 1:16Speaker 3: like stress in our body in our nervous system has
- 1:19Speaker 3: us running on overdrive and that I don't know what
- 1:21Speaker 3: you're talking About'm gonna waste a lot of excessive energy.
- 1:24Speaker 3: We've talked about some of the scans that we have
- 1:26Speaker 3: in our office. We have a muscle scan that we're
- 1:28Speaker 3: able to see how active or underactive your muscles are
- 1:31Speaker 3: along your spine. So if they're overactive and even while
- 1:34Speaker 3: you're sitting there overactive, that's wasting a lot of energy
- 1:37Speaker 3: because when we're sitting we really shouldn't be burning like
- 1:40Speaker 3: tons and tons and tons of excessive.
- 1:42Speaker 2: Energy, but we can be.
- 1:43Speaker 3: And so we see with those scans, as someone's going
- 1:46Speaker 3: through care, we're getting adjusted, the muscles are moving better,
- 1:49Speaker 3: they're working more efficiently. Those energy scans actually start coming
- 1:53Speaker 3: back down to normal. We're not wasting as much energy
- 1:56Speaker 3: just sitting and so you know, we're using energy more efficiently.
- 1:59Speaker 2: We're not wasting much.
- 2:00Speaker 3: You have a lot more energy at the end of
- 2:03Speaker 3: the day, so you're not as exhausted by the time
- 2:05Speaker 3: you get home from work.
- 2:07Speaker 1: That's awesome and the thing that's kind of fun. This
- 2:09Speaker 1: is one of those things where you look at it
- 2:11Speaker 1: and there are times where I'll fall asleep because I'm tired,
- 2:15Speaker 1: but I know why. It's because we had like twenty
- 2:17Speaker 1: seven projects and I'm just exhausted. But then there's other
- 2:21Speaker 1: times where I'm like, why was I tired? I don't
- 2:23Speaker 1: even understand why I was tired? So it is that
- 2:25Speaker 1: Could that be something where maybe it's my body is
- 2:27Speaker 1: saying it needs to be adjusted?
- 2:28Speaker 2: Yeah, very true, Yeah, very much.
- 2:30Speaker 3: Though, if you're doing a lot every day, like you
- 2:32Speaker 3: have a lot of things going on, totally makes sense why.
- 2:35Speaker 2: You're exhausted by the end of the day. But if
- 2:36Speaker 2: you feel like you're just sitting around, You're like, man,
- 2:37Speaker 2: why am I so tired?
- 2:38Speaker 3: Day?
- 2:38Speaker 2: I haven't done anything.
- 2:39Speaker 1: I need more water.
- 2:40Speaker 2: That can also be a factor if you're not drinking
- 2:42Speaker 2: up water.
- 2:42Speaker 3: I remember this.
- 2:43Speaker 1: From the hydration chat. So I learned stuff.
- 2:47Speaker 2: Yeah, that's great, and hopefully more people are learning things,
- 2:50Speaker 2: not just John.
- 2:51Speaker 1: Yes, yes, we all need to learn. So one of
- 2:54Speaker 1: the things we could do is get and I suppose
- 2:55Speaker 1: another thing would be getting more rest because if you're
- 2:57Speaker 1: not getting enough sleep at night, that's where you'd be
- 2:59Speaker 1: tired during the.
- 3:00Speaker 2: Day, right, right.
- 3:01Speaker 3: And my husband's kind of example does he tosses and turns,
- 3:05Speaker 3: he jokes, is kind of like a rotissory chicken.
- 3:06Speaker 2: Constantly moving.
- 3:08Speaker 3: And you know, in that case, it could be like
- 3:10Speaker 3: a mattress thing. It could be that he's not stretching enough.
- 3:13Speaker 3: I know he doesn't get adjusted enough.
- 3:15Speaker 1: He should marry a chiropractor.
- 3:17Speaker 2: He is married to a chiropractor.
- 3:18Speaker 3: But he just doesn't come into the office as much,
- 3:21Speaker 3: or he forgets to ask me when we're home, and
- 3:24Speaker 3: I don't be like, hey, get on the couch or
- 3:27Speaker 3: the bed, I'm gonna get you adjusted.
- 3:28Speaker 2: It's just just do it. It's time.
- 3:31Speaker 3: But yeah, it could be the way you're sleeping or
- 3:33Speaker 3: not sleeping. And we've talked a lot about sleep, how
- 3:36Speaker 3: to get better sleep. So, yeah, there's a lot of
- 3:39Speaker 3: different things that we can do for helping with energy.
- 3:41Speaker 1: If somebody listening is going, okay, that sounds so much
- 3:43Speaker 1: like me, or maybe it's not them, but it's one
- 3:45Speaker 1: of their close family members or friends. If they need
- 3:48Speaker 1: some assistance with this, they can stop in and chat
- 3:51Speaker 1: with you, or they can reach out and chat with
- 3:53Speaker 1: you and kind of get a plan put.
- 3:54Speaker 3: Together, can't they? Definitely? And even if like you're not sure,
- 3:57Speaker 3: I was like, is this a good fit? Should I
- 3:58Speaker 3: be doing this? Just reaching out and just asking us
- 4:01Speaker 3: some questions and we can kind of lead you in
- 4:02Speaker 3: the right direction as well. But if you're ready to
- 4:05Speaker 3: start making that change, the first step is scheduling a
- 4:08Speaker 3: new patient.
- 4:08Speaker 1: Appointment, and you can do that by reaching out, either
- 4:11Speaker 1: by calling or stopping in or or messaging. So what
- 4:15Speaker 1: are the best ways?
- 4:16Speaker 3: Yeah, as simple as a phone caller phone number six
- 4:18Speaker 3: year oh five two one five one seven eight five.
- 4:20Speaker 3: You can reach out to us on our Facebook page
