Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Hello, their leap Frogs. Welcome to a very special episode
- 0:03Speaker 1: on the podcast feed today. If you weren't aware, and
- 0:07Speaker 1: why would you be? May is a five Thursday month,
- 0:11Speaker 1: and with our new release schedule of two fandemoniums, an
- 0:14Speaker 1: episode of press play, and a bonus round every month,
- 0:18Speaker 1: we don't really account for what happens when there's five
- 0:21Speaker 1: Thursdays in a month. I personally think the entire concept
- 0:24Speaker 1: should be outlawed, but there we go.
- 0:26Speaker 2: So while we prepare for.
- 0:27Speaker 1: Our live show on May twenty fourth, and so we
- 0:30Speaker 1: don't couple together another fandominium or something like that. That
- 0:33Speaker 1: would be kind of half baked. Instead, we got the
- 0:36Speaker 1: opportunity to do an actual play of a fantastic new
- 0:40Speaker 1: game called Imminent Peril. Imminent Peril is the chaotic, improv
- 0:45Speaker 1: storytelling survival game where players compete to escape deadly situations
- 0:50Speaker 1: in the most creative ways possible. Look it's essentially competitive
- 0:54Speaker 1: grown up make believe. Which, if that doesn't sound like
- 0:57Speaker 1: a handful of games that we play here on the
- 0:59Speaker 1: Game Leaper's podcast feed on the regular, I don't know
- 1:02Speaker 1: what to tell you. And this actual play that we
- 1:05Speaker 1: did was an absolute blast. If you like the games
- 1:08Speaker 1: we play here on this podcast. You're gonna love this episode.
- 1:11Speaker 1: A huge thank you to the creator of the game,
- 1:14Speaker 1: Aaron Lanowitz for guiding myself and Audra and Ben through
- 1:18Speaker 1: this actual play. And thank you to the Wider Criit
- 1:22Speaker 1: Harder team for creating, developing, making this game and sharing
- 1:26Speaker 1: it with the world. And the kickstarter for Imminent Peril
- 1:29Speaker 1: is live right now. There will be a link at
- 1:32Speaker 1: the very top of the show notes where you can
- 1:35Speaker 1: see a more clear and detailed explanation of what Imminent
- 1:39Speaker 1: Peril is as a game, as well as some other
- 1:41Speaker 1: cool actual plays in case ours isn't enough, So listen
- 1:45Speaker 1: to this actual play. Listen to us have a bunch
- 1:47Speaker 1: of fun with a brilliantly simple and imaginative game that
- 1:51Speaker 1: I think would go down well at pretty much any
- 1:55Speaker 1: party gathering, game night, community event, almost any situation really.
- 2:01Speaker 1: I mean, unless you're in actual peril, then solve the
- 2:05Speaker 1: real peril so you can play the make belief peril
- 2:08Speaker 1: of Imminent Peril. I know we had a lot of
- 2:11Speaker 1: fun recording this on a cozy weekend morning. It allows
- 2:15Speaker 1: people to flex their imagination, and I think if you're
- 2:17Speaker 1: listening to this podcast that's something you're a fan of.
- 2:20Speaker 1: And now I'm gonna throw things over to Ben. Oh yes,
- 2:22Speaker 1: thank you to Ben as well for producing this episode.
- 2:25Speaker 2: Thank you Ben.
- 2:25Speaker 1: Tickets to our live show on May twenty fourth are
- 2:28Speaker 1: still available. I might be back after we play Imminent
- 2:31Speaker 1: Peril with some more chat and admin, but for now,
- 2:33Speaker 1: please enjoy gate Leapers plays Imminent Peril.
- 2:40Speaker 3: Welcome to Gateleapers plays Imminent Peril. I'm here with the
- 2:45Speaker 3: main regulars, Matt Watson.
- 2:47Speaker 4: I like that resin regulars, the ones you can always
- 2:53Speaker 4: rely on to comfort you in your times of woe.
- 2:58Speaker 3: And in augusteven Hello, how are you guys doing?
- 3:02Speaker 1: Doing great? Excited to be here. It's for our first
- 3:06Speaker 1: ever gate Leapers plays.
- 3:07Speaker 3: Yeah, something a little different, but I feel very natural.
- 3:12Speaker 2: Oh yeah, it sounds very much like gate Leap is fun.
- 3:15Speaker 5: Absolutely it does.
- 3:17Speaker 3: And our guest is a game designer and a cool
- 3:20Speaker 3: dude that I met a while ago whose name I'm
- 3:23Speaker 3: probably gonna butcher because I did not ask him how
- 3:25Speaker 3: to pronounce it. Aaron Lenna Witz. Lena Witz. Yeah, yeah,
- 3:33Speaker 3: I did get it well.
- 3:35Speaker 6: I like you started a question mark in the middle
- 3:37Speaker 6: of my last name, though, let's where it got tricky.
- 3:41Speaker 2: Is that how it spelt?
- 3:42Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, it's L A N question mark e W
- 3:45Speaker 6: I S.
- 3:46Speaker 5: I thought you were going to have trouble with Aaron.
- 3:49Speaker 5: It's gonna be like Ben, we gotta talk.
- 3:53Speaker 2: What are these two a's mean? What do I scream it?
- 4:00Speaker 6: I would love a version of this where you introduced
- 4:02Speaker 6: me like that.
- 4:07Speaker 3: But today we're going to be playing a game that
- 4:09Speaker 3: you created along with your wife, I believe.
- 4:12Speaker 6: Yeah. Yeah, she's been supporting me all along in the
- 4:16Speaker 6: closest to my relentless updates and changes.
- 4:21Speaker 3: Sho your sounding board for all time. Yeah, yeah, we're
- 4:27Speaker 3: gonna be playing your game, Imminent Peril, which should be
- 4:30Speaker 3: hopefully on Kickstarter when this launches and or soon depending
- 4:34Speaker 3: on what Dark Commissar decides to inflict upon our trade policies.
- 4:45Speaker 6: Yeah, that's a that's a whole thing. We're gonna build
- 4:48Speaker 6: what we can into it to mitigate what's going on.
- 4:52Speaker 5: But yeah, that's all you can do.
- 4:55Speaker 3: Yes that play games? Yes, so Aaron tell us about
- 5:03Speaker 3: Imminent Peril.
- 5:04Speaker 6: Yeah, I'll give you the short version. Imminent Peril is
- 5:07Speaker 6: a creatively chaotic storytelling survival game. The short version is
- 5:12Speaker 6: you and your friends are trapped together in a deadly scenario,
- 5:15Speaker 6: running from one life threatening situation to another, using special
- 5:20Speaker 6: abilities and your imagination to survive.
- 5:26Speaker 3: Well, let's go ahead and get into playing, and then
- 5:28Speaker 3: after we finish the game, you can tell people you
- 5:31Speaker 3: know where they can find it and all that.
- 5:33Speaker 6: But let's get Yeah, that sounds good. It's straight to
- 5:35Speaker 6: the fun bits. Let's keep our audience engaged, all right. Uh,
- 5:39Speaker 6: first step, we will roll our scenario. So we are
- 5:43Speaker 6: starting in and exploding zoo full of rotting no unicorns. Okay,
- 5:54Speaker 6: exploding zoo full of rotting unicorns. So next we need
- 5:59Speaker 6: to more details, kind of fill in the blanks. How
- 6:02Speaker 6: do we glue these things together to make a situation
- 6:06Speaker 6: a full world? How do we tie these together?
- 6:08Speaker 3: I mean, imagine if it's got rotting unicorns, what eats unicorns?
- 6:12Speaker 3: I mean, you'd have to have so many unicorns you'd
- 6:14Speaker 3: need to have a zoo full of creatures that ate them,
- 6:17Speaker 3: I presume, right, Like so.
- 6:18Speaker 6: I like that, And exploding is some kind of like
- 6:21Speaker 6: containment protocol maybe for whatever that is.
- 6:24Speaker 1: Yeah, is the insinuation there, bend that all animals in
- 6:28Speaker 1: zoos are ones that we eat?
- 6:32Speaker 3: I mean, well, the insinuation, I guess would be all
- 6:35Speaker 3: animals and zoos are ones that i'd.
- 6:36Speaker 5: Eat a person who preference.
- 6:41Speaker 3: Like, yeah, they if they've got like a freezer full
- 6:44Speaker 3: of dead unicorns that they feed to you know, the
- 6:48Speaker 3: the tarasque or whatever they're keeping in this zoo that
- 6:50Speaker 3: eats unicorns, and the some sort of.
- 6:53Speaker 6: The refrigerators went down. This sounds like some kind of
- 6:56Speaker 6: like zoo slash buffet.
- 6:59Speaker 3: Totally. That's that's gonna be why my character's there. He's
- 7:02Speaker 3: there for the for the buffet at the end of
- 7:05Speaker 3: the zoo.
- 7:05Speaker 2: And the exploding element to this.
- 7:08Speaker 6: I had the idea of, like, you know, some kind
- 7:10Speaker 6: of containment protocol, but I feel like I think we
- 7:12Speaker 6: might be able to do better. Do you guys have
- 7:14Speaker 6: some ideas? Why is it exploding?
- 7:17Speaker 5: If it's a buffet situation? Could it be one of
- 7:20Speaker 5: those like experiential restaurants but where the pyro went a
- 7:26Speaker 5: little bit wrong? Yes, is just a little bit more
- 7:31Speaker 5: intense than they had anticipated.
- 7:34Speaker 6: That sounds perfect.
- 7:35Speaker 3: I like that that there's like there's a buffet in
- 7:38Speaker 3: the middle of the zoo where all the animals get
- 7:40Speaker 3: to watch you eat them, and uh, and the pyro
- 7:43Speaker 3: went sideways and there was a big explosion. And now
- 7:48Speaker 3: that all these animals that you were eating are now
- 7:50Speaker 3: free and able to eat you.
- 7:52Speaker 6: Oh no, I like to picture that all the animals
- 7:56Speaker 6: enclosures were also definitely pointed at the buffet area. Yeah,
- 8:01Speaker 6: because if you're not being watched eating their friends and
- 8:04Speaker 6: loved ones, then.
- 8:05Speaker 5: What where's the thrill?
- 8:09Speaker 1: This does sound like a one percent exponential Now.
- 8:13Speaker 6: This is the the elite zoo buffet of the unicorn.
- 8:18Speaker 3: On the bright side, I think we probably all deserve
- 8:20Speaker 3: whatever comes to us.
- 8:22Speaker 6: Yes, all right, is there anything else you guys would
- 8:27Speaker 6: like to add, generally before we put ourselves into the story.
- 8:30Speaker 2: What were the four elements? Again?
- 8:32Speaker 6: I think I'm i'm so rotting unicorns, which is like
- 8:36Speaker 6: some kind of stock that had gone prigerator has gone bad.
- 8:40Speaker 6: They were they were previously frozen exploding zoo, which is
- 8:44Speaker 6: because of something something's wrong with the fireworks that always
- 8:48Speaker 6: accompany the nightly dinners at the zoo buffet.
- 8:52Speaker 3: Yes, so well, perhaps they had like a like a
- 8:55Speaker 3: display of like taxidermy, poorly taxidermied unicorns, and that's what exploded.
- 9:00Speaker 3: So there are now unicorn parts and horns throughout the venue.
- 9:06Speaker 2: Just a sea of unicorn viscera.
- 9:08Speaker 3: Yeah yeah, and it's it's driving all of the animals
- 9:11Speaker 3: into a frenzy.
- 9:14Speaker 6: So there should definitely like as a one percent like
- 9:16Speaker 6: crazy elite retreat thing. There should definitely be like a
- 9:20Speaker 6: shooting range of some short where you get to you
- 9:23Speaker 6: get to take down your favorite Yeah yeah, you get
- 9:26Speaker 6: to shoot your you get to pick and shoot your dinner.
- 9:29Speaker 6: But it's like weapons from across the board, like maybe
- 9:32Speaker 6: there's a tank in there.
- 9:33Speaker 3: Really yeah, yeah, we got the money for this.
- 9:36Speaker 2: Yeah, we can do anything.
- 9:39Speaker 6: Yeah, literally, good stuff. All right, So next step, we're
- 9:43Speaker 6: going to insert ourselves into the story as characters that
- 9:48Speaker 6: have been there all along. If anybody has any ideas,
- 9:51Speaker 6: feel free to just jump in.
- 9:52Speaker 3: Do we draw traits for our character or anything like
- 9:55Speaker 3: that or.
- 9:55Speaker 6: Do we no, no, no, we are. It's just like
- 9:57Speaker 6: wherever you want to be in the situation. So it
- 10:00Speaker 6: for example, I will be somebody dressed like the guy
- 10:05Speaker 6: from Jumanji, like the African like canvas flat hat. Yeah yeah,
- 10:13Speaker 6: like they're really dusty, like everything's canvassy and dusty, and
- 10:18Speaker 6: I have like a pipe and my mustache. Yeah yeah,
- 10:22Speaker 6: like super like well oiled curly and I'm running the range.
- 10:29Speaker 6: I guess this is fault. I'm certainly to blame in
- 10:37Speaker 6: some amount.
- 10:39Speaker 1: Well, Can I to also absolve some of the blame
- 10:42Speaker 1: from me and try and claim a position of service worker?
- 10:45Speaker 1: Can I be like a butler who is bringing out
- 10:47Speaker 1: the animals for the buffet?
- 10:49Speaker 6: Absolutely?
- 10:50Speaker 1: I mean maybe the maybe the pyrois by fault. We
- 10:52Speaker 1: won't get onto that yet, but like I'd like to
- 10:56Speaker 1: be some kind of a snooty butler wearing like a
- 10:59Speaker 1: monarch and like a towel over my of my wrist
- 11:03Speaker 1: to mop up one percent messes.
- 11:05Speaker 6: That's perfect. This is a very much an improv game,
- 11:08Speaker 6: meaning that if you don't explicitly fill in every single
- 11:10Speaker 6: detail right now, that's fine. If you don't say you're
- 11:13Speaker 6: in a particular place, well that it doesn't really matter
- 11:15Speaker 6: until it matters, and then you can just define it
- 11:17Speaker 6: at that point, all right.
- 11:19Speaker 3: I will be a guy that won a sweepstakes or
- 11:24Speaker 3: the once in a lifetime trip to the mythical feast Zoo,
- 11:29Speaker 3: and I'm I was super excited about it. Wanted to
- 11:32Speaker 3: try one of every you know, just a little bite
- 11:34Speaker 3: of every animal.
- 11:36Speaker 5: I am Olga better chomp. I am a food critic, perfect,
- 11:43Speaker 5: and it's been a while since I've been back, and
- 11:47Speaker 5: they better have stepped up their game. That's what buffet.
- 11:52Speaker 3: That's why they did the Pirate Technics display. They were
- 11:54Speaker 3: trying to impress it.
- 11:55Speaker 5: Yeah, they knew I was going to be there exactly this.
- 11:59Speaker 6: They actually setting this up just for you to put
- 12:02Speaker 6: some more pizzazz into the show.
- 12:04Speaker 2: We need that third Michelin star.
- 12:08Speaker 5: We're not going to survive without it.
- 12:10Speaker 6: Well, if you're adding names into the mix, I'm going
- 12:14Speaker 6: to be Sir Blunderbuss, Master of Arms.
- 12:17Speaker 1: I will be I'm going to be a combination of
- 12:20Speaker 1: two Butler stereotypes.
- 12:22Speaker 2: And I'm going to be Reginald Jeeves.
- 12:24Speaker 5: It's good.
- 12:26Speaker 3: I'll be a Doug Smith. I just want to dude.
- 12:31Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 12:32Speaker 6: Perfect. Oh man, I probably should write those down somewhere.
- 12:35Speaker 6: But so we are now all a part of a story.
- 12:41Speaker 6: We explicitly don't hand your ability cards until this moment,
- 12:44Speaker 6: so that you have no idea what your power set's
- 12:47Speaker 6: going to be when you place yourself into the story.
- 12:51Speaker 6: So three rounds means four cards when you use an ability,
- 12:55Speaker 6: unless it says can be used again later. In some
- 12:58Speaker 6: fashion they're burned, so your hand of options is shrinking
- 13:03Speaker 6: as the game progresses.
- 13:05Speaker 2: Oh interesting to start.
- 13:08Speaker 6: Take a look at your target. So if everybody remembers
- 13:11Speaker 6: what their target was doing last once you know how
- 13:16Speaker 6: you will be putting them into peril. Flip your target
- 13:18Speaker 6: upside down. Okay, all right, so I will go first.
- 13:24Speaker 6: My target is Audra or I should say Olga better
- 13:29Speaker 6: chump the renowned food critic in a desperate attempt to
- 13:36Speaker 6: please you, to wow you with like some spectacular effects
- 13:41Speaker 6: along with the food. While they were going overboard with
- 13:45Speaker 6: the fireworks across the board, they also thought, like thematically,
- 13:50Speaker 6: how awesome would it be? Is like if you took
- 13:52Speaker 6: your very first bite, just sparkles exploded out of the
- 13:55Speaker 6: side of your set your super deluxe slab of unicorn beef. Unfortunately,
- 14:04Speaker 6: though they as as their first year, were doing anything
- 14:07Speaker 6: with combustibles, they definitely got the mix and ratios wrong,
- 14:11Speaker 6: and as you bite into it, it's exploding.
- 14:14Speaker 5: Okay, perils first.
- 14:16Speaker 6: Yep, everybody gets put in peril, and then everybody has
- 14:19Speaker 6: the same amount of time to think about how they're
- 14:21Speaker 6: trying to get out of that situation.
- 14:24Speaker 3: Okay, okay, be So my target is Aaron what was
- 14:28Speaker 3: your character's name, the.
- 14:29Speaker 6: Pith helmet guy, Sir Blunderbuss or Blunderbus.
- 14:32Speaker 3: How could I forget that?
- 14:34Speaker 6: The arms?
- 14:35Speaker 3: So yeah, as you know, you're kind of the master
- 14:39Speaker 3: of ceremonies of sorts here, So like, as you're up
- 14:41Speaker 3: at the front and the unicorns explode, you know you're
- 14:44Speaker 3: standing in front of them. So now you have like
- 14:47Speaker 3: seven or eight incredibly sharp, magical unicorn horns just rocketing
- 14:52Speaker 3: towards you at unimaginable speed.
- 14:57Speaker 6: As soon as you said they were exploding behind me,
- 14:59Speaker 6: I was actually hoping for that. Yeah, that spear lunch
- 15:05Speaker 6: a couple time seven, So that's great. A couple of them.
- 15:08Speaker 3: Still have heads attached, so they got something.
- 15:13Speaker 1: So my target is competition winner Doug Smith. And I
- 15:17Speaker 1: think that kind of triggers some insecurity in Reginald Jeeves
- 15:22Speaker 1: of like his position in society, of like helping, and
- 15:26Speaker 1: he feels threatened by another member of the lower classes
- 15:29Speaker 1: being here. So he's gonna under a special closh serve
- 15:36Speaker 1: some unbeknownst to Doug, some spoiled meats, some very toxic
- 15:42Speaker 1: unicorn flesh.
- 15:43Speaker 3: So we got a belly full of poisons.
- 15:47Speaker 5: Okay, my target is are our dear Reginald Jeeves him
- 15:53Speaker 5: serving Doug Smith this meet. He's heard an explosion, thinking,
- 15:57Speaker 5: oh my gosh, this is a queue for one of
- 15:59Speaker 5: the other elements of this ceremony, and he thinks he's late,
- 16:04Speaker 5: and so he, being of advanced age, is rushing to
- 16:07Speaker 5: his spot and just like trips on a tiny bit
- 16:11Speaker 5: of blood and this very old man is about to fall.
- 16:23Speaker 6: That's one of the best like low key.
- 16:25Speaker 1: Yeah, yes, fall at my age.
- 16:30Speaker 5: Yeah, that's very perilous.
- 16:33Speaker 6: Dangerous, that's great. Okay, so we're all in peril. Next,
- 16:37Speaker 6: you will use one of your abilities to try to
- 16:40Speaker 6: explain how you are trying to survive. When you know
- 16:42Speaker 6: which one it is, put it face down from it
- 16:44Speaker 6: and again. At any point you can grab a wild
- 16:47Speaker 6: card if you're not.
- 16:48Speaker 5: Happy with your do I place it under my name
- 16:52Speaker 5: the card? Or do I place it under the attack
- 16:54Speaker 5: the targeted attack?
- 16:56Speaker 6: Under the attack like that? Yep, yeah, I know. I
- 17:01Speaker 6: have to figure out they're just.
- 17:07Speaker 3: Unicorn horn rockets. You should be fine.
- 17:09Speaker 6: Yeah, it's not.
- 17:11Speaker 3: Like you're tripped.
- 17:15Speaker 6: Serious. Oh man, I feel like Audrey and I an
- 17:21Speaker 6: like a similar comedic way. Of length there.
- 17:25Speaker 5: Heck, yes, I'm honored.
- 17:30Speaker 6: All right, I'll go first again. Now that we're already
- 17:33Speaker 6: I am about to be impaled by some explosion launched
- 17:36Speaker 6: unicorn horns and heads. Luckily, though, I have the power
- 17:42Speaker 6: of cosmic binding, I can permanently bind anything to anything
- 17:46Speaker 6: if those things are not already touching there immediately and
- 17:49Speaker 6: irresistibly drawn together. So as I hear an explosion behind
- 17:53Speaker 6: me and I see the unicorns just blasting into pieces,
- 17:56Speaker 6: I'm like, no, the show must go on, and I
- 18:00Speaker 6: use cosmic binding to try to cosmically glue the pieces
- 18:04Speaker 6: of the unicorns back into their original bodies. So as
- 18:09Speaker 6: all the pieces are blowing outwards, suddenly they snap back in,
- 18:12Speaker 6: but definitely not in the right order or in like
- 18:16Speaker 6: a functional way.
- 18:18Speaker 3: Disgusting meat statue. All right, So as you know I've
- 18:28Speaker 3: I've got, you know I've I've been eaten some unicorn.
- 18:30Speaker 3: I'm pretty stoked, excited to move on to the next course.
- 18:33Speaker 3: I start to feel something rumbling inside me. It feels
- 18:38Speaker 3: real horrible. I feel like I'm about to barf. I'm
- 18:40Speaker 3: in front of all of these important people. I cannot
- 18:44Speaker 3: let that happen. So I'm gonna use my nanobots. My
- 18:47Speaker 3: body is full of microscopic robots program to form a
- 18:49Speaker 3: single complex task, and I will order them to digest
- 18:55Speaker 3: this obnoxious barf so that I do not have to
- 18:59Speaker 3: Maybe I'll tell them to you, it has to get
- 19:02Speaker 3: out of my body. So I'm gonna have them excrete
- 19:03Speaker 3: it as sweat, and so I'll just start dripping disgusting,
- 19:08Speaker 3: smelling sweat and in the hopes that nobody notices that
- 19:11Speaker 3: I was about to.
- 19:12Speaker 6: Barf, I'm glad you didn't go the other direction. With
- 19:14Speaker 6: that direct.
- 19:19Speaker 1: I think I've just poisoned someone. And then I hear
- 19:23Speaker 1: an explosion and think, oh, it's it's my time to
- 19:26Speaker 1: perform the next part of the performance. And as I
- 19:30Speaker 1: turn and trip and it all happens in complete slow motion,
- 19:34Speaker 1: time stands still.
- 19:35Speaker 2: We've look.
- 19:36Speaker 1: I hate to bring it up, but we've all seen
- 19:38Speaker 1: an old person's techer tumble. There's sudden panic fills the room.
- 19:41Speaker 1: It's a it's a difficult situation. But just as I'm
- 19:46Speaker 1: sort of a foot away from absolutely crashing out on
- 19:49Speaker 1: the floor, I use my summons swarm, and I summon
- 19:55Speaker 1: one hundred thousand tiny little flies that fly right beneath
- 20:01Speaker 1: my old body and support my weight, which surely at
- 20:05Speaker 1: this advent stage can't be more than a hundred pounds,
- 20:09Speaker 1: and they float me to safety.
- 20:13Speaker 5: I'm taking a bite of my delicious unicorn sandwich, a
- 20:18Speaker 5: delicacy that they serve only here, and it starts to
- 20:21Speaker 5: explode out the side. But fortunately I'm a stylish lady
- 20:27Speaker 5: and so olga better chomp. Of course, is never seen
- 20:31Speaker 5: without more than three flamboyant scarves. And she is going
- 20:35Speaker 5: to use textile manipulation. Textile manipulation, I can control and
- 20:41Speaker 5: reshape fibers, textiles, fabrics, and cloths in order to capture
- 20:46Speaker 5: the fire and kind of put a blanket over the
- 20:51Speaker 5: fire so that she doesn't burn to death.
- 20:54Speaker 6: Making scarves a very good.
- 20:58Speaker 5: She's a fancy lady.
- 21:01Speaker 6: It sounds like three scarves, so fascy. All right, So
- 21:08Speaker 6: we're in preparation for voting. We're going to do a
- 21:10Speaker 6: quick recap, on quick one sentence recap of how we
- 21:14Speaker 6: are trying to survive in an effort to make a
- 21:17Speaker 6: case for ourselves. I was on stage or master ceremony,
- 21:24Speaker 6: about to be impaled by a ton of unicorn horns
- 21:27Speaker 6: and heads. Luckily, though, as they exploded apart, I was
- 21:32Speaker 6: quickly able to cosmically bind them back into something that's
- 21:37Speaker 6: not going to pail me.
- 21:38Speaker 3: At least, I was fed rancid meat and turned my
- 21:42Speaker 3: vomit to sweat. Boy. Reading that back, it doesn't sound
- 21:45Speaker 3: as effective as I thought it might have.
- 21:48Speaker 2: I think it sounds very scientific. I was.
- 21:54Speaker 1: I was taking a bad fall as an elderly person,
- 21:58Speaker 1: and I summoned one hundred thousand tiny flies to catch
- 22:03Speaker 1: me and protect me from a bat fall.
- 22:06Speaker 5: And my food was about to explode, and I used
- 22:10Speaker 5: textile manipulation to have my scarves smother the flames.
- 22:15Speaker 6: So, when you know who you'd vote for, pick up
- 22:18Speaker 6: a token and we're just gonna hold it out in
- 22:20Speaker 6: the air for a bit until we have a foreshadowing,
- 22:27Speaker 6: and then I'm gonna call three two one, and we're
- 22:29Speaker 6: gonna we're gonna drop them at the same time once. Okay,
- 22:33Speaker 6: all right, three two one, drop them. So so buy
- 22:40Speaker 6: a close margin. Uh Odra, how did some part of
- 22:45Speaker 6: your plan go awry leading you to be hobbled or injured?
- 22:48Speaker 6: In going to there?
- 22:51Speaker 5: I didn't remember that the fabrics that I had chosen
- 22:55Speaker 5: for these particular scarves are absolutely not flame resistant anyway,
- 23:00Speaker 5: shape or form, And so when I go to attempt
- 23:04Speaker 5: to smother the flames, they catch fire even worse, maiming
- 23:10Speaker 5: my face. It is absolutely burnt to shit.
- 23:18Speaker 6: But you're alive.
- 23:19Speaker 5: But I'm alive. Do I want to be.
- 23:23Speaker 6: As long as your taste buds are into it? All right?
- 23:28Speaker 6: So these points will kind of be stored until the
- 23:33Speaker 6: end of the game, and that's going to determine who
- 23:34Speaker 6: the final winner is. Targets have shifted. Does everybody remember
- 23:38Speaker 6: what their new target was doing? Yep? All right, so
- 23:42Speaker 6: flip it. Flip your target when you know how you
- 23:44Speaker 6: would put them in here every round? Me first shifts over,
- 23:48Speaker 6: so Ben, you start this one, all right?
- 23:51Speaker 3: So uh, I'll go better chomp with her. Her face
- 23:54Speaker 3: maimed goes to scream as as anyone is wont to
- 23:59Speaker 3: do when their face cat which is on fire and
- 24:00Speaker 3: takes a deep breath of noxious burned polyester fumes, you know,
- 24:07Speaker 3: just a lung full of awful plastic smoke and starts choking.
- 24:13Speaker 2: So is it so Blunderbuss?
- 24:14Speaker 5: Is it.
- 24:17Speaker 1: So Blunderbuss had just successfully absorbed like morphed, like these
- 24:24Speaker 1: these unicorn horns.
- 24:27Speaker 6: So I used cosmic binding to suck them back kind
- 24:30Speaker 6: of their center to their center points. So wherever they
- 24:33Speaker 6: exploded from they had oh, they'd return pushed back together.
- 24:37Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, okay, Well just the sheer confusion over witnessing this,
- 24:43Speaker 1: this scientific reaction happened for the first time. You you
- 24:46Speaker 1: startle backwards into the cuttlery, the silverware cart, which is
- 24:53Speaker 1: for some reason pointing all knives up.
- 24:57Speaker 6: Last you're the sharkfist of knives to cut unicornain.
- 24:59Speaker 5: Flesh, Doug Smith. The nanobots have had to work so
- 25:03Speaker 5: hard in order to process this rancid flesh. They begin
- 25:08Speaker 5: to cook him from the inside out. He's sweating so
- 25:12Speaker 5: much to try to lower that body temperature. This is
- 25:16Speaker 5: he might he might get cooked. He might be boiled
- 25:20Speaker 5: in his own sweat, all.
- 25:21Speaker 6: Right, And mister Jeeves, Reginald Jeeves luckily saved by his
- 25:27Speaker 6: blanket of flies, which are quite prominent given all the
- 25:31Speaker 6: rotting unicorn around, as they swooped in to save you,
- 25:35Speaker 6: carrying you away on a blanket. They are flies and
- 25:39Speaker 6: they are very much still on a mission to get
- 25:42Speaker 6: all them nummy nummy rotted meat bits. So you're immediately
- 25:46Speaker 6: whisked away over to the spare parts unicorn debris pile,
- 25:52Speaker 6: which is also occupied by Again. This is this is
- 25:57Speaker 6: very one percent ritzy, no holds barred. With enough money,
- 26:02Speaker 6: anything can happen. So, of course, seeing a Jurassic Park,
- 26:05Speaker 6: their immediate instinct is to recreate dinosaurs and a t
- 26:10Speaker 6: rex themselves, because who doesn't want a pet dinosaur? What
- 26:12Speaker 6: could go wrong there? So the dinosaur previously chomping on
- 26:16Speaker 6: the unicorn and spare parts pile sees a nice, a live,
- 26:21Speaker 6: delicious treat brought right in front of his food dish,
- 26:24Speaker 6: so of course this must be for Tina's consumption. Tina, Tina,
- 26:31Speaker 6: Oh no, and yeah, so she's about to.
- 26:34Speaker 2: Bite you major peril.
- 26:38Speaker 6: Does everybody feel adequately threatened?
- 26:41Speaker 2: Yes?
- 26:43Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 26:43Speaker 6: So picking ability? All right? Ben?
- 26:47Speaker 3: All right, So feeling incredibly hot, I'm sweating, not sure
- 26:51Speaker 3: what to do. I look around and I notice the
- 26:55Speaker 3: mythical and extinct creatures back to life. I look over
- 26:58Speaker 3: and I spy a large tank of water, occupied probably
- 27:04Speaker 3: by like a megalodon or something awful, but it looks
- 27:08Speaker 3: nice and cool. So I'm gonna use my unstoppable ability
- 27:11Speaker 3: where everything breaks or is knocked aside as I effortlessly
- 27:14Speaker 3: go wherever I want, and I run directly through the
- 27:17Speaker 3: glass wall into that cool, cool water to put myself off.
- 27:24Speaker 2: Nice. Okay, Well, I found.
- 27:27Speaker 1: Myself in this bowl feeding bowl for a t rex
- 27:32Speaker 1: that has the very cute name of Tina, and to
- 27:36Speaker 1: evade being consumed by Tina, I would like to use
- 27:40Speaker 1: my alchemist ability and drink Rex be gone, because I
- 27:46Speaker 1: am a master maker of alchemical cocktails and have a
- 27:48Speaker 1: potion that is perfect for this occasion, and I would
- 27:52Speaker 1: like to drink that down. And it makes me repulsive
- 27:55Speaker 1: to t rexes and also pterodactyls, but they don't advertise
- 27:59Speaker 1: that on.
- 28:05Speaker 5: I am inhaling these fumes from this burning plastic, but
- 28:11Speaker 5: it's okay. My lungs and everything kind of below like
- 28:15Speaker 5: my collarbone. The reason I wear all these scarves is
- 28:19Speaker 5: because I'm actually pick a tar where my body is
- 28:24Speaker 5: half human and half something else. There is a distinct
- 28:27Speaker 5: line which my body changes from human to my other half,
- 28:31Speaker 5: and my bottom half is actually fully cockroach, and so
- 28:35Speaker 5: I these fumes when they go into my lungs, this
- 28:40Speaker 5: is nothing, This is totally fine. I'm going to like
- 28:44Speaker 5: breathe them in Olga breeds them in deeply, and it's like, oh,
- 28:48Speaker 5: but she has to maintain the illusion that she is
- 28:51Speaker 5: not part cockroach. So she is going to scuttle under
- 28:55Speaker 5: a neighboring table.
- 29:01Speaker 6: Beautiful, taking what some might consider a more dangerous fall,
- 29:07Speaker 6: onto an entire tray and an entire cart full of
- 29:14Speaker 6: sharpened the finest knives, all pointed upwards. Luckily, though, I
- 29:19Speaker 6: happen to be carrying, among many other armaments, my opposite
- 29:23Speaker 6: ray gun. So as I'm falling, I see the sharp
- 29:27Speaker 6: gleam of the of the daggers pointing upwards me and
- 29:31Speaker 6: I can shoot a beam at something to change into
- 29:34Speaker 6: its exact opposite. I had quick draw my opposite ray
- 29:37Speaker 6: and I fired at the thing to turn everything sharp
- 29:40Speaker 6: to dull, maybe even soft and pleasant. It's still pointy,
- 29:47Speaker 6: but that's that's that's a different problem, all right. So
- 29:53Speaker 6: we'll do a quick recap before the vote, starting with that.
- 29:56Speaker 3: Sorry me, So I got incredibly hot into I had
- 30:00Speaker 3: to bash through the wall of some dangerous animals enclosure
- 30:04Speaker 3: and take a cooling swim.
- 30:07Speaker 1: Reginald's Jeeves found himself in the foot bawl of a
- 30:11Speaker 1: t rex and then drank a rex begone, a t
- 30:17Speaker 1: rex repulsing remedy ol go.
- 30:20Speaker 5: Better chomp, breathing in toxic plastic fumes that are burning,
- 30:26Speaker 5: utilized her cockroach lungs and rest of body. To just
- 30:32Speaker 5: have that be fine. They can survive anything.
- 30:36Speaker 6: Sir Blunderbuss, master of arms, facing his worst fear knives
- 30:40Speaker 6: in a gunfight, pulls his opposite ray to change the
- 30:46Speaker 6: incredibly sharp knives to incredibly dull knives. When you know
- 30:50Speaker 6: who you'd vote for, pick up a token and you
- 30:53Speaker 6: can't vote for yourself if that question, yeah, have some faith.
- 31:00Speaker 5: I put my token back because I was like.
- 31:01Speaker 6: What, Oftentimes this is not an easy choice. Everybody can
- 31:06Speaker 6: have spectacular reasons for surviving, but all right, three two one,
- 31:10Speaker 6: drop them? All right, that's what I expected. So as
- 31:17Speaker 6: I'm falling towards the incredibly sharpened knives that have turned
- 31:22Speaker 6: luckily incredibly dull, they still have a very pointy end
- 31:26Speaker 6: and I land chest first across the cart, distributing my
- 31:30Speaker 6: weight like a bed of nails, so I'm not immediately killed. However,
- 31:35Speaker 6: I do roll off sideways and hit the ground with
- 31:39Speaker 6: a woof, and there's a lot of knives just still
- 31:42Speaker 6: step to me like a fin cushion at least an
- 31:46Speaker 6: inch in ouch. But then to help up go on.
- 31:53Speaker 5: Always a professional and professional the entertainer.
- 31:58Speaker 6: All right, so we'll shift targets. All right, let's see
- 32:08Speaker 6: new round, Matt, you're at first.
- 32:11Speaker 1: Yeah, So Olga Beta Chump just scuttled under the table.
- 32:17Speaker 1: And here's the thing. This is a place of great
- 32:20Speaker 1: influence that we're at right now, like the the one
- 32:22Speaker 1: percent of the one percent. Everyone has huge followings on
- 32:26Speaker 1: social media. Tens of people capture this on video of
- 32:29Speaker 1: a cockroach body with the seemingly the top half of
- 32:32Speaker 1: Olga Beta Chump, famed restaurant critic scuttling under the table.
- 32:37Speaker 1: Everyone takes it, immediately, puts it up on social media.
- 32:40Speaker 1: It's the fastest thing to go viral. Ever, they're already
- 32:43Speaker 1: within an instant doing like YouTube TikTok parodies of Olga
- 32:47Speaker 1: Betta Chump. The per if this is allowed, the peril
- 32:51Speaker 1: she is in is her digital reputation is a complete.
- 32:56Speaker 6: Yeah, we've we've had somebody imperiled by not getting enough attention.
- 33:03Speaker 6: They made themselves into a character who was like so
- 33:05Speaker 6: desperate to get to be the focus of everything. So
- 33:08Speaker 6: the removal of that was their pedal.
- 33:12Speaker 5: Sir Blunderbuss, he has knives now sticking out of him,
- 33:17Speaker 5: incredibly relieved. That went bad, but it could have gone worse,
- 33:21Speaker 5: probably um And so he leans on, places his hand
- 33:28Speaker 5: on the on the spare explosion switch to just be like,
- 33:34Speaker 5: if the first explosions didn't work, he as the master
- 33:37Speaker 5: of ceremonies, had access to the additional switch if we
- 33:41Speaker 5: needed the backup explosions. So he is in the firing
- 33:44Speaker 5: line for those additional explosions.
- 33:48Speaker 6: So, Ben, you charged through this giant tank of refreshingly
- 33:54Speaker 6: cool water which you first thought was potentially full of
- 34:01Speaker 6: a megalodon. But that's that's preposterous. That's how would they
- 34:08Speaker 6: be able to afford to feed the thing. So what
- 34:10Speaker 6: they did was shrink them. It's a it's a school
- 34:13Speaker 6: of tiny parenthicized megalodons.
- 34:17Speaker 3: Excellent.
- 34:18Speaker 6: And as as the water pours around you, the school
- 34:21Speaker 6: is also beginning to pour around you, but trying to
- 34:24Speaker 6: like chomp you like a swarm as it flows past.
- 34:28Speaker 3: Is it a Reginald Jeeves? So Reginald Jeeves you you
- 34:33Speaker 3: you takes the take this t rex repelling potion, you
- 34:37Speaker 3: know to keep it to keep its appetite at bay.
- 34:39Speaker 3: But it's not quite what you thought. Uh. It does
- 34:44Speaker 3: reduce its uh you know, it's hunger and it's physical appetite,
- 34:48Speaker 3: but unfortunately it seems to increase its sexual appetite. Oh no,
- 34:53Speaker 3: and like it gives you a good sniff and then
- 34:56Speaker 3: just tries to go into for the mount. So you've
- 34:59Speaker 3: got a perilous heading your way.
- 35:03Speaker 6: Oh god, I think you might have drank the wrong potion.
- 35:07Speaker 2: Yeah, it sounds like it.
- 35:08Speaker 5: You just nagged this red.
- 35:12Speaker 2: I actually came on to it, all right.
- 35:15Speaker 6: So when you know how you would survive, go ahead
- 35:19Speaker 6: and put your ability card down? And what is the
- 35:22Speaker 6: wild cards? Yeah?
- 35:25Speaker 5: Is it that?
- 35:26Speaker 6: Yep?
- 35:27Speaker 5: That guy.
- 35:28Speaker 6: What I like to do is play it blind, but
- 35:30Speaker 6: you can pull it into your hand first just to
- 35:33Speaker 6: read it and prepare and then put it back down.
- 35:36Speaker 5: I think I'm gonna play it blind.
- 35:38Speaker 6: Yes, it's a lot of fun.
- 35:40Speaker 5: I'm gonna I'm gonna go for it.
- 35:42Speaker 6: And you you normally have to discard one of your cards,
- 35:44Speaker 6: but its round, so there's not there's no practical difference.
- 35:49Speaker 6: Did it? Was it just one person that went with
- 35:51Speaker 6: the blind draw? Or did too?
- 35:53Speaker 1: I didn't go with the blind taral just I think,
- 35:55Speaker 1: just me, you know what, gasp for ratings.
- 36:06Speaker 6: How do you survive?
- 36:07Speaker 1: I've got an amorous t rex on my hands, coming
- 36:12Speaker 1: up my rear.
- 36:14Speaker 2: I've not felt like this in many years.
- 36:17Speaker 1: But realize Reginald realizes the as much as he might
- 36:22Speaker 1: be into the idea at this advanced age, you know,
- 36:23Speaker 1: I have a nice thrill before he kicks the bucket.
- 36:26Speaker 1: There are some very sort of imminent physical consequences to
- 36:30Speaker 1: be mounted by a t rex. I don't think I
- 36:33Speaker 1: should survive that, so I should try to and I
- 36:35Speaker 1: will do that by once again calling on the animal kingdom.
- 36:40Speaker 1: This time I would like to summon an entire colony.
- 36:44Speaker 1: And I would like to summon an entire hmm, it
- 36:48Speaker 1: says no larger than a rabbit. A beaver's about the
- 36:50Speaker 1: size of a rabbit. I want to okay, I want
- 36:52Speaker 1: to summon a colony of beavers to some of them
- 36:55Speaker 1: to carry me away like sweep sweep me away. It's
- 36:59Speaker 1: a very specific reference, but like in Wallace and Grommit,
- 37:02Speaker 1: when Wallace gets carried away by all the sheep, that's
- 37:04Speaker 1: the that's the imagery. While about five four to five
- 37:08Speaker 1: thousand of the beavers kind of use their tails to
- 37:10Speaker 1: slap the amorous t rex into some kind of social submission.
- 37:15Speaker 2: Exactly. Yeah, it's a trick.
- 37:18Speaker 6: I see why you went with beavers.
- 37:19Speaker 3: Now, beavers are thematically appropriate for this, I guess.
- 37:23Speaker 2: I think so. So it's a rude sounding animal.
- 37:28Speaker 6: So you went from smothered by beaver to smothered smothered
- 37:32Speaker 6: by beavers.
- 37:32Speaker 2: Yes, that's that's what's happened here.
- 37:35Speaker 5: Okay, good trade. So I don't know what this card is.
- 37:39Speaker 5: I have not looked at it. Let's find out my character. Okay,
- 37:44Speaker 5: I'll go better, chump. I can't remember what happened to
- 37:46Speaker 5: I'll get better. Oh Internet, professional ruin, Ye, professional ruin.
- 37:52Speaker 1: Losing followers by the thousands, Michelin immediately because there was
- 37:57Speaker 1: during the review a giant cockroach there.
- 38:02Speaker 5: I can summon up to ten allied creatures no larger
- 38:05Speaker 5: than a horse to aid me. Lots of summoned creatures
- 38:08Speaker 5: within a zoo. This absolutely makes sense. So olga better chomp.
- 38:14Speaker 5: Facing potential ruin is just going to summon ten leopards
- 38:21Speaker 5: and they're just gonna come, and they're just gonna Honestly,
- 38:24Speaker 5: she's gonna own this now, and she's like, they're gonna
- 38:27Speaker 5: put on the best show if everybody's filming, and my roote,
- 38:32Speaker 5: like my career as a food critic is over. We're
- 38:37Speaker 5: starting me and these leopards. This is a Leopard dance company.
- 38:42Speaker 5: I'm already dressed with all of my scarves. I already
- 38:45Speaker 5: look like a dance instructor. This is my new career.
- 38:50Speaker 5: We're starting afresh. We're starting with a bang.
- 38:53Speaker 3: It's a.
- 38:55Speaker 2: It's a yes.
- 38:57Speaker 6: That's that's how the wealthy stay wealthy. They know how pivot. Yes, I,
- 39:03Speaker 6: in relief and probably a little bit of blood loss,
- 39:06Speaker 6: accidentally lean down on the launch more fireworks button and unfortunately,
- 39:13Speaker 6: directly in front of the barrels all the launching points
- 39:18Speaker 6: of the fireworks. Luckily, though I have super flights, I
- 39:22Speaker 6: can defy gravity and move through space at will. This
- 39:25Speaker 6: does not make me impervious to collisions. However, so as
- 39:30Speaker 6: I see the button and immediately hear a fuse lighting,
- 39:37Speaker 6: I try to fly faster than fireworks away with like
- 39:44Speaker 6: with like the wind, like plastering my.
- 39:46Speaker 3: Face, Yes, dripping blood behind you, Yeah, the knives wiggling
- 39:53Speaker 3: in the breeze.
- 39:55Speaker 6: Definitely not dislodged in anyway. She's just kind of like
- 39:58Speaker 6: vibrating turbulence. Those are those are actually aerodynamic fan blades
- 40:07Speaker 6: taking advantage of the help breaking the wind resistance exactly
- 40:14Speaker 6: with my dull.
- 40:17Speaker 5: With the handles of the dull knife.
- 40:19Speaker 6: Yeah, this is all falling apart.
- 40:21Speaker 5: I started a Leopard dance company. I don't think you.
- 40:26Speaker 6: I think that has so much pizzazz to it.
- 40:29Speaker 2: Yeah, I buy the rebrand.
- 40:31Speaker 6: You might, you might get more followers.
- 40:34Speaker 5: Uh huh, all right, that's the hope.
- 40:37Speaker 6: All right.
- 40:37Speaker 3: So uh with facing a swarm of microlodons coming after me, Yes,
- 40:45Speaker 3: seeing this, I'm going to use my be fuddle ability
- 40:49Speaker 3: where I can perform baffling actions to create confusion and disarray.
- 40:52Speaker 3: And I'm going to act as if I were a
- 40:55Speaker 3: carrot that they would not be interested in. I will
- 41:00Speaker 3: begin to make all the appropriate carrot like motions which.
- 41:07Speaker 2: Tell us what they are.
- 41:08Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, I'm gonna uh.
- 41:11Speaker 6: Need some visualizations.
- 41:13Speaker 3: They're pretty still and make carrot noises.
- 41:18Speaker 5: Ye, and what does a carrot sound like?
- 41:20Speaker 3: Crunch? Crotch?
- 41:25Speaker 6: You do it?
- 41:26Speaker 3: They like squish or slurp?
- 41:29Speaker 5: The dog says wolf, wolf cat says me out carrot
- 41:31Speaker 5: says chump.
- 41:32Speaker 6: Chopped sounds good, wonderful, quick ruin sentence recap before the vote.
- 41:42Speaker 1: Yes, I was faced with an amorous t rex which
- 41:47Speaker 1: I uh summoned a colony of beavers, half of whom
- 41:52Speaker 1: carried me away, half of whom acted as a sex
- 41:55Speaker 1: barrier of some kind.
- 41:58Speaker 5: Again a dental damn.
- 42:00Speaker 1: Yes, there's no improving on that. That's exactly what happened.
- 42:05Speaker 1: And Yeah, after hearing all of yours, my scenario now
- 42:08Speaker 1: sounds like the most normal.
- 42:12Speaker 6: Just keep getting rescued by blankets of living it.
- 42:15Speaker 2: Yeah, it's at least consistent.
- 42:18Speaker 3: Knew he was a druid butler.
- 42:23Speaker 5: And I faced with like career ruin, I've pivoted using
- 42:30Speaker 5: a pack of did I say, jaguars, panthers, leopards, leopards,
- 42:34Speaker 5: charismatic megafauna in order to create a dance company that
- 42:40Speaker 5: I'm launching hard, launch at this terrolous, perilous warming this Yeah, five, six, seven, eight,
- 42:53Speaker 5: Uh as.
- 42:54Speaker 6: I'm I'm as. I'm about to be shot with a
- 42:57Speaker 6: buttload of spare fire works, the encore lunch. I burst
- 43:04Speaker 6: away with knife, vibrating, cheek plaster jiggling speed. All right,
- 43:14Speaker 6: when you know who you vote for.
- 43:16Speaker 5: Did Ben summarize.
- 43:20Speaker 2: Ben was a carrot fresh in my mind?
- 43:23Speaker 3: Yeahs don't talk. So I was just in character with
- 43:29Speaker 3: a pack of carnivores. I uh, pretend to be a vegetable.
- 43:34Speaker 6: It's also good, dang it all right, do one drop?
- 43:43Speaker 5: I couldn't vote for myself, and so.
- 43:48Speaker 6: No, I thought everybody had really great great.
- 43:52Speaker 5: It only takes one of those megal microdons to be
- 43:57Speaker 5: a vegetarian and your whole it's cut.
- 44:01Speaker 3: And that's precisely what happens is you know one of them,
- 44:05Speaker 3: you know, en route to bite me. It was like, wait,
- 44:08Speaker 3: carrot and like accidentally grazes me with its teeth. Blood
- 44:12Speaker 3: comes pouring out. Carrots, don't these The ruse is up
- 44:19Speaker 3: and I am torn to shreds by hungary microlodons.
- 44:24Speaker 6: Here is what happens next, Matt, You and I are
- 44:28Speaker 6: tied for winners, so we both get to in parts
- 44:32Speaker 6: describe how the overall story ends. However, before we do that,
- 44:37Speaker 6: those with more votes from most down to least have
- 44:41Speaker 6: to describe how their character still inevitably faces an end.
- 44:46Speaker 6: I think Ben, you may have covered that.
- 44:49Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, there, I wasn't getting out of this live
- 44:51Speaker 3: I'm water flows through, there's flopping megalodons, there's little bits
- 44:56Speaker 3: of me all over the place, co mingled with you know,
- 44:59Speaker 3: unicor or in flesh and uh, you know, slides directly
- 45:04Speaker 3: into Olga's dance performance. Probably mm hmm, horrible title.
- 45:11Speaker 2: Of awfulness.
- 45:12Speaker 5: I do not accept excuses for any mistakes within our
- 45:17Speaker 5: dance performance. If they're slipping on blood, get your act together.
- 45:22Speaker 5: And as is typical for a dance troop coup, they
- 45:28Speaker 5: do murder and eat me in order to install a
- 45:33Speaker 5: new leader of the dance troupe.
- 45:35Speaker 3: And dance troops don't fuck around, no, they do not.
- 45:39Speaker 6: You had such a bright new future ahead of you.
- 45:41Speaker 3: Yeah, on the side, on the bright side, your visceration
- 45:46Speaker 3: super viral.
- 45:47Speaker 1: Oh that's the legacy I hoped for most views as
- 45:52Speaker 1: a postne it has worked. Like nobody's thinking about your
- 45:55Speaker 1: failed restaurant critics career any more. It's all about the
- 45:58Speaker 1: lepid eating.
- 45:59Speaker 5: And they're dance troop. They're going great. Yeah, they have
- 46:03Speaker 5: a great career.
- 46:06Speaker 6: I was trying to work killing it into a pun myself,
- 46:11Speaker 6: all right, and uh, Matt, you go ahead first.
- 46:14Speaker 1: I mean, yeah, Jeeves survives this right, that's the Yeah,
- 46:18Speaker 1: if that's what you choose, Yeah, yeah. I think Jeeves,
- 46:22Speaker 1: having become a master of animals throughout throughout this process,
- 46:27Speaker 1: has finally learned everything he can from this zoo based environment.
- 46:32Speaker 1: So as the beavers sort of carry carry him out
- 46:36Speaker 1: of the zoo, he's he's prepared for a new life
- 46:39Speaker 1: as a as a t rex boudoir photographer. He's he
- 46:44Speaker 1: awakens something in him and he's gonna explore that unto
- 46:47Speaker 1: safer environments.
- 46:49Speaker 6: Perfect. I think that that works well because I was thinking,
- 46:53Speaker 6: given that the most viral clip ever had also broadcast
- 46:58Speaker 6: a lot of other really suspicious civity happening in this area,
- 47:03Speaker 6: I would think that the zoo buffet of extraordinary beasts
- 47:10Speaker 6: finally gets shut down. Like every every country across NATO,
- 47:17Speaker 6: the United Nations, they all declare this to be like
- 47:22Speaker 6: some kind of crime. It's not a war crime, but
- 47:25Speaker 6: there's there's a lot of crime happening here. And my
- 47:30Speaker 6: body while I flew away to escape the fireworks, I
- 47:35Speaker 6: kind of ran out of steam about halfway through, and
- 47:39Speaker 6: eventually it's at some distance I land driving the stakes,
- 47:43Speaker 6: the rest of the driving the knives, the rest of
- 47:46Speaker 6: the way into me following Ben's lead with a kind
- 47:50Speaker 6: of like a smear slide.
- 47:56Speaker 1: Incredible, so ridiculous, It's so much fun.
- 48:03Speaker 2: Yeah, that was. That was a blast.
- 48:04Speaker 1: I never thought that I would say a lot of
- 48:06Speaker 1: the sentences that came out from now in.
- 48:09Speaker 2: The last hour.
- 48:11Speaker 5: It's a good game.
- 48:15Speaker 6: You guys are are definitely like the exact right kind
- 48:19Speaker 6: of players for this game too, And I think most
- 48:21Speaker 6: people would discover themselves to be but super creative ideas, answers,
- 48:28Speaker 6: so many, so many things that I didn't expect for
- 48:32Speaker 6: like the witch direction things went. And yeah, I appreciate
- 48:36Speaker 6: you guys inviting me to play, and you were You
- 48:39Speaker 6: guys were a blast.
- 48:41Speaker 1: Yeah, thanks so much for introducing us to this game.
- 48:44Speaker 1: I know quite a few people on our cast, quite
- 48:48Speaker 1: a few people who listen to this, and then just
- 48:50Speaker 1: various friend groups who would absolutely eat this up.
- 48:53Speaker 2: Oh yeah, throughout an evening. This is a lot of
- 48:57Speaker 2: fun game.
- 48:59Speaker 6: I've got a Discord, Discord dot gg slash Imminent Peril.
- 49:04Speaker 6: Wellbody's welcome to cons and play. I literally host games
- 49:10Speaker 6: using the same interface every weekend while the kickstarter is
- 49:14Speaker 6: going on, and hopefully in perpetuity. I'm trying to play
- 49:18Speaker 6: as much as possible. So you know, you guys would
- 49:21Speaker 6: be welcome to come over here. I'd be I'd love
- 49:25Speaker 6: to play again sometime with you guys or other parts
- 49:28Speaker 6: of the crew that could make it. No, no pressure,
- 49:30Speaker 6: but I'm going to be around and anybody is welcome
- 49:33Speaker 6: to go join a game sometime.
- 49:36Speaker 3: My son's planning on playing with you, I think later today.
- 49:39Speaker 6: Thank you? Oh no kidding? Is he the is he
- 49:41Speaker 6: the mystery user that I couldn't identify? Probably our first
- 49:45Speaker 6: recorded young person of gaming?
- 49:49Speaker 3: Oh sweet, Yeah, he's excited about it. He had so
- 49:51Speaker 3: much fun at Andy Con when when you guys had there,
- 49:53Speaker 3: he sat and played. I think he played this game,
- 49:56Speaker 3: you know, endlessly, essentially.
- 49:59Speaker 6: Every got and he was also like super creative. He
- 50:02Speaker 6: was like a great player. So yeah, you don't have
- 50:05Speaker 6: to be like of a certain age to play this game.
- 50:08Speaker 6: The game adapts to whatever the players preferences are for
- 50:12Speaker 6: like violence or yeh, sexuality whatever, like it's it fits
- 50:17Speaker 6: the players. They're they're the ones that make it up
- 50:19Speaker 6: as you go, so blame them.
- 50:20Speaker 2: Yeah, they don't always have to feature a whole rex.
- 50:23Speaker 1: You know, it doesn't always have to be that it helps, but.
- 50:29Speaker 3: It happens, and this will probably this will be airing
- 50:33Speaker 3: in May, so the kickstarter should be in full swing
- 50:36Speaker 3: when this is. When this is actually uh yeah put
- 50:40Speaker 3: out on the feed. So go back it. It's absolutely
- 50:43Speaker 3: worth it. It's a ton of fun.
- 50:45Speaker 1: Totally go go back this kickstart or right now because
- 50:48Speaker 1: the I'm just now envisioning the the endless amount of
- 50:52Speaker 1: fun across multiple evenings and I only have to back
- 50:55Speaker 1: something once.
- 50:55Speaker 2: That's that's crazy.
- 50:57Speaker 5: The value we.
- 50:59Speaker 6: Yeah, we tried to make it like you know, this
- 51:01Speaker 6: isn't like Cards against Humanity. It's not like the second
- 51:04Speaker 6: time or third time you've played a card. It's like
- 51:07Speaker 6: this one again.
- 51:07Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 51:08Speaker 6: Yeah, like every game is wildly different, even if you
- 51:11Speaker 6: get the same card every single game, which you shouldn't
- 51:13Speaker 6: because there's we're aiming for like three hundred cards.
- 51:16Speaker 2: Nice.
- 51:17Speaker 6: I'd like to think that we're going to be like
- 51:20Speaker 6: the first game that you break out when you have
- 51:23Speaker 6: like new friends over and one of the go to
- 51:25Speaker 6: games for getting right.
- 51:27Speaker 3: Yeah, and it's good for like groups from like three,
- 51:30Speaker 3: I know we played as big as like eight or nine.
- 51:33Speaker 6: Yeah, there are mechanics. We've polished it a bit so
- 51:36Speaker 6: that six is six is where you start five and
- 51:40Speaker 6: six is where you start running into memory issues like
- 51:42Speaker 6: what were you doing again? But you can play any
- 51:46Speaker 6: number of players by reducing it down to like three
- 51:50Speaker 6: or four hot seats. So this would be the elimination
- 51:54Speaker 6: version of the game where if you're if you get
- 51:55Speaker 6: the most votes, you're eliminated. You describe how your character
- 51:59Speaker 6: came to demise, but then somebody immediately sits down in
- 52:03Speaker 6: their place and describes who they were as a character
- 52:08Speaker 6: and what they've been doing amongst all this chaos, like
- 52:10Speaker 6: where have they've been this whole time? And they just
- 52:12Speaker 6: inject themselves into the game and things just keep rolling.
- 52:15Speaker 5: That's great, And something I love about playing this is
- 52:19Speaker 5: as a someone who's just found improv and who really
- 52:23Speaker 5: likes it. Sometimes improvising can be a little intimidating, but
- 52:27Speaker 5: when you have a framework to do it of such
- 52:30Speaker 5: silliness that like I could play this with friends who
- 52:33Speaker 5: do improv stuff, or I could play this with people
- 52:36Speaker 5: who would be like, oh, I could never do improv
- 52:37Speaker 5: in a million years, but they could feel like they
- 52:40Speaker 5: could do this. They would have a great time.
- 52:43Speaker 3: You don't realize you're doing improv but you're coming up
- 52:45Speaker 3: with stuff on the floor, which is exactly what it is.
- 52:48Speaker 3: Like you don't have to do like character voices and stuff,
- 52:50Speaker 3: but like you're you are improvising by the nature of
- 52:54Speaker 3: the game.
- 52:55Speaker 5: Yeah, totally in a way that feels super accessible from
- 52:58Speaker 5: both angles. And that wasn't funny. I know this has
- 53:01Speaker 5: been funny the rest of the time. That wasn't funny.
- 53:03Speaker 5: But it's just a genuine thing.
- 53:06Speaker 2: I like it. Oh fantastic.
- 53:09Speaker 1: I mean, check out the kickstart a link and everything
- 53:12Speaker 1: will be that that you need to check out.
- 53:16Speaker 3: And that's really cool. There's very few kickstarted like Kickstarter
- 53:18Speaker 3: crowdsource games that I've seen where you can legitimately just
- 53:24Speaker 3: go and play them and try them out during the
- 53:26Speaker 3: Kickstarter Like that's you know, there's a level of confidence
- 53:29Speaker 3: in your product that a lot of people don't have,
- 53:32Speaker 3: Like a lot and half the time kickstarted games like
- 53:34Speaker 3: they're not fully fleshed out yet either. So it's nice
- 53:36Speaker 3: that this is this is ready to rock and you
- 53:38Speaker 3: could like if you're like I think I'd like it,
- 53:39Speaker 3: and you can go play it and be like fuck, yeah,
- 53:41Speaker 3: I like it.
- 53:41Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 53:42Speaker 6: I will say an additional point towards what you said,
- 53:46Speaker 6: but also against well, I know that we have one
- 53:49Speaker 6: hundred and thirty seven cards in the deck right now,
- 53:51Speaker 6: but we realistically have almost two hundred. I think that
- 53:54Speaker 6: I've been in some kind of form of draft and
- 53:56Speaker 6: they just need like touched up a bit before they're
- 53:58Speaker 6: added to the decks. In another kind of show of confidence,
- 54:02Speaker 6: the Discord is going to have links to where people
- 54:05Speaker 6: can see all of the current components of the game,
- 54:08Speaker 6: and the goal is to get our community involved in
- 54:11Speaker 6: like pitching ideas and stuff like hey what about a
- 54:13Speaker 6: card like this? So throughout the kickstarter, which we're letting
- 54:17Speaker 6: run sixty days because it's not necessarily going to have
- 54:19Speaker 6: a financial impact, but we want to have as many
- 54:22Speaker 6: opportunities as we can to like do games and go
- 54:25Speaker 6: on podcasts and whatever becomes available. That's awesome, and that
- 54:29Speaker 6: that time as well is probably like a small period
- 54:31Speaker 6: of time afterwards, people will be able to jump on
- 54:33Speaker 6: discord and like throw throw feedback, throw comments, see all
- 54:37Speaker 6: of the cards that currently exist, pitch ideas.
- 54:43Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, that's awesome.
- 54:45Speaker 2: Thanky cool, so much fun. Thank you so much, Aaron.
- 54:50Speaker 6: Thanks, thank you guys. This was a blast.
- 54:52Speaker 3: This was a pleasure.
- 54:53Speaker 6: Appreciate you guys, plan and just remember, even when the
- 54:57Speaker 6: world seems to be getting more and more perilous as
- 55:03Speaker 6: the days go on, at least you're with your friends
- 55:06Speaker 6: and you always have the ability to be cut beautiful.
- 55:10Speaker 2: Thank you, Aaron.
- 55:11Speaker 1: Yes, and the here it was our actual play of
- 55:18Speaker 1: Imminent Peril. I think Gordra killed it there. I think
- 55:21Speaker 1: Gordra had the best character with the best arc. But
- 55:24Speaker 1: we all had so much fun with this game. Do
- 55:26Speaker 1: you check out the Imminent Peril Kickstarter that is live
- 55:30Speaker 1: right now. If you like the sound of this game
- 55:32Speaker 1: and you think it would be a hit with your
- 55:34Speaker 1: group of friends, who you play board games with, who
- 55:37Speaker 1: you play card games with, who you play improv games with,
- 55:40Speaker 1: then please do consider backing Imminent Peril on Kickstarter. There
- 55:44Speaker 1: is a link to that right at the top of
- 55:46Speaker 1: the show notes. So it's it's nice and handy, nice
- 55:49Speaker 1: and easy. Thank you again to Aaron for guiding us
- 55:52Speaker 1: through his game and for putting the time and effort
- 55:55Speaker 1: in to bring it to the world. It's a beautiful
- 55:57Speaker 1: thing when projects become actual and realized. Which is my
- 56:02Speaker 1: transition into the final plug for our live show on
- 56:06Speaker 1: May twenty fourth, are Star Wars themed Fandomonium? Yes, Star
- 56:10Speaker 1: Wars is about as hot a cultural product as it
- 56:14Speaker 1: has ever been right now. I think everyone would agree
- 56:16Speaker 1: that in twenty twenty five, it's the look. It's not
- 56:19Speaker 1: last of Us, it's not Minecraft. It is, of course
- 56:22Speaker 1: Star Wars that is the popular fandom. It's look. We're
- 56:26Speaker 1: going to be doing fandomonium live with an audience for
- 56:28Speaker 1: the first time. Let's see what that's like. And you
- 56:31Speaker 1: can come and join us at the Peak Improv Theater
- 56:33Speaker 1: in Colorado Springs, Colorado. There is a ticket link in
- 56:36Speaker 1: the show notes. Follow us on Instagram at gateleapers pod,
- 56:40Speaker 1: and let us know in the comments of either Patreon
- 56:43Speaker 1: or Spotify or wherever you listen to this podcast, let
- 56:47Speaker 1: us know if you would like to hear more actual
- 56:49Speaker 1: plays of games. Are you someone who is designed to
- 56:52Speaker 1: game and would like the Gateleapers to do an actual
- 56:55Speaker 1: play of it? Gateleapers at gmail dot com. This was
- 56:58Speaker 1: a blast. I'd love to do more. Thank you so
- 57:01Speaker 1: much for listening, leap frogs. We will be back in
- 57:03Speaker 1: one week with a brand new bonus round and in
- 57:06Speaker 1: two weeks with a brand new Pandemonium. I massively appreciate
- 57:10Speaker 1: all of your support as we continue to make all
- 57:12Speaker 1: of this cool stuff. Have a great week, everyone, Leap leap,
- 57:16Speaker 1: Leap out
