- 1:22Speaker 3: describe their past three sixty five and then offers up
- 1:26Speaker 3: some advice on how to move into the next year
- 1:29Speaker 3: with grace and a positive outlook. For today's episode, Mindy
- 1:33Speaker 3: is talking to me all about the importance of a
- 1:36Speaker 3: to don't list, as well as a bunch of other
- 1:39Speaker 3: p words like patience, perseverance.
- 1:42Speaker 2: You get the idea.
- 1:44Speaker 3: For me, Mindy falls into the same inspirational bucket as
- 1:47Speaker 3: Ali already. I feel so amped whenever I have the
- 1:51Speaker 3: opportunity to sit.
- 1:52Speaker 2: Down and speak with her and learn from her.
- 1:55Speaker 3: And there are so many really brilliant, just wonderful takeaways

- 2:37Speaker 3: all about just how beneficial it is to have the
- 2:41Speaker 3: opportunity to get more insight into what's happening within your body.
- 2:45Speaker 2: You know, for so long, so.
- 2:47Speaker 3: Many of us kind of on autopilot going to general
- 2:50Speaker 3: physicals but not really doing a deep dive into what
- 2:52Speaker 3: is happening, what is really going on on the inside.
- 2:55Speaker 3: For me, learning about my biomarkers, learning how I could
- 2:59Speaker 3: improve on them and better ultimately my athletic performance, my
- 3:04Speaker 3: everyday energy levels, it has made.

- 3:51Speaker 2: Hurdle podcast.
- 3:51Speaker 3: I'm over at Emily a baddie And with that, let's
- 3:55Speaker 3: get to hurdling.
- 4:01Speaker 2: Today.
- 4:01Speaker 3: I am sitting down with Mindy Grossman. She's the CEO
- 4:04Speaker 3: and president of ww How you doing today, Mindy.
- 4:08Speaker 1: I'm doing well. Happy New Year.
- 4:10Speaker 3: Happy New Year, I know, honestly, I'm really happy that
- 4:14Speaker 3: this is one of the first things I'm doing on
- 4:16Speaker 3: the first work day of twenty twenty two. It feels
- 4:19Speaker 3: like very intentional, very positive, good vibe.
- 4:22Speaker 2: So I told you today to come in with a word.
- 4:26Speaker 3: Now, did you think about what your word was for
- 4:29Speaker 3: twenty twenty one?
- 4:30Speaker 1: You know, I very much think about it, and it's
- 4:32Speaker 1: very interesting, Emily. Every year at the end of the year,
- 4:36Speaker 1: I write a letter to myself about the year, because
- 4:40Speaker 1: sometimes we forget what happens over a period of three
- 4:44Speaker 1: hundred and sixty five days and what is going to
- 4:47Speaker 1: be the one thing that defines it. So I thought
- 4:51Speaker 1: about it because in twenty twenty it was about pivoting, right,
- 4:57Speaker 1: you didn't even think about it. You had to pivot.
- 5:00Speaker 1: You had to do what you had to do. So
- 5:02Speaker 1: in our business, for example, we had to pivot in
- 5:06Speaker 1: six days from physical to virtual. We had to rethink
- 5:10Speaker 1: our transformation. So it was pivot. And when I thought
- 5:13Speaker 1: about this year, it was really about perseverance. And you know,
- 5:19Speaker 1: if you think about twenty twenty one, this idea of
- 5:23Speaker 1: perseverance and prioritization, and yes, I like themes of words,
- 5:29Speaker 1: but how could we block out the noise about the
- 5:32Speaker 1: things that could distract us, no matter how difficult the situation.
- 5:37Speaker 1: And that was definitely a theme. And I was reading
- 5:41Speaker 1: something today where they use the expression pandemic purgatory, and
- 5:47Speaker 1: I think a lot of people felt that way in
- 5:50Speaker 1: twenty twenty one, and you had to really think about
- 5:56Speaker 1: how you were going to manage because in a year
- 6:00Speaker 1: that we were hoping for a respite from what we
- 6:03Speaker 1: all went through in twenty twenty, you know, I started
- 6:07Speaker 1: the year committing to habit and prioritization, and I realized
- 6:12Speaker 1: that I had to be more comfortable with discomfort. So
- 6:16Speaker 1: that really for me define twenty twenty one now, and
- 6:20Speaker 1: we'll talk about it later. As I think about twenty
- 6:23Speaker 1: twenty two. You know, my word is purpose, and you
- 6:26Speaker 1: know it's really about having the clarity of what we
- 6:29Speaker 1: want in life. But what we've learned through all of
- 6:32Speaker 1: this is, you know, we have to be willing to
- 6:35Speaker 1: be flexible and you know, flexible and focused at the
- 6:39Speaker 1: same time, but definitely perseverance.
- 6:42Speaker 2: Flexible and focused at the same time. I love that.
- 6:45Speaker 3: And I think that you're talking about priorities and kind
- 6:49Speaker 3: of having some grace with ourselves when it comes to
- 6:52Speaker 3: going after the things that we want. That's something that
- 6:56Speaker 3: I can say I certainly struggled with at times. I'm
- 6:58Speaker 3: sure a lot of people listening to this, we'll say
- 7:00Speaker 3: that they struggled with this at times, having that grace
- 7:03Speaker 3: and like being okay with the fact that on our journey,
- 7:08Speaker 3: as we've been kind of trudging through the mud over
- 7:10Speaker 3: the last twelve twenty four months, things haven't looked as
- 7:14Speaker 3: we had hoped, But that doesn't mean that we can't
- 7:17Speaker 3: continue to keep pushing forward. So for you, on your
- 7:23Speaker 3: journey of perseverance, how have you managed to keep that
- 7:28Speaker 3: trudge going forward on the days that really just feel
- 7:31Speaker 3: like you are totally stuck in the think of it.
- 7:34Speaker 1: I think some of it is giving yourself permission to
- 7:38Speaker 1: sometimes sit back and stop and go, you know what,
- 7:41Speaker 1: I can't do anything right this second. Right, I need
- 7:45Speaker 1: just to take a break. I need to think it through.
- 7:49Speaker 1: I need to think what is the best outcome that
- 7:52Speaker 1: I'm hoping for, and then how am I going to
- 7:57Speaker 1: go about it? You know, And we've all been so
- 8:01Speaker 1: built for perfection, right that in this environment we've had
- 8:07Speaker 1: to be okay. Right, So things that in a perfect
- 8:12Speaker 1: world I would have said I want this done by
- 8:14Speaker 1: this date and then you had a disruption. You have
- 8:18Speaker 1: to give yourself permission to say, this is a journey.
- 8:21Speaker 1: We're doing all the right things and we're going to
- 8:24Speaker 1: get there, but we may have to be more flexible
- 8:28Speaker 1: in the timeline because what you don't want to do
- 8:31Speaker 1: is shortcut what's going to be right for you in
- 8:34Speaker 1: the long term. So it's definitely been a balance of
- 8:38Speaker 1: short term and long term, but making sure that your
- 8:43Speaker 1: prioritization and your focus are on the right things. You
- 8:49Speaker 1: have to, like, not be distracted by the noise.
- 8:53Speaker 3: Let's talk about distraction and maybe get a little granular
- 8:56Speaker 3: with this for just a moment, because I hear what
- 8:59Speaker 3: you're saying, and it makes me think of like practical
- 9:01Speaker 3: applications in our day to day.
- 9:03Speaker 1: Right.
- 9:03Speaker 2: It's kind of like that piece of advice that we
- 9:06Speaker 2: often hear.
- 9:06Speaker 3: It's like, don't make it to do list that has
- 9:09Speaker 3: one hundred and twenty things on it. Instead, make it
- 9:11Speaker 3: to do list that has four or five actual tasks
- 9:15Speaker 3: that you could see yourself doing throughout the day. Do
- 9:18Speaker 3: you have any other tips or tricks or takeaways that
- 9:21Speaker 3: help you kind of home in on the vision and
- 9:23Speaker 3: the short term to help you be more productive in
- 9:26Speaker 3: your day to day.
- 9:27Speaker 1: I do think that, you know, I use this expression
- 9:32Speaker 1: there's a to do list and it to don't list,
- 9:35Speaker 1: And I think we've all been, you know, a little
- 9:39Speaker 1: guilty of trying again to do too much. And I
- 9:42Speaker 1: think practicing discretion in what really is going to make
- 9:48Speaker 1: the most significant difference, whether it's in your business life
- 9:53Speaker 1: or your personal life, and be able to really focus
- 9:57Speaker 1: on what's important. And you know, I use this to
- 9:59Speaker 1: express that, both for my business as well as my life,
- 10:05Speaker 1: that we've all done a bit of a radical reappraisal
- 10:09Speaker 1: of what we value, who we value, how we value
- 10:12Speaker 1: our time. And I definitely did gut checks during this year.
- 10:17Speaker 1: Do I really need to do that. And you know,
- 10:20Speaker 1: I tell the story I have, you know, the benefit
- 10:25Speaker 1: of working closely with Oprah Winfrey, and you know, somebody
- 10:29Speaker 1: wrote an article about her and I can affirm that
- 10:32Speaker 1: she practices ultimate discretion, you know. And I think in
- 10:36Speaker 1: today's environment, it's been more important to know what to
- 10:39Speaker 1: say no to than even what to say yes to.
- 10:43Speaker 1: And when we relaunched WW, we created what we call
- 10:47Speaker 1: our purpose filter, and it's a list of questions that
- 10:50Speaker 1: you ask yourself before you're going to make a decision
- 10:54Speaker 1: or hire someone or you know, decide on a partnership,
- 10:58Speaker 1: whatever that is. We have to do that for our
- 11:02Speaker 1: own lives. We have to have our own purpose filter,
- 11:05Speaker 1: depending on where we are in our lives and what
- 11:08Speaker 1: is important to us and what our prioritizations. And I
- 11:12Speaker 1: know that's really helped me throughout this entire time. And
- 11:17Speaker 1: you know, I have said no to things that probably
- 11:21Speaker 1: under different circumstances, I just want to push myself to
- 11:25Speaker 1: either take that conversation or you know, do that event,
- 11:31Speaker 1: or do something else, and I haven't.
- 11:34Speaker 3: Well, I'm grateful that you find this conversation and purposeful.
- 11:38Speaker 2: I say you to it.
- 11:39Speaker 1: I was so looking forward to.
- 11:43Speaker 3: I know, at the very least, it's a really great
- 11:44Speaker 3: self exercise that we just get to help other people
- 11:48Speaker 3: with your own personal reflection from the past three sixty
- 11:51Speaker 3: five before I ask you a little bit more about
- 11:53Speaker 3: your takeaways from last year. I'd love it if maybe
- 11:56Speaker 3: you could offer up some of those questions that you
- 11:59Speaker 3: were talking about when it comes to the purpose filter,
- 12:02Speaker 3: because I think those could be really helpful.
- 12:04Speaker 1: I think everyone is individual, but you know, for me,
- 12:09Speaker 1: it really has been you know, I always have this
- 12:14Speaker 1: mantra that I've always had, you know, passion, purpose and impact, right,
- 12:22Speaker 1: And a lot of my questions are are through that.
- 12:28Speaker 1: Is this something I'm passionate about? And do I really
- 12:32Speaker 1: want to partake? Do I really want? Am I curious?
- 12:36Speaker 1: Because I'm a very curious person, you know, Am I
- 12:39Speaker 1: going to learn something or am I going to provide something? Right?
- 12:43Speaker 1: Is it purposeful? Is it purposeful for my business? Is
- 12:46Speaker 1: it purposeful for my family? Is it purposeful for my life?
- 12:50Speaker 1: And will it have impact? And you know, my questions
- 12:55Speaker 1: are definitely aligned around that, and I think we all
- 13:00Speaker 1: have to search within ourselves of you know, again, where
- 13:05Speaker 1: we are in our lives and you know what is
- 13:07Speaker 1: it that we want to do? And you know, I'm
- 13:09Speaker 1: at a point, you know, in my life, I'm definitely
- 13:13Speaker 1: with an organization that is about purpose, and we'll talk
- 13:17Speaker 1: a little bit about that when we talk about twenty
- 13:19Speaker 1: twenty two. But you know, I'm very fortunate to after
- 13:25Speaker 1: forty five years in business and everything else, to have
- 13:30Speaker 1: a platform where if I can share things, and sometimes
- 13:33Speaker 1: you share the good, the bad, of the ugly, right,
- 13:37Speaker 1: you know, can can I do this? And will it
- 13:39Speaker 1: help others? You know, certainly I've wanted to be there
- 13:43Speaker 1: for our organization. I've wanted to be there for our members,
- 13:50Speaker 1: you know, I've wanted to be there for you know,
- 13:53Speaker 1: other organizations that I'm part of, and I've wanted to
- 13:56Speaker 1: be there for my family and friends. And so the
- 13:59Speaker 1: question is what is the right balance?
- 14:01Speaker 2: And that balance it can be very very hard.
- 14:04Speaker 3: I feel like before on the show, I've talked about
- 14:06Speaker 3: like that bucket analogy. It's like you have so many
- 14:09Speaker 3: buckets and it can be really easy, perhaps at times,
- 14:12Speaker 3: to pour into one bucket over and over and over.
- 14:16Speaker 3: But if you get to a point where the other
- 14:17Speaker 3: buckets are empty and there's a hole in all of
- 14:19Speaker 3: the buckets, that's what we don't want. We don't want
- 14:21Speaker 3: to get to a point where your family bucket is
- 14:24Speaker 3: completely empty, but your work bucket is overflowing. It's trying
- 14:27Speaker 3: to find at times a little bit more balanced while
- 14:29Speaker 3: recognizing that, yes, like there are going to be moments
- 14:32Speaker 3: where some are a little bit lower than others. It's
- 14:35Speaker 3: just making sure that at the end of the day,
- 14:38Speaker 3: none of them are completely without right. Absolutely Again, reflecting
- 14:42Speaker 3: on twenty twenty two, we've talked about perseverance, We've talked
- 14:45Speaker 3: about priorities. What other lessons have you learned from the
- 14:48Speaker 3: past three sixty five that you're taken with you into
- 14:52Speaker 3: this new year.
- 14:53Speaker 1: Yeah, so I thought about that. I think always expect
- 14:56Speaker 1: the unexpected, you know, in the morning, and I consume
- 15:02Speaker 1: massive amounts of media because you're not sure what's going
- 15:06Speaker 1: to happen. But I think what we've all had to
- 15:09Speaker 1: do is learn to embrace uncertainty versus fear it, right,
- 15:15Speaker 1: and how do we use it to liberate us or
- 15:18Speaker 1: help us think? So that is a big one that
- 15:20Speaker 1: I talk about. I think the second thing is and
- 15:24Speaker 1: this is going to be going forward to you know,
- 15:27Speaker 1: in a world that has changed so much and technology
- 15:31Speaker 1: has accelerated. Certainly we need to embrace the virtual, but
- 15:35Speaker 1: the physical still is important. We crave human interaction. I
- 15:40Speaker 1: remember the first time I kind of went back into
- 15:43Speaker 1: the city and I was with my friends or I
- 15:46Speaker 1: was in the office. You realize how much you've missed.
- 15:51Speaker 1: And I think that this future of intersection of virtual
- 15:55Speaker 1: and physical. Now do I want to go and sit
- 15:57Speaker 1: in an office every day? No?
- 15:59Speaker 3: Right?
- 16:00Speaker 1: But it goes back to purpose, Right, So what does
- 16:03Speaker 1: that mean? And how can technology create value for people?
- 16:08Speaker 1: And how do you have the balance of both and
- 16:11Speaker 1: for an organization that has community at its core, you know,
- 16:16Speaker 1: that's really important. And I think how we can use
- 16:20Speaker 1: technology as an asset to create the balance of physical
- 16:25Speaker 1: and virtual. I think that's what a lot of organizations
- 16:28Speaker 1: and a lot of humans are really looking to do.
- 16:33Speaker 1: And I think, you know, as I talked about, you know,
- 16:37Speaker 1: perseverance and prioritization. You know, control what we can control,
- 16:45Speaker 1: control what we can control, because there are certain things
- 16:48Speaker 1: that we can't. So when you do that, you actually
- 16:52Speaker 1: find that you innovate out of necessity. I mean, if
- 16:56Speaker 1: I look at the last couple of years, where we
- 16:58Speaker 1: live primarily in a virtual environment, we launched the biggest,
- 17:02Speaker 1: most radical innovation in a company's history, and we had
- 17:06Speaker 1: to do it by being purposeful, by letting people innovate
- 17:10Speaker 1: and do their roles, by giving them the freedom right
- 17:15Speaker 1: for decision making and moving forward. And I think long
- 17:19Speaker 1: term that's going to be helpful for the organization.
- 17:22Speaker 2: When it comes to being purposeful.
- 17:24Speaker 3: I know everyone has to act in whatever way makes
- 17:27Speaker 3: them feel comfortable considering everything is going on in the world.
- 17:30Speaker 3: But I'm at this point where I'm very realistic about
- 17:34Speaker 3: the pillars that you're talking about here, about connection, about
- 17:36Speaker 3: the importance of that connection, and understanding that while I
- 17:39Speaker 3: might not go socialize in the middle of a crowded baller,
- 17:43Speaker 3: I can't stay cooped up in this apartment like I
- 17:46Speaker 3: did in twenty twenty anymore. It's not an option for me.
- 17:50Speaker 3: It's not an option for my mental health. So really
- 17:53Speaker 3: kind of putting it out there for myself, asking myself
- 17:56Speaker 3: what situations do I want to get myself into that
- 17:59Speaker 3: all are very purposeful for me, that I really do
- 18:02Speaker 3: feel that there is a benefit perhaps even with a
- 18:06Speaker 3: little bit of risk, that will still fill me up.
- 18:10Speaker 3: And again, everyone's going to be different in how they
- 18:12Speaker 3: make those decisions, and everyone's going to be different and
- 18:15Speaker 3: how they go and execute going into twenty twenty two.
- 18:18Speaker 3: But I have just personally come to my conclusion here
- 18:21Speaker 3: personally professionally that like, there are certain things that I'm
- 18:24Speaker 3: going to have to do and I'm accepting that risk
- 18:26Speaker 3: that comes with it knowing that I'm going to be
- 18:28Speaker 3: better for it in the long haul. That doesn't mean
- 18:30Speaker 3: that I won't have anxiety about it.
- 18:31Speaker 1: What's wonderful about that? So if you think of the gamut, right,
- 18:36Speaker 1: which is one you're cooped up and alone and everything
- 18:40Speaker 1: is a video right and over here these giant, big
- 18:46Speaker 1: events that we all used to go to and mill around,
- 18:49Speaker 1: right And to me, what we're all craving right now
- 18:52Speaker 1: is the personal interaction smaller groups where we can have
- 18:57Speaker 1: real conversation and real cannet. And I think that's what
- 19:02Speaker 1: people are craving and the big part of it. And
- 19:06Speaker 1: you also said this, and it goes back to that
- 19:08Speaker 1: purpose filter who and what do we value and where
- 19:13Speaker 1: are we going to decide if there's any risk that
- 19:16Speaker 1: we're willing to take it because it's so meaningful to us.
- 19:20Speaker 3: One hundred percent going forward for you both personally and professionally.
- 19:25Speaker 3: Where do you see yourself kind of coming together in
- 19:30Speaker 3: these spaces. What does purposeful connection look like for you
- 19:35Speaker 3: in twenty twenty two.
- 19:36Speaker 1: No, well, I think it goes, you know, back to
- 19:39Speaker 1: what I said. I mean, I've planned out, you know,
- 19:42Speaker 1: over the next couple of months very specifically where and
- 19:48Speaker 1: what I want to do. And if I look at
- 19:50Speaker 1: a theme, it's definitely purposeful. It's definitely people that you know,
- 19:58Speaker 1: either I'm going to stretch my mind or I want
- 20:02Speaker 1: to give my heart and I want to have conversations
- 20:07Speaker 1: that are going to either fulfill me or I'm going
- 20:11Speaker 1: to learn something or it satisfies curiosity. You know when
- 20:17Speaker 1: I think of you know, I'm kind of geeky, you know,
- 20:20Speaker 1: when things come up. So you know, I'm also on
- 20:23Speaker 1: the board of Fanatics, which I love, and you look
- 20:27Speaker 1: at what's happening in the NFT space and what they're doing,
- 20:30Speaker 1: So I become a geek on NFTs, or I'll become
- 20:32Speaker 1: a geek on what you're going to do in crypto
- 20:36Speaker 1: Like learning, I think you know we all miss some
- 20:39Speaker 1: of that as well. So how can we explore new territories?
- 20:44Speaker 1: And I've always had even during COVID, even in a
- 20:47Speaker 1: virtual world, I kept to my I need to meet
- 20:52Speaker 1: someone new, learn something new, have a new conversation, you know,
- 20:56Speaker 1: if not every day every week, I think we're all
- 21:00Speaker 1: craving that. And so that is my plan for twenty
- 21:04Speaker 1: twenty two.
- 21:05Speaker 2: A few things to double click on here.
- 21:06Speaker 3: I love the idea of asking yourself like, is this
- 21:10Speaker 3: going to exercise my mind or empower me to like
- 21:13Speaker 3: lend some of my heart?
- 21:14Speaker 2: I love that purpose filter. I think that's great too.
- 21:17Speaker 3: I would love like an episode of Hurdle where Mindy
- 21:20Speaker 3: Grossman like explains NFTs for dummies or Crypto for Tommy.
- 21:25Speaker 1: You might have to wait a little while for that.
- 21:26Speaker 1: There's probably some people who could do it better than me.
- 21:29Speaker 1: But I've always said, you know, in all of these things,
- 21:33Speaker 1: just like being a CEO, you have to know enough
- 21:37Speaker 1: about everything to ask the right questions, even though you
- 21:40Speaker 1: may yourself only be an expert in some areas. But
- 21:46Speaker 1: you know, I think knowledge is power and you can
- 21:50Speaker 1: have the right conversations, and I think that's really important.
- 21:55Speaker 1: You know. I would say my one challenge this year,
- 21:59Speaker 1: and it's kind of another you know word, starting with
- 22:02Speaker 1: the PE is patients you know, it doesn't matter if
- 22:05Speaker 1: I do Myers Briggs or Diret whatever. It's you know,
- 22:08Speaker 1: one of my things because I want things to happen.
- 22:11Speaker 1: And I've really had to work on being able to
- 22:16Speaker 1: sit back and say, no, we need to do this
- 22:19Speaker 1: in the right time frame. We need to be able
- 22:21Speaker 1: to absorb it, we need to be able to have
- 22:23Speaker 1: the capacity. And you know that perseverance is kind of
- 22:29Speaker 1: what gets you through that, and I've had to really
- 22:33Speaker 1: work on that certainly during this time.
- 22:35Speaker 3: Yeah, patience, perseverance, priorities. Twenty twenty one, it was the
- 22:39Speaker 3: year of peace.
- 22:42Speaker 1: That it just worked that way. I didn't even try
- 22:44Speaker 1: that well.
- 22:46Speaker 2: I mean, I would be a messive. I didn't tell
- 22:48Speaker 2: you that.
- 22:48Speaker 3: I am like just so inspired by your outlook and
- 22:51Speaker 3: your positivity. I think it's really important as we go
- 22:55Speaker 3: forward that we continue to channel a lot of those
- 22:57Speaker 3: peas and that positivity. Oh, I'm just like, let me
- 23:00Speaker 3: throw another one at you, because it is just you know,
- 23:04Speaker 3: like you said earlier, there are going to be so
- 23:06Speaker 3: many things that are out of our control even as
- 23:08Speaker 3: this pandemic persists. It's like we are going to need
- 23:12Speaker 3: these valuable lessons that we learned over the last two
- 23:14Speaker 3: years going forward and to be able to apply them
- 23:17Speaker 3: for many, many more.
- 23:19Speaker 2: Months and years to come.
- 23:21Speaker 3: When you think about the new year, what else excites
- 23:24Speaker 3: you about twenty twenty two?
- 23:26Speaker 1: As much as we've been through so much turmoil. You know,
- 23:30Speaker 1: I'm what I call a resilient optimist, and I do
- 23:34Speaker 1: feel that we will have a path forward, and I'm
- 23:40Speaker 1: just hoping that we all take these learnings and use them.
- 23:43Speaker 1: There's no going back, and there's no going backwards. And
- 23:48Speaker 1: you know, the purpose has always been a core element
- 23:52Speaker 1: for me. And yeah, I actually wrote this down. So
- 23:55Speaker 1: my friend Aria Borkoff was the CEO of Lion Tree Capital, right,
- 24:00Speaker 1: it's an annual letter every year, and this quote from him,
- 24:04Speaker 1: which I really appreciated, was in a world cut off
- 24:07Speaker 1: from habit, in the midst of a digital whirlwind, purpose
- 24:11Speaker 1: is the only runner is strong enough to guide us.
- 24:14Speaker 1: And I think, you know, it's a filter that will
- 24:16Speaker 1: provide clarity. And I hope that we all use that
- 24:20Speaker 1: going forward, because you know, my expression is, you know,
- 24:24Speaker 1: never waste a good crisis. And I think if we've
- 24:28Speaker 1: learned anything, whether it's us as humans or business people
- 24:33Speaker 1: or family, whatever, it is let's do enough of the
- 24:37Speaker 1: soul searching to say what have I learned and what
- 24:39Speaker 1: I'm going to do moving forward. And that's why these
- 24:42Speaker 1: conversations you're having, which you know are are fantastic. The
- 24:46Speaker 1: more we can share and listen at the same time,
- 24:50Speaker 1: the better off we're all going to be.
- 24:51Speaker 3: Yeah, for sure, I know I was saying to a
- 24:53Speaker 3: friend who I know bless her, but she's not like
- 24:56Speaker 3: an avid podcast listener.
- 24:58Speaker 2: I said, just do yourself a favor.
- 25:00Speaker 3: If you have twenty minutes this week, turn on at
- 25:02Speaker 3: least one of the five episodes that are coming out,
- 25:05Speaker 3: because sometimes the barriers to entry. As a creator, I
- 25:08Speaker 3: think about that, right, It's like I love being able
- 25:11Speaker 3: to have long form conversations, but someone might be intimidated
- 25:15Speaker 3: by opening up a sixty minute podcast episode. So starting
- 25:18Speaker 3: off with something for your day that can help you
- 25:21Speaker 3: start this year on the right foot that's fifteen or
- 25:23Speaker 3: twenty minutes instead of something that's sixty minutes, Well maybe
- 25:25Speaker 3: that's the entry point, which I'm sure, especially having been
- 25:29Speaker 3: on the WW program in the past myself, is something
- 25:32Speaker 3: that you all think a lot about when it comes
- 25:34Speaker 3: to accessibility for the members that you work with it's like, Okay,
- 25:38Speaker 3: how can we make this program, this modality, this strategy
- 25:42Speaker 3: something that doesn't feel like everest to get into in
- 25:46Speaker 3: fact meets you exactly where you're at.
- 25:48Speaker 1: In our offices, we have in our studious that we
- 25:51Speaker 1: have a giant quote on the wall and it's progress,
- 25:55Speaker 1: not perfection. And it's been core to everything, and you know,
- 26:01Speaker 1: especially with our new program, you know, and I tell everyone, yeah,
- 26:06Speaker 1: maybe the CEO of the company, but I'm a super
- 26:09Speaker 1: user member advocate, you know, I'm top tracker, you know,
- 26:14Speaker 1: you name it. And we all have to give ourselves
- 26:18Speaker 1: permission right at this point, and I think that's going
- 26:23Speaker 1: to be really important. You know, what are the things
- 26:25Speaker 1: that we know we can do every day every week
- 26:30Speaker 1: that are going to fulfill us and do something for us.
- 26:33Speaker 1: And you know, the other thing is, and the big
- 26:36Speaker 1: takeaway from these last couple of years is the importance
- 26:40Speaker 1: of our health, our physical health, our mental health. You
- 26:46Speaker 1: know it is it is the one thing that we
- 26:49Speaker 1: have to value more than anything, because if we don't
- 26:54Speaker 1: have that, what do we have?
- 26:55Speaker 2: So true, it's so true.
- 26:57Speaker 3: I'm sitting here nod in my head, listening to you
- 26:59Speaker 3: and also thinking about the book proposal that I'm going
- 27:01Speaker 3: to write about, Like the six Piece, It's coming to
- 27:06Speaker 3: a bookshelf near you very soon.
- 27:08Speaker 2: Okay, last question for you, Mindy.
- 27:11Speaker 3: Right now you have the opportunity to offer yourself a
- 27:16Speaker 3: piece of advice. Looking back to the beginning of last year,
- 27:20Speaker 3: the beginning of twenty twenty one, what do you tell yourself?
- 27:25Speaker 1: I hinted at it before. Be patient, but be focused
- 27:30Speaker 1: and diligent. Don't let the noise distract you from what's
- 27:35Speaker 1: really important. Give yourself the permission right to look at
- 27:42Speaker 1: the cadence of what you need to do to prepare
- 27:46Speaker 1: yourself for the best future. That's what I.
- 27:49Speaker 3: Would say, permission to prepare yourself for the best future.
- 27:52Speaker 3: I love that, Mindy, So grateful for your time. As always, Mindy,
- 27:56Speaker 3: how do the hurdlers follow along with you?
- 27:57Speaker 2: How do they keep up with WW? Give me all
- 27:59Speaker 2: the file.
- 28:00Speaker 1: It's Mindy Grossman, following me on LinkedIn, Twitter and Instagram.
- 28:06Speaker 3: Over at WW for Instagram as well, Yes, over at WW.
- 28:11Speaker 3: I'm over at Emily Body and at Hurdle Podcast. Another
- 28:13Speaker 3: Hurdle conquered. Catch you guys next time.
